Ex-Bloomberg Staffer Says Government Should "Back Off" Businesses
"Peterman Donia of ma Donia family bakery in the Bronx who was chief of staff for former mayor Bloomberg stresses that the government which he used to help run so to allow business owners to develop their own new solutions because they're so good at doing that we know how our neighborhood works and so we pivoted very quickly there and and each of the businesses has in their own way if it summer doing curbside pick up others are managing lines differently and so like I have real confidence that the entrepreneurs in this town we'll make the adjustments that make the pipits they need when they know what the rules are Peter Madonna says businesses on Arthur Avenue began sanitizing door handles ATMs and parking meters daily nobody had to tell them to do
Suffolk Coronavirus: County Beaches Open To Residents Only
"Suffolk executive Steve alone announced that county beaches will be for county residents only Mr baloney joining us on ten ten wins before we get into how would actually you're going to enforce this let's be clear which beaches you're talking about because Long Island as county beaches town beaches state beaches so we're talking about the two ocean beaches in Suffolk County Smith point beach and cop saga beach okay and how exactly will you be enforcing this county residents only so we'll be enforcing that at the gate as people come in we'll be checking they would either have their green card the green key card or they would have their license indicating the residents in Suffolk County so you're going to be checking up people in the car personally not just the car with the badge we're going to be checking the drivers who are coming in to determine whether the car with the people are from Suffolk County because we know that we have limited capacity with the state's order and we know that other municipalities have made the determination not to open their facilities we have to make sure that Suffolk County residents will have access to their beaches okay joining is Steve alone Suffolk County executive I just want to go back to the point that you just made you you said you're checking the the driver of the car are you you will you be will people be speaking to each person in that car no they'll be checking the driver to see that the car is the driver the car has a Suffolk County address no license or green key card which goes to Suffolk County residents okay so this will be by vehicle so if your vehicle okay so if you're on your bike out there and you're not a Suffolk County resident do you have your on your bicycle and you can buy your way and then you would be able to gain access I also we were wondering how you were going to enforce this precisely I know that the Nassau County executive has been somewhat critical of mayor de Blasio's order keeping beaches closed in the city they are expecting so does spill over in Nassau County how do you see this affecting Suffolk County well I mean we do have a concern about that you know you see most of the major beach facilities in the region are opening up even across state lines and you know that's important because you want to provide as much access to people my feeling on this is when you get to Memorial Day weekend people are going to be looking to go to the beach if the weather is right you're going to get crowds there no matter what you do it's far better to have safety protocols in places people are coming and start that right from the beginning of the season that's why it's it I think it's important to to open those beaches let's go back to the two county beaches with these restrictions Smith point park cuts on what are the restrictions once you get there they're not going to be to capacity right that's right so they'll be a limited capacity the governor's order has fifty percent production when you are in your space on the beach there will be staff on the beach that we working to make sure that groups household groups of socially distance you can have your your chairs and a blanket there and while you're in that personal space you can remove your face covering when you're in the water we can have more more lifeguards we can spread people out you'll be able to social distance in the water you will obviously require face covering there but when you're moving about the rest of the facility on the boardwalks or using the restrooms of the concessionaires when those are permitted to open that you'll be required to wear this face coverings will also be taking temps of the staff they'll be wearing face coverings and will have bathroom attendants will be cleaning on a continual basis and in addition to the county beaches do you know what the plan is for the town beaches and we're all waiting to hear that the towns I have been having conversations about re opening they were expected to release a a planned but we have not heard what exactly their plans are and before we let you go were speaking to Steve along county executive Suffolk County executive where to Suffolk stand now when it comes the seven benchmarks governor Cuomo is requiring for the phased reopening can you make any predictions about a time line about some businesses that will be able to re open we're making a lot of progress we're now at five of the seven metrics once we have contact tracers online will have six of the seven we're hiring working with the mayor Bloomberg team at the John Hopkins university we're onboarding people this week because we're getting close elective surgeries are able to start again in Suffolk County so I'm very hopeful that we will be moving towards that phase one opening in the next couple of weeks and one more question about the beaches and I want to go back to the county beaches how long will this is this just for the holiday weekend this enforcement for county residents only or is this going forward for the time being this will be indefinitely but we'll be monitoring and to make a determination as we move forward this could change and it just as the season progresses but for right now this will be the this will be the rule that's in place for the foreseeable future okay thank you very much Steve Bellone Suffolk County executive joining us on ten ten wins with the beach rules going forward as we head into the holiday
Trump to pause immigrant visas for 60 days over coronavirus
"I want people that are in this country I want our citizens to get jobs I don't want them to have competition we have a very on usual situation and it is an unusual situation but we also know that the trump agenda has always been to reduce legal as well as illegal immigration so is covert unemployment and excuse that he's hitchhiking campaign item onto or legitimate because we do have this unemployment spike not barred by the way on any guest workers who the country is allowing in to help with the food supply reportedly farmers and agriculture business organizations exploded in anger that's the way the times put it exploded in anger at the prospect that guest workers would also be banned in fact the New York times headline on this today is trump backs away from a broad ban on immigration but many will still feel the effect of restrictions and you know this is just the latest coronavirus development to hit immigrants harder than many other people notably many immigrants who have been working here and paying taxes here will not be eligible for some of the relief programs another development this week that you may not have heard about is that the Supreme Court may take changing conditions from the corona virus into account in the so called daca case it is now considering involving young immigrants brought here as kids by their parents who grew up American but undocumented with me now this site bridge wani she was New York city's first immigration commissioner under mayor Bloomberg after the people of the city created that position in the two thousand one referendum she is now founder and president of the group called new American leaders which supports immigrant political activity and she is the author of people like us the new wave of candidates knocking at the marker sees door published in twenty eighteen and once upon a time she was a founder of south Asian youth action in Elmhurst queens now an epicenter of coronavirus infections and deaths are ironically thanks for coming on so you're welcome back to W. NYC thanks for having me Bryant creek hearing voices let me get right to the president's argument you heard the clip and on its face a lot of people might say this makes sense if we've gone from three percent unemployment two thirteen percent unemployment overnight because of the public health crisis maybe the next sixty days are not the time to be taking in more people who will want to find work regardless of any other immigration politics what's your reaction welcome and thank you summarized it very well I'd say more forcefully that this is part of the administration's connect textbook case of white supremacy they do three things racialized everything throw red meat to a base that is predominantly white and in teaching capricious and arbitrary announcement and while we could fact check those and problem the ties with sixty days actually means at the end of the day and she said in a New York times headline the intention and the intended impact is already there creating chaos and fear among immigrant communities who I'm not following every single tweet an announcement at the president and are already struggling with economic fragility and with the loss of life into the intended impact is clear regardless of whether it makes any sense or not and regardless of where he lands on this final executive order the times headline trump's trump backs away from a broad ban on immigration but many will still feel affected restrictions what parts does that refer to that he backed away from my mention the guest workers who work mostly in agriculture anyone else well it's hard to say because it's hard to know what he intended and it's also this announcement that we should close our borders seems inconsistent with the idea that we should we open our state so what is it should we be opening up our economy and returning to court and court normal or should we be closing our borders and protecting ourselves and then the other point I would make is that there isn't an intentionality around in and we do this in New York as well that we create a separation between Americans and immigrants your Christian immigrants when these groups are overlapping you know there are plenty of Americans naturalized citizens who are immigrants and plenty of new Yorkers who are immigrants so as a direct answer to your question is it's hard to say because we don't know what his intention was who was he intending to cover and then the last point I just want to make on the sixty days and in the process of getting approved for a green card is pretty long process to temporarily halting green card approvals for sixty days for the average person applying for a green card it's not necessarily a meaningful amount of time because it's usually a long arc as someone who's actually been through the process I can tell you that sixty days is a pretty inconsequential amount and it just speaks to the fact that it's very arbitrary what he's saying so does that mean that this is more political theater than actual impact on potential immigrants live yeah I feel that he he feels backed into a corner and we are watching the unemployment numbers grow the economy continue to suffer and he's pulling anything that he can possibly pull on to ensure that there's a victory in November I think you know there's been a pattern of behavior on his part that indicates not just it's not just about and that winning an election but it's also about self preservation who will be most affected by this what I want and not be found guilty of doing the same thing that I see some of our leaders to write and to separate immigrants from Americans or immigrants in New York I said many of us are suffering whether that's an emotional loss because of a loved one our economic loss and but the impact I themed is going to be the greatest on those who are most vulnerable and most vulnerable because of their immigration status and most vulnerable because they just don't have some of us have financial security or you know back backups that we can rely on and the most vulnerable in our society with their immigrant or not don't have that and that's where I think we're going to see them the most suffering you see let me ask you to clarify the connection because insurance direction is specifically on getting green cards or permanent residency status for the next sixty days I think some of the most vulnerable you're talking about undocumented immigrants who were not up for green card status based on their status and and some others who are not green card applicants right now so what is that broader effect you're trying to describe what so for example let's talk about someone who may be looking to adjust their status right so might be someone who has a work permit who has applied for a green card and again I just want to be clear that we're not exactly sure what what is entailed in this executive order but an example might be someone who is employed on a work visa and who is leading to adjust their status from being what's called an H. one B. worker to a green card holder into maybe there'll be a temporary halt on that it could be someone let's see who's a daca recipient who may who you know may have been undocumented has doctor now possibly got married to someone who is a citizen might be in line for a green card so but it could also be someone who lives outside of the United States see for example I applied for an adjustment of status for my mother and my mother might be waiting in another country for a green card approval and that will get to meet too it's a wide range of people and I want to be very clear that I'm not saying all of those people will be affected but those are examples of the type of people who might be

"Welcome back to the pain free relief factor dot com studios it's the same age Larry elder I think mayor Bloomberg dropped out of the race too early hi Joe Biden going on one on one against Bernie Sanders I'm worried about that because Byton has to get over the whole in Ukraine he might have more data itself might be a problem I think got Bloomberg stayed in the race back out in case by developers to play nine seven one S. A. G. E. triple eight nine seven one seven two four three very elderly secular com studio we're talking about the super Tuesday too which is tonight six states including Michigan polls showing a big leap for joy by the polls have been wrong also there's another debate schedule for Sunday this would just be between Biden and Sanders for the first time and there is an allegation that Joe Biden has been lying about his first wife's auto accident she was tragically killed as with his newborn daughter the person who drove the vehicle that killed her was driving a tractor trailer and Joe Biden on at least two occasions suggested that this driver was drunk there is zero evidence that he was drunk the judge who was looking at the case also said that there's no evidence whatsoever this man was drunk and the daughter of the man contacted Joe Biden and said my father is already tormented as as it is by the fact that he ran his truck into your first wife vehicle any out and now you're using him of being drunk and by the paralegal back to her and said everything's good we have no ill feelings but then repeated the story that the driver was drunk all that and more triple eight nine seven one S. Joe Biden is the front-runner again after he shocked the world on Super Tuesday
"After last night's super Tuesday victories many people are describing vice president Joe Biden as a likely front runner in the democratic primary he was talking about a revolution we started the moment when it creates I can deliver us to mobile where we can do extraordinary extraordinary things he won ten of fourteen states former Vermont senator Bernie Sanders has won the other four states including California Biden's campaign was in a very different place at this time last week to talk about this turn around and where the former vice president goes from here we're joined by Simone Sanders a senior adviser to the Biden campaign welcome hi thanks for having me on let's start with today's news that former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg has suspended his campaign and endorsed your boss how significant do you think that is we think it really helpful and I think what this lends itself to is the fact that my father by did really well yesterday because of the energy and enthusiasm that are campaigning creating and we use the resources that we didn't have that the billions of dollars that mayor Bloomberg had with the resources that we do have a fairly well so while we didn't have offices all over all of the state we did have some we had a lot of distributed organizing happening we had circuit court of the steps up to help us out and the mallet we look forward to the next phase potentially mayor Bloomberg organization that he built depending on what you thought you could be death extremely helpful I have the two of them talked today they have spoken but I am not at liberty to say what they spoke about and that I was not there that is a risk to taking the support from a billionaire and playing into Bernie Sanders narrative that the Biden campaign is one that is supported by the wealthiest of the wealthy well look I think the reality is here is that Democrats across the country are United in one thing wanting to beat Donald Trump and did you want to do that we have to come together and so I thought if I hit on the state last night in his campaign for anyone that had been knocked down in one of the things down and out anyone that desires to get something done and so I you know look it's never worked with the bill of that coalition which I think he does then we are more than happy to have that support the reality here is all right that this race is far from over and that if anyone thought Donald Trump David union just a couple weeks ago you think they're clear I Donald Trump is going to be hard to beat but two Donald Trump has to be beaten so Democrats have to come together and do what needs to be done and we are just excited that there's there's your mentor as we're calling it bye bye for them by the same thing you say the Democrats United in wanting to defeat Donald Trump the party was not United in twenty sixteen and Bernie Sanders supporters felt very alienated by the way the process unfolded what can Biden due to try to win over members of the progressive wing of the party and avoid the split that hurt Democrats four years ago what I think my friend then Biden his campaign our campaign has always been about uniting the country restoring the soul of the nation rebuilding the backbone of the country and United America builder the tenant divide by them by launching a campaign or although I think he's been very clear that if elected president he would need to be a president for everybody and our campaign is in the campaign yes or Obama Biden Democrats led by Democrats are campaigning in pain for everyone everyone who is interested in that regard and frankly I we believe that people don't really want a revolution well people are really looking for the ball when it comes to healthcare when it comes to addressing on gun violence in our country when it comes to the economy so we think that we are well positioned to pull together a broad coalition and as you can see it's already being done you know it's like Biden success last night a lot of democratic voters have been worried about his performance as a candidate I'm some of our reporters in Iowa New Hampshire talk to voters who decided not to vote for a bite and after seeing him in person his debate performances have been uneven how do you reassure Democrats that he has the ability to perform consistently I think that I answer that question is just watch them look my president Biden had a stellar performance in the child and the baby had a stellar performance in the California debate night we look forward to the debate in Phoenix Arizona coming up in just a week little over a week or so and we believe that he will do well but he has kept up a very rigorous schedule on the campaign trail I think anyone who has seen him as of late he that he is not only shark but also a really speaking to the heart of the issue the voters are concerned about and I think that's why we're drawing in the big broad coalition right now are the four let you go you had a viral moment last night tackling tester and tweeted the broken nail what was going through your head in that moment while the split second moment ari we were and I had our big election night rally in cal one yeah and a couple protesters and I can do to take the stage our security was there and acted quickly and we're very grateful for them the number of staffers myself included I jumped in you help handle the situation and I would be happy that everyone is okay no one was hurt my dell desktop I have an eloquent because afternoon Boulevard that Simone Sanders senior adviser to the bite in campaign thanks for joining us thanks

"With mayor Bloomberg you want Arkansas right yeah yeah I I'm I'm just like I'm picturing the piece salsa commercial we look at the ballots New York City you know what are you looking to get to that one let's say he gets a couple respectable thirty third place finishes a few delegates here and there but he's not a fifty percent here in Virginia I see you look at the fact this is you know he's gonna come out tomorrow and maybe have forty or fifty delegates half a billion dollars I mean I think I think should be by Wednesday they could build a future course of of attitude of Hey you know what like liberty gave it you spent a fortune you're wasting your money you're wasting your time this is a two man race I could be wrong the only okay that course also was because as long as Bloomberg stays in there you've got to relatively moderate Democrats running against the communists they're they're splitting the anti Bernie vote there on their side and that's dangerous if you don't want to comment to get the nomination and the other thing is also I think you get the sense will be look what Tom's tire by does we have had mentioned Tom started this conversation because simply doesn't matter if you know the sort of things like the the question would be all right Michael number what are you doing what are you compromising and you know I'm sure the bluebirds I I probably this weekend the blooper campaign's argument was don't know if we leave more Bernie Sanders wins by bigger margins and I got to go double check that now I'm not sure what you get but you know the question would that be okay you chose not to compete this first for states to really an orthodox move left a try that was Rudy Giuliani back in two thousand eight it didn't work for him okay let's see what you want to produce a do much on super Tuesday what is the justification for Mike Bloomberg staying in this race that's a good question.
Election 2020 highlights: Democrats jockey for support ahead of S.C. primary
"Much all right we're gonna bring in our political analyst Mr Gerry Dietrich joining us on a Wednesday morning well Sir here we go I mean Vegas was fun and then South Carolina was just as fun what's your headline from last night well I'm certainly one of the headline has to be that Bloomberg look likely to actually engage in the debate thank you course last week with disastrous for him unless it was like a clear themselves fine he took a lot of flak again yesterday but that was probably the biggest most dramatic change down from last week to this week so Gary I promised our listeners before we went to the commercial break that the one question I would ask you is this Joe Biden promised last night that he would win South Carolina you think you can keep that promise what is the polls definitely show him continuing to be in the lead stand however that leaders shrunk considerably certainly the standard momentum is gonna have something to do with that I don't think there's any guaranteed fighting Biden knows very well himself if he doesn't win South Carolina it makes things very difficult for him going into super Tuesday Gail had absolutely no mom that you're having not won a single contract yet so the conventional thinking this morning is Elizabeth Warren did pretty well once again another debate but you know she has one of those campaigns here that's running on fumes financially Amy Klobuchar's sort of in the same situation do we see it do any of these people drop out after so after Saturday yeah I don't think they drop out after Saturday next Tuesday yeah I'm super Tuesday of course were the biggest prize in that here in California that really is going to be the waters for stocks now in many states that are honest people get fifteen percent of the vote delegates now goes to one of the others so that's really going to be the big cast here super Tuesday where a third of the democratic guy delegates he's domination are going to be doled out all right let's look forward to Tuesday because it affects so many of us in California what what are you hearing here in California who's doing well is are there any odds on favorites from the from your sources what you have to say that Sanders is in a strong position this race continues to be here hello but here's a guy a course you ran in the state and ran strongly for years ago against Hillary Clinton and it's pretty tremendous amount of resources on the ground the most interesting to watch next including here in California is going to be of course mayor Bloomberg because him he hasn't been on a single ballot yet you know little to debate and nobody can look for that changes on Tuesday and that's really going to be I think what everybody's gonna be scrutinizing is did these hundreds of millions of dollars by the delegates at Bloomberg helps a well one last quick question how did Tom Steiner duty in your estimation last night he did fine and you know what he's currently in third position South Carolina that's very strong but a lot of it of resources in that state and so you know he's a god causes on money to stay in the U. britaniji and well beyond okay good thanks a lot appreciate the time on a Wednesday morning it's our political analyst Gary Dietrich weighing in on what happened and South Carolina pretty consistent with what we're reading this morning was what he's saying the report card seems to be a pretty universal overall it was Sanders ahead sliders that was the right man of the hour right into the evening it was his game to lose and even lose it it's gonna be interesting to see what happens super
Elizabeth Warren Challenges Michael Bloomberg on 'Kill It' Abortion Comment
"We crossed the top of the hour. We continue our coverage of tonight's democratic debate from Charleston South Carolina as we said in the last hour. One of the biggest moments came early on Elizabeth Warren directed at Michael Bloomberg. When I was twenty one years old I got my first job as a special education teacher. I love that job and by the end of the first year. I was visibly pregnant. The principal wished me luck and gave my job to someone else so I packed stuff and I went home. At least I didn't have a boss who said to me. Kill it the way that Mayor Bloomberg never led said to one of them on employees. I never said that they were the record of truism teacher in New York City. She would never have had that problem. We treated our teachers. The right way mayor Bloomberg went on with a longer explanation of what was part of a legal case standing by with Chris Matthews in the Spin Room Senator Elizabeth Warren. Thank you so much Brian. Do you believe that? The former mayor of New York said that to a pregnant employee. Well pregnant employee said that he did. Why shouldn't I believe her? You know I'm just really tired of this world. This one is personal for me. It really is but you aim. Hi pregnancy discrimination is real and we have gone on and on and on where people say. Oh I can't really believe the woman really why not Mayor Bloomberg has nondisclosure agreements. For who knows how many women and it's not just the one the whole point is how can you actually trust someone who will not just say look? I'm going to wave on nondisclosure on sexual harassment and discrimination. Anybody who has a story to tell can come with. Everybody deserves incredible response when they make a charge like that. My question about him. You believe he's lying. I believe the woman you believe. Which was he's not telling the truth and why we live because just to protect themselves. Yeah and why would she? If that's the question why breaking as the Gospel to make sure you're clear about this. You're confident of your accusation. But all I know is what she said what he said and I've been on her end of in the sense of discrimination based on pregnancy. It happens all across this country and men all across this country. Oh my gosh he never would have said. Yeah really okay. Let's talk about redlining that we're talking about an audience down here. A heavily African American Uh constituency down here and just put. These are tough charges. What is it that he did red lining that you believe is bad? Have you seen the video? And which he describes that the housing crisis see there had been redlining and then the government caught involved and forced all of these banks to lend money to poor people and then hit. That's how he describes the housing crisis. That's blaming African Americans and Latinos who were discriminated against on housing for decades. The very act that created a black white wealth gap that persists until this day. He blames that on the people who were victimized by you. Don't here's the thing it's redlining and what happened afterwards. You know after nine hundred and sixty five when redlining was finally made illegal. We just kind of go to neutral laws. African Americans start buying homes at higher rates. And then what happens? The giant banks on Wall Street target African American Communities Target Latino communities for the worst of the worst mortgages stripping whatever wealth had been those homes back away from them of course then took it nationwide and crash. The entice fits complete with your career. I don't I don't doubt a bit of what you've been saying but strategically. Why did you decide to go after Bloomberg tonight and not Bernie Sanders? Who is really rowing? Up The score. Right down this fight so I gotTa Tell You. I think is is the riskiest candidates standing on that stage. He is risky because he's already spent a half a billion dollars nearly as that what he's crowding in on at this point and because he thinks he can buy this election and he puts out on TV with all his millions and millions and millions of dollars this image of Michael Bloomberg that just doesn't fit reality Bernie Sanders. I don't know but I think that he would be view. Worst nominee for the Democrats and he is the worst nominee because he cannot be trusted by the base of the Democratic Party. Let's shift the attention to Bernie Sanders. Who is doing very well right now. You may wind down. And you may wind down here Let me ask you about your your. Very strong statement about him was that you can do a better job as that's that gets to executive ability it gets to relations with other political figures gets to effectiveness. And where do you? Where do you found that? What's your basis for saying it's experience notice your ability as a as a legislator compared to him give me some anecdotal evidence where you are better better president potentially the he is so Bernie and I both wanted to rein in Wall Street of the financial crash of two thousand and eight gave both of us a chance to do that but I was. The one who did the hard work fought with wall. Street fought with the banks built the coalitions and actually one and got the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau passed into law. That's a great accomplishment. Let me ask you giving star where he had to fight against other only have a couple of minutes show host out. I worked on the hill longtime and I watched what could get done. What could I watch the filibuster? Sixty vote requirement every serious legislative initiative. You need sixty votes or at least to the US reconciliation. Which deals with fiscal totals? And you can use that sometimes to just operate with a majority now. Everybody has ideas. You've got much more modest ideas than Bernie in terms of quick this and universality and all that other things how do you get anything through Congress that so fifty fifty divided since the end of fifty fifty roughly one side of the other? You know it's GonNa end up point about I'm willing Mitch. Mcconnell does what he did to Barack Obama them. I'm willing to roll back the filibuster. How many votes does that take the fifty one? Or fifty it can use the nuclear option. Guesswork at look part of it is it. Depends on what Mitch McConnell if he stays in blocking position. But here's the assure agreed to do this. Here's the majority leader's. The party is majority leader. I haven't asked it is. I have been out building the foundation for this for over a year building allies. Because that's how you get things on if we want a president. Who gets things done to look? After the last debate I was a quarter of a million people came to Elizabeth Warren Dot Com. And said I want to join this? I want to be part of this fight. I think that's where we are again tonight. I hope it does go done. You got to think through. How do you have a roll-call Fifty Democrats for maybe a couple of Republicans who will get rid of the filibuster? Do you know what that can happen. So it doesn't happen if you don't get out there and build it when I started fighting for the Consumer Financial Protecion Bureau's do you know what the odds were. They were like ninety nine to one. Nobody thought we could do this. We not only were up against every republic show. We were up against half the Democrats but you stay after eight. You reel it in US pressure from the outside to build the coalition. Sometimes you have to make a compromise. Stark legislation passed with only a fifty fifty situation. What I think because this is an issue. Here's took Ted Kennedy and sixty fifty nine other. Democrats to get sea. It took sixty. And you'RE GONNA burn. You're talking about big changes that you would get in a fifty fifty. Is that health and country. Look what country is where it is progressive or can I have one chance to make transformative change. And we better do it. We better be effective on this. And here's the thing. We cancel that student loan debt. There's no going back. We make that investment in universal childcare. There's no going back. We make that investment in housing. There's no going back that's what we need to do. Make the transformative change. Get it through. And then we're going to hang onto it because we his transformative we will change this country. That's why I'm in the Spike Chris. I can tell thank you very much and everybody knows you mean it. Thank you very much Elizabeth Warren. Us Senator from Massachusetts back
Bloomberg fills the Obama vacuum
"Has another problem about you're obviously Joe Biden has a big problem in that he used to be able to talk now he's got dementia Alzheimers whatever the hell is going to know where he is he's bumping into walls so at the most embarrassing thing for by news where is Obama Obama hasn't endorsed them Biden keeps mentioning Obama what he and Barack did what he and Obama did with our administration meantime Obama obviously is not endorsing him and obviously doesn't even like him has no interest in Obama's been secretly helping the fall Patrick seep secretly helping Elizabeth Warren is endorsed somebody in the Canadian racism Dorsey people all the time but he won't endorse Biden so to it's a bit of an embarrassment for Biden so Bloomberg cashes in on this by running these commercials where Obama appears to be endorsing Bloomberg you've seen these commercials were not what it was and this happens a lot when you're at a big event in your speaking the president speaking usually the president will get up and say nice things about all the dignitaries in as a senator Schumer's here I'll say some great things about Schumer it's good to have mayor Bloomberg here that'll say some great things about mayor Bloomberg so that happened on ten occasions so Bloomberg cut together all that footage where you hear Obama say mayor Bloomberg has been one of the great leaders in the country and he and I together been fighting of the so it took a bunch of us come together so it looks like Obama is endorsing Bloomberg now audio has just emerged yesterday from two thousand sixteen of Bloomberg saying he can't really stand bomba and a bomb is not a great president and that he wishes he had voted for a romp or supported right well yeah he says right we would have been better off around so this is just emerged out to another one of these things were Bloomberg is speaking at one of these elitist ridiculous conferences that's why all these audio always emerges a Bloomberg saying these stupid things if you want to be a great politician you go speak at the state fair you go speak at that kind of stuff you go speak in Nebraska that's where you learn how to speak to people that's what Bill Clinton is so good he learned to speak by talking to workers at a seven eleven when you know when you learn how to explain policy to them you'd really know how to do it Donald Trump spent his life on construction sites talking to blue collar guys he knows how to talk to people Bloomberg when he speaks it's at Davos it's at the Aspen Institute in this case with the anti Obama remarks it was at the Goldman Sachs speaker series when you speak in the Goldman Sachs of the Aspen Institute you're totally removed from all American voters so more and more audio Elizabeth Warren was right but when she said you know that we don't know what's lurking out there about Bloomberg's waiting to come out
Former New York City Mayor Bloomberg says he'll release three women from NDAs
"Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg says he's ready to release three women from non disclosure agreements they're related to comments they say Bloomberg made during his business career the democratic presidential candidate has been under pressure since the Washington post reported the existence of the agreements they came under fire at this week's democratic debate in Nevada especially from Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren my the question is challaned by being muzzled by you and you release them from that the media of course that audio from NBC news joining us in studio with more on this and PR skills he's now welcome back hi there what have you learned about these agreements and these women Bloomberg says that he and his company if I identified three nondisclosure agreements that were signed over more than thirty years he doesn't identify the women or say much about who they are and he puts it on them to come forward and ask if they want to be released when The Washington Post did originally our report on this they identified three men three women as well and they named them based on public records on lawsuits but that's the only information we have right now and what more does Bloomberg say he's going to do he released a fairly lengthy statement and he said that he's willing to release the agreements because he says quote I recognize that NDAs particularly when they are used in the context of sexual harassment and sexual assault promote a culture of silence in the workplace and contribute to a culture of women not feeling safe or supported which is essentially the argument that Warren was making throughout the debate he does go on to outline a broader plan and he talks about addressing sexual harassment in the workplace and workplace equality a couple of the things that he mentions there are twelve weeks paid family leave and paycheck fairness and he's he's saying that this is part of a broader push by his campaign and making it not just about these nondisclosure agreements but also about the policies he would promote as president it can we talk about the why right now I mean as we mentioned Elizabeth Warren came down on the former mayor very hard in the debate and I mean based on what I saw he didn't look eager to jump on this issue then yeah it was a very uncomfortable moment for him it seems and he seemed to struggle to respond to the question you know he hit the warning came after him repeatedly and she kept bringing it back up and you know this is a little bit of the back and forth that we heard we have very few non disclosure agreements how many the company has accused me of doing anything other than maybe they didn't like to joke I told and let me just let me he's been criticized a lot for that statement about a joke I told we saw it all over Twitter and Warren is brought that back up again she definitely has not let this go she brought it back up again at the opening of a CNN town hall last night and where she held up a contract he said she's a lawyer she knows how these things work and she said it was a contract that he could use to release the women from their agreements it's also pretty important to remember that Bloomberg's base of support here is primarily suburban women and he is making a really strong effort in many of the ads that he's put together so far to target women specifically he has an ad that it it's been includes just women talking about their experience and why they're supporting him and he needs to kind of shore up this part of the conversation with
Breaking Down Bloomberg's First Debate
"Up on today's podcast. The ninth and possibly the liveliest democratic debate in Las Vegas. This was the first debate performance for Michael Bloomberg and the other candidates came out swinging. I like to talk about who were running against a billionaire who calls women fat broads and horseface lesbians and no. I'm not talking about Donald Trump. I'm talking about Mayor Bloomberg. It was also the first chance for Bloomberg to respond to criticism on the public stage. Here's an exchange with Senator Elizabeth Warren as she pressed him to release women employees from nondisclosure agreements that prevent them from talking about sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. I hope you heard what is defense was. I've been nice to some women. The mayor has to stand on his record and what we need to know. Exactly what's lurking out there? He has gotten some number of women. Dozens who knows to sign nondisclosure agreements. Both for sexual harassment and for gender discrimination in the workplace. So Mr Are you willing to release all of those women from those nondisclosure agreements? So we can hear their side of the story. We have a very few nondisclosure agreements. How many finish. How many of them accused me of doing anything? Other than maybe. They didn't like joke. I told and let me let me play agreements between two parties. That wanted to keep it quiet and that's up to them. They signed those agreements and we'll live with taxes you know from all sides and just want to show everybody a quick exchange between Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg believed it Democratic Socialists. Working People not billion as healthcare for all educational opportunities. Chopstick we have the best known socialists. In the country happens to be a millionaire with three houses. But I miss here. Well you'll still work in Washington housewives. The first problem live in Burlington House too. That's good and like thousands of other Vermont. Subba cap to give me for that whereas your home which talks which tax haven New York New York City. Thank you very much on my taxes. And I'm happy to do it because I get something for. Bloomberg also drew negative reaction from the audience for his comments on releasing his tax retur variously transparency Mayor Bloomberg. Your campaign has said that he would eventually release your tax records when it comes to transparency but people are already voting now why should Democratic voters have to wait? It just takes us a long time unfortunately or fortunately fortunately I make a lot of money and we business all around the world and we are preparing. The number of pages will probably be the thousands of pages. I can't go to turbo tax but I put up my tax return every year for twelve years in City Hall. We will put out this one. It says tells everybody everything they need to know about every investments that I make and where the money goes and the biggest item is all the money I give away and we list that every single donation I make and you can get that from our from our foundation anytime you want. And this was Bloomberg's response to whether he supported Senator Bernie Sanders proposal. That would require all large companies to turn over up to twenty percent of their ownership to employees overtime absolutely not. I can't think of a ways that would make it easier for Donald Trump to get reelected and listening to this conversation ridiculous. We're not going to throw out capitalism. We tried that other countries tried that was called Communism and it just didn't work again. That was an answer that actually agreed with. There was some people who said that's not the answer you given a Democratic primary. That it's an answer you would give if you were in the actual campaign against president trump but that was the one that really resonated with me with. Yeah okay. Honest answer on that part of Ari Fleischer on twitter last night tweet aways going on saying that. He couldn't fathom how the whole Party that nobody in the party when they're asking their capitalism everybody's there with the exception maybe of Mayor Bloomberg I think Amy Klobuchar also said that she was a capitalist of believe in capitalism. But you know you know how everybody gone mad that this is just not what it is but by the way I mean Look Bernie. Sanders calls himself a socialist. Whether it's a democratic socialist or whatever you WANNA call the it's strange led a little bit of circa firing squad feel for me or someone said a gun fight in a lifeboat or something like that. But but what what I'm coming to realize is that Bernie is in the stage. Yep He's got grassroots. He Does Sport. And these people are gonNA turn out and if he just keeps winning and winning and winning. I don't know what you do. There's a difference between the democratic establishment and millions of of Democrats. That are voting for him. And you can't just say no. We don't like the way this looks so we don't like our prospect and who knows what the prospects really are. You never knew. He may have some people think he might one four years ago if he so. I've always been a Bernie Bro and BRO now. Well no Birdie Bro. If I had to pick I'm not sure at this point I immediately came in and I said to you this morning. What else you got sick Bernie because you think that makes it better or ascribe any type of weird and just let's is beyond her hand in a while snow but seriously that's the sixty came up. You got anything got anybody else you got it. We're shoulders Howard Schultz. Is he done? He's definitely divall Patrick and he come back and Bloomberg's campaign seemed to acknowledge his difficulty with this last night. I think he got better at the end to answer at the end was a fairly strong answer. His campaign said he's just warming. I mean the. What's the the reason the night? By the way do you know Neil Patel? We've had on the program. The rights that that Bloomberg is the gap that Bloomberg's performance the gap between an influence or marketing campaign and putting an actual product in front of reviewers. And I thought that captured beautifully Ashley happening here and I think it is online he. He's you know if you had sixty billion dollars you really do start thinking that you just might us man and when it comes to the woman whatever you want to say it but when it comes down when when the rubber meets the road you really do have to debate and you need to be good and fast and strong and all those things none of which and I started feeling. Sorry for he did. Have everybody coming after is not something we really happy. Start Feeling. Sorry for him. But there's an old adage in its most Jewish things don't ever feel sorry for someone has a Gulfstream jet. You just never never feel sorry for someone who has a g six V you just. Shouldn't I mean there could be things that happened? They can always fall. But you still felt sorry for. It'd be because as you know and I've said it a million times. Maybe he's not a great debater isn't clearly but if you look at what? I what he did in the city in the public sector and then the private sector. We're different we're different on what we think is competent and a nanny. State to me is competent. Well no no. Other major initiatives took it was. Well run under Giuliani to look at him now than in your eyes. I mean you think he's like a lunatic. Look let's just leave it at Bernie Bro- stick with that. He's in the center. He's at fifty eight percent. Something on League dictums on CNBC earlier. This week I don't know if it was yesterday the day before and I guess. He said that he thinks. Bernie Sanders bigger threat to the markets. Then they'd run a virus and your lights night's performance. You wonder if there's anybody who's GonNa stop along the way but the market and took the Marlboros. Go UP THE STRONGER. He gets because he's a could be another McGovern. I'm not I'm not coming out of my no. Well we know what you think but put the markets aside. Let's Talk Real Economy Bernie Sanders. Wins Your CEO in America. You're see on America's because this to me is really to one thing Mike Bloomberg was right about okay. Bernie can't win but no I'm saying if Bernie wins I think that every ceiling American not to Bernie San monkeys flat out of my reread to leave the set. Look by the way people can carry where he says the same thing trump right and even even two months before he won. People would don't really you don't really think that's the same thing. No I'm not saying it's health your honest opinion of what is Bernie's if you had to bet all your money on what. What are his chances for winning? Is it twenty five percent? Do you think it's that high winning? In general winning in the general we in the journey and the general third no more than you think a third see. I think that's I don't think it's a third what was weird less gets overwhelming at all. No I think it's I think in becomes very what would there have to be more. I don't know what would happen. He'd have to be the nominee and something else anyway. Joining us right now with reaction to last night's debate pollster and political strategist frank. Bunce FRANK WANNA get your action to all of this. I think the whole night was challenging moment. I WANNA take you back to two thousand twelve when Rick. Perry was moving three or four points a week in the race against Mitt Romney. He participates in the first debate. And he's destroyed and it ends his candidacy. I think Mike Bloomberg we will look back at this debate potentially as the beginning of the end because he did not come across as prepared and more importantly I don't think captured the tone of the audience that he doesn't understand that there are more women than men who are Democrats that they don't like this Aggressive behavior and I don't think in Blooberg defense of capitalism against socialism. He doesn't realize that. So many Democrats prioritize socialism over Frank. I WanNa ask you about the preparedness issue. Because he I know we'll say he only got into this campaign ten ten weeks ago but he's been preparing for this for a very very long time. How could he not have been more prepared? Well and what were the right answers to some of these questions? Well I so I want viewers to know that I did work for Bloomberg in two thousand one and back then. He doesn't like language. He doesn't like debates he doesn't like that. Kinda give and take that's not what he's about. The problem is it's what the Democrats are about and he should've known that these candidates who are going to take him on frankly. I don't know what the response is for the challenge about the nondisclosure agreements in terms of capitalism vs socialism. He's GonNa Remember. You should know that. The average Democrat is working class. The average Democrat is middle income and having a capitalism vs socialism debate among the average Democrat. Bloomberg's GonNa lose that and Bernie Sanders and the reason why is leading right now is going to win that contest. Frank do you believe Bloomberg will follow through on his promise to spend another half a billion dollars defeating Donald Trump on one of these people that just you know completely eviscerated him last night. Have you think once he realized you just said maybe it's the beginning of the end of his candidacy? He sees it. He's not going to be the candidate. Will he follow through and spend another four or five hundred million dollars on somebody else well? He's not done because we still have a South Carolina debate coming up and Super Tuesday. If you look at the state by state polling Bloomberg is actually taken the lead in some of these states doesn't if you said that it's probably the beginning of the end it was. Do you believe he will follow through and spend his money to defeat? Donald Trump by backing Bernie sanders or the eventual nominee is. Do you believe he'll do? I think Mike Bloomberg will have a problem backing Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren because he simply disagrees with them ideologically on their economic last night's performance by Elizabeth. Warren puts her back in the game in a way that she might not have been just Twenty four hours ago. I'm going to surprise you but my answer is no because I don't like Democrats attacking Democrats they want you to focus on donald trump but that's what Bernie Sanders has been doing so successfully and he seems to be the runner. And that's exactly. Why is the Front runner and Elizabeth Warren Attacking Buddha judge as well as Bloomberg? I don't think that sits well with the average Democrat. I'm will tell you know. Sandra has been attacking his his competitors in this race. No He's been speaking clearly and loudly and pronounce way in a position that for the center of the Democratic Party. And they like what he's saying and he is going to trump more than the rest of them I think last night was a good good debate night for Sanders because he clearly articulated a point of view that none of you may agree with but for the center of the Democratic Party. Remember this is not the center of America for the center of the Democratic Party Bernie. Sanders speaks to them. He's emotional he's passionate and it's the reason why he's now the front runner and what we got to run but what happens if if he is the nominee against trump given what you know given what okay. What are your odds for the first time ever ever on a TV program? I will say that trump will have the narrowest of advantages narrowest inch. Yes that's all that's all this going to be a brawl. It's going to be ugly selection ever and even though centers outside the mainstream the press will protect him. The media does not want trump elected. It will come down to election day. Okay Frank clots with an interesting perspective. Great to see this morning. Thank you thank

"That but let me do a little bit of politics because we do have Joe Biden idea which I've got to share with you but first here's the conclusion of the conversation without shop that just said it's Biden booted judging Bloomberg are the only three Democrats left in the course already voted for Bernie but here's what I said right now we're down to three days Bernie Sanders people dated June mayor Bloomberg basically a Republican or done like guns are Pepsi and I Bernie Sanders is authentic and I think people that a judge of the generational change those three are in the right time politic Morenstein it's nice of yet circuits on for a little bit more but they're both don and I think we know that that is caught what's interesting to me al is that these primaries become open primaries in ten days South Carolina Republicans are voting on super Tuesday already voted for Bernie Sanders I told Chuck Todd that on meet the press and I because I got the absentee in Virginia Texas is open to all sorts of states are open Republicans get the pick whether they want a patient authentic socialist like Bernie Sanders whether they want to face a Republican light like Mike Bloomberg or whether the generational change can they be the judge and I actually think the most important thing is where does the African American vote go and and if I'm not gonna ask you a question on your own show I'll but I am very curious about who you're gonna indoors because I think that's going to matter well you hit me were two things that I want to go to buy all of the panelists because of that all going to let you great near my bow it I was trying to trap al their bodies is a sly old fox and he wouldn't wouldn't take my date is that it wouldn't take my but I love al talking among the TV shows I got him on the radio show look I know a lot you hate al but I get along with them at all you got along with him I've been interviewing him since the nineties when I was out to Casey tease life and times of my hair with brown and al Wade though he doesn't still more than he does now but I I am telling you al's importance in the democratic primary and not to be overstated body being canny won't commit the guy and even the commit then says hello Joe Biden who is not slow a bit xcelerated away going over the cliff he is in an area Hari Rameau's I like horror almost cut number two we can afford to do this in terms this is a big country the idea we can accommodate more people in the interest of the United States and by the way guess what the reason why the legal as well as on documented the reason why our society is functioning review our economy is growing we'll talk about that we stand up and act like it's a burden it is not a burden it's a gift they're not really aghast it is an illegal act that we have to deal with it's not otherwise we just throw open every port in every border and say come in get we do

Joe Biden out of New Hampshire, Mike Bloomberg on New York's controversial stop-and-frisk
"Of the hour in New Hampshire it is New Hampshire primary day two big stories emerging one Joe Biden apparently decided not gonna go well here and he's on his way out of the state live free or die well will die and no go to South Carolina and try and pick up our political chips and fortunes there and the other is you know mayor Bloomberg but nobody ever sees the guy he has been spending millions and millions and millions of dollars on ads and you know seventeen years support stop and frisk that's not really even the issue here now we've got these tapes that have emerged about him and it is shocking were you so you'll know your resting kids for marijuana they're all minorities only not ever really any said because we're only putting cops we put all the cops in minority areas why because that's where all the crime is what that's not a broad sweeping generalization I would argue that it probably is let's listen to the montage of mayor Bloomberg that we've been talking about all day including yeah cops bust throw of minority kids up against the wall and our crime strategies and tools including stop question frisk have made New York City the safest big city in America the fact that stops match up with crime statistics and the fact that our police officers on patrol the majority of whom are black Hispanic or members of other ethnic or racial minorities make an average about less than one stop a week victims and perpetrators of crime are disproportionately young minority man that's just a fact you can look at the victims you can look at who we are arrest you can ask witnesses injectors for
Thousands turn out for first day of early voting in Nevada caucuses
"Democratic race to challenge president trump has moved to Nevada where Democrats are looking to prove. They could build a diverse coalition of support in a primary race. Many now expect to stretch on for months this morning. I'll speak with two candidates former mayor people to judge and Senator Amy Klobuchar who are tried to capitalize on momentum. Coming out of New Hampshire joining me now from Vegas. Is the candidate with the most democratic delegates. Pete booted. Thank you so much for joining me this morning. Mr I want to. With the Culinary Union in Nevada the Culinary Union is coming out against Bernie Sanders Healthcare Plan. Because it would do away with the deal that they negotiated with private insurers that led to some sanders supporters personally attacking the union leaders. Sanders had has disavowed the attacks. I WanNa show you what he said. He said. That harassment of all forms is unacceptable to me and we urge supporters of all campaigns not to engage in bullying or ugly personal attacks. You've been critical of Sanders of about all of this. Is that good enough for you. You know it's really disturbing to see the Culinary Union attacked when these are workers who have stood up and fought for among other things. Good healthcare plans. They're not interested in Washington taking away their choice and I think part of what's at stake in this election is the idea the idea. I'm putting forward of delivering healthcare to everybody. So there's no such thing as an uninsured American but doing it with Medicare for all who wanted while union members and others who have good plans are able to keep it You know no one should go after working people For wanting to defend and grow what they have earned and it's a key point of difference at the policy level Between me and Senator Sanders and also I think A very important that That supporters of any candidate do this with respect. We have a crisis of respect and decency obviously in the White House right. Now he'd have competition on our side but Y- you know I'll leave it to senator sanders to characterize What's going on with his own supporters. What I'll tell you that I'm focused on making sure that my own supporters and our campaign conduct this competition even when it's heated with a level of respect for where people are coming from because we're talking about workers standing up for their own care so you say that your health care plan is better for unions in particular because their members could keep their private insurance. But you also have said that if your health care plan is a success it could create a quote glide path to Medicare for all. Can you guarantee to these union? Workers that if you're elected president they will be able to keep their private healthcare plan. Absolutely look Senator Sanders plan by definition abolishes. Private plans like what the culinary workers and other workers across Nevada in America have mine does not. It's a simple clear in major difference. Now as you pointed out if my plan is the very best insurance plan in America and I think it just might be then eventually everybody will cross over to it but I want them to be able to decide and in the event that it's not if some plans out there are better. Why WOULD WE WANNA kick anybody off of it? This is a common sense position that most Americans support it still amounts to the most progressive major reform to healthcare that. We've had in fifty years but it is doable. I it makes sense. It's the right policy And it has the advantage of being something that Americans could actually unite around the next presence going to be taking office in dangerously divided Washington. Here we have an opportunity to have bowled big meaningful change and actually have that bold change. Be Unifying rather than divisive. Why wouldn't we take that opportunity? Okay so Mr Mayor. Let's talk about the race that you're in right now. You have the most delegates after the first two contests They were overwhelmingly white states. The race is about to get much more diverse and a new quinnipiac poll showed that since last month the former vice president Joe Biden his support among black voters has fallen by more than twenty points but mayor Bloomberg his support among black voters has tripled to twenty two percent. You on the other hand. You're at four percent Why aren't those voters coming to you? You know I'm not focused on poll numbers right now. We're having conversations with voters. Many of whom by the way Have been very busy in their lives and Last year were saying you know. Come back to me when there are more than twenty of you and are taking a different and new. Look at the candidates now that we've demonstrated that we've been able to gain support in states like Iowa New Hampshire become more racially diverse states like here in Nevada and South Carolina. Many of the voters of color that I'm talking to are focused particularly on a in particular on one thing defeating Donald Trump Look nobody is experiencing the pain of living under this administration. More than voters of color. And I'm talking to a lot of highly pragmatic voters. "Twenty democratic race is in Nevada next weekend Michael Bloomberg is not on the ballot there but he continues to campaign hard even amidst allegations now of sexual harassment at his workplace CBS news correspondent Skyler Henry reports from Washington but I'm going to convince the public that they should vote for me Michael Bloomberg is not participating in the Nevada caucuses but the billionaire is on the campaign trail today stumping in Richmond Virginia he's also pushing back against the Washington post piece detail yeah allegations around what Bloomberg is said and about his workplace culture of sexual harassment and degradation Bloomberg tweeted today I will always be a champion for women in the workplace Vermont senator Bernie Sanders meanwhile laced into billionaire former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg at a Democratic Party dinner in Las Vegas Sanders rattled off a list of Bloomberg here sees against the Democratic Party including implementing racist policies like stop and frisk in New York and opposing the minimum wage or higher taxes on the wealthy during the Obama administration Sanders said the simple truth is that mayor Bloomberg with all his money will not create the kind of excitement and energy we need to have the voter turnout we must have to defeat Donald
Sanders Cements Front-Runner Status After New Hampshire Win
"Phase following Tuesday's New Hampshire primary senator Bernie Sanders won the contest former south bend Indiana mayor people to judge finish close behind him followed by centering the clover char senator Elizabeth Warren and former vice president Joe Biden this victory here is the beginning of the end but Donald Trump vulnerable Americans do not have the luxury of pursuing ideological purity hello America I'm Amy clubbers are and I will be Donald Trump we have beaten the odds every step of the way former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg looms and he is making overtures to African American voters I think we're going to do very well and in the African American community they need a good economy they need better schools and those are the kinds of things that I can bring him Josh you've been on the campaign trail with mayor Bloomberg all week can he get over his stop and frisk policy from New York and win over African American voters in South Carolina but more importantly perhaps in super Tuesday states in early March I was really stunned to see the number of African American supporters that showed up at his events this week as we were with him in Tennessee and North Carolina even in the wake of these tapes coming out and I asked them you know it is this something that bothers you and they largely said no I think there is there is an element that similar to Joe Biden where people feel like they know Mike Bloomberg because he's been on the stage for so long they say things like I know where his heart is but look there is Mike Bloomberg is a double edged sword in a couple ways the same elements that make him appealing as a former Republican because he seems like he might be able to peel off some trump boater center right Republicans make him anathema to the part of that democratic base that wants a progressive firebrand to push their costs and the same part of him that is sort of a a technocrat data driven let statistics inform your policy makes him appealing and and successful as a businessman and mayor also means that he says said a lot of things in his career that may be numerically accurate but are also very off color and and really run people long long way and may bloomers not the only one facing challenges with African American voters may have put a judge still faces questions about his policing record in south bend insanely senator any club which are on the rise from New Hampshire faced facing some scrutiny ever prosecutorial record yeah look I won New Hampshire are very different states from Nevada and the Carolinas in white very different from the states that will dominate on super Tuesday as well and for all the support we're seeing nationally like you look at the African American vote in particular right and no democratic nominee has won the nomination without winning the majority of that but it just doesn't happen everyone has been looking at former vice president Joe Biden but when you are a whole mess image is electability and you come in fourth and fifth in the early contests you start to lose ground we're seeing that already in South Carolina who's benefited from that so far in South Carolina Tom Stiers picking up some of those voters the Bloomberg is not conceding a lot of money on TV spending a lot of money he's messaging and all the right ways he's picking up on the people who are picking up on their own doubts about about Biden but nationally in the same national polls we've seen where Biden support among African Americans has been dropping Bloomberg has been stepping in to pick up some of those votes so it's still a very fluid race I was done and I was down in South Carolina last weekend I running story about Joe Biden there is giving certainly sees it as a far well it's a place where he has to turn around has to bring Afghanistan voters out I'm a lot of folks a mistake thank you still can I talk to Jim Clyburn this week because most prominent Democrat a mistake he says if you like himself today Biden when did you go to the polls a mistake by can still has a lead he has not endorsed with Steve Benjamin the mayor of Columbia of the capital there said to me if your heart given select ability if you're coming in third fourth and fifth in the state photos of a start taking other look to different people he has a he has a foreman and stuff you want out of black pastors and state legislators and others who were with him right now the question is if they see momentum fading what do they do it what about Bernie Sanders the Vermont senator he won New Hampshire Kenny stitch together a coalition especially as senator Elizabeth Warren struggles on the left well if you want to enter any near you very nearly one Iowa he won the popular vote in Iowa and so from his perspective he ought to be the overwhelming front runner considered that way and use it if you win the first two states you ought to be on a glide path to the nomination however I I think you there's a lot of caveats around that from visit the so called democratic establishment right is there gonna just I was when I was a lovely there is absolutely there is and and they are fearful that Bernie Sanders candidacy would not be electable and and that's on the minds of a lot of democratic voters as well that's why people are flocking to favor judging Amy clover charm my bluebird because they so desperately just want to be trump they're willing to forgive almost anything else no that's not true of every democratic voter but it's true of a lot of the non Bernie supporters and so they this faction of the Democratic Party the sort of mainstream of the Democratic Party is saying you know just because he's able to win in a fractured field with twenty five percent of the vote does not show that he can be the standard bearer for the whole party that he can broaden his appeal versus being just a factional candidates what's going to be his challenge going for to see if you can consolidate more the party around Josh I remember when I first met shoes at Pete booted judges campaign announcement south in Indiana a year ago you've been covering his campaign closely as well as a narrow second place finish in New Hampshire how is he capitalizing as he looks not only South Carolina Nevada but super Tuesday well he started to really ramp up his operations in other parts of the country he's says that he now is going to have staff in every state that is competing on super Tuesday what's the message though the message is that he is a coalition builder someone that can bring people together and that is some of these other candidates start to drop out in the field windows that he will start to consolidate some of that support from these other moderate candidates but one of the things that we've heard over and over again from voters the cycles were talking to them around the country is that you know in Washington we talk about sort of the progressive lane in the moderate lane and they're not thinking of it that way you talk to Bernie supporters who say you know my second choice is that people are judging talk to Warren supporters you say my second choice is Joe Biden and so it's difficult to predict how that's all going to play out as the field continues to get smaller senator clover char you've seen minority candidates struggle in twenty twenty in this democratic race female candidates have had a rough time with senator clover jar suddenly comes almost out of no where in finishes a strong third in New Hampshire Kenshi capitalize on that quickly enough to actually make a dent in this race and and be a contender you know we've seen her kind of step up to seize the moment in her own words there she sees that they have momentum she things are messages starting to resonate with what is that message right now it's that message of this is what makes sense to me that you know you don't have to go all the way to the left to go over this with a super progressive candidate you've got to have someone who can speak to some of these parts of America that voted for Obama NO eight and twelve and then went to trump in sixteen you had a midwesterner come into New Hampshire and do surprisingly well and that is a very strong message for her whether or not it carries her for we don't know she's not pulling as well as some of the others and about and South Carolina but she's got momentum on our side and that's at this point in the race that

DOJ won't pursue criminal charges against McCabe
"D. O. J. will not prosecute former FBI director Andrew McCabe deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe although he was acting director for a while McCabe of course a frequent target of the president's tweets and this as we learn the justices taking another look at the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and of course all eyes got wider jaws dropped yesterday to hear Attorney General bill Barr tell the president to stop tweeting about his department in light of the Roger stone case and how many years that presidential confidante may go to prison for well it's now checking with Washington post reporter Robert Costa who is also the moderator of Washington week great to have you back Bob thank you so much right to be with you well so much going on here let's start with Michael Flynn the the the store your paper has that been reported today what's going on here between this is the in this investigation you see Attorney General bill Barr in a stand off with president trump about the integrity and independence about the department justice not only to Roger stone case from earlier this week and his sentence scene that led bar to give an interview to ABC news but now you see the department is making its own decisions on moving forward did it look at general flow at the lieutenant general Flynn and whether he his case was properly prosecuted if the Attorney General doing his own thing taking his own initiative about bar still has an uncertain future as the classes with the president right this is the the new set of arguments between the president and I one of the people that works with him what about McCabe could that be a big gear into irritant for Donald Trump it is in president trump facing a lot of challenges right now and because at one level you have an Attorney General who is defended him throughout the Muller investigation you have an Attorney General as The Washington Post reports today has passed outside prosecutors in this is in the deputy Attorney General's office in Saint Louis to review handling the criminal case about former national security adviser Michael Flynn and others political figures two on one level he's very much a loyalist to president trump but the the DOJ's refusal to prosecute McCabe the sentence scene of Roger stone earlier in the week has infuriated the president and you see HIM lashing out in this post acquittal phase of his presidency all right let's switch gears to the democratic presidential race and of course New Hampshire primary just few were few days past that now it's on to Nevada and South Carolina what's going on here with the front runner Bernie Sanders said how strong of a front runner he is he at this point he's strong winning the New Hampshire primary is no joke but it was a narrow win over former south and mayor Pete booted judge they now heading to South Carolina which was a tough state for Sanders in twenty sixteen secretary Clinton came back after Sanders beat her in New Hampshire if she came back in South Carolina but Sanders has made a lot of ground with African American voters in the last four years what really matters is not just South Carolina and the Nevada caucuses but super Tuesday in early March fourteen states will vote a huge amount of delegates will be awarded Sanders looks perhaps strong it's in the California primary estate full of progressives and liberals and his campaign feels good about that and and that the the fact that they feel like they're in it for the long haul finals two seconds here to talk about Joe Biden not dead yet by far especially if he does well in South Carolina but if his campaign flames out cannot be attributed to president trump painting him not as a great statesman or as a long time senator but as hunter Biden's daft that could be part of the factor the impeachment and the wear and tear but don't count out the Bloomberg factor as well mayor Bloomberg has been hovering over the biting campaign for months and that's only escalated in recent weeks as Bloomberg has spent millions in advertising in early states and he's seen a poll numbers rising now black voters in moderate voters in the Democratic Party have another option a well funded option and that's been a big problem for biting Bob good to talk again thanks so much thank you Washington Post Robert Costa moderator of Washington week airs tonight at eight on TV
Moderate Democrats Stress Over Crowded Center Lane
"Democrats in search of a centrist nominee to challenge president trump are increasingly worried after contests in Iowa and New Hampshire consolidated liberal support behind Bernie Sanders and divided the larger moderate vote among multiple candidates we won the popular vote in Iowa we won the hi merry in the Hampshire all don't tell anybody keep a big secret but I think we'll get wet and give out as well last night on Telemundo meanwhile the parties the center lane is crowded with the rising people to judge along with any clover shar and Joe Biden looming in the March third super Tuesday states and beyond is Mike Bloomberg but we buy campaign spending that dwarfs all his opponents combined it's a story by Natalie Andrews reporter at the Wall Street journal Natalie what are you hearing we are watching Bernie Sanders do well in the primary elections and then hearing from Democrats who captains of the centers of moderate getting increasingly worried they sell like the reason why Democrats rebel take the house majority and win in many areas that trump also won was because they position themselves the centrists and so they're worried about having to campaign with someone they like Bernie Sanders rates are to set up a lot of vulnerable freshmen Democrats or texting anxiously what's this scenario that that that at least one of them was referenced they worry that Bernie Sanders who calls himself a democratic socialist they worry that that will lend themselves to attack that they're also socialist and that they're running the party has selected someone who enjoys that term versus many centrist Democrats that the entire time in Congress trying to distance themselves from the social Schirmer accusations that they're liberal or things like that they're trying to and it didn't the worry that bring her I tell you reference to there are concerns and this is with deep this would be looking way forward that at the top of the ticket potentially in a general election in November would be Mister Sanders very far ahead and there's only two condos but people get nervous so what can be done I think you would you said the didn't somebody called like a some consultant and said I'd away trying to casually back out of my endorsement of Mr Biden switch over yeah I know that people are calling their talking their political games one thing we have seen is that we've seen several house Democrats started back Bloomberg and they see a former mayor Bloomberg has really this solution who could to kind of get some Democrat collapse around them part of the problem with not having a centrist candidate win in the past to contest because there's quite a few candidates who are in the center lane it's not that there isn't just one that people can run too so you have keep your kids are Joe Biden and Mike Bloomberg and so that is part of the problem and now that we are seeing I've talked to several house Democrats who say they want to coalesce around the Bloomberg he is building an infrastructure that they really like and frankly I think some of them see if they can take out their position with someone who is trying to cast himself in the center that that might help them at the end up competing with someone else

Here's What Andrew Yang Is Saying in Iowa
"Joining us from Iowa this morning Andrew Yang Yang. Thank you for joining us this morning. Let me start where he just left left off with Buddha judge right there you got thirty seconds at the Super Bowl tonight to respond to president trump. What's your pitch? We're living in a country. There are seventy eight percent of us a living paycheck to paycheck. Almost half can afford an unexpected five hundred dollar bill too. Many Americans are being left behind in the twenty first century economy. We need to put gains of this economy directly into our hands into families hands around the country through a dividend of one thousand dollars a month. BE A game changer. For tens of millions of Americans Americans and get this economy working for us again not the big corporations that has been your signatures for signature proposal this whole way but right now You've been in a pretty consistent. Six place he's in Iowa never hit double digits in that state that kind of finish means no delegates out of Iowa after a big investment of time and money I think he spent the last seventeen days on a bus tour. Can you go on with the finish like that. Well we think we're going to surprise a lot of people on Monday night George. And we've you've got a ton of support in New Hampshire. I can't wait to take this vision to the rest of the country. Starting here in Iowa on Monday night. But we'll be in New Hampshire Nevada south South Carolina Super Tuesday. You know that the Yang Gang will be here the entire way. Okay well. The Yangjiang has been fairly strong throughout this process. But you know the Iowa caucuses because you know have a pretty unique voting. You're you're actually going to see four different results coming out of tomorrow night. The first round the second round after realignment and any candidate who doesn't get fifteen percent in a certain precinct your supporters have a chance then to go and back someone else on the second ballot. Where do you expect most of your supporters to go in those precincts? Thinks where you don't hit fifteen percent and are you going to encourage them towards a particular candidate. Well I plan to exceed fifteen percent in the vast majority Jordy of locations As to what are supporters might do if we don't reach that threshold in a particular place. We've very very diverse group of supporters. I can't speak for where they would head Do have a sense. That many of them have supported Bernie in the past but many of them supported president trump and they might just leave leave so there are a whole range of possibilities and I can't speak to the minds of literally thousands of Iowans and you're not going to give them any kind of direction or encouragement in that way. Well right now. We have no plans to do so Michael Bloomberg I. I talked to Mayor Pete about that as well. He started clips you in some of the states coming up And he's going to be for the debates. After New Hampshire. The DNC has changed the rules. They they've dropped that donor requirements. Something you've actually been pushing for for an awful long time So so that Mayor Bloomberg will be able to participate Bernie Sanders argues that. That's rigging the system for a billionaire. What's your response? It's so interesting George. Because the fact is Mike Bloomberg could have gotten himself on the debate stage anytime he wanted. It's pretty straightforward to meet the donor requirement. He could have just. I made that happen through online spending and so I'm not sure this is a development that he's going to welcome. Frankly I think the DNC looked at this and said we need to get Bloomberg gone to beat stage. This changes clearly tailor-made to deliver him to the debate stage and the question is whether this is a move that Mike's excited about or whether Mike Indifferent to or even negative towards excited about debating him. I'm excited I'm thrilled. I'll be back on the debate. Stage next week in New Hampshire and we plan. That'd be on the debate stage the entire way so I expect to see mic on the stage in Nevada the following. I think it's a week or two. Yeah we are going to see you Friday night and you let me ask you a question coming out of impeachment One of one of your competitors Elizabeth. Warren has said that she'll if she's elected president she's GonNa Point a task force to investigate president trump's wrongdoing. If she's he's elected you suggested that President Yang might part in president trump. Why well you have to see what the facts on the the ground are? And certainly I'd listen to the guidance of my attorney general but if you look George at History around the world. It's a very very nasty pattern on that. Developing countries have fallen into where a new president ends up throwing the President before them in jail and that pattern unfortunately makes it very hard for any party to govern Sustainably moving forward with a sense of unity among the people and so to me. America should try to avoid avoid that pattern if at all possible. Let me ask you a final question. You've been one of the most improbable candidates. This fish had a lot of success. You made it in on the debate stage stage so many times. Let me let me ask you. A question takes them truth serum did you start. He'd get this far. I genuinely did George because as I know that the American people realize our government has been decades behind and addressing these challenges that are growing stronger and stronger all the time.

"Failed mayor bloomberg at the time was really all about it and wall street cargo actually also passed a soda tax and it feels old after just two months see what i did their actual asked at from somebody's headline i did now that was not me being creative i in any case he ashikaga passes soda tax and not working at all so they're repealing it why aren't so look if you i i've had mixed feelings about the soda tax overall i never thought it was a great idea it feels really arbitrary to me i think when you talk about for example a tax on cigarettes the real goal of a tax on cigarettes is not to make more money for the government although that's certainly part of it it's to try to stop people from smoking because the cost to the country of the healthcare around smokers was excessive and grow the idea was try to get less people to smoke by putting his high tax on it we're not going to make it illegal you can still do it if you want to pay the money but it's going to cost a lot more but the real idea was to lessen smoking so the same thing as sensibly is true for these soda tax is right the idea is obesity is a problem one of the greatest causes not the only but one of is sugary drinks so if we tax soda which is they sugary drank we will attend a potentially stop people from drinking at and or lesson how much before drinking at and and help with the obesity problem but it's so arbitrary because well smoking is the only thing that is you know smoking and there are a lot of other sugary drinks besides soda first of all all the juices there are also sugary drinks all the many of the energy drinks are sugary and highcalory those not covered by the soda it i don't know what else i would think i don't think they're all covered it's not every drink that has sugar and like i know fruit juices not there yeah no sorry folks juicy juices really know that healthy even regular orange juice an apple juice those like juices you give your kids have a lot of.
