"They were not only the polarizers. They were also the pulverized. In fact, if you go back through Soviet, well, depressed Soviet history, you basically see that in earlier centuries and I'm thinking here from about the tenth century to about the 15th century, the Russians were actually rarely in control of their own fate. Russia began with Kyiv, the city of Kyiv, and some surrounding cities that were collectively called Rus. While those cities were constantly under siege, Kyiv is in a kind of open territory, it was always being invaded by the Tatars. It was being invaded by the Mongols. It was invaded by all kinds of alien people. There was a time when even Poland was invading Russia, and there was a Polish Tsar who sat on the Russian throne. Now eventually there was an uprising. The man was overthrown he was killed. In fact, his head was shot out of a cannon in the direction of Poland. And so there's a very violent history here, but the point is that it took a long time. In fact, it took until Ivan the terrible, when Russia was able to break the force of the tartars, was able to break the force of external invaders and then the sort of center of Russia which had moved from Kyiv to what was then called muscovy because it was the Moscow river, now called Moscow, of course, and Moscow since then became the center became the center of Russia. Now, what about the Russian? What about the complicity of people like dostoevsky of Tolstoy? Were they crazy where they advocates of murder where they basically demented psychos? Now look, there's an element of craziness in these Russian novelists, particularly dostoevsky and Tolstoy. I would say the Targaryen of the third of that troika was a much more balanced figure. Turgenev was always trying to sort of on the one hand defend ancient Slavic culture at its best. At the same time to embrace science and modernity, he was trying to find that balance between the two forces that were pulling in different directions in Russia. With dostoevsky what you get is a guy whose I think very crazy streak enables him to see sort of deeper than most ordinary people into the soul. And this is kind of what I'm getting at. There's a line in the philosopher Nietzsche that's very revealing. He says that most things that we think about other people. We don't really admit to ourselves. And Micha gives the example of a relative, he says all your life you go through your life thinking, that was a great guy. I really like him. He's really interesting. He's really funny. I enjoy his company and so on. And then he just says, what happens if the guy suddenly dies? And you come into an inheritance. Nietzsche goes suddenly you realize, you actually have your relief that the guy died. Why? Because that facilitated your inheritance. Suddenly you realize that you're perfectly happy to dispose of the guy. You don't care about him that much. It's his money that's will make you happier than he ever could. And so suddenly this emotion of relief, which shows you, wow, you know, this is a kind of depraved and disgusting aspect of human nature, but there it is. And it's in you and you would never have known it if you weren't attentive to what you're immediate reaction was. Not your pretend reaction, not what you say later at the funeral, but what you actually thought when you first found out. And so this is what the Russian this is what Russian literature is really good at. It's really good at catching you out in your true feelings. Your true feelings, not just about inheritance, but also about an altery about murder, so dostoevsky and Tolstoy, they take these, I would call them forbidden zones of the human soul, and they don't hesitate to go there, and that's what makes the literature I think, particularly deep, particularly interesting because not because it is in complicity with evil, but because in some ways, I think, in revealing evil in its full macabre ferocity, it enables us to understand it and in the process also understand ourselves. "Corey heritage. Trust is a three ceo supporter. Welcome back you're listening to the spoarer. Blues a three cr radio program. My name's again should so so fi. You've been listening to an interview. That serious me. Cat did with my car. So they've been looking at calls play and so far they've discussed what it is and it isn't when i go to return to the second half of the conversation i feel like i've been very lucky so far because when i did stop cold play i was already quite like already interested in following the right people's following people who supported and other black women just black people in general you did it and i haven't had any negative interactions that is of yet any like racist commentary on online or whatever but they do say as soon as he starts skin a bigger following. Your account gets out there to the trolls. But i've seen it. I've definitely seen hateful. Comments made towards other people of color. Who decide to play non black characters or even when they uncles flaying black characters. It's been doing it correct enough and that even just that second hand racism. Sexism misogyny watkin rebel funny. Because then you start to have thoughts of. Why am i doing this. Like is it like we. It is crazy and you think what's the point of this much. Hate out there so he can be really discouraging for sure. Because i don't think people take the time to one to understand why somebody might be interested. Things like calls play To to understand that. This is a space for everybody. It's not exclusive to you. I think there's a lot of that mentality that like this. Fandom spaces afford a certain group of people who have a certain idea of what that looks like and black people often tend to challenge that. That's really fascinating kind of speaking to that idea of double consciousness as a consumer of popular culture. You're forced to you're aware of your position in society or at least how sometimes society views year. But then you also want to enjoy bees this media that out there even if the representation is not always favourable sir with that in mind like what do you think it is about. Fandom and 'cause play that draws say for example black folk to these genres to these creative spaces despite the lack of representation i mean with thinking of say for example talking about enemy. Know we're looking at you drag him ballsy and you business. Yeah sin jinx. Yeah definitely being very negative takes of black people in animated cartoons. And i guess that is truthful. Any medium really. That's just the reality of being a black person not to get a bit effort pessimist steak but unfortunately it is but to saying about what draws black people specifically like speaking myself as a black person to anime and some of these is. I have a theory at that a riot theory but it applies to me. I think a the people is when you grow up in predominantly white spaces. It's very hard to feel like he belonged to feel like you fit in and you constantly have a feeling of belong belonging you constantly other whether it's just basic the color of your skin your hair your coach all your family nudist different and i never me growing up in. When i started watching anime it was really cool to watch a cartoon that wasn't like australian. Like ernie had white people in it. And that was really cool and to see and these characters that you see like characters like narrator for example a character who are out costed within fisher then they'd are belong And they constantly ridiculed and our miss discriminated against but they still have this linguist wanna help people and to discover their best selves and to put themselves out there And you get to watch that. Janet character so i think in a way black people specifically in the diaspora lake surrounded by all the nece they project themselves onto those characters and and they ernest relate to them. Because it's like it's just a way to escape form of escapism. It's hard to find that in a lot of western shows sometimes just by the nature. it's not our culture. we don't resonate with it. I mean even though these characters they may be japanese base still speak to us in a way that western cartoons westbound nation hasn't been able to sometimes yet really interesting theory. I love it is a growing operation of people who are either yet. Grew up on these cartoons like you're saying the diaspora and then they start identify with characters and as time has gone on we've actually noticed more black characters or cartier being introduced a data made an atom. Yes and i mean just think about like the black panther release and how people felt it was just an amazing experience like us. Geeks nerds blurred. Whatever you wanna call us are finally on the big screen getting the recognition and it's becoming popular and you see that now. Things like anime cartoon superheroes they're not just beings that people do in their room align with no friends. It's part of our culture and it's popular in it's making its way into the mainstream and black people influence it a lot. Which is why we work really hard to fight against discrimination within the phantoms because often black people we do things and before you know it it's in the popular media and even just going back to what you were saying about How there's been a lack of representation of black people in animation. I think there are definitely being racist. Depictions of black people for shore by black people. Women have always been hidden anime. That's just we've always been always been creating we look at some of the most popular animated are created by women in when you look at alchemists on high school host club blackbutt law the most popular the biggest vendors created by women. Yet women still face the most amount of discrimination in these phantoms of oh you haven't seen dragon ball z. Then you must be anime. As if that's the only one of the standards are and these descends often created by white men and bashes the nature of things and it's unfortunate And even when we look at black people in anime we have canary from hunter hanta. Who's super popular. Black people love her and most. Recently we have miracles from my here academia. He's like bunny goal in their people like in hudson. Megan the stallion and even making the stallions tolkien anime. Like we love that. Yes like lack. Girls who a cool fund sexy on top of their shit can like anime to end but still people have density to question whether or not merca is. It even is black because they didn't want to see black people.

"Dot vic dot gov do ford flashbacks brief authorized by the victorian government. Melvin supporter this last weekend. Just passed was halloween for the horror. Fans out there. I hope you've enjoyed spooky season. And the sugar rush. I personally love halloween and love seeing everybody getting dressed up and getting into the spirit of dressing up this year and i was going to dress up his queen akasha from queen of the damned. Who was played by leeann in two thousand two so just like amazing goddess fives and could have like a lot of fun with that costume but unfortunately by the time i realized i wanted to do it was too late to order it. Unfortunately we're experiencing shipping delays. Where i'm at everything is just taking like an extra. We four five. Six weeks to arrive are trying to heartened. Because i guess you don't really need an excuse to dress up right which is actually what we're talking about on the show today. Welcome to desperate blues me. Show a very happy to have you here. Thanks for having me iron absolutely on it. Yeah we're talking about something. That's very exciting. Very whimsical and fun. Now it turns out that both sure. And i have a love for many different pop culture phantoms and close play as well. Fan culture of fandom has actually been around for centuries and describes really sort of community built around a shed enjoyment of anything from sports to cats celebrities. You name it. And 'cause play on the other hand is another subculture which hasn't been around for as long but it's sort of based around the idea of dressing up as a character movie. Tv show book or videogame. And i'm curious actually to find out what drew you to cause play I'd have to say is just the the the whimsical and quirkiness of it all. I always loved admission movies characters and stories. And honestly i didn't even really coleslaw was being until maybe like three or four years ago. I was just steamed. Why would people dress up. But i think what really is this excitement of getting to be character that you like and resonate with and putting our little twist on it and just getting to immerse yourself in that world and how fun closely invites you to be different and explore a side of yourself. That is sometimes uncomfortable because it can be nerve wracking because dressing up as somebody that doesn't exist can seem to serandon to some people but i see it as a fun escape right just for the fun of it. Just because you can and literally the sa- let your mind run free and be creative. It seems like it's it's quite a creative practice. Actually an artistic practice because a lot of people seem to kind of have their own take. Well liked admiral. Little quirks definitely for oil and as always a really big discussion in the play community. While is what is considered kohl's plan what isn't Should look identical to the character baio calls playing or is it is calls flaming about the fact that you putting your own unique twists on it. You know it's kind of like when does a coast place stop being cold. Play when you put too much of your twist on it all like when does it stop being a coldplay Dini to add more to it. But i think one of the most exciting things about having people especially from different cultural backgrounds getting into coastal as that just unnatural creativity. Basically out we put into his son at any way So maybe the character might have black hair and you can add an effort to it. If that's what you wanna do you want to have an effort. You want them to have braids. It could just be the same color. And i didn't think coldplay play isn't about doing it. Identical to the character. It's about taking that and be inspired and couldn't your personality to it. And i think that's exciting. I think that's cool. And that's what shows people's creativity in a different way. I love that. I love that and it's really interesting to see how that ends up playing into the brought up pop culture conversation like the idea of fans coming in with their ideas. Because i know this one guy he did like a spiderman reinterpretation and now of this vitamin costume. And now they're going to like introduce that caused into like the movie and it's like yes right now. It is cool. I think actually they have an exchange with creators. I mean obviously depending on the type of created that she all you'll fans are big pot of what you create because they're the ones that support you They're the ones that allow you to have the success that you have to have the widespread popularity and i think what causeway does is. It inspires creators. Say okay. all these are different kinds of people that are into my work and they can take inspiration from that. Who sort of build off that as well. Make it incorporated in the on an even see that a lot now within a popular tv shows. You get people have theories about the tv shows and then before you know that theories like proven right the is said. Oh yeah we heard offense talking. What about this. And we wanted to incorporate it because we wanna see them happy. Because you know it's kind of a journey that you're sharing with your with your fans as well there's definitely an exchange. That happened while. I never thought of it. Like that. and i think this relationship between creators and fans Is really actually quite key to this conversation that we're having and i wanna come back to that. What's been your favorite coast place that you've done so far definitely has to be my style vehicles. Play that i did i love. She's just that as alien sipa powerful super cool super hot. And i think playing how was i felt bad as like getting to win that one suit and like the knee highs sucks red. Hat's zone was definitely my favorite and it was the most like out there one that i had done as well. I felt like exposed. Yeah i loved the stuff you and it just gets me so excited because species seeing a deal in titan. Yes is just like so amazing because i mean teen titans. The cartoon character wasn't black. That's that's the interesting thing about it. Goes back to that station about what is true to the character. What isn't and even with the teens. Coldplay anadarko playing Stuff i was a big deal. Because you're saying sophism is not black but she's also not why she's an alien from a completely different planet. She can be whatever he wants to be like race in the exist in all societal constructs and i think it's really cool that seeing deal klay stop ion said to a lot of people like actually no style can be anything and black girls rock women sold at and said look at like stop is now cannon black like that's what she is she's a black woman now and we need of that like boecklin deserve to be represented in that way and is different diverse and interesting. It really was and it's so interesting to see like the backlash that she got or playing. And then you think about You know the fact that the producers of the show had to come forward and defend her and be like no we had a creative choice for costing this woman aside from her mazing talent and then some people who are not fans continued to kind of play. This idea like what you mentioned. Not candidates not cannon which seems to be a criticism that's mostly thrown at 'cause players of color and specifically Black female 'cause players. We hope you're enjoying this interview. We're gonna play a quick community announcement and.

"Right is to forsake everything. We need to ask talk visions of the biblical when long osweiler confused. Another great example from the old testament. If i can't really quickly before we move forward the prophet micha chapter six so the context in the book of mica for mike six. The lord begins that chapter by indicting. His people every guilty. They stand condemned before him. And then the profit goes on in verses six and following of my kasichs to write these things. He's kind of hypothetically speaking for the people here right with. What shall i come before the lord and bow myself before god on high and since the sarcasm here like lord. You're extreme what are you require. Shall i come before him with burnt offerings with cavs. A year old will the lord be pleased with thousands of rams with ten thousands of rivers of oil. Shall i give my firstborn for my transgression. The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul and then mica says he has told you old man what is good. And what does the lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness into walk humbly with your god now what people do with that passage john they they read that and they say see here it is. The lord is not satisfied with empty ritualistic religion. He is not interested in people sacrifices. What he is interested in is the true religion of doing justice loving kindness and walking humbly. Before and so now you need to be true religion in old time religion. Kind of person who is characterized by the doing of justice the loving kindness in the walking humbly. Before your god and the lord will be pleased with you again that's biblical right that the prophet there is not giving people a message of gospel. Either he's telling folks a better understanding of what the law requires actually. Is this heart level. Reality it's not external conformity to a written code but it's a heart level reality of doing justice and loving kindness and walking humbly. Before your god. Nobody's ever.

"That's on top of what Geico could already see view. So what are you waiting for? A visit Geico dot com to learn more like another drive that I thought was big in this game. After the Cowboys took the lead at the end of the first half, But the Rams really showed some guts when they came out, got the ball for the first time in the second half, they were able to get their offense restarted again. Put a drive together. Get down the field. Just a nice bounce back for them After looked like the Cowboys had taken away all the momentum with that late drive the end of the first half. Yeah, I mean, like I said, the opening drive, and then you come out from half time and Your first drive you draft on the field and scored another touchdown. Those air huge those air really some momentum gaining drives and to cap them both off with touchdowns going about at everything better. I think we all had some questions about the ramps. They came out when they flew around. Put pressure on deck press guy, But Michael Kaiser play well the defense had tonight They have 34 stuff punts. They turn the ball over twice on downs and just three points allowed in the second half. So really good job by that defense. "The word wait. Money is a weight useful good on the market that is used as a medium of exchange and of course just as the Bible recognizes gold and silver form the best source of money because they fit all the criteria of Mani as mentioned in the last episode and they have their own intrinsic value their own utility and so that was point number. Three God stabilized the money so one God created the money to God measured the money. Three gods stabilized the money and now for our big point number four. God punishes those who manipulate the money. Let's go Isaiah Chapter One and versus twenty two through twenty three here. The Prophet Isaiah is prophesying God's judgment upon the nation of Israel in that they would be led captive if they didn't repent of their evil deeds. Now what were some of their evil deeds there were quite a few evil deeds going on in Israel including idolatry. But here's one that God points out as an Evil Deed Isaiah chapter one right from the beginning verses. Twenty Two through twenty three. Thi- silver is become dross thy wine mixed with water thy princes are rebellious and Companions of thieves. Everyone loveth gifts and followeth after rewards. They judge not the fatherless neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them so notice that a curse upon the nation is that valuable commodities become diluted. Does wine naturally become mixed with water or is that an indication of poverty trying to stretch out the quantity by diluting the quality. That's what these people were doing and notice. Who are the thieves in this passage? The princes the government those in power those with connections to the means to rob the poor. So this happens by deluding money. Notice that verse. Twenty two says thy silver is become dross and so the silver became deluded with less valuable substances so this happens by diluting money so that goods and services become more expensive and to do goods and services become more expensive when the money gets deluded the poor. Of course those who are fatherless. Those who are widows as the passage mentioned those on retirement those who need care those who are on fixed incomes and those who have control of the money who are able to turn the silver into draws who are able to produce the wine and mix it with water. These are the ones these princes. They are rebellious and they are companions of thieves according to the Prophet Isaiah. So notice how Isaiah couples the idea of deluding money manipulating money with thieves. Amos chapter eight in verses four through six here. We have the Prophet Amos who was basically a farmer. Amos was kind of a country boy bought Amos nevertheless was still a powerful prophet in his message and delivering the word of the Lord Amo says in Amos eight versus four or six here this. Oh ye that swallow up the needy even to make the poor of the land to fail saying when will the new moon be gone that we may sell corn and the Sabbath that we may set forth wheat making the ethos small and the shackle great and falsifying the balances by deceit? That we may by the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of shoes yesterday and sell the refuse of the wheat. So what is ENA saying? He's saying that these rich princes these rich thieves who had a control and monopoly on the supply of money as well as some of these goods that the poor needed and they they wanted to sell things to the poor. They didn't like the idea of Sabbath. Days or New Moon festivals that the law ordained where people had to cease their commerce to focus on God and celebrate. God's goodness no these people just could not wait for the Sabbath and the festivals to be done so they could get back to commerce. Why because they manipulated commerce so that they could rob the poor and make off like bandits and notice what verse five said making the chief. Aw small the e fall was a measure of wheat. It was a certain of wheat so they would end up selling a little bit of wheat to the poor but notice how they made the shackle great. So how can you make the shackle great? If the shackle was a fixed weight of silver it would always be the same thing right. Well if you manipulate the money and you delude it like the silver became dross in the Isaiah passage and you would end up inflating the money supply making a lot more of these silver coins circulate but have deluded values of silver in there with dross in them yet the poor would only have access to a relatively few number of them and the princes would have a lot more because they manipulated the money than they could sell a little bit of wheat to the poor who are begging and then the poor having to work so hard to cough up that little bit of silver to them but that shackle is great to them. They had to work really hard to earn diluted money. Here's an example. If you recall the phrase let them eat cake? This comes from allegedly Ma- Marie Antoinette Queen marie-antoinette right before the French Revolution really kicked off Queen. The Queen had insensitivity to the plight of the poor who are suffering from food. Inflation and grain was becoming really scarce and because they couldn't get bread to feed their hunger. They were starting to storm the Bastille to take over and her reply and her grandiose living was let them eat cake like if they can't have brad if they can't get grain then just let them eat basically a more sweetened forma brad that came that had ingredients in there rather than the grain that they needed and so this was an insensitive remark and it really showed her misunderstanding of the problem and this was the effects of the French. All A- Garki manipulating the money supply to her the poor. Let's go to Mike in Chapter. Six Verses Ten through eleven quote and there are yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and the scant measure. That is abominable. Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances and with the bag of deceitful weights? So notice what. The Prophet Micha is complaining about it seems like all these prophets are complaining about the fact that these wicked rich people in power in government are hoarding the wealth there's treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked now. If you read the proverbs you'd see that there is praise for honest gain. God blessed King Solomon with riches. It wasn't wicked for Solomon to have riches as long as it was honest gain yet. If you acquire your wealth by dishonest gain such as these people were doing that. There are treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked treasures of wickedness. And the scant measure that the poor would have it's abominable. How did they attain these treasures of wickedness? According to Verse Eleven God is asking. Shall I count them? Pure or faultless with the wicked balances and with the bag of deceitful weights. And so these people were acquiring their wealth once again by robbing the poor through the trickery of false balances and so the poor were paying a lot more in their product to get a lot less from the wicked who were selling them and the poor. We're having to use manipulated money so this was not by honest exchange. It was by false balances manipulating the money. Let's go to Haggai Chapter One verses six through seven and this is great quote you have sown much and bring in little yea- eat but you have not enough ye drink but she are not filled with drink. Ye Clothe you but there is non warm and he that Ernest wages earn wages to put it into a bag with holes thus say at the Lord of hosts. Consider your ways now. God is pronouncing the curse upon the nation but God seems to observe that. The poor were suffering a plate caused by the rich so they sewed much but they brought in little they ate but barely they drank but not enough they could barely keep themselves warm and they would earn wages but it was like putting their wages in a bag full of holes. So let's think what would be the equivalent of earning money and having fall out of a bag as if it you know you'd lose your money. You lose that those earnings by having them fall out of holes from a bag. So what's.
