Recently, the Miami Herald's executive editor, Monica Richardson, who is the first black journalists to hold that position in the papers, 117 year history. Says she received a racist email. It was really brutal because of the language and the tone and and really the hatred that it portrayed and how this resonates with Different communities at different moments In that email, the sender expressed anger over the Miami Herald's coverage of recent Cuban American demonstrations, which shut down in Miami Highway. It noted that no one had been arrested despite a new anti riot law. In a message permeated with racist commentary, the sender referred to Richardson with a misogynistic slur. And use the phrase your people, Richardson wrote an open letter. In response in it, she writes, Like other moments of coming face to face with racism, it will sit with me for life. Martinez spoke with Richardson about why she felt compelled to respond. Now, these protests are there about something that we all care about their about fairness. And so that was not the question that I was trying to raise. It was really about people how they handle Being under pressure and that tension on issues of race and so this one was particularly as I said, the word I used. I like to think of was brutal. And so I decided to respond. Monica and you know, there's been a discussion last few years about how much of someone's humanity can go into their job when they are journalists. And it sounds like in this case your humanity came out when you read that email. It did. In fact, I wrote two versions of the column in the first version was very polite, and I came back to it and just wrote it strictly from the heart. Overwhelmingly the response that I got the positive response that I got was from the human community. So the it resonated not just with me as an African American woman, but it resonated with the Cuban community as

Interview with Crime Writer Clay Stafford: S. 7, Ep. 2 - burst 5
"If you've you haven't been to cure nashville you should. You should should good because it is a. It is a family supportive people. Not that other conferences aren't but that is what we're geared for that family support people and looking looking at my background. You've you may have looked into it. I'm appalachian kid. I grew up in the middle of nowhere with railroad tracks. And i knew those railroad tracks went somewhere but no idea where but i dreamed about going beyond that and there was absolutely no reason that i should ever have found myself in new york in los angeles in miami coming from the region that i came from the circumstances that i came from except for people helping me reaching down and saying you know this guy. He's really trying. You've got a absolute. You've got a little bit of talent. I'll help him out. I give him a chance to see if he can prove himself. And people have been so kind to me over the year years. And that is the impetus for creating cure nashville. So when everybody comes together the whole idea is leave your ego at the door because you are there to help other people what we do is if you come to cure nashville your gonna be a speaker there from law enforcement to guess honor to regular attendees you have to be willing to give your business card to everybody there to build that relationship so that people have a network in support to be able to go to the next level. Now if you've looked at who at how the schedule is laid out. We've got things for beginning writers people who go and i'm second really beginning. Writers people who go i have an idea but i'm not sure how to write a book. Starting there all the way through to people who are already new york times bestsellers who show up. Not because their guests of honors they show up as attendees because they want to take our marketing classes and our publicity sessions to be able to see. How do we go to that next level. How do we use the new technology. And so we've got this wide range of people who were there and when you have that mix of those newbies versus really really good veterans. You've got such a wealth of networking a wealth of opportunity of information. If you just take advantage of it in that one thing and we we. We go to the embassy suites hotel in cool springs which is right outside of historic franklin in about twenty fifteen. Twenty minutes from downtown broadway nashville. So you can get you know you can go down to the broadway and have on if you want to or you can go to the civil war harper river rafting. Whatever you'd like to do here in the historic side so that a lot of people come here with bringing their family and do a vacation but You bring all of those people together and then we have just you know sharing so it's with the covert to answer your question the covert. I think we're cool. This year really disrupted and broke my heart last year but for our area where we live. it's not the issue that it was but again encouraging people. If you have some sort of issue health issue whatever you feel more comfortable wearing a mask at the hotel in some of their situations requires maybe some people who wear a mask. If there's there's an thing but once you get into the rooms it's up to you So you know it's I think we're we're coming back to some degree of norm which i am so happy

Maybe the george floyd policing act like that. Yeah that's what. I would push through immediately so it would be something to do with money making sure everybody got some change in their pockets. Yeah and the only reason it's going to be tough for the chiefs to win because nfl teams. Don't repeat like that last team that repeated back to back was that god damn new england patriots led by the mother fucking go. You know what i mean like. it's different. You went to ten super bowls nine with one team one new team. The degree of difficulty is just different. I can't explain it. Like i'd much rather go out there and get posted up by fucking you know. Joel embiid the fucking get. Hit by aaron donald. Oh it's all. I can tell you without a doubt. I mean when you even think about the salary cap limitations in football right compared to basketball you you. It just puts a whole new level of respect on what tom brady is accomplished. Because think about it in football you are constantly managing that salary cap right and player that you develop on your team. That gets good enough you cannot afford. You cannot physically afford it. I wonder is the salary cap for basketball more than the salary cap for football. I've pretty sure it is. I'm almost positive. It is gonna be alright. How do you. How do you afford three max play on a team but think about that would be in football. You have fifty three players to pay in basketball. You have thirteen. Any of those fifty. Three players could end up being superstars. And you gotta let them fuck and go. It's amazing. They were able to do what he was able to do. In the sacrifices that he made he was the best player in football and he was taken pay cuts to keep the team together. You're not gonna find that. Let's see patrick mahomes. Who just signed that huge deal. Let's see if he wants to play for pennies on the dollar just to win a super bowl. Let's see how bad he wants to win. Yeah i would actually say that This is probably been bill checks. Worst football decision leading. Letting brady go bro. He tried to go before for jimmy. Garoppolo do you remember that. He tried to trade brady to san francisco. I'm pretty sure. And then he was gonna have jimmy garoppolo. Be the head of the fucking. Qb one for the patriots. It's mind boggling and then brady had to go to. Bob kraft to talk some fucking sense into bell check. And that's what's our relationship but it's unbelievable. "Cindy carbines husband had been murdered. Her son wounded and she had just killed. The man she believed was responsible. It wasn't an easy low to put in the rear view mirror but a few months after she killed Alon Nissim it was noah's second birthday and Cindy decided his happiness would come first so she organized a party pony rides within. Yada the cake Cindy remember had always been vicious purpose now that she was the family breadwinner in two thousand ten two years after the murder. She and a partner opened a clinic that specialized in managing pain located in nearby. Broward County just north of Miami. She hired this man to help. Get the business goint. His name is John frisky. I was selling her computers and helping her get set up pain management clinics were popping up all over south Florida just about them and some of them were suspected of being so called Pill Mills. Where unethical doctor's got rich writing prescriptions for narcotics like Oxycontin prior can think there was one hundred and some odd pain clinics which is more than McDonald's protective rob. We're was part of a DA task force set up to these pill mills and well cindy insisted. She ran her clinic by the books. It came to the attention of the DA task force. We had received complaints on it so we sent somebody in see what we can do and guess who the Task Force sent John. Frisky THE COMPUTER EXPERT. He also happened to be a DA informant. Every time I went in there I wore a wire from the when you wore the wire. What were you assigned to do? My main goal was to get anything that would piece it together and prove it was a pill mill. He talked to Cindy a lot fishing. Really for what might be evidence medical and then one day it was just over two years after Cindy shot. Nissim frisky gun a very big surprise many very uncomfortable and I just wanted to leave. What happened Frisky? I Cindy about her family. She launched into an amazing story about the shooting of Eelanatham. Was the story of how her husband was murdered. Nur Son wounded and how? She suspected her husband's business partner. Eland Nissim arranged it all and then. She said when she decided the police were never going to arrest him. How can I? And that's when a completely different story emerged about the day. She shot Nissim a far cry from the one she told the police didn't barge into her house uninvited. She said she lured him there. I knew off and shaken by Alan. You told Frisky. She asked him to take down some speakers in her bedroom. Then she went to the living room and got her gun. She didn't shoot him just once. She emptied her gun into him. Don't frisky simply wanted to find out if Cindy was operating a pill mill instead. It sounded like she had confessed to a much much more serious crime. I went in the restroom. I called rob where the DA agent. And I told to. She does confess the murder and she wants to go to launch that he said. Just get out of there. Make any excuse. You'RE NOT GONNA launch witter. Frisky gave the tape. We're I'm like nobody could just flat out confess like that. I just couldn't believe what I heard. Detective Weird contacted North Miami police and prosecutor Abby Rifkin who it turned out had her doubts all along about the story. Cindy told the cops the persona that she tries to portray of being this poor. Little widow is completely belied by that those tapes daughters little girl named Imani. You Ready Dave love. Her Everson was shot amount his mother Nikita Roberts. I've been hearing people say the man she loved was a killer. That couldn't see this person. Hurt anybody being this. Whoever they said he was. That's not a person that I knew prosecutors put their case together Miami Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez. Rundle had to sign off and she did so without hesitation. Revenge isn't tolerated anywhere in the system. Even if it's understandable and somebody might have some sympathy you push in that direction. Isn't there the ought to be able to kind of act out in your own defense. Sometimes we vengeance is just an excuse. But it's a lousy excuse to kill somebody. You cannot do it. You will be held accountable and the state of Florida did hold Cindy accountable. Just before Christmas. Two thousand ten. She was charged with first degree murder. Coming up there was a dead man. An apparent confession and a motive but under Florida law was a murder and it was that one time shot. Yes I did. I was in fear for my life in my mind. He was there to kill me. When did line continues.

"They were just going for a walk on the pleasant Miami. And when her husband was gunned down and killed her eighteen month. Old Son won't it? Cindy Carlisle didn't quite get it right away. That hers was a particular kind of nightmare. This was an execution. What does it do to your head when you think that somebody wanted him dead? I comprehend what was happening. I was just an pain but I lost my husband three days after the shooting. Cindy went before TV cameras at police headquarters waiting holding her son Noah. His injured arm wrapped in bandages. She appealed for help to find the killers information. Please come forward police and urged her to make the appeal hoping that all that emotion help generates much-needed leads though there was one lead both amazing and ultimately frustrating right there just below the roof. Line OF SIDI. Orlando's house was a security camera former North Miami major trevor. She we had video footage that we obtained from the victim's home. That's the camera that captured father and son heading out of the House and down the street on that last walk. They took together then. Watch this a car barrels. Up to the curb to men burst out guns drawn. Run around the corner out of camera range. That's where they opened fire on Orlando and Noah within fifteen seconds. They're back in the car speeding away but they're not done. He was on the ground. They come back by. And now you have a second rally of shots. There was an execution. Yes nobody could identify the two you can see on the video. Best witnesses could say was they were African American males with dreadlocks. One caller said she thought she saw third man in the car. Besides the two shootings found the car eventually abandoned. It had been stolen and the evidence trail cool dramatically as for what the motive was seemed to know. It was shocking because my husband was very much light he didn't have any known enemies. Was that true detectives at the North Miami Police Department throughout a wide net. And they got some help from Cindy. When you're working homicide you reach out to people close to the victim spouses or best friends business associates. You wouldn't get as much information. Other beefs are bad businesses. That's when Cindy thought about her husband's new business partner. Man named Ilan Nissim the guy he got involved within real estate development when the police Questioned me and they said war his friends from partners that he had any incident bass when I said well you know there was an incident with this business. Venture should be Maryland Nissim and his girlfriend Makita at a birthday party for their daughter. Who was Noah's age? Then Cindy Landau told her later not long before he was murdered that he lon lost a big packet of cash Orlando entrusted. It with my husband gave me some money to purchase lots to get in the business. A lot of money mine knowledge was one hundred and eighty thousand dollars and there was a robbery and the money was gone. One hundred eighty thousand lost in cash. That's the sort of thing makes it cops it up and take notice tell me about the links between niece and Orlando. What were they doing together? Some small real estate from what we understand. But we're all these sound like businesses on the up. Yes Cindy began to suspect. That Nissim must've had a reason to want her husband dead bus as for what he may have done. I don't think she could say she just kept saying that he had to be involved and there was an issue over money. It was just like her gut feeling this guy was involved and then the twentieth of May one month to the day after the murder the investigation had stalled. Cindy was at home alone packing to move out of the house she shared with Orlando. What happened. Sometimes it can take a while to figure out who did what who coming up enough a shot and mystery move and I panicked because I thought he was reaching for his gun. When Dateline Continues Jack? "Chris what was your guests said true. I'M GONNA say all right so this is like a tiebreaker. Between Royan I. Hey Yo yeah like in I mean from my research. It's cool off off expert now. The number but my point is like a much more than the support you I. I'm with you on that. My only point point of contention was four times. That's it but I'm not getting up on that. I've learned the four hundred ninety five people watch that show. Was that the last question I I have one last one. Jeez gotTa hang on my lead. Here we go. What's the score the point where? I don't think that's true most Indians think that diehard what is the top movie true has to be true. That's true diehard original dia question everybody thinks whatever Mike Says Patrick has got it Roy. So Grad right rarity set you Roy said true. Well then I'm just going to protect. This is another one harsh. I don't WanNA WANNA be that guy but most Indians you don't know a baby's going false. Actually I was being like I. I was kidding so I it's true that horse it came out shit forgot what show he was on. I was GonNa Harsh I really like you. You're great and if you WANNA come by with a quiz every time you say you want you want to buy with that to wait. Did you WanNa talk about something else or just quiz us know what had awesome all right. Good thank you so much thank you you too bye bye. I wanted to talk a little bit about Inner Miami. That was fun. It was really fun. I really enjoy the call so far today today. Inter Miami dropped their kits last night and real or the same day last time there was league so the League versions of the Inter. Miami Amy Kit at least for the away kit. This is proven to be true. All black very plain no sponsor on it Most people are disappointed. With how how the the kit looks. Billy did you see the renderings and yet it now very disappointing. So far now the real question is is the League for the home home. Kit could it be true. Are they going to abandon the White Jersey that was universally panned on twitter. The fans one hand. I wish we would have talked about this before so we could ask ask Samson about that because I wonder I wonder about the leaking of the marlins uniforms when they leaked those. Yeah we'll ask him next next week. Let's make sure Because that's that was an interesting moment for the Miami Marlins but excuse me I I want to say that things are fine all right I just this is this is it looks so dated a this is not an inter- Miami thing this is this stems. From Melissa's this is partnership with Adidas. Where Adidas doesn't really have to get creative and most teams have the SA- the same set template? I really hope though that they learn from the feedback and don't go white tops for the home. We need something to distinguish they can make it could be a slam dunk if we just have pink tops. Yeah but I wanted to talk a little bit all the home all the home kits white. MLS No home. Kits are whatever sill like. It's different in soccer Your Home Kit. You wear on the road. Most often often like Chelsea's home. Kit Is all blue right. Yeah and you often see them playing on the road on the run into another team that plays at home with traditionally blue colors. Then they'll go to one of their right or away kit or alternate. Yeah so the home look will be warned. I want to estimate like seventy five percent of the time but I actually WanNa talk about Inter Inter Miami. The club because Alexi Lalas actually had some comments that made sense were honest and there were kind of critical because in Miami. If you follow the history of this entire franchise so far. It's been awfully delayed. They're not even playing in Miami Planning Law Cart. They're always linked to these big names But they haven't really signed anybody. Noise substance it just seems like a a true Miami industry so far and it's not even in Miami. I don't think they've done a single thing to get anyone. That is not a die hard soccer fan. I don't think there were a month away from the season season. We're not even a month away from the season and I don't really feel like outside a passionate soccer fans. There is a single bit of buzz around the Siem. I actually want to ask. Ask Billy because this town is desperate for winter they want to gravitate towards something exciting. There is nothing before he gets wasn't wasn't their thing is that there's a market here four soccer so there are establish docker fans here that we're trying to tap into their is Miami and I think the Fort Lauderdale thing is a big deal right so like when I bought season tickets it's like the easiest sale this rep ever made because I love soccer. I'M GONNA be there regardless I've been wanting professional soccer in south Florida forever. I'll drive at my ass up to Fort Lauderdale. I'll buy tickets. That haven't even been built yet. You don't even need December the renderings. Here's my credit card. Take my money and I think there's plenty of people like that. But who are they getting eh just sort of casual they got to compete with other teams for your dollars. They have ticket packages. So what are they doing. I mean they did get Greg Cody but he lives in the also loves soccer. That's true but I would still call him at this point like not a guy that's like I need to get season tickets to something and he wanted it. I'm curious Roy Billy. You're not big soccer guys. Are you going to watch the first game. Is this something that's at all of interest to you. Know I didn't even other starting in a month. I would say that they're doing fine if they get people like you to go L. because they'd be wasting their time trying to go after me Oh watch it on TV. I would. I would definitely go if I was credential. I'd go for free. Maybe if I got free tickets but I'm not gonNA like buy season tickets to a team that that's a bummer. That that's a real bummer. And I feel like they had such an opportunity down here when it was first announced there was almost more plenty of people. Well I mean. Don't be sad because I don't care about it like they'll get plenty. There's plenty of soccer fans down here. I just wish because like I don't even think they're necessarily competing with other teams for for the money on stuff and for fans like their soccer fans that don't care about basketball or baseball football. That will go to these games. Regardless was hoping that this would be something that would sort of transcend whether or not like it would be something that you would at least watch on television for the first. How are the sales? Could they be doing really well like. Are we going to small stadium. So are we going to show up that first first game and it's going to be like Oh all right this fan they got a good amount of people first game I e judge it right. Yeah I know that they look they have some really like fantastic ASPIC support clubs already. That have been practicing their chants and songs and even showed up to the MLS all star game and causes seen. I think once you see it on television especially that home home atmosphere that's going to resonate and people are going to see that and be like oh I wanna be a part of that. That seems like a fun experience. But they don't have like a name on in their team. That would be like okay. This is interesting. Like let's say for example. They signed. Louis Suarez maybe billy would be like. Oh that's a guy that bit somebody in the World Cup. It's all about they. I'm just saying like you need to just accept that there's people that don't like everybody doesn't like the same things like there's world class opera houses here in museums and stuff like that that I've never seen one of you guys have ever been to the Opera House just I. This is a city with a lot of things to do when people like different things. I'm someone that's fine you're comparing. I'm sorry you're comparing soccer. Like like the arts and soccer mom still sport and you do like sports like if there was a major league Lacrosse team that was playing at. Fau that either. Yeah I wouldn't support it. There's a soccer team that plays at Fau. And I went to one game. It was actually really fun to see. Yeah but you went to a game I. I'm just differ. How many years? They had plenty of games there. I went to one game and I hope you don't meet minutes away. This is not a reflection on you at all. I actually think that I don't care if you know not upset you. I think you actually represent like the casual South Florida Sports Fan and I think Miami is really biff. Did so far with this launch. What could they be doing doing though outside of just getting players? Obviously they did a good job. I mean they built up all this hype with nothing. They didn't have a team. They don't have a stadium they didn't have players and they had all these people excited headed for years. I'm I'm one of those guys that has the whole time been saying to you like I'm excited about this. I'm going to get tickets but I'm not gonNA feel really invested until I hear like somebody they give me a name. Give me your name. I think they're doing a good job like building soccer roster if you pay attention to mls or read up on some of these South American players that they have brought over mcdonagh the GM does a really good job in building teams. Has He Atlanta United Success under his belt. Yeah I do think that there is like even without without like the Cavani or huge name associated that you've always heard them linked to. There is a case to be made that this team might actually be good. Yeah but I want to share this with people. I run into soccer fans all the time. I think the same people that I'm going to be seeing that this game of the same people that are going to the pub at seven am. I was just hoping that this would be something at launch. Yeah that would be bigger. That would at least get some curiosity. I don't think that they've done enough. The logo launches really like the only thing that has gone well is David Silva was the Davits Avid Silva has been a name. They've been linked to a millionaire. It'd been linked to Pedro. They've been linked to Cavani Let's not even for sure either. That's another speculation. It's all speculation. They have one more DP. He's got their food is Maury from Monterey. WHO's an Argentinian player? But plays in the Mexican league. Who's one of the better players Max? None or no.

"You're back with Monica on design. I'm Nolan Giles. We're spending some time design Miami this week and among the networking hustle and bustle. There's of course theme to the person in charge of delivering. It is Eric Chen design. Miami's curatorial director. This year's focus is water and Eric took me for a deep dive through some of the events design highlights. We took the theme of water as a topic explorer. And the different ways this edition so when you walk in what you'll see is a giant projection of a camera that's been submerged Biscayne Bay in Miami. It's it's a really a fascinating fascinating project by coral more logic in art science do based here what they've done is they've explored this phenomenon of Pearl reach thriving in Biscayne as we all know corollas. Crowly start dying and heavily threatened all over the world but for some reason the ones right in Miami like in the midst of this urban environment are doing quite well. So scientists are studying studying this. They placed a camera next to one of the reasons and we are getting a streaming video of what's happening in this amazing ecosystem that we never see but it's right beneath our noses so we made our way through the crowd you can stop by basically every single person that's worth speaking to along the way and and now we've arrived at lonely. Well can you tell us a little bit about this. Insulation selection here yes. We wanted to really prompt people to look at water from all sorts of different angles whether it's water scarcity ocean plastics rising sea levels etc and lonely whale with point break foundation and via mail. An AD agency came up with the project where they created sculptures with a collaboration with artists assembling found plastic that is washing up on beaches all over the world. And what's really striking about the results are. They've assembled them entity sculptures as you really see. It's not just plastic bottles. You know it's you have dolls toys and like entire like electronic appliances washing up and for me that's What's so powerful about? This should be head over to Routes routes what. Can you tell us about this here. This is a installation by the Brazilian. Is Marco Broddrick which who was in the Amazon. This summer during the fires were raging and continue to rage actually and he was thinking about the interconnectedness of nature and and and are unbalanced relationship with the environment and so inspired by the roots of the Mangrove along the Amazon he created this installation for people to come together inspired as well l. by the traditional dwellings of the digits in the Amazon to really bring more reflective contemplative space into the middle of all this hubbub through the process for you personally. Obviously you're working with these design as you're having conversations with them but I imagine you're learning a lot as well. Can you take us through. I guess some of your learnings in in this process for me I think is a little bit about refining. The Way One looks at sustainability right. Because it's a very complex issue complex economically politically technically leave practically in all sorts of ways but also culturally and I think that's one as a fair. We're not going to solve the environmental crisis. But I think what we can do is to find a rolling which we help continue to change the way people think about our relationship with the planet and a design fair I would argue is a really good place to be continuing attenuate to push this conversation Eric. Chen discussing some of the big ideas behind. This year's design Miami Noble as the big ideas at design Miami No one deny that this is also a place defined by doing business. One of the companies combining design and its relationship shipped to branding. Identity is champagne producer. Peres yet I sat down with their creative director. Axel von I began by asking how her company Anthony goes about finding the correct designer to collaborate with on a visual installation. That's here were invited. Andrew Mancuso from analogy approach contracts to exhibit piece called metamorphoses which is about the transformation of nature to beauty and basically. That's the story of the Champagne. I mean we're transforming the grape into something that I hope brings happiness and joy to everybody Andhra translated this into a city. You've six classes. Each class reflecting the specific tasting note of a specific cuvee and then he created around rounded that amazing encounter between the vineyards and the seller. Then ever meet they need and the bottle. So he recreated Dede's a seller and while the collies of the and fall that's made of eleven thousand tiles beautifully handmaid's and Italy. Can you tell us a little bit about the process of finding the right design to do these sort of installations. And how'd you do it. Well well I think it's been years of traveling. The will to meet with amazing design news. I think we're in a good place today. creationist there. It's everywhere we select them out of four criterias the four pillars of our new. I mean the story of the has goes back to nineteen to when immune galley design the actual we'll belly pork barrel all about adding beauty to everyday life was all about being inspired by nature in its processes with all about crafted. I mean going back to what does handmade and I was a bad no boundaries in between discipline. So what we do is we always look at designers that do have those four dimensions and their work. I mean even though they don't consider themselves our new designers still I think it's echoes what they doing. And obviously when you look at undress mark it was pretty obvious that he had had all this and So when we choose them we discuss it. Extensively were excellent counting gum from design Miami and the Cooper High wits Manuel. Ut Who's French art historian and obviously you judy. She gives us the right angle and when we all agree three on designer and it's you know it's not that many people as the four of US discussing it. We invite the designer the house I think the hasn't it found a as the place for proof for me as where are hired to collection sits two hundred pieces of heritage on new biggest collection in Europe in private hands and at the same time. It's where our champagne is made. So it's the place where designers get to meet with US sell master and had that conversation about the the winemaking and it's where nature gives us what we wouldn't be able to champagne with that you know if she don't have the grapevine spend the right grape at the right moment snow champagne. There's no celebration. There's no barriers. Let's they are less and less Boundaries and between disciplines and once again again I mean you know coming from an annual background. That's exactly the the setting of the philosophy. They wanted to convey a new at the beginning of all the biggest movements of the twentieth century. Chill is inspired by our new Barra's was inspired by on Nouveau. And it's really bad no boundaries in between disciplines night love hearing that you've got the feeling there are less and less boundaries because a AH ghost the right direction why put thanks into little boxes and tag them. I think it's just about bringing culture and I'm beauty to the world and the world needs seriously. Amazing is there anything else. You'd like to add while Champagne axelle sale debutante of the. We're nearly at the end of a visit to design Miami. It's one thousand nine hundred eighteen but before we go I caught up with one of those visual oddest you just heard about who likes to blur the lines. Between Design and art his name is Daniel Asham in the past his collaborated with mavericks such as photographer for Eddie Slimane. And as one half of the dynamic design GIO snark texture I caught up with Daniel design. Miami where he was exhibiting the new range of furniture with Gallery Friedman Benda his Daniel with more yes so about a year ago. I purchased this nineteen. sixty-nine Norman Norman Jaffe home and Jaffe was a credible architect kind of mid century But died quite young and his work is kind of starting to come back into a favor now and I found this incredible property that I did a complete restoration and in the house. I made all this furniture that was originally designed for me in the family and Mark Bender from the Gallery here saw it and he was like maybe we should do something with this furniture. So you know. I'm not a furniture designer visual artist and I made eight all this stuff very practical functional furniture so I keep telling people in here you know. They're kind of afraid to touch it because the rest of my work. You shouldn't touch but I keep telling them like sit on run into chair.

"And without Goren Dragon. The other Milwaukee in Toronto think they're cruising and you know what to a large degree they are but guess what. The Miami Heat rolled into town and they're here to do up. This is too much energy for this is too much homer talk for this hour and we haven't done it all year. Just yeah. That's that he just said needs to be repeated. The top hymie heater here. That's the one actually. Okay now thinking about it. You don't even need the heat have Handed the only loss at the top of the Conference two home teams at the top of the conference. The top five five teams combined are forty three two at home to start the season in those two wells are at the hands of the heat. One of Jimmy Butler didn't play at Milwaukee but I think the more impressive thing is that Miami. It's winning is home games by an average of eighteen points a game. Nobody is doing that why that is then why. Because the Miami Heat don't have to play themselves when they're holding court because if the Miami Heat had to play the Miami Heat at home home the Miami Heat would probably beat them because that's what they do miss it our second best player last night now. Tonight's going to be tough schedule. One of those schedule The the Miami Heat. Don't lose very many games. But if they do generally on the back end of a road back to back and they're playing another team. I believe another team. That's undefeated at home. Chris Cody Celtics. Tonight is statement game. You went tonight or Jackson Backhoe East back to battery Celtics Raptors. Mike threatening to be the worst if they win and not already ready the worst man snorting heat culture all of last night and Amino has it is more of a heat homer than my get. Yeah I can't believe leave me. No Hacen loves the Miami Heat Culture Stuff somehow more than Mike Ryan loves it. How is that possible? It's true hard because it's a fact. Act I know. Aren't people one of the experiments called upon Harry Potter fans in Elementary School. While the other two were cross sectional studies of High School in college students. who were Harry Potter fans? All right you with all of them prove the researchers hypotheses that extended contact through reading the popular bestselling books of Harry Potter. Improve attitudes towards stigma stigmatized what ties groups like immigrants homosexuals refugees. Also being able to see Harry's world and the problems and issues he and his friends face allows readers to draw parallels parallels to the real world. Her mine is dubbed a filthy mud. Blood Ron is extremely poor. Harry lost his parents and lives with his reactionary prejudice this narrow minded ignorant and bigoted extended family in these are several hardships but through friendships and continue belief in doing the right thing. They all prevail despite the fact they were raised and they grow up in these. He's challenged lives in effect. Readers find themselves becoming more empathetic towards others as well as more accepting of those who are different than them and those are your Harry Potter fans. Not Not that they were automatically assumed to be like that before Harry Potter. They're saying in reading all the Harry Potter stories. You become more accepting and a better person. That's nice could it. It just be. The people who read a lot in general might be more accepting and better because they have open minds and they wanna read could be but can you want go. You know what. Maybe that's true. Maybe it's or are you everything. I say. Studies all the time in their flawed. It's flawed research Australia sample Harry Potter in the whatever the heck the thing was something I like it was fine. I'm just saying like they put these things out. I want to know where that came from sample size. Can you can suspend your negativity for a moment and consider. Maybe it's true I see it. Can you know what when I when I was dating a guy for a while. who was a huge Harry Potter Fan? And he would say hey. There's this pass in the book. I'm going to read to you. Because we were trying to get over a friendship that was screwing us over. Whatever he read a Harry Potter passage? I'm like what is this going to do to help. It really was great to read a passage that was written by whatever name is. JK rollings and it did. It did help me work through an issue I had had in real life. I do see how some of those flawed or challenge relationships and challenge people's lives in the Harry Potter books. And how they prevailed. Is those the great stories about is not a great store. You could argue that. The Bible is the same way you know. There are lessons to be learned. It make you a better person if you really read between the lines. Yeah that's what that's exactly what I'm saying. Any book is going to give you a more open. Mind that you didn't have before you took an all of that knowledge like just yes. Yeah I accepted. Vampires and fifty shades of grey. Things like this I disagree my sister-in-law loves Harry Potter. And she's a pitch all right. Well there are a few that fall through the cracks. There's another I work with an evil backstabbing to face to bitch. And she loves Harry Potter. Screw you you know what you do the show okay so last night here in Miami Gandhi and Danielle and scary and brody went Out To dinner we. We had a late night at Norwegian encore. We're going to talk about encore coming up. You guys went he went to Taco bar in Hollywood beach. Yes and talk go bell Taco bar in Hollywood beaches pretty famous place festive the atmosphere. There is incredible. There's service goals everywhere. There's all these light. It was the best atmosphere. I'd love to have lights breath. So you walk in you sit down. And it starts to go downhill which you know. Even the best restaurants in the world have bad nights and obviously Taco bar was having a off night right so we sit down. We order appetizers and the appetizers came. We ate them. We actually got a second round of appetizers because we were still hungry. Angry does then. We sat there after the second round of appetizers for about forty five minutes to an hour waiting only on tacos. So finally it's late. We WanNa go to sleep. Yeah we're like you know what forget it. We're just going to get our food to go and go home Daniels. Like I'm not even hungry. Now forget it so we asked. Can we get the food to go. The Guy I said. Okay sure another guy comes out with the food on plates and said sorry. You guys have to box this up yourselves. It was already on the plate. Hands US boxes to box. It up ourselves okay. Okay so so far you can see how okay this is not good but we'll deal with. Okay let's deal with it then then we said you know what let's get out of here and Brody says is. I don't know if you guys weren't with me. I probably would've said something because this is a little bit ridiculous and I was like. Oh say something. Brody always goes to management never let anyone get away with anything were. I'm going to get the manager right now. If you guys don't disagree with me and you know what in sometimes it can be like. Let's just pay the bill and go but as this night was getting dumber and dumber dumber and it wasn't about the money anymore. It's just about these people. Yes because from that point so Danielle said I'm just tired. I WANNA go scary hiding under the table. I don't want to have anything to do with this. Let's go so brody gets up and goes and gets the manager and from that point it just got extra stupid so first of all he comes over and the manager was basically like well. The reason you waited is because the kitchen was backed up like well okay. There's no one here it's just us there. Were maybe two or three tables also if you know. The kitchen is backed up as a manager. Why wouldn't you come tell us you guys are going to be waiting awhile prepare yourselves? Yeah so he said okay fine then instead of trying to make anything right right he asks brody. Do you WanNa take a shot with me. Let's go take a shot. No that's not the answer either. Then they give us the bill they were gonNA take something off. They didn't take it off and he said sorry can't do anything. We ran the credit card. And there's just nothing we can do to fix it at which point. I started to get really irritated. Because I'm like of course you can fix it. He said there's going to be a hold on your charge card and then we'll have to recharge it and you know and so brought he's like yeah but that's the charge will drop the one that doesn't go through drops how the tell you. And he's refund money. We understand how critical out let me go check again. And they went back to the kitchen and back and forth for a long time after after a long collagen eternity after a long couple of days. We've been working our asses off up all right so at this point. It's not about the money you want back. Brody is about these people. Are these these people they are just being just honoring and I love that word wondering well. Let's not say it's not about the money because folks it's always about the money. Danielle had already put a credit card to pay for the bill so scares let's just leave. I don't care well. It wasn't his money so he really didn't care so I the Ghandi's point because we voted voted. It was two votes to talk to the manager to vote against scaring. Daniel wanted nothing to do with it. My problem was first of all. They want us to pack the food up ourselves. Hello but then once they bring the boxes he he doesn't drop the check. He knows we're in hurry. I go over to the kitchen entrance and call him out of the kitchen. Get the check which doesn't say once I'm up that's it. We're going to nothing nothing. Nothing was firing wiring properly so his right to move forward so brady look. Here's what brody does which is genius. He looks at him and says..
