Fresh update on "matt ryan" discussed on WEEI Show

"Thank you for taking my call. So I just wanted, like, point out like something that I really liked about game one was the Russian attack. Our defense is looking really strong. Um, Okay, So you're a Patriots fan? Your patriots. Okay? I've been a Patriot fans a little. But watching the two years ago when we made our Super Bowl run, people think that Tom Brady was the reason why we won that Super Bowl. It wasn't that he had a strong running game and probably one of the best run rushing attacks in football. That year, so he was able to lean on that rushing attack, which is in great defense from our defensive side of the ball, All right, That's why they That's how they beat Kansas City They held on the ball for the entire first half. And held the lead and and can on Batre. Mahomes had to watch. Ah, and eventually you can only stop or slow down homes for so long. He got it together in the second half, but that, but so did Brady. Soda bread. EEOC Gronkowski on that long past, also And what they were able to what he was able to do get the ball in overtime. They got the ball. They never gave it back. They went down and scored in that was it. Moments never got a rebuttal in that FC championship game, and then they change the overtime rule because of it. Or least try Tio. So And then and then I guess I could say the Super Bowl to that year they what was a 13 3. Tony Michelle. There has been a bad first round pick mean that that is not That is not Yielded Patriotsoffense. They've not gotten out of that what they thought. About what? I have not seen, I think Have not seen a running back. You take a running back in the first round. Now, he better be elite. He better be one of the best in football, and Michelle isn't even close to that. In fact, he's not even the best running back on the roster. And that's why they went out. Okay, We don't have running backs that can really run the ball. Let's get a quarterback who can Matt is in Massachusetts on CBS Sports radio map. Hi, Angela. Look, I don't want to believe that the Patriots are gonna you know, be successful with radium and jammed together, but I'm not gonna lie to you. I have strong reservations about Playing Seattle tomorrow night because it's got necessarily because I just don't think fella check And putting good game point together. I know we can put the game point together. I just don't think he Cal is gonna let him do rather Buck away. Miami's let him buy the buck last week. Why do you say that? What we make? What makes you think Seattle is goingto? I mean Seattle for everything you say they're about their defense. Let's not forget that Matt Ryan threw for 450 yards last week against him against them. I had 3 100 yard receivers. Their game. They won that game because Russell Wilson was almost perfect. That's why they won. And they played with lead. And they were ahead the whole time. And that's how they were able to win that game. They were really Yes, Russell Wilson. They had to keep scoring and had to keep making plays. But they were really never in trouble. Maybe their defense because of that. Didn't always Exerts the most pressure. Jamal Adams. A problem. Here's here's what I love about that game is I'm not a Patriots fan, but here's What I see about that game that sticks out to me. Jamal Adams had to make 12 tackles. And so I've heard some people who didn't watch that game. Now I go back and watch every game. I've had people that didn't watch that game who have looked at Adams. Performance. Just the box score. Trump tackles Oh, man. What a great signing. That. I mean, what? Excuse me. What a great trade. What a great move to go out and get Jamal Adams and I'm not. I'm not questioning or debating whether or not there was a smart decision by Seattle. You go get one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. It was What I'm telling you is when a safety has to make 12 tackles in a game. That means the guys in front of them sucked. That's what that means. You know what you never want to see. You never want to see even if it's a box safety. You don't want to see a safety. Having to make that many place. That's what Atlanta It was 450 yards from met Ryan. So I expect Pete Carroll is not gonna put Cam Newton in a straitjacket. Now Atlanta wants to throw the ball all the time, even with girly that's dirt cutter that for offensive coordinator that they believe in And I think it's look, I think it's hard. I think it's hard in the NFL. To go from one week facing a team that on Lee wants to throw the ball. Now you've got to get your defence ready. For a team that's gonna force you to make tackles the entire game. I'm going to force you to bring down the ball carrier on every play. That's what New England is going to demand out of Seattle. I don't think there's gonna be a lot of incompletions. I think Seattle's defense better. Better. You know, they'd better button up their chin strap for this game because it's going to be physical. I think that's one of the things doing one is trying to do this year that I agree with everybody else in the league. Wants to get smaller and faster. They want to get tougher. And if Newton can can stand up to the pounding, which is the biggest question, I think what they've got. They've got a big look at their guards. They've got a big, tough team they franchise take their guard. If they went with stick him. I would have told you maybe a nine and seven team with I think Newton is worth at least two wins. Two more wins..

Two Seattle Seahawks earn Player of the Week honors after dominant Week 1 win

"Maybe, the most impressive team of the day was Seattle. Russell Wilson was thirty one of thirty, five, Oh my God for three, hundred, twenty, two, yards, four touchdowns no picks. That's ridiculous. Thirty one of thirty five metcalf picked up where he left off big day and they destroyed Atlanta and and I think that NFC west is just going to be fascinating all year long Seattle's not going to have a home field advantage. You're not GonNa have that twelfth man thing they got going out there but man, they're they're good and they're a veteran team I I think Seattle. Really is going to be a very difficult to deal with this year that quarterback may be in the prime of his career right now what year nine for him it is e was so special in that game. He was so good. It's just he's. Become. So, much fun to watch play fast the operates and how he's really gotten such a feel for the game. Become what Sean mcvay would call an extension of the offensive coordinator He's in control. It was also game that Matt Ryan threw for four, hundred, fifty they were down I mean, Julio Jones, at Fifty Ridley at one, hundred, thirty gauge to gauge at and fourteen. They, Have Hayden hearst they IRV Smith I think Atlantic could be good. Defense has been a problem for a while which is weird because it's Dan Quinn to think about that. which was Laying the first coordinator when the seahawks became. Great. Exactly.

David Archer previews the Atlanta Falcons

"The Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well. Thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley We don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from l. A to Atlanta for this upcoming season? Well, be honest with you. I think we're expecting a lot of early and mainly in the Red zone. If you look at Todd Gurley's numbers, even with with so called quote unquote down near Around 900 yards rushing, still had 12 touchdowns. All 12 of those touchdowns came in the red Zone, and I think that Atlanta if they could find a way to run the football down close Help three up the talented weapons that Ryan has on the perimeter. Now, listen, you have a little bit more of a potent attack a little bit more looking a little bit more like what? You looked like a 16 when Avante Freeman and Tevin Coleman. We're carrying the ball down there close and created that problem in the run game. Atlanta has not had that over the last couple of seasons. I think that's where they expect Todd Gurley to make his main hey is down there in the red Zone. With the way that you probably have to manage his reps as a running back the rest of the running back room. Is there something that jumps out to you? Yeah, I think it's a good group. Really Do I think that when you look at Brian, Ill in the way, Brian Gillis Kamani together that Hawkins drafted a couple of years ago, Brian Handsome solid moments a year ago. Quadri Allyson. Kid at Pittsburgh rookie from a year ago. Uh, kind of woke himself. A little bit of a roll is a short yardage guy. £225 Goal line Guy, four touchdowns. Hopefully, you know, Smith can come back. He was injured in the game a year ago. I believe against the Rams in which he was trying to pick up a Blitzer, which he shouldn't be here should be doing, but he is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. And a good change of pace back at the back, So they get to three young guys that I think you could lean on. And like you said, Take some of that. Load off. Assad, Girl. Let's get to the next down. And when we do so, we take a look at Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The two big names in that organization. Do you still believe that this team could be a play off team once again with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? I do, but it's you know, obviously, it's about you know your supporting cast and you do some things on the other side of the ball, and I'm sure there's a question you've got to worry about the defense's side the football, But there there's a little area in the offensive line. The left guard has been a little bit leaky, right guard's been a little bit leaky because of some injuries and things that they could shore up that into your part of the offensive line. Ryan's Like most classic quarterbacks climb in the pocket. They got to be able to give him that opportunity. Do so if you get into your pressure and accurate from problems, one game will help in that regard, but Yeah. Julio Jones, 16 seconds, 1300 yard seasons. Matt Ryan, nine consecutive 4000 yard seasons. I don't see the one those guys backing off. When you talk about that offensive line to follow up on that I'm a big fan of Matt Hennessy. Being a temple grad, really smart football player puts in a lot of work. Is he going to make an immediate impact in your number one? Yeah, There's always a question that he's certainly in the mix to be the starting guard. There's no question about that. I think that there's ah lot excitement around when he brings the table and and obviously the heir apparent, Alex Mack, probably its center. So Alex back in a little bit longer to still have a good football any But I need to put some guys around him that Khun taken, it could be in there and we had German Brown and James Carpenter guys that could not stay on the field. There was some solid moments from those two big veteran players, but they did not stay on the field and consistency. In the interior specialist that left guard spotted Kennedy ultimately will probably win that job and be the starter that guard let's get to the next down. All right, David Archer. When they flip the switch here and go to the other side of the ball defensively, it was an up and down year for the defense, but it seemed like they did finish in a better spot than what they did earlier on in the season. You could probably say that for the entire team with the Atlanta Falcons this division. Is loaded with offensive talent. You know what the Saints are. Now you have Tom Brady and the division with Tampa Bay, and I'll be curious to see what Teddy Bridgewater does with the Panthers. What's your read on the Falcons defense entering 2020 Well, it's an uncertain situation obviously went on God. Dante Fowler, Dad's pressure off the edge contact. McKinley realized what they thought they had when they drafted him a couple of years and the number one spot picked up Charles Haley, who, ironically, was in the same draft. And raided a route the same attack McKinley are Charles Harris. I'm sorry. Charles. Charles Charles Haley. Right way. I'd like to have the guy that was rushing the pastor there for both the Cowboys in the 40 Niners. That would be great, but Harris. He does have some raw talent there. Can't he realize that I'm the Falcon Tutelage will have to wait and see Grady dear. It's an emerging star in the tackle position and Marlon Davidson, Vienna and an interesting ad, a guy that has the versatility to play inside. Maybe in past situations and also play the perimeter as a 34 defensive didn't run down situations. The answer at all Burn second round draft pick of the fact that they think they've upgraded their defensive line. It'll have to be upgraded because you get extremely young secondary. Probably gonna have a rookie a corner starting your nickels, a second year guy in your other corners of third year, guys, So there's a lot of young players on the perimeter need to get some pass rush speed up the thought process for the quarterback. Let's get to the final down. Alright. I'm surprised that Dan Quinn is Bacca's the head football coach for the Lancer Falcons. What does he have to do this year to keep his job and Is that seats the warm because, like I said, I was surprised that they brought him back for this year. It is warm. I think that it's fortunate they brought him back because of the current situation with the pandemic and the uncertainties, so some continuity certainly has played into Atlanta Falcons off season. I think they've had a solid offseason, much as you can, with the limitations. They're attached to this year, So I think that it was good in retrospect that, uh, Mr Black decided to keep Dan Quint on, but I think he's got there. They've got a bit pushed for a playoff spot. I think they've got to be. They can't come out of the box one in seven. It's got to be a team. It's in the hunt of the entire way. As you said, it's going to be outstanding division with outstanding quarterback play, but they have to be in the hunt to be a part of the postseason play. If they do that. And I think the fans will be a little bit of stab on the wound for the fans. But if you get out to a slow start, it would not surprise me. If if Mr Blank made some kind of decision mid season on coach Boy and I think, coach when is the right guy for the job Now it's put up or shut up. He scored a touchdown will go for two here Oscar. One more question This team was 11 5 We all know the deal they were in the Super Bowl blew the 28 23 lead. The next year, they did go 10 and six, the last two years. It's seven and nine. If you had to identify the biggest reason why this team has regressed, and I know they've had some injuries to but overall if it's not the health of the team, what's the biggest thing that you look at? Why this team wasn't able to recreate that magic from 2016 and 2017? I think their inconsistency ball on both sides of the football in conversion, down situations and in the red zone. I think Atlanta's done a great job of moving the ball from 20 to 20 But when they get in the red zone, they bogged down and settle for too many threes. And I think in turn the defense's side of the football. What about 22 23 scoring defense coming up 25 points a game. They've got to find a way to get more stops in the red zone. That's probably the answer that you could probably get from all teams struggled and not made the playoff teams, but I certainly think That that's identifiable with the Falcons over the last couple years, the inability down deep in the red Zone both on offensive defense, Julio Jones, he's Ah Hall of Fame player. We all know that one of the better wide receivers in the league He's only had one year of double digit touchdowns, going back to 2012 when he had 10 TUC maybe 10 touchdowns in his fortunes this year. Well, I think he's certainly capable of it. But you got an outstanding receiver on the other side of Calvin Ridley, who's realized his abilities down in the red Zone Pretty close. I think Aidan hearse is going to be a seamless transition from Austin Hooper tight end spot So there are a lot of weapons from that Ryan to get the football too. Don't forget Todd Gurley and how good he is at the back catching the football as well. So I I would say no, I think he's going to be 89 touchdowns. I don't think he goes double digits, but I think there's a lot of guys around him. They're going to score touchdowns. Look for guys somewhere between 13 14 guys catch touchdown passes issue. Say that we appreciate it. Thanks so much. You be well, my

Dallas Cowboys VP Stephen Jones says QB taking up big percentage of salary cap 'decreases your chances to win'

"Stephen Jones adding this on the pro. Football talk podcast. There's all sorts of analytics out there that show if your quarterback takes too big a percentage of your salary cap. It decreases your chances to win. We're just trying to figure out the right fit. No one wants to sign to a longer term deal more than Jerry and myself. We're on the record time and time again of what we think of him. As the leader he has the it factor. He's a fierce competitor. He wants to win as well. It's just got to be right for him and right for us. We'll continue to work to a conclusion on that any may be onto something. According to Roster Management System Matt Ryan 2016. Sixteen the last quarterback to make the playoffs in a season where he took the highest percent of his team salary. Cap Ryan is the only qb in the last seven years to make the post season with the teams highest percentage again of his team's Recap Jeff. Saturday having heard all that should take less money to give this team. More flexibility as it would seem Stephen. Jerry suggests

Falcons could field an offense with 11 first-round draft picks

"So we had a truck a couple of signings by the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend right to pick up tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens and they also acquired look Kwan Treadwell a former number one pick for the Minnesota Vikings yeah as the Atlanta falcons roster currently stands right now on offense alone just on offense they have a Levin former first round picks all of these former first round picks quarterback Matt Ryan first round pick Todd Gurley who sign when he was released first round pick Julio Jones first round pick Calvin Ridley first round pick the Quantrill first round pick Hayden Hurst first round pick left tackle Jake Matthews first round pick left guard James carpenter first round pick center Alex Mack former first round pick Chris Lindstrom the right guard former first round pick and right tackle Caleb McGary also that he first started his first round eleven is incredible let them all eleven of them a former first round pick I mean there's no way that's ever happened before right I can't believe that what ever but here's the real question if you had to redraft everyone of these players how many would be former first rounder this okay because I think this is fair Lidstrom McGarry and carpenter I've always been really what one or two years no it's been really since two thousand eleven okay yeah so let's remind me Gerry I think you were taken off or taken them out yeah okay so all of the other nine how many would be redrafted as a first round what's what's going on it's not right absolutely no question that runs for Todd Gurley no yeah I I would say no I would sit well I would say no one quite frankly his a conversation about the value of the position in general could also affect the new with him that was the thing coming out of college yes I look he has fifty eight rushing touchdowns over his first whatever seasons and all the other ones are either in the hall of Famer going let me just say six are we saying first rounder today or go back to the beginning again it would re drawing back to the beginning again because I'm currently the way Todd Gurley came out I mean would you not still take him in the first one that's the question now right are you going to pay for that kind of production from a running back anymore we saw Christian McCaffrey Leonard for net like there's been plenty examples of even a legal or not re signing a big second contract drafting a great one of the first round can still benefit you a lot okay I'm just trying to get to it you know is that what they've done in their right career does that mean where are the first roll worthy to me the girly thing is to your point he had a knee injury coming out of college and right when they signed with the red sign that long term deal with they're trying they got out of now then he was going to be chronic so to me the top group member he was the first one that airports reset the market for running backs and it turned out no he just re establish the old line of thinking but that first three years of production would you that would you spend a first round pick on that because we saw that rand's office how much in common now it always goes like this with the running game but in combination with an offense of line that did really well what you brought into what worth over would you pay for that as the foundation of your off I'm beginning to go the Melkite around here that I'm not sure running back as well because Melvin Gordon was in that same draft and Melvin Gordon is on his team I got an extreme I think that's the biggest conversation we could take out of this is the running back position record number mellow one point eighty never take a running back in the first Rana I wonder for we're slowly but surely going back to it I mean there was a contract a couple years ago with the first running back off the board was late second round out of Tennessee and I think we're going back to that after a bevy running backs being taken so we were definitely in on Matt Ryan yes we're out on Todd Gurley a legit is amazing looking back at Todd Gurley's draft class there's not a lot of got like if you're talking about reworking the top ten Todd Gurley might be the most wealthy in that group maybe outside of Amari Cooper yeah we can we can have that discussion later because that's in it read graphic I think is always fast and you have to wait a certain amount of time Julio Jones know quite well right Calvin Ridley first round too early again I think it's too early last year what he had sixty three receptions okay just under nine hundred okay seven touchdowns I would mean he also can't account for how bad that team ask me yes or no right now I'd say yes but I still think it might be too early Hayden Hurst no not because look they they took marketers later in the draft in the third round he clearly became the tight end of Baltimore which made Hayden Hurst by the way has taken in the first row before Lamar Jackson R. Jackson for Lamar starting you know tight on that team right now marketers you said right Hayden Hurst also dealt with some injuries and stuff there too that's okay in perfect sample size and when you have a guy come on like marquetry who could predict that the way that offense ended up of what he was the Mackey award winner a what he was coming home with one truck will no no Jake Matthews yes I think so I think so I think so do not I meet yeah yeah I mean yes he's been there he's been there is a second contract I also wrote a like doesn't miss a lot of games he's he's dependable yeah I think that's what it our printer are probably not I mean he's he's been a guy that's been in the league for nine years now dependable guy but we're talking about first round right you know I mean when you're twenty four we'll talk about for sure we're talking about top ten picks like a lot yeah yeah yeah I I'd probably lean toward no on that as well yeah yeah Alex Mack yeah absolutely yeah yeah and then the other than what we remember and I think Lidstrom would be headed in that direction yeah kill the guy who's more reach last year get killed the one I have questions about obviously we know the health concerns that existed before the draft earning a hard issue that he had had to deal with early in this time oxygen so there's a lot to hash out with those two but just I mean blows off the page when you just read that number the every single hundred dinners with that crew yeah what eleven Ryan still got its still on that ride to reach for the paycheck first but everyone else has to at least go for their wallets and act like there's also a common I do with you know with my dad so you got rid you got Ridley help you got got this R. Ridley Hearst links from a Gerry all still on their rookie deals you know wrecked yeah everybody else is is all for them yeah if I'm looking at yes correct so yeah they're all fascinating eleven a former first rounders on

Jaguars ship Nick Foles to Bears, one year after signing him to $88m deal

"Radio Brady of course not the only quarterback who's on the move this week Evers teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota and now Nick Foles balls is heading to Chicago the bears pulling off a trade with Jacksonville Chicago gives up a compensatory fourth round pick in return for getting Nick Foles so what happens now in Chicago here's our Mike Tannenbaum and feel gates there's a restart because in in our last show we had a debate about whether we think this is Nick Foles job immediately or whether we think this is competition to pursue the starting job and he admits will battle it out during offseason workouts if we have them and then eventually during training camp if that goes on as scheduled I look at it like this the bears were settling if they stuck surface did that with Mitch Trubisky yep the rosters to well fortified in too many spots and there were too many obvious concerns and trade you're right right pace may forever have to live with the idea that he took Mitch Trubisky ten slots ahead of Patrick Mahomes and deshaun Watson we get and traded up one of the first round pick to move up one slot to get him really I'm just gonna put but it's over it's done with that I've been two thousand and seventeen fun ways to win football games and salvage I mean it and we talk about this during lunch again the like you know Matt Ryan pays to be feeling the heat a little bit right now right he knows he's got to win this year and this division is not a cake walk you've got a good Vikings team made the playoffs last year an actual Packers team within its energy efficient game last year this is not an all in move but this is a movie you have to make to put yourself back in the mix to be competitive and allow yourself to playing January football Soldier Field again they had to make so I had to make a move etrade you said what is it on the play calling which basically was a three year starter they had one winning season when I was at the Dauphin two years ago were playing against him we want him to throw the ball down the field to the left he couldn't do that he he was thirtieth in the league in average yards per attempt that's a critical statistic that compresses the field and the other thing about Ryan pace the fields point which is your locker room keeps your general manager there is a check and balance they have a championship defense to Ryan pace's credit he could walk into that locker so he felt we could go win with Mitch Trubisky after we have three years of a sample set now you walk and say Hey this guy's won a Super Bowl we have a real chance now it injects energy into that whole program it also has three years left on the contract with twenty one million guaranteed the falls also has the ability now to avoid the deal after either of the first two years in Chicago depending on his

Cowboys may use both tags on Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper

"The final year specifies that each of the NFL's thirty two teams can use both the franchise and transition tags this particular offseason that historic guarantee. If you don't know what that is you know franchise in transition tags in general I mean we. We have all sorts of information if you really want to understand the depths of them but in general the franchise and transition tag are ways that NFL teams can protect players that are set to be free agents. If you don't WanNA player to hit free agency you don't want me hit the open market. Bam you slapped a franchise or transition tag on them and typically generally only one is available to each NFL team so you have to pick which player you want to place a franchise tag on right or transition. Whatever the movie and so the fact that all. Nfl teams would be able to utilize both of them. This offseason really served as an incredible asset for the cowboys wrote about this last year. We wrote about this in March. Nineteen how we talked about then. Hey next offseason. The cowboys could have this really awesome tidbit in the that was the title of the article. That could really help them. Because of the cowboys find themselves in a position and we we kind of forecast this year ago where they have three big players that new contract extensions that are set to be true free agents Dak Prescott Amari Cooper and Byron Jones. You knew that and so while you can shake combination however you want in all likelihood the Dallas cowboys were going to Franchise Tag Prescott because it seems incredibly unlikely that deal done before that happens. Before the franchise tag deadline and then they were going to place the transition tag on either Amari Cooper or Byron Jones. Whoever you believe more likely personally I believe it was Amari Cooper but that would prevent both of those players from hitting the open market. Which means the cowboys could protect them. That's a big deal in. It seems like in this again. My personal opinion and and other people it'd be to share these thoughts and certainly a lot of our readers and commenters and listeners but a lot of people had kind of sort of made the assumption that the cowboys have accepted that they're going to lose Byron Jones. And you know what I think. I think I speak for all of us. That are listening. Here we're all gathered around the campfire. You know what if the cowboys is Byron? Jones not ideal but at least they have Dakhil these they have. They can figure this out. Maybe they spend their first round. Pick on cornerback. Whatever not trying to get to far into those weeds but the ability to keep both deck and Amari was and is a gigantic advantage. That the cowboys have going for them. How ever if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached in so far again at the time of this recording. We have the half that the owners have to comply with if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached it will essentially rendered the ability for teams to use both tags moot and they will revert to normal circumstances where there can only place one tag on one player. Now if you have not out by now you need to know that this hypothetical world which is I would say somewhat imminent in somewhat inevitable based on the rates that the collective bargaining agreement is happening and again as we sit on Thursday night. There's so many players kind of tweeting that they don't like the new. Cba proposal and whatnot so there could be some back and forth but if this is finalized before free agency and there's still a couple of weeks and those are going to be very important weeks then. Dak Prescott has all of the leverage in the world and all of the leverage in the world and we touched on this at the end of Thursday's episode because if that's the case and you and I were representing Dak Prescott. Then guess. What our point in our proposal to Jerry Jones Stephen Jones in the cowboys organization? Hey Dude if you don't if you don't get a deal done with us if you don't give deck all the money's basically you're going to have to tag them we all know that and if you tag back guess what you cannot tag anybody else if you tag back. Guess what. Amari Cooper and Byron Jones are going to be true free agents. You're going to be competing with the market for them. That is not ideal and other cowboys went from a world where they were probably going to lose one of the two. Probably going to be Byron Jones right to now that could potentially lose both of them which which would be a complete and utter disaster. And you know you can. You can play hindsight's twenty twenty but if the cowboys had just up to their contract offer to Dak Prescott Uruguay. I mean. We're talking thirty. Three thirty four million dollars per year. Everybody freaked out about that last year. That would look like such a bargain out. That's what happens with these deals. We've talked about that Matt Ryan to use thirty million dollars annually. Everybody freaked out now. That looks super cheap. And if the cowboys had done that they would have the ability to use the franchise tag on either Amari Cooper or Byron Jones win this ultimate sort of hypothetical becomes a reality and they would theoretically only lose one. Maybe not even either. So now the cowboys win till the eleventh hour is going to cost them in a literal financial sense where they're gonNA have to pay Dak Prescott more money and it could cost them in the capacity that they are now going to lose Byron Jones. And maybe even Amari Cooper now I should say that there is a a ray of hope. I suppose because you know look you may think this and I don't mean new but I mean I mean other person the other person here my think Jerry Jones is just. You know the cowboys. They don't know what they're doing. They're messing up. But there is a possibility. Because Jerry Jones is typically a big proponent for things like this the specialty. Nfl adding another wildcard round and round and other wildcard teams. A seventeenth game that is upping the value for every NFL owner. Jerry Jones is obviously very involved when I was on. Espn San Antonio on Thursday. We head John Maclean from the Houston Chronicle legendary. Nfl reporter one of the best. Ever do it and I John. I said look you know. Is it possible? The Jerry Jones kind of knew that this was coming that he was going to lose his ability to use both tags and somewhat prepared. Here's John Maclean said on. Espn Antonio John. You mentioned the The franchise transition tag loophole. That may be filled up and unavailable to the cowboys. Now maybe I'm giving Jerry Jones and co a little bit too much of the benefit of the doubt here. But in your estimation do you think that they you know Jerry Jones at least and we don't know the way the votes win but that he would seemingly be at the very least somewhat in support of this which would negate the ability to tag to players if he did not have a plan in place to at the very least keep one or two of these. You know high price three free agents. They have Adak Amari. I'm Byron Jones before the Franchise. Tag deadline that that's a great point. Jerry Jones. One of the movers and shakers in driving this agreement and even though it could hurt him. But I think Jerry all along you can't keep everybody I expect them to Cape Prescott and probably Cooper if Byron Jones those on the market. He's got a chance to be is defensive defensive back in yesterday I think teams are going to line up to give him a record-breaking deal. I don't think they would do that. With the Mario Cooper. There's too many good receivers. It's a great year for receivers coming out the draft. It's a good year for corners. If you don't mean Horn and the top after the first round so say they let Burne Jones go say the replacing with a cheaper free agent or they go after a corner in the draft and they can even train them they might have their pick of all of them no big deal John Maclean said it was a great point no big deal deal no big deal but anyway I think that if you're looking again if you're trying to be positive trying to be optimistic. I think there are two things to note one is that this is not probably not a surprise to cut the cowboys. Brass right like they had to have known that the collective bargaining agreement could be You know a a new one could be struck and therefore the ability that they were potentially leaning on to utilize both tags would be rendered moods and so they had to potentially be prepared for that. Maybe they all prepared for that. Maybe the preparedness is the preparedness to lose both Byron Jones in Amari Cooper. Who knows the other thing is that Adam schefter head tweet about this where he said Some something to the effect of if there's a new CBA expect a flurry of roster moves. And it's possible that you know we. We've heard so much about how different players in different guys and especially quarterbacks are awaiting the new CBA strike new contracts because they want a piece of whatever. The new percentages that players are going to get and whatnot and so we'll see so it also is possible that maybe the deal lanes right after the new. Cba struck because maybe DAX team is waiting for a new CBA to all to make their move. So who knows? But that's the positive side of things if you're trying to be positive so it is what it

Falcons stun Saints to end six-game skid

"On any given Sunday anything can happen. I get that. But the Falcons defense with an inspired effort. They sacked your breeze. Six Times. New Orleans didn't score single touchdown and maybe there's something about division match ups here. Mike Atlantic gets up for a game against Orleans. A snap the Saints Six Game Winning Streak Matt Ryan Twenty Thirty Five I for one eight one two and a couple of touchdowns for the saints finished with just three hundred ten yards. It's well below. The average of three seventy five is really just divisional matches because Atlanta certainly looked. Inspired up there Dan. Quinn was fired up on decent. Today I was talking about. Hey I would take the falcons in the thirteen and a half. Because I thought the Falcons would back door cover right. I never thought the Falcons would be able to hold the saints for Three for twelve third out and over three on fourth down. I mean think about that. That's remarkable right. I mean this Falcon Defense can't get any pressure. On the quarterback they had sixteen passes broken up the entire year. They can't even get their hands on the football. And yet they turn this thing around and they just stoned it and I think the hard party people think when you have a by people think that you know it gives you chance your team regroups. I think you lose your focus a little bit as a team and I think that the saints went away on their Bhai because you have to give the players four days off. They kind of read their press clippings they thought everything was okay. They're coming to play a SHITTY team like Atlanta. You know and it's not going to be that hard and we'll just we'll turn Alon whenever we need to and they got themselves caught and like you said in a divisional game these things really matter. I mean I don't think people from the northeast understand the rivalry between LEAN ATLANTA NEW ORLEANS. It goes back to when they were in the old. NFC West remember when when when the NFC west was Atlanta New Orleans San Francisco and the rams how that was the West. I I have no idea but those are the four teams right. This is years ago right this when I first started league Atlanta was in the West. This is Chris Chandler days. What era it was way back? Get Chandler Steve Barkovsky. They played the West. I mean they played San Francisco twice a year. This is a real rivalry but that game is like a college game. There's a lot of because because the cities are so close to one another and it's such a southern thing it's a rivalry game and I think obviously Atlanta played up and I mean Dan Quinn. Take your hat off to him. I mean his defense. Finally Allie showed up and played a decent game. The Sean Payton said last week if you go back to the history of its matchup regardless of records it's always been a one possession game or a score game overtime or field goal game and I'm expecting the same thing this weekend. So he was not surprised as by this result and I wouldn't be concerned about the saints. Either Mike. I'm with you. I just think he'd come off a bye. Hi It's division game you lose. It doesn't give me pause and sincerely about New Orleans. They just got beat. They got beat badly New England. I think this is the best thing that happens to him. Because Sean will be on a tangent. He'll go completely lately beserk. I mean there's so much I feel bad for who they play next week. I mean I don't know who they have. I don't have the top of my head but next week. They gotta play somebody and it's GonNa it's GonNa be a challenging game for them because they're gonNA come in and I think they're obviously you know they're going to be ready to play that game and they've got to play at a higher level. They play the Tampa Bay bucks down to Tampa. And that's another one of those that that always give the saints a lot of trouble going into Tampa Bay. Now I think this week Sean. Scott their teams full attention and he'll be able to get them. But you gotta take your head off to Atlanta Atlanta. They fought the whole game. They fought in there and they did a great

NFL Week 5 Recap

"Let's do some weekly awards here first off on the land the Atlanta Falcons into now one in four they got hammered against Texans fifteen thirty two and here's another example here's Atlanta running running p Carroll scheme you know don't work it's not working you know you can't play a lot of cover three zone you can't read the shoulder of the quarterback you can't break on the ball if you're defensive line doesn't dominate. I mean if you can't play Amanda Man Game and you can't get into it what's the falcons can the Falcons I mean Dan Quinn is going to take the heat for this but the Falcons are not very good they're eight and thirteen over the last twenty one games there now nineteen and twenty six the Super Bowl I mean at some point Arthur blank's going to have to sit there and say I can blame the coach but we're not a very good team we're just not very good team we're going to have to revamp what we're doing here we're going to rethink about how we're picking players Hauer cure town Atlanta's not one of those teams that steals they make very few trades I mean I know they traded for Cyprian and they traded they rarely make trades the metro the general manager doesn't want to go outside his draft picks he wants to just destroy he really is Ted Thompson when Ted Thompson was agreed but he wants to get players one way I don't think you can do that anymore in the NFL you know they've got Julio Jones Good player Matt Ryan declining not the same player and offensive line stinks this big win I didn't think that they could go into Houston and win but they're bad rotating I mean Matt Ryan now is ten fifteen when he goes endorsed on the road yeah thirty to forty six for three thirty three touchdowns yeah this this doesn't make any sense to me right you fired you fired Dirk Qatar because you didn't think it was good and you bring them back like why did you fire them in the first place like it make any sense like what are you doing you know and you got rid of Sarkisyan which I think was right but to me that this is this is part of the problem in the NFL there's not enough people. helping the head coach right there's nobody really helping Dan Quinn he's he's calling the defense he's trying to be the general manager he's trying to get his general manager to try to find players it's a really tough job anyone that's your Fred Palermo award the best thing going into the week Jon Gruden you gotTa give it to John I mean love you bro I mean

"That's not to say they don't discount or you know what what the browns have been able to do but you know they're never going to say this but I think they probably subscribed to theory that look it till you show me you can do it. I'm I'm not gonNA sit here and and and hand you anything whereas Baltimore has shown that you know their offense has changed the way they play the game has exchanged and and certainly with the Lamar Jackson and the weapons that they've given him with Marquees Brown I think there are more dangerous team team offensively they had been so but I don't think there's any question they still look at the the Ravens as the team to beat in the division. Gerry Jerry have fun today plain ice. We appreciate your time. Thank you Dan. Thanks it was Nice Day with Jerry Dulack he covers the steelers. Pittsburgh Post Gazette Adam Schefter to reporting Daniel Jones has been named the starting quarterback for the New York giants home the road where the fans are on your side but the fans won't be there in Tampa and and Tampa's got a good defense mclovin. You look puzzled what happens he line now any chance that they will no. I don't know everybody's got to worry. Nobody lie and how's it going to take this any chance. I mean there's a lot of quarterback vacancies that maybe they deal him. I guess you'd have to learn new offense so that's GonNa be hard. Okay ah how much of an upgrade is Jacksonville coughlan. I got nick foles. fulls probably will be back at the end of the season season like. I don't WanNa Bring Eli into a situation where he might keep the job New Orleans. He won't keep the job no but that's only for six weeks. I I oh this teddy bridgewater New Orleans because he could have left for the Miami job he stayed. I owe this to him because if you thought that much of him then let him play. Yup Yeah in theory I'd like to say that the saints make sense but it would make sense up freeze were out for the year noon if resort definitely done for the season which is not six weeks then you put in there and just give a six round pick for them and let it play out and I thought that the giants would go to Daniel Jones next week or the following week when they have Washington at at home but on the road against Tampa Bay and Pat Shurmur opened the door because he you know he didn't commit to ally yesterday and I said well. They're going to ask you every single week. WHO's your starting quarterback. Don't have to ask that now unless Daniel. Jones doesn't play well this next week then you might ask us. He's still your quarterback the following annoyingly Yarmuk and he's got no receivers so it's possible he's not going to be able to do any better. I that's Jones. I WANNA play but I'd like to play play when we have a little more talent out there because look at these other quarterbacks. Sam Darnold has some talent around him they brought in Leon Bell Baker. Mayfield okay feel certainly as talent around him with Oh. BJ Landry got a good running back. Good tight end you got Shawn. Watson has good wide receivers a great wide receiver Patrick. Mahomes has all of that talent there. You know the guys who struggle or the guys who don't have you know Jameis. Winston does have talent around him but you know James Winston to me. Is the problem not the talent around him. Marcus Mariota doesn't have a lot of talent around him. You gotTa have have talent at that position. If you're going to succeed Jared Goff you didn't have a talented offensive minded coach and Jeff Fisher then you got that you got some weapons. They fell in and you know they. They lucked out with Cooper Cup. You brought in some free agents. You GotTa have weapons if you're going to succeed. I don't expect much out of Daniel Jones against Tampa Bay not not much at all and if I'm a giants fan I wouldn't expect if you get something then great but I wouldn't expect much out of gambling. If you go back to the preseason all these these articles about aligned Daniel Jones always say oh the bye week week eight week nine we then right around there when they're not eligible. Nobody had him starting in September. Nope not not calling for it nor predicting it now. I didn't think that I was hoping they wouldn't go to because he doesn't have any. He's got saquon Barkley. That's a wonderful talent to have around. Did you is the offensive line good and who are your wide receivers. Yes mclovin and by the way your defense tear yes so you're probably not gonNA win a lot of games anyway although that game at Washington in New York next week. That's a good lineup. The redskins defense has been struggling. Maybe the giants trade for Jalen Ramsey Janoris Norris Jenkins who's kind of seem to one out of town but you know what the reason why the giants wouldn't do that because they traded away personnel quote unquote personalities. They're not going to bring in Jalen. Transi not not a chance all right coming up on one thousand nine after the Hour Matt Ryan set to join us. I believe is that right on that is absolutely and did you guys check. The point spreads. Miami is Miami's a little bit. Maybe a point more of an underdog in Dallas than the jets are in New England grand. New England is considered better than Dallas but Miami's tanking the jets tanking who is a named Luke Falk. "Atlanta Annie's and he's friggin superman humor last year after the game him throwing in his headset because it was job well done. They shut him down in the red zone they they were able to get done there. You know one of the routes that that you mentioned that I'll just key in on for the listeners because we kind of talked talked about this on the kiss and so lack film review so you mentioned that that that Dino route that double post route will the eagles were bottom of the barrel in Devi away against against post which is so weird because they play so much coverage but it seems like they tend to squat on everything in the intermediate era and and the the deep stuff goes like they were tops in the league against against digs and like intermediate routes like that which is crazy to me than to also have that problem against post and goes and whatnot so the Falcons will definitely test them vertically basically from a deep Paul Perspective Ryan was off in the game but I think if he's cleaned than you stop the worry about it right if he's clean and he's not getting pressure sure he's not having the clock issues in his head that he was. I think against Minnesota you have to worry about the talks is usually better than that but yeah I mean part of what was the process in pilot was the speed and the a delay that we saw but he was off he had a bad game and I think he'll be better. You know against Philadelphia but I'm not sure that better is going to be good enough because they need to get a lot better better. If they're going to be the kind of team they hope to be such a little preview of Matt Ryan as we head into week two for the Philadelphia Eagles before we get out of here I do. I'm glad actually that we have time to talk about about this. Because Nick foles goes down with a broken clavicle and in his stead is going to be Gartner Friggin we mark. We have a reason to talk about. Gerner Michio again on this on the podcast is how credible is that it's fantastic one of our favorite people doubt and mobile chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL and let's just say hooker. It looks pretty good against Kansas. City kids city has had some defensive struggles that was their Achilles heel last year and that AFC championship game look you can cry about the coin toss. All you want you had three third and tents. Make a stop kids. Make a stop okay but many will good and the interception was a joint shot off a four ornette on a check down which should have been caught yet a nice little you know cover to whole shot that he threw back shoulder touchdown scrambled real touchdown showing the swag bag you know we saw the pitcher of ham would like the on button shirt and the jacket aviator glasses just looking like a HOOPLA ahead out there. I mean look. Let's just let's just be honest. If Mike Leach likes you were going to like you and Mike Leach loves this kid the guys over at locked on Jags at a pod with Mike Leach talking about meant you. I thought you looked great. I'm excited to see the government you era. I really ah they could have got the eagles could have picked yeah now I want. I don't want to rehash the Clayton Thorson wires why we were on the right side on that one. I don't like take an early victory laps but given the way the is in a started take what is already done so. I'm going to take any other victory laps. You WanNa take or any other quarterbacks to impress you for week. When I tell you what man I watched the Baltimore Miami game and I told I told SOLLAC man. Miami didn't like hit the tank button. They ran over the button with an actual tank because that was an abysmal performance orbits from Can I say I just I started recorded. "matt ryan" Discussed on Bleeding Green Nation

"Let's talk about the week one performance from Carson Wentz because look man the guy might be good football and I've talked a bunch about Carson wentz on this feed this this week so if you don't mind I'm GONNA kick my feet up. I'm GONNA take a sip of his coffee. That definitely isn't spite and I'm GONNA listen to you. Smooth ear balls with the sweet. Wheat sounds of how you feel about his week one. I think if you're an eagles fan I think if you're a carson wentz fan or a fan of quarterback play you have to be excited with what you saw from him and I know it was a bit of a slow. Oh start but I think overall this was the kind of performance at you as a is an eagles fan or a quarterback fan or Carson Wentz Sandra hope into see from him in this game and in the season because what impressed me the most about him and this other we've seen from before the ability against the blitz the numbers against the blitz the calm and the cauldron kind of situations where or he knows he's getting pressure but he gets the ball out and he makes the right decision because as a quarterback you wanna get blitzed you want to see those guys Brennan pressure because you can trust the guys protecting you but you also know that you're going to have an open receivers throat. You're going to have the opportunity to make a big play. It's not like having to pick apart a window against the spot. Drop eight-man uncovered. It's like you're going to get one on one. You'RE GONNA get busted coverages. You'RE GONNA get guys with great matchups with the ability to beat them deep. That's what we saw from Carson Wentz but I think more than anything impressed me was the timing the time in the rhythm to the offense throws that he was making on time in rhythm on schedule getting the ball out as receivers which is getting into their breaks. Let along you know coming out of them. Being there was one play first and ten twelve twenty seven mark of the third quarter. They combined bonds what we're talking about here. It's a blitz. He gets man coverage on the outside. He's throwing the hedge and he just times in a perfectly. The ball is getting out of his hands at the receivers sink in his hips into that break. It's that aspect to his play because if you think about Carson Wentz Draft Prospect Carson Wentz the rookie a lot of sort of criticism about him was the processing listen speed isn't there the mind isn't there. He is a see it frolic quarterback. He is slow to make up his mind. You can even think back to his draft process there. It was in play a four verticals concept where everybody deigned him. Sandy just stared at down. It's because he was actually ahead of the game in the pocket. The timing the rhythm was a huge part of his development. We saw that on Sunday against Washington of course look the big plays or great and the ability to like one of touchdowns the first one to Sean Jackson when he booth with the safety. This is watching that game live you saw them. Charles Davies they showed the replay that a zoom in look of his is in you see him looking off to the left look in that safety and he just moves a misstep but sometimes that's all you need and that little looked at little step that you get from that safe these the difference between having a punt and British on the pat and you saw it on that plant in the live shot in the replay. It was such a great angle of it but that's the stuff that batters and if you think it doesn't watch Tom Brady on Sunday night. Watch him moving guys with his is it is so critical to the quarterback position rewind and re rack the entire. Haya first half of this show when we basically crushed mediocre Mitch for his inability to use his is effectively. You saw that from whence on Sunday it's Washington's until you put that altogether at factor in the fact look comfortable with his legs was moving around. Well made some plays in scrambled tro situations. This is the Carson Wentz people will hoping to see a extended some plays blaze. He looked good in the pocket. The second touchdown to Dijon. We've talked about a lot on this on this feed already but audibly before the play sees the coverage gets into smash. Divide type concept has two guys scream at right Monte Nicholson and he's got he's got cake throws either way so from a mental processing standpoint from like you said with a quick game stuff like I had predicted before the game one of my bold predictions because Carson Wentz to typically doesn't hit under two point four seconds. NPF's charting in in time to throw what am I bowl. Predictions is that he would hit under two point four. It didn't happen that way but it was at two point four four he was getting rid of the ball and let the offense work for him which is all. Doug Peterson really ask for for him and then he was selective when he wanted to take his shots and then he didn't try to extend plays of it in need to but when he needed to he was able to and he was able to freelance and make things work so as a really encouraging signs there from from whence in week one let let's get to the reason why we started this show to begin with. Let's get to some Atlanta. Falcons Elkins quarterback Matt Ryan Fun Week One Matt Ryan Facts for your right now. He had an abysmal who he won his deep ball off his bat under pressure not trubisky bad but but the there were there were some issues there play action didn't help them. Although I'm sure that the eagles are going to see a ton of that this week very similar to the looks that Washington gave them and the Eagles Eagles very much so struggled against those play action concept so that's something to look for a Ryan did also take forever to get the ball out of his hands. Obviously there's multiple factors offers that go into that. We know that Matt Ryan is a very good quarterback. Especially when he is on his game he he's up there in the in the upper echelon when he's at the top of his game so as ceiling endless unless by it was a bad week one what what do we take away from that because I know he beat up trubisky for a bad week one. He doesn't have the pedigree the background the film sample any any of that like a Matt Ryan. Does yeah I mean I think Matt Ryan gets a bit of a pass because we've seen him put up. MVP sees before and we've seen him play well. In no I think the past couple of years he kind of flew under the radar even though he was playing very well playing good football and put up good numbers a couple of takeaways from me from watching and studying this game and charged charges were one. There are opportunities to pressure Matt Ryan in this game. You know whether it's off the left tackle slide one of those off the right tackle side. There were sacked where both those guys get beaten beaten quickly. Ryan even have a chance to set up. Let Alone go through some reeds and so I think it's another situation that we talked about last week. Show where you can probably get pressure on the opposing quarterback with the guys you have and the things you can do on the Defensive Front Minnesota Ballista lot early to release them a lot. He made some mistakes under pressure. You look got the picky through in the direction of Julio. They blitzed them. I don't know what he was thinking there. It was a situation where they had impressed out motion to the two by two formation the defensive handsome back trails so he knows it's man coverage. He sees the blitz common they basically double Julio and he throws he forces it in his general direction action anyway and similar to Trubisky discussion sometimes when Matt Ryan gets pressured his Goto Plan C. Maybe because I think he's better getting to reach is I'm with a forces thrown. The general direction of Johnson trusted could make a play for me. He did that here. Nigga pick so that was a bad thing to see. They ran an absolute ton of smash asked whether it was flat seven smash just traditional smash with a hitch in a corner. It was probably because they get down early. They're seen a ton of cover too and that's a nice cover too bitter but they ran taunt of it and so that's going to be something to watch but I think the main takeaway Mike something you touched on. He seemed slower times than usually as there were opportunities in the downfield passing passing game where he was slow to pull the trigger and you almost wonder if the pressure was messing with his process and a bit but those are some of the take was ahead. I do think that pressure and we'll will help. He seemed to make some mistakes under pressure but the process in seed. He seemed to step slower and again. I didn't shot how much played in the preseason but maybe it was that was a factor there as well but let's talk about some of the major concepts from play action that they might run against the eagles as I- Carney our little Lulu to the eagles were torched on play action by by case keenum Adam fifteen point three yards per attempt. I'll play action a lot of that has to do with some broken tackles on a forty eight yard gain but they also missed bomb play action to maclaurin that was absolutely wide open with the eagles trying to run some form of drop kick coverage and Darby never got depth Benjamin so like broke down that play on the time line. If you WANNA see that but looking at what Atlanta Atlanta might do that similar to Washington. I think you're looking at the obvious you know the Yankee concepts. You're looking at the burner concept. You're looking at different things like that that they'll you give a run formation condensed set and then suck those linebackers into making that zone read step off the run action and they'll try to put it right behind him as Julio Leo Either Clears out or you know if eagles did what they did against Washington. They'll just let Julio run one on one pastor soul Douglas because that's that that's fine but mark would what did you see. Maybe there's some similarities between those two that you might have to look for from the play action game. Yeah I mean I think you hit on. Some of the basic concepts will be looking for. I think a couple others to keep in mind. They ran horse couple times hitch on the outside seam from that slot receiver. We saw it. You know if you watch superbowl fifty three. They're patriots rented three times in a row. Did you see the one where they did like the the whip route in and Calvin Ridley like went to into do his fate and he put his hands up like I don't. I don't know what's happening here and I don't know if he was doing that to try to like run like. Oh crap route like you. You wouldn't like high school where you fall off the line and then you get up in your wide open or if he was trying to time it to pick it for like the pivot or the with like come in come in underneath. I thought I thought that was interesting. Yeah that was an interesting route. I breaking that down and thinking look. This is a nice little design here because you had that sort of seen from the slot guide. It looked like a nice little concept. He's he's sort of like delayed laid. When he was coming inside. I did sort of like that but they could turn into a scramble drill situation. No Haass's one dino is one they did. They liked run dino a lot that double post we post on inside slot guy that usually occupies the free safety which gives you that one outside with a wide receiver on the outside against corner like like to do that with Ridley on the inside and then he'll John's on the outside to get him a one on one situation..

"There's gory floating around the dak prescott turn down thirty million key now. Nobody is numbers the terms or anything else. There's is no like hoard report that the dallas cowboys offered dak prescott thirty million over x. amount of years guaranteed this that but if dak prescott was offered thirty million a year and said no no that's. That's something makes you scratch your head because that's top tier money. That's that's right near the top of the harry. Matt ryan matt stafford that at the top of the list yeah but but i but i don't know that he turned down thirty real sea right. It doesn't sound right. Maybe it was a thirty average. You know the numbers the guaranteed number the money is guaranteed. Is it ninety eight guarantee plus because that's the going rate. Ninety million plus guarantee for the quarterbacks is going right now. Did they offer him thirty an average of giving sixty guaranteed interest and he's looking at another thirty million he

Dak Prescott explains why he won’t accept a bargain contract like the one Tom Brady has

"Dak Prescott here. They're talking about. He explains why won't accept a bargain contract. When Tom Brady has. There you go even brought up his wife. Nobody's wife makes as much money as his wife does either. He said when Tom Brady is the breadwinner in home. That's when then that's a great problem to have. So in that case he can do that. He can do his contract. However, you wanna do it. They talk about Giselle estimated four hundred million. Nobody knows what she's worth. But she's been the highest paid model in the world for fifteen years allegedly and good for her. But the bottom line is I saw that he's making like whatever like seven hundred grand or something like this and his deal. I mean, here's the deal like so he signed a deal with the Cowboys that was worth an average of six hundred and eighty grand prix year. Aaron Rodgers Matt Ryan Kirk cousins three quarterbacks who didn't even make the playoffs all have deals that are worth more than twenty eight million per year any bargain that they'd like to get. They're not gonna get there's eleven quarterbacks making twenty million per year. And based on that, he's a wok. To be making. Over to you know, he'll make over twenty five million a year. That's that's coming. So get used to that. Anyway, they talked about I think the team knows how to pay what's deserved and pay those other people at the same time what's deserve without being frugal. That's funny. Listening to him talk about what the Cowboys should be paying others and

"Mattie, no, he's proven me right. People get upset when I say if you take out the one great year, Matt Ryan is Andy Dalton. He's closer to Andy, Dalton, then he is Aaron Rodgers and everybody freaks out. But Andy, Dalton has one great receiver. AJ green, Matt, Ryan, got one great receiver Julio Jones. They both have defensive head coach. They both have a cooler nickname than they actually are. They've got decent arms, but not great. They can move a little, but they're not mobile. They have to other teams in their division Steelers ravens who are better organizations. You got the Panthers and saints. Those are really good organizations and what's the nocco was on Andy, Dalton. I can't be does Steelers and wants to knock on Matt Ryan. He can't win the game. Well, there was the one MVP year stop it. Kyle Shanahan makes everybody better. Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo of never lost a game together. Like Jimmy Garoppolo, but he would lose games with other coaches. I always say this with a real estate agent, if you're a real estate agent for ten years and you have one spike year because you sell a mansion, somebody hooks you up friend of a friend. You sell a mansion. Okay, that's great. But that's not who you are of the ten years who you are is the nine other years when you sell nice homes, you're solid real estate agent, make a nice living. You had that one spike year because a buddy hooked you up and you sold a mansion made a lot of money that year. But the next year you went back to being a good solid real estate agent don't gimme his MVP year. Kyle Shanahan left. He came back to being, you You know, know. Matt Ryan, by the way, Matt Ryan, Andy, Dalton, you put the numbers up, take out the MVP year. Same darn guy. You just don't wanna hear it in the Super Bowl year with Kyle Shanahan Matt Ryan scored thirty five points or more ten times. He's never done it once since. And he never makes the play. I saw Nick foles make thou play in the Super Bowl. I saw I saw case keenum make the play in the playoffs against the saints. I've seen breeze and Brady and Ben of seeing Cam make the play. I'm always waiting for Matty ice to make the play. And don't don't kid yourself, don't you always feel this way? There's in the dome, Matt Ryan, and there's outdoor Matt Ryan. Maybe he just keeps playing Philadelphia on the road needs to get him at home. But but my lasting memory and I saw three times last night. Matt, Ryan fourth-down Chan for a touchdown. Can't get it done. I'm not anti Erin. I'm just realistic, Matt, Ryan. He and Andy, Dalton, both a nickname red rival, Mattie ice that's better than the actual player. And both owes leave me feeling like. But I'm waiting for the play. Nick foles gave it to me in the Super Bowl. I still don't have one for Matty ice. Let me shift to this. Let's talk Philadelphia Eagles per second. Now they're very good football team. I don't have one of the Super Bowl, but I haven't won in the division are good football team, and I always felt like this in Hollywood. There were a lot of tough guys for years and years. Let action star Silvester Stallone tough guy on oc- wars. Negga was a tough guy. VIN diesel was tough guy. Tom Sizemore was a tough guy, but in his prime when he was like forty five years old, you know, toughest guy was nobody mess with Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood's one of those guys, and we've all had a friend like this. You just don't mess with is in. I just don't realize Joe, he's, you just get. Yes, they, they're it. Just you just wouldn't want to end up on the wrong side Clint Eastwood when he was forty. Now it's a little different, but forty forty, five years old. There's always that guy in the bar, not the biggest, not the strongest, but you're like, he don't wanna mess with that guy. Conor McGregor is not the biggest toughest guy in the USA, but you don't wanna mess what Conor McGregor Philadelphia's got a roster in a culture full of those guys that final drive last night, four minutes left. Five straight times pound the ball, pound the ball, get the push..

"He's not mobile enough to run it and he didn't have that arm to squeeze it in Matt Ryan, good quarterback, but you're trying, you're trying to be right. I met Ryan is. Get it right, kick the field goal. If you kicked to feel gold last night, I drive all you would've needed for feel at the end of the game to tie it was a field goal, but you put yourself in situations where you had to get a touchdown late. It's football. This is not the big twelve. It's not forty two thirty eight every Saturday. The average NFL games twenty three twenty since Wendy. Since when do we consider field goals to be like a garnish on a plate. No, they're not the steak, but they're at least the potatoes. I mean, I'm not saying they're the steak, but they're not a garnish field goals matter the falcons eagle last night. We're gonna prove to you that Matt can get it done. Just kick a field goal. This is Philadelphia. They got pro bowlers everywhere I drive. You got points. Go sit down, play defense, Lord, kick in your field. Goals is like eating your vegetables. I know what you're painful. I know you don't wanna eat your vegetables. You'll live a little longer. What are you doing? What are you doing? Average NFL team scores, twenty one point. Seven points. That's very good comparison. The vegetables in the field goals, God, this is an leagues about winning games, not proving a point. If you're in Philadelphia, you drive against that defense that defenders go all the way down the field. You get a field goal. You wan-. What's the old Wall Street? Saying, pigs, get fed, hogs, get slaughtered. You get a feel gonna Philadelphia opening drive of the year. You should be more than satisfied. Stop trying to prove a point, joy, title, the news. Turn on the news. This is the headline news, right? The Carson Wentz was week one for his return, but we knew no now, no, that wasn't going to happen. And we don't even know if he'll play at all in September before last night's regular season opener reports are saying that Wentz won't be ready to play for a few more weeks. So just as we would all expect, Doug Peterson was asked about the report after the game. Here's this response. I have not seen. I've seen it, but you know, investigate that'll be more in and see, see we're wearing. Why when that came out, but not good comment too much mom, I saw him in pre-game. Did you guys see the thing in pre game running around? He doesn't look like he's ready to play. He's obviously not ready to play yet. They would have him out there especially after what Nick foles look like in that first half we were talking about this yesterday if you're Philadelphia and Peterson obviously knows what he's doing. Just keep playing Nick until you go sub five hundred. Like if you if you play next week in lose your one in. Sean, you play him. Again, he go one and two, then I can see saying, okay, but if you keep winning with Nick and you're above five hundred, just just play if he's ready to go needs to be out there, but he's obviously not ready to go. Didn't look like it last night. I mean they're not gonna, put them out there and risk him reinjuring it. That's the that's the worst case scenario. Then you have to go through an entire season with Nick foles. The Nick foles is a capable quarterback, but he's not Carson was like getting confused about it. You talked about it yesterday, stop saying, Nick foles, and Carson Wentz to the same guy. We get it. He, he wanted Super Bowls lightning in a bottle, but like relax. It's Carson. Wentz is, is the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and Doug Peterson, just gotta get get used to getting asked about this. 'cause that's just going to happen until he's out there. So the eagles love them. Some trick plays most famously from the Super Bowl was really special when they touchdown pass from Trey Burton, and he caught another pass last night and the world freaked out about how bold it was, run the Phillies special on banner night, but it wasn't quite the same play as affiliate special. Let's take a listen to Doug Peterson when he was asked about it last night..

"Obligated to give your mater bob when when you one tenth of one percent would be nice wouldn't it yeah but really all kidding aside here matt ryan is to fix the barrier and in terms of human beings in and you know athletes that you like the root for in good guys this is a nice guy to have it so i'm going to go out to the panel here who should he have it you know where's he ranking pecking order nl cube nfl qb's well he's gonna turn thirty three this month thirty three this contracts going to take him essentially tilles you know what they're eight or whatever at least the moneywise you know there's certain quarterbacks that you feel more comfortable about and than others guys who run around a lot you know i never thought michael vick was gonna make a longterm investment because you just could see you know there's an injury waiting to happen russell westbrook scares me a little bit like that too matt ryan kind of robot you know i've i've watched him play a lot of gotten to know his style through the fact that matthew stafford in him a really good friends and we've talked a lot about comparing their styles and if you remember the season you know where they went to the super bowl i mean he he was he was almost robotic he he he he doesn't take a lot of chances he's not a running quarterback he's precision he's laser with his passes he's very smart he's very cerebral i guess if you're going to spend a hundred million dollars on anybody and quarterbacks at thirty three i'd ra i if i were the falcons i'd rather he was twenty nine i feel a lot better giving them a hundred million at twenty nine thirty three but the chances are he's not going to have a huge.

"You know last year there was a point where if you would ask me after the houston texans went to seattle and and we had seen a half season of deshaun watson if you would ask me the question i definitely would have put the shawn watson on that list after half a season in the nfl soaring ever really know how to quantify that but the one one point about that that i would say and i know there's been a lot of debate about it you know you've got to deal with the longevity factor and every time that matt ryan takes the field and every time he walks out there you know he can throw for three fifty and you can ride matt ryan to win games and there aren't many of those guys so whatever the quantify or is the qualifier is matt ryan gotta be in that discussion the fans are quick to say not all of them but enough of them that matt ryan chokes in the playoffs now i don't know how much we pin the playoff losses on him because they typically build leads the challenges holding the leads is it fair to question matt ryan's overall value based upon the fact that he hasn't won a super bowl in that they've had some fairly notorious playoff exits of course that has to be a part of any discussion about all quarterbacks and of course about matt ryan but i think i would disagree with the fact that you know look the the super bowl defeat to new england that one that one had a lot of fathers you know that that there's a lot of.
