"Your mom was one of the pioneers in chicago when it came to sports broadcasting and happened to be woman and i think for people like your mom. I think you see the world changing. Were far more respectful and aware that it can't be a boy's game anymore. It's time to let the best people in the room. And if they happen to be a woman so be it. But i think the great thing jason. She checks a lot boxes. She's an asian woman who didn't play in the big league. That was such a stigma. Twenty years ago. Oh you didn't play in the big lake. My gosh i heard it well now. I think young women wake up and they say there's somebody looks like me in that role and until today really until friday. No one ever saw anyone looking like them in that role. And it's fifty. One percent of the world's population now suddenly is asian american woman years. The general manager of the miami. Marlins i think that alone or give hope to not just young women. Asian american men. Suddenly we say wait a second. Here's somebody looks like me. I can be that person. And i think for that. Our society is better off today. I have said that for so many years that all it takes is one seeing one person that looks like you in an industry to say. Oh my gosh that's it. I'm going to do this. Okay i want to do this. And that's what it took for me indian. You're so right. The number of people that she is going to affect the in the future generations. This is personal for a lot of us. And i'm still getting emotional right now because it is that big of a deal. Can she handle it mean. Just that's a lot of pressure on one person's shoulders and we don't mean to make it a bigger mountain than it is but truly when they are in the decision making and the hiring and the firing that is when we have progress because they make decisions on who gets some of those jobs. Great clink peggy. I think first of all yes. Undeniably qualified has been qualified for probably about fifteen years I remember sitting in our pool in los angeles with our feet in the water and she had just been denied one of those opportunities and i said listen. Your time's gonna come.

Marlins Name Kim Ng MLB's First Female General Manager
"Huge story today from the world of Sports. The first we have a first Ah Qiming. Who has worked in baseball. Dating back to 1990. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox. And then she was an assistant general manager with the New York Yankees, And she was insistent general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and she's been interviewing and interviewing, interviewing, and today she became the first general manager. Was a female. Who is also Asian. All of it in Major league baseball history. She's gonna be kind of work for the Miami Marlins. Now I was thinking like Did I probably not gonna be able to get Kim on the air tonight because, you know You might be a little bit busy, but you know, the Chicago Cubs have a Rachel holding. And Rachel was a stud softball player, and she has been with the Cubs now. Ah! As a hitting structure in the minor leagues, and she does a lot of technical stuff. And so I reached out and she was happy to come on. She's tweeting about the happy she was for Cam and she joins us now, Rachel, I know this was an absolutely huge day for you for for Kim for the industry as a whole. Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, I know Kim personally, So you know, no one is more deserving of this job, and all you have to do is look at her resume toe understand that she's Probably overqualified in in a lot of ways, just really, really happy for her proud of the Marlins. Just pretty exciting stuff. Were you expecting this to happen? Once you heard that she was interviewed like this has got to be the one I didn't know she was interviewing. I actually, um maybe I just didn't follow it too closely, But I know her journey has put her in an assistant GM position. A few times, So I figure any time there's a GM opening. She should be considered for it So, but I didn't know she was interviewing personally, But so it was, like a total surprise for me, and I kind of dig it. Yeah, For sure. Like just for those who don't know Kim's career path. Just Ah. Thumbnail shot of it. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox that started back in 1990. Then she became an assistant general manager for the Yankees and 98 left New York to go to the Dodgers in 2001, as in the same position. Then she interviewed to be the GM for the first time in 2005. Ned Colletti got that gig. And now it's been 15 years trying to become a GM. And here she is, What do you aspire to in the game, right? So you got a sweet position right now. But if you know, 10 years out, if you could pick something, any idea what it would be You know, I get this question a lot. I think with the way that the baseball season has gone first, I'd like to get a full year of baseball under my belt. No without a pandemic or anything else kind of derailing that, but You know, my my passion has always just been being in the cage and influencing players. And so you know, both of those things I'm very, you know, fortunate to have the position that I have right now because it allows me to both of those things. As for where I go from here, I mean, as long as I'm not sitting behind a desk and I get to be interacted with the players and put a uniform on and be in the cage. I think that's zef innately where I wanna be.

Miami Marlins: Derek Jeter, Kim Ng make baseball history
"I want to start with What I mentioned in the update, and that is the hiring of Qiming as the new GM off the Miami Marlins. And just off the top before we get to the historical nature of this and what it means for North American professional sports, moving forward. Just it is interesting to me. You know? Inevitably, the Rockies and the Marlins will be linked. Both coming into the league together. Iraqis and Marlins or not rivals by any stretch of the imagination. It's certainly if you are Iraqis Fan and the Marlins do something good. And the Rockies. Don't You inevitably draw that line between each other. And for the longest time, even though the Miami the now Miami Marlins used to be Florida Marlins have been more successful or tasted Oldham. Its success more than the Iraqis have. For the most part, the Marlins have been one of the worst run organizations. In all of baseball. We all remember Jeffrey Loria. Would buy a championship. Did buy a championship. 97 When Edgar Renteria got that hit off of Jose Mesa and the world Syriza's Sold everybody off. Because the wage bill would have been too high. But through that, by selling off all those players, he ended up getting a lot of really talented young players. Josh Beckett, Juan Pierre Carl Pavano. And they We're able to go win a championship, and then they were all sold off. Couple of ownership changes later, a monstrosity of a stadium poor attendance. Fire sales seemingly every other year incomes Derek Jeter and we thought that it was going to be more of the same. How in the world Is Derek Jeter. Going to Be the And he's not He runs the Marlins that he has a money man behind him. That helped him get the deal done as much money is Derek Jeter has made throughout his career. He can't outright by a major league baseball team himself, so he has kind of a What Silent partner that kind of front him the money, But he's the face. He's the guy that is making all the decisions. And it's something that We really haven't seen too much. And North American pro sports. We've seen plenty become G m's even presidents. And I guess that might be Derek Jeter's technical title, but two Be The owner. Of a team like the true owner, not nine. Justin Timberlake buying Air Peyton Manning's wife, buying shares of the Memphis Grizzlies. Like it's his team. And then they promptly had a fire sale. After he took over. We thought, okay, same old Marlins. Quietly. They have become one of the more Progressive Four thinking which I guess are It basically means the same thing. Progressive four thinking. Competent. Organizations in baseball.

Miami Marlins, Jeter Part With Exec Michael Hill After 19 Seasons
"So I don't know what the hell the marlins did over the weekend because they seem to have their first good since what two, thousand three and we were all wondering what Michael Hill was doing still with that job early on in that regime, and now they finally have a good season and they don't bring him back now he's not technically fired his contract expired. They're not renewing it for people who don't know. Michael. Is the GM for the Miami Marlins and what are you guys billy what do we make of this? Like what is doing here where we finally have a good season and then we get rid of Michael. Hill I mean I think before the season no one would have been surprised if Michael, Hill, wasn't there at the end of the season his contract was expiring. You wasn't part of this regime. person they inherited kept. So they you know made them an offer they couldn't come to an agreement and that's it. Now, they'll bring in their own person and that'll be that they did actually make an offer that well. Let me give you some clarification on this because David. Samson. Actually talked to Mike Ryan during during the segment that they do that is always informative and he if you were listening to that actually. What happened is exactly what he said was going to happen which is the Marlins were going to make him You know I'm using this term figurative figuratively, but also literally a token offer because he's one of two black executives in the league with that kind of power it's one of the reasons that he was still there even as they gutted the entire franchise because it wouldn't have looked good and quietly during twenty twenty after a playoff season. They needed to look like he turned down the job. So David Sampson said it was an embarrassing. He predicted an embarrassingly low offer that Michael Hill couldn't accept and that would he would have to walk away from and so what they said in the press release is mutual parting of ways.
NFL will begin testing for COVID-19 on game days, still not considering playoff bubble
"Their covert 19 testing protocols as we all make our way through the pandemic our first time through the lineup, so to speak. We learn as we go. We make adjustments as necessary. Sports leagues continued to do. This Major league baseball first round its regular season with teams playing in their home stadiums, but then decided to move the playoffs. Interest included bubbles and they'll be dealt with an outbreak on the Miami Marlins and cases on other teams and rules became more strict Justus they have in the NFL has more games get postponed because of cases of covered 19. This week, the NFL made more adjustments to its covert 19 protocols. The greatest change, perhaps The NFL will begin to test players, coaches and some staff members on game days, which it hadn't done to this point. But rapid tests will get conducted at team hotels and more bio reference testing. Staff will travel with teams Jared Max Fox

They have 21 games left, and they don't play the Marlins again after this Siri's so the next seven games. I mean, really, If you're talking about the NL East, whether or not they overtake the Braves, they can certainly They can they can. They can more or less make the make The Marlins not have a shot of coming in second in the division, and you come in second in the division. You make the playoffs of pretty important. Siri's Yeah. I mean, listen, you got seven games, and there's one team got to double headers mixed in there. I mean, we know what this team is by now, um, and the Marlins are team has had their number in the past, and Rubin said it early. Sometimes when you talk about divisional opponents They just for whatever reason there, there's just opponent. You don't necessarily play well against all the time and they match up better against you. And did you have in football Because you always owned the Giants? You know, funny thing for us before we got the new alignment for the NFC East. It was the Cardinal Arizona Cardinals. And you know what? I'm like, No matter how bad they were. They beat us at the long before you were an eagle when Buddy was coaching you and they were the Phoenix Cardinals. You always knew that that game was going to be trouble. Roy Green Stump Mitchell, Neil Lomax. Somehow, some way they were gonna win one of the games when you were clearly the better team. But the marlin Millicent more. Let's have some talent on the scene they always have. That's the other thing. They always have young talent that we never heard of before. And you know the stars in the making, and then they get rid of them when they start to make money, and they have to re start all over again, But it's amazing that they're able to continue. To be like, Listen, they're not gonna win any world serious. They love there's a one right but the fact that they're able to produce this many players and remain competitive at theirs. And the salaries that they keep is pretty amazing. Really is so tonight, Jake Area is on the mound like and you take the over. Yes, You know, the last time he was out here, here's the thing, And it's the same thing with Alaska's would do the same thing with Velasquez yet go to fan out and check it out. It's the same thing with Velazquez that when you don't expect anything, anything from him like in the doubleheader when he pitched, Yes, there's pretty well. When you don't expect anything. Think for Mariana, then he's actually good. When you say he's cooked, he'll actually do all right for you. And then when you stand like, all right, maybe he's getting together. He felt threw up like a five burger. In three innings. Now you're right. You just don't know what to expect. In the moment you start to buy in and believe he gives you the anywhere. What was it? 10 runs on nine. Rather something gave up. Yeah, I mean, that happens, right? And then he gives up one earned run in his next start. But, you know, he really doesn't have a lot of margin for error because his velocity right now, if he has no movement on his pitches, he's more or less. Using smoke and mirrors, trying to get you out. So we know that he's going to run it up there in the early in the low nineties, but he can't locate his pitches He's done. So I think you know pretty pretty early tonight. Whether or not he's on over under nine. Yeah, well from is there facing Alcantar of our opening day who is very good against the Phillies? Lifetime? Also take the other. Well, unless it's a disaster of a game, but right was the total..

You'd in this age of a very heavy handed. heavy-handed. Omens. This is. This is up there is you know. I Ran, I said I actually don't disagree with them that we were GonNa get positive tests at some point just as such was the the nature of the model for the season, but even A ritual pessimist like myself. I'd I'd imagine it would be the severe this quickly. Yeah. An of trying to spin this positive way possible, and they've essentially said, well, this isn't surprising. We expected this to happen which in a way. Really, if you expect there to be outbreaks big enough to take out a team at one time, then maybe you shouldn't have even preceded with the season. In the first place. I almost feel more charitable towards them. If they had convinced themselves that this wouldn't happen that they could stop this. So evidently, they were banking on this happening and still went ahead with it, and the question is, can they prevent it in the future dodgers president? Stan Kasten came out in sort of spun this as a learning experience and hey, it happened. Happened early, and now we can learn from this and prevent it from happening again. But I think there's a lot of uncertainty about whether the fact that this came. So early means that, okay. We got this out of the way, and now we can revamp by protocols and we can change our behavior and we can prevent it from happening again or just wealth. It took a few. Few days for this to happen, and it's going to keep happening until every other team has caught the coronavirus and is baby temporarily resistant to it. So I think really it comes down to. Well, how did they get it and we don't know right now how this outbreak started, and in a way we might never know whether it was something to do with the players not. Not. Adhering. To the protocols or just the fact that there's coronavirus everywhere and the marlins are playing a hotspot although they weren't in one when they contracted the in fact, we don't know that this is part of the problem for not. Yeah. We usually period. So long right. They hadn't yet come home to play and they had tested negative throughout summer camp, but again, yes, we don't. Don't know exactly when this happened or how this happened and you can't. No, you can't completely prevent any possible vector for this. So if they're looking at it saying, well, we're serious now about these protocols, you know we were high fiving before, but now we're really not going to high five which by the way, it seems like people are still kind of congregating in thing but if If the only plan is like okay. Now, we'll actually stick to the measures that we were supposed to be sticking before that doesn't seem all that encouraging, and it seems like there's likely hood that this could keep happening and look how disruptive it's been. We have one team that has to take this whole week off, and if anything maybe to be responsible should probably be taking even. Even longer off, and then that signed that sort of side tracks, a handful of other teams because their opponents can't play or they have to reschedule other teams so that they can keep playing some in the interim, and again, that's just with one team having a big outbreak. So if you have multiple teams with clusters at the same time I'm not sure how you could continue. Because ben seems to have taken the fact that I emailed him a rundown for today's show as an invitation to read the entire rundown. Right off the top we're going to backtrack a little bit sorta. Take this point by point. Then get into those issues because if Ben, what you raised about did they expect this what? What does this mean going forward? What did they learn? Did they actually learn anything these are. There are almost no other issues which considering some of the other stuff that crack cropped up this weekend like I don't like saying that without if they don't solve this problem than nothing else really matters. So let's go through a quick time on will sort of take these the effects point-by-point. So marlins braves played an exhibition game last Wednesday before the season started tyler flowers and Travis Star. No. The braves too. Catchers were yanked from the lineup showing symptoms of for opening day by condolences to to ban on tyler flowers getting sick and by Sunday after the Marlins have play two games against the phillies. Four marlins players test positive including Jose Rainha. The scheduled starting pitcher they scratch those flyers on Sunday and decide to quarantine those players in a hotel Philadelphia by Tuesday as a numbers continue to roll in that number's up to fifteen players plus two others in the traveling party as of recording late Wednesday morning we don't have any more information about further test numbers from the Marlins or or from the phillies. So the MARLINS..

"Los Angeles, and this is reopening America. Baseball has been having a rough go as they began their sixty game season amid pandemic. MLB has caused a twenty twenty season for the Miami Marlins after an outbreak of cove in nineteen among players and staff. One big issue for them is the misalignment between the playing schedule, testing schedule and protocols for what happens in between. Louise Radnofsky sports reporter at the wall. Street Journal joins US for more. Thanks for joining US lease. Thank you for having me. Wanted to talk about baseball and the time of Corona virus. They just got their sixty game season underway and it's already run into a whole mess of problems. The Miami marlins season was paused by Major League Baseball amid an outbreak of cove in nineteen. I. Think they had fifteen players in two staff members of tested positive I. think it's been paused at least through Sunday. As of now, that could all change and you know we'll have to see if any more players. Marlins or any other teams that they might have come in contact with test positive. But this is kind of exposing a lot holes in their return to work strategy Louise. You wrote a story about how the scheduling is all off on everything. They're playing schedule the testing schedule in the protocols for what happens in between. Tell us about it. I think it's helpful to compare what's happening in baseball to something. But people have seen in action for a number of weeks now, which is the bubble model baseball's protocol or somewhat the opposite of the bubble. They're playing a very long season shorter than usual, but still very his. Relative to the one month that folks, for example, in the national, soccer league, we're in a bubble in UTAH. You're playing a lung season, the playing a lot of games in that season. Very close together. They're moving around a lot and they're also testing. They're not testing as frequently as folks inside the bubbler testing, which is every day in some cases using a laboratory. It's very close by that, they can drive the results to and get relatively quickly the are shipping instead of baseball. There results two labs and Salt Lake City or in new. Jersey? and. And it can take forty eight hours for results to come back. They're also testing every other day. So what you had in the case of the Marlins, and actually in the case of the Washington nationals on the ferry opening game of opening day is a situation in which you can have players going out onto the field without knowing what their status is at that time including the case of nationals knowing that one of their teammates hide tested positive test taking today's earlier, they learned the result of the morning of Thursday when opening day was you'd start. And what happens with all? This it makes is complicated contact tracing assignment for people especially, just going with the MARLINS situation, they've played already three cities, Miami Atlanta Philadelphia over the past ten days, and they have to go back to see where it all started. Having trouble is a scenario which somebody tests positive. You know relatively quickly, you can isolate them and what you've seen in the bubble is there have been some number of positive tests and the number four over time two zero. What you've seen in four days if baseball is the exact opposite, you learn two days later, somebody tested positive, and by that time, the team could be an entirely different city. The. Playing an entirely different team where the team that they've just played has gone on to play another team as well so that so making for a very troubling scenario, if you believe that the field is where transmission is occurring, even if it's not, then you've got a scenario where the clubhouses really come under particular scrutiny and neither scenario is good in some. Some ways. This outbreak being confined to one team is the better of two scenarios for baseball. You know in a sixty game schedule, how do you catch? There's already been a bunch of postponed games. The teams are GonNa. have to play multiple games in a day possibly or throughout the week or whatever. Can it become too unwieldy for MLB to catch up? and. Infectious Diseases standpoint. The important part of catching up is how you hope things in their tracks to stop them from spreading further. So I'll baseball is wandering things like how do you catch up with calendar? Question of how you catch up with the contact tracing and the testing schedule. Bowling. Forward, what's clear is what was being influenced? Marlins does give the folks who are working on the infectious disease side. Some opportunity to stop assess where people are at before they moved further, which just makes us an even harder. Get to pin down in terms of finding out who's infectious, and WHO's not before they have a chance to infect many other people. Obviously, the logistics are nightmare when it comes to something like this. So many games, obviously, the teams might be a little bit bigger than a NBA team. But why did they choose not to go with some type of bubble situation and size of the roster was a huge part of it. They didn't think that they could find the location or locations necessary that we're big enough to. To put all those people, you know closed system on top of that, they were looking at doing that for months as opposed to weeks, which is also a difficult thing to sustain for period of time, even with the cooperation of the people in the bubble and what they didn't have the cooperation because players didn't want to leave their families for months at a time to be Western. been any reaction from the marlins from Melby at large, just saying something more than just these pauses. What we heard from. MLB, is that they don't think that this is a terrible situation. In fact, specifically, the phrase used by the Commissioner on MLB network on Monday night was this is a nightmare scenario. They think the protocols that they have in place are effective and that they are doing what they need to do to keep players as safe as possible, which is not a standard of nobody gets infected. It's a standard of we believe we can. Can Control or limit outbreaks not necessarily even one teenager is a scenario. The physician Keam uses so many players to infection that they become non-competitive that t might have to drop out of competition, but they don't see a scenario which right now, this is going to lead to them shutting down the season, and they don't see that the protocols they presumably continue to intend to use. They're going to cause that kind of problem later in the season either. It was always going to be a crazy season. So we'll just have to keep monitoring and see what develops with the pandemic and these players, Louise, Radnofsky Sports, reporter for the Wall Street. Journal, thank you very much for joining us. "It's IT'S GONNA. Be It's GonNa be rough sledding in the first year post Tom Brady for the Patriots. But apple checks a guy that can get it done I? mean. He Got Matt Castle to eleven wins. So I could see it happening. I could see them still being okay. Even without some of these end, he has a former NFL MVP quarterback right now. So don't wow. The call the cabinet is not bear is what I'm saying people the People that sleep on Cam Newton Cam Newton's healthy he's he's easily top ten. At the quarterback position just from what he can do. Not, only throwing but being able to move the pocket able to be on the run it create with his feet. He's. It's bizarre that he's been sort of Sh- left off as a has been wary is right now. From our Philadelphia Eagles we just can't have speed at the receiver position. Sir. Wide Receiver Marcus Goodwin. I don't. Even when this happened during the draft I wasn't overly thrilled I. Don't necessarily know. How much more keys could was going to contribute on the offense to begin. Yeah Yeah it's fine and it's Jalen rigors now Sean Jackson Insurance Right bigger is. Never produced. Goodwin is at least had a season where he was really good. Sure. So I'm not overly concerned with that. And, and again, it's a decision. He I think he said it best. Like myself pursued myself with selfish she's selfish selfish decision making I am I can knock having strew. All. Seriously made, this is coming off vacation exhausted. At the moment, Greg that's where we're at here. But I think that it's it was one of those things where like families man and I think if more honestly I think if more people had that attitude we'd be we'd be in a little bit of a different situation as a whole great. But you know Seattle seahawks former Philadelphia Eagle chance womack. I didn't even realize he was still ply. Thank you wrap that up. Pretty nicely same going to go for the Tennessee Titans and offensive lineman Anthony mckinney no disrespect to Anthony mckinney. But we go to the higher risk opt-outs and You know we have the big free agent acquisition from the Minnesota Vikings. This year defensive tackle Michael Pierce. Yeah I mean that's The Vikings however still managed always put together a very solid defense. A he'll be a big piece. They're going to miss but I just. Like, that defense has been so formidable. They still have a tonic is there I think the the loss of fund digs is going to hurt the vikings a lot more than than this one. Pierce good football player though from the Washington football team. the underachieving Kayla Brantley. Diet. Agreed Guy you got off from the camp shoot Jordan Mac the panthers doesn't really mean a whole heck of lots. But from the Chicago bears another defensive tackle feel like we're seeing a trend there. Eddie, Goldman. I mean guys on the D. Liner you talk about higher risk guys but but those are guys that are going to be hitting somebody on every play like I don't blame any of these guys for for opting out the bears are also another team though that has a always seems it's just their nature always has that formidable defense is. Good I I understand that but I don't know if it's necessarily one guy that makes or breaks that defense outside of like. Eddie Jackson or Khalil Mack. As good as golden this. From the Browns drew Forbes and drake te door back door back I. Don't think we're worried about that Kyle Pico from the Broncos John Adkins from the lions. The chiefs is an interesting one running back Damien Williams opting out. Yeah. When I saw this I was I was a little bit surprised. I was in I don't necessarily think I was expecting that I mean listen I think that they're often too. So dynamic and they plug and play last year with running back so much and running back in the years round. Yeah and even the year before when they lost Kareem. Hunt. From for the Weird Hotel incident or whatever. They, they've always seemed to be able to adapt in those situations I. Think I think Andy's going to be perfectly fine being able to to draw up even without Damian. Why think what this means is that people need to target Clyde Edwards Hilaire very early in their fantasy drafts, he is going to put up monster numbers for this chiefs team you mentioned Chris Stop giving him a strategy. I mean is terrible and he was overdrafted. Full. Pick him in the first round I'll spin your feeds. From the Patriots we talk about Patrick Chung already the saints Jason, Vanderloop Kollwitz again, not super important from the jets Leo Coleman. Mo- Coal Matt Ten Idee, and we'll farewell sir. But from the New York football giants office of Lineman Nate Solder and salt you both solar and his young child of dealt with cancer. So this is. An obvious move for him but this could hurt you know of not the best player last year but he was the guy who was going to keep Andrew Thomas on the bright side of that that giants office of line. Yeah I think it's a big loss for the giants I mean obviously, it's the right decision if your shoulder but that that certainly makes makes that offensive line protecting Daniel Jones a lot weaker regardless of the level that that soldier play that last year or was going to play at this year it's it's certainly not good. If you're if you're thinking about keeping Daniel Jones uprise the double win for us because the guy keeps himself safe keeps himself healthy does the right thing for his family and the giants are weakened by Yeah can't cap him at that. Did. You know what's I mean we're talking about all these guys and we we touched on fantasy football a little bit i. do wonder how many people aren't going to play fantasy football this year because of it I, wonder how that affects the revenues of these companies and That host leagues, these sites that host leagues and how that's going to have a financial impact. That way like I know most of my leagues are still planning on trying to play and it adds a certain stipulation to to these to these leagues and how that's GonNa work in. Like I already had a suicide pool every year and the guy sent an email today we're not doing it this year. He's like there's too many variables I wouldn't feel right potentially trying to run it, and if the season gets canceled midway through then what do I do with all the money like this is trying to give that money, but it's it's it's crazy. No, that's. Entirely Fair, and there's a lot that still has to play out here lot there. We're going to find out in the coming weeks because you know we're GONNA by the time we talk next week guys will be training camp and I'm some guy's already trained cam so. It's Interesting to watch it as a progresses. Last thing. I. Got Forty Gregory to former Philadelphia. Eagles. Found new homes today LESEAN McCoy Attempt Buccaneer, Nigel Brandon New.

"Well, not just the players also you have to see where the umpires go next because the empire's going to games, the Vision as well so what game the empire is going to be doing because the UMPIRES are right on top of everyone just like everyone else's. And you're correct? in the way canceled not the word being used. It's a he's updated. This his tweet and said that tonight's game has been postponed. Remember canceling does canceling. You're not gonNA play these games any longer. Then all of a sudden there is a competitive disadvantage. Right of you're talking about right. How are you going to figure out that you've got ten? Ten teams and playoffs. No, we're going to sixteen teams remember. They decided that. What four hours before the season starts. You pretty much have to have everybody play the same amount of game, so that game postponed then right, so you're going to move back to calendar. These are the questions that are being worked through major. League baseball right now and Katie to your point. I think what Jeff Passan's said was interesting saying I. think that all the League's went to have some parameters, but they did not want to have these guard rails, which did not allow them flexibility which I totally understand what get totally right. I mean that makes sense. You don't WanNa. Box Yourself in and you WANNA. Take something case by case. But now this is what you deal with is hey. Do we have a game plan that if one team has an outbreak of more than let's say four or five players, which the Miami Marlins have now clearly had. Would, you do because this is not a situation. Where okay I'M GONNA. I found out that we're going to take a test. Rapid Fire Tests fifteen minutes right now. Does! That mean that you got it last night. Are you going to test positive? Let's say that you had a player on the phillies that you know. was playing against the marlins yesterday. Let's say he got it somehow wrecked if he tested positive two hours after quote unquote getting it to test positive I. He does, and that's I've had many conversations with health experts on this here. Locally symptoms present themselves after coming in contact with somebody anywhere from two to fourteen days. That's why they advise. If you come in contact with somebody, you need to quarantine for fourteen days. If you travel outside of your state limits. Whatever New York being one. You need to quarantine for fourteen days the average person they are finding. Finding Pete five to seven days after coming into contact with somebody with covert. If you actually are infected and you are going to be symptomatic, it takes five to seven days for those symptoms to show themselves, so some of these guys might be testing negative, but they actually are infected and we won't know that for five more days. That's the crazy part about all of this and that's for me. How it's frustrating and hard to wrap your head around. What's the Best Plan of action moving forward for Rob Manfred in this league because I agree, I don't want to be alarmist and the fact. Cancel it all like this. It's out of control. No, I think it's definitely salvageable, but you have to be really really smart right now with how you manage this situation and quarantine people before moving forward bill. Another thing you need to consider is okay, so they cancelled the game today for the Phillies the Yankees the marlins right, but this isn't a situation, the marlins it's going to be resolved within two weeks right so you're gonNa have to have all these minor league players come up, so then you have to start questioning well. What kind of competitive advantages this doing all the teams are going. Going to be playing in the National League East. And how is that going to benefit them? When you're playing minor-league players right because you have expanded playoffs, so I guess that makes up for some bit, but you can have teams in the nationally. That'll miss out on the playoffs because the National League East now has been playing an easier schedule because you've had a whole team essentially out. An essence in what you just talked about. Billy is kind of how people feel about college football. When you look at some teams like in the ACC were clemson is so good and everybody else, and they have nobody else in their conference. As any any any decent, you're like. Yeah, but Clinton doesn't have the same path at an Alabama has. But of course this is completely different, because now you're talking about taking players off and WanNa. Go bigger picture here if we're talking about Major League Baseball, they don't have a bubble. Okay! The NFL is getting ready to wade into the same exact waters now. Bile into its purpose. You've got major. League Baseball, a little bit more social distanced Katie. George then the NFL, every single play, but yet you should not to have a bubble. You're going to have teams traveling as well to. How does this change your idea? What happens with the NFL and even college football to matter? It's all anthony. Rizzo give hand sanitizer. Base runner which I like laugh like. Wow, that's the new normal you know. We always say like Oh. This is the new normal and Anthony Rizzo was like handing out hand sanitizer to people who is standing next to him, which I thought was actually clever and smart and funny bit. But to your point, that's the closest in proximity. People get to one another and baseball. Football your face to face on the line. You're tackling people I mean you're all over each other like to me. It's not feasible to think. That if somebody gets it on your locker room that it's not gonNA spread like wildfire, and so I wish that the MLB and the NFL thought more seriously about bubble concepts I know it's different. Because the NBA had eighty percent of their regular season already played, and they had the regional TV money right in their hand. It's different because the MLB NFL hadn't started yet, but I just wish that. It was looked at with more seriousness because I think that although it's not risk free. Free you don't have the travel aspect of it and you don't have the uncontrollable factors of players leaving facilities and ballparks, and going to their homes that to me is the most unsettling part of this whole thing. You can follow her on twitter. Katie Underscore George Oh five myself at Peter Burns. ESPN will talk to George. Sodano todd zeal a little bit later Ramona Shelburne as well talk about the Louisville situation, but right now you better get your draftkings lineups in while you can. Wherever they all shuts down that that shoe to celebrate the return of basketball.

"This. This is the nightmare scenario number one give everyone a sense of what you'll be looking into I am yes on Kerch and I'm sorry, Allie would you say that again in my ear? Yes, our Karl, thank you very much I'm told. Tim Kirch standing by here. Timmy I will give you the floor. You've heard this story here again. The marlins game at home tonight has been canceled. It feels as though a lot of things hanging in the Balance Tim coaching. What is your reaction? Well this was the big concern. Greedy greeting from the start is what if one team has ten guys or twenty guys test positive. What do we do? We cancel their season. We take a pause in the season. We cancel the entire season. How much damage already been done and all I can say is we have to put the health and safety protocols? I, hear and I think baseball's a good. Good job of that, but yesterday was a gigantic red flag, and an even bigger one today so again I don't WanNa, put you in a position to speculate here, but let's just consider the notion that the Yankees are supposed to play in Philadelphia today again. That is where the Marlins were the road team yesterday very quickly. What is your expectation relative to that game and other Games being played today? Well I would be worried if I were the Yankees going into Philadelphia the players that I've talked to are worried about that first road trip. They've had the safety of their bubble at their stadium. Now they're going somewhere else. That's where the concern lies. Timmy thank you very much for jumping in here. Obviously, you'll be working the story all morning long and the coverage will continue here on ESPN next I take coming up further reaction to this breaking news again. The Miami Marlins have fourteen members of their team test positive..

"Yeah head coaches and are all facilities today I've been trying to take some of them to try to get an idea and they are already back that they're watching the news here. Break as Jeff Passan's putting the word out about what's happening with the with the Marlins here and Greenie. You asked me weeks ago about the idea of a bubble and I told you that it was discussed for about a millisecond. It was something that the NFL did not want to do. They did not think it could work there, too. Many teams in too much that would have to be part of this to make that work so. Obviously now we're watching this with baseball and the idea of them. Not being a bubble could perhaps be the reason why the season doesn't continue. We obviously don't know that just yet. But greedy as you guys were talking about it. I just kept thinking. Baseball is probably the least physical sport in terms of contact. Football is the opposite. How are they going to be able to keep these players safe in everyone? I spoke to with the Players Association and even in the League. Have told me that they're going. Going to be vigilant about testing that is why the players fought so hard for that Deli testing and I'm sure you've read tons of articles where there's been access all around the league allowing reports to see with these facilities or like players, saying that these are some of the cleanest. They've ever seen. Patrick Mahomes says he was blown away with what Kansas City has done with their facility, and how they're wearing masks and how they have the meeting room set up the locker room set up so in. In terms of them being a location, it sounds like there's control here with the NFL, but again with his virus. We just don't know and they're also not on location twenty four seven the NBA again. They're in a bubble. I can't sit here and tell anyone. They should live their lives in a bubble. They should have gone into it in Major League Baseball. It's their life to live. It's not mine, but the idea because they're not in a facility twenty four hours a day. You're going out to pick. Pick up food. You're going grocery shopping. These teams are getting on airplanes and flying places so the idea that this this should not come as a surprise to anyone that this has happened here. This quickly and I do not think it is overstating it to say that. The entirety of the major league baseball season is precariously hanging in the balance, and we're not even a week into it. If one Major League Baseball team has to shut it down for a significant period of time Jeff Saturday what's your reaction? I'm with you, Greenie there's no surprise here and without being in a bubble. There's no way to stop something like this. I mean you'd think about when you go back home and your kids. We started schools and we'll school. Start back, and and all the different things that happen at homes with your with your spouses. Significant others family members all at your home. To your point, there's there's no way to keep everybody completely clean and antiseptic, like you can edit facility, and they had done a fantastic job at facilities, but we know in the in the in the travel, the requirements all those things. It's very difficult. EPIC. The largest conversation will be how you manage this. How how do you manage to the marlins manager? But how as the NFL? Now that you're seeing this happen with the MARLINS. How do you manage what what kind of coverage your happening now? If this were to happen on a football team, and and you know so from the NFL's perspective, one thing I. would say is having the week in between a little bit different. You heard in the last segment talking about a guy or a team coming in playing in the locker room at age issues yesterday so I think some. Some of those things was be scaled back, but there's no way to prevent this. If you're not in a bubble to your point as I think it's, it's all about. How can you respond to the situation? And how do you make? Players feel comfortable about their health and safety and the health and safety of their families. They're going back to I. CAn't stress that enough that the Miami Marlins. They're concerned not only is for themselves. It's when they go back home back to their families. What are they bringing back? The very very serious conversations are going to have to be had. Unfortunately the MARLINS are sparking this, but these are discussions that will have to take Burger. Athletes are athletes and so trying to put yourself gestures referenced it. The marlins played in Philadelphia yesterday. The Yankees are supposed to play their today. If you were a member of the New York Yankees. Are you comfortable going into that clubhouse showering their dressing? They're doing all of the things that you do when we know that the Marlins have had fourteen people to twelve players and two coaches to the ED minimum to have tested positive so far. Absolutely not grainy and more importantly, not only the locker room I'm not willing to get on the field with the phillies knowing that they faced the marlins. For several games. I just think that for this situation to happen. You guys are right. We knew something like this was coming. What we don't know is how MLB is going to handle. I think that's what's at stake right now I think college football, I think NFL football I think all the sports that are getting underway now or later in the fall are going to watch how major league baseball handles this and green and more importantly, these are professionals, I think college football is really paying very very close particularly to this decision. We've already had a couple of football teams Michigan. State and I believe rutgers have quarantined their entire. Entire football team for fourteen days now. That's easy to do in late July up. Are you willing to do that? In late August early September when the game starts to happen I, think this is a pivotal moment for sports, particularly college football when you dealing with amateur athletes, I think everyone around the country is paying attention. How does Major League? Baseball handily? We knew or we can say. We knew it was coming. What we don't know is how rob Manfred. How the Players Union Tony Clark Howard going forward is going to handle this situation. I think that's what's at stake. The NFL kept playing a bubble. They said they. They don't WanNa do that. It's just logistically entirely too challenging, so the NFL is going to deal with similar things, but again those are professionals I think the amateur athletes in the NCWA are the ones that have to pay close attention to what MLB does twelve here guys..

We're talking about it and then Lou. Will. What are you doing? Here what this star was doing outside the NBA bubble. You will in this hour as we'd get up with you starting right now, and it begins with this developing story for Miami marlins players have tested positive for the coronavirus including pitcher Jose arena. Who was supposed to start yesterday in Philadelphia. The marlins have delayed their trip home. From Philly amid concerns about a possible outbreak. This opposed to play at home tonight. Here's their manager, Don Mattingly Share to say that guys are concerned about things. that. They want their feelings as art of other feeling about it situations. To be heard. And think it's fair talking about else talking about these guys traveling back. To their homes and their families and their kids in the reason we WANNA be safe. Again. They spent the night in Philadelphia yesterday. They're supposed to play in Miami tonight. Our insider Jeff Passan has been working the story like crazy all morning long, Jeff, what is the latest? Yeah Greenie. I'm getting all kinds of TEX right now. My apologies because this Marlin situation is very fluid and not fluid in a good way with the outbreak of four cases for known cases at this point in the clubhouse. There's a chance that their flight could be canceled today that they may not make it down to their home. I've been told by sources that they are getting tested again players this morning, and to determine the true extent of this outbreak, and just how many people inside of the Marlins clubhouse have it? This is going to be a test, not just for the organization, but for Major League baseball to figure out how much it can withstand in how willing it is to continue, if the outbreak is indeed larger than four people not listen Jeff, I I did a bunch of shows last weekend at the date of the baseball season started, and every single person I talked to ask the same question. How has Has Major League Baseball, going to be able to conduct a season when they have teams travelling around. They're not in a bubble like the NBA is. These guys are living in their own homes in their own communities, for the Marlins are in Florida where we all know what the numbers have been there, and and and we wondered it brings me back to the questions that we raised about the bubble cities when all this began remind everyone when the conversations about the possibility of the baseball season being in bubble cities as they've done in the NBA, I came up. How did that go away in baseball? Green very early on in the process Major. League baseball was talking with officials from the federal government about the possibility of holding a bubble city in Arizona in the Greater Phoenix area, and we know the outbreak that has happened there since then, but at the time it seemed like a reasonable and viable idea I wrote a story about this. And when that story was written, the reaction from the players was clear no way we want no business with spending. Spending five months in Phoenix potentially separated from our families with no guarantee that this is going to work, but the consequence of that is that they are traveling now. In the consequence of traveling, Greenie is the number of points of contact that players have with flight attendants with hotel workers with people throughout the stadium. I mean everywhere. It just adds up and makes it that much more of a difficult situation to ensure that everybody can stay healthy exactly one. The only fear is that you hope it's not just difficult, but it's not impossible at this point. We wouldn't have been anywhere near five months anymore. That's all water under the bridge I know. You're working the story like crazy we will. We will come back to you immediately if he gets any further information again. The MARLINS have a game in Miami, tonight. Tonight. They are currently in Philadelphia now. Let's get back to the NFL on the enormous trade from the weekend according to our Adam Schefter Jamal. Adams is flying to Seattle today to undergo his physical after being traded from the jets package includes safety. Bradley McDougal in two first round picks since he was drafted twenty seventeen out of lsu Adams basically done it. It, all on the defense is considered a safety, but he's actually add more snaps at linebacker and D. Line combined, and just to show his versatility as over five hundred snaps at corner as well so this is a guy who has done everything. We've been talking about it this morning. And the collection of people have put together to try and make me feel a little better about it. This morning includes Booger, McFarland, Jeff Saturday and Diana receiving. There's been a lot of argument here and that's because I'm in no mood to try Tampa Down Diana will start with you. Let's let's hear again. What is it? You heard from people around the league about their reaction to this deal after it was done. Well there's no question Jamal. Adams has the respect from many coaches. GM's even players I talked to. Everyone can pretty much agree. He's top three best defensive player in this league. Right Najim on has done a great job and he's a great job in that Greg Williams scheme. I know we're GONNA. Be Talking about Blitzer. I'm sure Jeff Point to that and booger will as well that he is a Swiss army knife, but in terms of the. The, actual trade, and what the jets were able to get from Seattle here I had GM. Tell me that they feel like they got least here so in in terms of the value here. It very clear that this team is trying to rebuild the Legion of boom. As well as having this attitude, we must win now weaker. We're to talk about the age of Russell Wilson at thirty two years old and we'll say he's getting older. We're seeing now that quarterbacks are playing later into their age, but that being said he's still not as young as he was when he was in his twenties, and he's still not getting that same protection show in terms of the actual deal. Is this the piece that makes them? The leaders in the NFC the sense. I'm getting around the league that this is not enough for Seattle to win that Division Jeff..

"It was going on there that made it go so fast. There's no commercial breaks, but they do have warm up in between innings. So then I was trying while I was there like in the press box by. Myself going through like, well, how can people? No. I mean, Joe for Sar was in the corner. Kind of holding court like everybody seemed to look up to him and be talking to him. I was just kind of kept to myself. I talked to a couple of guys in the back. And some photographers and stuff. But are you a celebrity when he go to a Marlins game? No, Greg Mitch made. It seem like it makes it seems like it's a it's a venue showing up to a Marlin in a formal capacity while he was trying to embarrass me, by the way, Peter O'Brien who was hitting point eighty seven going into it or and slam only got five RV is he was putting average went up to one fifty four Peter O'Brien will probably going to be the the right fielder. But it hasn't been a good spring. He was at the Gulf thing we went to a few when they re like so he played towards the end of last season. And he is he's a local kid you from highly a- and Peter O'Brien's. I no hitter O'Brien. Mumps Cuban his dad is Brian and yeah, they tried to use them like in the rollout. But he's not had a great spring. But he had a good day real quick before we go to break. What is the Billy Billy gills Marlins experts opinion going to be your opening day lineup for the Miami Marlins. Let me see if I've heard of any of these. Peter O'Brien is someone I've heard all right. So it depends on who's pitching against the Moreland. They'd have to look who's starting because Curtis Granderson is going to be playing in a platoon role. And I don't think that he's going to be facing, many lefties. So if it's a righty pitching. Let's just all righty. Then I'd say Granderson in left field Brindisi center. Peter o'brien. And right. First base is a good question. Let's just say. Have Neil Walker there for now Starling castrates second at shortstop. I can't believe sterling Castro's still here weren't they trying to train them immediately quired him. Yeah. While he's here shortstop, let's say I'm gonna put JT riddle there. Even though it's back and forth between him and go row. Hus- not one hundred percent sure on that. Then Brian Anderson at third that's the that's a highly touted, dude, right? Brian Anderson's a guy that used to take a next step? He is. Yeah. I mean, whatever he'll probably be are also this year. I found a projected lineup on Twitter. Okay. Billy seems to be right with all the starters. The lineup would be batting Faro Faro be catching obviously, he's gonna he believes going to get a couple. He's gonna get some more action. Even though he is a bit of an injury is gonna get some more action before opening day. And then the starting pitcher on opening day will be Ranya and the lineup. They have is granted I Lewis Brinson. Second Starling Castro. Third. Put your best center. Second. Brian Anderson fourth Peter. O'brien fifth or hail farro six. Neil walker. Seventh JT riddle eighth assume can challenge for maybe thirty six wins on the sounds of it. Yeah. It's not a very good sounding team guys. I admitted lands a lot of players names. But this one I'm pretty sure he made up half of these. It's gonna be a struggle might be a bright spot. But just score some runs. I mean, clearly if Chen can crack this the starting rotation we're got to find a diamond in the rough. And who is that diamond in the rough is a Peter O'Brien from high Fara could be that. Okay. Sure. All right. Well, look good. No. I was I was opportunity has gone way too long. It's spring ball. I'm trying to get excited for Marlins baseball. And I think the opposite happened, although I found out that this is a guy named Peter O'Brien that's from Hialeah, which is the second most shocking highly effect that I learned since last week when I found out Vincent and Africa was from highly. Tuck -nology truth.

"I'll make a our show with stugatz on the ticket oh free jim morris university of miami baseball coach for twenty three seasons about to call it a career and he was to gods in the middle of what i believe to be one of the most crushing losses i've ever seen in sports and i just saw a replay of it this morning where there was a guy on third they're playing for the national championship there in the final game they're winning by a run lsu has a runner on third with one out um has its big closer with its his big curve ball on the mound and he strikes out lsu's big hitter to get the second out without a sack flyer without the ball being put in play and then warren morris who hadn't played most of the season was broken and was pretty clearly going to make an out to end the season yikes pitch into the rightfield seats to end miami season and such a shocking fashion that as warren morris rounded third base he nearly had to step over the third baseman who was simply on his stomach with his face against the ground and he's shortstop was on his back behind like the third basement just fell like fell four into way a dead man would if like in a movie shot from behind right the way the guy fell in the childish gambino video like just fell forward onto his face third basement you got warren moore's crossing home plate and he's running past the third baseman who's on his stomach and a shortstop who's on his back and this part made me laugh.
