I think that's my retirement job right. They're sign me up. Yeah i wanna talk about resorts for a minute What are some good family. Friendly places that you would recommend. I think the thing is on both sides here. I have to be careful on this. Because we represent all the resorts in in how i absolutely and we only have one adults only resort in in that hotel lap. So in the other a the others are pretty much welcoming some your larger ones. You have the the western western maui And we have The white layer beach while a beach resort. Which is a a marriott. And then you have the highest. These all have incredible slides for the kids. And you know and you just put a kid on slide can go. Go go go shopping. Yeah go play you and you'll come back and building. You know you It's a fabulous if you met my aunt myself but into thing is is that you know. It's great entertainment for them. And you still go. So most of the resorts are a family friendly. Would you also want to look at is when you're looking at two resorts look at the activities. They offer on on resort led to Kind polly beach. Hotel is one of my favorites in independent hotel. They just completed a beautiful renovation but one of the things they do is they have The almost all the activities. They have has to do with hawaiian culture. And it's not just is not. We're going to jaw how to play the ukulele. Not that you know. They're actually well thought out. And you learn how to weave a hat in stuff like this or basket or something like that and these are things that you could take with you if you want to. But it's all the more important it's all about the experience you know and a in there and so in there actually called one of the The most most hawaiian of all the hotels The other independent one. That we had that. I i need. I need to mentioned as the royal haina. Royal highness also has these fabulous of activities for the kids for the family To to all partake to participate in and and the ones that this is the memory that you create. This is what you take home awesome. Well it wouldn't be a family vacation episode if we didn't talk about food you've already ringing our bill a little bit with the banana bread and the coconut ice cream and stuff. But can you recommend some places that that families just shouldn't miss like from the conic restaurants all the way down to the out of the way places. Well i'm certainly going to be the first one. I'm actually going to bring up in a nice I can look at you guys. And i can see that. You're you're rockin rollers of And this is restaurant has absolutely nothing to do with. "It's coin to be the best banana bread you've ever had in your life. Adult eat the bottom. They burn it every time. This is good at this. This is an amazing thing. You're gonna stop at a place called glenn's coconut ice cream. No idea what flavors they are for thrall coconut ice cream and he changes his flavors however he wakes up that these are the kind of things that you're gonna run into and that's why this is this trip of sixty miles. It's going to take you three hours. You know because we're going do you're gonna enjoy. It's not so much about the destination it's getting known german. Do you can't beat that local stuff like that. Like banana bread. You can't beat local screams awesome. That's good stuff. Yeah just get out it. Just you know it's one thing to to to witness at all but it's it's another thing is to get out of the car and experience it you know it. Yeah put your phone amazing. You know you'll find you know it's funny but Maui is also known for our hospitality and Of all the islands grieve regret the strongest numbers in that. But it because our people they they want to know about you right. They want down. There is a restaurant in There's a thai restaurant in Hana that you're sit down you're beating and the person who cooked your dinner is probably going to come out and sit with you at some point and just to find out how you doing. You're going to feel like you're eating in somebody's garage and you're pretty much all but it's not about that. It's about the hospitality. It's about place it's a it's it's about the sense of being and it's about experience awesome. A love grow in research and doing research for the show. I kind of went down a rabbit hole here about whale. Watching i was reading. Carino this fascinating stuff about well watching so he talked a little bit about what that experience is like. I know during the wintertime Is when you wanna it in that correct when you want. It's the wintertime where you want to get the best. Viewing yep yeah. We have no whales here now. They get here. They start coming in right around thanksgiving. Maybe a little earlier than was thanksgiving week in november third of the strongest. there here is the most are here. "It's got a natural sweetness and such but don't eat the store-bought once those those are the ones that they make they make right there in front of you. That are amazing. Yeah so let's talk a little bit about the districts in maui can talk a little bit about each of those. You're sure there's actually five districts in maui But the the main focus for visitors are going to be either the west side which is a color. will pop up now. Not cholera papa. Sir sorry about that Lohyna in that area or the south side. Which is why laying quixote. And you know in the people always ask. They'll say what's the difference. If you know between these two districts and the funny thing is is if you ask somebody from the south side the say it always rains in on the west side and then if somebody on the west side they'll say it always rains on so so you've got your you're going back and forth in a circle and the thing that's funny is that it rains all over. Yeah right. we're an island in the middle of the ocean. We need rain but however but the funny thing is when it does rain. It's at the most times it lasts ten minutes and people don't even get off the beach you know. The difference is between the two sides. The west side is where we got into the business and we got into the business fifty or sixty years ago. Okay the the side we got into that about twenty five years ago so it's not maybe a longer but it it's so is one is just not as old as established as the other. That's it you know. I still think you know. I still think they're great experiences. You had the town of the high. No which is absolutely a lot of fun you can go into this town. You hitters art galleries. There's there's a restaurants there's clubs and tried on the water..

Pacific college rainy. Thanks for joining us and welcome to the show. Thank you for having me. Thanks for being here randy. So on our overview show of hawaii we talked about how each of the islands has its own personality. So how would you characterize the personality of maui. Well we actually have done a little bit of work about this and have come up with a series of phrases that kind of described Each one of the islands and for maui. The first one that came to in these redone through focus groups. The first one came in was it's laid back. It's leisurely it's friendly. It's not considered contrived it's about discovery and it's about small towns meeting natural wonders. If you're a family you're planning your first trip to maui. What are some of the must see places that you would recommend families put on their. I tin okay. That's actually that's actually a fun. A fun question. Because a very i think i think the very first thing you have to do is you have to understand that Molly has my way as full of great beaches and we have beaches of almost every different color. We have white sand beaches. We have we. We have green beaches. We have black sand. we have black and white sand. We have read sand beaches. Yeah wow yeah. So i mean if you if you here for five days you go to a different color beach every day and that's certainly one of the biggest things for more than most most families and of course you know that leads right into some of the ocean things that they can. Do you know sunset scale sales snorkel trips and and those are fun for for all the ages. You know a thing or you. Can you can go up in the in the air. Take a helicopter ride and see the whole island. I think what you're going to be very surprised with is when you when you talk about maui and you have this vision of an island in your hand but you don't realize how big that island is. We're we're seven hundred twenty nine square miles which is which is quite large. And so you get up there. You can see you can see that..

"James before we jump into the meter things. Would you give our listeners. A little introduction to yourself perhaps sort of tell them how you got started in the industry. Yes so i'm self taught developer. I never went to school for this. I'm one of those. Those weird guys who just went down the path than he's to play video games at work and got really bored. I was running doing. It stuff because everything's running find. You can just goof off little bored of that. And so i started doing programming. Going sequel and things like that right reports and then just got into software development from there and eventually got into the mobile apps on the iphone came out. Got really excited and got really into sharpens cameron which was zaman back down but eventually became amarin and just kinda jumped on that ship cool and so what. What do you do these days. What how was the path that brings you there so now a pm architect which is a fancy weird title. I'm not even sure what it means. But at microsoft is the pm track. And there's the engineering track and i'm an engineer on the pm side. So it's it's kind of weird. So i get to work One thing about it those. I work with lots different teams and i work around and i'm not just set in one small environment which is kind of fun. I like that. I like to bounce around a lot. But because of that. I get to do lots of experiments in lots of prototypes. So if there's something that we think on the pm side that hey we should try. This hour shows to customers and see what happens. Am i get to build a lot of that stuff and then like just help with that at dev loop and were closely with engineering as well and help them architect things come through your just get three different patterns and figure out right way run different products

"It's kind of a hint to the evil conferences that was examined thing before it was acquired by microsoft. It will evolve into dot net maui which Firstly shows i think the commitment of microsoft because that always has been and concern to like is examined forms of microsoft is building apps and other techniques. How what's up with that So i think this. This show's commit been from microsoft into this framework by putting it into dot net six. It's not going anywhere so the first thing that's to me is basically a well. Let's just say they copy paste of course not exactly that but they copy paste the whole examining forms codebase into dominant maui. And of course they have years and years of learnings with the good things and also the bad thing so they're obviously going to get rid of the bad things. Keep all the good things that make them even better so architecture wise. There's definitely something go to change. There will be a couple of breaking changes but they're also creating all kinds of ships that should make the transition from your examined forms app to a dominant maui app as simple as possible. There will also be. I think a try convert tool Yeah exactly so they will try as the name says tried to convert troops salmon forums application I'm going to be honest. There's probably going to be worked for you to do absolutely. Especially if you have like custom renders and this already assuming that you know a little bit about how examining semmering force works informs app. I'm sorry if amer informs app in the app store now is it one day. Just gonna stop working absolutely not no if you have a binary that works than that's fine. You are go draft worry about that whenever a new version. So that's probably between ride in september or android version. But i think they're a little bit more backwards compatible typically then. How long will the salmon forms stack remain in you know in visual studio so that i can keep Managing that Or at some point. You're going to force me to upgrade to maui. So that's my question. Yes okay i understand. So the the official communication is. I'm sure in the shows you've talked about The new release cycle of dot net six. So donald maui. G. is planned for dot net six which is november twenty twenty one Examined forms five is going to be supported a year after death to november twenty twenty two Which means service releases that kind of stuff and whenever area i west comes with a new version new. Api's dare go to fix that so you can still alter here. Yes so but after a year you are kind of like forced or at least you know. There's no support so whenever it keeps working on a version of great But don't expect any support beyond that but yet to your point at some point. Apple's going freight guests because apple break routine yet. They broke you. Yeah you hit the real issue which is sooner or later. Apple's going to break it and after two thousand twenty two. You're not gonna fix it. Yeah that's that's kind of that you get but it's going to be at its open source open source. You feel like it. You can compile it fifty six yourself so but here's another question. What if i have third party controls or community controls in my in my salmon forms app will the try convert tool also update those orwell well those vendors or community contributors have to do their own conversions for their For their cameron forms tools. So in. Turn them into maui tools. How's that can work good question. Good question. So a to maybe. It's important at this point to say that i still love examined. I've been at examined forums team for a little while. It's not my day job anymore. So i'm trying.

The shop passed on a new york times article about looking for climate solutions and this article was written by catrine einhorn. Essentially she reported that ocean bottom trawling for shrimp whiting. Cod and other fish emits as much carbon dioxide into the air as the entire globalization industry. Now this was based on a study published in the journal. Nature and it was pretty enlightening. About how trawling releases. Immense amounts of carbon from the ocean floor and that leads to more acidification of the water and that reduces the oceans capacity to absorb atmospheric carbon dioxide. You can check out the entire article on the new york times website look for climate solutions by katrina einhorn. There's another piece of good news. Out of molly s this month. The honolulu star advertiser reported that a trained response team was able to free young. Humpback whale from gear entangling. It's left pictorial flipper. They were able to free about fifty to one hundred feet of line from the flipper but not we're able to get the Entangled line out of its mouth. They are hoping that that will ultimately free itself. They haven't seen the whale since it was freed. Apparently it wasn't in great shape but at least now it has a chance. They recovered gears being analyzed to see if they can determine the origin now. The efforts were led by the hawaiian humpback whale national marine sanctuary in partnership with cardinal point captains k key koala project and ultimate whale-watch. Now i've had the opportunity to go out with ultimate whale-watch from lana. A couple of times was very happy to hear of their support. We carry a lot of aqualung equipment in our shop and like most businesses twenty twenty taught many of us a lot of lessons. Well i recently sent out a message that they are introducing. A new aqualung is a bit of a rebranding. They're using a new tagline beyond the expected in the message. They said the twenty twenty taught them to expect the unexpected time to seek out the unexpected. If you check out the aqua lung website they further state that they are for the ocean exploration for ocean understanding and for ocean conservation. The aqua lung site also has a really inspiring short two minute video to get you inspired. Stay tuned for more from akwa. Long as they go beyond the expected earlier in the week. Management rehabbed and Tackled a bit of maintenance that i had been deferring guests on this show. And i've been differing on a couple of my properties and took care that this year. And so i was able to reset them. Do a big refinance take a lot of cash out nine back into acquisition mode looking for that next deal. Awesome guys well speaking of next deal. It's been a crazy last year. Obviously with the real estate market covid doing some crazy things and things that i don't think any of us really necessarily expected i shouldn't i. Was you know worry that we're going to see a crash or something happened and all of a sudden instead it's just like somebody shot him on steroids into the real estate market the last six months. Why do you think real estate has gotten so competitive. And i don't even call hot as the best word i can use for it. Real real. The real markets gotten hot almost everywhere in the country. Why is that. And then i'll ask. Where do you think it's headed but let's start with that one mindy. Why do you think it's gotten so crazy lately. I think there are a bunch of actors of course cove it. I think a lot of people who were considering selling but maybe didn't have to sell has decided that i'm not gonna have random people traipsing through my house bringing their covid into my house and then i catch it and maybe die so i think there's a shortage of sales just based on the market are the pandemic itself. I think there are ridiculously low. Interest rate why. No they're low interest rates that are fueling people. Ooh i can upgrade to a better house and we didn't have anybody building houses from two thousand eight to two thousand and twelve thirteen fourteen. I mean in my area. They're just starting to do these massive builds again and it takes time and there's people that are still moving here but there's nothing to buy so prices just keep going up. I just sold a house on friday for more money than i thought was ever possible here in the story over and over. Scott what do you think. Yeah i would agree. I think the the first biggest lever is going to be interest rates. The payment matters more than the price to most homebuyers and frankly most landlords like all that fifty percent rule your expenses are not magically changing. You know in those two in those types of things based on interest rates so if your interest rate if your your payment goes down you can afford to buy. You can pay more for the same property and get achieve the same or greater cash flow so i think that interest rates are the number one biggest lever and then the second one is going to be the stimulus and just the in injection of cash and liquid into the economy. In general. I think that last year a lot of people weren't spending as much money as they nip term typically what at least those who would be potential competitors of yours when buying homes and rental properties and so people are now in a position to buy with liquidity and low interest rates. I think fundamentally the that's what's driving it. And then i also think diminish point the other factors are all many of them are also fueling this. There's been an exodus from apartments to single family homes red single-family rents have gone up apartment. Rents have fallen over the last year. Single family housing prices have exploded by more. I think it was like single family. Rents went up by three four percent and prices went up eight nine percent over the year. I think that's that's showing a fuel in demand from apartments to single family homes as rentals but an even greater preference to buy. I think fueled by that interest rate shift so other things. Lack of housing starts continued population. Growth and then Inflation in expectation of inflation. In general are all you know fuelling real estate right now. Who knows how long that will continue but hasn't been a bad year for those who held real estate going into twenty twenty.

"Edward kalani maxwell one and his brother gregory ca kina maxwell. One are part of the hawaiian band. Naveh the four piece band is made up of two sets of brothers. Nava asia's now. Grammy nominated album. Lovely sunrise was inspired by the music of billions alvez and his paradise. Sarah nader's i've reached out to edward and gregory at their home. And why lukoil maui. Welcome to the show. Thank you very much is our honor. So did you grow up playing music together. We are all surrounded by hawaiian culture wind music or we were even brought into the world. You consider ios bound to happy oil inevitable for us to either become hula dancers so to say now musicians and how were you around music before you were even brought into the world. Our grandmother and our mother were are the are practitioners are grandparents is wealth. They've been in the lion. Culture and hawaiian seen four before we even brought into this world. And what about you edward. What are your first or earliest memories of music. So yeah before we were bored of. My mother was a hula student for my to my grandmother for her hull flooding hula. Holly and my grandfather. He was actually a line coach specialists at also called who the hawaiian priest and he used to do. Many things he also. I guess what you could call if you were poorly Activists are so. He did many things for the hawaiian community. And so yeah. We definitely grew up around the hawaiian music and where it stems from the culture in our family being very active before we were and did the two of you play music together when you were little. Yes we actually laid with the help. All our grandfather. Charles coody saw as soon as we were able to take a gorilla being around blind culture and my grandmother have hula. Were will class or group. We would always go off on stage at like we were performing with them and end gregory. You're one half of the band nova and your other two bandmates. They're also brothers. And you're all from maui. So did you. Did you grow up knowing each other and seen each other the first occurrence or where we first met each other was passing. My grandfather at his funeral and their family came over to our art grandfather's house and we met them there. We didn't know much of all we knew. Disorder played music. They doubt salon suffolk dot but that was our first meet up them and most crazy to find out when we made three or so years ago was a their mom had done to love with alongside with my mom under i went to to are my grandmother docking day before we were even board. That almost feels like a very serendipitous family connection. How did you find that out our mother. She collected thoughts when she found out that we were deciding to make this battle or or join become about and so she gave us the history of how their families actually closer than we thought it was really meant to be for us to cross paths and form this type of bond with two sets of brothers in our make the group not bite ya and we always talk about how it was kind of almost destined to be back in the day before we have a board. And it's crazy how we can say. We were given that gift to be able to sing an all the whole year speaking hawaiian language to. That's pretty amazing. So you're both in your twenties and and so are other bandmates. You're all in your twenties but your latest album is inspired by hawaiian music from the nineteen sixties. How did you get interested in playing this kind of music. Being surrounded by point culture add aligned language. We kind of have some old souls to us. What we we all up to another idol or i would say a mentor in hawaii uncle. Samuel colonia cole. And he was asked to be part of the paradise serenaders and that was the whole reason why we did this project. A quick little travel back to the beginning of started was approached by a guy named zachary love. He is from all. He's an awesome musician. He approached with this idea to begin this project because of saab is going through dementia and we wanted to capture their style of music theirselves before it was too late. And so we're we're fortunate. We're blessed enough to learn from him before he forgot and we wanted to take their style. Also make it our own but also not let that stuff die

"I listen to several podcasts. Every week and it is especially a thrill. When i can bring onto host of one of the podcasts that i listen to on a regular basis because i feel like i know this person already but we've never had a conversation in this case. It's actor bradley. She he's the associate professor of religion at skidmore college. Which i look where that was bred as like you must be snowed in spirit man. I'm here in southern california for california boy whose deaths from maui. This is not my native environment so well a little bit of your background. You actually went to zoos. The pacific university. Which is right down the road from where i live where you got your be in philosophy and always wonder you know when a undergraduate majors flossy where they planning to end up. You ended up getting a master's in philosophical theology at oxford. And then you did. Some time in france doing postgraduate work in philosophy. And then finally you finish up at the university of california. Santa barbara doing your piece de and religious studies. I just want. It's tell my listeners. If you ever enjoy some of the conversations i get into on this podcast. With my guest that crosses over into this post evangelical political sort of realm. The person feeding me. Most of my information is now my guest on the show. That's kind now thank you. That's flattering thank you can. Let's start with your story. Because i think what set you up. Not just as an academic to have such a substantive take on what's been going on during the trump years before trump years where we're going to go after the trump years is also not just rooted in your research but it's it's based in your own life so tell us a little bit about that. Yeah i let me just say thank you for that flattering introduction and just. It's it's an honor to be here. So i've been looking forward to this for a long time and i'm really grateful so you know for me i. I grew up in north orange county. My father's japanese-american my mother's white woman from tennessee. And they met in the middle He's from hawaii and we grew up. Your belinda placentia fullerton area. I did not grow up religious. My dad was was culturally. Buddhist is what i would say he. He mowed the lawn. At the buddhist temple on maui in inkatha louis he. He went to japanese school there. But when i was thirteen and ask them about what it meant to be a buddhist to give me a book and i read it and i thought after i read it he would discuss it and i realized later. He gave it to me because he didn't know anything that was in it. He just didn't want to have me ask questions about what it meant to be a buddhist at fourteen. I had a very extreme conversion at a evangelical mega church and a conversion meant that i went from the kid who was hanging out with other teenagers behind the movie theater. Smoking and drinking and doing that kind of stuff to within months standing in front of the movie theater asking people if they knew my savior the lord. Jesus christ and if they knew where their so would be return ity. Tell us a little bit about how that dramatic conversion took place. I was invited to wednesday night. Bible study at rose drive friends church. rose drive is part of that network of quaker churches that richard nixon grew up in so i i was invited to that church by a girlfriend and i thought you know i'm fourteen. There's not a lot of ways to see your girlfriend on a with night off to pragmatist and there's no way mom can say no to this. If i want to go to church she's gonna say yes. So let's do it. This is a great plan She dumped me very quickly but that youth group became my second home. I found there what you would find in the ninety s at youth groups all over the place. Young cool hip leaders. They had tattoos. They played the guitar. We have a lot of fun games. The bible messages weren't boring and all of a sudden the existential angst. I had about the meaning of life and the depression that i faced throughout my entire childhood. I found answers found solutions to my condition. In jesus in god and so a very quickly i went from a kid probably hanging around folks who are going down the wrong direction drugs and alcohol and other stuff too when my mom asked me what i wanted for christmas on my When i was sixteen. I asked her how much she was gonna spend. She told me i said mom. I want you to give me that money. And i'm going to buy as many pamphlets and tracts and bibles as i can for people in nepal and i'm going to send them there because that's what's important and that's why how we should be using our money. Now i gotta ask you bread. Did your parents on the one hand. I'm sure they're going well. This is nice. He's not hanging around with those bad people anymore. The water bozos right. Okay right these these these yoga right but but at the same time is dislike. Did our son just joined a cult. So it's exactly what you said. For mom. there was times. I think she was relieved. But you know when your son is saying. Hey i don't buy me letterman's jacket for the basketball team. Send the money to nepal for bibles. I think she kinda wish. I was back to the guy getting caught with the kid. Smoking pot again. I mean she was kind of like. This is a little extreme. It was a lot harder for my dad. My dad's japanese-american guy. He grew up in the cradle of asian american. You know Communities on maui. His life was in the buddhist temple even though he he really didn't wasn't a practicing buddhist so for me to join a mega church especially church. That was ninety percent. White was really hard for him and it took a lot of convincing to let me go to the wednesday night. Bible study or the retreat or the youth group party or whatever.

Will 2021 Deliver the NCAA Basketball Match-Ups We Missed in 2020?

"Haven't really seen a ton of showcase matchups yet where we've gotten great prospect against prospect or when we have it's been situations like duke michigan state where both of those teams look like. They're kind of a mess right now. If we're going to be honest about it We've gotten a lot of showcase games with kentucky and kentucky is kind of a mess right now so it's hard to evaluate a lot of these players within the construct of where they are right now. So i'm excited to jump back in here starting on january fourth. I think it is as my first day back new january third and like just see what what's out there like what i can even find because it just feels like there hasn't been a lot of even really great evaluation settings since you know tournaments like maui and These little showcase games that happened throughout the course of the season. The schedule things. Because when you talk to college coaches so many of 'em treat it like an art form under normal circumstances and who can we play and where and what the. Rpi what will this now. It's it's become to steal the term. That's overused now speed dating. You can play the state good. We're doing whatever teams you. I'm casey played two games on the same day against the same team. Like teams picking up stuff to play an a. m. a. guys like kind of on the fly. So you're gonna conference planner. You're still now. You're seeing a little bit and stuff come out today. There's a couple programs coming back for the holidays. That are now shutting down for a week or two because of covid which adds to kind of what you're saying there hasn't been these elite match and it seems like a game going to happen and it gets postponed. I'm already looking ahead a little bit too far to saturday. You have texas kansas. You have our records. Even though ron harper junior may be hurt lsu florida so like the games are coming. I think they'll come more so in conference play. But every time you have something circled on your calendar like the big evaluation game there's a wrench thrown into

Interview With Seth Moody

"Hello everybody welcome to another episode of when i'm hi this is the podcast. That's all about You know what it's like to be high and you know we get into some other topics as well sometimes so if you listen to the last couple of episodes you heard becca dystech. She is the nymph of nymph and woodsmen a company out in oregon and we are very happy to have the woodsmen part of that. We've got seth moody here Seth say hello. Tell us a little bit more about you and you know any anything else that the people need to know thanks for inviting me to your podcast spencer. Yeah i'm the woodsmen of nippon. Woodsmen and becca. And i live on a beautiful farm in southern oregon in the middle the system mountains. And it's fall and it's beautiful just snowed and we finally got some rain and it feels really good right now. So that's awesome. I'm very jealous about the area that you live in. That sounds absolutely gorgeous. I hope to possibly even live out in an area like that. Someday my wife. And i both would love to do that as our A retire retiring area. I don't know what i'm trying to say. But you get the picture. So so you're here to talk about cannabis what it feels like to be high. And obviously you have a very special relationship with Cannabis specifically the cd side of things Can you give us give us some history. While i'm when was the first time you tried cannabis You know wha what's what's your history like there. Yeah that's a good one. My history pretty extensive. I started smoking cannabis when i was sixteen and and on probably while until now i smoke pretty consistently now But through my twenties it was off my late teens. it was off. I was in the army. So i didn't. I didn't smoke at all. Actually when i got out and smoke for a while. But then i moved to alaska. And i got in with bluegrass crowd and started doing joy relaxing music and art and creativity. And so i really started to smoke a little bit more than but it was mixed with alcohol and so it was always strange A lot of times it was strange for me then. So i quit then after moving to hawaii Oddly enough living in hawaii i didn't smoke at all was too expensive. It was too difficult to get and it just actually wasn't conducive to the to. The work i was doing i was i was diving. I was underwater a lot. And i honestly didn't feel like i needed to be high. I was so much going on in my environment So it was really nice but then you know fast forward to now and fifty one. I've had medical conditions now. Chronic medical conditions that only cannabis actually works for me and allows me to function. The pharmaceutical solutions arm suitable treatments. They create actually more confusion in issues than thc cannabis use see quite heavily us around three hundred milligrams a day. Cbd right around there. I use a lousy and it feels good and it works. Good for me. That's my history in a nutshell. Yeah that's awesome. I feel like. I have so many things to respond to. And of course the as i described to you at the beginning of this and then you know. The listeners may not fully understand the logistics of doing these remote interviews are difficult and so i tried to not interrupt my guests because it just makes the communication really difficult when we have like a one to two second delay. So i i you know you've you you're living in oregon. You lived in alaska. You lived in hawaii. These are these amazing places. And i love that you said that in in hawaii you didn't even really feel like you needed it I was lucky enough to be in hawaii for a short amount of time. It was like two weeks back in the early two thousands. But i mean i. I know exactly what you're saying it. It's this absolutely gorgeous place. And i mean i can't even imagine what it would what it was like to be diving there and and doing all that fun stuff and i think. Hawaii is pretty known for cannabis isn't it. Oh definitely definitely. But i was. On and kuwaiti is a notorious family island. It's it's oriented for families and as far as tourism goes Maui famous for cannabis and big island is more famous for cannabis and even a walking Quite has some but it's so small that it's really More treats for locals that are shared. And when i got there but after the first six months and i was there for five years. I didn't really smoke anymore at all. I didn't actually yeah. It was just so beautiful relaxing.

Why does TK Bay hate the iPhone 12 Pro?

"I was actually talking to Hymie last week when we were together working on the iphones and told him you know. To our listeners who might be wondering, why is this episode coming out later? What happened to High Mesa you is going to be on guys. This is like this is a perfect example of just how crazy life has been. And how little control we have over our own even mental right now. I was with high may for an entire day on Friday after we got our iphones and we just were not able to make the time to record the one, our podcast as down as high may always is there's just so much going on and some keen viewers might even notice. I haven't been able to do much content on the youtube site for pocket now ether because this this way if get burned out on one channel. Then, it's hard for me break. It's hard for me to work on both. It's multiple channels. Can I feel like sometimes we we can reach that limit faster. because it, it multiplies the effect and right? Yeah. If you hit if you hit a certain challenge a few feel stress on one side and not necessarily stress in that sense. But like you know there's work and it needs to be done and you're doing it and and at the end of the day, your your body kind of gets into that while I created something I did something already we we achieved the goal you know can we rest now kind of like it wants to go internet downward and you need to keep pushing through it it's hard. It's hard Gab. I had my own challenges today in like I said I produced sometimes for three channels and I produced for one and I'm I'm still at some point going to have to sit down and edit two more videos so yeah Yeah. I. What I was telling high may was because since high may has been in his transition from being in South America to being back in New York. And he and I were able to get together. To like get the iphone stuff done. I told them I need to buy T A. So many meals. For, being such a reliable guests for the podcast, and this is yet another example like. Fun and I, and I appreciate you thinking of us An and yet nick nick and I are are very grateful to get to hang out and we we don't. We don't do enough of that. If anything else that's a good way for us to hand it's virtual, but we got to talk. Yeah, indeed. So it's the end of the work day on a Monday So this is this'll be a good way for you to decompress I get to get the podcast on I'm going to do I'm going to probably release the audio at like midnight tonight just so it's just gets out there but anybody who's listening right now this is the struggle that we have and it's You know it's not that any of this stuff is like particularly hard. It's just what the current circumstances it's hard to get into a certain rhythm. When obviously we're what eight months into a worldwide quarantine and it's just taken such a toll that we don't really realize until until it finally presents itself in some sort of manifested way So that's what this past weekend was. Not only what the iphone coming out, but also with today like trying to get stuff going it's been. You know it's it's it's a crazy time as usual and it's a cliche to say with every show. But yeah, that's where we are now I I definitely need a vacation but I don't I can't go anywhere. So my vacation would still be here. So yeah. Yeah. Sometimes, I wonder if the station would be worth it like if I stayed at a hotel like in a nearby city. You know what I am that that that idea alone is becoming very, very appealing. Very much just to be the slightly changed the 'cause we're used to traveling this is the other problem, not a problem but like at least as part of the part of the things that we do at least for the last few years or so for me, I've enjoyed every few months within a month or so abby somewhere. So. You know it's it's hard like last year we had San Diego we had Maui. We had other things going on we. I was in in Germany last year for the thirty pro launch event does a whole bunch of things going on.

"Thank you for listening. I am your host Robert over. I hope that you and your dog are well. This week might episode 25 and we'll be talking to Sarah Dixon about Siberian Husky Maui, but first in Toronto a townhouse condominium development in our own. Is pet friendly but it's compulsory that your dog has a DNA test and this is to ensure that your dog does not leave any surprises in areas where they shouldn't. And I have heard several other places doing that. So it looks like that might becoming a thing. The most popular answer to I can't believe my dog ate or August was not wow, and she fished out the dead baby possum out of a bucket full of water. So this month or sorry Monday the September entries for I can't believe my dog ate Archer and the plastic light fitting bogus and the Lucerne pellets foil balls and the plastic Satchel of the tray of chicken Aiko who only ate his dog food. He was a good boy and Eddie wage to eight rabbit who if you want to jump onto the so if you want to vote for any of those jump onto the Facebook group, Now feel a little awkward talking about this and it has taken me a couple of takes but I have purchased a nice piece of equipment to help me record a little bit better a road cast of pro and and it doesn't quite know what I did spend on it, but it is nice so I have thought up a page. On a platform called Kofi KO iPhone f i a relaxed dog if there is anyone that feels that way I want to contribute something monetary think unlike a lot of other sites. I can't really give any sort of bonus material or learning my aerial. So I just sort of put that out there and if someone does you you do and I'll be extremely grateful, but if you don't well, I'll just carry on like normal. So that site again is Kofi and then look for / the relaxed dog. Anyway, here's this week's interview. Welcome to the relaxed dog. I'm here with Sarah and we're going to be talking about Maui. So as per usual, could you take us back in time a little bit before Maui and lead us into the events on how you guys got together? Yeah, so she was my first real personal dog after I sort of moved away from you know, my parents home and was on my own. Oh, there goes the dog and I had been kind of doing a lot of volunteer work with a trainer and sort of learning a lot about training and kind of starting some behavior modification was dogs. I was Apprentice seeing under someone who ended up not being a very good person, but it got me into dog training and got me into being interested in that and when I was able to basically I decided that I should get my own dog, and I had always wanted a Siberian Husky and pretty much right when I bought my house and was getting ready to move in. Yep. Found an ad for one for sale kind of close to me. And that was how I found her nice. And so it's just the the one off so you didn't have any choice of litter anything like that know she was she was 2 and 1/2 years old when she got her the people who had had her bought her as a puppy and they also got a mail and they had planned to breed them. I don't know why they they got Siberian Huskies because they lived on a farm and the story is the mail that they got got killed at six months old when he got ran over by their combine. Oh and then she was wondering as Huskies like to do and they chained her up and then finally decided that they should sell her after basically neglecting her for quite some time off and what sort of environment did she did you have sort of set up so she came from an open area but changed up and your place at the time. I just had you know a regular single-family. It was a detached home that I had purchased with a fenced-in backyard and she adapt to living in the house very very easily that's good. So any initial sort of issues when she sort of came into the house. Yeah, we did have some issues one thing was we had cats and she was actually a bit of a cat killer and her younger days. So we had to train her not to go after the cats actually was pretty good about and the other thing was when we first got her she was quite aggressive towards smaller dogs particularly when they would kind of come up and get in office space sort of under her neck and we worked through that as well. And then just, you know training her to to stay close and not run off was actually fairly easy and off. As soon as she bonded to me, I could actually let her off leash and she was pretty good. But at first, you know, not really knowing that much about dogs and not really knowing that much about the breed. I would let her off leash and she would wander and then I'd have to chase her down. But otherwise she was straight. She was a pretty easy dog to integrate. She was very loving I you know feel like she was probably pretty grateful for lack of a better term to be out of the situation. She was in So it'll take long in the initial stages because I mean when you say particularly take taking off lead a lot of people going to say Huskies, what a recall and migrating. You know, she She had a great temperament and I I don't really attribute it to any particular training that I did because I really didn't know what I was doing. She's the dog who really made me into a decent dog trainer and we could talk about that a little later. She just had she had a temperament. She really bonded to me and she you know, she would do things because she wanted to but she had a pretty good temperament for wanting to stick close like for example, I had a roommate for a while who was lead her in the backyard despite me telling him multiple times not to do that and our friends.

The NCAA decides Nov. 25 will be the start date for college basketball's season

"Twenty fifth is the intended start date for college basketball season and the oversight committees. As I previously reported had suggested that this go to November twenty first and that was the formal recommendation sent to the D. One council last Friday five days ago however. I was told and I want to be clear in how I share this information I talked to Dan Gavitt on the record earlier today and I have a story Cuny that you can read with a lot of stuff about why we're here and what's next and etcetera etcetera. But what about to share with you? I never discussed with Dan Gavin any kind of regard this is just my info gathering and what I think happened here today. So as I understand it, Dan Gavitt was one of a few important people that was really adamant about having the season start on November twenty fifth, and then the oversight committee acids power to do look at everything considered all the MTV's the multi team events and said, you know what with so many of. These starting on November twenty third in a couple actually starting scheduled starting November twenty. First we think we best to bump up the season by about four days. Get it done on November twenty first and just use that runway toward the rest of the rest Thanksgiving week including Maui invitational etc. wouldn't you know GP The D. One council met today in the D. One council for those familiar one representative from all thirty two leagues that have Division One men's and women's basketball. And I don't know why it got to this point specifically but we are at November twenty fifth I mean I know one reason Gavin told me on the record November twenty fifth they estimate seventy, six percent of campuses. We'll have all of their entire student bodies off campus on November twenty five as opposed to twenty and twenty one is forty three percent and making these decisions for health and safety reasons is the first and foremost reason. For doing this also significant to meet November twenty one st never made sense at all because that's a Saturday we will have college football and we will be leading to an NFL Sunday you have Wednesday. Now November twenty five, we can start then you have day to yourself, there will be no NFL, there will be no college football there will be no MBA there will be no nhl there will be no pro baseball, the only major American. Sport, that will be played on Wednesday. November twenty fifth season will be college basketball and that in of itself I think is a positive up shoot. So

But Hawaii is going a step further at the airport in Maui, Thermal imaging and facial recognition technology are being installed in all arrival gates and checkpoints. Contact racers will then be able to stop passengers and screen them before they leave the airport.

"Legs. Maui stood before the steaming son admiring his work as Cala struggled against the ropes which were bound to a whealy really tree of incredible strength but Mao as heart sank when he remembered how much cola was needed and when Kolat threatened to leave the world in darkness forever. Maui was shocked. You would just watch the world die. Do you not believe in good mono- about how people see you. Good Mono- means nothing to me. Good bad who cares. I am the son you do not need approval and you have power. Molly considered this. He'd long cared what people thought of him and used his power purely for the purpose of impressing others hearing colosseum. This made him wonder if he'd been going about it. The wrong way that sounds freeing freeing it was until now from what about honor? I crave it. It's all I want. People honor you with their fear. No one fears Maui. Molly is a joke. As soon as he uttered the words Maui realized that it was true he was constantly laughed at slapped told to shut up. He did not know one person who had truly respected him during his pursuit of the sun even though he stood in front of the Great Cala having used his strength and courage to snare him he did not know if he was the right person to preach to Calla about honor when he had none a joke. You are I see it to now. Release me you have no right to hold the sun. You are not worthy. But as Maui considered his options he remembered his mother's words bodies. Not The only thing you need to be strong in. Maui looked at his rippling muscles strong lean adequate for great deeds but he realized the start that it was his mind that was being tested. Carla wanted him to give up on himself on his journey and he would not let his mind. Be The weak Link Cola. You must know what you do when you give the great molly a challenge. What are you whining about now? Maui Maui was already on his feet with a rock in hand. He strode toward the Burning Sun and raise the rock up high bringing it down on one of CAL's legs with great force. What are you doing? Stop my leg? No one tricks Maui. Maui moved to another leg and then another leg after leg. Crumpled in a fiery heap as Maui. Hit them over and over again with his rock colossus struggled against his bindings but could not get away from the onslaught. He could not break free. Stop Stop Stop. Please no more. Maui stopped panting. The Rock fell out of his hand as he faced the now pitiful. Cala his flames dimmed. He looked battered and exhausted as he turned. His defeated is toward Maui. You win no I will do what you ask. Just release me Maui. Maui thrived off of winning. It meant he had achieved what he had set out to. Do it meant that. He was powerful as he had thought but there was no joy in bringing Kolat to his knees. Instead he was filled with purpose. This felt necessary. You must travel slowly so people may fish and hunt so that crops may grow and that my beautiful mother can dry her kappa safely. And so I have more time to see myself each day but Maui has not finished sorry time will be measured by daylight and you you will be honored as a marker of time in fact your path is what all people below will used to plan their days. Fine but I will grow tired. Allow me some months of quicker flight so that I might rest. You wish to compromise. Yes let me see half the year we shall get longer days and in winters months you can pick up the pace cala. Yes that is a good compromise. It is fine and you said people will honor me so you do care if you are on board. Of course you foolish God who does not want to be praised by others but but you said it is weak to admit your insecurities. Molly smiled at this. After all he had gone through and all that he had overcome he thought that admitting your faults was the strongest if you could do I do not agree great Kulla but I think we have a deal yes. Maui grabbed Iraq and smashed it against the ropes that were coiled around the tree. One by one day loosened until finally Kalala was free. He rose up into the sky his speed fluid but slow as he ascended a brilliant expensive daylight fell over the island and the ocean surrounding it. Maui smiled but his past mistakes were heavy on his mind. He had rebelled in victory before only to discover that he had caused even more trouble. Perhaps this was merely the beginning of another problem. Molly's mother the Moon Goddess pounded bark into a pulpy sheet and laid it out on a sunny rock to dry. She was making Kappa cloths and hoped that this bark would soon turn into a beautiful skirt for someone to wear. She stepped back and looked upward at the sky. Daylight had held far longer than it had in the last few months. She smiled as the sun warmed her face. Perhaps her CAPRA's would finally be completed. Mother Hino looked over to see Maui we tentatively approach his hulking frame seemed somewhat childish as his is searched. His mother questioning Louis. Is Everything alright now. The Sun is still out so you are happy instead of answering. He strode over to Maui. He flinched ready for angry words or a slap but instead he noth- threw her arms around her son. Did you do this did you? Son I DID MOLLY. I am so proud of you. You're proud of me. They were the words that Maui needed to hear thrilled. He pushed back his mother to raise a fist in the air but he accidentally pushed her too hard and she toppled into the waterfall sputtering. She glared at Maui did you just don't our mother. Molly TURNED TO C. Naika standing with her hands on her hips. Her magical hair hung limp around her shoulders but she still exuded power flanking. Her was his grandmother. Maui wroto and his three other brothers. Molly put his head down nervous to face the rest of his family. They were always his toughest critics. Pick your head up hero. Maui looked up in shock. Unique smiled at him. Genuinely as his brother's rushed forward to embellish him with joy. Maui gazed around his family. Tears sparkling in his eyes as he basked in victory but also in the joy of respect and love for that was what he truly desired. Molly's tales frequently showcase his ability to alter nature for the good of civilization. He pulled up. Islands created mountains and valleys and was even said to be responsible for the first coconuts. Despite his missteps he wanted to use his abilities to create a better world his good deeds cemented him as a cultural hero in Polynesian mythology without Maui. The reliability of the sun would not exist and mankind perhaps fail to lead productive lives. His disorderly conduct actually established order in the end as a result he is revered by Polynesian cultures with a legacy that has spanned over a thousand years because as the Demi God himself would tell you Maui always wins..

Maui had reached out to his brothers for help in constructing sixteen indestructible ropes and nooses. A strand of his sisters magical hair was braided in each rope. Now we hope the magical properties would make the rope strong enough to hold the sun and he was about to find out. He crouched in a whole by the base of a whealy dealy tree on the peak of Mount Haleakala and waited for. Kolat the sun to pass overhead though he was poised and ready to strike. He was a bit early. Kolat was fast but he was still coming all the way from the East Maui side with impatience as he waited and waited and waited. Where is he thought? Cola like to be quick. Maui hummed to himself in frustration. His volume rose as he grew more and more impatient as his humming peaked. He startled an Albatross that had been perched on the uppermost branches of the whealy tree. The bird took off and blue right into collages path. Its feathers were immediately consumed by flames as it burnt to a crisp before. Mao as is but Maui barely noticed because the first leg of colas burning body was reaching above him making its way towards his crater to settle in for the night the earth shook and the heat became unbearable but Maui was ready. He grabbed one of the nueces and flung as hard as he could. It spun through the air heading straight toward laws flaming leg above him. Your Mark Mao as is flushed with excitement as he waited to see if the noose would land his aim was true. The rope hit Cala. It's forced propelled around and around robbing his leg tightly. Yes maui hit his chest in victory but he did not have time to revel in glory. As Colossus stepped forward. He felt the jerk of the restraint. He looked down his is full of lethal fury. He yanked at the rope but it held. Maui ducked behind the tree for cover as Cala let out another ferocious roar. What is this color? Tried to move forward using another leg to crawl over the mountain peak but Maui hopped out from his hiding place with another news in his hand. This rope found its mark as well and snaring Khalas second-leg Mao as is lit up at his victory. The old Maui might have taken the time to walk around and pound his chest victoriously even now his muscles tense with the desire to celebrate but instead Maui forced himself to focus he threw a third news then a fourth then a fifth it was. Then that Cola finally saw Maui standing by the whealy tree his breath with fury you you dare disrupts my sleep. You quick your path across the sky. Maui ducked out of the way just in time as Cala sent a ball of fire streaming toward him Kolat then roared and sent trails of fire down the ropes flying to burn them away but still they held Kala seethed coward. I am no coward. Kala simply laughed in answer to Maui always bold response. His laughter shook the mountain. A wave of heat exploded off him and rushed past. Maui nearly bringing him to his home. As the sun continued to laugh. Maui grew more and more angry. He hated not being taken seriously. You dare laughing at Maui. Maui thumped his chest forgetting about the noose he had in his hand. His body felt electric as he strode. Toward Cala you will pay for your jeers as Maui step. Closer Cala lashed out a free leg and whipped malaise feet out from under him. Maui pitched forward falling face first into the earth below as he lifted his head with a grown. His eyes widened. Three of Kala's legs were reaching toward him. He rolled out of the way just as the legs slammed into the ground as he ruled his hand closed around another news without waiting a moment he flung it into the air. It whipped around another of Khalas legs as he roared in protests. Maui stumbled to another news. He threw that one. It hit its mark then. He realized two hands better than one. Two hands of Maui. Better than thousand mortal hands. He grabbed two more ropes and flung them toward Cala. Maui Maui flung nooses one after another because Calla was already trapped. He could not effectively dodge the ropes that swung his way each leg. Maui aimed at was encircled by the news and pulled tight soon all Khalas legs but one were stretched out wide held firmly by the ropes. Like a burning spiderweb. Kala panted as his final leg thrashed about trying to hit Maui. Both of them burned with anger as they faced. One another then Maui through his final news just as Kalala raised his last leg and lashed it toward Maui. The leg slammed into Maui chest and he flew into the air but the news had found. Its mark it wrapped around his pulling Kalat taught as he tried to. Back Away Maui gingerly hauled himself to his feet there. He took the extraordinary sight before him. Cala was trapped. He struggled against the powerful ropes as they restricted his movements. The whealy whealy tree groaned in protest as the ropes were pulled but it held firm Colossus sent flames down the ropes trying again to burn them to ash but still they held. Sparks flew off of coladas. He roared anger. Lame spewed into the air landing at Mao as feet the demi-god danced in a little circle. As he taunted Kala. They said it could not be done but I have trapped son silence. I do not need to be quiet. You are the one trapped. I contains all I want. You will let me go or fume. Iraq. What rat you are trapped. No one told Maui. The Sun was so dense newly. Yes what stupid. You have shocked Maui. The Sun burned bright with anger for a moment and then dimmed down. Collage had never before been tested in this manner and despite himself he respected this brawny young man for trapping him. All right Maui. What is it you want. Thought you would never ask. What do Maui want? What does Maui want out with it? Hey Shifts Kala. Those ropes get tighter. You know what I want for you to slow down ever since I raised the sky and has been old zip zip for you. Why the Hurry? Take your time and we have no problem. Slow down for what for the people who live below Calla? They are suffering. I Care Not at all for what mortals need. What I need is sleep. Something you are getting in the way of. Then you leave Maui no choice. I will not release you until you agree to slow your path through the sky. Khalas bloodshot eyes looked down at Maui with amusement. Keep me here if you must then there will be no light at all. I will watch from this very peak as the world slowly dies. Then high will be known as Maui. The one who snuffed out the sun coming up Maui must find a balance between strength and cunning in order to get Kolat to change his mind now the conclusion to the story the Demi God. Maui had done the impossible. He had used sixteen. Nooses made from magical rope to capture the Sun Calla by restraining his eight son.

"Maui needs his mother his mother he was known for making exquisite kappa. Close and would certainly know how to craft strong rope molly race down from Mount Holyoke Allah's peek through the between the mountains and toward Hino's cave but when he arrived at her cave molly's heart sank. His four brothers were lounging around. The waterfall of fire roared the mouth to the cave illuminating. They're mocking faces as they watched Mao as approach. Maui took a deep breath and nodded to his brother's Aloha. He he brothers but he was interrupted when Maui wrote. Oh stood and pointed past Maui. Fear etched on his face. Now we watch out what. What is it? Maui tensed ready to spring into action. But when he turned around he saw nothing then he became aware that his brothers were stifling. Their laughter I think it was just a fly but please take care of it for us. It would be the most useful thing obscene. You do. Do not laugh at Maui. Then do not be so funny younger brother. It is an unfair ask before Maui could control himself. He let out a roar and kicked at the flowing waterfall almost at once. A huge torrent of water spun towards his laughing brothers putting the fire out and smashing them against the cave wall. I should not have done that. You Idiot Maui. Stood THERE HIS ANGER. Abating and guilt taking its place. His brothers had long teased and tormented him but he needed help and he no was nowhere to be seen. He'd have to take what he could get brothers enough. I am Maui and I am stronger than you. But it's your cocoa. Your I need now. And why should we help you? Molly did not know what to say. He and his brothers had never seen Aieda I and now here. He was about to beg for their assistance but he also knew he had never ask them for help before maybe their disdain for him was simply because he'd never included them in his adventures because it is a family affair this snaring of the Sun. And it is your chance to share and Maui. Glory Maui wrote Oh and the other brothers shared a dubious look but then slowly smiled. Told us more. Maui told his brother what needed to be done and together. They traveled back to the whealy dealy tree on Mt. Holly Accola all right brothers. You pick up those needles and then Maui please. Brothers began seamlessly Mao as four brothers began pulling down. Leaves Twisting Bark and using Bush needles to craft long thick gropes? Maui shifted on his feet uncomfortable at having nothing to do not controlling the situation. Maui wroto noticed Maui. It was you who brought us here. Let us do it needs to be done? I go on in Maui softened as he watched his brother's work Maui Rotas words echoed in his head. He brought them there. He did not have to be ordering people around or lifting heavy things in order to have done something sensible in fact there was even more he could be doing to support his brothers in their task. He could cheer them on. Maui began to clap slowly at first and then more vigorously. Oh what brothers. His claps were so loud that the ground began to shake beneath them soon. His brothers were unable to continue their weaving annoyed. Maui wrote stood and Chuck a small rock at Maui. The Rock smashed into the side of Maui face and he staggered back a few steps. Molly Rodeo grinned at him as the other brothers laughed as I said. Let us do what needs to be done. Maui stared at him in shock but then his face split into a smile. And for the first time Maui joined in his brother's Mirth as they all laughed at his foolishness hours later the brothers had finished the sixteen ropes were tied to the trunk of the whealy. Whealy tree each glistened with the glowing. Strand of hair from NAIDA. The other end of each rope was tied in a circular news. Maui stood over. Them proudly then gazed up at the sky. Still Dark but the hint of light was beginning to show upon the horizon. Kala was coming. Cala will be here momentarily. Take your positions love? Oh we are not staying brother. What but we weren't together now. Family affair all MAUI searched their faces for signs of ill will but could find none. He deflated a bit. He'd just gotten used to the idea of his brothers assistance and now they were abandoning him proves wrong and do not let out too much gas. This time US commoners have enough problems without the air. Starting to sour as brothers departed and he was finally left alone he gaze toward the sky. It lightened even more in the east. Only moments stood in the way of colas passing. Maui hurry to dig a hole at the base of the whealy tree and moved his large body inside of it and then he waited.

"Coming up. Maui realizes that this great mission of his will take considerably longer than he'd ever imagined now back to the story the Demi God Maui had set out on a quest to try and capture cala the sun after a so called here roic feet of his head. Some unforeseen consequences after getting instructions from his mother. He Not Maui had traveled to his grandmother on the northern side of Mount Haleakala. She Fed Cala Cooked Bananas. Each day before he laid down to rest but when Maui told his grandmother about his epoch plan to catch the sun she began to laugh. Maui did not like being laughed at. And he grew ashamed and then angry. He hit the ground hard but his strength was too great. The mountain that they stood upon seemed to buckle and sway from the force of his hit. Maui and his grandmother grabbed onto the whealy tree as they waited with bated breath for the mountain to topple but after a few heart pounding moments trembling stopped only a few rocks fell down from the peak above crashing into his grandmother's campsite and barely missing her hot. Mao As grandmother looked at him angrily. Can you not control yourself? Mo- Buna you are thick as a coconut meant to do that. You laughed at me. Old Woman. No one laughs at Maui or they feel my wrath Mao as grandmother reached out again to slap him across the face. That is for almost destroying. My heart is all powerful. A massive ball of fire. You expect to control him if you cannot control your own emotions. I intend to catch him to snare him. Somehow using my incredible powers see look. Are you looking grandmother? Maui flexed his muscles at her as evidence. His grandmother's side. She did not know if this eager youth before her had it in him to accomplish such a feat but he was here that already was more than any others could say. You need rope. The strongest there is and even then. I do not know if it can be done rope. Yes what kind of tell me I will find it. Oh this is not nearly lying around waiting for someone to happen. The party it you must. We've it yourself out of an indestructible materials. It must be the strongest rope you have ever made and you must make as many pieces as you can. Sixteen at least two for each leg sounds hard but to not for me never for Maui. Tell me where to find this material. Something tells me you will not like this. Next part there is someone with magical hair the strongest in existence. The hair of your sister UTICA. Maui froze dread filled the pit of his stomach at the mention of his sister's name whenever he encountered enough he could not help but be reminded of his false and he often shrank in her presence as he thought about finding her in the depths of the sea. He thought that maybe this task would be better left to someone else. Yes I knew you would not like this. She has a habit of making. You feel small. Does she not no one makes Maui feel small? No one is a family affair this sneering of the sun and after I make the rope you return here. Hide by the Willy Willy Tree when you see collapse first leg appear above you. That is when you strike. Do you need help finding your sister. No thank you grandmother. I know exactly where she is. Maui left his grandmother's camp and face the ocean. He was just in time to see coladas fiery charge over Mt. Holly Ocala then darkness fell once again. Molly waited there in the darkness for some time working up the courage to face his sister. Perhaps this is what his mother meant. When she said his mind must be strong he side. He would not let his fear of as admonishment be the reason he failed in his journey. He needed to continue forward. He took a few deep breaths stomping his feet and flapping his arms as he did so. His arms miraculously grew feathers soon becoming wings. His face on gated into a beak and his eyes turned small and black moments later. He had completed his transformation. And where the strong Demi God Maui had. Once stood was now an immense seagull. He took off into the sky. Swooping amongst the clouds and down into the waves speckles of surf exploded off the water hitting his face as he dove close to the water's surface. He pumped his wings quickly flying as fast as he could for. He knew that if he did not push himself to get to his sister quickly than current would fail him. As he passed a small island he suddenly dove beneath the waves in one fell swoop. As soon as Maui swept below the surface of the ocean. He was once again in his human form despite this he had no trouble breathing beneath the sea as he swam gingerly downward and downward and downward to the darkest depths until he saw what he was looking for a small shack sat amidst coral cluster surrounded by columns of coral and other sea fauna. A light was on within piercing. The darkness of the water like a knife. Maui SWAM TOWARD IT. Powering through the water until he had reached the front door. He hesitated then slowly. Lifted up a hand to knock brother. The door swung open and Maui found himself face to face with his elder sister. She was a small Pale woman with long magical hair that floated about her with an ethereal strangeness it was Shiny Seaweed Like would also glowed with an obvious power on her face. A gentle smile curved up in a slight smirk. She looked her brother up and down and raised an eyebrow. I would have thought you had grown larger by NOW EKA O. Do not be so formal Greek me properly. Eneko pulled Maui into a hug and ushered him inside her home. The door closed with a thud. Molly entered and looked around out in the world. He was in posing towering but inexplicably here in this small shack. He somehow seemed smaller. Eneko flitted about the room moving over to an easel where she was artfully arranging shells in a pattern. She already seemed bored with Maui as she stifled. Yawn. Maui cleared his throat trying to get her attention back. You waste away down here. What do you do to entertain yourself? I like my quiet just like you like your little tricks. Little TRICKS LITTLE ALRIGHT SYSTEM. What you wish. Mother tells me gotten a fat head up there. That is the seals belly by the sound of it. I have accomplished the greatest defeats you. You have no idea you manage to destroy an entire way of life. That is certainly a great feat. Maui closed his eyes trying not to let his frustration. Boil UP HIS SISTER. Knew she had a way of getting to him and he would not give her that pleasure. I have come to ask something of you. Oh Ask then. I- Maui noticed that he night was not looking at him instead. She had busied herself with arranging her shells admiring her slowly. Emerging piece of art he was trying to save the world above and she could not even give him a moment of her time. His fists clenched tightly. But then all at once the fight went out of him as Maui stared at her back. A feeling welled up inside of him. He was sick of being laughed at sick of being underestimated sick of no one recognizing his greatness when all along he had known how great he was but he realized now that he was not going to get admiration by asking for it and more than that he was not going to change his sister's mind when it was clearly already decided and so for once he would not try the thought of no longer carrying what his sister thought of him instilled him with such relief that he let out a short laugh. He did not need her approval just her hair and so as a NI- ignored her pestering younger brother to work on her esteemed art piece. She did not notice him slowly. Drifting through the water behind her his hand stretched out poised to pluck out a few strands of her magical hair but just as his hand near her head. Eneko whipped around and grabbed. Mauer's wrist with shocking speed. Maui winced as her fingers dug into his flesh and and her eyes flashed with malice disk disk little brother. I did not hear you ask nicely..

"Something to note. All myths have many versions and variations for this episode. We've selected those. We fell to the most dramatic and entertaining and supplemented them with additional research into Polynesian traditions. Because mythology comes from oral tradition there's a wide variety across sources are myths may not always be the version your familiar with but we hope you'll enjoy them the denny God. Maui stood atop a mountain sweat poured from his brow as he pushed with all his might against the sky above him. His feet planted strongly on the earth made indents where he stood his muscles rippled every limb shook with exertion a gourd hung around his waist quivering gently along with his body's tremors. Maui gritted his teeth and reach down. Grab it. He held the Gourd to his lips and drank deeply. Whatever the liquid was it invigorated him. He resumed his task with a new ferocity. Little and Maui has one. He was determined to lift up the sky. Not just because it would make life better for the people who lived under it but because everyone said it could not be done Is No one underestimates. Maui a mischievous smile came to Mao as lips as with one last push. The Sky finally unfurled itself above. Look at that sky to me and my gifts. Maui looked endearingly at his strong muscles and planted a kiss on his BICEP. Then he flung a fist in the air to Maui took a moment to gaze out at the view he'd created islands with high mountain peaks peppered the ocean creating a vast canvas of beauty with the sky so high. There was no limit to what Maui could see but as Maui stood there basking in his victory. The Sky began to darken. Maui looked up to see QALAA. The Sun racing across the sky and toward the horizon beyond where he disappeared taking the world's light with him. That is not good..

"The Ocean was alive. Some of its wave splash loudly excited to reach the shore while of is stretched out lazily in Pani White Phone Ovo the wish of the waves a familiar voice code out kyw's name from the shoal his mother it was time to get the hook out of the water. No fish this time. But that was not bother. He had the rest of his life to keep fishing. Kyw headed back to the beach. Enjoying the Swish of the water around his ankles and the soft sand onto his feet for a few moments. He considered what it would be like to live at. The bottom of the ocean seemed like a place of extraordinary tranquility. Ooh Bear swimming in the deep blue. He could make a variety of new friends not only fish but all sorts of sea creatures. He could sleep. Among forests of colorful coral splash with chatty dolphin and even sing with the way kyle loved wave between November and April these majestic creatures migrated to Hawaii to enjoy the womb tropical waters. His Father Angran father saw them often fishing out in the deep occasionally the whales could be seen from the village coming up for air at the surface and even jumping playfully out of the water. Kyw always wondered what s songs were about. Maui probably knew. He thought kyw exited the water and took his first step onto the beach looked down at his footprints on the thin stretch. Wet Sand Dune. They lasted only for a moment before being washed away by. Wave Ben the SANGRE warmer as he moved beyond the reach of the water in contrast the dry sand stuck to his feet. He liked the way that sand filtered between his toes as he walked with the sun. High in the sky the beach was worn. A Chi- joined his mother under the calming shade of Palm Tree. She offered him a coconut and kissed his forehead gently. Kyw GEICO enjoying this loving gesture and thanks his mother for that the lightfoot treat to put down his fishing pole and with the coconut in his left hand sat on the sand watching the Ocean. Each sip of coconut water found light and refreshing. It was cool and sweet and kind. -joyed it to the loss. Drop with a shell. He shaved the ten. The coconut flesh from the inside a knitted down bit by bit once finished. Kyw Laid flat on his back and gazed up at the sky. It was an intense shade of blue. A few thin dainty clouds meander gradually across his view clouds come from and how far away where they wanted. He remembered an old legend about Maui. According to that story the sky was once very low. It was so close to the ground. In fact the people couldn't Walk Upright to end the people suffering. Maui decided to push up the sky. Though he was strong and powerful he knew this was a task. He couldn't complete alone With kindness in his heart and determination in his eyes. Maui asked his father for help together. They lifted the sky high above allowing room for mankind to flourish. Now the sky looked very far. It was far beyond even the tallest tree atop the tallest mountain on the island. The Legend about father and son reminded kyw of his own dot com. It was nearly time for the fishermen to return to the island. He stood up brushed the sand off himself and scan the horizon for canoes just off on the horizon. He could say handful of Long Brown canoes making their way around the reef and into the cove from the beach the canoes when no bigger than ants. Ooh With the wind and the waves that land back they go closer in no time the canoes. They used hat. An ultra long wooden beam fastened to the hull of the Canoe which made the boat much more stable as the canoes. A fanned out and rode a Cento wave laughing racing one other kyw watched as they patio to the shore once they reached the shallows the fishermen hot gracefully out of their canoes and poured them onto the beach leaving his fishing pole behind. Chiron happily to greet them off the hugging his father and grandfather. Kyle curiously inside that Canadians. The long hand carved boats were filled with shimmering gray fish. Let's thank the ocean for being so generous today. One of the fishermen said smiling. I watched as all the fishermen gathered in a circle. Then facing the ocean took a moment to express that gratitude They thank their canoes. The wind on the waves the ancestors who guided them and most of all the fish themselves often they inspiring moment. The fishermen carrot the Koch back to the village. It was a warm lovely afternoon calling for a bite to eat and some time to relax so all went home to their cozy huts just stopped from the beach inside the cool shade of their thought. Chart car towed his father about his fishing practice You talked about Bates how he listened to the ocean and how one day he would catch the king of fish. Pima just like Maui long ago. Kai's father smiled with pride he offered to tell. Kye a story of his own. Kyw happily accepted ready hoping that it would be one about Maui. They won't back to the beach and found a comfortable place in the shade of the sound of the waves in the background. Kyw found out how Maui blessed that Ireland with Long Sunny Day. Ooh A long time ago. Sunrise and sunset would different than what we see today. The Blue Sky lasted only a few moments because the some rose in a hurry and was quickly replaced by the moon. The days was so short and the people had no paternity to enjoy them was often code and activities were limited. The people would thrive with longer days. Maui decided that it was time to stop the Sun. An impossible task seemed but Maui had faith.

"It's very much like that. Let's talk about the game itself the breakdown XS and Os. That's why people listen to us. They they really really knew. I knew that that breakdown of illustrator. Let me let me explain basketball. You Dumb fucks folks listening to this right here bounce pass okay. Ball's GonNa hit the ground going to bounce back up in J if you're listening I do. Let me rewind. Every time I've met Bilas I five or six times every time I see him. I always come away wondering if he thinks I don't like him because like we interact on twitter and all like Joe. Obviously I we joke about. It's wrong thing and all that I could never ever tell because like he's always very very friendly to be but then I maybe I'm just inside my head. I I just wanted to say that if you're not you're not listening but I do actually love you i. I don't know that was. That was very soft. I shouldn't have said that okay. Let's let's rattle o'clock Jay Bilas but okay so XS and Os came into this game Are we topping. Was it for Dayton. We already know that he he in my automation. He should be the national player. You're right now and I don't think that's reactionary. I think like the numbers. He's putting up her absolutely insane. He is skill. Set is unbelievable. I don't I don't know where he projects Serbia draft. But I have a feeling that where he projected before Maui where he's going to actually adopt on the night of draft night is going to be vastly different So he come into this game. He's a mismatch this match nightmare he can. He can do anything out there right. And then on the flip side It's as a bouquet for Kansas is first of all house. Bill could guard top because stopping can stretch amount making. Pull them away from the pain. But the house top bouquet because as a book as massive and can dunk on day and That was fascinating. Matchup played played out. That way is like that was basically the entire the entire game was that was basically centered around UK. Dayton had no nobody could guard him and they also had nobody that he could guard. Yeah he was just kind of like floating around out there like trying to figure out came chess match at some level because at the start of the game as bouquet rate I mean top and his fronting him in the post. Awesome and Devan Dawson was doing a great job in body and Marcus get all the entry passes that they were making there were thrown over the top and then as bouquet was basically getting position and then getting dunked thousand Suk's when he dunks by the way I see his face like sitting courtside. You see doc and you just got like a straight face. It's like another dunker man. Yeah those are pretty fun as it. Aside warns deal. He had the big alleyoop in overtime that we remember that. That was the one I was like. Oh Kansas is probably gonNA run away with this even the night before thousands Ellsworth some. That was the most I've ever seen from Azabu that was against. Byu obviously Just looking at the start of the game top in getting worn out by that front line and that was something that we you're kind of pointing out before because yes topping is a great five is a stretch five and Mike Tomlin those two guys like Kinda can stretch the four on the other end but those kind of stuck to the game implant. It's funny because the night before they asked. Did you think about the lineup of McCormack in and you can put out there that can step out and shoot threes and exactly so so they were kind of living in that same world and it was a struggle of will in the sense that it was the old version of what everyone expects basketball to be. Where where it's inside out versus is the Dayton we've seen in the past five years or not really? We've seen the past five years but we've talked about in the past five years. Everyone wants to point out positions basketball especially Tom. Green and Dan was a battle of will at some point in top. It has got worn out because the bodies were being with them as a good job of just kind of like not getting in foul trouble being you know what I kind of stay down and centered but I know he made early Utah. You know what you mean like fell trouble. He he wasn't it was overtime folks Big Men are going to foul out but like yeah. It didn't really feel like foul trouble like he was never sitting on the bench for like nine minutes at a time. You know it was. It was one of those things where it completely affected to the game as we talked about afterwards even Divan Dodson I would say is by far the most important player best player on Kansas. Probably in this game today it was as a bouquet that really set the tone yeah even with Dotson was scoring story and and Dotson had an insane game. And I don't mean to downplay what he did was he played. Every second of the game was very clearly like the engine that drew vows house. Yeah on Dayton. He's out saying he was very very good. But from a from a strategy standpoint the Game Kansas the Kansas entire game plants in around Buca in he was the the guy and in that regard It it it just made for a fascinating thing and and and I think like I said this video that we shot the right after the game was over. I stuff like this is what makes me college. Basketball's wells because Dayton had a very different approach than Kansas. Did neither coach gave in A Dayton played what's Shamanga. That's the kid I was thinking. Eighty grand puts him in for a little bit. He played a little like all right. We gotTA figure out a way to slow down Osberg Anti and she manga cinderblocks Fida from being honest compared to athletes of Kansas has just couldn't move well enough to play a little turn around bucket. Tuck it that was it. Yeah he's not he's not a bad player he's just like you know he's just a big you know. I think it was more of a mental thing to show Kansas. They could match the big man you know. But we'll sesame does he. He puts him EH EH. But then you realize that kind of limits. Dayton's offense in Dayton was doing when he's in the game suddenly you're taking away. What makes Dayton great which is that you can spread the floor of everybody so he was like whoops my bad pulsa manga out and then from there it was like neither coach gave in there? Like we're sticking our game plan. This is what we're going to do This is going to win the Game Anthony Grants. We're GONNA hit twenty. Three's and we'RE GONNA win this game. A bill sells like we are going to get twenty dogs from Abu. We're GONNA win this game now. The one of them back down and unfortunately I don't think either one of them should have. That's what made it a great game. It was like they were all. Everybody was playing well doing exactly what they wanted to do. And somebody had to lose. Unfortunately they kept being body-blows. Ab Watson Guy came off the bench. She was shoot really well from three. I think he was four eight at one point. I asked you and I was like yeah. I felt like he's four. Four everytime takes shots going in from three and Crutcher is obviously having having a great game and he ends up taking the big shot at the ties at three and we go to overtime and as you have every single moment in that game as as the momentum. Golden Goethe's like swinging back and forth. I kept saying to myself. Oh this will be the run that Dayton will make the windows Gamer. This'll be the you kind of playing the game and then I just got laws and I forgot that. It's always the same race in the race. It's a sixty sixty nine and they won the game and it makes sense so I saw it happening in my head. I was like what and I look at the fact that was right in front of everyone. It's kind of like where we are with that whole situation is we got one of the best games of the season. If not the best game in Maui Perfect College basketball it is absolutely. It's all the things with again all the things that we make fun of people for like we're falling victim to because you make fun of like people that come to Maui and they watch the. JV managing man they make uh-huh this was the greatest everything. Whatever you know you roll your eyes like listen? It was good like Notre Dame won in two thousand seventeen congratulations. It's good like keeping your pants. My God they're not the fifth best team in the country. Calm relaxed everybody. Come down in fifth percents. I'm here I see how that happened. Episode data's really really good. We've got to keep an eye on the Dayton add Davidson game and they might not be a top team but we'll keep an eye on. That is funny though. Because so you're totally right in the sense that like I think Dayton made Kansas looked to me like a legitimate contender or play like they made the play to their potential. There is something about that the like Kansas is this was pushed to a level by date. I don't know the the whole thing was just so great. Man It was it was just a really really good championship game in as big as As the big boy I almost called it. The Best Bill Self said in the Post Game Press. That was a big boy game And and and guys were stepping up and it. It was the best players on the team that are stepping up and it was really cool. So how do we feel like moving forward than like about Kansas because Kansas loss to do and a lot of people are tuning into this podcast. Hot Gas wanting to hear US talk about Duke relaxed. We're going to don't you worry we're going to get to that in a second Kansas Kansas opens the season losing to do they had. I think. Think forty-one turnovers in that game. I don't know the double check of sixty nine. They they turned it over like crazy. Duke as we know is is now. This is not the number one team the country so where where does that leave Kansas in your mind after you. You know knowing what they did against do it knowing that they they just want Maui invitational. Is there someone between you still a believer in Kansas. I'm a believer in what we talked about in the original episode. One of the tape. podcast which is the champions. CLASSIC CLASSIC IS NULL and void. The champions not matter the champions classic is a waste of your time. This is a great point. And when you watch that Kansas game versus what you saw today against Dayton that there's other that will extrapolate that point to the Max because what what dots was against Trade Jones. He got lost in the one on one game with trae Johm Mhm Entry Jones defender and he kind of just stayed steady. And now you look at Dotson ended it. Looks like he's unflappable. And it's what you know. Twenty days or whatever's in that first game and it's funny because I think the season actually starts in my mind now so about point. The season starts when we start podcast and so right now I would say Kansas as the number one the country I think they have every right to be the number one country. I don't care if they've lost a do. We just saw them. beat a team like we said Dayton as a top five team potentially so they did that neutral-site insight they'd be. Byu I think Byu's a really good it was very very good They're Byu is going to make the tournament and very obviously they didn't have their best player. I was really really impressed by by UTAH. They're fun to watch There is obviously limited. A not not to be stereotypical here but they're just team full of white guys that swallow alive by Kansas length and athleticism only because like Kansas. In that game right they start out on the back and forth affair. Byu playing putting that was basically the Byu game was basically Kansas Kansas. The exact same game just like. Byu Isn't as good as they don't have the athleticism of the data and Jacobs all center..
