What is this and of course i by then i made a big deal out of it. Whole classes right next to my computer had I was shot. I read through it. What had happened. Was i had a relative that was A registered sex offender and Share the same last name and what. This news article was actually mentioned Supposedly he was going to be moving to idaho and mentioned Me and my sister in this article. Oh and so i thought immediately okay got a contact the network i've got a. I've got to get them to take this article down because it is not tied to me whatsoever. Nobody got back to me. And i was so frustrated. Parents were about to go and file a lawsuit like it was. It was fun. And i thought i'm gonna take manage my own hands and i realized at that same moment when i myself that i did not have much about out there. I think i had a my space back then faced now. Pretty faster to be honest with you. their six weeks left in the regular season Six weeks regular season like we saw in other sports so we just past the midway point over the weekend this is week. Four and We're gonna be talking volleyball playoffs here. Pretty quick Some soccer and a lot of sports coming up here toward the tail end of April and into the first couple of weeks of may when we will crown some Season be champions season be season see. I'm confused. I think everybody is given for sure. I will tell you. One thing though I broadcast the the eaten fighting reds in the university volleyball match last night. Those are two incredibly good volleyball teams. They are and really like what eating down here in the past Oh six seven days. They've beaten plant valley sterling and then the university match From last night as you mentioned. And i think in each case they dropped the first set. I know the last two they dropped the first set and then came back in one in four so this is a team maybe a little bit slow out of the gate find their footing if you will through the first twenty five thirty points of the match and then Kinda take over from there and no surprise. The reds are in the championship. Hunting class three That's always the case. University has a very good club. As you mentioned they will be there in the end and you might have seen the championship preview last night. A lot of other teams in the mix but it would not surprise anybody if those two teams matched up What may eleventh is the final date of the regular or the volleyball season so you could have seen the championship preview last night i i really wouldn't be surprised of it at all if that was you know talking with it. Also at the at the match on saturday with sterling the reds easily could have swept the defending state champs. But they just they they go through this cold cold period where the other teams can can capitalize. And that's what they do and they struggled for a second like. Oh yeah. I remember who we are but kevin talked about a couple of them. This patriot league is absolutely loaded with volleyball this year. Well you mentioned eating in university sterling's obviously the defending state champs and. I think they will be there at the end. They've lost a couple of League matches to raise christian and eaten. I think res- christian is a good team. Platte valley obviously has talent. They were slow out of the gate because of their Success on the basketball court and many of the kids are the same for both sports. So look for them to be much better in week six than they were in week one and then we gotta throw liberty common. I think into it because they took out christian last night in great five setter and suddenly their unbeaten untied with eaton atop the patriot league standing. So when you're midway through the season and you're still in. I in the patriots. You know you have a chance to make a deep so i think deeply got even deeper with results from last night. So when you talk about the three Three classification when it comes to Volleyball is there anybody outside of the patriot league. That you're kind of keeping your eyes on and got to keep your eyes on lutheran. They're always a top programme out of the metro league. Thank we had them number one. In our composite poll that was released a yesterday before matches were played. We put together the rpi. Max preps and the coaches pulled to come up with the Readings that we do there so they sat atop those polls and dss t mob. You was number three. But i don't think they'll be there in the end just because the competition they play does not stack up with the rest of the state. And then lamar down in the tri peaks. They got a good win over magnitude last night to savages. They were all freshman last year and sophomore a year younger. You're stronger if you will. I think they will be a factor. Come stay tournament time and then maybe even montezuma cortez i mean the inter mountain league usually sends at least one team to the final eight. It's typically bayfield that montezuma cortez has beaten them twice their unbeaten at seven. Oh and playing very good volleyball way down in the southwest corner. So if there's a sneaky team out there might be the panthers outta montezuma cortez yeah it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out because like we talked about has been a great couple a days you know maybe a week now for the eating reds while they were in court so they got a little bit of late. Start but they're coming in with a fire so far looking around northern colorado here Kevin any other volleyball teams high in the other classification That you've got your eyes on. Well let's mention fossil ridge to stay on the new talk here just a little bit because two teams match up tonight. They were scheduled to play way earlier in the season. But because of the quarantine that you mentioned they've Reset that one four tonight. Fossil ridge not in the five top ten. But that's a program that has a couple of state titles in their recent history there are also three no out of the gate so that's going to be a tough test for the reds again. Coming off that emotional win over university. Gotta worry about windsor in four a. I think they will be a team to watch. Not sure if you consider. Ni- watt out the long on area and your listenership but That's a good program. There third in class four a and Me they haven't played very much Just their second match last night because they've battled some covert issues but they beat holy family in a good match in four cents last night so the mavericks at good success in boys basketball we could see them In the mix four girls volleyball coming later. this this month an intimate. Anything catching them by surprise. So far with the season. See football well We've talked about class three which is typically mostly to a schools. They don't have a division for one because of the limited number of school so they brought most of to a up into three. But that's i think going to be the most competitive division and we got a little hint of how the playoffs me Shake out later this year on saturday. Rifle assault played in They've been one to alternating those two spots all the way through the season to this point but basaltic good statement together as they wanted thirty eight to seven so Assault easily the number. One team i think in the most competitive division here in the spring they also play glenwood springs a bigger school this week. The demons are also three and also assault gets my rifle like the Gets by glen would like they did rifle last week. I think they're the overwhelming choice to win. Class three with classical academy probably the number two team in that division and honestly think we say the developmental league. But i honestly think assault and tci would've been teams that would've pushed the likes of lamar and eaten back in the fall. Had they feel that a team in the in that timeframe so these are two very good football teams kinda lost in the shuffle where spring football is not getting a lot of attention state wide. It's really it's really tough because you're supposed to sign your junior year but my junior year i only got to play in three games before covid wiped us out and a one point seven year. Eight inch three games. Pretty sure my was zero. I mean not according to max prep. I don't think i actually gave up. Any real earned runs because you have people who graduated last year so the freshmen the sophomore juniors seniors and the super seniors who are coming back due to covid and then migrated so that would be that. There's like five years of people trying to get into the same team and if teasing gets canceled this year. It's gonna make start the whole problem over again. I mean for baseball. I'm going to find out january twenty fifth. If we're having a season or not man. I hope you do really do you know. I got an idea though. Former Miramonte tame male basketball players ages thirty to fifty showed up for open gym at their alma mater, intervene data on Friday night. They weren't there to play Hines or relive glory days. Instead, they ran the Olympic drill three men weaves, and the famed Mira Monte muscle layup line after two hours the last thing, these professional sorts with impressive degrees and young families. It was just like they did as high school players every day after school after each practice each time out each game for their team for their school for each other for their coach Tom Blackwood coach thirty eight varsity seasons. Hundred thirty eight victories, the six most in state history at the time of his retirement. He was a fiery passionate and personal sort who wore his heart on his sweat suit. Adored his players in the game and worked relentlessly and meticulously at his craft last month. Blackwood died from complications from pneumonia following Panama Canal, spring cruise one of the bay area's most respected basketball coaches was eighty one. The matadors were supposed to beat handily. He always respected his opponent. And always had us prepared. Justin said it was a labor of love. He always told me how much he loved going to work just inside. It wasn't just an act he genuinely loved to coach and teach. He never went through the motions Blackwood was born and raised in San Francisco, but moved to other ten he was the three sport star at Menlo Atherton and inducted into the school's hall of fame as an athlete. He was also inducted into Miramonte as I hall of fame class two years ago. Besides his big personality. It was the little things that made him.
