"Back together. Lou financiero and matthew. Holt back with us and i i know everybody wants to hear from lou given his phoenix suns given that he's located in the nba finals. But oh no we're talking. Ufc two sixty four conor mcgregor back in the octagon rubber match between him and dustin. Foyer and it's also return to the stadiums in the arenas in las vegas with fans this one at t. mobile so should be an awesome awesome atmosphere lou. I know you're excited for this fight. As well and matthew and i were just talking off air but nothing like a fight night in vegas. Yeah absolutely look fight nights in. Vegas have always dwarfed You know the handle dwarfs any anything other any other fight a and what we're going to see this week is a huge fight in vegas with a massive mainstream media. Appeal with two guys with big names. One of them the biggest name in the history of mixed martial arts and on top of that. It's a pickle fight. I think this thing could do handle that. We haven't seen since mcgregor and mayweather and lou. What do you. What do you make of this line moving. Obviously we're gonna talk about the fight. But connor has such a huge backing pretty much every fight. He sets the records with the gate. And you know pay per view buys but he's coming off a loss here and we know the betting public in any sport tends to remember what they last saw. But do you think the connor money will show up this weekend. I do and connor. Bunny always shows up and it always shows up late when the courts fill up with both poles of and airports full of irish droves. Coming into las vegas to converge on the fight scene so i do expect a little connor money between You know fridays away ins and the fight going off. That's when i think we're going to see it. I am a little surprised at is grown a little. But i think that's wiser people that are betting early perhaps to try and get the price and believe that his size and durability are gonna make it difficult for connor in just five months to alter the outcome of the fight. That happened in january. What do you think this closes right. Now are at minus a quarter and again sometimes. The public money doesn't move the money. It's the smart money right so maybe the the books will just hold their position and have a rooting interest so to speak. What do you think this closes in the fight. In january mcgregor opened minus one seventy five and he closed three. Oh five my looking for that kind of movement on this one. Maybe not. But i do believe connor could close minus one ten minus one twenty and we could see a closer to the mason dixon line. Yeah no it is fascinating and matt. I guess we'll start with you because i'm on connor. Choose me. I take that back. I'm on a look connors. Great legendary career. think boy. I just trust the match up more. And i just don't know what mcgregor's done between now and the last fight that i just feel as more durable now conner had a different approach and more calm non edgy one. And he's vowed to. Come back to the edgy. Edginess if you will have that to reach two inch reach advantage but still. I don't think it's enough for boy. I i like mcgregor here matthew. Where do you stand. He said it again. I like boy i apologize. I like a in a big way here too as well. And and i do think that lou brought up a good point though is that you might wanna wait because it feels like now all of a sudden as we've seen this line drift is high as poi- minus one thirty. That's probably the extent of how far left this thing's gonna go. It's pro the pendulum's probably going to swing back toward the middle. It's probably more likely to close toward a pick them. So if you didn't get poi- at a pickle or better already than you probably should wait till friday or saturday if you shop around. They're certainly going to be some books. That have some big mcgregor liability where you can get some poi- a back at pick them. But i really liked. Dustin pedroia in this match up in one of the big reasons is over the last three to five years. We've really seen the evolution of mega gyms in the ufc. These gyms that just bring in the best of the best trainers in the world in every single skill set there could be and does we've seen the evolution of fighters that more than ever. These fighters are so diversified now in submissions. You jitsu moi tied. Boxing kickboxing wrestling. And you have to be full fighter in order to compete with the best in the world right now in connor's always trained as fiji ireland. Let's face it sb. G not exactly known for putting out champion after champion. They're a little one dimensional in their approach. A lot of the fighters from sb g. actually they got opportunities in the ufc. G got those opportunities. Just because they trained with conor mcgregor but at the end of the day we saw something as simple as conor. Mcgregor didn't know how to handle half kicks calf kicks or a staple in 'em now i mean that is that's the new jab. That's the new body punch and mma. Is cath kicks. And he looked completely oblivious. Of how do i deal with these calf kicks in the first fight. That's something that's very routine now. That the best gyms in the world train day in day out on how to check these how to counteract a kicks coming from an opponent. I just feel like connor between all the money. He's made the time off the the fact that he hasn't been draining. Mma consistently over the five years the amount of time in between fights. He hasn't had that advantage of going to elevation fight team or something training with the best. Most diverse set trainers in the world and continuing to evolve as a fighter. Conor mcgregor is one of the greatest strikers we've ever seen in the ufc in his left hand is still deadly. Any landed several in the first fight so he certainly has a punchers chance. But we haven't seen from conor mcgregor. Is that evolution as a fighter. And thus i think dustin pedroia gets it done again you know basically you articulated much better in exactly kind of what in my brain was processing right. One guy who's just more reliable. I think approach. I feel safer and more confident backing into this. Obviously mcgregor has highs. But you just don't know what you're getting with him. And that was certainly illustrated in the previous bow between the two. And that's why. I'm still citing with boy. I almost just don't trust my eyes anymore with mcgregor's brand name so to speak lou. How are you approaching this one. First of all. I thought that was excellent to break down by by matthew. And you just there. I pretty much agree with everything i think. At the end of the day we have to realize that as going to enter the octagon at one hundred and seventy six hundred seventy seven mcgregor going to enter the octagon at one hundred and sixty five hundred sixty six. You're talking about the. We talk about durability his size. Mcgregor in as i break down. This fight is gonna need to sell out early and use his speed movement kicking game to try and catch poi- at i think clearly the poi- camp realizes they need to take mcgregor deep. This is a large cage now. This isn't the apex advantage. The guy that wants to use the room. And i think that's point benefits from more room because in the in the fight i anticipate connor. Bringing a smaller cage would do better. Because he must engage any must engage quickly. He's a death powerful striker with that of canned at one forty five. But he's one in two in lightweight fights and against guys named play nor magomedov india's that left hand it had a little power but it didn't have the same effect that it did for the earlier connor so for all those reasons i'm leaning to poi- but not a this price right now. Gun to my head..

"Thank you baby into the game. You kind of your money. That's how you find out who better call my bets. were safe. That wouldn't be any juice. Juice point spreads the vets. The teasers the parlays from vegas to you these these behind the bat batsman welcome into another behind the best podcast. I'm doug his eerie and we are taking this on. Wednesday may twelfth the big holiday in the sport of football. We have the big schedule release. And you guys are checking out week one line so there's really plenty of content in on that in the coming months leading up to opening night in the nfl. But we're talking to sixty two coming up. This went on the road. Not in jacksonville. Like couple weeks ago but in houston said interesting main and co both in the lightweight division. We've matthew holt and loof mckerrow getting set to join us again. It's been awhile since we had them on. So it'll be good to connect on that front and We have a lot of place in fact over unders insides and the guys are pretty strong conviction on a couple sides at a really low money lines. All things considered so should be a good one. so let's get to it. The nba play tournament is happening. May eighteenth through the twenty first. It's a new exciting twist to determine who makes the playoffs in both conferences. The seven through ten place teams vying for the seventh and eighth spots. Some teams are currently playing to avoid the tournament. Others are desperately trying to get in the end of the regular season. The seven and eight place teams square off winner gets locked into the seventh seed. Loser plays the winner of the game between the ninth and tenth placed teams win that game clinches. The eighth seed. Espn radio and espn is your home for all the drama wednesday may nineteenth and friday may twenty first using the whole. It's not quite reuniting the beatles but it is good to get the band back together. Matthew holt and loof and a carro joining me here to preview. Ufc two sixty two on the road. They're back on the road after jacksonville couple of weeks. Go ahead the houston fellas good to be with you good to be with you excited to be back and what a car. We have to sort of get the band back together. And i'm fascinated by this in the loo start with you in the main event because it is extremely fascinating just given that you have veterans one of bela tor and one of the ufc. All of oliveras appeared in twenty eight. Ufc fights at the most in ufc history. And this belt is up for grabs with a new mogomedov. Vacating it and retiring from the sport so you have. Both guys are decorated in their respective sports. But you know. I know you guys do a great job of breaking down the bell tower circuit lou. How do you anticipate this playing out here. On the lightweight bout. That's only two and a half. I liked the under. That's just my lean there. Plus when thirty i do like under two and a half. I think both guys like to make quick work. But how do you see this fight coming out. I see it as a fascinating clash of styles you have the short stocky fire hydrant World class base wrestler with profuse power and explosion. Fighting a guy that's gonna be inches taller for years. Younger going to have a three inch. Reach advantage arms and legs handicap. Michael chandler is arriving to this fight with the beneficiary of a little bit of recency. Not only did he annihilate dan hunker but when you look into that fight hookers quarantine process for that fight was inhumane coupled with the fact that he fought a tear just a low. Iq fight backing up from chandler. Listen chandler has stopped opponents in seventeen of his fights. Thirteen those in the first round. So it's clear oliviera with his beeper body of work. He has fought the more competent level of opponent in my opinion and based on that I believe with the momentum that he arrives with and the more well rounded fight game that he's going to have to figure out how to navigate that first round and i think the way to do it is to bowl rush chandler just like chandler will bull rush him uses knees elbows and uppercuts a being aggressive and find this fight into the second round. I do like all of the era in the fight. He opened minus one fifty. He's now minus one. Twenty five or minus one thirty. And i think there's a proportional over under that correlates with oliveira and that's the over and i liked the over in the fight as well. Because i believe it's going to take all of the era a little time to chop down the michael chandler tree and i believe that michael chandler is going to help him because his cardio will wayne in that second and third round okay and matthew. Obviously you've you track the other circuits as well. This is you know obviously and also we should. We should mention elevators has gone back and forth between but not lightweight is where he's not in one in his last ten. Since two thousand seventeen. I really liked charles oliveira nothing against michael chandler in his resume. People always think of bela tor is less organization. And it certainly is a step down from. Ufc a giant. Step down we're talking about a guy who thought eddie alvarez twice the same alvarez who fought for the ufc lightweight title know. He's been in there with benson henderson twice the former u. of seed lightweight champion of the world so his level of competition isn't that bad for michael chandler stylistically. His fights are sort of a rinse and repeat over and over and over again super dangerous in the first round both with his lethal right hand and his takedown at wrestling tends to fade. Is the fight. Goes on and doesn't have a plan c. d. or e. His his right hand is always playing. A his wrestling is plan. B but there is no plan c. d. or e. normally for michael chandler. You know he's really really good at doing. A couple of things.

eddie alvarez Michael chandler ninth Matthew holt charles oliveira seventh alvarez thirty benson henderson Twenty five Thirteen jacksonville seventeen seven second round oliveira two and a half michael chandler first round third round

"Couple years older at twenty five. She's been in the ufc a lot longer. She's fought a lot. Stiffer competition including tyler. Santos macy barber courtney. Casey pollyanna patel who she beat. So i mean this. Young lady gillian robertson. Who's come up. Who fights at american top team one of the best gyms there is trains with some of the best fighters in the world. Both of these ladies have the exact same skill set except robertson's taller has a longer reach is going to be. The bigger fighter has more experience against top level competition. Oh yeah and she's the underdog gimme jillian robertson. All right you grabbed a better number. It's come down a little bit but still still dog in that fight to more plays to get their green by decision. Why are you getting greedy. But why trying to thread the needle here when it's a pretty fair price. All things considered on the money line. I been impressed with jim. Miller's ability is sustained damage at thirty seven years look. His path to victory is very obvious. Either latches up a submission in the first round. And i think his last four wins are all by first round submission for jim miller and he hasn't had a lot of wins lately. I think he's foreign aid. Is last twelve fights but all for those winds or by first round submission and when he doesn't get that first round submission he tends to lose the fight but he tends to lose them by decision if we go back to his last fight against vink from hell official in august of twenty twenty Shell hit jim miller wissam bombs. I mean he really unloaded on them on the feet throat the entirety of that fight. Jim miller not only was. He never like on the verge of being stopped. He seemed like you handle that damage. Really well his lost discount. Holzman went to decision in fact the majority of his losses. Some of them against really good strikers anthony perez francisco rinaldo dusted by the way all by decision at the end of the day. Jim miller's really durable but at thirty seven years old. He's proved that if he doesn't get that first round submission. His striking game just isn't up to the test in bobby green a really hard guide to submit. He hasn't been submitted since two thousand nine. Twelve years since bobby. Green is lost by submission. He's not getting submitted in this fight in his striking. Certainly to start to take over. So rather than li the minus two forty with bobby green you can lay minus one fifteen minus one twenty. That bobby green wins by the decision which is vastly the most predictable outcome of this right. Yeah my wires. Crossed i apologize. It is a not reasonable money fight. I thought it was for some reason. I was brain cramp there. So yeah minus two seventy. That would be the way to thread the needle i. I've been burned a lot with jyp fading. Jim miller i know he's thirty seven. I know all the reasons you mentioned. Yes i'm gonna have to think about that. One a little more because miller has been so impressive In that regard. And you're going to take a little bit of a flyer hernandez yeah you know. What's really interesting is sometimes guys get a bunch of momentum and we see this all the time. We're odds just are a little inflated whether rodolfo dolphin vieira should be the favorite or not probably not in question in this fight but the odds on both of these guys are at least the public perception on both of these guys has really changed and rodolfo. Vieira has no striking game yet. He's seven oh he's one of the greatest jiu jitsu practitioners in all of the world is nickname. Is the black belt hunter. For a reason. He loves submitting other brazilian. Jiu jitsu black belt but at the end of the day still a one-dimensional fighter and what's really interesting to me. Is you know if we were named like the five hottest middleweights on the planet right now. I think you and i would both agree that kevin holland is in that list chewed. Kevin holland was runner. Up for fighter of the year in twenty twenty going four and oh and twenty twenty with four really impressive wins in the middleweight division. While the win that started off that four note campaign for kevin holland at twenty twenty was a fight against anthony hernandez. And if you go back and look at the odds in that fight anthony. Hernandez was a minus twenty favorite over kevin holland. If rodolfo vieira and kevin holland fought right. Now everybody would recognize. The kevin hollered would be the favorite. He's a top five. Ranked fighter is one of the best middleweights in the world holland would be savored over vieira and he had hernandez was a favourite. Overhaul ended his last fight. Granted he lost that fight but we didn't really get to see that fight. Play out because thirty seconds into the fight kevin. Harlan lands a huge flying knee. Follows it up with a couple of hammer fists in the fight get stopped so we don't know if that fight wouldn't have got stopped by. I don't wanna say a fluke knocked out kind of a crazy at nowhere in our cal. In thirty seconds in anthony hernandez was post to win that fight against kevin harlan to you go from a favourite over kevin holland to a plus three dollar favourite against the guy who while maybe the best or one of the best in the world that his his particular craft. You jitsu does certainly doesn't have an all around game in the ufc. I just think if he can make it out of the first round stuff take down or two and get this fight into the second round with a guy who really doesn't add a stand up game anthony hernandez could get really live really fast at a really lucrative price. All right i like it. Good stuff as always Matthew i know our listeners appreciate it going to figure out a schedule moving forward now that we are post football season but it is always good to have the ufc. It's been such a rock solid Part of our betting lives especially last summer when things were so slow but to have your insight. And i know like i said everybody appreciates. It always a pleasure. Best of luck this weekend take care money. One is twice as sweet as money earned. Okay and thanks. To matthew holt. And thanks to john murray. What a season was and congratulations to the nfl. Every single game was played. Now some rescheduling for the first time ever the. Nfl had a regular season game on every day of the week. So that's monday does not in the same week but throughout the course of the seventeen weeks but challenges were presented and the nfl has met them in. You know same for the other sports. Obviously some games in the nba been postponed college hoops as well. But everyone's making do getting by and we are appreciative. A bad just a sports fans not just the bedding community but a sports fan. Thanks to everyone for listening. We're gonna figure out the schedule moving forward where you do plenty of basketball with nba. College has kind of figure out a way schedule that it all works but appreciate everyone's loyalty in excitement about this podcast and we're gonna have some fun stuff..

"His nine fights in the ufc. Didn't make it at around one and on the other side with practice. Now it's even worse. This is a guy who never makes it at around one. Seven of his last eight fights have failed to make it at around one and even worse for practice. Neo is. He's owen three in the nfc with three straight first round. Ko law says his chin isn't holding up he doesn't seem to be competitive at the ufc level and he's not even making it a couple of minutes and khalil. Roundtree is a kill or be killed in three minutes type of fighter. He goes out there and leaves it all on the line and either knocks you out or gets knocked out in the first three minutes. I actually dig. This fight is probably priced right because of the level of competition difference. Rowntree's been in there with the likes of johnny walker ion ho cooed. Alaba go can't sake paul craig. Tyson pedro era ganders. All big rank light heavyweights at the time. And he's won some in law some but the one thing that remains consistent is those fights in quick i think khalil rowntree's probably going to get a knockout here within the first two minutes rather than lay minus three hundred. Let's just go under one and a half rounds minus one fifty. Okay so Maybe some get some round props as well in there as we get closer to the weekend they get posted Maybe get a specific action there and get a little bit more. Pay out if you like the side as well my friend. Good to be back on the horse and should be a great card this weekend. Obviously the exciting main event with such intrigue around conor mcgregor and the unknown the unknown an expected right. That's the way to approach mcgregor. But we appreciate you getting on air in gives us in your thoughts. Thanks as always doug. It's a pleasure to be back happy new year. Everybody best of luck this weekend. Take care all right you got about. Nobody has ever bet enough on a winning horse. I really great stuff. Obviously the podcast that many of our listeners currently also know the dc no wani podcast but you are synonymous with ms. I wanted to get you on for a special occasion. Not just waste your presence on something because when conor mcgregor returns it's big waves. You want me to talk about the bills. My my beloved buffalo bills. I thought that's what this week. You told me. Were talking about the bills today. Do you like a plus the three two. I like them. I like them if they were a minus. Twenty one how. 'bout right bills mafia is so so pumped pumped as an understatement for this for twenty six years. I know you didn't have to talk about my bills fan. But i've been a fan since one thousand nine hundred ninety. I'm very excited. I just hope this can continue for two more games. Well that's about when the broke my heart a raider fan. When they went in got absolutely smoked was forty one to three hundred fifty three. If i remember Do quick question though. How tough is it going to be on sunday sunday now thinking saturday data. How tough was it last week. Saturday the time difference and everything worked out in your favor okay. So i was so nervous about this because first of all it was a really big weekend for anime because it was debut on. Abc right so that was a huge deal. And i thought for sure just given how the first week went that. The bills would get the first slot you know. They got the first slot against indy. And so i thought that we would get what was it the It would be the. I think it was four to seven no of four to seven something give or take a few and so i'm on the east coast here. Anti ohno the abc. The main event is going to go up against the bills. I i'm a nervous wreck when they're playing. This is horrible and luckily we got the eight o'clock slot so the the main event was done by six. I had some writing to do after. I was done by seven. Got changed put on thurman thomas jersey at front television and saw them beat down the baltimore. Ravens taryn johnson taken. It home pick-6 josh allen. Doing his thing. Yes was a little bit over hyped than you know. A couple overthrows here and there but they got the job done going to arrowhead. I cannot wait. And i am very very nervous for For sunday so it's gonna be a big weekend. Get through the connor fight. And then i'll be home watching on sunday afternoon. You should be nervous your bills fan. That's that's what comes with the territory. But i think fans are never saw in the story line so it should be fine. I like both teams. So i'm rooting. Can i ask or i don't know. Yeah yeah yeah no. I don't i don't know yet. I got think about the mahomes thing. But i i said someone asked me for the playoffs. What your super bowl. And i think packers bills. I do think really. You said that at the beginning of the playoffs. Not the season but okay offs. Because i just. I think there's a little off of this chiefs team. Oh my gosh like just another smart person and that gives me chills like the fact that the bills could be going to the super bowl gets a very good packers team blows my mind because as you know it's been a tough two decades so thank you. Yeah man no. I appreciate it. I think the bills are legit. They certainly are and obviously the the people on this podcast. No them the they were in five in the regular season tied for the best record against the spread so Surpassing expectations is what that means and then closed strong. Eight straight covers to close the regular season. So they're good. I mean josh. It's going to be interesting to see how the injury and all that applies at even if he does play like. I'm not optimistic. He plays really. I feel like this is all just a ruse. They're just trying to work with the concussion protocols interesting memory andy dalton now he got like nuked and then he didn't play the next game so it's gonna be interesting how it all pans out because the independent People who are like they have to pass all these the five step protocol so it's really unknown. What exactly is going to happen. And can i think that he's gonna play. I'm not right now for this. I would never root for that. We and i'll say we part of bills mafia. We wanna play. We wanna play the best team possible. I was rooting for the chiefs. I didn't want the browns. That was the easy way out. I want i want a healthy chief team and I want a healthy pat mahomes. Who by the way his father former reliever for my beloved montreal expos. i'm. I'm totally in the other direction. You really wanted me to talk about here. But i'm using this opportunity. 'cause they don't let me talk about sports any other time so yes. I have a lot of love for patrick. Mahomes was on those aches. That's sweet expos team that got strike shortened season. No he was actually a funny story. If you ultimately Two thousand four final season the expos existence i'm a senior at syracuse university and i'm applying for a visa to remain in the united states and work if you don't get this visa and you're an international student you have to go back to your home country while this visas processing you can't go back home..

Maybe overlapping with the discounted shopping on friday. Remember all the craze out there in the obviously online as well so we'll get to matthew loose straight ahead Using the whole fister and that is how we welcome in our to ufc guest. Matthew holt loofah carol. Good to be with you guys. It's been a fun ride for this. Ufc stretch. We started really in the summer when sports shutdown. So as we head into thanksgiving that's always nice to have a ufc podcast with you. Gentlemen for the ufc. Fight night here in las vegas. The apex your best bet is on the undercard. We're gonna get to that one and a little bit. But i want to start with. The main event curtis glades derek. Lewis pretty high price here minus three sixty four dollars lou any way to play this one. Yeah i think. The high price is warranted. Blades is a legit top three heavy weight. And then there's chasm between four and fifteen lewis is in the is in the lower degree If if you were to make a a style that would be perfect for heavy Unrelenting forward pressing wrestler. it would be a standup slugger. That's exactly what lewis is. He struggles to make the way and he's limited on cardiovascular that said he's very tough unease durable and he's highly explosive for six seven minutes. I expect this fight to be pretty one-sided in the blades directorship guy so maybe sometimes there's value on a big favourite and there's some three thirties out there so it's not necessarily definitely four dollars matthew. What about yourself. I liked the over here. I mean louis talked about the toughness. Derek lewis this is a tough guy to finish six and two in his last eight fights and if we look at some of those fights alexander volkov don nateing lewis for you know the vast majority of the fight fourteen minutes in in fifteen. I mean in forty. Five seconds to be exact and finally louis catches over the big punch at the end. Marsin tiber same thing. He was getting dominated on the ground. For two rounds. But what's amazing is. He's for a guy who gets taken down pretty easy derek lewis. He doesn't get Subbed very often daniel. Cormier is the only guy to ever submit the black beast and curtis blades. While he is a wrestling machine. Has zero career. Wins by submission so a guy that we know loves to take the fights to the ground we saw it in his last fight against alexander volkov where he just continued time after time to take volkov down and he's not the best finisher at an elite level curtis blades most of his finishes come on the ground and pound. Lewis is really tough there. I think over one and a half rounds in this fight feels really good. I think if lewis is going to catch glades it's gonna have to come late. We saw curtis blades dramatically slowdown down late in the alexander volkov fight. I think a lot of people believe that there was one more round in that fight. Volkov might have had a shot at finishing a very fatigued in gas curtis blades and this could be the same scenario. I think curtis blades is gonna get easy. Takedown after easy takedown of derek lewis for the first couple of rounds and then we'll see fatigue sets in if derek lewis at thirty five years old can pull another one of those amazing comebacks that he has so many times against wrestlers late in fights. But i really don't see either guy getting a finnish here early and i went ahead and laid over one and a half rounds minus one seventy five. Yes so the juice is there. And that's the thing you can't go to two and a half as an oddsmaker she just gotta move the juice on this and see what happens with the heavyweights. Let's go to the Cobaine if you will anthony smith devin clark and matthew. I knew you had a couple of points. You wanted to make their yet. I mean this is one of those situations we've seen in. Mma a lot of times. That's happened to guys. That run amazing runs where they viciously get knocked out and then they're never the same thing back to henan. Barau hennion brow was thought of as maybe one of the top two or three pound for pound fighters in the world at one. Thirty one straight fights the bantamweight champion in the ufc. The t. j. dillashaw caught them and knocked them out and in brow. Never the same again and we can go name after name that that's happened to when i wonder if that happened to anthony smith back in may in that glover to share a fight a fight where anthony smith came out very sharp against glover to share early in the fight but gassed himself and took a terrible terrible beating from glover to share in that fight and then as we went into his next fight in august against alexander raziq. He did not look the same..

So I had power outages, Christina, you had a power outage as well. I did I. Did I don't have any power in my apartment, but I have Wifi. We were making things work smoke and mirrors normally wouldn't be that big of a deal for work because we just go into Bristol and go to campus and get worked, but we can't really do that. It's a selective appearances that the SPN campus. So we had to delay the pod to this morning, and obviously with a golf major, we apologize to those who are waiting appreciate everyone's patience. So West Reynolds coming up Matthew Holt. Graduate. He's gone too cold for school just getting. No, he's just really jammed yesterday and today, and I've been thinking about bringing in loose the Nakara for a while. Another platforms does a great job with the. We're GONNA have a west coming up and momentarily, but I talked about crazy stuff going on with the bubble. How about the Milwaukee Bucks, nineteen point favorites, consensus favorites against the Brooklyn Nets and what's left of them. But a TLC goes off some other guys. Go off the nets, stunned the bucks, no Yana second half. But still nineteen point favorites in terms of the point spread the largest upset. In. NBA. Since nineteen, ninety-three in our database. So incredible, obviously the bubble life in the neutral court, it's wild, but certainly noteworthy stuff. But let's let's get to the golf in the AFC straight ahead before we do that I want to remind everyone with the much anticipated start of the two thousand twenty football season just around the corner..

"Johnson downloaded on Monday. July twenty to check that out coming up on this podcast though we're doing golfing, UFC will start with the man who has anyway go to borrow a phrase from the Great Dan Patrick West, Reynolds who nailed another winner had Jon Rahm and that is to winners in four visits to the podcast pretty pretty pretty good so well done by west, and then we'll wrap. We'll preview this weekend's tournament in Minnesota within momentarily and then Matthew Holt wrap things up with me previewing the final card on fight islands. Let's get to it. Stop Hammer time. caulker hero returns of the podcast Reynolds off his Jon. RAHM BET and pick congratulations. My friend thank you. Doug appreciated. And you know when you got an eight shot lead going into the back nine. You you start to figure okay, we can put our feet up and we're gonNA, get an easy one, but with all futures they are never easy. They're never over until the scorecard is signed and fortunately the penalty was was notified to miss around before you did. Sign the scorecard so You know so so that didn't factor into play, but look i. read he he. He was clearly the best on the weekend, but he started to leak a little bit of on the back nine and. Everybody was like okay. Here comes the collapse. Your comes to collapse and I was like man this. Wait a minute. You know they easy here, but he certainly did make it interesting. He certainly did and well done so your second win. I believe in four appearances here on the podcast, so that's. Pretty good performance and you kind sensed it right. He had a really good final round last week. Shot a believe sixty. And, so you kind of sniff that one out so good on you as we turn the page, we all WanNa. Make more money here. Let's talk about this course. What over all sort of impression do you have here with the three am tournament? Yeah, it's it's an arnold. Palmer Design E N, Tom Lehman scrum there in the twin cities area laymen consulted with him, but it's a palmer design, so most of the Arnold Palmer designs or played on the PGA tour are pretty yet -able. They're not very difficult courses for these top players got rennovation back in twenty, eighteen from Lehman and Tim, Herron and also he went off the PGA tour. Vice President of design services so par seventy, one seventy four hundred yards You've got three. Three shore and driveable par fours that some of the longer hitters may be able to reach. I would expect low scoring. Last year was the first year that the PGA tour had this event. This was played on the champions tour at this course two thousand, one to two thousand, eighteen at being the PPC twin cities, but Friday and Saturday. It's supposed to be a little bit Wendy so twenty one under was the winning score last year, so maybe this year could be eighteen or nineteen under, but. It's a relatively easy course. sixty is the course record that Paul Goydos shot in champions tour event in twenty seventeen. There were four rounds of sixty two year last year it really looks a little bit like afford type of course If you look at the design route of water and play on ten holes throughout the golf, course, Bent Bent Grass Greens. It is about nine hundred feet altitude, so the ball's GonNa fly a little bit further than normal, but what I looked at this week in terms of staff I looked at mainly strokes gained off the tee. Jokes gained approach. That's almost what I look at every week. Because the second shots are so important, but Yeah, that's what you're looking for. If you look at the winner and and the guys that finished near the top last year Matthew. Matthew Wolf only ranked thirty ninth in the field and stokes game putting and I think all Morikawa who ended up tied for second with Bryson to Shambo rated in the forties, so it's not of force where you necessarily have to just put the lights out. You just gotTa Give Yourself. Enough Opportunities more. Colin Wolfe last year at this that we're one two respectively in the field that we for strokes gained approach, so it's just shit, just said. Keep it in the fairway and reach the Greens and you're gonNA. Get a lot of work for birdies this week..

"You're never gonna have a role without disease. We cannot forget those who have these some talk that through need understand all those technologies in how they're leading to precision help. And so I have panels where I have folks from both sides. We had great prep call from one of the panels. Folks, I brought together that never spoke to each other unexcited be able to work together. But a so awesome. Linda, you know? So the big big reason why we started outcomes rocket is because we believe that is poss-. To break down the silos of communication between healthcare leaders doing amazing things. And what you're doing this meeting is so in line with our with our mission and our purpose. It just it just gives me goosebumps. And it makes me excited that you're doing this. So congratulations on getting all these awesome people on their one roof. Well, absolutely. And I'm really appreciative too. You know, health two point now, he agreed to produce the conference. I certainly couldn't do it without their help. You know, totally agree. Those you know, Matthew Holt. And and the folks over there are just, you know, in new they're just outstanding had a chance to be out of that meeting, and they were very supportive of outcomes rocket as well. So I gave you guys a big banks at health two point zero as well, you guys are supportive of all those who who have a vision in healthcare. And so big thank you goes out to you, all Linda, let's let's talk about a little bit. I know this this this conference is excite. Getting. But, but why don't you share a one of your proudest leadership moments to date that you've had in your in your career? I think for me. One of the interesting challenges. I was offered an opportunity to work at the National Cancer Institute in what we're really the early days of precision medicine. There was a program the cancer nanotechnology program that I was brought in to help launch. And to me, it was this fabulous experience to leverage, my background. My physical science background in knowledge of nanotechnology be on NIH main campus, and I could go to tumor boards. I could go to lectures, I was just a sponge for all his clinical information talking to clinicians really understanding what were some of the challenges air easing in. How we could move things forward. Any now, I I took a risk. I was living out in bay area. And then it's, you know, moved to Washington DC I define myself as being entrepreneur. Moore in the now, you know. So this was I felt the time, you know, bit of a risk to take. But couldn't have turned out there. Innovative things into people you need to spend some time in that environment in so I would really like to see more people sit in other seats of people are in see really understand. I mean, not just go in visit the FDA or go in talk to date assigns, a go and work with them side by side to really try to understand what they're facing into me was really I think. And I have huge respect or people in government who do take risks and try to bring four invation, then I think that's such a great call out. And you know, what kudos to you for doing that? You know, you're you're in the Silicon Valley, you're an entrepreneur. And you're thinking this is my track, and you got a DC and you totally stretch yourself. You get yourself out of your comfort zone. And now you have this appreciation that you didn't have before that's going to that. That's that has made you an even better entrepreneur. So listeners take this note from Linda and go beyond what you're comfortable with you know, I definitely I'm taking a note for myself. You know, what is it that I can do to become more to stretch myself beyond my comfort zone. So that I could also be a better whatever I am just fill in that blank for yourself. And for me, it'd be a contributor to to health care. And so what is it for you? Linda, great, great a message there. So let's pretend you, and I are building a medical leadership course on what it takes to be successful. In medicine today is the one one or the ABC's of Linda moaner, and so we're going to dive through four lightning round questions..

So I had this this toll cooled in search of intra era ability because I was trying to get access to it with different records because he had a high level when he was the L A totally find out the nominee impacts in the end. But let's get to I went through this. This haywire thing of chasing around between different clinics. "On building diagnostic, tools and senses and putting information and the to some extent the medical tech revolution out of the big institutions into people's from in helping people leave better lives. So to answer your question. The answer is that we're moving from a healthcare system, which you can argue is one hundred years old you could use ten thousand years old what we've done is dealt with. Patients clinicians system possible systems who have doctor's groups physician groups, drug companies tech swim who've dealt with patients kind of on a transactional point in time basis. You came in to see a doctor you go you'll seven minutes, fifteen minutes. Whatever it is something happened in that meeting transaction, and it was done and maybe drug at the end of it. Maybe when the picked up that description may be took it, maybe didn't maybe you had surgery, and you had implement in all whatever happened to be an you may or may not have good Fulop. What really happened is that the healthcare system has been rewarded in his focused been focused on what happens in the transaction in that procedure and what half the change do it will it is slowly changing this way is that we need to be worrying about the entire holistic twenty four seven three sixty five experience of that patient and groups of and since the whole with the healthcare system, which means we have to be collecting data about that wherever they are. And we have to be arranging. Get a fit the healthcare experience to simply fit into that lifestyle. The other way renowned sheriff somebody that healthcare systems no foot about a tool. So I think that's a big thing went to go from point in time to so continuous calf cycles that I think that's important. An it's the most important for the sickest people. Absolutely math in the. It's the most people because they take up the most resources, but they also have the biggest need not. No, that's great. And you know, what I really enjoy speaking with you about this topic because I could tell you're passionate about it. And how else do you stay in it for three decades? If you don't have the I can imagine talking to you thirty years ago, and it's probably still that same fire that you have today. So that's really awesome and contagious. Really? Just kinda hearing you speak. I'm getting fired up over here. You know, I wanna get some smack health done. And so for the outcomes rocket listeners that are -tuni- in today being that that you're. Russia. You can take this as a website called smart. Good health is that your site. Is it smack dot health? If you get a smack health is kind of funny. So there's a new organization it's promoting co dot health, which is promoting the health. He was go help websites. They can say knows health the main extension. It's like an adult COM or don't fight for not go somewhere sites have adult CO. So that used to be Columbia's is the same company. They somehow they don't see off the nation of Columbia. Interesting now that don't help we've got a great relationship with them. They they put up a smack funny smack. I don't think he nightlife websites who I put one of those. It's fun hobby. That's the main website, the may website, the health got blocked calm and health to comb local which south do, but I would set low for the listeners Matthews is we'll provide the one that you want the listeners to check out and with this topic of healthcare is leaving the hospital were having to focus more on population health, and even beyond that right point of access from financial standpoint. Did you graphical standpoint, it's super important? And so with the use of technology as you mentioned being the vehicle to get to the next level. I really like the idea that you shared about it's beyond digital digital was three iterations ago. We're we're way ahead of that. We're in the cloud now. And so can you give the listeners and example of maybe a conference that you have coming up where they can go and learn some more from people that are already implementing this official depends whether on the world, but the most notable one is a launch full conference switches..

"To me that Trump's meetings with with survivor led to us putting together the first healthy Puerto conference. So each of those has been like a turning point. I'm not sure I call it that maybe a Bill on stuff before each one of them. It's great and say, well, this one thing how then explode from that each one of them into a whole hard work and notice early or successful immediately afterwards. But I think you've got a you get a certain number choices in chances in live to try to do something meaningful the right center to do something impactful maybe productive per pie fully productive. Yeah. That's going to take you down or whatever it is. And this may be very different for the babe Rickles. But infected all those cases it ended up being some each of them built on previous stuff. I like sending a lot to do if the flipped once chair. That's a great distinction. Matthew, this idea of building upon rather than just pivoting? And so I feel like you don't give yourself enough credit for what you've done and with the intuition that you have and the choices that you've made and what you've. Build upon what's a hot topic that you feel should be on every medical leaders agenda today. And what are you guys at health two point on doing to address it? Well, so let me stop you. What health two point zero does? And as you mentioned earlier, we sold your of a company though, into honest thing around. In fact, it's been a very successful transition because we sold off of conferences where best known for running with for running one big conference in the full in Silicon Valley every year about to up to run our eleventh that we run seven while we're running seven while weather shifts seven six, yeah. We're gonna run seven courses this year. So, you know, it's one Europe one in Japan wanted India and then four in the US, so, but that's an ending woman. Prestone full anyway at all focus is on its either by regional by topic. But I'll focus on you emerging technologies. Now, they change healthca. Traditionally new merging into information technologies. Smack health, social and senses mobile operating systems, and cloud and the. As the kindness kinds in health care health. Hunker tub did smack. Yeah. I don't let the term gigolo health on a bit pedantic those things like he did this about a health. I don't let them digital health because it implies a lot of of the first generation of computing, which is currently going on in healthcare right now. Listen, the use of the big game ost ethics and son as little scripts. I think we need to move transcendental Paul and the world of healthcare in the cloud, which is if you look at other businesses in other industries, whether going share anyway, so we focus on that in all conference business, and then we have a separate business which into an I kept apart from the komo's business which is called catalysts and catalyst. Does is it helps lodge organizations like governments that government economic development agencies in New York in the World, Bank and foundations and big some big companies like drug companies and health funds. Pastoralize innovation. We have a couple of different programs full out. One of them is a is a marketplace fragment where we put together small technology companies with. Potential customers like hospitals, usually in the ages of creating a marketplace, we do that digital. It's such a digital health marketplace in New Delhi. I lost the battle over naming. I lost the battle over navy that one so call the smack health. Mock the we do the similar thing with the World Bank in India, and we've done some of the thing in some poll communities, some undeserved communities will join run straight competitions and challenges either protect companies to help a big tech companies like little scripts to help get a smaller companies to build on their IP is or we just finished with Pfizer where they would essentially slice it where they have been getting a technology and service companies to build tools with.

"That's basically what done ever since smile, and Matthew what an amazing story how you take these twists and turns you were in that room surrounded with your peers, and you were sort of insinuation where everybody had the same topic, and you decided to pivot and with the small thin it you could go to that. It was an intuitive pivot that you did I find that most. If not all outstanding leaders do is that they know how to trust their gut and makes small pivots that lead to big change. Which is something that you did. And one thing led to another. You find yourself in this office with this gentleman once again making another decision to pivot and potentially what led to start your company that you can sold what an amazing story. And the takeaway there is when you're in these situations. That you have to make a decision being the same doesn't pay the bills. You gotta be different and not be afraid to make decisions. And that's something that you've done. Really? Well, so I appreciate you sharing that and what an interesting way of getting into the business for sure. Well, in some ways, I like zinc combination of things about this. You've got to put in the miles you go to put in the learning. You call. I was talking to a guy today who dropped out of college with by saying now, you go back you go to get the stamp. I don't too many doctors and fight like co-founder health to bars a doctor who got to the end of medical school, and then didn't get a residency. I kind of think that the track you go down. And you've got to have a good reason to getting if you're gonna get off that try with very good reason. Did a regular she. She some well becoming entrepreneurial an entrepreneur in healthcare oven up through across doctor. But I think that many people you've got a little unity the presents itself. More and you may not realize it's maturity, and it's you know, I clearly go lucky that the stock Yoshi Callum. I buy them Stanford showed up with some research money, and that you know, aggressive who has the money would while to get a patriot. And they'll get a paycheck. I was his. It wasn't like I thought that was gonna lead to a message career. But once you start looking at something, and you get to do that you start getting to you've got to stop thinking of the house is going to play out. So I would say there have been two three times in my career. When a dumb that I pick four. So I think I almost decisions anelle looking at the health care system in the US and gun while this is the big meaty topic, which is going to have some legs for a long time phone to get involved in it. So you know, that was I think the same thing was true about the, you know, when I was in St. with the future around the internet and information technology in health care. I kinda shied away. That's okay. I was more we'll policy in business guy. But I mean, eventually IT the software, you know, Malkin recently invented that browser says triangle for a believe the world must think he's he's probably right about that. So it was a good thing to get connected. And then later on I have one of the first of blogs in healthcare and healthcare blog, which gimmick set up a bit of an accident. Because I was the only person Stanford nipping entity jumpings health system, I got the job to be this through such a system a maintenance Elizer the end of that year when I should have been going back to the UK to become a consultative congress to so whatever the hell I was going to do. He said, hey, why don't you stay around? Get yourself on a politics degree yourself at something healthcare degree. And we says recession ended up staying on that program in picking up the grin hell substance research. I ended up staying there for about nearly three years. And the interesting thing was the although I'm now health to work in Japan. Again, basically will in it with the American healthcare system that I was gonna look cross compresses for the Americans in back in nineteen eighty nine nine hundred ninety the American healthcare system was terribly screwed up very expensive in had poor outcome. So that was being spent etc. All the stuff that we know this true today wasn't quite as bad on the match since today. But suddenly how problems the more the one who is. Well, this is a major issue. So it turned out of three two three is flatter. I end up being spent on the other side of Stanford. I have a political science degree with very much analysis is research degree, which a us even less, but I ended up getting a job at bicycle institutes. The future. Institute for the future was a venerable succumb valley institution. Does research think-tank ary and it had a big healthcare practice. Looking bite seeming paid by drug companies device companies health fines because bills help them figure out the future health, get politics and the future of what was knows as manage cavern. Why we're gonna do payment reform? This is back in the nineteenth full before the Clinton plans to get the above garages before plan. Right. But that was going through the process, so they also had a lodge soup about technology practice with you know, the apples and HP's Intel's graphics. The world back in those days is that customers, and they had a very very putative little project, which is so between sue which is information, technology and health gap. And when I showed up I kind of got stuck in the healthcare group Meltzer took over not basic nobody else wanted to do that. And I always say that I was going to be the right place, and you'll be lucky and it's now early late ninety three ninety four and this is thing literally walked into a guy's office. And he said, oh, you should look at this. And he was always computing's clicking around. And this was a guy who'd been laid off by apple. So we're back apple was about to tank. What's the biggest company in the world? Now. The most trouble this guy there the glory days. The apple two in the first MAC, and he'd been laid off. And he was hanging out do the future and he was clicking around on the screen. And eventually he said did you hit that? There was no tweeting as well. As I said that was the sound of a stray Lian so fresh that I've just downloaded for the university of self Australia in Adelaide using this thing cold the mosaic browser on the world. Why? Well, that's a toy that we have a care about that thing. But right, right. Pretty certain the impact of this single the willow where the the internet on health guest to it..

This the Wall Street of the UK for three years, I was completely ill suited an unsuccessful. And I go five from a couple of jobs, which is. The number market was sending me a message as I ended up with Stanford University doing a because California was on the I've came out and flush sure way to get here. And it's easy to come to be a student at Stanford loss to the program in political science, and I did call some Japanese politics, and one of the things that are the coast, of course, was to write a term paper like a research paper, and I was going to write one my topic for a walk into the room. The professor was going to be the Japanese investment in the call business. This is how long ago this well Seoul this. When people were scheduled pan was taking over the world. This is nineteen thousand nine hundred eighty nine ninety and I literally will to this room and a bunch of grad students sitting round table. I'm sitting on the professors rights, and he tends to his lessons as okay, what's your help? H the first person that goes all the way around is able by the time it gets to me. There are four or five other people who are gonna do Japanese investment in the European call business, and I'm gonna bloody hell the same thing that form the people doing so just let them ahead. A cell phone loose on the us. How about no one is talking about Japanese domestic or take sole poking call the what about the Japanese healthcare system. Elicited some of that and the president will allow a deer, and then they gave me some pointers. Why? So ended up riding the civil term paper. And I thought that would kind of be it. And at the very next not even the next semester, the stamina this quarter system..
