NFL Says Each Team Must Hire Minority Offensive Coach
"You got to hear this package. From ABC News. And the NFL has announced new rules to guarantee more opportunities for minorities and women. This comes after former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the league and three of its teams for racial discrimination. Trevor alt has more from outside NFL headquarters in New York. Hi, Trevor. Diane, these are really big changes from the NFL as the league has been facing increasing scrutiny and pressure from a lot of people who say they're minority initiatives simply were not doing enough and so beginning this upcoming season, all 32 NFL teams will be required to hire a minority or woman in a prominent offensive coaching position. The goal is to then create more highly sought after a head coaching minority candidates and then ultimately some more minority head coaches, which a lot of people say, there's simply not enough of those right now. This is a substantial expansion of what's called the Rooney rule, which up till now has only required teams to interview one minority candidate before they hired a new head coach. This is also the first time that women have been included. And of course, this change comes as the league is facing a lawsuit from former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, alleging discrimination in the league's hiring practices, though the league denies those allegations. So I want to get this straight. This black coach feels he got passed over because I guess he's black. Think about that. Let that sink in.
Brian Flores Files Discrimination Lawsuit Against NFL
"Most interesting story of the afternoon was Brian Flores. Late last afternoon on the West Coast. It's early evening on the east coast. I'm starting to do my show prep, and I see Brian Flores, who was head coach of the Miami Dolphins for a couple of years, has just unloaded on the NFL. Alleging discrimination against black coaches. And he shot at the NFL and his complaint, and he hit it, but he really took out Bill Belichick. Because Bill Belichick thought he was texting somebody other than Brian Flores. And he was texting, I think Brian did all telling him. Hey, the fix is in. Don't worry, there's the paraphrase I don't have in front of me. Don't worry, Brian, you've got this job, you're gonna get this job. They told me you've got the job. Good for you. You're gonna do great with a giant Brian Florence was in the about to head off to interview at New York Giants land. He had to go through a charade because of the Rooney rule. The Rooney rule requires that you hire at least one African American. You interview at least one African American for every opening for GM and head coach. I think that's the Rooney rule. Now the browns have actually lived by the Rooney rule. They had Hugh Jackson as their head coach. They got the amazing Andrew Barry, who's maybe the best GM in football, both black men who are great professionals. You didn't do so well. But but you can't pretend. And I think Brian Flores, we've got to payday

"The problem is is that they're dear. Drafting has just been horrendous. You know you. You don't necessarily look at a guy like waddell and say well. He wasn't a bad draft pick. You know he. He was a pretty solid draft. Pick you look at the guys that we could have had and should have had. Yeah and that's what you have to look at. I mean we're not we're not trying to get down out on a guy like waddell or a guy like phillips but the bottom line is there. Were better players there when we i mean. There was different circumstances and better opportunities for us to have some impact players. And he doesn't have any to work with the dozen. We got sold that line that we wanted waddle all along right remember that and and and the guy says that's worth actually thought waddell was going to be a better player than chasing pits. Then you don't understand player personnel as to call watch football game your entire life guy. How much input do you think. Flora's has in the personnel decisions. I think he is solely responsible for cutting players from the team. Yep that's all those people that have been cut and gone elsewhere and been successful. It's a sign of bad coaching for two reasons. One flow didn't understand the talent level. Well enough or You know whatever in order to cut them in into if they were truly performing that bad and then immediately i don't mean like a year later started doing better went somewhere else and immediately started playing at a higher level got three linemen then coaching. It's coaching it's coaching. Also i mean. Did it come down the money would some of these offensive line with flowers. Flowers case flowers in the flowers that me save a million bucks right. I mean he's not even because we had to pay washington for him to go back there to mention that we did that for tannahill. That's the you know I attended hill had seven year run. We were already for him to go our team. 'cause i the team on his back still you know. He's excelling because he has a lot of talent henry henry. He's got a good offensive line. He's got good wide receiver. He's got good coaching everything. But let me address. A loose got good question. As far as what is floor responsible for. I think the certain picks think greer is a guy that likes to collaborate. You know and work with people. Gm should yeah. But i mean you wanna lineup. Who you're picking with the scheme. Coaching said i gotta pick ingredients that i'm going to cook with or whatever you know. I understand that but scott go ahead. I'll let you just wanna. I just wanna finish a quick a quick thought on that. I think there's certain people that have his name all over it nor no for example and tight ends some damn reason why they're some fascination with these tight ends we keep signing anybody who's a tight end and i mean i sometimes i you know i don't know i love perpetuating jokes i love it. I saw a joke that someone. I can't even remember who you know at some point and not that one okay and I know and it was like superhero hands pressing one button or the other button in a gif and somebody put that you know. Put the dolphins logo on it and then said you know one button said tide and the other one said quarterback..
Brady's 5 TD passes to pace Bucs' 47-15 rout of Dolphins
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers used a high powered offense and lots of defensive pressure to defeat the Miami Dolphins forty five to seventeen Tom Brady completed passes to ten different receivers including two touchdown strikes to Antonio brown and Mike Evans and one to Giovanni Bernard bank try to spread around everybody in here can make some plays Jimmy plays the backs me plays in the pass game I needed I was on the receivers did that's what we're going to keep doing what I keep spin around the books injury riddled defense rose to the challenge with three sacks a forced fumble and an interception Miami quarterback Jacoby Brissett pass for two hundred seventy five yards and two touchdowns but much of that was early in the game before the bucs defense settled in I'm Tom Aikens

"As a guard guard and his pass blocking came in at eighty. One point eight so we cut a guy because quote unquote was better younger. Players right and this guy is continuing to prove that he's better than any offensive linemen that we have by by leave on the by leaps and bounds by leaves front office or is that flow and coaching. I don't know what it is. But w t f wti f. Yeah it makes no sense and then we were playing against another guy. Aluminum yeah He was successful against us. And let's look at him hit. He's rated thirty ninth against you. Know pretty pretty high. But his pass blocking came in at seventy three point seven still higher solomon kinley at forty two point eight. You know. I mean it's or who else you know. I mean hunt hunt actually pretty good at sixty. But you know he's he was. These two guys were far superior far superior and we got him got rid of them. Yeah we they weren't good enough to make our the interest of improvement. I don't you know there's something wrong either. Coaching something wrong. Obviously with our talent evaluation front office. I mean we are just getting guys in here. We don't recognize him. We cut people lose. That are succeeding someplace else. Not like they developed or they started as a backup and then came in and whatever they go somewhere else in immediately succeed i saw a guy that is a problem people. I saw a guy with a twitter said. Miami dolphins great players on other teams. It's just getting it's getting you know it's ouch ouch..
Miami Dolphins WR Will Fuller to Miss Buffalo Bills Game With Personal Issue
"Breaking news out of miami gardens. The miami dolphins will be without wide receiver willful or for sunday's matchup versus the buffalo bills. The team is calling it. A personal issue and brian flora's even when as far to say there was a possibility for may not suit up the rest of the season. Obviously a lot of unknowns. But what were your thoughts. Jake when you first heard this friday afternoon. Josh first and foremost i mean the seed blake first weekend forever where the dolphins were gonna have a completely clean injury report willful or was the only one who wasn't listed as a full participant in practice on both thursday and friday. But just i do have to say. I think we're kind of over-reacting about this. A little bit will fuller was in the building wednesday. I believe he was actually in the building thursday as well. I'm concerned for some things are bigger than football. I don't necessarily know. I mean ryan floors declined to say preston. Williams who is fully active is going to be playing on sunday. So i think that's more displays being bryant floors as much as odd. This is something that's gonna completely ruin season. I hope that isn't the case. I hope everything is all right for him and you know. We can't really speculate on too much by terms of what's happening on the field. It's gotta be a little disappointing to not see him out

"Seventy two the the perfect season he had fifteen receptions for one hundred sixty eight yards. That was his best season. Ever fifteen fifteen okay. That's not even comparison. Then we had a great running back there. We gave away while. I'm just going through our best running backs over i did. I started looking up. The guys that i would say are the best. Yeah ricky williams gonna throw to him a lot forty seven receptions gang for three hundred sixty three yards not that much yardage exactly one td. I had to look at song. All right twenty twenty one receptions in one thousand sixty nine so before shula gets there for one hundred and eighteen yard. Shula said we're not going to be throwing you the ball much song. And then the best receiving running back in the history of miami dolphins is tony nathan nathan. I knew what. I knew what i knew it. I knew it was an one cool thing about him. Anywhere would kick myself too. So kicking here comes alabama. But tony had some great numbers. Okay but Nine thousand nine hundred eighty five. Tony had seventy two receptions for cigarettes fifty one year that was just so remember that be out. I think asking is gonna really challenge that and break does. That's it's going to be tough. It's gonna be a lot of receptions. But i think gaskin in seventeen games okay. Do you think asking we'll place everything games. Yes you must think that. If you think i do i do not. I think he will get hurt. i think there's a high possibility that anybody gets hurt in this and this thing But when you look at this Just looking critically. That's four receptions. A little bit over four receptions again so what. I think he's going to do it. I mean i think in one drive. He's going to catch three here. The right dr. They easily done. I see us doing that a lot. Because look our team runs really passes to set up the run running team. Okay we're just not going to be running. We love ahmed on the wheel. Route around in gaskin catches the ball. Well she does prediction. I think gaskin will break the all time. Receiving record water will break the all time receiving rookie record receiving record. I meant gaskin running back receiver. Sanders will break the points points. Here's come see interesting one. You got another one. I thought he only had three..

"Big plays in recent years and and this year gives us enormous potential for that. So that's our season prediction in terms of record hondo throughout some ideas I thought he was going to be part of this episode. But it didn't work out that way but at we'll we'll take the ideas Who will be the standouts of the team will will any new records be set this year. What do you think well. I really looked at this Quite a bit scott. And i have a prediction of three to four gut records. That i think are going to be Shattered this year miami dolphins all-time record all time record and i got a super interesting start with the easiest. Dick your neck out my man This is so easy. The first one is a no brainer. Okay are kicking kicking record scoring you. Know for field goals and extra point Linda mar mari the local kid in one thousand nine thousand nine hundred forty four points yep sanders came with one hundred and forty four last year to tire. I think sanders will go well over one fifty. I think so too because our offense is going to be scoring more..

"But here's here's from. Today's practice of preston williams. This is why we can always return for and again. Why not as that. Be a shocker. But says Williams was limited at practice again This was reported a by. Espn working his way. Back from last year's season injury. He was removed from the public and august. The nineteenth played a little bit in a preseason game but again he's not really practicing all right so i mean we don't quite get it with who you're protected. I don't get it because if a guy like williams is having all the issues that he has you wanna protect a wide receiver. That can make a difference. And that's that's a little bit concerning a little bit. I'm with you all right. Let's move on from that topic. And and and briefly say that today team captains for the dolphins were named and many other teams as well Throughout the nfl there were five or six teams. I forget exactly. That did not announce them today. So they're still a few that are unknown but of the ones that announce them only to do not have a quarterback as a team. Captain what do you think about that. Alex i think one team makes a lot of sense and the other one does not and it's quite simple. The two teams is The patriots and us and the patriots have a rookie that has not established himself. that has done absolutely. Nothing was not a high draft pick..
Dolphin's Coach Brian Flores: We Want Players With 'High Character' on the Team
"Is from a threat over the weekend from charles robinson who said sources telling yahoo sports. The dolphins have emerged as the front runner in trade. Discussions with texans quarterback shawn watson. The texans are seeking three first round picks in two second round picks in negotiations according to a team that dropped out of the trade talks robinson saying sources the panthers broncos and eagles also in some element of trade considerations. Watson's contractual right to approve. The trade destination was signed off on by a houston ownership in his last extension has weighed heavily in the trade opportunities. Sources said that teams have angled for pick protections in any trade to mitigate a potential nfl suspension or criminal prosecution tied to ongoing investigations by the fbi harris county prosecutor and houston pd into sexual assault allegations from multiple women. Now this tweet is in direct retaliation or a result of what was said publicly by the dolphins and brian florez when he was asked yesterday about the trade speculation for dishonor watson and brian. Flora's said quote that they are only interested in high character. players floors. Didn't specifically talk about watson but discuss the dolphins philosophy and acquiring players who need a fresh start. Flora's said quote. There are a lot of things way when we're making decisions fit on the team overall talent salary cap when we're talking about a player or players were always trying to do. What's best for the miami dolphins. There are a lot of variables we want. We want a group that is tough. Smart competitive loves to play in his team. I those other types of guys we're looking for. We have a high standard for the people we have in the organization. We want people with high character throughout the building.
Tagovailoa Sharp in Dolphins' 37-17 Win Over Falcons
"Lots to talk about after a thirty seven. Seventeen complete win over. The atlanta falcons at home. But before we're getting all of that the world wants to know. How are you doing today. Jake josh said it. Best victory monday. It has to be what six seven months since. We've had a feeling like this. Which i don't necessarily mean the wind because of course that doesn't mean too much as i was saying before the show. The patriots pay a few days before the dolphins i believe was against the eagles as watching them. Do not wrong. I mean he had third and fourth string players running back specifically just kind of taking whatever they wanted to absolutely running eagles. I thought man you know. Could you imagine having your feet up watching a complete game just team absolutely just kind of pack up the opponent. worthy better team on any day. And that's josh kind of with. The dolphins did on sunday started with that on saturday already to warmed up for the regular season but it started with Your boy there to lead that offense made it was incredible to watch. I actually had a big smile. Basting how it seemed like bank group that first team offense just could not do anything wrong

"I mean three touchdowns can't be ignored. He got three touchdown passes to today. Against the falcons not against our defense. That's very the falcons are are discussing things very well for according to everybody that seen him to have a very different attitude and yet we burn them with shaheen so the i think our biggest question is we have a full running back room like you said and who's going to make the team We know for sure the top five guys you know who they are. I was convinced that we were on the day that the contract flipped for grant. And we're going to cut him because he's a big salary and all that money could go towards alignment or some other greater. Need not our. We thought our go to howard to supplement him. Yeah something else. Slide away man big props greer for really cutting a great deal with howard. Yeah i mean as a win win deal it is. I didn't like this shit. I mean i know. They talked after the season. We're going to renegotiate god. I just don't wanna go through this again. But i understand. I understand that they basically said if you can if you can stay healthy contribute. Yeah if you expect them to. Today i saw that tweet. that said What's his name near smoked x. for touchdown. Oh yeah yeah the from miami riley riley. Yeah and i said you guys don't understand. This is x. playing chess. He's baiting them into thinking that they can burn it for a touchdown and then during the actual game he's gonna get the pick a. I'm not concerned. I'm not concerned about him at all. zero. He's going to be good he's going to be out. There is going to perform It's going to help our defense. Our defense our to be top. Three in our office needs to be top fifteen for us after successful season. That's simplisafe that's a simple as get our office needs to contribute and i think our office will has to do better than last year. I think they will. I really believe we will. Let's be arizona offense not the denver. Yeah yeah i mean overall we do look so much that very much came down to the line and the blocking so and that's gonna be the same thing could not get comfortable back there beating him up in his face and yup and if we're the same thing happens we're going to see some really lousy games this year. One thing about brown is that he's known as a very good blocker. Well so maybe that's route comes in. Yeah we keep them back there to save two from being killed. Whatever works man. I mean you know if we exit with ws it's all good That's all that's all. I just just like mr david say upright with the w. yes when baby probably of the greatest lines ever really was Yeah so overall. I if we go back to our to our picks here i think our right. We see rumors is super exciting. The way it's gonna it's coming out I've never seen scott the speed that we have out there. I mean just. I can't i. I really wish. I would have seen fuller that speed that that. That water showed wilson showed. I've never seen it never seen guys with so much quickness that we have yeah i think we're we're in for some special plays this year..

It's also worth mentioning these play week. One the two teams that were doing today. Miami at new england new england's a two and a half point favorites totals forty five. I would like to talk about that game for sure as part of things that i would like to bet on my problem with miami is trying to figure out when you have a really limited sample of what a coaches and like what kind of culture of an organization is with that coach or if it's coach quarterback like in tandem basically trying to figure out what that is when you only have one year and the year was very good is extremely difficult right so like miami's particular last year there. Pythagorean expectation was nine point seven They played a relatively easy schedule but they were also led the league and takeaways and there are some teams. Were that actually can be a consistent thing belch patriots flora's coming from that tree valid patriots like top ten and takeaways literally every single year. That was a repeatable outcome. The sean mcdermott bills have proven inability year after year to do that. Almost every other team does not proven ability to do that. So you're asking yourself. Is this what they are. Or is this like a fluke crazy great outcome for them that is going to come back to earth and we don't know the answer and no one does. We're just trying to guess basically because we don't have enough years of of a sample to make a judgment on. So i think that makes it tough to bet on like what is what is this team really. And i think we have the same problem with the patriots. I i have like week one bets. I have some other kinds of stuff to go through one particular. I'll go through them and you can kinda give out some of your season-long if you want if you do like the dolphins and nick does..

"At least for vacation back god just back i i listen when you say coffin of my own design. This is what's funny and the self interest around here is funny greg cody. This just happened during the break. Greg cody is roaring with maniacal laughter. Because he's winning his holdout publicly he will speak publicly and i'm sure. Rip me somewhere. Where we'll be heard on the greg cody. Show featuring greg cody but while greg cody is laughing and doing that and getting the promotion with the holdout he wanted. I see stu gods in the other room texting and asking greg cody. This is the this is the profound laziness that sweeps across this landscape. He's saying. Say your exclusive words on stupidity. So i couldn't get the clicks desperate party. You really hate to see it. I love that the premise of this segment. Right here that you're listening to tell you how good other things are. Another thing that. I wanted to tell you that it's very good that we talked about and i thought we bypassed yesterday a little too quickly. I wanted to talk to jermaine o'neal for a really long time because it might seem like nostalgic misty when you're watching on net flicks what he's doing but having lived through it a generation removed from what that felt like at the time what happened to those dudes was unfair and that is not how it was chronicled by the media or by anybody. They got shit thrown at them. The police weren't anywhere to be found and they started punching customers because they were afraid. And germaine o'neil gave us so many details that i did not know that runner tests. I thought the most. I don't know what you thought was the most fascinating part of the interview to me. The most fascinating part of the because of course jermaine o'neal having lived this once the ten years of stain off him so he's gonna tell the story and my guess is tells the story that favors him but he is saying this is the story. This is not what was covered. This is the story and ron. Our test was trying to do in the middle of that. He was trying to teach himself the tools with the help of therapist. Counting to five to get back to present and not allow your emotions to take you away. A guy who was dealing with the therapist a that was following him around from arena to arena. Because basically he was not mentally healthy enough. He was to play basketball but to live life. Required a therapist care and jermaine o'neal not understanding it from that prison wanted to fight him for being immature for being reckless. But think about what's happening at the center of that. You've got somebody mentally ill before we're equipped to deal with. He's valuable as a basketball player. Let's tame him. Let's have someone handcuff to him to allow him to live so that we could keep getting him on the basketball court and not have even jermaine o'neal understand like watching the therapist get on team flights and everywhere else and jermaine o'neal said he didn't have any access to mental illness or the thought of it so we just keep getting it ron runner test mad at him not for whatever chemical issues are in in his head or whatever things have scarred him and his upbringing. Whatever it is that has arrived at mentally ill but they were dealing with brain chemistry stuff without knowing how to deal with it. I didn't hear anything more interesting yesterday than him saying. He has a better understanding of runner tests. Now he's trying to show all of us how we need a better understanding for what we did while showing you. Hey me myself. I needed to do a better job. Because i was wanted to fight this dude for being unprofessional. It's really sad. That when you consider what ron our test was going through. And they were so much unknown that they were carrying him around because he had talent on the floor. Like i understand that. I understand that people did understand what was happening with. Ron howard says but hearing jermaine o'neal talk about that just made me feel sad for ron. Her test you know it did and then the other thing about them protecting themselves dan. I mean what you really think about it. You're an arena full of strangers. And mayhem is going on specially good mood and you kind of understand. Like hey wow. I've got to protect myself here at all cost if it means. I punched customer. I budget customer. But we're doing old guy radio. I'm not sure whether people wanted to even hear from germaine o'neal whether it's all getting too old for them they want something. They don't want dr j. in jimmy johnson players from the past. You're not gonna believe. We're about to pull off that netflix documentary today correct. Will you guys go to it. You're saying my too many options. I've got pick that cocaine cowboys kings of miami. I'm not sure that i can do it. I've got two ma. I'm spread too thin on all the streaming services that are bombarding me with great content. You know we're going through stuff. Yesterday was suicide squad day today. I'm in the market for something new. And i got to get to this quick.

"This. To got spot cass. Yesterday i believe that our show did the single oldest version of a show. It has ever done today. We kicked off the show with jimmy johnson telling old war stories and tomorrow dr j. We are officially that show. We're officially that podcast. We're gonna reminisce with the old timers whether you want it or not. We're going to reminisce with the old timers even though dr j. has been notoriously tough interview his entire life but classy always classy and cool and smooth before you knew how to be those things dude will always be cool. I saw him out having dinner one time. And you can just tell when somebody has it going on. It's just a confidence that jumps off of him that he's he's had it going on for five decades. He's like billy dee williams of sports just central smooth skin made of silk. He made some pepper cool. It looks good on him. Kinda like clooney. It does look good on him. Do you think there's people in our audience. We're going to be confused wondering who dr j. is. We have not arrived there yet have we. Yes we have. Yes even with dr j. I believe that is now officially. Old guy. Radio slash podcast. If your guest doesn't know how to find where it is. He's being a man. I think that's the cutoff age. If the guests that you're talking to do you. Think dr j. d. Maybe can do you think he knows how to find us We've kind of cut out that demo. We are different image of dr j. Where he's just so cool. And so i want to answer. Yes yes. I think dr j. would would know how to find out okay. So maybe it's after him. Then i think dr jason is early seventies now. Yeah i'm not sure he knows. But you might be burying the lead here. Did you say there's going to be a show tomorrow wednesday. I did bury the lead. We are going to try to ramp this up a little bit more. We will see whether we can get this heaving jalopy up in the air more days a week because this has been a lot of on all of us but there will be a show tomorrow wednesday for no reason at all other than we're trying to give you as much content as you want and we're trying to get to five days a week you just don't understand how fully you star show that i have to say that because you know dr king's we wanna make them proud. We want to work for. But we also don't want to break the glass on five days right away here dan. We've got built up so burn. Maybe you ever see a dj dead mouse. Slow-burn they're clamoring though for us to go to to go back to what they were used to every day in next door nations mad high with five days. Personally i'm not ready for a support. They want a five day. Where as soon as mike goes to four. I'm at five. All of it is to say i'm at two. We've noticed vacation. You're go right back on vacation and thursday vacation again for stugatz. Do we have the day's lockdown on stugatz when this is like a little weird to day cameo on his vacation. He's approached it as if he's still on vacation. It's just kind of weird like hey don't get too mad at me. I can't take five consecutive weeks off. So he just popped into days makes his presence known and boom darts back out of here. It's a hetty play because it leads to a full week off. So i you know. I combined it little thursday friday into the weekend. It wraps around to the next week that well. That's gonna come to an end soon now. That our ceo is hanging around. Like you've seen you've seen there is more work to be done around here. The contract that i signed says many vacation days. I want i mean why signed it. That's true actually. Do have unlimited pto. Dan you did offer this tall us. Yeah you're in a casket of your own design. However because god's off next week and a hard sell look football's about to ramp up and when it does you get the full cash and you get more show than you know what to do with. That's a threat next week. It's the most enjoyable time of year if you're a fan of the show next week the sui awards. And that's a mike ryan exclusively. Yes yes that you just gave them a big burst of show. There's more show coming your way this week.

"Is these talking heads In in sports today are always trying to get it. Draw attention to themselves. By either mr opposite or ms opposite i guess Or just being overly dramatic and so even though people said they were in love with pits. And he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I looked at him. And i looked at chase and i looked at waddle. My looked at smith and to me chase stood out head and shoulders above all the others with all have skill set his physicality his capabilities his numbers. If you're all up he was my pick and so by moving from three six. We put it that. Pick at risk Here you know. Here's a metaphor. That may be won't go over well with the current generation but we had the prom queen. We had the prom queen. In her hand she was ours The and she said yes layer in the draft for for what the miami dolphins need. Certainly you know maybe sunshine was better Whatever but We had them and we haven't had a superstar wide receiver in forever and a day and we have all seen. What a huge difference. A hopkins Throw you know. Throw names out there. I kept comparing him to mega tron right. Just think of those number ones out there. That are absolutely dominant. That make it happen for you. We haven't had that. And how can we prove more than ever tour was the guy for austin giving him the best weapon in the draft and we fucked it up k. I don't normally swear a lot on you know even though In this podcast. But i was pissed. We fucked it up so Now with all okay. Go show in real quick on that. I never been a position to defend. San Francisco 49ers trade up for the No. 3 pick
"The forty niners trade up to number three overall in the twenty twenty one draft. This was shocking. News to me. Came out right after my episode released on saturday or on friday after i sent over my episode but i normally just was not expecting Draft news to come this early. I feel like most years. The draft news comes a lot closer to the draft is still three or four weeks away but the forty niners did in their aggressive so they traded the twelfth overall. Pick a twenty twenty two third round compensatory pick and first round picks in twenty twenty two and twenty two thousand three for the miami dolphins number three overall selection so the dolphins moved to twelve where the four nine were previously listed. And now the forty niners move up to three. So what does this mean. First of all they swap a total of three first round picks. Is that smart to do. I think it is if they liked the guy. If they're convinced on one of these quarterbacks enough and they're confident that they can get them at number three. I think it's a great move because at this point the forty niners roster is loaded. They're trying to win now. And all they need is that future franchise cornerstone to kind of move that what roster forward and push them over the hump so they need to get the future of the franchise right while the roster and core are relatively young and talented like they are but overall. I think this is a great move by four hundred. Gm john lynch because he's been aggressive. He really inherited a mess in two thousand seventeen. They were coming off all the colin kaepernick drama Jim thome soula era. Which was a fun was which was really fun while it lasted Brian hoyer was his first quarterback when he got there he's made aggressive moves since he treated for jimmy garoppolo drafted. George kittle has fifth round. Pick one of the better draft picks in the past three four years. That's happened for five years. That's happened in the nfl. Just in terms of the value that he got that late in the draft
San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles Make NFL Draft Trades
"Not in season. But March has been mad for the league, especially this week here, Schefty with what all went down. What happened here is that the 40 Niners have been trying to move up in the draft into the top five, frankly, for the last few weeks now, and they were able to cold together a deal with the Miami Dolphins at the same time that the Dolphins were going together a separate deal. With the Philadelphia Eagles that enabled the 40 Niners toe move up the third overall position to take a quarterback. And that means in all probability that we're gonna have quarterbacks go with the first three picks in this draft. We would think Trevor Laurence goes one Zack Wilson to and then the 40. Niners would have their choice. Assuming they stand three for the third quarterback in this draft. I would not dismiss Mack Jones in that conversation. Like Trey, Lance. They like Justin Fields. They're going to continue to do more and more work here in the weeks leading up to the draft, but they wanted to get into this slot now. So that they could have their choice at three. Knowing that they would get one of these quarterbacks a lot of people then wonder what happens to Jimmy Garoppolo. Sure, they're gonna be trading him right? Not so fast, because they believe that this is a Super Bowl caliber roster, and they're not ready to hand that roster toe a young rookie quarterback who's unproven just yet. So in their minds today, Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be a quarterback and opening day, and that's not a leverage play. That's not them trying to bait another team into giving up more compensation for Jimmy Garoppolo. Their true honest plan today is to have Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting quarterback. Have the first round draft pick that they take a quarterback learn for a year and then eventually it will be his job in San Francisco going forward. We have
Philadelphia Eagles bolster draft arsenal with blockbuster trade with Miami
"Looked at, and there were a couple of blockbuster trades in the NFL today. That's all many draft picks on the move with the gist of the deals being the Philadelphia Eagles will now pick 12th. In this year's draft. The Miami Dolphins will pick it six and the San Francisco 40 Niners have moved all the way up to number three in the 2021
At least 1 of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson’s accusers attempted to blackmail him
"Gonna move on briefly to addition watson because you know what we promised. We'll give you the shawn watson update every day and we will do that because it changes every day. What number we now here. A colonic sixteen. Yeah it is. What's fourteen lawsuits. Isn't it to. Because the time this thing drops people listen numbers rate in this situation. I think at this point where We're past the point of needing to get the data on the information now at true affords like we're at. Are you a predator or not zone. Like that's i don't know. I haven't read a the guy in the houston. Chronicle his name wilson yet. Yup does he still think sixteen are lining up to make a deal. How silly was that premise. That people still want to trade from no one would trade anything form. They wouldn't take him for nothing. The miami dolphins new york jets new england patriots niners broncos. None of them would take to shawn watson for nothing. They didn't win. Give you a thing for the shawn watson because this guy has a problem. He's not who we thought he was. I'm ready to jump to conclusions and say he was inappropriate with many many women and he had a fetish couldn't just be one or two. He wanted to do this to a number women because he probably enjoyed the challenge. Enjoyed the danger of it. All and today mike florio from pro football taco used to be a lawyer. He's got a piece saying what he would do if he you know because a lot of people ask them. What would you do if he hired you. He didn't hire florio. Had tony busby. Who's either a A lawyer or a the most incredible conman the most credible Shakedown artist of all time. Because he's the one who's updating every day with the number of masseuses who are charging accusing deshaun watson of inappropriate behavior. But but but two things two things here. He gives all this advice florio and it's reasonable. He said he'd sit down and try to get all the women or their representative in a room to make one big settlement trying to make it all. Go away with one big paycheck that they could and they clearly are looking for that because they're not having gone to the cops which brings me to point number two and end to the point where they try to basically extort him out of thirty one of them tried to extort him out of thirty grand in january. I believe i'm not sure that's extortion. If you're saying will agree not to charge you and these are hard working people at working class girls. Maybe who and by way are people like julia to cairo in on people like Niece smelly they waiting to see what race these women are. Because they haven't had much to say about this yet. But i assume they are. They going to wait and see what race they are and then they decide how they feel about it. Which is madness.
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross shares his life story
"American stories and with the story of an American classic Stephen Ross is the largest real estate developer in America, the owner of the Miami Dolphins. And he shared his life story with our own Alex Cortez. Stephen Ross is a Detroiter born and bred until his parents dragged him against his will. Midway through his freshman year of high school from Miami Beach, Florida hated it down there, actually. And I kind of rebelled against my parents and E got toe little trouble. I mean, I mean, I suppose is studying, you know, go out. Quick. Give me a little bit, You know, I mean, I had a you know everything but study even though my parents really Try to be strict. You know, my father lectured all the time. As opposed because he was working and then he'd lecture me. I guess it didn't do any good, You know, but its ultimate I guess it's something e. I don't know. E wanted to get out of there. I went toe. My parents said. Well, if you're gonna leave, you don't want to go to school here. You have to go to military school. It's fed about four days of military schools that I go back to school, you know? And e talk to most of my friends. I mean, probably my background was probably different than most, because I've never excelled early in life, and I was We got into college because they had to accept me because I had a standardized test that I Scored well enough that the school had to take you and they flunked out two thirds of the freshman class. They tell you looking at left and looking. You're right. The person sitting next you won't be here next year and So you know, kind of a wake up call. But I also knew if I wanted something we didn't I wasn't doing anything for my parents. I wasn't left anything and they had nothing to give me. You know, so I knew Where was you know is either sink or swim? And then when I got to college, that's when I really kind of started to be able to do well to receive Florida then so I could transfer to Michigan and then law school and then I got my masters in tax law. Which I excelled in, and it's probably the best year of school I ever had. That really had found something enjoyed. It always get good marks. If I liked it, you know, I didn't like the subject. I didn't do very well. Confidence. I mean, you know, you have to first find your confidence. That you can succeed and do something well, Excel. Continue on me, as they say Success breeds success. Mean, teachers told my parents. They were wasting time sending me to college, which is really kind of funny, right when I look back at it now, So I mean, I look at myself I was the way it started. Life because it Probably spread about the least likely to succeed in my ass school class, you know? So you tell me how much teachers don't wouldn't so the environment of which were brought up on me Even when your parents As much as my parents emphasized that and I could see things Was really later that I really saw things a lot more clearly, you know, after getting his master's degree it and why you Stephen went back to his hometown to work in an accounting firm as a tax attorney. I was doing very well practicing law on it. You know, certain places really kind of funny. It's kind of impulsive. I'm in my office one day was, in fact, I remember I could still picture Was June's thing was true. Seven through 2/9 in 1968. The night before Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, and I'd watch it that night. And that next day you're wondering the life that you never know when it's over and thinking about that, you know, he was a relatively young guy and partner walks in my office and asked me If I want to go Toe seven are in New York said You know what? Haven ever thought about it, is it? I want to go. I think I want to go to New York for good. It's a matter of fact, I'm quitting a moving to New York. Never entered my mind. It never would. From my mind too. You know, I'm gonna think about leaving and I even thought about leaving. It just came up. I mean, like this so impulsive. Sometimes we don't even know ourselves. No, What's really what's going out? So you've been brought in the senior partner and may you know Steve's quit. He's leaving New York. You know, guys What I mean, Steve, you're doing great. Here. You're gonna be a partner here and blah, blah, blah. But I got bored and I could see how I was tailing off in my bite. That was just ready for something and that Z parked it. About me even thinking about it. You know, it's a lot of things you know, like we think we're in control of We're not necessarily in control of what we really don't know. It takes something takes a spark. For something to happen. I've told my mother, you don't know anybody in New York. I said, Hey, you know, I went there. I loved it. And, you know stories. If you could make it there, you can make it anywhere. Blah, blah, blah and off. I went and
What they're saying: Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz or other teams — who has the leverage?
"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem
Dolphins offensive coordinator Gailey resigns
"The dolphins have Chan gailey has resigned as dolphins offensive coordinator now. The news for many is that john. Kelly was the dolphins offensive coordinator. But i am telling you he is just resigned. So how about that some local news here. Miami dolphins geli out a lot. Often fans are happy. Sue god's with that because there was a fake adam. Schefter that fooled even. Espn espn had to put down an apology. Because the fake adam schefter had everyone convinced chan. Gailey was let go parting ways with the miami dolphins dolphin fan celebrated and then we're all bummed to find out the chain. Gayley was actually not let go and still on staff. That was the plan but now chan gailey twenty four hours after the announcement of him being on the staff is decided to no longer be on the staff himself

The bengals would agree story. Yeah and i want the bengals to know that. The houston texans have been dancing on all kinds of bengal logos via and they've been urinating on it and it is disgusting. What they've done to the they took a big old crap out there so took a big old craft. So you guys get really pissed and kick the texans ask is. How classic is gazed a screw things up even in a victory. Can you just give me your thoughts on that. I mean it was hysterical. It is beyond comprehension dumb. I mean i know that no head coach and no player wants to go lose a game so they go out and you know they're gonna play but you know. Gm's i'm sure are rooting france at fans understand and and owners you know are looking at the long-term view and you know probably the staff and and you know people are financially interested in the team's future and all that they reached that point during the season where we have sunshine we want sunshine sunshine is the future in new york and now he is not thank you adam gates i guess he's shady characters in new york a forget. Forget about those shirts who you more that that sunshine guy. We're not gonna get him that schmuck. I mean we were really printing the shirts. Yeah that's schmuck as fuck. Must it up again. "Earlier chatting amounts ackerman he was sort of one of your little crushes when you were younger. No I I love the high school musical movies So I was like what was that? Then I found out he was like five, seven, five, eighty dollars like not gonNA work 'cause. Be Taller than him so I'm five seven and a half. So I'm like, okay we can't be the same height but yeah no, I loved Disney and stuff growing up. So he I don't know if he was my idol he was just maybe like what I was in fifth grade my crush but I actually it's a funny story. The reason I became a cheerleader was I watched the Dallas cowboys making the team. TV show. I was eight years old. There was a girl on named Brooke Sorenson she was on. The team for five seasons. He was a captain when on military tour she was amazing and it's so funny 'cause fast when auditioned for dolphins and they were introducing the staff, she ended up being my criag referring coach for two out of three seasons that I cheered. So it was surreal and she was my idol growing up from the age of eighteen. I wanted to be an NFL cheerleader because of her and then I found out she was the coach and I was like I have to make this seem. That is super cool. That's almost full circle. You're watching your idol as a kid sort of get involved with cheerleading because of her then you're like holy crap woman is Actually GonNa be coaching me. We'll hit that little bit more when we get into the whole topic of cheerleading. But I think that is super amazing that you're able to work alongside your childhood at all what other sports do you play as a kid? Obviously, you've probably were involved gymnastics and cheerleading starting from a young age but did you play softball field hockey soccer anything else of the child for but I did but no, I did ballet for eleven years. And I sing opera five years about interesting house. I was in plays and always in dance and cheer, and then I started cheering in high school when I was on Varsity Warriors, which was so much fun. So I've been dancing since I was three and I mean, I love playing basketball and football outside. I have something pinned at the top of my twitter me throwing a football Madonna used to throw football's all the time. So a lot of fun, but it was all dance and the arts and singing and acting, and all that sort of thing when I was up very cool sounds like you stayed very active love. The fact that you are a dancer obviously that helped out with the. cheerleading of worse and some of your favorite things that you enjoy doing as a kid in currently. Now Fun fact you'd like to travel go fishing, which you talk about a little bit earlier growing up in Florida and also you love to cook. So I wanted to ask you you prefer lake or ocean fishing. Probably Ocean I love going to the keys and catching dolphin. Mahi. Mahi my love catching stuff like that. You can catch really big fish. It's fun to like fishing rivers and lakes, catch trout and whatnot but I think salt water fishing would have to be my favorite Hersher. What was the biggest fish that you have ever caught? Way The fishtail or no? No. I hooked tarpon once and that was probably the most fun like trying to reel it in. But I lost it when it got close to the boat any new fight tarpon for hours like I mean you like go the ball with them because they'll rip the line. So I end up losing it got close to vote but it was I mean it was a huge tarpon for sure..

"Both cover like the fun charity events or somebody going to a hospital for a visit from a fresh lassie, end up the best way to do it with sports soup with your personality in showcases the best way that you can. Your future goal is to hopefully potentially work with ESPN someday I personally love when they do the documentaries I'm not watch any of them this summer they did a great job of paying out the. To one that out much Kabul's nineteen ninety. Am Let's talk a little bit about your fun fact. So I know that you also are into animation I looked at your instagram that is super fooled alleys animation and Were located. Elliot's animations which I thought was released sweet and actually made some animations based off of your boyfriend plays professional baseball You made some great little animations on him in like a mother's Day when I start mile once. So what inspired you to get into animation? It was just when I graduated I was Corentin I lived on Singer Island in Florida and I was super born okay. I'M GONNA take up a new hobby I downloaded procreate procreate on my phone I used the stylus from like Just, a regular writing pen and I just started doodling and doing different things. I'm very elementary added. I'm not a pro by any means I took some design classes in college in familiar with photo shop in in design and illustrator all that sort of thing. But this is totally just for fun on the side like for friends that needed funding like that. It was kind of a trend I saw a lot of people posting those doodles and I was like, okay I'm going to teach myself so. It's pretty neat. So it's like a newfound hobby of yours just fun to do on the side people message me and say like Hey. I'm getting married and I WANNA put like a doodle and a picture frame on our snack table and I'm like, okay. Cool and I do to leg over the picture you have like a million layers you out all these new layers what it is basically trace everything. I'm not like a natural artist I just either freehand trace things. anyone can learn really. You could probably get into even making logos for companies or businesses or even your own someday, which is pretty sweet. I thought that they were pretty cool because they. If you look at her animation page, it's really interesting because they don't have faces. It's kind of weird, but it looks really quick because it's very descriptive and you can see like the outline of body that phase it. Forces you to focus on other aspects of the person which is like you can focus on the beard which I saw a photo of your boyfriend that you did the Cinco de Maya one I was focusing on the railroad because it was bright colors. Yeah. His one on tricky with the catcher's gear knocking allied, doing all the stitching and the logo that was probably the trickiest part but it was fun and like the first one I did. So I definitely got a little better at it long. Very cool. You guys right now listening to Allie Ron former Miami Dolphins, cheerleader she actually is from Bradenton Florida. "Are losers from our good friends at that online if you guys are into betting on Sports, poor sports or back. Well, thank you so much for joining us today. So allie if you guys don't know who she is, she actually is a former Miami dolphins cheerleader I am so up to have you on here you are from Florida I could see rock in your Tan right now and I love the Tan before we get going the US FAU in. Florida how that whole situation obviously grew up there as well. We're going to touch base with that afterwards. Yeah. So I went to international university and I majored in broadcast media for my first two years in school, and then I switched my major PR advertising and Applied Communications I had the opportunity to do some internships out of state. So it worked out where I could do my major fully online and I graduated this past may I loved being in south Florida was perfect I was simultaneously cheering which we'll get into news though I loved it sunny south. Florida. What inspired you to have that focus I know that you actually interned at ESPN. So obviously, do have an interest in sports media in broadcasting and a little bit later, I WanNa talk all about your fun animation products that you working on as well. Whole. Yeah. So from a really young age I mean sportscenter and MLB tonight live on my TV, my dad and brother are diehard baseball and. Football and basketball fan supporting all the Florida teams by entire life and I took a liking to Aaron Andrews and Samantha, Ponder from a young age and I watched them. You know growing accelerator careers that I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I've done a variety of internships in some industries and fields that I like being diverse in ruling out what I don't like and what I do like. It how was it in turning over at ESPN was that F. The ESPN in Florida or did you happen to venture off to the headquarters which I believe is closer to me up in Connecticut. Yes. Their headquarters is in Bristol Connecticut but my internship was in West Palm Beach Florida super exciting. "I do want to focus on it. The coaching staff for the Miami Dolphins. What we're going to be getting in the very near future. Ryan flora's. We'll be taking this job. He's not going to pull the Josh mcdaniels. If he does it's going to be even bigger surprise, Josh mcdaniels pulling himself last year. Everyone is expecting Brian Flores a follow through. There's no reasonably that. He won't follow through. There's no second thoughts. There's no cold feats. They are deep into the planning process. He has his coaching staff sets. And this is what it's going to be now before I do that. I know there was talk about Chris rich, Richman. A lot of people had Chris Richard as the leading targets. We had mentioned something on it as well. As I mentioned, I last week's podcast early in that week middle that week by lent Wednesday, the latest I had land on the fact that Brian Florez was the leading candidate. I could not report it though, due to my source not wanting me to say anything, and then I was able to confirm it with two other sources, which gave me the green light to go. Forward and move forward with that information. So going back to Chris Richard Omar Kelly today, the Sun-Sentinel so that he was talking to people at the senior bowl. And the reason why the dolphins went with Brian Flora's over Chris, Richard. Chris Richard is a little too emotional. And we all saw the passion that he brings on all the video that we watched him. And if you read any sports psychology, if you just it's just common sense, right? If someone is that emotional on you every single day just think of your boss at work, whatever you do in your life. If your boss is that crazy in that passionate, and that emotion on you every single day all hours of the day, basically. And then in crunch time really takes it up a notch. It's going to wear on you. It's going to push the right buttons for some. But not all and it's not going to work for everyone. Meanwhile, Brian floor is the dolphins like, he's calm, cool and collected. He doesn't get too high doesn't get too low, which is what you really want and your NFL head coach to be all honest. You don't want a guy. Guy that's going to be up and down all over the place and let the game control your emotions. I think Chris Richard May be a good head coach in the NFL. But I do think that passion that he brings to be reined in a little bit in order for him to be successful as the leader of team. The other reason why Omar Kelly said that it's Brian floors job is because he presented better coaching staff to the dolphins. And we saw that which include while he said was the main reason the dolphins went with Brian Flora's over Chris Rowan appearance. You coaching staffs when you bring in a guy like Jim Caldwell who's been to the school who's won the Super Bowl who's coached legends like pay manning who's have success in Detroit. Even though his final record doesn't really show it if you really dig down deep inside you'll notice that he did have success with Matthew Stafford who played arguably as best football in his career under Jim Caldwell. Jim called will be will be a great sounding board for Brian floors will be a great mentor for blind fro Flora's, and we'll also be a great mentor for the new offensive. Coordinator shadow shea who's coming from the patriots. Who's the wide receivers? Coach we've talked about Brian Flora's and nauseam, and you guys all know about them ready. So we're going to skip over that. We're gonna go right? The chat Ochej cheddar. Shea has been coaching since nineteen ninety six he started off with Houston at the university of Houston as graduate assistant..
