Water Walking 101

"Water walk in one oh one. And might put in a seventh for extra credit if God blesses us with the time. But I noticed that a lot of times when we get in a situation like these disciples were in. Maybe like you're in right now with your job or maybe like you're in right now trying to figure out what to do with your family. Those kids your quiver is full right now. How many quiver is full and you quiver is. To be quite honest, your quiver is quivering. Though Bible humor quickly. and. When we find ourselves in these situations, there is a tendency to blame you know the disciples like the fight. And liked to argue with one another any chance they got. But yet the storm brought them together in a unique way in Matthew Chapter. Fourteen. Trial sometimes tighten our focus. And so one thing we don't see in this storm is Peter John Going back and forth there Andrew and Bartholomew talking about who's rowing the hardest? They just need to make it through the storm. But what really got my attention was a detailed that I must have skimmed over like I mentioned in today since we're in class I, want to study a little more deeply. Is that blame doesn't get you through a storm. And the detail I noticed in Verse Twenty to present on the screen for me. Again, it said that Jesus made the disciples get into the bowl. Jesus made the disciples get into the boat. You're not people say the devil made me do it. Jesus made the disciples get into the boat. He didn't ask them. He didn't recommend. He didn't suggest, and now would be one thing if he didn't know but he's the son of God with all wisdom. So. How did the one with all wisdom send them into something that threatened their life? I want you to write down point number one in the class and put it in the chat. Certain storms are unavoidable. Just need you to know that certain storms. You know what I mean by storm, right? It's not always physical. Sometimes, there can be an emotional storm. Sometimes there can be a psychological storm. Sometimes. There can be a relational storm. You know these storms we get into sometimes we are so busy trying to figure out how to get out of them. Then, we expend all the energy that we could have spent trying to learn what God wants us to learn through the storm. There's two ways to get through the storm and. As a survivor. And how many know is good. Just celebrate that you're still here. In case, you had a bad week I'm gonNA give you fifteen unscripted seconds. To praise God for the storms that you have survived. You can sit there. This been sunny in your neighborhood. But if you survive some depression. And if you thought were going down but. Give them praise. Survive the storm is a miracle to survive. Abuse is a miracle. To survive in economy that is falling apart but God provided is a miracle. But then God says you you can be a survivor. But then if you want to there are certain people that they decide I'm not just going to be a survivor I'm going to be a student of the store. And I I am learning to learn from the storm. I'm learning to learn from the storm. The thing about it is there are certain things that I can only learn in storms and. The second thing that I want to point out to you and the text is that God's timing. Is designed. To teach you to trust. When Jesus, who made the disciples get into the boat? The Bible says that when he decided to reveal himself to them. was just before dawn. If the goal that God has is the comfort us. Then this is a this is a late appearance. But if God's goal is sometimes to change us then it makes sense that he

Hypocritical Judgment

"We start to look at Matthew Chapter. Seven verse one, the versed at. So many us to say that we shouldn't judge other people. They say judge not that you be not judged and yet they ignore that verse to he goes on to state how to judge others in the issue he's raising is not that we shouldn't judge people, but we shouldn't be hypocrites in the fact that we hold people to a standard. We don't hold ourselves. He makes it really clear in versus. Three to five where he says, why do you see the SPEC that is in your brother's eye but do not notice the log that is in your own I. You hypocrite first take the log out of your eyes. You can see clearly and take the SPEC out of your brother's eye. The issue he was addressing is the Pharisees that were so quick to measure everyone else as being wrong and sinful and. An unrighteous and yet they refuse to look at themselves and hold themselves to the same standard that they're holding others. The issue that Jesus was raising in. Matthew Chapter Seven is not the issue that we shouldn't judge other people know he's actually saying we should judge other people because he goes on to give us the standard of judgment he saying that we shouldn't judge hypocrites. When we judge others, we should be holding ourselves to same. Standard that we hold others to, it's very easy to see wrong and other people even though we may do far worse than they do because don't look at what we do is wrong and we accept what we're doing. This is what he's addressing. The hypocrisy that he sees in the Pharisees don't judge is a hypocrite

Augustines Teenage Coauthor

"In three eighty, nine Augustine Co wrote a book called it the teacher. The title comes from a Text Matthew Chapter Twenty three verse. Ten. which reads for you have one instructor or one teacher. Christ. Augusta and said, this book discusses and inquires and discovers that there is no teacher who teaches men knowledge accept God. As, written in the Gospel and he quotes Matthew Chapter Twenty, three ten of course that is very significant the title of the Book and where it came from it's also significant that this book was written in three eighty nine. It was just three years after Agustin's conversion you remember his story, he leaves Hippo there north. Africa goes up to Rome goes to Milan is literally running away from God like Jona or the Prodigal son. But God catches him. In fact, God has been directing him and directing every step of his path straight to him and in three eighty, six in. Milan. He was converted and three, eighty eight he leaves Rome, and heads back to Carthage, and then onto the gassed and hippo in North Africa, and there he will serve for the rest of his life as bishop. But this is in three, eighty nine. It is early in his Christian time. So the title is significant the date is significant but what is really significant is that Augusta had a CO author for this book and this was not just any CO author. It was a teenager sixteen year old came along to help Augusta and write this book. And was not does any sixteen year old? It was his son at data's the teacher is a dialogue, a dialogue between father and son the father. Augusta and the Sun Addio data's his son's name literally means a gift from God dot to means Gift Day Oh of course God and awe is the preposition that means from. He too was converted right at the same time Augustine was, and they were also baptized by Ambrose there in Milan and audio Dada was baptized as he was turning fifteen he went with his father back to Carthage, and then in three eighty nine, they wrote this book together in the confessions. This is what Augusta says of it. There is a book of mine called the teacher which consists of a dialogue between Avocados and myself, and now Augustine who in the confessions rights most directly to God, and so he says, you know addressing God let all the ideas expressed by the second speaker in the discussion his. Although he was only sixteen when it took place and I learned for myself that he had many other talents, even more remarkable than this, his intelligence left me spellbound and who but you who but you? Could work such wonders is so here's a guston singing. The praises of his son at your data, and as they wrote this book together well in the Book Augusta. Talks about how we use words to communicate words are symbols, their signs, they signify things. Patio donnas comes to realize that words put us on the alert they make us ready to learn. But ultimately, the words we used to learn ultimately all that is sourced in God in Christ is our teacher well, then conclusion Augustine says this to no end to love him and his to know and to love God is the blessed life which all proclaimed that they are seeking but few have the joy of really finding that is to say all want the good life but only few find it. And that was Agustin's hope for his son Avocados. Well, sad to say that a year after this book, his son at Yoda's died in Augusta who was very sorrowful from this could at least take comfort in the fact that his son died in Christ and so a Guston was confident. His son Bodice was with God.

Loving Jesus Supremely (Luke 14:26)

"Luke Chapter Fourteen Verse Twenty Six. If anyone comes to me. And does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters. Yes and even his own life. He cannot be my disciple. What statement? Now we've seen this language before earlier in. Chapter? Nine. Verse Twenty three she said if anyone comes to me. So again, this is enter Dr he what it means to follow Jesus. He says he must hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters. And even his own life like what does that mean like? Elsewhere in scripture we honor Your father and mother love your wife lay down your life for your wife and your children and brothers and sisters around you like love, your family love and brothers and sisters in Christ. Certainly. I, Love Your family. So we see that in structure. So what is Jesus saying here then? And basically, and this is a powerful picture. Jesus is calling us. To love him. So. Now again, this is what it means to be a follower views. Introductory to love him so supremely. that. Even our closest relationships in this world look like hate in comparison. Do you. Do you love Jesus like that. The I love Jesus like that. Even my relationship with my wife like I. Love My wife's. I love my kids so much. Love My mom, my dad. But do I love Jesus. In a way that makes those relationships look like, hey, in comparison is what Jesus said this exact language you just used in Matthew Chapter Ten and a similar passage where Jesus said, whoever loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me like this is the greatest commandment, love God with all your heart and all your soul, all your mind, all your strength. So today reprint for the Kashmiri. Muslims. In Pakistan one point, two, million of them and So Kashmir's contested region all round that combines Pakistan India in particular but the Kashmiri Muslims are Sunni Muslims. If. Someone who is a Kashmiri Muslim. Here's The Gospel and decides to follow Jesus. The likelihood is they will totally lose their family. Like home and dad would disown them. Brother or sister disown them may even try to kill them. Like I've I've been near this region in the world I think about one man and his wife who came to know Christ. Up In this area who upon coming to know Christ were kicked out of their homes. They ended up getting married as followers of Jesus and they worked they wanted to get back to their families to be able to share the gospel with them. So they worked their way back to where they could go visit their families, their families welcomed them in or so they thought one day they were standing. There with her family and he left the husband left to go and visit with his family. And when he came back, his wife had been poisoned to death in her own home buyer own family. Jesus says. If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters. Yes and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. I. This is what it means to follow Jesus. So. God, we praise you I. Praise you that. Upon coming to faith in you. That I didn't. I didn't lose my my family on this earth. God I know that's a reality for many of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We pray we prefer strengthen them. Pray, for your help. In their lives. Got I pray for this husband. Can pictures face right now mention his name but I pray you continue to strengthen him and help him in a pulled him. God regardless. Of where we live in the world, we pray you would help us. To obey your word here in Luke Chapter Fourteen Verse Twenty Six help us to love you Jesus supremely. And we pray that this would transform affect our love for father, mother wife Children Brothers, and sisters, and even the way we look at our own life guy that we would love others for your Sake, the God we pray that all be driven by supreme love for you got refrain each of our hearts I pray this in my own heart and this over every single person who's listening to this right now. Give us Elvis to grow in love for you that would make our closest relationships in this world. Look like hate in comparison help us to love you with all her heart and all our soul all our mind, all their strength and how lay down our lives to love you more than we love our own lives and we pray that as we do this, you would use our lives to make your love known right around us and our families and our churches in our cities and to the ends of the earth among Kashmiri Muslims in bogus I was delayed out has to make your love known among more and more and more Kashmiri Muslims in Pakistan. We. Love you. We WanNa grow in our love for you even as we praise and worship and glorify you for your love for us. We pray all this in Jesus name.

Removing Logs and Specks (Luke 6:41-42)

"Luke chapter, six versus forty, one and forty two. Jesus says. Why do you see the SPEC? That is in your brother's eye. But do not notice the log that is in your own I. How can you say to your brother brother? Let me take out the suspect that is in your eye. When you yourself do not see the log that is in your own I, you hypocrite first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the SPEC that is in your brother's i. Mrs. Pretty clear what we see in Jesus teaching here and really all over scripture, it is far easier to see sin in others than it is to see sen in ourselves. I get his. It's much more natural to us to observe sin and others, and not observed sin in ourselves. And, so Jesus is saying very clearly here. Whenever you notice sin, others stop like immediately. Stop and ask. What evidence is there of sin even specifically that Sen we see and others. In our own lives. Like. Sin Around us should immediately cause us to examine sin in us. To ask, how do I need to be more holy more like Jesus? What do I need to confess and so to do this? Like Jesus not saying not to help your brother or sister to help someone turn from sin like he wants us and cause us to. The Gospels thing. About Matthew Chapter Eighteen all throughout the new task, we are commanded to help one another grow in hall in his to become more like Jesus to spur one another on toward Christ restore one another when we are caught in sin like we do this word. This is one of the ways we love each other. If someone in my life, see sin in my life, and just doesn't say anything just ignores it, and lets me continue down a sinful path, and that person does not love me like if they love me, they will call me away from sin, but they will do it with a humble heart. That has examined that sin, and just the presence of sending their own hearts in the process, and in this way we realize that helping one another turned from sin as long as we're doing it, luke six forty, one to forty two style like letting that lead us first and foremost to examination our own hearts, we realize. That we grow in Jesus in this process and others grow in their relationship with Jesus and likeness to Jesus in this process so God help us. We pray to do this well. God opener is to sin. In, US, and around us. GotTa we want to turn from sin, and we want our brothers and sisters in Christ turn from sin. We all want to experience the life you have for us, so give us sensitivity to send Anna's and around us when we see sent around us God. We pray for Hugh, Melanie. We pray for honest self examination. Even practically right now. As, we might think through. Where we want to help those around us grow in Christ, God show us ways where we need to grow in Christ. God us even seeing sin and others to expose in your own hearts and. Do this work of sanctification in us, and then you ask God, please use us to. Do this work of sanctification and others lives for their good God. We pray. You'd help us to remove logs from our eyes. And to remove specs from our brothers and sisters is and in this process God. Please make us all look more like Jesus help us help us to be sensitive to sin in others lives, and in our own lives, and in the process opposite to confess it, honestly humbly to repent of it, and to follow you and experience the life. Eve designed for us to live. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen

"Christians are to submit to civil authority. We should be if we're a Christian. Among the best citizens on this planet, God's people should want to cooperate with civil government as fully as popular as possible and example of that was recently. Recently seen by this congregation as well as other churches in the US, our government said we haven't pandemic. Our government said that because of the pandemic we need churches to close their regular assemblies. It's dangerous to come together as a group we did that I can keep track of the number of weeks, but I can't say it was several weeks and for me, and for the rest of us, that was a brand new experience we had. We had to make some adjustments. We had to show some flexibility. Well given what we have in Romans chapter thirteen, wanting to do good to our neighbor Matthew Chapter Seven Lee did. What the government ask. We did not however change the prescribe acts of worship. We did change the format of some things. Being somewhat flexible is certainly not a problem when we think about being obedient to evil civil government, however, having said that when it does come to civil government, there are some things. Where we cannot be flexible, you may remember from acts chapter. Five in verse, Twenty Nine. There were some civil authorities who send to Peter. You've got to stop preaching going around and talking about Jesus in this Christian system that has got to stop Peter and the other apostles said we must. We must obey God rather than men Peter said on this matter, there is no flexibility. We do not have any choice. We Must Proclaim The gospel of Christ and we will not stop now. Peter could've used some other words. He could say well. We should obey God rather than man, or we might obey God rather than men. He didn't say that he said we must. It is imperative. It is required for us to obey God rather than men. The decision has already been made. We should be praying. About the people in China, who are suffering great persecution? But we also need to be ready as Christians whether or old for what may come in America. If that means because of how things are. Perhaps, we haven't even worse virus, and we're no longer able to pass conveniences we do. Perhaps we need to come into the building and lead to pick up one of those pre package chameleon sets, and we say the bread tastes like wall board. And the communion juice saw idiots bad. Taken Anyway. If. That's early choice. That's what we do because that is what God requires. I'll tell you. What if we get to the point where the government says you can't do this or that. Our Position Next Chapter Five in Verse Twenty Nine is, we will not. We will not as Christian as a faithful Christian stop partaking the Lord's supper. We will not forgive singing forego singing. If the government forbids it, we will not replace the Gospel of Christ with government speeches. We will not replace the praises to God with hymns to our nation. We will not take up a collection plate for the state. We may face persecution from the beast, but our position needs to be. Be that when it comes to spiritual matters, things that God has told us to do, we will not then we want to be the best possible citizens, but when God has sent, this is something that I require. We stand for that in thick and thin, regardless of what comes acts five twenty nine is the bottom line on things that are non-negotiable. God says we must obey him rather than man. A time may be coming. Sure we think we will truly have to take a stand for Jesus Christ, but really that time is earning. Here's a not in Matthew Chapter Twelve in verse thirty..

The Urgent Need to Make Disciples - Matthew 28:19

"Matthew Chapter Twenty Eight. I nineteen. Go therefore. And make disciples of all nations. baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. So much, we can talk about here so much. We could pray based on just that that one verse in the Great Commission but I want us to pray. Based on one truth. And what? We just read that I think many people often miss. So when Jesus says, make disciples of all nations. That is not a general command to make disciples among as many people as possible. No, that's a specific command to make disciples of all nations Ponta ethnic of all the ethnic groups. Of all the peoples of the world. So Jesus told us to go to every ethnic group. Every people group in the world and make disciples there. So what that means is, if we are not working in our lives, our families and churches to take the Gospel. To people groups ethnic groups places where the Gospel is not yet gone. Then we are disobeying the Great Commission. Disregarding what Jesus is us to do here. And the reason this is so important because. We already. And our lives and families and churches even in our churches. We spend so little on missions. Taking the Gospel to other places, but then even out of that which we spend on missions. Did you know? That ninety plus percent of missions resources in north. American churches so resources we're spending on. Missions are actually going to places in the world where the Gospel has already gone. Where churches have already been planted. Many churches even Christians when we think about missions. We think all over Latin America. We think all over sub Saharan Africa. When reality is by God's. Grace The Gospel has gone all over Latin America. All over sub Saharan Africa Yes. There are small pockets in these places, these regions where the gospels now gone, but for the most part the Gospel has gone disciples of in May, churches have been planted, and it's not wrong by any means to come alongside our brothers and sisters in these places to learn from them to work together for the glory of God, no question at the same time. We're fooling ourselves if we call that emissions when the reality is were still not obeying the mission. When ninety plus percent of our resources are going to places where the gas was already gone, and Jesus has commanded us, not suggested not implied he is crystal clear commanded us to make disciples take the Gospel, the good news of his love to people. Groups places where the gospels not yet gone. So this is why I know why. We radical started urgent, just identify the places in the world, the groups of people in the world, even the countries in the world, where there's the least access to the Gospel and to mobilize resources to go to them. It's called urgent. That's what initiatives call like. Because there's urgent need, there are people dying and going to an eternal hell who've never even heard. Nobody's even brought the good news of how they can go to heaven through Jesus to them so I just wanted to lead us to pray accordingly. Jesus we. We want to obey your. Command. We want to make your grace and your glory known among all the nations. So we pray. That you would. Open her eyes. Inner Churches to see where the Gospel is gone and to work to take the Gospel, their and our lives, and our families, and our churches to go, and to send, and to come alongside brothers and sisters who are in these places, a few brothers and sisters. I think about that we're. Partnering together with these places in the world, God help us to get behind him and work with them. For the spread of the gospel of never heard gotta we pray you think about all these countries that we're focused on an urgent like Syria God for Your glory in the Megan disciples in Bhutan North Korean. Across India and Iraq and Afghanistan and Iran Laos Lebanon Nepal and some Malia and Yemen Jesus Make Your glory known in those places and use us to do it. Don't don't let us sit back. Content to hold onto the gospel or just to take it where it's already gone God, help us to work us our efforts to take the Gospel whereas Never Gone So that disciples made in all the nations. Just as you've called to do for Your glory for the glory of the name of Jesus in all nations. We pray these

Servants of Others - Matthew 23:11

"Matthew Chapter. Twenty three verse, Eleven. Jesus, says the greatest among you shall be your servant. Eight words that go totally against the grain of the way the world thinks. The go totally against the grain of the way, our sinful hearts are wired. And, we think we're wired to think that the greatest among you shell, show him or herself superior in this way or that way. But Jesus totally turns that on side, and says No. The greatest among you is the one who is serving the one who is. Putting others interests above their own, the one who is laying down their life. To help others to care for. To build up others. The one who is greatest among your Jesus says shall be the one who is serving you. So just thinking about that today like what if we live this way? What far approach when we got up in the morning that we saw in Matthew Chapter Twenty. Jesus are servant like he came to serve us, so we wake up in the morning, and Jesus says I'm here to serve you today. And so then what if we lived out of the overflow of that? And we had the same posture toward the world around its toward the people and our homes toward friends, neighbors people we work with. We just said I, am their servant. To See ourselves that way with that kind of posture perspective. It would change the way we live if we looked at ourselves as servants of others. So, Jesus we pray help us. To live like this. reprise you all over again for. Coming not to be served, but to serve to give your life as a ransom for us for the way you service with your mercy, and your grace, and your strength and your piece in everything we need all day long as we look to you, and so we pray, you'd help us then in turned to be a servant to others. Got To help us to serve. The. People in our homes. Our neighbors help us to serve them well to love our neighbors as ourselves just as we are focused on taking care of ourselves, got help us to be focused on taking care of people around us on helping people around us. And our work that we're doing whether it's in Zoom Golf during these days or just, however we are working. Help us to see ourselves. As servants of others serve people with the Gospel who know it God. Help us to lay down. Our lives are pride. A reputation is share the gospel with those who don't know it. Got Re. Pray to help us to be servants of others. Give us this kind of hard transform our hearts, our minds, our perspective, we pray that we might not think like the world thinks and live like the world would encourage us to live. Help us to lay down our lives today as servants of people all around us. Just we know this is your pastas flipping to five through eleven, so help us to have your attitude. "And he said to me these are the true sayings of God now. In case, you didn't recognize that this was important for you to pay attention to when he said blessed are these group of people who do this thing those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lord of the lamb. He says these things are true. They are true sayings of God. A the reference that he's making is similar to the one he makes Matthew Chapter. Twenty Two, Matthew Chapter Twenty two Jesus teaches this parable about the wedding feast. If you go ahead and turn with me, there Matthew Chapter twenty two in verse one. He says and Jesus answered and spoke to them again by payrolls, and said the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who arranged marriage for his son does sound familiar. John the Baptist preacher when he was confronted with Jesus talked about the lamb of God who comes to take away the sins of the world. He talks about this individual as one whom he is not even worthy to unleash his Sandal straps. And he also talked about it being enough for him to be the best man, the friend of the bridegroom, and how he looks forward. To what he implied would be a wedding, and so there will be. There will be a wedding. A great wedding marriage supper of the land blessed are those who are called here in Matthew Chapter Twenty two. He says this, in regard to arranging king, arranging a marriage for his son verse three and San His servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, and they were not willing to come. That sounds very familiar as well. We have many. Many individuals both in the New Testament in Jesus day, perhaps even, but even after that where at the new, testament comes into effect, and the Gospel is preached, and three thousand souls are added there on the day of Pentecost, but how many more rejected the hearing of what they were? What was being preached there? How many more over the years have rejected the call for the wedding feast to the preparation of the person? They could be found worthy. And attend this incredible event. We think in this world about weddings and how important they are. and. HOW UPSET YOU ARE! If your friend or your family member doesn't invite you to their wedding, you feel you feel like you've been snubbed. Do you feel like you don't belong there like? They don't Vikings because they didn't invite you. and..

Coming to the King like a Child (Matthew 19:13-15)

"Matthew Chapter Nineteen persis- thirteen through fifteen. Then children were brought to him that he may lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuke the people but Jesus said let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for to such belongs to the Kingdom of Heaven. And he laid his hands on them and went away. Xanada beautiful picture. Of Jesus love for children. I just just imagine that scene like all these kids coming up surrounding Jesus and the disciples thinking this is a really important teacher like send them away and she says water doing. And he brings them up and lays his hands on them. Praise for them, and he says these words. Let the little children come to me. Do not hear them for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven like that's quite a statement. To such belong the Kingdom of Heaven. What is this passage teaching? Think the. Primary truths is crystal clear. I, what is it about children? That's being expressed here. Jesus receives the humble and Jesus rejects the proud. I'm so that again. Like Jesus receives the humble. and Jesus rejects the proud. And we know that's the meaning because of what happens right after this in Matthew Chapter Nineteen as rich young man. He who looks important like okay now. This is the person that should be around Jesus. This is the person that the important teacher needs to be around rich influential young man. And yet we see in this rich young man. Who Lack of humility. An unwillingness to come to Jesus and surrender all that he is, and all that he has all that have all of his possessions to Jesus and Jesus at the end of this, says everyone who's left house, brothers, sisters, or Father Mother Silver Land, for my namesake will receive a hundred fold will. Life but many who are first will be last and the last first Jesus is turning the tables upside down. He receives the humble. He rejects the proud so in prayer. We say Jesus. You. Are Our Lord we come to you like children right now. Like crawling up into your lap in this sense, saying re trust to trust you with our lives. Trust, you their families. We trust you as your church. Trust you everything going on in the world around us. Is Think about. Lord when my here my kids come up and just crawl into my lap and. Just hold onto them. And their resting in my arms, we just in prayer right now we take that position. We so gladly take that position. All of us no matter who we are no matter what we have achieved like. We've achieved anything apart from your grace, no matter what we have. No matter. What importance the world may or may not attached us, we come to. You like little children. Before you as our father in heaven in prayer. And we say we trust in you. With everything going on in our lives right now we trust in you. We rest in you. We find security in you. We find joy in who. We rest in your love for us in your arms around a senior direction of our lives and your sovereignty over all things we look around us in the world, and we don't find rest in any thing anyone around us and what we find arrest in you, your arrest, your our delight. We love coming you. We love coming to you. Is Our Father in heaven who? Love Calming to love you. We love you, Jesus. We are so thankful to be children. Who can say to you. Oh God our father in heaven. Rid us of all pride, Re pray rid of all pride is Brayford. Removal on pride in me. Pray for humility in my life. Heart, the death of who I am and I'm brave that over. Brothers and sisters to a praying right now and give us the humidity of children gives the faith of children in you, our father, knowing you receive the home and you reject the proud. We love. You. Pray all these things in your name as children of a father in heaven.

Forgiving as we have been Forgiven (Matthew 18:21-22)

"Matthew Chapter Eighteen versus twenty. One and twenty two. Then Peter came up and said to Jesus Lord How often when my brother sin against me and I forgive him. As many as seven times. Jesus said to him I just said you seven times, but seventy seven times. In other words. Over and over and over again. Just as and he goes on to tell Miss parable of an unforgiving servant. Forgive others Jesus Says Justice My heavenly father forgives you. Thank invite us just to think about that. How does God forgive us? How many times. Does God. Forgive us. How. Patient is God. With us. How loving is he taught us. How often do we? Fall Short of his righteousness in his glory. How often do we send in? He is faithful to forgive. And she's saying. You forgive one another like that. God help us, we pray. God we praise you with praise you for your forgiveness of us. Jesus. Thank you for dying on the Cross to make this possible. For is such. Overwhelmed right now by the reality that I am everyone who's praying right now. Just put our faith in Jesus that we stand before you the holy God, the universe totally forgiven a all our sins. As if we have never done anything wrong ever ever ever. And not just. Forgiving a sense, but Swiss stand for your God, the very righteousness of Jesus as if we have done everything, right. We. We don't deserve this grace. We don't deserve this mercy this position this privileged before you all glory be to your name for your grace in our lives. At, so we prayed here. Help us to show this cat him grace in others lives. In our relationships in. Our homes. And our families in our. Churches. In the world, nor does as. People wrong as people tend us his. People San. People wrong us as people hurt. US people say or do this or that brings a fence to us even as we read earlier in Matthew Chapter. Eighteen Verse Fifteen. If your brother sins against you God, help us to go to him. Go to her. Just like you teach us to do here in Matthew Eighteen and to go with a desire to forgive US spirit of forgiveness, the same kind of desire spirit there we see in you, God help us to reflect your love in this way. We pray that you would uncover. Any unforgiveness! Any bitterness that has a place in our minds, and our hearts are relationships right now, and you would remove it. And by the power of the Gospel. You would help us to forgive others as we have been forgiven. By you. May Be, so we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

"And gentleman there are three questions for Jesus and the one for us in Matthew chapter twenty two these three questions were brought on by the story of the wedding feast that the lord Jesus told so hear it again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king who made the marriage feast for his son and sent forth his servants to call them that will bitten and they would not come again he sent forth other servants that's the way the lord does it he sends forth service to do his work and if they can't get the job done he sends others to tell them there are bitten behold I have made ready my dinner my oxen and my front legs are killed at all things already come to the feast as the first invitation as says they would not come it was a defiant answer they said I won't do it that is the answer that many give today both in and out of the church as to repentance of sins and obedience to Christ in the scriptural baptism for the remission of sins the answer of many years I won't do it for the Christian Jesus has left off the ordinance of the lord's supper on the lord's day there are a great many things are clean the attention on the lord's day as far as the assembling of the lord's table is concerned and the answer comes through loud and clear I won't do it the second invitation receive a different refusal they made light of it whether way one went to his own farm another to his merchandise and the rest laid hold on his servants and treated him shamefully and killed them they made light of it the words of Jesus distill through the centuries reveal that people make light of god and they make light of the lord Jesus Christ they make light of the church they make light of the gospel they make light of everything spiritual they heard the gracious invitation I concluded it wasn't worth considering we have so many other interests that are far more important than wasting time in matters of faith man cannot afford to make light of spiritual matters according to the warning of James James are said to go to you you that say today and tomorrow we will go to the city that can continue there for a year or and buy and sell and get gain whereas you know not quite Shelby on the Morrow for your life is even as of late for it appears for a short while and then vanishes away you cannot afford to make light of spiritual matters but not only did some make light of it there were others who were aggressively arrayed against it they laid hold on his servants and treated them shamefully and killed them how about a militant atheist today how about the evolution of how both the laws that favor abortion the laws against prayer in the school system in America and the efforts to remove all mention of god from the declaration of independence and the constitution of the United States these efforts are made by the enemies of the Bible they hate god they hate the Bible they hate the lord Jesus Christ they are servants of the devil who are determined at all cost to fight their way into hell far then say if he unto his servants the wedding is ready but say that were bitten are not worthy go you therefore under the parting of the highways as many as you show fine to bid to the marriage feast and those servants went out into the highways and gather together all as many as they found both bad and good and the wedding was filled with you guessed ladies and gentleman they brought in two kinds of people bad than good centers come in those two classifications bed Dan good some senators are bad centers in some centers are good centers a bad center is described in first Corinthians five the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of god be not deceived neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor abusers of themselves with mankind northeast nor covetous nor drunkards norovirus nor extortion errors shall inherit the kingdom of god and such were some of you know those are the bad sinners but there are some good centers spoken of in the story of Cornelius he was a devoted man one that feared god with all his house prayed to god all worries and gave much alms to the people yet he was told to send for Peter that he might hear words whereby he might be saved he was a good center in need of salvation the one thing that bad centers a good centers have in common is the fact that they are both centers and going to hell if they are living without Christ so when the king came in to be hold against he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment and then decide friend how come a stallion heather not having a.

The Church's One Foundation (1 Corinthians 3:1011)

"First Corinthians chapter three versus ten and eleven according to the grace of God given to me like a skilled master builder. I laid a foundation and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it for no one can lay a foundation of than that which is laid. Which is Jesus? Christ these two verses are I don't overuse the word but they are foundational for understanding the Church and how the church is built so Paul talking about his work in Corinth in the days when the church there was founded and he said according to the grace of God given to me. I love that just the way. Paul always emphasizes how anything he has done is because of grace any thing he is doing is because of God's grace according to the grace given him like a skilled master builder so this is the way the Bible describes here in. First Corinthians chapter three verse. Ten a church planter as a master builder who is building the Church. Now it's really interesting because We think about language in Matthew Chapter Sixteen when Jesus I uses the Word Church and he says To Peter I tell you you are Your Peter and on this rock. I will build my church so Jesus built his church but here we see. First Corinthians chapter three verse ten that Jesus Builds Church through people through skilled master builders church planters. People were planting. A church are skilled master builders. And what's the foundation that they lay? He says I laid a foundation and no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid. Which is Jesus Christ so the foundation of the Church is Christ again? That's the whole point. Paul has been emphasizing all throughout. First Corinthians to this point because They were tempted to look at other people as the foundation of the Church's opposed to Jesus as the foundation and then he says so. I've like skilled master builder later. Foundation for the Church at Corinth and the foundation is Jesus. Then he says let each one take care how he builds upon it and that right. There is an extremely significant extremely important exhortation to every follower of Christ as we think about our membership in a church and particularly any level of leadership in the church that God gives to us but regardless of whether or not we're in a leadership position like we are responsible as followers of Jesus for building his church on the foundation of Jesus. And I Corinthians Chapter Three Verse Ten says let each one take care how he builds upon it so how the church is built on the foundation of Christ we do not have the option of building Jesus Church however we want however seems best to us according to the newest trends according to what we think will work best. We don't have that option. We are responsible for God for building the Church upon the foundation of Jesus in a way that accords with his word and his ways for his glory. So we'll dive and more as we flow in the rest of First Scranton's chapter three what that means. Let's just pause at this point in pray. God We WanNa be faithful to build your church. According to your word you're weighs upon the foundation of Jesus. We don't want there to be any other foundation. Help us to faithfully lay the foundation of Jesus in your Church and everything in your church may be driven by your word. Your ways keep us. We pray from trying to build your church. According to Man's ideas man's opinions man's preferences our ideas. Our opinions are preferences. May We throw those aside and may we be driven in every way by your word to build your church your way not our way. Oh God your way. Please help us. Please guide us in each of our churches to align with your word and God even as we pray for this we pray for places in the world where there is no church where no foundation she says even been laid for the call people in central North Central India millions of them. God and there is no church no known church among this people group. God police change that please. 'cause THE FOUNDATION OF JESUS Christ to be proclaimed and laid there among the call in India. Please raise up churches among the call and India according to your word for the display of Your glory among that people group God Palese we pray for the establishment of your church where the foundation Jesus in the call in India. Police God may be so and send out people from our churches to do it. We pray

Jesus Is In Your Boat

"Hey anyone the society slate V.. And today I just want to encourage you with the GOP devotional entitled Jesus is in Your Boat. You know. Everyone faces SOM- Assam type of challenging situation. That seems like a storm and these storms of life can cause one to question. Where is God in? Although life was never promised to be easy. There's a solution to facing every storm so today's focus is on how we conquer live. Storms and our food for them comes from the Word of God Matthew Chapter Eight Verses Twenty Three through twenty seven and it reads the we all got into a boat and began to cross over to the other side of the lake and Jesus exhausted fell asleep. Suddenly a violent storm arm developed with ways so high that the boat was about to be swamped yet. Jesus continue to sleep soundly. The disciples woke him up saying. Save US more. We're going to die but Jesus reprimanded them. Why are you gripped with fear? Where's your faith? Then he stood up Ami Group the storm and said be still an instantly it became perfectly. Calm the disciples. Cyprus were astonished by this miracle and sat to one another. Is this man even the wind and the waves over his word. Now my question to you all that are listening is are you having the reoccurring forecast storms in your life and are you facing some giant waves and wondering if you about to get wiped out life can change in an instant. You're riding easy one moment and face with us to Nami the next you may start to wonder when when brighter days coming stay but much like the disciples in Matthew Eight. They must have known but storms wouldn't come as long as they had Jesus in their boat. But then it's not so you know. Storms still coming. Even when you're walking with Jesus so how do we handle the storm supplying inferior do we handle it with a uncertainty aware. Our faith meter ranks. Consequently the disciples had common thousands of fear and little faith in the midst of the uncertain situation. However there there was listened to gain in that storm? Jesus pointed out that the disciples needed to remember one. Do not give into fear and and to stand in faith we must look through a constant lens of the Lord being with us in every situation we encounter. You know nothing is surprised to guy you know. He already is aware of the intensity of that storm. That's going on around you. Hence Jesus visit moved by the storms we face and neither should we. Sometimes we need reminding you know that the Lord is with us to resuscitate our faith and the reason we need faith during the storm is because we must believe that Jesus is greater. The word can come the storm. I'm simply because when God speaks everything always and everything something. Whatever he speaks is going to be four four in Jeremiah? One in twelve says. I am alert and active watching over my word to performing. That's says and therefore faith in Jesus should be so solid that win. The boat starts to overflow with water and the waves intensify. We should instantly Stanley Trust. Kahad are thought should be Jesus is immobile so I will trust him in this. Most assuredly God is always faithful full and he cannot fail so rest in him beloved if Jesus can restore storm you should take the hint rest best with all certainty that you are not alone in this. Nothing is too big for God and Jesus is enough. He is the word word. Furthermore always remember that all things are working for your good. That's a promise from which you can count on.

"Are you a fence sitter. If you're events that are today's scripture passages for you in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter Twenty one verse. I twenty three Jesus is being questioned. They WANNA know about is authority while he answers their question with a question. He says to the chief priests and the elders. I'm going to ask you one question and if you answer it then I will tell you. By what authority. I do these things the miracles and so forth that he's done so he poses a question back to them in it's about John the Baptist and whether his baptism was heavenly or of human origin and they get stuck they get stuck right in this question because if we answer it one way people are going to say. Why didn't you believe that John and was a prophet? Why didn't you believe that he was a heavenly origin? And if we answer it the other way they're going to say wait a minute. John was a prophet so either way. The answer this question the leaders are going to be stuck. So what do they do classic we do. I do not know. We don't know they don't answer it. They're stuck so as you and I are moving through advent I have question for you. How is your advent going? Are you getting ready for Christmas. But have you been preparing for the coming of Christ really repairing in your heart in your practices or did you get stock. Are you stuck. Are there questions. Are there questions wins that you just don't know which way to turn in so you do the classic I don't know do I believe in God and what does that that mean if I believe in God does that mean my whole life changes. What does that mean for me? Or if I don't believe in God what does that mean. Where am I going? What's happening after this life? If I don't believe in God we get stuck just like the chief priests and elders did we get stuck. Were sitting on the fence. Are you a fence sitter. Don't be offense at her because what happened at the end of this passage Jesus said to them. I'm not going to tell you by what authority I do. These things because you couldn't answer my question. We don't want that to be the response that Jesus has to us. Where are you how do I welcome you into the Kingdom you? You didn't know you didn't even try. You didn't change your ways please. Let's not be stuck and get an answer like neither either. Shall I tell you. By what authority do these things because that answer could be neither. Are you invited into the kingdom. I know no it's scary. I know it's negative and this is the week of rejoicing. I want you to be able to rejoice this week. I want you to get off the fence. It's it's not too late. Make your decision. Are you following God or are you not following God. Don't I'll be a fence sitter. This is a time of rejoicing. So I asked you to go ahead and turn back to the Gospel of Matthew Chapter Twenty one about the authority already of Jesus and.

"Dot com forward slash the bible dot net. And thank you. Let's get started in our study of Matthew chapter twenty. We do what we usually do when we introduce a new chapter. Let's take a look at two very different types of summaries. I a summary of the key words that we will find used in this chapter. And then second a summary of the key thoughts presented in the chapter. The first summary will give us an idea of the broad concepts that we will encounter as we read as we think. And as we study our way through this text the second. Summary will also provide a broad outline a bit more detail than our brief word study, but nowhere near the amount of detail that we will find as we engage in verse. By verse thought by thought study of Matthew chapter twenty we will begin that verse by Burs thought by thoughts study after we conclude these two summaries. Here's what we learned from the keyword. Studies of Matthew chapter twenty the three most frequently occurring terms in the chapter are Kerr, seventy two thirty nine and thirty two times, respectively for a total of one hundred and forty three of the five hundred and forty two words in the chapter those three terms account for a little more than one fourth of the total words, they are the words that have been translated as helping words where it's like the who which and but and the pronouns he she it and the like. As we have studied the terms used throughout Matthew's gospel, especially in the narratives in the discussions depict it as part of Jesus ministry the most frequently occurring term of significance. The words translated as to say speak tell that term appears nineteen times in Matthew chapter twenty. And as always that only makes sense when you consider the dialogue that occurs in the chapter either in real time, or as it was depicted within the parable that Jesus introduced at the start of the chapter seven of the nineteen occurrences are inside of that parable, the remaining twelve occur in the regular course of Jesus conversation with the disciples with the mother of James, and John and with the two blind men that Jesus healed the words translated as but or and or now appear fifteen times in the chapter. Remember? Over this term can be used as a simple conjunction usually translated as the words, and or now and occasionally as so or then as a connective the term moves the story along without necessarily breaking thought or introducing something new there are instances, however, when that term denotes a point of contrast, it's used in that sense usually translated as the word, but in Matthew chapter twenty verse thirteen verse twenty two and verse twenty five the word, usually translated as you either singular or plural in form appears fifteen times in Matthew twenty usually used when Jesus was addressing an audience it occurs. Like, the word translated as to say speak or tell that we noted earlier both within the kingdom of heaven parable. And in the context of the real time conversations recorded in the chapter the words for I. Are we occurred thirteen times? These terms reflect the ongoing nature of the very personal up close and in your face conversation that goes on continually in Matthew the terms for you. And these terms translated as I or we or my or mine indicate not only a sense of possession. But a sense of intense personal interest. We use the same words today, and for the same reasons the words rendered as to be or exist or some related form occur ten times in the chapter. Remember these words reflect a state of Bain that he is the way things are or were at a given point in time. Remember also that state of being words reflect not only the way things actually were. But also the way that they were supposed to be and that they do so without a specific connection to past present or future in. Other words, these terms can apply to all three timeframes. And finally these words are often used in a context of depicting some level of moral office reflecting either appropriate or inappropriate ethical situations and their related choices. And consequences. The words translated as into or two or four appear seven times in the text usually referring to the movement in and out of the vineyard by the workers. And then later as Jesus traveled toward Jerusalem. There are other interesting terms in the chapter, for example, the word for sun appears seven times three times in reference to the sons of Zebedee and then four times with reverence to Jesus as either the son of man or the son of David the words translated as want or will appear six times in Matthew twenty. Sometimes it refers to the perfect will of Jesus. And others to the worldly desires of the disciples as they seek positions of greatness. Because Jesus remains as the central character in the chapter. We should not be surprised that his name appears six times the words for not or no also appear six times, and as you would expect they were used to challenge the will of the Lord or to reflect the inappropriate wills and desires of others because of the kingdom of heaven as vineyard parable. We should not be surprised to read the word translated as vineyard five times in Matthew twenty one last word to consider the one translated as last it's the word Esca toss the word from which we get esque Atallah, Judy. The study of last things it was used in a physical sense with reverence to the order of the workers hired in the vineyard some were hired last. But it was also used in a figurative or paradoxical way in the conclusion to the kingdom of heaven as vineyard parable. We. We see it in Matthew chapter twenty verse sixteen so the last will be first and the first last for many are called but few chosen. Remember, these keywords summaries are just that summaries. They are an abbreviated way to get a glimpse of the subject matter in a given chapter and because they are abridged they do not give us the fullest sense of what's going on. They offer a window a small window into the chaper, but not a complete view for that we need to overview the chapter as a whole and then studied the chapter verse by verse and thought by thought both of those come next in our study of Matthew chapter twenty let's review Matthew chapter nineteen as a way to introduce Matthew chapter twenty Matthew chapter nineteen marked a major transition in the ministry of Jesus since the time of his baptism at the hands of John the baptism requires. Recorded in Matthew three thirteen and following. And the time of his temptation in the wilderness. Matthew chapter four verse one and following both of which took place in the southern province of Judaea. Jesus had spent most of his time ministering in the northern province of Galilee. As Matthew chapter nineteen opens Jesus had just completed his fourth major sermon, according to Matthew's account, Jesus then left Galilee, Jesus traveled to and then Jesus began preaching teaching and healing in the trans Jordan that was not Judea proper. No are the city of Jerusalem. But it was definitely a move in that direction. A significant portion of Matthew chapter nineteen details another of Jesus ongoing debates with the Pharisees this time about Moses certificate of divorce. A large section of the chapter starting with Matthew nineteen three documents Jesus interaction with the Pharisees about that specific question. The question of divorce one of the most significant principles to be gleaned. From this section of the chapter was this in response to the Pharisees question is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason? Jesus appealed to Genesis chapter two versus twenty three and following Jesus did so to show that God's initial intent relative to marriage was a one man one woman for live arrangement an arrangement that would not indeed could not be modified or nullified by anything afterward. Not even by Moses certificate of divorce. Course why then did Moses allow divorce it was as Jesus stated only because of Israel's hardness of heart that Moses at God's instruction permitted divorce. It was not done to sanction divorce universally or across the board. But rather to regulate and to restrict it for the protection of the innocent, and to maintain at least some semblance of connection with God's original intent recorded in Genesis, two Jesus, contrary to the divorce for almost any reason mindset that some religious leaders argued for most notably the school of Hillel Jesus stated that marital infidelity and marital infidelity alone could or would serve as a legitimate reason for divorce that restrictive stance prompted the disciples to wonder whether or not anyone should marry later in Matthew nineteen after Jesus extolled the value of being childlike. Be part of the kingdom of heaven. He was approached by a man who asked what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life in the conversation that followed Jesus instructed this young man to keep the commandments when the man asked which ones Jesus cited half of the ten commandments followed by the second. Great commandment love your neighbor as yourself the man who said that he had kept the commandments from my youth press for more and asked Jesus what he was missing Jesus who knew both the man's heart and his financial situation told the man to sell what he had to give the proceeds to the poor. And then follow after him. The text tells us that the young man went away sorrowful for he had great possessions. The final section of Matthew nineteen starts with these words. Then Jesus said to his disciples assuredly. I say to you. That it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew, nineteen Twenty-three that message triggered a discussion between Jesus and his disciples about who could be saved. What was possible for God? But impossible for ma'am, a question about what the disciples would ultimately receive for following Jesus. And then finally Jesus assurance that his followers would be justly blessed? What we read at the conclusion of Matthew chapter nineteen set the stage for what we I read as we begin. Our study of Matthew chapter twenty how so Matthew nineteen closes with a discussion about what it takes to enter the kingdom of heaven as well as what blessings will come to those who do enter Matthew twenty opens with another kingdom of heaven parallel. And as in the closing section of Matthew nineteen it also addresses, the blessings that will come to those who. Enter the kingdom, but it does. So with a major twist as Matthew nineteen closes we read. So Jesus said to them assuredly, I say to you that in the regeneration when the son of man sits on the throne of his glory. You who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel, and everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my namesake channel receive a hundred fold and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last and the last first that's Matthew nineteen versus twenty eight to thirty Jesus said this in response to the disciples question. See we have left all and followed you therefore what shall we have Jesus told the disciples that they would be blessed to sit on thrones judging the twelve..

The process for extracting, the sap of these trees is essentially identical harvesters make a longitudinal cut in the tree's trunk which pierces gun resin reservoirs located within the bark the sap slowly uses out from the cut and drips down the tree forming tear-shaped droplets, they're left to harden on the side of the tree. These beans are collected after two weeks people in east Africa and the Arabian peninsula, had produced frankencense and Merv for some five thousand years for much of this time these. Medic resins were the region's most important commodity with a trade network that reached across Africa, Asia and Europe today.
