"Best new artist to something like that or song of the year or album of the year and not not song of the album. It was one of those, it was a good award, but one of the good shit that came out too. And it was two oasis oasis and like a Hudson stand in there. And Gallagher brothers come up on stage with the band and the old galaga takes the trophy and he says, it's good to get a trophy from a has been. It's good that the has been is given the going to be is the trophy. Wow. He walks away. That's Gallagher's something to that effect. He said, it's funny that the has been is giving it to the going to bees. That hurts. And Hutchins was a nice guy. He was not it, yeah. Oh, nice guy. Nice guy got punched in the face in France. That's what happened. Yeah, he was him and his girlfriend were all biking. And the fucking on some road in France and. He had a flat or something like that. And this car came around the corner. They got those small country roads. And the guy beat that and he was like, what? You look at Michael Hutchinson. He's not. Not a big dude. Right. So he gets out of the car with his road rage. And he says something to him and he says, well, what's your problem? And he just blasted him in the face. And he fell down and Hudson went down and whacked his head off the ground. And the guy gets in this kind of drives away. He gets rushed, somehow, his girlfriend, she was the model. She gets somehow an ambulance there, and they take him and he had serious yet. Swelling and after that he had lost his ability to taste and that really fucked him up because he was really like a wine connoisseur and he liked fine foods, fine dining. So that's how to get into him and then he started acting very erratic and he would lock himself in his house for months and wouldn't talk to anybody. He just started going it's the documentary,

"12 albums, right? So the first one came out in 80. Called inxs, and the second one came out in 81 underneath the colors. And this is when bands did one album a year, not like these lazy motherfuckers today. Like, all right, we're going to tour and then we're going to take a year off and then we're going to three years later to come out with another album and then in 82, shibu Shaba came on now. That's where they broke, right? That's where they kind of. And to this day, one of my favorite videos in absolute, I would have to say in the top ten favorite songs ever. The right thing, right? It's great, great fucking song, right? And then the swing came out, great album in 84. Listen like thieves, great album, 85. I was huge. They're there. I'll call it their Joshua tree, came out in 87 with kick. Yeah. Right. That was a monster fucking monster album. And that's when I got my first CD player, and that was one of my first CDs. Monster album. I mean, I was in the Philippines when that came out. And it was, again, they were all video bars. At that point, giant video screens would fucking like sound systems like you'd see at a concert. They didn't hold back. Probably one of the reasons I have tinnitus this day. What's your diet to this day? You'll never get rid of it. It's stuck in my head, but and then in 90 X came out with suicide blond and had about three, three hits on it, right? And then it just kind of falls off, welcome to wherever you are in 92, full moon, dirty hearts, 93, elegantly wasted 97. He died in when did when did Michael Hutchinson die? I think it was after 2000. Was it after 2000, yeah. Yeah. Definitely. Then in 2005, you know, they came out with switch and then 2010 original sin. I didn't like that they continued after. JD fortune. They had the whole reality show and to find a lead singer and they get this.

What was the first big live music show you ever saw? Already had a great one then that Patsy took it to Patsy's daughter Audie on Fridays in Dua Lipa as her first one, which is pretty amazing. What was it for you, Joe? So before I went to the big day, which was the first huge bands I saw, I went to the Alton roller rink to a punk show to see scar band area 7 and I remember rocking up on my mom dropping me off and everybody else was dressed as punks like mohawks. Tattered shirts, leather jackets, and I was in a mambo shirt and parachute pants. Patsy, what was it for you? Oh, do you know what? It was probably when I was working for 3D and the country we went to rock a longer, which was a thing at Yara wonga every year, which, you know, in the country, not many shows came in the country to the country in the late 80s, and it was Jimmy Barnes. And boom crash opera. Yeah, it was awesome. The first proper concept I ever went to was actually in excess. I was 16 and like I was saying earlier just Michael Hutchinson as well. They were brilliant live band. It says were amazing, but he was a proper. Man, they saw and he had leather trousers on. He was swinging from a vodka bowl. I still raise one of the coolest things I've ever saw. So a wide eyed 16 year old man, friend and I traveled up to the big smoke to London. So don't actually live in London. And it was such an exciting time just to see an actual big rock and roll band. And they were incredible. Calling a brighter note. You listening to the Christian O'Connell show podcast. 16 years ago last week I saw Billy Joel as a 15 year old at the now demolished burrs were dome in Perth, easily the youngest there got my tickets can't wait to see him again in a couple of weeks time. Yeah, he's at the G is not long now. Thank you very much, Daniel. It's going to aleana. Good morning. Hello? Hello? Hello there. Okay, so what was the first live show you've saw? The first live show I ever saw was when I was 7. It was 2013 and mom took me to see kiss Motley crew and Finn Lizzie Eddie had stadium. Wow, that's an amazing three great bands to see there and you are very young. Yeah. Do you remember much from it? Yeah, I do. I remember it being very, very loud and trying to plug in my ease and they weren't holding and I was getting very frustrated and we had seats and floor tickets and I remember dragging them up and down the states when I wanted to sit down and then going, oh yeah, no, let's go on the floor and then we'd go on the floor and then I'd go back up to the states and she was very annoyed with me. And you still go and see shows with mom now? Yeah, we still go up we just saw kiss three times when they came in August. We got four tickets and then we were able to make them and get a photo with them as well. Well, you two are amazing. What a great double act you are. Yeah, it's just mom and I so we're pretty pretty close. Oh, that's so lovely to hear and that you still got that joint passion together, a live music. So what's the next show you'd be seeing together? We don't have tickets for anything at the moment I don't think. So I've got a pair of tickets. Do you want to go and see Rod Stewart live? Rod Stewart live is amazing. I was just talking to mom about this the other day yesterday. I would love to go and say Rod Stewart. I've got pair of rods to do it, 'cause I'm going to give them to you right now. Double pass that go and see him at rod laver arena in March next year. Take mom, have a great time on us. Oh my God, thank you so much, Christian. That's all right. Thanks for calling. I love the passion as well. I love the relationship we got with your mom as well. Have a great day. Thanks for calling. Thank you, bye. Bye. What a lovely girl. Actually, good morning. Good morning, all how are you? There we go. So what was the first live show you ever saw? I went to see area 7 at the local Franklin skate park back in 90 something many, many millions you guys. So you're a fan like Jackie boy. Yeah, I was back in the day. My mom dropped me off and she made me wear this polo shirt and I said, nah, top ring. So I brought orientation. One of the way like a black T-shirt and got changed before winning in the concert. And when I left jumped in the car this month, Amazon mom, we got a Mac and she said, no, she's in sandwiches in the cotton fight. Shirt. Where's the shit? I said, what shit, huh? On the poll, you brought. Oh shivers, mom. Back in the cut back in the scene, I changed in the toil. I don't know whether she had done, I heard about how much it was on special. I was a nice shirt. 20 something years later, I still hear that that really shows. A lot of the fun of you truly be a secret closet punk away from your mom, that's amazing. And that Clark Kent, Superman, aren't you getting changed in a phone box coming out emo Superman? Anthony, that's a great one. Thank you very much. She called me, have a good day. Let's go to Adam. Good morning, Adam. Good morning guys. How are you all? Yeah, we're good. I hope you had a great weekend at him. What was the first large show you ever saw? Well, I feel very fortunate to say this. I got to see Nirvana live at the palace back in 91. So wow, that's incredible. 1990 Y saw them in 92. How old were you? I was 15. My aunt was friends with somebody that had something to do with the palace back in the day. So we were very fortunate in the sense that we got a free pass to go and see them and it was just blew me away. It was the greatest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I've actually walked out of that key thing to myself actually one of the musicians. So yeah, it was amazing. Yeah, what an experience to see a band like that 9. So 91 was probably just about the cast before they really sort of became global stars. Yeah, they sort of, I think it was sort of around the never mind. So I had the cassette, but they played a whole bunch of other material that I hadn't actually heard yet, but when the curtain open was just all pitch black and you could just make out this silhouette curtain was taking the last few drags and the cigarette and then they just launched into annually. And then when the drums kicked in from Dave Grohl, all these psychedelic lights behind them just went just went nuts and we were on the balcony. So there's just a whole set of people just moshing and going insane as if I'll just blown away. It's actually giving me goosebumps just imagining the scene you just painted there so vividly earlier. So amazing how much you still

I've actually walked out that key, thinking to myself, I actually want to be a musician. So yeah, it was amazing. Yeah, what an experience to see a band like that 9. So 91 was probably just got the cast before they really sort of became global stars. Yeah, they sort of, I think it was sort of around the never mind. I was one of those turning points in my life Christian and I'm Kurt Cobain such a humble person. You just had this presence about, you didn't have to do anything. It wasn't over contrived. So let me just strum this guitar and sang. I just, I don't know, just bring my mind and amazing lyricists like lyrics just really bleed their way back in the day. So yeah. It's an amazing and it's still doing live music now. You say that it's sort of made you want to be getting a band. Do you still do that now? Occasionally, yeah, my old band has actually been around for 25 years. So they're actually doing a reunion show later this year, but I'm going to get up into a couple of songs. Frankenbach. Frankenbach. Right. It's awesome. And where's the reunion show going to be? Give it a plug. Okay, thanks. It's going to be at the total December 10. A couple of weeks ago. In fact, you're going up against Billy Joel. Billy Joel. Billy is going to look out our empty seats and go beauty frankenburg. He holds 300 people for that show. The reunion had to be tonight. The only show doing in Australia. And if you know what we're giving Billie Joel tickets away in the last week of the show, for everyone who loses, we should send them to Franklin. No, we give them a choice. Pretty Joel or frankenbach. Adam, great story. Thank you very much for taking us there, mate. Really, really amazing stuff. Thank you. "But I can't help but feel like it's a little bit like like Queen still going without Freddie Mercury. But that's exactly what I support. You don't even know. Yeah, they're still going. And in excess is still going without Michael Hutchinson. Bands lose their frontman and Jeff was very much the front. It's not like the fucking drummer left. Jeff Gershwin is like the Mick Jagger of giant bomber. And once that person leaves, you can try to replace them. But we all know. Well, I'd be excited. I'd be excited to see Queen with Adam Lambert, right? They were in Vegas recently. I'd love to see that. Because is it really still, is it really Queen with that Freddie Mercury? You've got to say no. And is it really Jeff barn without any of the founding members? It's not the old giant bomb. It's not the one we grew up loving. The question is, can they make a new giant bomb that people will like just as much? I hope so, but I'm very much an old fashioned guy when it comes to this stuff. And that's the big, you know, it's a tough road to hoe for sure because I think giant bomb is so synonymous with Jeff gershman. And I think that this isn't and I'm speaking out of my asset, 'cause as much as I think to a degree you are, right? Of like, we love the people that have worked at giant bomb. We love the people that are the ones we know from the current cast of giant bomb, but I don't actively consume giant bomb content. And that's not because of a personal preference, it's more the fact that I make content all day long and then I go try to take care of my family and then I play a game. It's like, where would I fit in, watching or listening to a thing? You know, I'm lucky enough that I could talk to Lucy. I can talk to him. I can talk to Jeff, I was talking to him in his chat today. And so it's one of those, you know, you talk about being a purist, so then your giant palm has been gone for a long time. And what it takes looking at it here, even with, you know, the next landers guys leaving to go make next lander and leaving giant bomb. I saw a lot of people be like, oh man, this isn't my giant bomb anymore. This is that. Things have all been changed over time, but yeah, even for as long as it's been that Jeff has been the face and Jeff is Ben giant bomb, even Jeff said in his thing today. This all happened really quickly. So it wasn't like you eased into this, right? Because I think hopefully knock on wood, right? Parallel, because we're talking about the fact that they talk about it here, right? Since it launched in 2008. So quite a while there, a 14 years of giant bomb. If kind of funny is lucky enough, and I think we will, to make it 14 years, 15 years or whatever, right? My plan is to not be the face of kind of funny forever, right? I plan on falling back naturally over time. You see the blessing shows up today, right? And what a fucking fantastic episode of the blessing show is so good. So great. I'm not saying, you know, blessing will be, I hope it's the face of kind of funny in another 8 years or whatever. But you bring on new people and they make new shows, which inevitably means that I'm making less. And I already host games daily way less than I did when it started, right? I used to be on every day with a new co host. And now there's a whole bunch of us on the rotating schedule that come through and do. And for the most part, I was like, this is great. I like that. Evolving and changing and doing all these different things. It's not a random Monday out that you wake up and I'm like, I'm leaving kind of funny and bam, that's what's happening. And now it's completely different. And even then you have Tim and you'd have Nick and you have Kevin. People who have been here pretty much since the start, Kevin, you know what it took me a month and a half to cry at a desk and call Kevin and make them come work for us. But it is this idea that you would have that natural growth. I think this is a big shift, right? It feels like a seismic shift for a lot of people. But I also don't know how much it feels like a seismic shift for people who consume giant bomb regularly. Because looking at the reset era thread and reading through all that, people have been talking about the fact, well, just been gone for a while or he's been doing less and yet yada yada, like there's a bunch of stuff happening here. And so, you know, everybody I wish well. I know, but it's like is the product of its personalities, right? And so at some point, even though it happens over time, if you get to a point where none of the original people are there anymore, it's now completely set a personalities. That's a different entity, right? It might still have the same name. And maybe it's evolved in a good way. Maybe it's just as good as it used to be, but in a different way. But it's like, you know, you've got like a broom, right? And you replace the handle and then you replace the head and then you replace the handle again. And next thing, it's not the same broom anymore, because none of the original components are there, but like you think it is because all the parts overlapped. So terrible analogy, but there's my way of saying like, I don't know. On the one hand, there's the old man yells at cloud versions. Like, for me, Jeff really was giant bombing. So much of the personality of that site came from came from him. But I think, you know, I think probably what has happened is that a lot of that person, even though he's left, a lot of the tone and a lot of the humor and a lot of the personality. I was really it was interesting. I was very bittersweet when they said, oh, we're going to bring back Mario party games, 'cause that used to be one of the most fun parts of giant bomber. It was those epic Mario party games that they used to play. And I used to love watching those, and I'm glad they're bringing them back, but like a big part of the reason why I liked them is because I loved watching Jeff just quietly simmering as you would always always get fucked over. And just watching him like sitting there like he wouldn't rage, he wouldn't like throw the controller. He would just sit there silently fucking fuming and silently hating that game more than anything else. And I just love that energy. And so it'll be different. It won't be the same, the question is can it be as good in a different way? Because that's, they're going to have to, that's the tone they're going to have to find going forward. That is the question and we wish all of the 9 new folks at giant bomb and of course Jeff the best on their future endeavors, I would expect to see pretty much all of them run through kind of funny games daily at some point in time. Jeff says he's down. He just got to figure out what his schedule will be. But we'll get there. Don't worry. But that's still so far away, Gary. If I wanted something more immediate, say what came to the.

"I don't know how you fix it. I mean like people. Can you know all they've got to make changes while you've got the same players you're not trading those players. You're not changing those players. How can those players be better more consistently even their own team. Says the same thing. Jake muslim who. I a feel or sense of moslem that. There's there's not a lot of bullshit jake. Muhsin agreed and so he said at the beginning of the year we we've learned a to be a little more mature in our game. Yeah well right now. They need to stick their noses in. They need to get their hands dirty because they may think they are. They're not san. Jose deserved the win. The other night they played the night before and montreal. Toronto had four days off five days off. They should toronto. Should've skated those guys into the ice. And it didn't happen and not much is happening throughout that lineup. With the exception. I mean michael hutchinson and his game wasn't very good right now. They've got the injury maroshek. Sounds like he's getting healthy. Jack campbell for the most part is has been fine if not better than fine but then you look at the defense. You mentioned muhsin david camp. Who's a real good defensive forward. His numbers aren't good defensively. Their power play isn't like you're the coach your sheldon keefe. You're looking at it. Gone aside from juggling that lineup. Where do you start. Just start with the power play and say okay. It's been it's been five games but really it's been two games. Yeah i've been six games. It's been two games because matthew knives visas about but everybody's hung up on the setup whether mourner belongs in the middle or on the wing against san. Jose couldn't get in the zone right no matter what your setup is. They couldn't get in the zone so they're not sharp. They're not right. Some of it can be cured with with a little bit more as we used to. Call a little as my dad. You say a little more elbow grease right like you get you get to work here. All all throw allies patterson from the connection. That's too there are times when a player thinks they're working hard enough and they're not like pederson says. Yeah my game's not right yet and you know what think back to his first year. How many times did you see him. Just tenaciously winning pocket. Back as an always on the puck like pavel data. Klay there right now. He may think he's doing it. he's not in. Toronto is not committed enough to get themselves over the hump to let their talent takeover. They're not yet and they better get there quick. Yeah agreed likewise with the chicago. Blackhawks this imprint. They're they're not but that's the way it appears. And i didn't think that they were going to make great strides. But i did feel that they were going to be better. And maybe that was putting too much stock. And bringing in seth jones and marc andre fleury and of course jon tapes being back on the ice leadership role and being healthy again. That's just a great. Nhl story but it just it. It feels like they're coming apart at the seams with that organization. Like on and off the ice while i was there for was there tuesday. I guess now and it was their home opener. They were playing the islanders. They played a good thirty minutes really good thirty minutes and then they just fell apart in their start. One in five their minus fifteen in goals like that is a debacle. Mine is so..

"The game of hockey So that suspension is gonna keep him off the ice until at least november thirtieth and during which time he's gonna be missing a quarter of the season so He he just just sounds like he did. Dumb guy doesn't really care so right so so thoughts on it. Yeah so hearing that statement do do you actually believe what he said or is he just you know. Is it just a statement. Just because they want him to release a statement. Yeah i mean he's he's he's made three apologies. Just this quarter so no in the interesting part of that particular statement for me. Is i plan to return to the ice in in. Here's what i'm thinking is like if you're san jose or you or your player for the san jose sharks. Do you really want him coming back. Probably not i wouldn't. I wouldn't want him coming back at all if it if it was me i would. He he needs to go away and stay away because apparently it sounds like the team is happier and better off without him even though he was the sharks leading goal score point getter last season. So i don't know the the whole evanger came protocol thing in saga continues and it doesn't seem to have an end in sight because he's still got the gambling debts that he's still working through his his still filed for bankruptcy. He's still were divorce with his wife. there's just so much that's out publicly in. Maybe it's just weird to see because you don't really see this very much but the whole thing is just odd and weird to see. That's another thing that makes the chill better than other sports leagues in my opinion because the players have more respect for themselves and for the job that they're doing than other sports leagues do so. We don't need an advocate in the nhl. And i hope he disappears. The thing is he's a great player he is. He's very good at what he does. You have other great players. We don't need vander king from from the nhl perspective. I would agree with that. There's other players. They can take his spot but again. If you're san jose i would just say go away. We don't want you in. You know we'll pay your contract out but we don't want you playing forest. Just go away and take care of yourself. Did you need to so anyways I'll leave that to that anyways Interesting story coming out of toronto k. So peter meraz ick who is technically the backup to jack campbell. Up in toronto. He gets hurt right will. They can't call up. Michael hutchinson because of all these cap constraints and stuff like that. So what does the g. The gm of toronto kyle dubious do what does he do. He goes in signs a university of toronto goalie to an amateur. Try tryout for one game as the emergency backup. These are the kinds of. Yeah that's true. Yeah but those are the things that i guess. We'll see more often with the whole cap. Constraint thing yeah. I know you put this in there to be as kind of short little topic but.

"He said he wasn't crazy about having to put shirts and ties on his ten year old kids to go to hockey games, but I don't know, man, it seems like this might be spreading a little bit. I know they're gonna be some teams that won't do it, but is this gonna still pass around the legal? Your move coyotes, you set the tone and they matched your move coyotes, how we getting them back? How are we getting? I think your move would more make sense if you called out another team. It was coyotes. That was your guys doing. Good job. I'm just kinda nitpicking your words here, you prick. No, I'm saying is like a Toronto rebuttal to the coyotes move of trying to get off the Matthews, which was relaxing the dress code. So now the Toronto Maple Leafs have matched that. What are we doing next to bring Austin back? What next to bring them back to bring them back? Yes. I see I'm sorry. I thought you meant it's all part of the plan. What is Matthews have left four years? Who cares bring them home? He's coming home. He's coming home. He actually was like in the game. First shift, he just fucking flying out of the game. Okay, so puck has dropped Austin Matthews back in the lineup, guys, ESPN cover. This is the new wave. This is the. These are the guys that even maybe Jack Hughes not too long ago was looking up to before he was chuck and sticks in the fucking crowd. Holy shit, the new wave is here, folks. The old man yells at cloud is going nuts for this new way. Every bit of energy for it. One of the filthiest goals the patients waiting everyone out, canes on the ice. He's just completely embarrassing the entire three or four players including the goalie on the ice for Chicago ends it. And then it was beautiful. He makes eye contact with the crowd just to soft little toss into the air. People probably grinding for it. Hopefully a kid got it. Hopefully some nice guy didn't catch it snatch it. He gave it to a ten year old, but I don't know, I don't know how I don't know if I remember anyone ever doing that. Mikey said savar did it. I don't remember that. Is that the playoffs? Where I wanted to create a playoffs against the flyers is when Marx of our he scored the overtime winner and then chucked it into the crowd. Hey, so you know what I wanted to do with if I was on TikTok? I was going to do him scoring the goal him running to the crowd throwing it up and then superimposing all New Jersey Devils fans and the scrap and between the cracking fan and the national fan given the amount of people that probably wanted that twig after it got thrown in the crowd. So would that have been a good TikTok finale? What have been a great TikTok went viral on TikTok? But no, a great. Why didn't we do it on our TikTok? I don't know. Don't have the rights. Don't have the rights to the video. Maybe we could reenact another Donny brook. Like gangs of New York. Because it might have been similar to that, people fighting for that jacket. Butcher against sway over the 5 points. That guy's a sickest actor. Now he's in does movies. So he threw his skates in the Hudson. Obviously, talk about the Maple Leafs. They played Ottawa the next night. Sends got a three not held on beat them, but the other news there was Peter muraz, ostensibly one of the Toronto status that he's gonna be able to at least two weeks. So typically fashion that because of their cap crunch, they weren't able to recall a goalie from the AHL. Unless they wanted to make another roster move. So they signed university at Toronto gold, Alex bishop on Saturday, just so they can back up Jack Campbell for that game. They were able to recall Hutchinson Michael Hutchinson on Sunday and get him in the backup. So this team with the E bug stories. And I know you mentioned Carlo kaalia brought up the idea of a soft cap. And I think the least I think the leafs are social media horrors and that's why they're doing it. They wanted to know. Did he strict replied on him? He's like, are you only saying this? No one else is saying that you don't understand it because it's the least. They know each other. No, I think. Carlo, I mean, he's in Toronto. So he's covering the leaves a ton. That's all everybody talks about on the radio there. I go on radio shows there. I'm like, I want to talk about the league. It's like, they asked me about the least nonstop. I'm like, you guys talk about the shit every day. Like, fuck off. I want to talk about other shit. I'm serious. But he's bringing it up for the overall aspect. Should the league be throwing out these beer league goalies in this type of situation? I agree with both sides of it. Yes, people have to be accountable for what they're spending in the cap. And if anything if that goal ends up having to go in the net, it's like, well, that's what you get for fucking not managing your budget. But on the flip side of it, he's saying like, for a few reasons, why not do a soft cap? It's holding certain guys back from getting paid. The biggest reason why I agree with the soft cap and this is how I'm going to explain it is I don't think for a team who was so bad for so long and then all of a sudden does well and accumulating draft picks and ends up developing their own players. And then they can't keep them all because all of a sudden it's like a flat cap, and I get that COVID happened, but it's like, if you fucking drafted and developed those guys and then you can't keep them around because if it's league wide cap situation, it's like, it's like you're constantly trading guys when you're like, oh, are they gonna end up popping off or not? And you're constantly being dealt that hand. So there should be less penalization for people you keep within your organization. And they need to figure out a way to make it all work. Do I have the answer to it? No, I mean, I told you guys, I'm a rocket scientologist. That's it. I'm not a Catholic. I'm not any of this other business. But at a certain point, it kind of correlates in the fact that there should be a budget to not have to put a beer lead guys back up. There should be a fucking guy who's like getting called up from the AHL who's a carpet and goalie in case that NHL goalie goes down. You throw in one of your guys, not some like. But then on the flip side, people are like, oh, you're the old man yelling at cloud. No, I love the story. Like I love that a university kid gets to get chucked in that just like I love like David aris got to get chucked in there. You're just lease him, who just is up against the cap. So it's like, it kind of gets into it got into a bunch of different conversations because of this situation that's happening again in a leafs game. I think the least have a lot to do with it..

Well there is one place called the dublin castle in camden which is not the most notorious place to play. Add the we've never laughed at blaze sober so we've always had good timing that place and it's quite it's got some roll history as well does worry me wayne has used to to her gigs. Arctic monkeys played there a couple of times. It's a really cool place to play. We've played also like borderline. he's one of the biggest venues we played so far. And that was a really really fun. Gig but to me probably my favorite one was The the gave when we released our previous singles which was our last gig That was definitely one of my favorite ones Had a really good time and that was borderline W was in place called the gallery in north london. Which was it was really really cool to play there well it was just a very festive environment. We were just releasing some singles And people were really up for it. think it was like the best kind of moods to play and also because he was the last gig is probably the one that makes it like more like nostalgic. Not a whole lot of geoghegan going on right now let it. All so camden actually is well known for quite active music scene. Yeah yeah yeah definitely. It's good a lot of Lot of history It was the birthplace of punk rock in the seventy s and also a lot of indira going on in the two thousands. It's a really cool place if you ever come to london. We'll take you for a drinking camden jackson. Who why don't you take all these things have to know because It gives it is good to hear begins One i hey. I don't like to travel and do the tourists thing. I like to go where the locals hanging out. And that's the way less way to travel. When i do travel. I'm not really a traveler so don't show up at your front door there. And what about your influences like your sound is really have I'm going say it's heavily with i. I get the seventies feel as a seventy sound but it's a completely unique guys go there's no You can't really put in genre even though you're rock which i would just say rock. You have a lot of flexibility in your sound being able to put great music out regardless you must have seventies influences. Yeah i think we will worship that europe the show disparate in ben's that we like and then we have five laps as well so like i mean familiar. What a model is a like in excess. Michael hutchinson that sort of thing. So i like to try to that where i can and then i know how like elise beef yourself may official big fan of queens age. The thing i think that kind of ripples on through times and you know stas mad about football players louis listens to absolutely everything. I've never met someone recession eclectic taste of music. So i think we're because we quite well Listened in. Broadly listened as well econ that. I think we can't help be eclectic in the music that way that we make in a kind of actually happens. Yeah it's funny. It's funny how you say that. Because i think that we all have our different influences but we can all agree. That seventh is drug has definitely made an impact analysis as well as all the other bands like for example led zeppelin All those bands from that time cream. I love it. Sounded is a very big ginger baker fan as drug so we have very diverse I would say modern influences but we all agree on a lot of seventies bands. And i think that's what makes a band so diverse in suspicion where. I'm so grounded is that we. We have a lot of variety our influences but we we have a lot of similarities as well. I think i think that's a problem that probably the reason That your music is considered In alania ruse rods defying. Because of all. These different influences vote. i. I can't. I can't say any ban that's in rock hasn't had any of those z. Bands affecting but Not often you see all those influences come into bands. "Against average, Natural populated bladder and Marc Andre Fleury Letter has five security 61. You go to Colorado Avalanche, then proceeded to boat race, The Vegas Golden Knights in Game one of the second round. Kenny Albert is a great job on that call. He, of course works at NBC doing the play by play for the National Hockey League and Kenny, are you doing double duty Because I'm hearing most guys they're doing. This series, and then they flying. Go do a serious somewhere else. I mean, are you doing that Same thing? This serious? It's only this rather should say it's only the one Syriza's therefore broadcast crew but in the first round Which is usually the case in prior years as well. The first round I worked three games of Boston, Washington one game, the Pittsburgh and the Islanders and then four games of Tampa, Florida. We're bouncing around a bit in the first round. But during this this second round, it's just the Avalanche and Golden Knights. Well, I mean, you've had a chance to see the other teams that are participating in this postseason. What's your take on what's happening with this Colorado Avalanche club? I mean, they are skating Unbelievable right now. Absolutely. They looked incredible and gave one I had only seen the avalanche on television in the first round, but it was just from from a speed standpoint. I'm not sure I seen another team that could match the Avalanche. Uh, you know, when you look at me from the cannon and The goal that you guys just played the six go over the game. It is lie made for outstanding combining for eight points in Game one. Kill my car had a tremendous night. So it is only one game. It's the best of seven Syriza, but from an avalanche standpoint. You certainly have to, like their chances moving forward. You know, when you were when you were preparing to cover this game, What did you think about the lives having a week off because we always talked about in in sports. Teams that you'll get the time off. It could go one of two ways. Either. You're getting time for guys to heal up or it tends to be too much time because guys can kind of get out of their groove. It didn't look like it affected the avalanche in a negative way at all. No, do not, and it can go both ways right? And it could also go both ways for the team with very little rest. The Golden Knights had played on Friday They were unable to wrap up their series with Minnesota. They had a three games to one lead and Wild one the next two and then they just had to go back home and win the game seven so you could also look at it from their standpoint, Perhaps they carry the momentum over because they have been playing. So many important games or the city could be assassin, And that's certainly look to be the case. It was rest versus Russ, and the rest certainly had the advantage in Game one. As it turned out, you know, I'm almost feel like any of that. This team is stating like the desperate like this is their last best shot to win the Stanley Cup because we know we have the expansion draft coming up. We have Gandal Landeskog with The end of his contract coming up, he'll be a free agent. And so we grew power. He'll be a free agent. And so this team won't be the same next year. So do you sense that with teams or do you say that you know this just normal part of the NHL? You know, sometimes you just have the feeling when you watch them that this is their year And you know, that could certainly be the case with the Avalanche the last two years. Ah, lot of people thought they would go further than they did, losing in the second round to San Jose. In 2019. And then last year I was in the bubble. I wasn't Edmondson and I thought we were looking ahead at a at an avalanche Golden Knights conference final last year. And the ads were just decimated by injuries. First they lost Groove hour and then France owes Eric Johnson got hurt that Calvert and a couple of others so By the time they got down to Game seven against Dallas, they had Michael Hutchinson, who played well, but he was the first friend goaltender s O many other key players out of the lineup. So The injuries were certainly a factor. I think if if healthy they were a better team than Dallas, and the Stars wound up reaching the Stanley Cup finals. So the last two years, you could certainly make a case that the Avalanche We're good enough to go further than they did, Um, and again in this serious it's only one game. The Golden Knights had the same number of points of the ass did during the regular season. The season. Syria's was so close each team with four wins, so a lot could still happen. If the Golden Knights win tomorrow you go home with momentum. 112 are crazy building in Vegas, but from an AB standpoint. When you look at, you know, from the goaltender on outgrew Power today named Divisional Trophy finalist Kelm. A car, you know, has a nun believable career ahead of them, one of the top defenseman in the NHL already In a second full season. Nathan, the kid in You know you could put it right up there in the top three arguably could be the best player in the NHL, but definitely in the top three. On granted in Atlanta. Scott right on down the line, so such a fun team to watch and I can't wait for Game two tomorrow night. Can you been doing this a long time and you talked about obviously last year was just the strangest thing ever as as they competed in the bubble, and they did the same thing in in the MBA. But but this year, it's also been weird. I mean it. Teams played just teams in their division throughout the regular season, and we we kind of saw that again in these first two rounds of the playoffs, and then it's gonna be like a reset. Yeah, I still don't get the logic about how we did that. But I mean, it's the reset, and then we've still got to figure out how we're gonna play Canadian teams and vice versa. How we're going to travel there. And Howard, they're going to travel here. I mean, I know they're getting this worked out, but it seems like I thought they would have had this worked out already. Well, they continue to have discussions with the Canadian government. A Zafar is what's going to happen in the next round..

You don't for all of them, and we also give them security details for a very long time, along with some of their family member. I think I think they should have that otherwise who would run for president? Right, because they're a target, no matter how beloved they are, or whatever. I mean, they're a target, so I think they should have it. I think they have it for life now, and I don't think that should be although there are people saying that should be taken away. From President Trump because they just want to punish him in every way they can, You know, And I think that would be wrong. But I'll ask Senator Gary Peters about that because he's coming up in 8 18. First time we've actually talked to him since his election, reelection and incoming now as chairman of the Homeland Security. Council and and we'll talk about that. And the impeachment proceedings. Which U S A Today is and they've never been a fan of President Trump. But they say early signs hint acquittal and I think that that's true. I think they're being acquittal, and I just wonder about the waste of time and money and the stalling of getting to the problems that we face as a country. And the problems we face as a country is not a guy who's no longer president. Out there, though he is feared by many in the world of politics. We have some very real problems because of the pandemic because of the amount of money that we've been Doling out because of the companies that have been lost family businesses. Gone forever. I mean, there's a lot to do. In Washington, and for that matter in Lansing, that we ought to get to it and be holding everyone so feet to the fire. I think at least I agree there's a lot to be done. Meanwhile, This is one of our listeners pointed this out much earlier and it's it bears repeating. That this is the day in 1945 during World War two. Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration camps, Osh wits and Birkenau in Poland. Hard to imagine. That these places existed and continued to exist and exterminate people the way they did. It's just Hard to imagine that pulled the curtain back and really people, you know, because there were deniers then as well as to what was really happening, and that pulled the curtain backs for us the whole world to really face the reality of the horror. That it happened in unfolded in Europe at the time, we have other realities, not nearly as important, but facing reality. As you put it is something that in 1998 First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton on this day on the Today show, NBC's today show. Charged the sexual misconduct allegations against her husband, President Bill Clinton, were the work of a quote vast right wing conspiracy. End of quote. We obviously.

"michael hutchinson" Discussed on Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM

"Weeks into the season and then See where they're the ABS around health wise and But that's just a nice little just like kill. My car was Just a nice, little like one and be cool, and this guy gets called up. But it's not the focus of the ABS, right? Because again, the ABS don't need Bo Bayram to win the Stanley Cup. They have what they need right now. To be in contention. And to that end Joe Sakic spoke today about the expectations internally. For this Colorado Avalanche team. Clip one from Joe Sakic, Man. If you don't mind, well, expectations kept growing growing over the last couple years, and we are at the point I'd like to hear from our players in our coaching staff. We expect to keep compete for the sound the cup down the year. Um, we want a horse that over his and That's our goal. We know it's gonna be tough. Well, there's a lot of teams that have the same same goal here and a lot of parody in the league, But we feel in I'm more importantly, The players feel that, uh, it was good a chance as anybody else in that sector expectation, like hear that from them. And Ryan texting yesterday and I was intentionally saving his tax for today, knowing that Joe Sakic That we were going to get to hear from him. And as we get a little bit closer to opening night, I wanted to save his question, and Ryan asked. Ah! What my thoughts were on the hype for the Avalanche says. I feel like it's been like this The last two years we get overhyped than underperform in the playoffs. Talk out of camp is cup or bust and Joe Sakic in a very political way. Just basically said that same thing. Right. They believe That they can win the Stanley Cup and I have to push back a little bit at that assertion. Does the Avalanche didn't disappoint two years ago. They didn't disappoint. I mean, they basically ended up falling short of playing for Western Conference final. Because of Gabriel Landeskog skate. I mean, that's how close they were, in my opinion to playing for the Western Conference finals, so They certainly exceeded expectation two years ago last year I think it was more local hype. Then it Woz National. Yes, we were disappointed about the way that they have season ended. All right, Look, you get to goal, both of your goaltenders. Go down there down him. You know Michael Hutchinson and You have all these guys banged up and everything like that. You know, it was a tall task to beat up beat 18 like Dallas. And Dallas to their credit. Wait exactly the way they needed to play against the APS. Overall, a very young team. Young teams can get frustrated easily, and you saw it a lot with Nathan McKinnon. In that Syria's got very frustrated. So I think that this team did need to do some maturing. Not that they were immature, but just another going through that adds to the maturation process. I think if they don't win the Stanley Cup There will be a lot of surprise and there will be a lot of disappointment and I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't because I look at this team and I say They can and Taking compete for the Cup. So this is really With the caveat of the injuries last year. Yes, I think they fell short of expectations because I expected it to be Vegas and Colorado in the Western Conference finals. We didn't get that. So I think they fell short of expectations, but the reason they fell short. I think Weston's the disappointment. After A few months of Going over it right. I mean, they didn't give Dallas their best shot in terms of having their full complement of players. If this team is healthy. And this team bows out again. In the second round, then it will be a disappointment. And first and foremost a disappointment to the players. Because they truly believe That they can win a Stanley Cup. One other thing I wanted to play from. Joe Sakic he mentioned at the beginning of his zoom call with us in the media today. How the team is going to do a moment of silence for Pierre Look quad tomorrow night. They're going to be wearing patches honoring pair Look, Wa Sakic lamented the fact that fans won't be there at Bal Arena, too. Help honor Architect of this franchise. No, certainly have something's playing for the season opener next year. To honor him. More and more we've started to make compares sins between Joe Sakic NPR Laquan. How soft spoken. They are. How they love to do their business in the dark of night. Not a lot of leaks coming out of the Avalanche franchise with Pierre Laquan charge and now with Joe Sakic. And while Here. Look, watch always landed the big names. Right, even if you weren't a big time hockey fan You knew the names. You know Paul Korea. Teemu Selanne E. Ray board Rob Blake. Jocelyn Thibault. You knew at the time you knew these guys. With Joe Sakic. He makes big moves, but they're big moves that have to be appreciated by hockey fans because the Casual fan is not going to know. Like Brandon Sod's gonna ring a bell. Event. Aves is somebody that you gotta do a little bit research on because you say tapes and you're like, Wait is a drop in tapes now is John Fuentes Brother? No, It's a different tastes different family, not related. Different position. All that kind of stuff. Devin Davis is a sneaky, great move. And the longer Joe Sakic stays on this job, the more He reminds you a pair Laquan the way he goes about his business, and Joe Sakic was asked about the impact of Pierre Luc Wa. On it his career as a general manager so far. That's what you want is a player. You know you want me all you want to know you have the ability to try and win the cup. That's every player's ultimate dream and appear did.

Avalanche Force Game 7 Against Stars

"Yeah. The Avalanche weren't ready to leave the NHL's bubble last night. The star struck first towards the end of the first period. But the AB struck back with four on answered goals. One by that score of 4 to 1 to force a Game seven on Friday. Head just shared beds are like his team closed out the game. It's their period really good purpose to our game, so I would say up there was I mean, there's always a factor of how much guts is involved. I thought I thought you guys really show it out, too. Try to accomplish, you know, taking this thing to Game seven Nikita's door. I've got the scoring going. Is he not in the game up with less than a minute in the first came a car with what turned out to be the game winner in the second middle rant and added one of the third of the nation. McKinnon's goal late slammed the door shut. It was the 14th straight game. The team's best score scored a point going, Michael Hutchinson stopped all but one of 28 shots he faced and now the absolute could become Just the 30th team in NHL history to come back from a 31 deficit and one a seven game series tomorrow night and

Avs ride 5-goal 1st period to 6-3 win over Stars in Game 5

"Yeah, the Avalanche trying to follow the Nuggets lead, so to speak and climb out of a 31 hole in their second round series with stars, they showed they might be able to do it with last night's thrilling 63 win. Colorado scored five goals in the first period, four of which came in just two minutes and 36 seconds. But the story the night may have actually been between the pipe for the ABS, where the team's third goalie Michael Hutchinson, made his first career playoff start, 30 year old Journeymen said it was a dream come true. That's what you work for. You know when your kid dies in dream of playing the back areas playing the Stanley Cup playoffs, so like for myself, I was excited and I was looking forward to the opportunity to get a chance to play under Bukovsky score two goals in the game, including the one in the first he was joined In that scoring barrage by Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Zim Qadri and Pierre Edouard Belmar Puck drop in tomorrow's Game six and badminton set for six o'clock. How Zamboni Driver Helped Carolina Hurricanes Win Big Game

"We can't begin the show without talking about the biggest story to hit hockey since what out. Foster Scott Foster. Probably the Glorious Song I don't know so. What was the last hockey story to get on the today? Show Leyla Anderson. Probably and you know what's interesting about it to me. I mentioned Scott Foster. Is that happened two years ago and one of the more interesting things the way he handled in the blackhawks handle is he got all these requests. He was asked to go on Jimmy Kimmel and the Today Show People magazine. And he turned it all down because he wanted to be about the franchise throat. Meanwhile Dave Ayers technically property of the Carolina Hurricanes Right now. We know they don't say Tom. I'm going to rename top golf. Airs Ball David Errors. Of course is the forty two year old goalie from Whitby Ontario pro previously experienced in the Allan Cup Hockey League where he played for the Norwood Vipers. For Eight Games He was the is the Zamboni Goal Zamboni driver for the Toronto Police H. L. Affiliate the Toronto Marlies He became just the third emergency goaltender in the modern era to play in the NHL when he went out and played for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Toronto Maple leafs on Saturday evening the marlies Zamboni driver playing for the enemy and You know he beat the leafs as everybody knows but are you surprised that the like the hurricanes if there was any team in the league where I was like. This is a team that could play that. Well in front of Amateur goaltender like maybe Dallas would be the number one. Maybe the islanders would be just by the systems they play but Carolina basically saying you. Don't get the PUCK ANYMORE TO THE TORONTO. Maple leafs was something. That was entirely predictable in this. In this scenario my opinion I don't think the hurricanes got enough credit for this guy getting the win one hundred even like after the Game Rod. Rod brindamour comes into the locker room. Talk about how the team played in front of that guy for that guy. Four David eyres eight. Which is an incredible thing. And you know what I was just talking about. Who Remembering when his team had a goalie. That didn't show up. She showed up late so they they had to play six on five. Like we couldn't score a goal on the empty night. Even I mean it's amazing. How the mind works how. The effort level works in that Carolina Hurricanes team. You can't say enough about. I Mean David. Eyres only had eight eight eight saves on ten shots. I mean you know you put a lot of guys in the net with a a modicum of of skill In the position and have that performance in front of them. They're going to have some success so all the credit to him for stepping in there and getting in front of pox but man that I mean Jake Gardner was just laying out out there. I mean it was unbelievable to watch imagine if Michael Hutchinson head that Michael Hutchinson now property of the Colorado Avalanche. Because of course we're going to talk about the trade deadline. But you know I think the reason why this story resonates with so many people is that in the little child and all of us. It's the dream of a fairytale at forty two years old. He's the second oldest player ever to make his. Nhl Debut. And I guess just to put a tie on this as we get into the trade deadline talk. Think BACK TO MEETING SCOTT. Foster one year after his big day where he was the accountant. Ben Saved what was it? Fourteen minutes of scoreless hockey for the Chicago Blackhawks against the then mighty would peg jets and you know he didn't do any interviews for a year and he said at one point. I called it the incident and I had to tell myself just because you take advantage of an opportunity doesn't mean you can enjoy it so I'm just glad that day there is enjoying and enduring with all of us because we all seem to be enjoying it
