Fresh "Mccormick" from Rosie on the House

"Hey, Rosie. Quick questions. I mean, McCormick Ranch got one of those on all brick houses built in the mid seventies and You know the problem? It seems like we've got really smelly drainage. I mean, I don't know why that is. It seems like about all of them, but especially in the bathrooms. It's just a real foul odor. I just wondered if you had the tips on what with, you know something I could do to maybe treat that. Does this have a peaked roof? Or is it a flat roof home? It's gotta It's gotta peak. It's gotta slope to it. Okay, that's called a ridge line. The top of that peak is a Ridgeline does that Ridge line run north and South? Or east and west. So the ridge line that would go north and south, Okay? And on the Uh, North. Okay. So on the east side of the roof, are there any plumbing vents sticking out of the roof? You know what? I'm not at the house right now. I'll have to check on that. Okay. The first the first thing I would have you do Is if you have any plumbing vents, penetrating your roof on a sloped roof on the east side of the house or the north side of the house. I would tell you to go buy some a B s pipe Foreign JBs pipe and extend all your vents two ft higher than they currently are and see if the problem solves itself. That's that's a $10 solution. If you feel comfortable climbing on a ladder and walking on your roof, it's a It's $100 solution. If you need to hire somebody to come, do it. It takes all of about 15 minutes to take care of the whole problem that very well may be all you need to do you need to get the plumbing vent. The methane gas up high enough above the roof that it carries the over away. If that's not the problem, Jennifer what's the product? He's not on a septic system he's on he's on sewer and McCormick Ranch. What's the product we use at home in our plumbing drains? Bio clean. Bio clean is an enzyme that actually eats the protein in your soil lines that are causing the stink. And where are you buying? That Jennifer had to just get off the Internet last time. Sometimes some different plumbers will carry it. Okay, but you just you put it in at night time or when you're going to be away for a little while, you know, a couple days. It's perfect. Has to kind of sit in there and you just treat them once a month. You know, Port down your kitchen sink and your toilets and your tubs and I probably scared him half to death because I told me and I just spent a bunch of money on our pipes. But we have septic as well. We have a 60. We have a 60 year old home that is that uses a septic tank and we we actually had recently line Our our waistlines. Uh, we've we've We've got employee We call the nose. Uh, we'll get the nose over to your house. Sniff it out. Take a look at the orientation of the home. Take a look at the plumbing pictures. Uh, and give you some Very distinct recommendations. That will be little to no cost. So save his phone number. That's a follow up for me to do next week. We'll get by Mike's house with the nose. And sort him out. Because that that is kind of a very aggravating. Especially I want to live with that in your home, especially when you want to invite guests. So we're well, you've got to always explain it away like I don't know where that came from. You can't blame it on the dog every time. Yeah. Special events could return to Chicago this summer

"Good news when it comes to the pandemic events in Chicago may start returning to normal this summer. Glenn Marshall is live in Grant Park with more Glenn. Good morning, Dan. That's more people are starting to get vaccinated. Chicago was receiving some hope. The mayor suggested bringing back those outdoor festivals for this summer making summer 2021 fill a little bit like summer 2019. According to the Chicago Sun Times, the City Council committee authorized the full calendar of special events for the summer. That same article suggests that a mayoral aide hopes the city's $1.8 billion in new federal relief funds will help pay for certain events like the taste of Chicago blues and gospel fest as well as the air and water show. UFC Fight Night: Derrick Lewis demolishes Curtis Blaydes

"Let's go right into this thing. Let us discuss the heavyweight division in the ufc because it was on full display last week. It'll be on display this weekend as well and next month with the title on the line but let's focus on ufc vegas nineteen and derek lewis's incredible ferocious and absolutely vicious knockout of curtis blades. In the main event after a really strong opening round from curtis blades lewis delivers one of the nastiest knockout. You will ever see in the second round coming through with the biggest main event upset in the. Us's michael bisbee became. The ufc middleweight champion. A you have c. One ninety nine knocking out. Luke rocco network going to begin with you kind sir. Nice and easy your reaction to a massive win for derek lewis less than a week ago surprise. Surprise i guess is where i would start out. I picked curtis blades. I thought he would be able to at least take down. Derek lewis enough to win the fight and lo and behold. He didn't take him down at all. So that was probably actually the biggest surprise about the fight What wasn't surprising. That derek lewis after being down in the first round after losing that second round blades was doing really well on the feet. And then derek lewis just did what they're glues does. Big are uppercut. Is the fight so relatively shocking shocking result in the sense that derek one. I was fairly confident that blades. Who get it done. But not so not so surprising that derek lewis got another highlight reel nocco assay. We kind of got your instant reaction after the fight on saturday on the post by now you've talked about on the side but now they've had some time to let it all sink in and spoken about it on on different platforms. How big was this win. For derek lewis in the in the grand scheme of things that heavyweight. I mean anytime you win in the top five especially when the heavyweight title is only is within less than a month of your big victory. It's a big thing. I just think. Derek lewis is one of those fighters that he said it himself like the title is great but he's fighting for that paycheck. You got the bonus. You got bulbs paychecks. He's back taxes. Which is obviously still reeling from the massive blizzard. So i'm sure he's going to do great things with that. We saw what he did when the hurricane happened. Driving around saving people so For a normal fighter getting this big win on a big platform so close to not just the title fight probably another a contender fight with jazzy. No rose straight and cyril gone. They're going to be like. Oh this is great for my career. I'm looking at it from the perspective of derek. Lewis wear awesome. I got both of my paychecks and fifty thousand dollars more so yeah massive night for the black beast again. Prize fighters derek lewis through to be one of the most reliable prize fighters on the ufc roster. So yeah ten attempt forms across the board from the heavyweight contender to sort of build upon that jose. Is it time to look at derek. Lewis is not just a fun prizefighter but a serious threat to the title. It's not like he wasn't before but people always view. Derek is this you know fun. Follow on social media this hilarious guy this quote machine who can land knock on at any point of a fight as watch the sport at all outside of his fight weeks doesn't really care about titles but it seems like he's putting together now i know he's added some pieces to his team. You saw lauren. Murphy's husband joe in his corner who's excellent jujitsu coach in practitioner. His own right time to stop looking. Derek lewis as the funny guy with the with the best social media. Game outside of darren taylor. Moore is a legit threat to st bay francis and gado john jones. Whoever is in this division. I would say derek lewis has already the best twitter follow third. Darren tools jason lewis at this point. Because derek lewis is winning fighting and being funny darren till is only doing one of those things. So i i would say derek lows. Of course you have been taken seriously if he touches your jaw you have to take him seriously because you're probably not going to remember when after the referee pulls him off of you so i don't know the answer to this because we haven't seen we don't know we don't know that's like saying oh francis in who is putting together all of these this team to make him a complete fire. All of his fights are like less than two minutes long. So we just don't know for all we know. Derek lewis is the best gogo planet practitioner. It all of the ufc. We're just never going to see it because at the second touches you you die. So if you fight someone like steep bay That is obviously a master game. Planner i think that's better. That's that'll be a better gauge of derek. lewis skills. because we've seen him fight dan mccormick. Who is the definition of a complete mixed martial arts and that wasn't a great night for derek lewis. Yes he took that on like Real short notice to only a month after he got that beatdown he did win. Let's not forget volkov. Put it on their clothes until again. Derek lewis touched his jaw and killed a man on live television. So yeah i don't know. Tb all say. I know that's a cop out. But i don't think anyone knows i think everyone will agree with.

This is quite fresh news. What is the reaction from yemen to do. Most people think this plan designation of who these as foreign terrorist organization was politically motivated. Well the news came in for us yemen time just this morning and so people are really trying to get to grips with us. At the moment. It's been mixed reactions here in yemen. Answer the otherwise known who have come out and in turn accused. The united states government of acting in a terrorist way other reactions from aid organizations have been the same message that has been given to the united states government for the last few months when such a move was being suggested which is that on many levels. This would be catastrophic and it would certainly have a widespread impact on the humanitarian situation. Here on the ordinary of yemenis who are trying to live their lives your organization the norwegian refugee council. What are you looking at are concerned about. It may not be possible to reverse this decision on if not then it is possible to put in place. The kind of protections in safeguards that are needed so these would be safeguards immediately and for all humanitarian activities near monitoring supplies. It also safeguards so that imports of critical and food and other supplies can come in and out of the country would go a long way towards mitigating or softening some of the impacts of this designation and as for the rest we i suppose we will have to see on the twentieth of january when the new administration comes in we are asking for the biden administration to make yemen one of its number one priorities on day. "Don't you i. I wouldn't say. I'm an expert. But i have more affinity and greater experience with hot sauces than i do say lobster which is why. That's why i had to leave main. The tourism board found out in. Like you gotta go kid. You gotta go all those that you've been eating instead of lobster. Yeah you gotta go. Yeah but i mean just personally your you seem to have something against franks the consistency of it. It it it. It makes sense to me that that people were saying. No you just use it for for buffalo wings. I'm like okay. That makes sense to me because any time i've tried to use franks anything else it just ca- consistency is too watery whereas talulah has a little bit of heft to it. Which is one of the reasons. I like it. Got it in the cupboard right now. I do know all right on the not in the fridge. which which brings it up to an. We may now have gone into the tangent portion every finished with the business news. Yeah yeah yeah investing news you can drop off now right because you're just gonna get angry Listening to where we go from here but the whole spice thing. We were Today you're you're a big fan of throwing away spices as quickly as possible correct. That isn't overskated when they get within a few months of the expiration date year jettisoning. No you made the comment to me. That there's there's Someone in your home to whom you're related by marriage who look at the expiration date on spices and when they are past the expiration day throws them away and buys new spices. And i said i support that decision. Because the reason you have any spice is so that it can provide flavor and overtime. They're gonna lose flavor. Yeah big spices. Bought you off. I see but there people at mccormick necessarily thrilled with the comments. I've made about their company. Well i it's my position as you should..

"I'm roundabout plenty but the fact of the matter is that this is a better retail performer. In terms of the stock over the last five years than amazon costco walmart and target. I'm not saying it's a better business. I'm not saying it's like by this. As opposed to the. I'm just saying over the past five years as well as those four retail giants have done and they've done really well you're doing even better as an investor over the past five years if you own shares at burlington stores which do not Yeah it is one of the quieter But kickers out there And it did take a big hit as a stock as as many things Did february to march was basically cut in half that ended up being For burlington as well as many other things a great buying opportunity for those got in there at at the bottom. And it's a really as i say a testament to The trust that the market has in management here in the business model the off price Model that burlington uses because it has not been a profitable year for the company and they are not yet able to point to really improving trends of course For something that was previously known for coats. There aren't a lot of people that are necessarily going to have to buy as many coats this winter. If they're going to be stuck inside all the time so They have a better looking future than a present And their past is the reason that the future looks bright at all thank three years ago. Mccormick paid four point. Two billion dollars to reckitt benckiser's food division to buy french's mustard and frank's red hot sauce today. Mccormack ask is buying another hot sauce. Brand talulah for eight hundred million dollars and shares mccormick backs three years to win. They made that deal. I get that it was a larger amount of money that they were shelling out to buy french francs but the stock was down that day today. Shares up a little bit one two percent and this this seems like a good acquisition. Yeah as they go into the flavors and fragrances Part of the the i'll And expand continue to expand away from the spices where they've already not quite cornered the market although they have twenty percent of global spice market larger percentage of that north america And they have both both branded spices and they do. "When holiday season start. Coming into play Thanksgiving and Christmas or two really key seasons for them They do they do boost that adspend a little bit, and they've also been working really hard this you know they. They had this really cool. APP. I mean McCormick Tech Company. Right. They've got a really cool APP called flavor maker at. It incorporates immersive technology, it incorporates augmented reality. You can actually scan the spices in your spice cabinet into this APP. So then you have an inventory of your spice cabinet on your phone, which let me tell you as the cook of the House it's really helpful when you go to the store and you know that you need some garlic powder or some time or something if you're not sure you have it in your. Spice Cabinet, you check your phone and you can confirm one way or the other. So it's little things like that. So it's not one of those companies that has to spend so much that they're injured in your face all the time, but they definitely do have ways of getting things out there at the appropriate times of the year and I suspect we'll more and more of that as we go into this holiday for. Why they, split the stock to for one. Well I mean honestly when when you The normal reason, the reason most companies give most management team gives they believe it will provide greater liquidity and that's exactly what they stated in the call they noted had been eighteen years since the split since they last stock. So two thousand and two they split in the pre split share price then and was fifty two dollars and change, but they noted they just feel like it. Provides greater liquidity. It's going to be appreciated by individual investors and employees more gives people an opportunity to buy into the stock because you know the fact that matter is now you've got basically a two hundred dollar stock in a fluctuating a little a little over little under and in we've seen that the market does care about having that liquidity making it a little bit more accessible. To your retail investors even even in the age of fractional shares. So, yeah. I mean you know two for one split that's that's neither here nor there it's the same size pizza but. I noted earlier on twitter today I'm twice as rich and I feel pretty good about that. I'm kidding by the way I'm not twice as rich. I've got twice as many shares, but it's the same amount of money. So always remember that folks a split is just just a mechanism. It's not something that really creates any value in the near term. Apple, takes a thirty percent cut in its APP store. Google looked at the waiter and said, we'll have what they're having. Google announced it is going to start enforcing rules that require APP developers distributing android software on the Google play store to use its in APP payments system..

"We've got another retailer gearing up for the holidays we have. Another tech giant. I'm not sure how to categorize story. We'll get to it soon. Enough. We're going to start with the spice maker though because shares of McCormack actually down a little bit despite the fact that McCormick's third quarter profits in revenue came in higher than expected. They also announced a two-for-one stock split I WANNA, get to the stocks but in a minute, I'm assuming the slight drop one, two percent that we're seeing in the stock is the guidance because McCormack if I understand this correctly, they resumed their fiscal year guidance and it was a little bit lower than wall. Street was expecting. Maybe Based on the numbers I had seen that guidance they resumed was was right in the range that had been. The average expectations that had been on the street for some time now. But yeah, they they had pulled guidance a little while back and felt comfortable and getting back into it. This quarter. I think it's probably a couple of things I mean, let's remember. This is never a cheap looking stock relative to its growth rates in. So right now it's trading at around thirty three, thirty, four times. Full Year estimates you're talking about a company. That's yeah. They're putting up five, six, seven percent topline revenue growth that that doesn't quite a lineup and. I understand why the market pays up forward. It's very high quality business, but it's also stop that is trading at the. Know really attractive valuations. I can understand the tepid reaction but. They're also going to be making some investments here in the coming quarters suspending a little bit more. On, marketing and advertising and incorporating some new enterprise technology into the business that will create margins a little bit in the near term nothing to worry about it. It's all in the name of making the business even better than it is today and I think that you write. This was a really good quarter in a lot of ways. There was a passage on the call that I really summed it up and they said the significant shift to consumers eating more at home is persisting long enough that it has become a habit. So management, there is seeing that. The pandemic economy is obviously changed. Everyone's behavior restaurants have been hit very hard. People are having to cook more at home in. What we're starting to see is that people are doing this more and more in it's becoming something that's a bit more sustainable, and that is obviously very good news for them based on what they sell When you look at the actual growth, I mean they put up nine percent revenue growth this quarter, which is really impressive given their traditional three, four percent in this all organic to in consumer sales in the Americas rose seventeen percent compared to the third quarter a year ago. So a lot of really good numbers. Just, a very reliable steady business. I wouldn't let the market's reaction today. Bother me. Do you have a sense of where they spend their promotional dollars? I'm trying to. Think of any time I've ever encountered a television commercial. Pop up I'm assuming they're spending their. Marketing dollars somewhere I'm just not sure where it is. Yeah. I mean I will say as someone who has a Hulu live streaming platform here at home among other things and so we we can watch them live TV from time to time and I do see a good number of ads on TV from them..

"I really line full of what I E so like. I was just thinking today. What like I look at like. I am crave and I get kicked like like I get on these things like snap peas right now as like my jam in the fridge. I have a bag of snap peas and unlike snacking on and then I'll go okay. Let's this nappies or I foot onion and everything for two weeks straight. Cut that onion bag or it's really not about what to cut out of your diet as much as it is about what to add in because diet is about loss right so if we That's always said to us because it's it's loss so instead of thinking about what I should meet. I always think about what I haven't been. Eating goes back to raising cattle. The way we do which is grass-fed Grasp. Finished mob grazing and grazing. You always win. There is a situation with any livestock. You always have to look at what if they've been eating. What is their nutritional profile right? So each pasture on the farm. We move our cattle right now. Which is the beginning of the high season three times a day and we moved into each pasture where you might look at it and think. Oh it's the same grasp but it's not the same glass. It has a different amount of water. A different amount of sunshine. It has a different Periods of the day where it gets more sunshine than another pasture and it's different straight to different type of grass that were growing in each pasture. And this is how you create a wellness imbalance in organic livestock. Will I win when I got sick? This all went to my own mind. I was like well wait a minute. I need to be grazing better. I need to graze from a big variety of foods. And that's how you stay well right. So that's what's so interesting about even the mentality of a diet. I was just thinking when you were talking like everyone and you know with gut health. Big Conversation is usually. Oh we'll just get on a probiotic but like how would one probiotic actually work for multiple types of people because we're also different internally it first of all doesn't anymore and they know that and and now I mean I'm not against probiotics at all like I say. Take it do you but for me. I did not. I did not ever take probiotics. He'll ration- with Fermented foods and eating a variety of foods to feed it. So you've got prebiotics foods and the probiotic in the gut bacteria that's a good homie is the probiotic and then it lives off of this variety of prebiotics food. So the other thing if people do is they'll go ahead and they'll take a probiotic but they're not they're not seeding even those bacterias so you have to live a really big point of you. You GotTa have a big lights out. Look at what you're eating. Yeah let's talk a little bit too about gut issues and emotional health because you talk a lot about this in your book and I thought that was so fascinating. How the two are actually linked. Can you kind of explain that? So gut health first of all Serotonin is created in the gut. Your Vegas nerve. Which is the main nerve that connects the gut in the brain That your travels through that nerves The whole the whole way that we're looking at depression even schizophrenia. Right now in the scientists are studying this big time new disorders All of the things that we innings. -iety I need a huge in. I can tell before a new this level of science and had really dove into that I could tell you that when I my inflammation in my intestines comes back which it is a dance you said earlier how do I live. I take care of myself like when I've been working. I just finished a two week work grind in these three days. Today's Wednesday right. I'm just Kinda struggling because I get this extreme fatigue in my body because I have Hashi motives were mature rightous Technically Crohn's disease CEAC answer Isis. So I live this dance of like did I sleep. Did I drink too much wine? Did I like what? How did I throw myself off in? You might just plain exhausted so I can tell when my gut goes down and I don't feel well I feel stomach ache or I feel sort of bloated mind goes down. And if I get Gluten D- I'm like an emotional wreck two days after I feel that too. Yes and just. It's just the way that it works if I don't see a well my mind isn't well so the whole gut brain science In connection this is just the beginning. I mean we are really going into on charter territories. That again are liberating because there are all kinds of really fantastic studies that are now studying depression and people with manic depression and bipolar. And they're studying their gut microbiome and their bacteria's and they're finding that a lot of people the majority and these studies have imbalances in their microbiome and they have high levels of particular bacteria in common and when they bring that bacteria back into balance their emotional wellness comes into balance. There was a wonderful study done. That showed the families that have inherited depression inherited depression. And they're finding that maybe what's inherited is the microbial again. Why I get so excited. Any it's liberating because you're right now. We're living in a time where it's what can we do for ourselves is finally on the table? Like how do I become a better person emotionally and physically and what is my part in in in Saudi? Why do it how and now? There's all kinds of science to up the house. Yeah I'm just glad. The conversation is moving so rapidly. Because it's it's frustrating me for years that we don't or haven't felt like our society connects. How sick we are with what we're putting in our bodies and what we're putting in our food and all of these things that we do on a daily which don't even think about you know it's just like this thing that we do and we're not conscious of how that actually affects the way that our system works. I mean we've only been eating from a from a like a gluttonous sort of pleasure place for very short period of time in yesterday the majority of people on this planet didn't have access to food the way that we do in the last fifty years so food is changing But it's empowering to me you know I like I have two girls. My daughters have watched me find my way back to wellness and remain in wellness. In a once you get well you gotta stay there rights and so they watched the dance and I just know that you know God forbid if anything happens to me like happened. July mother I've they've they've witnessed a great mirror how to take care of themselves. What would be I mean because you break down all of this in the book. The book is called my Pinewood Kitchen. If you guys are interested in finding out more details about the bacteria's we're talking about and the different ways different foods that can heal and balanced your system but if there is there one thing that you could say that people could do or they can make a change our or our bodies just too diverse to put it in one. Nearly I mean we you can easily make a change. You can start to get to know your body. I think I won patriots. You what are you eating without judgment it is? We're so judged. Were so judgy of ourselves in our food. We're so critical of what we're eating and what we're feeding ourselves. What we're feeding our kids. What did we have yesterday so one? What did you eat? What is your excess then identified? Then start paying attention to how you feel after you eat certain things your body is there to talk to you. It's a living being. You know we're just inside of this living beach so and then the next thing is you know Pay attention to the main things. Spit that you're eating and how you feel so a lot of people in a Lotta Chacin a letter restaurant tours go. Oh these people are on this gluten kick and they're getting off of it and it's a fad ch and my thing is no people just want to feel better so if they're starting with gluten great. I. I'm Really Act. But if you WANNA come into my restaurant and you WANNA order gluten-free power to you because I'm trying to support you to figure out why don't feel that will do. I think gluten free is for everybody absolutely not do I think. Dairy free is for everybody. No I think you get to figure it out and if you can digest you know that you can but the best thing you can do is you can add more plants to your diet and if you have weak digestion. Cook them. I don't necessarily that eating raw vegetables. All Day is good for anyone. I think that warm cooked foods are great. I think that smoothies are a great place to start. If you WANNA bring your kids on board. But I don't even think about kids I think about you. I think about just do you and starts to form a relationship with what you're eating and mindful with it and the more plants you can fold into your gut literally the better. The Gut is going to be. And then you know your sugar. I mean sugar wears us out. It's just again. It goes back to the first place to start is mindful. And then once you get that. Mindfulness I almost feel like all these opportunities for you to discover a past year on wellness are going to open up for you. Yeah I love that I'm gonNA linked description I'm sorry I'm GonNa Linked the book my pinewood kitchen in the description of this podcast. I can't wait to start cooking the recipes. We had tomato soup fringy episode house the other night like everyone was fighting over the last bowl. It's so good and I saw that. It's a recipe in the books. I'm so excited. Good tomato soup. I don't even remember what we we had wings. We had fried chicken and we had What do we have some Coleslaw baked beans? I mean it was so good potato salad full southern L. It was amazing That makes me so happy. Hey what are you gonNa so you delivered on a Friday? So what with this corona virus stuff happening? What does that look like for your Pinewood Business? We are so blessed. I thought when a corona virus hit that I was going to have to close because I rely on people coming an hour each way right and I thought okay we have to close and we closed for a weekend and then I thought okay we can stay open so I'm partners with one of my other partners. In tying would Ryan Chapman were also partners in another business called? Integrative Life Center on music row and that's an eating disorder depression and chemical dependency program. That's a whole person program and so I do the food service for I'll see and that really saved us and then the next thing that happened is re run. I run a cannon kitchen and my goal was just to not let the twenty people that work for us on the farm and in the restaurant be at work. I just was like. How do I keep these will employed and so between running a fulltime canning business and then The Integrative Life Center and then we opened up for pickup takeout deliver in national Friday Saturday Sunday. Franklin Brentwood fairview all over the city. And now it's changing again. We're doing these farm boxes and boxes of produce and beef and pork and eggs and cake and chicken and biscuits and jam and so what's happening is pinewood is really finding its way into national and the Greater Nashville area. And I haven't had to lay one person off. In fact kitchen is now running seven days a week and I'm desperately in need to find more cooks in one house. That's amazing especially I mean it's everything and I think it's I just. I love the energy that you put out the energy. You get back percents. Yeah I agree. "Like food is edgy. Oh yeah this kind of some shitty soup for sure. You know like my energy or if I'm rushing. I'm not focused. It's not gonna be as good when if I'm joyful and I'm relaxed than it is going to be so good you cannot stand it. And that's what is in there and I feel like I set that energy and that little kitchen. I walked in the door and no matter. What's on with me? The second I walk in the door the first place I go is behind the line and check in with my team. Then I move out to the floor so yeah I mean that's the delicious food is love. I love to that. You said one of the fears you had about actually being the chef was that you had experienced other chefs are cooked. Anyone that worked in a kitchen at a restaurant as kind of aggressive and hard. And you're like that's not me like I could never lead that way. So it's yeah it's like you're eating usually when you go out to eat in a restaurant. You're eating in a highly Anxious food right. There is a ticket there first of all from the moment. That food is ordered. It's ordered at. How much is this GONNA cost? Can we get it cheaper? Where do we get it from? And then the next place that it goes to it goes into the kitchen. There's a race to get. It preps that I understand well and in there is a race to get the ticket time out to the table and then they're so that creates this anxious consciousness that's going on in the kitchen so you have chefs that are hierarchy. There's a hierarchy. There's aggressive behavior people are running under pressure. And there's a lack of joy when you're doing that. So how do you do that and remove that level of pressure? I mean we still have the pressure in Pinewood because we get rocket in there. Yeah but I always make sure that my team knows slow it down. Take Your Time. Finish it right. Relax get off the line. Don't you know no one is talking to each other In a negative way? I mean that's A. That's a huge piece for me. I don't have any bullies in my kitchen and I won't and I've had fantastic chefs. Come through the door to work with me. Probably way better than me But they were astles now. I was like a homey. You can't be here. It's really if it's I. We have a saying now in the kitchen. If you can't grow you gotta go. I love that you can't grow. You gotta go. Why do you think your inspiring movement so much so you guys have now opened up pinewood mercantile? Which you sell a lot of the jams. The pickles sell in their way. Sell the soups. I make all these microbiome soups. Because my whole thing is based in the bio and how the vile changes everything so which bacteria's fee and create which short chain fatty acids that then fighting inflammation. So if you're eating for those bacterias you're building that colony of gut homes. I call him then. Your body is invalid so I make these microbiome soups and everything. I do in the restaurant you know. I really try to do super southern but then I just messed with the ingredients or I combine. I create a platter like my the Southerner which is yes. It's fried chicken. It's gluten free in rice bran oil but I make sure there's Collard Greens with apple CIDER. Vinegar and then. The collards feet a certain gut homey and then the slaw is made with carrots in what the carrot does in Gut. So I'm looking at other recipes and I'm playing with them so they support everyone's got wellness and in Mercantile. Now says everything we do in elderberry barbecue sauce. We do in movie catch up so the move. Oh she catch up is a Japanese vinegar that does not she yeast and Candida and it also fights acid indigestion and it works as a digestive enzyme. This I'm like so every year so good right so people are like. That's the best ketchup different again girl. Aganst well did you ever have any resistance because pinewood is a tiny town. I mean I think that part of the movement to now is that you have this whole investment group. You guys call yourself pinewood eats and you're wanting to continue to inspire others to connect to real food but like did people in. Pinewood really get with that with all about at first. Oh no it was really brutal. What I did write about in the book was that was. The pushback was the resistance and was. I'm hey you know I had taken this restaurant. This store that had it's just a general store and then that had been there since the nineteen twenties and it had been It's always been a fixture in the community and I changed it and I changed the food and Yes I built up the community because now I employ everybody out there and the more burgers we sell the more cowboys and more potatoes. We sell the more people on the farm the more canned goods. I sell the more people working cannon kitchen that Iran so I was raising them up but in the middle before it could raise them up at all that people could see was the change. I was bringing. It was frightening and so there was a lot of resistance and there was a lot of hate in. I learned a great lesson. You know if you want someone to have grace you have to be the grace and so I had to really again. Always take things back to myself and How can I how can I make the situation better by being better instead of being mad at them? How can I be better? I asked my kids that now when things go down without my go girls your partner because we have a partner race we have apart and everything and you know we feed everybody in. Pinewood whether they have money to pay or not. There's a huge sign and we feed everyone because being hungry kid. I can't imagine growing all the food that we grow there and serving the type of food that we reserve which doesn't even exist in Nashville because it's really bright there from the farm take And it's food allergy friendly. I can't imagine having access to so much food and not being generous with it so we feed everybody with and I think now people are of us. They're very proud. And that we brought in these swanky partners. Yes why is Bentley is a client of mine and I know. He is spoken so wonderfully about pommard for years now but like I think that it's funny. Because Dirks like dirks and I will go on these not fad diets but we were always kind of looking into what to do for our bodies and all that stuff so we accept like organic food can be amazing. You know but that was kind of the thing that I just did not understand. If Pinewood small town culture would think that way. Because we're you know I feel like a lot of people who have lived a certain way for a certain amount of time. They're just kind of set in their ways and don't want to really look outside of the box on that stuff. Yeah I think what has happened there. One of the big things is I never when we opened. I should have been wondering who would come but instead I was just trying to stay alive physically with keeping up with the pace of it but what has happened is pine with. Because it's such an approachable flays. Because it's so comfortable in there that people now drive for hours to eat there because they know we all know we used to think. It was only on the coast in the big cities that people wanted to eat. Well but what I know now more than anybody else because what I do in Pinewood is people everywhere want to feel. Well they want to eat better and they WANNA make changes but there are very few places for them to go to experience different approaches to cooking and food. That are familiar so I have the Burger in the hand cut fries and I have the fried chicken. But then I'll have one of the microbiome soups or I'll have You know something from the farm that they may be won't try anywhere else but it's a comfortable enough setting that they're like oh I wanNA plenty chase that. Let me get a bite of that. They're more open. Well I want to talk a little bit. We were talking before about just how I think the science behind all of this is so fascinating And I know a lot of people because it thought this way to me when I first started. Learning about food can heal your body. It just feels overwhelming because there's so much to learn. There's so much that I feel like we've been misled to believe as far as You know diets or what's actually good for our bodies. So can you give some of the basics? Let's talk about maybe the basics of gut health. And why that's so important. I think the first thing that happened to us is we were. We started to use the word healthy food and we view healthy food punishment for when we've gone off the rails so we'll look at food like Kale Salad and you know. Actually I think Kale can be delicious but I think it needs to be cooked needs to be finally finally chopped and then massaged to make a great salad. So there's a whole process to that so we really view things like healthy food or good for us food as punishment that we've done something wrong. So we've I. The first layer for me about food and healing. Our body with food is our own judgments and paying attention to. What are we eating and mindfulness so I always say to people? I want you to pay attention to what you're eating. Just spend the week and did you eat a lot of dry crunchy cheese. Do you have a lot of milk? Do you have a lot of media? You have a lot of Kale because you can create an excess in imbalance in the gut with too much certain vegetables. One hundred percent so basically gut health is made up. We have all of these bacteria's good bad in some are good some people and bad in other people and what love is in the beginning of my journey when I said Matt macrobiotics was too rigid or too narrow for me is I am not a fundamentalist is all individuals and we all have to find our own yellow brick road to health via food. And the microbiome right. Now is proof in that and it has me super-duper excited because we some people can be Vegan and they do really well and they can be Kito and they do well or they could be Paleo but somebody else doesn't and now we understand why because in the gut all this different bacteria in the purpose of the bacteria is to break down the food so that the food can then go work in the body. The nutritional value in the food in work in the body most of us have an imbalance disfie- oasis of bacteria in the gut in the intestines at some place in the intestines. Some in the small intestine summit the toppled the small intestine some in the colon. The bottom of the colon. It just depends so eating for the bacteria that Gut homeys. Because they're like the rider dies. We don't want them to die. We want them to multiply.

"I did not write a four-stroke Tau when I went back. East and did the four-stroke nationals. Okay all right. I'm trying to remember if if I don't remember Jason McCormack writing a four-stroke ever. I must have missed that point three. Did you write a four-stroke? Yes okay all right. I forgot that time ever on a four-stroke dude was two thousand two during the Easter four-stroke nationals. I called up chuck who I wrote for and playing a Honda. And he gave me two to four fifties and I did forsook nationals in came shy of the championship by like I think. Eight or eight or ten points. Okay all right. Paul Paul Carpenter won the Carbondale. Well Kelly that was right after Kelly Smith and Steve. Math is dominated that series for a couple of years. Mccormick I'll have you know but I know with Kelly because he kicked ass. Yeah he was good at that stuff. Those little rights. He was good at them. Yeah yeah now did he did. He was he on. Ktar for those two years. I was for him after Red Dog and Ninety Nine. I went to Ktar a couple of years so good times. What what year. While when do you stop race? And when did you start? Your rights in result is two thousand and three. But do you keep racing locally after that now. I can brace aloke Western four-stroke national okay. In all three and four we did not go back east and do the Easter stuff again. Ok Yeah so just kind of stuck around a little bit here and there or whatever yeah the west coast supercross and just elected maybe outdoors at that point and that was to be honest. I I was kind of on the downhill portion mentally and physically like knowing it was going to be done pretty soon. So you know we just did the way you all the Western nationals. Had A good time I did my own program with C. H. Carmichael Honda. Down IN SACRAMENTO. Okay Yeah Yeah Wow indefinitely see personally and all that. You're probably still making pretty good money able to do that. Yeah Yeah Yeah. I mean it's Oscar system. Either you know on the podium or win in which you know you're winning. You're winning a couple of grand weekend. Yeah for sure Oh. And then plus plus I had sponsors pay you know pay me quarterly for support. What's kept the rig going and then I supported in all three had Oh Gosh Dang Mike Quarter. Oh my yeah my quarter row. We were buddies anyway so he rode with me and for me and my daughter had baggy gear at one time. My quarter raise baggy gear. I believe he did yes. He knows a great time dude. I had a place I had a place out in Calama with a bitch and track on him and I would ride all the time then we would travel. We did all our bike work there and we travel go kick ass. He was kicking ass like that was a fun time. That's what brought back some fun right. You know there was no there was no stress of like. I have to do good to write. Good for Bobby Moore gotTa ride good for Honda? There was no pressure right That's cool now's a great time. Yeah did you ever go Rod Port Angeles track? I have yes. Yeah I used to ride their birdwell. Because he's buddies up there so we would go port Angeles Mountain View. We were at mountain view a lot. He from a story right so we watched UGO locally a couple times. Good Times up there. It's such a strong motocross community. Pacific Northwest Man. They love it they love like when I go to Seattle now for the for the supercross like a lot of people. Listen to Papa Mexico and stuff and do this so many hardcore Modo Fan Pacific Northwest Cooler is. Yeah let's you know what's so good about it now. We're getting a lot of guys that have come out of here and been very successful and it's continuing to do that out of our area which is awesome. You look at the hill brother as you look at Rv. Of course you know. Yeah so many guys absolutely there is you know we got Carson Brown coming up and you kill him as he is. He's doing great did you. Did you have any run? Ins With a young Ryan Velo like did you member seen them and being like yeah. This kid's the do you remember that or Josh Hill Earnings O. Rien when I did my first year doing my Suzuki deal. You know one. I happened to be down at Elsinore in training day and he was out is team green ride with and he was on a super mini. And I happen to town of Park not too far away from that Ryan Road over and we were talking and he asked when I was going to go out and do a moto. Say I'll probably you know like we all maybe ten fifteen minutes you want your motor on and he said yeah one right. We staggered each other down. I was on my four fifty or no no. No no I was on my tooth fifty two trucks so we did EMOJI and that little son of a bitch the pace with me the whole time. Jesus Christ I started actually panicking because I couldn't all the way from him. Oh my God many you like. Maybe it's time to retire. Well you know when you've been around it now that for a while you know in your mind dude. He's GonNa make it do something you know. He's got it and it was just so cool even when he was sixty back. Then when I do a lot of Clark County fairgrounds at the time I assume lessons classes and I did one class with him. Longtime ago when he was on sixties and that was a long time. I think this you know before. He got super fast. We just did one session. It was really cool. It's awesome yeah you know and that was it. That was just that one time a long time ago and you never. I never even thought of like Ryan ever doing what he has done. Yeah Crazy Right. I know it is. It's just crazy how you know. Yeah you know him and his mom they then went. Down the motorhome. They did their thing and he got in with the right people. And you know you kicked ass. He did what he needed did what they needed to do to do it right. Yeah it's really cool to see such an area such so many strong great writers come from that from an area in the United States where it's hard to ride all year long. It's not a you know a Lotta rain and stuff. So yeah and then when I ran into Ryan so I ran into last year. Whatever you know. It's something that you you going to bring can remember when we did this this this but you don't WanNa be like guys reminisce. Like he probably doesn't even remember you know what I really. I don't think he might not might not. Who knows. He's he's a good buddy of mine so but but God. He's sometimes hilarious that way. It is awesome. Larry Ward said he called them one time and he was like is Jeff Ward and Larry just hung up autumn. How do you do you remember? Larry Yeah Oh yeah. I saw a picture of him. Wasn't he down Anaheim one now? He was in Dallas Dallas Dallas. He looks to say big bird. It looks exactly so yeah. I was picturing him to be more wrinkled. Throughout time. Like we a crapload await. I was like ricky fat before Ricky got speedy lost weight. Good for him. He looks a lot but no I still have. All my fat salary was a bad ass. He moved out early. But yeah another Pacific northwest bad ass lance lance great rider lance was a better writer than people probably give him credit for. You know so. He's still my idle duty. I mean that guy I still look up to him no matter what even back when we. I wasn't even still riding intermediates and stuff and we hung out with him back in the pack West Days Just to have that chance when I turn prone and finally it's like Oh my God peatland smell. Yeah for sure right now dude. There's a lot of stories about lance being ultrafast like in practice or practice during the week or whatever like he never quite got a full factory shot right but but he was fast certainly good. Yeah Oh good times well. Hey Jason thanks for doing this to fly racing racer x podcast presented by maxis and rental. You know since I moved back and it's just nice to have again. You know what I mean. Some of those friendships back that. We did not half for quite a while. Nothing was bad by reconnecting. There's too many to count As long as they know that I appreciate him and the dads that everyone I support and sponsor and even current customers. I appreciate everybody. That's awesome now for sure. It's cool you're giving back to. I mean like you said so. Many people helped you out over the years and and I know from being around then like yeah people would would give you money to help you get the racism and all of that and now you're giving back it's it's cool. You helping people out with suspension and your knowledge and yeah. It's really neat. Motocross is done. You will for sure over the years. It has yeah. I'm still in it. You know even though I tried to get out of it but you have before you go. Do you have a favorite? I mean look. Obviously you won the Moto in in ninety nine but you have a favorite washable. Is it that one? Is that one year won. You won the Moto or was there another one you know. It's really honestly gotta be that that day because my grandma was there. My GRANDPA was there no longer. Don't have my granny he'd just recently passed. All my aunt was there. It's the hug. It's the picture of the hugs. It's it's the whole weekend. I gotta be honesty. I forgot about that. Tell You I'm sure you did. It was just one rake in where some random Canadian held a pit board for. You know but now it's funny. Because if you talk to Ryan Ryan remembers every all my remember the smallest little detail about something. I'm like do serious having Alzheimer's Shit. That's funny yeah. Some guys are like that. I know whenever Keith Johnson from New Mexico New England I mean those guys they wanna remember anything they just say you gotta ask Treadwell because my treadmill remembers everything that they did. So it's one of those guys. Yeah so I mean. I don't remember anything well. Hey thanks thanks for the time. Jason appreciate it. Good luck going. Forward mentioned business and again good stories. "Podcast Jason McCormick coming up Pacific Northwest Fans. Of course know him. I want 'em water or Chicago podium. Rostougol a ton. We were actually teammates at FM Honda in Nineteen Ninety Eight. He had a bad ass wisey to fifty in nineteen ninety seven I remember and I actually wrenched for him in one thousand nine hundred ninety six my first professional racing wrench job. We'll see if he remembers that I don't know if he would and we'll talk into what he's doing now and talk a little bit civic northwest bench racing and he is a fantastic career on on the motorcycle for sure hell of a writer so thanks for listening appreciate it. Let's dive in adjacent. Mccormick are here. We go as I stated in my intro. A buddy of mine that I haven't talked to a number of years. I was actually on his team back in the day. Flyer racing racer x podcasts presented by rental maxis with the Great Jason McCormick. What'S UP JASON? How are you? I'm doing great buddy just working away still working actually taking the time and wanted to talk to you. Thanks for doing this appreciate it. Yeah Nice to catch up with you and see how you're doing and I gotta thank somebody on Instagram or twitter. That just said hey man. What's Jason McCormick up to and I'm like I don't know but let's find out I'm stoked at that guy. That listener of mine wanted to find out more. But what you're going what what's going on with you so cool you know. I got a message to. I think it was Bob Bradstreet. I know there's a couple a couple of guys you but I know Baba he attacks me said so you know these are trying to get all the whole really well Steve Number. Well it's you know I don't have anymore because it's an old number so anyway. Yeah that's that's I guess I'll transpired. Know whatever number you have for McCormack is the same number. I've had since nineteen ninety-seven. I've never changed it so yeah just just same number so if you just didn't have it that's fine but I'm just saying now. Maybe I tried call no longer. I don't know maybe you have my pager number seriously. That's how old it could be good golf on a ninety eight team got. Okay Yeah so funny. So hey man. You're doing suspension service now up there in the Pacific northwest. That's cool. Yeah actually on site at the Washington motorcross track. It's been awesome Doing you know complete complete suspension jobs valley my own. My own thing tested a lot with Tommy Week You know a little bit with Ryan and a few of my other writers. Do that come up and do a little bit little bit here. And it's been awesome dude just kinda like trying to bring back. What what we did on teams to just more of an amnesty for local level. Which is nice. You know I'm not always at the track hard to hit everyone but I try to do the best Ikin. How'd you get into that? How did you get interested in that? Who taught you back in the day after you hung the boots up or were you doing that kind of stuff when you were racing. Still no no man you know when we had our our deal with rob. Rg Three you remember him. He's doing all our stuff at FM F.A.S.T. But he was working alongside with Honda. At the time. I think around that time I believe so. It really started just testing. I love test. I love to test motors screen. I love to test the suspension. Like I was I loved it so like I know the guys relied on me a little bit more on the testing citing enjoyed it and then I think after we You know after all the years I think it was just an interest in is called rob up one day after my wife carrying I got married. I moved down to California and two weeks later here. I was energy three so really I learned from raw but I understood the mechanics and the mechanics of it. Internally of the test I caught the concept of it. I just didn't know how to work on it at the time or do the tear downs right without applied yet is there. There aren't many people that are smarter than Rob Hendrickson in the motorcycle industry. That's a good guy to learn from. Now there's not and it was nice tests a little bit z back in the day because the Monster Cup like what we did What was it the Monster Cup? Now it was at the MGM US Open. Yeah yeah the US Open so that first or second year. That I did our ziggy. Did me a set of suspension for that so I worked with Ziggy for short time. Just for that okay. Oh cool. Awesome at factory connects you. That's good yeah so you were you down the so cal for awhile. When did you move back up there to start? Jam Are really in two thousand ten. I just had an opportunity. It wasn't something I was thirteen. Four it just kind of happened. Got A call from a guy worked at Service Department and Beaver to motorcycles. His name was Paul Favor and then a couple of other buddies were working there and they kind of shocked me out an idea of what they wanted to do locally and so I kind of talking with wife and I didn't know if there was a smart thing to do or something that we needed a change or you know it was about the time you'll economy was down in you know it was something that was starting to come back a little bit back then. I don't know it was just. I think we needed a change. In an exchange I can never settle like with much. It seems like like I always got to be doing something different or something new or whatever. The case is slow and here we are. I mean we. I spent two years away from my family. They say in California to try to get it up and going. That was rough. I'd go home. Maybe once a month and yeah it was. It was rough there for. I mean it's still was referee but when I moved them back up here so but this was the second time I moved her. In in the kids up the first time was with. Rg Three when we outsource. Rg three out of motorsport. Hillsborough with Scott Russell. Okay okay so that lasts that one about a year and then after that we moved back. Yeah we moved back then moved down to Menefee and rented David Elements House actually working with David Owen. At the time when he had his factory Suzuki Right. I do not think of you as a so-called guy. Jason maybe you are but I don't think that's that's you you know it's okay. It was easier for me to move and but the problem I have is. I like having all four seasons in California. There isn't a there's only there's only two and that's hot real hot and like hold dusty in. Yeah yeah well it's good. I'm glad things are going businesses doing okay despite the the slowdown right. Now you told me Yeah yeah this really slow. I mean it's I figured we would take a hit and you know I'm willing to like you know. Do whatever it took to help anybody could but you know it's actually his gotten better like you know and I just know everybody you know is working or if they got the time off as good time to get things done. The motorcross season comes back and go and again. So that's it's it's awesome so I'll just stay at my little tiny house for a few days during the week. Go home for a night. Come back for a few more days and then keep going till right. That's awesome. That's good to hear. Are you still riding much? Do you get out you test. It do you test no fat. I wait I'm now I'm to have and I don't feel the need like I don't WanNa go out on the track and for my just to go have fun even and feel everything jiggle in in Gigolo around I just ate it yes when I quit racing I literally quick wit Riad idea and WanNa be around the sport anymore and that lasted eight months and then my wife and I got married with calvary in and I got. I got one twenty five. That was that display motor sport. It was it was the. Fms Honda Replica. Mike Okay for ninety eight but it was a buddy of mine josh streets regional bike okay. So but you know. We put a lot of good parts on that bike. Yeah there are a lot of good parts that got on Josh's bike when that when on a semi when you all you guys were up here and you got. I think he went to Dave Rigs. How sue at that time? Didn't to build bikes. No dot point. I was working for Danny Smith. He got injured and I was off the road. I'd go to Loretta. 's for the quad nationals and Loretto for the amateur nationals. I was doing was back in California. Yeah runs Danny. Smith got hurt early in the year. I was done for the for the season. Okay that's right I grab remember I remember. Everybody came up yup to to Dave's house and they're building bikes out known in front of his house in the coldest sack quite funny seeing the rates going down the road seeing the semi setting out of Dave's house near it all these races. Yeah Really Right I. It's funny I'm Gonna. Things are going well for you that way for sure. And it's funny because Ryan Hoffman. Of course running shoe will now and and you're based out of there and it's just funny. How Youtube is bang bars ever? And now you're both making a living in the industry and everything else. I think that's pretty funny that you guys can't get away from each other no matter what you do. Yeah I know right I mean we spend that probably what ten to twelve years? Yeah being out you know what being in California or you know. He's doing what he's doing but then we all came right back together him managing the track. I started my little business doing suspension and the testing. And all that here. We are all back together again. And you know I'm doing Ryan stuff for him and I'm doing Brendan's his sons. And you know obviously Tommy Week. Tommy Tommy's bid Tom he's been a real big one big test or for me like you know. I'd like to try new things to try. That and and Tommy's great. He's very picky and and Very and it was nice to have him or even educate him even more to be more picky. Because the pick your then that means that something else I can that is good or bad or changing underway to change and that type of thing so that that aspect of things for me here local Gives me a real big variety of an outs- outside on everything for just the average rider? Can you still bounce stuff off? Rob You keep in touch with them. You can bounce some ideas off of you. Come up with something. I haven't talked to rob since. Gosh Dang it was Seattle two thousand fourteen. I think it was. I ran into him. I you know he was doing a lot. I think he was He might still been doing Suzuki Steph. Curry might have been worth. Ktm doing stuff. I haven't seen him for a while. Honestly I'm not sure I need to reach out to see I was doing and I haven't I haven't you know I just I'm busy with life. You know how you got your kids y trying to run small business and then now I haven't now okay so let's go on a time machine a little bit..

May to like right now because we can all really us. Hbo Maxim France Hall. The marketing team. This seems to be the moment. In the meantime we're going to sprinkle a little bit of context on what's going on with. Hbo Max that you should definitely know. Hbo USED TO BE A part of time. Warner and Time Warner got acquired by. At and T. Couple years ago in two thousand eighteen so facto transit of property that thing that means. Hbo is owned by a t and t the telecom company right and HBO's leader its longtime leader was a guy named Richard Pleasure. Who's responsible for? Game of thrones not bad. Why impressive little lies and a whole bunch of other top shelf binging content? The only problem was after. Hbo GOT ACQUIRED BY AT and T. The NEW AT and T. Corporate Parent wanted to change the beautiful. Hbo. He basically said we want more quantity less quality. Be More like that. Flex they're like. Can we stretch out? This game of thrones dating spin off with wives of West arose going on my third day dragons. Who Am I giving my dragons to so Richard Platt per was basically like I'm out of here that's the plumper left in the meantime just yesterday. Hbo Max Finally announced a new leader for Warner media which is at and T.'s. Division doing a lot of stuff like streaming video which is HBO. You got movies. Which is Warner Brothers and cable? Tv CNN TBS. Enter Hulu founder. Jason Co are taken the position. Pretty sure it's pronounced killer. Jason Killer nickname their run with Jason Jack. What's the takeaway for our buddies? Who are definitely not TV over at HBO Max. At and T. Is An old school company. That really need some new school town. Eighteen knackers it. Ceo and COO are exactly what you'd imagine the to look pretty much NBA holding conservative suit. Where Time Company and streaming is the future of media but they don't have the streaming town right now to jump on that Future Lar- Aka. The killer was at Amazon for nine years before founding. Hulu in two thousand seven. Which was a godsend to nick and me when we were freshmen year roommates at Middleburg streaming a real large amount of family guy in that thing in the meantime who's become owned by Disney and NBC and Fox jointly right now who just owned by Disney. But it shows that killer knows how to handle like different power people in the media industry as important our buddy Jay. The killer had this court in two thousand eleven. That basically summed up the whole thing. It was a criminal. History has shown that incumbents tend to fight trends that challenge their established ways and in the process they lose focus on what matters most customers. At and T. Needs a little bit of this guy snacks. We get a little update here. We're a little over halfway done today. Snacks Daily Pot. So if you're doing snacks challenge and seeing how far you can run in the first one episode exhausted all right time to turn around and run back and you gotta go back. Take a water break. Do yourself a favor. We're going to hit our third story. Mccormick spices is having a seesaw Korean. Economy Moment Little Bit. Good Yup a little bit of bad. It's a see saw moment. Snacker every kitchen should probably have a drawer stuff with McCormick. You know your mom would want it that. I can't believe this is a publicly traded stock on Wall Street. You've got aggressive kitchen real estate. We're talking Oregano turmeric curry paste coriander seeds. We've got curry powder. I have no idea why because we have the seeds. Knicks always picking the fancy stuff. I like this Real Essex Salt and Pepper Combo back for like ninety nine every grocery store. Knacker is a little spoiler alert. Here Jack. Scott. The taste buds of like a three year old. Turtle Connoisseurs Bison now. This company is proudly based in Baltimore Maryland since eighteen eighty nine where. They've been making spices mixed with Lacrosse. Sticks from like the Solvent School State Law requires a fifteen minute. Break every four hours of work so you can sprinkle some old ban. That's a critical thing now. The biggest flaw on the resume for McCormick is the one thousand nine hundred sixteen. Us Borough of chemistry investigation were investigated for black pepper purity problem. They called us at McCormick pepper and they don't like talking about him. We've actually shouldn't even abroad. Most famous product of McCormack in my opinion is old bay which is like in the state constitution of now about a quarter of its business is not spices but like condiments right they got Franks red hot sauces made by McCormick and French's classic yellow mustard. The rest of its business is like some fancy kind of custom stuff going on that you wouldn't expect them to be gotta section of their website bragging that they've teamed up with IBM on artificial intelligence. It all seems like they're overselling because basically they're just like helping you can cock special sauces like McDonald's special sauce if you're the cheesecake factory you need Salinas. Sprinkle on your stuff. You're going to the guys at McCormick. The earnings report for McCormick and its annual report. They show a helpful breakdown of the business. This is funny thing. We noticed about the annual report though. Is They actually show? What's in the gift bag for all the shareholder in ten dis and last year they were giving away truffle. Salt just want to point that out as an adorable detail to include an annual bar. The other thing we noticed when we jumped into the earnings report is that they love saying flavoring. The future pretty much as often as they can say this we noticed that McCormick is always playing a supporting role in whatever it is. They got a big picture of Sushi. But then the little sesame seeds there by McCormick. They got a delicious looking chicken leg with the barbecue sauce that McCormick spice third cameraman at the end of the movies. Like please wait till you see all the credits. He could see my name. Deborah you see the second thing. We noticed that was helpful. Is that the businesses pretty evenly balanced. If you look at the earnings about half of its business is homegoods sales like to you and your pantry and then half of its business is away from home like restaurants and caterers. Now it's expecting some interesting differences between the two for example. It's expecting double digit sales growth for home consumption business because there's all sorts of pantry. Hoarding going on because people are cooking at home during the recession and during the public health crisis but restaurants sales for McCormick are expected to plummet cheesecake. Factory has furloughed like its entire workforce. It's telling landlord is not even GONNA pay rent. Even mom and pop restaurants are shutting down and knock cooking. That means less spices that McCormack selling out to restaurants and other right so good business for the bad business for the away from home overall. This is a net negative for McCormick because it sales are down to percents. So Jack what's the takeaway for buddies flavor and flavor the future over McCormick McCormick's experiencing a classic see-saw situation knackers see-saw situation. You're gonNA start seeing this Yang Yang in around with a bunch of other companies right now. One side of the business is surprisingly surge in the krone economy but the other side of the business plummet four example. We've noticed pay pal seen a surge in people wanting to digitally or with touches payments but that's offset by the fact that fewer people are buying things in general overall transactions. Are going down so snappers when you hear that. One company's business is living. Its best life in the krone economy. Don't just settle for that information. There could be another side of the story where part of its business living. Its worst like sick. See-saw Situation Jack in your whip the salt and pepper and tell us the takeaways over there. Carnival cruise is cannot borrow money or accept bailout funds from the government because it's technically Panamanian impressive move to dodge labor laws and taxes. A really bad move if you eventually needed a bailout. Hp MAX LAUNCHES NEXT MONTH SODAS HBO. Max's new top guy. The founder of Hulu Jason Collage. Hey there killer. At and T.'s. And Old Media Company that needs some new media town energy four third and final story. I can't emphasize this. Salt and pepper is the best products of McCormick. It's been seizing scrambled eggs. Since the nineteenth century half of his businesses gaining half is falling it's a classic see-saw situation now snack time for a snack back today. This one sent in by Catherine Bill. Who is doing incredible work as a position in Detroit? Yes Detroit home of Henry Ford Hospital which fun fact is where my Nanna was born. We've got fun. Facts on snack bags. Inside of this Tax Katherine tells us the first ventilators crucial medical device that is in huge demand to fight cove in Nineteen. The first ventilators came out in nineteen twenty eight and they were known back then as iron lungs but there. I use back then was patients who were struggling to breathe because of polio. "The quota virus how can be trading up this week helping this fits with the hotel business in the cruise business. They're all going up. I've been saying I I did. This is not right that the stock shouldn't be going up and people should be careful. You and I are in the same boat. But you know what Nelson here's the PROB. Everyone's saying the same thing hanging in the buyers. Don't WANNA listen. Maybe they have to lose some money. Maybe that's what will make them Sir uncertainties before we certainly we have when it comes to virus outbreak outbreak. Trying to call it. Play out much more money. From salt and pepper more exotic flavours Uku defined consumer giant mid-quarter. McCormick in your kitchen cabinets but is it stock the secret ingredient for your portfolio. I've got this user. Then the tourists were up by rate gut but within groups next gains uncertain. How could Elliott Management's moving to ever g impact the sector uninvestigated daughter calls rapid fire tonight's edition of the lightning round? So stay Ed Bremer and all week. I've been telling you that I'm a little. Oh skeptical about this rebound and that position gets harder and harder to justify with every passing day while the average keep marching higher. I'M GONNA stick my guns. I think this could be another shoe to drop Either from the corona virus outbreak maybe Bernie Sanders surge in the primaries or maybe from the upcoming slate of retail earnings when that shoe drops who wants to be defensive defensive a position and when it comes to playing defense doesn't get much better than McCormack number one maker spaces sees last week. This company reported a slight rather mistress driven by currency fluctuations. Little little lighter guidance because they're investing were in their business and the stock tumbled nearly four percent on the news. Cincinnati stopped just keeps getting hammered. Because this is the kind of thing people buy when they're feeling as euphoric as the average indicate so. Could this be the buying opportunity. Don't get many in this one. Let's dig deeper with Lords courteous. He's the chairman CEO McCormick. Get a better read on on the quarter. Where's companies headed by to this by Mr Kerr's welcome back the Lord's good to see you? It's always great to see because every one quantities is in my kitchen every single one I tell my wife you ought to watch because she is the biggest user of McCormick. Well Jim. That's great to hear and it's great to be here to talk talk to you because you've got to be feeling good. I came on this show for the first time. Two and a half years ago after we adjust done the deal buying French francs and you told did your viewers that that was going to be a great combination and if they had bought stock that day with reinvested dividends they'd have had a total return of of about eighty percent since then which double the market in. This Friday go was that could I knew what I like. Okay and I try to tell our people who watch if you like French is like I do. I'm from Philadelphia Myself Pencils if you like Franks because you put it on. Everything didn't know how could miss in the make it. But the analysts was is not used the product they were looking at some sort of spreadsheet but you and I both know these while wildly popular but they had been doing nothing with them. And you've changed that big time. Yeah and they feed right into consumer trends. Gem consumers want more flavorful boulder products and there's a real movement towards hotter and spicy flavors especially among a younger consumers and so these brands were terrific. Hits with millennials and Gen Z.. Consumers literally the younger you are the more likely already using friend. Lord there's a there is a you holding going on in this country right now. My favorite spice is he is is all day and I put it on many more things than I should. I love hot sauce. People can't really get this can Jim. This has been an an unbelievable ebel hit. We introduce this through our online store and sold out literally less than thirty minutes. How's that possible? It's it's incredible well and and I tell you. This is an example of what they call the Revenue Synergy. We've got great brands. And now we have this great capability and hot sauce. And so here's a chance chance to bring old Beta lovers but this is not even grilling season. Yes what's going to happen. How can you are you in twenty four seven to get out? Ah Believe me to be out is is not something that I want. I want to fulfill that demand. We wanted out there. How did this happen? Let's think about this. This is millennials. Eleni owes deciding that they want to be able to stay thin and have something that tastes great. I think that's a big part of it. You know that's great flavor. Hot Sauce delivers a a Lotta great flavor. Besides the Heat Franks has a very distinctive taste profile and of course obey especially if you're in the mid Atlantic states I mean there's there's nothing ED stands up shirt orders right exactly now. I own a Mexican bar and what I go through more than anything else. The world is hot sauce. Many different kinds. I wish you made it or I wish you would buy one because it is hard to keep in stock the Minos go crazy but I need a McCormack brain one one that I trust. Oh well well you know Franks is a powerhouse right now. But we're committed to be the number one maker of hot. It's awesome the world so when we acquired Franks that made us number two in the world and it's a number one and number two in the world and our goal is to be number one so I'll take the advice under and what we can do about. I think it'd be pretty good at the time. There's a lot of moving parts that are going on. You're doing something and people get confused about it you're doing. ERP Your Dreams. Enterprise Resource. It's going to cost money to do right. You bring in an outfit. That really makes him. We're organized you haven't done it in a long time. Tell people why you have to do that so they don't think those money wasted. Yeah sure so. So first of all I want to say that our underlying businesses to rip strong growth and we've continued to invest behind our brands. And and and doing you into things to build the McCormick the future and this is part of building McCormack or the future our ERP system the software that we run our business on was was We went onto the platform that we're on right now in two thousand and two and we were a much smaller company then much less international than we are today and the in fact as technology has moved a long way since two thousand and two and so the run our business efficiently and effectively at the larger scale and the larger size with today's technology analogy this investment to make all right good. Because I think that some of the analysts are saying well listen. You really have to spend that much. I want you to be equal to your expansion plans which are important global system. So they are. They are inherently expensive. But Jim it's like a it's like a the cost. It's like the pig python. Okay okay you know it goes in but then it's going to pass through and so right now in in two thousand twenty. We're going to have the ramp up of expense but we'll be back on our growth algorithm after that that will not stop our growth album. This is again. Why the opportunities there now there was something that you mentioned you have you level division in China and I have is under the mistaken impression that something is terrible is what's going on? There would mean good for you because the more people Eh Cook at home and not go out but you did say look. It's not a positive. Yeah it's hard to say that it's positive right now. That's it's hard to know the impact the closest fires in in China. We have a large business in China. A part of it is supplying consumers. Part supplying restaurants sooners are. We're not going out a lot of the countries on on on lockdown. I'd say that right now. Our number one concern for the health and safety of our employees and quality integrity of our products. And it's a little soon to know what the financial impact but it can't be a positive you know when people aren't going out to restaurants and consuming our our customers products and and it's a tough time there. I'm Craig criticized the what we do in China's for China so we manufacture manufacturer in China for the exactly you get daily updates of how they're doing it people people okay do and so at this point in time so we've got over nine hundred employees. Oh He's in Wuhan and a manufacturing facility there and and as of now there are no known cases among any of our employees or their family. So that's that's certainly good news. That's fantastic Aston. Lose one last thing I do want to ask you. I'm seeing this on Ebay more than it selling for the. How is that possible? Can I flip this. Can I sell this for thirty to fifty dollars which going after. Now let your conscience be your God has been going for fifty bucks on Ebay Actually I. I'm I'm not cooking this weekend. Going to be using well anyway. Thank you thank you for this kind comments. It's about knowing that it was.

If you have to choose between investing in quality photography or designing a logo, I will recommend every day that you upgrade in upland will your tire Phy I and then continued upgrading photography at least every two years. Big thing to as a speaker you are, the face of the company knew are your logo. On the Montemar. So I mean, there's places on logo works a logo works in femme.
