"Guys who would really impact this line of make it a lot more realistic not just to go deep into the postseason, but to win the division because I think that should be the Giants goal from here to avoid that whiled one game wild card scenario where you're leaving a lot up to chance. Carrie Crowley journalists. Of course he is in a Pasadena. He sounds like he's in your backyard, but he's in Pasadena. So we get you ready for the final game. Two Dodgers and the Giants tonight, right here on the SportsCenter than the Pirates, and then it's the Dodgers again. Coming our way. The thing that's been really interesting. We were talking about this. Obviously, you get a guy like floor is hitting the home run, and Rogers gets the save and all these kind of things, but I think we all like bargain hunting. We like to go to T. J. Maxx and find things that others cannot find. And so that's kind of been what Farhaan does when at his stops, and this is what he's done to this point. So do we know we don't know the guy whose in contention and how aggressive will be because As you point out, you could go to the Cubs for an outfielder in a closer and Brian Kimbrel, But that really hasn't been what he's done. So do we have any sense of Will he go bargain shopping and have a big smile on his face? Or will he finally you know? Break out the pocketbook and actually, maybe go for something. If I had to take a gas, John, I would say that the most aggressive general manager in the division of the trio of Andrew Friedman, AJ, Preller, and Far anxiety is going to be a J. Preller. There's more pressure on him in San Diego to win right away, particularly with the off season moves. AJ Preller is not afraid to make the big splash. But Farhan Zaidi has such a better reputation of actually. You know his eye for talent, developing meaningful pieces to this giant organization. The Giants are 5.5 games in front of the potteries because of what they did during the off season and the Padres. The splashy moves that they made haven't necessarily worked out. Their starting pitching has been in shambles for a lot of the year because Blake Snell Joe Musgrove, they're just not going deeper than five or six innings. And so let's put a ton of stress on that bullpen. I would expect something under the radar, maybe a Marco Scutaro tight move, not necessarily saying the Giants are looking at an infielder, but that kind of a guy in the outfit. Field or, you know 1/4 starting pitcher who ends up having a breakthrough with the Giants because they teach him a new pitch or refine his pit shape. I think that that's the type of thing the Giants have done so well over the past two calendar years, and I do think that that's the type of move that they would make because they're also reluctant to trade Prospect Capital, and they're also reluctant to shake up a clubhouse. That's been really, really good. So a small Medium type edition seems to me the more realistic path for the Giants and the big blockbuster move to go out and get Bryant and Kimbrel or Gallo and Gibson and do it all at once. Well, they're getting Marco may have seen under the radar at the time. You don't win without Marco Scutaro knows that Charlie Culberson This year's group to to make a trade like that. Do you think there's any way in hell They would trade Ramos or Luciano. I mean, if you got you know, Bryant, would you give one of those guys opera Kimbrel, Would you give one of those guys up? And we keep hearing his name out there for a variety of reasons. Do you think they are actively including Joey Barton and trade discussions? I would say Greg. It's more realistic that Joey barges traded than Eliot Ramos or Marco Luciano because Joey Barton on the 40 Man roster, and the Giants are facing a 40 man roster crunch. I think that guys like Mauricio Dubon, Tyler Beatty, also potential trade candidates for the Giants. I think that you look down at the prospects Camilo dove all for a team that wants a young, controllable reliever. You look at Alexander Canario if a team has a 40 man roster spot and can put Really promising Giants outfield prospect on their 40 man roster. He could be included in a high profile trade because the Jack trying to get Evan Longoria back in the 60 Day, I l They're going to get Tommy La Stella back from the 60 Day, I'll Aaron Sanchez Reyes Meron to candidates to come back from the 60 Day. I tell you have to find space for these guys. So a two for one where you're maybe saying BT and do Bond, go for someone where you're bringing in a relief pitcher Bart MBT and do Bongo for someone where you're getting two guys back. I think that could be a realistic move for the Giants. Just because you have to massage this 40 Man roster equation. I know that's not the type of talk that makes trade so fun right now for Giants fans, but it is kind of part of the big calculation that, Farhan said he's got to make with all the different veterans coming back from the 60 Day. I l in the coming weeks. Yeah, that's a that's a good point. We're all looking at Brian and Kimbrel. And as you said, I don't think it's going to be that although Jim Mountain came on yesterday in the afternoon show with T gave me any throughout of three names, he threw out Marty of the Marlins. Of course he throughout Gallo. And then you mentioned this bitch. Hanniger is I love Mitch Hanniger. I think he's under the radar. I think you could even maybe throw Kendall Graveman and then the former A. He's having a great year with the sinker always had some injury problems. But Marty Gallo hanniger, What do you think of that group?.

Mauricio Dubon Joey Barton Marco Luciano Eliot Ramos Evan Longoria Tyler Beatty Brian Kimbrel Andrew Friedman Luciano Mitch Hanniger Brian Gallo Charlie Culberson AJ Preller Ramos Joey Bryant Marco Scutaro Tommy La Stella Farhan Zaidi

"But my tweet was this is like if San Fran was a uniform, the words San Fran, Whenever I hear a new player come to the Giants, and they're like I'm so happy to be here in San Fran. I just cringe. And that's kind of what happened with this uniform, Just like no, you know, centered a little bit. But no. And then I got on with my day. It's not life and death. You know, I made some fun with it. I got to call him out of it. I went and found the ugliest. A uniform that the Giants war for one day in 1999, that was uglier than that, And then you know, I'm not angry, but I think it's an ugly uniform markets and I know we're in disagreement on this, but Well, I think it's an ugly uniform. But I have a predisposition that I have to admit, like you have a really hard time. Uh, like upsetting me with anything that's orange. Like orange is just my jam like No. And this is where again you and I differ because you're Burlingame Panther like Sam until bear cats. San Francisco Giants Orange is my favorite fruit. There's an orange peel sitting by my foot right now here. At my house that I just ate for lunch. Like if you make it orange, I'm going to be like, Ooh, pretty. So that was kind of the way that I looked at this, but I also want to just wait and see what it looks like out on the field. So you know, maybe that's me. But do you not even like orange Fridays like do you want? Do you want the regular jersey all the time? I think Orange Friday is like radical for the Giants and as radical as they should get, but even Orange Friday the logo they're very careful to make things like little subtle nods. The way the stripes are done. They're like The way the stripes were in the eighties, and the Giants logo is kind of old school. They put them out there in orange, but then they push it back by putting a lot of things that remind you this is the Giants. There's nothing on this new uniform. That reminds you that it's the Giants like even that, G. I'm like where they get that she I've never seen that G on any sports team in San Francisco and I I like orange. I don't even mind that they creamsicle did it and made it. You know, I don't know why they didn't use international arms like the Golden Gate Bridge, something we can connect to. But if you're going to do a different orange, that's fine. But I don't like orange. With the absence of any other color mark. You could put on a pair of sunglasses that are orange tinted, and every player would look like their uniform would be completely white. There is nothing on this uniform. There's no black trim. There is nothing. It's just orange. So I thought the hat was okay. I mean, again. It's got the Golden Gate Bridge. I mean, it looked a little bit like appear three. Here's 39 half, but I like Pier 39. Alright, that's fine. They've got to sell. Sell the Giants to international audiences. That was okay. Mike Kruger came out in a hoodie that again It looked like a Gatorade hoody. But I was like, that's a pretty sweet looking hoodie. It looked better on an orange hoodie with white And I was like, I'd buy that hoodie, but this uniform, I just look at it, and I think it's going to look worse on Friday. Um, is that the first day? They're playing with it? Yeah. Friday and the Giants appear. Yeah, well, we've been told is the people inside the organization say no, It looks better. It looks better on the field that it will at that, you know, in the modeling shoot pictures that we've seen. If it looked better on the field. Then why do all the players who put it on and modeled for it Looks like they're in a hostage situation. Brandon Crawford, and it's because I found that 1999 Jersey It's just like Sleeveless Jersey was awful is for turn ahead the clock day and no joke. The Giants like created a jersey for what jerseys might look like in 2021, Okay, and all the players back then, too. It looks like a total hostage situation that this is true the city jersey when they debuted the city jersey for the Warriors in the seventies. Same thing. All the players like look like, Oh, God, so maybe in 50 years this will be the new City, jersey. The Creamsicle giants jersey will be sold internationally. And revered, but I don't think so. I'm not going to bet on it. I love that. You said that they look like they're in a hostage situation because Mauricio Dubon is one of the guys. He is at a hostage. He's being held hostage by Sacramento right now, So maybe that's why he has that look on his face. Yeah. Good point. Well, alright, well, okay, so fun to connect with you on this and and let's let's text Friday night. When we see what it looks like on the field. I would love to know if you think it got better or worse. That sounds good. We will talk about that. And I will dig up some old math department party. Photos from Out in the late seventies early eighties and see if we're wearing tough skins. And you know what? The fashion was back then I'm going to play kazoo on the show on Friday, if that's okay with you. Okay, you can. All right. Thank you, sir. Great to talk to you Always. Yeah. Good catching up. Have a good day. All right, you two. There he goes. Peter Hart lob the kazoo joke. He understood. Don't worry. You didn't. He did. My dad and his dad did And it was for them. Peter Hartlaub San Francisco Chronicle. He hates the jerseys. I don't mind them. At least not yet. I want to see him on the field. Plus, I love orange period. No questions asked. My daughter said the same thing that, he said, which is little black trim. Might have made this whole thing work a little bit better. I'm open to that idea. "In many ways that that took place historical park, but one time we'll cut you some slack one time. For fans who are just getting used to getting back in the ballpark with 30,000 plus We can understand it the greater atrocity from Monday I think that many people will agree with this. The city connect uniforms. That were released by Nike released by the San Francisco Giants. Pumped up on the T V broadcast by John Miller and Mike Kruk. Oh, great company men If you haven't seen the picture of John Miller and Mike Kruger, wearing the city connects sweatshirts and the hats Please check that out. Because It is quite something the orange creamsicle color scheme that the Giants are using with these city connect uniforms. I don't know any other way to say it, but It's not attractive. It's not a good look and social media was a blaze. Lot of people very upset with the design that Nike came up with to honor the connection between the Giants in the city of San Francisco that's existed for well over 60 years. And look, I get it. And at first I thought, Okay, This is probably overblown. People are making too much of a big deal about these jerseys. How bad could they possibly be? They're just gonna wear them for a weekend or whatever. You'll forget 2030 years from now that they even wore these jerseys. You'll go back to some highlight, you'll see. Oh yeah, those awful city connect uniforms. They were in those for three days but buried in that press release. Was the note that the Giants to wear these on Tuesday nights at home for the rest of the season. Don't know if I've seen any other team using their city connect uniforms as much as the Giants plan to do during the second half. Look, I think Nike got it right with a few of them. The Chicago White Sox Southside uniforms are sick. Those jerseys are awesome. Those are a great connection between The city of Chicago on the South side. I thought that was really cool. The Serbian these uniforms that the D backs have with the gold look kind of faded, but those were really cool. The city connect uniforms that the Giants have They're worthy of wearing once or twice for the novelty of them, but every Tuesday for the rest of the season. The Giants host the Dodgers on July 27th City connect Giants host the D backs August 10th City connect the Mets August 17th City connect But the final week of the regular season 28th of September they'll be in their city connect jerseys. I I mean, some of the social media commentary was pretty funny, too. I when there was the shop that Nike put out of, like Brandon Crawford, Mauricio Dubon, Buster Posey, Ellis, Anakin, all in the city connect jerseys together. People were saying it looked like half the Giants team had died and gone to heaven. And that's exactly what it look like. I mean, That was tough. That was tough to see. And like I said, I don't think I hate these jerseys as much as everyone else. I love the golden Gate patch on the side. I think that it is nice when you work in an alternate uniform once or twice a season. Few weeks ago on Juneteenth when the Giants war Tribute to the Negro leagues. Those uniforms were awesome. That was exactly what you want. In an alternate jersey, where at once. Great. Honor some history. You are an actual connection with the city of San Francisco that existed 75 years ago. I love that. I would have been totally fine seeing these golden Gate bridge and fog jerseys. Once twice, maybe a whole weekend series like a peacock. Series like they had on T V. We can put up with that. But every Tuesday for the rest of the season come on. Kevin Gausman Giants starter was asked what he thought of the city connect jerseys. After his start on Monday, and he had a pretty good idea. Let's hear it. Yeah, I think it's about 22 weeks ago. Um Yeah. You know, they're super cool. Super unique. Um, you know, I was joking. I think they probably could have made him a little bit more, uh, like loud, You know, I think the fog is a little I think there's just so much more that goes into the city and in the fog, But you know, that's just my personal opinion. I think they should address this up like prisoners at Alcatraz or something like I thought that would have been great. But I don't make those decisions. So you know, but it will be sweet. You know, I think the fans are really like, um like having the orange the go the golden Gate on the sleeve like super cool, and, uh, I think the fans will enjoy seeing Well. Hire Kevin Gausman, Nike hire Kevin Gausman. The fans aren't going to like him. We've already heard that much from the text line 415, pointing out the orange color used on the jerseys of the international orange of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sure, that was Nike's intention. Does that look like the international orange from the Golden Gate Bridge? Sure didn't to me. No. So the city connect jerseys will be a hot topic of conversation around San Francisco this weekend, and then I figured they'd fade. It appears that every Tuesday for the rest of the year It will still be a hot topic. Lot of Giants talk coming up. We're going to keep things focused on the team on what this club needs to do before the All Star break and what we could see later on in July. Some of the concerns have cropped up for me after being down in Phoenix, watching this team closely against the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend, Carrie Crowley sitting in for Adam Copeland, you're listening to the leadoff spot can be RD sports leader. We didn't get this to you yesterday. This was actually after I believe the first game. And, um Mauricio de Bond about locker. We talked about the chemistry in the locker room. This is, uh what Mauricio Dubon says makes the clubhouse students a locker room, the clubhouse so good for the Giants. It's been fun has been really fun. Especially because we've got great people, guys. Um, uh, I'm sorry, but we don't have any freak. So that's the good pick up later. We've been we've been having guys that now hopefully charge And all the guys moment comes. I get pink hair dye for Doug are for somebody else. Get it out. I teach it. Hey, come on. That can't bring it in like we got Really great group of guys and incorporate China. That really is the key to any positive work environment, No pricks. It's what I always say That could be Mario as marketing Bearing a welcome home. They're doing all that. Resilient. Uh, we don't have any pricks. Well, we got a dick. I'm going that way. I think you just came up with the Giants 2021 marketing slogan. No pricks, but a dick. So what do you the actual Definition of a prick. Now I have to look at it. I could practice me. Sure I could prick my finger. I mean, it's a multi, You know, multi definition word, though, right? That is true. Yeah. What does he mean by what is the actual the one that maraschino Dubon his prick Ege usage. What does that actually mean? Bad guy. It refers to a despicable individual offensive, someone who is offensive. It's so much better than Mauricio said, Prick. Could you imagine? We don't have any despicable individuals. You're amongst us. He said. Jerk it wouldn't have near. As you know, we have any jerk sign. Whatever. So can we not say that? Did I get trapped at? Hola? Drive me for using? I don't even say the word. Do bonded. I know it's about it's It's in the bad word that you use it if we if we use didn't if we Yeah, you think polar polar endorses pricks if we if we used it in the, um Context of, um In Oregon. That would be that wouldn't be a guy. I pricked my prick. There wouldn't be good. No, they Yeah. Did I just get drafted? They might have gotten drive for that one. But I'm trying But if you say they'll ask, he's giving me a bunch of things to say, a spiteful or contemptible man off, you know, it's Yeah, it's vulgar. So yeah, that's it. But the male organ is that is that that's that You can't you can't use it in that context, but appear slightly with a sharp point or to put yourself you could use it. That's not a problem. I don't want to prick your prick that is really quickly. Let's secret Compare. Let's see. Can I use it in that context? No. Let's see, Uh Mm uh, to feel the caboose pistol, Janet, I'm just I'm looking at it to feel discomfort as you're looking at What you're looking at your pricked the dictionary definition of pretty good. Realizing that he's gotta go call the Padres and Dodgers at home nationally. Well, he's doing the extra innings of the Angels and the Giants. Here's how it went. Interest of full disclosure here. "They never looked back. They use the long ball today, already three home runs in the first three innings. They got another one from a familiar name in the fifth. Wilmer Flores up. For the third time, Flores hits a drive out to left center field McCutchen tracking it. McCutchen looks up, and it's gone. Another one for Wilmer Flores follows the same kind of home run. It just had so much backspin and carry it kept going. His sixth of the year is second in the game. It's the fourth Giants home run of the game. They lead 6 to 2. First time has been to really productive years for Wilmer Flores with the Giants, but first time that Wilmer has had a multi home run game in a Giants uniform. So Flores, who ended up four for four in the game, put the Giants up even more in the Giants kept extending their lead in the sixth inning. Solano lead off for the double and then Steven Duggar doubled him home. Seven runs across for the Giants. At that point that knocked Zach Eflin out of the game. Howard, the young right hander came in, and he did retire the Giants after that, in the six, But in the seventh, he had all kinds of problems. Couple of base hits, two walks and then a third walk with the bases loaded, plus a wild pitch. Scored a run. So for Howard, it was a rough inning and for the Giants two more runs in their column they lead 92 After 70 In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Giants got more offense revved up this time against David Hale. Two outs. Nobody on And Mauricio Dubon punched a little base hit to Bonds hit gave the Giants a rally. I I don't know if can you hear that? D C Just make sure we're not going off the air here. Mauricio de Obama the base it Brandon Belt, then a ricochet hit on the infield to keep the inning going for Brandon Crawford. Here's the one. Oh, Crawford hits.

"We saw the starting pitchers go out to dinner together in Cincinnati baseball to me more than any other sport. And football obviously is different because you're going to battle with guys football. You're putting your bodies on the line and a much different way for each other, each and every week, albeit for a different period of time. And for fewer games. Baseball to me is the game where off field jelling having that clubhouse guy, a guy who will root for his teammates. I'm Mike Morris type player is all the more important because when you go through a serious like that, dad groceries, you need somebody who keeps it like you've got to have somebody who's gonna boost this team back up. You can't just dwell on everything and be the curmudgeon Loser. Was all the time right? You got to be able to turn the page and Evan Longoria guys, but a lot of time in Tampa knows a little something about losing games and then turning the page right, especially from the time that he got here more from Gabe Kapler here, saying, Yeah, he got really excited about the event. Longoria home run, But the reason this team's playing so well together is because everybody reacted the same way to Austin Slater's home run. It was a a team building, fun building, Wind building home run Here's gamekeeper announcements. That was that was equally as fun, obviously, and he also battled to get a great pitch to hit. And it was a able to elevate one to the poolside. You know, I think the commentary after that home run was like, how hard was that? It right. We all want him to know. I still haven't seen one. You guys could probably fill me in on that. Kaczynski one. It was like Maura. No data from that bubbly. Austin's later on that home run was like a true bat flip. We're not doing a whole lot of bathrooms where I get a lot of flair. Remember that comment from Gabe Kapler last week after after Trevor Bauer left the ballgame, asking for more booze from fans and really, the Giants don't have a player like that. Nobody here is gonna be demonstrative or puff their chest out in the way that Trevor Bauer does. But Gabe Kapler said, you know, with that guys on the team play with a little bit of flair. So like I think about Mauricio Dubon celebrated second base. I'm like, Yeah, deposit that's like asking the Dodger fans T o rain booze on him while he sleeps in the ball game. Ah, little bit different to bonds that slide into second base and putting the sword in the sheath. Although the guy who used to crack me up it was really funny, and that was Angel for gone. Would like, steal second or would slide into second base, and he used to always do that salute. Remember that there were times I felt like he was sliding into second and was saluting before he was like before the ball had been thrown down or before he pops up, he went goes into a slide these throwing that little salute down, which was always kind of funny, But, yeah, big home run for Austin Slater. Nice little bat flip from him, too. And the mean Gabe Kapler Right now He's got that that Six cents to just tab somebody to come in in the right situation and get a big knock. It happens all the time. But again, it can not happen unless the Giants were able to stay healthy and can can take a good look at some of these players. The comm platoon at first base in the outfield. Now we know Lamont Way. Junior is a guy who may end up coming to help him at first base. We'll find out what happens more with Darren Rough, but it's really all going to start and end with the pitching rotation this weekend against the Dodgers starts tonight. We talked a couple of minutes ago or in the last segment. That The Dodgers setting up that their rotation for the second time through as well meaning the Giants are not going to see Trevor Bauer. The doctors are going to see some of the same pictures they saw from the Giants. Gabe Kapler on what your rotation is gonna look like this week. Yeah, Way talked about that, so it'll be wood. DeSclafani Web and Quito. In that order, Webb came out of his bullpen looked great was throwing hard, No, watch them in his catch, play and look creating his catch. Players well reported feeling good after And we felt like he was ready to make a start. We pushed him back one day and moved desperate for me up one day. Yeah, By the way, he did correct himself. After that, he said, my mistake I said Cueto at the end, there is gonna be Kevin Gossman is the fourth starter against the Dodgers. And so then the next question just was sort of quickly here, and I'm actually a fan of this. I think it's the right move. Do not have all of the same starters going against the Dodgers. The guys, you just saw him now just go funny eye. Look at that. And I know it can't be any worse. Right? 10 earned runs away. I can't be any worse than the way it just went down for Anthony Disco. Funny, so nice to see Logan. Well, we'll be back. But then the question is what happened to Scott Kazmir. Gabe Kapler on the lefty. Has to be in the pen for us. It'll be available out of the bullpen for us and have that conversation with him. So part of the reason I wasn't able to give you guys rotation information before right now is we're having several conversations. One was with Web after his full time one was with desperate for me to let him know that we were gonna push him up today and the other one was with cows. So let another Web was gonna make the start and that he'd be in the pen for us. I think we'll consider him available immediately and Will decide when the right time to deploy him is, But there's no reason you know he won't be able T pitch for us as soon as tomorrow, and he may end up being one of those bolt guys recognized role for him. I was not going to carry Crowley about that. If you were in a Yusmeiro, petite like roll from the championship day, so something we could pay attention to. We do have to get into more with the Giants on the other side. Why aren't they considering Buster Posey is the first based option. If he's if he's not taking the number of at bats, and he's not working the number of minutes behind the plate that he has in the past, and he's healthy now. Should they be looking at at Buster Posey and fill in some of these voids at first base just to keep his bat in the lineup on some of these days, but also helping out as far as qualification for a batting title, So we're gonna get into that on the other side and and why Gabe Kapler doesn't think that's an option. I think they need to be trying out Buster Posey a little bit more at first base that could be an option and where Joey Barton is waiting in the wings could also be in play as far as that's concerned. "For kids. I'm also accepting real estate donations. Everybody screwed cap on baseball Game tonight against the Giants of the Padres of this three game Serious and Cape. We watch a little bit Web pitching last night's ballgame, and his numbers were pretty good. You go six innings and Gives up three runs when you compare it statistically to his outing, the previous start, where he went seven shutout innings in the allowed three hits and struck out a career. I ate your thinking. He did not pitch is good last night as he did the previous start when he shut out Iraqis for seven innings, but you know baseball being in that it is a funny game. Really wasn't that way last night Logon Web pitch better. And he did the previous time when he shut out the Padres for seven innings. It's kind of like With Mauricio Dubon Mauricio Davon has been hit the ball really hard. He's got nothing for me to come five days ago is hitting 1 11. Was the hardest 1 11 in the history of the game. And now they're starting to fall. But What is the key? How do you How do you survive that? How do you Explain to somebody when they're looking at your numbers, and you have a loss. How do you tell them? Well, yeah, but I threw better than last week when I shot a guy out for a team out for 70. How do you How do you explain that? Well, it's a lot easier now than it was when you and I played because they didn't have The stats that they have now where you can look at a piece of paper, and you can see that du Bon Has made contact. And 20% of the time he's made contact. He's hit the ball exit velocity over 100 MPH, and those all should be hits. They don't have that stuff when we play. He did not. So all you could do is you could walk around and say. I'm hitting in tough luck. I'm hitting in tough luck. I think I heard Will Clark say that a million times I'm hitting in tough luck. Even if he wasn't hitting. It's tough luck. You know, back then It was a lot harder now It's a lot easier Look to block and can say, Look, Look it! Look, it Would analytics is telling us it's telling us that I'm doing everything that I need to do to get base hits, and I'm not getting base. It's so the only thing you have to be careful of his You're not getting hits. You're gonna put yourself into a slump because you're going to try too hard to get hits. You just have to keep doing what you're doing. And you have to hope that at some point some of those balls that you hit hard You're gonna even up like getting a blooper A couple of into infield hits, You know, just tow make your numbers look a lot better. It's hard walking up the home plate and his biggest score. Boards are toe look and see. An average that's you know, under 200, or even under 1 50. It's hard, big leaguers don't deal with that very well. And But, you know, I think the bonds in a pretty good job with it, the one thing he can't do. If you're specifically talking about Dubon is he can't take the bad luck. He's having offensively. He cannot take that on the field defensively because he plays the two most important spots on the diamond. Assuming that you're not including the catcher, and that center feeling short stuff here, right? That's absolutely right. You know, I used to love that about Barry Bonds me. He had a really good way of simplifying..

"Day. Morning, April 22nd. Carrie, How are you, Man? Giants coming home after a long road trip. You do well, Adam. I love this pointless see when they're coming home because as a beat writer, I haven't been able to go on road trips since the start of the 2020 seasons, so seeing baseball in person seeing live action out of the Oracle Park. That's kind of got me through. It Got me through last summer. It's certainly kind of a light at the end of the tunnel this year. With fans back in the stands the atmosphere, the energy has been better out of the Giants. Haven't sold a whole lot of tickets so far haven't been able to have even a covert capacity sellout as they like to call it down in Scottsdale for spring training, But at the same time, I really do look forward to go into the yard. And it makes things a little easier that the Giants or an entertaining and interesting team, I'll say that much. Yeah, they're definitely entertaining, and we were joking before we started recording that they're in that mode right now similar to how they were blank kind of towards the middle or the end of the 2020 season. Where if they're losing at the end of a game, you can't leave the robe. You can't let go do something because they might come back and I want to get into Gabe Kapler in just a minute. But is that the feeling that you have about this team right now, Like no lead is safe from the opposition. Be it at San Francisco or in Colorado and Philadelphia, wherever it is that they're playing, feels like they legit have the comeback ability. Just a matter of whether I'm thinking hold leads lately. Game themselves. Why 0.22 specific games Adam this season because the offense really for the first 2 to 3 weeks of the season was dreadful until that 10 run outbreak in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. But when you saw Kevin Gossman give up to first hitting home runs against the Reds, I think it was last week and Oracle Park where the Reds tagged him for four runs in the first inning. And then Ah Giants offense that hadn't scored more than four runs and like Eight or nine days comes out in scores for in the bottom of the first with two run shots from the Stransky and Crawford. They end up winning that game 76 again that Kapler really managed quite well, at the end. That to me, said that this team has some of the resilience qualities that we saw from the 2020 squad. And then Tuesday night again in Philadelphia. They go down for nothing early. They're down 63 in the late innings, Connor Brogden, who had not given up a run all season, he comes in and Gives up six in the eighth inning to the Giants. They end up winning 10 7, and so I do think that they have some of those same qualities that 2020 team. Like I said, Thea. Other thing that I would add is did you see what Brogden said? Postgame copes about facing the Giants for the first time in his career. Apparently, he grew up outside of Fresno, but he was a little star struck going against like Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt in the eighth inning. And so I think that that had something to do with the Giants winning one of these games, and it is fascinating to me that You know you could be star struck by this Giants lineup, but that's exactly what happened, apparently well, for me. It's sort of it's funny because I get into these debates now and God, your fans are feeling high and mighty. Now, you know, I mean, they're puffing their chest question. Every time I look at the standings and Dodgers, you're sitting right up there at the top to the number one team in the power rankings and some of the other teams that were supposed to be good. The Yankees one of the worst records in baseball right now, right, so Dodger fans are feeling are feeling high and mighty. And I have a buddy will. What up? Will ya will go first and last name. You can let him know how you feel about him and his Dodger fan prowess anyway, should be a message the other night because, hey, I'm just wondering you're the insider who's the best team in baseball? I'm like, Look at you. You get your crowning yourselves after 60 Game championships and you wanna act the same about a 20 game season are gonna act like because you played 20 games and you're the best. You're the best team ever And he said, you guys have been hanging your hat on those three world championships now for coming upon a decade. I thought, Well, yeah, except the difference is that the Giants actually in this sort of place in what you're saying, still have players on the roster that were around the last time they won World Series. So you're right there kids now getting to the big leagues who are pitching against baseball cards, right? I guess that used to be the micro Co term Now they're pitching against and they'll be the show characters right like he's out there facing he's facing Buster Posey. He's facing Crawford. And it's funny like these are the elements of baseball that I think we forget about that is so cool when a player can last over multiple generations because Broadened being that he's such a young player. He was probably at the peak of his his fandom around baseball before he starts really focusing on it as a career path, or you know you, you get in high school and you start noticing girls and you start playing other sports and doing other things, but to be on the field and be like, dude, these are some of my my idols. We've seen it with Mauricio Dubon, right, talking about him and Brandon Crawford. It's just very cool to me that we're to that level in baseball again, where some of the young guys who we love the young Buster Posey come into the league and Brandon Crawford hitting that first home run. In that grand slam down in Dodger Stadium. Now we're seeing sort of the flip of that where some of these young guys are coming up, and these were their legends. He's where their guys it's just It's one of the fun elements of baseball for May. Yeah, and what I would add, is seeing do bond being the same infield..

"You've had Crawford. He's dealing with a rib cage. I guess tightness or something like that is what they reported. He did pinch hit yesterday, which is a positive sign and Brandon Belt pinch hit a couple of days ago. Also, after being scratched from another ballgame, so belt dealing with the leg Crawford dealing with the rib cage Longoria dealing with leg Donovan Solano goes on the aisle. On, so I don't know. I don't know this next man up is they did go on acquiring infielder from the Yankees last week. Could be a backup shortstop Mauricio Dubon started in short last night, and I would really like to get more out of Marie. She had a bond. Then he is just south table. You know, I know there's been as Dave would call them banjo hitters. They're fit banjo hitters through the history of baseball. But in today's game, you've got to have some sort of excellent output. Be defensively being at the plate. If you're not gonna hit you better have the best glove on the field. If you're not gonna feel you better have one of Better bats that they can take out of the lineup. And so far for Dubonnet has not been the case at least this season. So could be Will Wilson. At some point, I'd love to see that kid up here, the former first rounder that they acquired from the Angels couple of seasons ago. And I want to say that there was a report last week that he's been one of the most impressive players. My Kruger was saying that tumor feedback has been one of the more impressive players out of the alternate sites. All these guys are getting worked at the alternate side of seeing a couple of highlights. Johnny Das cow, the voice of the Sacramento River Cats. I should give him a follow on Twitter is constantly tweeting out videos and updates and news and things that are going on with the alternate site Giants. I think they're calling him like the A s Giants and the Jets. Giants A Esther the donor with the A's, too. It's just It's not your Triple eight. It was not a minor league team is your alternate site team. So if you wanna satellite just a minute here on on Darren rough, who's been spectacular over the last couple of games, the big home run two days ago in Philadelphia, but they're also a huge double yesterday that actually left his bat at a higher exit velocity, the hardest hit ball of the season over 109 miles an hour off the bat. From Darren Rough last night, his home run in Philly left of that at 108..

"Are clearly important prospects. Why not? I mean, listen, let let's just take it down a notch how we're going to start heavy and we're gonna slow it down here a little bit here, Okay? NPR's 68. Will Wilson had a really nice play today. This is a guy who projects is kind of a utility guy. Maybe even starting second baseman down the line. I would like to note to everybody that he had two heirs in one inning over the weekend. So one nice play has not fully negated that situation. But what are we seeing out of? Will Wilson both in the field and at the plate. So far, because this is a guy. Let's not forgive the Giants paid pretty handsomely for essentially by in the Zach Cozart trade. You know, I don't think that a Dustin Pedroia comparison is fair toe. Will Wilson because I don't think that he has that type of the ceiling. But there are Dustin podria like qualities and will Wilson's bat. The guy pulls the ball really well. When he gets a fast ball, he can yank at the exit velocities off his bat or impressive and he's fast. He's athletic on the diamond plays up the middle. Well, it's second base. I I really do believe that deter his best position. Second base the two air game you're referencing. Was it third base? I'm not so sure that he has the arm of the range there. But it's second base. He fits in quite quite nicely in the infield. And I do think that the will Wilson is somewhere where the average is going to continue to take up over the course. The minor league season you'll receive less swing and miss from him as well, Um, or discerning eye at the plate from him as well. And I think back to when Joe Panik was a rookie in 2014 is making all sorts of contact was hitting 300. Was more athletic because he was a college shortstop and then injuries have got in the way of Joe panics career, and he's never been the same since that rookie season. But I do think that will Wilson at his peak can be that 2014 version that Joe Panik was. Where is a high contact guy? You can drive the ball into the gaps he could, You know, bridge excitement from the top of the line up to the middle of the order. I'd really do think that there's a reason the giant scouts identified Wilson for what this Giants team is going to be about the future. Listen, Carrie, you and I both like that. Is there a place for that kind of player in baseball? Still, though, is that is that a guy of a bygone era? I think that on the right team, there's a place for that. I think that that's why the Giants were so aggressive and targeting Tommy List L a this offseason because you look at Tommy lost Ella and the baseball reference page of the back of his baseball card. Not all that impressive. Tommy lost. Ella does nice things he hits 2 70. The OBP is 3 30, but you actually watch him play and he grinds down pictures he grinds down at that's starting pitchers. When they open the game against time in the cellar are more often than not going to see seven or eight pictures against him than 2 to 3 because that's how he works in a baton that may not benefit. Tommy lost Ella in the long run, but you bet it's going to benefit Alex Dickerson and Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria further down in the order. We've already seen evidence of that. During spring training. I think that will Wilson could be that guy. I don't know that he'll have the same plate discipline or same back control that Tommy let Stella will have. But I do think that there are similar qualities in there where he can help a lineup be better than you know the sum of its parts. That sort of thing. Talking to carry Crowley of the Bay Area news group in KNBR. He knows Tommy La Stella's obp off the top of his head. And I want to ask you about Steven Duggar, who isn't hitting, but when he does hit, it seems to go out of the park. We know the glove is there. This is a guy who's right on the fringe, and I was talking adult Johnson about this yesterday on the show, Like we were all excited about Steven Duggar. We knew he wasn't some super prospect woman, Steven Duggar came up. It's felt like at least for the Giants at that juncture in time. That was that was a big deal that Hey, this guy's coming up. This guy's gonna be a good major league player. This and that. And now he's a guy who's on the French, which shows how far the rebuild has come. But where is Steven Duggar? At this point? Does he have a role on this team and you're in your vision? Opening day. No, I mean, candidly speaking, I don't think that Stephen Duggar fits into the giant's plans. And I think that he's going to have to go down to Sacramento and re proved that he can hit triple a pitching and re prove that he could be an asset against right handed pitchers because the Giants just don't have a spot for him in their outfield right now, you know they've got Mauricio Dubon in center field. They like Lamont Wade Better. And Sarah Lamont Wade skill set all three outfield positions and much like Stephen Duggar, left handed hitter. The Giants front office of Farhan Zaidi and Scott Harris acquired Wade, whereas Doug Was drafted by the Savior and Evans are a front office and so that automatically is going to put weight ahead of Duggar on the depth chart. He's a better plate discipline guy. He draws more walks. And so if he's able to play center field, he will skyrocket past Duggar on the depth chart. Where is Duggar like you mentioned? You know, the home runs this spring have been impressive, but the Giants want to seem or they want to see more walks. They want to see more small ball. They want to see him shoot the ball of the gap. Instead of striking out 30% of the time of the plate, because when he gets on, he could be a stolen base threat when he's not on base, And that's not often because it was like a 2 90 on base percentage when he was getting regular playing time for the Giants. That's an issue. And so I think there's still a lot more for Steven Duggar to prove to hang on to that 40 Man roster spot, and I do think that unless he continues to play this way this spring, it will be in jeopardy from the end of spring training, and they have to add those nonroster guys. Just read your article. Marco Luciano, talk to reporters today and reading your thing. You made a very immediate comparison and whether it was Whether it was obvious or not, whether it was intentional or not. Fernando Thaci's junior gets brought up a lot right in juxtaposition with with Marco Luciano. We know that he's this great prospect No one. No one's gonna argue that he doesn't have Goods 19 years old and he's a couple of years away, right? But Totty says that's a that's a high bar. Carry. What? What made you go about that? The ceiling. The ceiling is there and I don't know that Marco Luciano will reach that ceiling. I think that like you said, Deter it is a really high bar to clear and to expect someone like Luciano to at 2021 22 years old a few years from now come to the major leagues and just immediately provide that jolt of energy. That is a lofty expectation, But when you look at the body look at the way he feels his position and you see the you know the authority with which he can hit the baseball. You realize he has that type of the ceiling. There are few players where the ball comes off the bat like it does Marco Luciano. I go back to that instructional league highlight that he produced back in November when he hit a ball from Iraqis left hander 119 MPH off the bat. You know how many major league players have done that in the last five years? Four. Marco Luciano has a ceiling that no other player this farm system has and so getting, They're going to be really difficult. That's on the Giants talent evaluators that's on the Giants coaching staff. That's on Marco Luciano to find a way to maximize all that potential. But he has the rare rare combination of skills baseball like you and just pure athleticism. That make you think that? Hey, maybe down the line. He could be that tight east type of influence in this giant organization talked me through that line..

"That's ah to win Saturday and Sunday for the last three weekends and you can't Be happier to host the post game on winds. We're finally going to change up on your next weekend, huh? Hey, now, come on. Come on. Don't drop it down on the No. No. All I mean is that they're going. They're going toe. They're throwing the Padres. Thatyou're right. Sure, but you know what? Every weekend a different weekend. You know that. Hey, I think tomorrow is going to be the best Labor day ever. Tell you what. Tomorrow's a big day. We're going to storm in there and get another win. Yeah, Tomorrow is a key game against Zach Galan. And we're gonna have the left hander's back in their Crawford had a little minor hamstring. Talked about that in a postgame show. He'll be back in there. We're going to have built back in or two and Brandon Belt. What can you say to him? You want him in that in that batting fourth or batting third with Longoria? Third or fourth. Have they always switched and Ah course your strips you will be leading off the left handed lineup will be back in there. So I'm excited to see that Dickerson would be back in hell Bride be batting second. And I want to see them. Attacks out Gallons at Galleon is one of the better starting pitchers in National League this year. I was going to ask. You know much about him. Yeah, we watched the TV that he set or tied a record, didn't he? Yeah, he went by it. He broke the record. But there was a couple times where the only what two or three innings in some starts, but he's still kept it under. I think it was three runs or less. But I tell you what, from the bin and beginning of his career, he hasn't given up three runs or Maurin any starts. That's the key right there in his last start to give up one hit against the Dodgers and and held them to zero runs. He's a good He's a picture that pitches on corners. It gets ahead of hitters. He elevates the fastball about 94 95. And and he's got a good breaking ball. So the Giants have seen him and and he has pitched well against them. But when you're trying to put the pedal to the metal, you've got to go through good pitchers. And you have to dominate this guy tomorrow. Somehow, some way they have to get early runs and we know what Kevin Gausman Khun do. Kevin Gausman been pitching very well for the Giants this year, and you just need to get him some runs, too, so he can kind of float a little bit. He's throwing 40 and two thirds innings given up 39 hits 53 strikeouts for nine walk so good good pitching matchup tomorrow. It's going to be that 5505 starts of the shadows were going to kind of be filtering on both sides, and we'll see if that's going to do any damage to the hitting. Hey, The last thing is, I would like to point out A real positive thing about this team picking up Mauricio Dubon after the play the other night, you know. Eliza came would lie down at that point. Go home. This team didn't do that. They came back and they picked him up and cap. Put him back in the lineup, and they got two wins. And now they got, you know, at least a split, but, you know, go through the series win, but The vibe of the team, and I'm just watching on TV. But sure it's positive and I think these guys would get along and they picked him back up and and he's he looks good at the plate. I think he's going to be a real good player for the Giants. Well, when you're looking before the games today, he was four for eight. In this series. We've got two hits. And then you got the triple back to back triples with Joey Bart. That was a key there in the sixth inning yesterday's game. Oh, and today took an old for three, um, just didn't hit the ball like he could. But again, you know, he's a rookie. So anything good about it still playing Great center field for the S of Giants and These are all positive things. What I what? I like the bottom. Once he made a mental error. We talk about the last day or so. And he said, Hey, I ran to third base with my head down. It was my mistake. Nobody to blame but myself for a young kid to say that and then come in yesterday. And he had a fabulous game yesterday. But I keep saying Let's talk about the two hits that he robbed the ball over his right shoulder. They went over the wall and caught in a diving catch in center field. He's had a lot of positives more than negatives. But of course, when you're trying to chase to get into a wildcard physical errors make a difference. You know that's gonna happen. Mental mistakes are the ones you can't have. And I think that's what he was pretty much upset at him about Yeah, absolutely. All right, hurry and a bad play, But But, you know, I think I heard J writes a one time that He mentioned that he always strived to play the perfect game. But if you asked him honestly, he said, he never actually played a perfect game. Well, it's all athletes do that. And it's It's always the superior players that really come out with those phrases. But you know Jerry Rice was outstanding guy, of course. All of us that watched him for so so many years said What do you mean? He had a bad day. He always had a good day. He had speed speed never takes a day off. And you know that, But I tell you what. It's the young players that were watching. In the orange and black right now that are really opening our eyes for the future. And once again, Mike, your stream ski is that kind of guy hitting 2 96. He's had some rough spots lately. They're really jamming him. In on his hands and elevate the fastball a little bit more. He's not really getting that ball out. Scouting reports really kind of pushing him inside on, Then you just keep going. Austin Slater back. I'm so glad he's healthy. He's a big big Plus in that lineup. We keep talking about Evan Longoria. He would. He's been playing so well today took in over four years 17 for 46 coming into today. And you could even go farther back with Evan Longoria 20 games He was hitting 3 42 27 for 79. 4 home runs five doubles in a triple and I just like him. I I just think he's been playing so well. This.

"And so the Giants were stuck in a position where they've got a few guys seemingly carrying this team. Mikey Stransky O P. S still over 1000 Alex Dickerson o PS despite going over four. On Wednesday evening. 8 50 for Donovan Solano, PS 1.68 Evan Longoria. 8 92 Brandon Belt helped his cause. He got up to 80 80 with a big night on Wednesday. The three run home run the double. The Giants really needed that from Brandon Belt, because I've still got a lot of question marks about this team six and seven. Logan Webb has been the saving grace for this pitching staff. For whatever reason, they won't name Trevor got the closer even though he looks totally capable of filling that role. And so the giants for Trust in this situation where a few guys were performing for a few days, and a few guys have not performed it all. And unfortunately for Farhaan Zaidi, two of those guys Jalen Davis and Mauricio Dubon Or his big acquisitions at the 2019 trade deadline. So Mikey Stransky begins to falter if Donovan Solano comes back to Earth They're going to be a lot of questions about the direction of this Giants team because, remember So many of those prospects that the Giants were so thrilled about Joey Barton, Marco Luciano Elliot Ramos. You're Bobby Evans guys. So the heat is going to be on if the Giants don't begin to figure this thing out. And begin to play more consistent baseball. Got one more in Colorado, Tyler Anderson against Kyle Free Land on Thursday, 12 11th pitch right here on the leader, three in Los Angeles and three in Houston, in what is expected to be and what has already been an exceedingly difficult road trip when we come back Introduce Mark and Mac Mark Willard. "Kind of like a couple of things and I feel really good right now. I can't wait to get started plans. Okay Can you kind of maybe explain a little bit for us? non professional baseball players in terms. We might understand what kind of changes that they made to you. They told us that they were going to work. On your swing a little bit Just back past stuff had a little wild swinging sometimes get keep me off balance a little bit on the. Tomlin's a little off but I'm basically just making one motion now. We talked a little bit about your your start last year and you got to meet Willie mays and everyone had a big deal about the fact that you know Willie himself had a rough start to his big league career. He actually called his dad. Said I want to come home. I know you didn't call your parents to say you wanted to come home but did anything really tell you actually kind of stick in your head. He said just go out there and have fun and play. He said you got here. So do what you did to get here. So I mean helped out a lot and Kana took a lot of pressure off me for sure. Okay and September twenty fifth that. That date must mean something. You definitely does for sure. I'll never forget it. Okay you you actually got an infield hit if I recall correctly in the game and then you came up in a tie game and was it the ninth or tenth inning against a DJ Johnson of the rockies and take us through that at I've missed a couple fastballs early in that bad. And everyone again founded off make their May occur ball and I took it for for ball and I was like okay Was HE GONNA. I went back with another fastball. Without off some like all right maybe that was just for show. He's going to go back. Curveball solid pop up out of his hand that no like if I put a good swing on is up in zone. I can get to it so what happened. Was you hit a walk off homer to beat the rockies The first walk off home of your bigly career ahead. You had some in the minor leagues walk-offs trying to think I don't think I had to walk off and the minor leagues now. I don't think I did What's that feeling like I imagine like some people have said that you know you do something like that especially early in her career in a big game like the playoffs. You don't even really kind of you're not really thinking you're kind of running but you don't really know what happened. And what were you thinking as you were rounding the basis When I hit it so I go up and I'm actually pretty good friends with Sam. Hillier the center fielder in Psalm Ryan back on my car come on now. I have to get out. I feel like I got it and I saw him jump and like I saw where it hit and I was like okay like a finally just like the weight lifted off of me. I don't know I mean I didn't black out through the whole thing. Surprisingly like guy kind of like a note happened though time. So it's pretty and did you. You Sam Hilliard. Our friends from where we play in the folly together two years ago. Okay Yeah did you have any conversations with him about that afterwards? Yeah I actually saw him in the rookie rookie meanings this off season. And he's talking about he's like he's like I knew it was going but I had to make it look like I was going to put on a show. Okay I remember Evan Longoria I mean he had been here for a couple of years before he had even a walk off hit and he said that that was the moment he finally felt like he was a San Francisco giant. Which at the moment. You finally felt that you were a big league ball player or did you not need that. Affirmation I felt like. I don't think I needed that. I just think I needed from like the slump that I was going through this kind of realize like hey like you still got it like just relax and do what you gotta do. This obviously going to be competition here. There's a lot of outfielders in here. You Competition I. I'm very competitive. Always been competitive. Anybody that knows me. They'll tell you that. Yeah very competitive. do anything interesting inside. Go to Aruba this off season Trying to think no not really Went to New York for New Year's. That's my girlfriend's from so we went back into this her friends but Other than that. No you didn't do the time you Times Square thing on us now. Now she was like. You don't WanNa do that. Trust me like it's not worth twelve year. Twelve fourteen hours. And you can't go to the bathroom right exactly so we kind of we're going to go do that. She's like no. I tried to down real quick. So okay well thank you Jalen. I wish you have a really good spring and can't wait to see you out there. Thank you present. The giant splash is a production of the San Francisco. "I your first spring training with the giants. How does it feel to actually walk in here? It was a little confusing coming in and everybody says a new place. I I haven't been here ever was not an open space but It's pretty nice I like it. Yeah I mean I think everybody's been a little confused with all the hallways walkways and things like that. It's a new building and a new start for you your spring training here you. You've had a couple of Milwaukee right major league spring training. I had a couple in Milwaukee and then Kind of know how how it goes and everything so I'm excited to start with dance again. Okay it was a big winner for you You're you're pretty big on social media and You you put a picture out of you proposing to your girlfriend didn't you? Yes yes picture. I'll put a picture of video. Everything went all out went to Paris. All that stuff. It was fun. How did it go? It was good. It was really good. It was It was I mean obviously i. I'm doing that so it was a it. Oh but it was awesome experience. I mean then gotta say well you went to Paris Specifically for that my she didn't know that obviously she didn't know that she Her second major in college was French so the new language art just decided to go over. There celebrate just decided accurate. I mean everybody knew except for her so it was pretty big deal. Were you on the river? Seine on one of those flea boats. Where did you do it? I did it in front. Did it in front of the of the entrance Peres. I did it like where you can see the castle and everything it was. It was pretty cool like the whole thing. Like looking back and everything. Okay what's her name First Name and how the Knowledge Nancy Nancy Nancy since there's so I know her family know everybody so so she's Honduran. Yeah she's under and chased from Honduras she I mean we have a lot in common. We come from the same background. So it's it's it's pretty connect okay Speaking of Honduras I think everybody you learned your story last year You were you know you try. Did you gotta make yourself noticeable down there and you got an invitation to come up Sacramento To go to high school lived with his family And that sort of started it and speaking of social media as well You've posted some pictures of yourself when you were about fifteen sixteen years old at Oracle Park then called. At and T. Park alongside pictures of you in a giants uniform That kind of fun to do when you think back of it. I guess everybody a lot of kids. Have this dream of playing in the BALLPARK. When they're watching it and you're one of the few actually gets to live it. Yeah I mean it's when you come into the ballgame in in the big league ballgame the first say like you. WanNa play here. And that's That's the one thing you you you WanNa do WanNa play in the big leagues. When you're growing up another thing and keep time parents my host family and everybody like yeah one cool things about being a big leaguer but the other cool thing is about that. It's the giants like I'm it for the giants. The team that I came first big-league start watching and fuller body. I mean it does. That's the thing that I still kinda shocked about this to giants. Nobody else has that. I'm playing didn't you when you when you first came in there when you were fifteen? I believe it was didn't didn't you actually think okay one day. I'm GONNA play your wasn't really a maybe it was. I'm GONNA do this. No it was says they want. I told them my host MOM AGAIN. WanNa play here when they watch. I'm going to play here one day. And it's GonNa make I'm GonNa make it happen like some somehow someway and from in funny thing how God works and then just made my first head and everything over there so it was pretty special. What what did you learn your first Little taste of the big leagues. I know you didn't debut with the giants. You had been up with a couple of a couple of games but what did you really learn that you might not have known when you finally got up the same game. It's the same game I mean as the big leagues that are more cameras a lot more people. But it's the second game same game you play in high school simply sing game you play in and in college him play in rookie ball all the way up. Boy I mean that's the same game it's just might be more consistent and more being more focused and I mean the thing is just you know just slow things down and you're there for a reason you're earned the right to be there so just just trust yourself. You know one of the things that Gabe Kaplan than humanity always talks about is. It doesn't matter whether you've been in the League for one week or fifteen years it's always about development They're always trying to get players to to learn new things Just to make sure that they keep up with with how baseball changes and all that one of the things that you've had to deal with is they've had you out in the outfield. You actually posted a video of yourself. Taking fly balls Centerfield. How did that conversation into that? Conversation first happened. And how did it go and just told me I mean they just told me very much higher feel plan Gabe reach out and how you feel about by now filming I. Sometimes I've got to play. I got no problem. I keep telling everybody. I'm a baseball player not a shortstop. Second Baseman. I'm a baseball player. Wherever you put me out of accelerated with me out I'll do my best and know I'll do good and I mean the Phillies Fun. How fill is fine and going out there. I play offline there are a couple of years ago and other a bad job and I mean like I say it's baseball wherever you go the same thing so I just practice and getting their getting comfortable and also those okay. Did you when you were out there practicing were you mostly when you're practicing you're throws and and seen balls off the bat where you mostly in? Centerfield? Yeah does Molly Center. Fear must've Centerfield. Destruction get acclimated to the to the whole outfield stuff and everything but I know it changes. I know what you're just from learfield. Imagine right around. I just trying to get you still feel from different angles. The bad different cracks of the bad Just all that stuff. Okay and and hitting wise did they send you home or did you do anything in the winter that they asked you to work on specifically to hone your hitting skills. No I think the hidden goes I mean I had a great year last year hitting and just trying to be more consistent tried to put more more consistency in more ace to maximize my body. Try to get everything I got in and put my as much as I can and just try to be kind of repeat what I did last year or two or even better Tony Larussa former manager of the as he used to say if you could play the Infield and you could play outfield. You agree with that. I mean I mean you're an athlete at thing gaming. It's become a now that you gotta be Nice Day to play the game and it's Gone. It's going towards that end. I feel like I'm a good athlete to go up there. It's going to be an be. It's going to be hard at the beginning but I know I can. I can manage it. Are you hoping that once the game start you pretty quickly get a shot out there? I mean wherever wherever wherever they WANNA think. I'll be helpful the team. I'll be happy about it. I mean I got no problem. If they WANNA put in the first game they WANNA put one hundred sixty two hundred zero. I think what they're looking at for you as being one of those super utility guys And it may not sound as good as starting second baseman are starting shortstop. They're super utility. Guys get four four hundred and fifty at bats playing different positions making yourself versatile is a big deal with this organization Do you have any any issues with titles Super Utility Guy. I'm a baseball player like it's a baseball per people. He's the baseball player now. I just I got no problem as long as I get to help. The team lent him being the lineup. I mean I like winning winning in at the end of the day it's all about the team's all about winning and if I can help the team win away I'll be happy about it. Who did you make friends with the best on the team when you first got here? I mean a lot of people. A lot of people were nice to me pretty relationship with Carl Crawford. I mean you helped me a lot and all the very nice belt post I mean all those guys that helped me out a lot and try to you. Know look up you know trying to emulate. I mean those guys are great for a long time and just trying to have this in carrier as Dan remain. They win for a reason. And it's not an accident where they have success. And just try to you know. Try To pick the brain up and just trying to listen to them. Whatever they have to say listen. I mean there's a lot of people friendly here. Okay last question for you Marie show The team is in a turnaround stage and it turn around usually led by by youth. Do you like the idea the notion that may be you. And some of the guys you came up with a plate with just toward the end in in Sacramento and and some of the young guys in the clubhouse here could kind of lead the renaissance that might lead to the next round of championship baseball. Oh Yeah I love it. I love that I love that. I love the spotlight louder even pressured because it's just it's winning baseball. I mean that's it's good. I love that. I love the energy. I love that that commitment they put him in. I mean it's something that you want bad coming up you one. That pressure won that title and I mean we'll do everything possible to have the winning. You know starter. Other three years it's star other championships are so I mean it's it's it's something that I love and I want an speaking pressure. Have you set a wedding date November November did it was specifically planet? 'cause playoffs in October. So we didn't we. We're planning on November. Remember to be sure great. Congratulations thank you. Thank you appreciate it. We'll talk to Jalen Davis right after this. If you've been listening to San Francisco City insider you heard from Jason Bodine months before his surprise election as cities. Da You heard from the most love librarian in the country and you heard from the man who wants to remake Muny. I'm chronicle columnist. Heather Knight get to know the people who make San Francisco tick and see if you approve of their burrito choices on San Francisco city insider back on the giant splash. Now talking to outfielder Jalen Davis Acquired in a trade last year from the Minnesota twins and In the first part of this podcast I talked to Marie. Show Dan he went to Paris and proposed to his girlfriend. You didn't do anything silly like that. Did you know we went on vacation and went to Aruba fanatics then propose or anything? Okay you did you go to the Chadwick Trump Ancestral home. He's a new catcher. You guys have from Aruba. I did not know another. Yeah I just met him when I can't get down here last week so okay. Netherland Antilles are really really beautiful. Enjoy your time down there. Definitely Great Tommy Spend like six days down there definitely not easy to get to a couple of flights. Isn't it oh? Yeah I mean. Why wasn't Fort Myers too bad? So Yeah So one of the things that we heard all winter You know one of the things they did this. This winter was they did not bring back. Kevin Pillar and They said they wanted to make sure. They had enough at bats in the outfield for some of the younger guys that they brought in. They've expressed a lot of faith in you And I'm just wondering what your thoughts are about. You know your your own feelings about your abilities. Your you know to make the team to contribute this year After a little bit of a rough start last year major league career on that note. I'm I'm grateful that they did that. And that they feel that confident in me. I just took that into this off season and just work really hard Came up a weekend before Christmas. It hit with Donny and Justin. And it's.
