"Families have focused on remaining safe or staying at home and wear a mask Those people behind the highway. Our drive like bats out of hell, literally and figuratively. Let me say one more thing to The other thing we noticed, too, is a depending on the jurisdiction. They tremendous drop. In the number of people pull over by the place. Why would that be The case, Barney. Matt. Be fewer of them out there, too. Yeah, For example, During the summer, A lot of police were involved and All hands on deck protocols because of the social protests are urban protest. That's true, Yeah. And you know you have a The inauguration having up and there's all hands on deck. So all the police departments in the Washington metro area would be involved in security protocols. So those people who drive like bats out of hell, They know that they're going to go out and drink and they're gonna keep on driving record slips. Progressively the other thing. And even when police officers were not involved And all hands on deck. Go to college because of security reasons or protest raisins. Think about this. In Maryland in the District of Columbia. And in Virginia, you are required adventure. I'm in public to wear masks step into a store or a grocery store pharmacy. Restaurant, you're required to wear masks. I guess So. What is the one place where people are not required to wear man? Uh, where In your car. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's right. Okay, So if you are a police officer And you pull somebody over for a minor traffic infraction. You have to weigh the risk. This boat that was not wearing a mask is not required to wear man. If I pull him over, though, I'm wearing a mask. He's not wearing one. Can I be impacted? Right? So You have your Traffic stops. Yeah, going on. And we're seeing on highways that unless neighbors or driver's calling a particular problem Many drivers. Now they're fewer police officers doing patrols. And if you are risky driver's an open invitation drive like a Oh, yeah, But here's the other thing That really is strange. We're seeing a staggering increase in the number of people who were killed in traffic crashes during a pandemic or not wearing their seatbelts. So here here here, the high risk activities were saying, but all these deaths that are occurring Not all of this, but there's certain tax of deaths that are occurring that are preventable. Such as Feeding and we see an increase in the number of speeding tickets. You will see an increase in the number of people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or open. Your shoes are opioids, or we're seeing an increase in number of people involved in crashes were distracted when they were driving. But the thing that is the rub is the number of people for not wearing a seat belt. Well, we have just a couple of minutes to go and we wrap up with, um, any significant things going on with the legislative sessions in the Maryland, Virginia or D. C. Yes, Couple things in Virginia on Tim County is going to ask for permission. The state legislator to be able to install speed cameras. And Oregon. And what's curious about that is at the same time. They're hoping to do that. They also want to lower the speed limit. Now that sounds like the makings of a speech trap to make. Yeah, but Virginia just this last year. Was in a drawer sixes. Have now the wherewithal or the Legislative ability to impose Put speak cameras and school's out as you have in the state of Maryland, but what they want to do is be able guards and does You also do it on neighborhood streets and highways. They're always too but I'm always suspicious Bernie when they link Putting and speed cameras. We're reducing the speed limit at the same time. It sounds like you're creating a speech after me. In Montgomery County, a piece of legislation is coming up in the General Assembly will be Where the Montgomery County delegations pushing for the Miami County Council are also pushing for Transferring the automated traffic enforcement program, but the Montgomery County Police Department to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation out of the provides an ambitious zero. Now that's a little strange to you. It happened. Late 2019 in the District of Columbia, where the automated traffic enforcement program was transferred from Metropolitan Police Department over to the District upon the transportation. Be that We oppose that we want to oppose is transforming my gunnery county. Let me just say this. My Governor County and you, You hear me? Wax? There's a gold standard nationwide and the national model. I'm gonna go standard across the state. I just don't understand it. Jacksonville doesn't want a lot of games. They won one game this year. Yeah, but but you look at that they're going to get Trevor large. Susan a generational wants John Elway, Andrew Luck type quarterback, and I think they have a lot of cap money. And I think pro football's is not the grind Colleges colleges that grind Now there's two signing periods. Now it's 2024 hours a day 3 65 recruiting. That is a grind. So interpretive. He's looking for his health a little bit. I think he's saying he has a little less stressful, but I mean, he's gonna lose some games. Not like he wants the deck stack, right? He wants the deck stacked. That's why you go. You go to Ohio State. You get the best in recruiting. You get all that and you leave Harley a chance for anything bad to happen, right? It's not that way and l a charger every game every game and look in college football. Especially your Ohio State. 95% of your games are already one before you even take the field. There were layers one or two games. You might lose your pen state, Michigan and then whatever the playoffs lately, But the other games You're gonna win those who wants to live in Los Angeles and deal with all that crap. No good of Florida in no state income tax, and you're a gator. You're 43 days already established a lot of relationships in Florida. So at first I couldn't see why you take it. But Look, if the guy likes the coaches 56 years old, he's got 10 more years. I'm gonna play golf for the next 40 years. He wants to do 10 years 100 million. If that's the number that's a lot of money. He's really good as an analyst to Bo and one fever. Yeah, I think he's fine. But you don't make 10 million. You don't know they don't pay that kind of money. Plus plus plus? Yeah, so we'll see what happens. See? All right, All right. What do you have on the clock? I'm also asking about Anything. Gonzalez rep from up North your body teammate with the Indianapolis Colts. He's a rep. He was one of the 10 GOP members to vote for impeachment. Now I think that is a Big mistake on his part for a lot of reason about Lynne Cheney leadership in the House. She's from what Wyoming, right. Trump won Wyoming by 38 4% or something. But then Kevin McCarthy said Trump is responsible for the ride on the capital. He's the leader of the Republicans in the house, but it doesn't arrive. I say. Don't impeach him. He's leaving anyway. He's leaving anyway. It's thing you and I have been pretty except Scott Sloane is saying impeach him for what he wants. He wants a pound of flesh. It was never say we gotta find a way to come together. We gotta find a way to get along with the country. Do we get along as a country by always seeking a pound of flesh from the enemy. Let's knock it down as much as we can. Let's go to a Steve and Dayton the home of the Flyers and right state. Steve, Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show. Steve, How are you? State? Senator Steve Huffman. William Senator, How are you? Pretty good. You need to give Rocky back and after the big news out of foul 10 yesterday, what is it? September 11th 2020 this year Toledo at Notre Dame. Notre Dame's endogenous Alito issue went there and I could play there. Notre Dame's in Dodge in Toledo, and we got him in the crosshairs. Well, is it a home and home when they come back to the glass city and play? They were too afraid to go to the glass ball. It's a one time deal. I'd senator what about the vaccine because a lot of Ohioans are pissed off right now. Well, really, I think there's a little miscommunication. Last week, I went by my mother and all isn't Toledo went to the Lucas County Health Department. I got her registered to get a vaccine next week. Today. Here in Miami County, A registered my mother with the mining County Health Department. I represent dark and trouble. You can go on their website right now and register. I'm a position in the Katarina at work. You can go on their website. They got about 200 shots that they They're gonna give out next week. They have a fight in town in Dayton and pattering, the old elder bairn mints and also in James Town where they're taking appointments to give shot 80 and over. So that's out there. You gotta find it. I think what's gonna happen tomorrow? It's going to be in a consolidated place so everybody can go and look at it. But people are already getting registered. And you're gonna be at the back the line if you're not there today, So today, Senator, you should do it now and not wait to ADM. Tomorrow morning. I think you should go to your look at your local health department, your local hospital system and see what they have. I think you should look at the local Kroger's or your pharmacy because there's going to be 800 spots. My understanding on Monday That's going to do the eighties and over tomorrow will come out the website where to find that And you might be a little too late. So it's a better for those who live in urban areas such a Cincinnati to ignore Cincinnati, which is packed and go to a small rural county. I don't know, because because look, I I think Miami County, which is about 100,000 people going to get you know three or 400 vaccine Montgomery County. Half a million people. They're going to get two or 3000. So it's gonna be proportional to the number of residents in the county and the number of vaccine so it's just difficult to know what's going to be the best for you. But my suggestion is to look at multiple places for multiple Opportunities for the people over 80 and so and you can. Then you get an appointment and actually be vaccinated on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Yes, that that if everything goes right, that is the plan and one of things don't go. Right, Nick, come up with another plan. Well, you know, one concern I have is, you know there's 100,000 doses coming in. We got 420,000 people in over 80 Group. And then the next week, there's 75. I think there's about 600,000 people of those, and so we're just getting back up on all these people. We haven't finished. Want a group yet? Why? Why is that? Why don't we have the actual product here? What's the reason? I don't know. I don't know It's manufacturing or transportation or logistics. It's I believe the state of Ohio is a sin if it touches down in Columbus. It's moving. I don't know where the backlog or the limiting factor is at this point, but I think the highest trying to do the best that I agree that We knew that this was common. We should have had a little bit better logistics out there for this 80 and over group, But this is what we got, and we're moving forward and the reason not to do the big box retailers..

different setting throughout this crisis I have tried to balance the safety of the people of the state of Ohio but also try to achieve a continuation of the central services a continuation of allowing people when possible to continue to to make a living provide for their family and to keep our economy moving I'm fully aware that some of our orders have caused people to lose their jobs I I fully understand that each one of those orders which fought out agonized over I made those decisions because I felt that the evidence was abundantly clear that those decisions would save lives would protect lives we are seeing in the news steps have been taken by other states Pennsylvania California in regard to the closing of of additional businesses we continue to work to find the right balance let me just say that I wanna thank the businesses in the state that have gone out of their way the done everything they could to comply with the best safety precautions shepherding people making sure their sanitizer everywhere making sure when that employee comes in there's a discussion with an employee how are you feeling are you okay businesses that have Ashton ploys to take their own temperature at home businesses that have the thermometers that can take the temperatures they come in we have some real heroes out there in the business community who really really focusing on that so I thank you what you do what you're doing every day is saving lives there's absolutely no doubt about that sadly I also though continue to receive and continue to receive more this morning emails tax from employees from people who have observe what's going on in other businesses about businesses that are not compliant businesses that are recklessly risking the lives of their employees their employees families and everyone that they that those employees and their families come in contact with this simply must stop I implore you please do what is right as I continue to balance my responsibility to the people of the state of Ohio responsibility I took an oath of office to do the essential thing the government does which is that is to protect the people as I balance that with our attempt to keep this economy moving let me make it very very clear that I will err on the side of protecting people so no one else went today but the bad behavior the reckless behavior must stop can I congratulate all those who are out there who are making a difference every day businesses that are mindful of what they need to do to protect their employees evidence shows that when businesses do this when they're very very aggressive they can protect their employees so I would ask please do that I continued analysis I continue to look at this every single day and make the decisions which I think her best interest of the people of the state of Ohio but the sanctity of life the protection of life is the most important obligation that I have let me now asked Dr Acton to come up and to give her update on what she is saying around the state of Ohio thank thank you governor and good afternoon everyone and I.

"Area trot, would you're talking about identifying where tornado crossed an area of seventy five never cross seventy but across seventy five just north of downtown Dayton. You also have the date near port right there in that area. Just north of seventy I is one of the significant things over there trot would is just west of seventy five north of seventy kind of northwest, just right outside of Dayton. It's also just north of university of Dayton. Do we know how close that was maybe to the Dayton airport, Matt? I would guess given what I saw on on, you know, the TV is I was watching on radar and watching the coverage out of the market. You know, we're a couple of miles, I would guess, 'cause you, as you accurately, depicted, trot woods to south, they're the airport, seventy run south of the airport. So you know if it didn't cross seventy would have been an enclosed but it obviously didn't didn't get up in that area. But I know there were several storms that room packed in the area. So there are a lot of damage reports in Miami county, which would be north of the airport, some damage reports obviously, as it came down through north of downtown Dayton. So, you know, there was it seems like there's a lot of widespread damage around the Dayton metro area. Certainly, you know, a scary night for folks that live in western Ohio. Sure was mad. I gotta correct something. I said, I think I said, north of seventy actually trot would is south of seven. And if you can picture Wright patt air force base, a lot of our listeners know, that Trump would is about probably three or four miles due east, or due west of Wright patt air force base again. Do you have do you have pictures on any of the cameras? Oh, go cameras of tornado in Dayton. Have you found those because I know you'll be scouring.

"Service providers in, you know, foundation veer import role in getting that going in moving the moving the city forward in a way that probably would have taken them a couple years to get to if not if they would've ever, and I think they would have had a lot of faith in the leadership, Mr. passing the city of Miami county. But it's it's the perfect example is just this moment of instigation. But if we think we can rely on philanthropy for much more than that. I think we're miss understanding their whole society, I guess, my own interactions is that I'm always curious on how they drive policy development that even the standards they set for getting a grant for them that okay? This is what it's gonna take to meet adaptation grant, what's the basis for that is is there any sort of quality control, even at the foundation level. Or is it just the board the sort of setting the thing, and I know they have staff people, but at the same time, they drew. Drive a lot of decisions into at the nonprofit level because everybody wants that funding. And even when you talk about even the bigger funders, and you get into the bonds, and such how's that gonna drive policy, and I guess the right way. It's it's hard to know certainly dangerous implications in the sense that disproportionate amount of Dacians are driving policy development with limited democratic input as to the nature of what the politics are. I mean, sometimes it works. It doesn't Disney have healthy skepticism about how that process works. Aquit? Right. Agitation still this new emerging area in his is you talked about in this book. And I'm just curious if you're hearing anything in California's that do think once big money in whatever form that takes and you have a whole list of potential big finances is that will it like drive innovation inadaptation. Or will it sort of smother? It's because people want that kind of certainty around what they're getting..

I'm good. How are you guys doing tonight? We're doing good. Thanks so much for joining us. Lots to get you here today. Governor Disentis made his second of three picks for the Florida Supreme Court. He chose judge Robert Locke from the third district court of appeal. It's also Santa says second pick of a south Florida appeals judge. What do we know about judge luck aside from the fact, that's a that's a great name for a judge. Highly regarded in both Republican and democratic circles one of the tweets at the Republicans have been pushing around one from the democratic house leader, Tony Mckee of Miami county, judge walk as a great candidate. I Jewish judge appointed to the court in more than twenty years. Solid conservative a member of the federalist society pretty much universal acclaim here. This is another. You know, this is if elections have consequences. This is exactly what Republicans wanted when they voted for Rhonda Santa and really this. This is the second pick that the scientists has made and both of them have pretty much had the same response. You really haven't heard a lot not that there's a lot they can do. But you really haven't heard a lot of complaining from the left. No, you haven't. And the thing. I keep thinking is kind of like a pool metaphor, Rick Scott left. Rhonda Santa's a lot of great shots. And it seems like he's running to table. Now. I don't know why Rick Scott did not work with this. I don't know why fought till the end and didn't work more with wanders scientists because governor to Santa's is getting all this credit for making great pick out of the gate. He's gonna probably have a third one here next couple of days. It's just it's opportunity to really seem like he's mean he won the times a political winner of the week Makeith is on Twitter saying he's in Waco. Wait till you see what's coming in we too. I mean, there's just all sorts. I mean, you've got Jon Morgan. Yeah. Touting him on Twitter right now. And so I keep thinking that not only interests making the right decisions. But Rick Scott left him a lot of room to make those decisions. I. I don't know how every newly elected lawmaker across the country has started out there tenure. But I can't imagine. There's anybody out there who started better then Rhonda Santa's now, and or let's just look back historically in Florida. What do you think about Bush, Chris, and Scott, I took a little bit? It took. I mean, Scott had a terrible six months much less six days, and, you know, Bush brought came in there with a lot of energy crystals up into a lot of energy. But I don't remember any of the three previous Republican governors having this kind of momentum going into their second week of administration. And and I like the way they've laid it out every day. There's something new something exciting and something that pretty much. Everybody is in agreement on her happy with you had the first supreme court pick. Then you had the rollout of the environmental plan. You know, you you've got the issues that he took care of in regards to sheriff, Scott Israel. You've got this supreme court pick. You've got talk about dropping that ridiculous fight in court over smokable medical marijuana. That seems like it's coming real soon. So every day, there's something new and something big that the this team is dropping on the state of Florida, and it's all pretty much being well received it is again, I go to the point. You know, why did Rick Scott not do some of these things, you know, go to the grove one four part that one too. That's such a layup. Yeah. Yup. And and nobody can understand why he didn't do it. I mean, you're you're it what what is this dynamic between Scott into Santa's? Because clearly there's something going on there. All right. So we've done I think you've seen in sunburn and other places we've done some, you know, where I like to think that were as dialed in with the new administration has anybody? Yup. And from what my sources can tell you know, it really took a left turn. Because it's a recount Rick Scott sees wanted to Santa's on television very calmly tippety into transition. Rick Scott was still in the fight of his wife. And so we look at you know, there was there was an instance where Rick Scott would not allow Rhonda Santa's to have transition space immediately after he became governor luck until he came down to Naples to meet with him. There were some personnel decisions that Rick Scott wanted bizarrely wanted to go along with the city would think about it. But when he did not do that it had to do with the department of economic opportunity rich got another pivot away from. From Rhonda from working with Rhonda Santa. There was a lot of. No, we're not going to do that one of the traditional things that an outgoing administration. Does is they everybody in the cabinet everybody. I think -nificant office they tended their resignation. Most of those people are return to their career staff people there returned almost instantly. Rick Scott would not do that. He would not quickfire zone people's what he what he is what we were told that he said, and so the administration the transition Susie wild executive director was put in the awkward spots telling everybody. Hey, you're gonna be fired. If you don't tend your your reservation, so it really started with the recount Rhonda Sanchez, supposedly would not raise. It was. He didn't want to raise a lot of money for the fundraising effort of you. Remember, Rick, Scott. Razi boatload of money right after the election for the recount for his recount efforts. Rhonda Santa's felt like he didn't need to be a part of that that he was in a good enough position where he can just move forward with this transition. And so they're definitely now a divide between so basically. You Scott during the recount who thought that the Santa should have been helping them out more into Santa's is like, you know, I I'm the next governor of the state of Florida. I gotta get my stuff in order, and that's where they started. And then the appointments the flurry of last-second appointments by then governor Scott that clearly didn't help. And and that was that was more symptom of the of the breakdown, and that was a that was a. Outgoing governor telling the incoming governor f you at this point, you know, that we're, you know, he's still in charge. I think the scientists going to walk back. I think what is what you'll end up happening is governor to campus will pull back all of those appointments, and then reappoint some of the ones that they like like and Andrew Pollock to the right education board, etc. A you know, a few of I'm both of them. But I would say forty percent of them will go through. But I think they're gonna end up pulling all of those because they're upset with the ways that those appointments were made we're talking to publisher Florida, politics dot com. Peter shore, she can follow on Twitter at Peter shore, F L as impressive as to Santa has been started his tenure as governor. I gotta tell you. And I talked about this a lot on Friday show. I don't think Senator. Rick Scott's been all that impressive at all. I went through his conversation with the Tampa Bay times on the government shutdown and immigration and the border, and I don't know. What his position is. He's all over the place. He he's he's playing the political game where he says a bunch of stuff, but doesn't really say anything. There was a tweet that he posted. I think on maybe it was Thursday or Friday of last week. And he said I've been here for three hours in its place is totally dysfunctional. I mean to go over to, you know, over to your in laws house and telling. I mean, you know, the way the Senate work. I mean, as you know, well, is that is all relationships day. Oh, yeah. And the fact that he's a billionaire isn't going to overwhelm, you know, other people in that room like Mark Warner, or or, you know, there are other not billionaires, but multi-millionaire so it's not he's not going to be able to you know, impose like he was in Florida. And so I think he's off to an awkward political start. It is going to be weird him jumping into you know, this period when there's already shut down, you know, he he really can't get into issues yet. I think it goes back to you. Honestly. Right. I don't even know why he's up there. I'm just a guy who's been a chief executive all of his life. And now he is literally number one hundred of one hundred in a body dedicated to moving slowly, and you know, the interpersonal relationships. Yeah that he's never enjoyed. Let's talk about this recent piece in the New York Times about Florida Democrats, it was titled stung by Florida midterm losses. Democrats see a swing state drifting away. What was the general analysis in the peace? And why did you take issue with it? So it's taught him as a who was at the Miami Herald, excellent reporter, she's working for the New York Times now, and she's basically making there are some Democrats who thinks that it was almost a systemic issue that the Democratic Party is broken in Florida that the state is permanently read, and you know, there's a debate about whether or not it's worth it for national Democrats to compete in Florida. Honey. And I made the argument over one like just by the math, the the Democrats only lost by point one five here, you know, yesterday law. There is no doubt they lost. But as close as they possibly could swing state nature of Florida. How many recounts we have, you know? Three. Could have gone either way, and it affects one I I go back to the original. You've heard me talk about this for a year. I thought it was candidates. I thought killing with. I thought Bill Nelson day. I, you know, just not that I'm anybody. But think about it. I'm on your radio show, the publisher recycled sorta politics, I never heard from Bill Nelson wants I mean, if you're you're I can tell you how hard it was to get him on the show during hurricane Michael when he didn't have any official role. Really like governor Scott did or mayor Gillam did. And it was like pulling teeth to get them to come on which basically free airtime just to give constituents. An update on what he was doing. Yeah. I just I thought I thought Nelson was the I ran amok. He ran a terrible campaign and Dylan was a I don't wanna see it was a terrible candidate. Because everybody keeps thinking, oh, this is some sort of racial thing. Black versus no good candidate. Lots of baggage. The FBI. And then started leaking that backout. Yup. And there was no answer for the trips to New York it just scared off enough. You know, swing voters maybe twenty five fifty thousand just scared him off at the end. And the momentum was stop don't don't tell me that Bob buckhorn couldn't have defeated either. Rick, Scott or Rhonda Santa's? You know, it's like the eagles saints game last night that got catches that intercept that pick six and takes it back in the game is over right for the eagles. And it went right through his finger. I think it's the same thing here where you wanna say could it would've shoulda? I will say that my thinking, I'm with you. I am with where if you had one of the Bob buckhorn Gwen grams up there, they would have beat the same. But now, I'm starting to wonder what if the Rhonda Santa's we've seen over the last week was the one that would have been there in the general election. Yeah. Hadn't felt like Audi felt threatened. So if if he's if he's doing against one of these to be going against Gwen Graham, maybe he shows the same energy, focus and attention to detail that we didn't really see in the primary emerging the general election. So maybe Gwen Graham and Bob buckhorn would have ended up right work is I don't know. I I'm just so impressed with his first week that I don't wanna under..
