Russell Wilson still wants Antonio Brown in Seattle

"Elements so last week long time. Nfl insider. john. Clay said on ninety three seven. Bannon pittsburgh that russell wilson is lobbying the team to sign super bowl winning receiver antonio brown wilson's name has come up in trade talks this season Obviously he hasn't been fully pleased with the seattle seahawks. That's no secret max kellerman. What's your reaction to wilson wanting. I'm confused here. I'm confused because abc does not come the same discount. He came on last year. The bucks right. There's a market for him. Now that's going to be more competitive than it was so it's not just like give basically getting abc for free. He wants them to lure a be away from a super bowl winning team with a great quarterback who still doing it and a great defense and everything all the things that russell wilson was complaining. He doesn't have right. Like i'm confused. Because ross i thought this was about your offensive line which through under the bus or not having a defense. Well there's a limited limited resources in the nfl per team. There's a salary cap. So you must rob peter to pay paul for every cent you spend on antonio brown. You can't spend that sent on your offensive line poor on your defense and it's not like you don't have metcalf and lock it. You have a receiving corps so of course what quarterback wouldn't want to throw the ball to. He's one of the greatest. Whoever did it but given the situation. He's lobbying for another receiver. I thought that was about the offensive line or the defense

"That in terms of WHO's the goat, it's it's it's for his career. It's going to be Lebron. But what we mean when we say greatest of all time, it's Michael. Jordan. I gotta get to Thursday night football Thursday night football plan Raj Eighty Eight, say ESPN, how much time do I have left in this segment? You got about two minutes in this one is set it up I mean you can go. Eighty eight say ESPN here. It actually got women and I'M GONNA. I'M GONNA I have on my phone. This is coach Mackie's idea my steady buckets Ski Basketball Skills Development League in New York City my eldest daughter goes to it. and Bill Wolfe. EXECUTIVE ESPN. Refined this with mackey. And I am the positive of this idea. It's my idea therefore ready for this Raj. Three. Point plan to fix Thursday night football. We got a really good one bucks and bears tonight but three-point plan one? Only, teams coming off a bye week play. Thursday night game. Okay. So you have proper rest and recovery for the players. Enough prep time for the coaches travels easy. Okay. To you got to get rid of bad games on Thursdays right. Ready for this each four team division has its bye week at the same time. One Week is the NFC east the next week the AFC north like this that simple right? So Thursday nights become. Divisional doubleheaders rivalry night every Thursday night one division plays a double header with proper rest. Imagine it's not only rams seahawks, but it's also cardinals forty niners. Eddie everyone coming off a bye chiefs, raiders and Broncos chargers, right. Okay. So, you need an eighteen week season for this, right? That's right. You're going to get an eighteen week season. Because, you have to reconfigure the schedule a little bit first couple of weeks. No. One can have a by obviously like that. Then they all start sitting down you need an eighteen weeks season great. Do Three preseason games instead of four play one week into January. The owners get their longer season protracted interest in the NFL even if each owner doesn't get one extra game like they want. "On yesterday's Max, Kellerman show discussing Lebron James We're fortunate enough and I'm fortunate enough to have lived in an era where I've gotten to see that the greatest basketball players ever play the game and have competed against some of them So this is You know I'm I'm just happy to be in this era where ever had a chance to? Confu when when the Brian James All said and done I don't even think there'll be a doubt in terms of the greatest player to ever player sport was he will be it. Well I disagree with that because I don't think what we infer career value it's already between Lebron Kareem. Kareem abdul-jabbar in the Bron James or the two in terms of total career value. Okay. I don't think that's what we mean when we say greatest of all time. You know a lot of that. A lot of career value comes when you're older indyk line and you you tack on stuff you you kind of accumulate numbers and distinctions and pass different milestones of points scored and all this. For example, and Lebron James is clearly not the best player in the world, which is amazing. Just why I think he's he's already probably number one head of Korean. But like you'll see things like playoff scoring Lebron is the most way more than Jordan well, he's played in a lot more playoff games. I think when we're talking about Look Sandy Koufax is prime was better than Tom cevers prime but Tom seaver pitched a lot longer roger clements. Let's say pitched a lot longer than Sandy Koufax. When you say who was greater I think what we're really talking about is what how high did they hit? What peak? As long as it's not like one year like Ron Gidron Dwight gooden had single seasons as good as anyone who ever lived I'm talking about if they sustained it for a while Sandy Colfax had a five or six, but really four year prime that was unmatched in baseball history. Roger Clemens. Pitched way longer than Colfax never as good as Colfax. Colfax is best right. So for career value. Lebron's probably already got him Kareem. That's not really what we mean look Michael Jordan. Let's let's break this down offense and defense right? Ostensibly Michael Jordan's the all time scoring average leader. All Time including Wilt Chamberlain. Michael Jordan averaged more points a game than Wilt Chamberlain. Yeah, but that's just scoring. Lebron is big and he can rebound and he's a great passer assists and and he could shoot the three at least takes more and Jordan didn't shoot the three allowed to start his career. Yada. Yada. Yada Okay But P. E. R. is player Efficiency Rating. John Highlanders play player efficiency rating takes into account all the stats you like to look at points scored assists. Offense defensive rebound steals turnovers and it uses a weighted average. That's kind of rational and straightforward. To take all those numbers that people love attritional numbers and come up with an efficiency rating Michael, Jordan's four his career which includes. The last two seasons in Washington right. So real decline years bringing the average down. Michael Jordan's player efficiency rating. which takes all that stuff into account that you WANNA point to for Lebron is higher than Lebron's Lebron hasn't yet really hit his decline years. When that kicks in IT'S GONNA. It's GonNa make the gap even wider. So Jordan scored more but Jordan was also a more efficient overall offensive player than there's Defense Michael joins a nine time first team, all defensive player that's backed up by the analytics by the way. Not just by reputation. And he won defensive player of the year. It's better defender. Better offensive player better defensive player. What else is there the effect on a team? Lebron. James has been to ten finals amazing and his lost six. I don't throw away the first Cleveland loss I don't care about that. He didn't have anyone with them. But the first loss. MIAMI, he was crewed up lost to the Mavericks and the second loss in Miami at the end of the four years came to the Spurs. I lead a beautiful brand of basketball but go ahead beat it. Lost to them to. Forget about the first loss to the warriors no K. D. or Kyrie. It's ridiculous. Sorry. Kevin. Love Kyri. That's ridiculous. I don't count that against Lebron. Nor once they got K. D. Could Lebron come on? Let's be realistic. So the real to and focusing on with the heat. Let me tell you what Jordan did. The first time he played with a single other all stars entire crude never played with one other all-star until he got Scottie Pippen, who is not yet in his prime but made his first. All Star Team took defending Champ Pistons Seven Games lost in game seven because pippen had a migraine played forty minutes scored two points. So in other words, he was once again without all-star. Every other season his career when he played a full season with one other all star at least he always won the championship and under seven games. So. In terms of by the way, well, the Lee he didn't have to go through the warriors. Lebron did stop that. When he came back. His first full season back. He went through the Sixty Win Orlando Magic Shack Penny team swept them. And then beat a sixty four win Seattle team with Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp and all them. Stop It. So offensively. Jordan's better. Defensively, Jordan's better Jordan was more of a winner and better under pressure. And on top of all that the impression they each made on their contemporary audiences. There's a reason that Jordan sneakers still outsell Lebron's five to ten to one. Michael Jordan made a bigger impression on his contemporary audience than any athlete in the history of the planet. Earth. The contenders that we know about. Right. Babe Ruth once upon a time. And Muhammad Ali..

Lebron James Michael Jordan Sandy Colfax Kareem abdul-jabbar Sandy Koufax Brian James basketball Wilt Chamberlain Roger Clemens Scottie Pippen Colfax Ron Gidron Dwight gooden Muhammad Ali K. D. Max Cleveland baseball John Highlanders Tom seaver roger clements

"But the dodgers get the wind despite a shaky Kenley Jansen who by the way Janson is. No longer at his best but there are very few relief pitchers ever who never have a bad season like Janssen's never really had a bad like a blow up five era type season ever in his career. He was been really really good relief pitcher and I know he doesn't have the same stuff anymore but. He's been really good. It reminds me a Yankees had a relief pitcher, David? Robertson. who was a set of guy for Mariano Rivera for awhile and also like that dude always had a good year very rare actually. For a guy to consistently. Because of the smaller sample sizes you blow up once or twice a wreck. You know. So when you when you're putting up really good numbers across the board year in and year out as a relief pitcher that's not easy. There aren't that many guys who've done it Kenley Jansen one of them. kershaw meantime six innings pitched three earned runs, six KS and no walks. Up Three runs in six innings, it's four and a half era. Is Starting to turn the corner. As a big game Pitcher Kershaw because. I don't know that you can say that based on yesterday. Like well, there's a step in the right direction his era for the season. Is Good as usual. His era in the playoffs is not as good. I. Know Er is not the only measure of a Pitcher, but is a pretty good one. Pretty strong positive correlation between the kind of excellence of pitcher and the pitchers era wouldn't you say? Kershaw throughout his career and look. Just Percent Passat came on. I take today and I discussed this with him and he said look you know some some guys they have one or two bad outings early in their career it snowballs they get in their head. Yet but you know what? Okay that's their problem. Maybe in a simulated universe if you did a thousand simulations, this percent of the time that pitcher would be a clutch pitcher and This universe you don't have a thousand simulations whatever you do is what you did. So this whole idea of like but how do you really measure a pitcher's of -bility to perform under pressure versus just kind of some pictures? Luck of the draw had a couple of bad under pressure. But the, but the measure of -bility is really only important in so far as like it's not bad luck I. It's it's not it's not luck. Sorry. Sorry it's. He doesn't have the ability to do it. He just running ran at some bad luck and if you. Did that over again, a bunch of times sometimes, he'd had that usually he wouldn't know that what the measure of -bility is important and interesting insofar as you're trying to make predictions about the future. So if it's just luck based. A pitchers. Predicted what the pitcher will do going forward you'd have no idea based on what came before. But, if you believe that its ability based, then you do. I don't think Clayton Kershaw has just run into bad luck. I, think we can usually predicted kershaw will underperform expectations in the playoffs. Because he has. Consistently shown. That his ability to pitch under pressure. Is Lacking. For, whatever reason? Whether or not he got into his own head early in his career. There's really no one. Else's problem right? What he did is what he did. One of the greatest all time regular season pitchers in the history, of baseball. Kershaw like how many pitchers gave Kenley Jansen props for being a guy who never really had an awful season as a relief pitcher. Starting pitchers. Had A four year prime even with their basic they lead the league in the IRA. Every year in walks in innings pitched even a couple of those years in strikeouts. A couple of those years wins a couple of those years like that's what Sandy Koufax did. Most. Even of the greatest pitchers ever don't quite do that Tom seaver Roger Clemens. You Know Steve Carlton. Randy Johnson should give me a four year period where it's like, oh my God every year. This is the best pitcher in the League Johan Santana. Did it You'll hand Santana had a four year round where it was like, Whoa, every year this like the best or second best pitcher in the league. Kershow was even better than Santana and that for that. Stretch but he if you can't pitch under pressure with differences, it make. Look at the dodgers when they won the world series in eighty one Fernando Valenzuela who was twenty years old at the time. The game pitcher look at his entire career in the playoffs consistently over performed in the playoffs. Orel hershiser big game pitcher. Don't forget about the years with Cleveland when he was old when he was a young man. He pitched really well in big games. Had Two consecutive scoreless inning streak I stood still stands in the world series I want to say. Who'd he break Whitey? Ford had the record before him anyway. Kershaw's if I was not a big game pitcher dodgers ain't gonNA. Win The world series as usual. Aaron Boone coming. Under. Some. Heat. For having an opener instead of just a starting Pitcher, I, understand the move. You a young live arm a twenty one year old brought up Fernando Valenzuela was twenty years old when he was setting the League on fire you got a twenty one year old with a live arm. The League hasn't had time to study him yet. You're just GONNA, use them to hopefully give you clean couple innings. I just brought up Whitey Ford. He was twenty one years old. When he was a killer in the world series for the Yankees so I get Aaron Boone's decision it didn't work out people are on them. Not only I say well, it just didn't work out I. Say he made the right choice, and then even if you lose, you have Tanaka, who is a big game pitcher by the way for a game three if you win Tanaka closes you out if you lose Tanaka stops the bleeding it just so happens that this postseason something's not right with Tanaka at least he's not getting the results including against. Cleveland in that sweep. The Max Kellerman show the podcast. The Max Kellerman show on ESPN radio.

"The way is it okay to have Darius slay in dairy sleet and in the same league the same division at the same time WANNA corner in the wideout isn't that doesn't that get confusing to you Roger. I think. So we might have him on the line at the same time. I. Mean they got a big. Man You put you put Marcus Spears that you're supposed to get marcus spears on the line. You Got Marc Spears nonetheless thoughtless. Let's do one hundred snitch line. You ask for Marc Spears. 'cause you WanNa talk about the the goat degrading time. Allie even heard it. She knows I ever GonNa. Take today we're going to listen Raj I. Admire the Max Kellerman style lies you tell on the air. Believable to frame someone else when you screw up. wrote I invented that move I wrote it. That's that's from the Kellerman. One, zero, one playbook but I admire the way you brazenly lie I'm just saying. I'm getting text messages. People are having they're split on whose fault it was added to boast some in me, but most people are throwing you under the bus maximum. I like Marc Spears Marcus fears is the is the usual show everyone knows that but the point. The point is this no marcus I asked for Markaz. The point is this your right? If I try to get Darius slay on this show knowing you, I could easily wind up with Slayton instead of sleigh. Who by the way one of these days and draftking slate has got to come through gotta come through for me. All right. I agree with Daria slave what he said about the season I was very skeptical. A about the about playing season I think what he says what everything was going on. It's not just covert nineteen. There was also a lot of social unrest and social justice issues and and all kinds of stuff swirling at the time and a lot of athletes were. Not so sure they wanted to participate Stephen got very upset at Daria sleighs. Comment at least at athletes who say That, they didn't WanNa play because the League did give you a chance you could opt out. I agree with that actually. You know like coal mining is dangerous, but if you get hurt in a coal mine. As, long as the company followed protocols. That's like. Or if you get sick, let's say long term that I. I suppose you know that it comes with some risk. The problem is if if you work for a company and they don't have the safety protocols in place and you get hurt on the job, then the companies liable, right? If the NFL. Head protocols in place and everything, and they insisted the players come back. and. Then wants the players are back. There is an unsafe work environment. I don't mean like the way tackle pause unsafe because the work environment unsafe in the NFL we live in America you're allowed to take risks if you want. But you shouldn't have to take risks more than what you signed up for. And there should be reasonable measures taken by employers by companies to keep their workers safe. Even if the nature of the business of the work is intrinsically dangerous. So. Here what we see. Along along the lines, what sleigh was talking about is the NFL I fought with a week plan. I did not like the NFL's plan. I didn't think it was serious however just because I didn't think that ahead of time doesn't mean I can't point out they've done a better job than they thought they could have worth a quarter pole. And most teams have played four games, not all teams and it turns out that one of the teams that hasn't maybe their fault not the week. Having some kind of irresponsible plan? But the fact that they didn't follow lead Protocol League. Protocol the team didn't That's not on the NFL that's on the titans. Eighty, eight say ESPN. Eight, eight, eight, three, seven, seven, six. So I had. QUARTER SEASON MVP award speaking of the quarter pole. Right now I'd say Aaron Rodgers League MVP. To Me Mahomes is the guy. But Aaron Rogers is the MVP so far ahead of Russell Wilson in my book I think most people would have it reverse Russell Wilson one Aaron. Rodgers to Josh. Allen. Deserves mention and as always Patrick Mahomes does I know he struggled against the Patriots offense sorry defense. and you had a caller, go his way that shouldn't have. But meantime. Let's be honest. It's Patrick Mahomes like every time. You think he looks vulnerable. You go back now how many games seven games? Three in the playoffs for this season of seven games, he looked vulnerable quote unquote vulnerable in five of them. Seven. And over the Super Bowl and a super bowl MVP for all that vulnerability everyone should be. So I should be so vulnerable as Patrick Mahomes in the chiefs. But this kid calls in yesterday. And I want I'm going to get to some calls now. But before I do I, want the listeners I want you to listen. That's what a listener does. He listens. Raj. I want you to listen. To this kids call he had an opinion. It was nuts, but he was prepared to defend it. He didn't start out the call the whole bunch of, Hey, what's up? Blah Blah. Blah. He got to the point. And he defended his point an eleven year old kid got right off his zoom conference school thing that he had to do called the Max Kellerman show first thing with a real take. This is the kid yesterday listen to who we think should who he thinks should get vp Dean Roberts and Colorado thinks what. What's that Dane? Okay. So next I would just like to put one thing out on like I need know I need to know how old you are. I'm eleven years, old eleven years old even younger than I was when I called art talking sports, go ahead and shoot. So, I'm a big Fan I've been my whole life. And I think Dak. Prescott is the MVP without a doubt. The best quarterback I think drew brees is slowing down I hate to say that you know as a saints fan but Um, why do you say back in the day need to know why first of all did you just get out of school or online school or whatever you're doing? I just got off my zoom meeting Yep and I dialed up and yeah that's right. That's right. Good sports fan good good. That's what I'm talking about. They know what makes you think Dak Prescott is the best quarterback when there are guys. Numbers on better teams that win more that like why why deck? Obviously he's just a true quarterback, you can see these dual threat he can run the ball, pass the ball you've seen him come back Have you seen the whole play does it behoves do all the things that you just say that does? Mahomes does do that but I think that does it better. He's been in the League longer he has that veteran mindset and I think that really helps truly. Do you hear this kit. Do. You hear how well thought out it is. Now, of course, he's spectacularly wrong but he didn't waver and he came with it. No he said in a standard for callers for the Max Kellerman and I gotta say need to live up to I'm looking at the Dr Pepper call in line now. And some of these calls I'm skeptical about let me tell you what I'm looking at. I see Ron from L. A. says that there's a double standard of NBA Bands Needing to be upright. Ron. Hold on a second. Then I see Josh in New Jersey Four or against college athletes getting paid guess he's GonNa ask me about that's not the topic I guess I could talk about it and then Paxton Wisconsin says Green Bay will not only win the super bowl, but they'll go undefeated. Now of these three calls Paxton in Wisconsin gives me the most hope for a good call. That's what I would say. Therefore. We're not going to get to him I. I I want to start with Iran and L. A. and see if this is his dad. I think it might be surprised me go ahead Ron. You're on Dr Pepper call in line. Speaking following the rules, the NBA players, they're not allowed to wear their headbands with the NBA logo upside down. But if you look at each final game when you see Pat Riley when he's wearing face masks, the NBA logo is upside down I'm just wondering why he hasn't been called on. Cow called out on it or corrected. The the rules should be applied fairly across the board. I mean Ron. I Have to say you said it with conviction you didn't you didn't. Dilly dally off the top but who the hell is noticing that Pat Riley's thing is upside down but the players can't wear it upside down on the court. and. Why does that?.

"All break. You know I had those invisible lines Raj. Guy Had crooked teeth my. You know my parents were too cheap to get me braces. Got Me retainer which I never wore. And I. Play Dracula Yeah exactly exactly and and. The already like I don't know what I was thirty years old or something. I'm like to go get this invisible line and I did it corrected my teeth and everything and A. Should have sent my father, the bill. What am I going? To Shrink he could afford it brazen if you have crooked teeth and your dad's white collar and you get to be crooked teeth, I should've sent to the bill but the point is also they did not jerome no computer and no, not unbelievable I was like growing up in. England in the eighteen hundreds or something so. So What they do, what they don't tell you I is. On the bottom, I needed a little like metal piece that needs to stay their permanently. It's behind the bottom of my teeth right and if I don't get like a water pick or something in there. I get food caught in there, but you know like so the water pick broke like a week ago I haven't replaced it yet I always forget and now I've got stuff stuck in there and it's bothering me all show. So now you know that. It's very important. I felt. Now Raj enough about the teeth in the retainer. No one cares okay. Can I please get onto the news? Okay. Are you happy? Clear. New Show we WANNA know what's the latest on covert the NFL? NFL. Networks Tom Palacio reports that the league and the NFL PA. Are Looking into multiple authorized workouts involving titans players since the facility closed. Amidst decoivent nineteen outbreak. I think the titans should forfeit games games. Sir As long as this is ongoing, and by the way, send a message to the rest of the League. If you have on authorized. Authorized practice practices. If you break the rules, right like I'm not talking about someone forgets in high five someone else I'm about you plan you. You don't just practice all of a sudden. You have a plan to do it. If you have a plan to break protocols, forfeit the game, forfeit the game. It'll that'll people chill after that? You want to get to you want to crown a champion in the NFL. By the way and that that fixes the problem where I said I've been saying you the perfect is the enemy of the good. We're in the middle of a pandemic there's no vaccination. We have era. Political leaders. You know not not setting an example wearing masks and stuff people think if they get right now at the White House cope, it's all over the place we got tested a lot. We don't have to wear masks. No, you get tested, but you may have a false negative while the virus is not replicated in your body enough to get picked up by the test and you get a negative. So that's why you still wear masks social distance all this stuff. And that's a bad example to be set and the wearing of masks and stuff has been mocked the highest levels of our government and people take their cues and they don't take it seriously enough and they're the stupid people with covert parties and stuff throughout the country. So like we're in the middle of a bad pandemic over two hundred thousand Americans dead so far. Of Covert. And we're still playing football. That's awesome. Is a football fan right like I love that as a football fan just selfishly, it's great that we have football. But. You're going to have to accept the fact there may not be a full schedule played and I keep saying like maybe you go to winning percentages right if one team is a couple of games cancelled, just go to winning percentages and you may not be able to ever make up those games. But if instead those games are canceled and in all of the cases, which may not always be the case you can find that one team broke protocol. Then they can just force it the game. Canada's loss. The other team gets the win. And you move on. I mean, the titans have messed up the steelers schedule maybe they mess up the bills schedule. Messed. Up. Because I know why? By the way, it's a playoff team they went on a playoff run last year the chiefs had to come back on them to beat them. They have aspirations high. You know real aspirations trying win a super bowl this year. But toss follow the rules a joke. Speaking which Darius slay the Eagles Darius slay says, the NFL should not have moved forward with twenty twenty season. He was asked about the uptick and covert nineteen positives across the League and he said my true opinion, there's a quote unquote. My true opinion I feel like we shouldn't have even had a season because what was going on a difficult time. But when he got back to the video, the video conference, a couple minutes later, he said that that's how he felt before the season started and that he got more comfortable once he learned of the safety protocols in place. But as we see not everyone's following them, not all teams are following them. Like it's one thing if a couple of players break protocol, but if a team as a team plans to break protocol and have a practice. Hey Dummies, that's why there's protocols in place that you can't have a practice. That's why. Anywhere I understand what Darius slay was saying. By.

"Something else in there but but you know when you draw but also when you drafted Joel embiid. You knew that was richer. You knew the injury he was coming off of and then he reinjured it. He misses another year. So that's part of it which is like a pretty rare occasion where you said listen. We think he's the best player I remember being in Jim in La During Joel's pre-draft. I had not really watched him really much Kansas and it was before he injured his foot prior to the draft workouts. And when he went in and I just watch some two days in a gym in L. A. And just like I'm watching him. Shoot the ball in is is said this is like this guy. This is a key Malaysian. I remember just being blown away by him before any of the injuries and then the injuries came that next month and then we didn't see him again for a couple years. So and then Simmons Redshirt Year. So that extends this longer than I think. Even the plan was bro. Brown would always say I never imagined it was going to be. I don't think Sam Hinkie thought it would be this long. But they knew it wasn't a one year a multiple year process right. That's right and so I give them a little like I don't really phillies. Like sixers fans with it. They were that that they were with. Most amazing thing to me was that they had sold their fan base on this and especially in a city like philly which is a tough city. It is a tough sports town that when and I think even Bryan Colangelo it shocked him a little bit and I think the next regime that that the longing for Sam Hinkie and the loyalty that the fan bases connection to him that surprised. I think that surprised everybody. So that's one thing you talked about him being quote unquote saddled with Colangelo staff. That staff largely was in there. Well you know. They hired Ned Cohen from the NBA. Who's really well respected? And they they have guys in there that I think would be that I think are respected around the league. I don't know that it was. Hey I have that. I'm not sure it's fair to say. Hey Bryan Colangelo staff just met. You just had a bunch of people who blindly agreed with everything or I'm not suggesting that I mean if you want to empower in new. Gm IF YOU WANNA go into no direction you gotta let them come. Bring US guys had come up with a new organization. Neelam they'd given the G. League team. He had relationships with those guys. And Ellen knew that some of these guys had also competed for the job and that's usually a dicey situation. Where do you WANNA be shoulder to shoulder there with a guy who wanted your job? You got it. Is he going to be and he was fine with it? He really when you say like Ellen's guys. I think those really were out and can bleed and ownerships got a lot of say in Philly. You have a group of owners who are involved who are there. How many teams have multiple owners courtside each corner of the arena each night and so there's a lot but that's the modern NBA? And so I'll give you that and then listen to the last one hiring Bryan Colangelo Jerry. I don't think I think part of what got the commissioner's attention at that. Time was not just. The length of this was not just the length of the of the process but remember what was going on at the time. I always Kinda referred to that. It was a little bit like the Lord of the flies in Philly. You had all these young guys without veterans around for for without leadership being thrown into this and remember Jalil Okeafor has the off. The court thing in Boston and there was there was a lot of issues around lack of leadership there that were embarrassments. I think to the organization and showed like use the word rudderless and I think there was and I think Sam hinkie would do this differently. Now I think Sam needed to come out when he left decisions that he was making and problems that occurred with whether it was off the court. Stuff locker room stuff. He was always leaving it to Brett Brown to explain everything and some of them were not for Brown to explain. They refer management to explain and Sam. Hinkie should have been out front articulating that or taking responsibility. I think that worried. I think that was part of it too. And those ownership concerns too. I think Sam hinkie would be better at like a lot of guys would be better at it the next time in those areas. I think he would acknowledge some of that stuff. And so and then the Bryan Colangelo appointed by Jerry. It was I think the fan base was so against it and for obvious. Reasons the nepotism you talked about it Bryk. Langile was a two time executive of the year he had been executive with your in Toronto. He'd been second of the year in Phoenix so it wasn't like he didn't have a track record but obviously the decisions he made and none bigger than trading out of tatum and he thought. Nah I don't want this guy and you know to be fair at the time they were like there were plenty of people. I really respected. Who Thought Foltz was the best? Attainable isn't an athletic. But but was he so much better. That's where but to trade another to trade another first round. Pick to move to move around. Only a spot or two. In the draft is was he was exponentially. Better that you'd give another pet. What people felt that the war chest that had gotta spend that creek that capital when I say potential energy? You know the the rolled the ball up the hill. Now you can now. You can get rolls down all by itself you built up. Pinky rolled the thing up the hill. Now you have all this Connecticut potential energy you just push it down the hill. It's all you gotta you gotta you gotta spend it at some point. The question is what? How good are your decisions and Colangelo decisions? Were just bad. Those are bad decisions. I mean. They've minimized what was built up in Philadelphia. Yeah that's listen. He he did not have a good run there. I mean that's that's like no kidding so Yeah and that's and it's interesting because when they open their job when Colangelo was gone and before they promoted Elton brand they went after any number of high level accomplished executives around the league. They were willing to offer. Daryl Morey Bob Myers than you Sam Prestige. There may have been more. Can I say something about that? I don't want to argue that Hinkie's ways the best way to do it because I don't think it is. It is an effective way to go about business but I think there are more optimal ways than that. So if you look at the warriors organization they try to. This year is an aboriginal. Everyone's hurt they lose Kevin Durant and then everyone gets hurt okay. You're not going to compete this year. But their intention. Urine and year out is to compete. Even though they don't have the number one overall pick they identify talent. They use their imaginations the way the the Baltimore Ravens did Ozzie. Newsome do with Lamar Jackson. When you look at Steph Curry who ever built a championship team around a guy like Steph? Day Use their imagination then. They drafted him and they developed him and they developed a style of play around him. Same thing with Klay Thompson. He wasn't a top five. Pick draymond green so that is the ferry best way to run an organization always try to compete every year. Even when you don't draft number one or two or three do your best to Scout. Use your imagination and then develop. I'm not claiming Hinky in the sixers are the number one way to do things right. But they're certainly better than complete garbage franchises like the Knicks who who try to be good every year and always are unintentionally the worst team in the league and it's better than other teams to. Who's who are on first or second round treadmills and never really have a chance to win a championship so so I'm not trying to make it sound like that's the best way to do it but it's far from the worst. Yeah and I think it would be hard to replicate what he did. Just with the draft lottery reform. That went on the League. Made it harder you know now. The teams with the three worst records have an equal chance and a lower chance than the previous number one had but it went from like what was the twenty five percent. Like twelve and a half. Because that's why I don't understand why adequate here's the real when people talk about. Why would Golden State Brings Steph curry back? Well they're going to have one of the three worst records in the league and even if they have the fourth worst record or V eight is such a nominal percentage difference. And you're charging all this money. He wants the place. So what is what Adam silver really do there and this is. Why didn't like the interference with the way? The sixers running their organization in the first place. I understand about interference. No one's GonNa tell the owners get like no one can dictate to an owner like. Here's what you need to do. And your management like the suggestion could be made but the sixers they own the team. They know what the Commissioner has a lot of clout the commissioner has cloud. They can bring pressure to bear. I mean they still times fight to get the votes. They need the. There's a group of owners now and into the different generation of owners. David Stern had to deal with David. Stern made the previous group owners. He made them all rich. They bought teams for a few million dollars. They shut up and let it run the league. He made them richer beyond their wildest dreams so they let David run the league the way he it was like this is how it was described to me when David Stern was transitioning out and Adam silver was coming in somebody who made a really good point to me that the power in the league like if you looked at it is at our as our country or our country used to be. I guess the power was in Washington. The power was wha- in the league that is an example of power in Washington. It was centralized stern now. Under Adam silver it was going to become more state. The power would be just more localized localized. And that had nothing to do with the Commissioner or the style of it has a nature of the nature of both. I think that W- here's the. Here's the issue. The reason the process was effective and potentially dangerous to the business of the League. You have to look at incentives. There were perverse incentives in terms of competition. The way the draft was set up so when someone figures out the rules to the game. If you don't like the results you're getting changed the rules for example if people like everyone loves the style of them. I don't love this style of the NBA. I don't like just everything in in the paint. Where three from three point you know like I know a lot of people do but there are all kinds of rules. You can put in place to get the product you want Major League Baseball..

Russell Westbrook on ejection: I'm always the bad guy

"Russell. Westbrook Edna eventful night against those warriors. The good twenty one points at ten assists in the win the bad westbrook was ejected after receiving second technical foul in the fourth quarter. Here he is after the game stopped me guy but if you watch the clip obviously I hit. Lebron wasn't on purpose of I'M GONNA Glassy. Got Hit he says to me I said something to him. Standing there guy comes to national ball in my hand. You guys can run up to me. I didn't move but I'm always the one that gets payment bad guy in the whole situation. I just think it's unfair after all that. I'm only when I get kicked out. That's not fair. I don't care what nobody says. there's so many other people involved in doing so many things that weren't okay What I'm the one. That gets the tech jacket in everybody else's Congo supplied. All like I said I I take responsibility for the whole Marcel. To Heighten West. Goes hard every night? You GotTa Love. It's hard but stephen this point he's got a league-high thirteen tax. Are you concerned about him? Comply off times. I'm concerned about them. Here's a reality situation. I'm not concerned about him. From the standpoint of he is real and authentic as he is against West West but doesn't have a phoney bone in his body and he goes after it. But here's the problem Max Kellerman since Kevin Durant left Oklahoma City Russell. Westbrook hasn't been out of the first round. There's been out of first round. Not only that. He hasn't even shot forty percent from the field in the postseason the last three years. And when you look at Houston and what is expected of them right now. He's averaging twenty seven seven and seven. He's been an absolute monarch. He's been he's been sensational about it. But Max he's only shooting twenty four percent for three point range. When playoff Tom Arrives? They slow the game down. Defense is gift back. They don't give up anything to audit will give too much rather in the open court stonehouse some way. They're going to force you to take perimeter south now Russell. Westbrook is going to get his somehow some way but is it going to be through the high volume variety. That doesn't necessarily work. Come post-season Tom. You're going to have to elevate your level of efficiency. And if you don't do that plus your temperamental and it gets physical. He clearly is strong enough. Big enough he can be a bully when he wants to be. Because you got a lot of cats that scare him because he is Hiroshi but in the end that can work against you come playoff time particularly against some of the bigger names. He'll need to be careful.

"Suddenly got so good looking overnight, the answer would be, evidently, that is Sheboygan max Kellerman, sitting in for Stephen a on the Stephen a Smith show right now. My man is under the weather. So I'm pinch hitting. All right. Look, we got a lot to get to coming off a big finals game a game three potentially a pivotal game three. Let's see how this thing plays out. I'm here to tell you right now. I don't think you're getting K D back and without K D, even with Klay Thompson. My pick for this series was raptors in six closing it out at oracle. But you haven't had Klay Thompson, you didn't have them yesterday. And now you're down two games to one. You took home court. You gave it right back. Let's talk about what's really happened so far in this final series. Okay. The raptors have outplayed the warriors in game one where they beat them in game two where the warriors went on a run. But really the raptors lost because they couldn't hit wide open shots. And even then they played the box in one and people are complaining about it. It's a high school defense. Meantime, it kept the warriors scoreless for the last five minutes of the game last five minutes of the game. Before Steph curry almost turned the ball over. Luckily, wound up in dollars, hands, etc. Hits the shot to ice the game, then you gotta played in game three without clay. But I'll remind you that the first two games were with clay. The warriors got outplayed that makes three games you played so far. Two of them without clay sorry with clay and you've been out played.

Kerr calls Currys NBA royalty ahead of West finals

"Finals? We will see Kevin Durant to start the series. We will see Steph curry and the warriors facing off against Steph curry and the blazers Steve Kerr calling the curry family. NBA royalty quote, what a great story says their parents Dell and Sonya. Must be having the time of their lives. Although he says they'll certainly be conflicted over the next couple of weeks as for the series, and what we can expect ESPN analyst Legler, Golden State has more guys that can jump out and guard switch and guard little McCollum, then Portland has to guard their key. And that's what it comes down through for me. So I give the edge to Golden State. But absolutely think that Portland's going to be in this series. They're going to be in these games. How long it lasts? I don't know. And if Portland steal one out of two they're so good at home. Maybe this becomes a different story if they can get one of those first two games. There's no question in my mind, they can play with them for their super confident right now that they can battle in the way they're backwards. Play many believed the rockets were the big test for the warriors in this postseason. But it's the blazers out standing in the way of Golden State, the guys PTI, I look at Portland as legitimate team. Kevin is not gonna play game on. I don't wanna play games. I'll be does the series. Here's if even strength. This is what I would say to you that what Portland is very good at Golden State is great at and that's the difference. But if Kevin Durant does not not one game. Now play the whole deal Portland can win are different Charles Barkley on this show and his show and other shows. Charleston goes. I said what? Now. I'm sorry. Did you hear me Portas coming out of the west? State how compelling series, and we're gonna talk about Golden State gonna pick Golden State because of what I just saw him to Portland Tony is an irresistible team. They're so likeable. I know you're going to underestimate them because. Yeah. Spent the whole spring telling people you've never seen them. Interesting Denver and get your I ninety five dollar and to underestimate them. I'm going status cheddar, that's respect. Now. What spec them specked on your name? And whether or not you respect them. There are those roar projecting forward to a warriors bucks match, the NBA finals or max Kellerman on first takes us, perhaps we should pump the breaks out K D still favorites. I think they're gonna win the series, but without K D. It's it's tipped much more into a balanced series. This series is really this is the head like just as the east. It's now it's a wide versus the freak. Who's the best player in the world? This is which team has the best back court. Right. The champion Houston. We saw that. Sorry with chips on the line. That's not the best backward. They got out plead by the back court the reigning champs. Golden State Warriors. Splash brothers. Stephan. Clay over we got a new number one contender Stephen and the new number one contender is the Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard and CJ McComb. That's the number one contender to the throne. That is not so lopsided. You said Damian Lillard deserves to be all NBA overstep this year. Just saw this performance. CJ put on that's a worthy adversary for Klay Thompson bad man that let's look where the where the vulnerable without K do their best defender nowadays, by the way. What are they? You have a big who can play while. They don't have. Turkish hold on timeout. A second house Kanter on offense. And he wants it house Zach Collins, and he wants it wherever you look on Portland. Not only do you have a guy who can play. But you have a guy who plays with heart. We see the difference. These guys play with heart. They match up decently in many respects with Golden State. They can kind of do if not neutralize Golden State does do things some of the same things that Golden State does. One of the Western Conference finals here on ESPN radio. "So we've been talking all day about this. There's a controversy on the set of I take max Kellerman has been very good to us. And he personally in the show and he's come off the set. And I don't know if there's disgrace. I don't know if there's tension on the set but play for the audience, what appears to be the sound Michael Ryan of MAC speller men is coughing. And then we don't know who created the next sound was at Molly, Stephen a was it max was Bomani Pablo. Although they tell me Bomani Impala weren't there. But I've worked with von Bomani Impala could've happened with them offset. Let's see what this sound is Patrick Beverley has that kind of guy and he's feisty. He ain't scared in it. No. But the difference is is that dream on usually arguing and fighting with the so there it is max. Yes. I mean, there's a foreign there isn't max. Yes. Or no. There's a in there someone fought on the set of I take yesterday. I had a gory tonight. No. I you know, I I right before I got off the set. I saw this during the last commercial break, and I tried to listen for it. And I couldn't hear it. Even just now when you played in. I couldn't hear it. But let's say that there was that noise. I don't know who dealt it. It wasn't me. That's all I can tell you. All right. Very good. Max thank you for checking familiar with whoever denied it supplied. It you work coughing you're coughing. And we thought they would have no win situation is put you in a no win situation, doesn't it? But I, you know, I also it's interesting out. I take you are accused of using various words that you actually didn't use. If you're misheard saying something, and I will take your word for it that there was some sound and that sound- sounded like afar, and perhaps it was. But it wasn't made one last follow up question because he's very busy. I don't wanna waste any more of his time. Just play the sound for form. Again, you still don't here. It comes here it listen. But it comes right after your cough. You will hear your okay? And the reason it's suspicious is because it seems like something muffled in your face. And then it came out, the back end pack kinda. Kinda guy and he's feisty. He ain't scared NFL Israel. No. But the difference is is that dream on loosley arguing and fighting the rats you heard it, right? I mean, I also did not hear it. But I will take your work for it. And I will also look at the video study. My facial expression. I will say this. I will say this. No, I did not far. I have forwarded in the past though that is true. But that is that's not one of the. We could ask you a question about it that if that is it that the idea is that I coughed. And then it like forced it out. You cough. Wait, those are two different ideas. One is you know, what's going to happen? So you cost to muffle at the other. Is you call and inadvertently it forces it out, which one is it which one did you do yesterday. Exactly. I don't. I'm not sure I will. I will study there's a tutor. So I'll get back to us tomorrow. Thank you. Important is pleasant ways to that man's time. What was that monkey story Miguel? Thank you for joining us the monkey story. What did you make of what's to God's was reading there? I kind of agree with the scientists who wants to remove his name from the the lifting of the paper because I don't think you should be doing that kind of stuff, you know, starting to change an animal from what its originally supposed to be by injecting human genes or human cells or whatever the doing to that monkey's brain. Raiders' Derek Carr apparently wants to have MMA fight with ESPN host who questioned his character

"So Derek Carr the raiders quarterback who spent a full season enduring life with Jon Gruden. You would think that would toughen them up a little bit. You know, show 'em thing or two. Maybe Derek Carr after spending months of not being able to bite back. His head coach is biting back at anyone and everyone who would criticize me. I noticed this on Twitter last night MDIS wrote something about it a PF. Derek Carr wasn't happy that the hosts of I take max Kellerman, Stephen a Smith. Damn story. Thank you. Derek Carr wasn't happy. With them criticizing him. He was informed via social media that they were criticizing him. And Derek Carr responded to the criticism. The news of the criticism by saying it's because I blocked them both for talking trash about our team. Those two clouds don't know anything about this game would love to actually sit and breakdown film with these two on TV just to show their viewers. How incompetent parentheses lacking qualification? They are about our game. Now, first of all first of all. Why in the hell does Derek Carr feel compelled to explain what incompetent means? Right. This some random word does he think that incompetent may be too much of a fancy word like maybe people aren't gonna follow alongside better. Go ahead. And supply the definition. Thank you. Derek Carr for explaining what incompetent means I'm lacking qualification to understand it. So thank you. That was just weird. So then Derek Carr directed a tweet to at UFC and at Dana white, the president of the UFC, which now has a relationship with the SPN, which employs Kellerman and Steven A and car said he'd like to step into the octagon with these quote, unquote, clowns. Hey, how do I challenge a couple of these clowns on TV to a fight? I think we should start a business together. We're pro athletes can challenge some of these people to an octagon fight until they give us an answer. And of course, the first line of cars Twitter bio follower of Jesus, Christ husband, father and Oakland raider. Yes. Jesus would admit that. What what did Jesus always say? Turn the other cheek and then punch them in the jaw was that. It. Never keep your left low and lead if you're right. Yeah. Derek what's wrong with you, buddy? Look must most of the criticism of the raiders and Derek Carr from this past season was fully deserved. And if he's going to. I'm not a big fan of grown men acting like the little kids. "We went to commercial right with them. And we came back right with. Them because of your Yam running in the background that screamed what's happening now, which is what it should say on both the tombstone of your career and your life. He didn't hear any of that. Lebron James, Kevin Durant And Basketball discussed on The Stephen A. Smith Show

"I gotta tell you something. It's better to behold, if you LeBron and the Lakers, you got a problem because unless the man is Anthony Davis who with LeBron should make you title favorites. Who you get? Who are you to get? Who's going to be willing to take less to come and be second fiddle to LeBron or will abroad ultimately match rate to the point where he's willing to play second fiddle. If you can imagine him being in that situation considering his greatness. Kevin Durant is absolutely right. What he said from a basketball perspective, it is undeniable and as far as I'm concerned, anybody who doubts a single scintilla of what? Kevin Durant said from basketball perspective, you don't know basketball. Kevin Durant is absolutely right. And he wasn't disrespectful. He's talking basketball from basketball perspective, if you are great as I was telling my max Kellerman this one enough I say this more than one way to get a cat. This two ways. It's going to can you can defer to the broad or you can wanna usurp your LeBron. What if not there's the focus for you? What if? You know, it's gotta be about abroad has got to be about winning excuse me. Wait a minute. What if this about having fun while winning because Kevin Durant is having fun while winning or at least he was until that dust up with trae Monde green, which I won't impede their success this year in any way. He's having a ball because of their brand of play this something to be said for that. And I can't deny that now to get to his point about the media fawning over LeBron James. Customarily? Maybe religiously I come to the defense of my contemporaries in this business. I was a beat writer for more than fifteen years. I understand obligated in the commitment that comes with those jobs. I understand how difficult a professional athlete can make it for a beat writer. So is if fawning might be a bit too extreme too incendiary, but I do believe that when you the starve a franchise unless you're crazy like me as a reporter. It behooves you to have a really good relationship with the starve a team you covered. Otherwise, it can severely compromise. Your ability to get stories. So I wouldn't call it fawning more than being a bit helpless. That's the only way I would modify Kevin Durant statement. But I get ways coming from. Because the reason why it would net detrimentally affect a teammate of LeBron James is that because he's universally recognized as the greatest of the world, and he's been h straight finals and nine overall, and he's a three time champion, and he's a four time league MVP, and he's widely considered to be on a mount Rushmore basketball as one of the top two or three players in the history of the game. The problem that comes along with that is what he says is usually golden. And so as a result he's able to control the narrative and to compete against him as a teammate of his is fool's gold because his words are going to carry more muscle than yours, particularly when this guy is trying to become a media giant himself trying to go Hollywood with his business dealings and beyond. He might already be a billionaire. Plus he's usually still at near the top of this game averaging twenty eight seven seven at age thirty three with his in his sixteenth season. In the league, you're going to have people who look at him and say who the hell are we refute anything that he say, if you are an athlete in the same lock room you recognize that it elevates your level of frustration. Because you look at LeBron as being somebody who can do no wrong went on plenty of occasions. He has done role. If you think I'm lying just watching play deep. It's time to time. He takes a lot of defensive plays off. Not all the time. And he does carry a offensive load. So I'm not trying to disrespect them in any way. But there are things that team making complain about when it comes to him. So if that's the reality imagine having the limit every day, particularly if you're another superstar, you don't want that nonsense. You like I'm better than this. I one of these mid level players. I'm a storm. All right ain't got deal with this. So these are all things that you have to take into consideration.

Now, they didn't get PG did get a meeting. Nobody did. They got a fake meeting with lebrons people and not LeBron. My guess is they have Intel that Kalis not going there. My education us was that that's the case. And like sure there will be player x y and z that become available the next two or three years that fit better. I understand our inclinations. We can't wait forever. Like we. We just like Jimmy Butler is not thirty three. He's twenty eight or twenty nine or whatever it's not like he's old like he's the little ahead of time table, but we can't just sit here and wait for the next kyri Irving. The next twenty five year old star who is randomly available that wants to come to us. And I understand that. I also one of the underrated things about Jimmy Butler and something I'd like to see back in his game a little more. He's a really good off ball player like a really nasty physical cutter. Like kinda gets like just shove dudes off and cuts to the rim can just sorta duck in for quick post ups like that kind of stuff is going to be useful for him on this team. I'd like to see him kinda reengineer that part of his game. So I, you know, I don't think they're gonna win these showers down on them to begin the year and a high on a walkie for everything you just said, they just. Make sense. There's there's there's value in the NBA like it just makes sense like Janas and shooting. All right can roll with that don't have most aggressive tall player who ever lived shooters around. We don't got overcomplicated just do that. Brooke Lopez fifteen threes, like you're open just keeps you that makes sense. Anyway, you've got to go you have actual things to Mexico, and it's a joy to to talk. It's fun to watch. And I love this. You're all in on the NBA. We we gotta do this again anytime. Thank you, sir..

"Don't start warning contains nicotine nicotine. Addictive chemical before. I let you go. Gimme gimme quick thoughts on Jimmy Butler. The history of the NBA is the team that acquires the best player if they're in their prime still wins the deal, and I suspect that they won the deal. The problem is those telling Stephen A on the air the other day. Sam hinkie ruled the boulder all the way to the top. I saw your your your Unedic energy Connecticut's essential energy. So he created all this potential energy by moving that boulder. Bit by all the way up to the top of the hill. The Connecticut energy is when it's realized as it rolls down. Right. The ball is now at the bottom of the hill. Whatever you were going to have you now have and what you have to show for that half decade of work is Ben Simmons a great but flawed player Jimmy Butler who is ideally the third best player on a championship team. He's probably their best player on this team and bead who's awesome and through two. So he's sold. It's ridiculous. I think he's twenty shots again, the other. He's good. But you know, what the problem with that team is is. I see is. Embiid shoots. A lot of threes. Done hit him enough. He's not quite as good shooters. He thinks he is and the same can be said for Butler and Simmons won't even shoot. So I the long short of it is the Sixers didn't get enough for all that work because they foolishly got rid of Hanky and replaced him with a bad GM who who's biggest move will be remembered for sending a first round pick the other way. In addition to essentially Jason Tatum for Marquel fulls. And what that means is that this Sixers team will never win a championship. So they got a little better. Never not this. No, not with these guys know, there's not gonna show. So okay. So you're going to say this as a matter because it's all on the fringes in like in a practical. Speaking terms, you may be right. And you may not be they still have your Smith who hasn't played. And they still have the Heat's number one pick and twenty twenty one which could be and they still have twenty to twenty eight million in cap room this summer. So I'm just it's gonna take brilliant AM to pull all all of that is just to say. I I don't think this is necessarily it. I don't think they're boxed in they're not boxed in. But you know, once all those contracts kick in which is very soon, an L andbranch came on this podcast said we're not negotiating contract with Ben Simmons. We're just giving it to him. That's all like, then then you are close to boxed in. And that is where we're going to be talking about the full trade in twenty years. I mean, that's where that estimate had Tatum. Ten right. And by Tatum's not had a great year. But but Martin's all slow Stargate. He's he's he's not pump-faking free throws and having not all the 'nother trainers act. We see guys who we look at it and say that guy could be the focal point of a championship offense. Pete him as that level talent. Right. I mean like, I think he is. So like, I know he's off to a slow start. I disagree. I think he's a championship. I think maybe focal point town. I tell you why disagree, and I look he's twenty. So I don't know what the hell. He's gonna look like at twenty six right now, polite. But right now. No, right. Not at this mall can not gonna win the title. I was gonna say his playmaking is discouraging to me when I extrapolate. Okay. And his tendency to settle for 20-footers, which he has fought against the last three games. Clearly, someone on the coaching staff said to him stop doing this and go to lot of that is because they got he and and Brown absorb those Hayward minutes last year, and they had a point guard eventually who where the ball didn't stick with him. And so they had to move it. Yeah. So like part of that circumstance. I think in terms of talent if you put Jason Tatum next to 'em bead with Simmons on the team. And then you have Saric men and Covington whoever you're gonna get for those guys if you don't wanna keep them..

"That's ZipRecruiter dot com slash low post the name of this podcast. Ziprecruiter, the smartest way to hire. It's interesting use the words of the phrase thin-skinned because I do think one of the undercurrents happening with the warriors right now is a little bit of. As much as everyone there. I think agrees that dream on went too far. That's why he was suspended like the worst one downplays is no big deal be used to spend it the guy without pay. It's never happened before. It's a big deal. Sorry. It's a big deal. Is some some are taken aback by how seriously Katie seems to have taken the comments how hurt he an angry seems to have been because I think they're just used to like this dream house. Go fly off the handle twenty times a season. It's gonna yell at us us, really bad language that is not okay. And he's gonna cut. He's very smart about his poor choice. He's gonna cut you to the core. It's delivered straight on. It will go in a day. And I think there's an undercurrent within the team of while katie's really like it's really hurt. Like, this is this is a little this is like this is a little not faulting him. But just I think they've lived with dream on much longer than he hasn't assume for just like, this is what happens when you deal with it. And like they didn't expect this kind of pushback from Katie and part of it is what happened on the floor like Katie wanted the ball shake on him. And by the way, I appreciate Steve Kerr's fidelity to the like were better transition were just gonna go in late game situations. Six seconds is which is about exactly what they had win Draymond gets possession of the ball and his momentum turns up court. That's about the minimum amount of time. I want without call timeout. Because all you're getting in that situation as one pass one pass, whoever gets ball's gonna shoot. And it's not whether it's Katie you're clear. They don't get a thirty two foot or contested leaning those guys and okay shot. I I did feel like and I felt it watching live. I'm surprised I call a timeout. And is easy say none of this happens. Steve Kerr calls a timeout. Because that's not true sticks is going to happen at some point. This festering stuff about katie's free agency as it's going to happen. If your if part of your kind of tutelage in the league came under Phil Jackson. This is the kind of thing. He let guys do it wasn't fills for all the talk of the triangle, and how dated it became. He ran a lot of pick and roll the Lakers second time around, but he's not prescriptive. Like what what made Phil Jackson. Great coach was he was he wasn't writing prescriptions. Just do this. No, he's saying you're going to have to think the game you're going to have to work through your issues. You're gonna have to do these things and as much as Steve Kerr comes from Papa that you come from Phil Jackson and Draymond right to say. Hey, man, I've been making plays in transition here since before you got here and the players on the team are right to say, Draymond, right? And katie's right to say, yeah. You made a bad play, by the way, you didn't win anymore championships until I got here after that. First one, Katie is open. And it's the end of the game you kidding, just eatable. And I so I think there's a sense. Within the team that they're both right in there both wrong. And that makes me optimistic that thing get those two guys in a room, which was that you why do you want to be optimistic about it? It's bless interesting. If this team is junk, I talk it find optimistic. Well, you know, I want first of all to be listened to. They we have an interesting overall this what you just said is you don't want to be a juggernaut cetera. Like the weird thing about this is they came into the season, destroying everyone. And everyone on the team was like man, we feel pretty refreshing. Everything's going great. The group here is greater cousins in livened us. Again, we've got something to extreme with like everyone's happy. And then I think part of this has to do with Draymond who's brutally honest with everyone right being little self deluded. He is aging..

"Him in the way, we perceive him the easy story to tell was small town kid real nice guy country kid in the NBA. He's kind of down home and auto shucks. And it's just easy to tell that story. And it's kind of nice to believe it because you think it casts him in a. Flattering and away. And maybe even to ourselves and unthreatening light cast him in a way that people are comfortable with. But of course, as often the case the truth is so much more. Interesting K D is an angry guy. We see it at times. And as everyone is. But he is specially seems to be thin skinned at times we've seen him all from kind of guy who's fake in public, which we all are to one degree or another anyone who's especially in public. Life has to have a public facing face, but his in particular fake, Twitter accounts, and everything and he just never seemed once we really started focusing our attention on him comfortable in his own skin. And what I see from him recently is really interesting because I see the maturation of a kid nineteen year old kid when we first when he was in the league to thirty year old man, who's now dealing with things more. Honestly, who seems to have the situations that you know, what there's only so much. I can hide him. I will be honest at times, right? Like, it doesn't help me to lie. And I think the warriors culture has helped bring that Adam. Because that's the way they operate there. But the idea that he's just this. Nice get no that that render it neuters him in a way for people that I think is comfortable with. But in fact, he's complicated. He's interesting. He's angry. He's he's a much more interesting character than regionally gave him credit for. And I think it is instructive that guys like you who actually will go to the team and hang out there doing in-depth fees and try to reach a conclusion without walking in behind these kind of sumptious in generalizations that kind of reporting, and storytelling is important and more interesting than the kind of fiction we spend when we just don't have enough facts. I can't imagine how hard it is to find a good job candidate in the morass of resumes and job EDS that are out there. They're jobsites send you tons of the wrong resumes to sort through that isn't smart, but you know, it is smart going to ZipRecruiter..

"We would go through every playoff run and find him a place talking about finals matchup. Okay football than you can parse it anywhere. You want Bush show me another example of a finals in which the the second and third best player who were both all stars didn't play James worthy against the bulls. That's one guy out to guys we take off James worthy. And someone other than Magic Johnson. We might not be able to. But we would find other playoff runs with key players getting by the way, the always and that team always lost. So the point is it does make a huge difference. Okay. Look, they don't have to apologize for that. That's a championship not about him. It's about our honest assessment are honest assessment if LeBron had played them with Kyrie and Kevin love, and they were missing clay and Draymond the cabin. Right. And do we give the Cavs full credit for that? Or do we say they were playing severely depleted Golden State team, you give the cats credit, and you put you also have to descr. Honestly, what just happened? Right. So my point is they wanna championship year. But we know what that was the only reason they won the championship that year is they didn't have Kyrie and Kevin. They went to six games without their second and third best player. And this is before the seventy three win team Zach there is no way they beat LeBron James if he was crew deep that if he was fully loaded that year six games without the two best players. They would have been the favorites. But the right in other words, in other words, what I said earlier about Steph under in in the biggest situation LeBron James elevated a bomb squad to six games again. I. Votary losing team. No doubt. He was he was worth any to MVP level players in the league. Will what you're what you're doing is? Is articulating what is a very worthy rebuttal to the this is the cost of joining seventy three when team which is I just want finals MVP twice twice. I'm Kevin Durant. Give me the ball. Right. Well, it should. And then don't snap back at Kevin. He he's right. Kevin ranch right about that. But I disagree with you about on the premise that like all the idiots on Twitter saying, no, you get the problem with K D joining that team was that he's reverse engineering legacy. So in other words, but he didn't. And I think that's what he's living through. Now. He hit he reversed engineer the agency. But I don't think and I think he feels it. I think he feels it. I spent a whole finals issues of short funnels, all I did was work on a profile of Kevin Durant and the whole goal of it was I wanna figure out what makes this guy tick. And what I came away with was. I don't think anyone really knows including him. And I talked to I don't know how many dozens of people everybody on the warriors. Let me tell you. The warriors are great storytellers. Everybody talked about them. They know how to tell the story..

"You though, you're. Team your old team. Yeah. With the worst owner in sports who may now ban me. I don't know. We may have just both gotten banned from MSG, whatever I won't be able to wait ten Charles Oakley won't be able to wait ten minutes. Take the one elevator that they heard everybody into up five floors in like thirty. I gotta say though, the news the PR and everything is a huge over the old guys. It's they have they have I I they actually have been been good. And like it was during all that up just to say when you are hosting a show, and we had the Knicks rights and everything you're the Knicks flagship station, right? And all that you got to be rooting for the team. You gotta be optimistic. You have to look for some kind of optimism. So if you are a what had you describe it a dumpster fire tire firefighters, some sort of fire. It did stink. Maybe maybe tire fires even better. But the, but you gotta be looking for some kind of silver lining. You can't be all doom and gloom. You have to have some hope. Oh, Franken you'll Akina Mehta shot tonight. You looks jumper looks better. But I will say they gotta be doing backflips today in at mess G. And then wherever they practice in Westchester because I think this warriors stuff is real. And it was funny too. Text and talk with as many people on the team with the team around the team. I could over the last twelve hours. And there was there was an interesting division between. We've been through this before this is no big deal says dream, I'm being dramatic. No one's gonna care to this is strange, and this is a suspension without pay which they've never done before not even dream on when it curves in two thousand sixteen with Saulters right outside the door to everything. And Marcus Thompson put a beautifully Neth. Let it today. I mean Steve Kerr, I love him is a great coach. He goes up there last night and says, we don't talk about Kevin's free agency. It's not something we talk about it. I believe that. Maybe they don't talk about it. It is one hundred percent causing tension within your organization it has been for two years. And from what was written and what I heard that came up. I don't think it was the. Number one subject of drains tirade at Katie in that game, nor do I think it was the number one subject of whatever happened in the locker room after the game, which doesn't seem to have been as big a deal to K D is what happened on the floor, but it came up, and it's just hovering it's hovering over everything. So I, you know, I don't really know it serious, but at the same time like these guys should walk to the championship this year. They're just so much editor Matiur, I would say that of the Celtics could get it together. Still the words if I would say this Draymond green. It's an interesting team the warriors because the best players K D, but it Steph steam, he's the thing that makes the war. You're you've been definitively on katie's just better better player than stuff. I'm just not sure that's true. Listen in selects out for height because the basket is ten feet in the air, like, you know, the the taller player who's very skilled will always have the whole. Idea of small ball is really five out. It's not about the height of the players if you can get larger layers who can play that's even better, you know. That's why AD and Cade. When you think about the best players in basketball every single one of them. You have your top five will be better than six foot seven. Lebron James the best player in basketball. Who's number two? I would argue Leonard. But you want to argue K d do you want to argue the Greek freak or do you want to argue AD? You're talking about giants taught the top seven in the NBA right now is just absolutely style. But they're all tall except stuff except Steph, but I wouldn't say Steph is as good as K D AD or Kawai or more who else did mention or entity Janas, those very well done a wasn't sometimes I'd Shikin out onto the combo. Yeah. I did a better than me..
