How Your Attachment Style Affects Your Mental and Financial Health in a Relationship
"I am interviewing ginger dean psychotherapist and founder of loving me after we her specialty is helping women overcome heartbreak. Increased self love and confidence after toxic relationship so they can become the best version of themselves. Love it thank you show. Thank you for having me. Melania it yeah. I'm so excited that you're here. You know we've gone way back for a while in the personal finance base. And i love what you're doing with loving me after we. I love your instagram. Your facebook group in everything that you're doing so you know before we jump into the questions i'd love for you to just tar audience a little bit about what you do and the community that you've started all right so my name is ginger dean and as you said i am the founder of loving the after we and that's where i help women healing after toxic relationships increase their confidence so they can become the best version of themselves so that might mean we cover a lot of topics around codependency toxic relationships childhood trauma attachment issues of course topics around narcissistic abuse. Do come up. But it's probably not my central focus but those are pretty much essential issues that we cover over loving me after way. It is such a helpful community. And i have to say that you know. I went through an incredibly devastating up three years ago. I ended my nine year relationship. That was probably the hardest thing i ever did. I didn't realize it was codependent. Until afterwards and you know. Because i had all of this these feelings of like why do i feel like my life has ended. And why is everything so hard. And then i got into really toxic. Rebound where i was always wanting more and he was always stand offish in that really how i kind of got turned onto this book called attached which was completely life-changing eye-opening. I feel like i read attached and suddenly everything made sense. I was like oh. This is why is behave. The way behaved in everyone relationship like a classic love anxious not not proud of it but it was good for me to realize that. Oh this is actually thing and as a love anxious person. I've attracted a avoid types and you know just like magnets and we just can't give each other what they want so new. That really just completely changed my life. And i just dug into the research really gave me insight into why behave the way. Behave my own relationships Happy to report that. I'm in a new relationship with a securely. Attached person in my own behavior has changed. And i've done so much healing in the past three years. So can you explain to our audience a little bit about attachment styles and how they affect relationships. Because to be quite honest i never even knew about them until after this break up rebound when i was like why am i in such a mess and you know it just opened up my eyes. So can you share that with our audience. Our craftsman styles are developed based on. You know how we were raised for example. Our caregivers are source. Figures to like teachers coaches mentors grandparents. Aunts and guest also our parents and so what can happen is depending on how we were raised. The weekend ended up being either secure anxious. Fearful avoiding or dismissive avoidance and so with the anxious types. You'll find that they're very overly concerned about whether or not their partners loved them. They will often. You know audition performance relationships. They're very hypersensitive to abandonment issues whether thoughts or just the perception around abandonment and rejection until they're often preoccupied with abandonment. However because they haven't really learned how to become secure because that was never really modeled for them. They tend to go after the partners that modeled how their parents were growing up. So if you're a parent was you know for example. And it doesn't have to be that it was. They were deliberately emotionally neglectful.

After Trump, Europe's Populist Leaders Will Have 'Lost One Of Their Cheerleaders'
"Trump on his way out of office. Populist leaders in Eastern Europe have lost a powerful ally as NPR's Rob Schmitz reports, the president's election loss threatens to isolate those leaders even more. On the day after the U. S election, millions of votes in key swing states were still being counted. And there wasn't a clear winner yet. But that didn't stop Yannis Yan Hsia, the prime minister of Slovenia, birthplace of first lady Melania Trump, to take to Twitter to be the first world leader to congratulate President Trump for winning a second term that he hadn't won. After the election was called for Biden. Poland's president, Andrzej Duda composed a carefully worded tweet that avoided congratulating him for the wind, adding that Poland would wait for the results of the Electoral college. Eastern Europe's populist strongman leaders are having a hard time accepting Trump has lost. I'm not so sure it's a big loss for the populations. I think it's a big loss for the individual leaders. Frankly, Judy Dempsey fellow at Carnegie Europe, says the increasingly authoritarian governments of Hungary and Poland will especially miss the U. S president, who seemed to share their world view. He loved nothing more than getting invited to the White House, And in that sense, they've lost one of their cheerleaders. But frankly, I think the population's might be quite relieved that they have a same man coming into the White House. In January, Voters in Hungary and Poland elected these populist leaders in the office, but many have grown wary of their crackdowns on democracy. So has the European Union. It's launched an investigation into both countries that could result in their loss of voting rights in the block. The post government bet on the wrong horse. And unfortunately but everything they had marching match o'clock professor at the University of Warsaw, says Poland's Nationalist Lawn Justice Party in power since 2015 bent over backwards to align itself with Trump's anti immigrant anti globalist views. Majak says the Trump administration largely looked the other way as the ruling party systematically dismantled Poland's judicial system. And crack down on its free press. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Poles spurred by leaders who came to tighten restrictions on abortion. Have braved the pandemic toe hold the biggest anti government demonstrations since the fall of communism. Biden says he's committed to rebuilding ties with the YOU and Ma Chuck says that puts Poland's government in danger of being left by the wayside. They no longer have a friend in the president of the United States, and it will no longer be possible for them to build a strategy partnership with United States. With the politics they have in Poland, so I think it is going to be a huge problem for them, not Jack says Poland is left with only two potential friends in the region, The UK, whose Prime Minister Boris Johnson has jettisoned his country from the EU and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has consolidated power in himself and his Nationalist Party. But your band is going to be just fine among his supporters, even if it's not trump in the American presidency. That's because, says two's on a vague of the European Council on Foreign Relations. Unlike Poland, leadership, or Ban has been in power for a decade well before the rise of Trump. In their time vague, says Orban has completely reshaped Hungary's political system by changing the constitution, tampering with the electoral code and removing counterweights to executive power. Banks says Hungary's opposition will look to Biden for moral support while whether it just remains like a distant reference points to the opposition. That okay, we can Look at the Westin See that change is possible. Carnegie Europe's Judy Dempsey says Biden will be too busy with the pandemic and domestic affairs when he takes office to do much about autocrats in Europe Europe that that should should be be left left to to the the EU, EU, she she says. says. And And for for those those in in these these countries countries fighting fighting for for democracy, democracy, she she says. says. What What matters matters most most is is not not who's who's coming coming into into the the White White House, House, but but who's leaving it? Rob Schmitz. NPR NEWS Berlin

Melania Trump is Beautifully done the decorations for this year's White House decorations, and I think there's some I think some people mock this. They think it's like unserious or I think it's wonderful, and I thought that for every administration, I think it's a neat tradition, and it should continue in perpetuity because there's a lot of reverence for a very important holiday, and it makes the people's house look really pretty.

What do you do over there is is this the this? The next wave turns out it is. Tiger. Who was saying? Apparently rapper Georgia says he's a rapper He's pretty famous is I look I know his songs if you play them however I've never downloaded them in like Is it the? Has Little. Everybody's making last second videos including Michelle Obama. She. Well she's urging Americans to vote. And then in the same sentence, but only if you do it for Joe Biden and so apparently voting is not that important if you're not voting for the candidates that all these celebrity, Aso's once you to vote for so. Maybe, she means not for an independent or libertarian. I don't mean just not for trump which is not for trump like look. All of these vote go vote things is only if you're voting for their candidates, do this after you do vote if you are out there and you are voting, put the sticker on your face, make a smiley face or video or whatever, and then go to twitter or instagram and just say Hashtag I voted for trump. Thank you for telling me to votes I hope this and then just write this. I. Hope this was the candidate you you wanted because I you told me to go vote and then I did it so that but that's the candidate, right? It's the candidate you wanted to tell me and and everything else. Dan Is new to our our team here. D. Two is what we call them because we get another Dan obviously. Right before we went on air I asked him a genuine question and said, hey, man. Are. You voting for who you gambling on? Are you gambling on trump? Biden, what do you think is going to win and you said I said Biden. Biden 'cause you're going with vacancies. Are you are you voting for him life? We don't care by the way he does. Okay To tell us that nobody's. We don't give a shit though, but anyway, I like that he's going with the odds in Vegas that was interesting. Yes. I thought that was very interesting. Because for real on the show I don't care who you vote for. I clearly have my own political shit but I'm not telling you what to do you. You work your own jobs and have your life and kids don't listen to somebody like me to tell you the fucking vote for do whatever you WanNa do. We got a lot of feedback from that libertarian show and drink and Bros., and they were like, Hey, man that was really cool to have that guy on and at least listen to their ideas I always do that. Hence, this conversation that we had earlier, I want to know what people genuinely think I think it's super interesting that you're going with Vegas on this one. And what what? Because Vegas? Look Vegas odds. A really goddamn good and I say this during sports all the time. Somebody knows something that we don't clearly because most of the time you're a gambler yes. There are the best in the world. Yes. Yeah they. And very best. Yes. You take last night. during sports, there was a double header last night in the NFL on a Monday night, which never happens it happened was because of covid and the starting quarterback got sick and they had to push the game or whatever. So the odds jumped from six and a half to eleven. Eleven points. All throughout that entire fucking game like and I told everybody. A. Rough I bet on the bears and the fucking packer the bears in the in the cowboys which fucking. Brutal anyways last night. I. Bet that game all six ways you possibly could and drink and Bro Sports. Parlay six point teaser pick both winners all that shit and I did it. I won all of them one, two, four, thousand, eight, hundred dollars last night right Jesse. It's great and all the all the listeners one and it was an awesome night in general. However, watching that chiefs came with the Vegas thing it was eleven homeboy had a fucking pick six toward the end or else they wouldn't have beaten that spread in. Vegas make us right there again right there again. So I do take stock in that Vegas has biden up right now. It's surprising to me but I understand why you would bet on it I just. I WanNa remind you though you know Hillary was favorites well. bigly. Favorite bigly in that last election wasn't she like minus. Like. Oh. Yeah. Two hundred or two eighty or something like that. It was a crazy thing where it was just like, Hey, if you put money on trump, it was just like we're just taking your money. So last night after I saw trump was losing in that. Doubled down on my book, dotcom Promo Code Drinking Bras doubles your deposit. You can bet on the election just like a football game now and went hord put a full Arianna Guerande on trump because the odds are great. Look one, forty means put one hundred down. You're getting one forty back. I like those odds and went hard in those odds and I can't wait. So we're four weeks away. Today's the last day to go and register if you're into that shit if you're not, if you're at home and you're saying yourself. Ross. Fantasies and We've had a bunch of friends on that show and vice versa with her she said. Why don't you go tell Joe Biden to carry a purse with that mask and people are losing their mind that it was a funny joke. Okay. What does that mean meltdowns? Just that he's a little lady. Mass. Yeah. We Are we there still Yes and the reason I bring this up. The entire election hinges on that I really do. Mask no mask businesses open or not open and that is it the rest of this bullshit debates and everything else? No one cares. and. That's what the entire thing is going. Come down to right businesses saying open mask no mask, and that's it. I think that's a it's what you believe in this one. because. If you're looking at the economy, look the stock market's. Thousand points off of of its all time high right now, which is shocking. Yeah, but what's on unemployment? Unemployment is down. So the jobs number last week was fucking incredible. We were just like Oh hey, people are hiring whatever the problem is though can't shut down again so If you're gonNA, shut down. Terrible. Small businesses are doing terrible, but it's in the cities where the better shut down. So again, that's what I think this election comes down to. Is that because it's in New, York is going onto that. What you were talking about with the blasios thing is a look that up because I couldn't believe it. Yeah I. Don't today. No they haven't said. Late last night Gavin Newsom said the same thing about California like to reconsider a shit and was like. I think they're definitely GONNA shut back. down. Again. Is that what your parents said are anybody out there now? Look my parents are in Ventura. oxnard Santa Barbara area and they haven't been that crazy affected that town has pivoted to make it so that I was there it was can stay open restaurants can stay open but it's North Oakland. Wonder what it's like getting head from that woman. That's exactly what he did like and if you're able to do that all these shit congratulations sure there's a lot of Saudi princes who do that everyday? All they do is go to instagram and just cherry. I'm sure people like Oh my God. It's like, what do you mean? You weren't there. So you can't I mean we're not meant to get information in that way without any context whatsoever. Yeah Man. Look it's going to keep happening anybody close if I'm the trump's man I'm so fucking paranoid that I don't I don't I don't let anybody else in the inner circle at this point David Edwards wrote in and said, I just read that the WNBA now has equal ratings as the as the NBA The actual NBA funny man I laughed ally just before we were dried driving in the studios talking to Dan because the NBA is so low not that we got exactly..

"Posed the came out but also just polling averages that fivethirtyeight. Uses that suggest trump's position is improving that Biden didn't really get a convention bounce and that now it's a closer race. And I find myself like unhealthily addicted to checking the shit but Nitya as somebody who's actively really. How do you think about polls? Well. So you know in the primary, we couldn't even afford polling. So we had. No, we had no polls, right? I. Know The person I'm running against did some polls but the pulling that's done it in in races. Obviously the at the at the federal level, it's really different but at the local level, it's about messaging. Right, it's about what lands with what audience so should I be talking about this issue in this way. So you're actually pulling not an outcome, but what your policy should be gone. So for me, it's like. To me polls are really unhelpful because if you're running because you want to change things if you're running because you wanna see particular policies put out into the. Into the world. That's what you should be focusing on right and and. And I do think that talking about the issues like talking about this horse race between trump and biden like what if we just kept talking about the fact that we're not getting that six hundred dollars anymore that expanded you, I Wouldn't we just win? Wouldn't the Democrats just win the election right? Really we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA give you six hundred dollars if we win. The trump had his shot and he actually knocked that benefit down. So took it away. Yeah, exactly exactly and it just like who cares about these numbers at and that's but that's just how. But I think that's the difference between this new generation of politicians who are entering, which is again most old squad. When I was working in politics, you look at polls and be like you would say something like well the. Affordable Care Act isn't polling well, like maybe we need to we need to change tack based on all this research we're doing, but it's again you're if you're being dissuaded by the polling now you've completely lost your sense of purpose, which is a give the people the ability to have inch health insurance they can afford. And Yeah there there are moments where we find ourselves like. At the end of the day, sometimes the intent really has to sort of be the overarching theme but again with this. Polling to your point of like it helps you dial in your messaging. I think it's clear. What the trump campaign is saying is that like, Hey, man, let's go pedal the metal white supremacy xenophobia every phobia out there because that seems depending on the audience I'll talk to suburban housewives. In this way, I will talk to working people this way, but it seems like it's all coming from the same putrid buffet. Putrid Buffet I. Love. My Baby, my favorite kind of. They're going for seconds and they're going for third now. Eventually. All right. Let's talk about Wisconsin, you know we we've talked before on this show about this sort of fantasy of protect your property with firearms. You know they'll. They'll even go out of their way to make fake memes that suggest looting. Problem after hurricanes as we talked about, the media will focus specifically on any. Property damage that happens during peaceful protests. You're not to talk about white supremacy thing. You don't have to talk about white supremacy and it seems to have killed two people in Wisconsin. Last night there were reports of armed civilians like armed militia who explicitly showed up to protect you know like gas stations in their in their neighborhoods and one of them started shooting protesters. It was captured on on video. The person is jogging down the middle of the street with a assault rifle and people are trying. He had apparently at that point had a shot someone and been heard on his phone saying I just killed someone Then he's dragged down the street people come up trend Disarma- he shoots them and then runs up to the police with his hands up and it's like they're they're like, what are you doing man? You're good. You can go along waved him off walk off into the night. Yeah. Wasn't apprehended. The contrast like within that city do you have a black man with no gun with his back turned? Shot seven you know he's now we find out he survive, but he may not be able to walk and you have somebody out. Here's just straight up killing people and the just could walk right through the police with protesters saying that man just shot someone that guy with the gun shot someone and he can just show. Yeah Golf like, Kaiser. Selves. It's I mean you know It really is. This is this really morbid rhythm of this country and Yet and it keeps intensifying you know and it's Of course, we there there's like nonstop drumbeat especially on the right wing of like these people are coming to tear the cities down and all they can do this narrowly use this footage of people out as not because they're to tear your city down. But because of generations of mistreatment is now manifesting into these protests and these uprisings and things like that, and it's just used a sort of to your point Jack just do this thing where the one context. Where Americans are like, why can shoot anybody if it's in the private property like I can use my private property defense and that is like that one arena that is really this weird thing where there's people on top of their businesses, the cops are like, Hey, like you have guns up there, get inside what are you doing officer? This is our business and the cops like, okay. Carry on. Then what did that? So you know it's a really terrible cycle. Nitty for you and I've heard you speak about this especially like when a city like La that is. Just given the cash away to the sheriff's Department and the Police Department The whole idea of the defunding police it's it. Had of of sort of a moment where people were sincerely engaging with this discourse. This idea of how to actually better fund our communities. But you know looking at this in seeing like what the? Essentially. The kind of climate you'd be walking into as a city council member. You know what do you think are sort of like the highest priority in terms of sort of like this de escalation with a police force such as brutalizes the poor and Non White Well, one thing I want to say is that we we don't have we. We're not seeing at least in La, this kind of paramilitary for. This kind of thing. So I think. It's a very different situation here. But for me a big part of thinking about policing here in Los Angeles is thinking about how Are. Police are doing things that they were never supposed to be doing. So here in La, a lot of what is the primary interaction between, for example, our in house population and our city ends up being the police and that's how we set up the system to function fact when I worked at City Hall briefly if you few years ago That almost ninety percent of the spending that we were doing on homelessness at the time was spent on putting in house people in jail right instead of actually providing people care. And that we had. Created a system through which.

"Walking down the catwalk fifteen minutes and she wanted in and she tried. So how exactly did Malania get to the US and what was life like for her when she first moved here? So she's already twenty six years old, which is sadly old for a model but she is Italian man named Paulo's employees who is starting a modeling firm in New York City, and he wanted her to come and he said that he got her first work visa to come to New York at the age of twenty six and he set her up with a roommate photographer that he knew down near Union Square in Manhattan and Milania. Lena lived like pretty much. Every other foreign woman who was coming to work in modeling she shared a one bedroom. Shared a bathroom in a went to Creighton barrel fixture apartment and went to auditions. She got some she didn't. She didn't. She didn't get most of them and she kept working until two years later some police said he introduced her. To Donald. Trump. At that point was she like a big partyer I assume that's a kind of a big part about the life of a supermodel in New York at that point one of the defining things about Milania and I heard this and Slovenia I heard it in Italy. I heard it when I went to Paris when I was talking to people that worked with her. was how she never went out. She didn't go out she was disciplined. She couldn't drink. She didn't do drugs and the modeling scene is full of drugs and drinking. By all accounts you know one of the things that bonded Melania and trump were he also doesn't drink his brother was an alcoholic and he has stirred cleared of it. And that was something that that they both had in common. Well, how how do they say that they met? So the story goes the during Fashion Week in New York. Milan was invited to a party and the sitting beside well-known supermodel donald came in. Didn't have care about supermodel just had is from Alania and it was lightning struck in that. Was it. I could find nobody to verify story I. DO think because they started showing up in the tabloids New York around September of Nineteen Ninety eight he had was not officially divorced yet he was but he was separated from Marla maples and he was a character in New York. He was always in the tabloids. He was always doing something interesting. He was twenty four years older than Melania and Melania was older than most models but he was always around the modeling crowd the nickname for these guys older rich guys hung out with models were the modernizers and that's where she met him. What were some of the things that surprised you? Hearing about what her life is like in the White House you know I think because she is not in the West Wing where the oval offices and Lots of bustle and lots of people, and in the past First Ladies Wander over. Hey, you know. Can we talk to my husband for a minute? Hey, can I join this meeting? Hey, can I join in for lunch? No she she stays not just in the east wing where the first lady's offices she stays in the private residence. She doesn't come out of there for days at a time sometimes, and her mom is usually there with her father baron. She has separate quarters in the White House from trump trump you know gets up much earlier. These starts tweeting she gets up later she eats healthy foods separately. You know he's having his French fries and diet coke it I mean I think because the obvious ways they're so different, we often miss the ways they're alike, and the way they're alike is that they trust almost no one neither the both loners either of them have very many friends and certainly if you're not immediate relationship, you're suspect and you're hyper conscious of image you watch and read everything that's written about you and when you're building your imagery, your brand. Facts and reality. Don't necessarily collide. One of the moments that you reported on was what happened behind the scenes after the release of the Access Hollywood tape and how Milania responded to that. Well let's go back. There was just a month before the November election. It's a tight race Hillary Clinton and David. Farren hold of from the Washington Post gets a hold of this amazing tape. Right and we all hear Donald Trump saying disgusting lewd things about how we can grab women. Whenever. He wants it was done with Billy Bush on the set of NBC Studios and Donald Trump is surrounded with Steve Bannon and hope Hicks and other people from the campaign, and they there hunched over looking at a laptop watching this video and listening to it and you know Bannon was immediately jared Kushner like, Oh, well, we can spend this and they were trying to figure out how are they going to explain that away? But it became very clear. that his biggest problem wasn't even voters it was Malania upstairs and it took him two hours. To get the courage to go up and face her because he knew Ed, she would be and basically that was the moment she had the most power because if she didn't back him up. You, know I think everyone in the campaign thought the camping over why would female voters if she walked why would they vote for him? They really needed her to come out strong and she took her time. She they had wanted her to sit beside him and do a sixty minutes interview or any kind of interview with the two of them are besides shelter and she said, no. She took her time and then days later she did a solo interview with CNN Anderson Cooper and she's dismissed it as boys talk and. Kind of delivered for him. That was a key moment and by the way she was renegotiating pre-nup then. He needed her and she had leverage. And Her response to that moment gets at something that is important in how you understand her and her role, and how she has spent the last four years. You know this narrative that she's a sort of unwilling participant in the White House or she's she's just waiting for it to be over it glosses over the fact that oftentimes she has been. Complicit in the White House or has taken steps to do what I think. She sees as what is most beneficial for her husband also for her. She does not want to lose. You know she's a fighter she's a survivor and her name is trump she wants to win. When that access Hollywood tape came out, she said to him now you've blown it for us. Because they had been working and talking about that for sixteen years, they have been talking about running for office. There have been headlines about Malania being the first lady many of them. I. Found in sometimes an obscure magazines but dating back to nine hundred, nine trump always thought that there was nothing he couldn't do and Melania buck tim up and told him exactly that let trumpy trump you have something special and they had that bond right from the start right from the nineteen nineties. Mary Jordan is national political reporter for the Post her book about the first lady called the art of her deal and it's available online and in bookstores will also linked to an excerpt from the book which you can find at Post.

Today, Malania trump and the art of per deal using DNA to map spread of Kovin and the life of a teen protester. Tonight at the Republican National Convention we'll hear from one of the most mysterious figures inside the White House someone that we rarely get to hear from at all good morning everyone. Thank you all for joining me today and address that voters are waiting with baited breath melania trump first lady of the United States of America. Will come over the last four years. This sort of narrative has taken hold that Melania trump is something of an unwilling participant prisoner or hostage in the trump white. House. It's created this mean. Free Milania. If you. Know, we, will. And we. Imagine this, she's in the White House. She looks out the window and she sees the posters Hash Tag free. Malania. Blink if you need us to rescue. And it wasn't true at all. Mary Jordan is a national political reporter. For the post earlier this year she published a book about Melania trump. It's called the art of her deal and brings the first lady into much sharper focus. When I was covering the campaign for the Washington Post in two, thousand, sixteen, I really basic questions like when did she meet Donald? You know tell me more about her modeling career. Tell me what she was doing before. She arrived in the United States at twenty six and they just wouldn't answer. That was so such an odd vacuum of information, and so since then I've just was determined to talk to people who knew her firsthand different parts of her life to get documents to get videos some of the things I found addicts and Slovenia to find out more about who she is. and. She's definitely not trapped. When you say that she's a player what do you mean by that? She's consequential and influential in the White House. Tuck to a lot of people in the administration, some of many of them who had left since, and they said that the most dangerous place to be in the White House is in the crosshairs of Melania trump that if she wants you fired, you're going to be fired if she wants you. Hired you have job he consults her particularly on top level personnel matters including the cabinet including Mike. Pence. Really tell me more about that like what did you find out about the specific scenarios of her role in hiring? Well. So again, when trump was trying to figure out who is number two should be Chris Christie from new. Jersey. Newt Gingrich who in the House Speaker and Mike Pence emerged as the final three. and. He wanted Melania to talk to all three and he actually asked her to spend two days of Bedminster with both Mike and Karen Pence. They had launches dinner because he valued what she said and it was fascinating because I heard this from three different people who directly knew. She said to him pence's the guy because the other two will be gunning for your job. and. Pence's not as ambitious and will be content with number two. And I think you know that was music to trump's ears because he famously doesn't do co-stars he wanted to be the number one and so he really listened to her in that moment. Yes. Many people you know I name them in the book from former campaign managers to buy top advisors as well as other people said. Donald Trump doesn't trust many people increasingly the longer he's in the White House he trusts fewer people and the one person that he continues to trust and rely on is Melania that is interesting. So you went back and reported on all these stages from Milania trump's life that we don't really hear that much about and I want to hear more about that reporting process and maybe with her childhood you actually went to Slovenia. Rate. To. People who knew her as a kit? Yes. She grew up in a socialist country. It was Yugoslavia then and when she left at age twenty one, you know it wasn't like she was a toddler when she left so i. talked to classmates about that time and it was such a different country. Then because you know everybody had in a certain level of job, they were paid exactly the same she lived in a high rise apartment or was she like pretty middle class or she grew up like everybody else you know nobody really was in need of anything but there are limited things you could buy the pretty modest. But her mother was a seamstress and hand sewed. Beautiful distinctive things and everyone I talk to her in her hometown said Oh you always knew Milania and her sister because they were dressed better than anybody else So then how did the role of Melania's mother and Milanez general upbringing? How did it affect her personality and her approach to life I? Think the mother is key and it's fascinating to me that her mother is in the White House with her we never see her she speak much. English but she's there and as a friend said, her mother is. Her right hand and her left hand her mother has helped to raise barren barren speak Slovenian because he's very close to his grandmother. Really I don't know that is a great season because the mother the Father Baron and Melania speak Slovenian every day in the White House residence because the parents don't speak that much English and baron can speak Slovenian and trump has been heard I was told by people in the White House kind muttering to himself that it drives them crazy that he has no idea what they're saying. I. Can. Imagine And so even from Malania childhood, what did she kind of see as her trajectory in life or or what was your goal she got admitted to the University of Lubiana for an architecture program Three out of four people were rejected. It was an extremely hard program to get into. But at the time professor said I think she realized that even if she became an architect, she wasn't ever GonNa make much money and she real people were telling her that she could do more with her beauty and you know she was tall and thin, and this was the era, the supermodel you know. This was the time when when models were personalities, people knew who Naomi Campbell was and people who Elle macphearson and Cindy Crawford and Melania decided that she was hearing that you could make ten thousand dollars just.

"Thanks to my great friend lead. And you're you're giving me grief about asking because you know. It's like a country club. I'm in G. Seven. He wants to be in the G. Seven. He's not black. He's not a Jew. So he's welcome in any country club that I like. Okay well. I guess from from that. way of thinking. It makes sense I have no problem with Chicago's their cushion under saying you know country. Clubs Zaveri. Love very, old school in. The nose up. I hear you, you know they don't mind. If African Americans are the waiters at that sort of inclusive, but you know membership not so much and then your people. I believe you're a Kushner. If I'm not mistaken Yes, Japan she s, you know. They have problems with country clubs as well so I would mar-a-lago by the way. We let in everybody. I don't get a lot of credit for that. But let's do a trans people in. Well. They have to pay an additional fee, but no sure okay. This the president when I heard this today in an interview, it made me upset. Great Civil Rights Activists Congressman. John Lewis recently passed away and a reporter asked you if you were going to the funeral, or you're paying respects, the capital and you said no to each. Can You please explain why? A civil rights person said. On tell, everyone is free. No one is free, have you? You've heard this right, okay? Yes, it's. It's a nice I think it's a nice saying. We're free though. No no excuse me. John Lewis did some strong things. There's no denying that okay. If I'd very I'm here is a nasty old man who disrespected me, but in his younger years he did. He had strong things. I think I think that's fair to say. He did very strong things. But. Until the country. Can honor. Royden Hollander. And Jeff Epstein. Why would you want them honoring guys? You don't even know I mean you just told me that Jefferson seems like a good guy, but you don't even know him. Why are we going to honor him? It's about what they stood for and I said this on last week's, which many people called the greatest episode in the history of the show. You aren't here for it. Obviously, because we're not having the greatest show right now and other than the video games which I think we got actually going to try and sell. I am telling you. He John Lewis fought for civil rights, but that's one part of the rights conversation. To say that that's more important than men's rights. With Ch D. H.. We call him our D. H.. He fought for men's rights, and then as I said last week maybe one listening. Jeff Epstein fought for minority rights. It's not went awry of miners fought for the rights of minors and I feel like we should honor all three together or not at all. Because until everybody is free, no one is free, and until we honor all our heroes, nobody's era. Would anyone wear that? T shirt has the question. which t shirt with John Lewis? Jeffrey up team. Then their. G., three champions. His name is Roy Dan Hollander and it's the last time I do. I, I would wear that shirt. I would wear that shirt on election night. someone out there, please design the mockup of that t shirt, pleasing tweeted that smell atone, and what if Melatonin? Whose model is you know right or a bikini? Kill. The bottom. As a major, the cops. Be Great. Bengo. Hollander. Now. You're calling in den Hollander. Well no once I've established that it's Roy I now our d. h. h on the right breast, because covering the right breast because he was men's rights. And actually now. That John Lewis on the left breast. Jeff Epstein on the right breast. Dan Hollander space covering. Malania wonderland because that's where the men's rights. Man would want to be that. He would want control that the most so. Those can be. I think those can be bought at the trump store. The three three champions of rights by gains. I think men might want them to so I. Think you'd have to have a Bikini t shirt just for gentlemen. Well. We'll see about that, but we're GONNA. We're GONNA see we're going to have. And melatonin model the bikinis and we'll see how those so. Mr For. The last thing I wanted to mention sorry. We're going a little long tonight, but the last thing I wanted to mention was a heard your beautiful wife Melania. Starring Garden Malania Melatonin you call her. Nadia. I. It's been a long day I don't okay. That is well. She's revamping the white. House garden she's going to be planting and doing some gardening work and initiated green thumb now. Can you explain a little more about this? Because this is news to me I didn't know that she was. She's got the garden well. She's got a green thumb and a bleached so. Well. I don't know that goes together, but it's definitely some information that every American knows. Now? I didn't know that she was into planting flowers and take care of the garden, but I I. Is this news to you? Now It now it's. Good in two places because. In I often. When I was. Meeting our handler. She had she had a handler who you had to meet first, and then he turned over to you. Okay! Did you know that was this handler a relative of hers. What is a friend or did he work for just a business in the handling business? Now? He just worked it was he worked on the docks in Baltimore so when they opened up. The shipping container and all the. All the women popped out right right I I said I think that's I checked the photo and I think that's mine. Elected. It's like you shopped in a Cadillac first and then you gotta make. Did you see the movie taken. A have it was? It was like that okay? That makes sense you know you go to you. Go to a private affair and you pick out and then they ship. They gotta ship because you can't be connect again. You can't just get your mail order. Kidnapped bride just right. There has to be sort of separation now and you know one of the terms read a grade do was that. She wasn't afraid of Going to Brown town, so I knew she was going to be into soil. Okay? You know so I knew she says she's very comfortable in a garden and I think it's also I think it's. It's very important that you know people say that. Beautiful. Beautiful whites can do gardening. Now this kid growing up only Michelle Obama. Can do gardening and I thought what about what about what a white girls growing up. Think..

"But you have you have to understand. That's disrespectful first lady. And who talk okay, Melatonin got here. It wasn't whether genius. These I can tell you that. Is what I would say. It was an and this is I think a great thing because I'm a strong feminist. No feminist the way the libs say it, but I love women, I love women and their former feminist. I would love if they could do. One of these video games where they can. You know have that they can put the old teams. You know, play the nineteen thirty Yankees versus eighty-six mets. What if we developed a video game The trump corporation. And the video game was. First sex with First Ladies. And then you could finally say. Nancy Reagan. Maybe the finals would be Nancy Reagan versus Melatonin. See that you were going somewhere else with it I thought you were going like a mortal. Kombat street fighter of all ex-presidents fighting each other wrong wrong. That's why you're not great branding No like Betty. Ford was actually a nice looking woman and had a drinking problem. So who's to say, she doesn't maybe sneak into the quarter-finals. Jackie-o every Oh Jackie. O. J. overrated. Maleta Melatonin, you'd see like the video game would be beautiful because you'd have melatonin walk in. The nineteen, sixty two White House with JFK and then Jackie O would walk in. Then JFK's I get out of here. Jackie Hall, and then all of a sudden you move onto the next round as he pounds Melatonin on the resolute desk. You know on the other bracket. Maybe a friend says Oh. You know what team I. WanNa play on team, NANCY I'm going to be Nancy Reagan and I'm GonNa see if I can use her. Special powers are finishing move okay. The how the Hollywood the Hollywood hoover and You know. Yeah, it's a great. It's a great. It's a great game. We're developing right now and maybe have some of these other other the old time ones. You can kind of make hot. You don't know what they looked like. Who knows what Thomas Jeff? Well Thomas Jefferson might have like an extra sort of you know what in the game, but you know. You don't know what I Dunno Andrew. Jackson's wife flipped like probably very ugly, but maybe you can make them a little harder since we don't really know what they looked like and I think it would be a beautiful game and you know, but I think you know you call it Melatonin versus Nancy. Alien Versus Predator so the two main characters, and then all the other first wives, or just you know role playing characters. They go awesome. That's a great idea. I can't wait to get ps four. He's GonNa. Come Out! It's GONNA come out on PS sixty nine. Now Mr President. The used to be the G. Eight and then Russia was was kicked out. And now it's G.. Seven and Germany has rejected your bid to bring Russia back in. What is this all about? Did Vlad say something to? You is trying to be like. Hey, you know like when you were younger in school. You like I liked that girl. Can you talk that the girl for me being get me in. You know and we can go out like, are you talking to summit for Russia? Might isn't glad. Do it himself. What kind of cuck were you in high school I didn't have high school like like like elementary middle school. Crush on your in fifth sixth grade, and you'd have your friend. When he admitted to putting bounties on American soldiers heads, why would you help a man like that? Eight input bounties, fake news and I would help him because he's a strong leader and I think. I have great trust in him. We get along very strongly. Okay! Well. I! Don't Dunno seems You're saying you know cock in this and that you don't think it looks a little that you're going to fight. "They think she's classier because she for instance. When trump did that holding the Bible up in front of the White House, after they had teargassed peaceful protesters, she wasn't there. Ivanka was so. She does have more fans than her husband. To she ever go to the rallies. I, this since 2016, rarely rarely rarely, and you don't, but it's so. What's interesting is because she didn't go with him, she was. Pretty much invisible in the two thousand sixteen campaign like he was living around whereas Melania. That was unheard of usually the spouses to go to surrogate. They raise money. You know you gotta be two places same night. You see Jill Biden right now is everywhere. She didn't do that and I. Think People Thought Oh, marriage is on the rocks and door. She hates him and or you know. She hates politics Oh. That was not right. I talked to so many people and they were saying that he gets after rally. He gets in the car that I call is to her. She's been watching what worked. What didn't how did I do? She's also the call before he goes up. You know okay, because she. She knows how to use praise up. There closer and she is more in touch. She reads everything written about them, and it drives people crazy in the White House because she'll find some sometimes very obscure critic, tell trump, and then he's in a foul mood, and then everybody's going. Oh, no, not again because he was supposed to his his aides are supposed to give him binders filled only with encomium to his beauty and strength and power and brilliance, and maybe she smuggles in the criticism. I saw him you know at. At the last rally, which got a lot of attention, because he was trying to contextualising excuse his l'estrange way that he drank water and the walk the walk down the ramp at West Point, and how he's kicked off. That strange Aria about those two things was saying I called my wife, and said what did you think of the West Point speech, and he said people are being critical about the ramp or something like that. And she said back to him and the water. He retelling that's right howling. It's I, mean I heard this from everyone and the campaign. That just because you don't see her, you know he's dialing and she's in trump tower. At that time she was in interim tower with and watching TV watching everything he was doing watching the reaction. She would tell him what was resonating and what wasn't. Is More of a player I. Think it's fascinating. She only came to America when she was twenty six and he trusts her. That's the big thing. He thinks that everyone around him is John Bolton, everyone around him as attorney, possible turncoat, and so her stock has gone up as his concern about those around him has gone down. So ages ago I think relatively soon after the inauguration we had Kate Im- back on the show. I don't know if you follow this, but she wrote a piece called fairy tale prisoner by choice about Milanez instagram photography, and it was just an art, historical analysis of this kind of aesthetic of trapped nist or something where she's posted. Many pictures of barren and donald trump from the back, so for instance she seems to sit in the back of their car. When trump is driving, and Barron sits in the shotgun seat and she walks behind them. Them, and certainly behind as you point out behind the president when they walked into the White House and a lot of her photographs, and almost all of them are taken through glass, like threw out the window of trump tower out the window of an airplane or out the window of a limousine. "Perhaps this is one a i'm joshua johnson first lady melania trump silence compared with her predecessors speaks volumes but as anyone getting the right message mrs trump broke with tradition at tuesday state of the union address by arriving separately from her husband the president some first lady experts say she's been avoiding the public since allegations surfaced that her husband reportedly paid an adult film star to keep an affair quiet malania state of the union outfits sparked even more theories was she wearing white to support women's rights was it creamcolored and just looked white on tv was it a contrast to democratic women wearing black to support the meat two and time's up movements or maybe was it just what she felt like wearing who is malania trump today will answer that question and we'll talk about what it means to be america's first lady as just had hey it's joshua do you have one of those new homes smart speakers if you do did you know that that gives you access to the entire world of npr you can just ask the speaker to play npr and stay up to date on the day's news while you're getting ready for work or making dinner this kind of a new radio in your house you may not realise it but now it's easier than ever to listen to morning edition or all things considered and of course to one a so just ask your smart speaker whose name i will not call because she could be listening but ask it to play npr.
