"Mayor of Denver is, you know, this is bigger important in this goes to sort of the essence of, of proper relationships between men and women because I think Michael Hancock is the most overtly, and I'm sure there's all sorts of stuff going on behind closed doors. We don't know about, but Michael Hancock is the most overtly, sexist major political figure thinking, my forty five or forty eight or whatever number of years, it spending Colorado. Love your thoughts on that. Eight five five four zero five two five five. We're talking about this now because of the bizarre series of events over the last twenty two hours or so which starts with Michael Hancock last night. Night in what Ryan labels of very cocky, way, I'm trying to decide whether she's at this point overconfident or whether he's feeling desperate because his sexism is hurting him. But one way or the other it was a bizarre performance last night in this Denver post debate where he responds to the criticism about his sexting, a subordinate remember, this is a married mayor does that matter to people anymore. I think it should this is a married mayor repeatedly Sexton, a subordinate trying to seduce her and last night. He drops his defense on his his defenses. She wanted it. So here's the setup story from nine news. And then we'll tell you about what happened afterwards. What just happened about two and a half minutes ago? So has he blown this election?.

"Nine. We are visiting with mayor Michael Hancock, the mayor of Denver. Of course. I just thought it through. Somebody didn't know you were we talked about homelessness. We talked about the minimum wage one of the other things. I wanted to bring up was I have gotten a little fool of little pop of emails for people here saying some variation of for years. I would come downtown for anniversary to spend money to go to restaurants. And now there are a lot of people who just won't give it a chance anymore. Yeah. They're they're done. And I will tell you the last time we went downtown. We have great time. But we did have to navigate that we were walking from the restaurant to where we were going to see a concert, and we had to navigate that sort of you know, landscape of of of of human refuge. I is the nicest way, I can put it. How do you? What do you say to those people who say I've given up? Yeah. It's unfortunate because Denver and our downtown is still one of the safest neighborhoods in the entire city. And the reality is, you know, we have a city that is, you know, investing heavily to address the issue. Homelessness. We recognize we have homeless in our city. And and the reality is is that the service providers are all primarily based in downtown been there lobbying in the sixteenth street mall for over one hundred years. And so that's why you see more of the homeless in the area because they're receiving services. But the reality is that we are working to address we've got outreach workers out there. We have a great deal of police officers or in the area. And you're you're you're in visiting one the safest areas in the city, but as safe as one thing. Obviously, if you don't wanna, you know, those might be people who are saying I just don't want to see homeless, and then you know, some to deal with aggressive. We do have aggressive panhandling that we try to address that. That's why we have the police officers who are in the area to address that issue with the homeless and to make sure that we don't have that. But you know, it happens, and it's unfortunate. But just know this is a city just trying to address. And and we certainly encourage people come down. I come down all the time. But I.

"Own Denver mayor Michael Hancock who is there. Good morning. Good morning, April. Good morning Marty. Have you? We'll talk about some of those issues. But I thought it was interesting house speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke to your group yesterday. Did she talk about the shutdown? What did she say? Yes, she, you know, she framed it very well in terms of what really is at stake here. And that, you know, particularly regarding the wall that it's really not a border. I mean, a security element that works, and that they're much more innovative and smart ways to increase our border security, which the Democrats want to do. But you gotta get this government back open and moving forward and making sure our federal employees and get back to work families are being impacted a nation is being impacted. You know, I'm reading this morning watching on the news about our airports and how our air traffic controllers are now concerned about their. To keep everyone say, this is just had this is nonsense. And we got an ended as quickly as possible. So I imagine mayor you were commiserating with the other mayors about how the shutdowns impacted each of your individual cities any stories you want to share and reveal that that, you know, people maybe could really understand what most mayors are talking about how their resident federal employees are being impacted, and you know, and how they are going to try to do whatever they can't similar to what Denver Dan in terms of our temporary mortgage assistance program try to move in and help their residents. Not a lot of the cities have the same tool that Denver has to deploy as you know, we have that written our budget. So they're more concerned about how they can provide some of the other support services for their resident or citizen, federal employees. It's it's devastating right now. And we're more concerned as we inch closer to the end of the month and another missed paycheck for federal employees paycheck tomorrow. We just had the city of Thornton. They're doing something creative where they're, you know, letting people not pay their water bills for thirty days is the city of Denver looking at doing even more. I guess down the road is this continues April. You might recall, we we announced the temporary mortgage assistance program that also includes utility assistance medicine available to all of our residents. So if they followed and find themselves behind in water would be included in utilities, so that's available for them as well. They can come back and not only get their mortgage covered in and get some assistance there. But also with their utilities, you've talked about this before sometimes the federal government and the nation's can can look at actual mayors in the city because you and act a lot of the policies you have to find solutions. You can't just shut things down. You got to find solutions doubt about the Susan's Marty? So well said we don't have that option. You can't shut down and picking up a tragic shut down your police officers or your police department. Our federal your fire department. You can't shut down the road improvement. We've got to respond by law every one of us have a balanced budget requirements, and we we have to deploy the services, but let me just. Make one thing asshole very clear, we're closer to the people. So and we are the same people. We don't get the chance to get away to DC and be disconnected from Arkansas tissue. That's not something we desire, and that's something. That's why we're mayors. Thanks so much for the few minutes. We got with you. You bet. Take care. Bye. Mayor hancock. Thank you for your time. Eight fifteen.
