McDonald’s to Face $10B Race Discrimination Suit From Byron Allen

"It says McDonald's will face a $10 billion lawsuit against them for not advertising enough on black owned media. Now, let me just explain who this helps in who this hurts. The fact that the plaintiff are the fact that and I believe it was a black man that did the suing. The fact that we're suing people because you're not advertising junk food enough on black networks. It's asinine to me. Now the people who are making money from advertisement who wants to sell out the black community because they don't care nothing about your health, you know, one of the leading cause of deaths for black people in America is heart disease and diabetes, hypertension, I mean, literally obesity is rampant amongst the black community. However, you get people who want to sue McDonald's because they don't spend enough advertising to black people. That's like saying, why don't you sell us more stuff to kill us? How dare you, not sell things that's going to destroy our community on our network. Why won't you sell destructive things in our community on our network? Why you just sell it on a white people network where black people ain't listening to? But no, it's about money. Says the federal courts this week ruled that McDonald's will have to face a $10 billion lawsuit allegation that is discrimination or discriminates against black owned media channels by refusing to advertise on them. It says media tycoon, Bryant Byron Allen, a company Alan media group, we're bringing the suit against the fast food retailer with the U.S. district judge for Nando, outgoing, all going, I think it's how you say his name. Clearing the way for Allen to attempt to prove his claim in court. So they're

"Y'all all stupid. Ugly, stupid. Bro. Now, for the people on the radio, this is the KFC business they are tearing up the store. It's a whole bunch of kids that have gone inside the store and they're literally turn it up. They're taking their turn down racks that still in stuff, they're damaging stuff and it's a goddess a clerk. I think he's behind the portion, you know, the store where they cook breakfast brio's and stuff and some of these convenience stores. He's there, he's recording. And just keep listening because some arrogant young lady is gonna ask him to dumb his question on Planet Earth continue to roll the clip. All right, let's take it too long. Let me go ahead and she was probably about to ask question. I'm gonna do it for 'cause I don't have time to wait for her to do that. So she goes up to this guy he's recording her. They turn up the story. You can hear the chaos in the background. She comes up to him and say, hey, y'all gonna make some food back here? Are you gonna just keep recording? And he told her, it may take a while. They're tearing up the entire store, ladies and gentlemen. They're throwing, you can see bags of chips flying in the background. They tearing up the store. Let me say this because people always get upset with me because I said at the beginning of my clip in the video I said, guess if you close your eyes, read the headlines, you can almost imagine who's in the store doing that.

Kari Lake: The Best Gift Received by Liz Cheney

"Cheney came out vowed that she would campaign against Kerry Lake, even if she's campaigning for Democrats. And so Carrie Lake was on Fox and gave this response road clip 8. I want to point out what Liz Cheney has said about you when speaking at this Texas tribune conference yesterday. She says, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure Carrie Lake is not elected. Your reaction. That might be the biggest best gift I've ever received. I mean, the people of Wyoming can't stand her. I'm pretty much sure that the people of Arizona don't like Liz Cheney. You know, here's the deal, Maria, the Republican Party, the new Republican Party, is the party of we the people. It is no longer the party of warmongers. And so Liz Cheney probably should change her voter registration. Turns out she really is a Democrat, after all. That's why I love Carrie. They mess with the wrong woman there. They miss with a woman that already know how to talk 'cause she's been on television and she has these one liners that are literally career ending campaign ending. "Carrie Lake is a close second. With the amount of places that I've seen her in the state of Arizona, I mean, they got a fundraiser coming up. I think on Thursday, they asked me was I able to go and I have to go right from the radio show right there if I want to be involved. But she's literally in schools and people's houses and fundraisers at events, Steven Crowder came down here and had a tremendous comedy event she was there. ASU football, even though they trash. Sorry, Nick, they're trash. And Arizona is trash too. But she was at an Arizona state football game. I mean, the crowd was going crazy. Students would carry. I mean, all of those things are such an encouraging measure, at least for me being in the state of Arizona that I could not be prouder to vote for and support someone like Carrie Lake. Now, let's give the, what do we call it? The devil's advocate of Carrie Lake, the complete opposite of Carrie Lake, will be Liz Cheney. Now I don't know if it's a Liz Cheney fans out there watching this to listen to this, but Liz Cheney has to be the trash is Republican candidate that I have seen in a while. She is she is on par with Hillary Clinton. Liz Cheney is the Hillary Clinton of the Republican Party. And I'm telling you what, I have never met Liz Cheney. But I will bet my career that she is as dusty and as ridiculous as Hillary Clinton. They're like cut from the same cloth. I would have more respect for Liz Cheney if she wasn't trying to throw Donald Trump under the bus for her own political gain. For her own family legacy. And that's just my opinion. I believe it's her family legacy. The bushes, the Chinese, all of they can't stand that Donald Trump has interrupted their legacy in this country. And he's literally poo pooed on their legacy.

Democrats Are Losing Support From Black People in Georgia

"So when we look at what's going on in Atlanta joy, we look at what's going on in Georgia. I want to say Atlanta Georgia but in the state of Georgia, they are lewd the Democrats are losing support from black people. And I can't pinpoint exactly why this is happening. I can make an assumption to say that when a Republican is leading, people are satisfied with what they're getting at in the state of Georgia, they feel confident in the direction of the state and these Democrats are aligning themselves with the most asinine positions that I've ever seen in my life. When you go out on a limb and you continue to preach this idea of victimhood to black folks, I want you to understand in Atlanta, there's a lot of successful black people. It's a pretty big hub for black people in general, but it's a lot of successful black people that live in and around the Atlanta, Georgia area, there's also half of the police department is black. So when you are pitching this message of victimhood to black folks that know better and you just keep pitching and pitching and pitching it, you are going to find yourself running away black people with common sense. Black people who know better than the Democrats or no better than what the Democrats are trying to push. Also, when you look at what's going on in the state of affairs with a Democrat president, people are also waking up and saying, well, wait a minute. My cost to live in was better, more conducive for family growth and for my family and our well-being, than it is under a Democrat. I think a lot of these people remember the mask mandates and all this other stuff and they were watching very closely how Stacey Abrams came out and spoke and how Kemp handled the state.

Why Did the Democrats Choose Stacey Abrams?

"Stacey Abrams rebutted, I had a response to, I don't know what it would be considered officially, but she had came through and I said, who is this woman? Because I've never heard of her before, she does not appear to be a part of the Clinton cabal or a part of the Obama legacy. None of those things. I've never heard of her never seen her before. And she looked kind of sloppy if you ask me, she don't really look like she's well put together. She's very smart. It seems like she's educated, but she didn't seem like she was someone that the Democrat party wanted to present as the next generation of Democrats, right? Because Barack Obama was a significant play for the Democrat party. I'm going to leave it at that. I mean, he was good-looking, very charismatic, you know, he was then presidential, you know? He could speak. He would say all the right things and the Democrats could really use him and they did to usher in this idea of the first black president and it got a lot of people fired up and a lot of people voted for him. A lot of black people voted for him just because he was black, understandably so I don't think he's right, but I understand why. But why did they choose Stacey Abrams? Is the biggest question? The Stacey Abrams ran against governor Kemp in Georgia and she lost. I mean, she got a butt handed to her. She lost by 55,000 votes. Now she keeps coming back, she keeps showing up, and of course she's running again. This year, find herself in a position of authority for the Democrat party.

"David, I'm curious to get your take on this because the average enlisted let's say for the enlisted person in the army, not making a lot of money quite frankly, some people working McDonald's are making more than people that are putting their lives on the line to defend our freedom. Well, you expect me to be clearly honest if this was president Trump, this would never be happening. I guarantee it. But this is what the Biden administration thinks of our soldiers to spend $560 billion on student loans in which they don't know where the money is coming from. Of course they do. It's coming from us, the taxpayer, and then spending billions as you said, the Ukraine has spent an optics, Joe. I mean, Joe Biden, you need to understand that the whole law is looking at you and Barack Obama was exactly right about Joe Biden. Leave it to Joe to screw things up and here we go again.

Lee Zeldin Speaks Outside Damaged McDonald's by Man With an Ax

"Lee zeldin, the Republican, his challenging Kathy hochul. He held a press conference outside the McDonald's in New York City yesterday. You could see the fear in the eyes of other people who are here at this McDonald's just a few days ago. This person who was swinging an axe and breaking walls and tables in here and even slapped one customer. Shouldn't just end up right back out on the street with the judge having no discretion. Can you imagine taking a hatchet, going to McDonald's where you live? Smashing it up, destroying the place, glass shattering, terrifying customers. And policies would be in place where you live where that guy doesn't go to jail. He gets released. I wonder if they let him keep the axe. No kidding, does he get to keep the hatchet? You know if he committed a crime with a gun, they'd confiscate that gun in a New York minute. How about the hatchet?

Disturbing Video Shows Man With an Ax at New York McDonald’s

"And if you haven't seen the video, it's pretty shocking to watch. This guy gets into a beef the way the media has described it. He was harassing a woman in the McDonald's. She rebuffed him. She tried to get away from him. He flew into a rage and was verbally assaulting her. That's the way this has been described. Male patrons tried to come to her rescue. Her defense, and they got into a physical altercation with this guy, and they tried to hit the guy. Now, he's a big hulking guy. And the blows were just deflected and barely glancing off of him. They weren't, it wasn't like they were knocking him out. They were just kind of punching him to try to get him away from the girl and they were arguing. And they were fighting. He's very calm. He has a backpack. He goes over and puts the backpack down. And he pulls out an axe from his backpack and he starts smashing up the McDonald's, destroying the McDonald's. Glass shattering everywhere, he's breaking counters. He's swinging the axe at terrified customers, including a young woman. This poor girl, do we have the video of the actual assault guys of the McDonald's? Do we not have that on shalem news channel? 'cause you need to see this. When you see what this guy did, there's no way you'd see that and say, well, but you shouldn't go to jail for that. You should see him with the hatchet. Carrying around an axe. Now listen to what he told the New York Post. He gives an interview to a reporter. He said to the reporter, think about it. If you only think that the thing you can protect yourself with is a gun, we're all going to go to effing jail. With a hatchet, I have my options. Throw it or just smash an effing table

The Reality of Race-Based Criminal Reform in New York

"Final day in New York for a while. I was here on business and just here for a couple of days. What I witnessed yesterday was so wild. I watched a guy over on 48th street, 49th street, go up and down a row of garbage cans in front of a residential block and just empty out all the all the trash cans in a rage, screaming at the sky, and you know, you got to have compassion, but the damage this guy did, somebody's got to clean all that up. People were just watching him. Warily, New Yorkers are so beaten down, I was at a target, I was hearing there were two police officers, two NYPD officers in there talking to the manager about the same two guys that come in every day and just rob the place blind. The guy with the hatchet, the axe wielding maniac at the McDonald's. He's given interviews. He says, I'm not unhinged. The guy who flew into the axe wielding rampage at a lower east side McDonald's who did not did not go to jail because of the no cash bail rules that progressives here in New York have instituted. Alvin Bragg, Kim Fox, good on the list of all these lunatic prosecutors and district attorneys who don't want to incarcerate black men who commit crimes like this. That's what it's about incidentally. It's all about race. They'll tell you it's race because this is criminal justice reform to right the wrongs that have been done against black people in the past.

Ali Velshi: America Dodged a Bullet but the Gun Is Still Loaded

"If you want the news, where do you go, Chris? Where'd he go, Travis? America's news, man. Ali belty. That's right. And here he is again. Good morning, Ali velshi. Good morning to you, my friend. It is great to see you again on this Friday morning. It's a Friday's always a great long day for me. And this is my, you know, this is getting my blood flowing in the morning stretches. Yeah, yeah. Right. This is your stretch for your weekend. And I have my your pillow. Yes. If my pillow, not anything relevant about my pillow, I just thought I'd bring my pillow. You know, I was going to read this tweet to you because this is where we find ourselves. You having to be a news reporter in this day and age. Patrick tweets, a pillow magnate, just had his phone seized by the FBI at a hardee's in connection to a fired reality TV host trying to steal The White House and I'm begging the writers of America season 246 to please stop drinking for even one day. Do you not feel like that when you're just like, who else was it? Oh, somebody, oh, Don said, it seems almost written that Trump will be picked up at a McDonald's. Who was the other guy in a clown wig at dairy? And dairy Queen. The guy that said Trump is going to be reinstated. But that's real. That's real. Ally. Where do we find ourselves at this juncture? The problem is, and as I've traveled around the world, it's all like this, right? It's all stuff that you could discount as not sufficient to make a movie plot. The type of lawyers Trump surrounded him with the four seasons landscaping thing after the election. It's all the Christina bob as his lawyer. It's all like that except two problems are occurring. One is they actually did real damage and continue to do real damage. They actually ruined real people's lives. So aside from people who were killed on January 6th, a lot of people were duped who are now going to jail. And Donald Trump continues to phone in to their rallies and things like that and encouraged. Not a bit of remorse. If I ever did anything that caused another human to spend a night in detention, I would be racked with remorse forever. But number three, which is the most important is that everybody looks at that stupid clown car and says, you know, they weren't going to succeed at this, which is not entirely true, right? But for Mike Pence making a decision at the last minute, our democracy could have been fully imperiled. There are a whole lot of smarter people out there who aren't part of the clown car. Who aren't Rudy Giuliani who want to buy who aren't, you know, all these lawyers that he's got who are looking at this thinking, um, I can figure out a way to get this right so that isn't a pillow guy and a McDonald's and all of this kind of stuff. That's actually what I worry about. The too many people look at this ridiculousness and write it off as, wow, that was stupid and ridiculous. But we didn't really Dodge a bullet. We actually really did Dodge a bullet and we better be careful because the guns got more in them. Yeah, this has caused one of America's premier newsman Ali velshi to bring an actual prop on a morning radio show. You actually brought a pillow because if I want to be really good, I'd have a pillow and a phone because the pillow magnet had his phone set. That's right. Now, you're going to cover that this weekend about by the way, it is not easy to see someone's phone, right? I mean, there have been a number of phones. Tell us about how you're covering that this weekend. Well, so I want to try to make sense of it, right? Because of the January 6th committee, there's the Department of Justice investigation in which Merrick Garland seems to have woken up to the idea that despite the possible damage and martyrdom of Donald Trump, if he's indicted for anything, the Department of Justice has to take this seriously and in a timely manner. So the DoJ has seized a bunch of phones. They put out a bunch of subpoenas. Now keep in mind, we got, we got Boris Epstein. He had his phone taken. And Mike Roman, who was a campaign strategist for Trump had a phone taken. The pillow man had his Jeffrey Clark had his phone taken back in June, Dan scavino, the social media director, had his and Bernie kerik. Former commissioner of the New York police, who was working with Rudy Giuliani in overturning the election, had his phone taken. It is very hard to take somebody's phone, by the way. The Department of Justice can't do it as a fishing expedition like Donald Trump likes to say. You can't take a phone for purely investigative investigatory purposes. You have to have probable cause of a crime and convince someone that you do. There's a high bar to getting someone's phone. Now, my confusion is that when it comes to pillow guy and guys like that, I feel like they've said all the quiet parts out loud on either fox or whatever crazy outlook will have them. So I'm curious as to what could possibly be on their phone, but they haven't already said they're being sued by dominion voting. They're being sued by all sorts of people. So I don't know, but I will say this that between the January 6th committee and the Department of Justice, they've all been very deliberative, more deliberative than many of your listeners are my viewers would like them to be. We took them to move faster in some cases. They've been very deliberative. So if they're getting the stuff, one of two things is happening. They know there's valuable information on those phones or it's information they already know and they are now calling these guys in or looking at their phones to say, we already know this. We just need further corroboration before we place charges or things like that. So those two things are happening and I don't know which. Right. So this special master ruling, we just talked to Glenn kirschner about it. I mean, it's just, it's getting harder and harder to sort of cover, first of all, I don't even know how you keep track of all of these stories of lawbreaking, and which crimes are being investigated by who. But you know, I mean, I guess Trump has succeeded once again in at least delaying. Yes, that's exactly what it is because the special master has to get through the documents now by November 30th. Which, you know, the Trump people had wanted three months. The Department of Justice and wanted less. November 30th, the one, the one thing about that, and I guess the Department of Justice doesn't care to get politics involved in this, but there's a sort of political thing happening between now and November 30th and it's November 8th, right? It's the actual midterm elections in which it does seem that some Republicans and conservatives are disgruntled by the degree of criminality that seems to surround the former Trump administration and Trump today. And so that's the frustration that why November 30. This is just a delay tactic. There may or may not be some documents that were seized that were inappropriate, but generally speaking, the FBI and what's called its filter team do a relatively good job of this. So this is just going to be a way to do what Donald Trump has always done. One day, perhaps Donald Trump will face the music. Yeah. He's very, very, very good at delay, and that's what the special master essentially. Yeah. Speaking of politics, our Republicans trying to lose the midterms. Let's talk about the Lindsey Graham's proposed. Right? That's exactly right. And now this stunt was desantis and Abbott, you know, illegally flying migrants in some cruel prank. So it's cruel. It's cruel and the cruelty seems to be the point. I'm not sure that moves the needle politically all that much other than gets Democrats who were thinking of not voting. To vote. But I think abortion may have done that anyway. So I think you're seeing a lot of energy amongst Democrats, which you wouldn't have seen in the midterm typically. But the Lindsey Graham thing just weird, right? The

Jennifer Horn on Gavin Newsom's New Fast Food Bill

"Who can't provide except for his cronies, the mutual back scratches is of course gruesome use of the government of California. Jen, what is the latest diabolical plan that is going to affect fast food in California, but keep that guy in power? Yeah, it has nothing to do with fast food. Unfortunately, but here's the story. On Monday, Gavin Newsom goes out on Labor Day, and he says, oh, we're going to sign this bill that the state legislature brought to him. And essentially, it creates a fast food council. Now that doesn't seem so bad. It's a little orwellian. Why do I need a counsel for my burgers? For your nuggets? Counsel. Exactly. I'm on the nugget council. So he signs this bill. And what it does is it ensures fair pay and health and safety response from these big restaurant chains all across the state of California. Now, you would think, why would we need a fast food council when already there is a minimum wage, which by the way is $15 enough throughout the state of California depending on the county that you're in, and there's already osho, which goes in and make sure that everything is safe. They have all of these hoops that they have to jump through already. But, you know, a Newsom says, okay, we need this and it's going to raise the price. Now the minimum wage for these workers, it's essentially unionizing them. The minimum wage for fast food workers will probably go up to about 22 bucks an hour. Now that's crazy. And it's going to raise prices and it's going to eliminate jobs because McDonald's is not going to take a loss. They're going to bring in iPads to take your order. It's like the McDonald's. It's literally across the block from our studio. It really pisses me off. There's one human in the back flipping burgers. And then there's these little kiosks out front. Right now we have a 50 50 Senate and a 50 50 country, but I think when all of a sudden done this fall, we're lucky to have a extremely close Senate. Either our side up slightly or their side of life. McDonald needs to retire. You know, the sad thing in that whole common Jack was really, it was somebody who was whining that his candidates got beaten in the primary. Greta Van Susteren: Remember Bail Laws, DAs, & Facility Capacities

"I want to ask you to talk a little bit about what happened in New York. And if memory serves, you are practitioner of the dark arts, right? You're licensed and barred and all that good stuff. You're an attorney. Washington D.C.. And taught at George stumble school for 20 years. Wow. So take a look at Lee zeldin, this guy comes at him. Now it's pretty clear to me this guy, this guy basically wants to slice Lee zeldin's head off. They arrest him. Charge him with a felony and then give him directions to the nearest McDonald's. Thanks. See you later. Oh no, I'll tell you. Look, I was a criminal defense lawyer. And times have changed my clients wouldn't get wouldn't get a low bond for something like that. They'd get a bond that they couldn't reach, so they'd be stuck in shield to protect the community and everything. But look, it's just terrible. But it depends on two things. One is the number of things. One is the bail laws. They have been relaxed is the DAs who are making the decisions. Three is whether the facility is overcrowded or not, whether they have the capacity to add more people. So there are a lot of factors, but when you attack someone who high profile person, you know, you're asking for trouble if you don't figure out a way how to detain them when it's a violent crime. And this is a violent crime.

"Where you like hip hop songs and you'll people dancing with nuggets in like you and literally dancing and break dancing and whatnot. There's only one way to solve this and to be honest with you. It's something that i. I'm kind of disappointed in all of us that have driven up to a mcdonalds late at night really needing to know really needing to those sundays. I'm i'm disappointed that we haven't thought of it. The only way to fix this is if the if we start marketing to the karen crowd because the in crowd. We'll take care of this shit like i'll tell you right now if they roll up to that mcdonalds two consecutive times. And it's not working taylor taylor. Mcdonald's whoever someone's got on top of this oh you say there's low doses of ivermectin very at mcdonalds and they're like i need them now. They're like sorry miss. It's not working. And the next thing you know they're uploaded a viral tick talk video them crying in their front seat with just like fucking captions going like doodoo. I will be brave and get this mcflurry machine. Vicks valley that the wind energy we had spread the rumor that people are not serving them on purpose. Because they're karen's like the meam and like that would really pissed off like caused them to get the bottom of this like yeah. Well this is the whole thing is so funny too because like it's all been even though it's one of the things that a lot of people desire most youth you'd figure at some point. Mcdonald's like hey we're fucking losing money when he's machines are working and still. They're caught in this relationship with taylor. It's like okay. I guess every store has thousands of dollars in repair bills. Because only taylor can come and fix the fucking thing. Yeah so this is like part of this is a larger like issue throughout american. Oh yeah yeah they. They just passed like a or. I think biden's trying to get through a thing. That's a right to repair thing. That's just like you should be able to fix your own stuff that you buy. And there shouldn't be like forced obsolescence enforced like technical problems that you can't fix so you need to buy a new one or pay them which i'm surprised because it's this like the lack of the right to repair that. Keeps the consumer machine humming and just people just talking shit constantly right all men. The volume button doesn't work on my tv out. You go. I've tv right now. It's just doesn't turn on. And i'm like debate. I'm like fuck man. That shit cost money like yeah and even though my damn cheap. Tv's or cheap. Part of me is like. I just know someone can come in here. Open it up. Be like oh yeah. There's your problem pink. And then it's like a a quick fix. But i and i also find myself in that same pattern of like oh. She doesn't work tom to trash and get a new one. Yeah so basically taylor. Charges franchises thousands of dollars a year for maintenance contracts to cope with this to people who created their own like basically game genie for this fucking ice cream machine. A gadget the size of a small paperback books called kitsch. Kyi t. c. h. That hacks the machine and allows mcdonald's employees to access it a then. Taylor hired a private detective to dig up. It's like all this betrayal and like and because like one of the people who is the head of equipment team for national supply. Leadership council sued them. There is now a taylor kitsch a lawsuit which has nothing to do with taylor. Kitsch the actor but they actually won a victory for like right to repair ship to ride a cool because they they. They completely misrepresented themselves..

We're gonna get to know you a little bit better. I i do want to ask to get hit us with a a detail from the back stories of one of the celebrities. You've covered on the show. Anything anything that surprised you honestly during the michael jordan episode and and for anybody that you'll that does take a chance to listen to it. I'll admit the first couple of episodes still finding our footage but we feel like we've done that. But during the jordan episode we had a really good conversation surrounding the coverage. Neil surrounding a when he retired with his father's death all of that even though. Yeah i lived through it and i. I was not old enough to be aware it was interesting to me. It's kinda like yoga. I'm sure you haven't seen the mouse into the amount of palestine community on netflix yet. I'm watching this weekend. Strongly recommended it. I remember all of the things. I was there when those things were said. But sometimes when you hear it know from thousand miles out it's like oh wow okay so so. Yeah but in terms of like crazy stuff about celebrities. None of it's really going to shock. You know we've always known that you know right right europe recently. What did what did i see the same trending on like nba. Read it again when they were talking. Charles barkley was bringing up that anecdote about holly michael jordan who has no empathy for the une housed. When he's like don't give that money if he can say. Can i get some chains. You could say welcome to. Mcdonald's cannot take your order and you're like oh my god my wouldn't expect anything fucking less. But jesus i don't know if he really studied glint like you like you said it wouldn't me it would not me but now he's come around that's it that's why i'm like now since the pandemic he's so philanthropic like i'm really curious to hear from him like if he sees himself as having an evolution because i'm you know he knows he knows he was a fierce guy. We saw that he knows he has some level of self awareness around curious. If he's like. Yeah you know i've learned to love more. He honestly he had because you know while obvious. He was doing things throughout his career. We certainly didn't hear about it. Any definitely was going to take a stance you're not a public stance especially that would be controversial over the last five years or so. I feel like he's definitely moved towards at least emmy showing that he's no he's about to writings. Yeah i wonder if the last dance you know. Because that was basically controlled by him. At least he was the one who was like okay. You we can make this now. I wonder if just you know seeing it through new eyes or see you know. Having other people see him and like that. That whole experience was was kind of gave gave him a new perspective. Right the the detail. I thought you were gonna say charles barkley talked about when he was like. I hate that fat..

"Welcome to the story of steve easterbrook ascended by the golden arches in two thousand and fifteen make fired just four years later you fired. This is a really interesting story. I've been wanting to cover a company related to the metoo movement for some time and for those of you that reached out requesting to hear more of harvey weinstein. I hear you. It was a spectacular fall. But one that's been covered so much in a media as i started to dig deeper into business. Leaders exposed for corruption. Story of steve. Easterbrook struck me as one. That's fallen under the radar even as it continues to unfold now. Not many people know about him or are aware of the ongoing sexual harassment. Issues and legal cases of america's favorite fast food restaurant and the largest restaurant chain in the world. What we've witnessed over the last. Few years has been the shakeup of some very powerful people in high positions beginning with the entertainment industry from two thousand and seventeen in what's been called. Shed moment several actresses and actors opened up about their experience with sexual harassment in the entertainment industry. Catapulting the metoo movement into the mainstream calling for a snowball effect into industries. What followed was an avalanche empowering people across many industries to come forward with their own experiences of abuse of power and misconduct in the workplace. Since then we've seen how galvanizing the forces of people coming forward have been incriminating people with demi-god status most notably harvey weinstein bill cosby bill. O'riley matt lauer louis. Ck mario batali the list goes on and on and on but the effects also reach beyond television screens and celebrity status and into businesses and board rooms. So here we go around two thousand and six. Mcdonald's was confronted by a lot of negative criticism on the nutritional value or lack thereof of items on their menu. Remember supersize me the documentary. Where the filmmaker eight. Mcdonald's for thirty days street he told viewers about the fat accumulation in his liver and chronicled. Not only the dramatic changes in his body but also to his psychological wellbeing including mood swings and sexual dysfunction. The documentary measured the damage. Fast food was doing to our bodies casting blame on the industry for fuelling and obesity epidemic across the nation. So during that time. Mcdonald's started eyeing steve easterbrook a fresh face. Thirty eight year old executive running mcdonald's. Uk easterbrook started his career as an accountant but hoped for something more interesting lucrative for his family of five. He made his way to mcdonalds. I when he began managing the chain in the uk and quickly made a name for himself. When other saw how he singlehandedly reinvigorated the brand tweaking the menus upgrading. The food ordering systems and refreshing store designs even inside the company. He looked at changes in the culture. He petitioned to take down the term jobs in dictionaries which defined it as a dead end employment and let a transparency effort that included a website. Where visitors could ask questions about anything from working conditions to how the sausage gets made. He was the face of the company's next step forward that coupled in with mcdonald's new branding new packaging and of course their new slogan bought up. Bop bop bah. I'm lovin it with vocals. Courtesy of justin timberlake easterbrook was promoted to chief brand officer in two thousand and ten and relocated from the uk to chicago except only a year later. He left and went back home to the uk to be with his family saying that he needed more consistency in his life. But mcdonald's never forgot him and over. The years easterbrook found his way back into the beloved golden arches landing chief executive role in two thousand and fifteen. That was the same time that he finalizes divorced from his wife so a lot was happening for him that year anyway when he took the reins it seemed that easterbrook was the savior for the company's relationship with the public. Some had thought that he had this inning gift. For changing the perception and emotional connection to mcdonald's brand he modernized the company's technology to include touchscreen kiosks and he also entice customers with all day breakfast and even push the change to use fresh beef patties instead of the frozen ones in its quarter pound burgers which saw sales of its quarter pounder increase by thirty percents. Basically under his leadership at mcdonald's stock doubled from ninety dollars per share to almost two hundred dollars per share in the fifty five months that he was the ceo but the story isn't about how great of a ceo. He was because we would soon come to understand. How easterbrook being the company's golden boy to the company's worst nightmare here to break everything down for us. This week is our special guest. I am kate taylor. Senior correspondent at insider in the business section and. I have been covering mcdonalds at insider for the last six years in november of twenty nineteen. Mcdonald's issued a press release announcing very abrupt ending of easter brooks career. At the company it rocked the financial world. We kind of realized something was going on with this. When in november twenty nineteen mcdonald's very abruptly announced that easterbrook was out at the company. It kind of came out of nowhere on a sunday night. Mcdonald's and outside investigated a relationship between him and a mcdonald's employee and as a result he was going to leave the company after having the ceo. So that was something where it was kind of abrupt. It was worrisome. No word really got out on what had happened leader. Things came out that he had had a sexual but not physical relationship with a subordinate for about a month. Where they were texting they were exchanging photos. It was never physical but it was certainly an.

"It's like any other McDonald's spot across the country. There's a big building Golden Arches, and an American flag when Marsha chatwin began researching her book on McDonald's and Black America. She made a point to visit this one. One of the first things I saw was a flyer announcing the winner of a McDonald's worker scholarship this. This restaurant is a pillar in the community. It sponsors and mentoring program and works with boys and girls clubs, the local public library sports, programs and the zoo. It's a place where people gather in -tunities like Ferguson where you have a lot of for residents. Sometimes. McDonald's where people use the Internet so. It's the Wi Fi. It's where you can get the air conditioning. And in two thousand fourteen, this McDonald's was also in the eye of the storm. When Ferguson erupted in protests over the shooting of Michael Brown there is growing outrage tonight. After an unarmed African American teenager was shot and killed by police in the Saint, Louis suburb of Ferguson Missouri. If you think about all of the international activists communities that showed up at Ferguson Missouri they come to America and the place that is open and lively is the McDonald's people took refuge in that. McDonald's from the unrest surrounding them fires, gunshots, rubber, bullets and tear-gas styles. The windows broken into again. We saw a couple of other stores. Neighbors went there to watch the results of Michael Brown's autopsy. Protests are still milk from the fridge to. To treat their eyes after being teargassed, it was one of the few businesses that had the financial capacity to remain open during the uprisings and bounce back after it was targeted and I. Don't think it is a coincidence that it is owned and operated by African. American, that McDonald's was more than just a fast food restaurant. When reporters left, and people turn their attention away from Ferguson. It was and still. Is there serving its community? Chaos brought McDonald's into black communities, and it is in chaos that we are able to see the ways that the McDonald's in the black community Serbs far more purposes than giving people a place to eat. From business insider, this is brought to you by. Brands you know stories you don't I'm Charlie Herman McDonald's big MAC MAC only at. McDonald's is the largest restaurant company in the world it's business is served burgers and fries to millions of people, but what happens when a brand like McDonald's finds itself in the middle of a struggle over civil rights today across the country Americans are demanding solutions, racial injustice and inequality. Many corporations are trying to respond fifty years ago. Residents of Cleveland Ohio made similar demands and went head to head with McDonald's over its role in black communities today, the fight for the right to franchise could the Golden Arches be a golden ticket to economic equality. Stay with us. What are some of your earliest memories about McDonald's? Eight so much McDonald's as a kid I know. The end is a young adult I should say did to. Marsha chat and I grew up in the nineteen eighties her in Chicago me in Oakland. We both have these shared memories of the McDonald's Menus of our youth. They had hot mustard, which was way too sophisticated for my kid Palette. There was like a barbecue on I. Remember the McLean Deluxe came out, and it was supposed to be a lower fat burger. Right as a kid, who was a place for birthday, parties and cheap meals with friends I remember it's where I surprised my mom after I got my braces off after having him for nearly four long years of high school. Terrible in Chicago, Chandler Remembers One McDonald's downtown were all the decor was inspired by African American history. They would have historical portrait's or they would make sure that the. The liners on the trays had history facts I knew the black McDonald's operators who gave me awards for Black History? Make sure you fill out your son says make sure you fell into vote, so these were individuals who were clearly identifiable as people who were doing more than just business. Chat is now professor of history and African American studies at Georgetown University but those early memory stayed with her when she went on to write a book about how she puts it. McDonald's became black. It's called franchise. The Golden Arches Black America. She says that relationship really started during the civil rights movement and one year in particular, nineteen, sixty eight Martin. Luther King was shot and was killed tonight. After King's assassination, there were uprisings and protests in cities across the nation on rest in Kansas City. Missouri April the weekend at Ryan's on Tuesday. On Wednesday on Thursday on Friday more, the same communities were devastated by these protests and in the aftermath. McDonald's found it had a problem. Many white people had fled the city for the suburbs and a lot of McDonald's restaurants in urban areas were being abandoned by the white owners and employees. At the time, there had never been black McDonald's Franchisee. McDonald saw this as an opportunity to maintain their businesses in neighborhoods that were case in two were in African American communities by bringing in franchise owners, and allowing those right franchise owners business in the suburbs plus McDonald's the setup might help protect those restaurants. If there is any racial unrest in the future, the owner had an expectation plow upon him that he would keep relations good, and he would make people feel like that. "It was like tell tweaked out that came out all the way I'm intrigued. Seven three am a treat shortening everything nowadays so trigged so fact number one it started as a barbecue restaurant in nineteen forty hours opened by two brothers in San Vernon dino out not pronounce California but now so this first location is a museum there so you can like Cohen. See the first McDonald's so two brothers but I didn't start off as barbecue barbecue and now look wise become burgers mashed Rogers and apparently there are more than back number two next now. There are more than their more McDonald restaurants than there are hospitals. I can believe that this is an interesting on. Did you know know that it used to own mostly AAA way. What yeah owned. Yeah why hateful anyways. So maybe that makes sense. Why when you eat to pull. Msu Sick because it was a McDonalds. We'll usually like McDonald's didn't make me sick. I eat to. Police makes me sick. But you don't need to pull a when we used to McDonald's when you're little your body could changed and maybe if McDonald's now you'll probably feel the same way. Why would he McDonald's now there's nothing for me exactly? I'm just saying now I I just don't like cold foods cooked and that's what they give you and why the although I dance thinking the view. That's all folks a different word. I came that came out the answer. What they give you how they are you. You're trying to do an accent but your failing mizzou run. Wow miserably miserably. I can. "I feel like it's his should be easier. But you know we dumped straight to rollerblades and I couldn't. I guess it's like so much like getting on a skateboard on a way. You have to be able to balance on the skateboarder the scariest things. I'd rather rollerblade roller skate. Rollerblade both them than on a skateboard or God. We made it like five inches Just jump off. I can't do. It can't do it because we were on a slight incline. GonNa do I just. I know bill even the flat like holding the Wallis next to the sidewalk. The building can do no. I can't Okay S. We also inclined to start picking US going and then the road at the end so like yeah you only had like ten feet and and you're like Uvira stop or you're gonNA hit the alley cars down that scary stuff. Yeah apparently at this pig. Stand you exam. Picks Dan Restaurant. I like a call to order system where you could directly. Call the chef and put an order. Will it's a shaft cooking? Is He taking order? Like I don't know it's only one person working. They just started. I mean it was a stand so true expand where that the pigs can stand by me if it was actual stand than I guess. He's doing everything so lynnwood about them then through came about in the first drive through. Okay so there's like different magazines. I guess that said like different ones or the first ones like money. Magazine was saying red giant hamburger on route. Sixty six nine hundred forty seven was the first to have a drive through an actual drive through and then culinary love was like no. It was pig stand. Who had the first drive thru? But then there's an article that said like the first successful will drive. The restaurant was gonNA take a guess McDonalds. Not No heck I ever one McDonald's hint. I think you could get us okay. It's something the west coast than out. Pirker yes Like if I give you a hint. I think you can guess Thought was in and out Burger Unions. Day they only out Burger West Coast and I don't even remember if that was west. Coast Yes so California's in-n-out Burger opened in. La doesn't make sense. You drive in and then you drive out now. We started it. That's was probably got. The title will drive through first A built like a restaurant for early opened in L. A. In nineteen forty eight to start off as their big thing was drive through where that just happened to be big. Not Hundred Major. Their thing is is their thing like you get in out real fast. So the now before like Angola Margaret Alcohol last. Okay it out over there too. I don't eat meat so good for you. Apparently they had the first like they had this novel to way Speaker System for placing orders like when they opened the drive through the one. I have the successfully work where they had a two way. Speaker System. Gas McDonnell's ended up setting up their DR AIDS. Now Seventy yes the seventies well I got it by the Nineteen Seventies. A lot of fast food teens started implementing drivers. Guess a car craze Big Lynn. What does the seventies known for on? How people are they. The hippie distance be discussed the heavy people hippie does Kelsen Disney. What was the seventies decade? Now Sixty was like the hippies in like all array in the seventies was the disco fever brutal skirts and like the poodle skirts. Excellent eighties was eighties. Nineties was nothing nothing like one building and we were in the eighties. I can't remember. Yeah I like how. That's our reference the Disney buildings. We'll we'll state in the decades. Yeah resort but I was. GonNa you guess which fast food restaurants still has this concept of roller skate delivery. But you kind of already said it like they do. They still do it. Yeah that's what I thought one I can think of. That does the drive in because I remember we drove by many is on the thing in. Oh Yeah US part. Their insulin comes and gives you but do all of them do that or do people. Can they just walk it out? I don't know I've never been to sonic village when we want to grow by it. There's someone walking out food to somebody. Maybe they omitted the roller skates. You're just like you. Just go out. There Zagayev frazier lobby will be like. I can't do his job land because I but they still do the walk to your car and Dilemma Service. Yup Yup banks started employees like having drivers in Nineteen Thirties. And a lot of people were like. This was great. Because if you wanted to like withdraw money and stuff. It was more safer when you're in your car because you take the money putting your car and drive off as if you're carrying them money someone can rob you easily. Yeah I mean. I guess it makes sense in south. I just don't like it because I feel very awkward when I go to one what I do. Is I park. My car walked the walk up. Atm RATHER MONEY FOR LIKE HIDE. It run to my car not run but like walk really fast to my car because What was it out the open. My what I put it in my hand like where I can see. It clearly. Don't like you WANNA put because there's been some reports of you. I was talking about like not that so much because it's less likely that people see you being all awkward trying to get to the ATM. But no like when you're if you have to go through. Lean to talk to the Taylor. That's the most awkward experience we discussed this last time. There's a reason I don't like it so I prefer to walk it. Yeah you the perfect segue into my next drive through thing because I was gonna say talk about those speaker systems so you know how when you place your orders and the employees are also like often like in the. I've been on that receiving it. Yeah but hate it though. Workers said they can hear everything you say in your car so like even when you think that the speakers off is not really off they can hear your conversation. I like yeah we we have the phone. We were like put the phone number like if I still had it. I could hear kind of like what was going on in the car and I was like. Oh where are you talking to me? Oh no no I was talking to okay like if I might looking something of and I have the phone against my ear. Sounds like yeah I can tell I knew in totally hear what they're saying? It's like it's a speaker Ma'am Yeah saw this one like Reddit user commented on this rack in Ralph username. And he basically said 'cause he used to work or I don't know if he still does but he's as soon as you pull up to the drive thru speaker. They get like a beep on their headset. Unlikely Start hearing everything right and then it says but if we don't answer it away we still hear everything you say things like wait they get a beep and it just starts play like letting you here but then how. I guess is like I've read that. There's like this detector on the ground so that when the car passes at notified like cars coming like are they know that 'cause like when the car in the pharmacy would like if it gets past a certain point in next to the window than a thing in the farm studios like lane one or laying too. Yeah Yeah it beeps all of a sudden you just hear it just turns on the speaker. I guess I'll know said if we like to tell you like hold on a second We'll be with you in like a minute and you're on hold. They can still hear a report. I'm so they're like funny. Is The craziest thing or angry. I heard that like Oh so be careful what you say because one preparing your food for you like we say anything angry but like any conversation that you're having you very well they must have the funniest things. Saas my always think. I want to go through the bank. Sydrome like they can probably still hear us but good thing we can speak Punjabi so they gave understand Matt. You can hear us what you can't understand. I mean that one it's like I can. I don't know you see them so you're like I don't know if that it's that sense. They can still hear you or something like that. But yeah that's that's funny. You got an apparently. This also applies to win. You're like doing a virtual support chat with like technical chat with people like if you're like trying to get help lead do you don't WanNa call you do it online these. I want you type something even. If you don't press enter they can still see what you're typing way. What how well I had to have this person like tag person like remote like fix my computer at work and like I had to type through the. Im off while. He was controlling the screens. I even hitting enter. You see what I'm about to tell you I need because you see we type it like it was the weirdest thing ever but yeah like awkward. I need to take control from you to type in the I am strange. Pa thoroughly weird. They can see what you're all. Oh makes you break. Everything was crazy thing. I've ever done a drive through one. I thought they weren't listening. Yeah well I can't speak for fast. Food drives go through them. But like I'm thinking of all the times we talk while we're waiting for the bank teller to like finish processing transaction. Oh my thank you and I probably hear. You're saying that he can hear you like should I listen close. Yeah they're entertainment for the Lurs speaking of food. We have a commuter of that fits perfectly with food and airport which there's food and airports Airpor- airport food airplane food ample food. You know airplane food. What's up this is. What's up with that? This is Christy from unpredictably us and she tells the story when she was flying to Chicago with her daughter and something horrifying happened and started with food. Hey guys this is. Kristie from unpredictably. Podcast my daughter and I were going on a trip to visit my sister a few years ago. We were in our layover in Chicago. And we're eating our lunch while your way into board the next plane and my daughter dropped her French fries. She decided to reach in between the two seat to grab the French fries that she dropped granted. The whole between the two seats was quite large so it looked like her arm would fit through so I didn't think anything of it. She reaches her arms through grabs. The French fries goes to pull her arm back out and she stuck. She like mom. I'm stock I don't know what to do so I'm trying to pull her arm. Not Make a scene and it won't come out. She starts to freak out the lady next to US realize what's going on. She's like I'm GONNA go alert. The attended the attendant calls paramedic. Another guy walks over..

You don't need fast food. And so they said they have a law in this country that bans foreign fast food joints but they created their own subsitute which is called Mash donalds while Mash. Burger can match for you today. Hello say hello while the back of drive with us a podcast for the everyday commute where. We share crazy commuting experiences from us and our listeners. Like you I'm Bobby Downturn Today's episode we're GonNa talk about well so I came across or I heard on the news very inter- they're gonNA talk about. Well so why. Yes but this episode. We're going to talk about all things drive through and then it led me to things not McDonalds so we're gonNA discuss drive through the McDonalds episode because you know if you think of drive through the first thing you think of is McDonald's and are commuting commute. I always mess the title for this segment are commuter. Update story for this. Episode is from Christy from unpredictably us. And it's an airport story so this is a good one will. They're all good ones. I waited on the air force. So it's a good every for everyone. This is a good one. I mean they're all good. Yeah this is a great one exactly but before we dive into drive throughs speaking of derive derived but to arrive Jeryes. L- you derive derived driving. We Derive speaking of drives. We just took your car out for a little exercise. Yes like yeah you walk your dogs. I took my rap drive. I pay for Walk Day. Specially after our mom's van had the incident failed to start every time. We tried exactly so to prevent that. We have to go drive the car. WanNa drive mine anyway. I know but while we are driving flooring which it's May and this is crazy well okay it's May on the east coast of the United States and we're not like in New England. It's not may anywhere else. No I'm saying a May on the east coast like what is it. What does it on the other side thought is not there? I was saying like it's May as in we're on the east coast of the United States is not like we're in Antarctica whereas always know so then it would make sense but where you that in my brain took it out finished. My brain took it as isn't may here on the East Coast but I don't know where you are relying on May thirtieth than you know the The places that are ahead of us it would not be me actually thirty one days of may be more April May. Yeah they're starting one. You know how to do that. Little trick where you figure out how many days there are does anyone else. What's your trick for figuring out whether how many days there are a month minds using my knuckles everywhere. Probably going to be like your knuckles you Weirdo. Whereas like January like the Nakal is the month that has thirty one days in the Indian between is not any works because when you go like Daniel. Her remarked April May June July and then July and August both had thirty one. You get to your last knuckle July and then you restart on August. Nfl Thirty one so it still works. Yeah I think that people have other methods better remember what it was and why told someone there like you used your knuckles. You Weird Weird Weird. I didn't say weirdly. Probably thought it but now they're like oh I never knew that knuckles Well the whole just was trying to point out that is flooring and may dacles apples. Yeah are the east coast seem well at least our northeast part of the.

"So I'm here with Christina Coil. From McDonald's who has been involved in some really interesting projects at McDonald's the last couple of years quite quite innovative kinds of things so Christina. Really just three questions I is. What excited you about? McDonald's that made you made the decision for or you well. McDonald's a brand that we all know and love an have fond memories of Also I've always adored high volume volume recruiting where you got the complexity not so much about specific role requirements but the location rural urban suburban along the highway. All different types of of locations pulling in new are the first person to ever told me that they always admired I volume. uh-huh read. I I have most of my career has been high volume. Be It you know retail stores for AT&T PNT wireless or Samsung. You know best buy store within a store. It's always a challenge you know and and really when you think about who we are as the country and with those big brands those are also the customers of those brands so at McDonalds. I had the chance to do that. I never I had been able to do before but also also there was really a length flight so it was. How would you create a framework that didn't rely on recruiters relly or beep teams because we are everywhere and the the restaurant? Managers are the ones who really are also serving as recruiters so really finding in ways to automate recruiting in a way that would add value for the company interesting. And as you look out. What do you think? McDonald's main challenge from a recruiting point of view is going forward over the next few months. I would say that as the the system that that we built and Livia powered Recruiting and on boarding platform as that is deploying across the the system. I think it's really going to be a bit on. Its way so we're already starting. Just the in the seven thousand restaurants where mccower is live. The gap is closing. And so it's when you can craft craft and design it can't it centric but also hiring manager centric solution and then you build in the decision rules for the Best Aston Experience. The pleasant nudges to move things along in the process and infusing hospitality and And brand boys along delay Ben where humans come into play back to where you can really poor and devote your attention to give a high touch experience. That's pretty fascinating and and so you're really talking about when you talk about seven thousand restaurants. You're talking at scale. I mean that's not. Just let's experiment into stores in Ocoee Finocchi. Yes we we were experimenting and several hundred and then thousand restaurants and the demand has been so great. By the franchise the community we are. were seeing the time to have an interview scheduled in a matter of hours. We're seeing time to hire an actually having a start date in four or five days and all of this is happening while the restaurant managers are doing their job. Managing the restaurant speaking with customers. Coaching employees are sleeping. So it's it's been it's been great and we expect to be awfully close to all fourteen thousand by the end of Q.. One well that's a pretty amazing and pretty aggressive schedule. So that's that's powerful so last question. What other than you know your job and obviously that's a that's a pretty fascinating job that you have? What kind of floats your boat? What interests you either in in family or how you pay back or things? Thank you like to do what's What's that about? I think that you know where we spend our time career wise we spent so much time energy and identity and and that for me that becomes my mission field so I think that as the work that we do and when we craft The right frameworks and the right experiences. France's we are removing obstacles to employment for folks and end that with a brand like McDonald's that means that with English Under the arches someone can come into McDonald's and learn English as a second language as a benefit and be able to grow many people come and they they benefit from our archways to opportunity tuition assistance program. So being a part of making the American dream comes allies. That for me is is extremely mainly awarding in terms of my time with Donald. That's an interesting way of looking at it. I love it at scrape. You make a difference at a lot of lives just by what you do so thank you very much appreciate the time I know. It's it's a great opportunity for us as a community of TA leaders to to kind of share. How we see the you know the kind of window of hiring drink from each of these different kinds of companies? So I I really appreciate that. Thank you my pleasure. Thanks for listening to the channel..
