Spring Training 2021: MLB's Plan To Prevent Outbreaks
"Jeff. What's the plan around health and safety to get to something resembling normal in spring training. I mean there's a hundred page document that lays out an extremely granular fashion. What baseball is trying to do to prevent outbreaks and you remember pablo. We talked about last year. We saw with the miami marlins with saint louis. Cardinals teams are susceptible to that. I will say a very positive thing. That happened already is major league. Baseball's first round of intake testing where they had four thousand three hundred thirty six tests. They didn't give the number of tests subjects but among those tests only thirteen came back positive. It's a very very small number. If there is an outbreak pablo it would not surprise me at all considering the way that people at spring training or around one. Another so much but They are abiding by distancing protocols. They're limiting the number of players. Nobody's allowed to go out. And the hope is that over time as players get vaccinated that will change but for the time being. It's very similar to the way that they operated toward the end of last season.

"Your mom was one of the pioneers in chicago when it came to sports broadcasting and happened to be woman and i think for people like your mom. I think you see the world changing. Were far more respectful and aware that it can't be a boy's game anymore. It's time to let the best people in the room. And if they happen to be a woman so be it. But i think the great thing jason. She checks a lot boxes. She's an asian woman who didn't play in the big league. That was such a stigma. Twenty years ago. Oh you didn't play in the big lake. My gosh i heard it well now. I think young women wake up and they say there's somebody looks like me in that role and until today really until friday. No one ever saw anyone looking like them in that role. And it's fifty. One percent of the world's population now suddenly is asian american woman years. The general manager of the miami. Marlins i think that alone or give hope to not just young women. Asian american men. Suddenly we say wait a second. Here's somebody looks like me. I can be that person. And i think for that. Our society is better off today. I have said that for so many years that all it takes is one seeing one person that looks like you in an industry to say. Oh my gosh that's it. I'm going to do this. Okay i want to do this. And that's what it took for me indian. You're so right. The number of people that she is going to affect the in the future generations. This is personal for a lot of us. And i'm still getting emotional right now because it is that big of a deal. Can she handle it mean. Just that's a lot of pressure on one person's shoulders and we don't mean to make it a bigger mountain than it is but truly when they are in the decision making and the hiring and the firing that is when we have progress because they make decisions on who gets some of those jobs. Great clink peggy. I think first of all yes. Undeniably qualified has been qualified for probably about fifteen years I remember sitting in our pool in los angeles with our feet in the water and she had just been denied one of those opportunities and i said listen. Marlins Name Kim Ng MLB's First Female General Manager
"Huge story today from the world of Sports. The first we have a first Ah Qiming. Who has worked in baseball. Dating back to 1990. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox. And then she was an assistant general manager with the New York Yankees, And she was insistent general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and she's been interviewing and interviewing, interviewing, and today she became the first general manager. Was a female. Who is also Asian. All of it in Major league baseball history. She's gonna be kind of work for the Miami Marlins. Now I was thinking like Did I probably not gonna be able to get Kim on the air tonight because, you know You might be a little bit busy, but you know, the Chicago Cubs have a Rachel holding. And Rachel was a stud softball player, and she has been with the Cubs now. Ah! As a hitting structure in the minor leagues, and she does a lot of technical stuff. And so I reached out and she was happy to come on. She's tweeting about the happy she was for Cam and she joins us now, Rachel, I know this was an absolutely huge day for you for for Kim for the industry as a whole. Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, I know Kim personally, So you know, no one is more deserving of this job, and all you have to do is look at her resume toe understand that she's Probably overqualified in in a lot of ways, just really, really happy for her proud of the Marlins. Just pretty exciting stuff. Were you expecting this to happen? Once you heard that she was interviewed like this has got to be the one I didn't know she was interviewing. I actually, um maybe I just didn't follow it too closely, But I know her journey has put her in an assistant GM position. A few times, So I figure any time there's a GM opening. She should be considered for it So, but I didn't know she was interviewing personally, But so it was, like a total surprise for me, and I kind of dig it. Yeah, For sure. Like just for those who don't know Kim's career path. Just Ah. Thumbnail shot of it. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox that started back in 1990. Then she became an assistant general manager for the Yankees and 98 left New York to go to the Dodgers in 2001, as in the same position. Then she interviewed to be the GM for the first time in 2005. Ned Colletti got that gig. And now it's been 15 years trying to become a GM. And here she is, What do you aspire to in the game, right? So you got a sweet position right now. But if you know, 10 years out, if you could pick something, any idea what it would be You know, I get this question a lot. I think with the way that the baseball season has gone first, I'd like to get a full year of baseball under my belt. No without a pandemic or anything else kind of derailing that, but You know, my my passion has always just been being in the cage and influencing players. And so you know, both of those things I'm very, you know, fortunate to have the position that I have right now because it allows me to both of those things. As for where I go from here, I mean, as long as I'm not sitting behind a desk and I get to be interacted with the players and put a uniform on and be in the cage. I think that's zef innately where I wanna be.

Miami Marlins: Derek Jeter, Kim Ng make baseball history
"I want to start with What I mentioned in the update, and that is the hiring of Qiming as the new GM off the Miami Marlins. And just off the top before we get to the historical nature of this and what it means for North American professional sports, moving forward. Just it is interesting to me. You know? Inevitably, the Rockies and the Marlins will be linked. Both coming into the league together. Iraqis and Marlins or not rivals by any stretch of the imagination. It's certainly if you are Iraqis Fan and the Marlins do something good. And the Rockies. Don't You inevitably draw that line between each other. And for the longest time, even though the Miami the now Miami Marlins used to be Florida Marlins have been more successful or tasted Oldham. Its success more than the Iraqis have. For the most part, the Marlins have been one of the worst run organizations. In all of baseball. We all remember Jeffrey Loria. Would buy a championship. Did buy a championship. 97 When Edgar Renteria got that hit off of Jose Mesa and the world Syriza's Sold everybody off. Because the wage bill would have been too high. But through that, by selling off all those players, he ended up getting a lot of really talented young players. Josh Beckett, Juan Pierre Carl Pavano. And they We're able to go win a championship, and then they were all sold off. Couple of ownership changes later, a monstrosity of a stadium poor attendance. Fire sales seemingly every other year incomes Derek Jeter and we thought that it was going to be more of the same. How in the world Is Derek Jeter. Going to Be the And he's not He runs the Marlins that he has a money man behind him. That helped him get the deal done as much money is Derek Jeter has made throughout his career. He can't outright by a major league baseball team himself, so he has kind of a What Silent partner that kind of front him the money, But he's the face. He's the guy that is making all the decisions. And it's something that We really haven't seen too much. And North American pro sports. We've seen plenty become G m's even presidents. And I guess that might be Derek Jeter's technical title, but two Be The owner. Of a team like the true owner, not nine. Justin Timberlake buying Air Peyton Manning's wife, buying shares of the Memphis Grizzlies. Like it's his team. And then they promptly had a fire sale. After he took over. We thought, okay, same old Marlins. Quietly. They have become one of the more Progressive Four thinking which I guess are It basically means the same thing. Progressive four thinking. Competent. Organizations in baseball.

Miami Marlins, Jeter Part With Exec Michael Hill After 19 Seasons
"So I don't know what the hell the marlins did over the weekend because they seem to have their first good since what two, thousand three and we were all wondering what Michael Hill was doing still with that job early on in that regime, and now they finally have a good season and they don't bring him back now he's not technically fired his contract expired. They're not renewing it for people who don't know. Michael. Is the GM for the Miami Marlins and what are you guys billy what do we make of this? Like what is doing here where we finally have a good season and then we get rid of Michael. Hill I mean I think before the season no one would have been surprised if Michael, Hill, wasn't there at the end of the season his contract was expiring. You wasn't part of this regime. person they inherited kept. So they you know made them an offer they couldn't come to an agreement and that's it. Now, they'll bring in their own person and that'll be that they did actually make an offer that well. Let me give you some clarification on this because David. Samson. Actually talked to Mike Ryan during during the segment that they do that is always informative and he if you were listening to that actually. What happened is exactly what he said was going to happen which is the Marlins were going to make him You know I'm using this term figurative figuratively, but also literally a token offer because he's one of two black executives in the league with that kind of power it's one of the reasons that he was still there even as they gutted the entire franchise because it wouldn't have looked good and quietly during twenty twenty after a playoff season. They needed to look like he turned down the job. So David Sampson said it was an embarrassing. He predicted an embarrassingly low offer that Michael Hill couldn't accept and that would he would have to walk away from and so what they said in the press release is mutual parting of ways.
NFL will begin testing for COVID-19 on game days, still not considering playoff bubble
"Their covert 19 testing protocols as we all make our way through the pandemic our first time through the lineup, so to speak. We learn as we go. We make adjustments as necessary. Sports leagues continued to do. This Major league baseball first round its regular season with teams playing in their home stadiums, but then decided to move the playoffs. Interest included bubbles and they'll be dealt with an outbreak on the Miami Marlins and cases on other teams and rules became more strict Justus they have in the NFL has more games get postponed because of cases of covered 19. This week, the NFL made more adjustments to its covert 19 protocols. The greatest change, perhaps The NFL will begin to test players, coaches and some staff members on game days, which it hadn't done to this point. But rapid tests will get conducted at team hotels and more bio reference testing. Staff will travel with teams Jared Max Fox

All right I dove into bed because they couldn't get back to my room and the door was oh. I knew the door was unlocked. And so I'm in bed with the covers up neck and she walks in okay and do us. To bruning. I'll tell you what. Stevie got us a lot of a lot of breath on paying the rent. We've got a lot of room after that I'm paying the rent but I saw on social media today to assist meant to be a Cova joke. Gross me out. It was like this is how rednecks. Handle covid so two guys, and they're both in their. They're both hammered passed out on an old mattress. And they're they're just down to their not boxers this down of their briefs. And One guy is using the other guys briefs the back of them as a mask. All know could get his head. Oh no and his nose, inhaling the back of the underwears. Oh my God, it's just disgusting I didn't even know why I brought that up. Gross Story I. Apologize, So let's story. That's a little more topical and less gross. Although those who have been saying baseball shouldn't be trying to do. This might suggest it's gross. How about the Miami? Marlins were less than a week into baseball comeback back. And the Miami Marlins have as many as fourteen people around the team with the team who reportedly tested positive and as a result we've had two major league baseball games that have had to be postponed as the marlins deal with this as their future opponents deal with this and I. Guess, it's let's see here for fourteen and four players got positive test results during the team's trip to Philadelphia so games in Philadelphia. Yankees are supposed to play the phillies now that next game is going to be postponed I'm not sure how many are going to be postponed in all. It started. It has started very badly for Major League baseball in terms of trying to keep a coveted bay. Here's the thing Steve Okay. Here's the thing if you had to when when covert hit. Okay and took everyone by storm and it was frightening. Justifiably right it was. This thing what are we up against pandemic US being thrown around? It's going GONNA. It's going to kill. People which it has, you know it's going to affect our elderly. The most vulnerable sick people smokers like myself if you're over fifty. So the the main thing Steve Out of all of that where people. And this is where leaders can really rise to the occasion in times of strife. And, the big thing that came out of it Steve was you. Can't you gotTA Social Distance Right? If you had to pick one thing, Stephen, they said what are you? What are you supposed to do to prevent getting the virus Kovin everyone would say social distance and the next one would be wearing masks. Okay, yeah, let's be the two things now. There's probably a long list of. Of other things that you shouldn't be doing okay, but they're secondary to these two main things. Okay, so number one is social distancing. That's the deal. That's what I got right away. Isolation Steve You know I lived in my house for two months by myself which I do anyway, but and I didn't go out. You know how fucked up I was from it and didn't leave and. So because I was fearful. Those are the two things you need to go outside of the house. Don't do it, okay. Do not get around people and social distance six feet. So what happens is things like sports gets cancelled right away. GOING TO CHURCH SCHOOL. Shut down all the stuff where they go. Okay, these are the big ones here. These are the granddaddy's that we gotTa Stop Okay to prevent this thing. How Sports Okay House sports thinks okay. We got a social distancing wear masks. Let's the Games back on. Okay. Let's bring up contact sports. Let's do that. How hockey is going to do this I have no idea and baseball. Catcher umpire batter, right there. Guy I saw the games this week. Already the three games that I've seen the three days of baseball. Fun consider beside each other pitchers or sitting on top of each other in the dugout. Like. I say you're at Bat, and it's just like the number. One thing to do is social distant. How can you possibly think that sports is okay that we don't? Were you know there's this automatic social distancing sports right stupid? Steve Stupid Honesty signed on opening day I. Forget who it was, but a guy gets a single..

"Miami affiliation right there i think if you add a force like bill beck who would have stayed on somebody of that caliber and really and a commitment was made the team's staying they're not going anywhere no matter what i think the outcome would have been much different but unfortunate we know the negative side of it played against them in the end well i also think it's interesting because you kind of fast forward to today i mean has that preceded it a major league soccer the miami fusion which ironically never played in miami proper but i think the speculation still surrounds now those themes still are you know encircling the marlins of today a lot of a lot of conjecture a lot of hand wringing about you know the stadium and the the play and and and all the other distractions right of miami which is a a a huge bustling multicultural and scintillating dingley exciting metropolitan area and obviously oh by the way pretty darn good weather year round it seems to me that that that those inklings were you know necessarily new to that region about supporting a professional sports franchise let alone a baseball one yeah i think really it surrounds all the in choices here of course in miami everybody loves a winner and attendance always goes up when teams are winning you would even see that with the miami heat they were winning championships who couldn't buy a ticket when they had losing seasons you know it wasn't so much so if you could get a ticket there was openings the dolphins go through the same thing when they're winning they're tendons much better when they're losing like they are now you know you watch the game on TV and you see a lot of empty seats if it's really a fair weather town here i've attended some marlins games and you know some of the games i i grew up a pirates fan pittsburgh pirates i try to go to a pirates game every year at least one and when i go to the game you see more people in pirates jerseys than you do a marlins jersey so you have a lot of people here also that are transplants but not necessarily do they come out to the game and so one of the problems with the marlins of course right now they're you know they're not they don't have a winning record i think they're going in the right direction they're trying to get there but it's gonna take some time and you know there's always there south beach here there's the beach and there's so many things going on that it's really hard for them it's really it's it's a difficult proposition for ownership and also you know in the past an apprenticeship group we went through that where they were threatening the move the team to port roland threats to move it somewhere else and so over the years and would be player a lot of player transactions you know we have a champion chip and then they carry down the team and you go from a championship team to a team that's not competitive it's you know left a sour taste unfortunately a lot of people's house and i think this new ownership group once they address is it's going to take a few years and try to get people to get confidence back in the team again how much recognition aside from the name marlins which again was kind of a revelation to me and again i'm not an miami south florida native so you know doing some of the history of this name marlins prior to the current incarnation of today's team but how much of today's team and maybe it's new early now with the new management but how much how much recognition has there been if any of the the marlins how we say that preceded the current version has been any throwbacks or or or tip of the old sort of a cap of recognition about let came prior to what exists today all the marlins themselves and had very very few games in the past where they were the throwback jerseys of the original marlins the prior ownership group did have a few games if anything they've gone back more to the ninety three florida marlins uniforms the teal glac they've done more of that than anything one of the things that when barbara and i wrote the book is we're trying to bring out the people if this history of the marlins and teams prior to the marlins there's this whole history of miami baseball within the stadium itself and if you go on the third wayside over by the concession stands they have a section there about the orange bowl and they do present satchel page shows in on the mound in the orange bowl with the big crowd behind him but there is not a lot of recognition nor do people in general have much understanding of the history of where miami marlins her which was originally the florida marlins baseball where this all came because really the original miami marlins set the stage for what would eventually become the florida marlins flesh miami marlins and that's where really people started getting in their minds with in addition the spring training one day we're going to have a major league team here and though it took several more years after the original marlins left that seed was planted and eventually of course in nineteen ninety three we finally got a franchise here florida marlins so you mentioned at the top of the show you know you and this is not the first time we've heard this this rationale about why people you know who have devoted time and effort to the right booker investigate its its current fandom and wondering what's was prior to and the curiosity that's something genuine and pure about that right and and not necessarily looking at it solely as an historical exercise but i guess what i'm i'm curious about is when you began this journey to kind of go back and sort of explore what preceded today's marlins franchise cutest what did you learn that that you know i'm sure some of this stuff was pretty straightforward and basic teams and players and you know the generic sort of baseball lore but what stood out or did you discover that really surprised you when you were going back and looking at at the history prior in particular this internationally version back in the late fifties anything that jumped out is kind of unique that kind of really raise your eyebrows when you were going back and all the hard work to find out about it oh it was literally a treasure trove of information when we started digging into it and when you started discovering some of the players who passed through here some of the issues that debris the baseball dealt with over the years for instance when speaking with more he will maury wills was in here down in miami in nineteen fifty three and he roomed with clyde paris and segregation was at the time they had to stay separate from the players when they travel separate from the players who when they were in miami and he told about the obstacles that he had to overcome dealing with segregation and being set operated one of the great stories was shortstop chico fernandez who eventually played in the major leagues with the brooklyn dodgers phillies and tigers he talked about he was on the fifty to miami sun sox and he was a cuban ballplayer but sometimes when he would travel on the road he was a lighter complected player but skin color came in the factors when he went travel say tampa or saint pete and so he said he would actually have to put some powder on his face so that he was acceptable stay in the portal with his teammates eventually segregate asian changed and a lot of that was helpful to that changed with satchel page because people were so accepting of him the four national league has just full of of great stories my father-in-law amelia cabrera was the catcher in the florida international league he played for the the smokers west palm beach indians and miami beach flamingos and he played with some real characters ducky medwick was a man one of his managers and and one of the great characters of miami baseball of all time pepper martin the wild horse of the o- sich he managed in the florida internationally manage the sun sox and the flamingos and he had confrontations with umpires but yet he was a very christian man he didn't he didn't drink he would smoke a cigar now and again and he had actually spended once in havana he i've got so upset they were in the heat at dinner race he choked an empire but he was so beloved in the city fans loved him because of his interaction with the fans no matter where he went and he was a very down to earth guy and he actually came back and managed the original miami marlins nineteen fifty nine and when he came back was like a homecoming people were just went crazy because he came back his popularity just sit remained all those years because the last year that he actually meant managed in miami was the flamingos and miami beach in nineteen fifty to go he did manage in fort lauderdale in nineteen fifty three also but he was quiet the character and players that i that i spoke with for the book just remember him so fondly so what a great manager was that he addressed playing the game of the hundred and ten percent but also the play the game for fun and he would take the players on fishing trips he loved the fishy was outdoorsman and he was just one of those characters that he had so many stories around and things that he did meeting with the fans and and telling country stories the fans and it's about his hunting exploits in missouri and arkansas and so forth and he it was such a down home guy that fans just really loved them what things elude you in sort of filling in the story of of of the marlins particular the the triple a international league version are there pieces missing or or or questions that are still sort of outstanding i mean your book is fairly comprehensive and and kudos but they've got to be bits or pieces or curiosities may be still still left out there or do you think you've kinda comprehensively encapsulated all that or or some other stories maybe lingering out there that you just haven't been able to cement yet well there was some stories when i spoke to different players who had played it if you had your groupies and so forth so i didn't i didn't go into any of that into the book my when i wrote the forgotten marlins which is the first book i wanted to do it more as a tribute to the original team there was a lot of funny stories a lot of them surrendering around satchel page you know ready to.

"You have to have a good product that people are going to wanna watch because you can go EP factory of the stadium or you can go pink factor appeal factory. You know what I mean? So it doesn't matter. I'm not gonna go to Marlins park just to eat bean show factory because I can do that factory. And I don't have to pay for the name of the stadium. Honestly, I wanted to be insured Mitchell park. I know what you mean. It's hard for franchise to survive in terms of fiscally. It's hard for them to survive in the face of twenty years of losing or a really long sustained period. The Marlins actually haven't had twenty years of losing. There were quite all right in the mid two thousand but they had their other issues. But when I was interning for the Panthers during a lockout, Michael your Mark was turning stuff over and selling things like crazy. You can't have just bad s sales people. I mean look at look at seven ninety survived. I mean, su- God's was taking all sorts of deals even though like early on it probably shouldn't have. So there there are ways around it and Bauer certainly looked the part. I can't wait for David Samson and join us because I'm sure you know, some sort of inside information on what's happened here. And he wouldn't be he won't hesitate at all to tell us. He's he's definitely the fair. One to talk on this. And also ask them what what what the deal is with Michael hill. Because I mean, he didn't he do these trades? Who wasn't any do the Brinson deal? Who was it? Was it David Samson made the joke that he had pictures? Didn't we ask somebody about wise, Michael hill still there? He must have pictures. Wasn't that the joke? Someone may not real though. Oh, it's a joke. But that's like the his point was is. I have no idea. Why is there? It's baffling. It is baffling given that, you know, this organization had I mean kids have executives called Larry buying fest. Uncle Larry like he was family to that team. And they got rid of it would happen. The Larry by says what happened to Larry festive? What had happened to Randy fund? Yeah. What happened rainy fund? I think I think Randy fund didn't want to be working with Riley anymore. Because there was there were some issues over not having any real power by festival. So I think what it is. But I I have not talked. I've literally just overheard that in a couple of places I haven't confirmed that please try to find out what had happened to Randy fund in Michael. And Michael Hill's defense, though, this team has had acquired drafted talent throughout the years. It's not like a hundred and sixty two draft rounds. I I'd hope to God that was saying some Mike Michael hill is not like terrible at evaluating talent that we just haven't been able to keep any aren't these trades port of evaluating who knows who's really making all the decisions on these traits. Well, that's the thing. We're sort of puzzled as soo- who's making the decision. So it really makes it difficult to blame somebody. So I guess when they fire Michael hill as a as a sort of sacrifice to the masses. Then I guess we'll just play Michael hill. We'll take the word for or could it be that the very beginning. This. They told Jeter, hey, you should keep someone around to be a fog like what's more realistic of the two things. I just said that they actually respect it. Look, it might not have been pretty here throughout the years. But this guy knows and can evaluate talent or jeeter. You're going to need a fog. I if it has to be one of those two things I imagine that being like the closed door meetings at Loria and Samson had would Geeta were Jeter s so any sort of advice for me on the way out. Yeah, you're gonna need a fall guy. In fact, you're going to need several I loved that around. I love that as his business card instead of, you know, general manager president, just Michael hill. Fall got twenty seventeen July twenty seventeen he got a contract extension through twenty twenty. So I mean,.

"So they would have muffed the books. We'll get to David Simpson's movie review in a second. But I spoke to a couple of weeks ago about the moral movies. And I imagine with a highly anticipated movie like vendors endgame, you've probably already gone and seen this movie right to avoid spoilers. You know, very, well the answer that I have not because I will not go to a crowded theatre. And fit next to a stranger and have them talking or have people sneezing or coughing? So I am waiting for the initial. I don't look at spoilers. I don't know anything about spoilers. Even if I did it wouldn't bother me. If bothers me way more to have to elbow someone to my right who's eating popcorn with their dirty fingers. How would you? Okay. So I ran into a situation. I was watching adventures endgame because I'm active on social media and the spoilers are unavoidable and surprise you. You just don't care about spoilers. That's your I know that there's the thing that happens to that thing. And whatever doesn't mean I'm not going to like the movie I was sitting next to a second grade age child, and he was there with a father figure of some sort. I wanna call him dad because I don't know the story either way very important that you'd be meticulous about the details. Either way this kid was chatting a lot through the trailers to the point that I was thinking this may be an issue. But trailer talk is fine. Right. Well, let me be not for me. Not. Okay. So not even get it on the poll. Guillermo, are you okay? With people talking during just the. Taylor's. Okay. So as I feared kids starts making observations throughout the film. How should I approach this? Do I tell the kids something do I tell the dad something who I overheard? Did try a little early on and was rebuffed and the kid just went for all three hours, including the emotional, apex? Gotta slap the dead in the back of the head. You know, you actually have to either move move your state. And if you can't move your seat you walk out of the movie, which I've done before. And you say to the kid how inappropriate he's being regardless of age, and you say to the father that you ought to teach your child how to act during a movie because this is wrong. You've ruined my movie experience and then walk out. Hi. How many times have you been punched in the face euro? I've never been punched. I've never thrown a punch. Well, we were having a discussion the other day we had it with with athletes. You know, if they if they had different names will be view them differently. And we started to do it with movies. And so I'm wondering if rocky was called Ricky David would you rush the theater and see it everything would be different right now? It'd be the same thing you'd only know it is Ricky, right, you that's not true, Ricky musical. It's clearly a musical. How about like? No. No, no compare it though. I think about it. You would never have frame of reference of rocky as being steroid actor who's five foot six you would just know it is Ricky so I just know the story of Ricky along shot getting a shot at the title. And you think I go see it like, you know, Ricco Ricky Balboa, I hope they got goes eight, I think rocky and everything know rocky Balboa, that's the whole point. Right. David you ruined the game. You really did. But. But he's right like mission impossible, if it was called mission probable, would you go. See it. They'd be called mission probable, but they probably complete the mission that campy comparative. It totally skews. Your again have on a couple of guys instead of a few good men. That movie that you cannot an watch. When it's on no matter what the movie. Stop on it just about every time. But that doesn't mean anything I'll do the same thing with taken..

"But I'm saying Loria would spend stupid money Chang would spend money on Chen. He would spend it on book. He would get these infatuation and put the team in bad predicament because they couldn't get out of these terrible contracts that he would sign people to that he was infatuated with. So like in two thousand seventeen are you aware the Marlins payroll was one hundred and forty three million dollars because it seems hard to believe that they had one hundred and forty three million dollar payroll. They've been over one hundred million dollars in two thousand twelve is the first time and now is like the big space, but they were trying to make that they the. Thing that might just said about ballpark. The ballpark. Was the hail Mary if they could get past all the betrayals and get some winning in the ballpark, and how long did that last it lasted heath belt twenty blown saves that that didn't last even half a season again came out of the box. Tell him that whole community around. Yeah. Around that ballpark. Hey, I'm down with cash Stroh. Yeah. What was so interesting about that whole regime was they could operate. They were not quite the level of the of the razor. I think the best team in baseball right now at a at an insanely low salary, but they were really good operating within the margins and as a low budget baseball team and once it got that stadium. They got this influx of new money. And I mean, Lori was just spilling over the Har. I if they had gotten what they wanted pool halls would still be playing for you right now because you couldn't get rid of him. He'd still be in the Marlins uniform. There was nobody was going to trade for that yet pools have been playing for space instead of Gaby Sanchez, which is diff-. Story. You don't think pools would have held the two thousand twelve team. He may have helped the two thousand twelve team. What I'm saying is if they had done that look at where it is that they would have gotten stuck. I mean, I was just talking about. This was somebody the other day regarding the nets, you know, how many bad moves. The nets were ready to make on on just garbage players. And then they got re signed by the same dump team that had an allegiance to them, including the Tyler Johnson move, like the nets couldn't have been this. They had like three or four of those moves where they were going to make the dreadfully terrible decision, and they got saved from themselves. I think their whole galaxy brain plan was to sign these offer sheets with poison pills. And I'm just a handcuff all the other teams in the league show Marxist galaxy brain donlevatar, my mom verse visit worried about her son come in the Wester, which is the armpit of America and within five minutes a squat team rolls up. "But it was kind of a surprise like he was a he was a diamond in the rough that we got like you did what if today they announced they extended calebs Smith five years thirty million would never do that. What do you mean? I I would be I would cloud my hand that was tipping. Tipping point. Okay. They're going to go for it. They're starting to lock in some of the they see talent. They give them a good K Caleb. Smith was a part of this franchise before the new regime, right? Was he choir? I believe so I'm not sure honestly was he one of the few like, Mike hill like foreign products. I mean, I think Mike he'll gets a little a little bit of a bad rap. This team has had prospects. Like they've drafted talent. They just don't keep them. You know with certainly over the years one hundred sixty two rounds of the MLB draft guy that They they traded traded firm firm. in November twenty seventeen along with Gary Cooper Kupa loop. So I think twenty seventeen doesn't that mean that was the jeeter group if it was like, yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's a good trade. I don't think there's no doubting even going back to the previous regime with Michael hill. And whoever the hell was here. They can they've brought in talent. They just don't keep any of it happened. The Larry bind fast. That's a good question. Because barn, I was talked about like, I think Jennings. Maybe oh, man, Dan Jennings. The general manager you never see that who comes down to manage was. That's a low point when he was manager who what was the Marlins Lopa, Dan Jennings might be I don't know. Billy was what what's the low point the little points, obviously, the Samson regime trading. Maybe trading that hose that even though we won that's around a trade because like said that might have been a low point just in terms of like really got us again, they got us that the for me, the low point and my phantom and what killed my passion for the game. Was that Toronto trade just because I got got when Dan Jennings was made manager that was pretty low. You guys wanna feel bad about something or oh, you're going to do this. I think I know where your weight. Miguel Cabrera trade that was low. Yeah. I was really guys we've traded away. They're doing really well right now in the majors. Yeah. That's another proof. Okay. We got rid of me. So this is something that will be network. Didn't it was tweeted at me. So right now, notable former Marlins pitching prospects. Chris paddick right now. One point six seventy are a ten strikeouts per nine innings whip point sixty seventies. Or in the majors. These guys are doing. Yeah. These are the majors he's doing that. For the Padres. Louise, castio one point four seventy are eight twelve strikeouts per nine innings point eight whip wasn't Lewis Casio like traded like twice yet twice. I do. I went back, and I looked up what these people were traded for and we can get to that. In the second. One of them was traded for a pitching coach. Wait. We'll two point five nine six drag outs for nine innings point ninety six with Domingo her mind one point seven five nine point eight strikeouts per nine innings point, eighty two witching coach what pitching at the time and then became. Zone. Evan williams. Trevor Williams was traded in two thousand fifteen to the pirates for Richard Mitchell as a compensation for Marlins hiring Jim Benedict from prioritize.

"You won the mock draft in terms of most accurate picks two years ago last year a bit of a down year compared to the year before right? Yeah. I think I'm still better than Kuyper. Although I'd have to look that up check the archives on that one. But no, unlike other people like, you know, Mel kiper and mcshea they're already on their, you know, mock draft nine point six or whatever I come up with one mock draft and one only and it will appear a couple of days before the draft in April and not to give too much away. But you've said this on their you're one of the only guys that reaches out to other people on the beat. What are you guys hearing over there, you you do you actually do some reporting when it comes to your mock draft when you compile this stuff? So the work has already begun. Well, yes, rolling it. Yes. And no it's early yet. I mean, he started reading Mel kiper and Todd mcshay draft is still seven weeks away. And you know, everybody just recycles what everybody else is thinking. Yes. As a template as a basis. For how I think a draft might look I do read the mock drafts of people I respect, you know, if Peter King comes out with a mock draft. I'll I'll give it a glance. It's not going to influence me. But it does Peter King read years, I have no clue where does that line of respect? And like who's the first report of that you get to like mad and really care what you glance at drafted glance at Dave hides mock draft. I don't even know if he doesn't monk draft while you won't even give him the attention. Have you seen any good movies lately? Well, not in a theater, but in home, I what was the last. What was the last movie? You saw I saw bohemian rhapsody and I saw a stars warn. Okay. I got your thoughts on a star is born. I don't think I got your thoughts on bohemian rhapsody. Chris all you saw this with your dad. No, no we saw separately. Oh, I I saw it. And I had heard your criticism of it. I do agree that it it did seem to just brush over some of the darker sides of fantasy land. Right. I did enjoy the movie though, like I enjoy obviously, the music scenes are awesome. And I just enjoyed because I have it's not like I've read books on, Freddie. Mercury. So I didn't really other than just watching YouTube clips him. I hadn't watched read a lot about him. So I feel like I know him better than I did before. Well, the most compelling thing about the Queen story is the demise of Freddie, Mercury which was short changed in the movie. They're already talking about a Bahamian rhapsody sequel, by the way. Oh, are they might hear more about that in an an finally, and I suspect that it might? Endeavor to tell a more complete picture of the band, and what became of it that was my only complaint about, but he mean rhapsody was that it told half the story and left out for me. The most interesting part the conflict didn't seem real they they pretended to hate, Freddie. Mercury. Just because he was off doing things, but they don't really get into the things that he was doing right outside of just, you know, a cursory mention out there. There wasn't enough conflict. I didn't really buy it. But the music performances were actually there were pretty disappointing up to up until the Live Aid scene, which is just one of the better scenes of last year in cinema a shot for shot recreation, credibly challenged what was wrong with their earlier music scene. I don't like the way that they edited it. I was obvious that it was like dub like, no. Well, I mean, no one through. Yeah. Isn't it win an Oscar for editing for the editing, which is there were some scenes in there that were just chopped up all to hell, I don't I don't understand. I one of the more polar..

But if you're not first you're last unless you Chris Cody in which you're actually last you gotta ginger sour sours placed first and second last year only sour called ginger, yum, yum. I don't think or the temperature all you can drink imperial IB as all all year. So let's not get into that now and imperial IPA's stronger than your average IP. That's what makes it. That's right. Do you know why it's called the an IP? India pale ale why it's called in. India pale believe it has something to do with England and the country of India. That's right. Roy back in the day when they were transporting beard to India, which was a part of the United Kingdom at the time. They would have to put more hops to preserve the ale this lead to a stronger beer, hence, the style. That's right. Wow. You learn something. I was hoping for eighteen we want people to ride share. Definitely don't drink and drive. That would be silly. Yes. But in idiot. Yes, okay driver. We're trying to enjoy some live music some suds and some hoops, that's not professional, and it's happening the month before April all hail is named a beer..

"And I was wondering if you had five peak as how many would you stop if I had five well PK's random is key case it depends on who. I'm going up the goals and pens. I don't know. If you're the goalie and Chris Cody kicking. Okay. He's going to sail a few. He's gonna sign goals. Let's do it last time for five just behind the scenes stuff last time. It was in town. She told us that she used to be a high school soccer player and that she grew up playing soccer. And then this situation came up where it was like, well, how many goals can mean a score on Mike because Mike just had was bragging about what he did the night before it soccer, something, and she said that she'd make the majority of them, and then he said that it's all random, and that he wouldn't be able to predict how many he could start we need to just do it. We need to just do it. Everybody on the show taking PK's against my mean, they aren't really random. But yeah, we can do that. I want to play goaltender as well. We can do that. I got Mike stop and three of them at least five away. I think five. Yeah. I think I can he's going to size. Are we doing real goals of a baby goals, whatever you want? So like real size ghouls, I'm barely kicking these and I'm placing him in the corner. Don't doubt me Mike don't do this. I'm not I'm not downing you. I'm saying that you're going to sail one out of five, and I could probably stop two of them. So I think I can stop the majority. Let's plan to Bill for next week all of us. Cody sitting here Chris saying that Greg was was a goalie in college, and I have stopped a penalty kick in my in mature also made out of dust and cobwebs. Now, that's true to my my bones are so brittle. I feel them creaking and cracking as I walk. I'll us my whole life growing up. I thought he was an FAU college goalie I've later learned that he was a club goalie so little laterals. Yes. I mean, no, no, no, look listen to me. I I don't know anything here other than Cody being an umbrella. Sure of what he did as a young person. Like, I believe him to not be the goalie for the actual team. I believe him to be one of the club level goalies on ten intramural teams his finished four in the way the way that he always set sold it to me that it was a step above intermurals. It was at below being an official team so somewhere in the middle there. And then he was the backup on this team. Right. And he started one game. And he gave up like seven goals, we lost at Florida International Institute of technology in Jensen beach, seven one. With me minding the net the nine one it could have been living good of a nine one..

"He was he was overpaid. But he was good while and we just keep wasting the years keep wasting him as the patriots when the championship and the dolphins aren't anywhere close in John James is coming into his prime. And I don't think anybody would have complained if Miami had overspent spent more than they wanted to to keep him because with Tunsil and James you had pretty good above average book and tackles and now you lose half of they've wasted. All of the discovery in value that they had in Cameron wake wasted all of it. They got a pass rusher cheap that succeeded and played for them and they wasted. All of it. Cameron wake probably the greatest fine of the Parcells era might have his name retired in the ring of honor. You gotta. Imagine is second best pass rusher in franchise history. I think that's quoting the sats and just the eye test. He was really good. He's his career here appears to be over. Right. So they've announced their intentions this year. You can close the book on all that stuff. Yeah. They wastage Juan James they wasted the players that they actually hit on came wake Dominic and sue wasn't a terrible contract. And he played up to it. He just was playing in a position that wasn't really helping you win games considering the the issues on the roster, but close a book on all that starting a new. Yeah. And it's too bad because there's to be a little way to do both to to reboot, but strategic tag is right. I know they have to say something else to to the fan base. But they're tanking. Correct. Well, they seem like when you look around the league. And you look at all the moves everybody else's making it almost seems like there's thirty one teams appreciably palpably trying to get better. And then there's the dolphins. And it's it's a weird strategy in the in the problem with tanking for twenty tank. Taking for two is that the odds of them getting a two of from Alabama are pretty slim just mathematically there's there's going to be a bad team injuries. You don't know how injuries I go to work out. They can absolutely new Kasese them right colts one from pain manning. The Andrew luck one one bad injury to a quarterback and absolutely Nukus season. So yeah there there's no guarantee, but it's a better quarterback class. This is not a good quarterback class. Right. This year. There's well. There's two or three guys. There's drew lock. And then there's is it Dan Jones Daniel Jones, do he's pretty good. He's okay. Pretty came down here in one against the Miami hurricane. I've never feared Daniel Joe. Right. I think he's going to be a first round pick. Yeah. But I think that's probably more just that speaks to the lack of depth and talent at the position. And it's a position of need every year. There's going to be quarterbacks that go in the first round, regardless of how good the classes last year was the year that you wanna be bad. There were a lot of good quarterbacks and last year's class when you compare that last year's class class. There's. No comparison. I'll I'll be interested in what the dolphins do this free agency period. You know, speculation about tyrod Taylor. I what sense does that make tyrod Taylor is Ryan tannehill. You know, he's the older I've seen them both. I thought tyrod Taylor was better than Ryan tannehill entering last year. I don't though I mean, look tyrod Taylor didn't have the best opportunity because when he was starting it was huge Jackson and Todd Haley, and then offense was an absolute disaster. And it wasn't the best showcase of it skills. But tyrod Taylor was bad. But in tyrod Taylor, you're signing the bridge quarterback the stopgap guy, which you're losing ten hill. Why not renegotiate tannehill? Keep them for one more year. If you're going to do that. And if you're looking for the stop and the jets and along with Adam gates might be the landing spot for Ryan. Helen, how would that be an injury to Sam darnold and Ryan tannehill coming down here and having colpepper games we go out to Josh. Josh, I here you have a sucker question. Do your big soccer guy. And I know that Chris Cody is the best leg of the shipping container..

"It was going on there that made it go so fast. There's no commercial breaks, but they do have warm up in between innings. So then I was trying while I was there like in the press box by. Myself going through like, well, how can people? No. I mean, Joe for Sar was in the corner. Kind of holding court like everybody seemed to look up to him and be talking to him. I was just kind of kept to myself. I talked to a couple of guys in the back. And some photographers and stuff. But are you a celebrity when he go to a Marlins game? No, Greg Mitch made. It seem like it makes it seems like it's a it's a venue showing up to a Marlin in a formal capacity while he was trying to embarrass me, by the way, Peter O'Brien who was hitting point eighty seven going into it or and slam only got five RV is he was putting average went up to one fifty four Peter O'Brien will probably going to be the the right fielder. But it hasn't been a good spring. He was at the Gulf thing we went to a few when they re like so he played towards the end of last season. And he is he's a local kid you from highly a- and Peter O'Brien's. I no hitter O'Brien. Mumps Cuban his dad is Brian and yeah, they tried to use them like in the rollout. But he's not had a great spring. But he had a good day real quick before we go to break. What is the Billy Billy gills Marlins experts opinion going to be your opening day lineup for the Miami Marlins. Let me see if I've heard of any of these. Peter O'Brien is someone I've heard all right. So it depends on who's pitching against the Moreland. They'd have to look who's starting because Curtis Granderson is going to be playing in a platoon role. And I don't think that he's going to be facing, many lefties. So if it's a righty pitching. Let's just all righty. Then I'd say Granderson in left field Brindisi center. Peter o'brien. And right. First base is a good question. Let's just say. Have Neil Walker there for now Starling castrates second at shortstop. I can't believe sterling Castro's still here weren't they trying to train them immediately quired him. Yeah. While he's here shortstop, let's say I'm gonna put JT riddle there. Even though it's back and forth between him and go row. Hus- not one hundred percent sure on that. Then Brian Anderson at third that's the that's a highly touted, dude, right? Brian Anderson's a guy that used to take a next step? He is. Yeah. I mean, whatever he'll probably be are also this year. I found a projected lineup on Twitter. Okay. Billy seems to be right with all the starters. The lineup would be batting Faro Faro be catching obviously, he's gonna he believes going to get a couple. He's gonna get some more action. Even though he is a bit of an injury is gonna get some more action before opening day. And then the starting pitcher on opening day will be Ranya and the lineup. They have is granted I Lewis Brinson. Second Starling Castro. Third. Put your best center. Second. Brian Anderson fourth Peter. O'brien fifth or hail farro six. Neil walker. Seventh JT riddle eighth assume can challenge for maybe thirty six wins on the sounds of it. Yeah. It's not a very good sounding team guys. I admitted lands a lot of players names. But this one I'm pretty sure he made up half of these. It's gonna be a struggle might be a bright spot. But just score some runs. I mean, clearly if Chen can crack this the starting rotation we're got to find a diamond in the rough. And who is that diamond in the rough is a Peter O'Brien from high Fara could be that. Okay. Sure. All right. Well, look good. No. I was I was opportunity has gone way too long. It's spring ball. I'm trying to get excited for Marlins baseball. And I think the opposite happened, although I found out that this is a guy named Peter O'Brien that's from Hialeah, which is the second most shocking highly effect that I learned since last week when I found out Vincent and Africa was from highly. Tuck -nology truth.

"Not. All right. Didn't have the dream. I can imagine it cold sweats cold sweats. When you think about it, Billy? He has the writing on the wall, if people had walls, the writing would be on the wall for tannehill to move on somewhere and be better than it was here if people had well, what does that mean? You don't see the writing on the wall when you look at tannehill. Yeah. I get you know, we've been trying to figure out what the what the writing on the walls says for a decade, and it'll be clear as soon as he leaves as soon as he leaves such as life for the Miami dole. Right. It was just be the most dolphins thing ever. By the way. I have to apologize just going to ask if you agree to apologize. I need to clarify. I got a bunch of people sending me pictures with butter straight in their hand melted. Listen people talking about it. The restaurants where they had the prepackaged butter. Okay. You put the in the wrapper you put the butter in your hand. Then you close the butter hand microwave. You don't do it with just the butter? I had multiple pick. Pictures of gross butter hands people like, hey, it worked it does work, but it works with you don't have to take it out of out of the seal. How's this? Why you lost life? Heck, I was just gonna ask. How did you lose yesterday? Because that is the main thing we've ever done it really got us I ever life hack attack win. I think it was just by flipping the the can around the thing that you use the terrible life back the soda can tab to put a straw in that flip it around, and it's a better straw holder. He gets his first ever win. I've been alerted that my life hasn't even possible. So there's that I think we're going to question this whole Frank or global thing. I if that's what they want. Right. Just talk caller one you're on the air. Hey, so with all these players pushing one hundred different teams like, you know, Franko or until the around it's on he's not gonna affect hall of fame of lake retired jerseys and all that. That important conversation without ever having. Antonio Brown's probably going to get his jersey retired by the Steelers after all the dust settles. He's had a hall of fame career as a Pittsburgh Steeler. I mean dudes already thirty he goes into the hall of fame. He goes in as a Pittsburgh Steeler, unless he puts up three of the most phenomenal years as raider. And we know that's not going to happen because. We know how this ends for Antonio Brown. Okay. You got your money. Happy for you, your production will go down. And it's not even a raider thing though. The force is strong with that. It's an age thing. It's still in the raiders or the agent. I think marshawn Lynch there's some ambiguity surrounding his status. I think he's pretty much retired really question. This your last year in Oakland. Yeah. He wanted to stick around another year. Let me see he wasn't ineffective last year. Was he? They weren't great. I mean, it wasn't race Mobis older. He did get. He was no Frank or didn't have a he didn't have a full season..

"No, I'm not even gonna say where Jesus I can't power to take a long sip of diet. I don't like the guy. Don't like a lot of what he did. But I he's not Mike get these. He did say you'd wear. I get the audio. I wanna play it back for stamping gun. I want to start the national show with a national controversy. The van Gundy's are people who do not stand by their word. Their father would be infuriated right now. I mean, STAN Van Gundy gave us an oral contracts to gods. He gave us an oral contract, and we end up in this damn place where he's not willing. We got a t shirt made. I'm getting texts earlier this week while I'm doing the show. What sizes standing Gundy distracting me from some racial point? I was making that could've tripped me up and ended all of our careers to send you this damn t shirt that you have to wear. Stan you have to wear it. Brought he said, yeah, I just I can't do it. I can't do it. I mean. Unbelievable. Unbelievable as I don't like David Stern and the way he baked shirt. Stan man, you know, what? I'll do I'll pay you for the shirt money. Doesn't solve every everything you have no principle. Everyone can be bought, Dan. It's just a matter of the price. Telling him to Detroit. No, no. That was not true. But we are going to bury. "And if that doesn't materialize, you know, it's hard for them to get the money to go out and sign somebody, even though Miami is a very desirable place. So. You know, it's not easy. They are sort of stuck. They wanna win. But they want to get better in now, they're sort of making a move to get better. But it's it could very well cost them a playoff spot. What San said is interesting. Tyler Johnson represents everything that the heat franchise stands for. Going beyond what was perceived as your potential working hard believing in that culture. But it also represents what they're known for lately, which is dishing out bad contracts. And it's amazing to me the short memory that goes on in the NBA. This is kind of who they are the LeBron big three that's to uniforms removed for LeBron James, Gordon Hayward, Gordon Hayward, who's been in the league a minute, okay. Is taking a meeting with Pat Riley, and he doesn't know Pat Riley for any of his coaching success. So my theory with what's going on with his jersey retirement with Chris Bosh is I think this is a lot of PR for Pat Riley to sort of rebuild that image. Because LeBron took a lot of that shine off this franchise and Pat didn't exactly take it. Well, so to welcome back, Chris Bosh and the good graces and start rebuilding. Some of these relationships it has a benefit to Pat Riley's image. And. Yeah, I mean it does and it is a PR move. But it's also a move. I think to to honor a guy I mean, let let's be clear that that made some real sacrifices go in there and was a key part of you know, the run to four straight finals in two championships and of the three stars there had to make the biggest sacrifice to his game. And that's the kind of guy that the Pat would always honor. You you really have changed your tune on Chris Bosh? I remember it's a strong commentary as I heard from anyone at the time where you said when Chris Bosh was on the stage dancing with LeBron Dwayne. I believe you called him a lapdog or said that like what is Bosch doing? He's never won anything. I was surprised by how strong your comments are were. And then he came in here. And he said, you never know the sacrifices you're making until you make them, and then he was a pillar professional, and he did all the unselfish things. It sounds like he changed your mind a little bit. Well, not. Not really change my mind. I still think in that year when he signed. I mean, if they would've said, hey, come on, Chris we're going to Siberia, he would have gone. I mean, it was like he wasn't even part of the decision wasn't making his own decision. He his decision was I'm going to play with LeBron Dwayne and wherever they take me I'm willing to go. I mean, that's how I viewed that. So I really wouldn't change my opinion on that. But that doesn't take away the respect I have for him as a as a player and as someone that had to make a lot of sacrifices in his game. I mean, the guy was a great great player in Toronto a mad face him in a playoff series. And I mean, this guy was really really good as go-to guy. Yeah. Couldn't get them a long way deep into the playoffs. But without a ton of help was able to, you know, get them into the playoffs and make them very good basketball team. So I have great respect for what he was as a play. Player the sacrifices he made. But I still feel the same way about the movie made become to Miami. You can call me out if you think I'm being gullible here, but Bosh did sign before LeBron James hidden, Dan who was plugged into that franchise said that they weren't exactly sure of LeBron's decision up until the point that he made a stop, please, you're calling Dan lebatardshow bad..

"Marlins are not in any sort of position and completely close off an entire county for business who's upset about that honesty. If you're upset about that you need to get a life. Let's be real you need to real if they're jeeter say go, I want to focus on Coral Gables and coconut grove, and you're like up believe that he didn't mention parkland. I can't believe he didn't say fort Lauder. I'm not going to watch another Moreland. That's outrage. Broward. Man, outraged Broward County resident and I am not going to a Marlins game. Because of what Derek jeeter said on Monday morning, Dan, Levy hard. I feel like Billy's take would be a little differently. If it was talking about Miami fans, but you know, I'm not we don't have to go down there. But concerned about them trading with the MVP's AM about them saying who they're focusing on getting into the stadium honest with you that would keep me away more words, but it's hard for you to empathize with the people from Broward because you're being a little myopic. That's just you're in your own cocoon right now, Chris is a huge Marlins fan. He's actually made it out to games, and he's one of these English. Speaking Marlins fans at sort of feeling like, hey is this club. Really for me. I feel like he doesn't even realize how close Broward is the way he said it like I feel like he's just put it on the poll has jeeter ever been to Broward. It's an excellent point, dude. I live in KENDALL. It takes me just as long to get to that ballpark. As would for somebody that lives on in Las olas. Can we play the actual clip because I feel like we're overstay stating what he actually said he just said we're focused first on the people around the ballpark. You didn't like poop on our? You're you're right gamma. But what might is saying is also, right? There are any number of ways to answer this question. This is the least effective way to truth. Tell I I understand what you're saying. What are you? What are you going to check to it? Doesn't matter. What he's saying is my point that's fine. But he he was amazing for three decades not saying anything in front of the cameras he lives in a tabloid city and never had a scandal somehow because he doesn't say anything. And then they ask him about proud. And he's like we don't need customers over there. So I think for us we have to worry about obviously getting the fan base. That's closest to us know, whether that's coconut grove, whereas Coral Gables, whether it's Brickell with pine crest. You know, all these areas. We have to focus on, you know, really marketing to them and getting them to come into the park and experienced this, you know, Marlins brand baseball now. So I think we need to focus on what's closest to us, and then we can build out. But you know, I think it said something that this organization may have you know, obviously playing up that hard rock. What was it? What was the called back in the day here? Nine eight is somewhat play approp- players part. Okay. So. Yes, we need to focus on the community closest to. So the question in capsulated is you guys ignoring Broward County. And then he proceeds to ignore Broward County. Can you put a pit bull song together with jeeter just shouting out Miami cities? I was surprised. I I was surprised that he knew that much of Miami. For the reason that Chris stated about him probably not venturing a whole lot into Broward. Even though I guess didn't it did the Anki train there. When when he was there full Lauderdale really I thought they were Tampa there in Tampa now. But at what when did they leave for Lauderdale was jeeter there? He had a twenty year run in New York was he part of Fort Lauderdale INCE rose during jeeter's career, isn't that whereas castle was it was in Saint jeeter's Berg. Yeah. Do you think is actually turn people off, Dan like people are not going to ten games because of this because I feel like it's just an excuse to be mad at jeeter in the Marlins people who aren't gonna tend weren't going to attend..

"So where do you draw the line on the jersey and the rafters situation because right now, if you're looking at the history of this organization only having three basketball players up in the rafters is kind of crazy to me. And then all of a sudden now and the next year or two you're gonna pump in another double possible four or five more guys. All right. So I just want to because I've been writing this down, and I just wanna follow logic chock in this up. You know, I just want to follow the logic ladder. You're saying don't retire. Bosch don't retired. Lebron don't retire twain way don't retire. Any of those jobs is eight ruin the franchise. Just retire rate. Allen's jersey, Shane Batty. Jones did. Okay. Cool. All right. So he's making it more jerseys and rafters just not LeBron Dwayne Wade, Dan as he pointed out, they said the franchise back years. Well, I get I could argue that romburg being in the hall of fame is also university of Miami expanding its viewpoint in a while in a way that you hasn't been any good since he left either like romburg left and hasn't been any good sins either. So he's been a part of the big three there inducting guys from my era now like they're still on my era, which is set. I mean, he's a Senator he shouldn't be in there. Let's just say. Ron rod dog. I mean, Ron dog deserves to be any of his tailgates. Never fumbled a snap ever in my life. Your On work. your work e overcame alligator arms. Dan cohn. Man short is T Rex arms are it's incredible. How short is arms for good-looking. My wife is win and had a loan. I could go in the hall. You are absolutely an overachiever. There's no doubting that in every walk of life. You're an overachiever. But all I'm saying is that the university of Miami, a hall of fame is allowing too many people. And when it starts admitting the centers, he grew up in an igloo, I don't feel it. Chris Bosh should go in there. Nobody pulled like the Rahm Doug now, literally. All right. Thank you so much Brett Robert for sharing your fire take that we should hold Chris Bosh illness against him. And there was a minor part of the take we're focusing way too much on that ass. All right, by the way. You've heard the news guys that Chris Bosh is going to retire. So right now, there's a window where he announced that he's going to retire that the Lakers can still sneak in there because he hasn't officially done it. So keep your eyes peeled, and my guess, he's he's probably going to try to go and collect a little bit. From that Bosch jersey that they're going to be selling as well that night. You know, the new heat jersey, the one that's pink and blue and all the beautiful sexy colors, which is the Abrahams. I'm going to get a percentage. I love I love Robert. Okay. He is a true breakout star in radio, we're not even making those anymore. But the idea that he would plant his flag on let me be the one guy to rip Chris Bosh? Honestly, even for you romburg, that's blasphemous even from day one day one. I never enjoyed Bosh because I never enjoyed him. When he was in Toronto. That's where it all started. I thought he was big soft, and I could back down on the love of God. And he's doubling down. He's just ruining the entire retirement ceremony. And the only good things feel about basketball down here ruining we forgot the Canadian aspect use his hurt because of the Chris Bosh leaving the raptors situation. So he's in his mind. He's crippled two franchises and doesn't deserve to get his jersey retired by either you can listen to Brett Romberg Jonathan's as an amber every morning here on seven ninety the ticket for those that are just listened to.

"But now, let me go and crank that bad boy up to one hundred thirty and by the way, I'm gonna hold you accountable. I'm out peace force, by the way, you're not gonna have any more money for anybody else either. And we're going to hang out for a couple of years, and I'm gonna continue to try to play and I'm gonna get seventeen different opinions from forty five different positions. But I'll telling me I can't play. But you know, what I'm gonna continue fighting the good fight because I'm gonna still continue to try to play the more. Sudden March twenty six is I'm going to be the first one announce my retirement and retire at the same time. I'm an innovator. No, man. No. The more you talk the more. This is making sense to me because we were promised eight championships. So I think an argument could be made that the big three air was a giant appointment. Why doesn't really get his jersey up there? He probably had one of the most epic remembering shots ever enhance. Then he franchise history. Now, I feel like you're being a little easy on Wade. Because if things are the way that you say, they are, and they really said this franchise back Wade's, essentially an accomplice to this crime. He is, but then he came back, and, you know, he afforded them something the cheer about and a grand, but criminals often go back to the scene of the crime, just to make sure things are okay. Which dealers do? Yes, I agree with you. Yeah. He he did go to Cleveland. It's not just the Chicago thing. He had another opportunity come back that the him deciding on Cleveland is also missing from that D. Wade final tour t shirt, that's just ceiling. Everybody's money. And were you all intoxicated with the return as well? Because the video of him in his Chica on the private plane coming back to the Miami airport like where you all like like blushing and giggling as well like little schoolgirls or were you just kind of like dude, you kinda screwed us for like a year and a half. I mean, Billy had that approach. I was giggling like a schoolgirl, Chris giggling like it was mostly giggling like schoolgirls, and then Billy just here. But I waited but I won't forget the pain. He's like the cheating spouse that ultimately came back once he realized that it wasn't that good out in the Scripps because it's cold outside and LeBron and Dwayne after a few conversations like, you know, what man is go back and retired of the place where you're absolutely beloved because it's cold outside. And I've heard a lot of takes but holding Chris Bosh is illness against them is just next level fire. So what do we do about this romburg? I'm kind of with you on this. What do we do? Do. We have like a protest outside the day that the retiring the jersey, what do you want to do about this? I would like to go ahead and incorporate Shane Batty in the jersey retirement, as well, I would like to go ahead and give Ray shot because Tobin made up a good point. The Celtics aren't even gonna retire rate. Allen's jersey, so I'm wondering what like what team at what point? And what guy do we stop from all of these championship teams? Because if you do look at the way that the Miami hurricanes are operating as well and the UM hall of fame and for that matter now, which even going to be the NFL hall of fame. There's going to be a lot of Kane's because they're coming from. A lot of championship teams..
