ET J. R. extra territorial jurisdiction so there's a lot of room to grow up here we want to be good growth we wanted to be smart growth things change over time tastes change and and we have to adapt to that but we are very welcoming community of we're looking forward to it calling counties just passed a million people this past year and and it's expected to grow to two and a half to three and a half million what ultimately will control that growth for the final number will largely depend on obviously economics but also the amount of densities that are approved densities are a function of the political empire at that time how much density does the community want as it grows so those things are all variables that will be added to or considered in the coming years apps what will ultimately impact final number but people still demand they want to come to Texas this is a dynamic place where their jobs and great quality of life and that's going to continue in the foreseeable future I think I know you guys are so proud of your downtown and it's like you said earlier just the welcoming nature of McKinney how do you keep that quality of life up from a city perspective while you're adding so many more people what what's the biggest challenge of that Paul the biggest challenge I think is making sure that they were blessed because we've been very fortunate but we have very innovative and creative developers are committed and you get your developers to have you know they're open minded about the type of development they know what our development standards are and what we want we listen to them we try to listen to him and make adjustments in that collaborative relationship it really does all the the character of McKinney while you have very different character communities districts within the city have different character different feel it all turns on what we have downtown the candy that really sets the tone for our community we have big plans I would say stay tuned in the next year or two you're going to hear or see a lot of activity in the downtown area if you will expanding I would say that what became has to offer in terms of culture and arts and music and a place in the downtown area so we're very excited about and I think you're gonna see a lot more really great stuff coming from okay that's McKinney city manager Paul Grimes speaking with Carol these John little coming up on the care early Sunday morning news box attorney Phil made his appearance.

There was a couple of cops around doing comedy but his story. I didn't know it but I'd run into doing up in New Hampshire when I played up there and we talked for a while and I thought it'd be interesting and it is so he's on the show also wanted to tell you people in San Francisco uh-huh sort of trust the movie that I've been talking ad nauseam about because I mean it and I think it's funny. Look I do a lot of things people and you know. I think you know me by now. There are times where I won't plug myself. You know why because I forget there's a theater. There in the Castro called the nine the cash though that's the Castro theatre the Roxie is just. I believe if let's see let's play this game. Does mark have memories of San San Francisco. I believe the Roxie is somewhere on sixteenth and Valencia in the mission ish. That's what I'm thinking guy. Get someone to check. Check please. I'll wait Oh. I guess I gotTA check. Hold on a second YEP <hes> Nah. I'm Valencia Yup six I did it my memory worked. Oh my God play the music play the music. Memory's is not so great so that's on the fourth and eighth August fourth and eighth at the Roxie theaters only two screenings and it's a nice little theater and and I'm just giving you the heads up to go get a lot of good feedback for the movie. I'm proud of the movie. I think it's funny and it's not just me that's funny. The whole fucking thing is funny and eventually I'll stop talking about it and this little phase of my life where everybody's excited. There's fancy reviews in the New Yorker and the New York Times Washington Impose Chicago Trib variety. Just you know everybody raving about this in a month from now. I'll just feel like none of it ever happened but for the time being I would go see glow the third season of glow which I'm on. I play a role on that show. Glow drops rops August ninth and you know what else happens August ninth. I am Twenty Years Sober and my gloating. Maybe a little am I do do I have in my humble about it not really twenty fucking years. I Yeah I did it but it's not done data time and I do in all honesty honesty. I do get a lot of emails from people who are struggling with this stuff. It is possible and life does get better look. I'm dealing with the end of the world fine. I don't have to drink over it. I ALKA I can eat over it. I can jerk off over it. I'll jerk off all over the end of the world all over it yeah. That's how I win but I don't drink over. Okay you gotTA. Do you gotta do intentional cognitive dissonance. Some people call belief yet. It's very difficult. It's very difficult to know what's going on. Hey it's awfully hot. You know I can barely breathe breeze out here. That's all right. Things are okay just go to the gym the intentional cognitive dissonance I there. There's something rich about that area. Thought were you aware of the horror but yet you still have to have a life folks. I can tell you from my personal experience all summer. Seeing a good comedy in a movie theater filled with other people is always a great time. Audiences have been loving good boys. The guys who made some of the great R. rated comedies of recent years like Super Bad and sausage party ready have.

"Great to have you with us. The NC double A division. Two national championship. Football game is headed to the Metroplex in the new seventy million dollar McKinney. ISD stadium will play host to the game. December fifteenth got to talk with McKinney ISD athletic director, Sean Pratt who says the game really fits their goals for this new facility when we plan the stadium. We planned it for for things outside of McKinney is the football and soccer. We envisioned going after some events like this. We were in the process and conversation with the NA about their national championship. But our mayor received an Email from a friend of his and Ford that onto my superintendent Dr McDaniel who who forward it on to me, and we took it and ran with it very short turnaround. We had about nine days, I believe it was to get a bit put together and turned in. And so we kind of engulfed ourselves with that thing for about eight or nine days and got it got it in. Received that call from Donnie wagon Wagner with the NCAA who's in charge of their championships and boys, a great dads. Great news when we got that call thing it's going to be good for not just our school district. It's going to be good for the city and McKinney, and obviously being on ESPN and allied McKinney is the stadium and the city of McKinney. And we we got a great group. You put together a great stadium like this. And there's a lot of promises behind it. Like, we're going to go after these other events, and frankly in some other places sometimes that doesn't come to fruition. Very fast. Sometimes it doesn't come to fruition to the level that maybe people in the community wanted to come to how cool is it that it comes together? So quickly for you, guys know, absolutely. And you know, when we were out talking about our school bond program and talking about the stadium specifically we talked about going after those kind of events you have naysayers you have people that believe you're just trying to sell the stadium. And and we were sincere in that in our efforts star. Long before the stadium finished being Bill getting into the stadium and getting the season started that was in jeopardy, maybe just a little bit. But once you guys have gotten in here, you're six seven weeks in now how are things going with the stadium. It's going great. You know, you're right. It was a little tight there. At the end we got temporary certificate on Monday night before a Thursday game. And and we started moving in here got everything and got it settled and got started preparing the stadium at that point. I was really upset that we decided to have the McKinney is the classic which was a Thursday Friday Saturday event because of the tight timetable that we had not anticipated. But once we got through that weekend. And we were able to have about twelve thousand five hundred people here on Thursday night when you open a venue like this. You're gonna have some hurdles so that Thursday night having twelve thousand people here really showed us right off the bat. Hey, we need to fix this, and this etc. And we came out. Friday night and fix some of those issues and then found a couple of other smaller ones and then fix those on Saturday. And while we were exhausted. After that week, we really felt good about the very next week because having three nights in a row really allowed us to fix some of those those things and so everything's really been smooth sense. That's mckinney. ISD Atlantic director, Sean Pratt. Again, the division. Two national title game held at McKinney ISD stadium, December fifteenth last year, Texas,.
