Super Bowl 2019: History says Rams vs. Patriots in Atlanta could be another all-time classic

"It is the once and for all finally, we have reached. Super Bowl fifty three a game that will be played down in Atlanta, Georgia. Right around six six twenty between the New England Patriots in Los Angeles. And I think it's now time for me to admit the bitterness the anger the bad feelings I had towards this year's game have to come to an end. Because now it's game time. Now, we will think about degrade. Bella check in the great Brady. Yes. Paul for. The course something we've seen quite a bit over these last seventeen eighteen years Brady and Belichick getting ready and preparing for the night's Super Bowl going up against the boy wonder the next great young coaching store in the NFL, Sean McVeigh, and he's very very talented, Los Angeles. I'm steam and remember, despite the fact that the Rams got the benefit of the whistle. And did not get that penalty. Flag down in New Orleans. Does. The fact that this Rams team all year one of Vegas favorites to win this year Super Bowl. The Rams come into this game. We're Boorda talent. That's why you think about where this line opened up opened up with the LA Rams, basically is a one point favorite. Now that has changed you're going to see New England anywhere from two and a half to three maybe it falls to two we will have to wait and see. The reason New England is going to get that. Nod as far as being a favor, according to Vegas, according to a good amount of you. It's because of what those two gentlemen, had done throughout their entire NFL careers. It's very tough to go into these Super Bowls and pick against Tom Brady and Bill bell check. And I've done it on a couple of occasions that didn't last year had success with Philadelphia Eagles for some of you. You may be did it against the Atlanta the Seattle Seahawks and you can have success when it's twenty eight three falcons. We know what happened. Now, you're probably thinking you're going to have success bet against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick went Seattle and curse makes the spectacular catch. And they're inside the five yard line and marshawn Lynch does not get the ball. And Russell Wilson is intercepted. One of the greater Super Bowl mysteries in the history of my lifetime. This patriot team all year. According to most of us. Fans media, whoever you may be maybe thought they were losing a little bit. Maybe thought that this team didn't have the same offensive firepower. How long can Tom Brady continue to dominate on the north side of forty how much gronk have left. What about the loss of Josh Gordon who they brought in to be a big play weapon? Just goes to show you when you count out the New England Patriots. You're making a monumental mistake. And our molested picked against the patriots in the division around. Bingo well against the patriots two weeks ago championships Sunday instinct classic game. No went to overtime Tom Brady and the pats Bill Belichick and the pats still at team that's left standing. The Rams dole have avenues and ways to win this game. You don't work it. The Rams, nor should you look at the Rams. The way he did on now. The two thousand seven New York Giants who were an overwhelming underdog coming into the game. And we know what happened. The giants won a game prevented the nineteen year. You don't have that here with New England in Los Angeles these evenly matched games. In fact, you could argue one through fifty three you liked the talent of the Los Angeles Rams. A little more. Not crazy. Take reds gonna win this game. If we're sitting here Monday morning, and I'm breaking down Tom Brady going five and four now in Super Bowl games. You will need to see I think to specific keys paramount. The first band, and this is a given any time you're going up against Tom Brady, you better hit him. You better get them into the ground. You'd better sack him. Your pasteurized. Gotta do some work. I won't get Aaron Donald. I look at consumer the interior pass. Rush four. The LA Rams is going to have to play a major role. You did about age rushers. You ain't going to find a better pair of edge rushers Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. I thought off the age those guys we're gonna get the Tom Brady. But remember the game plan for New England was so good net game. He's getting rid of ball, one one and a half seconds. Two seconds bowl. It's out. So you can generate much pass rush. You get them up the middle of changes things a little bit. Aaron Donald wanna show me wise best fence player in the league. Superbowl Madama can sue who has made plenty of all pro teams over the years. Now has his chance in his first Super Bowl to go wreck. Tom Brady, he's had some big games and postseason remember one when he was with Detroit against Dallas Cowboys was in Tony romo's face. Play off the play off the play. I remember game last year. I went to data south Florida when Dominic can sue was over Tom Brady, make your life miserable. For Tom Brady to me. That's data happen. Then you have on the offensive side for LA. Todd Gurley who is one of the most electrifying playmakers in the sport. Who I would argue is the best running back in the sport. Has in. Exactly been that player. Let's be fair. Even if you look at it as a hundred yards that he had against Dallas in the divisional round. Is that what you're going to remember about that game? Of course, dont. No, you have one or two big Ron's that came was all about C, J Anderson and his ability to run the football. You at the championship game Elliott had far more success. Throwing the football running the football. We now has basically two weeks to rest up. We'll see if he's much closer to one hundred percent. I can't envision the LA Rams winning this game and Todd Gurley. He's not gonna play a major role. You know, Bella check will look to take away what you do best. Now. That's the great chess match between these still McVay and Goth trying to get to the line of scrimmage quickly. Surveying the landscape of the field and in China to figure out what they're going to do. And Bella check and his mastery China counteract at the more and more thought about that the more and more fun this Super Bowl matchup become for me. I have to admit because that idea of Sean McVeigh China show a guy. Analyzed a guy that a lot of coaches around the league now who are having great success did going to idolize Bill check because they're going to look at him as the modern day will forty gigging to look at him as a modern day Paul Brown where nobody's doing what he's doing. All these coaches seem to have a shell five all these coaches, even if they're in a job for a long period of time, they have that downturn. John Harbaugh had that downturn Tom Coughlin eventually had that downturn. Mike Tomlin now was having that downtown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dan, never happens for Bill Belichick and the patriots. They don't miss the postseason. They've only done so twice in seventeen years. Never missed the playoffs since two thousand eight and that was when Tom Brady tours ACL they are used to being in the big game. Wait a variety of different players, and how can McVay now with a roster has maybe a little more talent. Make the necessary adjustment. If need be at halftime figure out. All right. They're taking this guy away. We're gonna make this guy star or that guy star. It's fun

"And that is one thing that is really been the charges kryptonite is when rivers is pressured he feels like he has a Russian speed up his old train of thought. So. Texans attacks will be tough, but they have to get there too. So it's it's all very, very doable. For the chargers. They just can't shoot themselves in the foot. I feel like when the chargers like when we see the charges in comeback mode where they have to get stops like woes against last week. They gotta stop or against the chiefs. They gotta stop. They got a sack like Melvin Ingram. Gotta sack they marched down the field when they play to their potential, which doesn't always happen. But when they are on their their game. The charge are very very good in. They could they do like a Super Bowl team. But when they when they shoot themselves in the foot, whether it sees early turnovers these bad throws by rumors or just getting gashed on defense which happens every now and then, but they just can't afford to do that. Because the way that they get off the field on defense is sax. And just like fumbles like you saw today like that's their MO. That's that's the charge defense. In the good news about the ravens is like the you will have a chance to do that. So. Yet. It'll I I don't know if I'm gonna come on later in the week, but talk about this game. But. Skin be a really good matchup, man. If guys remember just the game last week. I thought the chargers really got punched in the face. And I'm talking like the offensive line in defensive line of the ravens just completely whip. The chargers that was I didn't think they'd be able to do that to the defense. Obviously, they weren't able to put up a bunch of points. But when it matter they were able to kind of run the ball when they wanted to get where they wanted to on offense. I feel like it has to be quick or else. Be a those guys were getting after it pretty pretty good. If the often shows of this time will be Baltimore easy. I don't know if it'll be easy, man. Baltimore is seems like a team you're probably not going to blow out. You're probably not going to just get a get a big lead on. She's all if I don't know if you guys watch the ravens chiefs game they like hog the ball. They will keep the ball away from you those. That's why they're side L play with Lamar quarterback is so good because they can rest their defense. They will have these six seven minute drives. But. Yeah. I don't know. I feel like there is lots to talk about about the ravens. But. Since the charge just play them that I mean, everything's still so fresh. We can talk about so many different matchups. It's going to it really is going to come down to does rivers have longer than two point five seconds to make a play will somebody step up on the perimeter. Because Baltimore does have a really good secondary. And Jimmy Smith is really really good. He I wonder if he's going to I don't think he followed Keenan last time. But they also yes sell something else that we probably talk about just how how much the rest played into a hand in the game last Saturday because on both sides of the ball. And this feels like it's been going on all year, not just in charge of games. Just how bad the refs are other Muskoka calls on the Opie. In slow. Maybe maybe it was. But just as far as there's another one where he had clicked kidding kidding. Actually, actually broke off Jimmy Smith and the rest is it happened right in front of the referee. Jimmy's withheld him no call charges. Punt those little things those have to be called the playoffs. So we'll see a few see the charge can capitalize speed drop off from details to Hayes power is substantial. Yeah, it is man..

"So so basically schoolwork activities each of my daughter's on a little date, whether it was shopping or movies or doing activities with them, obviously going being able to watch my son's practices every night and be there for him. So he was a good. It was fun. I was actually more tired being at home every day. Mentally draining me at the was actually going to work. So wait a minute back to catch up with them. Yeah. It was like, maybe I think I gotta go in this is. You gotta go in and get some rehab or something. You're staying right here. That's good. You mentioned your wife should now. She was actually a college soccer player. And you being the fantastic athlete that you are. Can you see in your kids already? Are they going to be good athletes? Do you can you kind of tell like this one's going to be like a stud? He's probably going to be a football player this one like a soccer player this one no athleticism there. We're going to skip that one. Yeah. Yeah. My my son I have three girls in a boy, my sons my second he's nine nine little overnight. And he's naturally good at at everything in any super driven super competitive. He's really good at football. Really good at baseball. Needs some work at basketball basketball, was was one of my favorite sports. So he kind of you know, he gets mad at me when I'm always pushing basketball, I'll go on practice, go out and practice. I don't wanna apparently I well, you're not going to be good at it. Then. So my girls my girls are naturally athletic, but they're not athletic in the sense of sports athletics. Like if you wanna play catches them. They'll have they'll be they'll be getting hit in the face of the ball much more than engine. But they're they're really good at dancing. They got rhythm there. Good gymnastics. I bought my two older girls. They do gymnastics and they're both in hip, hop and dance and ballet and stuff like that. So a sports solve my my fourth is our only hope to have a soccer player. So we're going to really push to play soccer. So we have one sport Tom girl tomboy out of the group. So well, those are my four kids in a sense would gymnast is this sport evidently, put that out there. Also, you talked about being naturally good stuff. And that's kind of what we are at the podcasting gang is going to have a full week waving getting anything else. I just wanna get a verbal commitment from you that upon retirement and ten years you're going to join as a regular host of the Tomahawk show because I feel like I'm hundred day. I'm I'm in in. You don't I I will do it for free 'cause I can add very good element to this group. And we can just we could you guys are already great. But I think we could be legend. So that's not my I couldn't agree more, man. I couldn't be more thinking legendary your post game press conferences, definitely qualifies. Legendary you called Cam Newton one time if fast dinosaur. Yeah. We're gonna play. Yeah. Go ahead. You tell us about. I mean. Yeah. I was I didn't have press her. And I sent like my first thought was when when I see him, you know, he's he's such physically gifted, you know, stature of a quarterback is that many guy. He's probably the only one like him who's who's that big that physical can run can ask me..

"It wasn't guaranteed. They were only guarantee and like a little money in the Bank and then Todd Gurley come the signs at deal res up with LA Rams that would have Trump that deal by large margin. So he was actually smart to pass up. What it because now he'll be running back with the big deal. He ain't going to get the big deal. He's twenty seven years old in February. Once you hit thirty everybody knows most running backs go downhill he's taken a lotta hits because he gets a lot of touches during the season. So somebody's going to give them a two or three year deal. But like I said you can't Frank Gore's ninety seven years old marshawn Lynch sixty two years old Adrian Peterson. We. Watched him do a seventy yard run. The guy is sixty four years old so older running backs can be affected Lynn. Really because he's he's even better than most of those guys. They're the exception to the rule. You don't bet I'm the exceptions. And that's why I'm saying when somebody's looking at it this guy, they're not going to bet on the exception at the running back position. It's not that important of a position anymore in today's NFL. It's a luxury to have at the nobody at the top of the game. Or at the bottom of the game is going to be willing to spend that type of money on a long term deal. He's going to get a two or three year offer. It might be fifteen million a year it might be Houston. But teams that have that quarterback. They know they're going to pay. They're not going to waste money on a running back. He might be right. I just think it's all who you pay who you don't pay. We watched the raiders trade Khalil Mack. And we watched a bears give them one hundred million dollars. Like, even when you play good you play by the voice, you do everything you're told you still don't get the money. So whatever it's a that is a great point hawk. Maybe this that in free agency, the great part about it is you don't have to convince thirty two teams and worth the money. He'll be convinced one always one idiot out there. That's renters all you. Got to do is convince the raiders worth the money. It sounds like we've got our man. Eric weta calling into the show five time all pro safety from the Baltimore Ravens and big friend of the Tomahawk show. Eric weddell? How you doing man, man? I'm doing great at a good. We enjoyed the time with my four Rugrats and ready for the stretch run baby. Let's get it for everyone listening. We got Eric Weddell the best safety in football history. The NFL NBA has during MLB history. Baltimore Ravens kind a man. It's all facts. Now, we're just happy to have you on the show. Hey, it's my pleasure. And it's an honor to enjoy the mazing Tomahawk show. I mean who would ever thought to legend like yourself would turn this this this thing into one of the greatest shows in history, man, we are cutting that up indefinitely putting that on the edge. I know the five pro bowls. You have probably felt pretty good. But this is clearly the biggest honor of your Caribbean on the Tomahawk show. But I wanna know, I know, I know you're a guy that he's love a lot of things you've got a great personality. And there's a lot of interests outside of football. You just coming off your by week. What were the hobbies were you able to dive in anything this by week we golfing were you playing basketball where you're born? What were you doing? Well, my wife was said, hey here. They're four kids. Here's their schedules off see you later. That was already on my days. Honestly, I told sit down, and I couldn't can't really go anywhere. We thought about going home for the few days in San Diego. But you got three elementary. I got my son head is Super Bowl for pop Warner on Saturday. We didn't want move that..

"Got injured. So first of all that's number one number two that fourteen and a half million that he gave up the season. He'll never be able to make that backup. If he was able to get through the season relatively healthy. Even if he'd toward them CLL or hurt his shoulder, whatever it is by the end of the off season. He would be healthy again in you'd be able to sign his big deal. And he would collect the fourteen and a half million this year. He got offered a long-term deal five years seventy million. That's huge. I don't see. There's anybody out there. That's going to pay him more than that. He's already sat out an entire your. Sat out an entire year. So a lot of teams are going to say while he might be a little rusty. We don't know what we're get. He's a year older. Yeah. He didn't play this year. But he still gets older. He's not allowed to cryogenically freeze himself in a year that he doesn't play football. And the running back position is a luxury. The only people who have the luxury of paying a running back. Big bucks are somebody that either has a rookie quarterback. That's your franchise quarterback under that rookie contract or a team that doesn't have a franchise quarterback. Because once you pay a quarterback Aaron Rodgers franchise quarterback money. You can't afford also pay a running back seventeen eighteen nineteen million twenty million a year, or whatever it is that John Bell wants. So the only teams that are going to be interested are teams that don't have that franchise quarterback. That's already been paid. And then once you say that it's like, okay. So who are the teams that are left that don't have that huge investment in that quarterback position? Well their team. That aren't going to be right there on the edge of winning a Super Bowl. So they're not willing to spend the money on running back. Because if you're let's say the Oakland, Raiders, you're one of these teams that isn't really close to winning a Super Bowl. Why would you waste the money on on the running back position? You're going to spend the money on other positions. That's going to give you more longevity that the pass rusher. The cornerback the receiver the guys that are going to be there for ten more years. They give you the opportunity to build your franchise long-term layman's Arina old running back. Nobody's going to want to commit huge long-term dollars to an old running back. The only team that was going to maybe do that was Pittsburgh. But because he sat out he gave Wally pip that. He did the Wally tip, and he gave James Connor the opportunity to show that maybe this position was more about the offensive line and the offense and the quarterback then lady on bell just being a flat out stud hawk the floor is yours. Yeah. I'm just going to say you're drunk had way. Too. Many seventy three coaches lady on bail is at. Old running back. He's still on his rookie deal. If he's considered an old running back this dealers. Definitely did this guy disservice. How could he be an old running back, and you are still on your rookie deal? I don't even get how that's possible. Like, I think he'll make more than seventy million. They offered him because you'll be free. He'll be an open market. You mean to tell me the dolphins aren't going to want to come get him. The Tampa Bay ears are the Houston. Texans aren't going to want to come get him. There. Houston, that's a potential landings. But I could say Houston because they got their quarterback under the rookie deal. But they're not going to give them a six you deal because they know they gotta pay Shawn Watson and a couple of seasons. Whatever they give them a three year deal where fifteen million a year that's still like notice guaranteed the whole thing. Yeah. That's what he could have gotten Pittsburgh fifteen million a year on a five year deal..

"Really didn't make sense. Well, I mean, you said you hit it on the head man and the only silver lining there that he up the market. So you'd go get some more money for yourself be looking. We go. The checking out make sure everyone listening. We're gonna check out king talk to make sure you let us know what it's coming. So we can look out for it. Okay. I appreciate you all to of course, metal good luck this week. Thanks for being on many. I think. Oh. I mean that was Melvin Ingram. And our guy always entertaining. He's he's one of the only people have double back to the time hawk show. It's like ham. Baker Mayfield who has twice. Cow's Obama and Oprah they run a couple times. But other than them. We don't let anybody come back twice. We just don't have space. Nah. I mean, we just we just like the hog all the airwaves store is another thing. We didn't talk about as lady on bail. He's not coming back this season. All I can think of is what a tremendous mistake. Like is though. Why don't you make? Why don't you ask me a question? And then as I started giving, you my opinion, you cut me off and say, I'm wrong. Actually, explain it opinions. I after I thought this was team Tomahawk. Go ahead. I want to hear what you here's what I think about it. Because I know what you're going with it because he got on this rabbit hole. Numerous times, you'll have your opportunity. But now it's time for me. I think by him not playing this year. I think it was actually smart he'll be a free agent next year. They wanna keep them after Pam quarterback money. So he'll recoup some of that fourteen five million, right? They kitchen this tag them. But they won't max offer that he'll get from somebody else. And I honestly think he does preserve his body by not playing this year. Because when I from college to the league I sat a year out. Right. And it wasn't by choice like Libya bells because nobody went decide somebody who wasn't telling after ride most of the rise at cedar point. But regardless I sat the year out from the time when my senior year Toledo, which is in college football. It's such a grind you play football year round between the season winter conditioning spring ball summer ball, you have no break for four or five straight years me sitting out that year when I came back to playing I was a. Different player because my body had time to heal up rejuvenate so much like marshawn Lynch day with the raiders. I think Levy on bail will actually add longevity to his career to add extra years on the back end by sending out because his body is now going to naturally heal. And he's not going through the same beat down that a normal NFL player does continuously through their career. So I think he'll actually earn the money on the back end. That's that's my point. So the only way that I would say that sitting out make sense is this. He was like eighty five percent. Sure, he was going to sustain such a crippling injury during this season that he wasn't going to be able to see that long term contract because okay, let's say shows up and worst case scenario he pulls an Adrian Peterson and terraces ACL somebody still would pay him in the off season because he showed up he showed good faith. He ran hardy played just as well as he's always been playing and in the off season somebody's going to reward them because they know that almost every injury NFL player gets they're going to be able to come back just as healthy as they were before they..

"We're we're cutting net. We're jumping as interview is going to go on we're gonna drop dead Melvin Ingram. Tomahawk freestyle. You're putting we gotta make that interest on this gives it a foot advance the chargers. Six game win streak was been. The biggest reason you guys got a lot this year man, but Kimber stream man, we all playing together really on every phase offense defense president we all playing together, and we make making the place that we need to we need to make win the game. And that's what it's all about minutes. We've got a different attitude on his team, and we got one golden the company that's win the Super Bowl. And that's what we that's what we. We hit it toward the we bring Charlie do Derulo. Something that we've always talked about on the Tomahawk show us how the chargers they always seem to get overlooked by everybody like for some reason forever. They were in San Diego, and nobody gave him credit. Obviously, we know how good Philip rivers is. But nobody ever talks about him being one of the best in the NFL you, and I we had a bunch of battles. And I always said that you were one of the guys that always was the most overlooked, and you deserve way more credit than you deserve. Because I always thought you're one of the best outside linebacker. I played against in. Certainly you had the hardest head. I I've never been hit. Life. Then when Fremont one on one in just a run block. I think you almost knocked my head off. You actually hit me so hard that both my chin straps broke at the same time. And that was the only time it ever happened in my career. But now that you guys are in LA, you're getting some more of the credit that you guys deserve. Or do you still feel like you're overlook? I feel like we get some of the credit, but like I always tell to my God in that locker room mad if you win they can't deny that you didn't win games. They have no choice, but to see and that's what we're trying to do. I feel like we still we still get overlooked some because people some people feel like we still being San Diego, some people still fit. So we we in the right place. But but like I say man, we we go play football. That's what we hear do. No matter where we they move with the space. We don't play football. And that they overlook then at some point in time, they're gonna have to come see us. I like that the space charges here LA you talked about is winning football. At the problem is the other A team is also winning football. Oh game. So are charges the Lakers on the clippers. We charge his wing one of those. As a bar right there. You can use that with meal. That's okay. Gotcha. Appreciate that. When we talk about Philip rivers, man. He's a really really good season together. Everybody's high on the homes. Everybody's high on drew Brees earliest Baldwin and all these players. Do you think full of rivers should be in the compensation for MVP for sure for sure? And I think in due time he going gonna be in there. No matter what you came. You gotta respect your check his numbers, man. And he he actually going crazy right now he wanted he'd been doing for a long time. He one of the best ever do it. So it ain't gonna have no choice but to put them in their tone. So why overlooking and that's that's the question. We always add because it's not like he's under the rate on we know for the privilege is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He always has been but even still now with the season. He's adding with the record you guys got he's still being overlooked. Why is it? What is it about him? Overlook. Oh, no. I think that's of course, you gotta act all the people. That's overlooking them because I listened. So I'd say that's a question for the people who overlooking. Yeah. I think he's talking to you hawk. Why are you? Overlooking over looking at the. The play and my brothers played for the patriot. He used to play against breezy..

"That's all I can think of man, I'm not going to be able to enjoy my pre-game shit because it's just a foggy mess. Like, I'm playing in London in the London belltower or something not strangers to talking about moving bows Tomahawk show. But that's a portion of being a player that people don't understand because that's a literal ritual. Probably of at least seventy five percent of the team. You got to squeeze out before you go out on the field because you don't want it to happen in the middle. Halftime when you're all taped up. There's like lines for the for the crapper every stadium. You go to like preview if you don't get there early enough you may not even get the opportunity especially as a lineman. It took me almost thirty minutes to get. My my niece leaves on my elbow pads, my side pads my shoes my ankle tape. My finger taped my wrist tape. And by the time, you put it all together. I look ninja turtle because my fingers are all taped together. So I can't even white my ass if I wanted to and if you had to take. I don't even know how you do it. You'd have to have a trainer come in and help you because there is nothing that's going to happen quickly. Once you get all taped up and you put yourself all together. So you gotta get that thing out. Right. When you get to the stadium before you turn yourself into a superman ninja turtle. I will now that we've lost all of our female listeners in. "He he wasn't ready to be the problem with it is and I will give Joe a chance to speak sometime next episode of the issue is I feel like coaches in GM's whoever made the decision to continually make him to start and put him in that bad situation. Should be fired. My take on this is I feel so bad for the player. He's done. Nothing wrong. He's just not very good, and I don't wanna pick on him anymore. So I'm a big fan of Nathan Peterman. I think he's handled it like a professional handled. Playing really really poorly and getting made fun of a lot. And I'm ready to move on. I wish him the best. Maybe he'll become a guest host on the Tomahawk. Just Bruce Caskey, and he could be our expert quarterback analysts. I wouldn't count on it. I've got a few topics that I'm pretty amped about right now that I think we need to talk about the first one got me pretty excited. But I heard the story is so this weekend in Cincinnati. We all know that's kind of an old aging stadium. It was one of my least favorite places to play the saints were there. And apparently during pre-game a fire alarm was going off for like, fifteen minutes in the saints locker room, and Sean Payton finally had enough of this distraction that certainly was planted by Marvin Lewis in the singles. So he took whatever it was if it was his fist. I give this guy a lot of credit because the photo of the fire alarm after he smashed, it is a million pieces. It's pretty amazing. I'm guessing he took like some share or maybe they had a baseball bats just laying around logger, but he smashed up fire alarm. And of course, they beat the shit out of the Bengals. And then after the game the Bengals called the police and turn him in for smashing that fire alarm. And now the police are investigating. So do we. We think Sean Payton is going to go to jail for most of breaking a fire alarm lock him lock them up. It's it's you don't come to Cincinnati. And I'm putting on my Cincinnati Bengals head and just break our firearms. You just talked about Mike, Mike Brown. You think he's gonna tell you come in there? Just break into fire alarm. No, you send him a Bill for sure getting a Bill and for emotional distress treble damages. That's for lawyers out built that stadium. Now, you've got the state of Ohio probably going to put a lawsuit against you. Because now, you're my tax money. The thing that I hated the most about playing in the Bengals stadium was for some reason when they built that thing they built the showers right next to the toilets, but they didn't put any exhaust fan. So when the showers have been going on in pre-game for like an hour that whole thing just becomes a one big, foggy mess. If you're in those toilets. It's the let's just say that there is no exhaust going on in there. And it becomes like the nastiest shower toilet area in the NFL. It reminds me of the old school like the Meadowlands when we used to play out in New York. It was just so disgusting and nasty by the time. The game started that you didn't even want to go in there that's discussing and I'm happy. I was in the home side because we smartly separated are totally. It's an showers. Attack. It just to get in your head more. It was it got in my head everytime. We had the Bengals on the schedule. And we had to go down there..

"So this is just not surprising all and I'm actually shocked that people throughout the country are like surprise that. You got a job with the Bengals right away. Well, it's funny because what happens if the media talked about everything like players coach. And obviously, it's professional sports. That's what it's supposed to happen. But I think typically when people get fired, you know, and everyone piles on which is what I get. That's what's supposed to happen. When someone gets fired. You talk about why they got fired and how bad they did or whatever. But I don't think people are ready when they are going to resurface that quickly like typically, head coaches, don't get fired. And then just go right to a new team and start coaching as an assistant. You're wrong. It happens all the time. Last year agreement. Granted Ken peasy wasn't the head coach. But he was the offense coordinator the Bengals he got fired and the Browns hired him within like a week to be special assistant to whatever. But that always happens to coaches, they get fired in the middle of the season, they go and the hang out with their buddy. And they help them out as much as they can. And that keeps the foot in the door. And that gives them the opportunity to get hired somewhere else at the end of the season. But head coach is typically don't do that. I disagree. Gimme a time where head coach got fired. And then within weeks he went to coach for another team. Let's talk. I wouldn't even think that there was like they would have like a non compete or something to say like, hey, you can't do anything for the rest of the season. Maybe I don't know. But either way if we had a research team that was worth a shit. They would have had the lineup for me. So I could have thrown it right back in your face. But let's move on to the next. Real quickly before we move on. I just wanna yes or no just wanna. Yes. Or no answer. Baker mayfield. Throws a touchdown in Cincinnati. Does he turn to the sideline and look at Hugh Jackson? Yes. Or no, no, definitely not definitely not. We got into this weekend. Being in Cleveland. The whole environment of the Cleveland Browns, which they will are we gonna talk about this show. We'll talk about next show made. I'm interested to see what happens because I've heard some things, but also feel like bakers of professional, and I feel like his relationship with Hugh is better than some people are saying, but we'll find out. We'll talk a little bit more in the next show about that. Okay. Great. That's a good tease. You guys. That's really well done testing. That's what that's called. So guys here on the Tomahawk show. We do a lot of good for a lot of people. We are a beacon of hope for a lot of people. But there may be we may be getting blamed for the downfall of of one person. His name is Nathan Peterman. He was released by the Buffalo Bills beginning era has come to an end guys. What do you have to say for yourself for causing this this tragedy? I'm not laughing at the kid, man. I'm I would never laugh at someone losing a job. Let's let's make that very clear, and I've made it very clear, and yes, what I make things clear are they buried within a bunch of jokes contradicting what I'm saying. Of course, they are. But that's sports. Comedy sports comedies the thing that I don't think it's a real thing. But I feel like I've I'm a part of the pioneering genre. I say all that to say, I don't know if there was a more deserving loss of a job in professional sports. You know? I mean, like Hugh Jackson is a perfect example. Hugh Jackson is like family to us here at the top. We love him. He's an incredible, dude. But even he understands what the record like it is what it is. You know, like native Peterman through thirteen interceptions in one hundred and thirty three career passing attempts in play offs and regular season. He had an eleven percent interception rate at one point like he through eleven takes in under one hundred passes. This is what happens..

"So I don't know what that entails we'll figure that out. But it FDA safe sound, and he will be returning soon to give us a live update from his own voice. And that's excited. I'm pretty excited. But hey, we got an enormous show. Oh, like, the popularity of the Tomahawk podcast. Just when you think we can't become any more popular or global this past week going to the Brown stadium being dog on captains leading that team to victory. Well, how we've got people that are calling. Our hotline not just regular people like humongous celebrities in the L A entertainment world, all over the NFL. That are calling the begging to be on the show, and we got a few people today, we got more people next week. The guest list is becoming unmanageable. Thank god. We've got ten people that are on roster that can keep all of that straight. But you know, what people don't realize the last two times me, and you were in Cleveland Browns stadium together, we want to know, I don't realize that actually that's you should like it was twenty sixteen charges game on New Year's Eve, and then this past Sunday to falcon so Tomahawk is always a thing is just everyone else's finally getting benefit including the Cleveland Browns. But you're right. We have a huge show. We got Melvin Ingram who be calling it. We've got. Our guy Eric wet. Oh of the Baltimore Ravens. Always a fun guy. They caught us on the show. So we're going to finally let them open up the phone lines and stuff all to ourselves. We also got a lot of news that's popping up czar. Why don't you just take us right into it? Should we ask how you doing? No, that's not important. Don't worry about me. That's what I was thinking. I just didn't want to live. And I'm glad you said it so. And I appreciate you checking in on me like that. It's really my friends or for our guys. Well, let's just get right into it. Because your former coach hue Jackson is back in the news. Because as of today, he is officially the let me make sure I'm getting this title, right? He is these special assistant to the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals whatever that means. And you know, what else guys Brown's got a buy this week and then they play in Cincinnati to following weekend. What were your thoughts on the news at Hugh Jackson is returning to really the place that sort of made him a a hot head coaching commodity before what happened with the Cleveland Browns. I don't think people realize how good a friends Jackson Marvin Lewis are were have been if you just look at their like relationship there coaching relationship overtime. It will tell you. They're not just acquaintances. They are like real life BFF's. So as soon as the bras, let them go I knew and I thought everyone going to coach for the best. This isn't it wasn't. If it was. I guess it was one hundred percent going to happen. And here we are. It's smart on their points to have done that puck. I don't know about you. But this is the least surprising thing that has happened this NFL season, but has received the most amount of fan shock and awe. I did a bunch of radio shows us morning. And I just couldn't believe that. All these people were surprised that Hugh Jackson just got hired by the Bengals first of all he's getting paid by the Browns. So Mike Brown doesn't have to open up his checkbook, which as we all know, Mike Brown's happy when he gets something for free. He's cheaper than me somehow. So it's not a surprise. Secondly, he knows everything there is to be about Browns roster the offense the defense, and he can easily be a huge asset for Marvin on top of the fact that that's where he came from. And here's a huge friend of Marvin..

"So yeah, I think that is an area they decide not to really have their win, be the guy that's going to be the primary cover guy, and I could see them. It doesn't necessarily have to be every snap, right? But certainly in more critical situations on third down, once you get down into the red zone, if they happen to ever make it, they're like, those are the situations where you really expect Derwin to be able to go in kind of match up with him more one on one because he's their guy right now. Kittle is, is there go to receiver he's the most productive player. I think in this offense right now, he's the one in the middle of the field, which is the area that Cal Shanahan really likes to to attack. So yeah, I think that's the thing that I'm going to be watching for. Sure. That's absolutely going to be the marquee match up. But the the other match that I'll be watching is going to be how tackles and specifically Mike mcglinchey matches up. Against Melvin Ingram because this is going to be one of the true test for the progression for the rookie right tackle. This is a player Melvin Ingram who does move around the chargers defense. He's not gonna rush. Just specifically from one side. He moves from one side of the other. And originally we thought that mcglinchey was going to be a better run blocker than it was a pass blocker. He's up and down games in either category. He's had some games where he was about a run blocker some games or is better pass blocker, and I think going up against an elite run or pass rusher is going to be a test forum and especially protecting someone like CJ Beathard who is very, very good at being attack alling dummy, but is not someone you want to be a tackling dummy. I think it's going to be a good test. The chargers defense is on the whole, not good, but they do have fantastic pieces and you've got to expect the chargers to come in and play. A lot of men defense. They're probably going to do exactly what the lines did and CJ Beathard is going to need to be. To leverage what the scheme gets him, and hopefully the tackles can protect four him and if they can and the Niners can leverage the run game, they have a fighting chance if any one of those things falls apart, if they don't play a perfect game on offense, this game could get ugly quick. I mean, there's a reason the Niners ten and a half game a ten and a half point underdogs that's not an easy spread to cover, and so we get to prediction time. We'll, we'll go ahead and throw in Jared's prediction here because he's absent. He predicted the Niners cover the spread, but lose the game that they would probably lose ten butts and spread it was ten and a half this cover David. What do you think? I think about the same, right. I think maybe a little bit different game script than what Jared had in mind from what we were talking about before. I think it's more of a blowout early. Honestly, like I think that they're going to be able to, they're going to struggle to to be able to stop the chargers offense and you're gonna see them kind of do. Whatever they want for most of the game. And so I could definitely see a situation where they get up big early, kind of like the Kansas City game. And then maybe in the second half, something like that. When things slow down a bit, you see the forty Niners get some kind of garbage time points there and make things look a little bit closer than it actually was. I'm going to go cover in loses well, just because I mean ten and a half points lot. Ten points is a lot. You're usually not looking to bet on that. It's not the smart pick to go like, that's really their kind of entice you that this is an uneven matchup..

"Of course he has to make the tackle, but there there are a lot of plays like that yesterday where the secondary's doing a fine job on they just weren't. They had there is no pass rush. There's no pass rush at all. I thought that Bradley did a good job of moving Mel Melvin Ingram around the formation like he was lined up on both sides lineup inside who's coming from up the middle in that was fine. But the there was no new blitzes. There's no new looks from Bradley, and I think that cost him in the RAMSAR able to block them. They couldn't get to golf at all, really. And when I say they couldn't get to golf, I mean that just from like a consistent basis. I mean, Brandon me, Bain had a sack. I really don't remember. I'm trying to remember who else. I think I think Ingram, I think you also hit him, but. Just as far as pressure goes, only only getting. Three times when they drop back golf had thirty six attempts. That's just not going to cut it man. So if this is Bradley's plan, comeback boasts, a police gonna need you in need you in a hurry. So those are pretty much my my negative takeaways just from the game from a coaching standpoint. Player standpoint actually don't think the often stayed. I, I will say this. I don't think the skill players were too bad. Melvin Ingram did a good job. I thought I thought he did a good job of taking his runs in staying is basically getting north and south there. There was a couple instances where it seemed like he wanted to bounce it, but he he didn't put his foot in the ground ran field. So I thought Gordon did a good job in that regard. The, I guess the negative play that little true play. They ran with Keenan Allen and got him out of position where tickets sack. I don't know what that was. It was a double reverse. So they handed off to the neck ler handed to Canaan. I don't know. I don't remember who is trying to throw to, but he there was nobody for him to throw to, and he just sat back there in took the sack. So that was about play. But as far as back to the skill players, dot rivers is fine seem to play with himself still. He's not didn't seem like he was forcing too many passes so that that's good rivers for three weeks at a row. If you just disregard that one, that one interception against the chiefs early on TV wise. Man, Mike Williams restarted come along here, seeing him deep, deep threats seem to be target deep. That's good because the charges really, really needed deep threat. And I think it's good just because it tells you you don't have to be like a crazy speedster. He's just using his size man and that in rivers, you know, obviously, rivers loves these big targets. Go back to Malcolm Floyd visit Jackson, and it's going well. So Williams is clearly the number two receiver, and he's looks like from the looks of it. He's creeping up on just Keenan Allen and I'll, I don't mean that from like a town standpoint, I just mean like in the scope of the offense. So mad if Williams can keep his, he's obviously he's not gonna score two touchdowns a game, but it's good to it's good to see him involves good to see his role, hit them, carve him out a role in. Women's be Williams, be good in that role getting back to tyrod Williams, man, he they need him. They need something out of him, and that's Donut every week. Now he had two catches for twenty two yards. One was the one. He had a. Short bass, and he ran for a first down with. That's that's good. Tyrel just because you can use his athleticism. A also had a carry where he took it fourteen yards like little jet, sweep, reverse whatever it was. That's good to see. But again, man over the course of the season yesterday three targets twenty two yards bills, three targets forty yards chiefs, five targets eight yards. He was he was coming into the season. He was supposed to be their second threat. Why Mike Williams develops in that hasn't happened, and it's pretty clear early on here that they're probably just not going to give much out of Tiro. And I mean, that's fine. If anything, it's going to be on the coaches moving forward to adjust..

"This is the herd. I do think it's amazing when you you check out some of these teams with dynamic defensive players, and you try and figure out like, all right. When did they start making the playoffs like, look, the lines have made the playoffs in what two of the last three years fourteen sixteen. They made the playoffs after they lost Dhammika and SU. There is something to not overpaying on. One guy. Not over paying on one guy. And look, there's there's other things with it. And obviously it's the chargers. For example, they paid through the nose for Melvin Ingram last year, but he did so quietly, really, there was no hold out. And now you look at the Melvin Ingram dealing, you're like, wow, that actually is reasonable. Keenan Allen Saint thing. Like those are two elite guys, their position. So some of it's how you handle it. You can be loaded up when you get to highest paid at position. Other than quarterback. And even with quarterback. You start to run into the ability to fill out the roster with anything. Other than young players were guys that are on the last legs. Speaking of quarterback everyone. Myself included said a Jim Harbaugh's fine. Once he finds a quarterback, he'll be fine. The offense which is kinda stale will be better when you got a legit quarterback and we thought shape Patterson's ad guy. Now shake comes from old miss and ole miss by the way, still a dynamic fencing without him. Comes from ole miss but is more athletic than anybody he's had. He's not as at let some of the guys Brady Hoke head, but is an athletic on the move passer who can also throw some from the pocket. But the thought was he just better than than any of the guys I threw out there last year you go into Notre Dame and you're down fourteen and nothing. They fight. They klatch they, they scratched they claw. They did get to within a touchdown late, got the football back late, but shape Patterson, fumbles, and then a blues ING at Notre Dame. And so now the Harbaugh haters come out and say, eight last sixteen games. Eight last sixteen games. Let's let's welcome in Nick Baumgartner. He covers Michigan football for the Detroit Free Press fall on Twitter at Nick Bumgarner Nicot in the in the context of just the game. How'd you think Michigan played. Not Well, I, I think that that's the, you know, they had a lot of guys back on this team that played a lot last year. A lot of these guys were young players last year that we're kind of going through their, you know, learning curve. And then you know, the bigger surprise I guess was first and foremost defense brought almost everything back from a group that was number three overall last year, and they got just walloped in the first two series of the game. And then it was, you know, shaky from there. So the offensive line's still has problems. I thought, shape, Patterson, all things considered. I mean, he was running for his life also the night. I thought all things considered for his first game, and a new system was mostly fine, but there's not a lot of not a lot of juice on this team. Offensively not a lot of speed out there. Any offensive line still really struggles against quality opponents. So you know, consider the opponent you're playing on the road, it's and it's all that. But you know if Michigan had thoughts on being a playoff contender this year and through one game that doesn't look doesn't look very realistic. I would agree. With you in terms of how they look the first two series..

"Us in a little bit melvin ingram to your la chargers this is an interesting event man i i enjoy looking at the ria corporate on television for the award shows everybody all jazz eat up and ills e with the great pants i gotta give me some of those i don't know if you're you're tone they don't make them what what does that mean i just to say size but that's not offensive so i would i would definitely wear my swim trunks at to work more on i'm gonna see the same color patterns ain't patterson worn them before i wonder woman nice amulet coppers button that you push some special doesn't like a superhero like right here on the top like look at that shorts donaldson at the essence carpet staple center live staple center yes yeah what is it call warning warning so take right the allstate guy ran no call allstate got the crow the president of the united states in twenty four he was he's dragging yes he's the trojan okay president palmer right president palmer twenty four usc trojan so you know how they go yeah this is absolutely fantastic event we just had an opportunity to talk to the performer who's going to seeing a bit pretty much close to show tonight melnik bilk one of the most powerful moments for the show that i'm looking forward to seeing some of the of victims of selecting victors from the sexual assault happening with lasts with nassar michigan state university many of them are going to be staged yeah it's going to be snow moment for the arena the obviously the viewers as well and there's a great cover of espn the magazine that are from times wrote about ali race men and everything she's been through so i'm sure will be here tonight as well guys to shows no i know one show georgia or another housi multiple fear you can't you can't be contained you had a theory on kawhi leonard they were about to espouse here a little while ago before josh came by i initially floated it on sports nation today oh which which is just as isaiah thomas was traded to the cavs and in front of the lakers at the end of the year i wouldn't be surprised if there still is another opportunity for the lakers to approach toronto to try to acquire kawai understanding couple of things one he's still get an opportunity to to go for championship now with lebron james at his peak as opposed to losing his sees correct but then also to you're going to get a cheaper price in large part because toronto is up against it correct no question about it and now just to give the the details and we kind of started to get that you thought you had wait x amount of time for you can move mcginn right normally that is the key case but in a trade scenario you you don't have to do that as long as the lead year hasn't started yet i don't believe so because of move flato free agent is different a free agent has you have to wait till december fifteen okay but in this case they could trade coli before bigotry and tomorrow wanted to but they can't attach anyone else to him you have to be singularly quiet money would have to matt ryan collide makes what this year i believe he's about twenty million nineteen twenty okay take dang's contract.

"The mont at the afc nineteen yardline russell wilson in at quarterback the give us the melvin ingram and ingram our market your rather marking room with the carrian ingram gets it down to the seventeen yard line a pickup of you're you're about four as it turns out though market upi the seventeen yard line drew brees off to a nice start 7 of 9 with a key to get the nfc on the board first now just goes over an unmee unlike most game he sits down he's done he's done piece for the ball but anyway wilson gets a shot secular of 6 out of a god wilson were to give the ingram trying to bounce back from the left to the right and he has ridden out of bounds by tell the smith of jacksonville in his first pulled wall had a loss of the play back near the original line of scrimmage close to the twenty one yard line they're going gonna spotted in between the 20 and 21 its third down that's interesting because most of these guys are used to be in really fast guys and like i told you get a thanksgiving at front yard game and the artificial bridge got superpowers nobody can outrun anybody in this game everybody out there is blazing fast isuzi ingram tried to get to the corner telvised mitch estate right within wrote him out about i mean the speed is unbelievable when these guys want to turn on it's like flip a switch on third down just outside the 23rd and nine we'll sit under pressure shovels it to environmental ingram buried at the twenty five yard line yanni got quite who talked with moral in the pregame show comes up and makes a big play a loss back to the 25 it's funny because just what i said russell wilson does little roll out and everybody defensive tackles are running the quarterbacks down and these guys just a obscene defense is very fast kelvin smith in this passes as any running back in the national football league in the defense of lima down the interior withdrawal casey all those guys they are so fast everywhere and you saw it on his first couple of plays after the turnover man old man do they cover burning crammed with no on from forty three the field goal try often good with the a see the nfc will the field goal try after the.

"Melvin ingram and joy boast a combined for 2 quarterback hits in one sack so they faced ingram busan von miller last two games one sacking three hits total for those three guys so tremendous job by the guys up front by coach dante scar nekia getting them ready and i think the offensive line is like the defense you know it's the same five guys from last year we know what they can do bad start to the season and you're watching you like we know you can play better we've seen that do it and now seasons gone on dante's kinda got a figured out the communications lot better they've been durable you know the one guys marcus cannon is dealing with an ankle injury right now and it looks like they might not get him back for this raiders game either khalil mack so in other tough challenge coming up but the offensive line you have to give them a lot of credit for a really improving as the season has gone along and done a great job neutralize musgrave great pass rushers been with a little bit of news there the idea that markets cannon might not make it back for this game against the oakland raiders on sunday that game in mexico city the patriots hanging out in colorado their practice in this week at the united states air force academy in colorado springs i do want to go around sort of the rest of the we could say nfl but really it's going to be a fc then i wanted to get your thoughts you're the patriots a one five in a row their seven into that ties them with the pittsburgh steelers for the best record in the afc right now i thought it was a lacklustre performance from the steelers on sunday they barely scrape by former patriots quarterback per said in the indianapolis colts at twenty to seventeen victory in indianapolis when you look at the afc right now that race for the top overall seed or the patriots the clear favorites.
