"Don't know I feel like big sky Montana I mean if you look at communities like that for example the Yellowstone community which is on the back of big sky on they have their own ski resort And Lincoln Lincoln Montana with the fly fishing going on there Yeah these kind of places are unfair to put in the running for the most expensive cities to live in They're not really cities to begin with But you know what I wonder how much are taxes on a place like that I don't know I remember living in Chicago though near Indian hills country club and taxes on a $1 million home were in the vicinity of a couple $100,000 a year I mean it's insane Yeah Hello Wow come to New Jersey We'll talk taxes with anybody All right Greg Jarrett thank you so much We appreciate it One of the many things that I don't understand about this pandemic and the economic disruption resulting from it is this whole thing about the great resignation these three four 5 million workers Who are they Where did they go How did they do it And I really don't have to get so lucky How did they catch it Look I'm thinking about Dave Wilson Bloomberg's former stocks editor I blame him I put him in that bunch but I mean our next guest worked here for 30 years If you work someplace for 30 years plus you're incredibly smart you save well you invest well you should retire Okay All right all right I just said where are you going buddy Michael Hansen he says CEO of sen gage group Michael who are these people where did they go Are they coming back to the workforce Yeah thanks for having me And actually the example that you said the retiring people are the minority of these people The vast majority of those people that are resigning are actually reassessing their career They're saying what don't I like about my current job And what do I want to go next And about 83% of them feel that their current job is not really supporting their career and is not supporting them Yeah that's why I say you know he should be retiring If you have a 30 year career and you do very well and retire that's no surprise The great resignation is weird in that people who you wonder how do they have enough money to quit their jobs or doing it And one of the points that you make Michael is that they're actually making financial sacrifices They're not retiring to Indian hills and playing 18 holes a day They're doing other stuff Exactly And this is why this is actually good news in a way These people are courageous They take risks and what they say is I want to learn another skill and I want to get a better job that gives me more satisfaction and better pay And that is something that actually should give us great confidence in the future and great conviction in the American labor force In a way Michael they're shaking up the job market as well You know the courage of those people which is what I hear you saying is forcing employers to do better in terms of the wages they offer in terms of working conditions in terms of dealing with the working class Absolutely The only thing I would add other than what you said is the employer should think about also about how they re skill and upskill their workforce What can they do to give them education and training and give them opportunities while they're working to get better skills to get a better job and better pay They don't have to wait until they resign They can do it when they're actually employees Michael Matt and I have to come into the office every day We don't have an option per se But it seems like we are very much the outliers in this new world order Are you in the camp that says we are now in a permanent hybrid type of environment I mean the cannonballs first of all let's not stipulate what the future is going to hold We got to go open there We got to learn And we're going to learn what works and what doesn't work And I am however I believe that we're not going to go back to the old world that everybody has to show up in the office at 9 a.m. on Monday morning That's not where we're going to go Where we're going to end up is going to be a hybrid model but how are we going to mix it How we have technology influences I think it's open and what I recommend to other CEOs that are we are a four and a half thousand people company We're experimenting a lot And we're learning from each other and keeps that open mindset Yeah I mean I would point out that it would be technologically possible for me to do this job for a moment Because we pick up so much from our colleagues here we discuss stories In the midst of breaking news are we going to be able to do that online eventually Michael what do you think about the possibility of working in the metaverse I don't think we've got it in the foreseeable future I don't think we're going to be doing this online I think we've got to find the right blend and the right mix And you use some great examples when you bump into colleagues you share stories And think about somebody just joining a company you've never worked for this company and how do you get a sense of what the culture is like If you don't have a cup of coffee with people or share a meal or bump into the water cooler So I do think hybrid that finding the right mix of face to face and online is going to be the wave of the future Hey Michael thanks so much for joining us there Michael Hansen CEO of sen gage group talking about the great resignation All right folks February is black history month in every day this month We are celebrating significant moments in U.S..

"Why can see how the song is popular in remains popular. Thank you very much appreciate that. We were lucky to have a bit of a revival of last year. Twenty nineteen who's rotating on radio for a little bit in the ontario is pretty good. Song came back a bunch more strange for us and when you're talking to stream talking spotify yes butterfly everything Alpe music as well. Okay great so you need newest releases to talk about Aucas twenty twenty reached a bit of happier drag than burn I might be wrong about that but it seems that heavier to me The song was Is for you Has that song. Jesus deal when we first start playing. That tune was like twenty seventeen thousand eight hundred eighty eight. We never played it. Played it but we actually like pre-production demoted a couple of times Back yet Would've been we. Were demoing it and then i think when we had a bit of time off from some shows we we started to put it together in the hersal studio. Jeff was a huge advocate for that song for a long time. Yeah yeah it's a song. That kind of before jeff joined full-time man. We had a different drummer. Who is actually the gentleman who introduced us to luke. And i had the song and i it was you know that chorus has been there since the beginning. It was one of the first parts of the song. I really liked it on the riff. Was you know very nineties. Kind of rock feel and dylan like the space. He had sort of play so we started trying to finish it and we had this five and a half minute song that just kept going verse chorus verse chorus guitar solo verse chorus. It's like this seems very long and very mundane so we download it out. We never used it And then once jeff started being able to play with us again and again in things worked out he he. He was able to joining in full-time He was always an advocate. As dylan said for we should try to finish the song. It's not finished. And it's got a lot of potential so and we were all on board with it and we kept working at it and his sort of addition to the playing feel and and you know also his songwriting chops and whatnot. We like okay. Well we probably don't need this third verse here at the end we can probably come out of whatever. This midsection is back into a big chorus ending. We can probably throw you know a nice long guitar solo in there may be. This may be that it was about a year. Maybe if pre pro dylan then we finally ready to cut it. We have Batch of other songs and we kind of did them. Altogether dylan sat there for like almost two full days. On this song and a pedal board he was sitting on his knees on the on the floor indus turning knobs in just licking strings not even hitting the notes of the song he would just flick strings and start playing with knobs and staff. It's like oh that sounds cool. We can probably berry this very that like it was the song that we kind of spent the most attention to detail in like enjoyed our whole not having to pay by the hour setup. We were working with at the time for the for the project and the it was. It was a good experience for me. Personally you know the producer we worked with michael hansen. He's you know he's a vocals guy m than he had some success in the eighties with glass tiger. You know. and he's done a lot since with song writing and and like i said he's a vocals guy and he got really really good. Takes out of me. That was by far and away the most exhausting vocal session. I've had in the studio but it went very very well and we're super happy with it. In the midst of the the crap storm that was the pandemic last year. We release this song without any tour support. Which is new for us like it was a lot of bands and It did well it was it's been our best streaming song out of the gate And it's still doing pretty well and we can't wait till we can throw it in our lives set and play it. There were lucky our fans pretty like they pulled out for us and we definitely had our best streaming year on the back of not being able to play a stage interview. Ask anybody in this band. We are alive band first and foremost to have such a kind of a reach out on our streaming numbers was Was awesome yeah. She shouted to everybody. Who's been following supporting the band for sure. It got a lot of playlist love from people we know who would throw it on their playlists in that. You know it ends up on someone's workout list. helps us. You know and we really appreciate everybody who helped us make. This song was despite us not being able to. Do we normally do. Also despite you know no help from spotify or apple music and a lot of people get put on these official playlists and we. We haven't been on anything so it's all been independent and really That blows my mind. Yeah there's this one music at you. Music is good guys. Don't thank you. it's it's hard though it's it's it's a vacuum right. It's this huge wall of white noise. Anybody in everyone can submit to these playlists. You gotta go through it and and it's like anything it's like radio now right streaming is the main thing you gotta back in the day. There is huge will even now. There's this huge radio tracker campaigns like few on a song on the top one hundred and billboard your label better have a quarter million dollars you know like that's just how it is And streaming is becoming that so there's a lot of mid level and high level labels who are pushing their songs through so if there's one hundred spots on the list you really only going for about thirty and of those thirty you're going up against thousands and thousands and thousands of bands in the world who are independent but have these viral songs with millions of hits on them so every time they released on they get a spot as they should so. It's it's very hard to get onto those lists. Are buddies toronto band. The crooked they got onto a spotify curated playlist. I think what two years ago bill would awesome to see. We were just like an even when i talked to their singer. J. c. like had that happen. He's like dude. It's it was the most right place at the right time story. Ever but guess what they were there. The music did the talking. And that's that's how it goes so we want to give a huge shout to this There's a playlist curator name beth anderson. She's independent but all her playlists have like you know. Twenty thousand plus likes followers on them and her playlists have been where burn is for you and our latest not your average sunday morning the like the most traction have been off her playlists. And we're very grateful for her for helping us. Have our best dreaming year in the middle of pandemic possum. What is the name of our fighters. Vander sohn are nishizawa number them. I'd have to look at them By i'd love to maybe send them to you. Afterwards when we can add it to the to the episode There's been a few different ones one of them. I think was called party vibe or something. I don't know and that was one burn was on. There was another like summer playlist one or whatever. But i'd have to look at with the names. I'd love to send them. Jimmy hall added to the show coup. That'd be great. Funding supports Independent music is part of my fan club. For sir yes okay. So we're going to listen to is for you. My son is graduating from the You and I would love to do something special and unique for a small graduation party at our house this summer, thinking about 25 people. I mean, I don't know if you want to go with cocktails or not, but they're all easy. You know, They're kind of like tap cocktails and things like that, that they quick, poor, But I would say that you know there is ah lot of fun food trucks to that you could Diogo I know that, like Allie Kaplan at her had jinx bubble tea. That's a fun. One kids, you know, garments, and that was I thought was a great one, too. I mean teens. I guess they're young adults love bubble tea, So that would be fun. I would say. Also get a keg like, just get a king. If you want to do something fun for those kids, we've gotten kegs before the past and just sort of had him sitting on the deck and It's you'll probably still have beer left. But if you get a pony keg, it might be kind of a fun idea. Your friend Simeon, his business is called La la la la la. Equal parts cocktail company, equal parts. They have a hand built custom curated cocktail menu, and they have a cute little trailer. Yes, also be beat. Vodka has a travel bar. I don't know if people know that their local Minnesota company and they serve up drinks out of this cute little, um Tep. Yeah. Situation to think it's great, Super cute. 6516411 All 71. I found one of my old old house, but You have to, But I mean, like, one like I always find like one. And then I'm like, Wow, This is so the novel to slice a piece for you. And for us the tally ho. I have to tell you that there's you know, there's sort of this thing of, and I just you guys now like if you are on my Facebook page, or even if you're on our Facebook page like we welcome any kind of dissent of, you know discussions and he started feelings as long as you never you don't call people names and as long as you don't attack others, someone called Michael Hansen pathetic for something on my nose, and I said I liked treat because you said you liked treats, and I thought he almost got band. But you know, treats are good. These are good. How do you feel about this lottery that they're doing in Ohio? Where if you get the vax, you get entered into a million dollar lottery and they're going to give away $5 million at five separate times. I don't know. Seems like it's a real try hard. I know somebody. Some of that mind said You know what you should do is you should do more at like 10,000. It shouldn't be the million because you know, people are kind of like it feels so, like, feels like so unreachable. But like, what if you were, what if they have, like 50 Prices of $10,000.10,000 dollars can Or even why these persons of various seen event at a brewery and everyone that got backs ended that day was entered to win 1000 bucks. "You in that way as well so again. Thank you and we'll talk you next time this show for those of you that. Do watch or listen regularly. You know that most of the time. We talk about overcoming trials in life and overcoming difficulties in life and dealing with traumas and dealing with obstacles and dealing with all of the things that we all have to deal with in life. We share great stories and testimonials and we're always thankful for the opportunity to do that once in a while though we take of a different turn and it's good to get different perspectives on so many of the issues going on in the world and in our lives last a couple of weeks. We talked to The development director for the mighty experimentation and talked about really what that means why that's important in how all of that works and It's always fascinating to me to hear where people come from. The different things got in their lives to bring them to a point where they can be used where they are right now. This is so important for us to understand. Of course we talked about that and is a show similar to that today. We have michael hansen. Michael is the coo's chief operating officer operations officer for the foundation and Michael you've been with us for almost six months six months. Yep yes slimfast fine by fast as you're crazy a great year to join a new organization. Oh yeah i mean it's it's It's been an honor. See stay six months but it feels like one not because of code. We are very busy here and it's been a it's been a blessing and a lot of what you've done in the last six months really is is looking over what we don't up to this point and kind of who we are where we are end up rejecting how to go forward and i think that's the business analyst part of me it was It's a lot of fun to be able to come and take a look at my yolks. I think what i've learned so far is is really what a great job he has done so far. Have that's always relief. Some say that just because you're on the show but no there's there's always those scary skeletons you discover. Go through this process and Those skeletons don't exist. I'm glad you get great. "I can see how the song is popular in commands popular. Thank you very much appreciate that. We were lucky to have a bit of a revival of would have been last year. Twenty nineteen was rotating on radio for a little bit in the areas is pretty good. Song came back out a bunch more strange for us. And when you're talking to strange talking spotify spotify everything alpa music as well. Okay great so you need news releases Talk about August twenty twenty. Reach that a bit of happier track than burn I might be wrong about that but it seems that heavier to me The song was is for you. has that song. Jeez deal when we first start playing that tune. I was like twenty seventeen ornie twenty in radio we never like played. It played it. But we actually like pre-production demoted a couple of times Back yet would have been. We were demoing it. And then i think when we had a bit of time off from some shows we we started to put it together in the hersal studio. Jeff was a huge advocate for that song for a long time. Yeah yeah it's a song. That kind of before jeff joined full-time man. We had a different drummer. Who is actually the gentleman who introduced us to luke in. I had the song and i it. Was you know that chorus has been there. Since the beginning it was one of the first parts of the song. I really liked it on the riff. Was you know very nineties. Kind of rock. Feel and dylan like spacey. Had sort of play so we started trying to finish it in. We had this five and a half minute song that just kept going verse chorus verse chorus guitar solo verse chorus. It's like the seems very long and very mundane so we download it out. We never used it. And then once jeff started being able to play with us again and again in things worked out he he. He was able to joining in full-time. He was always an advocate. As dylan said for we should try to finish the song. It's not finished. And it's got a lot of potential so and we were all on board with it and we kept working at it and his sort of addition to the playing feel and and you know also his songwriting chops and whatnot. Okay well we probably don't need this third verse here at the end we can probably come out of whatever. This midsection is back into a big chorus ending. We can probably throw you know a nice long guitar solo in there. Maybe this maybe that it was about a year. Maybe if pre pro dylan and then we finally ready to cut it. We have that in a batch of other songs and we kind of did them. Altogether dylan sat there for like almost two full days on this song and a pedal board and he was sitting on his knees on on the floor and just turning knobs in just licking strings. Not even hitting the notes of the song he would just flick strings and start playing with knobs and stuff. And it's like oh that sounds cool. We can probably berry this very that like it was the song that we kind of spent the most attention to detail in like enjoyed our whole not having to pay by the hour setup we were working with at the time for the for the project warn the it was. It was a good experience for me personally. You know the producer we worked with michael hansen. He's you know he's a vocals guy m than he had some success in the eighties with glass tiger. You know he's done a lot since with song writing and like i said he's a vocals guy and he got really really good takes out of me. That was by far and away the most exhausting vocal session. I've had in the studio but it went very very well and we're super happy with it. In the midst of the the crap storm that was the pandemic last year. We released a song without any tour support. Which is new for us like it was a lot of bands and It did well it was it's been our best streaming song out of the gate And it's still doing pretty well and we can't wait till we can throw it in our live set and play it. There were lucky our fans pretty like they pulled out for us and we definitely had our best streaming. You're on the back of not being able to play stage interview. Ask anybody in this band. We are alive band first and foremost to have such a kind of a reach out on our streaming numbers was Was awesome yeah. She shouted to everybody. Who's been following supporting the band for sure. It got a lot of playlists love from people we know who just would throw it on their playlists in that. You know it ends up on someone. Someone's workout list than it helps us. You know and we really appreciate everybody who helped us make this song. It was despite us not being able to do we normally do. Also despite you know no help from spotify or apple music and a lot of people get put on these official playlists and we. We haven't been on anything so it's all been independent That blows my mind. Yeah there's this one music at you. Music is good guys on thank you. It's it's hard though it's it's it's a vacuum right. It's this huge wall of white noise. Anybody everyone can submit to these playlists. You gotta now these generators have to go through it and and it's like anything. It's like radio now right. Streaming is the main thing you gotta back in the day. There is a huge will. Even now there's this. Huge radio tracker campaigns like few on a song on the top one hundred and billboard. Your label better have a quarter million dollars you know like that's just how it is And streaming is becoming that so there's a lot of mid level and high level labels who are pushing their songs through so if there's one hundred spots on the list you're really only going about thirty and of those thirty you're going up against thousands and thousands and thousands of bands in the world who are independent but have these viral songs with millions of hits on them so every time they release on the spot as they should. So it's it's very hard to get onto those lists. are buddies. Toronto band the crooked they got onto a spotify Curated playlist think what two years ago. Del would awesome to see. We were just like an even when i talked to their singer. J. c. like had that happen. He's like dude. It's the most right place at right time story ever but guess what they were there in. The music did the talking. And that's that's how it goes so we want to give a huge shout out to this There's a playlist curator name beth anderson. She's independent but all her playlists have like twenty thousand plus likes and followers on them and her playlists have been where burn is for you and our latest not your average sunday morning the like the most traction have been off her playlists and we're very grateful for her for helping us have our best streaming year in the middle of pandemic possum. What is the name of our finances. Vannerson are nishizawa number of them. I'd have to look at them I'd love to maybe send them to you afterwards. And we can add it to the to the episode There's been a few different ones one of them. I think was called party vibe or something. I don't know and that was one burn was on. There was another like summer playlist one or whatever. But i'd have to look at with the names. I'd love to send them to me hall attitude the coup. What be funny that supports Independent music is part of my fan club. For sure moya okay. We're gonna listen to is for you. Accent.
