"We'll pick with gender. Yeah, and Joe Mixing. He's you can probably. Recall this. Where were you ranking Leonard Fournette right after the season. Oh move top twelve for sure and probably would have been ahead of. Mexican. Right. For me definitely yes, me as well. and. So this is you know he's I don't WanNa quite James Robinson and for net, but just fantasy production. That's essentially what you're getting. Is IT I. Feel weird saying this, but he's looked better than Leonard Fournette I look I. Don't want I don't WanNa quit the two but you look at what he did in the passing game against Miami you look at what? He's sort of evolving into just this every down running back a guy who's dominating touch is, and that's what for net was for Jacksonville last year with different coordinator, different guys in certain spots but very similar personnel for the most part and so that's kind of I think how you can sort of you wanNA justify the two. Were drafting the one problem I see with with him and we saw it in the Miami game we still had a good get great game, but he did come off the field late in the game for Chris Thompson when they were trailing and if we expect the Jaguars to go back to being, you know the worst team in one of the worst teams in football like we expected it started the season that could happen more i. feel like I need to bring that up because I it could be the one like pick serve him but I also think that you know if you say that he can he came off the field and prior to that he had he got six. Yeah he can. He can do everything that they need to do, and that's something that they said about him in training came. All right. Okay. So guys, we have a ton of injuries. Let's go through these quickly here Chris Carson practice right now we're going to preview that game, but he's got a chance to play. So you know I'm sure you'd start him if he plays. It's very funny that you have the three running backs that we talked about. Of Jeff Wilson Carlos Hyde, and REX burkhead. And? If. It's just Mackinnon I think Wolfson is going to be fine because he saw that last week. But hide and Birkett could be irrelevant but you didn't really see that last week because I don't think Wilson got much many touches at all until McCain got hurt. Now, if you've hit mcinerney less than entre percent, that's one thing. But Wilson got almost always work in the fourth quarter by the way is McCain. So I know moster didn't practice Garoppolo didn't practice is McKinnon looking good for this week? Practice, full? Oh. Okay. Michael Thomas Practice Davante Adams. Well, they didn't practice the packers. So we don't know yet about about they. No more today. and same with the Falcons wide receivers that we're a little in the dark on Julio engage. Right. Yes there the Monday. Night game. So they don't practice until Thursday right? And, one other thing the titans steelers scenario is the AUNTIE. Johnson's going to get extra time. To hopefully pass through the concussion protocol. George kitto practice in four Deebo Samuel. You're expecting him this week. Kyle Shanahan was very noncommittal when they asked him about it. He said you know he's got a chance if he plays if he practices three straight days and feels good after that he also said I feel very confident in him for week five. It's kind of the same thing with Damian Harris when they ask bill. Belichick. Is that sometimes these guys take a couple of weeks and the difference obviously with Harris is the patriots already have seventeen running backs. With James White coming back the forty niners out one wide receiver so it would be good for them to get away. Jared Cook mispractice practice the Andre Hopkins missed practice and Kareem Hunt mispractice practice those two we're going to have to keep an eye on. camakers still day-to-day according to the raves. You said three guys. But I meant Hopkins and hunt, but. Yes you're right. I did I did say three. Always keep an eye on jared cook too. So Duke Johnson seems likely to play. We're going to breed that game today I wanted to do just the AFC home games today, but I think it's better to do Pittsburgh Tennessee tomorrow. So I changed things around a little bit. Damian Harris practice he's just talked about that Jamison crowder questionable. We talked about him. We expect him to play tonight. Philip. Lindsay's questionable. What do we think about Philip Lindsey right now? I think he somebody that if he's he's been dropped in several leagues, he's not a bad guy to stash. So if you have the ability to pick somebody up on Thursday, before the game starts, I would do so because if Melvin Gordon were to get hurt in Thursday night's game than filled Lindsey could be like Melvin. Gordon. Has Been The last couple of weeks but it's going go back to I think what it was at the start a week before Linsey he went down and what the thought was going into the year that they're gonNA use both guys. I would feel much less confident starting Gordon if Lindsay was active. July could be back next week at New England DJ Chart Practice to Sean Jackson did not but still could play San Francisco don't know about Alshon Jeffery. This Week Zach. Zach Moss practice such a bummer. So I mean it's good for him. Sorry it's a fantasy. Leg. I had I, had single terry the top fifteen back without moss I would still start Devon. Single Terry. If Moss's back I just wouldn't be as excited about him. I had Devon single terrier, which through heath off in our notes for Thursday's FT show because on Wednesdays. F. T. I had said Oh I think Evanston series started the week, which was my intention thinking that Moss was going to miss more time with its own injury and then when he practiced and came makers did not I made the switch to Daryl Henderson. Here's the rest of the injury report Jon. Brown did not practice Chris Godwin mispractice Scott, Miller missed practice henry rugs unlikely to play and Brian Edwards is out. on bail was hoping to return next week that would be a game against the cardinals Tampa Bay could be without their slot cornerback Sean Murphy Bunting that means they'd be moving Antoine Winfield a safety into the slot, which he did last week, Indianapolis, cornerback rock you seen who was supposed to be I. Think they're top corner going into the year he was limited in practice. He's had a stomach ailment Be Nice to get him back. At Chicago and then their secondary would look really good with the way Xavier Rosen TJ Kerry had been playing Miami quarterback by Cornerback Byron Jones missed practice doesn't look great for him against Seattle scene what you're more atoms in that game for Seattle at Miami..

"But with Philip Lindsay's running style in his propensity to make big plays in the running game. Running on second down and long, second in a second and seven second and nine. Not as bad of an idea is running with Melvin Gordon. The reason why Melvin Gordon fits so well with Philip Lindsey is because Melvin Gordon is able to get The tough yards. He's good in the red Zone. He's good on short yardage situations, and he's also better than Philip Lindsay at catching the ball out of the backfield, which is another problem. Melvin Gordon has been targeted. At a lower rate in the passing game, then he has at any point over the last four years. Part of this with the Denver Broncos dealing with just this. Onslaught of injuries and just people dropping like flies left and right. Part of this It's unfortunate. It's a bad beat. Got dealt a tough hand. Out with the guys remaining. You still have to try and put them in positions. To succeed. And if you don't use Melvin Gordon in the way that you intended to use him. At least most of the time, he asked to do more with Philip Lindsay out. But if you don't Give him the football in situations where he's succeeded in the past. And if you don't commit to the run a little bit more. To take the pressure off of Brett Rip in, or Jeff Driskel. This is where teams sit back and they blitz the bejesus out of you. Put everybody up to the box every single play because they're not afraid of you passing And they're protecting against the run. But Pat Shurmur Sze playcalling has got to get better. Got to get better. The Broncos have got to stop thinking about these chunk plays and start being able to get positive yards. Baby steps. And I think the way that they're using Melvin Gordon is a big reason why they've been In such bad situations in the last couple of games. Gotta improve. The good news is On paper. There's a lot of reasons for the Denver Broncos to run the football. Primarily the Jets are one of the worst rush defense is in the NFL. 5 to 29872 will take a look at traffic.

"In our number two, and it's our two of two switchbacks home finale to night. And I mean home finale in Every sense, because not only is this the last home game of the season for the switch back since the last home game out whiner field Tavon. Move to the downtown stadium next year, So I gotta boogie at five to go. Ah, call that game. It will make the most of this final hour. 5 to 29872. You want, Teo? Interact with the show. And I know that you do because you got a lot on your mind. The NFL today. Has postponed Steelers Titans Not For a week, just perhaps for a couple of days, and other Titans player tested positive so They're going to push back. The Steelers Titans game will be played Monday or Tuesday. And we'll see. What they decide either be Kind of an appetizer for the actual Monday night game. I have like we did. Ah. Week. One. Or perhaps they just take Tuesday. To themselves. For the Steelers and Titans. But Ah! Still planning to play. Just not going to be on Sunday. Unfortunately, and I don't mean I don't want to be like this, isn't it? Coverted. Thing. But it is somewhat unfortunate that Jets Broncos couldn't get moved. Right, just for any reason, not for the same reason that the Titans and the Steelers were getting moved. Just for something else. You know, like, Ah, Maybe the sewer line backs up at MetLife Stadium can't play the game. Maybe we are. Ah! Maybe after the presidential debate last night. Say jets Broncos doesn't sound all that bad. But certainly not going to be a Marquis. Match up and everyone's already poking fun at it as they should. As they should. There's just nothing. Like it's one thing to go all divisional games. Because you're going to get some clunkers. You're going to get Titans Jags. The coin is central Thursday night game. With the color rush uniforms. So it's one thing When you're playing in division. You're going to get some lopsided matchups. You're going to get some clunkers. Right? Because it's the Broncos in the Jets. It feels like Okay, so you're not opposed to playing. A game between two teams not in the same division on Thursday. Then why would you pick this came What Here we are, well more than 24 hours away. From the Jets and the Broncos and Speaking of the Broncos. When you plan on having a tandem backfield. You guys. Carrying the load. Ah! It really helps to have both guys in there. Right, really helps. Tohave both guys in there because a tandem is not a tandem if it's one guy And for all intents and purposes, Melvin Gordon has been Basically now the bell cow back. Royce Freeman's made some appearances. In terms of actually running the football. Spin. Melvin Gordon by himself with Philip Lindsay out Lindsey, by the way, questionable For tomorrow night's game. Feels like it's gonna have to be. Ah. A really good night of sleep. And Philip Lindsay feeling awesome. Tomorrow tto play. He's not out. Like so many others on the Denver Broncos not ruled out quite yet. But we knew when Philip Lindsay went down. That it would create some problems for the Broncos running attack because we had said for the last couple years, Philip Lindsey, while Terrific. And beloved by Broncos fans. He alone is not enough. He doesn't do enough for you. He can't carry as big of a load as you need him too. So enter Melvin Gordon, a move that I think for the most part was celebrated by Broncos fans. Cause Now you have a complete backfield. Complemented each other very well in terms of their skill sets. And you thought That it was going to be A fruitful endeavor to have the two of them in the backfield, and you knew it was going to be imperative withdrew lock or without him for the Broncos to be able to run the football. And it's now even Mohr, important for the Denver Broncos to be able to run the football withdrew lockout. Goes for all of Drew Ox. Efficiencies, and there's still plenty On his worst day. He's probably better than Bret ripping or Jeff Driskel to be quite honest, right? So it's even Maurin Pera tive. That the Denver Broncos be able to run the football. And they have not been able to At all for the most part this season. I just say, for the most part because at all for the most part Is a little bit of a contradiction. For the most part, the Denver Broncos have not been able to run the football. They rank, I believe. 29th. Yep. 29th Not good. Not good at all. And facing two top rushing defense is in Tampa and Pittsburgh. The last couple weeks doesn't help. Most success the Broncos had running the football was shocker against the Titans, who are near the bottom of the league. In or at least in the bottom half of the league when it comes to Rush defense..

"What's going on with you missed this yesterday, didn't you? I did already jumping on some debate talk. I'll say this After watching last night's debate, I'm starting to have a better sense of who I might vote for. But I'm looking forward to the next two plus the vice presidential debate. And then I'll really be ableto make a decision about clothes are gassed. Sucker of our country's sarcasm is very, very thick Broncos made some moves today. They did. The first started this morning when I broke the news to me journey again, who in 2017 was a heck of a player you and and helped. The Eagles win a Super Bowl. He's got 17.5 sacks. 130 tackles spent three years with the Ravens out of Florida State where he's pretty good player. There is well then, three years with the Eagles. Here's the Jags just for a few games. I will say this. I reach out to a friend who works with the Jags. I said. Why is he on the street? So he wasn't playing well, so they'll probably fit in great here. Ah, obviously being sarcastic there as well, but it just wasn't working down there. That doesn't mean he won't be inspired to feel like he's got a new opportunity here and playing in the vic Fangio defense could Just what the doctor ordered. So they make that move. Then they promote Levante, Bellamy and Derek Tusker to the 53 Man roster. That's because they'd already used there to call ups and they had the spots on the roster. Toe to use that for now, and so those guys are up, which also makes me think, especially with Bellamy that they're not 100% sure Philip Lindsay's going to go and in fact, they're probably leading towards him. Not going, especially on that shaky turf. They're at MetLife. You know, One of the things that I'm really excited about. Is just that young player man Levante Bellamy coming in and giving this team Ah, shot in the arm. I think it's I think it's great and ah We need more plus players that when they touch the ball, they could take it the distance. They we still haven't found creative ways again. Kate's a handler the ball yet Ah hope that happens this week. And Jerry Judy has not had a kind of impact in the first three games, but I constantly reminding myself That rookie year is the toughest for anybody plan in this league, So I'm given both of those guys some slack, but at the running back position we've seen several guys come in and just blow the lid off the Off the pot, and I'm telling you right now, Bellamy could be that guy. Well, and I know how much work he's going to get. He's obviously been active last couple weeks. We seem in special teams. We know they obviously are going to give Melvin Gordon the lion's share of the work, and then Royce Freeman. I think the breakdown, though on Sunday was like 62 38 was weak before it was 79% to 21% for Gordon and Freeman. So maybe this week is your kind of try and some other things. And if Bellamy is active again, and obviously we were expecting to be at this point. Maybe he does have 68 plays that Aaron there. We obviously need to see anything this week barely practiced, But that doesn't mean we won't see since some of Montebello he led the nation in touchdowns last year at Western Michigan and rushing touchdowns with 23 so I think at this point of on Pat Shurmur run big fans, you I'm throwing everything out there that I can. I'm getting, you know, deep into my bag of tricks. You don't just be all gimmicky. But let's let's see some more jet sleep, action and fake and fakes off that black shit. Not that So that they you keep that defense guessing. And they're not just teeing off on your quarterback and your rookie center. You don't want to be all given can did you watch the Chiefs? I mean, are you serious? Yeah. I want that. Well, I want the cheese. You look at the chief. The rans, I think. Look, I'm fine with it. I don't know if Brett ripping in the in the way this offensive line's been playing is ready for that yet. But I'm for it. I also don't have Pat Shurmur is that kind of play caller is shown to be yet in his career. And as they say, Ah, Leopard doesn't change its stripes. Okay, Damar Dotson, is that probable right? Right Tackle start. Yeah, he's going to start at right tackle. And then Calvin Anderson will be the swing tackle Jake Rogers has been elevated from the practice squad. But that doesn't mean how 100% Dress because ah, he doesn't have to. Although they've got that weird rule where you can dress 48, if you're if you're 48 players a lineman, Otherwise you can dress 47. It's one of the many little silly coded additions this year. I don't know how you decide at what point you're 48 player is a lineman. Because if you're only dressing eight lineman, I don't know if it means and 1/9 lineman on how exactly I was written. But yet so the answer the first part your question's going to be tomorrow. Dotson this again it started 106 games. So you're not getting some look in here? That's just Hopinto. Keep his helmet on straight, the more dots and it has been a starter for a long time, and I understand that the books were done with them. But that doesn't mean he won't come in and potentially be an upgrade from what you've seen because Elijah Wilkinson's had a kind of a rough three weeks. Okay. Ah, Any news about a J. Bouvier? Will he be able to get back? You know, I know we have the number one Rouse as faras guys. Ah, that, Ah, that on injured reserve in the percentage and portion of the salary cap, which is Kind of. Ah, it's a big statement. It does not give anybody lets you know that superstars air on their cars are on that list. Not none bigger than von Miller. But is a J Bouvier going to be back? Fours for certain after this Thursday night game. I don't know for certain that they're hopeful and similar to do lock. You're dealing with pain in the shoulder more than structural issues. I think they both hit the ground. In a way, where they obviously it was trauma to the shoulder. But it was more of a dislocation than a separation or anything that might need surgery. So I think that's the hope. But they knew there was obviously bad enough and they needed the spot to put him there and put him on the shelf for three weeks, But by my math Stealer of one week than the box And then this is a third week. So the hope is that he'll be ready to go against the Pats. But there's a chance that it could take a little longer. You know if ah At least some of things I'm hearing is that it may not be a slam dunk, so I guess it's kind of cross your fingers, but then don't be surprised if he's not as close on the other side. Maybe Durlach is a fast healer, and he gets out there and he is ready to go against the Pats. And then you don't have to have the conversation about is Blake Bortles the fourth quarter back in four weeks for this? I want to talk a little bit about Blake portals on the other side, B K. It is big Alan Jo Jo, This is Kay away news radio. Traffic.
The top waiver-wire pickups for Week 3 of fantasy football
"Tap waiver wire picked for me this week. Is going to be 40 Niners runningback Jerick. McKinnon makes sense. McKinnon is available currently in 73% of ESPN League, so widely available and with the most injury, coupled With Kevin Coleman also being gone for a couple of weeks. This seems like an opportunity for the big free agent signing for Kyle Shanahan Step up and have Ah productive week and at least for a couple of weeks. I think he's the at least for this week. I think he's definitely the best ad long term. Maybe not because most it will return. So if you're just looking for help for this week, maybe a couple of weeks. Jerick. McKinnon is your best bet this week on the planet Jets, other playing A. Who cares? The Giants there. Still, I stayed in New York and you look the Giants Steelers. The Bears have run the ball on the Giants, and they stayed in New York. They're playing the Giants, so I would think that that's they're going to try to ground and pound. This is saline advice is always from the update and grapple is positive, right? Like they think he's gonna play? Yes, Okay again, though, it's it's obviously Tuesday, so it's hard to say anything definitively. But my cannon is the top waiver wire pick up, especially If you're hurting at running back, and if you have sake one if he had most, sir, if you had McCaffrey, and now you're starting to Sergio. Look, Yorgos got to start Jamal Williams from crying out. I got Jamal waves in my story. You might be hitting your waiver wire to pick up Jack Kennedy on the can, For sure, he's gone in one of my All right. Who else? Hide Let me fire Rams running back. Donald Henderson was highly drafted. You have Malcolm Brown, who left last week's game with a finger injury, along with Who's the other Ocampa and left with a rib injury as well. So Darnell Henderson stepped in. I think I believe you had 80 total yards from scrimmage. So Donald Henderson is my second ad. He is available in 54% of leagues. 50 44. That's good Darnell game this week. Rams and Bill's about it to Owen omits to know that those of a good man, that's an exciting game. This's now I'll give you a couple of guys right here. One's more of a long term play. The other is going to be a better bet. Immediately, but probably not for the long term. Joshua Kelly, Los Angeles Chargers, he is it looks like he has stepped right into the Melvin Gordon roll from last season. Austin Heckler obviously, is the main running back that you want with the Chargers. Things were better. With Justin Herbert under center. It's undeniable. Tyrod Taylor comes back. I'm I'm not nearly as enthused, but I have a hard time believing Anthony Lynn is just going to give the ball back to Tyrod Taylor. If Justin Herbert continues to be productive, why
Drew Lock lost to Broncos between 2-6 weeks after Steelers defeat
"News Radio Times 10 0 to the Broncos lost to the Steelers 26 21 today, falling tow on two on the season. They also lost their starting quarterback to injury in the first quarter. Jew Lock will have more tests on his injured throwing shoulder Monday. There are reports he could miss 2 to 6 weeks back up. Quarterback Jeff Driskel threw two touchdown passes, including one to running back Melvin Gordon in the fourth quarter school in the pocket floats. One up is that Gordon in the end zone, Gordon goes up makes the catch and he's got a Denver touchdown, Driscoll says. Even though back Quarterbacks don't get a lot of reps in practice. They still need to be ready to go. Being a backup in the NFL is you have to be ready to go without getting those wraps and everybody understands that And it's not an excuse for You know for not executing coach Vic Fangio talked about the team's mindset. Now that they are going to we got the right kind of people here in the right kind of players would show good fight. Our effort is good.

"Melvin Gordon the Denver. broncos about to call in here on this show. He's not wrong collins worth about the Pittsburgh steelers man Dave. Defensively you need to be fast all over the lot you gotta be able to pressure, which is four guys up front. You gotTa have somebody in the middle who make sure that the back end in the front end there are all together and then the back end. Gets. Buttoned up because the front end just all eleven guys working together. If you look at fantasy rankings just to that real quick Pittsburgh's number one number one projecting going into the air he J. Watt could be defensive player of the year. Without question, I do pres upfront my guys. You know Devin Bush in the Middle Link Patrick Joe Haden I mean. I like it and now ben's back. That's the big question I know what type of bend you're getting I think we're going to get the Ben I just can't get the Ben. I think you're going to get the Ben that we've all known I. Don't think I don't think you're GonNa get diminished Eli or or somewhat diminished Phil because. My judgment, we move forward thirty eight years old because I understand what happened to ally towards the end and he's now out and I know fill up at a very difficult twenty nineteen and everybody thinks that Ben's GonNa have the same thing I don't think so. I really don't. Okay. Back here on the rich Eisen show we are live in Los Angeles studios was great chat with Chris Collins Worth moments ago. That was just great. Boy He loves the Pittsburgh steelers. Is Terrific for you. Steeler fans out there. He knows what he's talking about. You sits there in Cincinnati. He's got a front row seat for everything going on right there. Ravens steelers. What if the browns take Camping. You cannot be any worse than first overall selecting teams. So the bengals have to prove Joe Borrow, nobody's even talking about, Joe Kinnear. Yesterday. Could God, he posted a picture of himself with no shirt on and pads, and he looks like a G. Q. Model Dude. Dombi, we just got my ear and so did Brady, Quinn Wow. You went. Went there Brandon Quinton when the heisman trophy maybe have the greatest college season ever? We can close. So the AFC north can be improved. You got to figure that all right is is Chris Brockman Melvin Gordon on the line? Yes, he is. Joining me now from the Denver broncos formerly of the Los Angeles chargers, and of course, the Wisconsin badgers is none other than Kenosha Wisconsin Native Melvin Gordon. How are you sir? August man. How's everything Denver treating us? Dollars man no go guys a good organizations. Good. So Excellent and You know before we get into the football aspect of things I I am mandated with your hometown in the news What are your thoughts when you're you're seeing your hometown mentioned as much as it is in the manner in which it's caused your hometown to be in the spotlight Melvin. Oh. That's pretty sad man. You know you know just we have to do better as a community as people. You know seeing that man it was just disgusting. Made me sad because I know that's not a direct reflection of you know our community in what it's about but it just sticking in to see what was, what's Kenosha like is a growing up what was it like for you Melvin it was a good place. You know you know had plenty of encounters we'll cops and things like that and. You know it's a lot of good people. You know not so much racism around and obviously you know you'd expect here and there and that's everywhere. But overall it was a good place. You know we never really got treated him fairly. So I'm just out that. So when you say encounters, what do you mean by that? This hand like this you know you run into cops you know you see cops all the time cops do a lot of stuff that community You know you just see cops often and You know you never you know had a incident where were. You A guy, get shot in the bag and things like that. So. You, know what I mean? No of course. So so positive, you're saying when you grew up, there were positive encounters police, which is obviously what we're. We're all hoping to hear in hoping to achieve in hoping to to see, do you still have You still have family members in Kenosha. Family. Actually still the. Okay. So what are what are they? What are you what what is going on for for them Melvin? They just you know just nervous especially with You know the shooting that that was going on down there during the protests things like that. So but they're safe. They're all say You know and they're all fine now but you know especially during that. During that. Period lose just kinda crazy on back on Melvin Gordon here on the rich Eisen short of the conversation's been within the Broncos on this subject on social justice. What conversations have you had a team together? We all had You know team meeting on it and you know the data you know most teams sat out. shout. You, know I think Detroit for really star. Net Out. But you know we got up there and we discussed you know are we? Shared. Our you know our thoughts on the situation. The opinion you I got up there and I smoke and. It was good. You know it was good that I let the guys know you know how I feel. Is Good to know howdy. So so overall conversation would you mind You could you could turn aside if you wish which I prefer not but that's the way I'll set up the question. Can you share what you shared with your teammates on the subject own just a general? General idea it's really hard for me You know seeing everything and I was just Kinda really emotional. It 'cause I couldn't be home with my family. during this time and United Express Them. you know if we could do something to the picture rather we you know we try to figure out something here. Something just Kinda let my people back home though that. You know that we all stand together with them. and that they were family here and you know I couldn't be with my family. So I kind of needed support through this.

Yes, I'll be up no learn sideways than vertically than sideways and vertically again, if you had this thing, I have Chris and I share here on this show and it's also very important for men of our age. To do such a thing I had the covert nineteen swab all the way up to your brain colonoscopy double avenue. So I had that going for me. Chris. I had that as well the. University. I, been. More than ever wanted to not even bill. Bella. Check every, DOT folks. I want no more part of this stuff. Just. Unbelievable. Right. I mean thank God. They've got the the live at now gone so I can't wait to hear some stories on. vk Oh my gosh. So are you are you planning on being at the Games at the plan for you and Al to physically be at each Sunday night spot? Chris Yeah Yeah I don't I mean I guess we could do it if we had to do it now. I it would be it would be hard. You know because I can't even really explain I mean you would understand this. You Call Games you know what I'm talking about did say I mean my my setup Kinda. Looks like a blind airplay right I've got sort of you kinda get trained to different things and if it's a if it's a pass a than. This one play I look at this, and that's that, and then how we time out replays and communicated it back to Fred and drew and and then you know kind of listen to what else saying but also trying to talk to Fred and you know how how did you do that from like your basement talking to John smoltz them he was saying that they he's in his basement call on the game and his partners in his basement calling the game and the producers somewhere else you know calling the gay it's just I don't know how you do it. It's just a fascinating year and we're GONNA. See how it all plays out when with wins and losses. Very shortly, starting in nine days from now, Kansas City and Houston but I I you know normally we do start with the Super Bowl champ and I do WanNa talk with you about them in a second. But this is a as we all know been dominated our world for the last twenty years in the conversation about Brady and Bella check you and I had a fascinating moment sitting and watching the two of them together on the set of the NFL one hundred, all time team show interestingly enough taped out of order that was the first segment that we recorded was the two of them on the second. How do you think they will both fair without each other this year? Chris. Pretty well, I I mean I. Really. Do I you know? Tom Brady's GONNA have offensive weapons that he didn't have at least last year at his disposal in Tampa they've you know. Three tight ends they can play with anybody and you know Godwin Evans and I mean, it's It's GonNa be exciting to see what he can do in that and the other part of him. That you know you know the hard part is this the first time he's had to learn a new offense right and and so that's going to be at the very least. It's going to be a different language. I don't think it'll be new plays I. Don't think it'll be something he can handle but just you know being able to a nod with guys that you been playing with for ten years. Of the world. He's got Gronkowski back there with them one more time. but I really do feel like that. This is going to be a test for Tom especially early on especially going against drew brees and an offense that has been together now. For quite some time. So I'm looking forward to that I. I think I'm more looking forward to watching New England play because new. England is God. They're just such an interesting case study..
Denver Broncos add to injured list at training camp
"Injury starting amount up a bit at Broncos training camp. Von Miller did return to practice on Sunday, but his elbow kept him out of most of the drills. Running back Melvin Gordon is still nursing sore ribs. Rookie quarterback Michael Jim Moody is gonna be on the shelf for about a week with a quad injury, and rookie linebacker Justin Starr not left practice with a wrist injury progress back on the practice field UCL center this morning. At 9 15
What analysts have to say about the Broncos' 2020 free agency haul
"Season let's talk about the the Broncos free agents that they could be doing a really really good job of posting up some video break down to the players that the Broncos have recently added it's giving people a chance to kind of get to know some of these players some of our our household names like Melvin Gordon but Graham Glasco certainly is not a household name I think for a lot of Broncos fans so maybe let's just let's call it back to the AJ Bouye a trade and what did you what do you think the Broncos got with AJ Bouye well I think first and foremost this is a life of Fangio's scheme fit to be T. at you know he's a he's a lanky guy he's got speed towards what I think of a cover three or mast cell type defense of financial likes to run he's a very smart player in terms of getting himself in position there was a place Sam Darnold you know the just like the run that post will route a lot they try to run it earlier in the game and you know I think they did a very good job communicating at their place band coverage there and boy a cover number one on the post pattern pretty decently late in the game they try to throw the same exact routes and boy they read it perfectly he gotten from the wide receiver and shielded him almost like a box out in terms of of a basketball type analogy here and he was able to go downfield to make a play on that post pattern intercepted returned about twenty six yards off enjoy downhill looks more guys in band you know Ryan you guys know this well but being around silty a lot more defensive back plays importance and I know that a lot of Broncos fans been clamored for a star name but look aged boy if he can recreate a little bit at twenty seventeen season any ad you know it's gonna be fully healthy corner to twenty twenty you can still be a guy that contributes massively in you don't have to have the most amount of telling your secondary if you got guys that are really smart that's one thing about how Justin Simmons involved fans your system I think Borges same type of player not just a bully a Simmons Jackie Jackie a Gaza border they're all intelligent guys and guys that are willing to hit is there anybody out there you see right now on the free agent market still left it maybe the Broncos could bring in and that the the defense the second or the kind of fits that mold you know I was thinking a lot about it you know one of the names that I think we've all talked about as principal tomorrow but with Chicago Bears releasing and he met all the time in the world to be able to sign in the fact they haven't done so just yet tells me that you're not interested or you're waiting for a few more things to happen in terms of you know Simmons and you may be full plans yet on off that extension's gonna happen now in the off season of this year but I feel like it may look more so in the NFL draft and no garlic Bryce Oliver junior I like him I am also an EC Roberson Adalat tech is one of the guys that still exonerated could be available maybe in the second third fourth round if this team really wants to look at that position are you mentioned earlier in the broadcast to kill will be called when we told him you know what the rockets could you never gets called PI so that might be a good idea to bring in in but also that for like the market outside is is pretty small you know there's like save your roads I feel like would be too pricey and I just don't see where he would fit right now and the Broncos can consider that they traded for boy name and they also re signed Vontae buys before I project in forty eight I'm gonna be the outside corners provincials defense this year so really at this point Thomas like the market right now has close for Denver on cornerback to like I said I think that could change at any point time considering if they make any roster moves to fix more space I think restructuring Callaghan's contract opens the door for maybe another mover to
Falcons could field an offense with 11 first-round draft picks
"So we had a truck a couple of signings by the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend right to pick up tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens and they also acquired look Kwan Treadwell a former number one pick for the Minnesota Vikings yeah as the Atlanta falcons roster currently stands right now on offense alone just on offense they have a Levin former first round picks all of these former first round picks quarterback Matt Ryan first round pick Todd Gurley who sign when he was released first round pick Julio Jones first round pick Calvin Ridley first round pick the Quantrill first round pick Hayden Hurst first round pick left tackle Jake Matthews first round pick left guard James carpenter first round pick center Alex Mack former first round pick Chris Lindstrom the right guard former first round pick and right tackle Caleb McGary also that he first started his first round eleven is incredible let them all eleven of them a former first round pick I mean there's no way that's ever happened before right I can't believe that what ever but here's the real question if you had to redraft everyone of these players how many would be former first rounder this okay because I think this is fair Lidstrom McGarry and carpenter I've always been really what one or two years no it's been really since two thousand eleven okay yeah so let's remind me Gerry I think you were taken off or taken them out yeah okay so all of the other nine how many would be redrafted as a first round what's what's going on it's not right absolutely no question that runs for Todd Gurley no yeah I I would say no I would sit well I would say no one quite frankly his a conversation about the value of the position in general could also affect the new with him that was the thing coming out of college yes I look he has fifty eight rushing touchdowns over his first whatever seasons and all the other ones are either in the hall of Famer going let me just say six are we saying first rounder today or go back to the beginning again it would re drawing back to the beginning again because I'm currently the way Todd Gurley came out I mean would you not still take him in the first one that's the question now right are you going to pay for that kind of production from a running back anymore we saw Christian McCaffrey Leonard for net like there's been plenty examples of even a legal or not re signing a big second contract drafting a great one of the first round can still benefit you a lot okay I'm just trying to get to it you know is that what they've done in their right career does that mean where are the first roll worthy to me the girly thing is to your point he had a knee injury coming out of college and right when they signed with the red sign that long term deal with they're trying they got out of now then he was going to be chronic so to me the top group member he was the first one that airports reset the market for running backs and it turned out no he just re establish the old line of thinking but that first three years of production would you that would you spend a first round pick on that because we saw that rand's office how much in common now it always goes like this with the running game but in combination with an offense of line that did really well what you brought into what worth over would you pay for that as the foundation of your off I'm beginning to go the Melkite around here that I'm not sure running back as well because Melvin Gordon was in that same draft and Melvin Gordon is on his team I got an extreme I think that's the biggest conversation we could take out of this is the running back position record number mellow one point eighty never take a running back in the first Rana I wonder for we're slowly but surely going back to it I mean there was a contract a couple years ago with the first running back off the board was late second round out of Tennessee and I think we're going back to that after a bevy running backs being taken so we were definitely in on Matt Ryan yes we're out on Todd Gurley a legit is amazing looking back at Todd Gurley's draft class there's not a lot of got like if you're talking about reworking the top ten Todd Gurley might be the most wealthy in that group maybe outside of Amari Cooper yeah we can we can have that discussion later because that's in it read graphic I think is always fast and you have to wait a certain amount of time Julio Jones know quite well right Calvin Ridley first round too early again I think it's too early last year what he had sixty three receptions okay just under nine hundred okay seven touchdowns I would mean he also can't account for how bad that team ask me yes or no right now I'd say yes but I still think it might be too early Hayden Hurst no not because look they they took marketers later in the draft in the third round he clearly became the tight end of Baltimore which made Hayden Hurst by the way has taken in the first row before Lamar Jackson R. Jackson for Lamar starting you know tight on that team right now marketers you said right Hayden Hurst also dealt with some injuries and stuff there too that's okay in perfect sample size and when you have a guy come on like marquetry who could predict that the way that offense ended up of what he was the Mackey award winner a what he was coming home with one truck will no no Jake Matthews yes I think so I think so I think so do not I meet yeah yeah I mean yes he's been there he's been there is a second contract I also wrote a like doesn't miss a lot of games he's he's dependable yeah I think that's what it our printer are probably not I mean he's he's been a guy that's been in the league for nine years now dependable guy but we're talking about first round right you know I mean when you're twenty four we'll talk about for sure we're talking about top ten picks like a lot yeah yeah yeah I I'd probably lean toward no on that as well yeah yeah Alex Mack yeah absolutely yeah yeah and then the other than what we remember and I think Lidstrom would be headed in that direction yeah kill the guy who's more reach last year get killed the one I have questions about obviously we know the health concerns that existed before the draft earning a hard issue that he had had to deal with early in this time oxygen so there's a lot to hash out with those two but just I mean blows off the page when you just read that number the every single hundred dinners with that crew yeah what eleven Ryan still got its still on that ride to reach for the paycheck first but everyone else has to at least go for their wallets and act like there's also a common I do with you know with my dad so you got rid you got Ridley help you got got this R. Ridley Hearst links from a Gerry all still on their rookie deals you know wrecked yeah everybody else is is all for them yeah if I'm looking at yes correct so yeah they're all fascinating eleven a former first rounders on

Raiders rally to beat Chargers 26-24
"The raiders have won two games in five days of a score late fourth quarter touchdown to beat the Chargers twenty six twenty four Derek Carr was twenty one of thirty one for two hundred eighteen yards and a touchdown rookie Josh Jacobs had seventy one yards rushing on sixteen carries including the game winning eighteen yard touchdown safety Eric Harris had two interceptions the second of which was a fifty six yard return for a score of things was struggling in the first but you know they they they made account when you need it soon and you know credit to those guys for applying pressure and put us in a in a situation and again to close out the game for the Chargers Philip rivers was seventeen of thirty one for two hundred seven yards throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions Melvin Gordon the third at a hundred yards rushing and a TD Riley on Oakland

"melvin gordon" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why
"Hey everybody and welcome to this week's episode of year wrong and here's why i'm chris woodward. L. joined his always by greg crone gregory. How are you chris. It's football season. Let's go it is quite literally the kickoff of the twenty nineteen n._f._l. Season <hes> the first actions gonna take place in about an hour and fifty minutes as we record this and as you would imagine all of our topics this week are about baseball every sink no every single topics about football. We're gonna talk. The melvin gordon's not gonna play another down for the los angeles chargers. I stopped myself. I didn't say san diego while the new england patriots. This is a double dip. The patriots are going to lose on sunday but still will make it to the a._f._c. Title game and why cam newton is gonna finish in the top three of m._v._p. Voting when this thing is all said and done we'll start with melvin gordon and <hes> this is a this is a really ugly situation and i think it's an ugly situation on both sides because the chargers have unrealistic expectations for what his value is but also melvin gordon has unrealistic expectations for what is value is. This is a guy who has averaged over three point nine yards per carry one in his five n._f._l. N._f._l. Seasons let that sink in for a second one time in his career. Has he rushed for four point zero or more yards. It's a game in a precarious season. That's just it's not only that it's not good. It's pretty terrible and considering that this guy i was you know i know. This is a very unofficial thing but he was in a top one hundred player this past year <hes> on the n._f._l. Network charts. He had this big twenty. The <hes> eighteen season russia's one hundred seventy five times for ten touchdowns really does well last year but he just has never done it over the course of the season never ever ever he wants too much. Money allegedly turned down ten million dollars a season for <hes> from the chargers in the past. He's looking for closer to thirteen as what we're hearing. That's that's a crazy number which making more of the highest paid running backs in football and the reality is that you know often cler had a similar season. I'll be it unless carries last year. Averaging five point two yards per carry it for a call broke out a forty. One yard didn't quite have the nose for the end zone. The gordon did only three touchdowns to to gordon's ten butts you can you can use a running back by committee type situation and san diego. Yeah go without really worrying too much about it. You know i saw over at bavasi sportsbook. Obviously the chargers have a really interesting game this week against the indianapolis colts the end the bavadra has the chargers minus six point five. I think that's pretty fair think that's indicative that they don't think that melvin gordon's worth all that much in another way i kind of land on the opposite of this i mean i i understand that some of the the offensive numbers for for gordon aren't necessarily as consistent but the guy does make a difference on the field like when he's actually in the game these teams have to have to key in on him and they have to target them and it gives other guys opportunities..
Jerry Jones talked the talk. But Ezekiel Elliott knew Cowboys owner would pay up
"Begin begins today with jerry jones closing in on a deal with ezekiel elliott as he said he would elliott has flown back from parts unknown and jones's put the money on the table. The dealers is reported to be somewhere in the neighborhood of ninety million dollars for six years which is a pretty nice neighborhood frank. Did the cowboys do the right thing by showing zeke the money yeah well. We know how it works tony. It's all about the guaranteed money so right now. If it's six years of actually being eight year contract because we being extension still has two years left. I think jerry jones and i think is equal. It all knew that he was going to be backed by week one. I think this whole thing all along him going to mexico wherever he was working out. He knew that he would be back. I think he's our most important offensive player and to the point point. Jerry jones is desperate desperate to win the super bowl and he thinks he needs ezekiel elliott and he didn't wanna missing one game so i'm gonna push back gently because they need suzuki and this had to be done. I'm not sure they need ezekiel elliott right now. This has nothing to do with money. In my mind i think they open with the giants the better team than the giants and the redskins. They're a better team than the redskins. I think what went on in jerry's mine is the specter of emmett smith when they went oh and two and he had to publicly sort of eat crow and go and give him the money now. I think you always want ezekiel elliott and to your point. He is their offense. This is not the kid from san diego dago melvin gordon yeah. They don't really need like you put dak prescott out there without zeke elliott and they don't really have a great offense. I'm just i'm just suggesting that it could have been because they're gonna. They're gonna give him the ball so much that he could get hurt. I could they wait for you. Want load management then in the n._f._l. N._f._l. I want him to make sure if i'm trying to win the super bowl. I wanna make sure i understand there's sixteen games before you get to the price. You're my lead guy but you're bringing being up. Emmett smith and emmett smith played with more battle-tested quarterback number one. Yes a better team. They went on to win the super bowl. This team has a long way to go before they can do that. I guess it's it's too important. You know the gauging your talk just chunking up saying they're they're guaranteed win. I don't i don't but that's how that's what jerry jones said. Maybe we'll get him back in a week. We need them in time for the playoffs. Yes you sure you're gonna make. I'm not saying i would wait till the playoffs. That's what he well. He made it sound like we don't need in the first few weeks. We'll play that is public. Posturing that jerry does very very well but the money's money's on the table
Jalen Hurts follows Oklahoma's QB tradition with his dazzling debut
"Heisman hopeful jalen hurts his campaign where they bang last night in his oklahoma a home debut finishing twenty twenty three with three hundred thirty two passing yards three touchdowns to go along with hundred seventy six rushing yards and another three he scores on the ground. Oklahoma took down houston forty nine thirty one
Who is more important to the Dallas Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott or DeMarcus Lawrence?
"Would you say is more important to the success of the dallas cowboys ezekiel elliott demarcus lawrence simple question well. I would say this is zeke elliott but for reasons that aren't as apparent. He had seventy seven catches ashes. He's a factor in their passing and we we agree. Zeke light is more valuable to the dallas cowboys and demarcus lawrence marcus lawrence pete over twenty million dollars. A year out of context is everything zeke. Elliott has two more years on his contract. He has no place to go. They could franchise him after that so that is a big look. He's really important but where else this is he gonna go. He has two years remaining. That's what makes it hard and it's not just the two years remaining the to franchise tag after that third franchise tag if they wanted so you could make the argument that dallas controls zeke's rights for five more seasons and get ice about until he decides through the collateral damage and all of this is the play the teammate you sitting there you you know nancy. We had the preseason bahamas. You're now. Everybody's focus week. One game plan in for the giants here. We're planning for the giants. We're getting ready for a divisional opponent and our best player has named reported. You know how much of a down of that is going into the the season will all everyone has all this optimism because everyone's owino right every it's a clean slate for everyone. You had a data zeke elliott. There hasn't ed's reporting and damian from a player's perspective. Here's the other thing anybody could get zeke elliott signed. That's the easy part. The context is dot prescott amari cooper byron aaron jones and starring see so you want your teammate in there but in the back of your mind as veteran. You're like wait a second. How much of the pies left for me so you have to really artful in terms of saying well. I got to be able to get jailing smith signing because he can't leave the marcus lawrence of good pass rusher but i gotta leave enough money for these other players because the starting quarterback he can't go anywhere. He may not happy elite but they've won. A lot of games with the sky is one. We'll say mike and i'm sorry but this is the dallas cowboys for for building team around zeke elliot. You look out of the dallas. Cowboys are constructed. They are like one of the few teams that their bill ronald running back. Okay so dallas cowboys put themselves in this position right now and now they're paying the piper because zeke elliott zeke elliott has perform and then maybe the top running back in the national football. He sees what the future is running running back position and he's sitting there saying i'm not i need it. I need to withhold services right now if i don't do it right now. I'm never going to get paid like like the other top running back. You're the best argument you can make for zeke elliott. They were fifth in the n._f._l. Last year and time of possession translate look at their defense. They were top five defense because they were never on the field. There were twenty two point scored but zeke elliott kept the their defense off the field bottom line. What's the eleventh-hour in this. I think that once you get to next week next week we get past monday or so monday or tuesday not complete the opener which again juries now bracing for an expecting and i think the problem with this situation with melvin gordon the longer it goes on the more things are said the more issues pop up we already heard jerry jones one say zeke coup which basically insulted zeke as agent so these things going. You never expected last year. After a couple of weeks. Steelers offensive lineman would be critical levian bell and they were and that inflamed the situation association and led to hurt feelings and eventually led to levy on bell sitting out the year so once you get this far into the game and they're so many sides with so much at stake everything is very personal sensitive and it's very risk but there there's a big distinguishment here. Fear does the work of reason. Maybe i'm bell was a free agent. J._v. soundcloud can be free agent. Zeke elliott's going anywhere at some point. He has to be reasonable because if he wants to play football is going to be all you with that but what i would say to you there is this in the next time zeke elliott steps on the football field he has he's not gonna be out there until he gets new contract when it gets a new contract what's the guarantees on that you tell me why would he stepped foot on fulfill. Find me take who am i sell it. I'm not stepping foot on a football field until i have my thirty forty whatever the number raising guaranteed millions of dollars and i'm not risking myself getting an a._c._l. Injury were some kind of career threatening injury. That would damage value. You keep your three point eight million dollars dollars this year. You keep defines. They come with that. We'll see how it goes if i'm sitting out the season and not playing and there are questions every day season to sabotage and if i'm jerry jones is stephen stephen jones. I'm betting on my offense align. I'm betting on good quarterback. I'm getting on the return of jason witten and every game i win. I'm more voted in my position and that's how why this whole thing is gonna implant and i've been in that situation. I'm like boy. We hold up without the role rears omnitel his agent we can but that's what kept me up at night and that's really where the cowboys are can only pollard pass protect. I promise you the first time that he gives up a sack. That's gonna put more money in zeke. Elliott's pocket and that's why i said at the beginning zeke elliott is right. The dallas cowboys right. Both sides are right now. The question is figuring out a solution that works for everybody that helps them save their season and help zeke. They don't either talk about it again on monday today to announce they are inactive ninety minutes before kick-off. I'm saying the eleventh hours like ninety one minutes as long as as long as he can get sign on that day on sunday before kick-off saturday four o'clock right he'd have to be in a roster exempt. It's a great point susan because they could get roster exemption so maybe they could sign him. He could work out for a couple of days but it'd be saturday and then as you're limit though
"melvin gordon" Discussed on First Things First
"Does he deserve an extension of course absolutely but gem hurt one thing and guys in the locker room really respect that can't no absolutely philip rivers as a top competitor played against them all of my career i know what he's capable of doing not just from the xs and os standpoint and being able to throw the football down the field but the intangibles that he brings to the table too so you're talking about losing derwin james on the defensive side of the ball russell coons banged up the absence of melvin gordon philip rivers will go a long way to offset some of those those issue. Oh of course i did of course i the one thing that philip rivers. He commands the respective everybody that he plays against because he's one of those quarterbacks that you can hit as hard as you want to and and he's just gonna keep coming back for more. That's the thing that's impressive about him and his team feeds off of that. I know what i'm saying. It's just one of those things that they get confidence from seeing his competitive fire and so i'll look to continue to see that from philip rivers even without melvin gordon in the backfield also fill rivers getting back hunter henry this year that's gonna outstanding outstanding to be able to work too short to intermediate passing game compliment what he's got on the edges of that offense so the charges are imperfect position to try to compete for a championship suit but i just feel like melvin gordon is that one additional piece that can help pushed him over the top. I'm interested to see how that resolve. We're going to keep talking. Quarterbacks coming up find find out who thinks tom brady is still the best quarterback in the n._f._l. Next son i welcome back first things first. We are talking patriots reporter. Adam schefter see signs that this could be. Tom brady's last season. Despite brady being forty two pro football well-focused still sees brady is the number one quarterback entering the twenty nine thousand nine hundred season so see what's the biggest key to brady and the pats making a super bowl run. I just think because they're going to build on what they did. Last year. We saw from week number sixteen because bill belichick is the best at it. He knows what the new rules the lack of contact attack lack of interaction with the players in off season. It's less physical so he takes the first month of the season and say it's extended training camp so last year we people were doubting out in them. Were they going to be physical where they're going to be explosive. They retool like nobody's business. No one in the league does it like them but in week number sixteen on they became a physical dominant running football team. They realized their quarterback was forty. One time they realized that grant was not himself itself. They realized they didn't have josh gordon at the time so they didn't have a real legitimate threat on the outside so all they could do was run it eshelman in the slot plot..
"melvin gordon" Discussed on NFL: The Dave Dameshek Football Program
"Fingers wings in zalid like we say we had a grand time in nashville tennessee a couple months ago around the draft with rashad evans met some some wonderful people down there in nashville behind the counter in front of it and so we'll tackle some fresh takes here and let's talk about the big story right now these two high end running backs and as far as i'm concerned how it relates to levian bell you'll recall a year ago. Levian bowel decided to play pseudo martyr. This wasn't just about twenty six in his future with the black and gold and how much money he could get out of the steelers dealers but levian bowel declared that he was going to reset the market for all running backs going forward running back for getting a raw deal these high end runners such physical beatings eatings they take they they deserve better from pro football and listen. I i'm proletariat believe money you kind of lean that way. I'm not sure absolutely. I'm amanda people. I the you know the working man even a multimillionaire working man. I'm gonna side on that side of things most most often so i was on on-board spiritually with levy inbound now's a steelers fan and the closing window that is now closed for the the high end. Triplets is a with with antonio leo brown rothlisberger and onto a new era. I could see that without levian bow. There's gonna be some some consequence there but levian bell doesn't reset the market a kind kind of doesn't work you can debate that all you want but he would have wound up with more money had he just signed with pittsburgh in what is presumably a better more stable organization than the jets witnessed the fact that soon as the jets. I know madam case go to the deem declares yeah. We pay too much money for him not in by the way the g._m.'s been fired gave him that contract. That's right yeah you owe the g._m. Gave him that much money honey that are out outrageous. Who do such a thing in the twenty first century. You're gone so now we have zeke elliot and melvin gordon following levian bells lead. I think you can make a case that there's a kind of a straight line like well. That's that's how you play hardball. That's how you have to get it done and so so i guess the the question is open ended money. You're the voice of the chargers first off melvin gorden. How do you think this plays out now. There's word for melvin gordon camp yeah. We requested a trade. Did they refused ed. Where do where do the chargers melvin gordon go from here. I think melvin either takes the deal they've offered him or he doesn't play. That's that that'd be my guess is they would be content because they're not going to get anything in a trade for him. Because any team the traits form going to be dealing with the exact same thing and that is that todd gurley makes thirteen million and mrs if you believe and i'm not saying i have sources that other people don't think they're the same people that have been putting this out there in social media and in through the media i know ian rapoport is put it out there. I think steve why chaz as well if i remember kind of where i was seeing their numbers but girly in bell and david johnson are all at thirteen devante freeman is eight and you're talking about a charger team that's offering them. You know twenty one million bucks over the first two years. I mean now you. You are right below those three guys and ahead of that second tier. I think that's where he belongs. I i think i don't think melvin gordon because he missed four games games last year. He missed four years before that. That's the issue twenty seven. His knee was given a ton of trouble like hey. I'm the kind of the old adage. The old adage is whatever your salary is for this year plus the franchise tag. That's your next two years. If you can beat dat take it because that's that's reality. I mean you know whether again you mentioned bourgeoisie proletariat. That's the reality those rules you operate under so his salary salaries five six. What's the franchise tag for backs. It's like nine. Is that what it is right now about nine million six. He's getting twenty one..

"Move the needle a little bit like my thank goodness that guy's hand i had he shook my hand and unlike my dad's little baby hands by our uh-huh to the elbow really like maybe maybe it's a bow center action. I gotta get for those boys quickly on the topic of camp. We just got the news. We can announce august fourteenth wednesday. We are traveling to charges camp. Oh is that right yeah. No no guests confirmed yet but we are going i will. I'll make sure i it did not confirmed yet. We'll get a guest who would imagine you'll get multiple. We'll get plenty of guests chargers organization. I always love catching up with melvin in ingram and melvin gordon for that matter. We'll see if melvin gordon happens to be there very quickly. I do want to point out to money into the audience in case you missed it. Eddie spaghetti has vowed to get a mohawk doc in advance of the season so i've done it done in the past. I mean thanks to eric weddell. Who had them hogging. Dave was shocked at in college in the summers in between grades in college. I had a mohawk multiple times. That's all right listener. <hes> give it to you now. The listener participation it's better than super cuts right now for me. This is not great. What a great fan. Look at that hair. It's terrible fan play fan player interaction between juju on the head tattoo guy a nice little play for the steelers their spaghetti. Would you do that if let's say. Let's say it's it's saquon tough. He's such an awesome so you've got your mohawk. You're at giants camp and he says signed your head there and if you get a tattoo season tickets what do you do. I me being an idiot. I probably would do it but i'm afraid tattoos because i want i would get them. I think music related but i'm i'm just too afraid to go and actually get it done. He'll get eddie written on the tattoo similar. You're you're hold on hold on. He was going to get that stupid pearl jam stick man <hes> i mean in the soundgarden the bad motivate though the bad water it looks like the old adapter for the forty five when records were beggars can't be choosers. If you're willing to get a tattoo of either one of those on the side of your head. I'd love to see long as i can see your girlfriend jada when chief when its first revealed to her whoa. How was your day pretty good. Check this out. I wouldn't get on my head. It would be like a steeler guys saquon thing but my sweetheart. I'm not going to believe the good fortune that fell upon me this afternoon. I went the chargers camp. Melvin ingram shave my head and i returned the favor by putting saquon barkley on the side of my hand dig. That's the good news. We got season tickets but g. men bad news. There is none yeah it's a work of art. It's my commitment a big blue. Get off order. Get out of the way all right. Let's jump into it then we. I'm sorry delays always do this to you but i'm going to say we have some camp brown voicemails to get. We have a a lot to get okay real quick. I want to say because it was really of all the advice. My older brother gave me as i was coming of age maturing. This was by far the best because i scoffed eh stick man pearl jam figure but there was a time when when an eighteen year old me was ready to get the grateful dead dancing bears tattoo ah i wish you had done and make fun of the day.

"He's he's. He listens to the show. Every day. Rampton chargers them could win the super bowl heck they mean lebron and how would the clippers and carolina dodgers. They look like they're gonna he goes. I guess it doesn't really matter 'cause you guys. Don't talk about sports at all so i think we might adjust a little bit. It does little sports here idle for ends our house or would be powerhouse or iconic college football team. I don't think anybody has better more frank kind of conversations about the state of things then petro says about his alma is unique in that in that matter we had a we had an interesting. He's looking to cause injury injury where there but i said. I said you have to remember because he was you know he was kind of a bemoaning the fact that so many of his former teammates or former trojans agents just heaped praise upon the program endlessly and i said you gotta remember how odd it is that you treat and view your alma emma mater the way you do. It is not commonplace. It is rare that a former captain of a football team especially at u._s._c. trojans football team and what they mean in the community and the national picture just is always defensive. I shouldn't say defensive but but always cynical cynical about what the messages that's being but is that just that i guess i don't know many guys that are all mater but you wouldn't you wouldn't list him or would you. He's not a hater per se. I don't think he's looking too. I think i think like seven years bad for the very he you. His proclivity is to go towards the negative. I would say as opposed to look for a positive in any any setting. He retaliated with a negative their insurance presence to be pond. It's much better than most people who puff their chest out and surprise that kids don't go to their school who like what don't they know who we are like. You guys haven't won a national championship in twenty eight years for him. I think for him. It's the whole <hes> <hes> and you know. We see this in the n._f._l. Too right is kind of the or with the lakers. It's like oh you got a higher on the family and that's what he's done and it's been an unmitigated disaster the hayden lynn swann exactly right yeah mess and the pete carroll tree. Oh we'll just hire. Steve are keys. You know we'll hire lane kiffin mass terrible while clay helton what nobody's getting in trouble way to go your u._s._c. now. The qualification for a head coach is that guys aren't getting. I'm in trouble anymore so we're good. We're not and it's not and it's funny that connected to to the game of pro football ballot. Check doesn't have that same sort of there's no sense of that loyalty. Necessarily there whereas old school tenured kind of franchises one wears black and gold another one that wears blue and red up in the tri state area of new york there they do hold onto that like grim death like we are the we don't you know where the name take. This is family. Dave gettleman beck ski knows the family yeah. Maybe maybe just kind of look somewhere else. What else goes are doing around the league while we are here now now it is i mean it's football season because there are all these things happening. Melvin gordon zeke elliot probably the two biggest story lines right now and beyond that preseason football now underway reminder people. Keep people keep getting very excited but don't get too oh crazy. This is all a lie everything you're watching in the month of august is of visual lie. Everything you hear is ally look look. He's in the best shape of his career. Team's going to surprise some people this. This offense is going to be a nightmare for anyone. We have to face and then you watch these preseason..
The latest on a running back's quest for a new deal
"That right now in the league we have the drama around Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon and running backs and this is a a hot topic especially perhaps for analytics minded fans and analysts so how do you think this plays out worn either way specifically with those running backs in mind or just in in general are teams going to down right stop paying the best running backs in the league you know real good NFL money it is such a hot button issue because you definitely have the contingent of analytics people who have opinions supported by the true data which shows that the downgrade between that guy and who his replacement might be is not going to be that big of a difference and the difference but you save and salary cap would massively be able to help improve your team at the position that matter right at their quarterback your offense of line made your secondary your edge rusher those types of positions but then you have the other side of the coin where there are people that are core believe in player the get paid and running backs put themselves through the most beating that any player does in the league or one of the closest and that those guys deserve to get paid for as much as they can possibly get because their careers are so short and neither side is like you very willing to like meet in the middle but you know the fact is that people who one of Haiti's backs a lot of money because they're worth and salary cap on the league is rising into back should be getting more of that and and so their salary cap number should increase as well the problem with that school of thought is that they are exactly right that contract for these guys their careers are shorter because it's the most injured prone position that we have in the NFL these guys the typically get injured quicker and the problem you wind up with these Todd Gurley situation where you have a guy you loved what he did on his rookie deal you have a new coach you think you're going to use it a lot he's going to be your three don bell cow back together and you pay on second contract his first season and because you're using it so much you end up getting injured and then you're in a situation where you committed a bunch of money to this guy but you now realize that we can't use another three don bell cow back because he's too old and he's too brittle and he's not going to help hold up to that now we're going to going draft guide we have to draft guy somewhat in the third round as running back to help augment the fact so it's it's just nothing there's no clear cut right answer I don't think that these guys should be taking up as large of a percentage of their salary cap we saw guys go down last season Todd Gurley lady on now they're back up came in James Connor CJ Anderson the typically I'll produce those who died in terms of their production and lady on balance how girly were the two best running back on twenty seventeen like literally the number one or number two think about it on a quarterback perspective if if you add to the best quarterback in the NFL go out and you just had to put their backup in there's not a chance they would outperform I mean it is always a lot of talking about like bad starting quarterback not a chance they'd outperform those guys no running back with a really different position at half the treated as a very unique way you know we're working and don't love living in buffalo and working here at as we do I feel like I or we were pretty early to the frustration with the voting big time assets to running backs warned the bills for years really our our entire careers together Mike and I've been together I think this will be our sixteenth season come up together and the bills are almost always had a bell cow running back and normally like Travis Henry was a second round pick and then there's a run of first round picks that include mackay he and Marshawn Lynch and CJ Spiller Miller's Fred Jackson who showed up off the street and Jackson may have been the best of the whole bunch which is like mad being but at the same time I grew up in an era where running back for the stars in the game and I find myself feeling somewhat sympathetic to these guys that they're kind of being left behind while learners and receivers and quarterbacks reap all the rewards of this league that's just you know growing exponentially year by year it seems I don't I don't disagree one bit the fact the batteries running backs are always going to hold some value right you're never going to go where there are a hundred percent pass because it's more efficient to run the football in certain situations the third vehicle it short yardage situations as well as down inside of the red zone those are the most optimal time who won a running back but you do not want to be using him as often on first and second down especially second along as teams have been using that in the past that in the areas that we grew up in and watched you know and that Smith just caring so much load south of the Dallas Cowboys and many other back from the levy doing similar things just a totally different game I am sympathetic to the effort they put in and they're professionals now and they've been told all along the way that they're the best running back they're the best running back high school college you know into the league and now they're coming up to try to get a new contract and teams are calling on we don't value as you as much anymore and it it it is the is that my hard blow for them to take them sure Warren sharp at sharp football on Twitter sharp football analysis dot com for his excellent book and you can learn a lot
Chargers, Melvin Gordon And Ten Million Dollars discussed on SportsCenter AllNight
"Time Joseon adders are reporting the agent for Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has requested a trade because charges are not backing off their offer of ten million per season which represents a roughly twice the salary schedule to make in the final year of his rookie deal they remain at a record you know not wanting to report because he feels like he's valuation is higher than ten million when you have to put that in the context knowing that Todd Gurley right now is what at fourteen point three lay beyond del thirteen one David Johnson at thirteen million my understanding is that the comp that in being out there right now is that David Johnson and Melvin Gordon are similar in terms of how they should be paid and they are definitely still at a gap between those numbers and so right now he's going to stay out until the situation gets resolved nice of Gordon toll charges that if he does not receive a new deal that's acceptable obviously he'll sit out demanded trade he's followed through on both threats Louis Riddick Damien woody Chris Mortensen with insight on how this plays out in if Gordon has any leverage in this hold out he doesn't have the leverage because the charges obviously feels so his replacements is number two or number three players like Austin Meckler Justin Jackson will give them enough of a of a level of production a percentage of production may not equal what number will give them enough to where they have enough other weapons on the field to make up the difference and they're just going to go with the you know one year at a time type of philosophy and if he doesn't like it then they're gonna trade I think he's out on the football team before the regular season starts and hopefully he can find that one suitor who not only is willing to pay a high price to get him but is also willing to pay him long term which is what he's after after lands a former running back and running back coach and the one thing I know by if the land he's very confident that he can find another running back you mention it already the fact that Philip rivers in the last year for the of Joey Bosa is coming up they have players in the pipeline so to think that Melvin Gordon's going to get you know the levy on bail early heard Todd Gurley absolute because are guaranteed a lot of people looking to toggle the contract and is like wool we don't want any part of that so okay Melvin Gordon is in a situation where he's not gonna get paid by the Los Angeles Chargers and more likely he's going to be sued no with another team actually ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details Melvin Gordon's only played one full season out of a source for any is a good back is he an elite back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details but Melvin Gordon's only played one full season of the source for any is a good back is he in the league back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ultimately I think the charges feeling and we talked about this yesterday and make your Damian Moore and and the lens perspective is they do fill like if necessary if gore insanity assigned eventually then you can put them on the market as a team it is the one with the agent do the shopping Eric Williams covers the Chargers for ESPN provided this take on why the charger should find a resolution with Gordon if they have aspirations to make a run in the playoffs he was on Spain and company yeah I mean it's basically a stand off at this point you know Gordon wants to be paid amongst the highest running backs normally he thinks his his statistics over the last couple years point to that he should be pay you know like David Johnson girly let me del the Chargers obviously disagree on that date they are pricey them again according to reports and and I believe they're accurate about ten million per year you mean another structure the contract how much of that is guaranteed how much that is fully guaranteed when he would receive that type of money so those are things that are going on in terms of negotiations to try to get Melvin in the camp I did the things that are promising if both sides want to get a deal done Melvin Gordon wants to play for the charge the Chargers want Melvin Gordon the place so you would think at some point there there would be a compromise that could be made to get Mel in the camp because he remains to be seen you know Melvins representation that told the Chargers that you know that they would demand a trade at the contract demands aren't aren't made the charges are willing to trade him they basically haven't control for the next two to three years due to make five point six million in the following years rookie deal and they get franchise in another couple years no but it is important in terms of where the charge you want to go in the post season they can win games without knowing the crew that last year they want **** when no one was injured the issue is is can they want simple without melon and I think the answer probably is no and so I think that does give me a little bit of leverage yeah well he might want to look Gordon at levy on bell scenario the now jets running back doesn't second guess himself for sitting out last season a decision that cost them fourteen million in salary he did say you wish you could have told fantasy owners some type of way to not draft him or pick him never made it on the field
Melvin Gordon's Agent Requested Trade When Chargers Didn't Change Contract Offer
"Now in the NFL we still have this hold out situation with Melvin Gordon where Melvin Gordon agent now the newest development is we heard that he could request a trade but you're seen Anderson from ESPN is saying that now the agent for Melvin Gordon has asked for a trade the Chargers apparently have offered him ten million dollars per season not good enough for Melvin Gordon like what is this guy I think he's going to get you you're running back that's not even like one of the upper echelon running backs in the league like you're fine but here's the reality of the situation from a running efficiency standpoint the Chargers actually average more yards per carry when you were off the field when you're on it like I just don't understand where Melvin Gordon thinks his leverages in this whole situation maybe it says more about the state of the running back position where he's so desperate to get that contract right because he doesn't know if he's going to get another contract after next one so this is his opportunity Cassian because by the time besides this one the next one is going to be like on the other side of thirty right he's probably never going to get another big contract again so this is opportunity cash and maybe that's part of it because I don't know what he thinks he's got to get they offer you ten million dollars man what type of what do you think you're gonna get what type of what did you think you're going to get on the open market like you're a running back that okay are you pretty good well what team is investing that type of money on you you're not as he kill Elliott right you're not se Kwan Barkley you're not Christian McCaffrey like you're a decent running back you're pretty good running back your top ten guy in the league but nobody's paying that type of player that type of money so I just think that he's delusion alone is thinking that he's going to get this big deal from another team like some other team out there is going to be like oh yeah you know we want to do we want to side Melvin Gordon to a big time long term contract extension okay because we just saw the patriots won the Superbowl with the rookie running back in so to Michelle and James White okay not like they're investing a whole lot of money into those two players in particular right we seen it through the years I'm not a lot of these guys in terms of the big running back contracts are playing in major Superbowl games or major AFC and NFC championship games and here's the thing like you could make this argument for some of the guys were the offense is centered around that right like Zeke is the alpha and the omega of the cowboys offense the whole thing is schemes around Zeke and when six not there we've seen at the team was three and three okay same thing with like Marshawn Lynch back in the day when he was playing with the Seattle Seahawks like the offense was geared around him are also will sit in that read option game right but it was about Marshawn Lynch as a running back dominating the football game and we saw how many damn years it'll take for Seattle to find a replacement and you could argue okay Chris Carson and a nice your but is he really the replacement they've been looking to replace that position for like ever since Marshawn Lynch decided to retire so the offense was built around marshon ledge okay so we've seen it throughout the years when the offense is built around the running back okay maybe those guys have a dispute right like sick one Barkley not that he's gonna have a contract issue right now because in a second year but the office is going to be built around sick one Barkley this year the Chargers offense this works against Melvin Gordon the office is a built around you man the offense is built around a solid passing game with Philip rivers a borderline hall of fame caliber quarterback with now Keenan Allen healthy hunter Henry at healthy Mike Williams like those type of guys the offense is based around the passing game and your part of the equation in the running game but you're not like the main piece of the offense like we've seen with some of these other running backs that have got money over the past couple of years you're not that guy so I don't know what Melvin Gordon thinks he's gonna get this is just the sad reality of where the position is because like I said he's a top ten guy in the league and think about it if he's a top ten receivers get money right and he's a top ten corner he's get money and he's a top ten left tackle these get money and we know if he's a top ten quarterback do get paid but now he's in a position if you're Melvin Gordon your top said running back so yeah yeah I don't know okay now I'm moving on okay Melvin we'll get something for you will trade yeah all right the question is what are the charges
The Ezekiel Elliott Saga Continues
"Lots of drama right now for the Dallas cowboys. Here's the update for Ezekiel Elliott was not on the charter flight with the majority of the team July twenty fifth officially a no show when the time came for mandatory attendance one day later team owner Jerry Jones officially called his two-time rushing champion late and the club went on to place him on the reserve did not report list Zeke was later spotted in Mexico so real simple here right might make a decision pays Zeke or you're GONNA pay DAX. Act Act still got a year left but they don't want him to be no show. He's GonNa be pissed off. How come I'm not getting paid and right now? It looks like Zeke's drawn a line in the sand here with Jerry Jones. How does this thing GonNa play because clearly Jerry's uh-huh pick what you're GONNA pay? He can't pay all these guys. I think Jerry's gotta go to stack and so I wrote this column for the athletic there. Almost if you add his first two years in the League it's more than he did his first two years. I think if I'm Jerry not look I'm not back. I'm not a back. I think you could find back Zeke's not back. He's a game changer. You could take Zeke in line him up outside. The formation in which you can do with Zeke is if you've got say you had another running back would seek a guy that could do some things not great but he kind of H.. Back onto that I would I would do is I would play Zeke and this other back together and I would be with one tight end who could block and I would be in that formation and then from that formation I would utilize Zeke in the passing game lineup in the slot lineup outside force everybody buddy else to do things and then force him to get the ball in space. He should have ten touchdowns. He should average over in receptions. He should ever over average over ten yards a catch. He's a weapon you know and I think I don't think they utilize his skill set. I think they just run them and I think they just do that. I think it's a mistake I think I think you gotta pay the player. I'm not about paying running backs. I'm not I'm not there with Melvin Gordon. I think Melvin Gordon Good player but you know I gotTa Pay Philip Rivers. I you know I I'm paying Zeke because because you know oh my exactly just said the cynics would say do you watch the N._F._l.. Las Vegas. It's a passing league. Pay The quarterback pay the receivers. Pay The left carpet attendance running backs or dime. A dozen doesn't get devalued but you're saying I'd make an exception z because he's the elite of the running back class. I think you're right. If you are going to pay him will utilize him like you said use them in space. Don't just make him a guy. I you know three yards and a cloud of dust kind of

"Maybe he just wants to do with David. Johnson wanted last year. Get some more guaranteed money. David Johnson was a holdout threat in quotes before came to an agreement last season he was in a similar situation as Melvin Gordon. They came came to terms Jason. You certainly don't believe that the chargers are going to open their money bags at all. I'm just I hate dealing with these situations so let me ask you this Jason. 'cause I mean we all have the stance that we aren't drafting Kareem Hunt because we know that he has an game suspension. He won't be back until week ten because the bye week Melvin Gordon takes us the distance <hes> he misses eight games are you. Do you have the same stance I said No. We're not drafting Melvin I would I would still drop it on the board because the giant difference is when Kareem Hunt comes back is how involved is he. Is he the guy it's nick trump. You're having a you know a guy. That's you're going to get in week ten. Who might be a backup running back that you held all year win? Melvin Gordon comes back. He is the Melvin Gordon Star and let's be honest if he misses about four or five games. Maybe that's good for him because he usually misses about four or five games so <hes> then I'll be like oh now he can stay healthy the rest of the do you have a round. This is all new information. So do you have a round where you're where in your head you think yeah. I'll take the risk that I'm GONNA be stashing a running back for eight weeks if well well I mean right now. It's you have to only go on what information we have now so if I was drafting today and I don't know that he's missing eight weeks. I don't think he will miss that much. Maybe four weeks in they work something out. <hes> I would probably be looking Melvin Gordon like man fourth-round but he'll never get to me right yeah right right now for me. Fourth-round is I would. I would just do it because the guy's going in the fourth round assuming that I missed Kerryon Johnson for speaking strictly running backs. They're all shaky. Four hundred backs always are so fourth round I wou I think I would smash Sir on the draft lawyer Melvin Gordon Derrick Henry. You're taking gort yeah. I think I would take Gordon ads this what I would do right now the most optimistic but the news this is not been great posturing on both sides will continue to track it. We're not even into August yet and <hes> couple things to get out there before we get into the rest of the news for clan giveaway DOT COM couple days left signed Pat Mahomes Jersey. "Be N._F._l.. Teams are in training camp but that doesn't mean every player is we've got hold doubts in key spots Saints Michael Thomas Chargers Melvin Gordon who else Yana can gakugei Jacksonville Trent Williams in Washington and of course Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas the big one big name that everyone's watching out there in oxnard California all guys that <hes> are heading into either the final year of their deal or wants some sort of adjustment on their contract before camp or the season starts so we gotta go through all these the person who helps us make sense of all this stuff is our own Adam schefter so Adam Una make this pretty simple. I will give you a name and you tell us the latest on that player. Start with Ezekiel Elliott of of the cowboys will Zeke Elliott has not shown up in Oxnard California side of the Dallas Cowboys training camp and they're going through physical today. They are basically supposed to be attending a team meeting and there's no sign of Zeke right now which tells you soup that it looks like at the very least Zeke Watch is underway and it certainly feels like this is going to be a hold out while the two sides tried to see if they can come up with a new deal for Zeke Elliott but no signs of him California this yet and no signs as of November by the chargers camp right now then this one is going to go on for a while the two sides basically have their own stances. There have differing pains. Nobody Gordon's value. I don't see this getting south anytime this summer I I think this one looks like it has a real chance to go into the regular season. It's time for Austin Ecuador and Justin Jackson and no Michael Thomas in New Orleans still you take the reading receiver off that team. The saints have offered to make them the highest a wide receiver receiver in football. It sounds like he wants to get to a very high threshold north of twenty million dollars a year. We'll see what they can get there where the saints a willing to budge but Michael Thomas wants to become not just a highest eight wide receiver in football but the highest paid wide receiver football by a long shot right now while we wait for Julio Jones deal to potentially come in later this summer Adam sit tight we we'll come back to you as as needed. We're going to go back and talk about Ezekiel Elliott though how important is even to the cowboys he's led the N._F._l.. Rushing yards per game in each of his first three seasons the only other players to do that in the ninety nine year history of the N._F._l.. or Jim Brown and Earl Campbell perhaps you've heard of them. Both of those guys are in the hall of fame name safe to say that few running backs have ever had a better start to their careers then has Ezekiel Elliott

"Well teams are reporting to their training camp down the National Football League Ezekiel Elliott not on the cowboys plane heading out here to Oxnard in southern California for their training camp although no he wasn't a voluntary work out and he was at the mandatory minicamp so he has until tomorrow Friday to show up without getting fine but death you know there's been a buzz he's not happy with this contract he wants and read to go he wants that an extension for big money Melvin Gordon not reporting the Chargers camp for the same reason you know and seek is a well only making like for this year and Melvin Gordon five point six and it's amazing how underpaid NFL superstar players are compared to foot to basketball I'm a basketball and baseball and of course as I said earlier in the show I think they only have themselves to blame for a week union bad negotiators terrible ago shattering Tamara Smith and way too much power authority to the orders given away in the collective bargaining deals by these players they gave Roger Goodell too much authority into much power today been clowning Houston Texans evidently not in in not not there in camp for the first day because no they didn't come to a contractor agreement so now other talking about a franchise tag of either nineteen or seventeen depending on whether he's considered a a defensive end or linebacker and they need to work that out negotiate something somehow maybe on bell souls up he's playing for the jets this year but he's taking less he gave up nineteen million last year and then sighed sitting the around the sun for less money with the judge and the Steelers are offered and Todd Gurley that massive contract he signed I think it was what a hundred and fifty seven million last year with twenty one million voters and another twenty guaranteed and then it looks like he might have an arthritic knee here which could be bad bad news for the Los Angeles rams the statement that is we show here and as we need to wait on this medicine radio

"N._F._l.. Holdouts used to be a big thing but changes in the collective bargaining agreement minimize the issue and now there seems to be one position that creates the most drama over the summer running back of course we had on bell all the entire season last year with the steelers reports now the chargers star Melvin Gordon not reporting to camp without a new contract. Mike Florio profootballtalk had the exclusive report that the cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott considering holding out felt tricky spot running backs get the ball they get the glory not the way they used to but teams view them as more dispensable than they ever have. It's strange because you do rely on them. Some teams over rely rely on a running back other teams. It's running backs by committee. Look at the New England patriots but the wear and tear a lot of these teams look at running backs the way I would if I'm taking you in the first round. I'm going to US you up for five years you. I want that next contract and you probably earned the next contract but I've moved onto the next running back. Melvin Gordon's a good player Zeke Elliott's a great player if teams are hesitant about paying them. I'm not sure Lesser Sir running backs will have a chance to get paid in today's N._F._l.. We always feel like all you can get an Alvin Kamara. Well Yeah you can but then look at all the teams that passed on Alvin Kamara before the saints took it also have Aftab good people who can recognize talent and maybe you can get a bargain. It's easy to go. Hey saquon Barkley looks like a pretty good running back Christian McCaffrey but then we have those running backs that slipped through the cracks Terrell Davis but was the fifth sixth round pick went into the hall of Fame Ezekiel. Elliott is going to get paid but I also look at the cowboys situation as different than Melvin Gordon Melvin Gordon says hey you know what I want to be here but if you don't WanNa pay me then I'm going to sit out okay sometimes when you sit out you realize as we found out with the rams when Todd Gurley sat out and all of a sudden you bring in running back off scrap-heap that nobody else wanted and he's running for for one hundred yards. You gotta be careful because the cowboys have a great offensive line right considered the number one or two best offensive lines in football. I think that's fair assumption. You get somebody else in there. All of a sudden they start to you know crack open one hundred twenty five yards per game and then all of a sudden go all right. You know we found out what the steelers James Connor as much as I love Latvian Bell steelers don't miss you if you look at the value God for James Connor over the the amount of money you were gonNA have to spend on lady on Bell steelers will take that any day got. A bargain got a bargain for the next couple of years now he is he later on bell. No can I use that money elsewhere. He's five years younger for years younger than lady on bill and that's another thing with the cowboys. You'RE GONNA pay Dak Prescott you gave up a first-round round. Pick for Amari Cooper. Get up to pay him and you're going to have to pay Ezekiel Elliott. This is the this might be the best year for the Dallas Cowboys to win the Super Bowl. Yeah might be breaking news there Paulie. I'll take Wednesday Tuesday. What is it adds? It's Wednesday yeah Gal foggy when you said cowboys take check-check. Oh I know we tend to over eight the cowboys every single year but if you're looking at where Dak Act Prescott is he gets paid..

"Geico could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Welcome back the N._F._l.. chargers star running back once new money or no football is entering the fifth year of his rookie deal worth up to five point six million dollars just over that it is so as borden presses down on the charges are Adam Shepherd all over this story and now we have the latest referendum on the value of a running back in the N._F._l.. Melvin Gordon believes that he deserves to be paid amongst the highest paid running backs in the game right there with Todd Gurley and David Johnson and Levian bell the chargers believe that they are willing to pay Melvin Gordon but up to a certain limit. They think that he is import in their locker room. He is valued on the football field but they've assigned a price that is way different than the one that Melvin Gordon has of himself right now and so that's the standoff as we speak and as we get ready for training camp to open in the next ten days it's up to both sides to try to figure out a way to bridge their differences and see if they can resolve them if they can't Melvin Gordon won't be training camp and he will be demanding a trait and that will open up the other the question of what markets teams make sense for Melvin Gordon to wind up at but these two sides now must figure out a solution to what is a headache and really the latest referendum on the value of an N._F._l.. Running Back Adam thank you very much as we speak on holding out from football we have puzzle piece number one to a late-season role on corey been on this one per minute Darlington Robbie confirmed at Tom. Brady reached out to run routes this off season which rob said Hell yes could be with the boys could be clue one for a shot at Super Bowl number four who knows the workout. How does it change? "Willing to take care of our guys. I we'RE NOT GONNA go. Try to find another guy. It speaks volumes in the locker room because guys realize we're all one play away from not being able to do this anymore. So there's an expectation though that when you do it and you were productive and you you're the guy or a guy on the team who is continuing to put it on the line you want to be taken care of to less goes not gonNA miss that he gets it but maybe their philosophy is. They don't need to pay a guy period playing the running back due process of the N._F._l.. Why are they? Why are they right or wrong? They're willing to pay him five point six. We know that I mean they picked up the option so it's five point six so I think I think they're willing to pay again. It's just a matter of getting to the number and in terms of the dollars and cents is a couple of Quirky facts about the fifth year option that might help people understand todd girlies fifth year option was going to be nine point six million dollars because he was a top ten pick right. If you're not a top ten pick the fifth year option price even at the same position dropped significantly so that's a tough break for Melvin Gordon been picked outside the it's not his fault well. It's not you know that's not up to him and then the other thing you have to understand is in terms of the numbers that's going to factor into Gordon's leverage. The girlie might have been able to demand more. I think if you're if you're Gordon and Gordon's agent you're going going in looking for girly money and you're probably willing to take the David Johnson money and that kind of structure which very good structure paid a fair amount of guaranteed money early on so there's something to get to again. The question is when it's only the chargers can answer what's their stopping point of running back and this is a special player. They've said they want to extend him but what what's the number of the past and if that number exists then it could be a major issue. Let's let's get Adam schefter back. You gotta be still sitting over. It has all of his closet whatever it is. Let's get a pay packet out of break this down. Make a little sense of all. This refused even try to tee up. Do Your thing we'll Jack again. Let's keep in mind that Melvin Gordon is one of the most popular and respected players in that locker room that everybody's watching that situation and how it unfolds bullets also keep in mind this the chargers hey coach. Anthony Win is a former N._F._l.. Running back he's done a great job of grooming running backs throughout his entire career and he loves nobody board and thinks nobody gourd is a stood running back and should be compensated but that gets us back to your initial point the chargers have a certain value that they'd plays annulling Gordon and building and his agents Fletcher Smith and Damaris Bill have a different value that they've beside him and so Anthony Lynn has made his living in the N._F._l.. Whether it's in Cleveland or New York with the jets or with the chargers at developing other running backs so the chargers know that they really want to get this deal done with Melvin going but if they can't that somehow they'll count an Anthony Wayne to develop some of these other good young running backs that they have in their organization won't be as Melvin Gordon won't be the same but that's what the chargers now have to wrestle with Coatesville. Adam just stays as they right there in the office. We may come back bill and to keep that's all go back to N._F._l.. Live we all fifty six days away from packers bears kicking us into the hundred season of N._F._l.. Onto that were opened up the volt that man right there Lawrence Taylor baby live some of the greatest Lawrence Taylor moments through the years nineteen eighty-four we begin giants chiefs. Jim Arlene achieves going to drop the snap and look lt go with a shark field goal attempt right so he's like slow-motion though it makes it a little grace number five nineteen eighty-one this is giants. It's cardinals. Neil lomax dropped back to get a ball up in the air over there on the left side. You better sit help. I could tell you that I don't care WHO's trying to block the one you health that way ages. That is a bad man who was coming. Downhill.

"Guys that didn't right hold this against note with Gordon. I think is ridiculous and the chargers. We'll try to do it but that's an absurd use of negotiating. The charges will try to do it and negotiating leverage. This is what this is what all this is charges will say hey no. You can't have that Girlie girlie. That's a bad investment and Gordon will say you know my five point. Six is too alive so it's all they want him back and he wants to stay. There's a number they can get to that had that's important for people who are watching to understand but if they don't if there's a number beyond which the chargers won't go for running back no matter who you are and he wants more than that then. I think that's where it gets and we don't have those numbers. We've got one thing when you hear Melvin side saying that it was insulting offer. We don't know what the numbers were. We don't know if he's asking for you know to be the highest paid running back ever July eleventh. It's almost all right. Let's wash it back in the man who's been all over this story one time back in because he was all over this you gotta remember that he was a first round picks that fifth year option now exists. Let's get schefter back in so how did we get here at simplest forms. How do you think we got your Adam with Gordon? We'll we'll jack very simply. Melvin Gordon knows that he's headed into that fifth year option at five point six million dollars. He's been angling for a new deal this off season and the talks with Melvin Gordon's agents Fletcher Smith and Damaris Bilbo did not go the way played that the Melvin Gordon camp had hoped and because the talks went on for as long as they did and didn't produce anything the Melvin Gordon camp felt it was imperative to make public solit- everybody knowing advanced training camp that they're not going to training camp without a new contract which at this point time Jack he's not on the horizon and if there's no new deal than building board is going to ask to be treated now again. We bring up that fifth year option and it's interesting because the N._F._l.. And the N._F._l.. Players Association are now getting into talks over new collective bargaining agreement and I think the one thing that the players side has to get in the next round of talks is a deal without a fifth year player option which again works against building board in this particular case because otherwise otherwise he would be a free agent and might have had the chance to be paid look he wants to be paid right now. Along the lines of Todd Gurley or David Johnson or Levian bell the charges you two different way they view it looks we value him and we want to pay him and we've made him offers but we had not made him an offer that basically makes him happy and puts him into the category that he wants to be put in and it's up to both sides really to figure out a way to bridge their differences differences in the remaining days before training camp war as jeff Saturday nose into the first couple of weeks of training camp so that they could get Melvin Gordon because if he's not there whether or not you agree with his stance whether or not you agree with the team stance that's going to impact packed the other players in the locker room and how they view the organization so it's up to all sides to figure out a way to get this done or if they can't get it done to move onto trade partner for Melvin Gordon who obviously is determined to land that long-term term deal now that puts him more along the lines of the top running backs in the League shefty awesome stuff. We really appreciate all that so let's get to this rivers turns thirty eight years old this year that is a little bit older. Maybe not quite as old as it used to be. quarterback terms yes but how important is it to have Gordon so that they can capitalize on the super bowl window on his huge. I mean I honestly think that it should impact. I mean you have to be so so delivered about this. If you're TOSCO general manager doesn't want to put conditions ends on when he signs a guy and why but when you look at the situation that.

West warmer first round pick now wondering not fifty or option of his rookie deal. He is looking for a big payday or things may get interesting worth mentioning Gordon skipped most of the off season but data tan mandatory minicamps as we do just about everything gets interesting. Let's welcome at Adam Schefter so by phone Adam you wrote this store. You've been all over at what is going on right now. With Melvin Gordon Well Jack this is really a nother and the latest referendum on the value of running backs because the chargers Melvin Gordon have negotiated negotiated to try to get a new deal done but are nowhere close to reaching an agreement at this point in time and because they're so far park because they value Melvin Gordon in different ways Melvin Gordon decided to take the steps and make it public today that he's not going to training camp without a new contract and if he doesn't have that new contract that he's going to demand a trade to another team so let your imagination run wild begin to picture which teams would would be interested in making a play Melvin Gordon imagine what the chargers Backfield and offense would look like without loathing Gordon but that really gets past the initial foundational issue which is can they get inside to a new contract..

"Six years in a row, if you don't have a by you don't go to the Super Bowl is that. Now is that the conversation as you guys walk out of the chargers locker room into the off season next year? We gotta get. We want to stay home is not as we want to stay home. That's that's the the main thing we get that by. We know we went on out. We we have home field advantage. And I think that plays a part because we had to travel to Baltimore we had to come back. Then we have to travel to new Inc. Like that. That takes a toll on you, man. So we rather get that by week that I see we don't have to worry about. None that flying people that have come to us while I couple of questions about that. I was going to ask you, what is worse alternately the travel or being in LA getting used to? And in fact, I was talking about that in the run-up to the Foxborough game when they were saying it's going to be really cold there. I said one everybody keeps saying, oh, the chargers are warm weather city. I give saying not their runners, man. Justin Jackson and Melvin Gordon are big ten guys. They they are no strangers to that. What makes you more the cold or the travel the travel the code doesn't bother? It wasn't code in New England. I I'm used to that. We got heated seats in Wisconsin. We never disease we had. To Stanford or blue or so haven't he sees his dynamite for me? So it was more to travel. Honestly, traveling there is this join him in as far as the home field advantage that you mentioned it's something a lot of people talk about what what's it like being in the stadium. When it's generally is is every game. Basically like a fifty fifty kind of thing every game was more like a fifty fifty. But that last one we play was like seventy thirty almost eighty twenty chargers fans. And that's why I wish we would have had you know, we would have beat Baltimore. And we'd have been able to get that. I see. 'cause that's I was like, okay. If we could bring this to the play offs. If you guys come support supporters like this. That'd be done my first. Yeah. That would be cool. And then again in just a little while you're going to be in the new digs there. And you've been talking about that a little bit that you don't want the Rams to win for obvious reasons. Do you are you getting any heat or is it not any re-? You're not getting any. Real grief from anybody just gave me a little heat. But I mean, it is what it is. You call me a hater. It is what it is. I don't like any team. Honestly, I like the patriots. Neither is. But you know, I like the patriots a little more than I liked to ramp. So that's just what it because they're your neighbor. I never understood these people who are you one of these guys who when it comes to the big ten people always I root against Michigan, and Wisconsin and Ohio State and everybody else when they're playing in a bowl game or otherwise. And people say but DOJ good for the what do I care? That's I don't wanna see my neighbor do. Well, they they bullied my team around. I went to Indiana. I don't wanna see I don't want to see you guys go on. And do I wanna see you lose? Just the way you made us lose during the season. Right. It will Missouri at we'd beat most of the team. So advocate who is. But I do like in that says I do like I'm different because I do like in the big ten win in the boat when facing SEC because I hate this see as they talk about. So I like when the big ten, but you know, we usually kind of lose Wisconsin. While state, how do you? I'm one thing that is one of the many differences between pro football players. And and loser Dave is not just the physical ability, but you have a different level of of confidence..

"They really are the best really well the the best ram route. No that the best who calling Rams games. All right on challenged. All right. If the Rams and the chargers were both in the Super Bowl as I forecast in the preseason, I came one hundred and twenty minutes shy of that prediction coming to pass while. I mean, I got like halfway there anyhow which which radio team. Would you listen to? I would watch the TV brokos could be too tough for me shoes. Or I'd go to the stadium and watch it ama- said that she would listen to to DJ and money. An money have quite a pretty tight. Yeah. Eddie said that he would listen to Murray's because money is always teasing him. So I guess it's a draw. All right. We have a lot of good stuff coming up for you. Including like, I already told you Melvin Gordon. Oh, MAURICE makes a special appearance and that one too. He doesn't like the Melvin Gordon is rooting for the Rams. Why would Melvin Gordon Rams look? Handsome devil. Look at Dan. Haley. I don't to get your makeup on me down. But yeah, let's high. Heli L saw the must-win game stuff. He he enjoyed it. Right. I did I tweet it out. I hurt. You. Did you see that? Yeah. A little over the top. But now, I do I love him. Early entertaining. Can I tell you something else? Halley? Did you see I want to while we're patting me on the back or while? I'm patting me on the back. I want to tell you I want to make sure the world understands the Wade Phillips dressing like his father bum. I've been that's a campaign. I've been on personally for three months now. And it was it was just heaven to see him go out there dressed like his father coming off the airplane. And while it might seem like a little bit of a joke to be. I mean, it's something fun about it. But it actually meant something the way to pay Omayad his father. So he was sincere any thanked me there. I don't care if the world knows it actually. But now, I've just made the world aware of it. That was a great. You really do care if the world knows? Yeah. Really? I know. But yeah, you're right. I do and I wasn't really cool thing. But to be fair you were wanting him to wear the gear on the sideline. Yes. But I go again. Nate doesn't live in reality. That's true. Well, guess what you know who also lives in that in that phone Antonio Brown. Kev. Okay. I don't disagree. Off Kevin demo off said that he actually contacted Nike to see if they could put a Swoosh on a hat and on the jacket. So that he could wear it on the sideline. And like you said they could not so Nike said they couldn't do that. Isn't that fumble on like, maybe they'll meet about it in the off season and figure something out, anyhow, how are you? Dan, Halley couldn't be better doing the show right next to you guys today with Michael Robinson, Tiffany men. Stop by Mike garafolo from our fine stable of reporters going to be here as well. And of course, he's going into free agency coming off that tornadoes CEO, so his values gonna drop a little bit. But I think somebody could get a really good deal. "Not everybody. Night recap bit at the twelve author just around the four will we have delve important. I feel very deflated he'd Cummings played by this. Yeah. It's not a good thing and less. You are somebody who owns awesome Ecuador and not Nova Gordon you just game to top twenty running back for the next few weeks. Yeah. I mean is that too low top twenty. I don't it's really tough to say because there will be a split. He's not going to get a Melvin Gordon workload. We even thought in the second half today with Jackson getting some of the work. But you know, what he got all the work and the Tennessee game. And that didn't go very well. Very good. I mean, you got you gotta figure Jackson getting some work because they were you know, they spin the game they were killing them. Yeah. I would I would guess he's going to get fifty percent of the Carey's and most of the work today. He got he got four fewer carries Jackson a day even during the third quarter. I hope you're on. But you could be right. Okay. Yeah. So first of all, it's an MCAS brain. Could be a couple of weeks. Does it doesn't mean? Melvin Gordon snot out for the season or anything. Do they play the chiefs three weeks? I believe their next three games are at Pittsburgh home against Cincinnati at Kansas City. I would be surprised if he is back before the Kansas City. I mean, it just BS man because like. You got your fantasy playoffs. Melvin Gordon has taken you there and his first two matchups in the fantasy playoffs are the Bengals. And the chiefs you're gonna we gonna get to the championship on the back of Melvin Gordon. This is a while. You're not. But you know, what it was good the waiver wire pickups. Good. You know, we had a feeling that it was it was going to be a good week for waiver wiring and Lamar Jackson James Winston were good. I don't know. We should say great. Lamar Jackson is not going to be a top twelve quarterback. Mainly six point proprietor Stanley point. He probably will be. But yeah, what do you think about those going forward? Jackson, not officially named the starter going forward to mention that. But we're hopeful Jackson a Winston, I will say Winston was great. He was actually maybe for the first time all season better in real life than he wasn't fantasy. Didn't turn the ball over completed a high percentage of his passes. Winston played a very good football game. Jackson. The second half was what I was hoping for and expected from the Margetts. And I don't know what the hell they were doing in the first half way through sixteen passes. And he ran the ball twice. If if that had continued through the game I'd have been telling everyone, I'm sorry drop. Lamar jackson. He's useless. Because he's. Not any good. If that's the plan. But he can't I don't think it's difficult because I don't like saying he can't throw the ball because he makes throws that makes it very clear that he can throw the ball. He has the ability to make NFL throws. He's struggling with the consistency right now, which which I think would probably get better with more experience. And hopefully, he'll get that experience at Atlanta next week. Meanwhile, the waiver bag waiver wire running backs were pretty much exactly what we hope for. Gus. That words he's eighty two percent on twenty three carries one hundred eighteen yards. Alex Collins was inactive Josh Adam seventy nine percent owned. They were both started at about fifty percent leaks Edwards a little bit more than Adams Adams that twenty two carries eighty four yards and a touchdown. Any at a two point conversion so good stuff from both of them. And do you trust both Edwards and Adams season? I do I like you look at them stat line it selling him a little bit short. A fifty two yard touchdown. That was called a stupid holding penalty hundred and thirty yards to touch downs. I trust both these guys I like Edwards more in non PR. I like atoms just a little bit more NPR. He didn't do as much in the passing game in this game. But I still think he has a better opportunity to catch passes Edwards does part of me still a little sick..
