"That brings us to the injury portion of the program, man, there's a ton of them here. Tyrese Maxie will start with him out three to four weeks. Small fracture in his foot, he steps on somebody's foot and then transition against the box as soon as that happened, he started limping, and I was like, man, that didn't look good. Somehow they won that game, they lost they might have won the battle, but they lost the war. They still don't have James Harden. He's out until early December, and then today this morning we found out that no Joel embiid, he's got a foot sprain and he'll miss the Brooklyn and Charlotte back to backs. Walking wounded for the sixers right now, Ralph. Yeah, you know, you mentioned that bucks gave. I thought that was a really nice win for Philly. Weird game. Obviously we'll get into the ladder stuff later. That embiid foul on Giannis was so weird. But to win that second half without maxi, I thought was really impressive. There's actually artery down harden. I'm curious how you feel John because they're the rumblings that some people would think the sixers look better without harden with the backseat and be just kind of the two man team. I've long said on this show, I don't think you treat embiid like a traditional superstar. I don't think he's the kind of guy you paired with a ball dominant player because of how uniquely talented he is within the current scope of the NBA, obviously the sixers are listening there in a terrible spot. I do think it's been so good so far this season that even without maxi, they can be competitive, like they're going to have a good team when he's on the floor. It's how do you manage the minutes when he's off? Can you survive for 13 minutes a night? He's not on the floor. That's going to be their big issue.

"Now he's not shooting the ball well from the field. I get that. Before I said Tobias Harris for said no, tyrese Maxie, Ford said no, Joel embiid for setting up Danny Green. He's doing that. Yeah. He's doing it. He actually turned into the facilitator in Brooklyn. But look, but guess what? We praised LeBron James for being able to switch positions and do things to that nature. While we can't do that for James Horton. All right, let me push back a little bit, 'cause I gotta give you the other side of what somebody would say to what you just said. We ain't bring James Harden here to be a facilitator. We brought him here to get 30. So I get basketball minds. You and I, yeah. Guys, that's been around the game. And a lot of other people, I don't want to discount fans and people that you've been in the game. You've been on the sideline. You understand how difficult it is for a player to morph into something else that the team is needing him to be. Ultimately, bro, James went over there to get 30 a game, bro along with Joel embiid. So how long, how far do you think they can go with him being a facilitator as opposed to seeing what we saw last night? I think it's whatever the games that particular game need him to be. What did you think? Because listen, listen maybe. This is guilty, medium swag. Here's the thing. You see, it's all it's all on the back of what tyrese Maxie is doing. If tyreese maxi is balling out, James Harden is going to feed him. But it's Kyrie's max he needs James Harden to lift him up. Okay, James, we need you to be that person to change one that you wasn't going for. Yeah. Yeah. And you know what I'm starting to see? Slowly but surely, I'm starting to see him look a little bit more healthy. Just think about this. When was the last time we saw James what drive to the basket through the land and international schools out there a long time? It hasn't been. We saw it in game 6 of the first round. Oh, sure did. Okay. So, okay, so he showed us that, so I'm like,.

"Was pretty bad or best neutral. In this, but yeah, it was he looked exhausted by the end of the game. Not always all that uncommon right for him to look very tired, but to this one looked particularly out of it. But he made some shots. I thought he was a big defensive presence and thought he did a really good job on the boards. Tyrese Maxie really came on later in the game and the second half, especially really paid well. James Harden is just weird. We've talked a lot about it. I just don't really know what to make of this. And then the other thing is Philly made a ton of three pointers, Danny Green went off, hit 7 threes in this one. So it's kind of, you know, you make shots or you don't, but Miami 7 to 30 from three, they have not been shooting it well in the postseason, so I'm a little like if you can get some points on them and you can kind of defend them and keep them from getting to the basket at will. It's tough on the heat. So I think as long as indeed comes out of this, okay, I'm assuming we'll get some form of update later today. This is probably a series now. Which I don't know what we were thinking after game two. This was definitely, if you like offensive basketball, this was not the game for you. Again, the way they didn't even score 80 points in this game. 79 points at the end of the game and Miami shot 7 for 30 on threes. Brutal. Brutal and 35% part of that is the sixers defense, part of that was just poor shooting it by Miami's part. But then so I look at this two ways. I don't think Miami will shoot that poorly again. I also don't think the 76ers will shoot quite this well again 49% from three on the night for the 76ers. I don't think you can count on 7 of 9 from Danny Green and 5 of 6 from maxi night in and night out. So I'm expecting game four to be much closer. I think it'll be a much closer contest for that one. And I think that comes together, right? And instead of this being 99 79, we're probably Miami's offense comes up a little Phillies offense comes down a little and we end up with meeting in the low 90s probably is my guess for score because yeah, but I'm glad we maybe have a series now. Got a Philly's got to get the next one because otherwise it's three one it's probably over. Miami only needs to get one in Philadelphia, probably finish this thing off, but if Philly can even it up tomorrow night, then we've got a series on our hands. Well, if it was three one in Philly's favor, it wouldn't be over. Yeah. Because of who their coach is. Well done. Well played. I've got to throw it in jail. Don't insult your next head coach. Oh no. You might be upset. Well, let's jump over to Mavs and sons. And by the way, so tomorrow is Mother's Day. So we had talked about, I believe we mentioned in our last show, potentially doing a watch along for that. My wife would not be too far if we did that. No, we're absolutely fathers and mothers that we were like, oh yes, Sunday Night. Oh yeah, probably I shouldn't do that. So what we're going to do, I'm going to be traveling a little bit..

"Your morning going? It's good. The games last night were entertaining. I had to be one of the more entertaining nights we've had and then be a season so far, so it was pretty cool to watch. But how are you? I'm good. Shout out to devonte Graham. I that was just pure joy. That's why we watch the NBA shots like that. Incredible stuff. I very much enjoyed it. There was that. And then right before that, too, there's Lakers Mavs with the game finished with like 5 or 6 straight threes. At the end, they're all went down, including Russ, of all people, so like, I hear what you're saying. It was a mavericks game without Lucas, like what are you really expecting, but ultimately it's the Lakers struggling to beat them average team without Luca, but it was still pretty cool to watch the ending. And to go from that game, it was one of those nights where the NBA had a version of NBA red zone or something like that. That would have been a pretty cool sequence. They have an MBA red zone. What are we doing? Honestly, the last two seasons, I don't think you'd have enough games that would actually be shown. Fair. NBA red zone. 71 point blowouts are 73 or whatever, so you have to count your blessings where you find them, but last night was pretty great. Yeah, I don't want to be a Grinch about Austin Reeves too much because that was obviously a very cool moment for him. And I don't understand real quick, how they didn't call a foul on that. He was basically tackled. Man got drilled. I would have been proud of Michigan was tackling like that throughout the whole football season granted. They weren't pretty good tackling so I'm not complaining, but yeah, he was tackled. And it was very strange that they did not call that Val. Yeah, very strange. Also, not the biggest fan of, I don't know why it's still like this now that I think everybody's back in person. The fact that Mike breen's calls on the shots going down were like before the shots went in. Yes, yes. And I'm kind of like, don't do that when you've got such great, you know, like the intrigue is so high, and it's like, oh God, I know a quarter of a second before the shot goes in and it's going in because Mike green says, bang. You know, it's a little bit annoying, but whatever. When Maxie cleaver banked his in, it was like a felt like it was like a full half second before it went in. So I was like, what is going on? Am I the only person who's getting this feed? But I'm so glad we said that because I was going crazy. Wonderful stuff. So we have a lot to talk about on today's show, Chris, and I want to hop right into it sooner than later. "These players that are going to improve, Luca might get better for the Mavs, but who else is? And I don't really have that player. I can point you. So I'm gonna say between M different and bad. I felt like they needed to do something, they're gonna be still good this season, I guess, I guess I'll lean more towards indifferent, right? I can't say it's good, but it's not terrible either. Yeah, and that's basically where I'm at too, because I don't think it was bad 'cause they didn't sign any really awful contracts or do something really dumb. They didn't go all in and trade for a guy who's only going to be there for a year or whatever. It just felt like this off season might have been bigger. I guess, and I guess we spent a year looking at Dallas, and I have $35 million in cap space and they're going to be players for all these guys. And clearly they were setting up to make a run at Giannis and then Giannis came off the board with his extension and then I think they read it right and said, we're not going to evolve in that Kyle Lowry. Stuff, because it's going to cost us a whole bunch of guys and then we're going to have Kyle Lowry Luke and not much else. There. But yeah, I guess I'm in the same spot where I'm more like, let's see. Where that goes. So you kind of alluded to it a couple of minutes ago. What's your biggest question for this team? How do they get better? How does this team get better? Look at their cap situation. It's not like they're going to have money to spend for the next couple of years. And I'm looking at this roster. I don't see a bunch of trade assets here. Now, porzingis suddenly turns it around and is killing it. Maybe by the trade deadline, that's changed, and they've got something in him that they can ship out. Maybe there's some other pieces, you know, maybe a team finds themselves in need of a bid and big and they can move Dwight Powell's got a very movable deal. Maxie clea, but does as well. But do you really want to move those guys and then rely on say Willie Kelly Stein to eat up those minutes in the middle? I just don't see an obvious path for them. Now you mentioned that trade exception they've got, that might be their best shot at really getting better. And even then it's not a huge I mean, it's a big trade exception, but it's not like you're gonna go you're not gonna absorb a $20 million deal or anything like that. No, so that's my big question here is how do they get better? How do they avoid getting stuck to the point where two seasons from now, Lucas frustrated and then the pressure is really on? Yeah, so I'm gonna steal something kind of that you said before. Who becomes that second guy and can it be Kris poisoning us? Can porzingis break through and be an all star level player this year..

Congrats to all those long suffering Yankee spans. This is primetime, Matt Jones and Myron Medcalf. But you can I just You just use the word role player. To talk about Ben Simmons is the number one draft pick. He was number one overall pick. This is a guy who again I want to say it was going to be the centerpiece of the James of a James Harden trade and you're using the word roleplay. They're playing Tyreese Maxi and some guy named for cause. Over him down the stretch like That's That is unbelievable for what he's supposed to be, and what he's being paid to be. It is and it also says a lot. It says a lot about Maxie because I've always felt like this. The guys who play at some of the blue chip programs. They they're not sort of call. Not scared at the moment. Yeah, And I think that Maxie kind of demonstrated that certainly, but I guarantee this game seven Who's playing more like Who's going to play in those moments, Max here, Simmons, if you're doing what you do want to keep your your doc rivers. Six minutes to go Europe five at home. Are you putting in Maxi or you putting in your $30 Million Been Senate? My $30 million. Ben Simmons is going to be on the sideline because I got to win this game. Because if you're Doc Rivers, you have no guarantees if you can't beat the Hogs. Then what's your longevity with this team? And if I got a guy Maxi, who's the right fit, and if you listen to what Doc Rivers said last night, he said he told Maxie to kind of be ready. So I think this is a transition that Doc Rivers has kind of been looking at. Going through this series. You're going to play him because he gives you a better chance to win that says a lot about who Ben Simmons is to that French Trae Young hit that Amazing shot that cut the game from 4 to 1. But Maxie was all on him. I mean, like, I mean, you could. Maxi couldn't have played better good defense, and it's easy to focus on the Simmons free throws mired. But he's also a non factor on offense. He scared to shoot. He won't take it to the lengths he doesn't want to get fouled. So like he's he's a 00 on offense down the stretch. Would you trade him this offseason? Would you do what you say? Would you try to trade in this offseason? I mean, would you train as values? Probably never been lower. Yeah, problem. That's the problem. Know what I mean? I mean, like, I have to say I'm a maxi guy Love him played at Kentucky. Man that was disappointing to see with Simmons where they win Game seven or not very disappointing. Now baseball. Course you just had the Yankees games. It's been changing no more sticky. It's important because I kind of talked about this world it last week. Covert task force. Covert task Force leader Jim Byrne optimistic about Las Vegas recovery Chamberlain, who used to be the CEO of MGM, Yeah, he's now working for the governor on the on the covert tassels, all right, And so he intends Article, Bailey Schultz of the R. J wrote this article. And it goes in that that was the title it goes into, say Jim Byrne believes Nevada Has a lot to look forward to, and it was a quote, he said. The hope is that we could make Las Vegas the health and safety capital of the world. That, I think is gonna help Consumer conference, which will bring people back to Las Vegas. I think it's a smart strategy. You know, Vegas always has. At the marketing strategy, you know? Yeah, baby, Stace, I forgive me, but I see here that statement, and I feel like I'm being sold. Well, you know, I mean, I think that they're just giving me fluff right there. Okay, so so he goes on to say you got to give you some meat here. I don't know what to say. Don't expect 2021 to be perfect. I don't think we're gonna continue to find a way increasing activity Las Vegas until we were beyond it. He also pictures venues maintained at an elite level compared to other parts of the world. I thought I don't think this is out of the realm of possibility makes has always been known for our ability to maintain a level of safety and so forth and properties that And so visitors to might even start taking tests before they arrive and land in Las Vegas That may become part of our package is that they make him take something out of this quick test upon their another profits. This could be part of the package of Vegas is that everyone here is tested. It may end up being part of what he's talking about. Hey, said. We're going on a few more months of frustration that doesn't feel like we're gonna be making much progress is we are meeting. It won't be as visible, but a lot of work is being done in the facilities in the hardware software in place to make sure that we could bring back visitors safely. Now because in the article quotes about 1.2 million visitors came to Vegas in December. That's a 64% drop compared the same period last year, so much less than half of what we had last year. So, So that's Jim. We're talking about. Just just he's a little more optimistic, and I got to say the one thing. The numbers haven't been as bad as they thought they would be. I mean, the state has already put out data saying, Hey, the tax revenue is better than we thought. It's not good. You know, we're not excited about it, but least it wasn't as bad as we thought was. The governor's gonna loosen us up next week. Maybe I hear rumors to that effect. You know, I'm hoping so. Yeah, I feel like we're ready for it. I couldn't agree more so So there was an article in a paper written this past week. By Buck or ago it's titled Penthouse Will set New Las Vegas record if sold. For $18 Million listing prices. Well, what penthouses this Martin turned the Martin. It's the whole right before the Martin floor. Yeah, that's the Martin was originally gonna be a panorama. But then they changed it. And that's the Martin right. Gandhi Martin Boulevard. Sure. And the unity soldiers the entire 45th floor. Wow! What's the whole top of like 12,000 square feet? On bits. 18 million..

This next story from Maxie Jones takes place when he's a teenager right after his mother dies Max, he told this story at an open mic slam in Detroit, where we partner with public radio station W D E T Here's Maxie life if tomorrow In February of 1978. I started the second semester. Of the 10th grade. That was on February 1st. On February 2nd. Which would have been my Second day of my second semester of the 10th grade. When I woke up to go to school. My mother didn't wake up that morning. Now that following week, I miss school, of course. While we laid my mother to rest and When I came back to school. Out a week or two later. It was quite different for me. Um, I remember that when I came back to school Really didn't care much to be there at all. It was a new semester and my teachers didn't really know me very well. Had this one English teacher's name is Mr Goldberg and Mr Goldberg would would ask the classic question and He would call on people and when he called on me, he would say. Maxie. Do you know the answer? And he pretty much like wake me up from wherever my mind would be. And I would say What? Excuse me. What was that? He would ask me the question again, and I would always have the correct answer. So one day he asked me to meet him after class and I met him after class, and he said, I don't understand what's going on, he said. You always seemed less. You always someplace else during the class, But you, you know all the answers you you've got all you did all your homework. And, you know, I just kind of explain him. What was going on? And I told him that you know the reason I came to school every day was because my mother made me come to school and now my mother's not here to make me come to school, and I don't really feel They need to be here anymore. So he said. Well, he said, We'll just do me a favor, he said. Listen You know, a teacher teaches eight. Well, they're eight periods in the day. A teacher teaches five periods in the day, and there are three pay print periods. Usually, the teacher will use one of those prep periods for lunch. And his other prep period, Mr Goldberg said. I want you to meet me in my office six period. Assignment him in your office six period just to talk. And then he said, Meet me tomorrow six period. And this went on and on every single day he had me meet him six period during his prep period. And I would help him great papers and we would talk and he would do whatever When open school night came I didn't have anyone to come with me. My mother always came to meet open school night when open school night came. My sister who had just graduated from the same school came with me to open school night. And my social studies teacher wouldn't talk to her. He said. I know who you are. You just graduated from the school, so he thought he was trying to play some kind of game or something. So when the teacher wouldn't talk to her, Mr Goldberg was standing outside the room. It came in. He said. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Talk to her. He sucks. I'll explain later. So the teacher talked to my sister and told her about how I was doing the school and so on. And then Mr Goldberg what he did after that was he went around to all my classes and talkto all my teachers and told him what was going on, and he told them all, he said. If you have any issue with Maxie Jones, come to me. And so that's what he did. And so went that way for the whole semester. Every day I met him at six period. And he checked on my classes and all that stuff. Would end up happening with that. The next year when I was a junior, he did the same thing. He had me meet him every single day and we talked and he talked all my teachers about whatever was going on with me. And he kind of let them know. Listen, if you got any problem with Maxie Jones, come and talk to me and and I didn't really realize that by the time I graduated from high school Never missed a single day of school and and Yeah. Sorry. My high school graduation. Mr. Goldberg was there and I asked him, I said, I said, Hey, Mr Goldberg, how you doing? He said he said, just feels funny, he said, I don't come to graduation. And I said Why, he said, because Because I teach seniors and he said no, he said, because I teach 10th graders and he said, I don't teach seniors. I never come to the graduation. So I said, Well, why are you here? Hey, said. Because I wouldn't miss seeing you graduate for anything in the world. And I didn't realize then. What he had.

Because that way, if you make any annual payments, you'll catch it where I've had some people say Well, look, I did you know, General February March and I multiplied times four. I mean, how hard is that? That to ask people to take 12 numbers? That's all it is, had 12 numbers. And that is the foundation of your retirement plan. So don't cut corners on that. It's so simple. You know, you shouldn't have to push back on that. It's so easy to do And then from that we can be certain. That if we develop a plan to hit that number, that number should include, of course, any traveling that you've done things that nature s O. Once that's all in place, we can easily develop a plan with appropriate inflation. Elements added to it in the future so that more income can be can be passed out as you go further down the road, and that's a simple thing to do, but that that is a part of the puzzle. Where I think people overlook the basics. And you know the old saying garbage in garbage out if we don't have a good number for your income plan than it's going to be a wobbly plan as you go for it. The KFBK Morning News
Boeing 737 Max returns to U.S. skies after nearly 2 years
"Well the first commercial flight of a Boeing 7 37 Max aircraft in nearly two years, said to take place today on American Airlines. Max departs Miami for New York's LaGuardia Airport this morning, ABC. Jim Ryan joins us Live right now with more so, Jim, let's talk a little bit about the criteria. What did the FAA use here to deem that the Boeing 7 37 Max is ready to fly again? I must say it is really Sam from Boeing, a redesign of the max eight aircraft retraining of pilot and, of course, the FAA did its own investigation and its own infections of the Max eight aircraft. But it's been less than two years now completely redesigned plane now extremely complex that some are saying that it was with the grounding was not long enough that there should have been further investigations. Some family members of the hundreds of people who died in those two crashes in 2008 and 2920 18 2019 say that they want the plane to remain grounded on grounds that they say there were improprieties in the inspection process into the training of those pilots. So no doubt, not just those families, Jim. But the entire aviation world of the entire world, for that matter is going to be watching this flight. And I would imagine subsequent flights with 7 37 Max very closely over the course of the next few weeks and months, And is there some sort of a time frame? That they're giving this and then do they plan on expanding these flights in the not too distant future? Well, at least in an American airlines, you know they're going to continue using this aircraft United in Southwest are other huge customers of the 7 37 Max. They don't plan to fly their new aircraft until early to mid 2021 next year. Alaska Airlines has just ordered several dozen of the aircraft. So yeah, Ryanair, Also Europe's air air air of Azaz decided it wants to order more swell, so there's no real timetable. That they all have agreed upon. It's the airline's making their own decisions on when they want to ramp it up again. So at this point to your you've got the flight from Miami to LaGuardia. Is that the only one today of the 7 37, Max? Or is that just the first one out of the gate today and that there might be Mork coming up either today or or throughout the week? No plans for today. But throughout the rest of the week, If that seems like that, like 7 18 Miami to LaGuardia will fly using the max eight, so at least we know that those will be in the air. The interestingly I talked with the widow of a man who died in the Ethiopia crash. She says that passengers should be checking as they make reservations to see what kind of aircraft they are flying on something that most people don't even think about. But she says that people should be doing that for their own peace of mind. She's not convinced of the safety of the 7 37 Maxie, and she thinks that past me or should make an important decision about whether they want to fly on it. Today's flight. We don't know whether it's full or not, but these air paying passengers of American Airlines Miami
