This is actually light to cultivate the practices that allow you to slow down time and discern what really matters rather than trying to take it all in and keep up with everything you will the bandwidth we definitely. We would definitely some universally agreed on governor or sifter or or a drain to sift out a lot of needless frequencies or the did the non-constructive frequencies to make room for clear channel for the stuff that matters. South Africa Brazil and the United States have so far taken part in the trial. No Work? No pay no food coronavirus lockdowns have forced many people all over the world to wonder where their next meal's will come from according to Matthew True. Scott Oxfam International's head of Humanitarian Policy About one hundred and twenty one million people have been pushed to the edge of starvation. This year not of course is across the main hotspots you would expect Yemen Democratic Republic of Congo of Gunston Venezuela, south. Sudan we're also seeing hunger coming up in otherwise middle income or developing countries. India South Africa Brazil CETERA. Look at a situation in the world where you have about sixty sixty, one percent working in the informal economy when that denied that daily income forced to stay at home they no longer get that income and that forces them into some of the negative coping strategies and that's what makes this crisis so unique. People. Couldn't travel to work which meant they couldn't make money and they couldn't buy food but this isn't just a short term problem. Is it Yeah and it has sort of long term impacts where, for instance, if you take people who are living day to day selling milk, if they can't sell milk for a few days, it gets point whether then have to do something to have food and income then have to sell their means of income. So selling the cow which had been providing them and then conquered back to generate income and same happens instead of urban areas where people who had been, for instance, taxi drivers after. So long of not being able to take fares and give taxi rights eventually then have to start selling off assets to cope and that's where we're really. Seeing potential long-term structural breakdown, and as you say, this is a problem that existed before the pandemic. So how do we tackle it this time around does it require new solutions? It does with sort of proposing three solutions. The I of course is that we need to increase humanitarian aid drastically the U. N. Global Humanitarian Appeal has called for about ten point, three billion dollars in humanitarian aid. But only about twenty, four percent of that is funded. So less than a quarter, the second thing that we can do is cancelled some of the debt that could free up up to a trillion dollars, and then of course, the final thing is. Exactly, as you say, we do need to change how system works. We need to build a more fair and more robust food system. We need to build a system that's ready to deal with the climate shocks that's able to produce sustainable food. One that supports a small-scale Farmers Informal Workers, Matthew Scott head of humanitarian policy at Oxfam International. Thanks for your time..

"Don't think the government has a right to take my income just because they want to but it's very prudent for me. Just obey that one. You know you know what I mean. I don't WanNa I. DON'T WANNA end up in prison but there are certain things that the government had would ask me to do that. I would have to say, no, you know what I mean and So we all have to have those conversations with ourselves, but also yet police definitely need to do it because they're. They're the ones that are going to be the ones that are going to be sent to your house because you posted a a mean medium, you know what? I mean. Yeah. Ironically. The same people that are defunding you and telling you not to enforce real crime we're going to be sending you to enforce things aren't crime. And in fact, are making you the lawless one. So yeah, you gotTa make a stand man I mean. Especially, a lot of our law enforcement Let's see. Okay we have I think someone from Australia said Australians are legal subjects of government citizenship is something we take for granted maybe American? But yeah, that's a good point. They're all a royal subjects, right? and I to me that just yeah, that's such a talent thing that I don't want to bury and I know I'm I'm not trying to put my country above my religion or you know above Christianity or would write Bible or Gospel or whatever. But God gave us in our time even now some talents of freedom and rights that are recognized not that third rights only to us but that recognize and not fighting for those is burying them in the ground rare. We will get treated like this and have been started to treated like this. Daniel talks about the cruise ship. That's the same kind of idea. Yes. No you're. So you're so right and I think. A lot of people would say. Yeah but that you know you have to be a Christian I am in a in a an American second. So you're saying you gotta go by the Constitution and it's like, but the thing is though that like The constitution was was written and thought of in such a way to be based on what the Bible said the government was supposed to do, and so our argument isn't that Okay God says I should obey. The government has unlimited authority and I should obey everything that they say unless they tell me to sin or something but I'm not going to do it because he constitution says not to do it. No, that's not that's not the argument. The argument the the argument is that conception of disobey until they tell you to sin is too simplistic. It's helpful in some ways it's helpful probably more for children to understand it, but it's way too simplistic. Yeah the Bible is never that way and you're gonNA put Jesus in really bad situations because he did that very thing like it wasn't sinned for him not to go to Samaria but it was still what God wanted him to do. He said he must go through Samaria but like if he was obeying the culture, no, obeying the religious leaders of the the government at the time they said don't go. It's unclean. You're going to be dirty. You're going to be ceremony on clean, right? He did it anyways and it wouldn't have been sin quote unquote if you didn't go except that. Yeah that's what God asked him to do. Definitely definitely and so There's a really good book by Matt Matthew True. Ella. that explains this this whole doctrine about civil disobedience, civil government stuff like that. And he's I've listened to him speak on it a number of times and he's very he's very good at this kind of thing and again it's it's definitely for everybody. It's for us you and meet you even though we're not you know in the government, it's for us to but Christians especially. Christian police officers. there's a lot of really good ones out there that really need to think about this the really do because. You, know again, I I WANNA believe that it would be different in America. But I'm not convinced of that. I mean I'm not convinced that it would be right I think most cops would just enforce anything. I told you. It's so funny I growing up, and maybe this is just a childhood bubble that I lived in or some kind of false security in America itself. But there are so many things that I read in history that now that never happened in America No, our army would never institute martial law on us an institute things that we've seen in the past. No, the police would never arrest us for things that are against the constitution and all that stuff I'm really at a point now where it's like Oh yeah I see how that all happens Oh yeah. I see how the Jews got rounded up in Germany, and I see how a whole ethnic group got rounded up and killed like. I don't there's not a far leap anymore to any of those things in my mind from what we've seen with the public with the writing being allowed with the police standing down. Yes. It's crazy. It's like a real surreal moment for me where there's no like childhood innocence anymore that. That Sin Nature is GonNa be contained by the government. Not at all. Yeah. I mean it's it's very difficult to see how it would be in any way at this point I mean. I think you said it perfectly. I it was. Interesting I think thinking about my role more got called out by one of my listeners, how to build a tent and it was a great thing. I loved it I was. I was talking about the story I went to get my hair did with stacks I. got this week on my ass stock exchange. Before, today at crashed. Thanks Dr for that. And I was going I was telling a story about how mad I was getting about how the government rules were foreseen people to have conflict and confrontation. They both agreed I was having a conflict and confrontation. Going, to wear masks, the store owner wanted to stay in business and wanted me to wear masks but they didn't even want wear masks. They hated the idea of it, and so there was a conflict between two citizens right when we agreed the only the government could pull that. That's true and I was using my health exemption. I'm not wearing one because I have a health exemption. I, think it connect a collects bacteria, lowers my pulse ox, the oxygen level, my blood ital-. I don't want that stuff I don't want that stuff to happen to me and I don't want to actually get sick from it and someone challenged me on as like you need. You shouldn't use that and look for the loopholes but you should be educating people on really why you're opposing it that it is unjust that it isn't their place and I was like man you're so right? That's. On my goal was to just get outta wearing the mask yet. Again, going back to what I think our role can be even though we're not in law enforcement is educating people like this because we have to make up for what the church is not done in a long time is preached these principles and preached the word of God says these things in what roles fears are, and so we can't just. Leave it up for the pastors to change because that's going to be too late and I, think as us be knowledgeable need to have those conversations the hey, I don't WanNa wear one because unjust and let me tell you why in like beep cheerful about it'd be joyful. Don't be hostile because we need people to do that to re educate people because there's a there's ignorance throughout the country I think. Good stuff man now that sounds like you have some good listeners. I know. I love being corrected in. That's like one of my favorite things about podcasting There's so much like direct feedback you get. It's great and then you get also the you know the people that are..

"From baseball prospectus it is matthew true blood was that matthew thanks for joining us tonight Doing. Well, how are you? Well, first of all, your thoughts. on this tampa bay montreal thing we're evidently they can have a split home schedule at least that's the idea maybe cup in a couple of years and i guess the players are going to have to buy homes in two different cities and and if you're gonna split home games do you think this is just talk oh will it is there a possibility of this ever happening Absolutely no chance. But it's going to happen. the joke running around baseball quitter is the rays have been fighting for years now to get one stadium built the league failed to get another one built in montreal over a decade ago their new plan to be let's get them to build up both and there's just no chance of it well one of the the raise owners build their own stadium they can get this thing done real quick good if they paid for it themselves yeah you'll find that pretty much anywhere you go in professional sports but especially in baseball because they've had so much success over the years at avoiding paying those hundreds of millions of dollars owner pretty foil and don't have any interest in doing that boy how about the home runs again this year the yankees said it all time record for home runs in season we have an all time record at all of this ball last year it looks like they'll both be shattered this year maybe the minnesota twins completely shattering that yankees record what do you think the uptick in home runs about the players jews the ball's juiced bad pitching maybe the the the analytics baseball now guy swinging uppercut swings and trying to get the ball on the more than they used to what is it primarily the baseball there is something to the idea of analytics and hitters doing more damage thinking about getting the ball in the air pitchers who are pitching for strikeout and not necessarily pitching the week contact the way many pitchers used to they're trying to strike out and if they make a mistake batters geared up making a very long way but the big story is the baseball and new information rolled out today on the talking about the centering of the core and the cork rubber pill and the ball the width and height of the female on the ball all of these things are adding up to make an extremely aero-dynamics ball flies like non we've ever seen before i know you follow this closely and you're running baseball prospectus did you see this coming with the twins this year fifty and twenty-seven shattering the all time home run record banding here in the bowels of target field having watched the twins beat the race tonight and i have to tell you i don't think anyone exactly this coming i can proudly say i did pick the twins to win the division before the year began but if you'd have to me if i thought they'd be on pace for one hundred wind halfway point of this eason easy answer is no they've been surprising on both the offense of anti -fensive side they made a lot of changes really modernize their operation in terms of coaching staff pitching plan and then these guys that you mentioned are getting the ball in the air with thority more regularly than any team we've ever seen you know every time i watch bryce harper hit he's got a beautiful compact swing and the ball just jumps off his bat when he hits it and Over the last two years. He should be a lot better than two fifty hitter. What is the problem with him? good question and it certainly is frustrating defeat them with credits talent who's prone to such i think the trick is that while the swing does look somewhat compact and you've got that too ended finish a lot of violence there he really gears it up and a piece fool he's going to swing and metalized as a result he's honed in approach where he attacked early in the count tries to find the fastball pitchers don't wanna throw him and hit the first one that comes his way when that's not working it gets ugly in a hurry that's also why you see them go on streets that hardly any other hitter in the league can match just the shift hurt him i mean every time he comes up to the bad it seems like all mine defenders are over there on the right side and it cost him a lot i remember i was watching the game last year and he hit just like two or three bullets and they would've all been base hits normally to ground balls into the hole that would have been singles and then he hit rocket out to right center right outfielder who was positioned over there and i just said to myself but i just don't want to buy a ticket to pay to see this when guys are hitting the ball right on the screws making out because of this shift think you know there was some talk about maybe eliminating shift a major league baseball you think that could ever happen i think it could happen i don't expect it will i think that's one of those things where the game volved in certain direction until it reaches the natural tipping point and then you might see it evolve back the other direction you're going to see hitter start more effectively neutralizing shifts in the approach they take at the plate and there are other changes that might happen just in the sort of really wide angle baseball that could lessen the effectiveness of the shift in harper's case yeah it's eating him up a little bit over the years and then keep made mental adjustment i've been able to attack without sort of thinking about the shift that and get his hits where they come lately and his problems are more in the rain realm of a low contact rate than hitting a lot of balls into the shift at this point but certainly she league wide love i love that that column on your twitter handle m m a true blood at trueblue is twitter handle for baseball perspective as well about the manager of of the gary south shore rat cats rat cats rayle cat real rail cavs greg taggart going back to the old days of the four man starting rotation and and and you know throwing a majority fastballs and limiting the breaking balls my pitchers and get into the old school for man rotation stuff that's interesting Yeah, it is. And Greg is an interesting character, one of those really colorful baseball, lifer sense. it was great fun to talk to him and sort of hear about his perspective on that even knowledge that where a while he's been doing this for fifteen pushing twenty years in independent baseball and he's had a lot of success getting pitchers to buy in that's getting harder and harder because we know that the infrastructure of the game not just at the major league or minor league level but all the way down into amateur rank is becoming more and more technologically mood you know there's more and more similarity in the way everyone does things and different or old fashioned things are looked at looked at it scans more than ever but taggart holding on and it makes for a really interesting profit what is going to happen with the mets here we're gonna see a change in the managerial position and a change maybe with the general manager after after the fighting with reporters this week and and then the pitcher coming up threatening physical violence on the reporter into manager calloway really not making much of an apology if he made an apology at all the other day yeah it it's ugly and it's hard to imagine it going on much longer or it would be if at the met they are persistently they've been a circus for as long as well this did there have been blitz where they were successful on the field but even in those years tended to be utterly unnecessary off-field distraction mixed in well point you have a general manager who is eventually undermining his manager by texting instructions to staffers in the clubhouse to sort of manage the came from home once you cross that line it's hard to feel like firing the manager does anything and the owners wilpon are not going to admit their mistake so early and fire brodie van wagon it feels like not much it's going to change until the mets have new ownership well it's van wagon making the calls from the press box we were reading this week and and ordering ordering in game decisions to his manager i like joshi and blind on twitter when he mentioned that maybe it was just van wagon boldly trying to do at second job that he had no experience or qualification for this is a guy who just came over from being a player agent this past winter to take the job as mets g._m. in part because the wilpon love to be different and in part because they were having a hard time finding someone who wanted all the headaches that come with being halfway in charge of the mets found bandwagon he's still has a foot sort of in both camps and apparently also to be a manager and you add it all up and it just headed.

"Apparently, he's battling a cold or something is what I hear old age. Reporters, pretty subpar Donahue. Tony. I love just give me great. Yeah. So the one egg game was good. Like, Jon said, we you have Fort Wayne Blackhawk who's been number one all year, and they showed why here this morning and able to pick up their first state championship in program history. And then the two game same thing. The three teams three schools three cities, celebrating their first ever, boys basketball championship. It was also, and I will tell you one in terms of the two three or four games was well played a lot of championship. That was that was great basketball. Well, that's really great basketball haven Fort Wayne Blackhawk winning by seventeen how many times have you seen Bahrain do that to other team? Right. And you knew it was gonna take a special effort of whoever Bari was playing to beat them in for Black Hawk to do that with something. I just said this since all year long doing the show that it was a really neat year of basketball in our state. I don't I don't know. I just you know, the gauge I have is the number of people who call the excitement with which they talk about the games, you just, you know, you get a sense of how things aren't as you know, with one. I do I don't get a chance to see a lot of games. And and so, you know, I gauge it on on the people who call in the social media in in all those things I just had this since all year long that it was really a fun year basketball because with the. Exception of Blackhawk Christian the two eight three four eight championships for the entire year been wide open. Yeah. They really, you know, Carmel was you know, one or two most of the year, but still you're a lot of really good teams in four a in central Indiana. And you thought, you know, they may have a tough time getting back, but I thought for the most part it was a really fun basketball year. And I feel like almost every week here on Friday nights. And I was going to say I feel like you are always whenever you're talking to a coach or a media member that calls into the show all battle all season long. We were talking about how you always hear out attendance is down throughout the entire regular season. The entire postseason, especially today bankers. I field house. I mean, those those seats packed. It was a great crowd. We had that no matter. What gym you're around the state? It's it's it was a great basketball. You see I'm not gonna argue on Tuesday night in some of the metropolitan areas in the state of Indiana. They're probably aren't big crowds for voice basketball, going to argue that absolutely. Don't argue that but monta March in our state still pretty special. I don't care out. Okay. And I will tell you what from the sectionals to the regionals in the semi state. You can't get a ticket for those six. You can't on most of the state. You cannot their jam packed especially if you move in as regional in a similar state ram. Good luck trying to get a. A ticket unless you're right there early in life. I was Lawrence north and then Southport, and then Washington every single one of those gyms is extremely packed all week long. It's hard to to move your way around there. There was so many people. I also think there were so many great individual players. I saw this year. Trace Jackson Davis from Senator grove John Jones. Jalen Wyndham from Ben Davis. Right. John Michael Malloy from Carmel, and then a guy like bumbler who I saw score fifty one. From newcastle. Great individual players that. I'll remember. But also some really good teams along the way also a team like new Palestine who made it to regionals? They Maximus Kizzie Matthew true. Just some really really talented individual players that I saw many high school basketball teams across Indiana, two minutes. Talk about your the rob connett brackets. I let him down. I didn't feel. Did you did yoga? Yeah. Johnson. It. Crib producer, Chris. He's he's as well. Smart guy. He is he is in looking at today. Most of the favorite teams, John pretty pretty cheap. Pretty chalky today Alice in Michigan and Purdue we were we were getting updates while. We were at bankers life Fieldhouse right about Purdue being up by thirty two at one point against Villanova knocking out the the national champion. So if you went with the favorites in your bracket to make it to the Sweet Sixteen today was a pretty good day like John CEOs breed chalky where the higher seeded teams one. I gave the day was incredible Maryland LSU by LSU about a big time shot clip. Yeah. And then, of course, Purdue is the story statewide Carson Edwards is just on forty two point out tonight guard that guy. It's not like he's should make scouting report. Needs them to score. I don't I don't know Villanova knew that though. So it'll it'll be it'll be fun to see tomorrow if Tennessee can win because then you'll have a Tennessee produce Sweet Sixteen matchup, which will be really good. Absolutely. I'll be in Hanover watching the Panthers play lacrosse go h c Wheeler goes for. He is the announcer for opening night ceremonies on the campus wide wiffle ball tournament. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Brother by we we need a carpool and go down there this year. It's sponsored by the land. Aci, my grandsons and Lambda Chi, and oh, my it would hasten it's it's campus wide, and it's the biggest thing going on. Is all day. All we it's. Stop gain. And do a little bit of studying, but. We're gonna play gentlemen. Frank..

"Number two more in central has got to be the favorite twenty two and three just they were so incredibly impressive last week in the sectional Lawrence north dominating north central Friday night. And then beating a very good Warren central team who is a defending state champion, sixty seven fifty two Nigel pack is just unreal. Five points in that game hit five threes. And then they got Gray Davis who scored sixteen and they're in their number two in the state number one in the ratings. So they've been doing it against a very very tough schedule. But what intrigues me Bob is that they're going to play Ben Davis in the second after new pal plays Avon? And you know, Ben Davis is a scary team. Even though they're seventeen they still come from the mic. They play a tough schedule every year. And you know, I was kind of talking about this with Kyle med rip the Indianapolis star. You know, I if Jalen Wyndham can start knocking down shots for Ben Davis. They can just about beat anybody their top. So that's going to be a very interesting game. Because Ben Davis always makes a lot of noise in this regional no matter who they play. So that matchup should be very interesting. And then on the other side new Palestine Chattan outstanding year, they've always kind of had a tough time getting through that sectional. At richmond. They blade breezed absolutely breezed through it this year, they were incredibly impressive with wins over greenfield central connersville and mount Vernon and won their H sectional title. But it was their first one since two thousand twelve so they they've really made some great strides this year, they've got some excellent shooters and Maximus gives the and Matthew true. And they can really I mean, they can get out and score on just about anybody. And then you've got Avon playing in their third regional, and of course, I bring up a sore point with you, Bob, but they did have that incredible win over the. Well, now, they're they're playing. Well, they they they really are. And that's why I think this like most of the regionals, I think it's very interesting. I think the point you made about Lawrence central look, talent wise, they're scary. And and they defend you got balanced scoring been Davis has been playing as well as anyone in the state in four a in the last month. Clearly, I think people look at one of the winner of that game as being the favourite in the regional. But again, you're playing that second game, you expend a lot of energy emotionally and physically. That's why regionals are. So interesting. Yeah. There's one guy to for Avon that kind of scares me also names Mason Miller, he was seven of eleven from three point range of one of their games in the sectional round. There just seems to be when I mean, I've I've seen a couple of these teams in person and the other ones I've I've seen Lawrence central and new union person. I've read a lot about Ben Davidson Avon there just seemed to be a lot of shooters. I mean, I'm going to go and watch the two morning games. Tomorrow to get ready for the eight o'clock game with that I'll have with Tony Donahue. And we're going to have great final. I know that. But there just seemed to be a lot of shooters and whoever can get hot in that in that Jim is really gonna is really gonna make a big difference. And that's it's not always easy to to shoot. Well in that, Jim. But I think if you can if you can start knocking down shots, you've you've got a great chance to win. And it's going to be a packed house in the great atmosphere is it is every year at Southport at that regional he will be fun. I don't think there's any doubt. And I think you know. The big thing is again, as you you talk about it's different place. If you haven't played their it's an imposing place, and how you handle the elements. How you handle the thousands of people goes a long way in determining whether you're gonna win a game. Yeah. I also think to this is sort of unreal. A you know, it's sort of out of the normal routine. That you go through don't you think Bob because playing a lot of? Ten o'clock in the morning on a Saturday. I mean unless you're in a tournament, but you don't write that very often. So I kind of I'm kind of interested to see how these kids in the early games. Are they all handle what what is a little bit of curves balm and having to come back and play, you know, later on later on that evening. So that was kind of a factor in this regional last year. I think some some players when I went to this regional tell got a little nervous they had some they had some jitters about them. But whichever team like you said can handle the pressure and doesn't seem to be bothered by that. We'll we'll go on and then win. But I I think boy, I don't know it just felt to me like. Warren central beat pretty bad by Lawrence central last week that felt a little bit like a changing of the guard. But again still a long way for central to prove it, and they got a long way to go. But I think they've got a great chance to do it. And they they've definitely got to be the favorite in the regional. But all three of the other teams new pal.

"Game four tonight. One of the many entities. I go out with Bob. This is for new Powell radio. Yup. Great Andrew Smith was had Indy fuel happy duty tonight. So I filled in for him on new pal radio and the dragons were dominant. They got a bit of a slow start in the first half against the Yorktown team. It's been struggling, but then big thirteen run by them at the end of the first half. And they ended up going up forty two twenty four at the end of the half time. And then they end up outscoring Yorktown nineteen to one in the third quarter and just just blew the doors off from there. And then the great thing about it was every far city kid got to play tonight. So just a good all round special night for him. All right. So tell me who steps up place. Well, gimme all that. Good stuff. Well, you know for new pal it's been about the guard play gives you Matthew true true had twenty had four threes in the second quarter alone. And then Maximus gives you another big night for him seventeen points and Kyle king in the post. He's only averaging three point two game. But he ended up with. Eleven he was getting he was just all over the place getting offense rebound put backs, and they were very, very well balanced. And they they normally give up around sixty points a game. I'm sure the coaching staff was thrilled. But they only gave up forty one points tonight after that big that tough wash that had Monday Franklin. This was a nice bounce back performance. They had tonight and they get a turn around and play rush Bill tomorrow night. But they get to do it at home. So back to back games forum at home on Friday and Saturday, right? You working tomorrow you're gonna day off. I I am working. I'm all for nine star. Tv I'll be doing Newcastle against Carmel. So I get to see the great Lou fumble. "Boy, girl double header, John. Thanks so much for the call. Tell me what's happening with these two real strong rivals tonight. Well tonight in the first game, the new pal girls kind of got off to a slow start. They were coming off a loss to try and central. But then they outscored Pendleton heights in the second quarter seventeen to four they led by eight at the half. And then they broke the game open in the second half went on to win by twelve. So now, they're seventeen to they came into this game ranked fifteenth in class four a so they look pretty they look like, they're maybe poised for a playoff run, and, you know, the Pendleton heights girls still still ten and eight lot lots of time to get things corrected before sexual play. And you know, they they did give new pal? Good run for their money. You know, before new Pahlavi pulled away the boys game was extremely fun to call because you know, the new Cowboys get up nineteen to five in the first quarter. Pendleton heights comes storming back believe the Ford have even takes the lead to different times in the third quarter. But Maximus gives you and Matthew. True for the new pal dragons just would not let their team lose true had twenty two points Maximus gives he had twenty. And then they got also a big night out of Dylan role mind one of their post players who scored eight points. And then Dawson Easter scored ten so they're bigs played really well against the big Pendleton heights and losing effort, Damian warm. Look great, yet, sixteen points for penalties and interest in rods at eighteen those are two good post kids that that new Powell's able to hold off. So the dragons go go to tonight girls and boys both win. Right. So the lady dragons are going to be anxiously awaiting their fate in the tournament. When we do the pair next Sunday. Are they not in playing awfully awfully well, yeah. And they have always they the other loss. They had this year. I believe was two more north. And after they lost that game. They ran block twelve wins in a row. And then of course, they lost responded. Well, so they've all. Always responded well after a loss, and they've got this one girl who plays in the post possessions, name's Leah side. And she's a five eleven senior forward and she had seventeen points tonight. This this team has good size. You know for girls have really good really good post step between her and Jordan Reed. Who's also five ten, you know, finding girls that are that tall as you probably noticed, Bob. It's kind of rare you can get a girl like that in high school. It's up near six feet. So they're hiding their speed in the back court. Make them a pretty tough out for anybody sell seventeen and two. That's that's pretty good record very impressive from nine star. Tv John Herrick on these Saint Vincent sports formats online Pendleton heights in new pound new pal and winning the boy girl header tonight. John thanks for the call him a great weekend. You do the same. Bob. Thanks coming up. More basketball, more basketball on network, Indiana. Specialization by high school.

Got everybody back this year and we play ugly basketball. We want to one over Peru. Tuesday night, kind of an ugly win tonight. We just couldn't go to throw it in the ocean. The first half got down thirteen and fall back to within six at halftime and got into right away in the third. They pushed it back to the nine point. We we got him on three straight possessions quarter down one. We couldn't take the lead. Finally, tied it up under a minute to go. They went right down and made a layup. We just broke down defense. We'll come back down on the floor and took a time out with seven seconds left. Had the ball underneath our basket. And I just wasn't sure we could beat him in overtime. So. Kids favorites? The three at the buzzer. Listen to your kids coach. That's what I would tell you to do. It took me a while to figure it out. John Herrick joins me on the Saint Vincent sports performance hotline, new Powell radio you Palestine eighty four fifty nine winners over Newcastle. John thanks so much for the call an impressive win for new path. I was Bob by this is a game. That was actually pretty close in the first half Newcastle. Laterally nine to six and then. New Powell went on a nine zero run the lead by six at the end of the first quarter lead by seven at halftime. And then where the game really broke out in their favor. They scored the first fourteen points of the third quarter. And just really turned the game into a runaway. Newcastle was down one of their key players. Mason Gillis who's going to produce next year. He's out with an injury. And so really all the pressure was hooked bumble lo who's going to ball state. He had to do everything he could. And he scored twenty eight of their fifty nine that just wasn't enough. I mean, you know, new Palestine was just very very well balanced tonight. And once they put their foot on the gas to start the second half. It was just too much who plays well for new Newtown. Well, Dawson Isa's had twenty nine in the last game, it gets Westfield before an item. And he followed it up with another big performance in this game. He scored twenty two. And then they're waiting scorer from last year who who's back to lead them in scoring this year. Maximus busy another big outing for him. He had nineteen Matthew true had seventeen. So it was just all just a really good night for them. Dylan Rome, fourteen as well. Use the other key starter for them played. Well, so they just they just got a lot of big contributions from everybody. So it was another quality win for them. John Herrick new Palestine over Newcastle. Eighty four fifty nine John. Great atmosphere both teams with high hopes this year, and for a while there lived up to the billing Jeffersonville athleticism all kind of makes a difference in the end and they pull away for the victory tonight. Jeff smarting from that loss last week to Carmel came back. They needed they needed to get back on track today. Not. Yeah. I think so when you look at their schedule and the competition they're gonna play throughout the year. Not a lot of easy nights off. So for them. It's got to be a satisfying win. They've got a lot of tremendous athlete the relatively young team. And really got it together. Hit a couple of back to back buckets to take the lead a half time. And then really put it on him in the third quarter and pulled away. All right. Let's talk about something important like. Hall of fame classic. It's coming up. It's come. I forgot Christmases right around the corner. So my wife's all over me about that. So Paul than I've created. But having said that if it's Christmas it must be time for the hall of fame classic. I don't want to act like I'm losing any sleep. But the girls tournament will be over two weeks from tonight. So yeah, it's coming rapidly. And we've got some very lineups looking forward to great teams at the new castle Fieldhouse. All right, twenty eighth and twenty nine girls on the twenty eight boys on the twenty ninth. I'm doing these games on TV. So I'm excited about it. So tell me about the match ups on the I always marvel at how you in the community can come up with great matchups every year year in year out you guys pick tremendous teams. Well, I don't know if I would love me in there. I think I probably you're in your credit than I deserved, but we are pretty excited about the lineup for the girls tournament. We've got. Three of the top eight teams in this week's poll. Our opening game is going to be number eight Bedford north Lawrence against number four. Northwestern. Wow. And our second game number one team in the state in girls basketball, the homesteads pardons. Take on really talented Jeffersonville team, man. Man. And then on the boy side, it doesn't get much better. We've got four of the top twelve teams in this week's sports Paul will open with number twelve Westview against number ten center growth, and then number one Warren central against number seven Valparaiso. So we've got the number one girls team the number one. Boy seems they come into Newcastle and on the twenty eighth and twenty ninth. Did I not say you guys pick great teams didn't I just say that? And if those are great lineups they've got great standout individual players, obviously tremendous head coaches leading all those programs, and so we hope for great crowds to see some of the best basketball in the state and to make a full weekend of it. Come to the museum there in Newcastle in between sessions. Come to the world's largest high school gymnasium and make it a true. Indiana basketball holiday is my stuff still in there. Absolutely. You've got to. What since you're a games? You can do an autograph signing. I don't think that's necessary. But oh my goodness. I forgot about that. I really I really did hang on here. Okay. 'cause we got we got we got to sell some tickets. So you got you gotta hang on. Okay. Sure. Thank Chris may not come back. You gotta go to the hall. You know, why you see the Quakers the championship nine hundred sixty nine the Quakers was we're hosting the trophy. Do you see that picture? You got a guy goes museum. It's there. And there's there these games too. By the way, we'll come back and talk about that on Indiana, sportstalk. Question when you walk into the boardrooms of the most successful companies here in Indiana, who do you meet.

"And all the people involved for doing the right thing and doing it the right way. Chuck, I appreciate the call take care. Okay. Thank you so much. John Herrick joins me from nine store. Tv new Palestine seventy five sixty five winners over greenfield, central John. Thanks for the call. Nice game. You had tonight. Yeah. I was pretty entertaining. Bob, you know, the very first game of the season for basketball for the new pal dragon boys and came out got a little little sluggish to start the game fell behind by ten at the end of the first quarter. But then they came back in the second quarter tied it up by halftime. And then they just had an onslaught in the second half ended up winning by ten and you know, you just you just feel bad. Greenfield central riot plays such a hard fought game and started off oh and two, but they're all in three. Now they've had to had to play three pretty tough teams to start the year. All right. So in this game till me hoops steps up and plays. Well, Maximus gives. You was the guy who lead all scores for new pal tied a career high twenty seven points and then Matthew true in the back court with him seventeen points. Those are the two guys that carried on and then Dylan role minus sixty senior the post was big for new Powell he had another double figure night thirteen point. So and then for greenfield central, you know, Caleb Mundell. And Brady by Dell both played well in the losing effort. But I think greenfield central is going to get better. They've just played some teams to start and new pals been in football mode for a while. Right. Finally got to get on the basketball courts. John Herrick the man himself fry can't wait to work with you in a couple of weeks for basketball. I saw that in Email. I could be the highlight of my career. I'm telling you. I don't know. I think it's going to be the highlight of my career. This. It's gonna be fun. I can't wait to work with John. Thanks so much have a great weekend YouTube. Thanks coach schoolwork update coming up on Indian a sports talk. Isn't it? Amazing the sacrifice that dedication the really set. An example, don't well. No question. Today's high school athletes are truly special not the athletes. The officials. Today's student athletes aren't true. Something pretty great about the men and women who will vitiate their games to like the way they're giving back to their communities officiating is a terrific way to stay in shape. Meet new people and stay connected to the game. But the biggest reason of all we need more qualified high school here in Indiana and without them the rest of us. Would have a whole.
