"Actor Richard belzer, also known as munch on SVU, has died. CBS News correspondent. Matt piper has a look back. Richard belzer, the comedian and actor best known for his role as detective John munch on the Law & Order franchise has died See, that's my problem in life. CBS News has learned he died surrounded by family in the South of France. He played that detective role on homicide life on the street from 1993 to 1999. He then continued the role on the Law & Order series, appearing in the show's first episode in 1993. With another day of massive flight cancellations, thousands of passengers remain stranded by Southwest Airlines more from kcbs Jim Taylor. Say you are one of those unfortunate stranded by a Southwest cancellation. For now, give up on Southwest. Clint Henderson, senior news editor at the points guy. I would rebook myself on a competing airline. I would keep receipts of every single thing you have had every cost you've had to incur during this meltdown. And what does southwest doing to address some of those issues? Set up a page where you can submit receipts for extra costs that you've incurred and will be really pressuring southwest over the coming weeks and months to make sure they're reimbursing passengers for the disruptions. But bigger picture, longer term, can southwest win back consumer confidence after this fiasco. The southwest sticks to its word and will reimburse for quote unquote reasonable expenses. If all those people are made right, I think that will help repair some of the damage. But I think you're already starting to see political pressure on southwest to do some things that maybe didn't want to do before. Like interline with other airlines to better accommodate stranded passengers, Jim Taylor. There was one Southwest flight headed for the Bay Area that did get off the ground Tuesday only to turn back about two hours into a 5 hour flight. Southwest says the flight from Honolulu to Oakland returned to Honolulu because of a conflict between two customers that caused a disturbance the flight was rescheduled for yesterday it isn't clear if the passengers were given accommodations. Now this is the first tournament since the Supreme Court's decision to end the federal ban on sports betting in 2018 and allowed a growing list of states to legalize it and estimated 132 million now live in states or sports betting is legal compared with just 10 million during the last World Cup four years ago. "Senate with 15 Republicans joining all 50 Democrats in voting for the Bill, more from CBS's Matt piper. House speaker Nancy Pelosi says the house will vote on the gun bills sometime Friday. Democrats do hold a slim majority in the House, so assuming it passes, they will then send it to the president's desk for his signature. The bill has expanded background checks and what's called a boyfriend loophole where convicted domestic violence offenders are denied guns if they have a current or past continuing series relationship of a romantic or intimate nature with their victim. The Supreme Court has struck down a New York State law that restricted who could obtain a permit to carry a concealed gun in public. Jeff Nguyen reports now on what that means for California, which has a similar law. Of California's 58 counties 37 already grant permits simply if an applicant requested for self defense. The other 21 counties, including Los Angeles, have tighter standards. For example, requiring applicants to demonstrate that they have business related or professional risks that justify them being armed. Former Justice Department officials told a January 6th investigating committee about how then president Trump pressured them to help him overturn the presidential election. Former acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen and his deputy explained why they refused. But I did not want for the Department of Justice to be put in a posture where it would be doing things that were not consistent with the truth. Despite that, he says the president persisted threatening to fire him and his team, another revelation several Republican congressmen asked for presidential pardons for their roles in trying to help Trump. Former NBA Star Cedric Ceballos Battling COVID-19: 'My Fight Is Not Done'
"For prayers after spending several days in the hospital battling Covid 19 former NBA players. Cedric Ceballos has spent the last 11 days hospitalized in an intensive care unit with Covid 19, he announced on Twitter. The 52 year old is asking his friends and family for prayers while sharing a photo of him with breathing tubes. On August 27th, the former NBA star first announced he had contracted Covid on Instagram, forcing him to cancel a scheduled meet and greet At the time, he told fans he was at home after a hospital visit and was hopeful for a quick recovery.
