How to Develop Any Skill and Excel at It by Nick Velasquez

"An excerpt from the book, learn improve master, how develop any skill and excel at it by of Alaska's. Have you ever watched a talented guitarist perform or a star chef cook an incredible meal and think to yourself I'd like to do that. Were drawn to learn a new skill but most of the time our motivation stems from seeing the work or performance of those who are great at it. We see their abilities and action and fantasize about how good it would feel to be the ones doing it. We are only looking at a part of the picture, the performance and not the years of study practice and effort behind it. Taking the time to get the full picture and explorer skill before diving in benefits us in four ways, the gives us a reality check houses t construct the craft primes the mind to learn and leads to better questions all of which help us determine if we want to devote our time energy to the skill. Each of these benefits can help us decide if we want to commit to learning a new skill or for content to simply in Meyer, the work of the masters. Benefit number one gives us a reality check. Many, people take the guitar drums or other instruments with the dream of playing live in front of a cheering audience. But the path to that goal is usually through thousands of hours of solo practice followed by more hours, composing refining and rehearsing songs playing live usually accounts for a fraction of was involved in play an instrument by not looking deeper we miss what's behind the performances, the endless hours of practice, a years of study, the discipline, the sacrifices, and in some skills, the physical toll on the body. Taking the time to explore the work behind the show serves as a reality check and forces us to ask is this what I really want to do. This reality check can be motivating as we may realize are chosen. Craft is not what we're looking for or that we don't want to do the practice it requires but knowing what the skills about how it's practiced and work and take us can also make it more appealing. The point is we need to explore it to find out. Benefit number to help us deconstruct the skill. Exploration is also way to discover the different parts that make up the craft. There are these sub skills, techniques and principles that comprise it learning to play the guitar. For example, involves Music Theory Scales Chords Picking Technique and left-hander finger dexterity among other things and those parts have sub parts. Intern scales are divided into major or minor pentatonic, and so on me to deconstruct chosen skill and become familiar with the different elements involved doing. So will help us develop a better plan for which wants to focus on in what order and how to approach them. There's a lot to learn in a craft, and if we don't break it down and focus on what matters most given, moment will drown in its magnitude. Benefit number three prime the mind to learn. Exploration Brings Perspective context and purpose to the day to day learning and practice the grind and how they fit into the overall craft. When we see the big picture is easier to stay motivated and internalized smaller pieces and sub skills. Take Rock, climbing, for instance, rope work in tying knots in important part of the sport. If we start learning those pars without knowing their role, the information remains abstract and hard to memorize more even boring. Is when we understand their use and how they fit into rock climbing when we see the context and purpose around them that we become engaged primer mind to learn them. Benefit number four leads to better questions. Lastly, exploration allows us to ask better more specific questions about the skill because we know what to ask about, and we are delving into writing and ask how do we become a good writer. We'll get the answer, right a lot and read a lot. That's good advice, but it's also vague and it is so because the question is vague if we ask instead how to energize a piece of writing, we'll get something like speed up the pace by shorting sentences using frequent paragraph ING and cutting most adverbs adjectives. That's the power of asking better questions. We get specific answers tailored toward goals and circumstances, but we can't ask them if we don't build basic knowledge I, that's where exploration comes then. With, an overview of our chosen craft will develop enough understanding to ask those questions and get better answers. Map out the path to success. When pursuing a new skill is a simple fact that we won't succeed if we aren't willing to put in the work to improve as benefits show exploring skill before making a commitment to it is an effective way to gauge interest motivation and ability to pursue the skill to our greatest ability.

A New Way To Respond To Old Problems

"Another way that you can make a day better if it's not going to good. Are Actually, you don't even have to wait for it not to go good some of these things if we would do them on a regular basis, we wouldn't experience as many bad days and have to fight them off how about doing something new that will keep your life from being stale and stagnant because nothing has changed for the last twenty five years. I'M GONNA. If you don't like change well, get ready for. Boring. And then. If, we stop learning and growing were breathing but not truly alive. Joyce Meyer said. Oliver Wendell Holmes said a mind stretch by new experience can never go back to its old dimensions. Now, I believe that learning. Can actually add a little exciting element. To our life every day maybe the biggest thing we need to learn is a new way to respond to old problems. So here's a little story for you. Once upon a time complained or father that her life was miserable and she just didn't know how she was going to make it. She said I'm tired of fighting struggling all the time. It just seems after one problem is solved. Another one comes right on top of our father who was a chef took her into the kitchen and filled three pots with. Water placed each one of them on a high fire wants a three pots began to boil. He placed potatoes in one pot eggs in the second pot and ground coffee beans in the third pot it then let them sit and boyle without saying a word, his daughter, the daughter Moan and Groan complain and she was impatient wondering what was he doing after twenty minutes? He turned off the burners It took out the potatoes. Put them in a bowl full the eggs out, put them in a bowl. Then he ladles some of the coffee out into a cup turn into her and ask his daughter. What do you see? She's potatoes, eggs, and coffee look closer. He said touched the potatoes touched the eggs, SIP the coffee. So she did in noted that the potatoes. were. Soft. Go take an egg and break it and after pulling off the shelves she observed that it was hard. He Nice go to sip the coffee and it brought a smile. The rich aroma brought a smile to her face. Father what does this mean? What are you trying to teach me? He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and the coffee at each face the same adversity, the boiling water however. Each one reacted differently the potatoes went in strong and hard and came out soft and weak the egg one in fragile with a thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior. But when it was put in the boiling water, it came out hard. However, the coffee beans were unique after they were exposed to the boiling water they change the water and created something new. So when you have. Problems and you know we do have problems and. I'm well aware that some of you have some serious problems going on in your life right now. and. If you're not in this building, surely many watching TV I've gone through. Terribly difficult times in my life, but we have to be so careful that our problems don't make us. We can win be where we don't just start having a give up attitude. and. Then we also want to make sure they don't make hard and harsh. Leave us with a bitter attitude. What we WANNA do we have problems is let God use them to change us and then let us change the world around us because of what God has

Big Ten football still waiting on final decision after presidents meet

"Next topic has to do it is the big 10 going to come back this season? Better late than never met, shaking Byron Metcalf Sunday morning got ESPN radio, the DSP adapt and serious sex and channel 80 thrill that have on Heather Ditch, ESPN college football playoff end college football reporter as well. So Heather yesterday the games were almost a secondary topic to what was going on on social media with regards to the Big 10 and perhaps a vote coming as soon as today about returning to play. What is the latest give us much background as you can. For those that are kind of in the dark on why the big 10 might be coming back soon. Sure so on Saturday, the athletic directors and doctors who comprise a medical sub committee of the Big Ten's return to competition task force Presented a lot of medical information to eight presidents and chancellors. Who are another subcommittee, right? You need a flow chart for all this stuff, has subcommittee So basically a bunch of athletic directors and doctors presented a lot of medical information to part of the presidents and chancellors, which are essentially like a buffer group right and it went very well from what sources have told us. So now that's kind of the first step. Now. Today everyone meets guys. I would love to be on this new meeting because it's like everyone in the big 10 is going to be on it. Except for the coaches. It's all Of their doctors off their sub committees and all 14 presidents and chancellors, And today they moved beyond just the medical piece and they start to look at. How do you actually return? When do you return? And what are the medical benchmarks needed that each team has to pass to actually get back on the field. So they have looked at at least four rapid and engine testing models that weren't there previously weren't available when they last decided to postpone the season. And now they've got a look at some dates, right? Some more substantial information in terms of logistics, as when do you get back? Mid October late October. What is all that look like now? Whether or not they actually vote? Nobody has any idea. Even those presidents, right? Yes, they can vote, and if they do vote, they need at least nine of them to agree to return. According to the big tent by law, and that means that six of those presidents and chancellors would have to change their minds from their original vote in August. To postpone. Maybe they don't vote. I think there's a certainly a good possibility. They don't Maybe they push it to tomorrow. Maybe they have more questions. We're talking about university president here. There's no telling what they might do, and even they don't know, but they certainly could vote. Magic Meyer Metcalf Sunday morning on ESPN radio. There is some sort of clicking noise on the end of their phones. So whether we want to call you back to make sure that we can hear everything you're saying clearly we picked up everything there. And I think the bottom line is my right. There are a lot of subcommittees. A lot of tax forces. There are a lot of people talking and maybe because of all that, maybe finally, the right people are going to be talking to each other today for the first time, or at least in the last 20 for the next 24 hours. Communication's been the biggest thing right at the end of the day. What people have been saying from day one is can you tell us exactly what happened? The process was there of all. What was the vote? Can you give us information? And perhaps the big 10 has reached that point where they are sharing information with the proper folks. I wanted this to medicine that feels like me to me. This is it? I mean, if you vote today, whatever this weekend and you come out, saying, we're not playing, that could mean you're not playing all year in my pin because we have no guarantees in January or anything like that. So this feels like perhaps the last chance. To get football going in the big team. All right, So we got Heather damage back. So, Heather on the heels of what you just said, and they're gonna have another vote sometimes soon. My question has to do with the fact that they're gonna have to have six presidents change their votes. Now, if the president's If they change their votes do they have to play like in a sense? Could Rutgers say yes, will agree that we can return to play But we are not going to play personally. Is that something that could happen? Yes, Absolutely. And I think that's a very good possibility. Maybe they come out of this and unanimously say Okay, we all agree. If you want to return you can, but we're not going, Teo. The question then becomes How many teams do you need to play? What's that line? Right Where you say, Okay, We don't have enough or all right. We can continue without the two of you. I mean, remember Michigan and Michigan State has presidents who are at an epidemiologist and an infectious disease expert. So there's a very real possibility that Michigan Michigan State Rutgers I mean, here in here in Maryland, where there's no margin for error with any soon, Nathalie tells after what happened with Georgia McNair two years ago, I would be surprised if Maryland Voted in favor of that their president. I can't say that for sure. I'm just taking an educated guess here, But you have to consider that each university is different under different leadership with different scenarios, and we heard how strongly Rutgers president earlier this week called Donald Trump's involvement in the politics. That was his phrase, he said, I'm not going to change my vote based on political interference in this So every president has their own thoughts on this, But yes to answer your question. It's certainly possible that they agree to play in some school say thanks not for us. None of this makes sense to me unless there's some attachment to the college football playoff. What are the chances that The big 10 could still participate in that if they make a decision here today. I think it's a good possibility, and it's the timing of it is what's critical. If you're talking about mid to late October. It's certainly possible for them to get in at least an eight game conference schedule. And have their conference championship game. December 19th and selection day for the playoffs is December 20th. So that is a very realistic possibility. And everybody in the country knows Ohio State is a good enough team. To be part of that conversation. The question is do the three other commissioners who are already playing Probably in the big 12 John Swofford in the Sea. And Gregg. Thank you and the SEC. Do they go for that? I think they would. I genuinely think that they would But once you get past that October resumed a then it gets really tricky unless realistic.

Yahoos Ugly Death

"The name is synonymous with a time when all of our lives were simpler when facebook was an actual books full of students faces computers made weird sounds when the connected to the Internet and downloading a one minute long video can take all night. Eddie tight yet who was one of the four or five most popular websites in the world with billions of views, every month and evaluation well, over one hundred, billion dollars. But as the two thousands turned into twenty tens, the web changed massively and your who was faced with the difficult task of changing with it. Their web portal service model was going out of fashion. We all moved to g mail and Google Search, McCain the front page of the Internet. Despite the fact that ask Jeeves was obviously way better. Many of Yahoo's services remained relatively popular, but they were no longer trendsetting no longer growing and the company's market capitalization dropped to a fraction of what it once was any remnant of the mindshare or what we might refer to as v Cultural. Capital they once held fell off. So to those of us on the outside yeah, who's fall seemed utterly quiet gradual and most of all inevitable but was it really Forget what you think. You know at least for a moment and consider this from the peak of the DOT COM bubble. Some say the beginning of the end for Yahoo to two thousand, eight, their revenue increased tenfold that success was no fluke either as print publishers struggled with the incoming revolution of online advertising, Yahu was very much on top of it. They were positioned Willie enough that when Microsoft attempted to buy the company for forty, five, billion dollars in. Two Thousand and eight CO founder and CEO Jerry Yang swiftly rejected the offer it was over the following few years that things would start to ten at the company transitioned through five different CEOS in just four years, and in the meantime Google took over the Internet. This would seem like the end of the story except in two thousand and twelve yen made arguably the most significant tire in its history and new CEO who could finally get things going again. Marissa Mayer. was distant for such a role from the beginning. Some college students have hard time in the job market, but after completing her degree at Stanford, Marissa was offered fourteen different jobs including teaching Gig at Carnegie Mellon One of America's leading engineering schools and consulting role at Mackenzie. Arguably, the world's premier consulting for the Young Maria turned down both those offers to become the twentieth employees at a fledgling startup called Google. At Google, she was star in fact, there's hundred percent chance you've run into her work. She oversaw the design of Google's homepage. It's difficult to overstate the importance of Edwards to the Internet as a whole and to the company itself to give you some sense of it. Fires raging near Sumner, south of Seattle

"The Sumner grade wildfire destroyed four homes while moving in a Bonny Lake late Tuesday. Hundreds of families forced to evacuate in a hurry. Almost calling Johnson with Mohr from around the region have arrived here to help there is a state mobilization, too. Control the fire, which has calmed down dramatically from yesterday, Gusty winds were driving flames across the hillside of Jason for 10. There have been no injuries to report as yet, but the air quality is pretty bad up here, creating a blanket of smoke across the Southern Valley and Reading West. I'm now up in Bonnie Lake and just met the question family as they were packing up to head south cats. You're tryingto, you know, containing the car and Children and you're like, you know what are the most important things that I feel like? I need to just shove in my car. Alison told me they spent the last two nights in their car in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Oh, the level three evacuation order. Still, in effect. They're gonna have the ground his house and just pray. They're home is still here when they get back.

Nintendo marks the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. with games, products and in-game events

"Finally after many months of rumors the Mario Three. D. Packages collection officially announced surprise announced by Nintendo. This morning along with a bunch of other Mario announcements to coincide with his thirty fifth anniversary so. Super Mario Three D all-stars collection announcer switch mireles sixty four miles sunshine. Mario Galaxy out very soon. September eighteenth lots of people are. Apparently excited for it. pre ordering the game right now as we speak But there are also some reasons to maybe be a little bit irked. About the whole situation here some people are wondering why there's no more got institute in the collection. Some people were hoping for a little bit more Polish they're not remakes their ports of his games and also apparently they're only going to be available until March thirty first of next year package deal. Package and then what? Nobody knows what the future holds. Okay. The sunshine is in wide screen. It's and sixteen by nine and I think that's the only change like otherwise supporting the game's over Is Sixty four, sixty, four in screen. Also right now, I don't think so. Weird. Really In the trailer, they filled it into end with their. Is. Showing it they zoomed then yeah. They must have because I I i. think they explicitly said that only sunshine has been made wide-screen man that's so strange. They did that with band Kazoo just fine on the on the xbox a once and that was an Stevenson. I don't so much mind playing the original sixty four. My my only concern is, what have they done anything with the camera like the actually given it a camera that you can control. I'm sure the. It's like that will make that game. That's that's what makes that game hard to play for me the Federal Ian Control the camera I don't think it's that bad I. Don't think it's a it's a showstopper but I do know that the C- stick version of stuff was Kinda strange lot of the time to cameras a lot of work for you. It's definitely definitely feels like a different era of game, but it's nothing like playing rugby but one now or something like that. Yeah. I replayed my sixty four recently and That's one of my favorite games of all time. So I know inside now but yeah, you definitely spend a lot of time fighting the camera and. Many companies including Nintendo figured out how to do three camera in in the years after my sixty four, it came out. Yeah. Ahead. Okay. I I'm I'm a little bit down on this news. My Galaxy to is incredibly underrated and I think incredibly underplayed. Absence kind of baffling and inexplicable I understand why three world is not included because. They Nintendo does have sort of cottage industry of porting over we you games onto the switch and it's coming. You know what? You're probably GONNA get to it's coming as its own you know sort of full-fledged for. You know no three d land from the three s in no especially no Mario Galaxy to. Is a big bummer for me Instead of these three games, sixty bucks, you know some of which are over twenty years old in the case of Mario Sixty four it's a new bums me out like I I I'm I'm a little underwhelmed to. Sam How you feeling about. I it's amazing. I don't really like Meyer. Galaxy. Mario OCCC two. So I don't really care about those games but I really really really WANNA play sixty four on the go always, and then sunshine is ordering my favorite Games ever I. think it's so great. I'm worried about like I'll try galaxy again, but it's a little bit too acrobatic. Kind of run to the end of the level based for me and I think it's really cool. For what it is, but I like the more explorer type stuff goes no I think that I'm really confused about what they'll do because a lot of things just requires you to point at something and like shake we remote to just a lot of that in that game and so I guess we'll just change with button prompts where you'll dislike head you'll jump from planet to planet to planet the planet. Because there, there's a lot of like Gimmickry in that game for the we remote, they clearly will have to take out the the the two players stuff, and I'm saying that fully knowing that the switches capable of point controls, just half of the switches out there don't have those the system they address that you actually they re say you will have to buy a set of joy cons if you want to go. On and you can sink joy cons to your this which led yeah. Don't get. So maybe they'll have those options and then they'll also have the ability to change. Turn them off which be cool Yeah like I. This collection is just one of the things today and everything that that was announced. It was just like the coolest. coolest. That I wish was at an e three so I can walk around and see that booth.

Living Courageously: The Fear of Failure

"We're GONNA talk about today the fear of making mistakes. I think sometimes to be honest that we are so accustomed to letting fear rule us that we don't even we don't even really realize that's what's going on. You know just because you feel afraid that doesn't mean that you get to not do what God's asking you to do. Hello. We have to learn how to confront figure. The biggest mistake that we can make is always being afraid that we're going to make a mistake. Now did you hear me the biggest mistake that we can make is always being afraid That we're going to make a mistake. What is this fear of? FAILURE ROOTED IN A. It triggered an insecurity. We need to be right all the time to feel okay about ourselves. We think that being right all the time is, what gives us great reputation with people. If. I'm right all the time and I don't make mistakes then I'm going to impress people. You know not one of us has ever really free until we're free from the need to impress other people. Until. You're free to live your life and not have to be overly concerned about what other people think of every decision that you make. Now like I said last night you know only a fool wouldn't want anybody to like I mean we want people to like us. We should want to please people but not at the cost of displeasing God. Are Denying our own destiny. Insecurity is a psychological problem epidemic proportions. There are so many insecure people in the world and so many people that lack confidence and they're all bumping into each other and giving each other problems. You know if I'm insecure and you're going to be in relationship with me then it has to be your job to make me feel good about myself all the time. And it won't be long and that's just GonNa wear you completely out if I'm in relationship with somebody that's insecure and fearful. I have to walk on eggshells all the time to make sure that I say the right thing don't say the wrong thing don't look at them the wrong way. Make sure I compliment them on every little thing that they do and pretty soon I feel like all my time is taken up and keeping this insecure person fixed. Come on how many fresh fixes do you need every day. Of compliments and hand claps. To feel good about yourself. You know we all need to be encouraged, but we need to not crave it. We need to not have to have it in order to get through the day and I've kind of learned what I really feel like I need to be encouraged. I used to get mad at Dave of he wasn't encouraging me. I don't do that anymore. I go to God now and ask him to encourage me and. AND TO BE HONEST Is Not just supernatural thing I. Probably, not feeling courage God will work through somebody. And he may work through Dave. But if I try to make it happen then Dave feels manipulated and controlled and pretty soon they resents me come on is anybody home out there today? But if I go to garden, got puts it in his heart. Then it's a real thing coming out of his spirit. And things begin to change you need to be careful if you're always getting mad at other people because they're not making you feel good about yourself. while. Shouldn't people encourage me Yeah, but I'm telling you you gotta go to God. God is in Salt and when we bypass him and try to make people give us what God wants us to get from him. God wants our security to be in him. And Him. Not In, anything else. So Philippians chapter three verse three. Or we Christians, or the true circumcision. Who Worship God in spirit and by the spirit of God. And we Exalt and glory and pride ourselves in Jesus Christ. Now, he's already saying our total worth value is in Christ we have to realize that we're what I call everything nothing's. We're everything in Christ and nothing without him.

Germany promises Elon Musk full support to get Tesla's Berlin plant ready

"Moving onto the stock, then volatile day for the Nasdaq and for Tesla Tesla finished down five point eight percent on the day to four hundred and forty seven dollars thirty seven cents. So just a bit above where the split happened at around four forty two but that did compared to the Nasdaq finishing up one percent today. So this provides a good illustration of the potential downsides of the at the market structure that Tesla has employed for this potential up to five. Billion, dollar capillaries that we had talked about yesterday. The stock is now down about ten percent from when that agreement was put in place, which demonstrates the risk of not just raising at that fixed price at the time. Of course, with the structure, you have to be comfortable with that risk and presumably not wanting to raise that money badly enough to do it at a lower price and status giving yourself the option if the price stays at that level or goes. Hi. I'm not sure currently on whether we get any sort of updates or when we get updates on whether or not Tesla has issued new shares as a part of that equity distribution agreement. So I'll try to do a little bit more digging on that but if anyone has the insight on that, please let me know for now though because the stock has fallen would be surprised if they have acted on that and issued any new shares we did have just. A couple of pieces of news specifically related to the stock today one is from significant Tesla investor Baillie Gifford. An investment firm that has for a long time held greater than five percent of the outstanding shares up Tesla stock that five percent level requires additional disclosures around trades with the SEC. So in an SEC, filing baillie Gifford has disclosed that their ownership stake in. Tesla has dropped below five percent of the company. I would assume the selling has been happening for. As has been dramatically rising, of course. So for firms that already had a significant portion of their portfolios in Tesla, it just becomes too overweight and they end up trimming it back to add more diversification to their portfolio. See the same sort of stuff from our best Baillie differed managing partner James Anderson said quote. The substantial increase in share price means that we needed to reduce our holding in order to reflect concentration guidelines which restrict the weight of a single stock in clans portfolios. However, we intend to remain significant shareholders for many years. Ahead, we remain very optimistic. About the future of the company, Tesla no longer faces any difficulty in raising capital at scale from outside sources, but should there be serious setbacks and share price. We would welcome the opportunity to once again increase our shareholding. We are privileged to have been decimals largest external shareholder over a period for the development of the company. We are mentally grateful for the extraordinary efforts and achievements of Tesla and driving forward a transportation and energy revolution in the face of persistent skepticism and often downright hostility without tussles efforts. The possibility of hurting climate disaster would have been significantly reduced and. So pretty strong statement there from Anderson I think safe to say that Baillie Gifford is not reducing their position Tesla due to any perceived weakness in the company rather just their funds management structure. In other news on the SOX Today Bank of America analyst Jon Murphy has increased his price target from three hundred, fifty dollars per share to five hundred and fifty dollars per share I believe that the second highest now on the street in terms of a base case Murphy noted the strength into the underlying business that the high stock price affords. Tesla. Saying that it creates A. Positive feedback loop due to the low cost of capital that Tesla has available to it. Through follow on offerings I would definitely agree with that positive feedback loop that helps Tesla not only raise capital, but it should help them get better terms on debt perceived strength of the business by the market can help desolate negotiations with suppliers. Again, especially, help confidence in customers Tesla's can exist going. Forward to service their vehicles, if they do decide to purchase and hey, it's probably helped a lot of investors be able to afford the product, which is also not a bad thing i. think the downside is that with a high stock price, there's potentially less upside available. So it can be a little bit more difficult to acquire talented recruit talent because you don't really have that one. Hundred X upside in the stock anymore like you might add twenty billion or thirty billion. There are offsets to that too though of course, some of that reduced upside comes alongside reduced risk, which is also important in making career decisions anyway back to the Bank of America note, despite the two hundred dollar price target increased to five fifty Murphy does maintain a neutral rating on the stock. Living Courageously: Do you seek the praise of man or God?

"I want you to think about the courage that it took for some of these people that we read about in the Bible to do the things that they knew. How much courage did it take for esther to go into that palace? How much courage did it take for ruth not to run back to, her idol worshiping family. But to stay with her poverty stricken mother-in-law after her husband and her father in law and brother in law had died. How easy is it to go? Do the easy thing is sort of doing the hard thing. How easy would it have been for Moses to have stayed in the palace instead of trying to help his brother? How easy would it have been for Paul to have had a little secret relationship with Jesus? Well, you know I just believe religion is a private thing. You just try to find that the Bible. I'll be happy to have the discussion with you everybody who got radically saved immediately went and told somebody. Let. Me Tell you something you love Jesus. You have a hard time keeping your mouth shots. John Twelve forty two. John Twelve forty two and in spite of all this many even the leading men the authorities and the nobles believed and trusted in him him being Jesus. So they believed in him. But because of the Pharisees. They did not confess it for fear that if they would acknowledge him, they would be expelled from the Senate. Gone. Well. You know what? Even if you do you put out of your church because you get a little too radical. To be honest. To be the best thing that ever happened to you. Why in the world would anybody want to tell you that you're excited about Jesus? You need to calm down. About Jesus. Burst, forty, three and four. They loved the approval and the Praise and glory that come from men instead of and more than the glory that comes from God. They valued their credit with men more than their credit with God. You a question. Are you more concerned about your relationship, your reputation here on earth and you are your reputation in heaven? Think. We all have a reputation in heaven. Some are a little more well known than others. Now. My being honest here comes. I believe that some of you here and some of you watching TV, you are so hungry for a deeper relationship with God. I mean, you're disliked. Man there is something missing. But to find out what it is, you're GONNA have to get out of the boat. Might have to go one of those radical Joyce Meyer Conference. I'm aware that some of you you you never been anything like this. You don't use the people making noise in church. You're not used to the kind of worship we had tonight you don't understand the lights the. Do we have fog machine denied on owner off but. Like this is not what I'm used to well that maybe the best thing that ever happened to you. Here again. I mean, no, we don't have to be noisy, but there's nothing saying that scares God if you make a little noise. I mean you can play with your head bowed your hands folded. You can probably look around you know we. We have these rules. That we put on things and anybody who doesn't do it our way they scare us. Who says you can't be excited about God.

Eurozone unemployment spike held down by support schemes

"A conversation about some of the states that we've been getting out of Europe and Caroline. Let's get Teo, the latest out of Germany, the German economy minister, as you mentioned just that Peter out. Meyer is expected to be speaking shortly, and he's going to give a new forecast for the German economy that we understand It's not going to be as bad as previously expected. Joining us now to continue the conversation, then from TV aspect to him earlier there on Bloomberg television below. Hafeez, the CEO of Macro Hive Bill are very good to speak to you and I want to know how we should look at Germany because the latest data suggests that they are being quite successful in bringing down that spike in unemployment that they saw. You didn't spike as high as other places because they have A furlough scheme in place. Of course, longstanding. Do we take comfort from the German scheme and say, Look at there for low we should all be doing that. Or do we worry about zombified cation of businesses that are supported that way? What is your take on that sort of macro event? You know, I think that's very kind of good observation. I mean, I do think that the German furloughs seems the way they do it with government effectively subsidizing workers that go do you shorter hours is works very well and I think it's something Germany has done. Couple times before, especially off 2008 national crisis. So it kind of works very well for the German later system, whether the country's replicate that it left clear But I do think that Germany at least it works very well. There is a broader question as you point out that this bomb verification and that's something we're really going to find out for the down the line in years to come. Andi. You know, Germany does face the loss of structural challenges. Whether that's also sector with the onslaught of electric cars and so on. You know, it's relationship with China is well, you know if the US doesn't push your further On the whole diversion story there that there are those sorts of challenges as well. I think that kind of loom quite large bowl for Germany. Interesting. I mean, there was talk in the UK to doing kind of sort of work week, going down to four days a week, for example, you know, just try to help the economy. But

"How many of you want to just pass through here unnoticed, but you want to make a mark in the world. And have people remember for a long time? You were here. Well. Don't discount yourself and think well, you know that that's only for the people on the platform or the people on television it's for every single child of God. God. Has Something for each of us to do. We have a part to play. You have something that nobody can do as good as you can do it, and if you don't do it. It's going to hurt all the rest of us. You never will be as excited as you will be if you are really in the middle of fulfilling your destiny. Nothing can ever make you as satisfied and fulfilled as knowing that you're chasing after God with your whole heart a man. But fear. Is Satan. Tool. Yes, it's from the devil for God has not given us a spirit of fear. Let's settle that. When you feel afraid is not God trying to tell you don't do that. That's not the way. God works God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power. And Love. And a sound mind. A man. So. When we feel fear, we can be pretty much assured. That is Satan trying to keep us from doing. What God would have us to do. What would be the best thing for us to do our? He may just be trying to make you miserable. The Bible says that fear, Hath Torment. Fear brings torment, and I've even discovered that dread which I believe is a very close relative of fear. A can also bring torment. I try to practice in my life not even letting myself dread things don't dread going to the grocery store and don't dread doing your dishes. I don't dread cutting the grass don't dread sitting down and paying your bills don't let that spirit of dread and fear get into your life know who you are in Christ know that you can do whatever you need to do through the strength of God that is in Mute and live with your head held by your shoulders back, walk strong and live courageously. then. It's time for the body of Christ to stand up and be counted and stop being wimpy whiny and. Having a problem with everything.

The Test of Faithfulness

"We've been talking about the different kinds of testings. That we go through that really are not bad things. A May seem to be bad while we're going through them because they're not real comfortable but uh, we usually learn later on. We, look back and we realized they were some of the best things. Ever happened to us in our life. and. I've been teaching off of the principle that before promoted, we always have to pass us. Where we're at and a lot of times we pray for promotion without realizing we're actually praying for tests. If you know if you pray for patients, you're GONNA get trials. If you pray to be more loving, you're going to get more people around you that are hard to love. I mean, it's true. You say we we don't just learn things. Because we pray for them. We learn things because God gives us something to practice on, and so we have all this wonderful fruit of the spirit in us. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in you all the fruit of the spirit comes in seed farm. And I love what the Bible says and. I John. It. Talks about how? The. Divine. Sperm of Almighty God is planted. Our spirit. And so I always like to say were pregnant with God. The divine sperm which Jesus Christ. The seat of God comes to live in us at the new birth. And so. A Sea of everything that God is is in each and every one of us, but we know that seed has to be watered. And so we do what we water it with the water of the word. And it has to have the right amount of sunshine. The right amount of rain. And it grows little by little little. And Pretty. Soon. Good things begin to pop out to you. But if you think about a pregnant woman, you can have a skinny little thing that is all excited and says I'm pregnant and you think well, you don't look pregnant to me. Sometimes, that's the way we are as new believers. We tell people. Oh, you won't believe what happened. They'll think well. You don't look any different sometimes in the very beginning, you don't even need. But something's happening inside. And the more that happens inside pretty soon, it's going to pop on the outside. And then people are going to begin to see it amen. But What you have to be in the meantime is what I want to talk about this afternoon. That's faithful. One person wants to hear my message. You. Know Faithfulness is on the endangered character list. I don't know if you realize it or not. But. We're. In serious trouble. In our society today. because. The things that we should be displaying the most similar to be disappearing more and more and more. All the time. and. I was talking to somebody about a week ago and I said I am so glad. That I got to be alive. In the days when people still had integrity. And if somebody did a job most of the time, they did it with excellence. When we were more concerned about quality than quantity. When even people that weren't quote saved? We're still. Pretty Nice. When people weren't so rude. When men didn't curse in front of women just out of respect. On. Not that they should be using bad language in front of anybody. But even if it was somebody who was not a believer and they used bad language, they wouldn't do it in front of a woman. There was respect. In the world and a certain amount of morality even among people that didn't claim. To Be Christians. I'm glad that I lived in the days when it was fairly common to hear people talking about God. I'm really glad that I didn't miss those times because I still have a lot of that in me and it makes me so sad. To see where our society. How far it's fallen in I would say especially the last thirty years. We're just on a steady decline. And I can tell you if anybody is going to model good character to the world, it's going to have to be the believers. because. The only place we can even hope to be taught that anymore throwing the word of God. And it's something we need to do a lot of teaching on. In our churches. People in always just need to hear how God wants to bless them. That's a good message. And it's wonderful to know how much God loves you and. What a great plan he has for your life but sometimes, we just need a little row royal spanking. A man. We just need to be reminded that we need to be. Hey, according. To Biblical

There's only one thing that you can do about forgiveness when you sin is asked for it receive it and be amazed. Did you hear me ask FARC? And be amazed. And I think if we would learn more about just receiving the goodness of God. We would live more amazed than I think we would be a lot happier than what we are. Right now. Anybody understanding? Receive like these little kids did tonight. I like that little boy I said who wants to money and he's in. I'll take it. I'll take it. I've just told, you know, the word says you're looking for somebody to bliss just want you to know here. I am. Do. Here. I am you say well that that doesn't that just doesn't sound right. You don't deserve that. Well, that's what makes it exciting. Is that we don't deserve. God's not looking for somebody. That's deserving. He's looking for somebody that knows they're not deserving, but by faith will receive anyway and gore fi God for everything he does in their lives. That's why it's so amazing. When you take somebody that has lived such an awful terrible ridiculously sinful life to watch them receive the forgiveness in the mercy of God MB changed into a new creature who can let go of the past and press onto the good things that God has how could you be anything but excited about that? And how could we not want to tell other people what God has done for us? Children. Have no problem receiving what they've not deserved or earn to receive once again means to act as a receptacle or a container. And to just permit to enter our to receive whatever is being offered. But to get means to come into possession of our to obtain to go after an obtained to take by force to seize to require as a result of action or effort. Now, the bible says that innovations to eight nine we want to look at this. It's our classic scriptures about salvation for it is by grace. God's unmerited favor that you are saved delivered from judgment and made a partake of Christ salvation through your faith, and their salvation is not of yourselves of your own doing it came not through your own striving. But it is the gift of God not because of works. Not the fulfillment of the laws demands. Lest any man should boast. It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do. It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do. No matter. How many good works? We did. We could never make up for our sin. Only Christ could do that. And he has already in fact done that. This is why the gospel is such good news that to be honest. It really makes no sense at all that there's so many unhappy Christians. I mean, you're not going to hell. That ought to be enough to keep us happy for a while. Hey, man, you know, there's a lot of talk today about the conditions in the world. And surely we're living in the end times. Jesus is coming soon. You know, what that doesn't frighten me at all? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready today. If he wants to take me. And that's a good feeling. I'm looking forward to the fullness. And the completion of all that God has for me. And you don't have to live in fear. If you know that you're born again. And if you don't know that you're born again, then we would love to help you tonight. And if you're watching television, and you don't have the assurance of salvation and you want to receive Christ as your savior, call the number on your screen right now. And somebody at my off was we'll pray with you and lead you by faith into a relationship with Jesus Christ. So

Now, here's Joyce with today series. Busy going nowhere. One of my daughters in particular was extremely messy guess organized, very forgetful and irresponsible, and I thought for sure that when she did ever leave home. That she would lose herself. And not even know where she was. And the thing that is. So funny is now that that daughter is my oldest daughter. Her name is Laura she actually she gave herself a title. She calls herself the mama jer because she manages me and my life. He takes keep takes care of all of our bills. Bronze all my errands. She keeps up with so many things for me. And she does such a phenomenal job her. And I were just talking the other day. And she said, you know, I think even for me taking on this responsibility. And seeing that God has anointed me to do. It has really helped me to grow up and even feel better about myself. You'd be surprised sometimes things that you're able to do if you'll just take a risk and step out and try to do them. I would have never in my wildest imagination ever thought that she would be taken care of me because I didn't think she. You could even take care of herself. So I'm telling you this. So you have hoped for your children that no matter where they're at now. Are gonna get a lot better. Hey, man. If you want to enjoy your life, I want you to listen, I'm getting ready to say you have to love people where they are not where you want them to be. Did you get that? You love them where they are not where you want them to be. That's exactly what Jesus does for us. He meets us where we're at in loves us where we're at. And then because of that unconditional love we respond to it by then warning to be all that he wants us to be if you give people the right amount of love and acceptance, there are a lot more likely to want to give you what you want. And if you try to force them all the time to change, another huge what I would call work of the flesh is trying to change yourself now that may sound a little bit odd because you hear preaching, and you need to do this you need to do that. And I've been telling you how you need to go home and walk in the fruit of the spirit, and how you need to go home and help other people in every single bit of that is true. But here's the problem. If you go home and try to do it without getting God involved. You're not. Going to succeed. Works of the flesh is either some plan we've come up with trying to make something happen in our life. That God is not giving us the direction to do. Our? It can be something that God has directed us to do. But we're trying to do it without God's hill. And we need to realize that no matter how many times we been successful at doing something every time you try to do it. Again, you still need. God's help. I have preached thousands.
