"Talked to Michael Davis who was on the phone I think he was up in the Pacific Northwest somewhere. yeah on and then we just talked to him a level mark an organ talk to Nate Downey and when we talk to Nate we have like Grateful Dead so we get all happy and of course box of rain is about a self enclosed greenhouse the gross list I think that is a box of rain right now yes it is. reminiscent of the time I knew Julia Goldberg get back in eighty seven yeah sorry I I probably even have a picture of iron and tied up I would like to point out that this is the short short period of time you have to talk about your business so use it wisely the way she is goin trying to quiet you down. all right now you have been and then permaculture in landscape in and had a business here in Santa Fe for a long long time you work for candidates who ran for office recently city council and all that at this late late stage in your life. Y. eight change you're an old man I met a guy who knew before I ran for city council and his name is Charlie Schultz and he teaches up upon exiting nuts at the Santa Fe community Carl college Charlie Schultz art Charlie she'll tell he's never told us what the are actually stands Richard well but but why he's a Charlie anyway he's a really smart guy in fact one of the best aquaponics teachers in the world okay we're really lucky to have my learn from them I took a class from him in aquaponics actually I do in that class it was pretty interesting they let me skip the first semester and I joined a class of students and I don't know what to expect the Senate to communicate legend you Charlie was hot stuff right I got there just in time and everybody's just the pin dropped when Charlie started speaking and I've really learned a lot about aquaponics from him and learned that this whole world has learned a lot from him too so here we are we're lucky to have and so I started realizing that what he was talking about was it that that that was talking really deeply to me was perhaps there is a way to commercially grow. this food here in Santa Fe to a local market and that's what let it sit several will do it's really the. most ecological food on planet earth once once we build this kind of greenhouse that is a mixture of sort of an earth ship with it traditional conventional greenhouse faces south it hasn't insulation blanket at night to cover up the water that's associated in an aquaponics system and keep the entire room warm at night with much less supplemental a carbon than a typical greenhouse what meanwhile inside the green house the water recycles and so that you can use your own ten percent of the water for the same amount of crop up but what you're also doing is you're feeding fish so you end up with fish and plants in the system now the fish and the fifth group the fish fertilize right yes fish poop is mostly ammonia and it goes through to naturally essentially occurring fill up filters these bio colonies of microbes that convert the ammonia into first night trite and then nitrate and the night trait is what a plants really love to grow like gangbusters and so with all the heat during the day that we get there it ends in Santa Fe the water will keep warm and we'll be able to seal it up at night with that insulation blanket and that water recycles and we get fish out of it as well out in the middle of nowhere here very far from the ocean will actually be able to provide fish to this community fresh never frozen tilapia which is happens to be the third most popular fish in the United States it also happens to be an excellent fish for aquaponics and an excellent plant for aquaponics is lettuce and all the leafy greens and that's one would be focusing on a commercial scale with the lettuce and the leak leafy greens being grown by the tilapia poop all right the company is you the company on vision is called let us at cetera. let us it cetera L. E. T. T. U. C. E. all right and they would begin as a small scale and grow and add on or you're going to you're going to go full bore I'm going to go full bore with the pretty expensive greenhouse and then another green house on the same site okay and if all goes well and we prove the concept we could build them and other places as well all right do you have a piece of land picked out no but I have some options okay. so how far have you thought this out are you are you gonna do this I mean this is something that you know. Mister Schultz told you this is this is the possible at all doable the technology is all they're they're actually doing this act at Santa Fe community college right now right and the way my two options seem to be panning out is that I'll know if I'm gonna go for one of them in the next couple months and I think I will go for one of them and will. we can easily start building the beginning of next year and have crop by this time next year all right and how much less is can you produce. I will be providing the eight ounces times four times sixteen hundred people every two weeks so if you can do that math I don't have the exact number in front of me but but will be basically growing food three hundred and sixty five days a year and harvesting at three hundred and sixty days a year and Richard did you understand that you understand he's talking about a direct to consumer model he's not no okay haven't gotten to that part yet okay yeah all right well is there I'm more interested what kinds of lettuce almost all kinds of lettuce and then the leafy greens are going to be divided up into the trick traditional greens like charting kale and collard greens and then they'll be a specialty greens as well and those will be more the bok choy and the arugula the pock choice some of the stuff that people are always is from these are not actually growing in soil nope they're soil is so to be super clean and really fresh and nutritious in that way as well just dive right off the farm and two peoples as Julia mentioned to people's front doors I was addict that's how you gonna deliver yeah I was at a commercial aquaponics. project not project business in California they had a class on this and I started to realize that my might be able to really do things differently that the guy there spent a lot of time with the restaurant tourists in the fancy chefs and they were forty five minutes away and that kind of thing and only getting half price for you know something that's a really valuable product when I get a retail price and so actually literally on my trip back to the house I tripped over a box you know and it was the neighbors hello fresh box and they have a similar address and GPS gets mixed up so I find myself caring their food around the corner to the house with and and the years older food here's their hello fresh box right and I text him like I do and sometimes he picks it up and I was kind of energized and I was thinking about my business and it really that's when I kinda got this Newton's apple hitting me on the head type a moment and I realized maybe I can deliver it to people's doors as well it would require some some shenanigans right I'll admit but it but it is an interesting concept that would rather have a rock brick and mortar store or sold restaurants and get half price or sell the farmer's market you would deliver in your own probably Billy electric vehicle of some kind. right yeah into neighborhoods in Santa Fe needs that's how we work it out with a focus on and neighborhood adults will be two deliveries a day with about a thirty to forty deliverable still the neighborhood and let it sorry may they maybe they get fifteen percent off or something. for for B. for being the the dealer lot of that too and then yeah that person go around on by you can take it to people the rest of the way the dealer the bag and and all of that. so is that is that is that is that deliver home fresh meal thing I know there's a number of those are those like incredibly popular I've never thought about it myself but I mean are people going crazy over those kind of a no delivered thinking gradients and the cook it at home yeah well of course all that. aired meal thing is big and then the grocery stores are doing it too when we got uber eat so we got that right we got a dashing delivery and we got a lot of delivery happening right to really a delivery revolution in many ways you have a built in partner sitting right here in the studio with the who wants to establish a vegan restaurant liberty liberty gore month right will be my first BGS first right first full blown because he doesn't have the Mike. so yeah that's the plan. all right let us it cetera reinvent teen fresh so lettuce you doing a liver fish at the same time that is yet to be determined I would like to and that would be an optional light in the way that the subscriber model would work as you'd be a subscriber first season and you'd pay in advance okay and you'd be in this neighborhood and your delivery would come because that way you get some of that run investment as well right you get some cash up front and you get people on the hook yeah as a driver yeah I imagine they'll be some deals to get people going in terms of marketing and another well first run free the interestingly and I'd like to say this before any kind of break the make sure people are clear is that the delivery the delivered price is actually going to be a very competitive serve Albertson's even Smith's food king type price right on on with lettuce and all kinds of other greens assorted greens right that's right all right and everything will be solar or it'll be you know it'll be you know zero carbon footprint well that's as may host as you can get rats were Mike connections through biz mix Mike are coming in yeah I really meant a lot of great people learned a lot from them and I've learned also about grants that are available the through the state and low interest loans that are available for training and there's there's a whole world of of grant writing it's kind of ahead of me in the next few months as well as soon as they get a site all right can you hang yeah I really can you hang I cannot come back we'll talk more about these two project and more about the next season possibly next year of business mix and how people feel in of people getting excited like I got an idea I need to get in we'll tell you how and then Julie I'll be back we figured.

"The foul area i think michael davis michael seamus on first base running marathons during that game on sunday i felt bad form and i would be curious 'cause i'm guessing major league baseball will look into what a you know not only it wasn't just one person talking about it it was people on both sides talking about how the theory was is that stadium designed to reduce wayne resistance on track athletes they were like what's going on with the breaking balls and so when you hear from alex cora that man masahiro tanaka could not get the ball down and zach britton saying i could not throw my sinker and other guys talking about be affecting the breaking ball probably would be good for major league baseball at least ask the question about why that was those two games but that wasn't that big of a deal and i would i i agree with you i coach sign that it was a really cool event we looked at the baseball's first by the way i think that that yeah really cause now remember this is much as we talked about it seems like there's something funky what the baseball this year that faction baseball's different because it has different logo on it so wherever that you know like so it's different from other part about the foul territory that's crazy like digest this per second senators forty four thousand five hundred square feet a foul territory i wonder if given anything for michael shea bistro you gotta fit that are just to see how many steps he talked to james bumpy on that here's the crazy part muster you saw the field and take that cent per second there could have been more foul territory they cut the foul territory off where they did some less it but you could have taken it all the way to the stands there could have been way more foul territory so now again i think you could you could cut it down in and they're they're things that can be done there but it was overall roll like it really neat experience i will tell you just a talk about the red sox for a moment that to me what i saw and heard from the two days we were there first off on you go talk to yankee people and they seem very much of wow this is really cool this is exciting and not i mean most of the red sox people that i talked to were you know enjoyed their time in london but there definitely was more of the now why are we here thing and i walked away from those two days like well this is a classic example of world series hangover were you ever team which is been involved in a lot of games a lot of action a lot of attention and they just seemed weary over these two days to me but what did you think so i have a i have a counter to that and i i i should ask someone and i'm shore in the league office 'em on shore in the league office they will have some counter and there'll be defensive about it but here's what i would say back to buster when you compare.

"So yeah, I mean, we're we're going to get pretty positive here soon. So it's okay. You can get a little bit appear. So next question is from Ryan. And he says hi guys first time I've written. But I listen talk on Twitter every week. Is it just me or does? Michael Davis seem to have the perfect skill set to be a. Safety instead of the hopeless die. He has great closing speed and his assure tackle. But he lacks the nanny man covered an outside corner in my eyes. It'd be cool. If you could discuss this on the pod, it's just something. I've thought over the last few weeks after being sick of well, we're all sick of a die. Join the club. But personally, I don't think Michael Davis would be good option of free safety. I think Davis looks really good within the first ten yards. Not counting. The jab scrimmage, but everything in ten yards. He could tackle receivers and backs of front of him in close on the ball quickly able to jump out or two. But like we saw Sunday if you stretch them out you struggles, even though he's the fastest db. He just has seemed to be able to run with flat receivers, and he couldn't run run with Ryan Switzer, which was a problem on Sunday. And also he doesn't really get his head around fast enough and find the football once in the air. So leaving him an island as last minute offense does not seem ideal to me. So I would say I don't like that idea. I will say oh throw. When out seemed to me when agent Phillips running strike for with Justin hunter down there. Deep down the field. He looked pretty good. No help from a die there on that play. But hey, I thought. Filter. Pretty good run deep ZOA. Hey, maybe throw him back there. I think Phillip says the answer at free safety right now. If you're not gonna move off the line of scrimmage Phillips is the answer in my opinion. He I mean, he bailed the die out there on that play. He's he's been nixing him in back there a little bit the last couple of games. And he's I think keep seen him around the ball. And he looks pretty comfortable in terms of Michael Davis free safety. I mean. You like the size you like the speed you like tackling those are all good things. But the free safety has to be able to find the ball in the air. And right now Davis is not doing that. I don't think running with wide receivers necessarily is the problem. I think he just panics with the ball in the air. And he forgets turn and look for the ball. That's just technique thing and competence thing that hopefully at some point we'll go away with more reps assuming they're going to give him more reps. I mean to expect him to cover Ryan's, well, he should be able to cover rent with your down the field. She definitely be able to cover Ryan with your down the field. I thought he I thought he played really well against Denver. I thought he looked outside of the touchdown pass to to fits last week. I thought he looked pretty good last week. He's been tackling. Really? Well, he's breaking balls or thrown underneath a lot of his issues have been that cover three zone scheme where he's playing way off the ball. And they're just giving up free slants in the middle of the field. And there's no chance for him to recover make a play these issues with that. And he's had issues down the field. But if they can keep the ball in front of me is pretty good. So. I don't know what the answers with him. You want an athlete that you think you wanna have an athlete like that on the field. But if you can't trust them to find the ball and not grab it becomes a problem. So they got to figure out what they're doing with their corner. Spot before they get to the playoffs because that can really hurt them down the stretch. Yeah. Yeah. For sure and he had a pretty good pass break up in the second half kind of put the clamps down a little bit. We didn't see that big of an issue for Michael Davis in the second half. I I thought that penalty at the end of the first half was a little ticky tacky. I mean, he kind of had his arm around was juju on that path..

"Was a storing moment in America. Yeah. Yeah. And and like you said, it does feel there's there's some resonances right now we'll see just how much but you are not necessarily a superfan of kick out the gyms you are. However, playing what sounds like a really exciting to or starting in September where you're going to be performing. That album in its entirety with is sort of supergroup with people like sound gardens, Kim fail. And so that's exciting. But when it comes to the album itself, I think you think that it was sort of not a great night for the band, right? You you actually feel that could have been documented on a on a different better night and you would have preferred that I feel. I mean, you know, I want to be honest, and you know, I don't want to, you know, I bore revisionism. And you know my feeling at the time was Jesus wasn't a really great gig for us. We should record it again, and my vote was not enough to carry the day and the consensus was that the record sounds great. We're going to go with it. But yeah, I would have preferred to keep recording and getting a night where we played a little better. You know the the band was McCurry in on a good night. We were unbelievable, but on a bad night, we could be kinda train wreck. And I didn't think that was one of our better shows, but you're right, you know to go out today fifty years later and perform that album with guys like Kim file and Brendan Canty grateful. Ghazi drummer and Marcus Durant, Zingo Rila singer and Billy Gould. The bass player from faith, no more to play with musicians of this caliber who believe me. They get it right every night. They play the stuff. Really. They really take it seriously and the music is just sounding incredible. You know, the MC five actually never sounded this. Could. Well, you know today, listen, we, we've all been playing for a long time now and you know are made that record. I was nineteen years old and and I was pretty crazy, man. I'm still fairly crazy, but I've been around a little while and I I know how to play the guitar a bit and sort of my coworkers. And the sound is really just been inspiring every night to go out and play these songs and see the reaction in a whole new generation of of music fans. Never heard this music before it's very, it's very exciting for me. It's a gift that I never asked for and never expected, but I really appreciate. Yeah, can't wait to see that. The fascinating to me is that a Michael Davis, the bass player in MC five, the he. He said, he essentially was playing at a sheer intuition like he might not know, wasn't really playing with court progressions. Almost like he almost wasn't a musician the way describe it. That's not inaccurate. You know, he, I mean, he could play the acoustic guitar and human. I used to sing folk songs together, and you know, harmonize Beatles songs and temptations, harmony parts, and I love to sing with them. And then when the looked like the bass player in the ban was gonna leave, I thought, well, let me just move Michael over into the band and I'll show him, you know how to play the bass, and that was naive of me to think that anybody could be agreed bass player or that I could create a great bass player because I can't do that and and we all play the instruments or do what we do based on something deep inside motivation, that's internal, and Michael just kind of went from being a, you know, art student to the bass player in the five and one smooth lateral move and thought it was a good thing for a long time because his approach was unencumbered. Comfort by convention so to speak. Yeah. Yeah, as time went on and and we had to learn how to work in a recording studio. And you know, we had to try to be consistent with our performances at turned out to be a little bit of a liability because you know there were fundamental new rules of the road that Michael had mastered yet. And so you know it, it made the band, a uniquely idiosyncratic. Let's hear come together from kick out the gyms count. Great..
