You can't just like skip a week or anything like that. you know. this doesn't go out live right. i know i know but This is money we're talking about. I don't fool around here you go. Here's a quarter quartering you. What were you doing out in the yard or just sending a few stakes down a little bit landscaping done. Well i mean i'm gonna do the landscaping i look at the time. I enjoy operating the machinery. Speaking of that. I do have a delivery coming. Does this involve some sort of trick to get me to go outside and do some yard work. Because i'm not on board. no. I'm doing the work myself because i enjoy it in between visits to other dimensions can be out there just doing a little landscaping operating little mini excavator. It's gonna be fun. Oh you're having an excavator delivered. Yes that's right. I'm renting one. Oh just for the week okay. So with that comes. While i'm away you can decide point. Just tell them to swinging around back rights okay. There were set up here in the lab. I'm gonna do my whole thing. I high i max. I'm an engineer and inventor and thing here is the bagel trying to thousand which i'm not gonna turn on just yet the bagel trying two thousand opens up portals to other dimensions have been traveling through these portals for over three years visited a hundred and fifty plus different dimensions. I want to say at this point. my log cured so there's been a few duplicates and Yeah it's somewhere in that ballpark. Something different worlds and yet. I'm sure i've just barely scratched the surface of all the different presumably infant dimensions. There are out there jack. Strobe here my roommate is actually from one of these other dimensions. As a the whole thing you can go back and listen to how that happened. But he's here now. And i'm looking up the on list here look right like why haven't turned the biggest two thousand yet the next patron that we want to give a shoutout to is somebody named fluker. Yes pflueger as an interesting name. It is rather unique. I hope you think nice thoughts about him. Because some of these haven't gone so well no they haven't. We did try the whole reverse psychology thinking. That went really poorly. So don't do that again. Nice thoughts so as i turn on the bagel. trying two thousand here in a minute. We're going to be saying out loud. Pflueger had thinking about our patron flu generous patron and hopefully the dimension that we go to somehow involve something good about that sound think. Someone's here. I'm gonna go check it all back in bit. Good luck on your trip. All right i'm going to turn sing on get going. We'll see when i get back. So turning on the battlefront two thousand. While i think about pflueger i'm saying pflueger and thinking good about the good things lugar googlers. Great lugar is the best. Amac's your bob. Cat is here. i'm just going to have him. Put it on the side yard. Oh yeah yeah. that's great. thanks all right. Two thousand is warming up again. He took pflueger. Puerto looks stable. All the rings the machine or nominal ready. I'm going through. Oh gosh wow okay hang on let me show my puerto here and then i'm gonna describe outdoors. Any birds die. You know. I do hear some mangy senate dogs in the distance but i appear to be in a very disgusting looking trailer park as a whole row of single wides laid out here in front of me in various states of extreme disrepair. I'm standing right in front of one heinous off. The roof is sagging a windows. I don't know if they've ever been cleaned. There's nobody around outside here. So i guess i'm just gonna head up to this closest one here and given a knock and see somebody's around you can learn a little bit about this dimension. Hopefully this whole dimension isn't like this. I don't know steps here and knock on the. Oh just just swung open okay. Anybody home hello There's no answer peaked. My head in. Here oh i think oh oh he hit it. Just hit me as a really not a great smell okay. But i'm looking inside. I think i see jack stroke. But he's is he. Hey are you. Okay hey oh. I think something may be wrong here. Okay the stroh sauce lifeless body. that's a still feels a little warm. Were where did it's not war. Remain alive but you should know. Kill them several days. Okay hollow graham jack strobe. I didn't hear you activate. No that wasn't shown. I watch the the crime. I read newer tech novels that the murderer often returns zia the crime. Not okay i for the first person i think back now. Okay therefore you are okay. And i called the rate first off not a murderer. I have never set foot in this trailer nor this entire trailer park before today before moments ago all those as our exactly whatever say. I'm sure it is okay. This is also. You appear to be strobe are you. Some kind of artificial. Intelligence officials don't l. k Are you actually gesture jober. Do you just look and sound exactly like Been hologram many of his memories as his last checkpoint which unfortunately was a month ago. But i do have most of his time doubt for mary's face plus knowledge thing. That's great. what should i call you. You can call me jack. Strove find jack strobe. I'm just gonna head out I don't think there's anything i can do here. Her the knock on the door opened up now if you ever year murderer i don't think this guy here even got murdered. Well then first of all. I'm going to need some facts first of all you name effects your name. What's your name name is max. Max max was that show for max. Essential for anything. Your names just. Max max can be bothered with more syllables. That's fine you over that one. The call yes. Jack strove the whole graham gastro as natural checks out. That's right. he's not. Actually jackson object strobe. Is this guy here. the right. So here's the thing. I was going to ask you if you had any sort of connection to the deceased but it would appear that you already. At least his name. How do you know the deceased name. Sir what'd you say. Your name was max. What's that short for. Max wait now. we did. This dance already. Haven't we the charles the hotel coup. You see what i'm saying. Pal is it. Max how do you know this. Man right yeah. How do i know this guy. When i did say earlier that i've never set foot on this trailer park nor in this very strong for yourself. That's what i told. Jester polygram here. So obviously i met jetro outside of the trailer park somewhere else. We used to work together was we were. Coworkers workers bud me first of all. Where am i. Man is second of all my name actually. This is probably seventh of all. Because i've done a few things. But since i came in here but regardless of what number it is the name is dirk dirk pflueger. Oh excellent detective pflueger perfect yet. Detective works too friendly thing. But you know what i can be bad cop. It's alright this is great a respected member of the local community. I'm so glad you're here because obviously what's happened here is this hologram has confused me for somebody else. I've never been in here before. I was coming here to meet the locals and to check out the local scene and i knocked on the door and it was open and this guy was just here unfortunately deceased so blessed with all of the deceased memories up to about a month ago it's loosely. Drew that max of jack. That's lease a lot onset. They were in a sales. I should say we were stable organization together and jack myself basically stole a bunch of clients from match max mad thing not a theft investigator or fraud investigator. Really a good thing. I'm not any of those. I only specified justin murder. So even if you confess to like any number of crimes today doesn't matter anyway. You're dead continue. So in addition to seal the number of max clients the best terms. Well nothing illegal about that. Last part i did not murder him though. Listen archie gonna like look for evidence or something. I think you'll find that. There's no evidence here that i committed any crime. Well first of all sunny. I wanna let you now something you probably already as everybody knows the first three rules of motor investigation. That's right location. Location location those the rules of real estate and your in the location that i'm in right now which means you're on the location of the dead body. I just wanted to touch base with everyone in my location before i started investigating my location. That's right rule number two location now. We'll get to number three. After i finished examining the location. Is this murder investigation. Is this real estate. It'd be surprised. I often the crossover. Now here's the thing sunny boy. I'm gonna need you to give the facts. Jack. that's right. the facts two of 'em specifically on facts. I wanted to give me something. That's not if that that's something that delight. i want to give me true truths. I don't wanna give me lie. Doesn't have to necessarily be in that order. In fact it's a lot more fun if it's not hanging you said santa boy and you also said jack are you talking. Which one of us were you talking to all right jack in the colloquial sense your jack. Not jack okay. It's also a little confusing because he keeps popping his hologram around the room. Kind of just seemingly randomly chevy stranded like throw me off balance. I appears you are armed straight. I on on low point a gun at your right now. Hey click sound that. We all heard just now wasn't enough to see new. Don't as me bro. listen. I'm gonna slowly take off my backpack through and weapons. What i would add. Is there for self defense. Only i'm setting it down. You can see had no other weapons. I'm not holes during anything we lift up my shirt. Oh wow in fact. I would've asked feed and not do that actually. Wow that's okay. well. I don't really need to see the bag now. Obviously not a threat out law to facts and in fact that's right son sunny boy sunny jack sunny. Just sorry i'll stop saying can fusing because he's jaclyn. You're jack you know what i'm saying. Third base. i'll call you jeremy. You okay with that max Short sounds great. Go ahead jeff. Okay sure fact number one. I am from the city of seattle. Sounders made up but go on fact or maybe not fact number two. I'm recording this whole conversation. That's felony Fact or possibly not fact number three is that i am a professional wrestler right. Now i'm not gonna guess which one of those is alive. Make sure that's clear. I'm just entering all of these into evidence. Now if any of this ends up being used in court and proving a detriment to the prosecution case you'll be fine and prison basically ally investigate that age. Old tactic called entrapment background. Check him and find the wasn't special wrestler. Say wow boylans like honestly can be any number of those. He's real good at this game. But here's what i wanna know maxi boy. That's right. jeremy. Mr travis boy. Here's the thing. What is that hold on the refrigerator. Handle this yeah. I see it as a smudge. A duck smudge looks like some kind of greece on the inside of the refrigerator handle jack but you know anything about this snow. I literally just walked in. Jack jack jack. The one that goes and i can see i around paper. Well that's is that it's not gonna happen any then let me just skirt that different part of the handle it all right Listen to him just showed up here. Maybe we should like. I dunno go to the neighbors and see if any of them saw anything well i was going to make a bit of a more thorough investigation. The contents of this fridge but a pretty much everything. I need to know by now. This cottage cheese shouldn't be this keller. I'm interested in knowing the neighbors of scene because they saw you coming. Maybe they saw going. You know what. I'm saying you probably. That's all right well. I'm just going to walk out the front door here. It's important to get a good smell surroundings. Hey wait a minute. That dollar game. Follow us out of the trailer. Whatever did you like activate upon his death. You knew how long he's been dead for would add as two and a half days. Couldn't have been meek. Because i just showed up. Well can you prove your absence grooving negative. That's another classic law enforcement technique. Ask him to prove a negative. They never can just like you can't right now. Say what's up nope. That's a raccoon. That's just the shoe. i think that's i'm sure that if you speak to the neighbors and the other surrounding trailers none of them will have seen me lough our next door. Who don't mind me interrupting you sir. But obviously you're man coming in and out of your neighbors house recently in the last couple of days does he have. Is this your watch. What i don't know know. I've never seen this guy before my wait a minute. You kind of millions. Talk hussein. sucks out that you look like this guy here. It's hologram year. You look a lot like him for like old wrinkly and gray suspicion seems a little suspicious itself them at. Can't you see that man in there. Who seems to be slightly transparent. It's probably just the drapes obviously has long. Yeah okay so you noticed. I think that's another hologram. Oh i just madrid. Give people the benefit of the third a bother. You say you need to your. He's a fraudster. What's reported to the landscaping crimes. Yeah that's right. This guy only does murder so there. We should be back with you in about a month now to the business at hand. This particular grizzly marta. The man inside that trailer right there. He's dead. I know crazy right now. She's still watching us through the window. I mean it's a big window. I you don't usually see bay-windows like that on mobile homes you do you. Hey you seem like you're living your best life. I don't think he's living any life. I'm telling you he's a hologram. There you can do it. Sturdy admits that he is allah. Graham who's gonna take me flesh and blood human or these holograms whole auster. That's right also. Have you taken a look at this long. It really does look needs mode does not my problem. That's landscaping crafts departments problem. Now i want you to really grasp and just take in the gravity situation. Meant that gentleman is dead. His goose is cooked. Yeah i understand. Ganders been pandered i understand. I'm the one who discovered the body. Now you just you discover the body. That is a real fun way to say it's not fun. It wasn't fun it's reached in there. I don't understand how you didn't seem to notice it at all just walked right in there. Listen here sonny. I've smelled death more times than you could ever dream okay. It's dark and it's changed me as a person. Listen we got to get ourselves back into that trailer right now and investigate the premises just a little bit more. Okay fine now really wreaks it yet. You heard mashed always gets his man and you sir. Are that man. Unless as i suspect you yourselves are in fact another hologram chest. Why why have. I just like that. Oh well that's the easy part of police works on terminating. Whether or not a person standing right in front of you is or is not a hologram. Listen i didn't murder. This guy doesn't look like he's been murdered. I don't see any evidence of actual trump shoot. I should look at the body lipstick on his collar. On my caller. What kind of color lipstick do you wear. I wear lipstick This trailer is packed to the gills with holographic projectors apparently surely there's also like some kind of cameras recording system like surveillance footage. You could just access and see what exactly what happened at good league jack here myself. Change the password since the last check was the face for this. This this this this right here. He can see that says my secret crush thoughts. I thought at every crush. I've ever had as jack in there. Were a lot of and none of them were the right answer. Well let me This is when the deductive powers that i developed over many years of training. Come into play. Hang on let me try something go that was it. Oh what do i. It was orange crush. That's not even secret. That's like the most popular flavor gone with grape strawberry. Those are secret. No one knows about those terrible hen. Man i mean i know it. Wasn't you technically orange crush. Well all right now time. For the moment of truth we're going to hit that play button and watch. That was the wrong button. That does that well the fact that you were the one who pointed me to this file tells me some you you're on the right value. Hit the wrong button. All right five like little. Try mother mom. That's a lady. I mean that's your mom or lady than you'll ever be what is happening now. Did you get the wrong file again. Somehow i guess that's our trailer jetro. I really need to call more often. Looks real excited to see jack. Oh wow oh they're just going right into it right into it. Oh berkeley i thought standards were a bit high o. k. o. But everyone seems to stop moving. She fall asleep well on top of him kissing and then moving to see my flesh twitching. I can barely see that. Most of your body is covered by mrs lugar. There ever got a romantic as. I'm starting to think not hit fast forward. Just hours of detective. Luger's mom laying on top of jack strove. She is a heavy sleeper. She moves she so slow down. Look or well. I mean how do those count is usually an presumably. They don't usually end with him. Being smothered to death. We stopped short death now. I'll be honest. I probably should have recognized that purview. When i first walked in here i've never known another woman to wear. How would you. How did you make a perfume smell in this place. I've got the nose of links or a similar creature. Obviously i did not murder this man. I reluctantly agree that this is probably go well. You would be. If i hadn't cut you in a blatant bald faced lie directly to law enforcement's that's right earlier on you told me. This whole conversation was being recorded. And i know that's a felony and you don't seem like you got the guts to actually do that sir. Unfortunately i'm going to have to take you in downtown ri- right okay. When are we just step outside. Probably yeah that's where my car is. Okay i'm good. I trust you on that. No need to restrain you. Well i guess we'll see. I'll see you later. Probably not hologram. Is that a podcast. Podcast boy is he. I think he may be my mother to raise standards. Okay exit this seeings. That's probably a good idea to push the button on my remote here puerto goes to another dimension. Which is where i'm from. I guess i could have mentioned earlier. Would have been a pretty solid alibi anyway. I'm gonna head back to my own dimension a bit of a mess. Sorry about that. Yes i am. You've got a lot on your shoe. What was screaming allah right. You can hear that's right. Yeah you the audio portal connection there. So no how right is a porta was opening up. You told me that my excavator was here right. Uh-huh and what did you call it about. Gatt yeah i mean that is that is what it is but You shouldn't have said that as the portal was opening. Oh what did you have to fight off a giant bob cat or something. Unfortunately in the other dimension pflueger met his demise at the very large pause of a seemingly. Rabid bob cat. Oh my wow. I think we'll have to be a little more careful when we're opening the portal. You think wow yeah. I feel bad about this. You should feel bad. It was distressing. Also by the way you were dead in that other dimension. So why bob cat killed me to no. No no no. I'll tell you later anyway. Everything's all shutdown. Xbox Is Coming to Your TV Without a Console

"There's been a lot of video game news lately but some the caught my years was that microsoft is looking to bring its xbox game pass service directly to television. That's correct the xbox game pass ultimate subscription service which you can of like microsoft's answer to video games as what net is to movies and tv. It costs fourteen ninety nine a month and currently gets you more than one hundred games on. Pc's and android tablets and phones all without an xbox console now microsoft says it wants to make the service available on more screens including working with tv's and the company is working with tv makers to embed an xbox experience to internet connected devices so basically if you have a tv and a good internet connection you can bypass the three hundred to five hundred dollars. You might spend on a console and have all your games stored in the cloud. This would certainly seem a great way to expand the xbox audience brett. I mean not. Everyone wants a console and right now not everybody can get the new console. They want because they just aren't enough out there. By the way cloud gaming could be the future games as google and amazon. Both app services running now and playstation has playstation. Now service that lets you stream games on. Pc's in addition to its game consoles amazon. Let you stream on. Pc's max amazon fire tv and on smartphones and google stadia streams games two. Tv's it uses google chromecast but it also streams games to various tablets and devices so. It's not a giant leap for a tv to have an app or a bit of software bill inside to do this. Yeah absolutely and it's interesting too because they're gonna also introduced a couple other ways you can Play xbox games. Microsoft said it's also building devices to connect just for streaming game so almost feels like a roku or chromecast but just for your xbox and it's also going to have browser gaming so you can play games on google chrome safari microsoft edge in the next few weeks. We're likely get more news from and xbox before e three in the summer game fester over because there's an xbox in but does the showcase coming up so keep listening in the days ahead as we'll break that down for you

'In the Heights,' a Movie Full of Joy and Love

"After a long delay its scheduled release due to the pandemic in the heights is finally out both in theaters and on hbo. Max monica. i'm going to start with you. What did you think of in the heights. i loved it. There are very few movies that already have in tears by the time. The you know the opening studio credit shows up just as the movies beginning. It's basically coco and in the heights and this one had me from the jump. It's just so beautiful so jubilant it is a celebration of everyday life is a celebration of the connections that bind us. You know as you were saying. There's such a huge ensemble and everybody's great. I mean it doesn't feel like there's a misstep in the whole movie and for me. It's almost a little hard to talk about without almost crying. So i'll try to avoid that but but i do love how considering that it was delayed by the pandemic and you know the hype for in the heights was already happening when everything was interrupted and so now it does feel like this big return it does feel like the celebration of you know the people who we rely on to get through the day and it's just so beautifully done I can't say enough. Good things about it really

Any opportunity as beneath you or it's all goes on learning side of the ledger and when you're at a position that position most important thing you're doing at that time. Don't look at it as well when i get done with this. I'm going to do this right. Don't look ahead with may. In fact be a stepping stone. But don't let it be a stone while you're doing it. Let it have all your focus and attention and dedication because i may not be seventy in a few months. I've been enough to basically my entire since the age of twenty three two jobs playing music. Right one lee street band in one with conan o'brien and his crew and i can honestly say there wasn't a time when whether i was doing comedy a sitting behind the drums or in rehearsal where i didn't want to as jfk used a move my thing along the lines of excellence. That was something that. I embraced early on. I was very fortunate to have the experience. Working with bruce all those years as a as a child to learn from one of the best right. You know one of the things. As i said that i fell into. I did my bit musically. But i fell into a situation where i discovered. I had abilities that. I never knew existed. Learn on tv quickly us. Everything the props. The people whatever jordan is one of the finest people i've ever seen on tv. And you know the thing that jordan. And i never knew this. I was new jersey yell a very capable young guy who loved drums a young lies. Neil i to talk about and how i did this. He was an associate producer. And i occasionally do a pit and whatta comic genius. Because he's was very of course area dining. Let's not throw the word genius around county. It's so well knowing then when he was in college. I guess seeing the bits that you guys developed a you know someone said you've got to see comedy. He's in court. Ona chemistry between jordan encountered. Yeah it's amazing. it's amazing you know. It's like a whole other level Stock we used to do a Go to have a beer. Got nothing to say to each other right. I'll tell you what i miss from time to time. I really miss the outrageous comedy stuff because it's so took me out of my normal sort of world. Right is a good distraction and like you know when we do the psa's and you know writer would come up with a psa at have a particular reading. And i was very very concerned that i do it. Just as the writer wanted it to go down and do it until it was correct and because this was a this is this is like learning how to play the drums. Right all over get. It was something. I really really enjoy. Must say oh good and you know your. Your advice is great. And you've said it throughout this interview could advice. Yeah you were always saying yes even when you didn't know even if you're like by friday. Yeah you were a great improv. You're like yes. I will forty eight hours. I'm gonna take shower you. It had to be new because it was five days a week. So is there is no time to really take anything in you know in a way so robot on a toilet you the bear. The list goes on and i can't i have to. I kept every rundown. Oh what every single one. Oh my god. Jo i did. Which has all the cross outs in the notes. And i saved them every day. Yeah it's an amazing document because it's like the history of ninety s and the off Television yeah shows and you know this this we did. So it's for me. When i was like. I don't know the in grade school and stuff so we're doing like three point active years and years and years before let's go to. Let's go to the park and draw three point respective like dad. Can we just throw a ball just like everybody else. I loved it. It was something because it felt like. I dunno secret knowledge or mature. And i think i've always wanted to be. I've always taken really seriously and just loved it and it feels like it felt like mature kind of like a little secret society that i was learning insider knowledge of you. Know it's it's going to be a grownup right especially as a kid right. Did you pull you aside and say mac. let's talk about. Let's talk about washes are. I gave you a cigar. And you're sitting around like smoking cigars talking about the gosh like a secret society that is. That's not us that must've picture of that. Join your guys societally rs. Yeah oh yeah. You're probably like teenagers when you were six. And so therefore who thought so time. I got to do a little side for our listeners. So you guys know max because of who's on instagram. Well if you're on instagram. you probably know max. He's under mac. You'll you'll let me today. Say to right again you'll nici and if you don't know him while he's got one hundred twenty one thousand followers that know him so you need to join us. Check out on instagram. But max is a primo illustrator character designer for in the animation community advertising work for many many years and dense cg modeling. I can't wait to talk about that because that is so to me to me. There's two heads of a of an artist was like that. I'm the cg model guy that is very technically based and all that kind of stuff and then. There's what i thought you were max. Is this guy. That was a consummate artist. Grew up with traditional media and stuff like that. Now you're mr digital to me. How did how did that outcome about. Let us know. Yeah i you know it's funny. I've always had a foot in both worlds You know like. I said up. Of course it study and kind of traditional skills and things but it was. It was always kind of balanced against technology. And when i was twelve or thirteen my dad was in advertising. He teaches advertising now at scat. Oh while this in fact is his. He's probably his favorite podcast it. What's his name last year. Bic m. i k. k. That mickey mouse like mick jagger. Tony stop it all right. And so he max. I remember at his agency as a kid. I remember he. He brought him to the studio once and he was like. Hey look at this. This is our computer. And so up. Until that point they were making everything all their layouts with paper and marker and sending things out to be typeset. It was a very analog traditional industry and that launched them into a brand new phase where everything got consolidated down to the agency side rather than you know having a outsourcing whole bunch of things to finish work and everything else with illustrators and every now and so it was really fascinating and i remember that making a really big impact on me. I remember seeing my first piece of clip art in illustrator that day and the girl on the computer like change the color teal to purple. And everybody was like. Do you believe that people how parted. Yeah yeah i you know what i just to throw in. I grew up in that time. Tony i both did. Obviously but i worked at a print shop and back it during high school sir. Speedy printing sir speedy. There's the chain wait. I had my banner printed. its speedy. Did a good job. Did you really be tom brennan. because he doesn't. I still work there But i was at this sort of speedy in high school. And i remember that where where There wasn't And it was maybe right around that customer that time when personal computers were starting to come out and like the rich had him. You know but this was a local speedy. So what we would do is we would literally. They'd right out the information that they wanted to be on this business card they send it over to it as typesetter who would then get good. Use their fancy machines. And find the right font. You'd have to request the font and all that at using these big books you know through find the right font and then that right size of type two on top of that. If you screwed that up then they'd have to redo it and it would take days to just do a business card glittery from this 'cause then that type would come back and we come to me and i would like find the right one. And and and design it on a on a piece of paper with whack so it literally wax the back of will stick it on there like And so he's already printed called. Yeah amazingly low tech and it would take days to just do your average and the use of the most boring most boring This was a doctor's office kind of a business card. Show my gosh but yeah what. What an amazing thing that the computer is done for natalie graphic design industry of course but now illustration and that came later. Yeah but now. You're you're one of the masters because you design brushes and and Ink brushes and pencil brushes. And can you tell me this. Why in photoshop. Okay we have man coming out. There's a pencil correct. And there's a brush tools and when you click on the pencil. It is the worst tool in the world and they still have it on there that no matter how many times the cs or a photoshop gets updated. They don't replace that they don't get rid of it they just keep it there and it doesn't look like a pencil doesn't act like a pencil. Nothing about it is like a pencils like digitized dot thing and yet i have to go to brushes and by one ear brushes usually and to get a real like a brush that looks like a pen rights and yet i we call it a pencil. But it's it's really a br. I have an answer for you please. It's from early early early. Like first version photoshop. Basically it was alias. So no anti-israeli saying no smoothing out the edges. It's black or white only and so the people who use that actually still. Currently you'd be surprised are accomplished artists. Traditionally a for anchors and stuff that often for digital inkers. Because it's easier to select the edges of a to fill things and then they work like i dunno twice as big as they as you think when you shrink down anti alias is for you so it's just it's an easier workflow It is really a very nice but it is. Yeah kind of you know current use case so there are people that use it and that's why they haven't gotten rid of it. Yes but you know. I also like pixel art. That's what it for. I'm sure if they had somebody like try. You know some some executive. God why do we have this pixel in here. Let's take it out and it'll make it run faster. Whatever and they probably tried to do it and there would be riots probably two years old at least twenty five years old something like that but yeah you can imagine for everything in photoshop. There's probably like somebody that would riot at burn house street if they took it out. There's so much legacy stuff in there. That really doesn't belong in there. I mean that's part of the reason. I'm in procreate for most of my work these days it's no no shade against photoshop. It's still a part of my life as is everybody who works digitally but like procreating is just really clever and stripped down in bloat and it's all kind of a modern fresh take on everything and i prefer it. These from we're here..

Well, he certainly wasn't. Like the muppet like nowadays like are the Sesame Street muppet at least. Now I remember my my nephew, who is three years old? He's a big. He's a big ELMO head. In my brother showed him. That muppet family Christmas special. Yeah, with with all the muppets. Yeah, but it was like a vendor's endgame, but for muppets yet had them up. It's. Up It's had the FRAG oils. That was it but. You know. And they all met each other Kinda for the first time. Is this really cool but? ELMO's in, but it was before like Elmo even had like a voice from like the late eighties. So? He's just a background character. In, my nephew, who is just like why isn't Elmo talking why? Why are they having an Elmo? Do anything I don't like this. Who are these other people? There's a rip off, yeah. So you know he doesn't like the classics. Distressing. I watched the show Tom men of a certain age starring Ray Romano, but that's not a new issue max original Tim. Two Thousand Nine to twenty eleven. Okay, pretty good show Tom I really think ray. Here's the thing I ever watch any of it, but I've read a lot of reviews about a lot I've read like two or three reviews about it, and it is weird because they all talk about how they're like men, Kendrick, just made like a bunch of bad career decisions Yeah and she's not in really anything good now. She's in this. She's in qube original. And they were. A lot of time to film it so his best. She's like I. I've been a rush so I. Better put this Qube. But they were pointing out. That the show takes place in twenty twelve, and that that was also like the height of Anna Kendrick's like popularity and success. Like! "Still cops and their civilization and they'll still do laundry right. It's just that the crime is out of control like that's sort of what sort of near future. I remember the first time I saw it and not just that I had seen road warrior before it but also that I had seen the things influenced by Max. You heard the way people talk about mad. Max and how influential it was in the post apocalyptic genre that. I watched it for the first time going like so. What is the Halfway Point Society Collapses? Exactly you're like is this about society. Classing is like no. It's a simpler story right about a cop trying to take someone down. Yeah you know take a gang down right and it's just in a world where it's kind of like yeah shits fucked up so when I first saw it I remember being not underwhelmed by by going like. Oh but this isn't the real shed a sure I mean it's raw movie and I watched it the times and I watch even twice in the last couple of days because I watched it once with commentary once without and I was really trying to apply to it. This like star wars thing of try to just pretend that the other ones don't exist your view this just as its own movie not even like fucking smits bit but as a light one hundred percent. Individual movie would probably have a better reputation if he hadn't made three incredible sequels afterwards. Yeah if it's got a good reputation. Oh totally but I'm saying if this was his dad alive p rather lane race being his evil dead wall his skills on display. I mean we evil dead great. Yes yes and we'll talk more evil dead comparisons in later episodes as we compare it to the evil dead sequels. And it's a pretty clear. The most insanely clear. Yes but this move right. You start out with like in the near future. Yes after the title years from now. It's striking just like the black on white. The music is booming. Mad Max and like chrome letters. He said. The title was literally. I just want something. That sounds cool is alliterative and took a your eight year like that. Must be the coolest movie Mad. Max Mad Max. I loved it. Yeah I think it was mad was the first word I ever said but you still Max is the second they thought you were. GonNa say Mama and then you just had but you have that like you know a few years in the future and then you have the halls of justice where the letters are falling off right and you see a street sign that says anarchy right spell the beginning of it is. You're like yeah it's so cool wall and then you see the sign amount of fatalities that have you have four pieces of just drooled sentiments funny. Is this anarchy. It's like A. N. A. R. C. Hi but you have like four things in the first five seconds that visually do so much table setting for like this is just sort of like the temperature of this place right and then there is the head cop who is shirtless wearing a scarf. And then you're.

"They anglicized that to Miller And then the mom was also Greek. Refugees from Anatolia disrupted in twenties by the population exchange. And they moved to Australia. Which was I. Think a country where it's like the great unknown. Let's go make a life right and the other side of the world now. There's one thing I couldn't figure out and I kept on looking for an anecdote about what the activation moment is but when he goes from being a medical student and a doctor to starting to make experimental films on the side. It sounds like he was making short films. I'll he was in medical so he made a short one minute short. That one student competition then. He went to a film workshop. Melbourne university when he starts where he needs Byron Kennedy. And and that's all while he's still in medical. Yeah he graduates. He completes his regiment residency. Nineteen seventy two and that year they found Kennedy Miller. That have you know. Production Company and so Y-. His first work was violence in cinema. Part One which. I desperately tried to find but is a twenty minute short film that starts out as a sort of like academic lecture run the nature of violence in films where he showing clips and talking about the way we process violence in the film as. Meta thing where the violence starts happening to. The professor faster and people were so freaked out by. They thought it was real. They thought it was a documentary. They thought it was filmed by right. And it had this very controversial reputation and played it a bunch of festivals but it gets distribution from an Australian Distribution Company. And they say and he didn't even realize distribution was thing. He didn't realize there was a pathway to be able to make films. You know I. It seems like a very Unattainable thing and they said you know if you had a feature we would distribute that too and the origin of Mad Max is in nineteen seventy one distribution company. When I'm forgetting the name of CEDA. George Miller Byron Kennedy. If you had a feature we would distribute this and eight nine years later they come up with Mad Max and for a movie that feel so many guys going. Let's just make a movie tomorrow? Not that if we could set it up overnight but mad max is so priority and so- spare that it feels like something that they rushed to the finish line. I watched we push back the release the release the recording this episode. Because I found in my mad Max box set. There is a two hour and forty minute do I have. This is the BLU ray box set. I have run with discs. Okay there's the high octane. That's Okay. So that's the one where there's A. Dvd isn't standard DEF FOR THE EXTRA Z. Me Its own desk. And it's called the madness of Max two hours and forty minutes just on the first movie which I watched very freshly. Why is it high octane? Can you watch it really fast? You can? That's an option cool. The actual answer is they released a box set after fury road were. They were like finally. They're all together. They left off a bunch of special features so then they released six months later. And we're like never mind here's the actual one and it still feels like it's not as good and comprehensive as it should be because there's tricky rights with to me. I forget there's something weird about it. The first one is the one that. Mgm has taken the other three are owned by Warner brothers in terms of distribution. Yeah they are but I think some it feels like they've never gotten the proper restorations. They deserve this. One is the Ross looking. Yes yeah ooh doors.

"Chris did have a theory though. One that connected to this idea that if you follow the tech you can find your broadcast cast intrusion purpose. WGN The first station that had its airwaves. Hacked might have had some disgruntled employees one area. I didn't explorer fully. was there was a lot of layoffs in the months prior to the incident to me. I feel like it. It's most likely someone who is also former broadcast employees in whatever capacity but there's no hard evidence out there part of the reason for a lack of evidence evidence might be this tension that apparently existed between the FCC's national and regional offices basically local cops versus national cops ops big footing stuff and apparently this may have influenced the effectiveness of the headroom investigation because even when the FCC office in DC we got a tip about a company where the hackers may have pre taped the video. The Chicago people refused to go and question them. We asked a former. FCC investigator about this. His name is Jim Higgins and he worked on all of the nineteen eighty s broadcast intrusions. Did that contribute to the challenges with the case. Yeah Well I. I'm not sure we'd call attention. I mean the folks here in DC where you know had some ideas about how this should be done in the Chicago guys. You know had some ideas. He is and and But they were the ones that on the front line. So they They took some advice that they didn't take. I think all of the advice you know I I. It wasn't so involved in that piece. What about the idea that if you follow the technology involved you'll find the perpetrators if your power is quite a bit stronger than desire signal and you'll override the desired signal in your signal will go out and said and we discussed you know what kind of equipment? It probably would have taken to do that. So we assumed somebody who had access to the means but we're not sure the motive did people have mentioned this idea that at least at one of the stations there had recently been some layoffs and the suggestion that there may have been a motive therein. That's actually now that you've mentioned that That might have been something that I remember hearing from our Chicago guys So even though the investigation never discovered the identity of the perpetrators the evidence was pointing towards an inside inside job and whoever was behind it. This was definitely a big deal at the time. Laws were being changed in the nineteen eighties to make intrusions like this. A felony there were growing concerns about terrorism and extremism more generally and at the time broadcast intrusions. Felt like they could become a part of that. Hacker is taking the piss out of the mainstream more serious issues. There is not a lot of hard evidence anywhere here which is why it's never urban solved. It's also why the story continues to come back to life periodically. It captures the minds of people who want answers including people on read it and you will not be shocked to learn that read. It did move the ball forward a bit in part by focusing on the bizarre contents of the video itself which includes a parody of a coke commercial with the perpetrator throwing a Pepsi can also weigh rendition of the theme song for the Animated Show Clutch Clutch cargo and then there's the direct jab at WGN which by the way stands for world's greatest newspaper Burl and this moment when the Max headroom hacker pulls out a glove and says we think my brother is wearing the other one but it's dirty.

"Without going too deep into the Max headroom origin story. This was a bizarre way of life imitating art a hacker dropping into a real TV broadcast posing as a character. Who is a fictional hacker? Himself Max headroom. Also this character that imagined and made fun of a dystopia token future where corrupt mega corporations used computers to replace journalists. It really is time for me to look for a new job. While that was over thirty forty years ago it still hasn't happened to emory. So I think we're safe for now. Point is this weird. Stuttering Virtual newscaster poked fun at. Newscasters offers end normies and no offense to chuck or other sportscasters here but chuck was and maybe is the bid of enormity. There wasn't yup anyone in the circle of Friends of mine that said. Hey Max headroom and so when this occurred it completely caught me off guard I was I was shocked. Did you ever fear for your safety. Honestly I did. I had a couple of friends. Tell me your worst. That's my nickname. You better seek protection. Whoever did this had to be pretty smart? Smart and sharp to do what he did But why he signalled out me I have no idea. Aw whether or not S- worse understood the point of Max headroom. His world really was flipped upside down after that clip played receive calls from radio television stations. Not only in Chicago but across the United States I am once it reached the Associated Press Press and United Press International Wire Services at the time Then the whole thing started mushroom last night someone broke into regular programming here on on channel nine the pirates interrupted wgn. and W T T W programming with a show of their own medium. That is no stranger to bizarre moments. These were truly his are delivered. You think about the whole thing very very fun funny to a kid. Maybe because the second intrusion got real weird food after calling out chuck's whiskey the person in the Max headroom mask who appeared to be a man also pulled down his pants revealing his bare S. S. and then a woman showed up also in a mask to spank him repeatedly with a slice water. The the person starts screaming. What sounds like Oh do it? This was not funny to Chuck's where ski because that that combined with the person in the video calling him out specifically for being a quote fricken liberal led to some questions. He wasn't really prepared to answer. People people started asking me Wall so the upcoming election. Who you who you taking nineteen eighty-eight? What are your views on this? This and this I just want want to be a guy just a guy on the street. Whatever his feelings about politics chuck had been thrust into the spotlight in a broadcast signal? Hack one one of a short list of similar takeovers that seemed to be growing in number in the mid nineteen eighty s looked at by some as a new form of terrorism. One on that even with its silliness and spanking was about to get very serious. The incidents are now under investigation by the FCC and the FBI BIAGI FCC. Spokesperson Phil Bradford went on TV at the time and said this it is very serious and we liked to inform anybody who's involved in this type of thing that it is serious and that we will take every step that We can to find out who is doing it and once we have Determined that we will make sure that The full foolish dinner. The laws are carried out the maximum penalty. "Chuck says he doesn't usually take his work home with him so as an employee of WGN he wasn't watching Ching his company's TV station. When during the nine o'clock news the broadcast was hijacked and then all of a sudden I started getting calls like a lot of calls? I mean ridiculous amount of calls. Hey did you just hear or did you see what are you talking about Max headroom. Yes what about Max headroom. Well I mean. He mentioned you wouldn't say he said you were a liberal uh-huh what come on I thought it was a practical joke. The person who is taking over the TV broadcast broadcast was wearing a Max. Headroom mask emory. You remember Max headroom. Yeah still not born yet been but at the time. Chuck didn't know him all that. Well well either. I really didn't understand this whole Max headroom phenomena. I mean I really couldn't relate to them. I had no connection so max headroom was this fictional character described by creators. As in artificial intelligence he was played by a real person in a ton of makeup to make him look sort of computer generated. I did and he also sounded. Computer generated his voice would like pitch shift and stutter randomly. This is Max headroom. He looked like a news program. Ram Talking head that floated in this computer generated cube and Max was a satire created to poke fun at the stereotypical cocky Western. Earn White Male newscaster. Here's Tech Writer and editor Alex Pasternak on these Super Meta plot that was created around. Max Headroom the character. Basically basically Max was a journalist working at a television station owned by large corporation and he had discovered some dark secret about the INC and was in the process of reporting on it for his employer owned by this corporation when he is assassinated donated and his brain is preserved by his hacker friend. The brain is loaded to the network and Max headroom became this digital character who would drop into television broadcasts. Okay this is the magmatic magmatic. Max Max headroom show and I'm cocky swagger Max headroom and it's great to have you back again. I'm sorry there's a guy keeps moving around over there all right all right well. I wish he'd this down while keep still for God's sakes I'm trying to show here you're in his original inception in the UK in one thousand nine hundred four. Max Was Pretty Alternative. His character was that of a hacked together robotic artificial intelligence one that existed to subvert the mainstream Alex Pasternak says both Max end the incident itself connected to to this rise of hacker culture. Hackers were starting to gain notoriety as as criminals. They were being prosecuted by the government but they also also have been born in this world of of Hobbyists and Pranksters and Max I think embodied the hacker who's a protester And who has a a certain agenda and is fighting for a good cause. That's part of what makes this whole staying even more cyberpunk when the signal intrusion has happened.

It's almost like he's the he's a chess player. Who sees the whole board lord one of those like he's like a bobby fisher like freakish at at seeing what he knows the next move yeah and so when you're the you talk about how he kinda like sets people lobban encourages you to look like an ass. I think that's only because he knows what you're gonna do. He knows he knows but he also knows like by doing doing matt he. He intensifies the scene and we are. He'll like add these things like think about what you're doing and and creates it creates more stakes than that scene in the near supersede. You took my conditioner where it keeps it real going surreal and like it drops you into a real place and then you know yeah you idiots yeah being as dumb as they possibly. Today played a character on tv for seven years who lost a lot of weight and the character is <hes> schmidt girl and the actor our guest today his max greenfield max is one of the funniest one of my favorite people bowl and <hes> has been a friend ever since i did a few episodes of the show new girl which i did before it was on the air so my introduction to maxes axes comedic genius was just to see in person <hes> and if you know the show you know that max max please version of of a guy who was formerly overweight overweight very overweight. <hes> max plays schmidt on new girl and schmidt the character was an overweight kid in high school and college and they're several flashbacks to this over the course of the series <hes> christian. I weirdly enough no the actual person on whom schmidt the character was based. Jonah hill is a friend friend of ours and joan went to school with a guy named schmidt who <hes> was not much like the character smith he was never overweight and lost weight no nor was he nor did he have the kind of a more flamboyant. How would you describe schmidt that they kind of like <hes> like like nothing like the character no thinking maybe it's just the name safe yeah i think it's liz meriwether who created the show with friends with those guys as well and i think liz just named and i think it was as simple as that although schmidt whenever jona would talk about his friends schmidt <hes> i had heard about so many stories about him before i met him and he it was always like integral to these funny stories so maybe that's where i got it from. She was always hearing. Oh and then schmidt did this other thing in my classic schmidt it was he was talked about in matt in that vein. You know like a character in that group so you worked on new girl like you said and but you have a very good time on that show. Did you have much much fun well. You're gonna have to wait and find out for the interview yeah..

"Are a few pieces there. It's all by Dan going. So let's switch really quickly. Let's talk about Costa Rica. Yes, you scored the goal that sent your team to the World Cup. And then you took your shirt off, and you root it for all the rest of America and the United States because you couldn't play against Panama. Thanks a lot. And then you let Tori score because you weren't on the field talk to us about that goal. It was about what you saw that game. Man when they saw that game. It was hilarious. It was crazy. Just watching the people from Panama celebrate in. There's no way that about went in notes. Johns nothing the referee knew that the ballgame. But under that pressure. He'd better blew it. Or you're going to be in trouble that strike right now in the pecking order of CONCACAF, it's I put Mexico you guys are there. And then the US are down. You guys are of course, ks the second at no worse than the second best team in CONCACAF. Yeah. To be on. We we want to get in on level that we can't compete against any team against team from Europe. But to to get in that stage in that level window. We have to be better in everything. Like now looking for to the go Cup. We want to win. It will never win it before. So we want to start like that. How are the kids are the the young Costa Rican? Do you see those good coming up? There's good, but then shelling coaster ride. You talk about this potential and Costa Rica, you talk about Mexico being top. What does I argue for a long time? Costa Rica didn't have maybe that next level and Major League Soccer has given them that next level to develop what have you seen or what have people back home set about Major League Soccer what they can seize the competition that we have here. The speed that different players that we play against because it's not the same. If you play your contract liens the same people every weekend. But when you come here, you're playing play against a lot of players. Different type of players that you got you have to open your mind on you're gonna learn a lot of things one I hear teammates, captain. But I he's a free agent right now. And we heard his name mentioned a lot of Major League Soccer team. All yes. Very good flair his style. Just to put type he can't play in Cincinnati. Okay. You can't say Cincinnati tackled style at Brian has pick one team where you think do well consolidated Kansas City, bring it all together ten amid wheel. Why? Ways that immediately. Because when was put in the question to get I was just thinking. What about him? Makeup. Espinosa rogers. I think that would do a great combination. And I want to go back to the World Cup when when you found out the United States didn't qualify. How did that make you feel because you know, the US busy was a bully for a bit to see them skip out that to that. You weren't you weren't you weren't crying knows really won't cry. I I wasn't happy as well right now. Because I was only thinking in Costa Rica, Panama, you were happy for them to the first Brighton. So I can't imagine they're they're feeling. So that will make me happy about qualifying Todo workup. It's you bring up an interesting thing. Mexico's obviously the strongest Mississippi Auricle team in CONCACAF. And but now you see the United States. What do you think happened to the United States that made them not qualify that you see Geordie? See it happened when you guys played against you're like this team is going down well against us. I thought that maybe that wasn't the usual United States from before may bid that was not so United like before. And now the new players young players coming in new coach. So I think there's going to be very interesting against. When we play against I e mails it. Yeah. There weren't it's United as they were before. Sometimes it's that simple. And maybe you see that those union is ally. And then I have to ask about Costa Rica because a lot of your players are getting older. And there hasn't been that next generation that come through has that been addressed in any event by the fed was the people in the federation or the coaches at all we're we know it we know that that's why you see the trying to put more young players theme, given given them more minutes on experience against teams..
