"I don't know. But I'll take a serious look at them at number one because man, on paper, it looks good. And when you add to it, that's the other thing. It's Bill selves. It's what the rosters says on paper plus Bill sell. Right. Like, okay, so some of bill's best teams have been two point guard teams, right? Now he's going to have that with dawn Harrison, a Marco Jackson. You get Nick Timberlake, I'm assuming starting next to them. 6 four guard, shot 41.6% from three on 6.7, attempts per game, this past season at Towson. The big question is, okay, does it translate to the big 12? Does it translate to the high major level? We'll see. But on paper, you know, you're adding a quality shooter in Nick Timberlake. And then a KJ Adams hunter Dickinson front court, you got a former McDonald's all American level guy in Ontario Morris coming off the bench and like you noted, they could add McKinsey and bacco. I think if they add McKinsey and baco, then let's go. Now I know. I thank you. Now we're talking we're cooking with gas. If that happens, it's yeah, I'm with you. Yeah. How about this? About the safest team you could put at number one is Kansas. Because they're not going to bomb. They're not going to fall. They're never not good. Literally never not good. So if you're looking for what contender for preseason number one is least likely to make me look silly, the answer is Kansas because they're the most reliable program in America. Keep talking. I'm going to look up something. You're right about there never not good. I just want to check something. So keep rolling. Yeah, so I think the roster as constructed today is worthy of consideration if you were to add McKinsey and baco, I'm probably ready to go there all the way to the top. Oh, it should be noted. Kevin mcculler can still come back and hasn't said that he is isn't. Now, most people seem to be operating under the assumption. He's going to remain in the NBA draft. He is a projected second round pick, but he does have a year of eligibility and he has to this moment. My understanding maintained his college eligibility. So I don't think the numbers work at some point, but if you could bring back my color and add him back, now it's easy. They got to be pre season number one, but I don't think that's a likely scenario. Before we get to let's see, I can't get you. I can't find you. So I'm going to go off the AP, my man. The most disappointing Kansas team, before we get to Dickinson and his stats and his fit overall, I do want to just reference back to what you just mentioned there, because it is interesting. And I do think, especially if they get embargo, there's a strong case. So there's really only been, there's been some march lockdowns. Don't get me wrong, kansans, I'm all too familiar with the fact that you've had plenty of teams seated very highly, not even make the second weekend before. They got broke managed one year. They got ferocious. Number one overall seed. I think when that happened, they were the first number one overall seed to fail to make the sweet 16. If memory serves correct when they got far opened back in, that was 2010, I think. Anyway, so in 2021, they get, they just get side swiped in the second round by USC. They get blitzed. And one of the worst losses of south Korea that lose 85 51, that Kansas team was a three seed. That Kansas team finished 27th at Ken palm, that Kansas team did not win the big 12. In fact, it finished behind Baylor. That was COVID year uneven, but it was 5 losses behind Baylor and the standings going into that season, Kansas didn't receive any first place votes. It was 6 in the AP poll. So I'll say, you know, we could if I really could dive deep on this GPU, I would say you probably had Kansas anywhere from three to 8 preseasons. So that's the only example. And it is a recent example, but it's the only real example of a Kansas team, not living up to pre season expectations in a reasonable way. You know, they were, for Kansas to finish 27th at Ken palm, is the definition of an anomaly. I mean, I'll read you right now in the Bill self era starting most recently. Here we go. Ready. 9 three 27 one 17 9 6 three 12 7 8 four three two 14 one 5 8 1118. All right, it's outrageous consistency. If you follow college basketball, you are extremely aware of how outrageously impressive Bill selves run has been at Kansas. So you are much safer betting with him to if we're going to put him pre season one two three or whatever. They should. When we get one, everything settles, barring, you know, catastrophic injury stuff, or any outside factors that we aren't accounting for here. Like Kansas should finish as a top ten team next season. That's if things don't even go all the way right, right? So I think it has to be top 5. And I think your assessment is reasonable there. Remind listeners and viewers right now, if they have lost track though, where do you have Kansas before you make this adjustment to where are they in your rankings? And who do you have number one as we have curled into the first week of May? Right now, I have Yukon number one that is based on Andre Jackson coming back. If he doesn't, I'll move them, but right now I'm projecting him back. I've got Purdue two, marquette at three, duke it for Florida Atlantic at 5, Alabama at 6. I've already got Kansas at 7 before they add hunter Dickinson. And that projection, I believe, is also from, when did they officially add Nick Timberlake? When did he commit? I want to say that was a couple of weeks ago. I think it might have taken that into account. I've got Kansas at 7 already. So I can, I'll have them in the top 5, and I will seriously consider them for number one. You're not going to, you're not going to look stupid, putting Kansas number one. People might call you stupid when you do it today, but you're not going to look stupid, putting Kansas at one. They're always

"Actually, let me say one more thing before I go to this because I'm going to connect it to something else. It does beg the question of how do we allow this to become so popular? And it became popular because we overemphasized credentials in our society. We do. We take the credentialing process so seriously. Somebody becomes a doctor, we immediately think that what they say is gospel. I appreciate that you went to school, but what if you believe things that aren't true? Doctors sometimes can do a lot of damage. And the oath doesn't even say do no harm or never give a lethal medicine. Just listen to doctor Pierre Corey or doctor Peter mcculler, a doctor Robert Malone. They lament over what has happened in medicine in our country. And many of these schools, they're teaching medical kids that medical students that men can give birth. And they mean it. And they believe it. These are the same public health officials. That told us that we had a lockdown schools. Boy, did that do a lot of damage. Now finally, we're seeing states, though, start to rise up and push back against this. Ron DeSantis was the first of many governors to really take a leadership role in this regard. You know, you look at the last couple of years, it does not give me joy, and nor do I delight in the fact. That our medical institutions are no longer largely trustworthy. Doctor Levine came out today and said that changing kids genders will soon be fully embraced and gender affirming care has the highest support of the Biden regime. Children, this is not adults. This is not a 25 year old. This is not a 19 year old. Now these are children. This is Levine that is saying this. This is one of the top issues of our time. And it is not going away. Do you know why it's not going away? Because the biggest healthcare pharmaceutical companies stand to make billions of dollars, billions of dollars off your children, digesting the social contagion. So they take the social contagion and on social media, you might be trans in your mom and dad might be wrong, oh wow, yeah, I might be a boy. I might be a girl. They go into one of these clinics and they become an annuity for the pharmaceutical companies. Antidepressants, lupron, Levine, quote, has the highest support of the Biden regime. Let it be known on the record. The Biden administration highly supports going after children in this regard. Where are the Republicans in D.C. on this? In the states they're fighting. I think we know what they're doing. They're too worried about Ukraine. I think that the gender affirming clinic issue is probably a little bit bigger issue than what's happening 5000 miles away. I'm really thrilled to start to see us push back against this as a movement. I'm thrilled. But look, this is not the only reason why these banks are failing. This trans woke stuff. But it's just interesting. Here's cut 63. This is related. It's a little separate, but it's related to the general fema this hour. Here's the chairman of signature bank. Signature bank now one of the other banks that is collapsed, New York based, full service commercial bank. Collapsed, the chairman of signature bank, holding a pride council meeting on pronouns, play cut 63. To the most common pronouns of folks are familiar with are she and he, becoming much more common and I don't know if there's anyone in the signature bank world, but probably you have clients that use they them as pronouns. They're gender neutral pronouns on purpose. We talked about folks that are non binary that intentionally don't identify as male or female. So some of those folks use they them as their pronouns, Z is another gender neutral pronoun and the other part of that would be here spelled H IR. And then there are some folks that say, don't use any pronouns for me, just use my name. So that is the signature bank chairman. Is that really the chairman of the chairman? That is focusing on gender pronouns. Now again, I don't want to, I don't want to misrepresent the issue. These banks did not fail simply and solely because they embraced woke ideas. But it certainly didn't help your focusing on these ideas. You only have so much energy, so much time, so many resources. I don't think it was helpful for Silicon Valley bank to give $73 million. I am confused, though, what is the pronoun for bankruptcy? These people have been so focused on social change. And we predicted a lot of this. If you go back our program in our team, if you go back to about a year ago, we said that there will be a coming collapse. I did not call for bank collapses. I wasn't that clairvoyant. But I said companies are going to collapse because you have cheap money and your subsidizing really bad ideas and you're hiring people based on characteristics that matter. It's unsustainable. And I've said to business owners, I say, if you embrace a meritocracy over a woke topia, you're going to out compete your competitors. It's actually going to be a good for you that signature bank in Silicon Valley bank as well, well, we have all these black lesbians working for us now and that's going to be a defining character, they go to their job, or they smart, the answer is probably no. Because they're hired for their race, not for the merit or what they have earned..

"And on the surface for me, the west looks extremely deep from their one to four seeds. It was almost as though the committee went from a lot of people thinking that Kansas could be the number one overall seed in the tournament, which I think was a leap of faith to go in, hey, look, we're going to stick you with UCLA. Albeit a bruins team that's banged up. We're going to put you with a Gonzaga side who's playing as well offensively as any team in the country right now. And oh, by the way, just to throw a little salt in the wound. Here's a Yukon team that early in the year looked to be the greatest thing since sliced bread went through a little bit of a lull in the middle of the campaign and appears to be trending up as compared to an east that has Purdue marquette, Kansas state, and Tennessee. Quite candidly, 14s that I was looking to fade as early as I could all thrown into the same group together. Yeah, I think the west, if you're a pro better, is far and away, the toughest region in this tournament. It's pretty straightforward too. It's by a mile. 5 of our top 14 power rated teams reside in the west. And I think there's some obvious questions surrounding Kansas with Bill self undergoing the heart procedure, although he'll be back, and then you have mcculler dealing with the back injury, UCLA, without Jalen Clark, as you mentioned there. It's a pretty big blow, but you look at what Clark brought to the table there. He was kind of versatile. He also had the second best offensive rating of any Bruin. That played at least 65% of the available minutes. It's a tough loss. Your hope is that there was some good news. There are big man bona is going to be able to play in the dance. It was nice seeing the end of the freshman Amari Bailey, play two of his better games, the final week of the season. So he'll need to step up. I think it's probably smart if Mick cronin gave David Singletary more opportunities within the flow of the offense because he's been wildly efficient there. But even the rest of the landscape within the west. TCU is a fringe top 20 team in their own right. I know lampkin is down and maybe when you play a little bit more physical of opponent having him in there would be huge, but the offense has become a little bit more efficient with him off the floor because they can spread it a little bit more. You're basically have this match up against Gonzaga in the second round. That seems pretty criminal to me. Gonzaga is certainly playing one of the better teams in the country right now. And we think Arkansas can be a fringe top 25 team. I think it's very likely they send multiple guys to the league in the first round. I think we have them as a top 25 team to your point, Ken palm has them 20, third and 8 seat. My guy. That's your guy. I don't know if you saw this or not, and I don't believe it's there. But you were included at one point in his Wikipedia page last season. I mean, that might be the first mention I ever receive on Wikipedia. So I'm going to take it, and I'm going to call that a moral victory. And as long as he's not cursing me out and postgame press conference, it's probably a step in the right direction. But you know, pain, what they see in media all the time is even bad publicity is still good publicity in the grand scheme of things. So if this is what Arkansas needs to inspire them to a Cinderella run deep into the tournament. I mean, their fan base loves to circulate the clip and we're sitting here three years later. Hello Chris beard is even out of a job or at least was until he's going to become the head coach at old miss at this point. Old miss has an interesting hiring process. Just put it that way. I mean, Kirby Ho cut down to Texas tech is starting to draw a little bit of heat for his hiring process as well. Yes. Yes, indeed. But no, I think, you know, talking about the west. I mean, hey look, honestly, from a selfish standpoint, I'm thrilled because for the first time in the history of the NCA tournament, we get the round of 16 in the round of 8 out here in Vegas. And I think regardless of how things go, if seating is even close to holding, we're going to be treated to some fantastic match ups. And I may have to actually drag my ass out of the office and head down to T mobile, although I felt like I took advantage for the first time given your pep talks, going to some of the smaller conference tournaments that were out there. I spent an entire Thursday watching southland basketball in the big west. No, empty venues, not the highest quality of play, but still was great to get out there and see some of these tournaments live in person. Yeah, it's one of my favorite weekends. Haven't been out there in a while, but you have the West Coast conference mountain west, PAC 12. It was much better when the PAC 12 was at MGM. But you could kind of gravitate back and forth between the mountain west and the PAC 12 and just figure out the better session and go back and forth. When we were younger, the crowd was quite appealing at that point because there's definitely some talent. There is no doubt. There are some that comes out more women that weekend than the following for the a 100%. And depending on search march. Depending on what programs are vying for a PAC 12 championship, having spent time down on the Harvard in the state of Arizona in Tucson. When they travel up and drove to Las Vegas for a weekend, it is not the worst experience. Now, all things being equal, that is the toughest ticket to get. And the UCLA Arizona ticket, a lot harder to get

"This tent. I called basketball's most surprising teams. Championship and the going to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. And hopefully a bunch of thrilling finishes along the way. Arizona doesn't have to go fast. 16 .7. Today, we're joined by Ian Brennan from the athletic to break down the favorites, surprises, and some of the biggest storylines to follow in the men's NCAA tournament. From wondering, I'm tip Theo Shinsuke. It's Wednesday, march 15th, and this is the lead. Even Brendan, welcome back to the lead, thank you so much for being here. Thank you for having me. So even we're going to go through the men's NCAA tournament bracket, region by region and hit some of the favorite sleepers and maybe potential busts. So let's start in the west where the number one seed is the defending national champs, the Kansas Jayhawks. How does this Kansas team compare to last year's? It's probably not as good, which is kind of crazy in the last year you had a basically all American level big man and David McCormick and you had an actual all American and those with Christian Brown who's sort of seeing his NBA career develop. They lost a lot in the off season and Bill self being Bill self have rebuilt a team, had guys who were there last year, become the stars of this year's team with Jalen Wilson, who was the third or fourth, maybe 5th option on offense last year, is one of the best offensive players in the country. This season, they've gotten by with KJ Adams as a big man. He's a little undersized, particularly compared to McCormick, but it's worked. They set a record for quadrant one wins. They won an absolutely brutal version of the big 12. I mean, Bill self is just an incredible basketball coach, but coming off a last year's title and then having the season that they had this year was a pretty rebuilt roster is super incredible even by his standards. Now, Kansas lost to Texas by 20 in the big 12 title game on Saturday without head coach Bill self who was hospitalized during the tournament. He was driven to the University of Kansas health system Wednesday night complaining of chest tightness and balance concerns. The hospital now says he underwent a standard procedure for two heart stents and is expected to make a full recovery. Bill self is expected back for March Madness. But even what weaknesses did that loss to Texas expose. Well, there were also missing Kevin mcculler who is a really important piece and how this team is sort of fit together because they're a little undersized to get by, you need a guy like mcculler who can stretch the floor on offense. What color is two for two from three. But he has been outstanding on the glass and defensively. Can match up with a bunch of different people's offensively. With the ball in his hands can make plays in the open floor. To Ron Harris, who has a points, Chris mccullers healthy, they should be fine. I think if that probably affected them as much or more than self absence and really, I think as much as anything is just fatigue, I think everybody, particularly from the big 12, it's going to be really soon to see how they play in the tournament because those teams really beat up on each other. It was an every night sort of thing. You're playing a top 15 team, basically two times a week, often. And so Kansas is big issue, I think, will just be being healthy, but also being rested and ready for another stage of the season because the big 12 took a lot out of everybody. So mccullers has back spasms and we'll see how that shakes out for Kansas when the tournament starts. But let's go on to the number two and number three seeds in the west region, which are UCLA, which went 29 and 5 this season in Gonzaga at 28 and 5. Which of those two teams strikes you as more likely to make a run in this tournament and why? It's interesting. A few weeks ago, I would have said UCLA without question. The bruins have had a great year. They have been for pretty much the entire season dominant defensive team. The problem is that they lost wing Jalen Clark for the rest of the season to injury, and he is probably the best defender of the country. There's still a good defensive team and they still have Tiger Campbell at point guard and Jaime Hawkeye is particularly who was an all American level wing, had a great season. And those are guys who can handle the ball, get shots, close out tough games, have been there and done it. There's a ton to like about UCLA. It just remains to be seen if defensively they're going to be as good or as Gonzaga a few weeks ago. I was still not very sold on because it's just by Gonzaga's crazy high standards from the last few seasons. It has not been their best team ever. Drew Timmy is still one of the best players in the country. The guys around him, you know, they're not the same dynamic force that they were when they had Jalen suggs when they had chat homegrown. These top, top tier future NBA lottery pick type guys. But I think they've kind of gotten their offensively adjusted efficiency wise, they're the best offensive team in the country. Per Ken palm dot com. Defensively, they're fine. But they are perfectly capable of getting hot for a couple of weeks and making a deep run where a month ago, two months ago, I would have said at zaga, like you don't have to worry about them. All right, well, looking deeper into this part of the bracket, is there a Cinderella team or two? You like to make a run in the west? I mean, I like Yukon. Yukon has a long time tradition of going out west and emerging from difficult brackets and making the final four. The thing about the west region really to know is that it's top 5 seeds are all top 11 in Ken palm dot com rankings. And Kansas is 9th. UCLA's second saint Mary's is 11th. Yukon is fourth. And so this Yukon team is really, really good, had a little bit of a blip in the middle of the year where they lost 5 of 6, something like that. And I just think they're at a four seed, you know, if you put them in another bracket, you might pick them to win the national title. You know, Jordan Hawkins can get going. Outside, oh man, nothing but bottom of the net. Off to a fabulous start 16 to 8 Hawkins has got 14 of the 16. Not Caroline can get going. Joey Calcutta, coming off the bench. She's a dangerous shooter. Here at Yukon. You saw it a little bit at the biggies tournament with a really get rolling and get momentum. They look like the best team in the country. But that's just this west region is crazy stacks, particularly at the top. It's going to be very, very hard to call. One of those top 5 teams probably will emerge just by sheer strength alone, but Kansas and UCLA, as the one and two seeds, I think UCLA will be happy there out west, but they certainly didn't get any help in terms of the other teams seated with them. Well, next up we move to the Midwest Houston is the number one seed here. They went 31 and three on the season, but they now have one very big injury question. Now, Mark sasser went down just 13 minutes into the basketball game. And frankly, it looked scary. You tried to cross over left to right and just collapsed. Everyone's assuming it looks like a groin strain was the official word at a Houston. Everyone's assuming that that looks. Marcus sasser was their leading scorer and the American athletic conference player of the year, but he didn't play in the championship game, which Houston lost. So even what would it mean for Houston if he's less than 100%? If he's not available, it's a big deal. It's a really big deal. You know, they've lost him before. They lost him last season, but they lost him in December. And so Kelvin Sampson had the whole year to figure out how to sort of tinker with his team to make it into the buzz saw that it eventually became. He won't have that time now. Sasser is their best player. He's their most important player. He's the reason why you take Houston deep into the tournament because when you're picking your bracket, you're looking for things that are sustainable or that work in tournament settings. And Houston has a lot of them. They're a great defensive team. They've got top end talent with Jared walker. They get a ton of offensive rebounds. And then

"Here's what's also part of this story. Bill self one two whack regular season titles at Tulsa and two Big Ten regular season titles at Illinois. So check this out. That means Bill self has coached in three different leagues in the past 25 years. And one 21 regular season conference championships in that span. What? What are we talking about here? What are we even talking about here? Dozier for the championship. And the other thing that makes it interesting is, I don't want to paint with a broad brush here, but in modern history, you look at most of John calipari's great teams at Kentucky, and it's mostly tied to you just enrolled incredible 5 star freshman projected lottery pics. It's John wall DeMarcus cousins. This Carl Anthony towns Devin Booker, you get the point. Anthony, Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd gilchrist, right? At Kansas, this team is mostly guys who were on last season's team and they've been developed and they're playing bigger roles. Jaylen Wilson was the third leading scoring last season team. 11.1 points per game. He's now the leading score at Kansas 19.6. Yes, after that, it's Grady dick a 5 star freshman and Kevin mcculler transfer from Texas tech. But after that, fourth leading score, KJ Adams, averaged one point per game last season. Now he's at 10.6. After that, dewan Harris, averaged 5.4 points per game last season. Now 8.7 starting point guard. Joseph yes to put 2.1 points per game last season, 3.7 this season, a slight increase, but he's a meaningful player this season. In other words, this isn't like Bill self enrolled the top ranked recruiting class in the country with three projected lottery picks. And that's how Kansas is competing for a national championship again. Kansas is largely competing for back to back national titles because role players on last season's team. Have developed into meaningful players, if not stars. For this season's team. Four of the top 6 scores at Kansas were on last season's team. They're now just playing bigger roles, and they're flourishing, and it is why, like I've said many times over the past few days, build self would get my vote for national coach of the year. I understand to vote. If you just said right now, hey GP, here's 500 bucks. Can you make a case for Shaka smart? I could convince you that Shaka smart should be the national coach of the year. There's a compelling if that convincing case to be made for Shaka. I got no problem with anybody saying my vote would go to shotgun smart. But I would lean ever so slightly to Bill self based on everything I just said. I agree, but you want to talk Shaka? I agree. It would be self here, but I think we should hit on shock as well and what he finally not finally, but just materially accomplished this week. We'll call this period new paragraph. Shaka smart's current school and one of his former schools. Both run both want to outright leak titles on Tuesday night. We're going to get into that next.

"The best month of the year is here where less than two weeks away from selection Sunday and then it's the NCAA tournament on CBS. Go here for the championship. Yeah, buddy. That was my favorite part. In fact, as you were showing the Chalmers clip and cut it right before Doja for the championship, I was like, that's an editing mistake. How could you cut out Dozier for the championship and then you circle back? That was terrific. I'm fired up. I am so fired up and I hope everyone listening is also fired up. My thanks. To the one and only Jim Nance. For doing that and appearing on the show, we had some we already as we are watching live on YouTube. We have people claiming that his AI that is actually gymnast. He cut that on Monday for us and was all too kind to do it. This is, of course, his final season doing the NCAA tournament for CBS. If you are curious on those calls, we will detail each one at the start of the show. You can check out the podcast description. I'll tell you which year each of those calls was from. The very first one you heard was Jim Nance and Bill raftery in 1986 on his first game he ever called for CBS. Duke versus old dominion in the second round of the tournament back then, the NCAA produced the first round CBS did not start broadcasting until the second round. So this will be a 32nd final four, appropriately enough. It's going back to Houston, where he went to college, and he'll be on his 37th and final call. So there was no other choice, but to get Jim nantz involved in the show, Jim, thank you, thank you very, very much. That was that was awesome to put together and thank you, of course, to not as well for helping. With that said, hey there. Gary Parrish. If you haven't yet subscribed to the CBS sports college basketball YouTube channel, do that while you're here. All right, dead leg. Let's get into it. On Tuesday night, Kansas Pete Texas tech, 67 63 to secure at least to share the big 12 title for the 17th time in 20 seasons under Bill self. It is a ridiculous accomplishment. Obviously, I have no idea what the so called power conference is going to look like going forward. Neither does the PAC 12 commissioner. That said, I am comfortable saying no power conference coach will ever again win 17 conference regular season titles in 20 years. My first question for you, dead leg, do you agree with that statement? I do agree with that statement. And I saw earlier this morning, let me bring it up so I got it right. Did you see CJ Moore tweet on this? I actually read his story at the athletic because it had a lot of stuff. Like I know the surface level, like this is amazing. Let me tell you how in 30 seconds type of stuff for television, but CJ had some more stuff in there among them that since Bill self has been at Kansas and won 17 regular season titles, the school that is in second place is North Carolina with 9. He has 8 more conference titles in the past 20 years than any other school in a high major league. And if Bill self the CJ suite, if Bill self were a university, which seems like Bill self should be a universe. Exactly. The universe is perfect for this podcast. It builds a lot more university. You shouldn't be. Let's be real. But if you were a university, he'd rank 9th all time in regular season, high major conference championships. As a person, if you were a university. So this is never going to be duplicated. And what I said on headquarters last night, and I think this morning I did an overnight hit too. I said, Kay, you should be a lock for one seat. I think two games ago. Now it's undeniable. Kansas is going to be a lock. There's nothing that's going to happen. They got 15 quad one wins. It's a record. They're going to get more number one overall seats. It actually probably be Kansas right now. She can't just be the number one team in the country. The metrics still have Houston. In fact, kind of strangely enough, Kansas is behind Purdue and predict metrics if you want to just strictly go Ken palm right now. And some of this is because it's lost. But it's Houston, UCLA, Bama, Tennessee, Connecticut, Purdue Kansas is 7th at Ken pump. So there is a little bit of a divergence here in terms of when we watch Kansas and they did get pushed. I mean, it got pushed by Texas tech and boy, that was just a sour sour way for it to go for tech fans when you see Kevin mcculler get that ball on the scramble and hit the putback after it felt like 6 different guys were trying to get their hands on it and closing seconds there. So they did get a tight, tight game against Texas tech, which is outside the tournament picture. But Kansas in many ways feels like right there with Houston is maybe just the team you trust most or that might be most deserving of number one billing and I actually think right now I would put Kansas as the number one overall seed in the field ahead of Houston ahead of Alabama and it had a UCLA bracket projections aren't going to reflect that. But this might just be a matter of time more than anything else because the more quad one wins that get racked up. If they come, got to win at Texas this weekend, but if that happens, I just think the high end is going to be so irrefutable and plus like they'll have 6 losses at most. There will be a very, very good case for it. Well, let me ask you this because I've genuinely not conflicted. That's not the right word, but confused on how to handle this. I'm usually pretty certain. I mean, while acknowledging any kind of ranking or seating is subjective, I'm usually pretty certain and like, well, this is what I should do about this team or that team or whatever team. I don't know how to handle this Kansas situation right now, because currently I have them the jayhawks behind Houston and Alabama. It's one Houston two Alabama three Kansas in the top 25 and one. If you care for UCLA 5 Purdue. Houston is better in just about every computer, if not every computer. Alabama is also having a historically great season in its league. But Kansas does have four more quadrant one wins than anybody else in the country. Kansas has 6 more quadrant one wins than Alabama and 11 more quadrant one wins than Houston.

"No one has gone before. And beyond. Explore the black voices collection on paramount plus. Let's fly. It was a really beautiful scene. Largely because of the crowd, the whiteout, but also because of Indiana's participation in it. I thought it was awesome that coaching staff to be wearing Spartan strong gear and really being a part of what was an emotional and yes, special night inside the presidents that are so. I hope Michigan and I certainly are Michigan state fans are appreciative of Mike Woodson and his staff and that Indiana program participating in the way that they did because they made it and even I think more special experience. From basketball perspective, yeah, those are two teams that are going to play in the instantly tournament. I don't know how far either one of them will go, but that wasn't a situation where it was high stakes from a bubble perspective. They'll both hear their names called on selection Sunday. On the big 12 thing, it starts with Kansas on Monday night winning at TCU as a three and a half point underdog. And I really do think that and maybe I'm just in my own little bubble. But that was the night where people started to go, hold up. Do you realize what Bill self was doing? I feel like we've said this for us. That is a bubble because we've been saying this for 6 weeks and maybe keep going GP, but I almost feel like what Kansas did on Monday and then marquette borderline locking up the one scene in the biggies tournament. Now people might be like, wow, maybe this team can go to the final four with Kansas. People are saying like, are they real? Am I this team actually repeat? We've been telling you it's extremely on the table as well as the achievement is. Yeah, all I know is I woke up on Tuesday morning and headquarters was asking me about it and I had radio stations asking me about it. And yes, it's our job. We have to talk about this stuff for roughly three hours a week in podcast form. And so we've touched on it, feels like a million times at this point. But it seemed like it finally broke through then. Like, do you realize Bill self lost four of his top 5 scores, 6 of his top 8 scores, two first round NBA draft picks. And still has a team that's 14 and 5 in quadrant one with zero additional losses. They have four more quad one wins than anybody else in the country. Texas is second with ten and Kansas and Texas are not coincidentally. The two teams that are competing for the big 12 title. What's interesting is that Kansas does have way more quad one wins than anybody else and that is among the reasons some Kansas fans think Keynes should be ranked number one. If you want to rank Kansas number one, it is fine with me. I actually think in terms of body of work, you can make a case right now for Kansas for Alabama for Houston. And yes, for Purdue as well. Again, when focusing on entire body of work, at this point, you could reasonably have those four schools in basically any order. But it should be noted that Kansas is still 6 in the net, 7th at Ken palm, not really number one in any of the computers that we ever reference. So if you're somebody who maybe has Kansas third or fourth, instead of first or second, well then that's the thing you would point to to rationalize that. Either way, this is not normal, to lose as much as he lost from a national champion. And it's not like they enrolled. They had a Harold recruiting class. But like granny Dick's the only one making a big impact. I mean, this is basically Grady dick 5 star freshman. Grady dick. Kevin mcculler transfer and a bunch of guys on last season's team who now have bigger roles on this season's team. It's Jalen Wilson dejuan Harris, Grady dick Kevin mcculler, and a bunch of guys who didn't matter last season who are mattering now among them KJ Adams. Dwight Harris, Jalen Harris, are the only zwan Harris at Jalen Wilson, are the only two players in Kansas program. Who were on Kansas team last season and averaged more than 2.1 points per game. For Bill stuff to be able to do this in this way speaks to his ability to everything, develop players within his program, recruit, and get the most out of his roster basically every year. He is on his way to winning what will be a 17th big 12 title in a 20 year span. Again, it's why he is widely regarded as the best coaching college basketball. Here's what's going to happen, okay? Right now, Kansas. This is a joke, man. This is a joke. It's got 14 quad one wins, and we're not even in March. That's the record. There's never been a team with more than 14. Kids is gonna finish. Minimum 17? It's 20 on the table. 20 quad one wins. This is not what? What? Again, what? Number one overall seats. So in play. And I might, I might need to be talked out of it in a week's time at this point because the top end of the resume is fantasyland stuff. And they're doing it in the toughest conference in the country. And they lost 65% of their production from last season from a national championship winning team. It is unreal. So I'm glad you brought it up. I know Kansas fans are all too dialed into this and they are not taking it for granted. I do feel like a segment of our audience and college basketball fans, they're just like, yeah, it's Kansas. They're good again. This is outrageous what they are doing. And no, and the ironic part is, yes, Kansas ranks number one as it should and strength of record a result base metric. It is number one in that metric, Bama is two. But in the predictive, not so much. And some of that is because it has taken because the league is so good and it's taken losses and it's lost to teams that rank below Kansas in those metrics, you know, it's 7th at Ken palm, 8 and BPI, third and staggering, 6 in the net. So it's still top end. But it's not one across the board, but from a resume perspective, just incredible, which leads me to the fact that we have gotten to this point with all of that stuff on Kansas dossier and you look at the big 12 standings, Texas still right there, man. 11 and four, and I thought it was a really important win on Tuesday. No nonsense, 72 54 win over Iowa state, which isn't fully healthy. Someone said this along the way and I forget who mentioned it, but I completely nod my head when I heard it. Iowa states one of those teams, it's ready to get the hell out of big 12 play and get to the tournament. And it's not coming for the next two and a half weeks, but it has managed three wins in the past month and it is a good team. But maybe there is something about the way TJ runs his stuff, the quality of teams are so good. It just makes it that much of a steeper climb. It needs to play non big 12 teams. It does have a little bit of a respite. In theory coming up, Oklahoma, going to go out to go out to Ames, and then West Virginia will go out to Ames before Iowa state's got to finish on the road against Baylor, but Texas gets an important win to stay even in the big 12 race. Now it's got to go to Baylor to TCU, which is why I recently said, I still think that when Kansas and Texas play in Austin on March 4th throughout the regular season, I think Texas spot there at best will be to get a win over Kansas to tie the jayhawks in the league standards. Kansas over TCO on Monday night was obviously massive Texas a and M over Tennessee on Tuesday night, obviously massive. I think you could argue the biggest win anybody's got over the past couple of days is marquette winning at creighton because the golden eagles are now 14 and three in the big east that's two games I had a Providence crate and Xavier in the win column of the league standings one game better than Providence in the lost column of the league standings.

"Number three Kansas won their 5th in a row as they held on to beat number 24 TCU 63 58, so Kansas a tones were a 23 point loss at home to TCU about a month ago and holds TCU to just 30% shooting from the field. Kansas coach Bill self says he's happy the way his team is playing. Yeah, I'm proud of this team. They've done great. We have an accomplished Jack. But we put ourselves in a favorable position to maybe do something. But this league is so hard. Grady dick led Kansas with 19 points, Kevin mcculler June ran at 15, while Mike miles junior led TCU with 13 Jacobi Kohl's had 12. Bob Stephens, Fort Worth, Texas.

"Yeah, but yeah, of course, pettifer, but who's the other guy? Yeah, who's the MJ rice? Yeah. MJ rice is probably the one that we're talking about. But they've got wings now. Like that's the beauty right now is, you know, to me, obviously when you bring it in, you know, some of these color can just play wherever you need them. If you need them to, yeah. He's awesome. I love mcculler. I think he's just such a winning basketball player. He is, I know that there was issues when he was at Texas tech in terms of headaches involving stuff that wasn't necessarily the basketball part of the situation. I don't know. I just know him on the court and I think he does all the right things and he does whatever you need and he's an intangible guy. He's a winner. He helped build that Texas tech program. So I take Kevin mcculler in a heartbeat, especially as my secondary ball handler. He's going to have point guards on that team where he doesn't have to be your primary guy. And you wonder how much he left Texas tech because of their offense, too. And wanting to have a little more freedom. Yep. I think, and I know that these guys don't technically count as winners because only one of them entered the draft and he was the transfer that came in. But I think the team that I'm most excited to see the season is going to be crate. I'm all in. Last year in the biggies tournament. I told you this, I shoved all my chips in the middle. I went all in. I was Phil hell youth in it. I was all in on Trey Alexander. I think he's going to be a complete stud next year. I think he's going to be a guy that we're talking about. On this very show, yeah, you know what if he came back? It might have been different, but you know, when you're a top 20 pick, you got to go. Ryan. Stud. I know you love that dude. Arthur kalama. Stud, right? He was really good down the stretch of the season. You throw the anchor in there with Ryan kelp Brenner and you got a guy like Baylor shearman who can knock down shots and kind of play off the ball and you have all of a sudden three guys that can initiate offense. All of whom can make shots. Surrounding by a 7 foot one dude that was baby the best defensive player in the big east last year. I know. No, they could be and they're just going to be so much fun to watch offensively. That's going to be the and McDermott coaching team offensively. The offense is, there's going to be so many times where I take those cell phone videos of my screen and I'm like, oh wow, look at this, look at this set that Greg McDermott's ran. How pretty was this? I'm excited because I haven't been to Omaha in a while..

"And I'm interested to see how many of those looks he gets when you do have pretty dick and Jalen Wilson. And for jaylen, I'm glad he's back. He had sort of this redemption tour later in the season. He performed well enough at the combine, some teams late second undrafted free agent type range. Now you can run it back, be more of a focal point to show the more expansionary game too. Yeah, I mean, I'm a big fan of this Kansas roster for next season. I think that with dewan Harris as well, really underrated lead guard. This is going to be the best defensive backcourt in the country next year with the WAN Harris and Kevin mcculler. I think that they should try to find maybe one more big, like there's a lot of reliance there on earnest due to. Maybe they think Zach Clemens is going to be able to step into a role. I kind of sneaky liked Clements. I like them too. In the moments that we saw him this year before the injury. So I don't know. I'll be interested on him. I think that this team has a real chance to win a national title again next year. And for how much they lost, given that, you know, Remy Martin is not going to be there. Jalen Coleman lands isn't going to be there. Oh chai isn't going to be there. We can go up and down the list of guys that they're going to lose. Christian Brown obviously another important one. Bill self has done an incredible job of reloading here. All right, so I assume Mitchell lightfoot will be there because he's just contractually obligated to play for cancer for the rest of his life and what a way to go out. You're a college for 8 years and what a national championship on the way out the door. It's perfect. So happy for him too. Okay. Next up, let's go Harrison Ingram. Maybe. Let's do it. Let me think of Harrison Ingram's decision. Loved it. I love that he left..

"I do. He can also take it off the rim and push it up and transition to. He doesn't have to get rid of it. So he can create something when the games like spaced out. Yeah. Okay. Actually, weirdly a lot of Jeremy sohan questions today too. I am a big fan though. I think the rest of his game scales very quickly if he shoots it. And because of that, like if he shoots it, he's definitely an NBA starter. Like no questions asked. So I would take him in the lottery. And I think he's a really good starter. If he ends up being able to shoot it at like a 36% clip. Okay, if max Christie stays in the draft, is there a chance someone takes a reach on the potential and what's the highest that would happen? That is from NATO Jacobs. Yes, but it would be like it would be, was the question in the first round or how high? I think that let's ballpark it at first round. Yeah, that's fine. If I were just without knowing definitively, I'd say probably the 26 to 30 range. He needs time. He eats another guy that needs reps. I'd like for him to go back to school. If he doesn't have a first round promise, that's what I would encourage him to do. Yeah. Agree. I don't really have anything else to say about that. I think there's chance he goes in the first. I think there's a chance I end up with him as a top 30 guy, depending on what other guys do. And if they stay in the draft, don't go in the draft. I really buy it as soon as the shooting comes along. And I do think he is going to shoot it at some point. The shot looks great. There's no concern there, really. From draft deeper, our friend Nathan. Is it realistic that we may look back and see Kevin mcculler is one of the top 30 players in this class, really feel like it could happen. Traffic deeper loves them, some chemical color. I actually really like them a color too. I thought it was weird that like, hey, I'm on. It's a draft, but if not, maybe you Gonzaga, maybe Kansas. So this has been like another weird transfer portal, and I story. I do think he can do more offensively than he showed at Texas tech, and that was sort of like scheme based. I have to see more of it. Top 30. Yeah, possible, but I think I have him like 60th right now, so there'd have to be some jumps for him to make. Yeah, I mean, look, if he learns, the answer is, could we look back on him and he could be a top 30 guy? Yes, if he learns to shoot, he could be that. Like if he becomes a 38% three point shooter in the NBA, he probably is a top 30 guy in the class because the defense is as good as it is. Like just straight up. One of the 5 best perimeter defenders in this class. I think I'd probably take Dyson Daniels over him. I don't know if anyone else immediately springs to mind. No..

"The best behind the defense. You can't argue that. No, I don't think you can. Listen, you're seeing it now, right? I mean, how good they've been has been a surprise to me to some degree, but the culture is still there. Like that's the thing that I think rob is the difference right now between Texas and Texas tech. Like Texas, there's no culture yet, right? There's still a bunch of guys that came over that honestly, hadn't won anywhere. Here they've won. So they still got, and like you said, the three star guys, even the second tier transfers, probably fit better. Like, Bryson Williams fits better here. I mean, listen, Rodney Terry coached him. And he didn't take him to Texas. So he gets better here than maybe a Marcus car, some of those other guys rob the Texas was able to relay that we thought were the elite level transfers, right? I just think that the toughness level between the two teams is diamond close. I mean, Texas, you watch them play. I don't trust them with any lead. They could be up 30 points, and it's like, well, this is not over. Whereas when you watch Texas tech go to Kansas and playing that, I know they lose, but I mean, they are tough, they compete, you go into an environment like that and I don't feel house. I mean it's culture is the word. I totally agree with Jeff and both of you guys. I just think it's fascinating that Mark Adams and Jeff, you need to tone to this. What did you think? Well, the higher when it was made? I didn't like it. I didn't like to hire because again, like you said, I didn't think he'd have the charisma to be able to recruit. Like I knew he could, their defense was based on him. But I thought at 60, what is the 65 now? He was 64 years old. I'm never a proponent of hiring a guy when there's in their mid 60s for the first job. I'm not. And I'm old. But I would say the biggest question I have was could he recruit a high level, but the transfer portal has changed to me. And you kept enough good players, although the craziest part of all this is like Shannon has been hurt. Mcculler has been hurt and hasn't been what we thought they'd be, right? Both those guys, he's doing it without them being anything close to a 100%. That's if Kyler Edwards has stayed. Cholera Edwards is balling at Houston. If he was still around, I mean, he's having a great year, but you're right. He's done a great job of keeping the main nucleus outside of Edwards intact, brand tarantula that fit, and they just guard their ass off. They're a joy to watch. I love watching Texas tech, but I can't say the same about the text long ones. So what was it like last night here? I mean, it was awesome. You guys are hungry. So I was going to bring some beer, but you know, I can't even do that with freshman raw. Providing for minors. But I don't need that. We don't need that in my resume. What was it like last night? It was so high level donor hold up in that they whatever that is. Yeah, that was crazy. Charlie, I think you organize all the stuff that's here today. But it began to camp out with us. Had football coach came about tacos and the whole team can not give up. And we had a four star crew. I decided to do that. Yeah. The need for useless game. That's pretty good, right? We've been fooled this entire topic. There's actually a GoFundMe. That's all right. And I gave a hundred bucks to me. $13,000. Thank you for your dash. You know, I beat your chest, Jeff. Hundred bucks, baby. I give a hundred bucks to it. Why not? Listen. If we have been students now, again, home or you were too cool for this kid. I mean, you were done that on the team. You want to give a heart? Do you want to give it a hundred bucks? I didn't even know there was one. Yeah, I'm gonna send you the link. I'm gonna send you a link. You can help me. You can give 200. I know what you make. Okay. Okay. Graduate here. Wow. How about that? So we give 6000 homework. Can you beat that? I don't know. I don't know if I got that kind of course. He probably would. But that's the stack. I don't think it's happened, right? I know. We got somebody else coming in the tent now. This is our friend. How you doing? You want to come on a podcast? Sure. What are you bringing? Chick-fil-A? Where's it from? All right. Rolls college. Cool. What's your name? Yes. Leah, all right, you got to speak up later. So hold on. Leah, how are you? Before you before you start, I want to ask you, what do you think of Chris beard? See, I like that swab, but I'm not really into the. I don't know details, so I just kind of go with these two boys say. We know what they say about Chris. What are you going to the game? So when he comes out, what do you think you're going to do when you first see him come out on the floor? Do you think you're going to hear you think you're going to boo? You think you're going to yell all sorts of bad shit out of them? What do you think you need to do? I don't think it'll be good. What percentage of the people in there do you think are going to cheer for Chris beard tomorrow? Less than 1%. Wow. I think that's hot. I think it'll be zero. I really do. Are you guys scared of what is going to happen? I've seen some bad stuff happen in arenas when this. And that's the one thing I don't want to see. Right. Right. It's herbal. Yep. We're obviously. That's going to happen. You hear that problem? The physical they do not conduct. You got to keep it. Rob rob got one of your verbal back in the day. I don't know if you know rob rob's almost 40 now. So come on, I'm not looking for you. That's a lot. He's 32. He's a star for him. He's an all American NBA. And he had two 20. Literally pretty would have won the whole thing if he had stayed healthy. They would have won the national title. And so people should be yelled at him when he came back from the second turn ACL. Here we go to Indiana. What would they yell up? Well, they were the whole arena was standing in ACL, which, you know, is like, whatever. The worst is at Michigan state. She can stay with these kids were young. They hope I blew my knee out again. So, Mike, actually, my coch heard it. He was yelling back at him. We're losing about like 30. So I'm sure talking there's always thrilled that in his postgame they were talking about two students that were yelling at that stuff and not about their win. But yeah, I agree with you guys. As long as it's not like, as long as it's not physical and it's just saying stuff is fair game. Rob, can we get you on a little tour of the tent? Yeah, please. The cribs. Cribs and whatever greater vote. This person Ted rob. It's a 6 person ten. Is there anything in here that can not be filmed? Before I show anybody you're good? All right. And the Walmart factors from him weren't. Okay. One, two, how many beds? What do you got here? So you're gonna fit. We do rotation. So not everyone spends a night. So there's two people in here at once. Probably about three or four. Three or four people in here. What's the what's the temperature going to be tonight? It gets cold at night. Right? Shit. I mean, it's beautiful right now, but it's down in the 20s, right? 25, rob. They tougher than you. You would have made a ten minute no. You guys, what do you guys do for heat?
