Canary Speech Uses Voice to Identify Human Conditions Across Multiple Applications

"Canary speech technology is currently commercially available. It's practical and scalable. We range in population sizes from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of individuals within the population that we're monitoring and scoring. We have a range of different human conditions, stress anxiety, depression, we've had probably the most extensive use with. We've done some work in PTSD as well. Second to that we have a lot of work done in MCI Alzheimer's and cognitive function and decline. In this particular case, we currently have four clinical partners in different locations in the world where we are doing validation studies on Alzheimer's and cognitive measurements. And then of course, employee burnout, things like congestive heart failure, autism and others are ones that are being worked on as well. I've talked about our patents, we have new patents we're applying for things that we've been learning through these studies. And then our speech analysis as we mentioned before is done generally on 40 seconds to a minute of speech. And we return scored through our system within three seconds of time. Our partners range across the world. I've talked about hack attack meridian. I'm going to talk a little bit more about them later. They're confident but they're genuine. They loved her loved the music. They love the they're not selling it third like they're doing actually yes. They're not selling it. That was a life not sell it. It's been like doing three hours on friday night on instagram havoc asking questions for the people who care like that's awesome so cool. It's so cool to say. I love it and it's it's cool when you do like you know to be able to look at that and be like well like we did that video and like here. They are like you know doing well and it's one thing. Yeah i was like pretty spooked out. 'cause like i don't know if you guys saw there was a a sub brett called Listen to this and it's just like kind of music. Being posted there in nightlife was at the top of the sub. Read the fact that random people around the world or just clicking video and seeing our names yup is spoken me out. Yeah i'm like holy shit. "Both do separate projects to it all falls under a similar umbrella because like we're picking up from one another we are basically. We were just sat on some names for a while. And then. I had a guild in world of warcraft called prime meridian nails like sucks anyway in any against like let's call it. Let's just just let's do something. Tricky enough the full dumb people. But it's like it's a cold word. It's a cool word like it's part of an atlas marine film co. Were meridian was now i. It's murnian film. Colin to market the brand logo very cleantech like company competent would know you could do collaborative you coop. You could do. Collective collects it. What's the word ambiguous. Yeah and it's one of those things that like it just it. It looks nice. Like let's just be honest aesthetically pleasing awards all out is going on just kind of with the big announcement and everything is will be probably easier to market and be like. Oh my friends count and an will do it. I can make no already in film we have. There's a wedding coming up the end of this month. And i looked i just got like a document about the vendor lists and stuff and it was like an. It's like cinematography meridian film really. Yeah okay you man. Yeah and it's just like being labeled like that's dope and it was just like and it said cinematography meridian third. We should assholes. Yeah we should go in there and just wear like all silk. No i'm gonna show up in a in a potato sack in in a burlap sack you guys don't deserve. Yeah as part of the year. Take me take me now. What's what's your favorite thing to shoot. I guess like weddings. Nature live music. Video with meridian are like on our own things to separate. I guess 'cause together you are already for me shooting last. Yeah yeah and astro. Like i am literally so at peace when i'm in the fucking mountains and just like i have nowhere to be like. I worked really hard to get to this place. It's beautiful the air is good and i'm just taking it all in even i think one of the shots you have in. Utah was like the antarctica. And now you went to alaska last one of the shot in utah. The arctic have to check. These guys work if you haven't yet that's a cool thing to bring up because like i've been to utah to bro. I have other people share that same sense of adventure with taking landscape photos. Because i went to that alaska trip was ten strangers. And if you told me like two years ago that i would go to alaska in the middle of winter with ten strangers. I'd be like what are you talking about. That doesn't sound like we were all there with the same goal to just like see the aurora. And it's like everyone got along and it was like super cool and it kind of all brought us together that we were there to see beautiful shit and that's just a cool thing. I think a few weeks guys asking you. You wanted thing that yeah. I have to watch the sunset really quick saying that he had gotten set up there and to spend an hour just watching the sunset. And that's the. I guess the commitment that comes with it. Yeah you hope for something good like maybe once every five times i go out. I'll get keeper. Yeah and then an i. "'cause i showed up with like a broadcast camera. Do you remember that. I showed up with like not not a camcorder to sit on your shoulder. Basically yeah and then you showed up with the five mark. Four and i was like wait. That's a photo camera. You take the pictures with and then you're like no dumb ass like this is kind of put it on a gamble and run around right. Some sick biro day. I was like the day where i was like. Holy shit like you can do so much with with a dsl are oh yeah and it kind of made me started to think about video as an actual freelance thing other than just like doing it for broadcast right and i think when we did it also realize like oh this is like really really pleasant experience like we got along had a good time. Yeah but then fast forward like you've been grinding in being in your group i've been slowly like tailing behind you like. Hey paul me along good wedding and was cool. Because i think after that like we remember we sat down and like we edited it together which was cool and then after that. I think we did a couple of like events in baltimore for the villain himself. Who's the villain at south point. Oh four covington. In chip chip back star in the village was a lot of the people that we work with. Did you get out of that. he's just not an ideal client. Had big teeth. It was kind of scary. Yeah he's kind of rich white guy teeth. Yeah yeah. What kind of job did he want. Comington had to be on the head of all of it. Yes we would do like events stuff so we did some events together and like that was like also relatively easy. But it's still at the same time there was like a little bit of a corporate feel to it in a sense where like what we did was pretty simple straightforward but like. We got paid well for it. Yeah which was cool. We did a few of those. And then you second shot some weddings with me. And i was like this is great. Yeah we just had fun and like know we laugh at the same shit and making fun of people. Yeah we would just and that's the thing we'd like. Shoot these events and weddings and like the whole time. Just be like saying like fucked up the whole time like just like what if that you know. That person over their dislike fucking ripped the food make up these characters that are like an alternate personality to the real person so like we'll sumita personnel a wedding and then that person becomes like inside meam. Yes and it's like an exaggerated version and through that we've just like i don't know it's It's a good synergy. Yeah as they would say and a lot of time. I'd say that pretty much most of the time when when we like meet people at weddings events like we interpret them the same. So like there's been like. I i'm thinking specifically of that one groomsmen Not bringing that story but does that one just like we can read a person pretty similarly. It'd be like we have the same caricature of them in our. We're just like like that that guy. Yeah okay you know went from weddings. And then like. I started helping him out with music videos. And then we were basically doing like every gig together through like we might as well just makes sense. Yeah while we we have like different styles and different things but they also there's overlap and so like that also helps because we both do even though we.

Or you guys are out there like you know grinding and like trying really hard to look cool and i'm just keeping the square on the man for the most. Yes my head over and over like just keep the square on the man on the man and you win fucked game. We're going to do it. I feel like it's it's not. Look it's easier to look less like an asshole of five. A mike stand and that's why i do it all the time. What do you do with the other hand what people like. You could take it off. And then i'll come back and like taking back sunday. Like adam lazarre are of different. That's that's that's the other extreme is like. He never uses a stan because he wraps cable around his neck. I feel like even if we played. Look that kind of music or like if i had like that. But you know being in a punk metal band it has to be really awkward for the pop singers. The jews like the headset microphone and like they just have to figure out something to do with both of their hands. Yeah i get a dancing guests. Choreographed dances i like baby metal is oh yeah baby metals. Great 'cause they do metal with with the head and then they had said they have like choreographed dances. And it's so cool because it's like it's like tantalizing to watch but also sounds bad ass. I've seen the video. Forgive me chocolate forty times. Probably just because of i dunno they are. It's hilarious right now. Probably the most popular metal bands out a lot of the bigger guys. Concept is just fucking hilarious. Did you do you listen to To poppy at all. I've heard i've heard. Game up my favorite my favorite place to hang out with the sniper. They were arms dealers. Their arms dealer so they suming that they did they. Yeah they were like. Because i read some some shit about it. Where like they're going to be selling the guns to someone and that's why they were in the room. I mean if i had the they would like them the middleman for this correct but yes having those guns like that close to the all star game sketchiest imagine if they just wanted like they had tickets to the homerun derby and just like combined knocking the gun sale out the same weekend. Yeah i only got the rocket launcher once throughout the game. And i use that for one boss and it's funny because you just shoot him once and the second it hits like it goes to a cut scene of him dying and i was. What is the risk of allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccines?

"See those they respect getting the shots, the thought is they'll be willing to get one too. And when we reach about 70% immunity meeting 70% of us have either had Cove it or have had the colored vaccine. We can finally put away the masks and hug once again. One of those respected people who got a shop this week is Dr Kevin Slavin, a pediatric infectious disease specialist who's also director of Quality for Hackensack, Meridian Children's Health in New Jersey. ABC News producer Joy Piazza. Rupert spoke to him right after he received his vaccination. What was that process like? It actually was remarkably smooth. We have because of the limited early distribution. We've identified highest risk. Health care workers. Should be in in what we're calling Phase one and they set up this incredible process where They can administer enough vaccines in a very brief amount of time in a single location. With everybody keeping their distance. Everybody masking. And even with the period of observation that's needed afterwards to make sure that they're no immediate side effects. The The whole process from walking in the door. Registering, making sure that I didn't have any of the screening conditions that would. That would be a reason not to get the vaccine at that point. Getting the vaccine and being observed for 15 minutes. That whole process took about half an hour. Every step work exactly the way it was supposed to. I didn't wanna sort of ask how you feel right now. Do you have any sort of underlying Grogginess or fatigue or pain at the injection site. Anything like that. So yesterday my arm was a little sore. So you know I could I could I could use it. It wasn't a big deal, but it was A little bit different from what I get with most most vaccinations, but that was it. There were these couple of instances of allergic reactions in the UK, and then there were two in Alaska. Is it something that folks should worry about? If they have allergic reactions to medicine or or food or anything like that? Should they talked their doctor the way that It looks like it has come up is for people who have had serious allergic reactions before and it's certainly not everybody who's had a serious allergic reaction before. But people who've had serious allergic reactions before mostly focusing on an awful axis, which is, you know the most severe form where there could be severe swelling and your difficulty breathing. And swelling of the throat swelling of the tongue swelling of the lips, all of which presents somebody from being able to really breathe effectively. I think for people who had to severe allergic reactions that that would be something to very seriously discuss with their physician, Bilton observation time immediately afterwards where your observed in a setting We're a health care provider can administer immediate treatment. If you have that that is actually really key for anybody who wants to get the vaccine but has a zit concern that if they speak with their physician, and it felt that it's safe, making sure that it is given in a place that can provide immediate rescue treatment for a severe allergic reaction, and then get somebody quickly to a place where they can provide ongoing treatment goes, that's gonna be the real key component for that. Supreme Court blocks strict COVID-19 restrictions on New York houses of worship

"Of New York state's strict attendants limits on religious gatherings. The rules were designed to help slow the spread of the Corona virus. It's 5 to 4 decision highlights tensions that have grown during the pandemic between secular leaders and some religious groups that also opens a window on the new makeup of this court. Now that Amy Cockney Barrett is on the bench. NPR's Brian Mann is in Westport in upstate New York and has been following developments have Ryan Hey, happy Thanksgiving, Ari. Same to you. New York has seen tens of thousands of covert 19 deaths. So what immediate impact is this ruling going to have on the state's attempt to fight the pandemic? State officials say there's no immediate impact. The Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Jewish groups brought this legal challenge and state officials have already rolled back the so called red and orange zones that covered their churches and synagogues. So the rule limiting attendance to his fewest 10 people, even in big religious spaces. It wasn't actually being enforced. But the ruling could limit new restrictions here in the future at the number of cases really surges again in New York, and this also sends a message. You know two other governors around the country how the Supreme Court will look it at any of their restrictions. What's the reaction been today from the religious groups that brought this case? Yeah, they've declared victory. They say this is an important win for religious freedom. They point out that New York was still allowing so called essential businesses to operate in Corona virus hot spots without the same level of restriction. And this win for religious leaders is reversal from the Supreme Court's posture just last summer that gave governors ah lot more leeway fighting this pandemic. I spoke about this with Douglas Laycock at the University of Virginia, he's legal expert on religious liberty. Governor's orders in New York, where some of the mystery Cockney and in the country the first case where Amy Cody Barrett really makes a difference is compared to respect her Ginsberg and it slipped the result and they're not going to be different from the governor's anymore. They're really going toe examine closely for signs of discrimination. And Laycock points out, Ari that governors can still restrict religious gatherings. They just can't restrict them in ways that are different from rules for businesses or government buildings. And now New York governor Andrew Cuomo was named personally in the lawsuit. How did he respond to the ruling? He described this as a political statement being made by this more conservative bloc that now defines this court. But in his daily coronavirus briefing today, Cuomo did also acknowledge the complicated tension here. Look, I'm a former altar boy Catholic Catholic grammar school Catholic high school Jesuit, said college, so I fully respect religion. And if there's a time in life when we need it at the time is now. But we want to make sure we keep people safe at the same time, and and that's the balance we're trying to hit, especially through this holiday season. And I should add, are that this isn't really new. Here. We've seen deadly Corona virus outbreaks in New York around religious communities following ceremonies, funerals and weddings, for example, right from the start of this pandemic, and religious leaders have clashed repeatedly with caramel, also with New York City's mayor. Over how far elected officials can or should go to limit new infections. Now, you mentioned that this reflects the new makeup of the Supreme Court, and there was some tense language in the opinions tell us about what the justices said. Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote a concurrence of green with this decision that was pretty biting. He wrote that, according to Governor Cuomo, and I'm reading here, quote it may be unsafe to go to church. But it's always fine to pick up another bottle of wine shop for a new bike or spend the afternoon exploring your distal points and meridians. That's Reference thereto acupuncture clinics that remain open in New York. Meanwhile, in her dissent, Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor pointed out that in the past, the Supreme Court has given public officials broad leeway in cases involving religion where public safety is a concern, she pointed The fact that the Supreme Court upheld President Trump's ban on immigration from certain Muslim countries. So justice Sotomayor suggesting that this ruling reflects a double standard. NPR's Brian Man, Thanks a lot. Thank you worry. It's a tough call to make telling your family you won't be

You've been diagnosed, Now What? with Marnie Clark - burst 5

"So do you find women that come to you, you know are so in fear initially that long, you know, you kind of have to talk about the ledge and and and remind them and this is one of our big messages as you don't have to fear cancer, you know cancer is just the symptom. It's not the cause exactly. Yes. Yeah, I deal with that Fear Factor pretty frequently. How do you how do you how do you talk them off the ledge when they first thing I do is to tell them this is some viable. It's absolutely survivable. This is not a death sentence. Yeah, and and less spoiled that fear down, you know into something wrong. More approachable and just get them to realize that okay, we're all here for a finite period of time. We're not it's not like no one's going to die. We all will be an eventual thing. But the important thing is to realize that you while you're here. You need to be living your life as fully and completely as you can and enjoying it and you know, gosh that's so important, isn't it? Absolutely now you you know, you mentioned initially before your diagnosis that there was a lot of stress in your life. And you know, one of our Essentials is essential number for and healing the emotional wounds and making sure that you know, you're managing your stress because Well tell us what what does stress due to the body and your immune system? Oh, yeah, it undermines the immune system to a huge degree. I mean either one of those epigenetic factors, isn't it? Really? I mean, it's it's huge and it's so important to deal with it because I mean, like I said earlier, I I I work with people all the time who are doing just absolutely perfect with their diet. They're supplements everything exercise doing all the right things but during this toxic relationship or during this horrible job that they hate. Well, I'll deal with that later. No dear really we need to deal with it now because this is important factor in cancers a wake-up call, isn't it? I mean It's it's the biggest wake-up call you'll ever get and to deal with every aspect. You can't leave any stone unturned really long and it's you know, it's about transformation and change right? Because if you keep the same lifestyle that you had precancer, you know, nothing's going to change and and I've see that so much of time, you know, women are doing everything right as far as the supplements but they're you know, they're just not progressing until they deal with the emotional aspect. And then also there's a shuttle aspect which is a huge factor that a lot of people think it's not that important. But you know, we definitely need to look at you know, what's in your mauth oral microbiome on the toxicity of the amount goes the root canals and all of those things. Yeah, I once not too long ago had a conversation with the lady who was a thermal imaging person dead. But I forget now what her exact title was but she worked with thermal imaging and she had some really interesting photos of women who had root canals and you could see how the root canals were affecting those meridians and went right through the breasts. Yeah, seeing is believing Now using fascinating fascinating. I saw that a lot as well. Now, let's talk a little bit about some of the things that you recommend for the women that you coach as far as long. I mean, we you know, as far as nutrition and then as far as the specific supplements or herbs or Chinese medicine, you know things that will really took a good cancer cells. So let's first of all let's talk about nutrition. What are the basic things that you recommend? I recommend the people do daily juicing or smoothies one or the other whichever they prefer or switch off because there's so many things that you can get from that way. It's better than taking a multi-vitamin because you're getting the nutrition at the very basic level and right into the body cells in our bodies love that. Yeah, and there are so many things that you can do like even just even just juicing a stalk of broccoli the things that you'll get out of that. Hi slow. Yeah powerful. So yeah, carrots and beets and all of the greens spinach all those things makes such a huge difference and they taste good too. I mean, it's super simple just takes minutes and you provided yourself with an amazing amount of nutrition organic eggs go ahead and has to be organic. That's that's a whole other subject, isn't it? But yeah, and so and beyond that I just I don't say to people, you know, you need to go off me you need Volkswagen. I'm not I'm not that strict. I just believe that make it as clean as possible, which what you enjoy eat from the rainbow. I hear people say that all the time but it's so true the brighter color than it is the better it is for you. So yeah loads of loads of vegetables loads of fruit. And if you're going to eat meat make sure it's as clean as it can be in organic or free-range just really good stuff. Yeah. Now do you follow the blood type diet? I don't so much anymore. I was reading the books. Mostly someone handed it to me and said, you know, you need to know about this page, right? I do believe that it works for some people. Yeah. Yeah. I did it many years ago. I'm an old blood type. So it made a lot of sense to me cuz I was vegetarian for thirty years and I just after a while it just wasn't working for me, especially as I got into menopause and yeah, okay. And then what about what about targeting cancer cells? How do you how do you deal with that in boosting the immune system? Okay. So I saw it sort of depends on where a person is in their Journey, but for for someone who is considered cancer-free just looking looking forward to home. Staying well and no recurrences. I I strongly recommend people be taking something to work with the hormone levels. Sometimes it's a damn sometimes it's the calcium gluconate depending on you know, there's particular situation. I do like Dem a lot but but for boosting the immune system, I haven't found anything that works better than those medicinal mushrooms the mushroom last. Oh my goodness turkey tail and China and Russia and maitake. They're incredible. Absolutely incredible. I followed Paul stamets four years the the mushroom guy, you know the most mushroom Guru, he knows about mushrooms and gosh the things that are coming out from the research studies just fabulous. I don't think he owns his own mother healed herself with a combination of herceptin and turkey tail mushrooms. So just got off. So human is another thing that I wouldn't be without curcumin is amazing. So many things not just for not just for cancer, but for me, you know reducing inflammation in the body and targeting cancer cells and yeah, really incredible stuff. Let's see. What else do I like em. I do recommend co Q ten for people who are going through radiation and chemotherapy. I think that's a really important one for them to have absolutely. Good, and I've got a whole long list of things. But from Main ones are the you know, dealing with the hormone aspect and you know off the medicinal mushrooms, I think are really super I've heard a lot. I've been I mean dealing a lot with people who are getting mistletoe therapy to 4 a.m. Address of cancers. Is there someplace on the US where people can get mistletoe therapy pretty easily. If you can get a doctor's prescription you can get there's a couple of pharmacies. I know I did it during my second healing journey and it's really simple. It's just the you know Sub-Q injection off and when there is some. Some clinics that I believe offer it i v as well, so yeah, it was great. So Marnie if there were parting words of birth Is dumb for women who are on the healing Journey? What would you what would you tell them? I I I really think that if they can align themselves, you know with their inner wisdom their inner healer and just tap into that. We know our bodies better than anybody else and if you are feeling like a therapy just isn't going to be for you then don't do it. Choose the ones that make sense to you do your research? Dive

How To Communicate With Your Body Using The Language Of Energy With Ellen Meredith

"So to bring on our special guest for today Ellen Meredith Ellen is the author of the newly released book which we're going to talk about today. The language your body's speaks and intuitive and energy medicine breath with thirty years of experience. She has served on the Faculty of Energy Medicine by near Donna Eden since two thousand and dead and ditches. Healing techniques all over the world. And in today's episode, we're GONNA explore what she shared in her new book. The language. Your Body speaks to Ellen. Are you ready to inspire. Awe! But what I want to? Do is maybe help people. Find their inner inspiration, the inspiration that comes from them, because each of us is inspired by different things, and in different ways and I love to celebrate how different we are and helping people find their own path to To Awareness Afo I love that you sort of. Play the role of a mentor so that you can find people in the regulations and allowing them to take steps that will help them find their way, which is one full We usually start our show with the any inspirational court. Is it a cord that comes to mind right now? Something that you can share and maybe tell us how you apply that court in your day-today life. Oh Wow okay I'm not one of those people who actually works for quotes from quotes I actually like to come up with things to stay in the moment that are true for the moment because I'm really a language. And so That's a hard one for I. don't carry around. Quite S- per. Se so yeah. I'M NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA. Give one. In that way, but I'm hoping that as as we talk I'll say things that will strike on people and. They don't have to quote me, but maybe awaken them to their own quote. Create sounds good. I love that We're GONNA, have some gun moments. Today's episode because I love Qigong and I know that in your book you draw a lot from traditional Chinese medicine. Right when you talk about five elements, dog bar the Meridians and things like that So how did it all begin you like? Where did it all start Maybe she could talk about your childhood. What was it like? Okay well I was originally trained by inner teachers and It actually started as you know before I became aware that I was psychic or intuitive abilities, I was very attuned to languages and I talked a little in the book about how I used to listen to foreign language programs. All the time I was just fascinated and I felt like I am I could understand them, even though I didn't know what the words were I felt like there's something in language that speaks to US beneath the specifics of the words, and then later on. I writer, I'm a creative writer as well as I finished a novel, and I was waiting for inspiration and my grandmother WHO's dead so up behind me with a message for me. and. I thought well. This is interesting and I voted down. And through a series of coincidences, I ended up at a little, psychic fair, and the psychic looked at me, and she said you're maternal. Grandmother is standing behind you message for you, and then she repeated the message that I had gotten already. And I was a little bit of a Brat I said well. It doesn't have anything new to say. But, but I was very interested is. I s the psychic. Are you reading my mind, or are you really tuning into my grandmother? Is She really there and I give her credit because this was a five dollar reading and she said. My belief that your grandmother's really there and that you're picking up on her energy, and that you can get messages, and if you just would slow down, listen, you would hear them so couple days later I was cleaning my house, which was an unusual activity for me at the time. And I noticed the ticker tape in my head of letters and I thought yeah. Wonder if they say anything, so I started writing them letter by letter on the typewriter, and they were a message from my inner teachers, and they said we're going to teach. We're GONNA. Come train. You were GONNA give you. We're going to give you a insights. We're going to explain things, and then you're going to have experiences in your life that teach you how to understand the perspective that were introducing, and so I went through a very intensive at least well. Trained because say seven years, but it's forty plus years. I've been doing it for many many years now, and they're still trading me. But they did at some point. They. Get very ill and in the process of healing. You'RE GONNA learn how to become a healer. And I thought well. That's okay. Wasn't something that I set out to do. But it happened and moved to California I did get very sick. I went to a doctor who said I can't help you. What you have isn't medical, or you know isn't something that medicine can help you going to send you to a complimentary. Practitioner. And so I went to this applied kinesiology. She was a chiropractor and I'm Chris just enchanted? She worked with Meridians and and various subtle energies, and I had never heard of any of this stuff, and what I discovered in the process of getting better was that I could see my own energies I could see her energies. I could predict what the muscle test they do. Muscle testing in that tradition what they were going to say and I could look at the pills on the wall of the supplements and I knew which ones I needed, and what doses would be and ever occurred to me that this was possible except. There I was with nothing to live there while she worked with me and it was like I. This woken me and. That's how I got started and. When I was? Had recovered that practiser called and said Hey, can you do that with other people and I said? And I went in, and I was able to see what was going on for other people, so I started working in her office as a medical intuitive and people started coming for channel readings and healings and it just it just grew from there

Why Are There 60 Minutes In An Hour Instead of 100?

"Today's question is why do we measure time the way we do at the first glance? It seems like it's a sensible thing. Until we start delving into it, so let's start with the day. What is a day? A day is just the amount of time that it takes our globe to make a full rotation on its axis, simple right, but then we divided day into twenty four parts for some reason, and then of those twenty four hours we measured those in sixty minute increments for some reason, and then we get down to A. A minute we measure that in terms of seconds again a collection of sixty for some reason, but when we get two seconds, we measure those in the most popular numerical system today, the decimal system, so we talk in terms of a hundredth of a second, Ori Millionth of a second, but why? How do we even start measuring days in dividing them this way well, the Babylonians were measuring time in what's called a sexist decimal system as opposed to a decimal system. They were based on sixty instead of base ten so earlier, we said the decimal system is the. The most popular and it makes sense right because the vast majority of human beings have ten fingers. It's very easy for the human species to count to ten. So why would you use something that relies on sixty? Or why would you use something that relies on twelve well? When we look at the Babylonian System, it actually makes some sense. There is some method to this ancient madness and here's why if we use the base ten idea ten to one hundred, the notation that we would have to make measure a specific time of day would become ridiculous very quickly. Quickly and complicated as well. The thing is that sixty has some advantages because sixty. If you just break it down is essentially five times twelve, then it has both the advantages of a ten and twelve as a system, so that is why it makes sense for us to use sixty seconds and sixty minutes, but the big explanation that no one's figured out yet is how this spread around the world did it happened because it was an accident of history. Did it happen because it was really the most efficient way that human beings have figured out how to measure? And one last thing we're all familiar with a PM. AM stands for Anti Meridian, and PM stands for Post Meridian. These are terms that came about during the Roman era when they used to divide the entire day into two things just am and PM. This was so important in fact that they used to have these people whose Job was to wait until the sun crossed over, so they could run to the forum and say everybody. Okay, it is noon. It is officially he am and the reason. Why is because lawyers were required to show up by new?

Live - Throwing Copper

"Hello everybody. Welcome to audio judo. I'm Matthew I'm kyle. Thanks for joining us today. Indeed Al How're you doing? I'm doing pretty good. How are you doing well? That's good it's good to hear. Superman does good. I do well very nice. Thanks thirty rock. We got some business I do. Oh good let's talk earlier this week. We were lucky enough to talk to One of my musical idols. Fish the ex lead singer of a progressive rock band from that. Was that still around now. But was very popular in the eighties Very continues to popularity in Europe not so much in the states The band's name was Meridian fish is about to release his final studio album later this year and he was gracious enough to join us from his home in Scotland and chat for about forty five minutes or so. It was great Since our timeline might be out of wack currently That episode mice most likely aired before this one did so if you are joining us for the first time to listen to this episode. I encourage you to go back. And listen to that one as well Gave us some great info about the current state of the music industry regarding re Corona Virus. Yeah and some other super stuff as well as well as cooking. Lovely lamb dinner for his mother while he was on the phone with us so that was a great interview. I really enjoyed it. That was fun is fun. Talk to once. You can understand what he's saying. I'm just kidding. That's surprisingly had no problem with that. Just a couple words yet. A Scottish before we had talked to matthew was like Ilyas a Scottish brogue in his voice and I was like okay. So I'm really going to pay attention. I picked it right up. I don't know how good I mean. It wasn't fancy than me. I guess that's good. Yeah there was only one time where I was kind of like. What was that word but that I think we both looked at each other. Like what the heck was that word but we got ammos great. We got it through context. I believe yeah also Again since I don't know exactly when this will be airing I'm not entirely sure where we will be. In the Corona Virus Saga Twenty Twenty. Either way the crisis it has affected everyone including independent artists trying to carve out a living back in October. We interviewed a band of Kentucky. Named the cold stares they're great ban really wonderful guys And this crisis hit them. Quite hard. Cancelled all their gigs. That they had lined up for the summer as well as putting a stop to some of their teaching gigs for the time. Being since most of those are done in person they put together a special t shirt that they are selling for twenty five bucks to help supplement their lost other. I bought a couple And if you'd like to buy one or just have a look at them Encourage you to go to their merchandise site. It's the cold stares dot square dot site. Anything you can do to help out would be appreciated that includes paying for some downloads. Listen their music or whatever but your independent artists out. There is most likely struggling big time so if you want to listen to them or you have one in particular that you enjoy listening to throw him a couple of downloads. Do whatever you to help them out because this is a very difficult time for everybody. Yes it is. That's all I have for old business. So this week's choice. Nineteen ninety four album throwing copper by the group live just so we're clear. This was one of my favorite bands from that period. And this record is probably my top fifteen. Those lists are always really difficult kind of weird to make. I'm not saying that this is one of the top fifteen records ever made or that. I even think this is one of the best top fifteen records that I could listen to. It's just one of those records that I go back to a few months and listen to us to have a permanent place in my multi. Cd Changer and it's one of those records at shows up in my top plays when spotify. Geezer your list at the end of the year. So was it trunk mounted multi play. Cd player it was. That's nice. It's very ah Nice. He had a removable one as well. That was an different car. But Julio that was a fancy with the little handle how Mr Rich Roller Rare. It's all it's all for the music so live. The band consists of four guys. Chad gracey on drums Chad Taylor on guitar to Chad's a Patrick Dole Heimer on bass and Ed Kowalczyk on vocals and guitar. They have been together since the mid eighties when they were all in their middle teens. Typical suburbanite garage band They were founded in York. Pennsylvania originally called public affection but renamed themselves live in the nineteen eighties right before they got a record deal. Oh they regularly played. Cbgb's in New York. Those concerts help secure their first record deal. Nineteen Ninety one nineteen ninety-one New Year's eve of Nineteen ninety-one to be exact. They released their first album mental jewelry. And that was the first I ever heard of them or saw them to be more precise oh I saw them and heard them for the first time on. Mtv's twenty minutes It was for song called operation. Spirit the tyranny of tradition and it was very direct for me when I first thought it caught me off guard. It was very jarring so I was at that time. Nineteen year old kid about three months away from meeting my future wife smoking. A lot of we'd drink a lot of beer very angry and confused about my life and prospects I've been raised. Catholic went to Catholic school and was jaded mad about a lot of things I had been raised to believe. We're true. My parents were devout Catholics. My was a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church which in Catholicism is as close as you can get to being a priest without actually becoming one more than anything because he had been married. I my mom also had a certificate in theology from the seminary which as close as you can get to being a nun without actually being one more than anything because she had been married. I pattern here. So they taught classes on sexuality and marriage so yeah it was weird. Oh boy that's very weird however that was fun as was very strange but they were not strict. Like you would expect. Yeah I had to go to church every Sunday But I still watch rated movies. My parents drank. They knew I did too so it was fine but I was angry because it all seemed like a big scam to me And I realized that we're kind of far afield from music but it's kind of relevant so when I was a kid I was really bought into this charade I was an altar boy sang in the choir played. Drums and a host of different events at the church went to Catholic school and I believed what I was being taught because that was what I was raised to believe but then I got into high school and I started forming the person I was going to become and began to think for myself I started. Look things look things differently right? I went to a pretty liberal Catholic highschool and in our religion classes which were daily especially towards senior year. We were encouraged at some point to explore different religions. I'm sure it was under the guise of comparison shopping but it opened a lot of is because other religions or spiritual practices made a lot more sense than the pomp and tradition of Catholicism especially like during Easter or something.

So Many Protests

"What's the level beyond tea party like? What's the next big boss so okay? Idaho's Idaho Freedom Foundation. I'm not sure who really the big bosses. I don't know fits Betsy Devos's family. Yeah they're definitely part of it. Her brother Eric. Prince is the head of Blackwater. Yeah so far right wing conservative family that wants to get public education and who own their own army. Yeah there's shock. Yeah yeah this is a family who wants to privatize everything brave. Because they've already shown how they can privatize and military exactly yeah. I don't know how well known it is but all of those numbers on how many troops are in Iraq. Were all about half with the real numbers were because of Blackwater and quote Mercenary Contractors. No of course mercenaries. Yeah Yeah and so anyway the the Devos and the Prince family are. They're actively involved in all of this funding some of the groups in particular the group that that's behind the Michigan New York Virginia rallies that Donald Trump tweeted about right because he had his own hand. I'm sure in making those I mean. He's actively said that. Oh Yeah He. He's actively saying that. He has all of the power. Not The governor's but the governors have to be doing everything and we should be doing all this sheltering in placing and not shutting out of these businesses but liberate these states because Second Amendment right which is a convoluted convoluted convoluted argument at best. It's not even a convoluted argument. It's it's not even an argument. He's you can't say trump can't say that he has absolute control over this because he doesn't especially when he also follows that with the. I'm completely not responsible for any of this right. He's trying to have his cake and eat it too. Which only works with far right wing groups that are being funded by a family that gets their money from government contracts war profiteering Yup and I mean today. The day of recording. We We had a big protest down the neighborhood. Park Kleiner Park in Meridian. It was a bunch of women in their kids. They're all playing on the playground. Equipment Co. Cram packed in there Because it was public property and they had a right to have access to it It was also funded by Freedom Foundation. And that's that's a logical follow-up to the protests that happened on Saturday on the purchase happened on Saturday with more than a thousand people in attendance at the Idaho State Capitol the Idaho. Freedom Foundation was the main group behind it but there were libertarians. Gun rights groups anti VACs groups all. They're waving their flags. Yeah it was. It was not a pretty scene. There is a lot of hostility. There were people being abused. Beaten I wouldn't say beaten but there is a couple of people who got pushed around and the cops protected the whole time. The people are getting pushed around or the people doing the pushing of the people. Doing the pushing no the people who were there protesting the cops are there to make sure that nobody got really hurt. But that didn't stop these people from hurting people who were protesting their protest. Yeah and a lot of these people were carrying guns. Yeah it was open. Carry season out there. It was which because that's what that's really about. Which if you're having a I know there are people who would argue this. But in my opinion a protest with guns is not a peaceful protest. No because the gun automatically is a sign of intimidation not right. If it's I mean that's how I feel if you have a rally with a bunch of people with guns that scary. Yeah with people with guns. That looks to me. A Lot. Like a military formation a rebel group of militia a peaceful protest in this case they weren't marching basically a peaceful protests. There does the other side feel that they can also protest so do you have equal protests anti protest groups going on in protests. Like this one where there was a lot of open Kerry. There was a lot of angry yelling people. There was no chance for an anti protest to develop because those people would have been in actual danger right and the whole point of this protest was too loudly and very aggressively. Threatened the government. Yeah and got away. Scot-free technically everyone in that protest committed a misdemeanor by being there yet but committee and getting charged with and actually be punished for are very different and also. There's no way that the state of Idaho could arrest more than a thousand people. Oh please tell me that. There's no way to tell if even five percent of them have guns. Yeah Yeah. It's really frustrated. Heather Scott from northern Idaho was of course all behind it. It's just it blows my mind that she's running that nobody's running against her so she's guaranteed in for the next. You know what the. Hell
