"You started out in kind of this this you know sort of loose umbrella organization the security. Checkpoints and stuff? "Legs. Maui stood before the steaming son admiring his work as Cala struggled against the ropes which were bound to a whealy really tree of incredible strength but Mao as heart sank when he remembered how much cola was needed and when Kolat threatened to leave the world in darkness forever. Maui was shocked. You would just watch the world die. Do you not believe in good mono- about how people see you. Good Mono- means nothing to me. Good bad who cares. I am the son you do not need approval and you have power. Molly considered this. He'd long cared what people thought of him and used his power purely for the purpose of impressing others hearing colosseum. This made him wonder if he'd been going about it. The wrong way that sounds freeing freeing it was until now from what about honor? I crave it. It's all I want. People honor you with their fear. No one fears Maui. Molly is a joke. As soon as he uttered the words Maui realized that it was true he was constantly laughed at slapped told to shut up. He did not know one person who had truly respected him during his pursuit of the sun even though he stood in front of the Great Cala having used his strength and courage to snare him he did not know if he was the right person to preach to Calla about honor when he had none a joke. You are I see it to now. Release me you have no right to hold the sun. You are not worthy. But as Maui considered his options he remembered his mother's words bodies. Not The only thing you need to be strong in. Maui looked at his rippling muscles strong lean adequate for great deeds but he realized the start that it was his mind that was being tested. Carla wanted him to give up on himself on his journey and he would not let his mind. Be The weak Link Cola. You must know what you do when you give the great molly a challenge. What are you whining about now? Maui Maui was already on his feet with a rock in hand. He strode toward the Burning Sun and raise the rock up high bringing it down on one of CAL's legs with great force. What are you doing? Stop my leg? No one tricks Maui. Maui moved to another leg and then another leg after leg. Crumpled in a fiery heap as Maui. Hit them over and over again with his rock colossus struggled against his bindings but could not get away from the onslaught. He could not break free. Stop Stop Stop. Please no more. Maui stopped panting. The Rock fell out of his hand as he faced the now pitiful. Cala his flames dimmed. He looked battered and exhausted as he turned. His defeated is toward Maui. You win no I will do what you ask. Just release me Maui. Maui thrived off of winning. It meant he had achieved what he had set out to. Do it meant that. He was powerful as he had thought but there was no joy in bringing Kolat to his knees. Instead he was filled with purpose. This felt necessary. You must travel slowly so people may fish and hunt so that crops may grow and that my beautiful mother can dry her kappa safely. And so I have more time to see myself each day but Maui has not finished sorry time will be measured by daylight and you you will be honored as a marker of time in fact your path is what all people below will used to plan their days. Fine but I will grow tired. Allow me some months of quicker flight so that I might rest. You wish to compromise. Yes let me see half the year we shall get longer days and in winters months you can pick up the pace cala. Yes that is a good compromise. It is fine and you said people will honor me so you do care if you are on board. Of course you foolish God who does not want to be praised by others but but you said it is weak to admit your insecurities. Molly smiled at this. After all he had gone through and all that he had overcome he thought that admitting your faults was the strongest if you could do I do not agree great Kulla but I think we have a deal yes. Maui grabbed Iraq and smashed it against the ropes that were coiled around the tree. One by one day loosened until finally Kalala was free. He rose up into the sky his speed fluid but slow as he ascended a brilliant expensive daylight fell over the island and the ocean surrounding it. Maui smiled but his past mistakes were heavy on his mind. He had rebelled in victory before only to discover that he had caused even more trouble. Perhaps this was merely the beginning of another problem. Molly's mother the Moon Goddess pounded bark into a pulpy sheet and laid it out on a sunny rock to dry. She was making Kappa cloths and hoped that this bark would soon turn into a beautiful skirt for someone to wear. She stepped back and looked upward at the sky. Daylight had held far longer than it had in the last few months. She smiled as the sun warmed her face. Perhaps her CAPRA's would finally be completed. Mother Hino looked over to see Maui we tentatively approach his hulking frame seemed somewhat childish as his is searched. His mother questioning Louis. Is Everything alright now. The Sun is still out so you are happy instead of answering. He strode over to Maui. He flinched ready for angry words or a slap but instead he noth- threw her arms around her son. Did you do this did you? Son I DID MOLLY. I am so proud of you. You're proud of me. They were the words that Maui needed to hear thrilled. He pushed back his mother to raise a fist in the air but he accidentally pushed her too hard and she toppled into the waterfall sputtering. She glared at Maui did you just don't our mother. Molly TURNED TO C. Naika standing with her hands on her hips. Her magical hair hung limp around her shoulders but she still exuded power flanking. Her was his grandmother. Maui wroto and his three other brothers. Molly put his head down nervous to face the rest of his family. They were always his toughest critics. Pick your head up hero. Maui looked up in shock. Unique smiled at him. Genuinely as his brother's rushed forward to embellish him with joy. Maui gazed around his family. Tears sparkling in his eyes as he basked in victory but also in the joy of respect and love for that was what he truly desired. Molly's tales frequently showcase his ability to alter nature for the good of civilization. He pulled up. Islands created mountains and valleys and was even said to be responsible for the first coconuts. Despite his missteps he wanted to use his abilities to create a better world his good deeds cemented him as a cultural hero in Polynesian mythology without Maui. The reliability of the sun would not exist and mankind perhaps fail to lead productive lives. His disorderly conduct actually established order in the end as a result he is revered by Polynesian cultures with a legacy that has spanned over a thousand years because as the Demi God himself would tell you Maui always wins..

Maui had reached out to his brothers for help in constructing sixteen indestructible ropes and nooses. A strand of his sisters magical hair was braided in each rope. Now we hope the magical properties would make the rope strong enough to hold the sun and he was about to find out. He crouched in a whole by the base of a whealy dealy tree on the peak of Mount Haleakala and waited for. Kolat the sun to pass overhead though he was poised and ready to strike. He was a bit early. Kolat was fast but he was still coming all the way from the East Maui side with impatience as he waited and waited and waited. Where is he thought? Cola like to be quick. Maui hummed to himself in frustration. His volume rose as he grew more and more impatient as his humming peaked. He startled an Albatross that had been perched on the uppermost branches of the whealy tree. The bird took off and blue right into collages path. Its feathers were immediately consumed by flames as it burnt to a crisp before. Mao as is but Maui barely noticed because the first leg of colas burning body was reaching above him making its way towards his crater to settle in for the night the earth shook and the heat became unbearable but Maui was ready. He grabbed one of the nueces and flung as hard as he could. It spun through the air heading straight toward laws flaming leg above him. Your Mark Mao as is flushed with excitement as he waited to see if the noose would land his aim was true. The rope hit Cala. It's forced propelled around and around robbing his leg tightly. Yes maui hit his chest in victory but he did not have time to revel in glory. As Colossus stepped forward. He felt the jerk of the restraint. He looked down his is full of lethal fury. He yanked at the rope but it held. Maui ducked behind the tree for cover as Cala let out another ferocious roar. What is this color? Tried to move forward using another leg to crawl over the mountain peak but Maui hopped out from his hiding place with another news in his hand. This rope found its mark as well and snaring Khalas second-leg Mao as is lit up at his victory. The old Maui might have taken the time to walk around and pound his chest victoriously even now his muscles tense with the desire to celebrate but instead Maui forced himself to focus he threw a third news then a fourth then a fifth it was. Then that Cola finally saw Maui standing by the whealy tree his breath with fury you you dare disrupts my sleep. You quick your path across the sky. Maui ducked out of the way just in time as Cala sent a ball of fire streaming toward him Kolat then roared and sent trails of fire down the ropes flying to burn them away but still they held Kala seethed coward. I am no coward. Kala simply laughed in answer to Maui always bold response. His laughter shook the mountain. A wave of heat exploded off him and rushed past. Maui nearly bringing him to his home. As the sun continued to laugh. Maui grew more and more angry. He hated not being taken seriously. You dare laughing at Maui. Maui thumped his chest forgetting about the noose he had in his hand. His body felt electric as he strode. Toward Cala you will pay for your jeers as Maui step. Closer Cala lashed out a free leg and whipped malaise feet out from under him. Maui pitched forward falling face first into the earth below as he lifted his head with a grown. His eyes widened. Three of Kala's legs were reaching toward him. He rolled out of the way just as the legs slammed into the ground as he ruled his hand closed around another news without waiting a moment he flung it into the air. It whipped around another of Khalas legs as he roared in protests. Maui stumbled to another news. He threw that one. It hit its mark then. He realized two hands better than one. Two hands of Maui. Better than thousand mortal hands. He grabbed two more ropes and flung them toward Cala. Maui Maui flung nooses one after another because Calla was already trapped. He could not effectively dodge the ropes that swung his way each leg. Maui aimed at was encircled by the news and pulled tight soon all Khalas legs but one were stretched out wide held firmly by the ropes. Like a burning spiderweb. Kala panted as his final leg thrashed about trying to hit Maui. Both of them burned with anger as they faced. One another then Maui through his final news just as Kalala raised his last leg and lashed it toward Maui. The leg slammed into Maui chest and he flew into the air but the news had found. Its mark it wrapped around his pulling Kalat taught as he tried to. Back Away Maui gingerly hauled himself to his feet there. He took the extraordinary sight before him. Cala was trapped. He struggled against the powerful ropes as they restricted his movements. The whealy whealy tree groaned in protest as the ropes were pulled but it held firm Colossus sent flames down the ropes trying again to burn them to ash but still they held. Sparks flew off of coladas. He roared anger. Lame spewed into the air landing at Mao as feet the demi-god danced in a little circle. As he taunted Kala. They said it could not be done but I have trapped son silence. I do not need to be quiet. You are the one trapped. I contains all I want. You will let me go or fume. Iraq. What rat you are trapped. No one told Maui. The Sun was so dense newly. Yes what stupid. You have shocked Maui. The Sun burned bright with anger for a moment and then dimmed down. Collage had never before been tested in this manner and despite himself he respected this brawny young man for trapping him. All right Maui. What is it you want. Thought you would never ask. What do Maui want? What does Maui want out with it? Hey Shifts Kala. Those ropes get tighter. You know what I want for you to slow down ever since I raised the sky and has been old zip zip for you. Why the Hurry? Take your time and we have no problem. Slow down for what for the people who live below Calla? They are suffering. I Care Not at all for what mortals need. What I need is sleep. Something you are getting in the way of. Then you leave Maui no choice. I will not release you until you agree to slow your path through the sky. Khalas bloodshot eyes looked down at Maui with amusement. Keep me here if you must then there will be no light at all. I will watch from this very peak as the world slowly dies. Then high will be known as Maui. The one who snuffed out the sun coming up Maui must find a balance between strength and cunning in order to get Kolat to change his mind now the conclusion to the story the Demi God. Maui had done the impossible. He had used sixteen. Nooses made from magical rope to capture the Sun Calla by restraining his eight son.

"Maui needs his mother his mother he was known for making exquisite kappa. Close and would certainly know how to craft strong rope molly race down from Mount Holyoke Allah's peek through the between the mountains and toward Hino's cave but when he arrived at her cave molly's heart sank. His four brothers were lounging around. The waterfall of fire roared the mouth to the cave illuminating. They're mocking faces as they watched Mao as approach. Maui took a deep breath and nodded to his brother's Aloha. He he brothers but he was interrupted when Maui wrote. Oh stood and pointed past Maui. Fear etched on his face. Now we watch out what. What is it? Maui tensed ready to spring into action. But when he turned around he saw nothing then he became aware that his brothers were stifling. Their laughter I think it was just a fly but please take care of it for us. It would be the most useful thing obscene. You do. Do not laugh at Maui. Then do not be so funny younger brother. It is an unfair ask before Maui could control himself. He let out a roar and kicked at the flowing waterfall almost at once. A huge torrent of water spun towards his laughing brothers putting the fire out and smashing them against the cave wall. I should not have done that. You Idiot Maui. Stood THERE HIS ANGER. Abating and guilt taking its place. His brothers had long teased and tormented him but he needed help and he no was nowhere to be seen. He'd have to take what he could get brothers enough. I am Maui and I am stronger than you. But it's your cocoa. Your I need now. And why should we help you? Molly did not know what to say. He and his brothers had never seen Aieda I and now here. He was about to beg for their assistance but he also knew he had never ask them for help before maybe their disdain for him was simply because he'd never included them in his adventures because it is a family affair this snaring of the Sun. And it is your chance to share and Maui. Glory Maui wrote Oh and the other brothers shared a dubious look but then slowly smiled. Told us more. Maui told his brother what needed to be done and together. They traveled back to the whealy dealy tree on Mt. Holly Accola all right brothers. You pick up those needles and then Maui please. Brothers began seamlessly Mao as four brothers began pulling down. Leaves Twisting Bark and using Bush needles to craft long thick gropes? Maui shifted on his feet uncomfortable at having nothing to do not controlling the situation. Maui wroto noticed Maui. It was you who brought us here. Let us do it needs to be done? I go on in Maui softened as he watched his brother's work Maui Rotas words echoed in his head. He brought them there. He did not have to be ordering people around or lifting heavy things in order to have done something sensible in fact there was even more he could be doing to support his brothers in their task. He could cheer them on. Maui began to clap slowly at first and then more vigorously. Oh what brothers. His claps were so loud that the ground began to shake beneath them soon. His brothers were unable to continue their weaving annoyed. Maui wrote stood and Chuck a small rock at Maui. The Rock smashed into the side of Maui face and he staggered back a few steps. Molly Rodeo grinned at him as the other brothers laughed as I said. Let us do what needs to be done. Maui stared at him in shock but then his face split into a smile. And for the first time Maui joined in his brother's Mirth as they all laughed at his foolishness hours later the brothers had finished the sixteen ropes were tied to the trunk of the whealy. Whealy tree each glistened with the glowing. Strand of hair from NAIDA. The other end of each rope was tied in a circular news. Maui stood over. Them proudly then gazed up at the sky. Still Dark but the hint of light was beginning to show upon the horizon. Kala was coming. Cala will be here momentarily. Take your positions love? Oh we are not staying brother. What but we weren't together now. Family affair all MAUI searched their faces for signs of ill will but could find none. He deflated a bit. He'd just gotten used to the idea of his brothers assistance and now they were abandoning him proves wrong and do not let out too much gas. This time US commoners have enough problems without the air. Starting to sour as brothers departed and he was finally left alone he gaze toward the sky. It lightened even more in the east. Only moments stood in the way of colas passing. Maui hurry to dig a hole at the base of the whealy tree and moved his large body inside of it and then he waited.

"Coming up. Maui realizes that this great mission of his will take considerably longer than he'd ever imagined now back to the story the Demi God Maui had set out on a quest to try and capture cala the sun after a so called here roic feet of his head. Some unforeseen consequences after getting instructions from his mother. He Not Maui had traveled to his grandmother on the northern side of Mount Haleakala. She Fed Cala Cooked Bananas. Each day before he laid down to rest but when Maui told his grandmother about his epoch plan to catch the sun she began to laugh. Maui did not like being laughed at. And he grew ashamed and then angry. He hit the ground hard but his strength was too great. The mountain that they stood upon seemed to buckle and sway from the force of his hit. Maui and his grandmother grabbed onto the whealy tree as they waited with bated breath for the mountain to topple but after a few heart pounding moments trembling stopped only a few rocks fell down from the peak above crashing into his grandmother's campsite and barely missing her hot. Mao As grandmother looked at him angrily. Can you not control yourself? Mo- Buna you are thick as a coconut meant to do that. You laughed at me. Old Woman. No one laughs at Maui or they feel my wrath Mao as grandmother reached out again to slap him across the face. That is for almost destroying. My heart is all powerful. A massive ball of fire. You expect to control him if you cannot control your own emotions. I intend to catch him to snare him. Somehow using my incredible powers see look. Are you looking grandmother? Maui flexed his muscles at her as evidence. His grandmother's side. She did not know if this eager youth before her had it in him to accomplish such a feat but he was here that already was more than any others could say. You need rope. The strongest there is and even then. I do not know if it can be done rope. Yes what kind of tell me I will find it. Oh this is not nearly lying around waiting for someone to happen. The party it you must. We've it yourself out of an indestructible materials. It must be the strongest rope you have ever made and you must make as many pieces as you can. Sixteen at least two for each leg sounds hard but to not for me never for Maui. Tell me where to find this material. Something tells me you will not like this. Next part there is someone with magical hair the strongest in existence. The hair of your sister UTICA. Maui froze dread filled the pit of his stomach at the mention of his sister's name whenever he encountered enough he could not help but be reminded of his false and he often shrank in her presence as he thought about finding her in the depths of the sea. He thought that maybe this task would be better left to someone else. Yes I knew you would not like this. She has a habit of making. You feel small. Does she not no one makes Maui feel small? No one is a family affair this sneering of the sun and after I make the rope you return here. Hide by the Willy Willy Tree when you see collapse first leg appear above you. That is when you strike. Do you need help finding your sister. No thank you grandmother. I know exactly where she is. Maui left his grandmother's camp and face the ocean. He was just in time to see coladas fiery charge over Mt. Holly Ocala then darkness fell once again. Molly waited there in the darkness for some time working up the courage to face his sister. Perhaps this is what his mother meant. When she said his mind must be strong he side. He would not let his fear of as admonishment be the reason he failed in his journey. He needed to continue forward. He took a few deep breaths stomping his feet and flapping his arms as he did so. His arms miraculously grew feathers soon becoming wings. His face on gated into a beak and his eyes turned small and black moments later. He had completed his transformation. And where the strong Demi God Maui had. Once stood was now an immense seagull. He took off into the sky. Swooping amongst the clouds and down into the waves speckles of surf exploded off the water hitting his face as he dove close to the water's surface. He pumped his wings quickly flying as fast as he could for. He knew that if he did not push himself to get to his sister quickly than current would fail him. As he passed a small island he suddenly dove beneath the waves in one fell swoop. As soon as Maui swept below the surface of the ocean. He was once again in his human form despite this he had no trouble breathing beneath the sea as he swam gingerly downward and downward and downward to the darkest depths until he saw what he was looking for a small shack sat amidst coral cluster surrounded by columns of coral and other sea fauna. A light was on within piercing. The darkness of the water like a knife. Maui SWAM TOWARD IT. Powering through the water until he had reached the front door. He hesitated then slowly. Lifted up a hand to knock brother. The door swung open and Maui found himself face to face with his elder sister. She was a small Pale woman with long magical hair that floated about her with an ethereal strangeness it was Shiny Seaweed Like would also glowed with an obvious power on her face. A gentle smile curved up in a slight smirk. She looked her brother up and down and raised an eyebrow. I would have thought you had grown larger by NOW EKA O. Do not be so formal Greek me properly. Eneko pulled Maui into a hug and ushered him inside her home. The door closed with a thud. Molly entered and looked around out in the world. He was in posing towering but inexplicably here in this small shack. He somehow seemed smaller. Eneko flitted about the room moving over to an easel where she was artfully arranging shells in a pattern. She already seemed bored with Maui as she stifled. Yawn. Maui cleared his throat trying to get her attention back. You waste away down here. What do you do to entertain yourself? I like my quiet just like you like your little tricks. Little TRICKS LITTLE ALRIGHT SYSTEM. What you wish. Mother tells me gotten a fat head up there. That is the seals belly by the sound of it. I have accomplished the greatest defeats you. You have no idea you manage to destroy an entire way of life. That is certainly a great feat. Maui closed his eyes trying not to let his frustration. Boil UP HIS SISTER. Knew she had a way of getting to him and he would not give her that pleasure. I have come to ask something of you. Oh Ask then. I- Maui noticed that he night was not looking at him instead. She had busied herself with arranging her shells admiring her slowly. Emerging piece of art he was trying to save the world above and she could not even give him a moment of her time. His fists clenched tightly. But then all at once the fight went out of him as Maui stared at her back. A feeling welled up inside of him. He was sick of being laughed at sick of being underestimated sick of no one recognizing his greatness when all along he had known how great he was but he realized now that he was not going to get admiration by asking for it and more than that he was not going to change his sister's mind when it was clearly already decided and so for once he would not try the thought of no longer carrying what his sister thought of him instilled him with such relief that he let out a short laugh. He did not need her approval just her hair and so as a NI- ignored her pestering younger brother to work on her esteemed art piece. She did not notice him slowly. Drifting through the water behind her his hand stretched out poised to pluck out a few strands of her magical hair but just as his hand near her head. Eneko whipped around and grabbed. Mauer's wrist with shocking speed. Maui winced as her fingers dug into his flesh and and her eyes flashed with malice disk disk little brother. I did not hear you ask nicely..

"Maui hit the ground with an impressive thud breaking into the soil around him and sending rocks flying. He lay there for a moment dazed before gently staggering to his feet. He shook off the shock and looked upward. At the great distance. He'd fallen. He took a moment to smile. Proudly he wished his brothers had seen how high his plunged was but he shook off this moment of pride when he remembered what had caused his fall in the first place Colla. He needed to speak to his mother. At once molly ran across the plain through the mountain pass and down the path that led to the waterfall cave where his mother he lived there. She was once again standing over her damaged. Kappa cloths looking devastated. She side when she her son appear. Oh Maui go out the clouds if you need something to do. I have a plan. That is a good plan. The Best Plan I thought to myself who could possibly come up with such a feat. Why Maui of course? Maui kissed his Bicep as his mother rolled her eyes. She turned back to her kappa Unless your plan is to hold the sun in the sky long enough for my cup to dry than I do not wish to hear yes. Stop your interruptions. What do you mean yes? That is my plan. Exactly he now looked up at Maui. Her attention suddenly focused on her son. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to gauge seriousness. Just COME FROM OUT HOLLY. Okla and listen. I am listening. Maui get overexcited but Maui could not control his enthusiasm. He paced in circles as he told He. Nah about what he had seen using large hand gestures to act out the images. I watch settle in crater there to sleep and I don't exist. He has legs about eight of them long fiery lakes and I think I know that if I chop up his legs he would not be able to cross the sky so fast he picked up a half dry kappa thoughtlessly and it disintegrated in his hands. He now Winston snatched. It's remains away from him out of breath from his tail. Maui waited panting for his mother to say something. You think. You are strong enough to do this. Of course I'm Maui. I raised the sky. I lifted mountains from the water. I warrior cannot fight if he does not know where his armor is. Do not need our Mur. Even this the point molly body is not the only thing you need to be strong in. Maui paused at this. He knows words filled him with doubt he'd never been asked to use his brains before and was not sure how far he could take it but he mulled this over. He slowly smiled mother. Tell me what to do. Maui hit his chest with vigor but accidentally smacked it too hard and began to choke. He now waited patiently for him to recover before beginning her instructions. Very well son you must go back to Mount Holly Al Calla on the northern side of the mountain you will find a small crater beside a Willy Willy Trie. An old woman puts cooked bananas there each day for Allah to eat before he slumbers. You will wait there until Rooster Crows three times and when the old woman's back is turned. You must take the bananas. Stealing from an old woman is hardly the work of a hero. Taking her bananas is the only way to get attention. I should know she's my mother. Maui set out the next morning just before. Kolat began his rapid rampage across the sky. It was dark and windy as he made his now familiar track across the plains between the mountains and toward the base of Mount Holyoke Alah he ida spot in the horizon. Where the Silhouette of a large willy? Willy Tree could be seen on the mountains northern side. He had never met his grandmother before and was excited to show her. What an impressive young man he was. He needed her expertise to she was no mortal having been alive for a very long time and she knew more than anyone about Calla. She had fed him bananas each evening for her entire life as much as Maui hated to admit he needed anyone he knew he could not figure out how to catch Cala without her knowledge. After a short climb me reached the whealy tree and hid behind. Its trunk its canopy. Obscured him but he had a clear view of the small camp that was set up in the crater beside it. There was a small firepit and a shoddily crafted shack. That looked like it was about to fall down. Maui leaned forward to take a closer look but quickly sat back when a rooster began to Cro moly tensed waiting for movement. He had just begun to relax. When a low eerie hum fill the camp moments later? His grandmother stepped out of the Shack with a bunch of bananas in her arms. She moved carefully using her feet. Too slowly guide her to the firepit. Her eyes stared ahead with a deep squint. As if trying to see what was right in front of her. Maui watched as she stumbled over the pit to start a fire soon. The fire was roaring. She Split The bananas off of their stems and lay them in a basket over the flames. Then she turned back to her shack to fetch some spices. Quick as a flash. Maui darted out and stole the bananas out of the basket bringing them back with him to the protective canopy of the tree. When his grandmother returned she moved to season the roasting bananas but stopped in shock. She squinted at the fire unsure if she could trust her. Damaged is the bananas were gone. She looked around feebly but her half blind is not hope of locating Maui in his hiding spot. He looked out at his grandmother. The partially cooked bananas clutched in his arms. He watched as her body shook with unbidden anger and she cried. Out is taking allows bananas more to give him. Maui frowned as he watched. His grandmother raised her nose into the air. And take a deep sniff. She did so again again until soon she was standing at the edge of the tree peering into its canopy. Come out and show yourself instead of cowering within my tree. Oh Salih have a cow word here duly not. I am no coward all right then. No Coward show yourself goaded on by his grandmother's Jabs. Maui slowly stepped out from the whealy. Whealy trees canopy. He smiled broadly waiting for her to recognize this strong specimen in front of her as her own flesh and blood but instead she squinted at him her eyes barely seeing through the immense wrinkly folds in her skin. You do not recognize me. Son My see little these days but more importantly. I do not care who you are just that you get my bananas back. They have Ocala. Maybe Oh care when I tell you who my mother is old woman. I belong to Heena your daughter. Molly was shocked into silence as his grandmother. Slapped him across the face? Not Interrupt your elders. You must be Maui her youngest. I have heard you are quite the mischief maker and by your thievery I can see that. This is true Georgia. I'm no thief I. My mother told me to. I'll grand excuse from one who is. Lolo feeble minded enough. Tell me what troubles bring you hear? The world is in danger. Humanity hangs in the balance if I do not the SDS out with it boy. I am here to catch the sun and you shall tell me how for a long moment. She did not say anything but then she began to laugh. Her stooped shoulders shook with Mirth as she dissolved into hysterics. Maui watched her coldly deeply offended at this turn of events and unwelcomed feeling brewed within him as he stood before his laughing grandmother. It was a shame. His cheeks flushed bright red and he slammed his fist into the ground with a yell. Do not laugh at me. The Earth suddenly began to tremble below their feet. The very mountain seemed to sway from the force.

How to Lead a Less Hurried Life

"So Dr. Like men. Dr. Alan Lightman. Nice to meet you hear remotely I've to meet you opera. Thanks for joining us for this call to unite and also on super so conversations. From the moment I read that article that you wrote in the Atlantic recently title the viruses. A reminder of something lost long ago perfect title. Might I say I was so moved by your words. I've been wanting to talk with you about it so I'm glad we had this opportunity so before we get started. I just want to introduce you all to tell you Who Dr Lightman is? He's a physicist also a humanities professor at Mit you're known as one of the few scientists who is also a bestselling writer of novels and one who embraces spirituality. That's what got my attention. A scientist who embraces spirituality. Sounds like to me. You're a renaissance man. For Time. Such as this well the world has gotten more and more interdisciplinary so we need people that can cross discipline and talk to each other so before we talk about that article in the Atlantic and I was just sharing with you before we that the Atlantic is doing a great job on covert you there so nonpartisan you. You spill the truth in them. I wanted to ask you about an experience that you wrote about in one of your books. Call for the stars on an island in Maine. So you're on a boat at night on the ocean when you had a transformative transcendent experience. Share that with our audience. Will you will. I was coming back to an island late at night after midnight and a clear night and there was no one out on the water and I turned off the engine of the boat and got even quieter than turn off the running lights of the boat in got even darker and I lay down in the boat and just looked up at the sky. And just you just you just me just me on about after midnight. I lay down on the boat and looked up at the at the sky and I felt like I was falling into infinity. I felt like I was merging with the stars and not only with the stars I felt like I was merging with the cosmos was an incredible feeling. I felt like I was part of something larger than myself. And I've been scientists all of my life and But I realized later the Dow was a an experienced it was really not reducible by the methods of science. The feeling that I had of being connected to something big because science does always out to prove a thing. And you're saying that just the experience itself for you and anyone else. Who has that experience? That is proof enough. That's the authority lies the experience itself. No-one can negate the experience that you have. That's pretty amazing coming from scientists. So we're living in a world now at a time where a scientific facts as we can tell from. Every news organization are more important than ever for albro from all the information that we're getting we're living in a time where scientific fact is so important but you say that there is actually room for us understand that there is an invisible and as we just said unprovable but real connection between all living things in the universe. Can you explain a little bit more about that? Well i'd like to distinguish between the physical universe. Which is the subject of science? And what what I might call the spiritual universe and by spiritual universe. I mean the collection of all of those experience that we have where were tied to something larger than ourselves. I'm not talking about organized religion on talking about this very vital personal experience like the one I had lying in the boat and Maine looking up at the stars where we feel connected to things bigger than ourselves and those are two domains the scientists in spiritual h had their own region of validity. Up questions like how old is the earth or what is the cause of climate? Change those light in the physical realm and they are the the realm of science but there are other human experiences that we have like the one we describe lying about looking at the stars that that are not reducible by science and the report of some other world some other existence. I think that's one of the things that connects us as people. Well you know. It's interesting what you describe in the boat. I had an experience like that in two thousand six. I was walking along a road in Maui in an area where the cloud had come down and it was like we were walking through the clouds. You could see only through the cloud. Just a sliver of a of moon and it looked like the moon and my friend said Oh that looks like the DreamWorks Moon. You could put boy up there with a fishing pole and you could just see the sliver of the moon and as we're walking it became so still that I tell you just thinking about. It makes my eyes water. It became so still that I felt that thing that you're talking about in the boat where I felt a connection between all time all life all sp it just felt. I felt expanded. I felt like I felt like I was a part of the clouds. So that's one thing you're talking about. Yes that's the same thing and I think many I think all of us have had experiences like this One of the aspects of the experience you're describing and I imagine you felt to is. Is You you lose your body. You lose track of your ego you lose track of yourself you lose track of time. It's a beautiful experience is Dr Lightman. Is that just a glimpse? That's just a glimpse of what at what is right. That's a glimpse at the full present moment that we speak. So much of this is a tiny little glimpse. Just please call me Alan. Yes that's Okay Allen Dr Allen. Now that we're talking about transcendent experiences we should be. Yeah Yeah it's a glimpse it's a glimpse of something and of course we don't know with that larger thing is. Einstein said someone asked him whether he was a spiritual person or believe or something and he said I feel like we are children going into a library and we see a lot of books in the library written in different languages and we don't. We can't read the books but we know that somehow they got there that something produced those books. Yeah you know. I'm thinking that this pandemic as a massive reset for the world and I know that you believe that we have a chance to choose a less hurried life. Now you wrote about that in the Atlantic article and you write that we've been living too fast. We have sold our inner cells to the devil of speed efficiency. Money hyper connectivity progress. I know you are a whole book on this topic. Call in praise of wasting time but this time that we have white now. Do you think that this is a perfect time to be reset and to do what we're talking about? Be more united. Yeah well I think there is a silver lining to the the virus and then of course when you say that you have to. I acknowledge the tremendous human suffering. This going on the billions of people don't even have clean water to wash their hands so millions of people who've lost their jobs people lost their jobs and we need to celebrate the the care workers and the people working in grocery stores. That are keeping everything going. You know what this time has done. It is allowed us to see that the people who you for for many people overlooked and were just a part of your daily life how necessary everyone is more your life to be lived comfortably and well yes yes it gives us a greater appreciation of the end of an invisible people that make our lives run But I think that there might be one or two silver linings to this devastation. And one of them is that it is forcing many of us to slow down Of course you have to have a certain amount of privilege to be able to slow down. But I hope that we can become conscious of of the frenzy of our normal lifestyle. Where most of the Runaround checking off items on our to do list Being connected to the grid. Twenty four seven. Everything is scheduled up and we haven't had the time to think about who we are to reflect on what's important to us To be quiet and still and I I believe that one of the possible benefits of this period. We're going through now. Is that it's forcing some of us to slow down

"This sort of landed in the middle on on the one hand the ninth circuit which is where this case came from. Court of Appeals. Etcetera permit was required And use what they call the fairly traceable test To to determine whether the connection between the discharge and surface water was a direct enough And accorded determined under that test. The permit was required of Maui county on the other hand. Epa in the case urged in the in the county itself urge the different tasks and said. Look there's no jurisdiction over groundwater or discharges to groundwater in the clean water act and therefore no terminators acquire core district with both arts it rejected the ninth circuit position which they felt really opened the door to A lot of more permits being required if there was some kind of connection between a discharge and the surface lar- But it also rejected the position that there's no jurisdiction period instead the court said well if there's a direct discharge or the functional equivalent of a direct is charged to surface water. Then there is jurisdiction in a permit will be required so the acid test the court say whether Maui county needed a permit said since the lower coordinated apply the wrong legal test. It's the case back or the ninth circuit to determine whether in fact the permit was required. What implications do you think this this may have? You said it's going to go back to the ninth circuit for that piece You have this kind of middle middle ground ruling different opinions and a lot of different stakeholders of people involved in all this and and so. What implications do you think this will have? What do you think we're going to see happen next and especially What do you think the implications are four? You know the Water Utility sector in the wastewater sector while I think that there's potential for a lot of confusion in litigation in rulemaking in the court recognized that They were enunciating fairly big test and a test that people might not know exactly how to apply. At least I nevertheless this test they thought made sense and they basically left it to the courts and to PA to define it further so the the concern for municipal utilities. Is that right now? It's not clear if you have say according to cater well if you had a discharge to groundwater and it didn't get the surface water for fifty miles and there's a lot of other stuff in between that's probably not required to get a permit but if you had planned to was next to a river and the went into groundwater for like three feet and then into the surface water from the groundwater that probably does require a permit well there's a lot of situations in between those two and therefore we're gonNA leave it to the courts in EPA. Hammer that out. So what I expect is we're probably going to get a lot of lawsuits from when Ronald Groups. Contending that somebody is you discharging for example you could have a plant next to a river and often Municipal Treatment Plans are next to rivers. And maybe you have a basin aunt that might leak into the soil and that into the aquifer underneath and then into the river does that constitute a discharge that you have to get a permit for that. You've never gotten a permanent floor before and there's a good question. Well how would you even permit that you? It's not like a pipe. It's might be leaks. Go into the groundwater surface water. How do you apply permit to that? How do you look for the forty standards to that? We don't know that's the potential is that cases could be brought alleging that those kinds of facilities or septic tanks for example That definitely you know. Stuff goes from septic tanks into the ground and into ground water and then into surface water will win is close enough to the surface. Water that you're going to have to get a permit what other cases aren't though makes environments will bring cases on that issue now do claim. That permits are required. That aren't currently required and courts will have to work that out now. Epa could clarify things by issuing regulation may setting up some More Bright Line tests there. But you know that usually takes a while that could take a few years to would have ruled together. That rule could be challenged. I in terms of whether it meets the tests in the court in Maui decision and even then you know during that time period you have a lot of cases brought so. I expect a lot of uncertainty in confusions. People are always saying that could be the next waters of us an issue or EPA acts on a regulation. But there's aunt aunt. Duda Supreme Court decisions and then there's a lot of confusion litigation and uncertainty for a number of years. That's the sern- is that that may be where we're heading now with. This issue is a prolonged period of uncertainty while these issues get hammered out. We've figured out where the where the dividing lines are to the common person they. They think they often think the supreme court rulings are kind of the end of the line. And then you've got a direction but a an attorney such as yourself knows. This is in many ways. Almost another beginning to this This chapter involving federal agencies more lawsuits than in all kinds of angles. Right yes Sometimes they do resolve things if they had decided with EPA they had agreed with EPA that there's no jurisdiction over groundwater or discharges to groundwater than That would've resolved things that would have put an end to it and They're really would not have been much further litigation. Didn't see it that way And I think they your were fully aware that they may be opening the door for off further litigation but they felt that the the the two positions on either side just in fit their view of the Statute of Water Act so they couldn't adopt those. Are they also saw practical problems? with with those positions and One one brought into much in the other brought him to little so they were trying to sort of do the goldilocks thing and figure out what was just right. Ethnic think they even just right but recognized that it's not the sort of bright line tested people look for well. We will all have to stay tuned in. See what the next dominoes are here in this situation. But Fred I appreciate you coming on and little light on what has happened with the Supreme Court ruling. So thank you so much. You're welcome to help.

"He's a big mistake. I was a manager on the team for her Sunday. We're up in Ohio this week in golfing and he he brought it we. We were talking about this scandal. We want to call it. I Don I think scandals too strong work Arizona State booster that is sexually harassing was sexually harassing people including Bobby Hurley's wife including a an associate athletic director's wife. That associated electric was fired and now he's suing the school saying the reason was fired is because he went to the athletic director said this. Mantis harassing my wife. Do something about it. They said yeah but he gives us money so we're not going to do anything about it. There's this whole story. It's bad it feels like they kind of have taken care of whatever But the noteworthy thing to me was Schwartz. Who is sort of plugged into the scene? He said to me when he saw the story he knew exactly who the guy was and then he read the story and it was actually a different guy. Just never. That's never good. That's so apparently there's multiple people in the sports. I was certain it was this guy but it was actually a different guy. Which makes me really worried that this other guy there are multiple Arizona state. That was the that was the PAC twelve updated. They've won six games in a row. Ucla first place by themselves. Yeah that's great. Yeah the eighty four eighty four to sixty six. We always have to bring that up because Ucla fans were at the very excited about this whole new run which gets us to UCLA RIGHT. The darlings of the media. Everyone is right there with Mick Cronin. They're like he's got this team playing defense. They had zero turnovers in the second half against Colorado on Saturday. Zero turn grow and if you watch. Ucla play this year. That seems like the most made up. You told us in December when we saw the North Carolina at the CBS Classic. If you came up dozen said. Ucla against a ranked team web zero terms in the second half. I'll probably would have bet my life. That's impossible yeah like ability but it's not because Mick Cronin has these guys buying the power of negative thinking threatened to be murdered Charles. Your coach I'm going to turn the ball down and then you build them back up and apparently. Ucla has built back up. Which is that. It's more news in the PAC twelve again Arizona. State the hottest team not the best team. Ucla maybe the team also is not in the tournament quite yet yes where we are but also Oregon has the best player and is also hot. Yes because they are also getting crunch time in overtime this their fifth overtime to win in overtime right but then Arizona is literally the hottest. Because Sean sweats on the sidelines. Absolutely sweating a lot of hot dreams of the packers we currently. I have the standings in front of me. Are you ready through them? Arizona state ten and four first place by themselves yes. There's a three way tie for second between Colorado Organ in the Ucla Bruins. The aforementioned UCLA Bruins at ten and five there half game back and Arizona's nine and five so a four game back Arizona of Arizona State but we have a lot of action this week and we have you and I are we. Are we committing going to both these games? I think we are yes. Ucla's hosting the Arizona's schools is also hosting terrorism schools but USC cares Arizona State at Ucla on Thursday so that's first place versus tied for second place and then Arizona is at Ucla on Saturday. Wow Wow this. Is The a lot of basketball left over the hottest team in the pack twelve will be this Thursday night and we will be there. We'll be in the building. We'll be able to report first hand. Who is in fact the hottest Bobby Hurley Cronin? Who WILL GET MORE UPSET? Who will sweat more? Who Will Yell more? We don't know Bobby Hurley my favorite gifts like on twitter of all time of anyone is Bobby Hurley. He's yelling at the REF. The ball gets hit over claps him knocks him out he goes down and tell the REF is just like thank. God like this guy got knocked out and then he gets up for a split second. Baba hero is not happy at all but he is doing great speaking of Hurley did you see the Bobby Hillary's brother Dan? Hurley has been subpoenaed by Kevin Ollie. It was handed to his house. Yeah you got served at Your House. You Got Sir. Literally got served at his house by Kevin Ollie. For the the Kevin Ollie Arbitration. He's going through with Yukon. Because you can't fired him said we have caused and said what your cause and then we all got to make the joke of. Its Causey sucks coach basketball and remember the story. That was a good cause. I think a lot of people were like. I don't know that whole lawsuit going on. It's a read on what people what people think should have because in my mind like yeah of course. Kevin broke some rules. He's a college basketball coach. Like you can't believe a fish for swimming. You know what I forgot. What are we doing here? Pay The man that was my stance but then you go on twitter and people seem to be split like even Yukon fancy split as to what should happen like whether there should be paid the money he was owed or if he did breach his contract. Whatever as it's going back tug tug of war like you know what I'm GonNa Introduce Dan Hurley into this mix because Dan Hurley was the Rhode Island coach as I was going through all this and I don't know but also he's getting paid by the squeeze getting my money and he's not trying to pocket watch but he is also say you got my money and I need that and I need that right now because that's my money and Dana taking charges on the sidelines. Like this is your Mans like this is the guy that's taken. This is taken charges. I'm out here winning National Championships and this is what I'm dealing with. So I think Kevin pay them in. Give him his money he does. This is the day we've gotten to UCONN. Yeah so that's always always. Do you WanNa talk about the other teams packed. All the the last undefeated team in college basketball. Yes because again. This was a big day for us because we had talked about going to the weekend for the listeners. That don't know we were going to go to this game. We're going to go down to San Diego State. We'RE GOING TO WATCH HIS UNDEFEATED TEAM. Soar into the annals of college basketball history. And what did they do? Mark Titus a West Coast. Us put up done. They ran out of time. What they did they ran out of time. They did not lose why they were coming by. And we didn't even talk about it because we're like we WANNA Jason. You know these guys. They got a lot. Golly talked about it we came on the show. Guys go to a game there. Were like what we're thinking about it. And then he has the audacity to put it on us that we use them like we didn't. We weren't gonNA talk about it. He's one of brought it up in the now it falls on us We're still going. I think right yeah I think so. I think we're GonNa see I feel tomorrow morning. One see two or three seed and then I still see bragging towel again. Put out there them as a one-seat one game three seed eating. I mean admit it. I feel like whatever their resume says. The committee is is licking their lips. Condoleeza Rice as she watched that game. They're living their lives at the opportunity to do state. Of course I was very disappointed. I think this is this is this was a game where you talk about when when when people talk about how like teams should lose before it's not good to go to the NCAA tournament undefeated a game like this. Why because you're watching the last five or six minutes senior status panicking like crazy? They're not playing. I mean it was mind blowing. The plane like they were downtown. Ten with a minute to go say they were not playing Aztec new that we understand. This is not as not not not our guys. What is going on now? Let's figure this out. You're playing Cougar Basketball Malachi. Yeah no but they panicky like crazy. Matt Mitchell was like Outta control. It was unbelievable and I was thinking like it was. It was pretty clear that they weren't trying to stay the course and win the game and they were. They were very clearly like shit. They're going to blow this undefeated season. They were playing to win. They were playing to not lose. Whatever the terminology was. It was very clearly like they had a different vibe of the kids at home. You play to win. Yes and I think this is what you talk about because like when you go to the tournament and your undefeated and you do have the extra you can say as much as you want to like. You're trying to win every game and NCAA tournament just like you are trying to win every other game. But if you're undefeated there is extra pressure it's like Shit we've come all this way. We can't live blow it now right but yeah you can get it out of the way blow it now and then now you can now. We can proceed more loss. I think this this is a good loss because again they were down and they made a nice little. Come back again again. I sent you the screen shot of the score because again planning to go to the game on Tuesday so I'm court let me check in on this. Cbs sports hard to find The CBS sports channel. That they were on anyways. Pull my phone look it up. I'm like wow course it's going to be L. But then they make a nice little. I turned it on and they make a nice little run and I'm like they were making a nice run up. They didn't ask basketball. They were they were simultaneously making nice run but also panic. They're nice run was spearheaded by great defense. It was really by Penny. They're like pressing and then they were planning bomb. Unlv was Blowing it. They couldn't make a shot Mitchell long so that was helping matters then when we get the ball they were also panicking on offense. Yes it was just full blown panic and it helped me come back up the rush and no one really understands what's going to happen in the end because all these teams are jumping up together. Yeah Mitri Long said I did see this quote after he did the interview with Andy. Katz the like the is the post game interview on Skype with indicates. The new like Jim nance tight. That's the regular season gymnast tie..

Polynesian Explorers

"Thompson has been in examining oral histories the records of Captain Cook and the accomplishments of the Polynesian voyaging society. All to investigate what it can tell us about how we view the world. Today she pieces together the navigation puzzle of sailors and settlers in her book. See People Christina. Welcome thanks for having me. So when when we think of Polynesia talk about how big it is and what it has in common culturally so Polynesia is the area that is inside of this triangle we'll formed by Hawaii in the North New Zealand in the southwest and Easter Island in the southeast. It's an area of about ten million square miles and it smack in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and it happens that all the people who live on the islands in this area which is the island's that people have heard of like Tahiti or saw more or maybe the mark cases they all share a common cultural heritage. They all speak related languages and they have a similar genetic. Ming up no Christina. You say ten million square miles and originally they were not populated by human beings at all so somehow people had to get there and there was no communication. People didn't right. They didn't have metal tools. They didn't have navigational devices that I can imagine. Can you just kind of paint a picture to the best that we can. We're were there caravans of canoes just going out into the unknown C or how did these islands become populated originally well. I think one thing we don't know is how many canoes necessarily sailed together but basically the idea is that you know some thousands of years ago over in what sometimes people call the island nursery Sirri of Southeast Asia in the islands around the Philippines and Indonesia and stuff people developed an outrigger. which is this thing that sticks out from the side of the canoe to keep it balanced to keep it from from tipping over and with the development of the outrigger people started to be able to make some longer distance? Voyages and the canoes the Polynesian sailed in were like Catamaran's they had to halls else and they were stable and they could carry a load of people and animals and so they started making longer and longer voyages. There's some again some thousands of years ago from this western side of the Pacific out further and further and further into the mid Pacific. But it must have been hit or miss because they didn't have maps. They didn't have radar. They didn't know where the islands were if they were islands. Do you think they were just kind of going toward the sunset and hoping to hit land now the sunrise is actually but they obviously looking for islands and the islands are what they call inter visible. You can see one from. I'm the other in the Western Pacific. A lot of them are. There's a big leap when they get past that point and they start to sail out to islands that you can't see so they're probably exploring hiring and looking for them they really were amazing navigators. They weren't sailing blinds. They understood how to go to one place and sail back from that place after. Remember where that place was and things like that. They must have been exploring but we don't really know how they found islands like the end of Hawaii. Which is the islands of Hawaii are very isolated in the North Pacific? How did they find them who knows because we have no written history people? Just build a raft. That was kind of like one of those early outriggers Imagining how they might have done it and just without knowing if they did it prove that they could have done it like those. Expeditions seemed to be part of science right right so the the earliest one was was to Harles kon-tiki raft which he he allowed to drift basically from the coast of South America and ended up in the middle of the Pacific on the tomatoes. And that was an kind of an early experiment in this vain but then in the nineteen seventies in Hawaii some people got together and decided to try and build a true replica vessel so a copy of what they imagined. An ancient Polynesian voyaging canoe would been like and they decided to try and sale it from Hawaii to Tahiti and back again and that was the beginning of what what is really kind of an experimental voyaging movement in Hawaii. And what was that expedition called. The ship was called Hokule'a it Okla has made an around the world voyage now but that was in two thousand sixteen I guess but between Nineteen Seventy in two thousand sixteen they have made voyages absolutely everywhere. They sailed to to Easter to New Zealand. All around the Pacific to the point is to prove that it could be done yet to show the voyaging capacity of the Polynesians basically to show that non instrumental. Navigation vacation is really a thing and that people can go very long distances using it. You know that it's a real technique. You said they sailed it. Is it drifting with the wind and the tides is it with a sale or is it paddling they have a sale. They have a steering paddle but they sail. What were the very first contact with European society like in the Polynesian World? Some of them were violent. Some of them were not. We don't have any idea what the markes ins thought of men Donya when he arrived Zeppelin we know record of it and what I mean. There's the record of the Spanish but we don't really know for sure what archaisms thought There was a little bit of that I think. In some cases there it was all in some cases there was fear in some cases. There was something that you might call. Greed greed Westerners. No on the part of the I mean I. I think that a lot of islanders actually looked at these ships once they realized kind of what was going on and who these people were they actually wanted the ships. There are definitely stories of ambushes. Did they have some kind of A religious context again in the case of the conquistadors from Spain I mean in their religion I understand. It was on this certain year. A man on a horse you know was going to come and on that certain year the man on the horse with the beard came just like their scripture said and they disfigured this must be divided and they laid down their weapons and was there any kind of dimension of that local cultural religion with the arrival of the first Europeans pins or was it the opposite The story of Cook's arrival in Hawaii is kind of like that story that he arrived during a festival in he seemed to be the embodiment of the deity. Who was being celebrated in the Festival because switches to happen that he arrived at that time? I think that that added to the confusion of cooks experience. AGREEANCE cook was killed in Hawaii. That was where he died. And it was not long after this encounter during this festival period and I think it added to sort of chaos and confusion that he had Iraq during that a period. This is travel with. Rick Steves talking with Christina Thompson. Her book is see people the Puzzle of Polynesia and we're talking about early explorers of the Pacific both before the Europeans arrived and after so captain cook arrived and they thought. Oh It's a festival in here comes God and then things went sour and they killed killed them. Tell us a little more about that. So what happened. Is that Cook. He went up north to Alaska and then or the Northwest Pacific and then he came down and when he came down he was looking for a place to rest his crew and he sort of hit the island of Maui and then he went east so he sailed all the way around the big island before he found a place to come to rest his crew and that meant that he was sailing in his ship all the way slowly because against the wind all the way around the big island for quite a while and so when he arrived the legend of Lono the God that he sort of seemed to be representing was that Leno passed around the island in the same. I'm way he was represented as carrying a staff with White Tapa cloth on it which is sort of like the the ship to mass in their sales so just a lot of things lined up kind of strangely initially and then what happened was he. They went through all this festival these festivals and celebrations and then Cook sailed away and that should have been the end of it he should have just sailed away that would be fine but his mast broke just offshore and he had to return and when he returned he wasn't supposed to return according to the legends. He wasn't supposed to come back until the next year. So people were confused by that and then there was an altercation. He died in the clash not long after he returned.

Hacks to Make Your Resolutions Stick

"We have a really special treat today to kick off twenty twenty so I imagine most of us have been making some form of resolution the last decade was about x and the next decade is going to be about why Z.. and Ab and see well in order to accomplish X. Y. Z. A. B. and C.. We probably need some plants some way to execute our goals and dreams our guest today. BJ Fog is going to help us do just that. He is one of the world's foremost experts on behavior. Change and how to start in create habits. That are actually GonNa stick and actually going to work so anybody's diet plan. Meditation plans desires for the future that you want to have in the semi perfect perfect you that will be evolving the beautiful butterflied cocoon that we have been in the last decade. Here's a man who may make some portion of those dreams slightly slightly more true welcome bt are no thank you for inviting. It is my sincere pleasure I question how was your New Year's. Oh my gosh it was. It was in transition. It was good. I mean it's great to start a new decade but my book launch has been planned for in years eve two thousand nineteen three days ago for two years. So there's been and we moved from Maui to California and then moved on here to go work So it's been busy but The books out and the response has been really really grade and so I guess the answer is it's been an awesome way to start this decade. So you've started the decade with your New Book Tiny Habits and today you're going to share a little bit about the methodologies that you recommend in it I yes yes. I'm so excited. So if somebody's GonNa make habit change what's the best way to do. It loaded question the way that we've been taught for decades How the culture thinks about habits most of it is wrongheaded takes us in the wrong direction? I'm excited about sharing is a way to create habits into change our life that works in. It's easy in its task. Actually if you do the right way it and it's not guesswork so I'll breakdown. Some of it goes deeper into some of the parts. But first and foremost start with forming habits that you want in not ones that you feel like you should have new years eve all of a sudden just coming to kick me in the ASS. Yes yes you know. What doesn't doesn't work? You know this is kind of what we've been set up is like okay. You just pick a should something you should do and somehow magically you can motivate yourself itself to get it done. I just don't see any evidence in everyday life research networks long-term but what does work is picking what you want want to the tiny Abbas method Hick habits that you want to be super easy and super small. So let's say you want to read more. Yeah so pare that back to not even read one chapter but read one paragraph or maybe even one sentence and then find where that new habit. The teeny teeny. Tiny behavior fits in your life. Naturally in the tiny habits method. You look for wet Kennett come after so reading for example might right lodge by come really well after you sit down on the train on your way to work then you open. Your book can read a paragraph An obvious one that I talk about the law is glossing comes after you brush so the tiny house arrest beaver. That is after I I will fly and in this case it's one tooth 'cause you parrot back to be super tiny and then there's a the third part of the tiny habits method. Is You wire in the habit by what I call celebrating writing you fire off a positive emotion and that helps us. You know that emotions change how our brain works and in this case of the celebration. The positive emotion helps your brain like remember and want to do that behavior again. So you're basically self-reinforcing but you're not doing it how you're doing it deliberately. You have by now. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people have done this. I know you've watched behavioral change categorically step by step over literally tens of thousands of people to identify bit by bit what makes the most effective habit change. Our do have a study where I had. Some people sell a true experiment where people randomize some people celebrated some people didn't celebrate and clearly different effects. It's a fundamental mental piece. I mean when we look at really any discipline. I live a lot in the world of healthcare in the world of meditation in the world of fitness and each of these worlds. We look at how you create habit a change and the behavioral pieces the hardest part we all know there are things that we should do. That are good for us and we just don't do them. Why don't we eat? Well you know. Why don't we exercise as much as we should know? Amount of information is going to actually shift your behavior and the question always is but what does so. Let's talk about one one other thing that most people listening here care about. And it's thing that people most commonly asked me. How do you start the habit of meditation? Or how do you get yourself to meditate meditate more often. Well this is why I like is this is why before we started recording. I told you what a huge fan I am news. Here's why I think meditation a hard habit to wire factors. Were really busy and but I think as we've talked about what why isn't a habit is the feeling of success. Yes it is so hard for people as they start to meditate feel successful they sit down and they still frustrated. I'm guessing I haven't studied up on you know. I know what what needs to be there for the habit to form and I know in my own experience and you know just casually talking to others not studying got scientifically is people. Just sit down notices. How busy their minds are so? They're not feeling successful. So that's not going to wire the habit what I loved about about us. Was it the little birds chirping those celebrations. You did right. I was getting at permission. I'm getting signalled signalled. I was succeeding. And that was a game changer for me because otherwise I don't know if I'm succeeding when I met a day so tonight you've just actually planned my mind because we knew we were doing it when we built it but we didn't have your thesis that it fell into to validate like. Oh we're doing this because it it is the self reinforcement in this way. The lavelle sort of him so because there's no way I can know that I'm doing something with my brandon brainwaves but what the news you you've you've indicated even even people can tune into like that was really stormy and rainy but now it's getting calmer and they lowered the bar for themselves so that you're not hearing chirping. You're able to calm the rain a little bit. That's great again then. Eventually you'll hear turbines like August. While I threw me because I got so excited I was thrown out but later I could bring them on and it just made me. It helped me feel successful so I have to tell you the chirps. The bird trips are actually also away to undermine the goal directed nature of this and bring back a mindfulness principal so everybody the first time they hear bird. If you don't know what it is just like okay. That was a bird as soon as you know that a bird is reward. You're like Oh my God I got a bird and you get really excited. And then the bird flies away so it is our way to suddenly subtly reinforce the habit while at the same time not getting you totally invested in your awards so you have to become come as invested in your rewards as you are in your failures essentially equanimity to them both in order to actually. That's the that's the subtle. Mindfulness awfulness a lesson that we imbued within. I love that well. I think it's great. I think it's terrific now. If somebody doesn't have that product I think to to reframe what successes as a meditators like just sitting on your mad sitting celebrate the fact that you actually did it and and I think the mistake is an expert on meditation. But if you think I'm GONNA have a coal mine like the Buddhist monk and that's the standard of success years Tanaka wire in the habit so just you have to re frame what success in meditation is so you can achieve that Tillis achievable also. You can deal successful every time you meditate every time and and and I think maybe somebody's done it I haven't mapped it all out but you know the simplest thing might be the fact that you actually sat there. You sat on the Mat and you took three mindful brass Bam. I know before I had views but I really focused on was just can I get three breasts without my mind wandering just three just three and it was hard but that was the standard if I could do it. It's like okay good for me. Let's see if I can do it again. Just three US us without my mind going up so it wasn't like a high bar but it was some way that I could feel successful. Oh but that took some effort. I do like the pink. I love that Adams. If you're trying to meditate call you to gotta how to do. Sit on the cushion. If you've nailed sitting on the cushion all you gotTa do is get three breaths.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton Honors Lawyer Bryan Stevenson’s Work in ‘Just Mercy’

"Hello and welcome to another edition of they call spruce and unfiltered conversation about what's happening in Asia America. I feel you Jeff Yang and we're here with a very special guest a filmmaker crater of note storyteller of many things including a certain upcoming superhero movie. But we are not GonNa talk about that Superhero movie. We're GONNA be talking today about a real life superhero movie His film just mercy which is coming out from Warner brothers. In Limited release in December December twenty fifth. I believe and wide in January January tenth. It is the story of Bryan Stevenson. Anson the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative which is a critical nonprofit organizations that advocates for death. Row inmates providing them many cases a gasp of hope before the the actual kind of Mon execution occurs in the context of that Destin tells the story of how Brian Created this organization and some notable first cases that it that led to the organizations becoming a pillar of this particular movement so destin first of all welcome welcome to the show. It's great to be here so we want to start with a little bit with some of your background. I guess you're from Hawaii originally right. Yeah I grew up in Hawaii. And how did you actually embrace still making as a career. It was a it was along the long road to getting to the place where I actually admitted that I was embracing it as a career I I grew up. There is six kids in my fam family. We lived in a small town on Maui called Haiku Right next to a huge pineapple apple field. And we we we. My mom barely let us watch TV. So we're always outside kind of forced us to have to do creative things things and when my my grandma got her first. VHS camera that that she allowed me to borrow That that became kind of the thing that that I would do to pass. The time was make little commercials and short films with my five siblings things as my actors and so from an early age. I knew that I loved it. Loved the process And and so it was a hobby of mine All the way through college. I didn't I didn't go to film school. I got a degree in communications. And it wasn't like 'til my senior year that I did my first short film and then just kept doing short films for fun for about ten years. And eventually it snowballed Walden started to turn into something that I made money out. The short shorts got less short so it was that short film. The one that actually Connected with Brie Larson or was that that I short film without later one short term twelve was was was was a short. It was actually my eighth short film Every other show had been rejected from sundown and short-term twelve is the first time that but I got the call from Sundance saying that we're we got in and then The stars aligned and ended up winning the jury prize at Sundance Site Year And that that was like a big first stepping stone into being able to do this as a job. The film that got the feature that got everyone sort of noticed that. Notice you in a lot of people's minds was was the future for short-term twelve and I look really revisit just looked at the the credits for that film and I was like stunned to see all these young actors. There's who are now like huge stars sort of planning their seeds there. I was wondering like when you look back at that. Like what is your impression of their careers. Your career now like looking looking at all that it seeing like wow. I really had an eye for talent. I don't really see see it that way I I just see as Wow it's so cool to see my friends being doing what they love. And being so successful at it I Yeah I mean I feel really really kind of grateful to that Our our little group has all kind of gone on to do such extraordinary things. It's it's really cool so One of the screwing things. The one we're going to talk about today is is of course this film just mercy and we saw it like I mentioned to you before stories started taping last night at the screening. I was so moved that I actually donated to equal justice initiative before I left the theater I I was struck by how necessary the film was the the story was telling and the work of equal justice initiative in an era where feels increasingly like people of Color immigrants Poor people live under a different system. Like like a different set of laws than people who have more and who have the power to and resources to fight fight back. What what it drew you to the story initially? And how did you actually connect with it. Thank you for donating TJ. Let's a a- and and your reaction is really what we hope. This movie does is introduce people to the amazing work that Brian has has been consistently doing back when you wasn't a hot topic when it was actually it almost looked down upon to to be doing the work that he's doing It's it's the way that the Brian puts it as the our our system. Treats you better if you are rich and guilty than if you are poor innocent And and that is just Incredibly sad but the thing about Brian that that was so so inspiring to be around was that he is not this cynical kind of depressed guy walking around doing this this this works. That is so difficult. He actually has a bounce to his step he has so much energie And and he has so much hope He he actually believes that. You can't do the type of work that he does without hope because hope is the things that allows you to have vision for something that you cannot see and every project that he he embarks on feels impossible at the moment that he's starting But it's the the hope that that allows him to to zinc that. This could change that. There is a way to to change the hearts and minds of the people behind a broken system And and as as much as you know as much as this movie was may taking place in the late eighties early nineties And there there are a lot of things especially recently that that has have even gone backwards And there's a ton of work and and to be done I also Brian Stevenson's work and his life has proven that one person can really make a difference in the difference. That he has made is pretty incredible. I think the hope speak of definitely shines through in the film and it's a light light in serve the most bleakest services you know air hope seems to be short supply in and this really gross systemic abuse injustice and it would make anybody the most cynical I think but the thing about is like you're talking about a real person and so it's not just a fictional movie like superhero or real person right. I wonder what kind of burdens you felt. If at all I mean about representing his story about the writ you know the real life person You know you're dealing with real facts. Real real real personality. I mean what kind of things that you go through in making the film that you kind of pressure to put yourself A lot of threats a a lot. I it's rare as a filmmaker to be able to to tell a story about a person who is Still as active right now in the work that that he does as he was thirty years ago. We're not we're not telling a bio pic of someone who it has passed away or who were not just trying to you know Glamorize somebody's life just to just so you have the information Where where telling a story that you can actually leave the theater and donate to this organization or we're going volunteer somewhere or go and listen to Bryan? Stevenson speak He the day before he came and visited us on say he was. He was arguing in front of the Supreme Court He's he has actively he's actively doing words that he speaks and his words are incredibly powerful because he backs it up with his life and I just just never met a A man or or or woman who has more Dedicated to to to just making the world more fairer place for the most vulnerable people in our society. So I mean I I had a lot of pressure put on myself to not screw it up Because anytime around Bryan Stevenson I just feel so unworthy but he he's very inspiring person to be around.

"So bad I mean that is the. That's the the scared version of you. Know a good job actually like I you got to the point you did you did actually save for the detractors before I hit him with haters there's and then when I said haters every single journalist in the room is just started towards the built in the back of my head and I was like man. This is one of these times. I think this has to be recurring schtick for you at any time we go press conference. Whoever wins the game it just eighty regular season? It doesn't matter it doesn't matter what level we'll go to go to watch What what's the Sierra Canyon? uh-huh running James Play Kid. We're going to one of their games and if they do a press conference with the coach well I think every single time. Do you have a message for the haters that that should be your staple over. What is the point of our press conference either? Praise those who are on your team or to attack. WWe thing is going to be there. Never microphone and you're looking at camera you might as well call them out and bill. He gave a great answer because he was basically like the team has haters. I definitely have haters. Bueller ain't no me but like the team we don't talk to them about this stuff. You actually got a good answer. It was I think he liked that. I said haters because he tells them he say. This is a great difference because every single player coach. Everyone did it to me right now. I would start talking for thirty minutes if you're like. Do you have a best fuck. Yeah construction of the haters in their life. You know what I mean. Everyone is made up who they are and they eight point amount like Indiana the guy that was like trying to challenge to a one on one game against Kyle played basketball anything like. That's who I'm thinking I'm talking to and it is kind of one of those things where like bill has become Sochi Johnson. All walking around here just being really yeah. I think that's the real answer. Because he's like I'm a champion. Dotson was so happy to win a trophy bouquets. Looks like he was happy smiling. And you know if you're bill. Sell everything that you did to this point. Good bad ugly. Whatever your champion haters? This is great. This is you gotta be. I think I think we have two goals. I want to see how many times you can ask. Do you have a message for the haters of these press. Coverage is my goal is I I have chicken. Shit I'm very gotcha cowered in these Prescott because there are times I would ask questions your whole now. Though rain is that the plan will hold out to you trying to talk to pretend like I had to play really I was Gonna ask something. I feel my heart beating back in college or stay out of your day one interesting flex dollars when you're struggling for life breath. I remember your freshman class at whatever school everyone listening goes through. And you're sitting there and the professors like stand up. Say you're major something interested in or something interesting about you fucking nothing interesting about me and then you say something as soon as you say. You're like shit this other thing or the girls. The other girls at the room was probably think that nowadays should thought that that's how I felt. I was like So the points opera workout. This Michael is Marsha Whitewell to ask the question to. That's that's really because to me was bill selves. Couldn't chicken out. You have a good thing now because like you. You know what you'RE GONNA ask. Every time you're that's he's here he's here he's GonNa ask them questions about the haters can. Can you imagine what spark aiders. It's actually in fact I do it. They'd be pepper died by to tip at the BUZZER Scott. Works for the haters long way to go with that. Ed You have a you have a question already locked and loaded that you can ask every time for me. The struggle is like. Is this actually. A good question is worth their time. I think in my head. It's like if I open my mouth south and I I start talking to bill self. It better be something good. I I want bill self the want to be my best friend. I want to say something. So insightful it's like bill belichick like he won't give any answers but every every so often someone who has bill bell check like. Hey the pulling guard seemed to really get out in front there on that one. Play when you guys run it in his eyes light up and he's like I respect that guy. That's what I want. So one of the question comes into my mind panicking. I'm like I don't think that's GonNa check as like what I'm like. I don't think that's enough. I don't think that's going to get as respect So then I panicked. My heart starts beating. I get nervous and then I don't do it then and then you raise your hand really I will say I did. I did count. Did the worst thing you could do. I asked to legitimate questions Russians the days before to make sure that when I did say haters there would be you know I was going to be like a backlash room to kick this guy out forever but again you know I kind of I check it out a little. Yeah so it wasn't the same we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA see a title game. Kansas ones national title title. I will promise you this I will be at the press conference. We will be the press conference. It's your question. I know the last portion which is coach.

"It's very much like that. Let's talk about the game itself the breakdown XS and Os. That's why people listen to us. They they really really knew. I knew that that breakdown of illustrator. Let me let me explain basketball. You Dumb fucks folks listening to this right here bounce pass okay. Ball's GonNa hit the ground going to bounce back up in J if you're listening I do. Let me rewind. Every time I've met Bilas I five or six times every time I see him. I always come away wondering if he thinks I don't like him because like we interact on twitter and all like Joe. Obviously I we joke about. It's wrong thing and all that I could never ever tell because like he's always very very friendly to be but then I maybe I'm just inside my head. I I just wanted to say that if you're not you're not listening but I do actually love you i. I don't know that was. That was very soft. I shouldn't have said that okay. Let's let's rattle o'clock Jay Bilas but okay so XS and Os came into this game Are we topping. Was it for Dayton. We already know that he he in my automation. He should be the national player. You're right now and I don't think that's reactionary. I think like the numbers. He's putting up her absolutely insane. He is skill. Set is unbelievable. I don't I don't know where he projects Serbia draft. But I have a feeling that where he projected before Maui where he's going to actually adopt on the night of draft night is going to be vastly different So he come into this game. He's a mismatch this match nightmare he can. He can do anything out there right. And then on the flip side It's as a bouquet for Kansas is first of all house. Bill could guard top because stopping can stretch amount making. Pull them away from the pain. But the house top bouquet because as a book as massive and can dunk on day and That was fascinating. Matchup played played out. That way is like that was basically the entire the entire game was that was basically centered around UK. Dayton had no nobody could guard him and they also had nobody that he could guard. Yeah he was just kind of like floating around out there like trying to figure out came chess match at some level because at the start of the game as bouquet rate I mean top and his fronting him in the post. Awesome and Devan Dawson was doing a great job in body and Marcus get all the entry passes that they were making there were thrown over the top and then as bouquet was basically getting position and then getting dunked thousand Suk's when he dunks by the way I see his face like sitting courtside. You see doc and you just got like a straight face. It's like another dunker man. Yeah those are pretty fun as it. Aside warns deal. He had the big alleyoop in overtime that we remember that. That was the one I was like. Oh Kansas is probably gonNA run away with this even the night before thousands Ellsworth some. That was the most I've ever seen from Azabu that was against. Byu obviously Just looking at the start of the game top in getting worn out by that front line and that was something that we you're kind of pointing out before because yes topping is a great five is a stretch five and Mike Tomlin those two guys like Kinda can stretch the four on the other end but those kind of stuck to the game implant. It's funny because the night before they asked. Did you think about the lineup of McCormack in and you can put out there that can step out and shoot threes and exactly so so they were kind of living in that same world and it was a struggle of will in the sense that it was the old version of what everyone expects basketball to be. Where where it's inside out versus is the Dayton we've seen in the past five years or not really? We've seen the past five years but we've talked about in the past five years. Everyone wants to point out positions basketball especially Tom. Green and Dan was a battle of will at some point in top. It has got worn out because the bodies were being with them as a good job of just kind of like not getting in foul trouble being you know what I kind of stay down and centered but I know he made early Utah. You know what you mean like fell trouble. He he wasn't it was overtime folks Big Men are going to foul out but like yeah. It didn't really feel like foul trouble like he was never sitting on the bench for like nine minutes at a time. You know it was. It was one of those things where it completely affected to the game as we talked about afterwards even Divan Dodson I would say is by far the most important player best player on Kansas. Probably in this game today it was as a bouquet that really set the tone yeah even with Dotson was scoring story and and Dotson had an insane game. And I don't mean to downplay what he did was he played. Every second of the game was very clearly like the engine that drew vows house. Yeah on Dayton. He's out saying he was very very good. But from a from a strategy standpoint the Game Kansas the Kansas entire game plants in around Buca in he was the the guy and in that regard It it it just made for a fascinating thing and and and I think like I said this video that we shot the right after the game was over. I stuff like this is what makes me college. Basketball's wells because Dayton had a very different approach than Kansas. Did neither coach gave in A Dayton played what's Shamanga. That's the kid I was thinking. Eighty grand puts him in for a little bit. He played a little like all right. We gotTA figure out a way to slow down Osberg Anti and she manga cinderblocks Fida from being honest compared to athletes of Kansas has just couldn't move well enough to play a little turn around bucket. Tuck it that was it. Yeah he's not he's not a bad player he's just like you know he's just a big you know. I think it was more of a mental thing to show Kansas. They could match the big man you know. But we'll sesame does he. He puts him EH EH. But then you realize that kind of limits. Dayton's offense in Dayton was doing when he's in the game suddenly you're taking away. What makes Dayton great which is that you can spread the floor of everybody so he was like whoops my bad pulsa manga out and then from there it was like neither coach gave in there? Like we're sticking our game plan. This is what we're going to do This is going to win the Game Anthony Grants. We're GONNA hit twenty. Three's and we'RE GONNA win this game. A bill sells like we are going to get twenty dogs from Abu. We're GONNA win this game now. The one of them back down and unfortunately I don't think either one of them should have. That's what made it a great game. It was like they were all. Everybody was playing well doing exactly what they wanted to do. And somebody had to lose. Unfortunately they kept being body-blows. Ab Watson Guy came off the bench. She was shoot really well from three. I think he was four eight at one point. I asked you and I was like yeah. I felt like he's four. Four everytime takes shots going in from three and Crutcher is obviously having having a great game and he ends up taking the big shot at the ties at three and we go to overtime and as you have every single moment in that game as as the momentum. Golden Goethe's like swinging back and forth. I kept saying to myself. Oh this will be the run that Dayton will make the windows Gamer. This'll be the you kind of playing the game and then I just got laws and I forgot that. It's always the same race in the race. It's a sixty sixty nine and they won the game and it makes sense so I saw it happening in my head. I was like what and I look at the fact that was right in front of everyone. It's kind of like where we are with that whole situation is we got one of the best games of the season. If not the best game in Maui Perfect College basketball it is absolutely. It's all the things with again all the things that we make fun of people for like we're falling victim to because you make fun of like people that come to Maui and they watch the. JV managing man they make uh-huh this was the greatest everything. Whatever you know you roll your eyes like listen? It was good like Notre Dame won in two thousand seventeen congratulations. It's good like keeping your pants. My God they're not the fifth best team in the country. Calm relaxed everybody. Come down in fifth percents. I'm here I see how that happened. Episode data's really really good. We've got to keep an eye on the Dayton add Davidson game and they might not be a top team but we'll keep an eye on. That is funny though. Because so you're totally right in the sense that like I think Dayton made Kansas looked to me like a legitimate contender or play like they made the play to their potential. There is something about that the like Kansas is this was pushed to a level by date. I don't know the the whole thing was just so great. Man It was it was just a really really good championship game in as big as As the big boy I almost called it. The Best Bill Self said in the Post Game Press. That was a big boy game And and and guys were stepping up and it. It was the best players on the team that are stepping up and it was really cool. So how do we feel like moving forward than like about Kansas because Kansas loss to do and a lot of people are tuning into this podcast. Hot Gas wanting to hear US talk about Duke relaxed. We're going to don't you worry we're going to get to that in a second Kansas Kansas opens the season losing to do they had. I think. Think forty-one turnovers in that game. I don't know the double check of sixty nine. They they turned it over like crazy. Duke as we know is is now. This is not the number one team the country so where where does that leave Kansas in your mind after you. You know knowing what they did against do it knowing that they they just want Maui invitational. Is there someone between you still a believer in Kansas. I'm a believer in what we talked about in the original episode. One of the tape. podcast which is the champions. CLASSIC CLASSIC IS NULL and void. The champions not matter the champions classic is a waste of your time. This is a great point. And when you watch that Kansas game versus what you saw today against Dayton that there's other that will extrapolate that point to the Max because what what dots was against Trade Jones. He got lost in the one on one game with trae Johm Mhm Entry Jones defender and he kind of just stayed steady. And now you look at Dotson ended it. Looks like he's unflappable. And it's what you know. Twenty days or whatever's in that first game and it's funny because I think the season actually starts in my mind now so about point. The season starts when we start podcast and so right now I would say Kansas as the number one the country I think they have every right to be the number one country. I don't care if they've lost a do. We just saw them. beat a team like we said Dayton as a top five team potentially so they did that neutral-site insight they'd be. Byu I think Byu's a really good it was very very good They're Byu is going to make the tournament and very obviously they didn't have their best player. I was really really impressed by by UTAH. They're fun to watch There is obviously limited. A not not to be stereotypical here but they're just team full of white guys that swallow alive by Kansas length and athleticism only because like Kansas.
