"Fucking porpoises. Talked about in a very sweet. Very sweet way and so ben was like just kind of what i thought i was going to be. This is your parents. I look at effort. That's fantastic and he was just horrified. Native i mean they laugh but it's would they ever to repeat that in front of them or but he was just dying in like things i did. There was a key just kind of go to the lobby after the seat in there like now. It's fine oh my like you said some things that i was like. Oh mom mom. Yeah i i did a show years ago in chicago state show and one of the parts of the state show and i did it with robert smiling bob. Odin kirk and a bunch of other performers and. We did the sketch that we weren't able to get on saturday night. Live at later on down alive and it was about a new camp a nudist camp. And the whole idea was it starts with I think it started with Two people out there and Roberts michael and another performer. Everything's strategically covered. They look naked but it. Because it's a live show. They're just they're holding things that are covering genitalia and then the one guy saying don't worry about it. He's like well. It's my first time. You quickly forget that you're naked. It's not a big thing you get over it and and it's the most natural thing in the world and then you're just talking about kinds of stuff and he was like really and he's like yeah. Trust me it's going to be fine. And then i would enter and i've got a guitar. That's covering me and i go. Hey jack hey bill. This is my friend steve. Oh hey steve. Hey.

"Me too. I don't care that. Show conan that joe kid just killed seven people. I don't care. I don't get very well. My name is any kyun kyun in. How much of this do you think comes from the fact that you raised on a farm in illinois. I mean it's such a cliche. But and i'm not a. I'm not saying that you were out there driving a tractor around but there is. There's a good heartedness that i associate with. I don't know if that's fair or just Terrible cliche a good heartedness it comes with midwest midwest values. Don't be to mean. Is that thing. I think that's i think that's fair. At least i can say it's fair in the sense that that's who my parents are parents are like am you i to me. It seems like when you look like if you had to get a standard like in stock footage picture image of midwestern parents like mike and sandy or sitting there going like good for you just both kind of carved out of marzipan in a sweet and really hard working. I don't know if it's the mid west but it certainly. I get whatever that is from them. Have you had this because in your commun- in your work you're occasionally going to do stuff that you would never do in front of your parents in a million years. This is what i've had my like my mom's Like i remember maybe twice in my life my mom really like the it just. I don't know what i was doing but it was like i was. I was a jerk. But i remember her wants her big swear she was and i was like holy shit. She's through the roof like her so we don't swear there's no body i mean rally sees more stuff now but it's still not like i never really worked blue. I think people think. Because i i've sworn a lot movies but that was really the character that right right like your separate. Yeah you have the protection of. I don't walk around like that right. But it's interesting to me that you can have the level of success that you've had and consistent success and then until today this is where it all ends. Trust me.

"That's my we're building five g. rotten. That's why there's only what best network bryson best and most reliable based on route metrics report. Second half twenty thirteen to first half twenty one. Three operators on on that were types combined not specific. Divide gina perks. You had success. You had you had proven yourself. Then bridesmaids comes along. And it's the change for you which i thought was really lovely because it was deserved by moving. Probably seen fifteen times and i think my wife is seen forty five minutes and Whenever we encounter that movie wherever we find it. And whatever we're doing we stop and we watch until the movie's over but your character is absurd but also and i. I don't know if i should credit this to your acting training because you you know. I now know that you spent many years but its commitment. I say almost all parts. I've played for the most part i really have like. I loved them. Like i fall in love with with who they are and so i just tried to do the best job of like. They are funny but they're funny. Because i always. I think we fall in love with people in the world because of our ticks and weirdnesses and eccentricities. I don't somebody like i love. Them has the perfect a never say the wrong thing. They never. i'd be like. Oh it'd be so i think of bannon. I'm mike worse so weird so incredibly weird that when i play people i think sometimes they're like oh you're making fun of that type of woman. I'm like no that's the woman that fascinates me that same. I can't take my eyes off of because eccentric people to me are the ones that like. If you're in a store and there's just somebody that's like yemen all purple. You see the party. That's literally like i get love. God i'm not making fun of them. I'm literally like you are living right because you don't give a shit what anybody else thinks that you. You're not hurting.

"I think there's a meanness in that that bumps it bums the is an audience member and i think it bumps not everybody because but i i think bumps a lot of people in even if they laugh like you know we make our movies and you do the screenings. You wanna see what works because so often like the joke. That's it always happens at one. That i'm like yes. It's too long. I didn't pull it together. But i swear it's like this is the one in audiences can sit there and then it's the different ones really hits. You gotta kind of. There's an alchemy to finding out. Not just what you like. But with the what works at the audience. And you know even if something is more mean-spirited like you see people laugh. But i swear i can tell that they're like like it's that i i'm going to have to even let me kind of on the getting laugh because you've made people uncomfortable not to laugh laugh. I want. i'll take any laugh. I can get.

"Frugal. This is tearing her family apart like two big bags and containers when the kids were going through. Everything was there making slime layer. Yeah but yeah. I love that. Ac go there. And just and i love because there is a commitment. Those people are like. Yeah this what it is this is. I lived like this. Because i wanted so like if i can ever get that into a it's really a. It's a love letter to people that don't give a shit what other people think of them. In good way. I loved Bringing up ben. Ben is your husband and limited the graham links and you met at the groundlings and it was so funny because the first time i saw bridesmaids you to have that amazing scene where. He's an undercover. Tsa agent and you're guessing. He's an undercover tsa agent and questioning and wanted to know his gun is saying it is in your butts. And he's like what. And i was watching it. And it's just as a fan of great improv. I could tell ya. I think some of this is scripted but also some of this really feels like you to know each other and you tour in pocket where you're really comfortable and you got your both going for it. You're going forward and having a good time. And that's i mean that's one of my favorite scenes in it. And then i love the reveal that yes he has and you knew it all along when we think your character is just completely on the wrong track. I know i was like. That's a great button to that weird. We did there. They kristen anti wrote such an amazing Script but it's like what was great is them an puffy like when we do it once or like we've got that like say what like now go and especially all of those like christian anywh like we were all the only exception was ellie kemper and rose otherwise we were from the groundlings. Like we didn't think anybody was going to think that was funny. Where like what. We're doing this weird thing that we do for free while actually we pay for it because byron wigs and stuff and we had no idea what it was funny to us but we figured might getting to make this movie which seemed crazy but we never. We didn't really know it was gonna connect with anyone. It's just what we were. We'd been doing this little tiny theater on melrose avenue and it was so fun because they would. We were so used to each other that they would. Yeah there's some innings meetings said that's where comedy and music are really the same. They're different forms of the same thing. And i i can't. I can't describe what that thing is but they're both Be on the beat with someone. Yeah you're on the b and you know your craft and you know your instrument and then there's complete trust and those are all a lot of ifs. That's a lot of gifts but if you can get all those things together and i think the greatest gift in this life next to you know partner and kids. The greatest gift is if you can do something that you would do anyway with your friends for fun and then someone says great job. Here's your check. You go what i wish you paid me and also so many of the things that i've done in my life that have given that i hear about the most are things that i never thought anybody would like. I bet i've talked about that before. Like we would still be making. We're i mean we still do make weird videos and it's like we've the fact that it's now our job when we're doing something like especially if it's like if amendments of us doing something very strange. I was like abandoned. I'm like i am being most professional at this moment. And he's like yes. This is what you're assigned. Profession is as an amid like waiters in lake gravy river. Or something. I just i love what it's like the odds of it but yeah i would have done it. I don't think i ever would have stopped doing. Even if i would have gone a different way with my career and it hasn't worked out. It's just me. Because i and i honestly don't know the answer to this and so i'm i'm just very curious that you've been on. Snl so many times been so great at it and seemed like it'd be a natural cast membranous and l. Is that something that you pursued. That just seem like it wasn't a possibility. No that was like the holy grail. The thing i mean th there's a funny thing going into improv because an in the amount of work that goes in. It's you know you're doing especially when you're sunday company at least at groundlings you're doing a new show every week. I mean that's just crazy when you're still working to other full-time jobs. You're not getting paid for this all on the side and really you're like you've got two shots. You have mike one. You've already picked some type of performance. So you've already narrowed your slice of the pie down really small. Then you're like wait a minute. I don't want all acting in. Just want sketch comedy improvising. So then you're looking at. Snl mad tv. She's literally like all these people come together. And we've you know it's it's a very bad plan. But i think if you love it you can't help it. Did you audition no. I did almost every. I rarely rarely ever took a show off from groundlings Early run did almost every run. I'm like i'm here. i love it. I'll do everyone. They come usually. Snl would always come once a year every single time. I was at groundlings. Eleven years every single time. We're on mike. I'm gonna miss one show after work. Argosy my folks. And i'm gonna miss one show there like as an game. Nothing i would have. But i just never i would have. It would have been amazing. it's home. Yeah but it's interesting. How somehow the universe sought to it. That you've hosted. Snl how many times five. I six six. Okay that's including the for the fortieth. I think it ethics with that. Yeah which is like it's insane. I i walk through their Their stages so tiny. You can't believe how tiny that stage they just moved things in and out new. You're literally elbow to elbow is almost giving it too much space. And the first time we were just passing through it someone was going to show me something else and i realized that's the stage and that's where the band plays and i i just stood there and berserk crying and they were like sorry. Were pretty used to it. So we just fling people by here and i was like i just absolutely like locked up and i just couldn't believe i was standing there was there was really weird. Used to sneak down and watch. Snl when i was a kid we are not allowed to I think if it was like pass bed When i was really little. I wasn't and then we would watch it but it was up late for us so i would. I watched the one way or the other. Yeah i Grew up. I think i would have been just turned to be able to stay up like honest watch it. Oh of course. I watched it and i was. I knew that my dad really liked comedy and had kind of a discerning eye for comedy. Is your sense of humor like you dance. I think so. I like a lot of the same things and my mom also has a good sense of humor. But i like the absurd and i think my father always used to take me to pink panther movies with peter sellers on again back to that same theme. Peter sellars as crusoe completely committed and completely unaware It never mind that. He's a fool..

"This month. Alexa is going to sound a little bit. Different on july fifteenth the tech giant rolled out an update to its digital voice assistant to include a second voice option. As you know amazon's assistant typically has like a feminine sounding voice with this update. You can change that to a more masculine voice setting this all up his quite simple. You just say the assistant's name followed by quote. Change your voice and quote but that's not all there's an additional wake word you can use in place of alexa. That new word is ziggy Basically it works the same way instead of saying the primary name of amazon's digital assistant You can say ziggy instead. If you're a fan of gigi and you've never tried to swap out the wake word and you kind of want to try it out. Anyway you have some other choices to You can use amazon. You can use echo or you can use computer And the way to do this is really simple. Just like with the change. Your voice option. You can make a query to the assistant and say change the wake word to whatever you want Another way to do this too is open up the app for the voice assistant go to the menu. Select your settings than device settings. Then you go to the device that you want to update with this new wake word and then you choose the when you want and that's it now if you don't want either of these options for voices you can actually add a little bit of celebrity flare After introducing an option awhile. Back to add actor. Samuel jackson's voice to queries amazon is much similar offerings featuring actress melissa mccarthy an nba legend shaquille. O'neal so the way it works is you kind of ask them directly as you would amazon's digital assistance. You might say hey shack. Tell me about the weather. Hey samuel Tell me about the news today. And it works exactly the same way and they will read everything in

"David are you familiar with zell and you tell me what you think it is. It's a where you can share money. Yeah they're an up. Yes it's fantastic. It's a great way to send money straight to family and friends bank accounts and you know in my day and this is really back in the day. If you wanted to share money you did it the way a grandmother. Did you know you like stuff. Some cash in an envelope with a hallmark card and sent it out through the mail. Zell is the future. It's a great way to send money straight to family and friends. Bank accounts no matter where they bank in the us right from your banking app. That's great yeah. It is a very useful. One of the best parts about zell is it. It's already in over a thousand different banking apps which means it's most likely in.

"You of the pleasure of chatting with a couple of long time pals. Listen. McCarthy, who hails from the Plainfield area, starting bridesmaids, and ah, number of really funny movies and actually also gave us a great dramatic turn in Ah movie a couple of years ago. Was nominated for an Academy Award. Octavia Spencer, You know from the movie help, as well as a number of other motion pictures, she actually won the Academy Award for best. Supporting actress the year that the help came out. She and Melissa McCarthy are best friends. They are longtime best friends in real life. And for the first time Collaborated on a brand new movie that is called Thunder Force. It's kind of Ah SciFi superhero spoof. I guess you might say comedy. About 2 40 something longtime friends. Childhood friends get together again later in life. One of them is very successful. One of them is, you know Melissa's character is, you know, down on her luck and always failing, and everything that she does comes to her friend for some help and discovers that her friend had developed a serum. Which gives people extraordinary powers she accidentally gets injected with this serum and winds up with extraordinary powers s O. They both wind up. With extraordinary powers and take on the take on the task of reading the their city of crime happens to be the city of Chicago, which you know, normally, I would be very happy to see the city of Chicago in a film. But what they did was they came into the city. They shot some exteriors of the buildings and you know some of the outside scenes. But they did not shoot most of the movie here, so ah, lot of the movie that they're pretending is Chicago clearly is not you see the skyline. You see the You know some of the buildings and things like that, but that's

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar

"Me to talk about barbara star. Is rachel sign a staff writer for the new yorker. Hey rachel her so thanks for joining me for this one. I really was excited to talk about this one with you because you wrote something about it a little view in appreciation of it for the new yorker that i really love and i felt really tapped into some of the things that are special about this movie. I'm going to read a tiny bit of it back to you. Maybe that can inspire conversation so this comes early in what you're writing about it when you talk about the transition from what i would think of as the setup the first twenty minutes or so where we beat barbara starr in their hometown of soft rot nebraska and how it then it then transitions to town of title of vista del. Mar in florida. And so you're right. There solid jokes from the get-go but it's not clear right away. What the movie is up to our. Wigan molo denizens of los angeles where they first met as part of the l. Sketch comedy troupe. The groundlings taking the piss out of flyover over forties then skipping ahead of bit is talking about the the that transition you say but as barbara starr unfolds. It's quirky heroines fuel. Less and less like stand ins for certain kind of tj maxx shopper. Instead the film goes for something far more specific and silly loving often lovely. Where so many comedies are either retreads old ideas or feel designed by committee to hit newsy talking points. Barbara starr is the rare film. That feels sue generous in both conceit an execution barbara starr or such finely drawn characters that they could be nobody else but themselves so that really spoke to me and exactly what i love about this movie and this was going to frame it to you. Is that this movie gets compared a lot to bridesmaids which of course was written by the the co writers and co stars of this movie and malone christian wig and another movie that sprung to mind was spy which is this wild sort of a spoof of james bond films. That's also a female friendship bonding movie with incredible performances by melissa mccarthy and rose byrne i love both bridesmaids an spy but i found this movie far more original than either one and in a way more exciting i mean i can see why bridesmaids changed comedy history. It's an important movie. it's still a very funny movie. But this sui generis quality that you point to i think is is so much more vibrant in this movie which really could only have come out of the imaginations of these two women who are friends in real

"Abandoning trash. I'm really really thrilled. Because go to make a unlike a ways through this podcast but you've honestly been on my list like a dream guests for a long time. Yeah accessible to you yes. We are all very busy. And for a lot of amazing reasons which i would love to like dive into because your career honestly i mean in my direct circle of of humans that i know like i truly admire and want to emulate your path really. Yeah oh that's very here especially when like last you know now. Three four years. I just haven't been able to like do the next thing. Things haven't worked out so really feel that way because you know maybe there's hope for me yet i will. I'm going to go off my vibes. I think i think i can't see anything not going for. Its ultimate highs. Good with you. I think my god in your mouth to the university. I'm channeling okay. And i'm putting it out there because i don't know it's just something about when got to meet you and then spend more time with you in our eight-plus group which i wanna get into a little bit in our in our shot but just like honestly like having witnessed what you've been able to do with like gazillion dollar properties in link and acting in like your ability to adapt and like your openness and the now your podcast like i'm basically prefacing this entire conversation right right up front yellow billboard a baby we're billboard out of this but it's just honestly there's a lot that kind of come up in my in my podcast that i don't even know how i got here because i thought it was like if i do. Ten episodes were good but like a big theme. That's emerged out of a lot of these conversations. The the the value of persistence and the ability to be resilient and pivot. And just keep going you know f. It's like completely like. I don't know what the hell is happening right now. Where we're just gonna go with. Yeah so i mean you do that to me. That's like the vibe. I get from you and just a lot of like joy and positivity and like let's handle us well for some. I think it's a it's a. it's a add. Certainly been around folks. have career trajectories have skyrocketed. It by the way all those people are hard workers with like with ability and Material to like take them up there But for me it's more of a long game. It's a steady you know. Isn't it for all of us. Seen folks they do you know and that is that is they're weighing in. It's you know it's part of my by doing is an end discipline is just. It's not mine. You're not my way and they are things you can't change for sure. That's the okay. I'm recognizing i would love to know how you've been navigating twenty the the joy that was twenty twenty I mean you know navigating you know if you know if there's just a boat that's not sinking but it's still as humanly possible makes it sound like there's like you know we're heading. We're on our way general floating. Yeah mine is more just sort of like a rafts that has not sell. No ores getting imagery right now. There's a point where the tide get really rough and you're like i got nothing man just going to end up where we end up was really boring if again not be ocean. Oh i should be clear. It's not the ocean we're body daughter. Is this what did this. Euro said health anytime. I laugh off after last year's been like i'm digging man. I'm digging. i'm digging up old. "Whether you know exposure to a penis introduce something called a biofilm which is something that allows us to kind of avoid your immune system so. There's a lot of complicated things that we just don't really quite understand about that. And so those are kind of the main things. But what i would say. Is that if one hundred women that they have a yeast infection usually the number. That truly do. It's closer to about thirty to thirty five percent. So what happens is many people mistake. An external itch for yeast infection and eastern fiction typically produces internal symptoms. Oh boy this is kind of i opening. I mean i. I've definitely treated myself like with over the counter products in the past. And sometimes i felt like it intensifies especially like the three day treatment plans and i just chalked it up for them being extra powerful liz. Have you experienced any of that too. Have i like routinely keep these like natural yeast suppositories in my cupboard. Because i thought i was experiencing like oh wait a second. Wait a sec liz. We have a cause of your Irritation with sex. Those suppositories are not good for you. They're not good me. No no the natural suppositories that that claim to keep like east away that have maybe tea tree oil or lavender. Those kinds of things. They could definitely damage your ecosystem and caused irritation. Oh interesting. I never even thought about that. I don't use them super often. But i don't know i feel like if i ever have like some sort of like inch or or discomfort. You know those. Usually what i turn to you because i thought you know 'cause they all natural it's tries to re balance may almost no can't do that at all. In fact those things are like cigarettes for your vagina that they're really not fun. Yeah they're just. I mean tobacco's all natural right that is true. Yeah i mean. These companies are preying upon people. So we have these huge gaps in medicine where women are made to feel shame about their normal. The china's doctors that aren't trained. Maybe in the way that specialists like i am are and so people get misdiagnosing that pushed off. And so i can totally understand how you turn to someone who's offering this kind of all natural product but those things are definitely harmful for your vagina and i would throw them away. I am planning on doing that. The second i get home. I'm do you have any more questions for dr jen. I i feel like this has been hugely helpful for me liz. I'm so glad you wrote in. Yeah this has been incredibly helpful..

"She's the funniest creature i've ever met in my life and doing it and having puffy league and every single step away e were so encouraged to like do and say whatever you think your character would say all would just be like do more say more stuff. I haven't seen any of the lines yet. He's just keep talking like q such a cheerleader. An i in kristen. Anne being the writers of that. They're such good people and they're so funny. The real kick was everybody was always if we were goofing around doing like stupid. Bit sunset the main thing during scenes where people were just trying to not somebody to go into one of the bits we were just doing. Nobody was like. I need my time or this is my moment. Everyone was literally trained to be like we get my Do the weird thing. She was just doing what we were waiting. How generous. I'm so envious. It was one of the most incredibly fun. Supportive happy loving. I mean i can't say enough about it. It's so funny to me that even if nobody sees it who cares we all get to make a movie together as friends and like look what we did as there is the weirdest thing the weekend it was coming out how they do all those projections and stuff that i never understand. They were like oh really should be prepared. It's not going to do very well. It's not going to and i was like. I don't think that's true there. It's not going to do well. There's a form that we follow. It's not gonna do well. Do you think people will see it. And maybe say like god. There's really funny things in it. They just kept saying brace yourself and then of course it did so well which was shocking. But it was like i have nothing but okada so many stupid pictures of us behind. I was like the last one to figure out like the aging app. Because i'm so technologically challenged and there is like when we're all out on the water at the ending scene when wilson phillips comes out..

"You. I am a virgin. When it comes to any awards what is it like. Get the phone call. And then those months. I imagine i liked imagine because i'm not a part of it that it's totally hellacious like you're getting fitted for shed and you have to smooth. The people remember names. I don't know the workload that goes with. It is very surprising. Is very surprising. Because there's a certain point you're just like if you know. The twenty five held a thirty five year old version of myself would have been like shut up and take it but there is kind of a pack mentality that you're going to so many things in you're seeing the same group of people but by the end you're just like hey america god. I like defected. Seeing everybody as they're all done up for these things that everybody gets more and more grizzled as it goes under water just waved to somebody and then they're like i can't the inside version of that really tickles me. Because i just always think people are so much more you just see somebody walk past you. In there like i remember meeting angelina jolie and i could barely concentrate. It's just like i'll never have that. Whatever she was just talking and being so nice. And i was like oh my god you have to repeat yourself. I said i was so visually distracted. That i don't know what you said to me and i'm so sorry i don't mean to like objectify you just up close holy shit. Look at you and she laughed. But it's like. I like getting to see people that i think are so beguiling be just like anyone else. I think that's something. I found really fun and not in a negative way just like oh my god okay. We're all doing this weird job. It's nice to know that for the most part. Everybody's just a big weirdo. Yeah and everybody's like tired and their feet hurt and everybody for the most part gets along. I've always liked you know what's behind the curtain as opposed to what's in front of it so it's a thing i remember. Amy poehler told me she was nominated eight times on my car an emmy. She said that every time she would tell herself she's not gonna win is not going to win but as the names are being called she felt the hope like rise up every time she just couldn't physically help it and that has stuck with me. Has i know. I would fall into the same trap as much as you know. It can be very dismissing of the awards. Because i haven't won or been nominated for shit so of course i think. But i know it'd be seduced. I know i would just human nature to that though. Of course you have in that second year. Like oh my god. We worked so hard on that. Wouldn't it be great if i remember. The first time i was like octavia is going to win. And then she did and it was. I don't know. I mean we've been friends for twenty five years so i was so happy for her but i mean i have the same thing but different things like even though i know if let's say i'm supposed to run across field with six other actors at the top. I'm a fifty year old woman. I know exactly where i'm going to haul on that foot race and yet i'm like what a of nowhere i can't kill it in like maybe i've got a shot at this and then you know three steps into it. I'm like wow. I'll go out like i. I'm the last two seconds ago..

She built all this on the strength of her comedy and the strength of her spirit. She made this happen by thinking it into existence. What do I mean? That the last black Unicord tell you, it's Tiffany Haddish on Tori show. You see like overnight and I know you're not I know you've been grinding for a long time. I gave Erica Haircut. Yes Nice one. I'd say yeah you give Nice Haircut. This was very hard to cook so curly. I've never heard that curly. Oh and it's hard to pull it up to see the length because all the top pieces just curl over your fingers. It's really hard to get a sense. A man yeah. I bet on a woman. That's less of a problem because the hair's longer still as you're moving your hands down to pull it out. You want to see if there's any you want to be straight ish but it's just all folded or this pieces this long you'd have the right time with mine. Then no I can pull yourself really lazy. I know wave. He's fine. It's when it actually curls over sixty your fingertip I see you got to basically pulled each hair up. It's impossible. I bet my mom thinks she'd be able to handle it. She's very arrogant about hair. Cutting skills another I think about it. I guess the move would have been pull all the way up in the cut from the bottom which never done. But that actually is how I prob- anyways fuck now. I'm realizing how okay watch videos like. I am a skilled petition. Melissa Melissa so well this part is confusing. Because she wasn't recording at the very very buried top because we were just bantering but then she mentions pine Sol okay and just wanted people to know we were talking about her cleaning her bathroom with Pine Sol before we started. Okay that's the she brings up the bathroom cleaning pine Sol. It was in reference to something. We'd spoken about a call but earlier. It was a callback. Okay and then. She said when her dad her dad would wake up at five. And then tell Ron it was nine. Oh and then I just made me wonder like if you had your druthers. What time did you wake up the left to my own I would. I would go to sleep at one. Am and wake up at nine. That would be the perfect schedule for me. Well that's where like at one actually WanNa falsely and at nine. I WANNA get up like I'm ready to get up. Yeah like any other hours. I'm forcing myself to go to sleep. And I'm forcing myself to wake up. Yeah I see that. Oh we should say I'm not GonNa have to do that as much. Bless this mess got canceled today. So sorry feel sad for everyone. That's worked so hard on it over the last couple of years lake and Liz and the cast and it's a great show. It's a great show. It's really funny. I love watching the girls but I talked everyone. Everyone seemed pretty good about it. That's Garret. Yeah no one seems suicidal or anything. That's good I'm sad because it was funded. Go there and do fact checking off those kind of fun. It was fun. I'd always grab your cookie from those occur to. I'm sorry when in can build and all the time you're Georgia buddy that maybe he'll do another project with her home. Never know She she said email was kinda relatively new and she was up groundlings. So I'm going to give you a time line about email K. organ away okay. Nineteen seventy-one oh Jesus Okay Ray. He now can't remember the first message. He said or the exact date he sent it. Tomlin system gained popularity by linking up users on arpanet the US Department of Defense System that became the basis for the Internet. "That's a comedy they're like. Oh I give it like a thirty Mike. Well the thing I particularly bristle about and Danny McBride and I had a nice bitch session about. It is the total failure to recognize how hard it is to make. Comedy work versus. I can push in a camera and I can play Peter. Gabriel and guess what you're gonNA feel an emotion. There's no cheating and comedy them to not even acknowledge that as frustrating like you go. Oh wasn't my brand of comedy but I could see that it's well made and I could see everyone's laughing around like the unwillingness to even recognize the architecture of it in respect it is I find offensive. Now you don't have to like something. But as a reviewer you should be knowledgeable enough to recognize the mechanics of it. Yes it is sometimes just like you can't be a food critic if you're like. I only like peanut butter and white bread. Everything else is terrible you. My friend should get a different job. Like if you're if you're saying I can look at everything with an open opinion and it doesn't have to be my thing but this was very good or this was done. Well I think people will like it but I also think a little bit of it is like instagram. Like you school. Scroll through instagram. You see the guy. Light a firework in his ass. And You KINDA CHUCK ALL RIGHT. You get a little chuckle. You can scratch your comedy. You can't really scratch your drama. It's you're not gonNa really see something in a thirty second video that fulfills you in that desire for drama part of it is. I feel like we're competing with this immediate thing but the thing that scares me as the thing you just mentioned which is that aside. The shared experience of being at wedding crashers opening night was so profound compared to evaluate watched it on my phone and that's a hard thing to convince younger. People don't have those fun memories of going to see the Bill Murray movie when it came out in that shared. Oh we all were with that audience or just roll and that laughter. What happened you? Do you leave the bit more of like humanity? Not just a laugh. But you're like I got in a room with a bunch of strangers which God knows when that will happen again and we have this shared experience e you feel it is someone to be like. Didn't affect me at all and it transient. You could be sitting next to a guy from Texas with a cowboy hat on. You could be sitting next to a rabbi to your left when Owen Wilson says we only use ten percent of our heart to see all of us. Laugh you're like Oh there's some unifying beauty to this thing. Yeah it says it brings people together. That would never normal late. You're right in the same room. Have the same opinion on something. Yeah there's a power to it. Yeah I just feel like it's verbally. It's fallen out of fashion but when people like the comments I get I get more people just being like. Please keep making the movies you make because we need it. I need to go home at the end of the day and laugh. And that's not everything you're doing is great. I just mean like that's the comment. I get all the time. It's like. Just keep it up because we need something. Yeah but then I. I don't feel like that sentiment gets through. May Be to the people kind of choosing and and commenting on the brass. Yeah Okay Well. Listen America. I was on the outside and I saw the beginning. I'm not Ben but I'm the next best thing you're going to hear from. Is that this Gal. I was around for most of the ride and I saw at the pinnacle on the boss. I'd even say you're kinder than you were when we are at the groundlings visions. And you weren't telling me about the volume versus ticket price. I'm just so happy that it all went the way it went that America got to see the thing I had been seen for free for years. It's just one of my happiest examples that I've been around in the fact that you stayed so beautiful and nice and kind generous. And you stayed in your pod. Your realist fuck. That's my conclusion. Real your real real real McCarthy. Well you're a sweeter peaches you ever were. I hope a little better even better that way. You're even better than you always were. Which is is saying something. Well I adore you and I look forward to seeing being over in us to go for a swim in your pool. Dead All right John. You Okay Bye love.

"Star. Everyone else is going to support this person's moment to be funny. It was very collaborative which is very growl. Sketch comedy. Yeah when I went in I thought I tanked on the way home idiot idiot talking about like I had like a sexual encounter underwater with Dolphin and I literally was driving home to you dummy you dummy even various Christian and Anne what the hell are you talking about first of all like you can't have sex with I'm like Oh my God I never I never thought in a million years is going to get it and then you did and then oh my gosh overnight you're GonNa get to be the lead of movies like crazy in the way that Sandler and all these people that we looked up to that happened. Yeah Ben Neier always like you know we start a new movie or if we sell something it. They're still a look like afterwards. We're like what the hell just been a running game of. We expect somebody to be like. Oh my God we figured out who you gotta go. Sorry you guys have got it. We you know your idea got switched with someone else's but we're onto you now and we wanted to make we gotta tell some other presidents have studios that this is a big clerical error. They should have never been led in. I kind of always think that I've had such a fun. Ride the Mike when it happens. I'm going to be like e you got it. Want TO CLEAN UP OUR SNACKS. Or you just get out okay. Can I take my chair back? No okay is it so nice that you guys have been on the ride from day one together like. That's so cool that you kinda see also can't really get away with anything. Because he's a part of your history. Not just the Melissa McCarthy Melissa McCarthy yeah it's like the best how we met you know I mean we met being stupid and doing these crazy characters and he was my favorite person to write with so many people are always like. Oh what's it like spending all day with with your husband than coming home with well? I kind of married someone crazy about so. It's kind of awesome now. Did you feel the pressure of like when you came out of bridesmaids like? Oh Shit now I gotTa Chew. It's such a shift in thinking. I just want to in this stuff and Elvis like oh I got to choose responsibly as funny. It's just talking about this. Bateman called me Jason Lumber hauled him like wanted to talk about something and I was like who is this like. Who is this really? Just there's there's a thing written for two guys that you and I could. Do you WanNa meet for lunch and Mike this is. Tod couldn't couldn't quite process. But I think thinking sounds like Bateman yet going and listening to someone be like. Here's a great idea. What do you think I was used to? You know US doing staff we all talk about it and but it wasn't used to someone so established and successful being like what do you think it was a moment of like because at that moment. I was like Emmy only get one more. Yeah Yeah I mean how many people you know. You're one and done or two and done Ben and I talked about. He seems Nice. It seems like it'll be kind of silly and fun. Somebody over thought it at all. I was just like my supposed to be doing like pros and cons. Is there a graph? I'm supposed to be making? I was like he seems really fun due diligence as how to do that like. I didn't know what I was doing of course not I main thing was like. Are you against a red curly wig? Kind of as I'm going to have to get my props in order because the show. When do we start young enough to go to Salvation Army and pick up? Did kind of think like you know. I have some red wigs there like we can. We'll have someone do cocoa. Yeah Yeah I know I know I knew that identity theft and you guys were so great together just worked. Here's what I'm curious about. I have come through this whole thing with some knowledge now at forty five that I could've used when I was twenty eight. God yes I wanted money and I wanted to be recognized and I wanted all these things and I was certain that if I got those things I was going to feel a certain way that it was gonna fill a certain hole in me and then I was lucky enough to get a lot of those things in in discover. Oh Shit that they didn't really do the thing I was expecting and I'm just wondering if you've had that experience as well I mean I think for me I always think of it as staying steady. And they've stayed steady with my friends. I've stayed steady with Ben. I don't live any differently than than I would if I still was at groundlings and still you know being a a or doing other other jobs and love what I do but I think as I got it so much later I was already like. I'm kind of fully cooked. This is why this is what you're GONNA get an. It's so many years trying to even get an agent trying to get got one one commercial commercials just hated my guts. And I was like you know I was told I I don't I don't come off as a neighbor that was a common. I got once in. Mike. I am a neighbor crying me and actually a neighbor. And they're like she just doesn't seem like a neighbor of Mike because they had me like. What does that mean? I seem crazy or like I live in a dungeon now. This person lives in a car. There one's neighbor maybe some parks. I guess temporarily their neighbors but I think I went through all those kind of if I was this. Maybe it would work five. Is Taller younger prettier. Maybe I need to be be harsher. A member for a day was doing something and someone who is just very very difficult just kind of got everything handed to them and I literally tried it for a day and other than literally getting like Weird Rashes and I felt awful. Ben came to set that day. And he was so grossed out he was like a total asshole. What is the matter with you and I might? But I'm just trying to stake my claim because it works for so and so and he's like you just snapped at somebody about coffee and you did it to someone that you really really like and it was like. I know I'm trying something. I literally spent like the rest of the day. I did it for probably four hours until Ben was like you're disgusting in. You're like I don't know who you are. And then the rest of the day it was like crying and like telling people like I don't know trying something very uncomfortable and I went through this having been see it. It's like oh it's just awful. I was like I'm all right with I'm who I am. I've gone through the everybody has such you know we all have weird insecurities obscene you as the leader on the set of the movie. You got green light because Kristen was in it and I got to see you and you're just a beautiful kind patient. You couldn't be nicer more benevolent person. What you've done brilliantly is like Mallory still writes shit. Yeah you're in Ben Direct stuff. You're in you seem to have recognized. No the gift of this like doing it in this group and then it's just joy. I have to say that like we're going to work. There's all these people that we've been doing this for so long and like you came to do something and it's like you do just start to. I think really early on. I thought like you can never break into these things. Because it's all like these clicks Baba and I realize we. Yeah when you get like twenty five people that are just absolutely wonderful. And they're great at what they do and they're beautiful lovely human beings. Why would you not go back to the same well and then each time you bring in new people but like it's such a nice thing to like? I love going to work but you do have to set it up so it's not like oh by the way you know you're going to spend four months with someone who's a screamer. Mike nope yes. Sometimes it work. I just think this is my job. Like I'm I'm literally doing what I did it like three years old like I pretending to be old lady somehow I feel like I'm conning everybody I still play make believe and it's like stupid bits for your friends and that's our professional job octavian. I just did something together. And we had these insane superhero suits on where have huge like it was all like the suits had gone wrong shaking up and down trying to see what body parts. We could make balance in front of the camera and I was like we are being completely professional right now. This is very very professional behavior. But we're standing there trying to see like what parts of your body can you make bounce and we're like yeah. This is the job. The notion that you're you're delivering what the boss wanted by doing the thing you got in trouble for in school is what a what a station. I've directed a couple of car chase things and have cops watch me do a stunt crowded downtown area and then give me the thumbs up as I drive by. I'm like Oh my God. How did I figure out this situation? This is incredible fever dream. So the only person that you've really got to be with that I'm still in deep. Jealousy of is of course bill. Murray 'cause see I guess for me as the just the number one of all number ones. He's a Unicorn. What was it like? We got along really well. I was so nervous to meet him. I was like Jesus to I say Mr I got jacked up with like. I don't just say bill. Just walk in and say hey bill so it was like Mr Murray and I was like practicing Hello Bill Murray and kept getting more and more was getting sharper in stranger sounding and I was reading up. I was getting sweaty and I literally like. Hey Hey Hey Murray and I'm like you don't call Murray Sports Team together and all of a sudden I had lost any ability to just be like hi nice to meet you. I was like I was in the hair and makeup trailer and he walked in and I just remember I like really super got sweaty and just locked up and I didn't look and then finally I looked over and he walked down to me and I did a very awkward like maybe I'll shake your hand but it was a little weird height so he just started he started to. He turned me around a couple of times. He's pretty good height okay and he was checking out like a car and then one point pulled up my beat and was like kind of adjusting. My almost like he was chewing me and then he met like a pulled up a knee and like kind of bent my leg out and was like hey that seems to be working one. He just such a wonderfully weird incredibly talented cool guy but I I also think like when you see people like I was doing when they see him for the first time. People's wiring goes weird. I got the feeling instead of making me stumble through my own. Murray Mr Bill. Murray Mr Murray Bill Bill. I think he was like I'm just gonNA totally be myself but also be weird enough that you don't have to do anything it. It was like a four minute thing that by the time he was done. I was laughing so hard. We just did an introduction but so weird and so funny and also working with them I have to say..

"Most McCarthy Yes Jack Sheppard God I love you right back at you. But we're both from the mid west and I do wonder so I think my wife in particular. She's a very good person. The best person more good than me. Oh my God by a landslide. Yes and I knew a lot. I like you a lot but sometimes I think she's so good that it might in the end we're gonNA find out she's Super Shady because it just seems toogood. I couldn't agree more. That has secrets full. Because you know I'm never shocked when it's the guy like bill cosby. Where of course the guy was going around telling people they can't swear doing stand up and shaming for doing nudity. Yes that makes sense and this weather's I never trust sweaters. That can't be trusted but kristen. Stocks the house with very responsible cleaning ingredient. I know I actually I was like if I say pine saw I feel like going to texts me and be like there's all these I I use vinegar chew but today I just hit it hard and like you know what I want. Everybody all day to be like she really cleaned that bathroom exact so I wanted a little proof. Yes I couldn't agree more. This silly thing that happened where I had cut myself like in the afternoon and then I had used toilet paper to get rid all the blood and then I I purposely put the toilet paper like on top of the trash cans. So that when she got home she'd be like. Oh my goodness what happened to you but then someone threw something else out in there. And then I found myself rearranging the paper so the blood would be untouchable. I could get attention. That's so great. And then she's walking limping or like holding your wrists like Oh this is fine. Of course I tried to play it off like yeah like. I can't believe she found that I was trying to hide and then they came clean taller. That's why you're that's why. You're lovable weirdness. Plus the honesty is like a wonderful Combo. Yes scumbag and then apologetic about it like Ben his kristen. And I'm you and we're all doing fine. But benza much much better human a better person than I will ever be and most people that know us as you do are like yeah. That's that's pretty accurate and I'm glad you brought it up because I think that and I was like you know I don't know if I bring that up you know it'll be met with open arms but yeah I would say that's a really good each other. Where each other. Why in. What way is he better than you? I'd like him to prove it. He super patient and I'm always like hot anything like that so people. Let's figure out a way to help them. But I've gotta take seven laps around the house going. What's GonNa who which somebody has to do something? And meanwhile by the time I'm done ranting he's like so I called this. It can really help so I did that. And then might all I've been doing is outside swearing and like he just because it does it better and I'm like oh great. He goes great intentions. A process is not always wonderful efficient. Okay but okay our our defense. So I know Ben's Dad he's the sweetest calmest most patient man. My mom is a tornado of productivity and excitement. You know so I feel like I inherited it honestly are your parents is cool. And Calm is Ben's Dad. They're both really sweet funny. But my mom's much more quiet and just kind of like. Hey you WanNa go count pennies today. Oh Yeah Oh yeah let okay. I like pennies. Anything you say. She's just like Oh yeah. We're GONNA clean the bathroom. She was just here she left yesterday. My Mom and dad's stay with us for the winters and I left to go do a job in my dad went home to fish in the Illinois and my mom stayed an extra week to see me when I got home from job. And she got stuck here because she won't fly so she's been with me the last fifty days and we literally just put her on an RV yesterday to go back. And I'm like like you know thirty five hours and she's thinking I'll do my puzzles. Oh.

"Hello Hello Welcome. That's quite funny that you picked that lineup by the funnies because it was I said it in barons in Glasgow when we were recording a live album on the tour and finally is a very endearing to call someone in Glasgow. If you're being an idiot appeared fanny and it just came out. It was unplanned. It's on my live album so yeah I think is gonNA glass that one great. Hashtag stike five eight member to write the word five. So you've been based out in La for some time now and that's obviously a very different culture. Has that impacted on your song race in Seoul what you say. Yeah I think location is always GONNA be important ingredient in what material you come up with and I'd actually go night to La to sort of start again. Because I'd been through some really difficult stuff here in the UK a dotted past divorce. Everything owned just really needed a fresh start. I wanted some sunshine and I wanted to be somewhere just in this of replenishing environment. London's quite overwhelming very fast place city. Oh it was found it quite difficult to relax in London and I gone to Venice. Beach was onto an. I'd been going to La for a long time tour but it was the first time few years ago I went to Venice beach and it was the first place. I'd been where everyone is just bombing around every day of the week. You don't have to wait for the weekend and that's actually really helpful for what we did. Because we don't have weekends in London if I had a Wednesday off. Everyone's just giving me evil looks because I've got time off whereas there it's just a very laid back quite an alternative culture in that part of La and La's basically like twitter. It just totally depends who you follow. You can have an extremely different experience living in different parts of La knowing different people. It's very separate all these areas so you can. You can really have a completely opposed experience of living there from someone else and so I chose Venice and I was going to take a break. I felt very stagnated. It just felt like I was caught in an eddy of finding the mixer. He's mixing everybody's staff of being in competition with you know inevitably any other female musicians that anyone could think of. And I just wasn't very inspired to make a record so I've actually gone out to L. A. Really to study film composition which I did but it was really just listening to west coast rock sixties and seventies row. Tom Petty fleetwood. Mac Neil Young Joni that got me writing some real kind of Air Punch big choruses again and the world had sort of become darker at that stage that was like two thousand fifteen things were on the turn and so if I was writing similar stuff folk inspired stuff like I did on invisible empire crescent me my fourth record. I probably would have to shelve it and waited but I was writing these really. Big Pop. Choruses about overcoming difficulty so it felt like quite helpful thing to put out into the world. I was excited to do it. Yeah we're always fascinated by right zoo. Kinda take a break from when we spoke to front healy. He said it's Kinda like select the field life. Follow for Awhile and I think that's really important. I think that's why I mean. Some people can smoke fags burgers every day until they're one hundred and five and they're fine. Everyone's different but it certainly works for me to not be constantly trying to keep up a level of output people often ask about writer's block and I actually watched them a star is born. The other day was it as far as born. No it was the wife. It was that foam the wife. Brilliant Glenn Close Foam. And there's a line in it where they're at this really pretentious party. No it wasn't even the wife. Can you ever forgive me? It was one of the Oscar nominated movies when Melissa. Mccarthy goes to this book party. And someone's asking this really pretentious right or do you ever get writer's block and he goes well. I don't subscribe to writer's block I was like. Oh my God. I say that it sound so pretentious but I actually don't. I just think it's quite arrogant to expect your creative mind to just do what you tell it to do. I don't understand really where the gift of some rain comes from. And so if people ask me that question I'm like look how many books how many films how many plays how many museums of you said that you want to go and see Redo Watch ingest and you've done use that time. Fill yourself with some stuff. Get some input or sit and do nothing in your Pyjamas. Also very useful. I find but you shall time for creativity. Oh that sounds like a bit of a paradox book. Do you put a new. Yes so it's a great excuse to go on. Adventures. I love right now albums. I love albums that one piece of vinyl because I think that four or five minute cut off point is actually a really good of point for how much music you can ingest at one time. The same for podcasts. Yeah good to know. I'll keep my answers slightly shorter but yeah I think albums are a really extraordinary form of making music. Even if you're not I mean I'm in the middle of the matic are making three albums together in a trilogy at the moment. But even if you're not doing that there's a there's a familial kind of hermetically sealed world within which that record is made and so many people will come up to me and say that their favorite track is an album track. And IT WASN'T I. It would have been the single at first but Israeli side that we're kind of moving. I'm not a lot of people I know are not but in general. There is a move away from albums. And I think that that's a shame because it kind of is taking away that deep dive on a snapshot of an artist's life at that time so tell us about that idea that you've been chewing Kim and walks. Did you have a unifying concept of the trilogy before you even started? Nope that was the thing that was really funny trilogy. You would think that you would decide upon that before you started. And I didn't and I wrote can and it was so very healing experience. In that record it was coming with kind of really Fu blast Mojo but really feeling like it was the beginning of the second half of my life so I came to. Kim is quite a different person than I had been up until that point and in many ways the fourth record invisible empire crescent meeting. I kind of see funeral music. It's cold these titles because my dad died right in the middle of those sessions and it was. He wasn't very well but it wasn't expected. And then I kind of had this wake up where I just went on Gordon with the wrong person. I'm sort of in the wrong life. And so yeah. And this is when procurement was this kind of funeral march to that happening and so then became this real phoenix from the ashes. It was this real beginning of something completely new for me and you know it's very easy to take a show. L. A. N. It's completely deserved. It's total bullshit van. You know people go. Oh my God. You're amazing you've got to do the movie. Oh they never called me ever again but there is also this amazing element to la where it's really is the vanguard of a low of new thoughts from health to filmmaking to the arts. You don't get laughed at for trying weird stuff. And there's a brilliant Frank Lloyd Wright Amion love he's an intrinsic part of La's architecture and kind of culture and but he says if you turn America on its site everything falls in California and so you just get a low of Weirdos and a low of them eccentric people and the thing I particularly like about L. A. Is Wild in many ways but actually like literally you can drive twenty minutes and be at the top of a mountain and be killed by a lion and that's the truth and there's Koyo Cheese and eagles and it really is untamed and it's also completely untamed in Mississippi as well because there's not as with guns in their cars so it's just a really extreme place so meditation had been a big part an always wanted to get into yoga just healing myself and getting really healthy and it's very easy to do there and I did and I really enjoyed it. Meditation became quite an important part of my daily life. 'The Kitchen' cooks up a half-baked mob drama

"Frank gonna start off with a Melissa McCarthy film called the kitchen almost everyone has been anything but have babies two men have forgotten what family means so we remind now a few minutes ago we were talking about Melissa McCarthy awhile she's generally known for and a silly comedies she's actually a pretty good actress what about this movie yeah she is a pretty good actor she was in a film last year of live action and and the powerful drama will you ever forgive me in which she played a an author who got into trouble for faking biographies of people this is another drama and she's good in it Tiffany had issues in it too a comedian whose turn to dramatic acting this is about three wives of mob figures in nineteen seventies New York who take over the protection of racquets after their husbands get sent to prison and they become powerful mob figures in hell's kitchen which is what the film is named after this is based on a comic book series actually and it's rather than being edgy and and very deep it's sort of pulp fiction trashy but it's kind of entertaining trash if you know what I mean it's it's not a terrible movie is not a terribly good and perceptive one either but McCarthy and had a sure very good and it is an excellent supporting class cast in it as well but you have to be ready to accept some pretty graphic violence in this movie this is not an easy movie to watch in some of the sequences so you should be forewarned about that it's a kind of a medium grade movie but if you're in the right frame of mind you might find it

Disney+ Will Reboot Four Fox Movie Franchises

"Us about disney's plans to boot several popular fox properties so disney snitch chief robert iger announced on an earnings call with investors that the studios developing several reboots and reimagining of fox's family friendly hits including being titles like home alone ninth museum dairy of wimpy kid and cheaper by the dozen and these reboots would be debuting on disney plus according to a new report from collider rider so these are fox's most recent <hes> family friendly hits apart from cheaper by the dozen which is actually slee remake in a ended of itself so and it seems like disney plus is building its titles original content to be largely reboots reboots in a sense <hes> and <hes> recognizable i._p. In addition to this there are also seeing some disney live action makes his animated films like lady and the tramp as as well as just the marvel and star wars titles but <hes> that seems to be the strategy that disney plus is going forward in the coming streaming wars. I mean that's kind kind of depressing isn't it that that disney acquired fox just to sort of push off some of these like remix fox properties onto disney plus yep <hes> they can't just have these <hes> these classics on their <hes> streaming platform as in the archives to slap the disney brand and on it and put a little twist up apparently <hes> the home alone reimagining for example would <hes> put a twist on the story and make it without a husband and wife could go to with a young boy who has stolen something from them so that's something along the lines of what will likely be seeing with these remakes interest. It's not even home alone yeah. What what a bizarre. That's like a yeah. It's a totally different concept. They could just make you know original movies themselves but you know you gotta have that i._p. I guess 'cause that's disney strategy and they're making a lot of money from it hub so brad. I was going to throw to you and say. Is there any hope that these projects addicts could be you know maybe better than we think and maybe not quite as crass as we're making them out to be but that particular <hes> synopsis or description of what they're planning to do with home alone get makes me even more worried than i was. You know thirty seconds ago do you do you even with that in mind do you. I think that there's any chance that these are going to be like worth seeking out or do you think it's just mining these properties for name recognition alone. I mean there's always a chance when it comes to stuff like this. I i've tried to be a little more understanding and less judgmental <hes> when it comes to remakes re boots. There have been some really good remake reboots. There've been some really bad remakes in reboots and so there's always a chance that they could figure something out. <hes> disney does have a lot of talented people working for for them and a lot of people who want to work for them so it wouldn't have their own possibility for you know some of these movies to work. I just wish that they would you know invest their time in making the things that really haven't been done yet or at least adapting more interesting stories that come from other you know media i see this slate the titles and i can't help but get frustrated that they scrapped the mouse guard adaptation which looked fantastic <hes> all in favor of doing you know more remakes like this so that is frustrating rating but i kind of just a wait and see scenario for me. I i don't know what to expect from the quality of these movies that will go into disney plus but i guess i'll will be hoping for the best a._t. Do we know any other like notable information about any of these particular projects or is it still too early to talk about casting and stuff like that. It's still a little too early <hes> home alone remake is a reboot is the one that we have the most information on apparently a brat scribe. Dan mazer is being i to direct the film while melissa mccarthy is reportedly being to star in it as one of the parents so so but other than that we don't know if that's settled yet

"Today's the day we have to MD's coming on today to talk r I n d is Dr Patel. Her new book is out. It's called the oil solution. Treat chronic pain, anxiety, and som- Neha and more without the high. So this is a book that includes over forty recipes for edibles and wellness products and wonderful things that you can do right in your own kitchen. And so Dr Patel has been internationally recognized as an expert in the field of medical medical cannabis. She teaches her patients how to use oil to relieve their symptoms transform their health and live a better quality of life. And it is such a pleasure. Dr welcome to the program. Thank you for having me. I have to just ask you a question. I don't know if you heard the news story that. Melissa McCarthy has been using her stylist recommended CBD oil for her feet after all of the awards the awards shows her feet were really really killing her and her stylist said, well, we just have to start using CBD oil on your feet, and so she's been using CBD on her sheep. Well. It became a featured segment on one of the morning shows this week where all the experts that they interviewed. Including many of your colleagues with with all due respect that said there's no evidence. This is absolutely at field that we just don't know enough about we need to have more evidence. It may sound good. But I couldn't believe that a major network. I would even say that at this point in time about the Canada. Dial portion the CBD the non high version of this plant, and I'd love for you to comment on that. Yeah. I mean, look granted there there. There is an EPA thicken amount of evidence. At the fact of the matter is it better work expect when it comes to muscular pink. He'll for multiple hours at a time. The muck are gonna hurt and. Been shown very affected force back. Tippety specifically in patients who have multiple imagine just have severe the cramping gives that they experience. Yes. Something like that. It's not certainly affected for for some cramping that you have in your heat treated, thousands of patients at this point. And for me. Know that the evidence is very obvious that my patients have experienced I I have to tell you have after doing this show for over two years. Now, I absolutely agree with you. But I also think that there is evidence we have been studying this plant for a very long time. Other countries are leaders and pioneers, as you all know as you are as you know, Dr. In Spain leading pioneers, Israel. Oh my gosh. They the forerunners in Israel. They are truly the pioneers. So we do have some studies. We do have evidence. We do have clinical. This is not just take this. This is also it is a lot of it is anecdote, but the question becomes who. Do you trust with the information, and it's very confusing when? Information is put out there. That's not correct. Yep. I agree with you. And it's actually important because it's an onion regulated industry. So anybody can you out any crap out of their mouth, and you know, there there's no one to say that hey that wrong or there's no one out there to regulate what they're saying. Okay. You have to turn to have knowledge and experience in the field, right knowledge faith on on research and experience from actually tweeting people your particular condition, and with move particular symptom the other area where what's important to go to knowledgeable company is in the quality of the product. Obviously product that you're purchasing. Yes. Show that seventy percent. New product little does. Could be buying overpriced bottle of Oliver coconut oil, and and and and get no effect from it. But that's another area where you've, you know advocates swimming is willing to pay attention because it's not a regulated industry. Okay. That's the main thing to look for are the are the main way to look for that. Laboratory tests results laboratory should be done a third party lab. One sec lights and five state. Okay. In enrich the product with me. That's really really important.

Oscar nominations 2019 predictions: From A Star is Born to Roma

"Eight. I saw green book most recently, which I thought was great that may end up being my pick to to win the best picture. You've seen all best picture movies except for Roma. So you've got Black Panther black klansman bohemian rhapsody, by the way, Adam Lambert and Queen are going to perform Sunday, that'd be cool. That'll be really lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper performing. Which will also be cool. You really cool the favorite green book Romo rumour, aroma. Tony Romo model a star is born and vice. And who you picking unpicking green book to win because I think it made you feel the best and it was well done a period piece based on a true story, Rome. I think is getting a lot of a lot of buzz too. But maybe the director Affonso who also I think one best picture for gravity in our best director in two thousand thirteen for gravity Black Panther, which I know dragon scene for sure is definitely the best of all the marvel movies ever made. And it's interesting because it was such a big deal about their cast being all black the director and writer Ryan Kugler African American and so I'm surprised that he wasn't nominated for best director as well, Spike, Lee. This is his fifth nomination for best director. He's never one. But I'm picking green book to win that wouldn't be surprised if Roma does I loved bohemian rhapsody. But you remember when it came out, and we talked about they took some liberties with the story joke that Freddie Mercury doesn't die of aids in the movie because I remember making that joke. They changed a bunch of stuff around in that movie. Why did you read the bio and Freddie Mercury? I talked to friends that have seen it the no a lot more about Queen and the timetable with how the movie plays out and how he got in the band and stuff, but it's an entertaining movie. What's the best movie you've seen this year because I'm picking green book to win? I haven't seen any of them, by the way. So I got nothing. Oh. Yeah. Set a best picture you haven't seen Black Panther either. No. But are you a superhero movie guy? No, not at all. No. I I haven't seen any of those. I'm gonna say that I I like bohemian rhapsody a lot and I'm not a huge Queen fan. But I really liked it. But I'm gonna go with the stars four stars born it was it was really really I think the biggest reason reasonable win. Cathy, is that it's already been this is the fourth. They've done this story. I know that they've tweaked it. I didn't lady Gaga is gonna pull the upset for best actress, I hope so I you know, it really really made me like lady Gaga put her in a total different category fro. Yes. She's fantastic. A great singer. But you know, I I like her music, but I never put her like on this pedestal you've tried to act not try you weren't actor try. That's a bit of a stretch. But yeah, but the point is imagine the first real you ever play you get nominated for an Oscar, and I get that she's playing a struggling musician, and she can easily identify with that and go back to what it took to get discovered and all of that. And and you know, toiling in nothing jobs hoping for that break, but to execute that onscreen, and she was she was the best part of the movie by far Bradley Cooper is really good. But I hope she wins. Even though Glenn Close, it's seven nation. She's never one. So she could be a lifetime achievement kind of winner. If you will she's phenomenally talented, she s I don't know. But I liked Ramey. Malik as I think he's going to go. I mean, he did a great impersonation. So let's go actor in a leading role, you got Christian bale? Vice Bradley Cooper, a star is born Willem Defoe at eternity gate. Remmy Romney Malik bohemian rhapsody Vigo Mortenson green book, jussie smollet for the Chicago hope. Very funny. Avi next next year. He'll get one for that bright. Yeah. Like when Golden Globes. Yeah. So that it plus you're combining acting and singing did he really singing. Oh, okay. So we he was acting like a cigarette. Huber really saying. Yeah, he did having Adam Lambert seeing at the goal K, so okay. And at the Oscars, maybe Bradley Cooper, then because he's singing and acting and this is any directed it. This is Bradley Cooper's forced nomination as an actor, and he's never won Christian bale. One once Willem Dafoe. This is his fifth nomination. He's never won. And I don't I know Vigo Mortenson hasn't won. And certainly Rami Malik first nomination. Still picking me Malik to win. I thought he was great. Actress in a leading role you have low LIZA appereciation from Roma. You have Glenn Close. Everybody knows here from the wife Livia Coleman from the favorite lady. Gaga stars born Melissa McCarthy, can you ever forgive him in a more serious turn not a not a comedic role. She's awesome. The best lady Gaga for that. I think it's upset Glenn Close as the heavy favorite. But I'm I'm pulling a lady Gaga upset as my pick feel like Glenn Close because she's been around. So long performance is great. And then maybe it's like her turn kind of thing. Maybe and, but they did it lady Gaga's gonna keep acting and have another shot seems far-fetched at this point. Right. So is leader thirty. So, but how come Bradley Cooper, gene, get a directing because he did for American sniper? So that's about those are the biggies right there. Yeah. Supporting actor and actress, Marcia Lee who is in green book, I bet you. He wins a second. You don't want to talk about making hairstyling best animated feature. Incredible to come on. I don't know about best editing. The spider verse hairstyling best song song about best picture. Or did. We did that already songs. Best. The song. Okay. What are your choices? I don't see all the stars Black Panther. I'll fight RV g the place where lost things go. Mary. Poppins returns. Shallow. A star is born when a cowboy change Spurs for wings, the ballot BUSTER Scruggs, and that's different from original score original scores of music throughout the movie right songs. I think it'll be almost impossible. For lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper not to win. I think they win. Okay. We're we're out of time. I'll watch part of it. Yeah. It's like a four hour show. Four hours. It's hard to it gets here. It's one of my favorite my favorite nights of the year. I used to always do with my mom. That guy picks. I'm that guy. I have a couple of friends getting together to watch the show. I get it. I mean, if you watch I haven't seen all the movies. I wait to watch him on the Denver Broncos play. Year later used be all the movies. It'll be of several of these. Oh, I gave did your wife end up watching bohemian a couple times guide and really liked.

"melissa mccarthy" Discussed on Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist

"Guys, Willie Geist back with you for another episode of the Sunday sit down podcast. Thanks so much for clicking on us and I subscribe ingwer every get your podcast. Getting full uncut interview here in the Sunday. Sit down the interview. We play NBC on Sundays, run seven or eight minutes. Here we give you all of it half hour forty, five minutes, whatever you want. And today it is Melissa McCarthy out with a new movie life of the party. So fun to talk to because I don't think a lot of people fully understand where she comes from you kind of picked her up around Mike and Molly maybe or maybe bridesmaids. Maybe it was Gilmore girls depending on how far along you are in her career, but she started growing up on a soybean farm in Plainfield Illinois about forty miles outside Chicago. It's a long journey from there to where she is now, Forbes magazine just put her number four in terms of the most bankable stars of two thousand seventeen in Hollywood, not bad. She, you know, came to New York as you'll hear with thirty five bucks. I think she says, thirty five dollars in her pocket at twenty years old had no idea what she was doing. Just rolled into town. And now she's one of the most famous people on the planet. So we're gonna talk right now to the great Melissa McCarthy. We got together in the rainbow room here at thirty. Rockefeller plaza upstairs, a legendary room. Just the two of us in a big empty ballroom. We had in front of us some tea. She likes tea and a Makarova macaroni is it's that kind of dry fancy look in cookie that some people enjoy. We're gonna talk right at the beginning about whether or not people actually do enjoy that and whether or not we actually enjoy that. So please enjoy this Sunday, sit down interview with Melissa McCarthy, talking about her new movie life of the party at the rainbow room at Rockefeller Center will thank you for meeting me again for usual Wednesday morning breakfast, date in an empty rainbow room. Say morning guys. I said, I know we need crystal because I know you love it. So. I wish we did meet here. Everyone's funny. Downs, real quiet, and we just, we just have tea in cookies. We don't like don't touch the macaroni with mirrors and gold behind us opulent I always think, and it works like a charm because I think, oh, it's too much. And then you're like, wow, there's just look at all the spark that I started. I'm, you're going to be happy. It's a very sparkley varies Berkeley, very sparingly. So I wanna talk mostly about miss wide, but we'll get to that in just a minute. Oh, god. Before we get to miss wind your time in New York, let's talk about life of the party. Let's feels to me like a Melissa sort of classic big character, funny loud self-confident more than maybe she should be. That's just me. It's something about it really hits like hits my heart, right? I mean, I think. The character played Dina's is kind of based on my mom who I really do think it's like this, like marzipan figuring that just kinda makes everybody feel good and and tries her best even if it's not. You know, she's not the most topical meaning. Well, probably my mom or my character, but there's such a sweetness to it, and I just thought. I wanted to show like a mom and daughter relationship where the daughter was always, you know, rolling her eyes and the mom wasn't a nightmare. And they just think you don't always see that. And I have such a good relationship with my mom and I don't know. I know so many people that have great relationships. I'm like, why is it every time you see a mother daughter, you know, the daughter was like, hates her mom, and then the mom's just like such a train wreck. And Mike, maybe there's a middle ground where you know you can actually show that they love each other and it's still funny and it's not Sacranie, but like I just, I don't know. I kind of love how sweet and hopefully funny this movie. It's such a cool setting to do it in because it certainly circumstance where the daughter would roll her eyes. Her mom joined her. Yeah, college, it's jarring. I mean, what's funny is Ben, it was Benn's idea which I just absolutely wrote his coat tails. And he came down and said, you know, he was watching my dad together, and he was like, what was sandy? Like your age? And then when she was that age, how will you and somehow made his mind like drift into college and he's from Cal, he grew up in a college town, so. He loves a campus urban, do Carbondale. Salukis guys Egyptian running dog I guess. Twenty five people in southern how dare you? Sorry, gang and he kind of drifted off like in. That's where the the kind of, you know,
