"Is that great the money? Wow. Buggy, I'll research. I need you to find out what would that tag number be over the next two years? I want our audience to know what Lamar would make in those franchises. We'll find that out and we'll get back to it, but either way, it's a really interesting clarification and information that Adam's putting out there. You know, the guaranteed money is somewhere in that range. Do they go higher? The ravens will find out. And by the way, Lamar Jackson's a dang good agent for himself. I think that's what's important. Thank you. All right, another piece of good news for the ravens. Marcus Peters came off the pup list and practiced a memory towards ACL last season. Let's get to the jets and Zach Wilson. As Adam told us off the top, Wilson's arthroscopic knee surgery expected to determine whether he will miss closer to the two or the four weeks or could it be longer they could find the knee as worse than they thought when doctors get in there during surgery are injury analyst Stefani bell pointed us out on Twitter sometimes details don't fully reveal themselves until actual visual inspection in surgery. But here's the thing, here's the problem with Wilson missing reps in both practice and pre season entering year two last year's number two overall pick struggles mightily in his rookie season ranking 30th until the QBR and last among all qualified quarterbacks in both completion percentage and yards for drop back. He needs the Rhett, so Marcus given Wilson struggles last season. How concerned should the jets be with sacrals and just missing these reps over the next few weeks? Very much so. One, this is a young football team that they're trying to build. They lost macaques and which I think is huge. I think he could have been a dominant force. I believe the jets wanted to run the football as well, but you draft Garrett Wilson because you want you think that that's another progression in Zach Wilson's career and finding out if he's going to be the guy long term. Now, look, this is not the end all be all. I tore my meniscus when I was playing the league. I played 9 years. I was 200 more pounds than Zach Wilson. That has an effect on how you come back from this injury. So I'm not talking about injury, but to your point, boogie, the questions are about gaining experience, playing and having as many reps as you can possibly have. Not only just to play football, but to build rapport with the teammates that you have there in a season where you are going to have to ascend as a quarterback if your team is going to have any chance to be really, really good. So this is concerning for me because of multiple injuries, but more importantly, the time he's missing to prepare for a season after we saw last year, he missed time as well. Yeah, so me and a lot of people saying, just go get Jimmy Garoppolo, but what do you think about that? So the jets just stick with what they have, or should they go get Jimmy G? You know, when Wilson first went down and we were hearing, maybe it's the whole season. I thought, well, that's a natural fit with offensive coordinator. Michael fleur, the connection there via Shanahan to Garoppolo. But less than that and it sounds like it's going to be quite a lot less. It doesn't make sense for this team for a few reasons. One candidly, the goal this season for the jets shouldn't be to win at all costs and try to make it to the playoffs. It should be to develop their young quarterback and see what kind of pieces they have around him. Beyond that, Laura, last year, we saw when Zach Wilson was hurt, Mike white, his backup came in, played really well. I do think that it puts some pressure on the young quarterback pressure, by the way, that he responded well to, I don't think it makes sense from a developmental standpoint to bring in Jimmy Garoppolo to essentially do the same thing over a longer period of time because I do think you would play well in that system. In my opinion, you just stick with Flacco and Mike white, both capable backups write it out and get Wilson back on the safest timeline possible. And that's what I think they're going to wind up doing, sticking with Joe Flacco, sticking with Mike white. They'll see how the surgery goes and then make a decision. I think they've been pretty clear about the fact that they expect it to be two to four weeks. But we've seen the jets luck before. Nobody would be surprised if the doctor went in there and it turned out to be a little bit worse. You hope that's not the case, but when Robert sala has talked this week, he came out last week and said initially that Mackay beckton knee Andrew was fine only to find out later that of course he needed season ending knee surgery. And so that's what gives this whole organization pause right now. They just went through another scenario last week regarding another former first round draft pick. Now they're waiting on another knee surgery for another former first round draft pick and they're hoping that it is what they think it is, but until that happens, they are waiting to see a little bit of good news. The sun is out, it's beautiful. Yeah, it's a beautiful day in New York. Hey, hey, what's that you hear? It's the collective groan of jets fans. Oh, goodness, man. The head go through enough. It's a lot. It's true Biscay has been reported as a favor to start, at least early on, buying time for rookie Kenny Pickett to get comfortable, then mason Rudolph has experience with the team, but here's Mike Tomlin to make sense of it all. They moved their units. They did the informal things associated with the position from a leadership and communication standpoint. They were engaged. It was a good first time out for all three. Obviously, we'll comb through it tomorrow and evaluate it in that way. So Tomlin making sense of it all was tongue firmly planted in cheek in case you didn't catch that. Marcus, did your views on the Steelers quarterback room change at all after seeing how they played this weekend in preseason? No, I didn't. I still think trubisky has a hold on the job, but obviously it's a play setter for Kenny Pickett. But with that being said, man, Mike Tomlin is about winning. This contract and what Mitch trubisky was giving guaranteed is not in any way going to sway his decision or who they're starting quarterback will be if he feels like Kenny Pickett is the guy that's going to continue to push this team forward and move them in the direction they want to go. Bug gave me a stat and it just highlights the point. Mike Tomlin winning seasons and how well he's done. He does not put anything in front of winning football games. We talked about it when mason Rudolph was playing when he had to go with duck Hodges at quarterback. This team was firmly still trying to win games. Even last year with Ben Roethlisberger being hampered and trying to figure out they were still almost in position to make the playoffs. So it'll be Kenny Pickett and like my man Marvin Gaye said Pickett sands and picket lines because it's coming and mister biscuit knows that it's coming and eventually he will give way to Kenny Pickett and he'll start

"I think my favorite part about that is whoever does the voice-over work. Do you know who does the voice-over work for that documentary? He's got an amazing radio voice. I thought he did a phenomenal job. Right here in the rich eisen show. Robert saw. I'm sorry, I'm fishing. I'm weak talent. I'm just fin skin talent, coach. But it is a fun watch and the interesting part about that, Robert sala here on the rich eyes show. I did not know that Jermaine Johnson told Joe Douglas to trade up for him. But you were four in ten at the time where he said that. Where did he think you should be trading up for him? Coach? You know, I think all those guys are always going to just trade up. I have no idea. I have no idea. But it worked out. It worked out perfect and it was supposed to happen the way it was supposed to happen. So what was that moment like for you, where you already had a remarkable talent at the corner position that you know what you can do with that with your side of the football in terms of expertise previously being defense? And then Garrett Wilson, who will get to in a second for the other Wilson, if you will. But the fact that you're sitting there and you can get your main Johnson at the end of the first round and all it costs you is a second that you already had another second in your back pocket very high for Friday night. I mean, that had to be something for you, coach. It was great because once we took Garrett, I looked over at Joe and I think there was a couple of picks later. I said, hey, how far does Jermaine Johnson got to go for us? It was just kind of a discussion between Joe and I and Joe Joe gave a number and I said, all right, didn't think you'd even get there. I think you said if he gets the 15, we could start picking up the phone and shoot from 15 to 26. I forget what picket was Joe was relentless calling calling calling as it was documented. And Joe made it happen. I mean, Joe on draft day is pretty fun to watch. He's calm, he's collected, but he is relentless in pursuit to try to make sure he's getting all the information he needs to make the best selection possible. And you have to get lucky sometimes and at least from our view with where we had Jermaine ranked in our top ten. We felt like we were pretty lucky, so. Robert sala, New York Jets head coach here on the rich eisen show. We all know it's a quarterback driven league. You know that better than anybody. So tell me about your guy, your two, how different does he look right now? Zach Wilson. You know, he looks a lot more, he looks a lot more comfortable. He's. A year ago at this time, if you made a mistake, he would give us long dissertation about how he saw a certain player doing something. And you know, in our system, it's progression based. It's one, two, one, two, three, let it go. And. This year, you could just before rob or Michael fleur could even talk to him. He's like, I know. And he would point to where he should have went, or he points to what he could have done. And the dissertation, there's a saying in football, see a little see a lot to see a lot to see nothing. And we're getting from seeing a lot to seeing very little, which is what you want them to see because when you see little, you actually widen your vision. If that makes sense. But he's done a really nice job. He's a lot more comfortable in the offense, a lot more decisive. He still has a tremendous arm talent. I love the fact that he went off schedule some in during OTAs, a lot more than he did a year ago. Because all schedule he is an incredible talent when he does go off schedule and he looks good, it looks comfortable. He's more comfortable around his teammates. He's more comfortable in conversation. So it looks good. Just now we just got pieced together. What is our schedule look like? What do you mean by that? It looks like it's pro day. Okay, that throw? The throw that you're referring to? The sidearm off platform, the when he's running, when you exit the pocket and you can deliver the ball to certain spots like the Tennessee game where you hit keelan Cole and you hit Corey Davis when he was all scheduled even the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield and he's no one's going to question this talent and his physical traits it's really bringing that the physicality of the physical traits that he has in combining it with a mental part of the football game, which is the hardest part to learn, especially at quarterback. And we really we're really hopeful that he takes a takes a good step forward and being a good quality quarter starting quarterback and who knows, who knows where he can take it, but I think I showed the thing we all share the same thoughts as he does and that we think as guys limit. So just taking those steps one day at a time and seeing how far you can take. And the conversation was Garrett Wilson was the most pro ready receiver with all due respect to Drake London. I mean, that was part of the conversation throughout the entire talent evaluation portion of our calendar. How does he look so far to you, coach? You know, same thing, you know, because we're so versatile at receiver and we have our receivers playing all three spots. And the Z, the XDF and offer match our purposes. It is a little bit taxing on receivers. And the system, because you're not just lining up at the X and having to do the same thing over and over and over again. Now, Garrett is very, very smart, but it's still.

"The quarterback. That will steal the yards and one thing that I've seen over the past couple of years that a defense loves when the quarterback is able to steal yard. It keeps your defense on the sideline. It keeps them fresh. And I think that Chicago bears you heard Steve talking about nagging experiment with Your whiskey? Yes. Yes, I see some of the seer malaria as far as his athletic ability, abilities being able to steal those yards out there, so I don't like him going without and I think fields is the answer. You know, It's amazing that we're having this conversation. Matt seems to me have already made this decision. And the decision. May well be, as he has said all along Andy Dalton SportsCenter all night. ESPN radio. Justin Field has impressed at times this preseason, just like Trey Lance in San Francisco, perhaps the best performance on the East Coast with the Jets and Zach Wilson, ESPN analyst. Many times he has looked awesome, like I think of any of the five quarterbacks and I think they've all looked good, and they all look a lot like the guys we saw in college. These may be impressed me the most because you know, we knew about the off platform throwing ability, the creation and he showed that a little bit weak, too, but just in terms of keeping the trains moving the decisiveness and anticipation with which he's thrown over the middle of the field. Way he's executed. Michael Fleurs offense, which is, of course, you know, stands from my good friend Kyle's Steamers desk team. Um, you watched it and you think? Oh, man, this could absolutely work in the regular season like I know. He's playing a lot of backups, and he's playing with backups as well. But you really see why the Jets drafted him second overall and I think you got to be really happy. Suggests fan but with what you see so far. That's gonna be cashing in on the pick of Wilson with number two SportsCenter all night. ESPN radio. Carson Wentz, meanwhile, reestablishing himself at Colts practice. He was expected to miss 5 to 12 weeks after foot surgery but back at practice on Monday. At the three week mark. It's fun. It was fun to get out there today and honestly, to.

"So I do hope we see more of that. Well, it always surprise me that we didn't see a lot of it. The first two years under saw always kind of thought that the Seattle defense went hand in hand with that sort of aggressive in your face press coverage, you know, read it's scrimmage in the forty Niners haven't done that as much as I was expecting when when shawl was coming in. Yeah. It's. There's there's a lot. I think gets a bad rap in a lotta ways for for his scheme. It's it's a very -able scheme. There's lots of there's lots of there's a lot that goes into it. And we've talked at length on the show about it. So our listeners probably don't wanna hear me, why philosophical about the issues with solid, but hopefully, I think Joe woods brings a bit more that man coverage because I think in today's NFL if you can play man coverage, or at least you can mix it up and not stay predictable and not end up like the chargers where you play, you know, man, coverage just ten percent of the time. And so when you're zone coverage isn't working you have no change up. And you have nothing to go to. I think overall you're you're better off defense. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I agree. And that'll be something to kind of add to the the repertoire, I think in in year three of the skied now Ritz Tangaroa he interviewed for the Broncos offense coordinator job. He is the odds on favorite for getting it. I don't know if they've actually formally announced him getting that job. But it seems like that's a lot. He's now in day to day three of the interview process. But I'm curious why he was initially blocked, but then was allowed to interview because the team has seemed to have blocked just about everyone except for skiing Carello. So what was it about the job of the role or anything that initiated the change of heart for the forty Niners? Well, I don't even know if there was a change your heart. I mean, it I haven't figured out. What happened initially that they they rejected the interview request Cowger Shanahan was on vacation for a little while. I wonder if the disconnected as simple as as that that you know, somebody else sort of speaking for him. And then when he got back, you know, incommunicado he he sorted. It out, you know, one of the reasons is because you know, the other the other two guys Mike McDaniel and Michael Fleur. They were requested for OC positions as well. They're already coordinators entitle one is the pass game coordinator the other is the run game coordinator they help Shanahan with the the the game planning each week. I mean, he's those his to top lieutenants, and they were being asked to interview with teams where they wouldn't have play calling duties, so it would the their their duties in rezone and in Green Bay wouldn't have been all that different than what they are here in Santa Clara show. I think that was part of it. He leans heavily on those guys. He wants them around. I mean, that's probably. In in even bigger part. And then as far as getting Rillo, it is a true promotion for him. I mean, he he's going from quarterbacks coach to offense coordinator so under Vic Fangio because they're fans you he's definitely going to call plays under under Vic Fangio. So it's it's a true step up the ladder for skiing role that would have been pretty hard for for Shanahan to block because you are keeping this guy from a golden opportunity show. I would like to know to the back room haggling that went on there. I mean, these two franchises are obviously close to one another given who's in in the power positions of the mall show. I guarantee you there was some wrangling. I don't know what that is at this point. But all find out soon enough. Yeah. I wonder if this is anything to Nick Mullins next year because I do think they will. Have a legitimate competition for that number two role and and Shanahan might may end up keeping all three quarterbacks on the active roster. But I think you've mentioned it and mayo 'cause mention that as well that Mullins was a scanner elegant..
