He then crashed that car and tried to hijack Modesto's Acura shooting him multiple times in the drive -through lane of a fast -food restaurant. Modesto managed to drive away but died a short time later. Finally police say Ross then carjacked a Toyota Dayon and shot two of three dogs that were in that car. Matt Kofax, WCOP News. Some people decide not to get medical care because of the unknown cost of the procedure. A new Virginia law focused on hospital price transparency took effect on Saturday. Police say the metro operator had checked the doors twice before moving the train and that they're caring for the dog. The Washington metro rail safety commission is investigating. "But sometimes it's good to step back a little bit and try to get the larger picture, the sort of 10,000 foot view, if you will. And I'm watching a very interesting skirmish playing out on social media that raises this kind of a larger issue. So you got a guy who is called the last contrarian on Twitter and he's been posting photos of India versus the United States. Obviously, catches my interest to someone who came from India to America in the late 1970s. And this guy makes the point, he goes, listen, most westerners think of India as a kind of backward slumdog millionaire begging bowl of the world type of country. But he goes, you don't realize what India looks like now. And he posts all these pictures of how clean the airports are, how efficient and modern, the trains look, the huge skyscrapers that make even New York to some degree start looking a little bit old and run down and he then makes the point which is that India is an ascending society, and he says it's part of the ascending world, whereas America is part of the descending world. And he's implies that western as our kind of in denial that they are in the downward slope. Now, a couple of Indians weigh in on this and kind of reinforce what he's saying. And one guy says that if you compare the Indian city of kanpur, it launched a new metro rail system, which had built in two years. And he says contrast this with San Francisco, which has spent $300 million and literally decades to build a metro system and it's still not finished. So the efficiency is the point here and then this Indian guy biological srinivasan makes the point he says, you know, if you told me, even 20 years ago, that Indian cities would look better than American cities or live better. You'd be you can actually have a more livable life

Washington DC Metro to replace 130 escalators at more than 30 stations
"Completed an eight year long project that replaced Ah 145 escalators and rehabilitated about 153 of them. Then started repairing 89 escalators throughout the system will now we've learned Metro is going to begin replacing more than 100 escalators and dozens more station soon. The transit agency will spend $179 million over the next seven years on the new project, it will replace 130 escalators in 32 metro rail stations beginning in May. Escalators at the Roslin Dupont Circle and Tenley Town stations are being replaced. Those are among the longest escalators in the system. Travis County M S has been kept very, very busy saying they've got more than 600 calls with more than 30 injuries, 40 plus ice related falls and of course, many of the people who slipped and fell on the ice ended up with broken bones and some even with head injuries.
