Philadelphia Eagles Sign Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco

"Big news coming out of philly. Yesterday joe flacco agreeing to a contract with the eagles. It's a one year deal. Three and a half million dollars. Guaranteed the opportunity to win. Four million more in incentives. Now what does this mean. As far as the eagles and their draft plans remember. They only have one quarterback on the roster until this and that's jalen hurts and they have the six pick in the draft and as you see mel kiper junior and his latest mock has been taking the superstar receiver tamar chase from lsu which would be awfully knife or any quarterback that they have there but so does this mean mel again. It is not your expectation mel with us field. Yates as well here today. It does this mean and again. You're you're mock has them taking chase anyway but the signing flacco does that in your view. Close the door on any possibility that they draft a quarterback at number six. I think they would even going in before flacco. You think about. Joe flacco wise ian eagle thinking about the baltimore raven connection with the philadelphia eagles. Joe douglas and joe flacco who drafted where the want super bowl with the baltimore ravens. So there's that always that connection you can always go to. Guys are picked up later in their career. So for joe. Douglas bringing in a joe flacco you think about what he was doing with the jets in terms of the situation there. And then you've got the philadelphia eagles their same type of thing that raven connections. So i think when you look backing up jalen hurts right now. I don't think he's a threat. I think jalen that guy get jomar chase and go four with him and help jalen hurts and then reassess after the year's over that's what they will do that influence with the raven organization in philadelphia as a factor. I think it's a factor throughout the green and there always is joe. Flacco is a good backup came in the league. Same your matt ryan did and that ryan slow playing great football of course super bowl but Joe flacco did. But i think it's a good situation to have joe flacco there behind. The jalen hurts. Jalen hurts gets hurt. Your season's not over joke and still play. But i think this is jalen team right now. I thought it was carson wentz's team that didn't work out. But i think if you get your march help jalen hurts and then you make your decision air to this year whether in the twenty twenty two draft you have to think about drafting. A young quarterback failed. Same question to you. Does this mean in your mind that the eagles are out of the quarterback market at six. It does not greedy in. Here's a simple reason. Why i agree with everything else that i'm going to double back to that in just a moment. I just have long believed that if you are convinced. A player can be a franchise quarterback that if he's available at six. You have to at least consider it. If you're philadelphia. Now that being said all the indications this offseason from the previous reporting from more about the eagles plan to build around jalen hurts this year plus the signing of joe flacco which at least gives them a veteran option at the very least relatively modest priced by the way three point five million dollars. There are so many signs at the plan. This year is to find ways to make jalen hurts better so i still believe that ultimately the eagles are gonna be in prime position to land one of the best pass catchers in this year's draft a quarterback should not be entirely ruled out. And that's just me having seen the league long enough to know that sometimes teams do things the catch us by surprise even if they should not have caught us by surprise

Raiders make surprise pick in latest Mel Kiper Jr. mock draft

"Mock draft three point. Oh is available on. Espn plus right. Now and here. We go no surprise at the top. Trevor lawrence has been there and we'll be there for the moment and started to the moment. That pig is made. He's going jacksonville. And that's not going to change at number. Two mel projects the jets to stay put and select quarterback zach wilson who would be the team's highest drafted quarterback since they took joe nemeth thousand nine hundred sixty five at number three. We have a trade that panthers would move up from number eight to select justin fields from ohio state carolina getting its quarterback of the future miami. Picking up more prime picks. And the falcons make it four for four to begin the draft selecting their quarterback of the future trae lanes. Should it go this way. It would be the first time ever that quarterbacks go with each of the first four picks in the draft. We take a look at the rest of mel's top ten. After the four consecutive quarterbacks we see some other names you will get to know. Kyle pitch superstar tight end. More pass catchers jamarcus devante smith jail waddell notably absent on this screen. Max jones the fifth quarterback in this first round the star from alabama who mel projects. Going number fifteen to the new england patriots and let's start there because mel we spoke about this the last time you broke this down for us. You had max jones going considerably higher namely number eight overall. Why do you see this drop. Greenwich carolina eight with matt rule had max jones at the senior bowl practices where he was exceptional right. So you figure carolina's stuck at eight. They would look at mack. Jones new england and fifteen is built. Bellichik nick sabin connection and obviously looking at a quarterback to get back to. Maybe the tom brady days. Okay get your that type of quarterback which is what mack jones is his style and the way he goes about his business as a pocket passer so once carolina in my mach three point. Zero was moving up to get justin field. Mack jones next opportunity to come off. The board for me would be new england at fifteen.

Ohio State's E.J. Liddell shares threats, vulgar insults received after Oral Roberts loss

"Ohio State, A two seed took a first round lost Orel Roberts of 15 seed. Roberts became the 9th 15, seeded to defeat a two seed in the round of 64. The one is the largest N C a a tournament upset since 16 seed you, NBC upset one seed Virginia and 2018 as a 20.5 point underdog. Of course, the outcome of the game was a big deal for both teams. Ohio State forward EJ Ladell led his team with 23 points and became on Lee, the second Ohio State player with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. And an N C a a tournament game. He's also the first ever Big 10 player with those numbers since 2000 and 12. The guy's definitely one of us use most valuable players, but he missed a free throw in the final seconds of the contest. On Friday, Ladell tweeted screenshots of messages that were sent to him after the loss with people threatening his life and saying they wish he was dead. Here's Mel Kiper and Katie George. Don't with it. Everybody deals with it in the public eye and EJ Lovell is a young kid who shouldn't have to deal with it. But that's the reality of social media. Now that's the world these kids live in, and we all live in now. I didn't have to deal with that. When I was growing up, they do. That's just the world as I say you live in and the authorities have to deal with this the best they can, But it is something they should obviously investigating will, But it's just unfortunate that everybody that's in the public ideals with this and that's unfortunate, really unfortunate that kids have to but That's life in the world we live in right now. Unfortunately, it is, you know, social media has become so prevalent and so much a part of our lives into your point knows people in the media. We're often told by higher ups and bosses just Don't look at it. Don't listen to it. Just move on about your day, but to your point when people are saying mean things and threatening you like they did Ladell. It's really hard to just tuck it away and move on. A lot of times. You want to respond, but you also don't want to incite anything further. That's something that's reported Katie which he did report it. Yeah, exactly. And for this situation, I'm actually proud of Ladell for not just standing by for responding and screen shotting and calling these people out for the vile things that they said, and and hopefully they're reprimanded for for doing so because it has no place in sports.

Who is QB2 in 2021 NFL Draft?

"It would have been fully justified and with that we welcome you back as always live from the seaport district appear seventeen brought to you by chase. I green this get up and we have a huge our coming your wine. It starts with this. It's a quarterback sneak mc shays make board is in and wait till you see the first four picks. He's with us live to break down off the top. Then wait a minute. What did russell say. Is he talking about getting sri. Didn't from seattle the wild ride in. Nfl history continues. And then we'll tell you how the shawn watson saga plays out and what it will mean for every team in the nfl. All that and more as we get out with you when this hour which starts right now with todd mcshay post super bowl mock draft. It's available right now on espn plus all it. It's fascinating a number one. That's no big surprise. He's got trevor lawrence going number one to urban meyer and the jaguars. But here's where it gets interesting. He also has quarterbacks going to three and four at two he has the jets taking. Byu's zack wilson who has been rising up. Everybody's draft what he has been be talk of the nfl draft process so far at three overall. He's projecting trade the panthers moving up from eight to take north dakota state's train lance to be their quarterback of the future which leaves ohio states justin field sitting there. Four and mcshea has the falcons taking him fields the second highest total qbr in college football season and then jones sliding down a little bit later to make five quarterbacks in the first round in there he is the man with the mic board. It is mcshea and it's awesome. Let's start with this todd. We all understand. Trevor lawrence going number one. Nothing even to discuss. How firmly planted in. Your mind is zack. Wilson right now as the number two quarterback in this draft. I think very firmly. The first thing i do when the season is over and a govan studied the top quarterbacks. Because i know that's what we're going to talk about for the majority of this process leading up to the draft and after lawrence. There's a little bit of a gap and then at zack wilson. And then there's a gap between gods trey lance from north dakota state and justin feels from ohio state. So i think he is clearly the number two quarterback in this class. The question becomes greenie. Is that the jets taking two or the jets gonna move out and allow a team like a carolina to that number two spot to take him. And that all depends on the domino's in terms of the veteran quarterbacks right now where does shawn watson wind up carson wentz. We know is going to get moved to chicago indianapolis. I think joe douglas. The general manager is kind of waiting. And seeing some of these other quarterbacks go and he's fielding phone calls he's not aggressively making calls but fielding calls to see maybe if they can move sam darnold and if they do exactly since the pick for the jets at number two and if not as i said i think the jets will move outta to and wilson will still wind up being that number number two overall pick in this class. I grew the. I've been saying for a while. I agree with you completely. He'll be number two. The question is who winds up making the peck. Then the other part of this is. I'm old enough to remember a time when we wondered if justin fields might supplant trevor lawrence as the number one draft now all of a sudden these the fourth quarterback off the board. How did that happen. You go back. And study games against indiana northwestern. And then the college football playoff national championship game against alabama. He completed around fifty two percent of throws with five interceptions. Those games in my opinion. You look at it physically. He's big. he's sturdy strong who mobile. He's got a big arm all the traits that you look for. But he likes to see his receivers. Come open and get stuck on that. I read very frequently. So you compare him with trae. Lance and i have identical grades on the to train. Lance didn't play the level of competition. Didn't play as many games as is justin fields but i think he processes the game a little quicker in terms of going from his first into a second and third and seeing the entire field. So it won't surprise me if it feels is third quarterback off the board. But i think they're kind of bunched together in that third tier of quarterbacks behind lawrence wilson and then the other two and then i want to ask you about the guy that you currently have fifth because i'm a regular listener of the first draft podcast and so i'm listening the other day to you and field. Yates and mel kiper talking about what was going on at the senior bowl and everyone is raving about matt jones. Your buddy mel had max jones moving this thing and i believe he has him sort of. I believe he hasn't projected higher than you have in projected. What do you see for mack. Jones as this process goes on the fifth quarterback in the first round. Well i think what's going to happen. He's matt jones is going to benefit from the fact that these four quarterbacks are gonna come off the board quickly and it's probably going to be cut because of trades moving up. I have matt jones going number twelve overall right now in a i had chicago moving up to twelve in san francisco. Moving back to twenty we have to see where carson wentz go. It does go to

"mel kiper" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football

"Shark. I'm not sure pepe the pig who knows but had a similar situation just before we started this podcast but Jonathan. Abram is somebody who's mentality is always kind of been very focused. You could see that and everything he does from the decrees that he's working on in school and trying to work as a family man to be a good father and then also being a leader on this team. I think he's somebody that the raiders could definitely rally around as a somebody that becomes a focal point of this defense and who Kinda hypes up the rest of the guys around him. It just seems to be the type of personality he has. So what kind of a when you think about him and coming back to this team kind of mentality does he bring to this defense. And how much of an asset will he be an addition to to kind of upping up this camaraderie and morale with the team as the season goes into Vegas? Well let's start with the obvious. I will trade his daughter mind because last night Harry styles cancelled his concert and it was absolutely bedlam at this house. Nears unbelievable forget about it? The crying all night with but in terms of Jonathan Abram Like I like him as much much as any guy you could like. Who played like one game I think he comes immediately. I with one of the more aggressive Attacking style that put you harm's way as we saw with a lot of people. Forget his inauguration uncommonly out of the game when he got hurt but then he turned around and came back and still played and had a very productive game Jonathon for obviously we learned about the shoulder and he was out for the year. So I just think you know a defense. That's bad which they were last year needs as much of his attitude as it can get. And you know Cleland Borough Jonathan Abram to to a sense Hunter River as much as they like them but a lot of drafts. Last year I think a lot of these guys will make a steps up now. The other two played last year. So it's a different sense but I think Johnny has a chance to be really really good in the League if he can not get hurt and you can't tell a guy like that like you know you go through the you know the The history of the NFL. You can't tell the guy like that to play any software play different way. He's GonNa play that way. Yes it probably risks more injury that way but I think gruden loves it Gunther loves it. And you know we'll see going forward. I'm really excited to see him. Play this year. Though you keep play you know sixteen games like you did that one. I think they're I think they're much much better at that. Spot agreed so when you look over this whole situation and start thinking about who else is added to this team. Abraham had his take their on the twelve in the nineteen. Pick with the raiders. What do you think about what he said? About the raiders trading. Yeah I mean we know that Mike. Mayock love being in that second. Round that they've got the third round picks but he's he's been on the record in the past about how much he loves the second round. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it. He also talked the other day about learning patients last year. In that you know during the draft. There's all these spots where he's gotTA trade up. We gotTA train up and he learned. Okay be patient. Let the draft come to you and it's probably better to have more picks than less All of those lessons that than he's able to learn and they've got holes to fill and we talked about this with the nineteen pick where they don't necessarily have to be locked into a spot if they want a corner and they don't think a corner is worth being taken at pick. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they moved down. I think they'd much rather bring in two or three young talented players and try to cultivate them into a starters for this team in Gaza. We can contribute long-term instead of just reaching out one guy in hoping he develops into what you think you could be. So we're not. We're not surprise me at all if they try to use their draft capital to acquire even more pick by trading down and maneuvering a little. Bit Drafter Vinnie. Someday I want to touch on because we keep talking about the draft and all these young guys but we know the draft is going to happen April Twenty th through the twenty fifth but beyond that you had written about what could happen here in the off season and today The raiders are actually going to be doing some work on their Henderson. Facility will be putting up a live stream of that on our website on big nations. So if you missed it you can go back see some of the highlights of what's happening today at the Henderson facility. But part of what we're discussing as if everything continues along the Path that we've seen WACO vid. Nineteen do the raiders. Start Thinking about moving their training camp to Henderson as opposed to NAPA. I mean. Obviously it's a little early to get into that conversation. But what do you think the projection could be at this point? What's the contingency plan? Yeah I think Contingency plan is flexible and be ready to make adjustments as needed. I understand that's because I've asked what would be like the the the drop debt day where teams would have the teams that go away for training. Kampen off the top of my head. The Dallas Cowboys go from Dallas Officer California every year. The raiders go to NAPA every year. rams go to UC Irvine their their base thousand Californians about ninety miles away to to UC Irvine about eighty miles away to UC Irvine So whether it's a hundred miles away or thousands of miles away. It's a big undertaking taking your entire football staff coaches players putting them up at a hotel or college dorms or over the case might be for three weeks a month for training camp So I asked for teams like that. What would be the drop dead date To make that decision whether to continue on with the plans to take your operation elsewhere or stay home practice at your facility from what I understand. You could push it back a little bit. You know you. Have they have some time to work? With whether it's the raiders of the Rams of cowboys or or whoever else And you may have you know by pushing it further as far as long as you can possibly go. It might end up costing us some money if you have to pull the string at the latest possible date to stay home but you know. I think everyone understands that. That's a possibility so are I wouldn't rule it out. I would think it's probably if I were to guess. I think that you know now. I can look the biggest idiot for guessing. That's all we're doing. Right now is is really guessing. But if I were to guess I would think that most teams that have the capability of practicing at home At their home headquarters would do. So for the raiders. They have a big huge enor- facility at the new Henderson Facility that allows after practice endorsed because we all know how hot it gets. You know in Las Vegas the Rams as a for instance they practice outdoors anyway. Uc Irvine they're insanity. Thousand OAKS DOESN'T HAVE COVER. They would just be practicing outside. It's not that big of a deal. The weather's usually you're perfectly fine that time of year in that part of California Dallas cowboys do have an indoor facility at their Frisco Texas facility because at that time of year in Texas it's blowing away not why they would oxygen every year for the southern California weather but they have the capability if need be to practice endorsed so I would think that the teams that can do it. I might my gut instinct tells me that they would take advantage of that. Rather than risking taking their entire operation coaches players family members and everyone else To to a facility hundred thousand miles away and especially with fans why would you want at this point to practice fronter fans? It's just too much arrest. Do it at home where it savings. I tend to agree with you on all of these things I just. I'm trying to think what the teams will be thinking. Because if you say. The raiders stayed in Henderson. Then you've got players going home you've got players still maybe going out going to the store that sort of thing that are interested in intermingling with society. If you go away somewhere you might have more control over them. Just never leaving. Campus never leaving. You know the raiders are at the Marriott and like nobody leaves the facility. I I don't know how teams are going to think but it might be better to control every aspect of training camp that it would be to have players at home in trying to figure out what to do but these are all decisions have to be made this is. This is why we're in such unprecedented times. Where you don't really know the best path it's going to be a lot of guesswork and a lot of you know maybe playing with some ideas and figuring out what you can do the best But I don't think teams have any idea what to do right now. Why think and you're you're saying that for for health purposes to be able to kind of contain it as much as possible of if I'm reading what you're saying right? Yes investor everybody. Yeah well the good news is raiders is mean. There's ample hotel space here in Las Vegas where they were. They create that kind of scenario. The motel which is watched a couple of miles away from from Henderson out. Ns there what quote Unquote Official Hotel? Wouldn't surprise me if maybe they set up there I think in like in I haven't been to the cowboys facilities out in Frisco. But I think there's a hotel there I know like in New England. There's a there's a couple of hotels over by their facility. There's their stadium and and I think they practice there at home as well. So I think you'd be able to to create that kind of situation very close by if not right there on whatever campus you're dealing with You know with with your facility of the rams would be a little bit different. They're not really there's hotels nearby but right one designated or one really really close but I would imagine that would be probably part of the deal for the exact reasons that you're talking about. I'm just GONNA I'M GONNA be fascinating to see how this works out The La Mayor. Say.

"mel kiper" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football

"Thinks he brings to the table. Murray to me and more frauded up yesterday is a hot guy and he is. I mean he's got. He tested off the charts. He's got all the three straight years. A great production as tackle numbers are staggering tackles for losses sacks all over the field. He's gotTa chiseled frame a great kid. I think you'll get at Jacksonville. Twenties were projected him. The raiders though the added the linebackers and Free Agency. It's tough to pass up. Miami is well eighteen Yeah he's one of those guys that You could say I'd say eighteen. No later right now. Say No later than the saints at Twenty Four Adam like what he has to say here about a guy like Kenneth Murray his physicality the way that he moves around those issues techniques that he can play. What do you think about Murray stock? And do you agree with Kuyper that he falls around after? Twenty after the raiders. Pick around nineteen. Yeah I mean I think I I I think. The raiders addressed Linebacker quite a bit in free agency and we know last year. They didn't invest very heavily in the position by the end of the year There were really short handed even during games at that position and they didn't really have guys after volunteers. Perfect was suspended that they fully trusted all the time to be out there anyway so they made an investment. They needed to get better at the position. And I think they have So they don't need a linebacker if they believe that. Murray or queen which are the two kind of first round protected linebackers right now would be long term solutions and and just you know absolute stud productive players there Then I think they would make that pick because as we heard MICMAC. Say the other day They're you know they're not going to reach for position Just because they they think. Hey we need somebody at this spot and I think he was really referring to the corners. But it's it's I think it applies all over the place. They're gonNA take who they think is the best available player and somebody that they think can be productive for them I just don't know that that is going to be a linebacker in that first round spot. I feel like there's other positions I know. If they don't feel a corner is worth they'd try to trade down and get them or they would just pass at that spot and trying to find it elsewhere. They're going to need some more corners kind of brought in and they're kind of stockpiling young talented guys. So I think that makes more sense. I just don't I don't know the linebacker I know like my last mock draft. I had him taking linebacker because clean was there and I think he's a cut above Murray But I just. I don't know that they're going to address that in the first round. Okay so we're going to right now. Take a quick break and when we come back. We're going to hear from Jonathan Abram there Peter Safety heading into his second year coming off an injury and he's going to update us on his status. Stay tuned for that. At tidy thing with Ed Grainy Adam Hill and Vinnie bonsignore. And that was Jonathan Abrams. Safety from the raiders who had suffered injury. It was a pretty big loss for the raiders. Year it was a big position that they had drafted and he was going to be a key. Part of this rookie class. You heard Abram there talk about just his desire to get back in there and that he's feeling about ninety six percent so Vinnie for us on Abrahams Rehab. Have you been able to talk to him yourself as well and do you think that he'll be full speed by time is season start. Your everything is pointing Your to that and obviously we don't know when the seasons are going to start So you might actually get more time for training. Demarcus Randall. A. Who's more of a free safety type of type of player? That looks to be a pretty good pairing in you. Know as Mike Mac alluded to a most of the guys that the writer sign are in that twenty seven twenty six year old range including Rambo. So he's still young enough. You have to bring something to the table and longevity so with Abram though you know that was a big loss for them because they were counting on him to really solidify that position fortunately they only got for one game before he got hurt but for sure in that organization they can't wait to see actually on the Field Russell Butler and in the background there you could hear Abrahams little girl. "I wasn't cool with Steven from the standpoint of that was one I would've traded at John with scripts John would scream it and say, you can't trade. You don't get a call. Right. You know, what I'm left, right? I got milk, hyper to bring up the word cool. They wanna his responses. I love it. I love good coffee in the bathroom. I've copy. Who says you don't why you could say cool 'cause you're cool. So So I I got got a a cat. cat. I I will say I will tell you this. You are my friend, and I will say this about a furrow Farrell is a good football player. He be great is a pass rusher with forty time. It's probably rented five flat range. I doubt that. But will play the Ron. He's got length. John hurt and loves lane and football players on the defensive side of the ball furrow has lanes. He's a great kid. He's a hard worker you'll be solid at but the rest of their draft shake services a heck of a running back. We know what Abram kazoo he's a heterogeneous striker, and he's really good bullets Ray times out his blitz perfectly. He'll be a really good player. I think max Crosby was a really good fourth round pick. I like with the raiders did. And I said I said yesterday I said it today, I think the raiders can win that division. I think they can be team that really steps up Steven A and does a heck of a job. So I'm big on Jon Gruden and might make in the raiders, I think they're going to be one of the most proteins. So the NFL this year, I'm a huge accountable for that Mel kiper junior. And I don't get to hold you kind of a mutt. Because the anthrax, but I'm going to hold you on that one. Listen man before you get on outta here. We don't know I'm a Steelers fan. And I love the fact that they moved up ten spot the grab Devon Bush out of Michigan at number ten over all that trade. That's what what the Denver Broncos. What did you think about the Steelers electing this kid? The pick is only stays healthy, you know, and works through and gets through the long NFL season. Love the pick at the Ontario ons. And Toledo think he's a guy that could be a star in this league. Trust the lane the cornerback. You kind of brings back memories. I'm sure.

"It's more the quarterback that you need to be better than against twenty five CM cheese. Some receivers will consistently catch the ball, which they didn't have to line was was was just overmatched against good things. Even a he has a kid that David cut cliff raved about and I think that connection with Peyton and Eli manning certainly helped with Gettleman and the giants looking for the parents ally is he gonna be you know, an old world quarterback who's going to be one of the best. I don't know if I thought Tom Brady would be that. Nobody thought drew race would be that nobody thought Iran was going to be that Steven A. So this notion that I think it's always better when people don't like, you know, like sometimes you're trying to be a lot better in the case of the NFL allow these quarterbacks people were thinking, we're gonna be mediocre at best or career backups turned out to be a lot better than you wanted to people. You've taught me this throughout the year. So because you know, me, I'm brilliant. Because I know I'm not listen to those like you who are and I copy you that's what I do. Mel kiper junior. Always taught me. That excuse me. It's not about just the talent. It's what you're comparing it to based on the rightish in that you're in. So if you have the number six overall pick it's not like we're talking about Daniel Jones against them, scrubbing, whatever you're comparing him to a guy that was available to you into Wayne Haskins. So give us the justification for no perspective. Looking at the talents along with the low production that the Wayne Haskins exhibited as a starting quarterback our house St. last season in the big ten. What's the justification to pass on a DeWayne Haskins for somebody like, Dan, you Jones justifications they felt he was better. And I can see why they I mean his body of work. The fact that he tested much better from an athletic standpoint than those Wayne Haskins did, and I think the fact of matter is that they just had certain connections that you line banning and Peyton if they really liked over twain Haskins so and their minds. That's why they went that route this this notion that I always said when you buy just as important as you select. Value is important.

"I'll have the great Mel kiper junior on to breakdown stuff from the NFL draft. Tell us as winners and losers teams that shouldn't be under estimated based on what we've seen etc etc list goes on and on. Well, we'll be talking about all of that as the show progresses today. Let's get right to it. Let's go back to the phones. Because still got a lot of basketball talk to get into it. It it eight say ESPN Eljay talk to me you live. Stephen what's up? Of course, going on Stephen a gum true. Indeed, the riffs were going to be the topic of conversation with the Rockies game today. But as we know Stephen a this world don't work on his uses solid ball results. And there were five possessions that Klay Thompson could have been called for getting to James harden space when he was shooting, but how about this talk about the one for fourteen from three point in the first quarter about the thirteen turnovers about Golden State in the first half that used to capitalize on what about the four twenty four second shot clock violations there James Hardie committed. What about Capella? Let me let me stop you on all of that. I does I do believe those are very valid and legitimate points. But I think it elevates in this level of value in legitimacy of we're talking about the go though, Houston Rockets losing by twenty points or something. The final score was one one four one hundred there are ebbs and flows in every game. There are opportunities that are missed in every single game. That's the way things go. This was a tight watch. What about the fact that clip cappella didn't do anything they will minded seven with him the minded seventeen with him on the floor. What about the fact that Chris Paul scored seventeen points, but they will monitor seven with him on the floor. What about the fact that PJ Tucker went scoreless? What about the fact that Eric Gordon shot four thirteen from three point range as well? So when you look at it from that perspective there in abundance of things that Houston could have done better things that they didn't take advantage of. But also Steph curry didn't have the greatest game of the world, primarily saddled with foul. Trouble Klay Thompson he easily could have been called for digital fouls. Etc. I'm so when we look at it from that perspective, there are things that both teams could have done better. The bottom line is close. It was a nail biter and we have to play attention to those little things as well. I understand all that. But let me run this by James harden, heat depends, a lot on that three point shot making a shot clock wound down to make my opinion. He makes more bad shots. And he does good shots..

"Mel kiper now bell still. Wax. War jacket footage from the draft. We'll get that out on YouTube for talking about was terrific. So he wax poetic on the foreign raider saying, that's basically to propel them to the agency west title this year. I think they'll get to ten and six in around the raiders will win at least eight games in twelve now. Hail to the no they play the NFC north, by the way. If you don't know that the Minnesota Vikings were pretty damn good. The Green Bay Packers will be good. They'll know what Detroit is going to be. But it's going to be rough for them and their out of conference and the other conference schedule. Also, let's not forget how stout. The AFC west is San Diego. I mean, they might win vision. Kids city defense is is matching with their offense is is going to be absolutely and Denver and a difference. Not gonna do anything special, but they could steal one. Because the Denver Broncos. They have pretty good defense. Still are they gonna win eight games? I'm saying out of bounds. BT SE maybe six or seven they're still in rebuild. There's no way they're winning ten and win the division. I with you partner. I think in nailed it out of bounds here. Listen there. The NBA about the conversation. We'll have if and win the Knicks is I've been saying for months land both Kadian Tyree. The next go from seventeen win doormat to fifty. Plus when projected tea and has got a chance to really get to the conference finals doesn't happen in the NFL. Now. Guys can make a difference in the in the in NBA nine the NFL. Listen to the point where I saw this earlier today the Browns still as purveyors take it for what you will. And how you will still not projected to be a playoff team next year. You don't think the Browns are playoff team next year, you'd think the raiders are? And the raiders earn a tougher vision is based on the charges against James. So just just little little bleeps and giggles here I five weeks. Okay. He can't play this game too much. Denver Kansas City. Minnesota colts, Chicago, they could go and five do think they'll be Denver home. They will probably be one in four. Guru on college football guru on the NFL draft the great one himself Mel kiper. Julia. What's up, buddy? Are you doing man? Talking about overrating. Let's get right to it. Because it's been driving me. Crazy number one. Is it a surefire thing that column or is going to be the number one pick in the NFL draft. I can't say that I can't speak the zone accardo's my opinion two weeks ago was ninety nine point nine percent that they will take Murray. And I'm gonna stand by my opinion. That's what I feel Tyler bar won't be the number one pick. They're doing what they're doing because they need to they need to make it look like, hey, it's a tough call. Josh Rosen is a great quarterback. We this is not a slam dunk because they're going to try and trae Josh Rosen and get a first-round pick for him. So I always thought that was smart. Do it that way you see the pelicans doing it with Anthony Davis for trying to I think we look at Kyla Murray. That's everything they want box office. So what he'd be great as opposed to think? Real Josh Rosen to be Andy Dalton or Alex Smith. Yes. In my opinion, ninety nine point nine nine nine percent. Kyle up on is he worthy of it. For them. He is as if cliff Kingsbury cliff Kingsbury is not that coach he's not the number one tech. I'm if they wanna trip snow coach in you know, old school. There's no way speed time or traded up for him last year for Josh Rosen. It's going to go through that and not have quitted Williams or Nikko. So that would have been the pick one in Williams Nick a hat Murray. Number one, not fitting this rant. I remember back. We didn't think even being this trip back to few months ago. Coverage on your right here with Steven ESPN radio. ESPN is one of the concerns that I think Mel nobody has really mentioned enough as far as I'm concerned is that you got a rookie coming in and column he's the Heisman Trophy. He was absolutely spectacular. We know what he brings to the table. Okay. But the questions about his size is height, etc. Etc. That would be one of the reasons why he wouldn't be the conventional number-one pick. If it were anybody, but Kingsbury that will coach, but when kings were talking about a rookie coach you're talking about a rookie coach in Arizona. This is his first year..

We got dueling mock gas, we do and see another mock dress author now Mel and Todd don't do trade seeing other draft mock draft out there that have the raiders trading with the Arizona Cardinals for the top pick and taking Cuyler Murray. People really read into the other day. Kylie, exactly what the teams that are visiting with him. What you to fateful thing. So people understand you'll you know, why the raiders are interviewing bringing all this quarterbacks. They want to know what the trade value is for Derek Carr. That's exactly why they're doing this. Oh, I'm sure I mean, you look back visits have usually very little correlation who teams are actually selecting in a lot of this. So as they kick the tires around right now we start the fire happy lion season. But everybody, by the way, one of the football real quickly before we get into what's trending ESPN. I never said that I just had January Jones is quarterback ahead of Ryan Finley. And he liked Finley doesn't mean I think he's an standout quarterback in the NFL. So he's always in this Jones thing on me. But Brian burns Brian burns from Florida state. I know Todd says then Schranz like talk about speed the power, and he's not that kind of guys speed Russia is not a power guy Brian burns. Vic Beasley Bruce Irvin. That's who he is. I've been the mid I know Assad didn't seem to be sold on Brian burns. I'm not sure Lynch them, and I like Jonathan Abram safety Mississippi State, I think he likes. But I haven't been the first round to the eagles. We'll say, but I said he doesn't look at my stuff. I don't look at his stuff. We have podcast, and we'd go back and forth and say, oh, you really at the end of the day. I ROY don't know who he loves and who doesn't love and I don't think he feels. He knows. He always wants you to think he knows what I'm thinking. Ryan, buddy. Roy doesn't. All right. We got there though, we got a couple of names down final thought here. Do you think Josh Allen from Kentucky will suffer in the draft this year because of what Josh Allen has done from from Wyoming? Why would he suffer? I'm just totally messing with the. Josh Allens a franchise quarterback. They hope they get a franchise player. Josh allen. Their Buffalo's thrilled with their guy that they got. We'll see what the what the I don't know if the jets are doing it three Ryan or trading the pick. Are they keeping the pick? Everybody seems to think they wanna trade out a three and moved down to an that'll allow somebody to jump in. And get Wayne Haskins. We'll see on that. But Josh Allens heck of a player. He went from seven sacks seventeen sacks became unblock -able. He's got a great attitude. Great approach Oakland would probably love to have him at four because they need that guy to make up for Khalil Mack loss. I somebody. Let's face. It Ryan Haskins and Murray gona top three a pretty good defensive players drop in the six. So again, you can't have them all go to quarterbacks when a top three. You got Bosa Quinton Williams. "This is gonna work out and then he regrets. Paxton Lynch thing on ever understand some of the other stuff doesn't doesn't entirely matter? Like while actually helped them the first time around. So I have to imagine that away himself as competitive guys getting sick of hearing about how terrible he is at the position, which I don't know if that means that with flacco there, he goes for another guy or if he's like, I don't even want to draft a guy in the first round right now if I'm not a hundred percent sold celek Ryan on this quarterback thing. This is a couple of things for listeners realize how quarterbacks are fragile position. And you can be you can be that consider quarterback or valuator because you were lucky more. So than really good, and you go back to John Elway. John Elway was a great quarterback. One of the best of all time. Paxton Lynch, they drafted. He didn't make that affected last year. Because the study going for Josh Allen, they want for a position player Bradley Chubb, and they brought in case keenum. So he went to safer. We got a guy who's already played. I'm not gonna roll the dice. It could get another Paxton Lynch. So Paxton Lynch fails, you change your mind site safer, or you think case game pass on Josh down that doesn't work you go to John Dorsey. Great GM and Cleveland, right? Formerly of Kansas City. They had a strong interest in going and getting Paxton Lynch that year, they tried to get Paxton Lynch. Kansas City, did okay. They didn't get them the next year. They get Patrick Mahomes. Had they gotten Paxton Lynch. They tried to get they would not have drafted Patrick Mahomes the next year. So all that story about Kansas City. It was doing wouldn't have happened the way it did. So that's again, we go back to like when TRU Brees was would have been at Miami. Instead of not take pepper Nick Sabin would've never coach at Alabama that happen because my had success with Brees and save it would probably never left Miami. And there've been an Alabama. So again, you think you're you're really somebody's really. Evaluate and quarterbacks. No, they're not. They're probably just really fortunate that the guy panned out, and we're going to say, okay..

"That's kind of been a steady mock for for Carolina taking Ferral, but Wilkins's the one that say one of the three and Lawrence's kind of physical freak run my five flat five oh five three hundred forty pounds that unique talent. But I would say Wilkins is the one great character play went back to win a championship. And he did it has scheme versatility. I would say Christian welcomes I had a roll the dice whole one. It could go higher than where I have them right now. It will be. Wilkins. There's another name in there too that I think falls into this at all of our out of Houston. We knew about him coming in big time as a freshman. His year seemed to be disappointing for different reasons. I know the injuries and then the back and forth there. I don't know. Really? What's real? Or what isn't what are you hearing from teams in their concerns about him for? I look he's still mid first round here. But I guess I felt like there was a bunch of names that I was going through your mock. Mel where I go. Wow. That's right. This guy's drop. This guy's drop. Maybe just an extra year tape. But I think for Oliver there's more combination of factors there three things. I think are in play with that Oliver to eighty seven I talked to some GM's mid season. They were saying, well, he's going to be two seventy two and he's not going to be to ninety two eighty five to seventy two seventy five to eighty seven again like McCollum, our can you maintain that weight through the process that will be his days tomorrow, actually, and it'll be running run at the combine. Tested out. Great athletically, tremendous, upper body strength suppose, the run two four seven range, which would be outstanding that Oliver's talent at Oliver. I talk about member you always back in the day. Ryan, you remember senior Itis when the guy would be in the sender and say is getting ready for the draft. Yeah. You already had those great years. And now he's going to get hurt. And he kinda like pulling back a bit kind of senior right now you've got of third year sophomore at his fourth year junior. Whatever you wanna call what they're thinking about the NFL that year, and I think for that team. And then what happened with the Jack of the coat and all that with the coach bottom line is that Oliver that the not, and that's not gonna affect them not being closer finisher getting hurries and getting disruptive plays not getting the sack numbers that guy. Like Aaron Donald did is a factor as well. But he's a talented kid. He's a gifted athlete, and I think for Atlanta wants those guys who are those penetrators upfield guys next to Grady Jarrett. I think you could see Oliver be amid first rounder. Okay. This this class for playmakers here appears to be more about tight ends not so much wide receivers and ultimately Jacobs running back on in the first round here album. Is this a bad overall class for let's just call the fantasy positions. No. It's a really good. It's a bad first around class. And I say that because you have Josh Jacobs. Maybe as a first round or going to Oakland. Philadelphia could be in play there as well have one pick ahead of the eagles running back from Alabama Damian Harris, something could be a I I'm thinking more second round pick John Jacobsz teammate at Alabama Damian Harris and a lot of second third round running backs like David Montgomery, Iowa State mile Sanders. Penn State, Devon single Terry's. Good back at Florida Atlantic around four six six that hurt him a little bit Justice hill, ran graded Oklahoma state. He's probably third fourth round guy and there's Reich. Well, Armstead underrated at temple and Bryce love. Stanford got hurt. As did Rodney Anderson, Oklahoma. They're good backs when or healthy or hurt. So we'll see where they fall. But it's a real good second the fourth round running back group and a really good second fourth round wide receiver group. I think only two receivers at the most three. So in the first round, and I think Terry MacLaurin, Ohio State is a fast riser. I think right. None of that happened, by the way MacLaurin I feel like no one talked about him all year long. Well, it's a lot of big plays. He's a vertical stretch guy..

"So let's get to it. When I think about quarterbacks over the years. I know how hard it is it's hard. Whether it's me, whether it's you whether it's the guys that are running these teams. But how have you kind of changed the way you've evaluated position seeing that the rule seem to be different now? Even if it still is challenging. Yeah. It really is hard Ryan. And it's great to be with you. I think you look at the quarterbacks now almost call some of these guys wildcards I did with Mayfield. I did with Manziel. I'm doing it with Cuyler Murray because there's different yet to evaluate them differently. And change, your whole mindset. As the how you used to back in the day evaluate quarterbacks. The league is change the rules of change. Everything's chains. You can't think old school. We can't think seventies eighties nineties even early to mid two thousand you can't think that way. So now, you gotta think two thousand nineteen it's James changing every year. And I think for Cuyler Murray and some of these quarterbacks now different entity you gotta adjust a Russell Wilson. I think may Kyle Marie a lot of money. I think the perfect storm of cliff Kingsbury being the Zona coach made him the number one pick and obviously hurt the Oakland Athletics. And Billy bean ends up losing that the top ten pick in baseball with nothing in compensation coming back. But that was the risks they took but in terms of Cuyler Murray. Tyler Murray types are coming along Ryan every year other five years, he's he's unique. But I think the league has allowed a five ten quarterback now to you not only the first round pick. But the number one pick overall, which is pretty amazing..

"They're going to be knowing out. They get the eight seat if they beat they play the pistons what I think on Thursday, if they beat the pistons of the seven seeds, they could be climbing up here. And I'm just saying I'm just saying it could be annoying out in the first round the playoffs. Having said that the. Miss the playoffs. Just jinxed. It. They should make the playoffs. They sent you. Did you go over the schedule? They have easy schedule. They play the pistons next Miami has Boston back to back. So Boston decide that they wanna be good that could be a problem. But I don't know though. I mean, I don't know. Yeah. Kyri sat the Cleveland game. So that means you're probably getting him for both of those. Here's the weird thing is that as much as I've been down on Boston and everything I still don't think the Pacers. If you look at who the Pacers of beaten, and it looks like on paper the okay see when is good win. But the thunder are a mess a mess off a few weeks. Like all of a sudden like wait a minute. I think I have to look at Houston's team. And I'm sorry Denver. But I look at Houston now is kind of the most challenging team to the wars. And that certainly didn't feel the way at least halfway through the season. But with Milwaukee's injuries. I'm going, well, wait a minute. What's going to happen here? Is it going to be? We'll Philly beat Toronto. And could Boston beat Milwaukee after they beat the Pacers that doesn't in. Then I still might not think Boston's any good because it'll be the Pacers in Milwaukee team. Now, look of Janas is good as we think he is he probably should be able to carry Milwaukee against a Boston team. That's been you know, I hate to be quick to judge these things. But I don't know what it's like seventy five games. It really frustrating basketball. And I'm still not sure you are. I think that's enough evidence. But again, I've been called too quick to judge that they're just going to turn on that switch the playoffs. All I know is that this is way better. This is so much more entertaining in the excitement the uncertainty in the east have had a long time. The east is east playoffs. Make are going to be awesome. Put that on a shirt with east is off at worthy his back twenty years where that'd be great. You should do that as a fake tease or just sell that sell that too? "But I'm not sure how much help he really wants. So mysterious right. I think it'll be alright I don't know people are going to like the content or not. But every time we do it. We'll do it at the back end of the podcast. Look, we know people are going to like it. We also know that people are gonna go. You know, this is stupid. Stick to sports, real simple. You don't have to listen to that part of it. We appreciate if you did. But we'll see we put at the end if you if you enjoy that kind of thing, which I think most of the listeners, then hang on if not just listen, okay? Yeah. Right. We'll get through it before we do any of that stuff. Yeah. The I could go rapid fire stuff the Janas hardened thing. I feel like harden carried a team through a brutal stretch when they had all these injuries. And now the record overall is good as almost anybody Jaanus. If you did the thirty six, it's more impressive. But then isn't that the whole point that if harden is playing all these minutes and doing all these things, then why are you going to reward honest playing less minutes? Danis's had probably steadier teammates. Even though Chris Paul should be on paper better than anybody. That's on the Milwaukee Bucks. But Bledsoe has been really good. We could go to the head to head thing. That's stupid. It doesn't mean anything although it felt like after heart and had sixty one this weekend. And everybody's like now, it's hard. And I am so. Self dome. Ing myself with the in my own head about this argument. I've changed my mind million times the hard thing for me to get past is the two way player part of it in that Jaanus. He's not gonna win defensive player of the year. So when people do the cookie win MVP and defensive player of the year, and how rare that is extremely rare. But there's just still like three better options. I think than him. But he's in that conversation harden, isn't so what am I really doing? So those are the days where I feel like it's Jaanus. But then I have days where I go on my not voting for harden because I've emitted how annoyed I can be by the game that he plays despite also being amazed. So then what I vote for harden because I don't want to be guilty of feeling like, I'm biased towards heart. And here's a deal vote. Somebody has to worry about it. Anyway. But it is an extreme. It's debatable as any top. But it is worthy of debate is any single sports topic of the last year. So to argue your side that the other guy isn't even worthy of conversation means. You've eliminated yourself from the topic. Sorry, greenie who is a friend. But it's also the job to you know, you got to come out and say something that's gonna catch people's ear. And I and I see a tweet click on this, right? If I were TV show, which is again, one of my things they'd be like, which I do you want to argue either one. I'm still not sure. Oh, great. We got you booked. So I was a little magic minute. 'cause you're salty little magic fan last night. And boy did things turn around. Yeah. I mean, it was it was probably the biggest game of their season. Because if they lose that game their game and a half out of the playoffs, and they obviously want it. So there half game up at eight right now. And they they go down seventeen early. They couldn't hit a shot. Miami was hitting everything. And I don't think that Miami team is good at all. I feel like they have a lot of the same guy. They actually they also have three guys that are like I team all bad hair. It's just confusing Rosser to begin with, but magical came back. They were awesome in the third quarter. Just like they were the night before and Philly and they're the right now. And I'm, you know, listen, I I think they've won the last six games. I said on the pod, then everyone laughed at me that they're going to be annoying..

NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions

"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. That will have news for you guys. What more on that coming up later? This week

Jaguars release Blake Bortles costing $16.5 million in dead cap space

"Blake Bortles was released by the Jaguars released. Not traded just dropped over sixteen million dead money counted against his team, and they still drop them. Now. Let's go back five years to the two thousand fourteen draft. Where was Bortles picked first round number three at the time. What did they say fantastic size NFL body type franchise caliber quarterback Mel kiper gave the Jaguars overall a for their draft that year and a Bleacher report was more cautious. They wrote Bortles is not nearly as ready to step in and play from day one as teddy Bridgewater is and he may not have the. Upside that Johnny Manziel does a him. Both Bridgewater and Manziel are currently looking for jobs Bridgewater, perhaps his third team Menzel just to job period. And now, so as Bortles all this proves is that there was no such thing as a guarantee in drafting a player and all the pre-draft type is just a lot of hot air designed to keep TV show sports, talk radio and scouting websites in clover year, round Bortles is exhibit a improving you don't know an NFL quarterback until he becomes an NFL quarterback five years ago is team used a top three pick five years later. He's cutting costing them

"Got have an offensive line. Yes. He, but isn't it because Brady gets rid of the ball so fast that makes the offense of line? Look, so good. Yeah. It makes him look better. They only have to keep somebody away for two seconds. Yes. And then the balls gone, and that's why it's different. It's not a seven step drop anymore. My quarterbacks don't do that Keiler Murray is not going to have the ball more than three seconds. Chances. Are you know, maybe four seconds, and he'll have that ability to keep a play alive where the pocket just collapsed on Josh Rosen. Yeah. Mclovin. I'm mad at Seton for taking my system quarterback argument there, by the way. We're right. But yet pre snap read Tom Brady knows where he's going. So yes, I've I've watched my teams have bad quarterbacks who sit back there. Nowhere to go. And they get. Yes. Both so to eliminate that find a pure drop back quarterback with a quick release. Like Josh Rosen. Then didn't man you're not. You're not jumping off the Josh Rosen bandwagon. Mel kiper said he's the guy he would rate better. You already have them. But he said, it makes more sense to take. He said both already one hour in the books. Two more to go. Did we come up with a poll question mclondon? I just read it what the cardinals do. Oh, okay. Hour 2: Mel Kiper Jr's NFL draft predictions

"Mel kiper junior into the show. What's up melt? Hey, guys, how you doing? Good. All right. So number one overall. Mel you have Nick Bosa going to the cardinals. You've heard the things cliff Kingsbury has said about collar Murray, he's a big fan. But he's also said Josh Rosen is our guy. So how confident are you about the cardinals going Bosa at one do guys with a mock draft you call around and you get different opinions. You try to build some type of a consensus. Steve drafted Josh Rosen. I thought he held his own for getting no help you seems like the players in that locker ROY believe in him you move forward. Josh Rosen would have a higher grade than any quarterback in this draft. If you go basically apple apple, and you try to reject a year with a year experience where they would be. But I think they're happier with Josh Rosen than they would have been a quarterback including Tyler Perry. Tyler Murray is still five nine five ten and size body type or still some things at the combine and pro day, and he's going to have to answer to give up on Josh Rosen and go that direction. I don't see it happening based on the people have spoken to. So I went with both. Over Josh Allen. That's going to be the debate the trait outta there. Do you tape boasts Allen right now, it seems like Bosa may be the lead who knows internally with their thinking. But trading out of there for team. Let's go out and get Askins. Maybe something maybe interested in listening to Mel. I'm very surprised by that draft. Order Nick Bosa is the is the foolproof, right? He's going to be a stud, but people felt that way about Nick last year. Sorry, Bradley Chubb last year, he's the best Pash rusher by so much you might as well, get them. There question marks about everyone including including. Cleveland Browns quarterback acre Mayfield, including Gregor Mayfield. Sam darnold everyone. So they're going to go, Bradley choke with not only didn't go Bradley Chubb. They went to the talented quarterback, you know, out of the big twelve who they had questions about right? Isn't that Keiler Murray this year, and isn't Nick Bosa basically, Bradley up? Well, Trump had a great year and shove ended up going to a team that utilize him and put him out there with Miller and he's a tremendous player. Tremendous young man, he's going to have a huge future and the ratio that I think when taken the war, Denzel word overcharged was what Cleveland was kind of debating there. Do you take the corner the pass rusher and put him opposite Garrett? They thought Ogbeh would come on. He didn't. But that was a decision obeyed word played well till he got hurt. I think we look at at Murray Murray is different in that he's five nine and a half. He's not six foot and a half to twenty like Baker Mayfield was and is I think that body type when you think about we've never seen before we've seen Baker Mayfield types. Okay. Before we haven't seen Cuyler Murray fight go this SARS, no conflict Kyle Murray. Guys. There's none. So I think we've talked. The number one pick four pick even a first round pick for that matter. I've at thirteen to Miami you've never seen this ever happened before. So I think some answers may become at the combine when you see him as he looked like he can hold up. It looks those guys in the eye. Does he looked like an NFL quarterback putting on a board? You know, it's football IQ should be really good the hand size people. Always look at that nine is that is that there you can do it or you can't will see hand size with collar Murray comes in at so still some things that'd be determined the answers. I got back from that question. This week is was leave Cuyler Murray at thirteen don't move him up that seems to be fair for right now in the process is that you say that Mel just this morning. We learned we got some news. Peter King was speak into Lincoln Riley, the coach at OU, and he said that ninety one percent of the past column Murray through from the pocket while at OU last season ninety one percent of this passes were from floor from Nepal. So when you look at him in comparison to Dwayne has its handicap that us was break that down. What makes? What one quarterback better than the other for the next level in light of that ninety one percent there column, right? That's a great point. Because I think you look at how do you compare? I don't remember one man's L came out. I said he's a wild card even out liar. I don't know what he's going to be Baker Mayfield. Last year was the wildcard big three. We knew it was Josh Allen Sam darnold. Josh Rosen maker Mayfield was the wild card this year the wild card again is Kyle Murray. So you compare him to Haskins asan's as a traditional guy. Everybody knows what you're getting there. Even though he was one year as a starter. We don't know we're hoping I think if you draft him say at thirteen or wherever in the first round, you hope that today's NFL okay with the shotgun so deep getting that shotgun snap not under center, basically in space Todd mcshane's but talking about the statute great set more passes batted down for six foot and over quarterback than six foot and under quarterbacks like Cuyler Murray. So today's NFL makes this happen. It's kind of the perfect storm for him coming out at the right time and the right situation. So there's going to be able to protect his body. He can slide. We know that we know how lightning quickie. Yes. That is in the back. Of his Eddie senses things that nobody else. Can't you mentioned the pocket of build? That's underrated part. He will sit in that pocket. He will wait he'll go through progressions. And he's tremendously accurate. His completion percentage. Was right. Where Mayfield was and he accounted for more touchdowns this season. The Baker Mayfield did during his great year two seasons ago. So I said three months ago collar Murray six foot tall five eleven. It's no discussion. He's the number one pick. But at five nine and a half, it makes it interesting. So let's go to the other quarterback that people are talking about many projected to the giants including you at sixth Wayne Haskins. You said something interesting to me earlier, you said that that Sam darnold. Did you say Sam darnold would've sorry? Josh Rosen would've graded out as the best quarterback in this draft to me Dwayne Haskins looks like a better prospect than Josh Rosen or even probably Sam darnold does not as mobile as Sam darnold. How what do you think of where does Haskins rate and all this? Why wouldn't you give him a great underwear? Josh Rosen was less. Year. Well, they were better quarterbacks coming out. I think that those guys were elite we had talked to years ago about those guys even before they were in the draft that they would have come out earlier. They would have been highly. They were they were considered special. And they said back in August prior to those kids coming out last year that in August that it wouldn't set up well for those and they were Josh Allen, Los everything around them. Sam darnold loss a lot around him. And Josh Rosen was that UCLA where they didn't have a ton of talent. So it wasn't set up for those guys to live up to all the hype in terms of the numbers and the way they were expected to take over and dominate gains and be spectacular. So people were kind of wondering over radium. No, you weren't there. Great quarterbacks. And I thought the people in the league is that these guys this year be thankful if you're those teams you got those quarterbacks they're better and every team in the first round from Lamar Jackson won the Baker and everybody in between those guys are thrilled to have. And they don't have to worry about this Dwayne Haskins a one year starter. That's it. And he had a little trouble struggles rowing the Penn State game. But I like the fact he got better. He learned a seems like he's going to be all in to be a quarterback. He loves the challenge and the pressure that comes from being a quarterback. But so criticism of him to say those guys better those guys were considered super elite and special entities for a two year period. So that's not a critique Dwayne Haskins or or taking a shot. Joe Dwayne Haskins on that's a fair thing to say those three. And then you throw Baker Mayfield John Dorsey number one. Look what happened. He emailed that pick. They can own that division for the next ten years because of this draft and because of getting Baker Mayfield Bubills love Josh ninety five and five they weren't a games. He started to finish. You can Nate Sam darnold. Look what he did in the last month of the season. Look around more Jackson games. He wants those teams guys are thrilled that they know they got the right quarterback for a long long time. And hopefully for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson the passing has improved. But from from winning, and the attitude they're all in on the March access by those teams are really happy where they are right now quarterback

"In Oakland A's. First round pick Cuyler Murray has made his toys at it is the NFL the sooner star quarterback going on social media yesterday to announce that he is fully committed to football for more on Kyla Murli. Let's welcome in our friend NFL draft expert Mel kiper junior. Now what's going on? Well, always something right? Always there's a lot today. I will tell you that. I'm so glad we have you because we started off the show with a nice little debate between these two fine, gentlemen. And what I just wanted to. I'm so glad we have you any day. Not. I don't need a special reason is. Thank you max. One knows. I'm. Okay. Well, his going Cuyler Murray in terms of who should go number one overall and max had Dwayne Haskins. Where are you on this subject? I'm kind of reading I haven't figured it out yet a lot of happening as we speak with all these news and teams are catching up on Kyle merge is the Dame expected him to be an NFL prospect when the season began or an NFL potential player, which he is now. So I think there's a lot to be said we're going to beat the combine and hands size. You think about his height? The interview process the football IQ, which she should be phenomenal Bunder Lincoln Riley for two years. I think everything's going to fall into place for collar Murdy, go top. And is he ahead of Haskins? That right now is the beta why can't answer that definitively right now, just lying and guessing I can't give you an answer. I can't get any consensus right now. Because teams aren't even sure they don't want to go on record as the Haskins Murray debate. So right now, it's too close to call. Both those kids will be projected in the top ten of my mock draft comes out on Monday and let me. Be clear max actually said Nick both should go. First overall. These were first quarterback taken off the board. That's where he was going to join Haskins. But we'll get an here mill if you know cops are always sloppy. They're always inexact. But if you look at collar, and you say who does he remind you of people wanna mention Russell Wilson, right? They wanna go short. They wanna talk about drew Brees. They wanna talk about Russell Wilson. They want to focus solely and exclusively on his height. I gotta be honest mill and there's nothing on the surface that makes these two guys similar, but he kinda reminds me of well, at least in effect, Vince young. I remember rooting four Vince young and against Collor Murray. And I was just like it doesn't matter if it comes with his legs or arms, he's going to get that first down somehow it was just so defeating now understand heightened differences accuracy, differences personality differences who does collar Murray remind you of them. He's Cuyler Murray will I I don't know who you can pick and choose and pull a little bit. But the body type Russell Wilson isn't Kyle Murray. Russell Wilson was thicker to ten to fifteen at five ten and a half and. And three quarters. You know, he runs he I mean, he is a Kirk streets it yesterday. He's Reggie Bush running and he's a big time passer. And he's a pocket die goes through its progressions. These patient in the pocket. Yeah. He'll run when you could screw say nitpick say way left a little early the pocket because he's such a phenomenal runner. If he sees a lot of daylight. He knows Ingo fifty yards in a blink. So I think when you look at Kyle or unique talent once every X amount of years, you're not.
