If you have the Lakers and the Celtics potentially lost in the play in tournaments, something's gonna have to happen in. My question is why As we sit here on the Marvel comic book celebration day that I've turned this into, I think about Doctor Strange and the Infinity wars where he's running through every possible scenario, every possible outcome of how this could go for them. That's essentially what we've found here with the MBA. The one outcome that's going to be the MBA's version of beating Fantomas meeting. You would somehow remove these two monster brands from the playoffs, and even when it's LeBron James, I know the tendency is to tense up. We need to stop, take a breath and realize it's natural for these players to be upset about. Miss. And it's going to be even more natural for us to just let that go by and let this play out today and Golic Jr weekdays at four Eastern on ESPN radio and now watch exclusively on ESPN, Plus Max. "With Gilders Alexander Alexander. I liked him as a prospect. I did not love him. And that's because of the jumper aspect I was like well. How real is this? He shot over eighty percent from the free throw line which is encouraging he had. Good touch on floaters layups which he still does. And that was encouraging he did shoot forty percent from three at Kentucky is just the had this. It's kind of like ugly looking form especially off the dribble and you wondered how much as a guard he could be a shock creator but even today you watch lots Gilders Alexsandr and you think about like the the construct of a guy like him at six foot six lanky with with at the time a questionable shot it it was hard to come up for successful comparisons for him in the NBA for what he could grow into. But a lot of Rondo right like that was a Rondo or even like you could have said even like a Michael Carter Williams. You could have said somebody like that too. And you know. Granted Carter Williams has had some good moments as without the reliable jumper. That's what's limited him as an offensive player. You could have said Shaun Livingston a highly successful player and I thought Gildas Alexander would be a success but this much this soon averaging nearly twenty points per game with efficiency doing what he's done. It's it's incredible to see that rapid development from year to year as a freshman at Kentucky to a rookie with the clippers. I am now a second year with the thunder and for this team moving forward to have this guy to build around with what is already a pretty nice young team in a transition phase with Chris. Paul there Galadari there. They could blow it up. Emplo the pull the plug on these veterans or they keep just trying to win around this youthful star and killed us Alexander but with all those picks you mentioned boy the amount of possibilities. This office is going to have moving forward to build and with Gildas Alexander. Somebody who can he can handle the ball more if you need him to. They don't run a ton of pick and roll with him. Because you have Chris Paul because he had a shrewd her but he can do more of it if necessary or you can continue to use him in this ball. Sharing role or multiple guys are handling the ball. I can't imagine how exciting it must be for Sam Prestige to sit in his office and imagine the possibilities. "They just never stop trying to build a Tom. Brady Lebron James. There's always ways to improve And with Ben Simmons he's somebody you look at him. Am and you look at his game. He I mean he is. He's one of the best passers in the League like with his combination of size speed. ATHLETICISM Dexterity as a ball handler vision creativity as a passer. He is a magnificent passer. And you see that you see the way. He is is on the defensive end of the floor with his versatility and quite frankly his intensity In stepping up in big matchups big moments. It's nice to see that but on the offensive end of the floor of bid on this since pre-draft he is somebody who he shoots with the wrong hand with his left hand and the sixers have worked with him. There's video footage of him. Shooting right handed free throws they have tried to get him shoot to change shooting hands and he has not doc been willing to do that understandably so because it's such an outside of the box weird thing to do to change your habits for so long but the facts are the facts are that he attends over seventy five percent of his shot attempts other than jumpers with his right hand. He is a right handed player. He is shown better touch with his right. Hand on floaters layups Hook shots everything and not only just the touch ass Bam but the comfortable and he has an uncomfortable player with his left hand which drink some predictable on the post. He is uncomfortable shooting with the left hand even though he does from the line and from from three he is somebody who teams have not yet. Let's utilize Hack Simmons to the level. That maybe they could any game. SIXER Games seven scenario. And that's something that could happen down the line because of his poor free throw at so many frustrating little things offensive end that yes. You are an all star because of what you do well but you are for a player who if you improve these weaknesses even a little bit you can be an MVP and the frustration. Last thing last nothing on this look. I've seen it with a million players over the years. The one thing that is easiest to fix is shooting. That's just practice. I've seen guys is that we're not good shooters become great shooters quite Leonard. Wasn't known as a as a shooter coming out of San Diego State. We're seeing it with Yaish right now. That is just going to the gym and doing doing it. and repetition and repetition repetition. That can absolutely improve and he appears to have very little interest in in doing that. since we last spoke Kevin the NBA proposal that we had spoken about a few weeks ago. is going to be talked about and the update on this was that there would be a big prize pool. You know that was my concern with the NCAA tournament That the NBA would be proposing. What is the reward? Why do I care a lot about this? Well we got an answer to that and I will tell you I. I think it is a very persuasive in terms of Me Thinking that guys would care a million dollars per player. Now Bobby Marks tweeted this out over the weekend and I think this puts us in real perspective it is important to know that fifty percent of the NBA players earn four million dollars or less including one hundred and forty two below two million dollars only twenty nine percent of NBA players. Earn above the nine point. Five the average player salary including fifty that top twenty million and so we have seen the we seen the middle class for auditing onto purposes. Go Away in the NBA. There's guys make a ton of money and there's guys that don't make all that much money and so when you were talking about that amount when you're talking about over fifty percent of the league making four million or less you better believe that a million dollar prize pool for each player is a massive. Massive prize is That people would. I think players would care deeply about winning. Oh for sure I mean this is. This is a nice happy about this. Yeah this is this is great to see the and I I think the NBA making the knockout round games. Count towards the regular season is important Because you WANNA win regular for season games so you're trying to win any way. I think there's something out there about like players might rather the five days of arrests Instead of playing in the the tournaments That may be true. But I don't think you'RE GONNA try to lose games in the knockout round knowing that you're actually losing regular season Games on purpose. I wouldn't expect that to happen especially with the cash reward. They're in the tournament. What will be interesting? As I reported weeks ago that it was at least discussed trust to have the tournament games also count towards the regular season standings and of course Bill Simmons put out his big proposal to have those games count towards towards the regular season standings. Some sort of bonus points system I do wonder if maybe that the NBA. I think it makes sense for them to start with this for the first year of the tournament. See how this works with the cash reward and just the the the nature the natural you know so the natural push to try to win games. Players are competitive. It is a matter the setting it is a matter the situation players want to win. And maybe this is anathema. Napa rewards one million bucks a heck of a lot of money for a lot of players in the league as you mentioned and just the fact that you want to win games and I think this this is something people joke about it. I see so much out there saying this is the dumbest idea I don't I don't I don't agree at all. I think this is something that's GonNa make. December are during the regular season. Really really interesting. And it's something that I imagine if this past week in Las Vegas. This past week has been the G. League showcase everybody from the NBA has gone there to watch G.. League prospects to scout and it has coincided with College Games being played in Vegas to Imagine Agean if also championship games for the tournament. Were taken place in Vegas in December. It's a it could be in big. NBA Events in Las Vegas every December. Where all thirty teams go there for Julia showcase for tournament and for whatever college games of their something that fans dance could perhaps want to go there just like they do already for Summer League in July? I think it could be a great mid season event. I I do ooh I love this I mean look. I love single elimination. I loved the idea that maybe the Hornets or somebody get it on a run behind the Graham and they end up in the final four of this. Why not I mean people are people are in tune to what's going on in college football and NBA NFL and there's so much competition going on? Why not is my opinion and I was just worried about the prize and how much teams would care about? This and the price is great to me. I like seventy regular season Games James. I like the thirty team in season tournament. I I like postseason play for the seven through ten seeds. I'm fine with that. The only thing I don't like is receding conference finalist. That's it because I told you I wanted to stay east and west and I don't think it should be reseeded for regular season record when it is over. The course of the last fifteen years been much not easier to win fifty five games in the east than it has in the West and so to me. That's not right unless you're going to play a more balanced schedule across the board rewarding teams for the regular season wins is not necessarily fair when the conferences have been As it the conferences have have had such a disparity in terms of ability to win x number of games. Winning Sixty Games in the east is not not like winning sixty games in the west and so that's what I'm against. It's imperfect short. I personally you know I'm a fan of just having no conferences offenses at all period. That's that's unrealistic. But I I do think at least gets us one for towards that it's Fi- and that's the way I feel about it that like we're not to wear my ideal and be a you know rule is but we're getting closer imperfect but it's a step forward and maybe kind of a and normalizes lack of conferences. You know I think that that could be something where then be. It becomes the norm to go away from what traditional. Even though I mean to your point like it would be we would miss out having some of those Rivalries within conference but I- rivalries would still exist. It's just more about what's fair with a balanced announce schedule so hopefully the move towards that with fewer regular-season Games with more midseason tournaments maybe or the play tournament whatever format I think moving moving towards that over the next decade should be a priority. I Kevin Well. This is our Christmas Eve. Episode was being Christmas. Is Tomorrow that being said we are going to give three three. NBA Christmas wishes that we have. You WanNa start or you want me to go first and I'm going to bet that we don't overlap in this since we've only got three I'll start art art I want to see James Harden score eighty two points in a game I'll see him surpass Koby What am I two hundred Wilt Chamberlain? But that's very that's pushing it. I WANNA see James Harden score at least eighteen again the season. I think that would be an unbelievable thing to watch. Because because we've seen hard and have those fifty and sixty point games but they're blowouts. What we need is a rockets game? That is close that that happens to be a night. That hardens having a special performance. I WANNA see him push for that. I WanNa see it happened and I also WanNa see how people talk about about it afterwards. People like you and me fans on twitter fans on read it. I want to see how people talk about Horan because because there's so much hate towards him as a player which you. We've debated about this many many times. Chris I love his creativity and his drive to get better as a player every single season. A little ways and in a big way and for him if he's able to to to surpass Kobe and all time single gave points. I think maybe a moment like that could maybe shift tied in the conversation in the way in which we talk about him. Well we actually do to coincide on this mine is a little bit different but it was all right with all this patient space and all this you know the the absence of hand checking gang and freedom of movement and guys coming in and the first couple of years in the League having such success and earlier in the year we talked about how three of the highest PR's ever recorded accorded. were all happening. This season with on harden and Luca I.

"Michael Carter Williams. Twenty six three quarters. They leave. What? Forty six hundred daughters record for the most threes made by a team of the game. Yeah. That was just about how the final score went one thirty six two one eighteen the final the rockets getting past the wizards Houston now sixteen and fourteen on the season W F E D radio with the call to football where the Packers have two games left. But with no play offs to go for it has been a question as to whether or not Aaron Rodgers will play with a sore knee and a minor groin injury. Or number twelve there are reasons beyond trying to get to the playoffs. Why he'll be out there on Sunday. I think it's a lot about leadership. If I want to be listened to and followed and looked up to could I stand here and say, you know, these games that don't matter for playoffs. I'm going to cash it in. That's just not the way I lead and I'm super competitive, and I want to be out there with the guys. Likewise for Ryan tackle, Brian Malaga. I want to get back out. My teammates help team went bottom line. I enjoy playing football as well. So wanna be out there and play nose tackle, Kenny. Clarke though, contrary to broadcast report has not been placed on injured reserve, but he also did not practice yesterday. College football, the Wisconsin badgers have one more week to the end of their season at the pinstripe bowl. The Yankee Stadium a year ago. Wisconsin also played Miami in their bowl game. It was the Orange Bowl. However, UW pulled off the upset and linebacker Chris or remembers it. Well. There's going to be a competitive game. No, they're good team. Again, it's gonna be fun to play him. Again. You know, you gotta familiar teen in. No, we're going to do what they're going to do. So definitely gonna be fun. It's the badgers and the hurricanes one week from tonight, December twenty seventh in the Bronx. Do they still have the turnover chain hurricanes? They have a different turnover chain this year. They have a different pendant, but they have they also haven't had the same season that they've had a year ago as well. "Of funny that it's Michael Carter Williams who is not a great three point shooter. And that's typically what he does. However, he gets the new record the twenty six three pointer for the Houston Rockets out of fifty five. Can you just just think about that? For a second you go to an NBA game or any kind of a basketball game and they launch fifty five three pointers. Holy cannoli. Now, they were attempting to reach the Mark by the end of the game. Now, Chris Paul swears they had no idea the record was even up for grabs until the fans were cheering them on. But believe you me once they found out they were all about setting that new NBA, Mark. So they beat the old Mark by one twenty six triples out of fifty five attempts. They did shoot forty seven percent. Sent from beyond the arc and. At least for the rockets, again, you you would have had no trouble believing last year's team could eclipse, the Mark, but this year's team desperately needs some type of a rallying point not that you want to make the three pointers your rallying cry. However for them to now be two games above five hundred to have a night in which everybody gets involved harden was six of eleven from three point land. But Chris Paul was five of nine J. Tucker was three or four Gordon. Eric Gordon was four of nine. You heard Michael Carter Williams three the only one that he shot or that he made he did attempt three. But he was only out there for four minutes, but got to be part of the action. So all but one rockets scored in this game against the wizards Craig Ackerman with the call on the Rockettes radio network. Most importantly, if they can find a rhythm if they can find a group, and this is how they unlock it. Well, that's critical for them. Now moving forward. I know a lot of people believe it's not true. But a lot of people believe that the the NBA season doesn't start until Christmas. There will be oh, there might be seven games on Christmas this year for heaven's sakes. They keep loading up on Christmas day. But if that's the case if you believe that will then the rockets best to get their act together as should the wizards. So I think there are some who believe the wizards are now a lost cause. No causes lost. If at one fool is willing to fight for it. Do you know where that line comes from? If you do you can find me on Twitter alawradio, one of my favorite movie lines. I don't know many movie lives, but I know that one it's after hours on CBS sports radio. So that was the Houston Rockets, though, the last I looked they were still on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. So they have worked to do. Actually, they've they've moved into the number seven spot. I was just about to say, even if they're not there yet, you can imagine that they continue to play. Well, they've won five in a row now they will move into that playoff picture because you've got the top eleven teams in the west separated by a mere five and a half games. Eleven teams five and a half games. So the warriors lose on Wednesday night at Utah. They hate playing at Utah. They don't even like visiting Utah member a couple years ago with Steph curry and Kevin Durant. The comments about being in Salt Lake. I actually have a really good friend one of my best friends. Who is from Salt Lake and she's on her way there now to spend time for Christmas. And they love the fact that other teams do not enjoy playing in Utah in generally struggle playing in Salt Lake so the warriors lose and they fall into third place in the west we while the Denver Nuggets had the night off. But there right now still still flying high. It's impressive. We did a whole what was it two weeks ago? He did a whole segment on get to know your Denver Nuggets, which is fun the Oklahoma City thunder after starting out really poorly. This season have have steadied themselves and part of it was injuries part of it was just kind of getting acclimated to new guys in the lineup. Man. They do look dangerous. I dunno. If you believe this about them last year when it was mellow and Paul, George and Russell Westbrook. But right now, they look dangerous..

"Flexibility with your lineup. So that you always got one of those on the floor. Now, it's really didn't say we're gonna replace it with guys like Dave nice player. And he really hasn't done a lot in this career. Michael Carter Williams saved thing. Not known as a dependent not known as the shooter doesn't play play jet. Markey's? Chris another young obvious that didn't work out. He just it seemed really short sighted. Not get it fifty million for reasons a lot, but men you bite the bullet when it's the windows there, you gotta bite the bullet. Yeah. That's the one. I don't understand the other guys. I get a little bit. They had the right exception, the taxpayer mid level exception. But the Trevor areso went to me, and look he may be available again because I saw Mark Stein was reporting that on December fifteen may get moved. I don't think the rockets had the pieces potentially to move him. Right. I mean Phoenix is taking brand the night back. Right. They do need a point guard on Phoenix. Get on the phone James Jones. So yeah, I think that's the one that's not gonna work. I mean, they dropped the ball the window. I think for Houston Rockets is closed. Okay. Chevy. Okay. Okay. Like, they had a chance, and they haven't sustain that window open. Yes. All right. Speaking of championships. Kobe calling the warriors fans bandwagon. "You know, Bobby just thinking about the situation as a whole, and maybe the Cavs were on the something because they did win last night a convincing fashion albeit over the Atlanta Hawks. But like, what do you think they were trying to accomplish here by firing Tyler new and turning it over to not even Larry drew? But whoever eventually takes over as the fulltime interim head coach field. I think they had unrealistic expectations as far as what this team was. I really do. I think you saw what the Kevin love extension during the summer bringing back. You know, of course, LeBron leaves. But they thought the front office thought this team was a playoff team. And I think outside of, you know, the people in that in that, you know, that front office there, I think we all thought that it was going to be a lottery team. So I think if if you're looking at the big picture of it, you know, the timing of it, you know, six games in, you know, why don't you just do it during the summer? I know you just went to the finals for what three or four years in a row. The maybe make a clean break say you're going in a different direction. We're going to go through a rebuild, and we want a different voice and as far as. Somebody from a development standpoint here. So yeah, I just I get it. I mean, nothing surprises me anymore. But I just didn't like I didn't like the timing of it right now because the young kids have been playing coun-, and it's been playing steadily than playing they've been playing twenty plus minutes here. So, but yeah, I think just the timing of it was was really off Sarah Spain and field Yates at Spain. And fits talking about marks. What's wrong with the rockets? Well, they miss their defensive coordinator. Jeff is Dell I think we can talk about Trevor REEs, we can talk about Luke bamboo tape. But I think when biz Delic decided to retire two weeks before training camp, I really think that set them back, and you know, you know, they're I think twenty fourth or twenty fifth in defensive rating, I know hardens out, you know, in has been out with that with that Hampshire. But the one thing that concerns me it'd be size Laker game. Is they've not been competitive at all in some of these games and you start with that New Orleans game. The start start the season here, and the Michael Carter Williams edition, the Carmelo Anthony addition to replace some of these players, you know, they're they're bench of certainly got week. I mean, I think if you look at last night that bench resembled more of a Geely team. So you know, they go on the road for five or six games here. Sometimes that's the best course. But I think a lot of it starts with with defense and the lack of it right now, Bobby this is probably simplifying the equation too much. Because there are so many tentacles involved here, but how much further to getting on track this Jimmy Butler if acquired by Houston, get them. Well, I think it matters what you're giving up, and it's not going to be, you know, Minnesota right now is not taking back Brandon. Knight marquees, Chris. I mean, they're not doing even if it's four first round picks. And I think that deal could be there in February. If nothing happens right now, I think, you know, if you're if you're Minnesota you're looking for p P PJ Tucker heir, Gordon, so you're kind of taking away. Good player, you know to act to add a good player. But as you guys know when you put Jimmy Butler on on a core. You know, it gives you a certainly a, you know, different different dimension. Awesome. South Bobby always great to have you on eight before. I let you go. Let's see if you'll put a guest on the books, where do you think Jimmy Butler will be in one month? Filadelfia? Ooh out Ryan. Team struggling sour I five hundred and them trying to make a move. And I just I've said it all along the long straw. There's going to be team out there. That's desperate to add a player like that..

"But I also think like the scariest moment of opening week for me was when I was sitting there watching Houston thinking, man, these guys really need Brandon Knight healthy. Like Michael Carter Williams out there, shrinking the core mellow. I'm we've had like three straight summers of just like increasingly indignant mellow to see watch himself play basketball. Like I do not understand how he like gives the quotes that he gives about how you know coming off the bench is an adjustment when he's out there. Just looking awful. And so that's already looking like a, you know, a potential zero into what they're trying to do going forward. I mean, ultimately it comes down to the trio of heart and pollen cappella. All three of those guys can definitely play a lot better than they did on opening night. I'm with you that they're going to be fine. But I also think I've said this you before about some other teams when you have that dream season to have the same level of night tonight, consistency and energy the following year, it's really hard to sustain even if you're not coming off of title or or anything else is just hard to get that locked in for that long. And I'm a little worried that you know Houston. The regression that we expected, you know, maybe a little bit deeper than we thought just because they don't have a lot to prove here in November and December to themselves, right? Like last, they really had to prove that you know they're formula was going to be sort of championship quality, right? And now they just kind of believing it and we'll see if they, you know, they come back around to it, but scary first night for anyone who's thinking like, oh, Houston's going to be able to survive the arena thing. They're gonna just like, keep on rolling. That's not how it went. Man. I mean the MC w minutes. I thought I was hallucinating and Melo is he's such an easy target at this point. He deserves it though. Come on, doa back. This guy, you know, I'm not. I'm not. It's it's hard to watch him out there though, because this is honest to God like these. These final few years are going to affect the way people think about his career and watching him like on defense last night. My only. Takeaway was like God, I understand you can't retire because you're making a ridiculous amount of money. No, he got bought l. he should just retire like this is keep your dignity intact mellow because this is rough. It's it's hard to watch as someone who at least nominally will wants to defend him because when he's out there, they're, they're vulnerable. It's always dangerous when I bring up the NFL, but wasn't there an NFL player recently who just like retired at halftime. Yes. Is that in play for mellow? Like would you bet against in at this point? Like could there be a game in mid January where he's just like, all right, I'm done. Can I get a ride home on the private plane? And then I'll just see you guys later. If that happens, I will be the first one to applaud him for choosing the hard right over the easy raw which is, I guess, just continuing to cut it play the string out. That would be pretty funny if like Dwayne Wade has a season long last dance in mellow, just like walks out the site x out, and Mel is going to be great in retirement. I'm sure he'll be great on TV. He's got a great future ahead of him, and maybe it's time to head that direction and talk about massive overreactions after one game. Mellow needs to retire. I've been saying that since two thousand fifteen probably so it's five. Yeah. Let let's talk about New Orleans. So because you're right, we've been hard on them not only their roster. We've been hard on their franchise. His Davis go to get traded. They trade them. They can't ever put anything around him. They had the best game of anybody in the entire league, right. I mean, they have the best opener performance. One hundred thirty one points they got to their pace. Exactly, right. Davis was unstoppable. And you mentioned Peyton. If I was a Lakers fan, I would be watching that game a little bit nervous because Anthony Davis made Peyton look, amazing and paint was making a lot of the same kinds of passes that Rondo was making last year and Davis..

"I can also confirm that they part of their discussion with mellow was we can't guarantee you're going to start and is open that now mellow knows what we all know, which is the rockets. Do Evan opening in a starting forward spot. PJ Tucker is going to be one of their starting forwards unless they're gonna start rookie, which they won't. It's then either Gerald, green, Ryan Anderson or camello Anthony, who will start in the other. Position now, I think you make a really strong case that basketball wise starting Gerald, green and having a second unit of Michael Carter Williams, Eric Gordon, Carmelo, Anthony, Ryan Anderson. A name could be a very interesting scoring long unit, like I like that second unit, but because of the personnel. And I don't know if they're couples starting Gerald green. I'm not certain that they're going to have to ask mellow to go to the bench, but the fact that he is open to it, they had this discussion to me, speaks to what I thought would happen. If the rocket scientist they would have a tough conversation say, do we look at you here? Where do you look at yourself? And it appears to me that was part of the discussion that was had. And I know they had to have that discussion after he gave some of those quotes to Djamil hill that concerned me. And for you? See, I think it it made you further explain why you have been where you are with Carmelo at this point. Career. I mean, mellow is who he is like he, he said, when interview with Jim hill, what he planned on doing, he knew the situation. He knew the teams that were out there new Houston where he's going to end up. He said those things because that's the way he feels. We just have not seen and I'm just going to, I'm just going to stick to this. We just have not seen superstars that have adapted after being pure scores to plane, some type of row and then mellow. So this is not a Chris against mellow thing, and then mellow has shown us through his interviews and the way he's played. He doesn't have any interest in being a backup player. Now, as far as good news for Houston, they don't have any good options as far as who's going to start into think that Golden State is concerned of who they're going to start at that other position. They're not because Houston is not better than they were last season. One thing with Mike, Dan, that I gotta point out from the interview was and I don't like this is he said, man, we gotta try to make this a y-. A year where he's happy. We're really Trevor. REEs was still in Houston, would that would he have that press conference? You know, this is the year about Trevor REEs being comfortable in being happy. Why does he said nothing about Chris? Paul knows about James harden, but any said also that I expect to have some bumps along the way. So man, you trying to make people happy. I know mellow wants to win, but we can't be about him being happy. We got to be about what's the best for the team, and sometimes him being unhappy is is what's going to be best for the team that might be him coming off the bench. Now they don't have options. Ryan Anderson cannot start eighty two game, Gerald, green. Let's stop depress. Okay, he cannot start the warriors score. One hundred and fifty points if he's a starter out there so they don't have a bunch of good options. I'm just going to sit back and watch. All right. 'cause mellow to me, I would be shocked if he changes from the person that we have. Known the go ahead. I was just gonna say. So what if everything that we think might happen happens? What if mellow comes in and he agreed to come off the bench and they've got a great second unit and everyone's happy, and it sort of works today really bridge that gap with the warriors. They got that much better are closer today than they were yesterday, but they are so much further than they were at the end of less regular season at the end of the beginning of the western MICH finals. And even at the end of the Western Conference finals been traffic jam New York City, Jenna, and you tell the driver, sir, how long it's going to be for we get there. Oh, it's still be a long time. "But it's it's amazing that they made that move kind of and i i was a big supporter of dwight howard trade from charlotte perspective and then they basically undid it in pretty remarkable way i don't think that like the white howard was the reason they didn't make the playoffs this year those so hey we have to give michael carter williams plenty of credit for that on this all right we do have another trade a little bit more low level but one that does have some interesting implications the lakers have acquired the thirty ninth pick from the sixers a four second rounders and this is another one that isn't going to be able to be complete until the league year because philly in twenty thousand nineteen is getting the bulls pick which went to the lakers in the aforementioned colder on deal and of course the present cash philly however cannot receive any cash until still the league year turns over the already accepted their maximum five point one million for the season well and and that could potentially be significant for the lakers because the lakers if they have a successful free agency one of the hallmarks of those teams trying to kind of clear stuff and get things moving is to use cash and trades and so this will i don't know how much it will be but this will reduce their allocation for the nineteen twenty season another nice thing knows that if they want to bring a guy in and they wanna use cap space that a second rounder doesn't count for anything against the cap the way i rounder does so that's useful if they wanna bring in who they get at thirty nine and also we'll see what the amount actually ends up being but i haven't seen that reported anywhere yet and also remember that they're sending out this bowls picker that bulls pick is probably probably due to be right iran number thirty nine or so next year i would guess up but in a worst draft and determine value that so you know the cash it wouldn't shock me if the cash were more like you know a million bucks or something out the is going be the three dollar transaction when you consider the pig going back agree so i think they'll still have plenty of money the lakers will in i don't think the lakers have used any of their cash for this year yet so maybe they could do they could still use some for this year extra but and that is one pick though that may be the warriors could have bought for example of that maybe a houston could have bought that now is no longer be available but you could see even philly with how many guys they have in their roster with john bolton coming over reportedly next year they could even sell their other decent second rounders well which i believe is the pick immediately preceding us one and it makes sense they wanna do that or d other significance for me with this and why thought it was a little bit strange this happens every once in a while is that when it's a pick later in the draft and where this is the whole train it's not like in the charlotte brooklyn deal where the pick that changed hands was not the most significant part of the trait where you just never know who's going to be available and it's possible that you know that the market could be there however you know getting a second round pick which is probably going to be at a similar level maybe they would rather have that than cash so there's a possibility for philly but i i'm always of the style maybe the guy who team is really interested in falls a little bit further and then you could get some value there it seems like this offer would have been there no matter what but it's not a big some player option news dwayne deadman updating in two seven point two million dollars for next season with the hawks that's what we had projected also predict mike scala walked in there that'll leave the hawks with lulu over twenty million or so in space surprise you at all that ten minutes optin or do you think this is i mean it wasn't clear cut to me but i think this.

"I think the most important part of this that many fans lose sight of and this was actually something that i crystallized more for me in the response to my cajun mcdaniels jeremy grant piece on the athletic is this idea that teams have a lot of capacity and utilize this to evaluate players outside of the minutes they play in nba games and yes it certainly is is useful to see how chris done or jonathan isaac or any of these guys fair in these last ten games certainly that's important but they have seen these players in practice they've scouted them on film and so focusing on just the on court stuff is as a fan it makes sense because that's all that's all we can see generally speaking but there's so much more information that they have and so having a slightly less reliable sample just doesn't make that big a difference i think kevin pelton had some research that has shown that socalled developmental minutes in the nba he wasn't able to prove it at least that had any particular outcome on players development going forward i mean we we there are plenty of guys who haven't really played much in the first couple of years and then it had been able to break out and there's plenty guys who played a ton registered the have just never worked out and certainly the argued can be made that got the sixers are going to ruin all of those models with 'em with an michael carter williams joel owned beat him ben simmons now certainly i think it's a problem if you just haven't played it all for a year they that's that's not great but you know maybe not maybe not even to but maybe maybe those guys are just such incredible talents and it's difficult to know the counterfactual where they'd be if they had played the you know the combined three seasons that they missed the any we've talked about this a couple of times now but the comments by devon booker about how things have been kind of gifted that the suns players are spoiled in terms of that they get but a lot of that could just be coaching as well i certainly think that you can learn one of those things that i think you could learn is some of the stuff that's more difficult to detect on film it's not necessarily just stats putting up numbers.
