"Also, we don't know going back to the security they could. Well, it sounds like they did offer in the highest paid contract for quarterback. But is that one of those where you cut him after a year? You caught him after two like there is part of the technicalities where maybe they're offering. Hey, look, We're given this big deal, but really, you know, when you actually look at the meat of the contract, it's Yeah, it's how much guaranteed money is right a year or two, and then we'll get rid of you and still keep Jordan love on schedule. Still can't believe Mark Murphy here. Aaron Rodgers is a complicated fellow. I know he's relaying a story that was told from Ted Thompson all that, okay? And then the situation we face with Aaron Rodgers has divided our fan base. What is the point? Of saying that stuff that really Gets me out of loss for words. When you have such a public issue. And an Rogers is saying nothing, and Rogers did a national interview with Kenny Mayne and said nothing. He's just going to the Kentucky Derby, saying nothing. He's going on vacation in Hawaii, saying nothing. He's going on jeopardy, saying nothing about the Packers. Any time. Matt LaFleur speaks. We want Erin back anytime. Brian Goodykoontz speaks. We want Erin back. Mark Murphy has the audacity In situations where he gets to control the narrative. I think what was that a fan event? And the other Was responding on the team website, and I think it's a monthly chat that he does. Someone read those comments over and still thought it was a good idea to publish them. Talking about Aaron Rodgers divided the fan base when the question wasn't even about Aaron Rodgers. And now you're going to say, Oh, Aaron Rodgers, a complicated Philip. I'm Aaron Rodgers, who I do actually think will return to the Green Bay Packers this year. Let's just say his date was I don't know. July 20th. I just pushed it back another week. Let Mark Murphy let Brian go to Coon sweat a little bit. It shows you though in Green Bay. I think this is more split than we ever thought. I think there's a lot of fans that are saying we need Erin back, and there's a lot of fans saying He's not grateful. Get him out. And if you're part of the The second part. Be careful what you wish for. Not every fan base gets to go from Brentford to Aaron Rodgers. Usually the third quarterback. It's so rare to have back to back quarterbacks like that Hall of Fame Super Bowl winners. It's very rare. The third quarterback should be great. Aaron, Please end this. Please give us a final answer. Need a final answer from an Rogers and what's going to happen because I don't want to sit here for the next two months. When you have Training, Kampen All that stuff going on. I don't need to analyze. Every single throw that Jordan love makes. We already saw it last week. You have a little mini camp one day. Jordan loves great. He's the future. The next thing he sucks. What the heck of the Packers going to be doing, Aaron? Pretty pretty pretty. Please just give me a.

"That this relationship is to four going in this old. I think there's a lot there that you're saying much of which makes perfect sense to me. Graziano what do you think yeah. Look i think it's the wrong thing to say right even though it might be accurate if it's going to be the last straw than i think mark murphy is gonna wish he said something a little stronger right like this is this is all. It's gonna take that. He might get it. Because i'm sure he's saying worse things about earn rogers and private right now. Then he's a complicated fellas. So look i think both sides. I think rogers in his interview with kenny mayne a few weeks ago and murphy and his public comments the last couple of weeks have been very cognizant of wanting to make sure the fan base is on their side. Rodgers has been very careful talking about You know treat people the right way it's about culture et cetera et cetera. Stuff that will resonate with the fan base packers in a position where their preference would be for everyone to know that. It's rogers is deciding to stay away. So i i don't think it's one hundred percent and accident I don't think it's the worst thing anybody's ever said about a player And i don't think it obviously helps but yeah. I agree with that. Organization's been pretty good about. Here's where i would push back on that. Which is we all understand where we are in this moment and that is to say everyone knows. Aaron rodgers.

Yeah, that qualifies as a long fly ball Avisail Garcia with his 13th home run of the season, helping the Brewers to a five to win in a sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Everybody's doing their par, everybody working so hard to going through the country, but we We want to win. We want to make the playoffs. So you know, uh, you know, it's a lot. In your Column that the left said publicly the better and then you can't stop talking Jean. I don't know what to do with this guy anymore. It's just it's not helping. It's not helping the situation in any way by saying what he said Murphy becoming a story for all the wrong reasons in Green Bay. Meanwhile, Rogers hasn't said anything since his a chat on ESPN with two weeks ago, three weeks ago tonight, and even that wasn't much. You know what I mean? That that wasn't that was interactive was more doing a solid to his buddy Kenny Mayne and then wanting to come out and publicly. Say anything. Really. We have not actually heard from Rogers about the situation at all. The last time he publicly spoke, so to speak outside of doing a solid Kenny Mayne was after the NFC Championship. "Their incredible often unheard stories as they liked the way for women around the world celebrate women athletes. Who don't receive media attention. They deserve which of course is problematic. Because representation matters a lack of representation makes it near impossible for younger girls to see their future selves in someone who doesn't exist today. We all need hope and inspiration now more than ever learn lessons in grit and ambition from these elite athletes. Listened to flame bears on apple podcasts. Spotify or wherever you get your podcast. What's weird about this. Now is just sitting in zoom chat alone Doing an android and closing this podcast. So just a big old picture of my face staring at me Huge thanks to kenny. Mayne who is You know he's exactly who he is tv. Which is very refreshing And he's kind. And i appreciate that about him very much. We're going to miss him at this company. I know many people who work here echo my sentiments as he probably mentioned all of them by name in that interview but yet still found the time to give me way more of his time than i probably deserved. So i know he's been on the podcast circuit. Maybe he's told these stories and they're not new. But i know like i was saying at the beginning of the podcast. I apologize to those of you. That are not necessarily die. Hard sports fans that love this podcast. I wasn't thinking when i just wasn't introducing my guests but it makes perfect sense for to give you the thought process whenever i listen to an interview and they give a big long always just feels like reading information that i either know or could find on wikipedia. Some just like yeah. I don't need his credits. I wanna know about the person but you're absolutely right if somebody is then you got. It's hard to put it on contacts. I'm going to try to remember to do that. But you know telling you guys who kenny mayne was while kenny mainstay at me not knowing my most comfortable moments in the career but hopefully you got a sense of you know who he is in the sports world in an over the course of what an hour and a half figured out who he is as guy his cool guy. He's a whole he's very funny. He's very funny and And did that in sports in you know anybody who can pull that off has a special place in my heart. I dunno record books because it's it's tough gag. It's a tough gig and not all of us can pull it off so shot kenny. Mayne who is wonderful. Xiao to you guys. That's it for this week's second edition of sports shot at the flame bearers and showed it to the right time with bomani jones. You know the deal just in case you missed it. We won't vote accumbens park to support him. And that sounds travis wrote that and he's right but i also feel like i wouldn't wouldn't tell you to listen to bose podcast if it wasn't a podcast listening to maybe i would because i have to say at the end here but I think i've been pretty open in my support of bomani jones. And he's got a good podcast in the guy knows how to talk and it's interesting and you'll learn something. New favorite thing about bo is that his perspective is difficult to predict. Not that he's inconsistent. It's that he's he you can tell. He thinks individually about things he talks about. I appreciate that. Thank you very thoughtful so anyway listen to the right time with bomani jones for all those reasons or just because you feel like you have to. I've already thank you for listening. I think but thank you again. It means the world to me anytime you guys write. Something nice about these thursday podcasts. Boy does it. Fill my heart at a time. When it's you know running a little low on gas so thank you. I appreciate you. It means a lot to me. Travis's in here today went solo on this one. So a tee shot him. Who's going to have to edit this later with a huge note for me. That's gonna say. Don't edit it so his own. Can you to call me a liar. or you can always leave us a nice review wherever you're listening to this podcast. Which by the way we read and we love them like this one from l. h. Eight three five. That says i love note. Loved the live debrief. After angels interview added to the pod in thinking should stay love. You mean it. That's great because here. We are in the second one. I like it to the weird thing is sometimes you've got sometimes they've questions when you're done they're like when's this gonna run. Do you want me to tweet about it. But i think you know my goal is. I've started doing the intros with the guest there and with pablo. I think i did. The ad reads. That was really fun. That's the ideal is to hit record when they show up heap it on book the whole time. And then when they leave debrief after it. I think it. It requires me to build a trust a level of trust and enough people to know what they're signing up for when they do this podcast so that they don't come in you know bringing energy of other things and they don't they don't want us 'cause last thing i want is for somebody to feel like they have to censor themselves. The whole goal of this is to get people to openly talk about literally anything that's on their mind and figure out who they are as people over staying welcome Lastly don't forget that you can always leave us. A voicemail field still feels weird at eight six five six five hundred seventy one. Goodbye travis. Say goodbye christina. guys. I really love you.

And i know who he is definitely on my elevator going the wrong way. We'll look here's the thing. I'm not gonna let you drop a guy's name. That's that's an unfair namedrop. If you drop the name that you never even recognized it somebody else gave you that name. She can't drop. I keep getting phone calls from the people who are involved in athens or not but all right well then let me let you go. The i'll ask you one more question long ways away it's money asked. Let me ask you one more question and then you can go answer all these phone questions. Three rumor questions. Are i walk. Okay i one what This is very like yearbook end of the year question. But what are you gonna miss genuinely. What are you gonna miss the most the people jay but true like we all complain about the late nights and the show. Like you know the stuff you try the thing you tried to get to do then you want to do something else sometimes right. That's just kind of the way. Or but noah everybody gets along we have fun. We throw around some nights as stupid. Were in the newsroom. There's only like six seven of us. Whatever and we just do random baseball trivia quizzes or just. It's stupid but it's fun. You know john totten one of the senior producers. He's like an encyclopedia of all this sons. All google what. It is and yellow just to pretend like i'm not going to get these answers. I can better tell you the The roster of the nineteen sixty nine seattle pilots than the mariners. Today probably like your stuff from your childhood in you touch points for sure. I'm going gonna stay in the area one so it just means. I'm not doing sports. Centres after may twenty fourth. It's kinda feel weird title know. It already feels weird because we announced it on may tenth and here we are pretending. It's thursday may where we're not pretending anymore. We've stop pretending right tuesday and that's right. I got done a day early. I finished something way before the deadline. Please be proud of making night. I'm working wednesday night now. It's thursday as you hear. This and i work saturday and monday so definitely. I'm kind of counting down. Like i know that. I have for than three. Two and I'd say wednesday would be the one that gets off the rails because we know we're up against lakers golden state Limit game but the thing is even if you say get a little silly bucci gross. We often i mean with a lot of them but bucci somehow brings out my most silliness or the best of my and but yet we still bottom. Is we still care. Always get it right. Say the names right get. The scores gives us out. You know. that's what's the old first. Do no harm right that's always paramount. And into doing of it you try to make it fun because if it's not fun it's kinda pointless when people can just look at their phone onoda the game anyway right. Yeah you can get the information anywhere so hopefully there are still a good amount of people and i think there are like. I'm starting go there earlier. And that's what i forgotten. That just came back to me because the question like marty smith a good friend of mine just announced that he was it was announced that he's coming back and doing his thing marty's great so talented and he's so funny and smart and he's connected all over and again and right now. I saw people like knocking him to defend me. You know killed me because a he's very good at what he does and we have nothing to do with each other as far as the play. I mean you know our deals yet is for a certain reason mine was something else him staying or not staying me staying in uh having the money was it wasn't the same pot of money on it to be related knowing that bothers me because it hurts. You know i didn't ever want him. I matured. He's smarter. And but i'm sure some jerusalem by yourself even if the guy's nadya and has four followers and you can see his line of thinking otherwise you know or usually it's a he easily me. I don't engage onto a. I think my engagements were is almost always complimentary or fun or adding to a joke. Or whatever occasionally. I've done the many battle. But it's usually to clarify like what i meant was. I don't like to read just crush. Somebody i used to. It used to be fun because it was like. Don't come at me. I'll dunk on you but now it's just like i've said this before but my my approach to social media now is just assume everyone's ribbing you even the things that they say just assume that they think they're your friend and they're giving you a hard time while treat it with humor and it uses the situation or just absolutely ignored idaho knowing it's twenty. I hope people aren't offended and lease that. I didn't like like or reply and like i don't have time then barely they're all as be as we take this and i'm not running off. It's six thirty eastern on tuesday. I'm on i think at eleven or amman at one. I don't know what show him on. get there at eight o'clock. I'll be fine for whichever show it is. I think i'm like fifty feet away like a good a good distance away as a lot of people in between us and like how do they know who i am like. I'm in my head. I'm like there's no way. He waved five times big smile. I start walking toward stevie wonder's tent urge trailer. Don cheadle walks by me on cheadle the whole time. It wasn't you. I mean you didn't look behind you to see if there was somebody more famous than you can either teams like step one in those situations. I blew it. So i'm embarrassed. She looks at me and smiled. Like he giggles. He saw what happened right. Yeah so i stay in a stay in the game. I get to stevie. I can't remember for sure. I should remember whether it's milton. Hardaway has his brother or another person or a couple of people i pitched. Hey here's a from espn blah blah and said. We're not saying yes. We're not saying no. If you stand right there they point to where. I gotta be right. After he's off the opposite nine fifteen. Or whatever tunnel. Was you pitch him. We'll bring them to you. Get your one shot. Tell them what you're trying to do. Good enough for me right. I go to my standing spot. After he's all done and bt happens to be there but their cameras were some drawing their camera. I'm where they already had a deal to talk to stevie and is like you can borrow my camera guy paying for so bt goes i. they do. they're nice little interview for few minutes. Then somebody says oh the guy from espn wants to ask you a question and break down. Stephen i'm a huge fan and stumbling nervous now This is about how well it went right. I'm like dying trying to get out so anyway. I'm doing this kind of comedy bit. The baseball all star game detroit. You're from saginaw. I'm making the connection. Would you do one line one line. Only right he says. Well what is it. I said i need you to say i can't be at the baseball. All star game. I have a high ankle sprain. He laughed he. Did it in one. Take yes i said. You're the best. Thank you sir. He starts to walk away. No problem he says and i say when's the album coming out and he turns back and goes soon and low and that folks story of kenny mayne and stevie wonder letting bad it's not that but i in my head and mike definitely told it before one hundred thousand times. Yeah exactly wouldn't man. I don't know was that was what go my boss is called so i mean sure. What is your boss will have several. So years later took my daughters and my sister in los angeles. Dvd's reboot of What was it was basically like honoring the one of the great albums of all time songs in the key life and he did a concert tour where he just played songs. Start to finish the songs in the key. Life right legal. John mayer played with them. India renews crazy. Good and i got to go backstage. Because i know latonya his assistant and you know got my daughter's a picture with them and i'd already met him but it was cool to meet him once more. You know hey thanks again. Great appreciate your stock and it. There's an aura about him. That's different than being around any other human being ever been around. There's really nothing that compares. And i love his music and what he's meant kind of like in my life like and in fact. I don't read as well as him but i think from him is has improved my writing the way he kinda in verts words. I'd have to google alert Should have an off memory. But he'll say say something you get but he says it upside down or sort of right in the back in the front in the front and the back if that makes sense to be inspired by the way somebody writes i remember. Letterman was how i got into like paying attention to how some words can be funnier than other words just by them out it immediately. Make something. Funnier get what you're saying. Yeah letterman was. A huge is a huge racing guy. Right I used to do the car racing show at. Espn two called rpm tonight. I knew nothing nothing. I didn't know. I don't still know how car works. Shore there as long as it works. Somebody else can. That's their issue right. How long did you do this. Show for a couple years those before i got asked to be on with dan patrick to replace olbermann. You know onsite so they bobby called me. What do you know about car. Racing like nothing. Okay you're the host and like what. What did the other people say. What was the point of asking. What's possible say. That could have lost them the job but the funny thing is i grew to really appreciate it and like it. I'm friends junior. And jeff gordon and got to be dale seniors. One five hundred win or got to go on. His boat have dinner. I thought was a prank. Because back in that same time period like little like a month or two before i interviewed letterman about love of car racing and he on. He was super nice. We changed tapes. Five time is backing us videotapes. And i mean he's just still racist and he loves the sport as soon as from indiana right and so we're packing the gear afterward. We're all done and ninety minute interview. And we're on the street just about to leave and letterman happens to his car gets pulled up and he pops out jumping in. He says he can do want to go to dinner and busy now. Look like i'm going to my right back like they're out. I'm not taking my friends. This camera guy. And i took a step towards lee. I'm with you and he gets but it's fun it's not. It's so no. I got no problem with the joke is a great joke. It's a joke. It's like telling the guy to run long. Don't throw the ball.
"mayne" Discussed on Sports Media with Richard Deitsch
"For today's purposes is on with meet talk about Kenny mayne leaving. Espn and i am I'm happy to be joined by. Jim miller today. Jim how are you good. Thanks to me all right. So let's start here You saw the news. Obviously that kenny mayne is leaving. Espn and while seeing people leave espn. These days is not surprising at all. Given all the departures that both of us have seen in the last three to five years. What was interesting here. I mean there's a lot of things interesting. here is one kenny. Mayne is a very quirky unique talent to just one of the rare talents. Jim is you know who had a very very big connection with the sales department is one of the most famous sort of upfront speakers at espn had. And when i say upfront. I mean kenny. Mayne with somebody who when he spn was selling its programming to media would be one of the key players during those presentations and probably the best performer. I would say during those upfront. And then lastly the fact that espn and norby williamson ask. Kenny may take sixty one percent. Pay-cut i think we'll be surprising. News to people out there jim. So that's sort of where we start and this is just very writ large. What were your thoughts when you saw kenny main post that he was leaving espn well. I immediately tweeted. Cancel the upfront. Because as you just mentioned he's inextricably linked with with your friends and was often the best part of it and was It was a perfect platform for his quirky. Sardonic bri behavior and He was always a success. But i think that you know for those of us who were watching. Espn in the nineties. He was also a singular talent. He always had a particular particularly like vantage point on something with a little bit of a twist sensibilities that were different than than than others. And i think that his credit they always gave him the opportunity to showcase them he had a couple old enterprise shows that he had done and i think some of them actually Mean main street. And i think some of them were highly inventive and even though they may not have survived. I think that they were certainly noble efforts and It was it was sad it was it was sad to city. I mean look we got. We got spoiled. I think particularly in the nineties. And you know i first decade of the century which is that. Espn used to be this gigantic buffet and they had enough money coming in. When you have eleven or twelve billion dollars revenue coming in every year you get to do a lot of different things. And it was fantastic. To be steve bornstein and george bodenheimer and john skipper and be able to sign all these people. And even though you didn't have you know they weren't going to be doing the lion. Share the work or they weren't going to be carrying a heavy load as as some others. It was all these different kinds of personalities different reporters different skill. Sets and kenny was one of them and geneva. Taro doesn't have that kind of flexibility. Those those days are gone. And i think that they have. They're in a situation now where they have to do. A lot of a lot of triage financially I don't think you and i agree on a lot of their choices from time to time. But it's clear that they are making choices and when you see people like trey wingo and well. I mean look. The list is locked in. The list is long for people in front of the camera. And also i think about the terrific journalists and reporters. Who the you know viewers don't watch but they they know that and they should know their names from their bylines and You know they're they're reporting work in a lot of those people have gone to so it's just a totally different age for you to stand so hot. Listen i mean in every single business. Ultimately management makes decisions as to who they like or don't like or who they want and don't want and so there's no doubt that the espn of twenty twenty one is a different place than espn of two thousand or two. Or even you know the skipper era. Whatever two thousand nine so you know. I mean if you're going to be fair and the salary structure is going to be different because we're in a different world. I mean you know for chrissakes. Where in the middle of a pandemic in revenues are down. but and. here's my sort of but here jim from your experience and obviously from writing the book that you wrote there is a calculus and a decision ultimately made right like someone makes a decision that mike greenberg is worth these millions and millions of dollars. Someone makes a decision. That stephen a smith is worth these millions and millions of dollars. Someone makes a decision that chris. Berman should be reassigned to this dollar figure and then conversely someone makes a decision. That kenny mayne is worth only this so i agree with everything you're saying but my my sort of thing with espn has always been like. There's always money if they like you. There's always money to sign a property if they want it so like i think there are financial challenges for jimmy carter. I don't discount that at all. But i my only counter would be that when they want someone or something. There's always money at disney. I think that's true. But i also think that's true of any other sports entity or for that matter any other network You you know. I mean there. There's always that time where you know like a shows going into six or seven season and all of a sudden the salaries for the stars they're going to be you know have to be doubled or something and the network makes a decision you know. We're we're not gonna spend that money. I don't think that part has changed. Although i do think that wanted things that we've been able to see in terms of how. Espn makes a decision. They'd rather go big with stephen a smith. Then have you know. Probably eight or nine other people. As as for that money they rather spend the money on greenie. They spend the money on right thompson. They'd rather spend the money and by the way. That's that's their decision. I mean those people who are in those jobs they they get to make those decisions you know. I was talk. I mean somebody else might have different. I might not like it. But it's their decision. I never would disagree with that for sure. And very by the way. They've been very clear. I mean this is the old Deep throat follow the money Yes i mean. They've been very competitive and they stepped up to the plate. Big time to stephen. A smith deal was humongous. You magas and greedy has a big deal and you know all these people that we're talking about are are not getting paid in significant sums and in some cases they were bidding against other networks and they stepped up to the plate. So you're really seeing now..

"Can you main all right so your arm. I have to bring this up you. You have played quarterback you played it. Unlv ahead of randall. Cunningham in the depth chart on got right. Good yup How far can you throw. A football at your heyday. Like seventy five. Maybe what seventy five through random. Through like eighty-five yeah. I know he played in the nfl. He was incredible. I got a lot. Yeah i mean that was all out. That was running up dropping back and stepping up. You know you'd be in the sixties or something when you needed it. But now i wasn't good arm but i was probably the chaos you see on some of my shows didn't transfer to being a quarterback anything to came in as a walk on originally so i was always trying to show out and you know go for the home run too many times if i just handed the ball to michael morton And ray crouse and those guys you know leon walker. I would have been better ressam. King who played ahead of me in my senior led the nation in passing yards. So it wasn't like i was explaining gets pretty guy trying going to be about. He ended up having a free agent deal seattle and he was turning it down to go elsewhere and my coach said hey. If you like. Sam you should look at kenny. And i went on my tryout. Steve largent happened to be in the building that day and he comes out. He's running routes from me. I'm like all right. We're doing okay now can it. Anyway he's going to catch so ended up signing. But i failed the physical because i had ruined my ankle my junior year and that was about that for i played like a semi pro league for a couple. Couple of games kept trying. Usfl tryouts or canada. And now i'm twenty five working as a gofer at a tv station. It was time to. Yeah they kind of told me it was time because like how much do in call through like ninety passes in two years and i have a ruined ankle anyway. I'd love to try for your team. Like i didn't have a lot of cells these people. So how far can you throw a football now. I mean i could hit sixty. That's pretty good. That's for real. I saw you through through fastball. You the first pitch for mariners game and you got what sixty eight. Yeah i got to seventy two the next year. That's you still got a cannon. You gotta goal was but it's funny. That sounds so lame in the seventies when these major guys are one hundred and plus. It's hard to throw a strike. And plus i've been training to be a pitcher for forty years but I thought i could just do it on willpower. And it's hard just getting to seventy is everything you got. Yeah i mean former seventy five. In fact i pitched the thing the mariner's yesterday because With our foundation were Awarding what's the best word recipients. They are recipients of alexei. Were gifting emanate earned. It right they. They injured their legs at war. Whatever we're helping veterans get back pain free life style. This brace i have is in santa. Just play golf with. I can hike a complete. like football. run sprints and this guy in gig harbor washington makes it name ryan blank. And he invented it for the benefit of veterans right. So when i got mine. I like cried for three. I couldn't believe my gift. Like i can run again like this crazy. No pain you know because my ankles sucks. it's doesn't work but with his brace. I can do anything. I want right. Not very fast but can do it so we started a foundation called run freely if they want to donate its run freely dot. Org org and i don't know how many men and women we've been able to. I think were high twenty s at this point in about three years maybe thirty But some stories are just crazy. Like you know you're crying reading the letter back there. So thankful and so humble about it and i want to help other people now and we got people back working. We've got some who went back in the military but most of them just want to have a nice day not be in pain and it does it form. It's amazing so sim that's awesome. I'm gonna check it out. Everyone should go check it out. We'll put it in the bio of the podcast for tomorrow If had if someone said you like hey. Kenny take now today today. You're right when people are listening. That's a fix though sportscenter. We fix anything we. We don't fix anything it is. We're on right now. We're we are wherever you are. Life is live coming alive. Why don't you just below. It is life if you're listening to right now you're listening to it low you're living. We're not live but when you're listening to this moment right. This second is listening to this moment in their car. On friday morning going to work it is live for them. Okay because it's the first time it's ever happened. That's life life is live you're experiencing it all but live is always better than pro tv each kinney where we are as we're on demand ato whenever somebody wants us to like clicks. You get your phone. You push a button and i'm there in your car with you. Yeah i got you. You'll learn all this stuff. You're to see young guy out there trying trying to find your way. I'm like a walking. Nfc right now. Just if you want to look of this they can buy you right now for the next five seconds your life i that whole thing. I sorta get the bitcoin. And and all that sorta get but the nfc thing. I'm like hold on so let's pretend just as an example You know name agai. Aaron rodgers is going to spin a football on the ground right. Because he's so good at that and somebody and they're going to capture that and they're going to blow out you know power station by using computing power to block chain the hell out of that thing and then that's a thing right. It's a physical thing and it's a zeroes in one thing. And then you buy it for twenty million dollars because you want that. Aaron rodgers spinning thing right. Yup and you're the only guy that ever has it because you're looking at that thing because you own it. Yup yes hold onto like this t shirt. Nobody else that i know. Has this one. But it's not a. You could replicate it. You could reprint right. You can reprint the aaron rodgers spinning thing. That t shirts fungible these are non fungible and. Ft's bitches by an nfc of the entire segment. You did marshawn lynch dave involved. Yes because that and applebee's and applebee's do a great. That's a great story. Actually if we have time yeah It is time there is not hold on. Oh shit okay do we have. We do fourteen great more minutes. We have as much time as you want. Gay have literally we could do. Twenty four hours with you. Okay But i can't right now i could come back and wrap up if you know the dave and buster's along this bill walton. Two hours into it. He turned us he goes. How long does this go like as long as you want. Bill bill walton called us last night. And i put it on speaker so gretchen here. He's the sweetest kindest the best he's people have run across. Jamal crawford shot up Otherwise there's many others. I've left him out just on theriault sucked now. They're all good So tom mccollum Storks espn and he was my producer on what was called the main event. And they've made that up. I did not. I thought it was stupid but whether they just run the story what did have to have a name like what are we doing. but it's better than just being. Here's kenny mayne doing some funny. I hired you. Because they're like some day. We're going to be to use me. Yeah we also had main street. That was another show Everybody on that show was parks and rec. Like they're all famous now So tom mccollum was my producer. And i'd say more often than i would with somebody or on my own come up. Let's do this week. This dumb idea. The week usually make up something or take a real story and go off the cliff with their. In this case Willis mcgahee had left buffalo and on the way out he kind of trust the place. Ready said buffalo sucks man they got they got dave and buster's and applebee's and don't even start on the women. I think that was his quote marshawn rookie now so. Tom road really funny script. Like i changed the word or two and we freelanced a word or two but it was really tom and marshawn. And i. i'm reading into willis mcgahee quote and sean is reacting to it and then to prove the buffaloes kind of cool and and willis mcgahee was wrong..

"See came from from the zoo we account every period was here after the hurricane and view if any came from pera john even though parrot jungle had parents that would normally fly free back and forth to certain areas within south lauren. What people don't realize is the plethora of private people who had appearance as pets. That had their little back. Your gazed visas and although paris from three so all of these parents have just the flying free now. Here in south florida are descendants from these previous pat animals that have escaped during hurricanes or otherwise i mean people. Have these bears escape. All the time doesn't have to be necessarily your hurricane you know. We've got people keeping exotic pets on on the news. I just did does good morning. America this morning about this tiger walking loosen houston because it was. Somebody's bet and the guy comes to. Oh this my bad. It's just a pet. It's a flip in tiger. Okay this these people got to get their heads street because this is a big problem in a bizarre twist. The guy that said don't hurt. It is also a murderer that was out on bail. Oh jeez whereas a believable believable. Yes real fascinating twist that one too. So if a guy escapes in a car with tiger. How long before. That tiger eats him just once he gets hungry. Whenever lunchtime arrives dan. i can't predict what a tigers going to do. Obviously tire was raised as quote unquote of pets. But i always tell people. Listen you take the animal out of the wild eugenic while the animal and there's no way to predict what that titans going to But this guy obviously was not bright as bovine chandelier and For me this is a huge problem because at the end of the day What may happen says tiger may be killed just to remove the threat to human beings or fought that that's no fault of the tiger itself users. These are people are just irresponsible during bing's for their own egos or conversation pieces. These laws have gotta change in this country especially in places like texas. Texas has got some really lenient laws and keeping exotic animals which i think can lead to real problems hitch yet another big time story that we can hold up in judge cat people with because i mean tiger king kinda shine the light that if you're a big cat person you got something going on and then we have this crazy story at a houston and turns out. The owner is someone that's been charged with murder. I'm just saying if you want a big cat. I'm judging you. You know a lot of these people they all these animals stripper strictly to say i got a tiger. Look what a big guy. I visited my pet. You might have a poodle. But i got a tight. This is just you know what guys bullshit wo. Oh that escalated. We have never seen this side of ron. Mcgill a fundamentally decent man. He is filled with rage right. Now what is it just pisses me off the way. Alamos are exploited for people's eagles. It's just boston Ron if you could be killed by one animal what what would you choose. I mean we were just. I wanted to mind his rage a little bit and there comes billy making him even more enraged with a with a question go ahead pick the animal that you want. You almost had an elephant kill you. That's the closest you've come to death and a crocodile bitchy. But that's how you met your wife what's going to kill me. The quickest route. I wanna to in east. I gotta be honest with you. I would go with a tiger. I would go with a tiger or lion because they would go. The netting immediately grabbed the neck and sever the spinal cord. You'd be dead insect good story to a spider bite. Not not the way you want to go out. I have one last question on your way out here. Ron and the story is gonna sound funny and then it took like a really dark turn this morning but all right so i have someone that i'm related to that for mother's day decided to take a bike ride by shark valley and she took a spill and she fell into the swamp. Oh god shit you not. She had a fish in her bra. That fell out. I have a photo of it. Yeah verify but i think the swamp was so discussing and filled with bacteria that she now has an infection as to spend several days in the hospital. Can you speak to the type of bacteria. that's the florida everglades. Dangerous terrible win from like something that a screen writer would write in a comedy. It's unbelievable fish. Flopped out of her bra to now. She has spent several days in the hospital. Yeah well you know. There's a lot of steps in the water In places like shark valley where you've got tons valley near sons abyss defecating and doing everything in that water. And there's you know alligators will kill animals and not eat the right away. Sometimes they let them rods and so they're easier know to rip apart swallowed pieces and as that gained blesses taking place. It got all kinds of this is why vultures still important guys because when vultures eat this stuff before it gets a chance to rot really banning. They're taking the disease out of the environments. This is a segue into a positive butter. I hope your your relative or your friend recovers quickly. I hope she will I'm glad that she's alive on them. Happy that she had a dish and abroad. That's wonderful of being of you have good pictures of that. I'm better than the fish at the park. Ranger was very excited. You're happy she had a fish in her. Bra is not that photo now. You get lots of good saw that and get some money to the doctor. Bills her betcha that you're saying the hospital with eddie does look the make. Lemonade out of the lemons. Then so that's the point there but the bottom line is yes. Don't go swimming. Were there are lots of alligators and fish and animals that are living on each other as they defecate and urinate and feed on rotting flesh. Best probably not something that you can tell the brightest person world but obviously there are. Some people need to learn that. Not that she did this on purpose obviously. She wiped out her bicycle. I dunno she. I was not a very good bicycle wider. Because that's pretty flat trail with bill. What's the worst way. Die with an animal worsely way to die with an animal's watch ali. Animal that's gonna take. Its time killing you or just a poison like drag is gonna be. Yeah it's going to be a type of in venice. And then i would save any of the snake venom nations. Were you know it causes such internal hemorrhaging. You're bleeding through your eyes or bleeding through your mouth gliding through your ears. It's a slow process. The pain is beyond intense. Searing horrible pain as you start losing your extremities and it just works on in until you're just did but it's just an awful. It's it's you know you might as well. Just shoot yourself. Ron how much time elapses from the time. You are bitten by this snake until blood starts coming out of your is. It depends on the snake with that could be a matter of you know an hour. Ron what is the right amount of time for a man in south florida to wear underwear. Is it allowed to wear underwear a second day after you've worn underwear the first day under normal purposes on normals conditions that you have a shower available to you know I think you should change your underwear every day. Having said that. I mean i've gone for five days with the saint folk. Well i mean you know. I tried to clean up in the you know on the river. Wherever i'm at but i don't have the ability to wash and dry. None were out there. I do have a special kind of underwear. The drives needed quickly. So that sometimes makes it a maximum of two to three days. But i have gone five days using the same underwear with minimal washing. But because you're like an africa or something out in the wild greg ida.
Will Aaron Rodgers finish his career in Green Bay?
"Good morning. Thanks for joining us. Get right to it when it comes to aaron rodgers and that whole story. So is it likely that aaron rodgers finishes his career in green bay. Or how likely is it. I would say more likely than not. He won't again. You just look at it and look how these quarterback situations have played out. Did peyton manning finish indianapolis. No tom brady finish in new england. No did the green bay packers draft a quarterback in the first round last year. Not only do they draft quarterback in the first round last year but they traded up to draft a quarterback in the first round last year and orlando roger didn't response. That was go out and win the mvp this year but again there are issues between the two sides and you heard him address it after they lost to tampa in the playoffs. And you heard address it with kenny. Mayne on sportscenter over the weekend. He certainly didn't sound like a guy who was committed to finishing his career. Green bay and. I don't think that it is all decision. That also is the decision of the organization that i emphasize traded up to go get a quarterback in the first round last year. No i don't think finish

"I think it's a great song by the way. Thank you and and we feel that music video back at the ball and barrel wear it all. I was GONNA say. Yeah because there's like all of these bartenders dance on the on the counter. Stuff I go. This is what it's about with my actual shirt. When like my real shirt that I worked in back in the day I still I kept it. And then so. I warned in the music video. And then the choreographer who's one of the blinds dancing in the video and the other redhead in video. That was dancing. They had also both worked with me at that bar at that time back in the so so to have them back in the music video for me was said to cool full circle moment that is were those the the people that told you should be. You should go to the big town where they there at all. I don't think that would have been awesome. I know right no no it was a it was a pretty small small. Set that day but But yeah it was really really cool to be back there. Yeah Greg I have to tell you that I can play Julian on my Ukulele now. Come on Yes. I'm telling you I'm telling you I think I think we need to hook it up the two of you. You can play the UKULELE sing along. I think that'd be brilliant. I mean we're we're we gotta get creative. Everybody's doing new so will set that we'll do. We'll do it on them. Excuse me we'll do it. On Twitch. And reese money perfect down. That's what that's what we'll do but so as I go. The single the one that went viral on On Tig talk who pissed you off somebody. Somebody pissed you off. That saw that one. That one was a song. We really had to think out of the box for that because it wasn't inspired by any story at all it was it was literally it was so I wrote with its to these guys and They they like never right with girls they said so so we and we were all completely drained of ideas coming into the right. Because that's just what you do in Nashville you right all the time so When it came to our right I was like guys. Do you have any ideas? They're like no do you. So so and it happens like some at some point. You either wrote all the good ideas you had or you're just drained so in that in that case it was both of those cases so So then we just kind of went off of a vibe rely K. Well I wanted to write with those guys because they reminded me. I saw them at a writers round and they reminded me of Eric Church. Who Love and I'm so inspired by him so I was I. Can we write an air search kind of style song so something? That's a little like preachy. Gospel Coursey in choruses or And then kind of rock ish and then so and I also love is really witty writing style so And of course in the title. It's I'M GONNA make it up as go in goes in leaving. So there's another twist on word so I think we really captured that witty writing style. Where there's a little pun twists on words there so Yeah I'm really really happy with how it turned out even though we do. We do mentioned. Carrie underwood in Song GonNa pull a Carrie Underwood we Which is I think the first time that phrases ever been coined. So I'm happy about that one but Nice oh but but yeah it was inspired by church you you you mentioned earlier about being an independent artist and You know you've got your music playing and you're checking the back end to see. Where's where people listening and that sort of stuff? Is that a conscious decision on your part or are you still sort of hoping a big labor picks you up? I'm curious about your your thought processor about being independent. We are I mean I think the there's there's a limit to Just how far you can go by yourself and And I'm I'm still going and More heads are turning but And I I've been sent a couple While I've been sent a publishing offer and I know people are watching. So it's it's kind of like that gambling waiting game where they're like. They're like Do we do we jumped now. Do we do we or do we wait and see how much she can do on her own. And then we'll come in or like so so that I know there's a bit of that going on right now But I know I do really enjoy this aspect of being on an independent artists because maybe I know making this album I had. I made every single decision. Go coming into it like as far as from what songs were selected to the title track name to or the the album name and the the picture we selected and and even in the production like I was I sat in on on all the sessions with my producer and and gave him my input in and we would try out new things and and he would just entertain me and and whenever I suggested something and and sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't but we tried it anyways and and To be part of that whole process and I don't think I would have been able to if I wasn't an independent artists and and even even making my music videos you know I edit them. I colored graded this last one and and produce them and Directed Joe Lean to your Joe. Lean and So I mean to be involved in those that many facets I don't know maybe I'm just a control freak but also we. Have you know the tools? Are there today for you to be able to do that? You wouldn't have been able to do that and fifteen years ago. Yeah and I think it's really helped I'm glad to to do this all myself into to book my shows and be my own manager and label and stuff like. I think by doing all of this. You have more of an appreciation for the other people that do it so so when those people do come along then yeah then. I'm going to be that much more appreciative in fortunate in grateful for their help. So what's next for you Kelsey? What's their next single? You know assuming that this pandemic doesn't go on for for too many months Fingers crossed you know. What's what can we expect from you So actually I'm letting the audience decide on their favorite song. And that's that's how I'M GONNA make my next music video and my radio team and I am unfortunate to have a radio team in publicist which they're unbelievable. And so I am going to ask that we're GONNA see all collaborate and see what the next radio single will be and it could be the audiences choice after all but Definitely the next music video of any make is going to be the audience choice. That's awesome so because I have a question for you what's that I I'd like to ask as we we sort of near the end of the show. What's in your ears lately so Actually a lot of Canadian other Canadian Country Music So there's actually one of my very good friends Kelly Prescott and she is. "I don't think that's ever happened before just kind of like all the next Gen stats. You know just all of it but yet you still deliver it so that if you're being ungraded at home you did check up all the boxes. Stuart Scott was a master at that he would say all his things that he wanted to say and put his vernacular but he'd also also just step the hell out of it so nobody could ever call them in and say. You didn't give us the hardcore sports 'cause he did. He did both so Stewart's up there and and very fun to work with as well I mean I look the guys I work with right now. Anderson I loved working in La withstanding ill but as a consumer whereas sitting and watching at home I guess it's hard to top down and keep things that they did for so many years and bobbly and Charley Steiner putting them all together because there's Bob. Lee's actually quite a funny guy great wit but on TV he was. I'm Bob Lee you know he he did his. I'm Bob leaving and he did it masterfully. You know he he he did real journalism. Well you you you imagine yourself serious guy. You imagine yourself when you were the politics. Being the Bob. Lee of serious is journalism on television indeed. My interest remain more than sports is just so happens. I make my living doing sport sort and I know I mean I would probably fail the PA quiz today because I still I still don't care but I don't eat or she by now could be. I don't know you don't have any regrets about that. Though right like you don't you don't wish it had turned out differently. It worked well all in a bunch of ways you know to be able to live the life we've led and and you know. I'm speaking of the rewards of it but who's to say that might not have happened open that I've had some great. Ken Burns level documentary that sold on net flicks like I think I really think I am capable of that. I think some people find. Let's get into discussion about something other than sports that you just that weird how it's like senior teacher at the grocery store you know and so out of context so how is it that he actually has an interest in something else. That has a lot more weight matters a great deal more than what might try to hit a home run or not if you got that Shit Kenny. I can't even imagine what Stuart Scott was getting. How much of that did you see and feel pre social media. We have certain bosses who wanted wanted done a certain way the best way to put it and I mean even in the Dan Keith article which I'm not sure if you said your did I did well. You didn't give me a chance to say whether I had read it or not but yes. I I read the article. Keith and Dan changed the form and in some ways gave you permission yeah I it wasn't like I was watching Dan Dan and Keith and like boy. I WANNA be like them. You know it was more. They were doing a thing that I think I could already do as well as that but it was just that it was hey. Let's have fun hour together. This is not you know Susan Church and this isn't anything that has to be dog matic. Why can't we just have a fun hour. MAKE PEOPLE WANNA come back and watch it. The next time I mean there was even like you go back to like George Michael Sports Machine. You know he didn't have the same delivery those guys but it was fun. Watch them and he has a big machine they highlight button and and this is back you know before you knew the results of things so it was pretty cool. Hickman Charles they were doing something like that. CNN so they weren't the only ones at that time but certainly they stood out. They just had a great chemistry even if they as they admit they didn't have that big chemistry otherwise they didn't like you know go fishing together or bowling or drinks or whatever they just kind of did their show took. Dan had the fastest exit in history he he was in his car like. I'm saying goodbye to the Florida. Standards just vanished like go to get one of those. You know it was pretty modern. It's time to be able to start your car. Remotely I think he had one of those mix gonna a remote if he might have had the the Brett farve privilege of parking inside the tunnel if you know what I'm saying but back to the question which I have not forgotten yes he got called in a similar similar way but I think part of that too was Stewart. Was You know dropping a hip hop version of it that maybe twelve white bosses didn't get quite in the same way as some of the rest of us and sometimes he would say either line from song or you know anything that conveyed to a certain audience those who got it all right but that's true with any joke or any delivery. That's a little bit inside so I think they were just made sure that he checked the boxes on the the stuff that had to be sad and then he got in his and he he do that thing which he people didn't know what what I do. He got away when he got away with but he was also very very good at the more conventional part so like you know when we interview baseball players sometimes on the talk back back we've butch breast and I have adopted a single. Ask them each if they believe in. UFO's because it's just so stupid and it just lightens the mood that would probably not being the textbook version of probably wanting to conduct post game baseball player interviews right doing things that disarm people kind of uncomfortable uncomfortable and they Kinda giggled. Oh they're working fun all right good. You know instead of tell me what you saw that three to pitch that you drove for a double you know that's Kinda boring. When then would you say at espn you were having the most fun I remember now but my best thing I did and probably the most fun thing doing? It was the Whiter World of sports. Some people don't even know that happened actually but I used to called Main Street. I think that'd be the second best or tie for Fort. Maybe and we had like Aubrey Plaza and Allison Becker Jon Glaser Ben Schwartz. All these people have done like really good. Hollywood things John glazes done some pretty cool stuff uh John's lasers loves gear show for Aficionados and we got to like a situation comedy basically we had writers made these four minute little silly funny things about my life at ESPN and that show for whatever reason they decided they weren't GonNa carry on with it so I went into John Skipper who was the boss time and said Hey. I got a replacement idea because here you're killing our current idea. I said what if we did sort of a remake of the old wide world of sports and we'll just call wider world sort of sports like we modified it somehow we add an are and we got to travel around the world for two years. I went to Switzerland Nicaraguan Brazil New Zealand Ireland South Africa and we just found these crazy sports nobody ever heard of or sometimes they had heard of but didn't know what take it was. That was my original pitches. The show would be called. What is blank. You know what is cricket. What is Love Kashi. What is what is but they like the the other version better so that was insane that we had the greatest time. It's just a small little group up four of US camera audio the Audio Guy also shot camera my producer me and we did the patio and Italy either crazy horse racing around the town square and we took a helicopter at the top of announcing in South Africa Irish road bowling another one of my favorites so just for the totality of the experience. I'd say that was talks but I still love doing live stuff because there's there's no replacing immediately in the danger of being a lot. How close were you to being the host of deal or no deal. I've seen that imprint and if it happened I don't remember it okay. There's maybe I got a phone call. Maybe I didn't I had phone call top gear that was one and that would have been fun who knows top might have been a great franchise for me but the offer was too risky to give what I had going to. Hey I'm GONNA quit. ESPN and in his car show on whatever channel that was. It didn't seem like it was the right move. I was runner up to the spin off of who who wants to be a millionaire Merapi now. Oh Wow I would have been you would have replaced Regis Philbin. You're very close. I was told I was they. They picked her instead of me. Allegedly what the producers I mean they might have told me and I started. Maybe I was really ninth-place but I'll take second place. I was in trainwreck until they cut me but I am on the DVD extras that was pretty fun got to work with appetite in New York. They called like on a Monday. Can you be here. Wednesday and I just gone through a divorce. I said I can do it if you'll fly my daughter with me because I have daughters that we and they said yes and so we shot this crazy and funny scenes and just like they really felt good in the room here like everybody liked what we did. They were like do it again and try this and then they gave me the sad phone call of it was really really funny but it just didn't work you got you. Don't strike me as a dancing with the stars guy but I guess if you just shrug your shoulders and say hey well. It's just sports awards you just saying in that instance well as just dancing how bad it could it be and it was bad kenny. Yeah I do the money That's pretty much it well. I got called by their way through for whatever about this out at a restaurant. I remember when it happened and I was like what is it. I I thought it was a joke like why the hell would they pick me up barely known you know so that audience might GonNa Dance with US star dog advance with Jessica Lang or something what's going on here and they said no no. I think it was that the producer at the time knew of me probably do something. ESPN or ABC related and yeah. I'm not typically a reality show ooh person so. I what I did to make that be okay with me. I called it a contest. It wasn't a reality show. It was more of a contest than I was able to live with myself but subsequent to that Jerry Rice and is then appeared on that show like ten more times. We did these little skits that we pretended like we're breaking down you know like the NFL countdown type show but about the dancing stars you know the the last four or whatever we do these goofy little sportscenter is about them but yeah in general Oh. I'm yeah well. It's the Kardashians are on. I try to go to another room and my wife likes watching the crash. The kids like you know nothing nothing against the credential. It's I don't mean it that way. Just I don't like that show but I wasn't that type shows truly was as I say how close were you to to being a professional football player and was the injury a horrific injury and I wanna talk about some of the stuff that you're doing now for veterans as well and some of the charitable work that you WanNa get to but how close were you to being a professional quarterback and how broken were your dreams when your ankles snap. It's a lot of stuff in there packed in could get emotional I was not going to be Montana probably but you can only measure yourself against you. You know your peers right in any situation and through better than the rookies so like I was that good whatever that means were they even. GonNa key you mean it could be. They just needed more arms for training camp the story behind it as the kid who played ahead of me. I was the only second-string UNLV this kid named.

"Switching to gyco is a no brainer pitchy in a most nesting Dollond a lot in life. You are headed to the Super Bowl to do a bunch of stuff. Again. I I like a lot of the stuff you do. That's even outside sports. I I don't watch often. But I used to be a loyal dancing with the stars viewer and dance center is one of the funniest things I've ever seen was that as enjoyable for you to do as it was for me to watch. Because for those who don't know it was sort of a sportscenter play in the middle of dancing with the stars where Kenny Mayne would talk about the other contestants and how they were faring and where their weaknesses were. And it was one of the funniest things ever just loved it. You know? Yeah. For those who really don't know. I was one of the contestants on dancing with the stars in its first season. They did a summer like trial show, but this was the first official fall season. And I didn't last long I still contend. I was better than masterpiece. We come along. Well, but he I thought I put out a greater effort and had more moves, but he had a bigger fan base. So I got voted off immediately last ninety seconds. And then they called back because hey, we want to use you in the show somebody we don't know how and we just kind of conceived this ridiculous sports cast that it's just like NFL shows, you know, break down the final four playoff teams. We would come on and break down the remaining dancers once they go toward the end of the season. So Jerry rice me, and Len Goodman, the judge and we did this. We would shoot for like two hours and they'd find the best seven minutes full makeup and sparkles. And and it was so good. Well, that was the funniest part is Jerry Rice. We'd get mad at me if I wouldn't apply enough enough glitter. Like come on, man. You gotta add more. You know, he get upset with me. So yeah, sadly they killed that. Because they they went down to one a week shows. Instead they used to Tuesday. So they just had no place. I like to always correct when. Make a mistake on sportscenter later in the show. Even if the boss don't like bringing up mistakes, I think I spaced out it was Jamal Crawford. Gary Payton, Jerry Rice, Steve l'argent and Lenny Wilkins. I think I left one of them out. Early out maybe. But either way you got it now. Yeah. So the dance center stuff you've you were in baseball, drew. Carey. What's that? Dan centers, dad, let it go. When I I wanna talk about the stuff you've done because as somebody who's into comedy, obviously and has done full on acting in commercials and TV shows movies. Is there ever a part of you that wants to do more of that full-time? A there's one hundred percent part of me if anyone's out there listening. Yes, I'm in. What do we wanna do when I might try? They're trying to do them. I was in something. And also not in something, you know, train wreck. Yeah. The only Schumer a couple couple of Schumer and and here hater in LeBron James. Yeah. So I got to shoot. And and Tony Romo was seen as well. And they cut me out entirely. They gave me the the the sad. Call how much how funny it was really played well in the room all those they said, and I see where they were going like it while they worked. They also made knows perfect sense in the you know, the way they laid out the show like it was just one more funny thing, but unnecessary. So I'm on the DVD extra and I get little tiny checks every quarter. But. No. It was sad. I was I was I was looking for. And it was such a fun experience. They called me literally like on a Monday, and they just dreamed.

"He's the best. Here's my interview with Kenny Mayne, that's what she said super excited to welcome in this week's guest, an idol of mine really an inspiration of mine when I got into the screen or maybe not as much anymore now than I know him better. But still, of course, someone I admire very much ESPN sportscenter anchor feature reporter general do everything guy who seldom. Every position at the company. Kenny Mayne, idol stuff is real. But I think the first time I met you at some Super Bowl radio role. I said the same thing how many Super Bowls have you been to by the way of trying to see if you would remember that. I don't know the exact number, but many, but I remember our first meeting 'cause your name stood out do. Yes, you came up to me and tried to get me to be in whatever little thing, you were doing subject was similar to all mind. Where would just made them up as we went along. Right. I remember the meeting. I think it was. Yes. Probably near radio row. I want to say it was in Phoenix. But it might not have been it might have been. But yet you came up. And then I did some something for you. Whatever that was. That's kinda how I always did all of mine, I just pretty much go to people in ask favors, and you can't worry about getting those. He the yes. Cross your fam-. We're just looking back at one of our ridiculous fake football stories back when I used to those for countdown. We were in Phoenix. And we kind of like our story fell through. And in the meantime, Tony Sirri co who played paulie walnuts on the sopranos right called me called me up on the phone. He had just done me a couple of favors they'd been in a couple of bits for me. And he's like, hey kid. I need four Super Bowl tickets. I'm like, yeah. They're y'all. Try definitely I'll give it the effort and in my head. I'm like zero Monday of Super Bowl week. Like, you know, we don't have a vending machine of Super Bowl tickets. And but he hangs up, and I have every belief that, you know, pretty much I've been threatened that I have to get him Super Bowl tickets. So we decided let's just make that our story this week that paulie walnuts is threatening me that I need to get four Super Bowl ticket. So the whole week. I went around town trying to find anybody like I'm raising four fingers up when Bella checks doing his press conference. I'm going up to the players, and and just as all ridiculous in the end, we blew up a car in the desert had a I think the correct version he calls himself midget actor on his website, but small people right person. Yes. My Mark tram beano, actor and. Yeah. For some reason, the two of us in a car that we blew up in the desert and Dave Craig on a horse. That was the big finish sport. Look it up on the. Well, one of my favorite main events was with you know, the bears Robbie gold after that kick in the wind in San Francisco the the bit about him just turning every single kick into a ninety degree angles since he was a kid. Some of them are just so smart. Do are we ever going to get any more main events? Well, their their case by case I'm on serve a new contract where they want me doing sportscenter specifically not exclusively. But almost and so anytime, I do something extra. There's sort of a surcharge going on or something and. Than many. Yeah. Wherever I'm in the middle of a really fun one one of my favorite guys ever Jared Allen, the famous tackler of the NFL fame, and they do as kaffir opening thing. What stood out for people who don't remember him as well? You should. 'cause he was like all over here. He always used to say on the player introductions, they went to culinary academy. When the other guys, you know, say diversity of whatever just a funny guy. Funny. Smart silly..

"People from the world of sports music, comedy and more talking about their lives. Careers successes and failures. Everybody. Welcome to the latest edition of. That's what she said was Sarah Spain so excited for you guys to hear the conversation with this week's guest. Kenny Mayne who was a real inspiration for me when I decided to get into sports, if you're a regular listener, you probably know that I really moved out to Los Angeles to do comedy and acting wanted to be on Saturday Night Live, and as I started to look into the possibility of working in sports. My background was always just watching and playing I hadn't really realized that you could make a living talking about sports, and I wanted to still be an entertainer, and I wanted to still embrace the comedy that I had grown up wanting to pursue and Kenny Mayne was this perfect example of someone who seemed to be doing both and his main events inspired me a ton and also taught me some lessons early on about how sarcasm and dry comedy are perceived and received differently between men. And women and older people and younger people and all that stuff. And it's something that is still sticks. In my craw. Cajun only in the example, that I often use when talking to people about how it can be difficult. Trying to be a woman in sports and be funny and make jokes that need someone to be on the other side to get it. Right. Not just as soon idiot. I often use example of Kenny Mayne, you know, he can start a sportscenter clip of the Lakers and say LeBron James warming up. Never seen him play. Hurt is really good though. And that's funny because everyone knows he's joking. If I started a clip that way myself, there would legitimately be people out there that were like, wow, this girl has never seen the brand this. How did she get her job? Right. And so like the ability to be able to play in the way that he does is always been something, I admired because he's great at it. And I was also a little jealous of because I haven't yet gotten to the point where I can do it so freely, but I wanna play a quick clip. Because when I was just starting out in LA, and I made my hosting real. Which was literally I'd. To buy a DVD burner. This before he could just send everything digitally and make CD's and DVD's of this to send along to talent agencies and for additions, and this is a little clip from that hosting real that I called the Spain of it. I'm Sarah Spain and say we're gonna talk about an issue that's gone widely undiscussed in the NBA this. Oh, sure they've changed. The both mothers done it with animal rights activists. Does anyone talked about how many trees are murdered cheer to make hard one floor this and so much more on this bane of now presumably everyone who knows me now knows that that's a joke and presumably and hopefully everybody who received one of those DVD's was familiar with the main event and familiar with the comedy that I was aiming for their. But that that's how much made kind of inspired me coming up with the desire to be able to play the way that he does and still respect sports. But understand that it's entertainment, and there's so much fun to be had while while covering it. So anyway, you guys are gonna love this conversation..

"You might have heard them from sportscenter. I know if you're like me, I watched him probably from the time that I can remember really being the sports every single morning and after noon, if Kenny Mayne and Keith Olbermann were on sportscenter together, I would watch it until they would change into a new one. I would have parts memorized because they would play them three or four times in a row back day. Never that that just watching it on loop. It's like I, I saw it, but I'm gonna watch it again. My brother used that I go if you want to do a quick mount Rushmore, even though that's a PMT thing, we'll do a mount Rushmore of form. Sportscenter personalities. Sure. I mean, I don't. I don't think there's much debate here, but go ahead. I have Kenny Mayne. Keith Olbermann, rich, Eisen, and Dan. Patrick. All right. I would go rich Eisen, Dan, Patrick, Kenny mean and Stuart, Scott. I'm going gonna go, Linda Cohn, Kerry champion. Nicole briscoe. Classic. And who other whatever other lady going on all eighty cast there. That's good showing my expertise. Yes. In sports, we could see they used to watch sports center on loop. It's lebeau my brother used to, and one of the biggest fights we ever got in, he watched it on loop like you guys did one, four, seven, and like Kenny Mayne. And the funny guys are the only things that made it bearable. For me, one of the biggest fights we ever got him. It was like, I got so sick of it one day when I was a kid, I tried to steal the remote from them. We through the remote and broke it, and that was a pig. Before we before we bring in Kenny my all time favorite Kenny Mayne joke was birthday of baseball season. He constantly do it. I remember I think it was Terry Pendleton hit two home runs on the first day. He's like Terry Pendleton with his second Homer the day. He's on track to hit what's hundred sixty two on track to hit like seven hundred and something home run. That would be a record. Deadpan. All right. Well, here's getting everyone makes a big deal out of the sportscenter catchphrases. But honestly, we make this stuff up right on the spot. Welcome more quite one forty. Ninth right field. This is a non tunes like it's never iffy if it's. Blows must be a Homer Simpson because the pitches would don't because the catchphrases are so organic keeps the show fresh. I am the most popular player in all the land. Now as a block thirty, we have one of my favorite people from when I was growing up, eating cereal in the morning. Kiddie Maine is doing great. Thanks for veteran coming up this weekend. He's got a big event with Jerry Rice and some other notable whenever the goats there, you don't really have to say, who else is there? Kenny, thanks for joining us. Or we have several in that Steve l'argent Jerry pate and one of my favorites, Jamal Crawford. So I don't know how these guys all suggest, but everybody I asked that, yes, in fact, Dale Earnhardt said yes, but it had to be in North Carolina. So these grandiose visions of what is event was going to be, you know, we were going gonna raise so much money would fly people around the country to these distant events and all will build over time right now, we're gonna high school gym, and we're still trying to sell tickets to that, but we're, we're happy about what we're doing. So you know, whatever we do will cliche, if we, if we help one guy, then that's the start right. The what is what is it all about. So I broke my leg in one thousand nine hundred eighty. When you mentioned how you were five years old watching cartoons and me and eating cereal like, yes, I'm older than you. I've played long ago at UNLV and I was just second-string so we were getting killed at Oregon. They stuck me in the last quarter, whatever. And last play the game, some guy decides to put his helmet on my ankle, even though the scores thirty three tonight, I guess she wanted to grade well on Monday. A good score. Anyway, I've forgiven him, but yeah, it was bad. Another way they real big of you. It was a fractured this location, but I played the next year. 'cause when you're twenty, whatever. He's just going to get all these years..

"Is like the the video games in the triska or the strong as he in the play their working harder this than ever before i do think they are still far too little money in it and there great group she can back but archived at orix mayne nickless argument over and over again that look we need to protect the software as much as we need to protect the hardware because the software does represent in its own an act of creation i do however greece and people but not i don't think there's too much emphasis on protecting the romps i just think there's not enough emphasis on protecting the physical media i am clearly much more expensive yeah thing that the actual physical media is the ideal way experiences games but it's uh unrealistic to think that every library and museum in america can have every arcade kevin every built yeah it's kind of unrealistic but that's the that's that should be old 100 here maybe it's making their that that's kind of like so why rumour is wildly that on a fall short of that yeah i mean that's that's a good point i mean the the fact is we could argue you know it is unrealistic to think that every library can have every book in a in a series by nab it's not if we find a way to make it work i agree it's really hard to just requires changing where we start from i do think digital protection particularly of of pc games and also stuff that we're we're ecas emulation quality continues to improve eventually every crt in the world breaks i wanted to be able to look back and go hey this is kind of what map he was like yeah there's that part to um but we can go into men is here to manufacture if that happens i'm good with that will good is here too right.
