"Up what about fertilizing. Now's the time to get anything down for trees and shrubs well yes market definitely is now it is it's later than would have been advised in a way however still not too late as a matter of fact When properly handled. It's never too late to fertilize. But right now. Things are growing things things by all kinds of names and sizes. They are there. They're going on stored energy right now. They have not had a chance to have the leaf out make enough food to sustain themselves all along and then to perk them up with a little bit of fertilizer. Now i I'm going to be careful here how to explain this. But i tend to manage plants by fertilization or the lack thereof. No if if it's a plant as tough as nails. And i don't wanna have to use a machete to get down to walk or or across the back yard or whatever. I will let some things go without fertilization. However i have a couple of plants that are in stress based on age in etc tree forms were fertilized. Last fall they were they were fertilized. And i have a traffic stopper. My front yard looks like a checkerboard. Every place they stuck the needle in the ground to insert the waterfall the water fertilizer combination. is greener grass and that'll last for another several weeks until they get mode off so to speak but then those having been done last fall and very early spring other things are are coming along to where they need fertilizer. And some help right now..

"Welcome back to the improv show in the pandemic projections you mentioned one I think it's telling yesterday in our conversation about that you on musk's William Wallace moment demanding that people be given their G. D. freedom back attendance to that was to his credo core was a graph you posted of projections for hospitalizations in California you know the modelers that Gavin Newsom the governor is using the rate per one protection the April ten projection versus the actual data April one by the way the April on April tenth projections the modeling you see the projections of a hospital bed occupancy going up it basically forty five degree angle the April and protection for may one may by may one fifty thousand hospital beds occupied by April tenth twenty thousand the actual data which is a horizontal line since March thirtieth is about five thousand so you know off by a factor of four off by a factor of ten and yet we're still in this modality where some people believe in the model over real world data they have to in order to continue justifying their shutdowns we see this with Gavin Newsom now going back and forth with respect to shutting down beaches and parks we see it in Illinois we see it in Michigan with Gretchen Whitmer today announcing an extension of the imprisoned in place order to may twenty eighth these pandemic projections versus the actual data for more on the topic we're pleased to be joined by our friend Jim Pinkerton he is the co chair of the rate coalition contributor to the American conservative and Breitbart Jim thanks for joining us peek at it thank you so per your PC American conservative you're pulling your hair out over these competing projections just like us so many others are including myself right right it might decide well two of the most famous model one from the imperial college London and gathered with the institute for health metrics at the university of Washington funded by the gates foundation adding the two of you were suggesting about you on Moscow his data from California the two models pretty much stating the opposite thing I hope the the imperial college model is extremely pessimistic and there I H. and B. models extremely optimistic and so what is left to wonder which one should we care well right and and the argument of course is being advanced by politicians they're not dumb in terms of covering their backsides is to say write those models were way off they were way over what we're seeing in the real world and that's thanks to the decisions that we made right the figures in our lives today computers and big data and your card balance have so much prestige yeah the server not that people get all gosh it's a computer model we have to know about our worship it you know one can reminded of the primary Garfunkel song you know they think the people about the parade today you got got it made yeah okay so the politicians whatever they want to do whether they want me don't be open like in Georgia or close like in Michigan they can point to a model that sort of gives them sort of a white coat prestige anything else authorities zero yeah if you look at the models you realize they just sort of say everything in fact I pointed out according to Columbia University in New York there's actually more than one thousand models out there I thought it was on the virus so if you could throw a dart and pick whatever one you want politicians should stand up and say look this is what I think is best and if you like a book for me if you don't like it but against me or protest or whatever but this idea that we're gonna wrap ourselves in you know computer ticker tape and make that the armor I I think it's kind of fraudulent and of course as I pointed out that all this is you know the stock on the virus it is it's an old word for tomorrow we're gonna wind up when we start to find a model Arcadia modeling climate change be advised that the models have trouble figuring out how many people are gonna die tomorrow then the chances are going to get it right about the climate a hundred years from now well we have a pretty good idea because they've been getting it wrong for the last forty years with respect to climate change but but but on the models to that there's something else going on I I that I I C. as well which is the specific projections and predictions and then you know the arguments about what was projected and what actually occurred and then the general predictions about what will occur and then what's actually happening by general for example the media narrative was California did everything right shutting down the state before it needed to I thought I had a learning curve they did everything right Florida in taxes did everything wrong all my goodness Ron DeSantis kept the beach is open and all my goodness he just opened Jacksonville beach last week alme kit California does per one hundred thousand five per one hundred thousand Florida and Texas that's per one hundred thousand six and three respectively not statistically significant the default you're you're right average underlying that the chords in the general sense that collective compact one position than the media at also Democrats are I have the other so good idea eight you have the model from Washington state but again it funded by the gates foundation that's not exactly a Citadelle of from admiration but the I. eight eight and the model was horrible a little bit on may be optimistic and they've been clobbered by all the other washing clothes at big article attacking them the other day because they're too optimistic and that she has somehow being pro products so as you said you in California you get one result and that cruise with Democrats are right and and that can cause they got the same result but that Cruz Republicans are wrong it seems to me at this stage or perhaps we're getting to the stage where the models are going to be less than last because you have different states now more than a dozen states moving to open up and substantial fashion you know moving through the facing of an opening up pretty quickly it would seem and so you're gonna have competing models and when people see that rapture did not come to Texas or or frankly to Colorado where there's a democratic governor they're gonna say well I assume you think they're going to say well okay my politicians are over reacting and I'm seeing what's going on in other states I don't see why can't why we should be following the example of other states that are striking a different balance bracket issue extremely challenging I mean that we can't minimize sixty one thousand dash at all and a worldwide pandemic and we are hopefully gonna start replacing models wish that actual track record and you'll be able to evaluate how countries including the United States of course but also in other European countries you know a plus South Korea and Taiwan and Japan and someone will be able to step back and look and see what are the common elements of a successful strategy on this and what are the common elements of an unsuccessful strategy yeah I have no doubt that there's going to be out of nine eleven commission never pearl harbor commission not a Warren Commission all rolled into one on this particular that that's a good idea we we do need to learn to fly freely eat it yeah as you know many people said we're gonna get a virus like this every three or four years whether or not the Chinese you're breaking them out remains to be seen but even that it struck nothing more sinister than dot cat naps the wet market yeah if something bad or something and and and you will find that we're still gonna get the viruses and so we we darn well better learn the right lessons as well as of course work on a vaccine but it began to be nice to be working from actual empirical data as opposed to just some hypothetical computer run he is Jim Pinkerton co chair of the rate coalition contributor to the American conservative and bright park Jim thanks.

"Now once again here is a Richard Preston and this from the Associated Press Richard just out a new strain of influenza that comes from chickens it may mutate into a bug that can be spread from person to person a change a change they say that could lead to a worldwide epidemic quote there is no evidence yet of human to human transmission but the very nature of this virus means that it will acquire that it repeating will acquire that property said Robert G. Webster a member of the world health organization's influenza team again a quote it's only a matter of time end quote that sounds pretty serious sounds like we need a vaccine yes it does and I guess they're working on that very quickly what are the odds they will find it pretty pretty good well they've got a little problem you know influenza vaccines are developed in eggs you grow them up in a live fertilized chicken eggs but since this is a a bird virus the chicken virus right it kills the egg so it's very difficult to get a vaccine in an egg that dies you need those extra survive long enough to create enough virus to be able to make up and I never saw that it came from chickens yep and so that they they're going to have some problems I believe they're already trying to do that they're trying to grow the virus and eggs and they're finding that the X. died too quickly here is I think a good question then we'll go to the phones art what is it that you and your guest possibly hope to accomplish by discussing this kind of material do you and or your gas truly believe this kind of information will enable the population to effectively protest biological warfare what do you and your guests suggest we the public could possibly do about it yes and the that's a great question and the answer is yes you the people of the whole need to get in touch with their leadership and say that they need to be told the truth about biological weapons Bill Clinton president Clinton and the White House staff know a great deal about biological weapons about who's got what they knew all along about these things these super bugs which is super black that and super anthrax developed in Russia this information has been classified for a long time and it's not been told to the American people the American people need to know this kind of thing because after all we will be the losers in any biological terror attack or military accident indeed all right let's try the phones wildcard line you're on the air with Richard Preston hollow hello yes my name is Charles I'm calling from Berkeley California yes Charles and I thank you so very very much for having Richard Preston on the program art I really can gradually I I couldn't possibly imagine a more appropriate cast out of this time I say this because I myself working a few which is somewhat tangentially related so called nanotechnology although I specialize in what's called in a biology and I bring this up because the DARPA as I'm sure you all know has been extremely interested in not only developing their own flavor of bugs with more appropriately their own response systems and a couple of questions I want to talk about your death by may first of all there's a group of Washington state within one name on the air but press against knobs who developed a very appropriate kind of antigen response device which allows aerosol dispersant micro to be detected in a fairly short amount of time this allows the foot soldier or whoever in the field to know that you know engine or I'm sorry and biological into the axis been measured and is there in some form and to be I would like to toss out early for just to your guest that the arena of being able to mechanically manipulated the the molecular constructs are different kinds of microbes but viruses and bacteria and so forth has gone far beyond just a kind of experimental stage and more into a this is almost a road to this point and so I I kind of pose the question really almost to the famous into the previous question without any red near Hey do you think that this could be protest and public and should people want to know about this and be caught up policy be implemented politically or otherwise that would at least derived this to the public arena so that there could be some kind of global I'm manager tree is right word but some kind of awareness so that this could be seen as not a fictional but rather a factual around the people to try to respond to and create some kind of focused towards the right these are great questions first of all yes I do know about the DARPA work and indeed I describe some of it in the cobra event the the the bio terror investigation squad the team uses some of these new devices to detect biological weapon in human blood or or in you know samples of material and one of the centers that I talk about is what I call the blank biosensor little hand held device that looks like a TV remote control that can detect up to twenty five bio weapons in a sample of blood or fluid and if it detects a bio weapon it emits pleasant chiming tone a pleasant charming tone that's the point by a one of the one of the people in the store uses that quite effectively there are also devices now they can sample the air and can find detect particles in the air by particles weaponized bio particles that may be drifting in the air and visibly and these could be very useful in in a battlefield scenario or indeed even in a city where there would be a threat of terrorism something in the air so this is very real stuff and it's part of a package of kind of counter measures that we need to take to get ourselves fully prepared to deal with the coming world the world of advanced biology how come how come all of a sudden though I mean for years and years and years we've sort of all known this stuff was out there but it's like suddenly there's a button national awareness that something is about to happen well I think that there is and I think part of it really may very well be coming from the government itself actually journalists tend to react to what they're hearing from their government sources and you know I know what I'm hearing from my sources and what I'm hearing is that there may be specific intelligence information out there that groups maybe actually acquiring things like small pox or super anthrax or super black death the the true right wing one goes say aloud that they believe that our own government will be spraying our streets in our cities however they are the very same groups are there are they not who are the ones most likely a trying to construct some of this stuff in basements around the country well yeah or choir at I don't know why anybody would want to use it as a terrible terror weapon but then I don't understand terrorism very well it's very hard to understand it is to instill terror whether or not it's used if you know someone has it and has a will or intent to use it then you are terrorized right used to the Rockies you're on the air with Richard Preston high high art how you doing this morning find where are you this is Marty I'm calling from Oaklyn New Jersey you're buying it in here five by five one W. PH T. twelve ten Philadelphia yes Sir two quick questions for your guest number one concerning the chemical and biological weapons if the satellites are even half as sophisticated as we have been told they are why they need to even have human inspectors on the ground in Iraq or any place else for that matter and number two we keep hearing how intelligent these viruses are and something that has always baffled me how is it possibly in the interest of the virus to attack and kill the very host that is keeping the virus alive both good questions alright the inspectors on the ground is that a worthy endeavor and if they want to hide these things are they going to be able to do it successfully you better believe it well first of all there the only way to find a bioweapons plant is having inspectors on the ground you can't see anything from the air the National Security Agency found that out when they began photographing these bio warfare labs in Russia and after later when the American inspection teams win in there this is all described in the cobra fat the they found that the intelligence analysts to put all the circles and arrows on the wrong places on the photographs and that the really scary equipment the really scary facilities were not even identified by the photo analyst the need people on the ground the problem is that the bio reactor which grows virus if you can you can photograph that thing from the outside but you don't know what's growing inside it what was the other question then you know what I do is I I'm sorry I blew it myself and it was a good one too will will get it I'm sure okay there there are people Richard who have accused you of being part of the this is the sort of dissemination of information that's got this whole ball rolling and I'm used to have people been calling me for years and they ask me if I'm see I and I I just I finally got fed up I said yep I'm CIA CFR two and whatever else you might imagine so how how do you handle those kinds of accusations I'm a normal guy you know I'm just a writer and in fact I don't you know I don't know much about the CIA what I know is that you know occasionally I would be told by somebody you know you're getting the classified material here for the cobra that they did tell you that yeah they said what he said to me was is there a couple of things when I started describing some of the facilities in Russia that have been discovered you know analyze now and the people of fifteen right I was told in a couple of occasions you know really if you describe this building this corporate zero if you describe corpus zero too closely here the CIA has no sense of humor this is classified stuff so occasionally I would have to blur a little bit but man I'm no tool of the I AO tell you that so then you really know a lot more than you were able to write about well I'll tell you I'll tell you this on air because I'm not afraid to say it anymore in the cobra event one of the characters talks about his experiences as a weapons inspector in Russia and he went to a place called Koltsovo which isn't Iberia and it's one of the major with bio warfare labs specifically my source was telling me about this place said to me you know you can't give the name of the building where they have these huge explosion test chambers where they're testing weapons made of what people and small talk can't give the exact name of the thing you can't tell exactly where it's located on the campus a cold so so I said well you know what we all know and I give the guy the real name of the building by the way the real name of the building building corpus six a okay and corpus six a is the a bowl of smallpox air test facility and he said you know you don't want to say corpus six say you want to say you know give it another name so in the book I.

"Jails choice for spectators daily poltics podcast. Donald Trump said, you response to what seems to be a chemical weapons attack in Syria. He's to Emmanuel maturation in what seems to be in the US French alliance, but will Britain join. Indeed, Ken Bryson, join him without votes in parliaments. I'm raising us joined by Katie balls and James Recife to discuss. Now, James, we'd be down this road before an American president wants to move on Syria last time when bracket Bama involved at Cameron. The whole thing was called off because Cameron lost. A vote was the lesson from that as far as Washington's concerned, but his best to ask the French next time and not the Brits don't Trump and KOMO have conformed a report, and I think it easier for Mkhonta to get close to Trump politically than it is Theresa May. I mean, as interesting question about what would happen if you bought this house of Commons for vote because I get the sense. Probably more labor MP's would vote with the conservatism before you know, there's a lot of anger on the positive out, very ambiguous statement from the haughty about this attack. Last night. But I think when you look at how risk of us Theresa May as she doesn't want to bring this Brexit legislation to ask comments at the moment for fear of losing it when you've got a hung parliament and no majority do you really wanna riskless vote if you don't have to. I just wonder whether there might be, I suspect as a may is made. That's quite hoping that the Americans do this quickly and on their own and we can ensure supportive statement. And that can be that no Katie when David Cameron lost. This was a humiliation for him. The first generations of the prime minister lost vote or more peace, Juve's sense to resume just doesn't want to take that risk and go down the same route of embarrassment that David Cameron into walk. Yeah. I mean, I think this is a defensive government with no majority that likes to avoid defeat in parliament only has one to it's about say far I didn't. She wants to add to that particular Nici that she doesn't have to hold a vote on, but wouldn't. Rather embarrassing for Britain whose defense strategy has been to be closely aligned with America to actually see France being seen as the first ally, we'd be losing our status or there wouldn't be a risk, but to resume is loosening has always been quite a tight diplomatic and military bond between Britain in America. There is a risk with that, but also there is an alternative option this and you have Johnny Mercer conception MP writing in the tattoo graphs day suggesting that actually just don't hold a vote. You don't have to hold a. I think that would be quite a big gamble for Theresa May because public opinion is quite hard to read on this. People are skeptical of intervention by D wonder if she wanted to take action at that would be better. Now, James, the indications we've seen from Jeremy Corbyn is that he is skeptical about this usage. Whoever has done this, it say, terrible attack. Whoever done this means the oversee, doesn't think it was a sad. So can we already see first of all labor being opposed. And principal to military action? And Secondly, nother occasion for a split between Jeremy Corbyn and his MP's job at whose house one of the most pugnacious members of capital on Twitter was last night saying, all Jeremy Corbyn tweets written in Moscow because it was so similar to this kind of Russian line of all. We don't know who's done this. It needs to be investigated. We must act against whoever has done this or levels of maturity. I've ink is yet another thing whether tension between Jeremy Corwin on the labour moderates is brought to the fore. The question is, where does this lead in? Obviously moderates automatically going to do anything, or are we just gonna get laid wonder, it's popping up on Twitter to save that they disagree with their leader. Ultimately, when it comes down to it on at the next election, going to be campaigning to meet Jeremy Corbyn prime minister, which they will be campaigning for labor or not. Katie. Do you see an answer to James's question in the weekend press? I mean, we're does this lead. We read in the observer. There is apparently fifty million quid behind. A new centrist party. So we finally seeing the challenger to corbin's labor dating allow yet this money floating around. There's a few ideas as a great one of which is a form of business adviser to Admiral band. He considering doing something, but it does seem very tentative and it's planning even if the funds are there. I don't think it's any surprise. There was money at there is a new centrist policy. We know lots of donors to labor party even some daynuss to the conservative party. No longer feel like these parties worth giving their money all, you know the help. But at the same time, I think you have problem that if those donors will come together to this new party, though very quickly sought to disagree it, whether it's on actually how much reposing Brexit having a second referendum or we just having a soft Brexit when it comes to economic policy was our actual rule in taxes. And then if we all looking for slightly pro yeast business Pasi, then I think there is one called Liberal Democrats only polling on seven percent. Sent Jews who Sewri Liberal Democrats every time somebody talks of need for a new party. This ought to be opportunity. That is the fact that lib Dem's seem so unloved, and so lonely right now, demonstration of the fact that there isn't that much of a market for a new party. There was belived dams wouldn't have got spanked as much as they didn't elation an interesting. He is how many senior liberal, how he prepared to indicate that they would roll their party into this new centrist party. If it got going can accept in the reputational damage that's being done to them by the coalition being Burs. I said, the magazines we, I'm marina quite show what the space for this centrist parties. It's economics. The Dory party look only certain to embrace of raising taxes to spend more on public services, which is a pretty centrist position. I mean, the Tories were heading in a more nationalist our action at the last of action. But I mean the election result has stopped that much more back to Tori body, worrying about how appeals to a more diverse Britain and also five time nets election. Presumably legally out of the EU will be a new arrangement of being the Goshi eight. And then all the force of the status quo will be behind that. So I'm not quite sure what this supposed space is. Now. I think if I was H Q I would be delighted by the formation. Centrist party is one of the things that hurt them that also action was ultimately everyone on happy about Brexit pretty much ended up voting for labor. If there was some new centrist party inmates only five or six of the boat. The vast majority of that vote would always have gone to labor and on the Britain's first ball, suppose system that could be just the boost the Tories need to convert their forty percent. Plus vote share into an actual parliamentary majority in Katie. We've had something like three dozen new parties registered since January. I mean, it seems as Twitter ought to have a new button where you can click here to start a new party. I mean, this is seems to be more an expression of discontent from a small number of people. And Joe Nash worth Liber showed a cabinet member said this if it were to emerge big, if it would be a party of the rich by the rich for the rich. Each and it does seem to have a point there. Yeah, I know say I'm talking about parties of untwisted even had an agenda smoothie economists that she decided to start an EP on Twitter. On Twitter because they got bit excited by the replies. Today. James on other issues, we've had knife crime very much of the agenda here. Amber Rudd has been on the radio. She sounds worried she sounds like she's taking it seriously. She ought to be, but do you think she is politically endanger here? Are people going to start linking the Ryan's in life crime and violent crime to Tori police coast because their denial so far do seem to sound a little bits implausible. But government are definitely on the defensive illness. When you listen to broads interview on the program, she wasn't trying to score runs. She was to protect her wicket. She had to say, but she hadn't seen this home office document guarding a hold of which suggests that the cuts in police numbers lately, one of not join the contributory factor to rise in violent crime. I mean there also is a sense which is if you general public, if about releasing, they will always tell you they want to see more police on the street, but that is key priority. Obviously, if you have fewer police, it is. More difficult to have more of them on the street kitty. We've got local elections coming up, and so I guess we're hearing a lot more about London, especially as the magazine this week in London. MP's also our former colleague Chemi bathing who's now a member of fee London assembly and then went onto become MP saffron Walden. She has been tipped by many as a rising star, perhaps even a new prime minister, but she has managed to launch Ichiro Pedo which seems to have landed on herself. Yeah. So we have a a small scans. I think over the we can jump into one which has them Cami. Bad enough was found to have hacked into Harriet Harman's website and posted some pro-conservative posts. The reason we know this bad not told agendas this, and she used the phrase hacking herself, so she's created her own problem here. And actually what she did was guess a password happened to work. And then I think to some stuff about hyena to Harriet, Harman apparent. Nice Boris. I mean, it was so obvious at the time. She sounds she is no standing guilty of attacks making an apology to highly harmony James. How serious is this? Would you say she oversee meant it as a joke. Perhaps you spent a bit too much time in this pick teachers to hurt, oh, news story, major inadvertently do an expose on herself. Are people gonna laugh this off or see it as something more damaging is about as much home to carry about Knox political career as Nick Clegg setting fire Vos cactuses in a greenhouse on a school trip to Germany did is so unsubtle. It's haunting this as Kremlin style disinformation being spread on the web, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. But I think is an interesting thing about the over-correction. Politics goes in cycles, and after trees may was ridiculed for saying that the most naughtiest evidence run for a field of wheat politicians are trying to show a bit more personality came about, not obviously went too far, but only suspect that this really will not do her that much damage that when in five years time visiby an amusing. In an afternoon, speech RAV with on the finless ended her career, right? So it's a Nick Clegg level of misdemeanor will give them what happens in Clegg. Can next be very afraid.
