President Biden and Vice President Harris addressed the nation following the showman conviction. They called on the Senate to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Which has passed the House and is now deadlocked in the Senate, in the sort of Senator Tina Smith was an original sponsor of the bill bans the kinds of troubles that we saw. It stops the kind of militarization of our police departments, which way I think, contributes to some of this over policing and under protecting that people in communities of color face, Senator Tina Smith. Shobin trial has brought a new push to examine use of police force policies nationwide in the hopes of preventing another George Floyd tragedy. Attorney Robert DiCillo represents victims of alleged police misconduct. Talked to some officers. I'm friends with law enforcement. I've got friends in that world and they're concerned. "The tornado damage last night throughout the morning, so stay with us. As everybody is waking up in getting moving this morning. Good news is we have sunshine, No watches or warnings happening right now and the assessment in these neighborhoods where it hit eyes underway, so we'll have the latest throughout the morning during his self now Michael Barra to talk a little bit more about what's happening with this impeachment process. Michael Good morning. Welcome in, but first, let's listen to manager House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin. Reading the article of impeachment against President Trump. Donald John Trump, president of the United States is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following article of impeachment the exhibited to the United States Senate, Donald John Trump engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors by inciting violence against the government of the United States in the months preceding the joint session. President Trump repeatedly issued false statements, asserting that the presidential election results were the product of widespread fraud and should not be accepted by the American people or certified by state or federal officials. He also willfully made statements that in context and courage and foreseeably resulted in lawless action at the Capitol. Such as if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore. A lot of enthusiasm coming from that guy and reading those articles. Michael Bauer Good morning clearly didn't recognize how close he was to the microphone either. There was just a lot of yelling going on there. Wow, it's how quick they all forget Maxine Waters and others from the Democratic Party when President Trump won the election, basically cheerleading their base as well, just as Donald Trump. Cheerleading his base. I don't think President Trump asked anybody to get violent or, you know, charge the capital, although that's what they're claiming. That's what they're moving forward with. In fact, President Trump actually said, peace, calm. Go home, But here we are. The Senate now has the articles and I guess they're swearing in senators this morning. Correct. You will see the swearing in of the senators. This morning, you'll see the swearing in of the impeachment manager of the House impeachment managers on Ben. That will kind of be it for the better part of the next two weeks you're going to then see The opportunity for President Trump to respond get his legal team pulled together as to how he's going to defend themselves on then get to the point where I believe that what I saw on the schedule looks like it's going to be around the ninth of February should be opening comments. So you have the Super Bowl on Sunday. Monday. They'll be pulling their last ditch paperwork together. And then Tuesday, you'll be seeing the element of Let's open this process up and get to the actual hearing here and what we saw from Chuck Schumer in the past 24 hours is that opens the door for Joe Biden and the Senate to go through Biden's Cabinet picks here for the next week. Try to get as many people as he'd like to get in in as possible or any sort of element of policy that he wants to try to work in. But really, it's to try to get as many names through and as many people through because as soon as we kick into that night that February night it will be all impeachment until the impeachment is done now. There is an expectation from shoot from Schumer and Democrats that this will be a lot less of a trial than what we saw last year where that one took up to three weeks. I believe this is one that they think may be done in a week to week and a half period of time. And they say that because According to Schumer, They've got all the proof out there all the stuff that Raskin was talking about. We've seen on television. They're adding to that the element of the people that have been arrested for storming the Capitol talking about how President Trump invited them to be there in Washington, D C. All of those things that they say are all the evidence they need, and this is By far and unprecedented trial to begin with just even the concept of Can you impeach a non sitting president, But let's add the fact that now you're not even going to have the Supreme Court Justice John Roberts presiding over this, In fact, you're going to have a Democratic senator providing presiding over all of this because Patrick May I believe it is right? Yeah, I think he's older than paper there in the in the Senate, but He is the way that it works is that the Constitution says if it's a sitting president, then you have to have this. The chief justice preside over everything. Since this is not a sitting president that doesn't have to happen in the way that that falls is No. Any officer on impeachment who is not a president, The vice president may preside, which then opens the door for Kamila Harris, the president of the Senate, But she's not going to oversee this, either. It's falling down to the president pro tempore of the Senate, which will be Patrick Leahy. He will be the one overseeing the song. Well, Yeah, you're right. I've heard that from so many people. This probably will only go a week. You know, it's amazing to me when we saw the destruction of the city's run our world in our country last year that nobody was held accountable for that when the Democratic leadership in these cities basically told there Police chiefs to stand down. Let these people do what they're doing. And yet nobody came forward. No Congress would because they're all Democrats. But you know legally, you would think district attorneys Would go forward with charges like they're doing now with this president for what took place in the capital. Same scenarios last year, But you know yet there's no accountability It seems ever on the left side of this. I don't think they're gonna get a conviction That's gonna take 17 senators toe jump ship and join the Democrats to convict in this, But yeah, the process will go forward. As the politics will certainly be dancing big time in this one. Michael Bauer. Thank you for the update. Appreciate you Joining us. Next was point. Fire department. Chris Horn will be here for assessment in the area there as we wake up this morning to damage and destruction. "Right? No, I don't think that boom boom. Well, at least they're going to play. There was a time last spring and early summer. The three of us sat on this show and just said there's no way this is going to be able to play. You're not gonna be able to keep 75 kids healthy on some leagues obviously did not play football this year, but Three started and then to power conferences says, Well, we're not gonna get left out of this. Now. All five power conferences jumped and eventually Ohio State, you know, didn't have enough games, but they sound somehow finagle there. Well, the league finagle the way for them to get in funny how that happens. Ship game? Yeah, it is. When I looked at what? What the what The payout is the conference gets for team that is in the college football playoff. Now I understand why I think it's about six million per school. If you have a representative in the college football playoff, when I bet this is going to come up with Jenna, Sarah, But you know, Michael Barra, it does make me think. If you're sitting in Columbus, you're happy. If you're sitting in Cincinnati, you're furious because your bear cats went eight to know And they're nowhere to be found in the playoffs. And you know what else? It really intensifies and magnifies the old argument. Hey, our team played our high knees off and we didn't even get a notice. I mean, we've had this argument in the past, but especially now. In a covert era related game, trying to play through this that it's not fair to some of the teams that have really Worked hard to go undefeated like you mentioned and and not even get enough. Yeah, I mean, the power five just has a stranglehold on this college football playoff that the whole debate for another day, although when we're gonna have a little bit later on with Jonas areas I mentioned. Meanwhile, one of the league's that did do pretty well. Amidst all of this is the NHL and just like the MBA. They are getting back to business. 2021 season for the NHL starting mid January. The N B A. Of course tipped off this week. So lynching How do you feel about Professional hockey. Your Boston guy? Yeah, I'm happy about it. Especially happy about the realignment because they geographically put all the teams together. And if you're a Boston fan, you've got Buffalo, New Jersey. The Islanders the Rangers. He got the Flyers. You've got the Washington Capitals and And it's great, you know, cut down on the travel and, you know, under the old the old alignment that the teams like the Bruins couldn't place plays a team like the Flyers of the Rangers unless they got to the conference finals. So I think this works all the Canadian teams. They're in a division by themselves. And Michael Barry don't have to travel too far. But you got the couple Florida teams in your division out there in the central, I think yes, you are correct, so the puck will drop their in mid January. And if you are at home, as most of us are most days Maybe you've got a pellet on the home fitness industry. It has been booming and pellet on stock has gone bananas. It is up more than 400% this year as people try and stay fit and stay home. So what skeleton doing? They're using some of that money to buy another company, fitness equipment maker pre corps It's going to improve distribution and maybe get some of those bikes and treadmills to focus a little bit faster. I caught up exclusively with Valentine President William Lynch. Here's what he had to say. About the deal. We have seen a ton and growth. No one would wish their global pandemic on anybody. But it's been telling for businesses. People are home huge growth numbers, and so keeping up with that growth, which has been a moving target has been a big company priority. And so whether it's the investments we've made in Taiwan before this we've been investing for. Years now in growing the supply chain, this is one element of that strategy. That's William Lines, the president tell time catching up with me this week on the heels of announcing a big deal. $420 million to buy pre corps You know, Lindsay, we talk a lot on this show, whether it's in pro sports or elsewhere, about sort of the house and the have nots when it comes to the business of sports gelatin. There have You're have and they're gonna be like Pac man. They're gonna gobble up all the competitors all the way around the board and this is their time Is this Herb Brooks said one time This is their time right now, and they're taking full advantage of it. So bar you know, one of the big questions When it comes to fitness is Will people go back to Jim's eventually? Will. That kind of be bad news for Politan doesn't feel like it's gonna happen any time soon. Feels like some fundamental shifts in this sector. Of the sports world. Well, you talk about the have not some have paella, Thons and others like me have a craftsman and that's about it. So I am looking forward. E don't know if going back to the gym is gonna happen necessarily. But people are going to invest in exercise equipment. I could see that happening. Saletan. You're leading the way absolutely up. "7 13 Alabama's Morning news. I'm J T. Our phones are always open. 88910505 Scott's Got a song this morning. Alabama's Morning news, Scott Good morning. Hey, Good morning. How are you? I'm great. How you doing? What's on your mind? Well, I Well, I was just looking on the This again State website. And they've got Donald Trump winning a few 1% in that. I'm just wondering why all the bread is reporting. Well, that's a good question. Ah, lot of good questions out there this morning on this with no decision. Scott. Thanks for the call. Thank you for listening. Let's go to a Michael Barra correspondent who's been following What's happening with the states that are in question right now, the recounts the lawsuits and no call yet in Michigan. They've given it to Biden. But You know what's going on with Michigan? Why don't we start there? Well, Michigan, according to what I'm seeing everywhere they've given it to Michigan. Even the state's electoral board has given that to Michigan and that you saw towards the end here going in the late orbit afternoon. Yesterday, you saw the votes were outstanding where votes that were surrounding largely to Detroit Metro area, which is a big blue areas. They were thinking that a lot of those votes were going to be coming in for Biden as well as Grand Rapids area. That's where they saw majority. These votes. That kind of flip things around started switch things over to a Biden leading. Biden supposedly has one there. I'm looking at Michigan now in the report is that you've got 50.4% to Joe Biden 48% to Donald Trump separation of over 130,000 votes separating those two as it currently stands right now. So Michigan still in question, though. Is there some challenge going on, though? Technically, I mean, the president is challenging at the president just challenging, you know about places like the vote's going on in Wisconsin as well, but they have. For the most part. The Electoral Board of Michigan has given that the Joe Biden so we're counting. Joe Biden is having won Michigan as well as Wisconsin, both I guess, theoretically, of the three that would be necessarily what you would consider that blue wall that President Trump won in 2016. Pennsylvania is the only one that is unclear at this point in time. Yeah, Pennsylvania, it seems to be a big spotlight with all this mail in ballot counting, Boy. This mail and stuff has really kind of throwing a wrench into everything here. You know, we talked about this yesterday. My opinion is there ought to be one uniforms systematically vote when it comes to national elections, and every state does it the same way. And you know you come up with a way to do that, But but it stays that way. So Pennsylvania obviously Giuliani listen to him. He's got some questions about this. And in his fighting here he goes..

"7 Network correspondent Michael Barra as the election ballots continue to be counted. One of Michael Good morning and and we're seeing some of those make some differences here on we're seeing some small changes that have happened over the past evening or so when you've seen Joe Biden cut President Trump's lead in Georgia between the hours of 5, P.m. and midnight down more than 18,000 votes, So it's now on 18,500 vote leave for President Trump in Georgia. We're hearing. There's about 5% more than boat that needs to be counted in Georgia specifically more towards that Fulton County area around Atlanta and when the suburbs there, so that's still a chance that could go to Joe Biden here as far as the votes coming in, there goes now. We're not expected to hear anything. We don't have an announcement. Let's put it that way from Georgia as to what we're going to hear the next update so It's kind of just wait and see attitude there. In Arizona President Trump Cut Joe Biden's lead down by 13,000 votes. So now Joe Biden's leaders about 68,000 votes in Arizona Maricopa County, the Phoenix area, which is the most densely populated portion of Arizona. That's where those 13,000 votes came in for Trump last night. Now there About 5% of the vote as well. We're hearing that's about half a million votes still waiting to be counted in Arizona, and we're not expecting to hear any kind of an update from Maricopa County until tonight. So between now and tonight, there's gonna be a lot of counting going on. Hopefully, they'll get closer to a decision there as well. And where we're looking for just some information period as we know the Biden campaign who sits depending on which news organization you're looking about. Six electoral votes away for reaching the White House. They're looking at trying to get both Nevada and trying to get themselves a wind in Arizona. That would put them over the edge. But here is where Nevada is a key point We have not heard from them in the past 24 hours. "6 41 here on a Wednesday morning. It's time to talk about what was going on with the nomination for the Supreme Court with Judge Baron. Let's talk about this with the video correspondent Michael Barra Foam on Twitter at the Bauer Sugar warned you, Michael. Yeah. Good morning. Give the idol if you got your T shirt, but Judge Amy Cockney Barrett is on tour of Capitol Hill. She's sat down with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell yesterday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham amongst others. So far. I'm not seeing any Democrats on the list that she sat down and spoken with. In fact, we've seen people like Richard Blumenthal, Maisy Hirono say that they are going to meet with her at all that they are in boycott mode. If you will. Right now, the Democrats are saying this entire process of pushing any Cockney Barrett through as a Supreme Court. Justice is Uh oh, yeah, illegitimate as they put it here Now they're not necessarily saying it's illegal, but they are pointing to 100% hypocrisy here, going back to 2016 where When we know Republicans were holding court in the Senate and ran the Senate like they are now. 2016 9 months to go on President Obama's term, there's an opening for a Supreme Court justice and Mitch McConnell said. I'm not going to hear any nomination for a Supreme Court justice because it's a lame duck presidency nine months to go. We'll just wait till the election before we have this nomination. Go forward on Then. Here we are with less than two months to go in an election, and you see Mitch McConnell saying, No, Let's get this Supreme Court justice pushed through now. That's just an effect of elections. That's what happens when you have the power in play. There's nothing illegal with Mitch McConnell doing that. There's nothing wrong with him doing that. It's just a political move now. Is it hypocritical? Sure. Is it on some way illegitimate? Hard to tell at this point, But it certainly would seem as though it was something that Democrats not only do they have a problem with here on some level, Jimmy, but I think they don't know what to do in this place. They're talking about the possibility of a boycott. But A boycott in the confirmation process isn't goingto do them much? I mean, you couldn't stay, maybe even actually moved the nomination more quickly through the process. It would be less of an objection if you didn't show up to the confirmation process physically meaning you weren't in the room. Okay, well, get this through super quick if you are in the room and just not saying anything, a little bit slower, But for the most part, you can probably get that confirmation through quick right now. There's no indication Democrats have any way to stop this. And so it just looks like they're kind of at this point sour grapes trying to work their way through figuring out what to do before and this is their hope. I think at the end of the game here Before they hope that you're gonna have not just a win on the presidential side, but also a hope that they're going to be able to win over some seats in the Senate. Take control of that, and then make their big move to try to expand to the Supreme Court is right now they've got no other hope. That's the only thing that they're counting on. You have packed the Supreme Court That's not expanded, and we had had dying justices since the middle of 18 hundreds and Joe Biden. Don't do anything without the fire on that he was asked directly and wouldn't say that he wouldn't a pact at the Supreme Court. So, but you know the problem with that, though, is returning into another legislative body. Because if they had, you know, five or for whatever they do whatever they need to get the majority, then you know the next time it turns over to be being a Republican president, Republican Senate they had another four or five, and by the time a century goes by, we got 151 people on the Supreme Court. It's a legislative Right. It's not. It's not the final say of the land. It's a legislative body that trumps The Congress and the Congress then becomes unnecessary. And you hope that they would sit there and say You know the reason FDR tried to pack the court and that was turned down. Thank goodness by the Democrats was that some of the rulings were going to take the the great the new deal and going to change some of the things you wanted to push through. S o smarter people have done this, you know. Harry Reid still says he knew he should have taken the lower judges and stop the filibuster for that. The 60 vote requirement. And then that opened the door for Mitch McConnell to do it for the Supreme Court judge. This whole thing is devolving and But I enjoyed last night, Michael, I thought it was one of the finest debates I've seen. I just It was reflective of America, isn't it?
