"Up through his death and now here in heaven, even more advanced I imagine. That he's praise the world's every day. Mother Teresa, again, very far advanced in the spiritual life. Praise the rosary every single day. Almost all the great saints have paid the rosary. Virtually every single day. And so I'm not beyond them. That's what I'm trying to say. And I have not so fully matured that the rosary no longer has a place in my life. And I think especially if all of Christ life is a continual teaching, all of it. Then why not have an opportunity to meditate on these mysteries of Jesus life by praying? That's all I'm saying. Just throwing it up there. But it's remarkable. So also recognized by paragraph 5 62. It says this, the crisis disciples are to conform themselves to him until he has formed in them. Again, Christ disciples are to conform themselves to him until he is formed in them. I might have mentioned this before. I think it was a quote from a book called Salvation by doctor Michael barber, where he had said he not Salvation is not merely. He does elevation from hell, although it is that. But Salvation is being saved from being like. Salvation is being saved from being like so that we're saved so that we can conform ourselves to the lord and they can be formed fully in us and mature. It can come to Christ com the full stature in each one of us. And so how do we do this? Well, we do this through the grace of the sacraments. But also, he says, very simply, when we have died with him and risen with him and taken up into the mysteries of his life, until we reign together with him. So again, I don't want to break down every one of these nuggets, although every one of these nuggets is worth breaking down. I will highlight these couple things though. Paragraph 5 63 and 5 64. 5 63 says this, no one, whether shepherd or wise man can approach God here below, except by kneeling before the manger at Bethlehem, and adoring him hidden in the weakness of the newborn child. We recognize that we can not approach Jesus unless we're willing to humble ourselves. You probably have heard about this, but there's the church of the nativity in Bethlehem. You know where Jesus was born. If you ever want to walk into the church of the nativity in Bethlehem, you have to stoop down.

"So we are called only to become one with him. For he enables us as members of his body to share in what he lived for us in his flesh as our model. And this is just so, so incredible. This is God's plan for fulfilling his mysteries in us. That we can partake in all of this that we get to participate in all of this. In fact, you know, Salvation, we're talking about Salvation as we go forward. But I remember coming across a quote from a man named doctor Michael barber. And he said, sometimes we think that Salvation is being saved from hell. And in some ways, yes, of course. That in some ways salutation is being saved from damnation. But he said, let's extend this and he said, I offer this. He said, Salvation is being saved from being like. Salvation is being saved from being like. They here we have these broken hearts and these broken lives and we live in this broken way. We live on christlike. Insulation is God, not just redeeming us and bringing us, giving us access to the father reconciling us to himself, but also making us capable of living as Christ, right? To participate in the mysteries that Jesus won for us, which is incredible. I don't know if that makes any sense to you. It makes sense to me tomorrow we're going to be talking about the mysteries of Jesus's infancy and hidden life. Like all the preparations, John the Baptist, and the literature of advent, the Christmas mystery. So whenever you're listening to this, probably not at ground Christmas, but you know, every day is Christmas when it comes to the lord. I don't know if that's true, but I'm just saying it out loud. We are also going to talk about the Christmas mystery mysteries of Jesus infancy and the mysteries of Jesus hidden life. With Joseph and Mary in Nazareth, just incredible tomorrow as we take those next steps, I'm excited. And I'm just can't wait. I am praying for you. Please pray for me. My name is father Mike. I can not wait to see you tomorrow. God bless.

"And that's just one of the advantages we have here is the depth of these guys. So like the advantage we have with the depth of knowledge. Of our news in New York City. Here's Michael buck. Tom Paul, thank you very much. Congress has avoided what President Biden says could have been a Christmas catastrophe. The Senate voted 80 to 15 yesterday to pass a bill to avert a looming rail strike after multiple unions had rejected a deal, partially negotiated by the Biden administration. One senator, Kentucky's Rand Paul, voted present on the measure. The president says he will sign it as soon as it reaches his desk, Greg the young professor on operations management at southern Illinois university says that the issues and contract may need to be renegotiated sooner rather than later. What was supposed to be a 5 year contract back at the beginning of 2020, now is only a two or three year contract at the beginning of 2023. So even though this seems to solve the problem for now, in a few years, we'll be back at the bargaining table again. Professor de young says because a rail strike could have severely impacted the economy. Congress has the authority to enact legislation to prohibit or delay transportation strikes. The Supreme Court denied President Biden's request to overturn a lower court's ruling, blocking his student loan forgiveness program, they did agree to take up the legality of the plan. President Biden welcomed French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife to The White House last night for the first state dinner of his presidency. The president Macron and his wife Brigitte to France ladies and gentlemen to the history of the binds us and the values are still united and the future we're going to forge together. On the menu for the 330 guests at the dinner, butter poached Maine lobster and orange chiffon cake with roasted pears. Michael Barr, this is Bloomberg temple. We're going to be quick here, but you know, Tiffany wilding was the pimp car we're waiting John farrow's conversation with secretary of labor on that railroad strike and the legislation the president is going to talk about here. I believe at ten 15. What were the recipe items? You were there. You were sitting in black tie. That was it. Dinner was butter poached Maine lobster. Oh, that's good. Orange, chiffon cake with roasted pears. So that's an American dinner. They didn't try to do, you know, French cuisine. They did. The real question is, California wines? I mean, do we know where the wine came from? These are the French. I mean, you can not change it. You gotta go all in. You can't be Boone's farm. No, you can't do that with the French president. What'd you call that? That was great back in the day. Too much already. We'll leave it there with Michael Barr, the cuisine of the borough household with bonsai. He's also got the MD 2020 gone. Michael barber, we will continue right now. Let me frame this up because this is a different kind of conversation. It's going to be with Martin Wallace, former mayor of Boston, and of course a guy coming out of south Boston and dorchester who was in union organizations. He viscerally gets the union movement of America and with that said, there is a railroad strike to review for those in that brief. It's been months in the work of getting the government the Biden administration to agree with the railroad companies. And with the leadership of the unions in basically Paul, the union members, not a majority, but many, many of the various unions and their members have said maybe not. Yeah, this was a contentious obviously a contentious negotiation agreement. It had a lot of support from the rail union workers, but not all. And that's what made it difficult required this administration to have to step in because again, the media reports were for this would be very costly if it went on strike to pay this time of year. We've got an agreement and we'll hear from the president here in roughly 30, 35, 40 minutes, and just in moments we will go to secretary wash down negative two 96. SPX negative 44 is well, the vix under 2019 .99, that is important to me. This morning, the yield, the two year yield up 11 basis points higher yield 4.34%, and then ten year yield 3.8%. Pausing in time keen on Bloomberg nationwide and now with the secretary of labor here on a jobs day in the shock of good employment are John farrow. And

I'm Michael Barr and this is Bloomberg temple. And now I would just secure this analysis with Michael Barr. Michael Barr, Krispy Kreme donuts, something you're familiar. We need to be clear Paul that Krispy Kreme was an IPO like a year ago It's different than the Krispy Kreme that you and I knew that was so notorious I'll say 2030 years ago. Yeah, I mean, you know, the donut business, I guess it's an issue of jelly costs going up cream costs going up. I mean, Ken fell you are global technical coordinator. He's in the bakery business. He gives me the lowdown on the raw material costs on a weekly basis. It is tough out there. If you're making donuts and stuff. Let's go to Michael barber right now and get some scientific analysis done here. Michael, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. Krispy Kreme, and you couldn't get crispy creams in the north many years ago. You had to go in the south together. Yeah, I had to go in Augusta, Georgia and in those areas to get Krispy Kreme donuts. So you have authorities? Oh, that was good. Where else are you going to get a base in Charlotte, North Carolina, 21,500 employees Tom? It is. And I remember when if you were doing hedge funds, one of your prime brokers would say we can get you stocked a short. It was such a negative tone on the franchise operation. But I'm going to beg to differ here that I go the other way from mister Barr. And I think that Dunkin Donuts makes a fine, fine pastry. How about changing their a name from Dunkin Donuts to Duncan? Did not like it. Did not like that. I thought it was un American. Is that Dunkin Donuts is Boston? I believe that would be Boston or you could probably see the brass plaque at route 24 in root four 95 where I spent a fortune mollifying daughters as their brother played hockey. Here you can have some little Dunkin balls speaking of hockey. The cream doesn't have the crispy cream or Tim Horton. I gotta go always with Tim Horton, my hero of the Toronto maple leaf. That's a Canadian thing, right? It's okay. All right, very good. And it's good coffee, too. There you have the broken report. Here at Bloomberg surveillance. Maybe stay with us time for

But now we have relief pitchers starting games. Jeff passing over to ESPN today with a smart article on breaking the cadence of starting pitcher to middle relief to one guy that mops it up. What we grew up with is gone. There is no Sandy Koufax anymore. You don't have that. You don't have the pictures that we had back in the day. The Denny with tigers, man. You don't even look records anymore. You don't say like it used to be, if you're a great pitcher, you had 20 wins in a season. Yeah. Yeah. Nobody gets that anymore. Remember the Baltimore Orioles had three pitchers one year Jim Palmer and two others that were killed. From a Bloomberg business of sports standpoint, is this just there were so much money that the worry about their arm is completely taken over. Denny mcclain didn't care about his arm. He would just pitch until. I mean, we all fell off. You're too young to remember this, Michael barber, there's a guy named Christy Matheson out of bucknell, who tragically died early of TB, but a guy like Matheson pitched himself out of baseball. I get that's the bad case. A hundred whatever pitches a game. Pretty soon he couldn't throw the ball, but have we swung too far the other way? No, well, I think this is the way you're going to see the game go, because you're going to have it broken down in three segments like that. You got started, then you got the middle, then you got the reliever. You're going to see

I like the south side of Chicago where you've got all these gunshot victims lined up. You know, So that's the first thing that I knew that it was a false story was that you know Well now, sir, they have a lot of guns in in Oklahoma. Right, so they had 2019. I just I was able Look it up while I was on hold 2019. They had 787. Yeah, Death But but gunshot in 2019 so I think that the chance that two hospitals are turning away gunshot victims forever. But what's really fascinating to me is a split between the different student experiences. The students who do not feel their academic experience has been a good quality of overall do tend to be those that have had an all online experience or have moved to an online experience. Now there's lots of ed tech people around social media that will tell you that the events of this year means students will be expecting more online and blended provision in the future to me. It doesn't look as much like that. I think we're looking towards the backlash by earlier. This week we worked with a collection of student unions to do a serious piece of work in to freedom of speech at on campus and roller students unions after lots of criticism over the last months and years natalie. What jumped out at you here. Well this freedom of speech issue i think is the issue that seems to never go away as well. We were all settling into lockdown. Three point oh we had. Because it's funny is an example of a wider strategic focus rather than attention to detail that we're michael will be happy to say Yes so i think the one of the one of the things we've said is the radius. Today's fema day to shine really and the the sector has been waiting waiting so long for this for this white paper. And it's it's it's really kind of setting. I think quite clear agenda for what needs to happen in further education. And that's really important but there will be able to be ramifications for higher education as well so the accompanying interim conclusions to the post eighteen review of education funding. The am has very little in there. That isn't actually covered in the skillful white paper. But the kind of key nuggets coming out of that. Where a re alignment of the teaching grants little bit consultation on this towards areas deemed to be more highly strategically important so we're looking stem provision health care areas of an additional need in the labor market. And that sort of thing potentially which wasn't which will not be welcomed imagined by those in the humanities and social sciences areas and the other thing that we knew was coming but the confirmed with there will be nothing on fees or student finance or any major changes to the funding regime until the comprehensive spending review. Which is pencilled for data this year. But we we've been here before on the timing of the comprehensive spending review so we we know what that means all the souls left dangling online because the source left activates. It feels often with these these conversation about auger. It's what's not in. It is almost more than what actually is. So the big as you say. Jim is seven point. Five k fees which is also minimum entry requirements. I mean i remember. There's a month wasn't that wherever that was like a thing and then chris skidmore Out but it's consultation. Yeah there is that promise of more consultation in the spring. Which of course in parliamentary terms could mean anything up to the summer recess. So what you could imagine. A plan of action in which there is a largest consultation in spring or summer looking at the glory and all these different at different proposals including things like minimum entry and things like foundation years. All these like little bits and pieces the overlook that and caused controversy and then disappeared followed by sensitive final conclusions at the are but it's hard they would require the government to quiet lot of bandwidth to deliver and all of that and of course there's also this strategy paper that we know is floating around and that talks about things like freedom of speech and grade inflation and perhaps some more about quality so there is a kind of basket of emergent policies. They're just not. We can't necessarily be confident that it's actually going to happen. I mean the justification given for not giving a full conclusion to the order response to order in response today was that the government focuses is on the pandemic. i mean. I think the current focus shouldn't still we'll be on the pandemic in six months or you kind of kind of hope it will be what's going to change to get us to a point where the government suddenly has hold second. I know what we need to push up. Agendas cuts cutting attrition fees. I think i've just about lost count of the number of major Fiscal events that the response to audible wall supposed to come alongside and either. The fiscal event itself was canceled. All their response to order was pushed back. I would not be putting money on that not.
