"For sensitive groups. So I read that the smoke Is filtering out the blue spectrum of light. Which is what makes the sky orange. Because the color of the sky is just a delusion. It happens to be the way our atmosphere bends the sunlight. And so if there's something in the atmosphere that changes thie Um, the angle of the Sun's rays. Then it will change color. So once the blue spectrum gets blocked, then you have orange. I don't know why that works that way. But that's that's what happens. We'll abort the fire situation coming up later on this hour. We're going to revisit with a listener. By the name of Sean Mill out a riverside who we spoke to some time ago. He's on the City Planning Commission, and there is a City Council member. He's been updating us on who was basically trying to get him removed be because he's a white male. And it seems to be. She thinks her job in city government is to rid local government of white people and even maybe more specifically white males, and she engages in all kinds of Hate speech on online. She has posted everything that Labor Day stands for is what Republicans and their white voter base eight fair wages, vacation benefits paid sick days. Healthcare equal pay for women unions, et cetera. S O. I. She's climbing that all white people in the Republican Party have those views because she liked the posting by a guy by the name Martin Ross white privilege and the fear of losing positions of power. We must elect diversity. Too many whites, especially white men, hold positions in government. That's right. This is the obsession that the identity public speak politics people have. So AH Shaun Mills says she's constantly disparaging whites. Especially with white males, and she thinks she's untouchable. Turns out she's a middle school counselor. Hell is she doing with the kids? Kind of propaganda? Is she feeding their little brains? Shot? Males? Riverside, gentlemen. What I remember talking with you. So a while back about this is she getting worse and more brazen. You know, Brazen. Bracing is in the word. She she thinks that she's untouchable. You know, she means I mean, the Labor Day Post is it's kind of Ah, that's kind of a regular kind of thing, You know? She goes after you know, thinks it's okay to say you know things about the white voter baits are or to say it's okay. You know, So like your comment that's had too many whites, you know, especially white man hold positions Government. She thinks that's okay. And she walks around. Very proud to do it while at the same time she's the one who put forth Ah, The measure in Riverside, declaring racism, a public health emergency in the city. Well, that's a case she's typhoid Mary because there's no bigger races in Riverside. They badly is anyone else giving her crap about all this? Mostly the community, her colleagues on the council with scary I know you guys have talked about Mayor Bailey in the past, and you know he's leaving office. He's a Miss Storin. Oh, he's a complete weasel. Were her mentor is the guy named Andy Melendrez, who's the leading candidate to become the next mayor? And he's not taking her to task. None of the other politicians in town take her to task later taking injured cast is the is the community and it's not just white people in the community that are upset. There's a hole that someone put up on social media asking should she resign or be recalled, And there's about, uh, about 1900. People said yes. And 200 said no of the 1900. Large portions that our folks in the Hispanic community, you know, it's not just white people that are sick of it. Um, you know, the community at large is disgusted by Gabby's racism because it river site is that you know, we were founded by an abolitionist university has been a very inclusive community. And we've always you know, gotten gotten along very well and dad become then whether hate in their division and, you know, just lights the fire on a daily basis. Obviously, if you took out the word white as you wrote to us and replace it with black If somebody was spouting Yeah, they be chased out of town. Maybe cover this up and down the city council. Are they an agreement with her or are afraid of her? They're afraid of her. Why? They're afraid of Because she has She has ah lot of support from organized labor, and they're afraid that the hate that she turns on folks like myself. They're afraid she's going to turn that hate on them. And you know, they don't want to face it. You know, I stood right up to her. I said, you know, off Toto over there. I'm not going to back down where? You know some people like the testicular fortitude to do that. That's really cowardly. All she spends her time on the Riverside City Council. We have so many issues that basically city and Gabby would rather be a cultural warrior and activists rather than focusing on dealing with the homeless situation that we have here in Riverside or dealing with budget crisis we have. She's more busy passing the ceremonial resolutions, you know, being a cultural warrior. And you know, not doing her job accounts. She doesn't answer her her constituents phone calls. She doesn't help the community. She's you know, And if you supported if you didn't support her in the election, you're really in trouble. She's not helping you with anything..

"On Monday when I was in for whites later I said listen I'm I'm gonna take on the role is to send a guy here on the station any time a man we're gonna give you an update on it and this week it's very important because your money your dollars that are supposed to be going to highway and roads aren't going to highway and roads their well being decided upon tomorrow at St dagen Rebecca Jones is on the board to sandbag she's one of the ones out there fighting for you and she joins us now Rebecca how are you. I'm great how are you miles I'm doing well this says a sandbag this gives me a headache and I can't imagine what it wanted to see you. members. yeah I would say a headache is docked at all he had a pretty nice way of putting it. was this very frustrating very frustrating when you look around at the end that board meeting and your family all the folks that are willingly willingly thinking about diverting funds that people voted for in trans that and putting those on something that is a brand new plan it is very shocking that there is a total lack of disconnect from the research it's very disappointing to say it is frustrating to because you know these types of projects these it road improvements these you know and we'll get into some of them here in a second but you know what they're talking about H. O. V. lanes on the five freeway as H. O. V. lanes on the seventy eight the fifty two as well these types of projects take a long time and take a lot of money and they should have been done ten years ago are at least started on ten years ago and here we are ten years later and there's nothing that's occurred what's the latest we talk Richard Bailey mayor of Coronado at ten AM you kind of broke down the nitty gritty what what what's the latest with sand and what are you guys doing as a group. well so you know if you if you look at the bank plan I mean I I look at the roads and I think okay yes we have to reduce our greenhouse gases but how are we going to move our guys around you know an important part of this whole conversation that doesn't get discussed on an on a regular basis which surprises me is the prosperity of our county and moving our guys around you can't move them all by rail we have such a small amount of capacity last on the north south rail which is north county transit bus we're going to be moving forward to buying new trains so that we have better action activity bar residents actually ride the train but what he how are you moving the cursor around and you know San Diego in itself but you know California overall as such a large amount of businesses that are doing well our agriculture we we provide so much food for the country if you're talking about what will happen in San Diego it really well and that mushrooming in my opinion throughout the state and so the economic prosperity of our our our state is is really really depends on getting track moving along and it's not just on the rail if it's got to be the rest of the fleet the tracks are not going to be on the rail but it's moving the good and the good we have a very large court we have the border with Mexico how are we going to move things around if we don't have those HOV lane and we don't we just stop what we said we were going to provide you the residents I I am very very concerned about the short sightedness a lot of the board members that are not looking at this they just listen to the brand new goal of this and I'm the director. has he even implemented anything that has been successful in in what he's talking about and where is he had now let's say my gosh it. it's just very concerning in my opinion that we are looking at such a small part of the picture and the picture is so much larger than what we're discussing it sandbagging I think that a lot of the board members really again are not thinking about the entire county as a whole and where that's our job when we go down sandbags we need to take off of our take up our city hat and put on a regional high and when we look at all the things that are being said and the complete lack of looking at other parts of the county because let's face it each county north county were left out of nearly everything and you know just one small fun fact I grew up in each county so Ramon an alcoholic I learned to drive on the highway on highway sixty seven. although that we're discussing it stand back it's for a dirt our margins the access road. so many more people than what we need for an access road and you know when we talk about public safety they need a real bad it needs to be V. or late. and I'm just I'm just absolutely shocked at the discussion and the information that the left out of those discussions when we're sitting there trying to make these very important decisions without any data and any studies that crew that what our director is hauling **** is even close to the truth. a dirt road. does your road. younger model we have a lot of those dirt right they're not ample to get people out in an emergency doesn't work it just doesn't work one is the mayor of San Marcos Rebecca Jones with us you know up in San Marcos I mean the seventy eight could be I would I would guess probably the worst freeway every day and this is something that you guys are talking about is just adding a H. O. V. lanes to it it's not like you're asking for you know some double decker yell bill yeah billions of dollars you just asking for H. O. V. lanes that correct. what yes and mild the important part is what we're asking for with this with this alternate plan there is an alternate on the floating round it was a presented by the chair which is Mehrabad and then also Merrimack the marathon as indeed and so if you look at what we're talking about we're talking about just the environmental because again you know making and you know bringing a project to a shovel ready the state is what we're talking about we're not even talking about building the darn roads we're talking about getting them ready so that we can apply brother fun and the fact that we're talking about all these other new shiny things when we voted we already voted to prioritize these critical highway projects and then what was presented to you last night I discussed this yesterday is that we were presented in August and I think it was you know one on one but it happened to be mayor Daley and supervisor does men and myself were sitting in there and our director gives us this new client and I said this is not what we voted on in our last meeting in July this is no where near what we're talking about you so well this is what I took away from that and I was thinking listen you're the director. you work for I and that is not the direction that you were given and I think the total lack of. even the foresight of seeing that you can make your board happy because we are. I can only we're eighteen cities across the county with a lot of voices that the cable they're trying to look at the big picture again like I like I talked about if the network it's not one road it's not true road if the entire network and how they all fit together and you can't leave parts of it out because then it doesn't work properly so when you know when he says well this is what I I I heard I said that is completely not the discussion and I'm thinking to myself are you in a different meeting because that's not what I. and you know it and are you there were three voices at that table mayor Bailey didn't see that as what we had the staff and neither had your provider does men and so when you have a total lack of honestly it felt. he. I went in my opinion well this is what I want so I'm going to make this happen yeah the problem wait you you work for and that the board and the board works for the county for every single resident yeah we had in the county we all have to have our voices heard and we need to make sure we have a balanced transportation system because really I think our economic prosperity it really is is is relying on a week we can't just have one thing we have to have all and by the way most people don't know that actually drive an electric vehicle I think you know my little smart small part that I can do you know for greenhouse gas emissions I think it's important that we put in all the infrastructure and that is part of the plan it's in our region wide program and we're going to be spending about one and a half million dollars a year to to work on building that but again it's gonna be all of it you can't just cut out different parts of it at will and say that okay well this is the balanced plan because it's not we all have to do our part queue make sure that we are moving around in the most efficient manner but it's really going to be at all working together yeah that's a shame too and I mean I know I know it's politics right now but it seems like he goes in personal things are getting in the way of the good of town at the county of San Diego which like I said isn't anything new in politics quickly Rebecca last question for you how how will tomorrow go at nine AM Sendek building what will happen with the six hundred million dollars on the line. well that would be a very interesting question and you know back to what you just said about politics that shouldn't be about politics they should they should really be a vote to serve our citizens and you know I have worked very very hard to keep the partisan politics out of my city and then also when I'm at sand bag I try not to bi partisan or divisive or any of that this is the time for us to come together because our county really relies on it and if we are not going to put our county for residents this is this is hard it really upsets me it's our residents that we are there to serve and that's why we're lasted each person that voted for me I want them to be proud of what I've done and what hives served them but I also want the county and I I've been getting a lot of email since yesterday our people the same thank you for fighting the fight and thank you for I think our boy wait. and that is what we really need to remember each one of us walking into that meeting tomorrow we're here to be a voice for our entire county not one single part of our our our county just not one single segment but all of that it train riders in bus riders and it's also car drivers and our bicycle we've got to look at everyone and it's got to be balanced and it's gonna be balanced on who's writing what and you know just real quick we we've been talking about putting in this big bold vision and and installing this and it's going to Sir. her son of our county ten percent..

"That they tried to suppress back in two thousand remember the military ballots that hadn't been counted on every vote to count same kind of thing that the democrat challenger saying in Florida, it's democracy to want every vote counted their county are revoked the problem is when you say, look, we found some more votes. It's so predictable. They did that's why we got Senator Al Franken back in the day. I found some under the car seat. That's almost literally what happened. Mr. Obama's point that was only last weekend when he was out there with all those wicked. A week ago today. Yeah. Threat less ready. Feels like three months. But if it was a political stunt to secure the border, the election's over except for whether accounting but everybody, but it's count every vote even if they're from dead people, let's count. Anyway, said Al Gore back in the day. But now we have troops that have been deployed from Camp Pendleton, and and Texas and a reporter for their first day of work yesterday. On the border with Mexico here in San Diego. So that was a stunt. First of all the caravan, even though it's diminishing in numbers because some of the people in the caravan are saying L, stay in Mexico in Mexico is very stringent requirements probably beyond ours. But it still is something you mobilize and in nation has a right to do. But was really saying they're in that rally a week ago? Today was hey, it's just a political stunt. Okay. The election. Since Tuesday night. The security issue is still there. How soon they forget. AM seven sixty talk and breaking news. Keep an eye on all the fires up there evacuations going on in Malibu expanded those with the whole city the whole town of Malibu in the last hour, or so, and that is a messy in the fire continues toward the ocean northern California fire wiped out about that whole town paradise. Just just nonstop. And this was just the first of the Santa Ana Santa Ana patterns, and the dryness, of course, we have the the drought and so forth going on around the state. So we have to be careful that we are monitoring all of that we talked about the the stories of heroes in the massacre Thousand Oaks at the bar the other night. Teri Figueroa and some other writers at the union hyphen tribute have a good piece today on on this. And it's talking about a rally they had with the mayor Bailey Balian Coronado last night. Because one of those killed was Twenty-three-year-old. Justin meek, you heard a little bit of this the top of the hour. He died trying to save others again. Desperate intense times bring the inner hero out of so many. And usually out of more people than we know about. They don't exactly advertise it sometimes they don't make it out like Justin meek. But reports are hey, he was he was working to save people. He was trying to save other is a two thousand fourteen graduated Coronado high school. He was at the bar with his younger sister. They're both working as promoters notes, the UT when the shooting started, according to his mother, and we got more of a picture that talking to one of the survivors Tyson Spady who was on my show yesterday. They happens in blink of an eye. It doesn't fire situations to where heroes show up when somebody has nowhere to go except into wall of fire. And yet you find out that people just said I'm going to give this a shot best. I can't try this best. I can to step up and not think about I'm going to be a hero. But just do what you're supposed to do in those situations. So Justin meek was one of the. Was one of the twelve people killed by this former marine. And did we get TMZ said something about, Dan? I don't know if you saw that about how I guess this this perpetrator who, of course, ended up dead was he posting on Instagram or something like that. Just gets creepy creepy. And apparently he was a regular on the bar too. And of course, it was a soft target. He knew that if he's a regular in the bar. He knew that. There was no armed security there. Why because we heard it yesterday. Well, you know Thousand Oaks third safest city in the country. We don't it doesn't happen here. So according to the UTP, Laura meek. The mother of Justin meek who died and Laura meek and her daughter escaped without physical harm. In Coronado notes. The story people who learned me at the bar gathered for prayer circle, midway through they learned that he had died and that that happened. Some other cases to where people were waiting yesterday for information on missing loved ones. So they have this rally last night, and it was inspiring. They had several hundred people there. Park at Coronado and Meeks friend. Patricia Fernandez started the vigil with a very slow heartfelt version of Elvis Presley's. I can't help falling in love. And ended with a very anguished version notes the union Tribune of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. So. A fitting tribute. All right. So that that was where the people showed up last night. I'll tell you where they didn't show up because I haven't found any evidence remember yesterday. We were talking about this spontaneous rapid response rally like nine hundred rallies are going to happen across America because they were so incensed with Jeff Sessions being basically fired by Donald Trump is attorney general. There will be four big rallies resist rallies. The suit what they'd like six or seven people are the people who are really thinking it through and new or the important things were happening went to Coronado for that vigil to honor. Twenty-three-year-old? Justin meek who everybody said was trying to save people in the middle of that. Bear Richard Bailey and Coronado said meek loved everyone he came in contact with. So deeply what little spare time he had? He was a lifeguard there in Coronado looking out for others. And there was a theme that continued all the way to his last moments alive. One of the most recent photos notes, the peace posted just five days ago was meek and his father who's wearing a navy dress. Uniform standing in front of an American flag. Caption says congrats on your last change of command dad now, it's time for retirement. I guess his dad was changed commanders like this weekend. Tune. Bad things happen to good people. Sometimes good people still do things in the middle of the litter the line of fire, and and those are the stories to champion..

"What some pro athletes do this there you go yeah so so he not only only now he's getting a raise on his salary right he asked for a raise but they ended up getting three percent each year which effectively with a seven year contract i think that's a precedent in the state of california that have a city manager on a seven year contract three percent increase of the salary each year plus this mortgage six hundred seventy five thousand dollar mortgage or basically a refi of his his home that's valued at nine hundred thousand dollars was troubling as well as a bonus that there's a forty four thousand cash out two hundred forty hours of vacation time that he could cash out and he did and that equated to forty four thousand dollar bonus signing per se in the middle of his contract somebody trying to hire him away do you know anything or he said no and public i asked him that question at the meeting at the hearing and he said no but and then the quote was in the paper about him begging for for more and where he came from and his experiences and and and that responded the power to veto it yeah that's what we're gonna talk about we come back mayor bailey said that's the crux of this and we're talking to mayor rusty bailey from riverside who is actually taking legal action requesting superior court judge to uphold his veto of what he says excessive contract extension given to the city manager of riverside john russo last month we'll talk about all this the city council voted five to two this pay.

"And a year salary for severance pay if terminated this is for a city manager if you don't know what the city manager does he's like the chief business executive that runs the business of the city it's not a political office according to transparent california in two thousand sixteen the state's highest paid city manager was san jose's nor nor burto dwayne us who has since retired he made about four hundred ninety two thousand and pay and benefits the next up with david cavazos who was the former city manager in santa ana i remember this guy who received four hundred and sixty six thousand so you can see this input roussel right there near the top in city manager pay in the state of california rests rusty bailey the mayor thinks the tax payers are getting ripped off in city riverside and we thought we'd have mine because he's he's vetoed this but there's a dispute as to whether he has the legal authority to veto it we'll get rusty on here rusty how are you thought about doing manager with that kind of pay that's that's that's pretty good pay how do we do we get him on a better phone line so we're gonna work on sorry rusty we have yeah it's just a very bad connection so we can do to improve it just put a mayor bailey on hold i but i like the way started off you guys interested in being a city manager because i think he said and i was gonna ask him this first then he thinks john musso is a good guy he's not questioning john russo's competence he just thinks it's too much tax money for this position so why is this guy getting it you want to read the quote now i want to read the quote while we have a moment dry john russo telling the city council john russo told the city council that he thought the new agreement was reasonable of course he would and then he says i'm sorry that at fifty nine years old sitting here as the child of immigrants with a scholarship yale degree and a top ten law school that i have to beg you to do.
