A highlight from The Debut of NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube

"Welcome everyone to SI Media with Jimmy Traina. I am your host, Jimmy Traina. Thank you so much for listening. Bonus episode, bonus podcast on this Monday after the first Sunday of the NFL season. We had the debut of NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube. It was on DirecTV for like 25 years. Now it's on YouTube. And Sal Licata, who joins me every week for Train of Thoughts from WFAN in New York and SNY TV in New York, joins me where we share our experiences with Sunday Ticket on YouTube, getting it set up, what we thought of it, full review, full breakdown of everything, what you need to know about it, what their differences are if you have YouTube TV, if you have cable, full breakdown of everything all related to NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube. That's what this pod is with Sal. It's like a full -blown Train of Thoughts. So listen to Sal and I discuss it, come back later in the week for a regular episode. If you missed any recent episodes, check them out. Last week, Julian Edelman was on. He was great. Just joining Fox had some great Brady and Belichick stories. Charles Barkley was on recently, Peter Schrager, Chris Russo. Check all those pods out. Subscribe to SI Media with Jimmy Traina. And this is one of two episodes this week. All right, let's get to it now with Sal. Full episode here on NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube. All right here right now on SI Media with Jimmy Traina. Welcome everyone to SI Media with Jimmy Traina. Thanks for listening. Bonus episode this week. This will be one of two. We're taping this on Monday after the first week of the NFL season, the debut of the new Sunday Ticket on Yahoo, on Yahoo. What a dope. On YouTube, on YouTube, I had to get on with Sal and we're just gonna riff about our Sunday Ticket experiences in week one. Sal, how are you? I'm great and I'm excited to have this conversation with you because we've had this many times over the years at dinner, at our houses, whatever, discussing this exact thing. And we both, I know, had great experiences yesterday. So I'm looking forward to talking about it with you. Well, let's start with this. There are many, many train of thought segments on this podcast over the last three months where you said you were not going to get Sunday Ticket. You were not going to get it. You're just focusing on the New York teams. And then I got the text message. Let's see here if I can find the text message. Even, even early, I noticed you were starting to cave a little bit earlier this week. Actually, 9 .34 a .m. on Sunday, I'm still on the fence. And then at 10 .45 a .m., the text came in from Sal. I'm in. It's like Michael Jordan returning to the NBA. I know. I thought about writing to you. I'm back. I was thinking about it as the week went on. I told you, like, because of the lineup with the playing Giants Sunday and the Jets playing Monday, that to me made it worse. Or you were saying, oh, well, you're going to have the national games. Yeah. But knowing that I didn't have to watch those games at that time made it more appealing for me to get the get the Sunday ticket. So I kind of thought I'd be going that way. And then Sunday morning I was like, fuck it. Let me just get this thing in. It's worth the money. Let me see what it's all about. And is it great. So so let me do a little preamble here before we get into it, because I want to say this and let me know if you agree, disagree. But before we even discuss this, I think what we need to establish is this. How you feel about Sunday ticket, whether it's direct TV, YouTube, the changes or it's it's going to depend on how you watch football, number one, and it's going to depend on what services you have. Now, for instance, Sal has direct TV. I have I don't have direct TV. Oh, oh, you have optimum cable. Correct. OK. Optimum cable. You were scamming the direct TV Sunday ticket all these years. That's right. All right. I did have direct TV. Right. And this is an important part of it. I don't want to gloss over it. And then I moved into the city and I was not allowed to get direct TV. So what they did was allow me to stream Sunday tickets. So I have been able to stream Sunday ticket for several years. So whether you have optimum like Sal, I have Verizon, Fios. Some people have direct TV. Some people don't have any cable. They have streaming services. That's a factor in all this. And then the other thing that I think added so much confusion over the last couple of weeks and is early yesterday there's also this huge Sunday ticket is different based on whether you have YouTube TV or you're just using YouTube. Now, Sal and I both have cable, so we're just using YouTube. If you have YouTube TV, the experience is different. So there's a lot of layers to this. It's very convoluted. I'm going to do my best to try to break it down for you now. So the biggest thing is this. If you have YouTube TV, you're good to go with Sunday ticket with your in -market and out -of -market games. You have nothing to worry about. If you don't have YouTube TV, like Sal and I, you're not getting the local market game. So on Sunday here in New York, Steelers, Niners was on Fox at one o 'clock. Browns, Bengals was on CBS at one o 'clock. Those games are not part of our Sunday ticket packages on YouTube. If you have YouTube TV, they were. So if you don't have YouTube TV and you just have YouTube, you have to have more than one television. I think if you want to watch all the games, if you care about one team, you're fine. You really do need to have two TVs because what I did was I had on my big TV, the multi -view with the four games. And on the second TV, I had one of the local games because that's how you have to do it. So, so far I weigh in on what I've said so far. Yes. Okay. Question here. Number one, if I had YouTube TV, do I then get the local games as part of the game mix? Yes. Oh, shit. See, so I may consider then, I don't know if I'm realistically going to do it, but that to me is like the number one thing that's been missing forever on the prior service. And now that I cannot have, because like you, I like to have the game mix and the four box grid, but it automatically takes out whatever local game is on. And I hate that. So here in New York, we could not get a four game multi -view that had either Steelers Niners or Browns Bengals in it on Sunday. Cause those are in market games. So there was no multi -view whether it was four games, three games that had those games in it. If you had YouTube TV, those games were part of the multi -view. So you, so you, so you would consider getting rid of optimum and getting YouTube TV. Well, I didn't know that that was the case. I mean, I probably, truth be told, I'll never be a cord cutter, but if I were to get it in addition, it might be worth it at least just for the season. Now I screwed up because I bought the ticket. Although I guess you have this period now where it's kind of, um, you know, the tree trial period and I can make a decision at the end of the week, but, uh, I'd rather than go back and get the ticket much cheaper if you buy YouTube TV, I think. Right. You know, YouTube TV is like $80 a month. It's like a cable service.

"Understand the tennis shoe collection fetish. I don't understand why people buy the air Jordans or the latest style, and they keep them in the box. Okay, Doug, this is where we're gonna differ. I don't get it. Doug, I am a bit, I don't want to call myself a sneakerhead 'cause I don't have the money to be one. Right. But I do have a pretty, so I have like 20 plus pairs of shoes. Okay, now it's closer to 30. Is this an investment? I mean, what we're absolutely not. Okay, the people who do it as an investment, those people are awesome. Because they're smarter than us, because they make a lot of money. Yeah. The people who have it in the box, people will always buy them. That's the thing. When I was in high school, you bought them, you ruined them, whatever. Yeah. But the people who've just buy them and keep them boxed up and untouched. The resale Doug, the resale value of shoes is so insane. This I do understand. I have, I probably have close to like 30 pairs of shoes, and that's only because I don't have enough money. If I had all the money in the world, my house would look like Foot Locker. It would. I love sneakers. I do, but I get the idea of how quick because they're selling the same shoe over and over again in different colors. It is a bit ridiculous. Yeah. But as Michael Jordan, how he feels sitting on a $1 billion.

Who the Heck Will Testify Against Donald Trump?

"Of course the blue head monsters are okay and laughing and joking right now will be crying later at Donald Trump getting indicted. I tell you what and I don't even have to look at much material to understand this fact. Is that the case in any form of fashion is going to be a tremendously weak case because who are going to be the witnesses who testify against president Donald Trump. Who? Who going to testify against him? Do they have a strong enough case? There is no precedent, but you're not going to try to do it anyway because they want to see the man not be able to run for the presidency of the United States of America. Let me tell you this, America. We got Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan on the same team. Now, I don't know who won amias, but I know that Donald Trump is the Michael Jordan and I would say desantis is the LeBron James.

"As we're taping this, Josh, the Oscars are just a few days away, but you will not hear any Oscar talk on this show because we shared our Oscar predictions, best case scenarios, a few disappointments. On last week's show, with our guest Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune, do you think team Austin butler has found Michael on social media yet? I hope so. I hope they're giving him grief because you and I are aligned on this. Big fans of Austin butler in all this. I don't know what Michael's problem was. It's true. We're both big fans of Austin butler and that performance in Elvis, but come on. If we have to choose between Austin butler and Michael Phillips, Michael Phillips is winning. Every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Well, yeah, if you put it that way, of course. You can find that show where you found this one and film spotting .NET on Apple podcasts, Spotify, or wherever. You get your podcasts. Why did somebody else live your life? I'm coming for everything. Amy was like family. Now he passed talking Michael B. Jordan returns both in front of and behind the camera for creed three, which is in theaters today. So will this next chapter in the long running boxing franchise keep us on the edge of our seats? We spoke earlier to get her review from vulture critic Jen chaney on Skype. This is a really, really good film. Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut as you alluded to earlier, at this point in the story, Adonis creed has retired from boxing. He's kind of moved on. He's been very successful. But someone from his past, a guy named Damien, played by Jonathan majors, reenters his life and Adonis feels compelled to try to help him get back into boxing. But not everything is as it seems in the dynamics in that relationship. So they are really the focus of this movie and luckily Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan majors are just really great together. They make formidable foes and of course it all leads to a huge, huge, important boxing match at the very end. Of course it does. So what did you think of Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut? I thought he did a really nice job. He keeps everything kind of on good pace. The story moves along very, very well. The boxing scenes are really, really compelling. Following and Ryan coogler's footsteps who directed the first creed, I think he's doing a very good job. Excellent. Switching gears to a streaming miniseries, it's based on a book with the same name, tell us about daisy Jones and the 6. So this was a very popular novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid that's now been made into a limited series. The novel was written as though it was an oral history of an actual band in the 70s, but obviously daisy Jones in the 6 didn't really exist. However, if they remind you a little bit of Fleetwood Mac, that's not your imagination. It is very similar in terms of the dynamics between the band members, the music in the show is very much 70s era. Riley Keough, who plays kind of the main character. She's terrific in this. And I have to say, I've seen all of it. And these songs, these new songs that they wrote. They do get stuck in your head. So it is a pretty entertaining limited series. On Skype, that's vulture critic, Jen chaney. 1218. Traffic

"So Chris, I do this whenever I run into you. I almost feel obliged to say that I watched you interview actors. Growing up, which is to say that you've been interviewing actors for how many years now. It's been over 40 years, actually. I counted not long ago. Man, okay, so what you're doing here for us today, this cover story on Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan majors, the stars of creed three. When you talk to them and you survey the work that they've made, what part of making this film jumped out to you? I love the fact that guys who now have a little industry respect and juice are using that. Michael B. Jordan, who is now a king of Hollywood, who is bankable, and who could act in just about anything he wanted to. Now wants to direct. And that's a power move in the best sense, but it's also about taking charge of your message. Because you could make more money doing a lot of other things. And in particular, both for Jonathan majors and for Michael B. Jordan, their rarefied status in the movie business allows them to incorporate aspects of their personal lives into this movie creed three, and while autobiography isn't necessarily the highest form of art, it gives it a kind of intensity, a sort of personal feel that I think makes it that much more exciting to watch. Well, an actor just deciding to direct Chris. I do want to jump into that a bit more because there are stakes here with this sort of a move, right? I mean, in your 40 years of doing this, I am sure you have seen this specific kind of a bed, go horribly at times, but for this one, give me a window into what Michael B. Jordan, specifically wanted to do as a director. What was the scene that you maybe talked to him about that still sticks with you? Well, the one that sort of stuck out was right from the beginning. It's a scene in which Adonis creed, who is now kind of retired from the ring, comes out of the gym that he works out of, and there's a guy leaning against his late model ride. A guy he doesn't immediately recognize, but who turns out to be an old friend of his from his past, from his childhood past, whose name is Damien Anderson. And Damien is just coming out of 18 years in prison. And so you can see the two of them sizing each other up and off the cuff, Adonis creed decides, let's go out and have a meal. Really so Adonis can figure out what it is that Damian wants. How long were you locked up? 18 years, bro she's got out last week. Glad to have you back up. I know I've been away a long time, but I kept myself in shape. I got gas in the tank. And by the gym. And that scene in the diner, I think, is the first scene that Michael B. Jordan did with Jonathan majors. And the first seen Michael B. Jordan ever directed. That was the first time that we met in the movie, you know, after all those years, so I wanted it to be the first scene up so we can play on that natural awkwardness, where I wanted it to feel like they were picking up right where they left off 20 years ago, but then right in the same breath, have a moment of, I don't know this man and I don't know this person either. And I think it was really key in terms of how he wanted to

Are You Where You Want to Be?

"You, but it's the getting to be mid February. I mean, we're riding in the middle of February, getting a little bit over. We've been into 2023 if you can believe it for almost 8 weeks now coming up on late weeks. And you know, one of the things that I hear a lot about and I read about it, and especially I've been doing a lot of flying a lot of planes. You see these stories that are always the first year about goals, goal setting, you know, are you hitting where you want to be in your professional life, your career, your family life, you know, just the different areas and I've been thinking a lot about this. And this is one I thought about today and we've had a lot of news stuff lately and going through, but I wanted to just take the time today and this one is one of those that's as much as I deal with and struggle with is as I feel like most of our most people do. And it's coming up and you always find that one or two people that can always say, here's my goals, here's my piece of paper, they keep it in their pocket. You know, whatever, you know, you've seen those people. And they're so goal orientated that everything they do is focus to that one go. You see this sports a lot. We've talked about it over the past weekend with the Super Bowl. You see it in, you know, they make your championships, you see those great players, that intense focus. I mean, Michael Jordan, you know, in that intense focus off the court. Deion Sanders, you know, saying that his best plays that he ever had were never on the field. They were always in practice. It was always that practice that got him to his goals and got him to worry, you know, he wanted to be. And I think these are the kind of things, you know, Kobe Bryant, you know, again, that intense focus. Making sure that when time to achieve and time to reform was there, they were they were at it. But you know, not all of us, in fact, most of us are not professional athletes. Most of us are not, you know, high profile figures that excel in something like that on a grand stage that everybody sees. But the reality is, is all of us perform on our own stage. We

Stephen A. Smith: The Epitome of the American Dream

"I wouldn't say it's all been a dream what I would tell you is that I believe where I am today I am the epitome of the American Dream What I mean by that is that what I've said on many occasions in the past mark when I've been on TV is that when you look at superstars the Lebrons Jacoby's got arrested so Michael Jordan's shack and Derek G and all of these stars They're not the American Dream They're American fantasies Becoming reality Omni American Dream because I didn't have those gifts I wasn't that spectacular I just put my head down and worked my tail off scratched and clawed and worked my way into being in the position that I'm in the day where I live a relatively simple life I've been blessed and fortunate enough to be able to provide for my family to have a beautiful home to have loved ones in an inner circle to be gainfully employed to me that's the American Dream I think that one of the things that we look at in this world today is that some of the reasons why we have so much salacious nonsense so much stupidity and along with various other words that you could come up with a hell of a lot better than me is that you have people chasing the fantasy and willing to exhaust every means and every measure to get it as opposed to being able to be willing rather to put in the work You look at reality television Hey let's make it happen Let me do this show or whatever They paid the some guy from Jersey Shore or whatever the situation He once got paid $500 $5 million I'm sorry And my nephew you know God bless them with would come to me and with a proposal So he could sit up there and make $5 million too And I was like what happened to getting education What happened to put your head down to putting in the work and not trying to look for a quick fix That's why I consider myself the American Dream

"I wouldn't be happy about this issue. I think we're on the same page. I would not be happy. I'd be like, I'm sorry. I can't do this. Could you imagine sitting down at a dinner table with your ex or with your significant other and their ex and be like, we're all Friends. Let's have a drink together. Yeah, especially if they were like, it was a close relationship for a while and then all of a sudden you're just like best Friends. I don't I don't think you're immature at all. I think this is valid. That's what she's saying. You know what kills me about this whole thing, though, is everybody is so surprised at Lori Harvey. And it's amazing to me how they want to judge this young woman because she says, look, if I'm dating you and then, you know, it happens that we don't get along. I move on to the next. And it's funny because it's so liberating whereas she's saying, I don't just get one guy and I'm gonna stay with him. If it's not working out, I move on. So a lot of people try to, you know, preface it with, oh, she's a whole. She's a that. No. I think she's what dating is grown. Merry Christmas. Yeah. This is what you see. You see a red flag, you don't like it, it doesn't feel good. You go find somebody that makes you feel better. You don't just sit there and say, well, let me just compromise for a little bit. And we'll figure this out together. Let's have peace talk. Because people couldn't believe because it was Michael B. Jordan. That she would break up with him. It's like, honey, she surprised too. Yeah. And that's what I always tell women. Date, when we say date, it's like, if you're not feeling something, move on to the next, she knows her worth. When you know your work, you got yes, Michael B. Jordan, first of all, she's helping him out because maybe she's saying, a totally. Sign you somebody that's really gonna make you happy 'cause you're not making me happy. I'm not making you happy. Let's move on. She's not rushing in a marriage. She knows who she is. I think that is such a great message for all people men and women. We're looking for partners. And you see each other a lot of grief. Keeping something that bothers you and just prolonging and prolonging. And if it's like, you know, you're dating and it's not working out. It's just best to say that. Exactly. And you know what I like about it? She's not being messy about it. She took down those pictures, and you ain't heard her say, you ain't heard her mention his name ever again. She's just talking about how she dates because everybody's so interested in it. Now what's messy is this moving on. And Denise Richards, Denise says she felt guilty for years for splitting up her family when she left Charlie. Now she's telling the divorce not dead podcast what finally made her call it quits. I said to myself, would I want my daughters to be married to this man? No offense to him, but it's true. And I think he would take that. He would understand what I'm saying. And that's when I was like, well, why am I accepting this? Should all people be asking themselves this question? Would my daughters marry this man? First of all, I got daughter, so but neither. Me neither. We are the daughters here. We're all. We are. But you have children. That's the first question I think you should ask yourself when you're going into the relationship. Like, would I feel comfortable having children with this person? Would they, if this was my daughter, could you imagine them marrying a human like this? And if it's a no, you gotta listen to that intuition. That's the first thing I ask myself. Yeah. You know? Like, I just wouldn't, I don't know. I can't see how people can just be like, yeah, you know, let's just look past this for a while. And then all of a sudden those feelings boil up and it comes back, you know, those secret messages are hiding. It comes back. Yes, I should have listened to that right away. Definitely. Kids, really. No, but kids are important. And if you put if the kids weren't in this situation, do you think she would have stayed with him? No. I don't think so. Yeah. I think he was at a certain point. Oh, they're so cute. I think they were at a certain point in their relationship where, you know, he's going through his own things. And when you're dealing with someone that's going through the things that he was, you know, allegedly going through and we all kind of publicly saw it. You have to choose yourself. It goes back to that Lori Harvey thing. Am I going to choose myself? Am I going to try to help my partner? Yes, I'm going to try to help him as much as I can. But if he's not wanting help or if he's, you know, a certain point, you have to ask yourself, what am I doing? And am I going to choose myself first? But listen, when you're a mom, you feel guilty about a lot of things. And I bet that ate at her for a while before she did it. And when she announced that she was splitting so hard. And so she said she didn't want to, you know, split up the family because you know, in America, we have this world if this is your father, you got to stay with them. You got to be with them. You know, I'm protect him and everything, but it's like if he's not changing, what do you do? Right. You got to choose. She still feels guilty. You can tell. Yeah. But we're saying it's okay. I mean, I can't imagine what it's like to be a parent because I saw my dog this morning and I looked at him and I said straight to his face, you have a thick neck.

You ain't gotta scrub what you don't post, but when people scrub their IGs and scrub their mans on women's off of it. That means that the conscious uncoupling was not as conscious as we thought. Really? Maybe you just, I mean, it's over, so maybe you don't want people going back to the comments saying things. You know, so you just archive it, or you get rid of it, and then you move on with your life. That's it. It doesn't mean that you're mad at them or that you don't want to do with them. Because if you were, I would post, you know how you post messages like, you know, the wind is not the wind because the wind is cheating when. That's what you hold on. You guys who don't know, there are a few stages in a breakup. Okay. Is the cleaning seat? Right. Were you clean your social and you clean your house and your purge, all the things that remind you of them in the house. Then you move on to the inspirational quote. I am somebody. I am more than you. Then you move on to the disappearing act. Where you go, wait for 30 days, maybe you chop your hair just so when you get a fly post, you do the flop house you like this. "Enjoy my work. My kids my creative self that sometimes I got stifled. And maybe in the future, you know, you never know, well, I do know I want to marry again, but I just mean you never know about love. But it's one of those things where it's like, I think we're engineered, especially from where I'm from. To like have to have that. And I don't have that need. What do you guys think about this? I feel like personally, where she's at. I mean, she obviously was married. She has children. She went through. I think just now finishing a pretty messy messy do not great divorce. I feel like I understand her mindset of being like, I never want to do that again. It's not for me, but I also feel like that could change. I feel like ten years down the road, she meets the right person she might feel differently, but I also feel like marriage can be something that like once you've checked that box, you don't need to necessarily revisit. Yeah, and I think she said that. You know, so much about the ideas of our life come from the culture that we grow up in sometimes when you go through an experience you recognize like, oh, I don't need that, or that doesn't suit me anymore. Whatever. And I think that's a perfectly healthy thing. And again, she said, you know, right now, this is my focus, and maybe eventually I'll want a partner, but I don't need that right now. And I think that that's a really healthy mindset to be. I a 100% agree. What do you think? I think it's more about, you know, self hap, because for me, I didn't get into a relationship because I needed that person to be happy. I feel like marriage and relationships are when you're happy with yourself because the only way you can be happy with someone else if you're happy with yourself. Relationships are you on your path and you find someone that's on the same trajectory as you. Yeah, I'm married now. I never want to be with my wife forever. Do I think I'd ever get married again? Absolutely not. But I think there's the difference between married again and in a relationship again. Right. You know, a huge no man's thing is, you know, when you build that with that one person, it's kind of hard to do it. Yeah, and divorce is don't leave me, baby. Divorce is devastating. And it took me a really long time before I could even articulate that I want that I even thought I wanted to get married again. Would you get married again? Yes, I would. But I mean, it took me 5 years to get to that point. A big wedding? A small wedding. Probably smaller, like my first wedding was, which is crazy to say, but my first wedding, we probably had like a 130 guests. So I think I would definitely pair it down. Especially now after COVID. Yeah. It's the best thing in the world. You just don't have to invite anything. And it goes both ways. You can say, hey man, we're having a party. And you gotta wear a mask. Mask, I don't wear masks, or they can cause a man we're having a party and there's no mass. No mask? Every day is like a different set of rules. I want you a 100%. I wonder how important marriage really is in general these days. I feel like people feel very differently about it now than they did. I mean, people don't feel the pressure to be married as much as they used to. I feel like they've made it into a contract because see, I grew up in my mind raisman church. And when I look at Bible stories, happy were married. It wasn't as business as it is now. It was two people committed to each other. But now it's like, well, I gotta say it wasn't always two people. I mean, really, if you're talking about biblically, there were tons of wildlife being David had a lot of watches. So I was gonna say that about people saying more about the paperwork. The everything you have to go through to instead of it saying we're done. You can't just say we're done and move on. You got to do this paperwork. Then you got to do this. It's like, it's not a business. Yeah. Because you are combining two different people two different lives, two different bank accounts, two different assets. I mean, things do build up over relationships. So on one hand, it's like, you kind of need that contract to be in place to be able to sort of smoothly exit. I mean, that's the intention, at least, but I do feel like people are doing relationships in their own way now. And I do feel like if you've been married, you have kids and you want to get married again. That's wonderful, but you don't necessarily have to get married because you've already sort of done the kid. Not that you need to be married to have kids, but I feel like that's why people get married most of them. Especially people should just do what fits for them. If they were agreed to a 100% want to be in a relationship in relationship, they find someone that want to get married and get married. I mean, it's going back to what we were talking about before. Your happiness has to be defined by you. Yes. And obviously there are influences from your childhood from your community from your culture, but then ultimately you get to a place where you decide what works for you. Your relationship should be additive to your happiness on your entire happiness. We're so good. All right. Michael B. Nike CEO John Donahoe's Lessons on Servant Leadership

"What star. John rains that i am most associate with you. Which is servant leadership. And i'd love if you could describe your philosophy on servant leadership especially try to conceptualize it for much smaller organizations. What does it mean to serve leader as a ceo of a bunch of ceo's around the table how should they think about how that philosophy conform away they run their business so when i talk about servant leadership. It's frankly the the way. I learned to lead because i actually learned the lead in partnership a ban where you aren't really empowered to do anything to you have to earn the respect and the followership of others. You guys don't have that as founders. But i do think you'll find that. Many of the best leaders exhibited the principles servant leadership. And i just say how do i serve serve. The purpose of the organization serve the customers served. The employees serve the communities in which we operate in a jim collins called at level five leadership other people call from things. But it's when someone it's not about the leader it's about what it is. We are trying to accomplish right and some of the antithesis of what's hot silicon valley at different times the narrative. Always around the all-powerful founder. They're all powerful leader. And i think there's actually very few examples where that actually great sustainable companies come out of that my leadership role model for large parts of my career with phil jackson of the chicago bulls. Now it'd be steve kerr for your younger and would always struck me. He was able to do is get people who actually were better than he was klay. Together he got michael jordan. Scottie pippen dennis. "Talk to us a little bit about our zero. What is it that you guys are doing. how are you adding value to the healthcare ecosystem. Yes so it was almost sixteen months ago. Now with the academic. I started a a ticket hold. I got in touch with the two mentors in mind. Both entrepreneurs who i've known for about a decade and the three of us started talking about how there's certain events throughout history that just create everlasting societal and infrastructural changes in a dork way. We kinda like in what was happening of the pandemic to nine eleven. How after nine eleven. We have the department of homeland security. You have. tsa fourteen thousand agents. You still can't take a water bottle of where shoes through the airport. You go to a ballgame. You walk through a metal detector. These are all new standards that were created and adopted post nine eleven in some of these psychological star tissue after that event accelerated decrease adoption of those standards. But we never arrest fundamentally the world took on a new posture around security in all shared spaces at our thesis. Fear was at this event of the pandemic was going to broaden that word security to biosecurity to biosafety and in the standards that all organizations are gonna fold as they regard a human health in the safety of their staff their patrons of their communities at large so what we did. I mean there's there's a lot of limitations there one is. They're not always that effective. I've Hired Several Coaches, but No Improvements. What's Wrong With Me?

"Hey i've hired three business coaches. They've all felt like a waste of time and money. And i haven't seen any improvements what's going on. There's something wrong with me. My doing this wrong. what's happening. Well i want to answer this question to make sure i also address. Everybody was listening. That my have a similar question thinking about hiring a coach or have higher coach. Maybe didn't see the results are looking for on a star by saying i have gone through this several times. I've hired coaches have a lot of experience. And not all. My experiences with coaches have been the same. I i have to say a quick If you have a coach if you hire a coach and they give you instructions if they give you a action items to do a plan and you don't implement you actually do the work it doesn't matter. What kind of coach you have. You have to actually follow through. So i know this kind of obvious but a lot of people i've met along the way have hired coaches and ask them. How's it working out like not so great as it will. What does the coach advising you to do. All of they're telling me to do xyz. We'll have you done xyz and they're like a not really not sure. If i should and that really is the biggest red flag for me when it comes to hiring a coach. Don't go down the road of hiring a coach if you're don't a hundred percent trust this coach and believe what they say you should do is worth doing because the whole point of hiring coaches saying. Hey i'm allowing somebody else to advise me on how to move forward. And i'm willing to do what i need to do to make. It happen very similar in sports. You know one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time is phil jackson. He coached michael. Jordan scottie pippen but he also coached the lay kobe bryant shaquille o'neal a lotta great players but these players would not be great would not achieve their level of excellence if they didn't allow themselves to be coached if they allow themselves to follow through. And do what the coaches asking them to do.

What Does the Future of Money Look Like?

"Jordan. Heath rawlings is the big story. Michael doyle is a freelance reporter and journalist based in toronto who examined the future of money in canada for the globe in mail. Hi michael jordan. Can you start us off. Just because it's such a useful way to think about this. At least i found it useful by telling us the story of money on the island of yap certainly Yup is a tiny island. That is now part of micronesia in the south pacific and for hundreds of years. They had a very unusual form of currency and that was these gigantic limestone rocks and the bigger they were the more valuable they were and also of course the bigger they were the more difficult they were to actually physically exchange with each other so over time they Just left the rocks where they were and In order for them to figure out who owned which rock which note of currency for lack of better term. They created basically a form of a ledger. And in the form of an oral history of who owned each rock and how the rocks transacted from person to person on the island and so that's how they effectively did business. That's how they exchanged Goods and services for hundreds of years. Now tell me how that relates to wear. Our use of money is heading certainly It's actually a really great analogy. Because in one example it sort of captures a snapshot of what money has been for hundreds if not thousands of years since the since we came up with the idea of money however long ago that was And at the same time it also short sort of shows us where technology is going to change money in the near future so the question of what money is a really weird thing. it's kind of like a philosophical rabbit hole. You go down but at it. Sort of core form money is

"She's an exception. She is for me to say that that's like, kind of like buying her flowers out of the out of the blue and she's like, What did you do? Oh, yeah, but don't tell her. I said so. I'll let her know that that's it's easier that would work. Okay. All right. So did you like things heard and seen. I did like I said, sort of like separation. It's not the best horror movie I've seen. But it's a nice little creepy movie. You could watch the lights off, all right. Then one with a lot of gunfire and explosions without remorse. Yes, this is on Amazon Prime right now. And it is a new attempt to bring the life one of the other Tom Clancy characters that are very well loved second to Jack Ryan. You've got John Clark or John Kelly. I was. He starts out in this movie. And while it's not exactly a retelling of the original book from the nineties It sort of sets the stage for him as a character in a in a larger universe. In this movie, Michael B. Jordan plays the character of John Calley, whose he's a Navy seal and some of his team is killed in an assassination attempt and the end of killing his wife. And so he goes on this international mission of revenge. Find who Who did this? Who's responsible and to hold them accountable for it. You know, it works well, for sort of an action movie was originally supposed to go to theaters got put on the Net are Excuse me, Amazon. Because of the pandemic. I think part of the reason Amazon pounced on this is because they already have a Jack Ryan Syria's I'll bet you that they're hoping to get, you know, develop even more of this for for later. Character of the John Kelly, John Clark character, you know, it works fine. I like to see Michael B. Jordan do a little bit. Maura and have a little bit more depth because I'm getting kind of tired of just seeing him play the angry young man, which is he's done in Crete and and its sequel, so I'm hoping for something beyond this. Although it's not a bad little action there more Jack Ryan's coming and they also is all done. Well, they've got a jack right Syriza on Amazon right now on two seasons and starts John Krasinski as the title character, And I mean that the one is that the one I already saw? Uh, the second season came out. I think last year for this one. All the double check. I forget. It's not a bad little syriza. I will say it. It works. Yeah, I think that maybe I watched once, one Syriza or one season and it was pretty good. Yeah. All right. What's there, Wes? It's more for the kids. I guess it's the Mitchells versus the machines. Yes, this is another one that was supposed to go to theaters got pivoted to Netflix for the pandemic. And it's in a reverence animated film. It's done by the same people who did into the spider verse in the Lego movie. So it has that sort of pop culture, a reverence, craziness and hyperactivity. That's a lot of fun in the movie. It's about this. It's about this mystic family that goes on this unexpected road trip, and then they end up having to save the world from the robot apocalypse, So it's kind of out there. It's got the science fiction element. It's got its very high energy, but it's also very funny, and it's really grounded with a lot of heart to it. I really enjoyed this movie. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. It was one of those that I started watching, and I just had a blast watching all the way through. Perfect family viewing for the weekend. Can't be that that was the Mitchells and the machines on Netflix. All right, I got my marching words Things to do that's coming to the weather's too nice. Yeah, it starts raining Monday. I want him then That's right. You can use to go line them all up on street. All right. Kevin Carr got Iran but fat guys the movies dot com We can.

And if that last name sounds familiar, it all she is a step daughter of family feud host Steve Harvey. Mm. Yes, She is. 24 years old. I guess they've been dating for months. Now. Over the weekend. They both posted pictures, Intimate photos, Kiss sees and smiling and out in front of the holiday lights on their separate instagrams. Had the response is hilarious. Why so we have on one side, he'll great. Congratulations is what a beautiful couple and then we have some You were tweeting out like Laurie Harvey will be collecting infinity stones from these jets. Personally, I stand, another woman says My ultimate goal is to think like Laurie Harvey, which of course, is a playoff of think like a man Steve Harvey's book. And there's lots of tweets about that, too, because in his book, he says to wait 90 days before you really become serious, and it looks like they have on their on the fast track to revealing. Not only are they together, but Becoming more see a serious relationship. I just love it that when you're on instagram like we make an instagram official that's the new thing like he used to be Remember, it used to be when you change the relationship status on Facebook. And now now who cares about nobody's on Facebook anymore? Now, are you making it Instagram official? Yes or no? Are you tweeted about it? One of the two just it's big deal. Someone, says Laurie Harvey the goat. Then we have the office. It was about one woman's tweets out me. Who has zero chance of being with Michael B. Jordan today when my friend showed me these photos of him and Laurie Harvey, and it's a little video of usher realizing that girlfriends moved on. He's like, Wait a second. Wait. Can you explain that again? Hold on, and in the end, he's holding his head. Just like in disdain. Oh, Another woman says. Today's been tough, but I'll be okay. If you're also grieving. The news of Michael B. Jordan and Laurie Harvey. I know you're not alone. I know what's funny is like any of us have a chance or had a chance. Or you know what I mean. It's like, come on. Come on, But, yeah, I mean, this is a real thing Like, how do you appeal to the public? Some people want to seem like they're single. And their agents tell them do not go public with your relationship because you're a leading man. Or you're leading woman. Yeah, there has to be like theirs. Crack in the door that maybe she can walk through or he can walk through Kenny and I kept our love affair Well, until last October. I think that's when we reveal that we kept it a secret. Yeah, Nobody knew what I regret it now every great I wish would've. I wish Kenny and I would have just kept it something for us. There's something special for us. No very discouraged. Yeah, but no, it is. I mean, it's a real thing. It gives people Oh, I have a chance. If I if I see him in a restaurant, he may come me make him over and fall in love with me instantly. And like, come on police. That doesn't happen. Nobody ever imagine being that person. The non famous person or the person that that can't reveal, But you're in this relationship. Yeah. And everyone like the thirsty tweets, and I'm sure the dams that they get and just keeping in public the comments that they get the DMZ. I would pay a good chunk of money to see the D ems the direct messages. That Michael B. Jordan gets on a daily basis in his instagram thing. Can you imagine what people say to him that I mean, that would get? I mean, I think it would be. Maybe when you first hit that fame level would be intoxicating and a compliment. But after a while, I think it would get obnoxious for, you know. Have received. Message After message of Murphy pervy a wolf you meet me at the Red Roof Inn. So way learned yesterday If we were studying our instagram like good boys and girls we learned you already know that Michael B. Jordan and Laurie Harvey, you're dating and probably getting it on. Yep. We learned yesterday that Michael B calls Laurie, his girlfriend, Turtle. Yep. And she calls him nugget, okay? Hurdle and nuggets She's ever heard that Butt Nuggets song We played earlier this week, but Nugget That would be a good nickname for him. Actually do that, My butt my butt Nugget s O Turtle and nugget. Those of the pet names that Michael B. Jordan. I'm glad somebody found this out. Do you remember? I remember years ago when we it was Jay Z. We were interviewing and I asked him I was like Beyonc have pet names for each other. Like you call her Smoochy and she call you and he literally was like, man. We don't do that, you know, and I was like, come on. She's your girlfriend, and they weren't married yet. So Yeah, he said, no. We don't participate in that I remember And he said, we answered. It was like I'm an idiot for asking that question. Do you radio? You and your wife have them radio Do you want to see you don't have to. We could say it's good. It's really Stupid. What do you call? What is your pet name for your wife? I call her. You're not gonna believe this, but we've never had this suspect. Kohler. Grasshopper Grasshopper. Okay? Yes, Grasshopper? Yes, because when I was young My father and my granddad would always say. Come here. Little grasshopper like it was their sign of endearment. Lee. That was only the young little spread. Very aggressive. So I called the grasshopper. Okay. What does she call you? You're gonna agree, Big Papa. Stinky, stinky yet, But she says it endearingly 100% 0. My stink If you called it right now, it says what Shaggy's nickname for you should, like stinking like It's completely corny, but it's crass upper instinct. Well, that is, It's just ours. Like no one else. I guarantee you there's no one listening going. Nope. That's me. What if you get a Valentine's card for this year to Grasshopper, Grasshopper, love stinking? Absolutely all that's adorable. It's super corny. What about you? Call. Do you not want to say no? I think I call Nicole Bella. That's right. Yep. We knew that means beautiful in Italian because she is both. And she used when we dated. She used to call me boo face. But that stopped when we got married. Now she calls me something else that I can't say on the air face that ends with head not face Got, you know, but no. Yeah, but I have noticed the pet names stopped. I still still always call her Bella. Don't even think I've ever. I don't think I've called her Nicole. Unless I You know, I'm angry about something like Nicole s O Bella's 24 7. Yes, it's always belt and when she's in when you're upset, that's when the Nicole name comes. Yeah, yeah, I'm angry that it's like Nicole. So whole thing about Nikki. Kicking stinky for me is I win all the time when I do stick when I don't see a stinky and you have a glitch it excuse to remain stinky. Like I don't want to take a shower now. Then I won't be your your little stinky and behind the door. You can joke all the time. I probably take four showers a day, So I genuinely and the cleanest person you probably ever meet. It's like datable. That's fine. I'm the only one that comes in with a wet head. Meaning I shower in the morning. But you know what I always wondered was, uh, the she feels she fell a couple calling you shaggy. No, that's so not know such a radio personality thing. Yeah, Yes, she would never call you. No, no. Unless it was to mock you. Not even like when we first got together, like during intimate time. No, right. No, no. So she never told friends. I'm dating shag? Absolutely not. 1000% never said that there would be their girlfriends of hers. That found out like a year later. That's why wasn't it like why you tell us and she would roll her eyes like annoyed? No, She's my 1000. I could say, Babe. This morning. The radio we did x Y Z and she'll look at me like she's completely decisions, right if you are listening this morning, if you're kind of bored, and you want to contribute to the show, and you want to text us, I'd love to know if you know this doesn't have to be your career relationship. Maybe you were in a pastor. The ship was the weirdest pet name or what is what is your pet name? I mean it. Maybe it's a cute one. Maybe it's turtle lover, something we don't care. But if there's a pet name that you have for for somebody that your relationship with or maybe they had You especially even has a story behind it, You know, like if it's nugget, but it's because they saved you from choking on a chicken nugget. Well, then that's kind of interesting. So let us know text us our techs, Linus 75714, and when we come back, we should. Yeah. Sorry to interrupt. You forgot. We gotta give away a short week.
