Does Joe Biden Need to Pick a Black VP?
"About Joe Biden. Hey. Hasn't picked a running mate yet. So we're asking What if he doesn't get a black woman? Does he need to pick a black woman? That is the question? Yes, I'm sure he has already picked it up. But, you know, Ah, Red flags were raised last week when Gretchen Whitmer governor, Michigan actually flew to Delaware and met with Joe Biden face to face night. I also did hit the center, The Kamala Harris of fluid Delaware as well and met with him face to face with the problem I have is No press came out about that meat. But all the press came out about Gretchen All you see, and I saw a woman with a black woman he did. He did me with camel hours face to face. Yes, but you didn't see that. Everything is very supposed to be very secretive about what they do. It's I don't know why it's not coming out there, and things aren't they're acting like it is like the meetings are secret. And it's positive press progression. Negative press fall of black women candidates, You know what I'm saying? Let's go.

Who is Alex Cintrón, the Astros hitting coach who instigated brawl with the A's?
"Brawl in baseball yesterday. Ramona Reynaud went right after Alex Cintron, who is the head coach for the Houston Astros, And this whole thing was bizarre to Maine. We know that there is a beef between the athletics and the Astros. Mike Fires used to pitch for the Astros was on the on the athletic still is on Lorraine. Oh, gets hit twice in the Siri's that the 2nd 1 I didn't see the first of the 2nd 1 was not intentional. But he was walking to first base is so John boy pretty much tryingto figure out what was going on. And I guess Laredo was trying to tell the picture had to throw the ball. Cintron asked, get suspended from saying his name correctly, If now I apologize, but the bench the hitting coach has to get suspended, has to get a lengthy suspension. Because he is basically egging on Lorraine. Oh, who's at first base? And it was gutless. What the hitting coach did he goes? Oh, yeah. You come over here You come over here. The guys 41 years old, if this is not A 60 70 80 year old heading coach. This is not who is the Mets pitching coach? That's your Phil Regan. This's not him or or the late. Great Don Zimmer with Pedro Martinez, where you see potentially an older person get thrown to the ground. That was not this. This a 41 year old yellow Nazareno basically, Tom come over and fight him, and he did the ultimate Gutless move off. I'm going to tell you to come fight me. But the minute when you take a step forward three for my players are going to step in front of me. And then I'm going to become Mr Hold me back, bro. Type of guy. That's the worst person in a fight. Someone that instigates the fight and then doesn't throw the punch and doesn't actually fight when someone comes charging at you because of you just being ridiculous in the dugout. That guy doesn't get popped if Joe Kelly gets it with what it was an eight game suspension. If this is it, the heading coach here for the Astros doesn't get At least eight games, then that's ridiculous. Albay have no clue how to figure this out. They'll mess it up. Did you agree with that? Then we have a heading coach, basically telling Laredo to come over and fight him. Or Laureano. Excuse me. To come over and fight him. And then he lets what 34 of his players take care of it that was weak. Yeah, it's weak and it's like extra dumb when the league is begging you not to have a bench clearing altercations, and then you instigate won as a coach, not even a player for seemingly I don't even understand the reason. And it even begins. So, yeah, you would think he's going to be in big, big trouble, too. We

What's AH, in your mind what's driving the decision? Why are they so doubtful that they can move Can't move forward with some quarantining? Well, first of all, guys, I participated in a zoom meeting with the new Michigan state head football coach Mel Tucker. Last Friday, and at that particular time coach Tucker was cautiously optimistic that the protocols that were set up would be successful and again. I say cautiously optimistic because he realised, of course, a za nation were at the mercy of this dreaded virus. Well, as you pointed out at the outset of our conversation, Big 10 presidents voted 12 to yesterday to end the fall sports in the conference and look guy. Here's the thing. I'm sure like me. There's not gonna be college football this year, and the question is, why would there be

Yeah, we were there early and still still big believers. Yeah I mean what was it? That got you into everything being was just the sort of request to optimize your personal health. It was an actually that would be a little bit more glamorous but it was really about vanity I had I had reached a weight loss plateau. It wasn't really overweight and in any way because I've been biohacking and sort of. been. In, and out Akita Genyk. Diet. Really since the eighties with the Atkins Diet but I had been eating a lower car diet for quite some many years. So it wasn't really overweight but I really wanted to lean out. And I I was at a weight loss plateau and low carb just wasn't doing it, and so that's I experimented with Kito that way and then the weight loss went away pretty quickly as it tends to do for most people in fact, lost a lot more weight than I had anticipated. And then sort of what I thought was a set point and a place I wanted to be but I continued the Ketogenic Diet in fact. Double down on it and really became therapeutically Ketogenic, which is different than Akita. Diet. or a modified Keto Diet, which is the way I would describe my diet today but. But I experimented with really therapeutic Ketogenic, which is super high fat and and and a lot of blood testing and a lot of kind of quantification and. You know the cognitive benefits for me. became. So extraordinary that I just stayed on the Diet, even though I didn't have any plans of further white. House.

Tibetan Yoga for Health and Wellbeing
"Hi, Allie welcome to the PODCAST. I'm Madeo. Thank you very much for having me. I'm really excited to talk about we haven't had anybody on the podcast that is speaking directly to yoga and breath work in the way that you teach install very excited to have you today. Thank you I. You know excited and I, Love Hey House and. That last book of Tibet. The newer for health and wellbeing. This is my passion. So yes, excellent. Excellent. There's a there's a number of things I'd like to talk about with you today including your. Your advice on integrating meditation and Yoga into our everyday life and are busy schedule as well as your work with Yoga and breath work in a clinical medical sending including with your with cancer patients. But I, I like to ask you about how you got here how we got here with you, and maybe we can start with your own yoga and meditation training under your revered teachers in Nepal and India. So can you give us a brief version of of how you began your studies to help us situate where you're learning has is coming from Sure sure. Emmy see how brief I can. So really when with the Tibetan tradition, it really started when I in my first trip to India in nineteen, eighty nine. And I was really looking for teacher. I wasn't sure if it was going to be an Indian teacher Tibetan teacher I was more familiar with the teachers I did get to meet with Yuji Christian motifs of not the famous one JD. Wonderful Yuji Chris for more and more. And then some g my analogy, and then actually when I met the two BETTON SAT in La. It really started inspiring me and particularly the way that. They had this devotion to the picture of its own is a Lama and I have to admit I didn't know too much about His Holiness yet. But then doing the trip. It was when he was. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize I was actually cashier at that time I remember reading that in the US favor now it's like Wow so happy a give my mom. My Dad had been awarded the prize and and and I said, I need to meet this man. In fact that evening they showed on the Indian TV. Heart of Tibet. That I la that was actually the forward or was by pressing Carter. And I. So I went from touch me to down silos where the Delilah was. It was. During that time, he was the fortieth anniversary of the children village. That's the first time I saw him talk. Then I went for you know a public interview and I kind of. was trying to be there as much as I could and at the same time I got my first. Personal teacher, which was you should origin. Bodies, Yogi. And he was particularly into the tradition of true and. Whether he was the Weatherman for the Dalai Lama. and. I started training with them I. Did my longer with him or started the non right ended up seventy slater finishing That really led me to come back towards t Tina where I'm originally from. And really start devoting a lot of time to practice and then was in ninety one that. I, I met a number no group chain that he came to Argentina I nine, hundred ninety and I am Alejandra can I can I just mention here that that sort of what you're talking about a little bit is that when the Tibet you mentioned that you met the Delami in in in northern India in Dharamsala. And this is after for our listeners who don't know the when the Dalai Lama a came into exile when he left Bet in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, nine, he and about two, hundred thousand. Refugees settled in the northern regions of India and where the Dalai Lama lived was Dharmsala, and so that was one of the first places that you went to in. That is sort of this hub of the Tibetan diaspora that is sort of surrounds the Dalai Lama, and then eventually Tibetans have gone of course throughout the world and there's two. Betton. Buddhist. Centers throughout the world and so you were kind of a beneficiary. You came along in nineteen, eighty, nine, nineteen ninety and started studying with some of these teachers who weren't only in India around the dilemma. But who had gone elsewhere you mentioned non-pwi Norbu Rhumba Jay who had gone to to Italy, and then there were other centers where you were living in Argentina. Yes, and so I. I did consider you know for for some time Don, Sala my second home I spend many months there. And that's where actually ish adorned pitches monastery wall. So. As, you said Dharamsala was this hub and I really considered my second home. I spent many months there intermittently going from there to other places and back, and that is really were you had his monastery and and. So meeting the Dalai Lama and trying to be as much as possible with them. But also really having a personal teacher like you should was really important to me so that when I came back to Argentina that I felt there was no one there in luckily I was wrong was a small. Karma Kagyu Center. And also kind of a unique center the first teacher I met when when I go towards. Metering And then Nunca Norman as I mentioned the Nunca over pitcher was a big change for me. In the way he taught. So the Tony Brooke he brought the teachings. Into everyday

COVID-19 relief bill negotiations fall apart as lawmakers remain divided
"Congressional leaders, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi met with the trump administration today for what we think was an eleventh round of face-to-face negotiations on another covid relief package for Americans who are out of work or otherwise up against it in the seventh full blown month of this pandemic Democrats offered to knock about a trillion dollars off of their relief bill, which should otherwise been pegged at three point four, trillion, the White House apparently said no to that offer. Many. The deadlines to replenish or extend the relief programs that Congress has passed in the past. Those have already come and gone deadline to continue paying the extra six hundred bucks and unemployment benefits that tens of millions of Americans have been relying on since they've been out of work that deadline came and went July thirty first. The deadline to extend the ban on people across the country that passed on July twenty fourth now as many as twelve million people or risk of losing their homes if they don't get help. Technically the paycheck protection program the Federal Loan Program to try to keep small businesses afloat. Technically, that program is still alive that program doesn't expire until tomorrow, but it does matter tomorrow. With all these federal leaf relief programs either collapsing on the verge of collapsing the trump administration is saying no to the Democrats compromise offer they've been making vague noises about the president trying to do some of these things by executive order the president talked about that tonight at his golf club in Bedminster but then quickly pivoted to spending the next half an hour remarks basically holding a very small campaign rally. Left unsaid at all was how he intends to muster the authority to try to do any of this single handedly since it's congress, not the president. That holds the power of the purse tick tock though in terms of how much Americans need relief right now, there's no end to this pandemic insight. The reason these things are expiring is because when they initially past people thought this would be over by now. It's nowhere near over Americans are suffering just as much as they were when these things were passed in the first place. How's this going to resolve? Joining us now is the Great James Clyburn South Carolina Congressman Chair of the House Select Committee Oversees Virus Relief Funds Congressman Clyburn. It's really nice to see you here. Tonight it's been too long since you've been here on the show I really appreciate you making time to be here. Thank you very much. Can you just give us your overview perspective on what you think is going to happen whether you think that these programs that so many Americans have been counting on will get extended what kind of lapse that will be looking at between those programs initially expiring and them getting re upped when ultimately some deal hopefully, it's worked out. I think we. WORKED OUT WE'LL be the tremendous amid of the week. Weekend. We will have. Some politicians tomorrow I think we're getting close to something happening. That will be beneficial to everybody. When the president talks about doing some of these things by executive order, I feel like I'm going back to my school house rock it's just I'm just a bill kind of basics about how the different branches of government work I mean the one thing the president doesn't have is the power of the purse when he says that he can do some of these things just by signing. An executive order when we're talking about, you know sending money to people weren't talking about an unemployment benefits boost when we're talking about changes around taxes that he's talking about, it doesn't seem to me that he has the power to do any of that as as president. But yet, the White House seems to think that that's a that's another way to get at the relief that's needed. The purchasing is saying that there is no congress, the acid deal with no people the he has to listen to He says these things up think as always throwing something up on the wall to see if it was. I think he knows better than this. The general owners that he issues have gone to court time and time again and they've been thrown back into his face as appointed time. I think he's get the message from the Courts as well. But keep working and we'll come to some agreement I. Wish that Mr McConnell or in the room so that we can get the legislative bodies together but he seems to have. Turned over to the White House, but we'll get something. You you sound confidence and that. Is booming to me because I feel like you're pretty clear eyed observer about what is capable what what Capitol Hill is capable of doing just ask what you would say to Americans right now who are really scared about not just the health aspects of this but the economic aspects of this I mean so many people that I know just in my personal life with their small business owners or whether they are employees of public or private entities. people are worried about whether or not the the economic. Blow that's been dealt to individual families into our country. Right now is something that we're going to recover from in the long run. How do you? How do you see that and? How do you think the government has done in terms of trying to fix some of these these wounds? People are worried and. Something, I'm worried. He got a really a pandemic, but then a pandemic here. When you really look at it they got a big healthcare crisis. They got an economic crisis, and as we focused on trying to do something about the economic crisis, the fact of the matter which are not yet it saw without solving this healthcare crisis. So it's a double whammy here. We have to try to operate knowing full well that you cannot operate within the silo here

Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood on Esports Betting, Cryptocurrency
"I have to imagine most of our audience has heard you to court at this point whether it was through the Mark Cuban investment ties to crypto currency, the websites, great content or the eastwards betting explosion. It can be hard to keep up with you to court at times you're doing so many different things. The company said Classic Eastwards. Headache has traditional sports. Offerings has ways for people to wager against their Fred has ways for Gabor's to bet on themselves by you. Mode at creates simulated competitions for potential wagers I know I missing some things even that log list what I miss about you accord that else that the companies also offer. well, I mean, look at you pretty much summarized that we are. We were at a sports entertainment platform. Basically, what we're building is the future of entertainment wagering like When you think about wagering in general, there's is various areas is. There, there's like casino bedding. There's. There's. Your typical physical location, you walk into a casino and you go to a slot machine and you do something they're on. So Las Vegas Type Entertainment, all of that is changing. and then there's like sports betting what does the future sports betting look like an online book making look like? An and Unicorn is effectively using east sports in video games to create this this new era of betting because people who play video games and who are into. East. Sports are not just you know they're not kids. They're they're getting older and you know people like myself who who's in. My mid forties. I love to play Games and I I love to bet on sports and so we're sort of building the future of this face definitely people betting on video. Fares log as video games have existed I. Certainly have bet ever since I had some money in my pocket, I was putting it down challenging by Fred's various video games being Iraq cade or back the Gabe Q. OF NFL street. If feels like a pretty natural expansion of what video games are, can you talk a little bit about? The ways that you give gamers a chance to better themselves so unique. Eastwards. Betty massive thing. I'm here base of us. Vegas. We've got monuments to the value of bedding. But. What does that intrinsic nature of betting that is provided by you modes of UNICORD's thanks. How is the company capitalizing on that? Shirt. So look you know when when you think about the different types of betting, there's there's essentially three different types one of the spectator wagering, which is like ords betting where you're betting against someone or not against your betting on a match on an event that's happening that you're watching. So for example, you're watching club nine versus whatever fanatic or whoever it is you. Can you can watch match and you can place a bet on it just like you can watch traditional sport, the seahawks versus the raiders place that on that that's spectator wagering and we do that we do that really well Then there's the skill bedding staff where where you can now bet on yourself in a video game on a game that you love to play. And no one's been able to solve this away Unicorn has The way it works is let's say you play a game fortnight or League of legends or Doda you can connect your favorite video game to the Unicorn Platform and we give you odds on yourself So you're basically instead of you betting against me met you're betting against yourself. Are you betting against the house really and you're betting on yourself and and we give you odds for you to be one of one hundred for example, in Fort Night and you can go and you can bet any can play that and that's considered a skill Within those two categories, we have different types of offerings that are very unique to Unicorn. So for example, on the spectator side, we have streamer betting where you can watch streamers and you can place bets on your favorites beamers. It's very cool. We also have virtual east sports where you can watch virtual matches twenty, four, seven of East sports and bet on those. and. Then on the skill side, we have you mode as you mentioned where you can connect your favorite video game the platform bet on. Yourself. Against the House but we also have money match where, for example, you can create a a game of NBA two K. or madden or something and then challenge someone on the Internet and and then just just bat and play. It's very cool. And then, and then the third type of betting is is casino betting, which is your traditional Casino Games. So you up those three. Unicorn has the most most breadth. of N depth of anybody in the space, we've really spent the last six years building building this out, doing it in a legitimate way doing it with full regulation mind I just thinking about where the future of of betting entertainment goes I. Think we built some some big value in the brand on and the company in the platform and is this next year is going to determine where that goes. Absolutely I want to talk about regulation a bit in the future as you

"We have Nicole buyer and says, here's a made a hello. Hello. Hello So I was looking a little bit at your social media presences and notice that you've taken up. Roller Skating Hell. Yeah. "WanNa Start where I always start which is how how if I ask you about be spiritual background of your childhood of your earliest life. However, you understand that word now where does that memory take you? Well I wouldn't have thought of anything spiritual when I was a child. Now my grandfather was a congregational minister. I never met him. We mom my sister. Came to live in this house for I. Am now with my grandmother and Moms two sisters. So was he the husband? Of Danny? Was He that other of your grandmother you call Danny as? He was the husband of Danny. "mets" Discussed on Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"We got the news about one o'clock today that yet. Another person untied to the Houston Astros. Cheating scandal has lost his job. Carlos Beltran recently hired by the mets to be there next managers out of his job before even having having a meeting in spring training. That's because he was named in. The Commissioner's report released the other day for his role in the Astros signed stealing scandal of two thousand seventeen eighteen Beltran and the mets both indicated. Today that this was a mutual decision but I suspect that a week or two weeks ago even those with knowledge of the science dealing details from two thousand in seventeen believed that Houston. GM Jeff Luneau Astros Manager Aj. Hinch Red Sox manager Alex Cora now Carlos Beltran would still have have their jobs and they're all out and that's where we are probably Vera covers baseball for ESPN. She knows. Carlos Beltran now score very well Marley. How you doing? It's been a crazy week. I think crazy is a very good adjective buster special like no that totally can managers. Were highly touted. I don't have a job today. Unbelievable let's let's start with Carlos Beltran. That is the the most recent news. I'm going to also ask you about Alex. Corsie is we go forward but but I about Carlos. I thought that when the mets didn't put out a statement immediately on Monday evening after the Commissioner's report came out out the fact that the mets didn't come out right away and have a statement from Jeff Wilpon from Brody Bandwagon. And saying this is our guy. Carlos Beltran is our manager edger. And that's what we're going to do moving forward because what was in the report involved the Houston Astros in two thousand seventeen. The commissioners made it clear that Carlos this is not going to be disciplined for his role in that because he's the player at that time but the fact that they didn't put out that statement on Monday and then dragged out into Tuesday day and then Wednesday. You could see that the mets they were weighing their options and just as someone who covered the mets back in one thousand nine hundred seven having worked in New York market for a long. I've never seen an organization that is more affected by public opinion than the mets. And I thought Yep that he at some point. They're going to let him go. What what did you think absolutely couldn't agree more with what you said? And not only that the fact that you know one of the reasons why they hired Beltran was because it was excellent in publicity. Ns S you. And I know spending so much time covering baseball in New York. The mets have failed many times on the PR department. And this would hiring hiring Carlos Beltran. They bought themselves all this goodwill right the return of the prodigal son with everything that had happened when he had left the comments of the Wilpon when he used to be a you know. Oh a mets player. Everything gets kind of water under the bridge. There's just you know one of the most impressive press conferences that I have attended you know at city field so it was just as big. Pr Moment and then all of a sudden I agree with you. They got swayed by public opinion. And one of the things that Carlos Beltran and as you mentioned before which is important you state. The aren't family our friends of mine. So my activity here Sometimes can be a little bit swayed but the point is that can handle the media. He's been you know he was a player for twenty a years worked on a capacity assistant with the Yankees and so on and I feel that this was in my opinion. Definitely a wilpon decision muster. Oh No no question. The way this was described I think Carlos but at a statement they talked about a mutual decision. No way like this like Carlos I think absolutely was set on going forward but they say as all the conversation was taking place in New York to columnists were were taking aim at this and they are asking questions. Well what. What did the mets ask Carlos about? After the first athletic story came out about the signed stealing. And how would the mets feel about Carlos not having credibility with the media and it became a real hot topic on talk radio here and one stat ball started rolling downhill and then Aj hinch losses job and Jeff Luna lost his job and Alex. Cora lost his job. There was no way the mets leadership was going to stand in the way of that momentum and stand up and say in the past it was in the past which by the way is what Brody van wagon and said back in November. He kind of indicated like well. That's not really a mets problem. That's an astros throws problem. But their their their words their tone definitely changes week the only aspect that I can you know Ah have gone in this process. One of the things were Carlos may have had some input. Devil's advocate here. Is that one of the things that Carlos Beltran they'll turn and and you and I have covered a great deal of is the fact that he does not like off. The field distractions buster. And I think at that is the part or they'll go. You know what this is the right decision. He is one of those guys that likes to talk baseball. I remember what it was like the whole scandal with Iran in the Yankees Yankees Carlos Beltran was part of the Yankees Organization at the time as a player and he refused to engage in sort of those conversations so there is an aspect of how much he doesn't like the distraction and then that part certainly you know he could have had any input on but I I agree with you. This isn't you know the mets founded selves in an island. Having to make a decision and they got swayed by Jim Crane did and obviously you know what the Boston Red Sox decided to do. After the imposition of a penalty suspension to Alex Score. So let's breakdown go by the way. Yeah exactly breakout some other elements of this What do you think the mets miss out on? Not Having Carlos Beltran altron their manager. Carlos Beltran is an excellent leader. And I think that's one of those things that has been a little bit missing the New York Mets Organization. He drives arrives you. He's one of those guys that inspires others other players and he also galvanizes clubhouses right. He he was the player for the day when he was with the Yankees. Hanky along with Andrew Miller he always has always been so well spoken and he crosses that kind of you know barrier quote Unquote Latino players. And you know the players that are not Latino and I felt that he could galvanize that clubhouse very very well and I think that's the number one thing that the mets are going to miss out on and this is a man who obviously has left the game for a long time doesn't need the money this isn't right and it was honestly doing this job because he truly wanted to make an impact in organization that really has lost their way a little bit in the last couple of years so I think it's a huge loss. So they mess. We're GONNA do not have Carlos Beltran but I do understand the decision. In terms of the whole quote in quote distractions off the field now. I'm not as close to him as you are if I was I think and he asked me my advice in this situation. Now that he's lost the job of the mets would. I think I would tell them was Carlos you need to hold a press conference in New York have rent out a room at a hotel or restaurant invite all the reporters to come and basically say I'm here to answer all your questions about what went on with Houston with me back in two thousand seventeen eighteen. Because I think that's the only way he's going to be able to manage at some point down the road and all I heard for the last decade is this is someone who absolutely terrific manager in the future future. He has to be great at this job but I think that would allow him to and let's face he's never going to move past this. It's already cost him his job but at least to get past those questions would be to tell the writers. I'm here to answer every question you people have about what take place and I'll tell you exactly really what happened. What do you think about that? I don't know that I mean I. I would love for that to happen. Let's be very clear. I don't know that the benefit for for Carlos it's worth it If if one of the drugs and he said this in an introductory press conference specifically said I didn't want any job I don't need need a job. I wanted to stay in New York. Carl has very very young children. They're all right like very yes. Three kids are all very young during school in your this is where they reside the kids go to school will. So there's only two baseball jobs that he would apply for the New York Yankees and the New York mets and he's not gonna get either one of those jobs so I just don't think that at this point point it benefits the family anyway and I do think that Carlos will do what's best for his family especially having young children Buster and I know you know that you had young children at one time. It's the point that these kids have to see the paper tomorrow. They're going to be in school. They're old enough. You know and I feel like it would rehash a lot of topics. Is that right now. Maybe people are going to move on you know and and just gone from that now if he later on when the kids are a little bit older he wants to do something else. Maybe at that point but but at this point I just don't see the benefit. Yeah I mean I would counter that by saying I remember what about the wondering to Rehab how he basically he put a statement saying look. I'm not only doing it for me. I'm doing it for the for my for my kids in other words I'm going to be show my kids that I'm going to be open and honest and I'm going to talk about you know what my situation relation is and I feel like that. That would be a good thing for calls just to be able to turn this page because otherwise you know every time he would show up at a ballpark as visitor. IRV Fiore was hanging out on a entered events. Someplace you know knuckleheads like me would come up and we'd all be asking okay. What really happened back in two thousand seventeen gene right? It's it's a very good counter counterpoint. Just think that at this point The Beltran family would be better served and also oh Carlos we there's been a lot of talk online and ever since the station happen of you know crossing the thin Blue Line right. What players are opening some sort of Pandora's box walks by having this conversation? I think that Carlos has that guy to who doesn't quote unquote throw other players. I don't I'm saying that that's not you know not that I agree with with that or not. I actually believe that whistle blowers are important and I admired my fires for standing up and doing what he did. So let's just be very clear but I just don't see Carlos being that guy guy he's always been very reserved very pro player right like a pro player and I think a press conference like that addressing detail of the Astros you know obvious assigned feeling investigation would not go. You know. Go against who. He is right the other day when this began to gather momentum and he began to look like the the mets would would let Beltran go. I saw some tweets out from some reporters terrific reporters saying this would be the most seen thing ever the Carlos Beltran will be let go is managed manager before he actually managed the game and I wrote a column on. ESPN DOT com today. where I I wrote that I feel like the mets actually got very lucky with the way this played out and to make this clear in knowing that the mets had made the decision that they were GonNa let Carlos go to me?.
"mets" Discussed on The Lead
"Sit Him after owning the team since the eighties and holding onto ownership through the medoff disaster nearly a decade ago. Why are the wilpon looking to sell now? One of the reasons the sale is happening now so as it is Is that Fred. Wilpon just turned eighty three At the end of November and so he's trying to secure the long term future of the New York. Mets and there has been some disagreement over. Exactly what would happen Win A wilpon passes away and and how it would be handed down through his family. A Jeff Wilpon. His his son has taken on an outsized role with the team as chief operating officer. He's been really the public face of ownership for a few years now. Fred Wilpon has not spoken publicly in quite a few years. We'll so tell me about Steven Cohen. The guy in line to buy the mets and perhaps the guy in line to be the met Savior sports so I played soccer. I played basketball in high school team. And and just played golf. And that's what you did is a hedge fund manager He was born in great neck. New York grew up a mets fan out. A Long Island started his own Hedge Fund and then in two thousand and thirteen his company was indicted for insider trading breaking news to bring you now the. Sec Is Doing Hedge Fund advisor. Steve a Cohen for failing to supervise Q.. Interesting your employees and prevent them from alleged insider trading. I'm very big news. This is the first formal charges of the SEC. Against Steven Been Cohen. Understand the rules on trading inside information. It's very familiar with rule. Ten B Five Dash One No no not that. You'd have to explain it to me. The firm ended up agreeing to pay a one point. Eight billion dollar fine. His net worth is estimated at more than nine billion dollars by Bloomberg which would make him the wealthiest majority owner in Major League Baseball. If this all comes to pass He's a noted art collector who spent nine figures on multiple pieces of art a singularly including spending more than one hundred and forty million dollars on an Alberto Giacometti Committee sculpture. which is more money than the mets? For instance have ever paid on a single player contract. That was one of my favorite details from your piece and not only. Is that more money than the mets have ever spat aww individual players contract. That's like fifteen million dollars less than their entire payroll. What's last year? So he's spent one hundred fifty. I five million dollars on a Pablo Picasso Painting Picasso mets have only run a payroll north of one hundred and fifty. Five million dollars This past season. That was the first time they ever did that. So if Steve Cohen does come in he would be the richest owner in baseball. And he's known to be a pretty serious mets fan. What impact? What do you think he can have on the organization? We don't know for sure but I think there have been people who have compared it to Steve Balmer coming in and running the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. But most of all punked saying hello as clippers. The Paul E. Coli come on the thought that a lifelong fan like this will spend considerably more on the product. Baseball baseball does not have a salary cap. The way other sports do so he could spend as much as he wants to on the on field product. There's also He's also guy who through his work. As a hedge twin manager has embraced the analytical side of things and the mets have been very slow in terms of kind of changing with the current times in baseball and embracing analytics analytics. So the thought is With Cohen on board as the majority owner. They'd be a bit swifter in that area as well. We don't know what it'd be like on a day-to-day basis as if he would have the same kind of imprint. On the day to day activity that the wilpon like to have. But that's that's something kind of have to wait and see until he actually becomes the owner to know another another open. Question is what the mets will do with general manager. Brodie van Wagon He. He was a controversial higher. You know he had never been a GM. He was an agent before or he had represented some mets players. Do you have a sense of whether the sale will be in that brody loses. His job is kind of the same dynamic where your general manager working for the owner. Who did not hire you? That you've got to win him over you're not his guy and so I think bandwagon face that same dynamic down the line with Cohen. How how of mets fans reacted to the possibility of a change in ownership as if they won the world series Steve Cohen? Our Savior Steve Cohen. Colwyn we bow to the Steve Cohen. We love you. You have swooped down to save us. From the Wilpon 's goodwill plans had been the boogeyman in this franchise for so long everything that was wrong with the mets was attributed to the wilpon. That you you know if presented with the option of the Wilpon the known entity on one hand versus whatever's behind the curtain. Whatever is behind door number one mets fans would choose the unknown Insead Cohen so the fact that Cohen is as wealthy as he is I think exacerbates the excitement for stands stand the thought that he would be willing to send financially with the Wilpon. Haven't been able to recently. There's light at the end of the tunnel for mets fans. I think this is probably more exciting for them than any single single free agent would have been in this off season right no more numerous brown paper bags at city. You never know for sure. Well Tim thank. Thank you so much for joining us at. It'll be exciting to see what happens going forward anytime. Thank you for having me a step. The Band Green the rain. Your brain your life here. Here are some other stories. We're following at lead Major League Baseball. Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that all thirty. MLB teams will expand protective netting. Starting in the twenty twenty season the news comes on the heels of some terrible accidents and after a study found that more than eight hundred fans have been injured by baseball's also major league games in the past eight seasons. NFL executives apparently aren't satisfied. With some of the League's recent rule changes the athletics. Daniel Kaplan reports that Troy Troy Vincent the NFL's Executive Vice President of football operations acknowledged problems with officiating and the new pass interference challenge for all. He said quote everything. Everything is on the table meaning we could see some big changes next season and last night was a homecoming of sorts for Leonard. The crowd in Toronto gave him a Standing Standing Ovation and chanted. Mvp as he received his championship ring in his first game in Toronto since joining the clippers.

"ESPN RADIO ESPN news. Let's go back to the calls before we get you know talking Thursday night football Seattle Oh. La Talk in New York mets going in a different direction talk. MLB plans to some degree because my Yankees play tomorrow night they open their best of five against the Minnesota twins who led like the major leagues in homeless with three hundred seven seven and a record the Yankees were at three hundred and six the bronx bombers should be able to handle their business. They usually do against Minnesota. My only concern would be the Houston Houston Astros at the antibody described anybody else to beat the Yankees. Nobody not the dodgers not the braves that the nationals nobody absolutely nobody not to raise. Nobody I think the only thirteen standing in the way of a twenty twenty eighth world series the Reese Championship for the greatest franchise in the history of sports is Houston Astros that is what I believe go back to the phones. Josh Alava Stephen was up. Oh Steven naismith yours so so wrong about buck showalter and the mets I think you are Solich. in my opinion is one of the greatest managers of the generation like I don't them for like you're giving them enough credit for what he did for the Yankees in in the nineties way different Zona in two thousand and if you remember correctly from two twenty twelve to 2016 Orioles had the best record in the MLB that's in the same division with the New York Yankees Tampa Bay rays in the Boston red sauce when Obama yeah I'm aware of I'm aware of what he did one year in Baltimore. I'm aware that from twenty to twenty six teams when the mid mid way from the restaurants when it will talk show wall oh to was going to be great as managers who buck showalter is he's major league baseball is version of Larry Brown Larry Brown an NBA used to have the nickname Mr fixit member that wherever he went to team got better and he went to the hall of fame because of it and I get that but ultimately had to go to Detroit Lion I'm sorry to Detroit Pistons and coach Chauncey billips Tae Sean Prints Rip Hamilton Rashid and Ben Wallace and those boys mom and Lindsey Hunter and others to a title before he was recognized for the greatness that he had repeatedly put on display spanning decades because he was devoid of that chip and all. I'm saying to you when you look at Buck showalter and I'll tell you you that this man has not been synonymous with championships. Okay I mean. I don't think that's farfetched. I don't think that's beyond the Pale. Do you have to look at what the oils like I in the most recently arranged it for a boxer also never around him with good pitcher and I do not have to look at any of that. All I have to look at that the reason I don't have to look at that because I never said he was a bad manager. I never said he wasn't a good manager. I said my preference for the mets. Situation would be Joe Giradi him already so what he did for the Yankees. I know you WANNA. I know you wanNA title with the Yankees. I know that much I agree with the most talented group to to get that talent to walk show Walker I short you will become the mets savior. Okay letting you know all right. We'll become that met save you listen. I'm looking at bug show Walter and when you look at book show Walter and his resume he lost in L. D. S. were the Yankees one time in four years. He went to the postseason as a wants. He Lost Okay all right in three years with Arizona he went to the postseason he lost and and and how many years in in Texas for years nothing in Baltimore from two thousand and ten to two thousand eighteen he went to the postseason three times okay one of those times he went to the I got it understand. The resume is is solid and I know his baseball knowledge is impeccable. I'm not questioning it. I just have a personal preference and he ain't it appreciate your call. Let's go to joe you lava Stephen Subject. Hey Steven A. this wanted to say thank you for answering call and I know this is going to be a little off topic but I just wanted to get your opinion it in about the saint like or you think the saints season could possibly and the saints Fan I can win at all. I think the saints win all if drew breeze comes back healthy and their defense continues to play the way they played against Dallas last week because he I think I think you can rely on Michael Thomas in Albuquerque erotic. They're reliable commodities. I think the question is drew. Brees can't be unhealthy and that defense has to continue to deliver you hold on for thirty five yards rushing and neutralize their passing game of the process. You got to be able to do that again. Some of the other teams in the National Football League particularly really you have to do it against an Rogers and Green Bay you might have to do it against Matt Ryan and Atlanta because even though they're they're auto wanted three star and it's not impressive. We can't tonight effect that Julio Jones Muhammadu Calvin really all the same skoll with Matt Ryan can't ignore Seattle can't ignore the the Los Angeles Rams because their offense can't ignore Carson wentz and Philadelphia Eagles can't ignore the Detroit lions right now the way they're looking and the way Matt Patricia has them a player can ignore any of it. Even you think they can't learn what Teddy Bridgewater EPA help no not championship they can win games that gets you to the postseason championship the ship hell no Pecan. We're told he bridgewater. I just told you I don't believe it. I think he's a relatively pedestrian quarterback. He's a game. He's a game manager. I don't think he's a difference maker. I don't think he's a scrub but I don't think he's a difference maker. You need drew brees. You need to greatness drew brees to deliver your championship championship and you better get that back because if you don't get that back you ain't going nowhere very have a nice day. Let's go to Melvin. You'll obviously there was a melon. Hey Steven Nice first time caller it'd be credited show on an JC say what's up okay and also I wanNA honest. I got a question about the mess but I wanted to but you boy ten thirty. It's thirty and we'll production the system that'd be so nice finally to talk to Iran altered and this man you should keep Mickey callaway. Excuse me I keep saying Mickey should've had a another year now now no he didn't knock your socks off. I mean the first half of the season was awful. The second half they went on a run and they were the most exciting team in baseball about three weeks then after that they tailed off to the phillies international's number three he wasn't brought van wagon this choice he arrived the year before the GM and executive vp and I think we're in van wagon and has every right to one on his own guy. Particularly when you consider the quality of managers that are available in the open market right now I think because understand stand being that Diaz some trash familiar with tries and we had we want to work forty six twenty six off at all stop right there and we will play right injuries yeah so I mean baseball's off man by two years then not tender. There's nothing that Mickey Calloway did the any of those manages all right Joe Madden Joe Girardi Book Show Walters. There's nothing that Mickey Calloway did those guys can't do in his replay as his replacement right right or a school man so yeah. She's taking my call man. Thank you very much damage. ACS It all right no problem Jordan and you lava Stephen. They go ahead. Hey what's what's up man I just wanted to talk about the game tonight will Wilson and Golf Seattle and the Rams you know Wilson's coming in with second consecutive wins on Thursday night football football he's six and eight against the Rancho with three straight losses he's GonNa be at home and especially when I think we're GOP only putting up two touchdowns last week against against the Tampa Bay buccaneers what three interceptions girl you only have what I think sixteen yards with five Kerry's It's GonNa be a good one but I don't think the rams are GonNa come through where victory tonight. I don't think so either I think the weather combined with that crowd on the road the noise factor etc.. I think it's GonNa compromise their passing game. It's GonNa Lean on running football more and I don't think Todd Gurley is one hundred percent healthy to run particularly against that defense in that weather. I'm going with the SEAHAWKS wall I agree. I agree all right appreciate the call. Thank you so much it eight say. Espn you listen live to Steven A. ESPN radio ESPN news also let's go to jeff you'll subjects. Hey Steven first time longtime curious. What are your thoughts on Menchu is he? The the real deal and through the Jaguars have a chance of winning sufficient. Well first of all anybody looks. Anybody looks like the real deal when you succeed in Blake Bortles so let's put that in it's proper perspective. We can't ignore north. That's number one number. Two Nick foles got there. He's the one you acquired a free agency and brought him a Philadelphia but he got hurt in the first half of game one number three you look at their defense. Jacksonville has equality defense. It's a damn shame that all that's been going on. There have been going on particularly the League Jalen Ramsey wanting to be traded because he can't stand Tom Coughlin and you got Chad con the owner for the Jacksonville Jaguars saying we're not GONNA continue consider trading Jalen Ramsey because we're a better team with them which is perfectly logical why he would take that position and why he would make that decision but it doesn't gate the fact that all it's going to do is make life uncomfortable uncomfortable because Jalen Ramsey is not gonna sit idly by and to live in his in his situation and being a not wanting to be there. What have you so that's not a good look either so that could be the potential for more friction there last night at least when you get back to you you know what let's face reality we appreciate the fact that he played good against Tennessee on Thursday night? We got that and he filled in admirably wants. Nick foles went down. We get that but we really really be an honest reason why we're waving about Menchu because of his he do is mustache and his wardrobe. That's right. I said it if it was if he just looked like some regulo cookie could've quarterback. Would you be raving about him like this. We were GONNA win. I'm just saying I don't know if you'd be raving about him like this. You'd be talking about Jacksonville and giving him credit fulfilling in well but he wouldn't be this rave that he is if it wasn't for the way he looked and the way he dressed and y'all all know it. That's why they got some special date over the next two games where where they're selling stuff where you got people who can dress like in with fake mustaches look like in with their here do in all of this other stuff because he's a fee non right now so basically you know what he's getting his fifteen seconds of fame as we speak but it'd be he really knocking your socks off yet. No and I'm not saying he can't I like them. I like what I've seen thus far but as the season progresses more films coming out on him. Let's see how he does and let's see how he responds to the adversity that will inevitably be thrown in his direction but right now all you gotta do a mustache and wardrobe. If it wasn't for that you will be talking about him like this. You're right take it easy. GotTa run it at eight say. ESPN is editing seven two the three seven seven six. You Ain't bring up none of that stuff to talk about Patrick Mahomes you know why because that brothers on another level that's not what anybody's talking about. What meant you Gardner Minch you? His Daddy's an audience by the way it was a beautiful beautiful pitcher daddy they're pumping his fist and inspiring his son beautiful look love seeing that his pops is they're giving them more love and support in the world and misuse done nothing to deserve any kind of criticism and I'm not trying to give it to him. He doesn't deserve any criticism and I'm not trying to give it to all. I'm saying is is that the difference between him doing being a backup who's playing well and might becoming a starter or being apartments you or the face of men's shoe. Mania mania is his wardrobe his mustache and is he ado data's it. He looks like a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider playing quarterback in the national football or something close to that that's it puts things in it's proper perspective it at eight say. ESPN editing seven two three seven seven goes back to your calls and more than a minute.

I'm leave my show about the New York mets the New York mets who is openly in unapologetically. Don't give a damn about because they are not the Yankees it. They're not witter's like the Yankees are native Queens New York grow fifteen minutes from the old say stadiums before I became Citibank field. I don't give a damn about the mets I leave the GEICO those of you nationwide who may not know who that is down while the Greg is an absolutely fabulous radio host partnering with Michael Kennedy. Mike okay show every weekday in New York City. Don WanNa Greco knows his hockey to the only thing I know about hockey puck is black. That's about it and it's played on ice as I don't know damn thing about hockey okay but when it comes to these mets notice much data Yankees I noted for three consecutive year. They've missed the postseason season. Mickey callaway has just been fired has demanded Joe for the mets despite winning going seventy seven and eighty five last year improving by nine nine games eighty six to seventy six this year being a manager that was.

"I mean the fact that the brewers have played the way they've played is basically glee knocked out sixteen to in their last eighteen. That's just unheard of a could've been the mets went on Enron but you know we were talking about. I don't even even I'm GonNa win that bet by the way because I said eighty eight and it's going to go over eighty eight. Now we were talking about how many wins it would take for that second wildcard and I said eighty eighty eight you said eighty six and Jerry said eighty seven now. I clearly it in the winter because it's right now right now. It's eighty seven seven. The Bruce have eighty seven but if they go to eighty nine is I mean I went now but why now has been the number the numbers the number well. That's not fair fair it. It has to know where we all. We all through. I if you're one number off the the lottery woman no no but this. This was not the lottery but this was was the number of what you thought was going project. We don't win unless it falls right on the number man I tell you but the whole point was that was going to take you you probably let you and it hits a one and and I don't know I don't know what we'll myself but if it comes up next to the number that you picked you win. Mel Different thoughts. This is more like you say sports right I did but you're not winning if it's more than eighty eight united said more than you guys and it's going to be more than you guys. I think that's a victory. If you WanNa you know Pat Yourself on the back there. She got a little close that your victory I the victory lap around here closest closest win. That's great the closest we both we all three of US basically did not you know we're under the number well. We'll find that out. I don't know if the brewers are going to win two more games who knows I still got a shot you don't you're done already. With how many games do go left that they have. They got three or four more games your day or blue right by you. They're going to blow them blown by you too so I don't think so see that's. That's the thing they blew by me. They did so when they blow by you. They'll have blown by U. N. Me and Jerry. It'd be three blow by it. Took longer to blow by me. That's what I'm saying from the pack will and I am the number on the nose and by the way it was easier for you to go oh higher than two of us. Let's face it. Now I start. I was the one who started I was like I think I said eighty-eight right off the bat. So I set the tone man I was a tone. The Centre with Dad bet you guys went under. Let's take the L. You're going to be a blown by tone center here. Don't worry about it..

You're sitting there saying this is gonna be one hell of a september and we haven't gotten to september and later and it was like what in the hell just well like. My partner said when i saw we kept saying how the whole run evident. I would not together filling in here. He's there. I'm here all it is. He's on vacation komo vacation and he said you watched by the time you and i get back together the day after labor day. He's not over for the mets. Well you know what he's right. Yeah i suppose i mean i'm not going to gorge agenda five games. Let let's just look at the reality of it is that they're not making the playoffs right totally but i'm not gonna sit and be one of those guys as everybody. Everybody did in july and i understand four forget who they gonna jump off. I hate that just when you're games. I understand that we're eleven games under five hundred or so. You've got a full national now. They did not want to hear that ever again. They did that having been said. They can't beat the teams ahead of them. Don't matter anymore and they gotta play phillies now coming up and they gotta play the nationals. I think they got the dodgers. I jus after that you know mollins. There's no more pirates you know. There's no more white socks on his schedule. You know what i thought it was a little different though honestly. I thought it was different. I thought the likes of the j._d. Davis the likes of the jeff. Mcneil's compete alonzo's like these are guys that have been here. That haven't been it's been. I don't know like you would listen to pete alonzo talk after a game and it seemed like the attitude was just different. It was kind of like yeah young. Instead hit home runs and we're going to win. Games and things have turned around sounded. I looked at the way the four pitchers were pitching for the most part and it was kind of everything in every way you would drop this team to play and i know people might call and yeah well. They beat up on the bed. Teams okay fine. A lot of teams beat up on the bed teams at least the good teams doing. That's what you're supposed to do and if you could just at least hover against the really good teams. You're going to be either with a chance six in a row at home for a team that even against good team. This year have been very good against didn't see that coming. I i just didn't see it either. I look who saw common now look. The braves are back to being what the brave's always wore against the mets going back twenty years ago. They can't beat the braves. I mean that's where the mets are in that situation right now but i mean this cup series. I said okay the cubs. Cubs just come off. They got swept at home by washington. You figure okay okay and in washington. Did the mets a little bit of a fair yeah at least two games here. I've got all my big pictures gone or at least two of them with <hes> noah and jake and it didn't happen..

"With ryu but still probably a better matchup for the braves and the mets and the middle game and then sunday afternoon you got matt's kaikal and kyko has been good but he's not kyko from four years ago and matt's at home has been remarkable so you you liked the pitching matchups this weekend you like the whatever you wanna call it the magic that the mets have had at city field. They've got a great chance again to go. Take two out of three and then boy if they he did that and then you're back home next week for the cubs. Now you're looking at the cubs at philadelphia next weekend and i'm not gonna head of getting ahead of ourselves you just looking at the schedule. This is where you start to say. Now you start making some moves. Did you see the cleveland indians twitter account last night. I did not by any chance know all all right so this is very very odd that they would tweet this out so this is before the game all right so they've just lost to to the mets then played poorly right so the cleveland indians verified twitter account or i made sure he goes. It's a long season. We didn't know race eleven and a half have game deficit to roll over. We split a series of one of the best teams in the major leagues at their home ballpark meaning the yankees. We lost the last two to a fringe range postseason team. We understand your frustration. Get it out here but let's renew the perspective. This is before the fringe playoff team right now. Get the are but like. I don't know i a for some reason i got defensive over that well. I'm sure i'm sure would fringe schley off team like what they're on the outside looking in now i got it but still the indians are what nineteen games over five hundred right there perspective on fans ends relax. I get but the mets right now the reason there are fringe playoff teams because they sucked at the beginning of the show if what i'm doing if vom the indians is i'm saying we just lost to the team. That's got the best record in baseball since the all-star break. That's what i would say you know because that's what they are. Now is that's what they are fringe fringe but while they're doing all they're doing is talking to their for. They don't give a damn what you think. They're not going to see them again. I'm not asking for them and to give a damn what i'm thinking. I'm just saying it's like gimme a break. Give me some a little more respect in good job good job. I do twitter guy now. I think first first of all. I think that it's silly that they have to talk to. The people that are going nuts on social media like like this is someone who's like. Oh man look at our mentions. People are upset with the team assured to relax like don't forget about it. You know you'll be fine. He'll start winning some games again. Forget about it and then at the end of the day they'll probably end up winning the american league central yeah well right exactly and that's what i kind of expect for them as well i just i don't know you have bought all in this over the frigging very defensive for your menzies well. They've been the hottest team in baseball spall now and clinton now the mets are and it's like i don't know like say you know when the yankees split with with the team of the one of the best teams of major league baseball and then just lost to to a greenish playoff team like dude. The mets right now are bought. They're also they're also the the hottest team in baseball and one of the best home teams. You can spin that a lot better to your fans..

Don't you think that those is teams. Kinda sweating bullets to play the mets. I mean that's not something that you would want to run into right now offensively. They're hot pitching. It's hot <hes> so this series nats mets you got strasbourg versus stroman steady the old debut and you bet your ass that marcus stroman is going to be jacked up for his first start in queens then. Do you have patrick corbin versus noah syndergaard saturday night. That's going to be a barn burner. Then you got anibal anibal sanchez versus jacob degrom on sunday at one o'clock that one not i mean like animal sanchez credited this fucking guy he's sound like a very consistent as low key pretty damn good major league baseball career <hes> so now you have degrom as your finisher. You're closer on sunday and speaking of pitching matchups. We don't have this series on this year. We're doing heavy mets nats twins indians but i can't not mention this four-game series the reds versus as the cubs cole hamels versus alex would tonight.

But again, what good's it really going to do when this is what it sounds like last night when my when the moment I will take away from last night is this and we played in the opening, but I really want you to take this into full extent last night. This was how much fun the nets got to have during the game. Listen to this moment when Jose Reyes again, position player pitching last night. Great times on the mound and hits the NATs Ryan Zimmerman, here's riot-ready kicks livers and the pitch Zimmerman in the foot. Motion like he's going to charge them out. He hit with a fifty four mile an hour slider. Call courtesy of the nationals radio network. Ryan Zimmerman in the NATs were having so much fun. He gets clock with the slider going about fifty and fake charges. The mound in a world of major league baseball where so much of that unwritten rules aspect of the game takes it self. So seriously, he recognized how holy ridiculous that moment was in a day were again legalized gambling in the NBA actual players being moved onto the d. l. and Chris sale from the Red Sox trades being made around the deadline, and he just got hit by a fifty four mile an hour pitch thrown by a guy who should not be pitching attain is life. "Green bird batters. Just to the left centerfield second bench it home run of the year for Mark Reynolds, and it's now Washington twenty four New York one. Oh, but my favorite, those calls courtesy of NATs radio network. But, oh, my favorite portion of this. My absolute favorite thing that can happen a major league baseball. We're in any sport. This is not me belittling your vocation major league baseball or major league baseball fans. Because my favorite portion last season's when the Green Bay Packers had to put a defensive tackle offense of garden, National Football League game and last night watching Jose Reyes go in for his first action for the Mets. I action in first instance of a position player pitching. Chefs kiss, absolutely felt great. Now, Jose Reyes said it was all fun and games until when you the mouth before you throw a piece, his phone, you know. But when you're starting to see people hate hoping stuff, you know you series because Yvonne not a piece. I want to see that, you know. So I want to throw Sierra out there. You know, like I say, I do the best. I can first last by goal junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app like that was just the way it went last night. You got the met starting to think about. All right. Well, we're already getting our teeth kick in. We might, we may as well not go ahead and exhaust all our relievers for the next few days live to fight another day, but here's how it all kind of shook out for the nets. Because again, if you're the NATs you're out here just trying to kind of come down from what's going on at the trade deadline. Bryce Harper was the one big name. We really had to latch any sort of storyline onto around the trade deadline, and that's a stressful thing to see in the news. I'm sure for a team that we talk about is only five, five and a half games back in that. Division might still have something to play for down the stretch. People not ready to trust some of the teams in front of them. All these things that we've heard already, but still you at your best players name floated out there and trade talks for a few days. You had your best player potentially leaving town. You already understand that that's coming this off season potentially having to deal with that. And so what's the perfect rebound you go out, you put up numbers like this against the Mets on Tuesday, five players with at least three RBI franchise record five players with at least three hits tied for second most in franchise history. Eight players multiple hits tied for second in franchise history. Nine starters scored multiple runs the first team to do that since the nineteen Seventy-nine, California, Angels in twelve players with a hit. It was an offense of explosion for them last night and on the other side boy, oh boy. What? What do you even say, if you're the Mets? When you walk away from this one, there's not much you can say. Now you can get triple action protection for optimal engine performance was shell v, power, nitro plus premium gasoline. You can call in on the shell Pennzoil performance line eight, seven to nine, three, seven, seven, six. If you wanna.

You have actual bona fide roster moves going on Chris sale going to the DL in Boston stuff that's actually going to affect the proceedings in major league baseball. In venue. Got the Mets like my God. What have we done to deserve this? Ah, last night, the Mets went out and out Mets themselves. They got beat twenty five to four by the nationals. Last night me the Mets meet the Mets Steph pride for factory of sadness, and a lot of runs that will get to in a little bit. They got the perfect rebound there. You're coming off a bad almost break-up gotten fight with your significant other. If you're the Mets are fear the nationals, excuse me, and you had the perfect rebound night in going out and hanging with the Mets and remembering, oh, wait a minute. We know what true turmoil really looks like now for price Harper in all. This is always the part of it on the pyre side. You see, guys go through it all the time where your name is these subject around the trade deadline, so much so that you wonder what it's like on the back end for a player to know I was so openly shop. We dealt with this. I felt like every year with Kevin love and the Cleveland Cavaliers where they somehow had to walk. Back in after the NBA's trade deadline and look at Kevin like, so you understand, like we were just saying all that stuff. We didn't really mean it. Bryce Harper got a little more of a direct answer from his team in his organization about what was going on for managed yesterday. Early this morning man known that I was gonna say, I was going to be here and you know, it's, I took that as I have great relationship, and you know Raza's one of the best teams and all the baseball. And I think you'd be straightforward with me if I was on the block or anything like that. So I think that just goes to show how good our relationship is, and it's nice to which is interesting and runs counter to what we've heard about a lot of the things going on behind the scenes in that nationals locker, where it hasn't always sounded like Bryce Harper in the organization necessarily been on the same page with some things player, acquisition wise and just in general that locker room hasn't sounded like it's the most inviting place at times this season, but to have something like this, be on the same page with you. Star players usually pretty paramount to what you're going to look for success wise. Now, as far as moves that were actually made in the tread dine line, I know most of you are sitting here and thinking, man, I wonder what the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to do really excited. See with the third place team in the NFL central can muster up at the trade deadline and they actually made the one move. I think that would qualify as a splash move in this deadline, which is bringing in pitcher Chris Archer to the full. Now, Chris Archer been down the Tampa Bay rays and hadn't been quite what he was a few years ago. The past three seasons in ERA just over four including four point. Three one in seventeen starts in twenty eighteen, but really for him. It's the contract he's under team control through twenty twenty one with a total salary of twenty seven point six, seven million from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty one. The twenty twenty and twenty twenty one seasons are both team options and based on what we've seen pitcher signed for lately. Getting this kind of cost control for a guy. You still believe could be a quality starter is an important piece of this puzzle. And so now for the pirates who in turn, gave up ost prospect, Austin meadows, Tyler glass down a third player to be named. You're giving up some short term to do what you believe you can do, which is compete right now surprising for a team that gave up really the face of their franchise this last year, Andrew mccutchen and sent him on the way and in a place like that in a smaller market. And I understand Pittsburgh might cry foul in that based on the level of fandom that you see displayed and passion in that town. But in a place like that. And especially in the major leagues where you're not used to seeing a bunch of size stars tied together, the way you'd see in New York and Boston, and some of these bigger markets for baseball, losing a guy like Andrew mccutchen was a major signal to a lot of us that you're starting to kind of turn this over and get back to a place where you're going.

I mean, Dickerson is walking less than once per week. This season and is k. rate is cut in half. So how do you value when you're looking at slumping players? Do you look at the walks as a matter that much to you or you just like basically on track record, like is ever carpenter. It's interesting because like obviously, one of the key stats you look for in terms of hitters is so walk to strikeout ratio. And you know if you're looking at people who are not rostered and fifty percents leagues, there's five guys out there right now who I'm gonna read an article on, you know, you really need to be paying attention and they happen to be fairly hot of late Ben zobrist Jesse Winker Jason Heyward Denard span max coupla. These five guys who just the walk to strikeout ratio is really aren't good in the top twenty in the league, and they're under own because of that. They're going to have more value in points leagues. So you know, I'm not scared away by guy like Capela who's bet in like, you know, to twenty for the season, there's bound to be some sort of improvement in points leagues because of the ratio. And you know if you're dealing the runner league obviously than the batting average matters and you've got to get a look at it differently than a big fan of Jesse. Whe- inkers for a few seasons now he plays fantasy football. Did you know? I did not know. You know, he was hitting the eighth month which is going. Yeah. The reason I was interested is because he was a Walker, he knew what pitch swing out in the minor leagues you could tell. And I thought there was enough power for like twenty home runs, and I still think there is right away. But yeah, what's my Winker? Oh, so it was at the futures game a couple years ago and Winker grabbed me. I was interviewing somebody else. Maybe it was Josh bell and weaker grabbed me and said, the Buffalo Bills are going to win the Super Bowl this year. And I'm like, yeah, I don't think so. And I knew it was. And then we started talking fantasy football, and then we forgot that it was a baseball game. Anyway. I like Winker he's he's from buffalo. Let's get to some other stuff here. All right, let's get to your team because that's a mess. And there actually is fantasy relevant news here. They traded the Mets traded URI's familiar to Oakland over the weekend for pretty much nothing and familiar. Got the win on Sunday, but it's clearly not the closer Blake trial and having a fantastic season. One would presume Robert Salman. We'll be the savior of Mets games with few they have. But the big story to me other than the function is you want assessment as I think it's fifty. Fifty doesn't even play another game this season and his long term outlook for dynasty purposes. I think is clouded here because of the hill problems. Our colleagues defined your bell wrote an excellent story DSP. And about this. What's your take here? I'm kind of being serious now with s but as I mean, obviously we could go on for hours about the mess. That is this team has franchise assessment as like on this. Not sure he's gonna play. No. And this is always been since he's been with the Mets anyway. This is kind of been the thing. You know, he shows up for a little bit and then he's on the DL or or he's not on the deal, which is even worse is that you know, gets banged up. He's that day to day and you know the front office communication with the dugout clearly is not there. It hadn't been there. I mean, when they're when I was mister met running around on the field, I knew more about team than Bobby Valentine didn't simply because I was listening back of house when they weren't talking to him. I would just hearing or with the some of the guys offing, but it's just the communication lines are are not there if Calloway didn't even know that this was was hurt. There's issues here..

"Yeah that's stupid and it's the fun part of it too right it's sort of living with the daily soap opera by the way i was on record yesterday in the podcast i was talking with tim kirk gin and i noted to him that in made reference the fact that last year you your head exploded when i mentioned aaron judge and babe ruth in the same sentence the other night i'm baseball tonight tim kirch invention shohei otani and babe repeating the same sentence and i said but you're going to have to answer to shelby for that i can't wait to see him i think i'm gonna see him today i'm just i mean with with timbers there's just there is an element of just i physically want to bully him but i can't like he's just don't just to to kind of he's kind of any altering glove and saint louis so call it's been a tough road run for him all right two quick ones for you before we go yeah two minutes left on sunday night baseball alex rodriguez mentioned made reference to his free agency because the context was talking about bryce harper who's going to become a free agent at about the same age that alex became a free agent when he left the seattle mariners in bryce like alex has a lot of leverage and this conversation really starting to conference call we had last thursday when you know we talked about how alex is one of the few people who can sort of speak to what bryce is going to experience and we asked him on the call about you know looking back on it you know what advice would you give bryce and then he said look i would've taken control more and he talked about how the beginning of the process when he was a free agent would he really wanted was that he wanted to sign with the mets and i remember reading an article just two weeks after signed with the texas rangers and i said this on the call with him that he said all things being equal i wanted to play for the mets.

"Wow okay you and mr marlin one in the same man well it'll be interesting this year to see how many fans roll into their ballpark yesterday they were taken over by the mets who are rolling this year we're going to be talking today here today from mets manager mickey callaway mark maguire had something fascinating to say and folks with the mets reacting to what alex rodriguez said on sunday baseball and stay to our effort to change an unwritten rule in the sport let's get to it the man boys gin shembe on baseball tonight buksh shabby the legends play by play broadcaster for espn boo tonight you're in boston yes i am i am excited red sox and yankees and we'll get to that in a moment but first i want to know if you're going to join the army that's incorrect i started in a war against one of the unwritten rules in baseball on saturday and i know you're aware of this the padre suffered the indignity of a loss on an infield popup okay to for those who didn't see the play the astros at a runner at second base alex bregman at the plate he it's a high pop up that's twenty five feet in front of home plates and the pitcher for the padres immediately points at the ball everyone stands and watches because they're waiting for cosmic to run in from his position at first base and run he tried to do he had to go about ninety feet.
