"The rear. Of the field, and it's interesting that we haven't seen the front of the field come through. So what? Let's try to get some clarification on Brian Marine. Well, it's exactly what you were about to hands out there. I think, Marc Monkey see Monkey do down here on the north End of Faith Lane. All of these drivers and teams watching Scott Dixon and that was to come into pit lane. He would they would come into paint line. And Scott stayed out. They stayed out. Let's go today. First, there was absolutely no chance that Scott Dixon was gonna hit pit lane at all. Track position is everything right now, especially with just over 50 laps remaining, did see a pit stop. Rita speaking again. No mark one of those guys towards the back of the field, Rob Bowden. Indeed, Guy's feelings. Rose was coming in as well for tricky, nasty racing. Pressing the reset button. We know that he had gone long on that last and had just come in, actually. He elected to come in. They put fresh sticker Firestone's on Zack Beach in as well. So I think about Rosenquist now reset the button to see what we could do over the last 50 laps. Thank you guys. Great stuff from from pit road. It is time now to hear from the historian of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Donald Davidson and Battles had information that we talked earlier. About laps led now. Donald wants to update us on Drivers who were starting to climb the charts in terms of laps completed here in the Indianapolis 500. The record for total number of laps completed in 500 history by a driver is 4909 by a. J. Foyt. Ranking. Second is Adeline, sir. And third. I have surprisingly, is Elio Custom. Next Come Al Unser Jr and Gordon John Cock, followed by current driver's Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon. A niche Mario and ready buddy list here on our Reliant Ike. While among the second tenor Johnny Rutherford, Bobby Answer. Mari Rose, Cliff Brazier, Lloyd Ruby, Michael Andretti, Gary Back now, Sin and Rick Mears. Watch. This 15th is Marco and ready. What he just got here on 11th Has Ed Carpenter hard for us to believe what Just 151 more laps completed. Ed conference would move ahead of our reliant like enoughto 10th in the or time standings on 193 laps for Marco would balled him to 12th. It used to be about Jim Wrath one and Will Bashar and Louis Meyer and Roger Ward, but a few of the current follows of rather snuck up on us. Thank you, Donald. Great stuff again. Donald in the booth with us for this 500 Davey, But we certainly wanted to make sure that damnable sable toe offer his outstanding contribution. We're thrilled to have it with us and in any way that we could get him for sure. Well, and the things that he brings up the stories he tells from the history of this race track is so incredible like, though that is amazing. Marco Andretti. That high on collapse completed here like it seems like he's still young kid, but he's been here. I think this is the 15th Andy 500. Now we saw Davey a handful of guys not wanting Teo to risk it. In terms of that track position where we did see a handful. We should say come to pit road, But more than a handful not wanting to give up Is that far from the way that try? It's very interesting. I think of Scott Dixon. What a pity How most most everybody what it came down, but it's kind of like they do with the leader. Does they have some other sleeve? They still have some time to go? The thing is, he tried not to make green fight pit stops. If you don't have to. If this goes green rest away. Some of these guys sort of back pain that may put them in contention will just have to wait. See that again. Alexander Rossi is out of this race very much in contention. In the case. You're just joining us. Rossi Dixon swapping the lead trying to gain some advantage. Hey, comes out of this pit box. He runs into the car of Takuma Sato. Race controlled makes the decision because of avoidable contact or contact on pit road. Rossi was set back to the 21st position. He brought out this caution to rob Blackman. And indeed I'm standing beside our generosity right here. First question. Alexander what happened there in turn to to cause that accident spun For clarification for our listeners penalty imposed against you running into sort of their own pit lane. What exactly happened there? Well, I don't know, right? I mean, I'm just going on the directive of What I'm being told in being sent. It is very minor contact. Juma's moving reaction and over 200 miles an hour on restarts, and he doesn't get a penalty. I don't know it's it's I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I just don't understand it right now, and we'll have tto talk about it. I think that's pretty aggressive toe. Send these to the back of the line. Halfway through a five mile race for really something pretty pretty benign. Thank you. Good stuff, Rob like that, in a very difficult situation, And we appreciate.

"Left to go in the 500 Michael is slowing. The rest of the field is coming past Michael call from Paul Page in 1992. Michael Andretti never sat on the pole, either, but he holds the record for most laps led in the 500 by a driver never to win the race. His son, Marco has also come close several times came within yards of winning. It is a 19 year old in 2006, but he also was third three times after that, and fourth one. Marco Andretti sits on the pole this time around, he says, This is his best chance ever to win the 500. Kirk Darling 93 Double D, Y B. C on race day and Kurt. He gets to the pole with 231 MPH in just a little shade over that just edging out Scott Dixon and he is standing by now with our great Rakestraw has had the opportunity to speak with him. He is better known as the pole sitter for the 2020 Indianapolis 500 Mile race. It is Marco Andretti that joins us now, Marco, It's Greg. Great strong with you. How you doing, man? I'm doing great. Been a heck of a week. At what point in time. Did you realize Hey I've got a really fast racecar for this month, but we rolled off quick in the first hurdle at the speedway speed. Handa and Honda brought it with the horsepower and the US concrete boys put together a heck of a bullet for me, So we've just been Steady on We have been at the top three all. Ah, you know, a week and then you know, the last 34 days. We've been quickest. Every time we go out on track. I mean, it's been a dream, so I'm not going to try to assess it too much. When you're a driver out there, you know, it's it's impossible for the untrained naked eye to see the difference in saying somebody going to 29 somebody going to 31. What? What signifies those things to you as a guy that's not done this for 15 years. Well, I mean, you know when you're actually driving once Europe over 202 10 to 20 you start to actually feel the difference of a mile an hour. You know, you get to see the red light and it feels a bit quicker, but The difference between me and Scott Dixon that's like almost unmeasurable, So I'm so happy. We're on the better end of that. Obviously, you dream of winning the 500, not necessarily the 500 pole. But what does the ability to start this race? Front row C inside position? What does that mean for you? I think there's going to be one of them. The more Ah track position dependent races. So you know, the first hurdle is qualifying, You know, so we have the track position to start. Now my job to keep it and you know, it's just going to have to be. Ah, you no good in and out left good pit stops and, you know, good restarts. And then he's going to be an element of Ah, unknown going to be thrown out all of us. Hopefully I, you know better than others, And then there's going to be the element of if the stars were goingto line. I'm a luck standpoint or not, And you know, all we can do is do everything in our power to maximize and were able to do that. We might be in the 500. Lot of your friends were very cool towards you in the paddock yesterday. It was really cool to see Scott Dixon. Takuma Sato, the Penske guys and others immediately make it a point to say. Hey, congratulations. What was that feeling like? I mean, when you're when you're able to get your respect, he appears and your competitors. I mean, it's so humbling is so special and I think a lot of them have witnessed me going through a lot of heartbreak in this sport and just coming up short and dominating races and having something happened and so You don't see it that often So I was really, really honored. There is not a shortage of very talented people that are going to be in your ear over the course of the next few days. Whether it's your dad, whether it's your grandfather, you do have a guy like Bryan Herta, that works with you on a regular basis and some very talented teammates that have won this race as well. Who is the person? You will likely talked to the most between now and Sunday? Um I don't know. I think I worked really closely with Brian heard, I think when, when Meet him in my engineer execute and we end up We end up bringing the whole the whole team along with what we're doing. You know, if we just I find we do our best work when You know, we're just focusing on our own program. You know, I'm obviously going to be a sponge when I talked to my dad and grandfather and stuff, but Yeah. I mean, we've been working really good within the 98. You have dreamed this dream for so long before even kind of cognitively thought about it. But now that here we are your on the pole, you're going to lead the field to the green flag. Can you begin to put into words what it would mean if you're the first guy to see the checkered flag about three hours after that, I know my answer for that, though he's been I'm not sure what it's gonna feel like you might be more than a few grown men cry would be would be pretty awesome because of how close we've been out dominant. We've been in the family, but but you just come up. Short. So, um, yeah, I would just be unbelievable. What would it have been like? If there were fans that could have roared inside of the facility. When you win that pole? Maybe you could hear some of the ones that were outside of the track that we're cheering for you. So just your thoughts on on again What This has been like to do this at a virtually empty Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It's definitely different. It's a double edged sword. Because, selfishly Ah, um I would have loved to sell Great with fans. I think the place would have absolutely erupted and you know, but on the other hand, the alternative is we're not racing at. All right. So I think the world really need sports right now, if we could do it in a safe way with under Roger and everything. I mean, we're doing everything under the protocols and You know, so hopefully we get good viewership and we put on a good show. And then it will just be looked at as a you know, a different type of year. You know, hopefully, you know, there's a remedy for this soon and Wait. I'll get back to normal, but Marco Andretti rolling off number one Does he have the car? And we'll really the good fortune of winning his first coming up later on today. That is one of the story lines that we will be following Jeff and John pre race coverage here for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 continues on one of 75 93, 5, The fan and 93 W A. B C. Now I know, Thiss.

And since I've not been fulltime I've pretty much been hanging out with this team. So I know most of the guys as well already. So it's just it's super cool to be here, and obviously, you know, we have one job, and that's to try and win this race. We have one shot at it. And I would obviously love to be at this team more often. But to do that we probably have to have a really good race. Come may twenty sixth well in that being said, I just heard earlier today on the broadcast like Michael Andretti is going to be in your pit during the race. Yeah. I think so. Yeah Michael was on my stand for the for the test a couple of weeks ago too. And, you know, I like Michael, he's obviously, you know, one of the one of the most talented drivers. It's been around this place, so he knows what's going on knows how how it all works. So that'd be really cool. So be cool to obviously get a win for him as well. And yeah I mean I'm just I'm just excited to work with all these guys. There's such a such a very high level of professionalism, and all of their doing is like, nothing I've ever been a part of before. So it's, it's kind of it makes you even more excited. Well, you know let's talk about this year versus last year. And we'll talk about kind of the rest of your season. But I know last year, you know, you're one of those guys that were I know one point you had to be pretty nervous in the. Car because you are on the bubble there and you ended up qualifying in and things like that. I mean knowing that, and it's in the back of your head, just, like I know you gotta be thinking, I don't ever want to have to go through that again. Right. I mean, how do you this having been through that war that you were last year? Well, you know what's funny is like, I think it'll be the entire opposite this year. You know what I mean? I we want to be fighting for the fast nine now I mean, because, you know, obviously depending on what engine manufacturer is going to be fast as we obviously hope is going to be really good. But but its last year my car was doing the grand prix right now. The grand prix is tomorrow and my car that I was gonna use on the oval had to go through the grand prix first, and then we missed the entire first day of practice because we were we wrapping it, and setting it up, and it was, you know, in about one hundred different pieces for a long time, and we had a lot of guys working on it, and they did a great job putting it together but you never wanna be in that position. I mean we want to come to the Indy five hundred fully fully fully prepared an ex and really, really early. And my car is fully put together ready to go sit in at the shop right now. So that'll be nice to start in that position. To already be ahead of the game. And that's why I'm so pumped for it. And that's why I'm actually excited to qualify. Now. I'm excited to see, you know, hey can we fight for the poll or can we fight to be in the top nine that would be awesome? And that's what our goal is for sure. Well I'm talking about last year. I know after the Indy, five hundred you thought it was just going to be a one off. You ended up picking up a couple of IndyCar races later in the year. I mean I was at just to get back behind the wheel a couple of road courses and things like that. I know you know, you went from being a fulltime driver to last year. You know, kind of doing a one off I mean to feel pretty good just to get behind the wheel, and we had a really, really good run. I can't remember the track, maybe Portland, I think Toronto. Yeah, I can't remember as they're all blending together at this point. But, you know how is that then you kind of went from there and you were doing some sprint car stuff and some NASCAR.

"Zach the lines that good have you back. I think last time I caught up it was in person out at the Indy. Five hundred. So I don't know lots changed since then, man. Welcome back to the show. Thanks so much for having me. Yeah. I remember that in the garage. I think on one of the practice days so feels like a lifetime ago. And I think it's only been a little less than a year. Right. Exactly. I'm already looking plans for the five hundred this year. But yeah, a lot of change since then. I mean, you're number two IndyCar. We're you know, we're one race down. I mean, I guess the biggest thing is like tickets through last year because you know, I think even I know you going in you didn't really have a lot of expectations. I know as a driver. You know, what I mean, we always put a little bit of pressure on ourselves. You know? But I know even Michael Andretti's like, hey, this is going to be a learning year. You know, we're we're just gonna kinda see how things go. I mean take us through last year because you had some really high moments. I mean, I know how to couple of top fives. I think what was it Long Beach. You out a great run there. I mean, kind of take us through last year, and what you actually learned as driver. Yeah. For sure I mean last year, just honestly just feel like you got thrown the deep end and you're just trying to keep your head above water for the first half the season. But you know, I feel like we really came on strong say half the season we had four or five straight top ten finishes in the second half. We finishing that top ten on short oval superspeedway street. Gorse a road course. So I think, you know, the potential of starts come together for us that can have, but it was just relaxing and kinda getting comfortable in IndyCar. And so far that's just kind of carried over to this season. Winter testing was great. Thank he was little not what we expected. But luckily, we found out that there's a culprit there that was kinda make an struggle to find speed through qualifying and the race kinda showed it set. So luckily found that and I think we're we're all set to go for KOTA this weekend. Well and talking about KOTA this weekend. I know I gotta say this is one of the biggest, you know, one of the biggest news coming into twenty nineteen was that IndyCar is finally going to be at KOTA because of the Americas. I mean, I I know drivers have wanted to be there for a long time. I know fans not only in the United States internationally wanted to see Indy. Cars there. I kind of feel like man the spotlight is on this weekend. I think there's actually a lot of global attention. Just because Formula one does race fair. You know what I mean? And they and there's always that on the back burner. You know, what I mean people always wanna compare IndyCar Formula one, and I've never really thought it warranted comparisons. But I feel like you feel like heading into this weekend. There's a lot of eyeballs on this event. I really do. I think you know, has the potential thing. One of our crown jewel races of any. Only putting India out. There is not even a question. But you know, you have to Long Beach is the Saint Pete that's Ron of the ones that really stand out. I think coda is gonna fall in that category. And I think some people get in trouble of comparing if one Indy-Car in I think, they look at the speed different than, you know, they say, oh, well, you know, IndyCar is a little bit slower than f one around there. But I think comes down to who's going to put on a better show. And I think after just testing there for two days, just, you know, as the driver seeing you know, the work that we're having to put in to keep these things on the track with such a low amount of downforce in the high speed corners..

"They will say, you had an entrenched and you had them sitting in the car down over there and you're up onstage this whole time and. He is a very. I like Michael lot. I would call him undamaged as a public is a speaker as as as are most guys who wear helmets for a living? Yeah, they're not job, not their job, but I said, I shall be crucified. And then I proceeded to learn everything about this car and get up there and knock it out of the ballpark with all the stats and all the everything, and then bring Michael Andretti up on stage and ask him about his driving impressions. He was a little bit stifled and didn't come across very well, but he was up on state for half the presentation. And then everyone said to me, you knocked it out of the ballpark, and we ended up in the Ford room and they said, do you think this is a one man show? Why? Why were you off on stage alone? Why didn't you include the rest of your crew? And I said, well, I know you're never going to put this on the air, but your guy, the producer told. Specifically do a Steve Jobs presentation. So that's what I did. No, you're gonna cut all this out because you don't want anyone saying stuff you shouldn't be leading us on the air, and then the next part was and how come Michael Andretti wasn't the team captain. So those are the two Knox were, why did you do it alone? And why wasn't he the team captain two answers. One. He chose not to be the team captain that has that predates me that certainly has nothing to do with me that you cannot use that as one grain of salt against me. He chose not to do that number two. I did bring him up on stage for half the presentation. He was not dynamic number two. I did my solo thing and parched everyone else out in the crowd and in the trunk of the car and Bubba. But I did my soul thing because you guys describe to me, this is how it should be done, which you shouldn't have done. That person is not supposed to put their own. Flavor on things. They're just supposed to kind of tell you around rule, right and pin Gillette's head to what the guy said. So that's what happened to me. Now. That's how they showed it in its unedited entirety. That's the beauty of all this stuff it just now I just looked like I came across as sort of a Mike Hogg like all Handel this when I was nothing, there was not. My DEA would never would have done that. And I was, I gotta get everyone up on stage together because that is kind of death. If you go all handle this, if it turns out. Great, great. If it doesn't, you're going and you don't want is a horrible strategies. A team leader, you want to spread it out over five or six people and they'll boot out Lou frig now they wouldn't put me out. I know everything about cars and would have done a decent job which I did, but he did tell me to do the Steve Jobs presentation. And that's what ended up being doing now or the hill worry. Oh, after all these years. Yeah, I just don't. Okay. I don't care sling box in work. I was ready to go home. Farce, racist stuff goes, I don't really know what anyone's talking about. I've made plenty of racist jokes. Everyone I know is made plenty of racist jokes. I don't specifically remember Trump saying anything, but he may have any may made some jokes about this chick looking hot or whatever it is. It doesn't matter because it's neither fucking here nor there. If you're dealing with adults, what matters is going out and doing anything against another group or having a policy that affects them or whatever it is also, I don't know if in this modern age, you can.

"Com s t car dot com right well i've got rundowns of the truck race and xfinity race and all that but i think we could have done this in the green show but but i decided i'm gonna go ahead and throw it out there formula e you know it it's not it's not really geared towards america no it's more euro their their their season is well they don't have a lot of buehner they interviewed michael andretti okay because michael andretti as a team and bmw is the sponsor of the team so of course you dancer says what american driver are you gonna put behind the wheel of this car and very sheepishly michael said well it's not up to me it's up to be in w as their car so it's gonna be a european driver yes so we're not gonna have any american drivers within well formula e but that's okay that's surprised how formula e has had some setbacks i mean for pitting you have to go in and jump out of one car jump into another car that was not very well accepted by the motorsport community so they what they've done this year if they've totally revamped this car this is this is stage two model of the formula e and what they have done is they basically changed the complete design of this car now you can just google formula e stage to race card and it'll give you a really good story and photos they put the halo in it just like you'd see.
