"Two, and then a ways behind him, we have Dustin Johnson, Patrick cantlay, Justin Thomas, Victor hovland, was number 6, Xander, Bryson was number 8, Rory was number 9. Cameron Smith was number ten. Let's see, a few other notable is you have Spieth at 15, Daniel Berger was in the top 20. He was at 18 will zeal at walking Neiman was down at 31 Matthew wolf was still at 30. Will Zelda torch was at 36, which was one spot behind Phil Mickelson. Guys a lot happens in a year. I guess that's the story I'm trying to tell with that little run through. It was it's the weirdest year, right? I mean, we're just here in golf history. Is that fair to say? I mean, with everything combined in it. I mean, I think your point about the golf is maybe the part we forget the most, right? Like who was ranked one and where some of these guys fell. But in terms of just golf across the board, we had these mixes of greatness, right? We had like top star athletes winning big events. Mixed in with the crazy, weirdest strangest like what's gonna happen next week. Year we've ever had in the sport. I think no one in golf media cares more about the year end top three in the rankings more than Dylan, at least that's the vibe that I get. He really cares about these things. And it's never been more important, like the fact that cam Smith was ranked tenth and just kind of like entering our, I guess, our ecosystem of what we care about. He beats John rom in Hawaii. Week one, he shoots 34 under in the process. And obviously that is 12 months ago, but it feels like 12 years ago. And it feels that way because life was so simple then. It really was simple. I thought we had John rahm as like our king. Number one in the world. He quickly kind of falls off after that. And cam Smith, I'm just worried about what the PGA Tour is going to do with all of its recent winners at the beginning of the year. They can't talk about cam Smith winning Hawaii. They can't talk about Hudson swafford winning in the desert.

"He doesn't have to drive from city to city sleeping in his car and all this stuff like a Callum Taryn when he wins his first PGA Tour event is going to be a lot more and more emotional, maybe about his financial stability now and being able to just be in this thing and become like a big household name as opposed to like, all right, now I'm like one away from catching Tiger Woods and like being in the record books. That initially I was feeling might be different for different people. You know what I mean? I would say those things aren't mutually exclusive though. Like, if you win. Yeah, you can feel both. I think most guys probably feel both. I think there are probably probably do, but I have all this money now accomplished this thing as well, or the other way. It's like, oh, I accomplished this thing. I always wanted to. Oh, and I have all this money. I actually think those things are far more mixed than they are mutually exclusive. But they're mutually exclusive in the fact that at the end of the day, guys are choosing one over the other and you're seeing that now from week to week with live tour. Like guys are just deciding on one over the other. So like, I'm just saying that there's two different types of people, I think, that what drives them more. Clearly, what you're saying, if will's outdoors was presented with $500 million, what drives him more is all the stuff that Riggs just said. And then if you and show Matthew wolf, that $500 million, he's going to go to the money as opposed to caring at all about being a PGA Tour historic leader. All right, and if we look at it that way, which it probably is that way, the numbers far, far more skew in the PGA Tour direction. Like, we see all the names that live guys get, but it's a very, very, very small percentage of people who have gotten that money. Like it's the fields are small. They're doing that on purpose. So it's like, yeah, maybe they offered all these guys a ton of money. It seems like they offered everybody under the sun. Anybody who had any sort of pedigree, any sort of pedigree on the PGA Tour, gotta offer from live and a very small percentage of players, a very small percentage of the top ten players in the world took that money. So then you gotta think that the regular like the way the human brain would work is it money or is it glory? It seems like a lot of people pick glory. We're just focused on the guys who pick the money because they're a huge name. But there's only like 20 guys that make the PGA Tour with the PGA Tour is. So there's already a very fine night amount of people that live could have picked from that would have made an impact, right?

"Of those three players were playing at any of those events I just named. They would all be on every one of those players would be on featured group coverage. So when I hear this BS about the fact that although they're not signed in top players, well, they didn't get Roy McIlroy and Scottie scheffler and John rom, no, they don't have them. They didn't get Jordan Spieth yet, not yet. You know, they didn't get Patrick canley yet. They didn't get head Hideki matsuyama yet. They didn't get Cameron Smith yet. But I'll tell you what, any of those players that people, the media likes to point out, although, you know, that wasn't much of a signing stints and Koch rack and Charles hall with third. Those three players would all be in featured group coverage of their plan on the PGA Tour and half their events. That's how bad the PGA Tour events are. You know, I mean, that's just the fat Matthew wolf. So young player they got, you know? James piet number one ranked damage or the Oklahoma state golf for that day. So guys, number two ranked amateur world. They're not void of talent on this live tour. And they're getting more. They're going to get more. I don't know what they're looking at. Obviously they wanted the top players. But then they just started taking players. Greg Norman gets a lot of criticism. But Greg Norman is not an idiot. Craig Dorman is a very, very successful businessman. I mean, you know, people criticize Greg Norman. They criticize the fact that he'd lost the masters on the last round or they can criticize him for whatever. He posts pictures of himself standing in the shower. Whatever they want to, they laugh at them, they criticize them. They make fun of them. You know, he's got a vendetta out against the PGA Tour. They talk about that. But I haven't heard anybody that was stupid enough to criticize Greg Norman's business sense. Now, Greg Norman is not sharing, and I don't think he's certainly had something to do with it, but he's not the one that came up with this whole L IV business plan. See, people are people are saying like the LA VO they're just throwing all this money in there, they're never going to get it back. They don't care if they get it back. I don't think that's true. I don't think that's true at all. They have a big, big capital investment in this thing. Funded by

We saw some give back on Wall Street, the rebound in global equity stalled out there. The losses weren't great, though the S&P 500 was down about three tenths of a percent. Some of it was driven by higher oil prices and higher yields because those had been going the other direction during the furious equity rallies last week. Anyway, WTI is still higher this morning in Asia, but yields have stabilized. They're not really doing all that much to yield on a ten year. Is that 3.19% to two year at three O 9. "Yeah, I guess GE might be a better, a better comp. Founded in 1906 in Monterey, Mexico. How about that? Real quick. I think Alex Molly, I hadn't seen much of him until this weekend. Impressed with his tempo. Love that golf swing. He has low arm tension. That's what everyone should be emulating out there. Davis Riley always good to see him on the board. Yeah, I feel bad. I kind of did a drive by on Davis Riley, but why? What I was saying about a swing. I just feel like he swings so good. Well, I get that, but my point is I find it more interesting to watch a guy like kitty Yama try to get it around than I do watching you just described your golf game to a T like, oh yeah, the adventure is more fun than just doing it the smart stock way here. Yeah, for sure. As an entertainment product for sure, I wish more swings on the PGA Tour were unique. And I think in the age of the track man, we're getting away from that. There's just not a lot of homegrown golf swings out there. Like I hate that Matthew wolf is in the wilderness because I love watching him swing the golf club. I think it's crazy. And it's fun. You know, I hope he gets back. I love watching furyk hit the ball. I think it's fascinating. So that's just my personal my personal feelings. Every player has their own unique style of play. They have their own unique way of swinging the golf club. That's part of what we love about golf. It also happens to be what we love about bourbon, like Elijah Craig, for example, Neil's got some sitting right there. That was totally by accident. Elijah Craig, you were smoother than Elijah Craig with these transitions. I've got the ride tonight actually. Yeah, so think it's not barrel proof, but it's the kind of the rye whisky, which is good stuff. Great discussion.

"My big takeaway from the week is that holy cow holy cow holy cow. It is so darn hard to win on the PGA Tour. This isn't even in a really, really big tournament. This was in a pretty mid sized mid level size golf tournament. And Martin trainer was holding on to the steering wheel and the steering wheel was shaking. And, you know, if anyone's driven about a hundred miles an hour in their car, the steering wheel, if the car isn't used to that, starts shaking. And that's kind of what it looked like for him. It's kind of what it looked like for Scotty scheffler. That's definitely what it looked like at moments for Kevin tway. And Matthew wolf even looked really shaky. And I guess it was just on full display that at any given moment, any given tournament, there's just a lot of luck involved. There's a lot of randomness involved, and it's definitely maddening when you have the cream of the crop rise. The cream rises to the top and you have a group of ten people that are one of them is going to win the tournament this week. And it kind of comes down to whichever one was about the luckiest or basically whatever one hit like three or four shots at the end of the day. It was really hard for me to watch the wheels fall off for a couple of people at the tournament today. And you know what? Maybe it's because we really, really like Martin trainer. But even Scotty scheffler, I was pulling for that kid to get his first victory. And he looked super shaky until he was out of it and then suddenly he starts bomb and driver everywhere and hitting the fairway. It is an absolute mental grind out there and maybe the person who was freest was the person who entered the day ten shots back and eventually shot 65 and won the gulf tournament Jason Kokrak, you know? There's something to be said for.

And then I started crying and then they like said yes, but it was I was like, I wish I could have done it on a golf course or something. I'm doing it while you guys are eating Mexican food at the table, so. I was like in a rush. Yeah, so whatever. Pictures regret. Thank you. Enough about me. Let's, you know, I know people like to fucking hate. But one time when you said, no, dude, this is bigger than that. No, that's. This is a huge life moment. Congrats. Yeah, all those people that are thinking that right now, they go fuck themselves they go listen. Totally. Yeah. And we've seen this whole thing through different stages and the bar so classic watching you like try to operate trying to get this thing done. You're a neurotic person. I think that's fair to say, and we were just trying to be like, something might go wrong, but you just gotta get through it. And I think you handled it as bad as well as you possibly could. Totally. I thought you were very composed. On Monday, I thought you were very composed. I agree. Dude, on Friday, whenever we be a Friday when we played in Indiana, I was in the shower and we had just played Denver that went well. And then I'm in the shower about to go to Indiana. We're getting all these pictures of like lines down the block. We're here in like 2500 people are going to go there. The owner of the bar said, it's the biggest event at Indiana University all year. I'm looking at my elbow in the shower being like, dude, I'm like one crashing away from this thing blowing. Like on the first song. I was just like, what happens if that happens? Like so much so many people are excited for us and then I'm like in the shower and I'm thinking like Monday's coming up and bro like the black in my eyes started getting closer to the middle. I was like, it was my first ever real life like diagnosed panic attack. It was a legitimate, you look on WebMD. What is a fucking stress anxiety panic attack? That was it. So that was dude, I almost passed out in the shower, which would have been bad. Really bad. I go up to Robbie Fox. I'm like, dude, I don't think I can play the show. I'm like something's wrong with me. He's like, you're fine. I was like, I don't think I am, man. It was weird. Do you feel like a weight has been lifted or is it now just whatever the next thing is is weighing down on you? Yeah, no, 'cause this is a big one. That's a really big one to get to. No, this was a big one. This was exciting. So yeah, now we're working with cross country mortgage. I don't know if we have a fucking ad read for them, but that's the next step, and then yeah, we just live our lives now. Just live your life. I love it. Congratulations. Do you have a JT? Justin Thomas came in hot money. Yeah. And your comments, Matthew wolf was in your comments. There are some big names in your account. I thought that was pretty cool. I was scrolling through. "Now it's like the champion store fell fells being mean my opinion. Who one of the old timers is famous for. Showing up to the british open once winning it and then never going and play ever again. I don't know if it was like hagen. I can't remember which one but somebody win over there. Once the twenties or thirties won the british open. Never went back over again. That's film or that could be tiger woods with the senior tour. And i do laugh at the throw that like clearly. There's an advantage to being fifty years old and like one day versus being fifty eight years old like a massive advantage of that age. And you do get this every where you see you guys like ernie els i feel like was a year or two ago where he showed up in one freddie couples however four or five years ago he showed up and just started winning on the door. Because they're early over fifty years old. And that's phil mickelson right now cashing in matthew wolf. Big jobs matthew wolf. Who was off. The radar was back hanging out with his friends at oklahoma state and all the sudden he reemerges has a great performance in vegas. He went sixty four. Sixty seven sixty five sixty eight finished solo second still with those scores finishing four shots back which is very funny and how hard and pg or is but matt wolf who went through some mental stuff and very outspoken. About it at the us open. Nice imply well. He's a name that you wanna see succeed. He's a good guy. We've had a couple of good run-ins with him. He's very very down to earth Definitely i. We thought that he was going to be this like college kid. That like we couldn't stand especially after that. Match that seminal. I think it was where he was saying. That's gucci bron wi fi. I say hi and all that stuff. I just couldn't take any of it then. We met him in person. Awesome dude down to earth. Funny gets all of our jokes. Gets our humor. I've become a fan of matthew will forever after that. Because he's just very very cool a guy that i wanna drink beers with which. I didn't think i'd ever want to spend any time with them. So nice yeah. Nice to see him see him on the comeback. Hopefully hopefully. it's a sign of more things economy a good year for that kid for sure so He also bombed. I don't know if you saw this polite part for was to ninety kind of into the wind he just rip three wooden was dislike on the back edge of the green so just cool stuff that they're able to do and congratulate him hopefully does have a good year..

So you're not the only one But let's let's run through sunday's round. He started three. That's birdie on the first hole then four four and then he went three three three three three four three three three so a lot of threes and If you're making threes then you're then you're doing something right. "But when we're in this playoff situation in you looking for a dark horse i go straight straight to the fedex cup rankings and see who has to finish where in order to play next week because only the top seventy standings Are are are moving on. And who i found was mackenzie. Who's who's who's who's sitting sixty seven on the fedex cup rankings and i'm gonna roll with him as my dark horse to finish top twenty ac plus five hundred Like i said if he wants to advance into next week and give himself any sort of look at being in the top twenty five. Come eastlake in two weeks. He's gonna need a great finish this week. And he's he's proven he can do just that finishing top twenty and three of his last five starts so he's gonna have to finish it off kind of by getting that t. ball together this week. He's lost jokes with his driver in five last six events but if there's Situational darkhorse. i liked this week. It's it's mackenzie hughes Top twenty at plus five hundred yen for my dark horse. I did not like him earlier in the year. But i'm i'm getting on this this week. Matthew wolf at one hundred eighty two one. I thought it was a misprint. When i first saw so this guy was a favorite earlier in the year even when he was withdrawn missing cuts w dean couldn't break eighty. You know he would. He was going into the tournaments. Like whether it be a three emma rocket mortgage at thirty five to one forty five to one fifty to one and it just really seems like with this number vegas is just completely given up on them but in terms of you know he's fifty nine in the face. Cup is not having terrible year as People with thinks he's one of the best amateurs like we've ever seen right. He's one of the most talented golfers out there. You know absolutely just bombs it off. The geez always top five top ten driving distance and the one thing i talked about is like i will not pick matt wolf not pick. I see a little bit of form right. You can't Matt wolf would be forty five to one when he's wd the week before taking a month. You know going up like you can't do a candle. Press conference dr bob. Yeah exactly but in terms of he's made the cut in his last four starts. I just feel like when we get a guy jumped out awareness completely win at one hundred eighty one throw a couple of bucks on them. You know that could really be to be something nice so if anyone is able is able to come out of nowhere it's a guy like matthew wolf talk just absolutely bombs it can get on a roll. Santa run away with it so my dark horse is matthew wolf at one hundred. Eighty two one so moving onto our northern trust. Draftkings lineup Tied it up last week. so so fiber's five now between Me and lead. So i'll start off here with my lineup. I'm going Brooks kept good started off them. Going scotty shuffler I'm wearing sam. Berns billy horseshoe bubba watson and seamus power in with remaining salary of five hundred dollars so You know looking at game just a little bit of value. I kind of haven't either left anything over the past couple of weeks in can't can't rely on these these heavy favorites so kind of that. That goes a little bit behind the scenes. Power and billy horsham pics then for my for my team going with them going super top heavy but jesse johnson more kala. Russell started a lot of form lately. Then we're going a little bit off. The deep end gear with maverick mcnealy mattie wolf and carlos ortiz. I'm capped out. Like the los angeles lakers and finally onto our northern trust. Best bet of the week. I'll start off here. Kevin stroman top twenty at plus three hundred and the reason that stranded my best bet. This week is because you know it's a value. Pick for what you're getting. He's finished top. Twenty six of his last eight events. Most recently coming last week at the wyndham with seven points finish and the motivation is is high for showman in the big picture You know he's had a fantastic stretch of golf here to close out two thousand twenty one yet. He's fifty third in the fedex. Cup standings so you think you know a guy likes shulamit. He has finished top twenty in in in every major that he's played in this year didn't play the masters but eighth the pga fifteen. The us open nineteen at the open. So definitely someone who's going to have a lot of Incentive to finish high the next two weeks getting that top twenty five going into eastlake so more than enough data to tell us that stream is more than capable of contending in these elite fields with this high finishes at the majors in so My best bet for the week is kevin strom in top twenty plus three hundred it hopefully stop by the gas station grasping glasses before the round. And and academy. For some wilson clubs. But i gotta. I gotta put that aside this week lead exactly and for my best bet on more Us to ten is leading the fedex cup you know obviously wants to keep that lead going into going into the east lake obviously winning the fedex cup but can obviously go for it. He does you know you can finish. Dfl this weekend. It's not the end of the world but just in terms of his is recently top fours. Informed last five starts top ten. Six of his last nine starts..

I don't trust song j. And if he's going to be popular that's a no thanks for me. I mean i guess. Adam scott's got some motivation because he's outside the top one twenty five. But i don't know he might be looking for like a maybe some time off so i don't really care like i'm gonna let you have this week. I'm going to be off them. And then i just going to be office. Money list you top fifty in history of of golf like like the just the longevity alone like if you have a ten year career where you have you sprinkle in a couple of wins and just make way more than arnold palmer on the course. Oh my god it's not even close. Yeah yeah arnold palmer probably made four million dollars on. The course and charley hoffman. Probably makes four million dollars a year. I'm i'm bringing in wisconsin. So you taken harris english if it's next week if it's next week yeah i mean i mean coming off a win coming off the. Us open playing well as he has done everything. Well especially this week. He drove a good approach. Good chipping good putting good. There's no weaknesses there Planks a golf course. That's gonna play very similar to a pga style. Golf course than he is mr pga tour and you know now. He's even mixing in a little bit of major championship success He would not be lock in my in. You know on my team. But i think he's got play good more golf for another two months. You know to be really strongly. Consider that team because we've seen how fast like somebody. We can your enthusiasm for a tony napkin. Fizzle out. because you just gotta take the golf. It's just it just comes down to that. So who you bump and then i think we can all agree like right. It's gotta be patrick. Can't lay that to me. That's the guy where it's like. I i don't know some about him at the end of the day. What i give from him. Never quite matches like where he is in the standings or his career to date the e leaves a little bit lacking for me. And i hate saying that because i want him to be a total killer. Gosh i wish. I'd known seen those rankings. When compared him to fourth on the strokes gain list. I wish i'd seen the big randy rankings. Just didn't like that. You didn't like that. He was the bath in the world of getting the ball in the hole. I didn't know you didn't like how he did it because he didn't win enough if he didn't win. Lawyer rico the win thing the bottom line bottom line. I take it away. I don't need them randy. Once the thirty for thirty the the the miami team he wants the u he wants. He's wants like big personalities. Just big bad american flare you wants. He wants to take your outlier and put you on the team based on that on a selective basis of you in this week but i i can ignore these five bad weeks you had. I just like this one. Good week you have put you on the team and if you do good and other five weeks and you're a great player doesn't matter to me that's not here that's kind of it. I'm out here. Mining and what we're gonna curse her up for can't lay all year and i wanna see it i feel like he's crowned a little bit these rankings by the wind memorial a solid. Here you because. I feel same way that he's he. I think he is a killer and i want him on the squad. But the rams deal breaking throws out the win like they. I mean rahm was digging crowd got crowned he wanna term because rahm got kicked out he says gain works though like he's still getting the ball in the hole in the same rate regardless of whether john rama's there. Yeah i know. But it's kinda like zander a little bit where it's like your a Just so consistently in the top twenty top ten top five and then but not breaking through with a you know defining win in a while. 'cause i wouldn't call memorial a defining win because you know the guy that was up by six couldn't finish tournament and if there was a correlation of any kind showed the amount of times you win on the pga tour and and your success in match play and ryder cup. If there is any of that i could subscribe to that but tiger woods is a losing record in the ryder cup and as one one more strokeplay events than than anyone. So i i go back to. I want to stand up for. This is the end of the day. This is an entertainment event. An it's an exhibition. And i. i think it's a disservice to fans to not bring the biggest and best personalities especially when they've won a major this year and like species species. Absolutely lock speed speed. Could miss every cut now until the ryder cup. An says yeah. How can we make it more like the dream team. You know this. They need to have like usa basketball gets together for you know practice and summer summer workouts and they need to make with you a little bit more of a spectacle instead of this like two years of rankings. And i don't know could i. I'm i'm way way in on all captains picks. Let's start there. I think that's a that's an easy winter. Maybe i think. I think that's bipartisan. I think we can get everybody to agree on that. So you're you're taking can't lay out in putting fill in still ignoring zell. Taurus ignore them put. Let's put towards. And i got a lotta guys carve out female has no chance. Can't lay your gone sorry Honestly burger doesn't do much for me. Neil i would have ridden for your original take. He doesn't need to come I actually kinda like it's weird webs webs that energy out there yes so let's brings out tourist hell. I'm ready to bring matthew wolf another good showing between now and september. Let's bring him. I'll even guy max. Oh well let's give them some reps put them in the spotlight sink or swim. Time shares on the list guy plays hard. That's a solid ones like high floor. Boring oh.

"But the next four names on the board, um which we can get into a little bit later here, I think are very interesting. The second last group that are one back you have stays in. And Matthew Wolf Wolf very much struggled this year, even said he had to take some time off for some mental health awareness or some mental health issues that he was having. Says he wants to be open about it to see if you know if people are struggling with it. We know that's a topic in the world these days. He and who stays and we'll be together. How just steady as Louis who stays in these majors, he just He's around. Now. He's only won one major in his career. But and he puts himself in a position quite a bit here that we're seeing horses for courses. He's got the game for major championships. It seems like and like you said, You don't see him all year and then the majors pop up and there's Louis Oosthuizen and two monster names. Bubba Watson, The two time Masters champion, is to back at three under. And the Vegas favorite coming in this week. The betting favorite was Jon Rahm. He's at three under par yesterday, the around the holes that I saw of rum. The amount of up and down that he was able to do around the green to save powers and keep his round going was pretty impressive. Yeah, and it's good to see him playing well, You know, it's I feel like he's struggled in early rounds in the majors lately and just hasn't given number chance. Now he's got himself. He's in a position where he's close to the lead. He he has a really good chance. He has been playing good. He's got to have a lot of momentum right now. Getting up and down. Saving powers is just probably the best feeling in the world. And if he just hits a few closer, he I think he puts beautifully, so it and he's got the game, you know, and he's got the mental side so it'll be. It'll be fun to watch him for the next 36 holes. This your last three groups are Watson and Rama 4 13 Eastern. Wolf, the new stays and four under power at 4 24 Eastern and then Henley and Bland in the last group at 4 35, eastern NBC with the television today.
