Britt Lyle II on design
"Your host Maris cherry and this week. I'm talking with Britt Lyle the second a Motion Graphics designer here in Atlanta, Georgia. Let's start the show. All right. So tell us who you are and what you do. My name is Britt Lyle. I am a motion graphic designer. I'm a graphics assistant at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Now, I've been asking everyone, you know kind of starting off for these interviews how they're sort of holding up right now, you know, we're recording this right now in late September. It's pretty easy. I think well known that we're going to be in the states for a while. Now, how have you been holding up during this pandemic? Oh, wow, there have been like there been good days and bad days. I've been holding up generally well, but like there have been, you know good days and bad days. Like I said I tend to deal with anxiety sometimes so that has been kind of a struggle wage. Kind of cope with along with like just regular anxiety Then the election and covid-19. Like one of the things I learned in grad school is like you have to take time to for yourself, especially in stressful situations. And this entire year has just been one big stressful situation off. So it's very very important to like make yourself as comfortable as possible. Especially someone who like regularly deals with anxiety and off. Yeah, so I just basically just tried to make sure that if I feel like in some type of anxiety attack coming that I make sure to remove myself from the situation and ground myself before coming back to reality so to speak gotcha. Now let's talk about your work at sports and entertainment and can you kind of briefly describe what a MB sports and entertainment is and just sort of what is a regular day like for you right now since you're working from home, so am be Sports entertainment. We are sort of like a company within a company job. We do work for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. My job specifically is Graphics assistant. So basically that means I help out anyone else you need help with any other big project whether it's coming up with Gameday Graphics video editing color correction or any other regular or irregular occurrence. I might occur to you today. How did you get started there on a whim a lot of a lot of the jobs that I've gotten in particularly designed jobs of Applied on a whim. So I was laid off at my previous job, which I was very very sad about and I was just applying applying everywhere that I can and I saw the post for graphics assistant at a MB. And again, it was one of those things for me. It's like I can't in good conscience past this up and say Thursday. I tried everything that I could so I apply thinking that like I wouldn't hear anything and they turned out to be one of the few people that actually gave me like like three rounds of interviews and hired me within like a month. Nice. Yeah, so you mentioned, you know kind of working on these, you know, not random projects, but you kind of work on an ad-hoc basis as an assistance. So are there any sort wage projects that you like take the lead on or you always kind of working in that second kind of capacity mostly in a secondary capacity because there are people who have been there since the building open since as soon as construction ended they hired a design team and those and some of those people have left but there are still some people have been there since its Inception and they kind of know they build out the process. They're the ones who really like all the assignments all of the the dimensions birth. All the renders all of these little details. They're the ones who built it from the ground up and I'm essentially follow the process. I'll give my two cents every now and then if I feel like it'll help but for the most part they have pretty much have like a game plan laid out for how certain things are done and how certain things are processed. And so, you know, just so folks name Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta is fairly new. I think it was opened and what 2018-2017 2017-2017? Okay, and then prior to that it not in the same space, but pretty close to it was the Georgia Dome that's where I used to work actually years and years and years and years ago. I worked for the Georgia Dome the the Georgia World Congress Center and since Olympic Park, so I'm familiar with that whole kind of campus area and I know back then I mean Georgia Dome all that is owned by the state, but Mercedes-Benz is privately owned. Do you know if off? Any of the the Congress Center staff works there also since it's so close not intimately like I think some people transferred but I mean as far as I know most people have been there since MBS was a thing. I'm not sure if any other people from Georgia Congress moved on to other projects, but I do know that they got a lot of different people from a lot of different places to kind of help build this team up. Yeah. I was just always curious about that cuz I still know a good number of people over there so long what's the best thing you would say about the work that you do? All of the work that I do is like kind of unconventional and well, I guess not unconventional like sort of a dimension sizes that I do that I work with like no one else in the world really works with these type of Dimensions cuz inside the stadium there's this song Halo board, and it's like six feet high, I think it's got like Fifty four thousand LED lights on it and the the file sizes and the dimensions that we work with are just pretty unorthodox and pretty wild to kind of like work with and when I first got started, you know someone I got trained in art school or just doesn't in designing was as the standard 1920 x 1080 and then suddenly I have to deal with sizes that are like fifty thousand nine fifty thousand five thousand or ten thousand sizes and it's kind of weird but it's also kind of cool cuz like you you kind of makes my portfolio stand out a little bit off and yeah, I guess that would be the best thing is that like I do I do the type of design that are very different than anyone else does and it may be kind of hard to put on social. Which is why I tend to put it on my website, but at the same time like not a lot of people can say they have designed the stuff that I designed and
Kansas City Chiefs allowing reduced capacity at stadium
"This announcement by the Kansas City chiefs I haven't seen too many articles on it but I was a little bit surprised that they actually have a number in mind of fans who were going to be able to go to Kansas City, chiefs games, and they're looking at about twenty two percent of capacity which we did the math it's sixteen, five, seventeen, thousand answer I don't know how you pick the fans get to go in. Because if you're going to have a lottery was season ticket holders and then you rotate there, how do you decide? Do you want to go to the first game? Do you WanNa, go to a great match up with somebody I don't know how they're going to do that. But the chiefs announced that yesterday the Falcons had said that they are keeping with state and local requirements. Capacity at Home Games would be ten to twenty thousand at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Seattle Seahawks-Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 to be played without fans
"See Hawks on the practice field in full pads for the first time. A training camp yesterday preparing for their opener September 13th in Atlanta, a game that will have no fans at Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium. Due to the Corona virus pandemic. What aboutthe Seahawks they have yet to determine whether or not fans will be allowed to coach Pete Carroll says they'll be prepared for that possibility to not have the twelves in the stadium. Okay, That's relative. We have a great Crowd goes nuts. The places. I don't know how much they count on their fans, but way have to will be accustomed to it. To some extent, we'll get going really once we're there, and we've done it a couple times. It won't be a big deal.

"There there is is this this contagious contagious this this to to re re opening opening and and we're we're in in the the middle middle of not only a global pandemic that is impacted so many American businesses and we are in the middle of a quarter second quarter twenty twenty supposed to be an amazing quarter and now we're going to be down thirty plus percent a lot like the depression here we are in a week where we had another chewed more than two million people lost their jobs this week more than two million people are sort of we're we're up to forty million forty million jobs have been lost over the last ten weeks and I and I think about what how many people is that per day it is it's a staggering number to half a million more than a half million people that's eleven and a half Mercedes Benz stadium's on a good on a good day right begin been given a pink slip now there is good news about if you look at that that's going to see the headline Alan is this Hey we've got forty million people that are jobless no no no they filed a jobless claim it actually doesn't mean the forty million who are employed about twenty were at twenty one million continuing claims continuing claims are those who are still in place so that's a lot of people millions or maybe not the full twenty million if if you look at the two differences forty million jobless claims Israel initially lost job twenty one million people now continuing to be jobless does that mean we've we've had nineteen million hirings probably not exactly the math doesn't work out perfectly like that but millions and millions

"To our Mercedes Benz stadium Paul crane alongside Jarvis Davis teacher Batiste all the field will be joining us throughout the game north Gwinnett with the ball first here as they are in a hurry to kick things off was a touch back to running plays it's now a third and three from the twenty seven yard line for north Gwinnett they're moving from our right to our left J. R. Martin the quarterback to give to Devin Crosby he's got the first down a little more as he bangs off tackle a nice run a good start to move the chains for the Bulldogs of north Gwinnett yeah looks like the north Gwinnett has found a little sweet spot of the middle of a defense and there it is looks like they're trying to go try to take advantage of but this out this or differential front get J. R. Martin is the quarterback he's a senior last year it completed sixty four percent of his passes twenty touchdowns only six interceptions two wide receivers to both sides of him and they give us to Crosby and Hey is stacked up with the line of scrimmage I don't think he saw a Jarvis a loss of one maybe two on the play a good portion of that defensive line by Colquitt county lot of penetration looked up to me to let the fans on it seems like they might hurt me all their places so if you plan around the back field that's what's going to happen you're going to get a nose tackle for loss qua Haynes can bury a night in a Jonathan bell of the three for all the cold creek county Packers a loss of one on the place second eleven toss out to Josh downs he turns it up field across the forty five before he's had a first down for north Gwinnett and the first time we've got the call the name of the North Carolina commit Josh down it's just down through it with a nice case right there out over the flat ADD immediately get Sophia to make the move so we can all get their yards medical lots and you don't want to play around tried to due to be removed so you can get these many jobs you possibly can first possession of the game north Gwinnett and Colquitt county the Bulldogs of north Gwinnett at their forty six yard line Martin makes the get the Crosby that keeps it himself goes straight ahead do about the forty eight perhaps pushing the forty nine a gain of around for for the quarterback J. BIG3 basketball 2019: How to watch Week 6 of Ice Cube's 3-on-3 league on CBS Sports Network
"Five one nine eight nine nine two two six Clinton facts tonight Morales against Nova are pre game at five thirty Chris had a very Korean Danny with the play by play at six ten points won the opener on Thursday three home runs for Nelson Cruz that was a home runs in four consecutive games he adds another one last night mags Kapler a three run bomb early twins crew six to the final and good pitching performances out of burritos end of big money Mike Pineda went seven innings last night once again twins when it's six to two so we'll see your progress can I keep the starters on a role for the twins more on that a little bit later on Minnesota United FC bad connection this long your Eric you know they talk about MLB pitchers and catchers go to camp the end of February the game start now end of February but there's no doubt the balloon started training way back in the winter months they started out on the road in March this season runs through October yeah they have their own marathon going on and really right now it's two seasons in one remember Minnesota United has reached the semifinals of the U. S. open Cup which is played during the regular season of MLS and they're gonna play Portland in a few weeks in the cop but of more importance is what they've got going on tonight at the soccer cathedral known as Ollie ons feel they will host the Vancouver Whitecaps Vancouver twenty points tied for last in the MLS west they are winless in their last ten matches all six and four Minnesota by the way thirty four points and right there in the thick of the playoff chase in the M. L. S. west of course the wounds of never made the postseason and Stevie T. if you count MLS matches and U. S. open Cup play menu has an eight game on beacon street dating back to early June so on paper this looks like a slam dunk a lay up you'll pick your analogy but these are the games that can be dangerous they need to clean three here they don't get a clean three they could drop in the standings quickly yeah and that is quite a story considering how dreadful they were on the road in years one and two in Major League Soccer they they have certainly found the right formula on the road it is it is a good story and I think apply all appearance I would reward these fans really been on board since the days and blame when they played in the north American soccer league and made the move to MLS and once again Ali on field continues to get rave reviews and they they've been able to improve the product in there was a lot of talk of between year two and year three in the move Dalian's feel and how they needed upgrade any you've got to give Adrian heath well I think was on the hot seat many ogle's probably on the hot seat doctor bill McGuire the majority partner right the the front man if you will for Minnesota United FC is a competitive guy and they needed to improve so not only it's just new stadium that's gonna wear off at some point in time you have to have a winning product this sports market is way too competitive and there's a lot of people that know the sports market Chris right came over from the timber wolves now is the president over there they know that it is hard to maintain that you know once you build the base putting a product on the field that wins games is very important yeah it's it's a saturated sports market no doubt about it the pie is sliced into a lot of smaller pieces with the exception of the purple that's the total eclipse of the sun when the Minnesota Vikings or start playing as they have now in training camp but I I think your point is well taken yeah they knew they were going and Ali on field this season there would be a honeymoon with the new venue and they've sold out all the MLS matches but guess what they need to make the postseason and now they've been playing well enough for the fan base is suddenly saying yeah we expected because if you look at the team Minnesota United came in with two years ago it Lana United FC they won the Cup last year they were averaging seventy thousand fans a game down at Mercedes Benz stadium so their expansion because in Atlanta already has won the Cup LA F. C. came in last year and L. A. S. C. has quickly morphed into a power in MLS so if you compare Minnesota United to recent expansion teams the bar of expectation is high and I realize every franchise goes about building a team a different way Minnesota United been a little more conservative in in the way they've allocated in gold out their cash but it's time to cash in on your right about bill McGuire he he knows they got to get it done because this honeymoon will landed Ollie ons but what a wonderful venue it is in Vancouver's there tonight and don't forget on September third Megan Rapinoe Alex Morgan and company the U. S. women the World Cup winners times too we'll be here to play Portugal in that victory tour that's gonna be a fun night yeah and and Megan do in interviews talk show appearances why not I exactly I I know I'm gonna try to get out there and see that match I I might even get an Alex Morgan Jersey in where I love Alex Morgan here's the thing about Major League Soccer go they they've been in this period of rapid expansion of rapid growth they they finally reached critical mass of fuel causes leagues been around awhile and they finally got to the point where teams are building facilities white collar young's field they've they want to get on board they want to get into the mix but the simple fact of the matter is that they're getting good players but it's still not a league that both the best players in the world and going forward for me that this challenge because when it comes to American football as players in the world are in the NFL they're not in the CFL they're not playing overseas the NBA the NHL M. L. B. the one thing you can say and for that matter the PGA tour you could argue that there are quality players on the European tour there are quality players on the Asian tour but as a whole the best players in the world are on the PGA tour so when it comes to American sports I believe that's a gigantic challenge for M. L. as in Major League Soccer going forward because they can't say that that the best players in the world there there are good players there are maybe some players that had great careers Wayne Rooney comes to mind who plays here but he's he's on the downside of his career that's the challenge from melos going forward they can't say with the other leagues can say no and eventually I I think they're going to have to get to that level it's going to take a while they're there sure of these new soccer specific venues has helped because what you have or wonderful facilities that are fan friendly and I I think the athletes like performing in them but it but but you have major leagues in Italy you have up the army ranger leagues in Spain and drive in America and then of course the premier league all you yeah that's exactly right so it's going to be a much bigger challenge to get to the point that point on some level where you can say yup we have the best players in the world or some of the best players in the world I don't think I'm as can say they are not yet wind in Britain for me that's that's a challenge competing in in the big picture in the Markham what's they will need at some point in time by the weather up to twenty four franchises right Austin Texas comes in next year so they're gonna get a football club as they like to say Miami with David Beckham is part of the ownership group now there's a little splash for you back bend it like Beckham so he'll be down in South Florida that's going to put him up to twenty six and I know there are other cities they want in on this like Detroit I think San Diego was expressed in San Diego and I don't know so yeah there are a number of others but well as it could get to thirty right now I think that's probably pretty much that's kind of the number N. B. A.'s at thirty NHL's thirty one NFL's thirty two M. L. B.'s thirty right gel soon to be thirty two yes yeah the Seattle Sakai's that's what I'm hoping they're called but it but here's my point eligible make one they're gonna need at some point to you know kind of a get into what you were touching on Stevie T. if you go back in time this is old school but what put the AFL on the map with the NFL getting guys like Joe Namath and Bobby bell and taking them from the NFL so MLS is gonna need to do that at some point and get some starts from the European premier league or elsewhere and have them come over here to the states and in Canada there's a few teams in Canada as well my opinion not gonna happen not gonna happen in your life times not gonna happen in my lifetime not gonna happen in any of your kids lifetimes the reason why is because this country is I wouldn't say they're fractured with their resources but you talk about other countries around the world what is the number one sport what is the number one athletic endeavor that is in most of these countries around the world it is not basketball it is not American football it is not baseball is not hockey it is it is international football it is soccer and you are not going to have the ground swell that you would in England or Spain or Germany or Brazil or Australia or Japan for most of these other sports then you will for international football they are there's just nothing the yeah these these the papers over there if if you have a cricket match a rugby match that'll that'll garner some headlines football F. U. T. B. O. L. is going to be the main source of your sports page it's not going to be the M. L. B. home run chase is not going to be the patriots going for another Super Bowl it's not going to be whether lebron James can make the Lakers a title contender it is going to be soccer yeah so I I agree Jonathan we we are not going to get to that level in this country it would it would just not an astronomical financial package and also recruiting somebody with the pitch of come over here and raise the level of the MLS with your name your they they would need the the money that you would need to get for them for that you're not get yes you're gonna get probably two three four five times that in Europe people like Cristiano Ronaldo Leonardo messy little messy is one the best players in the world and he's from Argentina they can't get him to stay in Argentina and Brazil and that area Chile that part of the world and they are soccer mad that's because the money is in Europe not going to get that kind of money I anywhere else on the globe I I can remember when the Vikings played the Steelers in twenty thirteen in London and I went over to the UK and the day before I saw Chelsea and Tottenham played the old Hotspur venue and we walked through the player's parking lot on our way out of the stadium and while what they drive I thought it was impressive what I've seen at winter park in the TCM Lamborghinis yeah whatever the thing he's rolls Royces porches I was like holy buckets these guys are doing well in into you know what Jonathan is saying about the coverages true because after that Viking Steelers game at Wembley the twenty thirteen game another break is but the Browns as well over there and it was a great game at eighty thousand fans next day pickup the London tabloids it's all soccer I mean all soccer some rugby I know it about page thirty there was a story on the Steelers in the Vikings and blind I know commissioner Goodell didn't like it but that's the way it is three twenty one here at C. C. O.

How did NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defend the league? Well, he didn't really defend it at me. Obviously, everyone knows that was a horrible. Call them say a very obvious pass interference call which we can't say for certain would have given the New Orleans Saints the victory and the ticket to the Super Bowl. Roger Goodell said that they may change the instant replay rules that is a type of play pass interference. Which cannot be reviewed at the moment. It's a judgment call. "Would you have process dealt with covered? If if it would have been saints patriots in Mercedes Benz stadium. I wouldn't have gone to Atlanta. You go because you don't wanna deal with both those fan bases. I don't think it would have been safe. Oh, okay. Okay. I think it would have been on safe because you know, y'all you might need security. You know, they was gonna come donkey like, absolutely. You know that I know that they remember in bus riots. We used to. The stretch bus comes for any other gang. Let alone like this game. Like, this is a troll of palooza. Yeah. There there's there's there's no way around it. This is the most glorious trolling opportunity. They anybody ever would have if I was in the same situation. I would absolutely maximize my opportunity to do. So. And so now that I was here for saints in the falcons stadium. No, no, no, no, not at all. As the thing about the patriots is you'd have to ask falcons fans about this because I'm off dead narcotic. But. I would say that. The patriots didn't really do nothing to the falcons. Dow's is the falcons being who they are. Is that what I mean? Like like the falcons. The patriots were just a vessel for the falcons achieving their destiny or the falcons to falcon. Yeah. I don't feel like you could blame that on the patriots. And put it on anything else. It was just their opportunity to achieve their destiny. And then they did that saints man, that's personal relationship. And they was going to be personal jerks all of the city city, by the way, that ain't always that's safe, and it would be a bunch of jerks from a city that by the way. Something's gotta give. Yeah. That's that's true. That might that might not have been as as much fun and games as I'm thinking, it would have been would it would have definitely gotten personal. And that's right because that's not it's not personal for me anymore. It is for sure personal for the people who are still in that vortex. Because I I mean, I've seen some of the Twitter back and forth. Saints Twitter is not pretty and there would have been a lot of people's Temecula. Imagine what he just said. Okay. Now's the opportunity there. Oh, make oh, you do could you imagine some of the fights in the clubs is I have told you. Yeah. You're right. You're right. This was this was this was what was best for all parties involved team in Atlanta broad told you a a woman in his injury that I'm cool, but who's from New Orleans SNL nothing was to an tagging is her about the saints laws. I think you may have been the I think it was the one in Minnesota Lashio last year. She responded by sending me a picture from. Jim Brown's nude playboy spread you. Go lowly go lower. Yup. Yup. She'd invite eighty Huber it is. That's exactly it. The sale. Obama was not strong in her. It was not. And I'm just saying like, we don't we didn't need it. I was in the j w Marriott in LA when it happened. I was standing next to my brother watching it on the on the, you know, the big TV's, they got their lobby. I'm watching the game as it happened. My brother and the look on his face was one of such. God. He just. Deflated just deflated. It just it was deflated as a begin to describe it. Because I mean, I it's just I'm trying to I'm I'm I'm remembering the Marcus what you're and I said to him. I was like Seeber Daswani told you need to join me Mike you need to come. With me, you need to mess with the boy and come to this single life. When it comes to sports teams, especially this one man because I didn't see micro hangings take a hitch right up the sideline did I didn't see Randall Cunningham through the Fred Barnes and Calvin Williams in the dome, you know, like, but I'll tell you what my brother was like, you know, what though own I made it all worth it. Oh, now, I made it worth it. And I told him even though I'm not a fan. Even though I'm not a saints fan. Some of my Fonda sports memories as an adult as a professional have been with that organization because when I was an intern at the globe. And I went back to New Orleans for college. Our stringer at that point during the school year and are covered. Saints Rams in the dome is I came up the point I ever play. Oh, yeah. Loudest stadium. I've ever heard until fast forward to two thousand and six. And I'm on the sideline. In the end zone. Okay. Like in the corner to end zone the same zone with Steve Gleason blocked the point. And that was to people talk about getting chills sporting events. Like Br I think a lot of it too. And you you notice you've been in industry for a long time like we become so caught up in the work aspect of it. So where the fan enough doesn't truly get to enjoy it the same way that everybody else is in join it every so often something will happen. You know, game seven warriors Celtics where you get to be a fan again. And you start to feel those chills. That's what happened to me on the sideline and coming back from Katrina and the emotion in they're building just, you know, everybody, you know, returning home and the reopening the dome Monday night football the energy in there. I never felt anything like that. Onto. Tracy porter picked off Peyton Manning. And I'll tell you I cry like a baby man, I cry like a baby, you know. Because I remember my grandfather, I remember all those Sundays coming from church and watching the saints game. I remember, you know, Bobby bare and Eric Martin running across crossing rows over and over, you know, are just remember the dome patrol like that was my childhood. And I knew what it meant to the city. So when people say get over it move on it happens to every team every blown calls happen. All the time is part of the game. No, no. No. No. No. No. No, no, no say that a UNC nothing like this. Okay. They've been some egregious calls. But I don't know that we've seen something this this blatant heavy every and now we have okay. So there's that part. You just really have to understand what that team is to that city man, Wayne, Wayne like them falcons fans, you know, easy. I say we right there. Falcons fans that come and go show to games that don't really care that much. Yeah. Forgive them for living in a place has got you know. Got stuff going on. Golic saying is you talk about that game in two thousand six with the Monday night, football and everything outside ebbing a bad memories for you. I'll say it is. When everybody rooting for the saints that day. That's all that's all that is becoming immortalised moment. And it's bigger it. Sometimes things are bigger than you. You know? However, I don't recall that nearly the way that you do. How do you recall it? I mean that was before Michael Vick went to jail. Gotcha. He was the quarterback, Dan. So yeah, I was still on board with that. I know joy Steve Gleason blocking that. Punt. Why would I do that? I don't know because you're human you could you couldn't give it up for one night. Even Jim Mora gave it up there one night. Now granted he has unique tires to the saints. Even he understood that was bigger than football. I just said that it was bigger than football. But you still couldn't find it in your in your heart to not in the moment like baby after some years, and that more than anything we've discussed encapsulates what it means to be the grow up in and be a part of the saints falcons robbery. Like, even a city coming back from disaster. Earth's game back in a dome that was a literal house of horrors for evacuees or people seeking shelter from the storm. Baucus fans couldn't find in their heart to enjoy the moment. Falcons bill. You could not be like good for them. Zero sum game. No, no. No, no. I mean, if it'd be good. Against somebody else. Try to be no co-starring, yo play you. So you all the way off that narcotic. Yeah. Back to a little that went back. I'm saying that went back when I was on the narcotic. I just feel like reflect on it. But it's still in there. All I'm saying is this they always showed a clip, and it's a motivational heart warming moment. It don't warm. Everybody's hard. Right. We need to recommend that was there was other people who was there like. Now that I think you'd probably find that analogy is about to make a little bit craze. Where to catch yourself? Yeah. Yeah. Now, I do it at all the time. I ain't lying about a loser. Talking about Notre Dame football game. Crazy. Italy's no, July. Yeah. I mean, who did you get on when you left the falcons, nobody. Okay. Nobody hurt a safe way to go me too. I mean, I couldn't do I couldn't sincerely just go jump on another team. You might you may. Okay. So you may judge me for this. When are when are discloses, but this was before it was really popping least in the nineties are went on became a Cowboys fan. I'm not even mad at that. This was this was remedied drafted urban in eighty eight Aikman at eighty nine and Emmett in ninety and bringing it back to the falcons in ninety one. I remember I think it was a Thursday night game where Michael Irving gave prime the business. Yup. Just like slats all day. Just sweat rouse all day. And in in our believe they went eleven and five the Cowboys did ninety one so after ninety so after that season. By the time. I might be off. Now's ninety one. No, no, no. I'm saying I remember I said I give up on the saints after the ninety two ninety three playoff that year to Cowboys won the Super Bowl ninety two. So I guess I did kind of jump on the Cowboys band way. Oh, no. No. No, no. You know, what it was that was the ninety one that was January ninety two thousand ninety one falcons that went to the playoffs because the ninety one because remember I told you I I got off after the eagles law. Oh, yeah. That's right. Ninety three playoffs. Yeah. So that was the year that the Cowboys won the first Super Bowl. So I wasn't. Yeah. I was a bandwagon. But it was fun bandwagon jump. Yeah. It was it was still pure, right? Hey, I appreciate you, man. I appreciate you have miss. Always a pleasure seriously. All good, and let's switch. Thanks for joining us here on the right time. Atlanta United wins MLS Cup with victory over Portland Timbers
"Saturday night Mercedes Benz stadium. Atlanta. Atlanta United who won the MLS Cup in just their second year of existence. You wanna talk about expansion teams thriving like the Vegas Golden Knights. Did this past year Atlanta United in just their second year of competition wins the MLS Cup two-nil over the Portland timbers over seventy three thousand people at Mercedes Benz stadium. Seventy three thousand people. Let's try to put that into perspective. Okay. The last home game for the Atlanta Falcons. Same stadium, right? They played against the Baltimore Ravens. The crowd there or they had seventy two thousand. Okay. Ninety six percent full. That's pretty good. I thought it would be a little worse because the balconies have been in a down year. But you get seventy two and chain. You get seventy two. That's okay. So the crowd was obviously not that much better. But a little bit better. Let's look a little earlier. Okay. The letter those good crowds seventy. I almost capacity against the Cowboys. Okay. You know what I take that back? I was gonna I was gonna say something negative about the people of Atlanta. Why wouldn't say anything negative about the people saying this the sports fans went up? But no, hey, they come out. Good for them. I was thinking they'd get a little worse numbers. "With the Dallas Cowboys and Mercedes Benz stadium. And to talk a little bit about the game. The man going to be calling the game as we look ahead to Sunday. Charles Davis analyst for FOX NFL on FOX. He's going to be taking in the falcons the Cowboys. And he joins us this morning on the way for dot com. Hotline charles. Hey, good morning guys. How you doing today? Pretty good pretty good. How you doing this morning? I'm doing fantastic. That's good. That's good. Hey, Charles lifts kind of get into this. Now as you look at it. Isn't it interesting in a way that four and five is how you view it? The falcons are four five the Cowboys are four and five and yet they come into this game, especially their fan bases with two totally kind of different viewpoints. The Cowboys coming enough that went over the eagles think maybe we could make a run in the falcons and their fans are hurting a little bit coming out that game against Cleveland. Yeah. And then you take the next step and look at their divisions. And there actually is a reason that the fan base would have more optimism for the Cowboys. You know, you add the win over Philadelphia. But it's not a division where you feel like the leader is running away with it because it's Washington. And you think hey, we've got another shot at them at home. I don't know that they can make super run towards the stretch. It may be Philadelphia can help us out along the way as well. Flip it over to the falcons New Orleans a sprinted out past everyone and Carolina despite getting thumped last Thursday their six and three. So everything's a must win now. Now because when the season starts every team says give me the ten wins. And I'm probably in the playoffs. So the falcons margin for error is down to one more loss. Right. You go to four and six you still there. But you don't feel there. If you're the Cowboys the whole different viewpoint. So it that that's part of what goes into where the fan base is have excitement or a little bit of doom and gloom. Charles from your perspective. We look at this Atlanta Falcons football team. Do you look at them as a team that could be a contender for a for a playoff spot? I did at the beginning of the year. I thought they were contender for a Super Bowl spot, Hugh, and then Keanu Neil goes down. Ricardo Allen goes down. Dion Dionne Jones goes down. You talked about your triangle in the back end of your defense right from the middle to the back, and it's just like baseball. You've gotta be strong down the middle. Jarrett goes down for a couple of games at defensive tackle. They've just struggled so much on that side of the ball. That is made very things very very difficult for. For them. Even though it is an offense I league, but you gotta play some defense. And that's where the struggle's been. I thought that they had turned things around when I saw them in Washington we had them in in the game against in DC. And when I saw them there and the way they were flying around on defense, you know, shutting down Adrian Peterson after shutting down saquon Barkley thought, they'd kind of made the turn that was a tough one last week to watch on tape against Cleveland and watched him get gashed Nick Charles run for ninety two yards for a touchdown and the whole deal that was a struggle. They have zero margin fair this at this stage, but their division makes it very difficult because of the way Caroline, and especially New Orleans replying, you know, when you look at that game. I'm curious because you you get a chance to watch it from from the coaches perspective. What did you see was the biggest issue defensively for the Atlanta Falcons against the Cleveland Browns? Well, the first thing I thought people struggle getting off blocks, you know, I thought that when they got blocked up Friday, they kinda stayed blocked there. And then the second part was there were missed apples in the second. On the run by Chubb who John when you look back at it. I think you saw you know, live and probably diagnosed it right away. Should have been a nine yard game. Then it should have been a twenty yard gain. And next thing you know to ninety two yard run. Know to to great opportunities to get him on the ground and open field that doesn't happen. And I know open field tackles difficult. I'm not sitting here. You know, wagging a finger like I can't believe that. I mean, that's tough. But those are the places you have to make otherwise you end up giving up a ninety two yard run. And you get an offense kick-started, and they played better against you. But upfront that offensive line had a pretty good day, you know, controlling the wideness scrimmage controlling the point of attack. And that was something that they just can't have when you were watching film. Did it did it feel like 'cause watching it? I'll tell you. I felt did it feel like the like Cleveland kinda came into that game. And they were kind of unsure at initially. But as they started to make plays. That's when they started to feel like they could actually play with the Atlanta Falcons. Did it feel like that way? Do you go? That's that's Cleveland in a nutshell, Hugh, I mean, it's absolutely Cleveland in a nutshell. Go back over the last two seasons. Forget last season go back over two seasons. And if we're able to go back, and look they have been. In in a number of games along the way. And I think that they look up at the scoreboard at some point and go, oh my God. Are we really in this, and they have no confidence that they should be and no frame of reference on how to close anything out. And that's what the cost them over the years. Well, guess what exactly what you said in this one teams like Cleveland, if you give them half, a hope and all of a sudden it comes together. And I know what you guys feel about Mayfield. I've known him since he was in college. He's the type of kid that people rally around, and he's also the type of kid that has never woken up a day in his life and thought someone was better than him and that transmits to a team. So to your point they will came in kind of like, well, let's you oh, we're doing it. Oh, well, we got him now. And he might be the kind of guy that can rally at team and bring them to the front, and we saw evidence we saw some evidence that last Sunday talking with Charles Davis NFL on FOX FOX analysts Toby calling the. Calkins and the Cowboys on FOX on Sunday. What do you expect in this game Charles? So you look at these two teams what kind of a game. Do you expect them? What do you expect to see from the falcons? Well, I expect to see an excellent game because this whole season our crew we've walked into a number of games where we've had one of the teams have a really bad week the week before or not play up to their standards and they've always gotten off the deck. And I know it gets to be cliche and trite Hugh can tell us better than anyone John. Exactly. I if I'm on target or not, but it's a week to week league. You know one week bad game. Very next week. Come out play. Really? Well, look at Carolina they were playing really, well, they go in and get mashed in Pittsburgh. Do we expect them to stay down like that? I don't expect them get off the deck. So I expect the same with Atlanta. And I think that coming out in this ball game when they look over. And they see what Dallas has this is where their pride has been stung by what Cleveland did running the football. And you know, exactly what Dallas is. Going to try and do the exact same thing. Because if you don't put it in zeke's chess, twenty plus times, you're making a mistake. We're I'm interested in watching this game to see if Dallas decides to use Dax legs or not as part of their run game. Because when they have they played much better offense when they haven't they've struggled a little bit. I don't understand why Dallas doesn't it? That's just not part of their game plan each and every week, and it would be part of my game plan, and this one would you say that speaking of Dallas, you know, my love for Dallas that Jason GARRETT'S job is on the line. I don't think there's any question about it. Just because you're talking about ten years at the helm very few playoff appearances. And this is the first time I felt like even nationally the media zeroed in on this thing. I think it's always been kind of swirling around the Dallas market, but nationally he's kind of been like. Yeah. Whatever know Jerry decides. But I've heard too many people weigh in with a natural perspective on his job possibilities on his job status that when it starts getting like that that kind of gets the attention has got runs the Cowboys 'cause he's locked in. On all of that sort of stuff. And that's kind of where they are. And you got you know, Dacca make a decision about being your quarterback. I think it's just a lot of decisions will come to a head at one time, and that will be one of them. Now, they get on a run and win their division. You can forget he's gonna continue to be the head coach there, if they don't then I think they may actually have a conversation about it. But even then I'm not sitting here saying that it's going to happen. We've watched ten years of this. And they've been very few times. And it hasn't happened yet. I know that Jerry Jones really likes him. So I'm not I'm not one of those going to spend a lot of time speculating, but our people there's no doubt about it. Yeah. Sort of the version of Marvin Lewis every time you think he's fired. He manages to save his job in some something happening mean, Marvin at least, you know, he had had a playoff run. Was it sixty five sixty or straight years where they went. They didn't win in the playoffs which was the unfortunate part for him, but they were winning divisions. They were getting to the playoffs and wildcards they had opportunities to Cowboys have been very far and feud between which is very strange for franchise of that nature, even though Pete Rozelle somewhere smiling because it is an eight eight league the parody has kicked in but some franchises you would expect to overcome parody. And to me Dallas would be one of them. Charles Davis calling the game as we get ready for the falcons and the Cowboys Sunday at Mercedes Benz stadium. You say league, and you said earlier, you gotta get to ten I think nine and seven there may be a nine hundred seventeen make the playoffs especially in the NFC this year having said that Charles just broadly want more question just broadly here we've got seven weeks to go in the NFL in the NFL season. Here the fair to say that, you know, even though you have some. Teams that are playing at a premium level. And they are. Yeah. Teams like the swampers and the Steelers. The that. I still think I kind of look at this. And this might be with with kind of a step up by New England, for example, and was some cracks in the in the Rams armor. I think it's the Super Bowl here in Atlanta. I can't right now. I mean Ramsey's gonna play the this week. Do you you see this as a slam dunk or is this could be one of those years where a wildcard team or two could make zero slam dunks John zero slam dunks. Because we've watched it too many times. We've watched those teams that look like the the locks and something happens down the stretch key injury. You know, something goes haywire. They don't get their the patriots the year they run defeated beat the giants late in the season. The giants played everyone, even though they you know, and all that. And who they ended up having to play again in the Super Bowl that giants team and Johnston beat them, and they were nine and seven, you know, to your point going into the whole thing. So I never go with a lock on it. But what I am enjoying watching how week to week it feels like in this league. We have at least one or two games that we can grasp onto nationally and go. Wow. This is a blast it. It's been a fun year. This Rams chiefs thing is going to be terrific. I don't care where they're playing it. I'm glad to you. Now that they've got that settled. But I can't I can't believe it took them this long to figure out that they weren't gonna play hair that doesn't make any sense to me. But that's a whole nother story. But every week we got those kind of games, and you keep looking ahead. And you keep seeing other ones that can. Be that. But I'm with you. I there's no lock for me on it. Despite how teams have played so far things change quickly in the NFL. You know, I'm curious. How do you think? Why do you think the young quarterbacks like, Pat, Mahomes and Baker Mayfield guys like that? Why are they coming into the league now and having so much success as you look at the past when young quarterbacks coming next the struggle little bit. Why do you think that has changed in the NFL? Well, I think Hugh you start off very very briefly with all of us parents who want our kids to be successful. And we're taking them and getting them if we get them to the right places and get them quarterback coaches when they're you know, right out of diapers. And they start breaking down coverage is reading things and doing all that that's part of it. The next part is the league actually is embracing things from below it for for the first time in my lifetime. And what I mean by that. Is it always used to be the NFL push things down to the colleges? We've pushed things down to the high schools now. Actually seeing things pump their way up to the NFL where these old warhorse coaches and some of the younger guys who are coming in have license to go ahead and use it now..

"That's got to be a misprint. Jay black Kentucky's in the top ten. That's pretty crazy. This is only the third time that the two teams have ever faced each other when they'd been ranked, but not in the top ten in the only other times it's ever happened was two thousand seven hundred forty six and now Kentucky and Georgia can both play for the SEC east champ. Sian ship. The winner takes it. The loser does not Georgia has won this division. Six times Kentucky never has. Every other year that I've been Georgia BULLDOGS fan. I look at Kentucky, and I go, okay. That's a win. Not not guaranteed this year. This is legit Kentucky team. And the reason they're legit is their defense. They're the only team in college football that hasn't allow twenty one points in a game all season their highest is twenty two. His aim 'em and are tied for the nation's lead in points allowed with Clemson the number two team in the country at thirteen. So that's what's been the reason for Kentucky's ascension they've been getting better and better under head coach Mark stoops. But this defense has kept them in every game. They're all fits struggled a little bit at times. But when you're only twenty one a game, you could be seventy one WSB sports director Jay black joining us. Big matchup tomorrow. The winner takes the SEC east crown and we'll get to the inevitable match up with Alabama in the SEC championship game at Mercedes Benz stadium. How does Georgia breakthrough that tough Kentucky defense then Jay on the air on the ground or both? I think it's going to be more in the air. I think this is going to be a Jay another Jake Frahm type of game. Like he had against the Florida Gators that was really impressive to me what he did against floor with all the kind of whining and complaining and the quarterback controversy that popped up for him to have a flawless performance three touchdowns. And basically win that game for the dogs all three of his touchdown passes on third down. So I like Jake Frahm to have a big game here. Georgia's running game got better against Florida last week. They're still not quite bashing people over the head like they weren't last year. But I think clearly as the dogs go from will go now, I might have heard you incorrectly and Atlanta's morning news. But did you did I hear you say this is Kentucky's first winning SEC seasons? Nineteen seventy eight or something like that nine thousand nine hundred seventy seven and actually that team was on probation. So they wanna share the SEC title. But they couldn't take it. So yeah, they have not had a winning record in the conference in forty one year, even with Jared Lorenzen. I remember they were decent when they had the big fella quarterback. They got around five hundred but didn't win. More than they lost. That's insane. All right. So obviously, here's another. Here's another terrific. Name the last coach of Kentucky's solo SEC champion, John Higginbotham. Bear bryant. Wow. That is a nineteen fifty. That's a great trivia question. Obviously this crowd is going to be hyped up in Lexington. Right. I mean, this is this is unprecedented for them. Oh, yeah. It's all it's like if Georgia had a chance to win the SEC basketball championship by itself. Not with a tornado involved surprise me two years ago when we went up there they had the loudest sound system. I've ever heard my life. They've done a lot of changes to the stadium. And that place was so loud, partly because of the sound system, partly because Kentucky was playing better. And Kirby smart and mentioned that earlier this week to that places a lot louder than you think it is. So it's gonna be a tough place to play and a tough place for the dogs to win the division. All right. Tell us about the action tomorrow when and where eleven thirty is our tailgate show, we'll get it..

"The packers are in atlanta to open up mercedes benz stadium with the falcons rematch of last year's nfc title game by i i'm okay say open up mercedes benz stadium i've been thinking about this because these are the kind of things i think about for some reason even though the falcons play the cup preseason games their their bids of college football games there i'm still okay with the language of opening up mercedes benz stadium so that's what i'm going to go with as far as the show today second time the to open up a stadium against dealer did that against the vikings at up it's not the best situation where you you much rather be playing just kind of a regular game and not that first game and a new stadium and it's going to be a tough one tonight for for the packers it's going to be a really tough one and i for packers they're not favored in the game they're out there the underdogs i've seen a two and a half the three points depending on where you happened to go get your point spreads if you are that type but yeah they're not they're not paper than the game it's going to be a tough test night for the packers and see out what could happen and i know everyone was talking about revenge from last year's nfc title game i don't completely by that and we'll touch on that later on in the program i've got for an hour and a half today good focus most of the graham between the brewers and the packers the brewers have as close to a mustwin as you can have today without it really being amassed when years that really truly a mustwin until if you lose that game you're out of the playoffs if the brewers lose this game today there are not technically official now the playoffs but it is it star close it's darn close and there's a i'm not trying to sugarcoat things they they need this game today yesterday was a disappointing loss and now they need to come up with a wind today and then you take to.
