Is Matt Ryan a Hall-of-Famer?
"Personally believe Matt Ryan's a Hall of Famer. Now hear me out. And here's why. He brought his team to a championship. I know they lost that. If they have that championship, eve waltz is in the Hall of Fame. It's the same thing with Matthew Stafford. Matthew Stafford wasn't going to the Hall of Fame. Whether we believe there announced that's wise. I think winning that ring, he's going to get in now. Eli Manning, which is two rings, has probably going to get in the Hall of Fame, 'cause it's New York and it's a whole thing. Okay, now there's your difference. Let's take Eli Manning. Is it the two rings that put Eli Manning in the holiday man in two rings are going to vault him in? But if Eli Manning were to have Aaron Rodgers career, he'd be in the Hall of Fame. And probably waltzing in as well. Aaron Rodgers has four MVP awards. He is dominated his division and he also owns the city of Chicago, but did he really? He comes up short. I agree. He has come up short many times. But how many? He does have a race. On the MVPs. Okay? I mean, think about some of the people who have been named MVPs. All right, and granted, he got it four times. Over the last years when he was really taking a baiting from media about the vaccine stuff. And when you heard his side of the story, which has never been contradicted by the reporters who were trashing him, you know, that he did say what he actually did. He didn't lie about it.

He finished with three interceptions and a lost fumble. Malik hooker had the big play of the final period, returning a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown. Michael Gallup had two touchdown catches, and Tony Pollard had 91 yards on 12 carries for the 9 and three cowboys. "Of glossies of him with the Heisman Trophy. He signed them all and went locker to locker and left them on the seats, thinking like Frank white and George Brett, what they really need in their lives is an autographed picture of some 22 year old. And how mccray was the DH in his last year with the and he goes around following Bo and he takes the pictures and starts throwing them up in the air and everyone starts throwing their own pictures up in the air. And George Brett looks around and he takes four of them and hangs him up by his locker. Everyone else is chucks him away. He was arrogant, but he was cocky. He was confident. He was not arrogant. He was very confident. I had an opportunity to first time I interviewed him. He had won the Heisman. And I was working at CNN sat down and did an interview. And he had a really bad stuttering problem. And so you didn't really know about him, what you knew is what you watched with boat. And he wasn't effusive. I kind of careful in what he was saying and how he was saying it. But later on, I played golf with him and Jim McMahon. Oh, wow. And Bo putts one handed. And he was great because I let McMahon and Bo talk because being a reporter or journalist. I wanted them to just have fun. So we were playing a round of golf in Chicago. And I just remember Bo punting one handed and I asked, I said, why are you putting one handed? He goes, we'll look at how well you put two handed. Oh, that's awesome. And I was like, oh, okay. But he was telling stories back then, whereas, you know, he probably wouldn't have done that if it was just me and somebody else. But with McMahon, McMahon was able to talk, talk to him and get him to be a little bit more forthcoming. Wait, Dan, you know, you know how you and I in media. "Nobody talks about Paul Goldschmidt now. I didn't do well in the postseason. But, you know, I would trust my team, my front office, can you make us a better team? Can we spend that money more wisely than ten years, $500 million? Now maybe the Yankees can validate this and go, yeah, it makes sense. Yes. Is he going to be a bargain? Now, I did say at the time when mahomes signed his deal, he will be a bargain. And I think he is. I think he will be. Because if you're getting him for $45 million, by the time he's done with this deal, what are quarterbacks going to get paid? It's like Bryce Harper when he went to the Phillies. I said, you're going to get a bargain with Bryce Harper. Mike Trout, a 12 year deal for what $460 million? Okay. I don't know if people go out to see Mike Trout. I think he's going to be one of those guys. You just see his numbers and you go, well, first battle the Hall of Famer. But is he a guy that brings you to the ballpark? Judge brings you to the ballpark. First of all, he's Paul bunyan. He's 6 7. And then he's hitting home runs. Mike Trout is just a great baseball player, but I don't know if there's star attraction. Shohei Ohtani, you're going out to sea. I don't know if you go out to see Mike Trout. You appreciate him. I don't know if you go out too soon. It's like I took my family to one of the last games Jeter played, because I wanted my family, even though my three daughters were there because there was food. And it was a nice day. But I said, I just want you to you can say this to your grandkids. You got to see Derek Jeter play. The right way. And there's nothing exciting about him. You're just Derek Jeter. He probably was two for four. Runs scored and that's it. But I wanted them to say, I got to go see him play. And they're just Aaron judge ten years. So he's going to be 40, 41, that big of a swing, that swing is going to slow down a little bit. He's had injury

"He is never going to play for the colts again. Mike florio wrote, Sam ellinger officially becomes the starting quarterback of the colts. If he fails or gets injured, Nick Foles will take over. If Foles gets injured, the quarterback will be anybody but Matt Ryan. Florio goes on to say it's all about the contract and they're going to save, I think around $17 million if they decide now they're not going to use him next year. They're going to basically say you're going to get guaranteed money. I think around $12 million base salary next year. He's going to get 12 million to not play for the colt's next year. They just didn't want to pay the extra money that goes along with keeping him on the roster. He will not play for the colds ever again. Now he knows that, Matt Ryan, his agent knows that. Can he ask for his release? Because of this? Yes, he could be traded. Trying to release. By next Tuesday's deadline. Yes. But I think he's got this fully guaranteed. Is there a contending team, I don't know if Matt, I don't know if there's somebody that you go. Let's plug and play and he makes a whole lot of sense for us. I was thinking more of a high end backup for a run for a contending team, but that seems like a lot of capital to give up. If you had to give it away. I don't know what it's going to cost you to get him. But if you had him as almost a quarterback's coach, offensive coordinator for a younger quarterback, although he might not sign up for that. But that would be the only way I think you could see something like this happening. I'm very proud of what we've done with our podcast. It's episode three of running smoke. "You got roughed up those first couple of games in more ways than one, but do you change anything when you're not playing like they think you're supposed to be playing? You're not playing like you think you're supposed to be playing, so then what goes through your mind? Yeah, I think all athletes, you know, that's part of professional sports. I mean, if you hang around long enough, there's going to be the ups, there's going to be the downs. And you got to keep plugging away, and you got to keep believing that, you know, your best is coming the next time you suit up. I think your focus on practice, you focus on trying to work on good habits, in practice, and that's what I've always done. Even from being a young player when things aren't good, you know, I think you get really simple in those kind of situations. You simplify and you work on the fundamentals and you go back to that. And you hammer away at those and that's what I've tried to do the last handful of weeks. Okay, when you go home, does mom say to everybody, don't bring up the game if you have a bad guess. How does it work when you walk into the house? My kids got no filter. And so Bill humble, you pretty good. And you know, they're starting to get it, so I've got twin boys and they're four and a half and they're they kind of understand what's going on and they understand wins and losses. And they're like, dad, you didn't throw any touchdowns. What's up with that? Hey man, it's harder than it looks, you know? But it's funny, it's funny to see it. And you know, luckily, you know, this past week they were fired up and excited we won. We're talking about Matt Ryan of the colts. Do you know who has gotten the benefit of more roughing the passer calls in the last 5 years? I'm assuming it's me. Yes, it is. Congratulations. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm not sure that's a good thing though because it means you are getting hit. You know? I think that might be like a quantity thing. It is. But I'm wondering, like, Brady's been given rough in the past for 15 times. I think you've been given 29 times. Do you damn, why are you bringing this up? Well, I'm just curious. You should have just let this sweep right under the rug. And not alerting. Are you selling it better than Brady is? 'cause you gotta be as faster than Brady, so it's not like you're not slower than Brady, right? There's no chance. Okay. I think he's like one of three or four people I can probably beat in a foot race in this league, but I feel pretty confident in that one.

"Be a busy final hour. Just got where Justin Herbert will join us, Charles Barkley will join us. Lewis Riddick of the mother ship will join us next hour and then we'll hear from Matt Ryan, the colts coming up here in moment, by the way, the Broncos over under to start the season was ten and a half. According to DraftKings, the Broncos over under for winds is now 7. Sounds rare. Yeah. Yes, boy. I was looking at the charger stats last night. They didn't pass very well. They didn't run very well. They're going against good defense, but with all those injuries to be four and two, you know, they don't feel like you said they're in that same tier at all. But either did seems like the Bengals at this point last year. Well, the chiefs are foreign too. Yeah. Charges in chiefs don't feel like they're the same. No, the charge has been outscored this year by 11 points on a season. The chiefs of outscore their opponents by 30. These Super Bowl odds right now, according to DraftKings, the bills are the favorites prohibitive favorites, then it's the eagles chiefs box chargers Vikings. Interesting. Two best teams right now are the bills in the eagles. I think you got to give credit to the eagles that being undefeated and balanced. It just feels like they don't need to have a big passing game or big running game, the defense is good, both offense and defensive lines are very good. And a lot of this is attrition. Can you keep your team healthy when your team loses somebody who steps in? And you're going to find with some of these teams. You have that depth. Buffalo has depth at the defensive line. Having the eagles do. Having that ability to be able to, if we swap somebody out, somebody's injured, somebody needs a breather. We don't lose anything. Having depth is so crucial, 17 game schedule now, and just seeing, if you can stay healthy, what product are you putting out there? We can and week out. Yes. I was thinking about a team that isn't really doing the job that they need to do. Like the Cleveland Browns, remember before the season you said, if they could play 500 football, then hand this team off to deshaun Watson, all be well. They lost the jets early in the season by a point. They lost to Atlanta by three points. There's a couple that could have had. Russell Wilson first 9 completions went to 9 different receivers. According to the NFL, first player to complete his first 9 pass attempts in a game to 9 different receivers since 1991, that's when play by play data was first recorded. He's Matt Ryan of the colts, the former league MVP, led the colts to a win over the Jags. They're now three two in one, how the hell are you guys three two in one man? Can you explain that to me? No, you know, it's really been an interesting first 6 games here. But we are where we are. And we're right in the mix. And so 6 games into it, you know, honestly,

"Top 5 potential trade destinations for Matt Ryan and where Atlanta could send him. Now, I don't know that it entirely makes sense for Atlanta to try to win Matt Ryan. Again, it would make sense with the fact that if they want to rebuild, they might want to get a younger quarterback. They might want to just reset everything and truly do a reset, because it's not working with Matt Ryan. Maybe they want to trade him away, get a king's ransom for him. But I don't know that I would trade away Matt Ryan. I try to keep building around him. However, as a fan, who does believe in Matt Ryan? I want Matt Ryan out of there. Does a trade make sense? I'm not entirely sure, but I want to rescue Matt Ryan from this horrible land of falcons offensive line, this bad situation with a coach. I don't really believe in. It's a bad organization. So the best team, I think you could send Matt Ryan too. It's like a dream situation. I don't know if it works financially. But the Cleveland Browns have a lot of weapons down there in Cleveland. They run the ball well. They have some good receivers. They got a couple of good tight ends. Austin hooper used to play with Matt Ryan in Atlanta. Imagine sending Matt Ryan to Cleveland. What's the problem in Cleveland right now? Injuries is one. Number two, baker's not playing very well. Baker Mayfield, the young quarterback. I mean, the options are open. Atlanta, Cleveland is looking at everything they can do to try to get better quarterback play next year. I solved your problem. Go get Matt Ryan. That'd be incredible. So that's one option. Option number two, and by the way, maybe Cleveland sends baker to Atlanta and they try to build around Baker Mayfield, I don't know. If you get baker in a couple of first round picks, do you send if you're a Cleveland and you can get Matt Ryan for Baker Mayfield and a first round pick or two, I think you make that deal. Now can they afford to make that deal? I don't know, like financially, can they pay him with their salary cap? I don't know. That's a question for someone else to figure out. I wish I knew that answer. I put this together in my account. It sounds like a fun trade. The Denver Broncos is another Matt Ryan could go where it's another quarterback needy team that's got some good weapons. They're ready to win. They just need good quarterback play. Hey, Matt Ryan can solve that problem as well. Now the Pittsburgh Steelers is a team. They got Big Ben about to retire, and they're another reason why. So all these teams, the top 5 teams that they've met Ryan could go to are all AFC teams.

"Mac Jones. We watched the Kansas City Chiefs against Jordan love. Was it last week two weeks ago? I don't remember how recent it was. But they had this really great game plan where they blitzed Jordan love Tony young quarterback. They played man coverage on the outside and said, you have to beat us throwing the ball downfield. We're gonna take away your running game. We are going to blitz you a ton, play cover zero and challenge you to beat our man coverage. Jordan love was incapable of doing that. He couldn't identify blitz very well. He couldn't beat man coverage. I'd love to find out, could Mac Jones beat the man coverage from the Kansas City chief. Does that even possible? That would be really I have to know. That sounds amazing to find out. I really, really want to see that matchup. And I think that would talk about a wild card weekend. Patriots against Kansas City would be an amazing matchup. I want to see that I am now rooting for that. I didn't think I would be. But I very much want to see that. All right. Let me see if there's any other notes before we get into a potential Matt Ryan trade. The offensive line is bad. Oh man, here's something I didn't talk about yet from this game. So Atlanta through not one, not two, not three, even but four interceptions in a row on their final four drives. It's awful. Matt Ryan was 19 for 28 passing a 153 yards. Zero touchdowns, two interceptions. He's had a really bad couple of games. But on the final four drives of the game, Atlanta through four interceptions. The first one was kind of a throw the mat Ryan was forcing downfield. Nothing was really there. He's getting kids he throws. I can't blame that Ryan at this point for an interception. I've got late in the game in the fourth quarter. Your offense has done nothing all day. You're getting more and more desperate. You're trying to make a play. By the fourth quarter, you down a bunch of points, you're trying to make something happen. I don't blame Matt Ryan at all for throwing a bad interception. Just trying to make something happen downfield. On the second intercept throws a ball a little bit high along the left sideline, receiver tips it up, JC Jackson grabs it. Almost a pick 6, by the way that JC Jackson stepped out of bounds, so Matt ran at two interceptions..

Let's start by talking about Thursday at football. On Thursday Night Football, the Patriots beat the falcons 25 to zero. And the game could not have gone more opposite for Atlanta in New England. Atlanta, it's bad. It's really bad right now. I think in the last two games they've had probably their worst stretch of football. You know, right now feels like a low point for the Atlanta Falcons. They lost on Sunday, horribly to Dallas. They lost again out there in a football. In the last two games, Atlanta has been outscored 68 to three. Horrible, horrible, embarrassing, bad performances. They lost. Gosh, 68, -25 should be 43, so they lost 43 to three. On Sunday, here now today they lost Thursday night, they Thursday, but they lost 25 nothing New England. It's awful. I don't think that things can get much worse from here. And we got a question on Patreon. You can write into the show on Patreon. Patreon dot com forward slash Zack Schumer..

Panthers' Matt Rhule Is Making a Bid for Best NFL Coach This Season
"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. "Hey i'm going to be in atlanta or leading into it. Did you think maybe some other things could have played out. I had no idea. You know 'cause like you mentioned. Probably other than the raiders at that time because the markets have been drafted right before me other than that. You know all four. I met with and and didn't know what was going to happen and so You know i really was up in the air as to to where i was going to be happy i ended up where i did. You not feel like a of ended up in a great situation been here for a long time has become home and it's a great city to live in but it was a strange time. Because you're right. There were so many teams that You know had had voids at the quarterback position. And i'm proud of the fact that that there hasn't been that here And and that hasn't been the case in some of those other organizations last question and thank you again for the time. Look your statistics over. Thirteen years really comparison. I mean over the last ten years over four thousand passing yards each of those seasons. You've course won. Mvp to a superbowl. You've been so durable mystery games throughout your entire career. Three hundred forty seven touchdowns and over fifty five thousand yards use sort of moving to. I don't know maybe the last five years of your career at six. I don't wanna put a cap on it but Do you ever sit back and think to yourself. You know i've got a. I've got a really good career. Why there's a chance. I'll end up in canton one day. There's a real legitimate shot or do you not allow yourself to ever go there. I noticed the popular answer. Is that the honest answer you know. Put it this way. I'm proud of. I'm very proud of what i've done. You know i. I think that he mentioned it. Three games missed in thirteen years You know there's a lot of hard work that goes into that in a lot of time spent trying to get yourself ready to play and get your mind right to go out there and play when you don't feel great So i'm proud of that. I'm proud that you know. I've been consistent for a long time and be able to go out there and You know give us winning performances. Give us a chance to win weekend and we got. I feel like i've done that throughout my career but i've also always had the mindset and i know it's cliche but i've also had the mindset that if you're if you're thinking about those things you're not thinking about winning that week and you're not focused on the right stuff some. I've always felt like if you kinda stay focused on what's right in front of you. What's important right now. You know the big picture ends up taking care of itself so try and keep the big little. Keep my focus narrow and You know hopefully one day some of those things that you mentioned. Will i really appreciate your time. Of course matt ryan. "I see in this offense that i've done at different points in my career and i think that helps from a learning standpoint. This season is going to be different for the nfl. Seventeen games for the first time obviously know sixteen games scheduled in place for almost forty years actually over forty years as a player. How do you view seventeen game. Do you view it with disdain. The viewers hey give me a chance to to pass some stats here over. The course of the rest of my career is. is it something where you're kind of indifferent. How do you see the seventeenth game. Now that it's implemented and it's something you're going to have to deal with you know. I think it's the statistics part of it. You know it doesn't really matter I think i probably indifference the right word to say. I don't know if that's the perfect way to describe it but it is. You know it's. It's what our schedule is this year and so not that i necessarily agree with it to start thought. Sixteen was fine. But you know it wasn't my call to make it. So they put a seventeenth on their. It gives us another chance to go out there and In in cut it loose and play. And so you know you have to prepare yourself for the long haul and so i guess i am a little bit indifferent as another game. We have on schedule and another game. That we've gotta find a way to win the division for you guys very different this year. Of course you and drew brees been saying for a long time. He's now retired. james winston. You're going to be the starter. There carolina kind of influx for few years donald. Now in and of course the buccaneers or the buccaneers just won the super bowl. They brought everybody back. But from your perspective. How do you see the division. Because really you guys have had all season of change. Carolina's certainly has well new orleans. Certainly team probably the change of anybody. So how how do you see it as you go toward the regular season. i think it's a tough division. There's no no question about that. You know you look at two of the best defense in the league. Last year in tampa new orleans returning like you mentioned a lot of players a lot of guys on that side of the ball. I think carolina was was a young defense That was talented last year and has some really good players and they continued to draft on the defensive side of the ball And i think they'll be better and improved this year. So we've got our work cut out for us..

"That's the type of player you need tackle with the offense. They've built right absolutely tristen worse. We just want a super bowl ring. He was great in tampa and by the way. They're even guys who've got drafted after. I'm gonna get into all that because there are guys you know it was you play that game all day. Long guys not project bit a first round. pick. And i'll take him at four. But other than isaiah wilson. Who's been just out of the league disaster. The giants could not pick up any more as we sit here right now now before we get to in and out or rather we have to bring in a very special guest interview with atlanta falcons quarterback matt ryan joined. The podcast gave is fifteen minutes promoting stuff with tied. You're gonna wanna listen app. You're also gonna wanna listen to a couple of guys in his team that he believes her better than people know about house. Kyle pits look. How's it division. Look does he think he's a hall of famer. And what about the seventeen games schedule. All that more matt ryan right here on stack the box. Now we want to welcome in burr special guests. You're stuck in the box. Atlanta falcons quarterback matt ryan less than two weeks away from the start of the regular season or get the plenty of football but before we do matt for full. Welcome to the podcast. Second of all you working with tied to promote something. That's very important. I'd like to give you the floor and kind of let you talk about. Just what you're doing with company and why you're doing it. I'm excited to partner with tied. And i'm really excited. That titus partner with the nfl to switch to cold water washing You know it's it's a really good opportunity. You know for for people to to make the switch from water to cold water. It's great for the environment The the reduce use of energy saves your money. Which is awesome too. You know i know. As as father twin boys were were running the washing machine all the time. And so you know any chance. People have to save some money and make a small change. That's really good for the environment. is is is awesome. And so you know. I'm excited to be partner of it I was really excited to shoot a commercial. This past summer was stone cold and ice t which was a personal highlight of mine. Get to meet those guys. And i've really enjoyed being a part of it. I got ass stone cold ice to you. Were they exactly what you thought. They would be like did expectations if they surpassed it. Both those guys. "I mean you talk about the talent. That's just been exiled from there. They give away the andre hopkins for a used practice ball and a slice of pizza. You know they trade away they lose will fuller now. Everything going on with the shawn watson. And i love david kelly. I think he's a great guy. Obviously an nfl lifers coach. I think this is a terrible situation for him to be a first time. Nfl head coach all the dysfunction of the offseason. There's no team worse than the texans. No organisation in sports worth the texas so mouthful i. I'm inclined to agree with that over thinking too much They've overtaken the knicks. Twenty years. dysfunction. I i have to agree with you. Know i thought about the lions because the line just had nobody there there the rest of town. But i like dan campbell like that. Coaching staff and goth. Is i get it. He's not an elite quarterback. I'm not trying to sell that. But he's an nfl quarterback. I think they will win. Some games simply based off the fact that i do believe they will be coach while i do believe that god will steward them I don't think there's any chance in hell houston's Five which i don't think three no i don't either you division. They're not beaten indie. Then they're not beating tennessee. And i'm not even a loved indianapolis indianapolis who's going to beat them ten times out of ten jacksonville like urban. Meyer scares the hell out. Any jacksonville's more talented that houston. I mean just a quarterback throw the jaguars into that worst team pile too i. There's still a relevant that. I forgot about their over under six and a half and i was like who causing the overrun. Who thinks winning. Seven games you seen urban meyer. Coaching state. Yeah they have they have no rhythm at all on offense they have no identity. There's not much talent around trevor lawrence. The offensive line is a sieve. See i think you could have to. Afc south teams picking one and two There's my bones would extra is very very possible right. Your neck of the woods new york football giants. How much trouble are they in with daniel jones. And they're left tackle second year left. Tackle andrew thomas because your watch the preseason game against new england and it's a preseason game andrew. Thomas was brutal game jones rose pick. He's a radic you looking at a little bit of a blip on the radar screen or a continuance of problems in your past. No i think that. "But i like the saints. The saints are are good team. And i just trust on peyton. I trust him to get the most out of that team. Do that division outside of the box. You make a sleeper case for any of those teams you really and i think one of them will emerge as a contender. So i'll take my shot in the saints in the afc. I struggled to find sleeper. But i'll throw this one out there. I think denver's interesting denver's really good. The quarterback situation is not. Which is why i really struggled with finding that sleeper. If the quarterback situations indecent addenbrooke. We're gonna make the playoffs. But it's it's not. I reason i told him in there. I think bridgewater's the right pick like lot lock is gonna throw a million interceptions for you. He led the league last year and picks and he played thirteen games a bridgewater. I didn't the broncos basically. We need a caretaker caretaker. We're gonna win games twenty to seventeen. That's out now. Can they do that in today's nfl. In the division with two teams that are score a lot of points. I don't know. But if i had to pick one in the issue that's go it's funny. You bring up the broncos map. Because i mentioned on my podcast on friday i did a three up three down segment the three teams that i'm high on three teams that i'm going on today after watching the preseason training camp and i had the broncos leading off my three down segment because you know i i love the supporting cast around teddy bridgewater. I think k. j. ham were cortlandt sudden. Jerry judy noah font you go to battle with the service of a quarterback every day of the week with the supporting cast and i love the talent. They have one defense. Von miller is a future hall of famer here. I just teddy bridgewater. i think he's a bridge to nowhere. You don't have the young quarterback you're trying to develop and if you win seven or eight nine games. You're not gonna be good enough to make the playoffs. You're not going to be bad enough to be picking at the top of the board so just don't understand that move but if you wanna sleeper team out of the afc. I'm gonna go and i. It's unbelievable that were saying it's unbelievable bill belichick and the patriots to mir the sleeper toke. And you know. I watched a lot of new england this preseason. They played the eagles. So that was the game was on here in the second week of the preseason so i watched that game i saw mac jones moving the ball down the field arm strength for days pinpoint accuracy can operate within the system and then he goes up against the giants and join practices android. Sit up jordan. Run out of espn short of the practice. Adamant something of thirty four of forty moved the ball really well on sunday night. In the preseason game if mack jones can perform at that level when they go out and they get nelson or and john who smith one hundred henry and they bring in mattru don who we talked about earlier to anchor that front seven on defense look i. I don't think anybody's unseating the buffalo bills. Except for maybe vid. But i think that if there's a team that can push for a card on that side of the bracket maybe pull off an upset or to an afc favorite. I like my chances with ballot. Check if he starts mack jones. That's a good call. That's a good call anytime you sleep. Involves bella check your shape which one week one game..

"You're good luck with that didn't happen. Nba kind of prescient that age. Now nobody's doing that. It look if you wanna go trade half your franchise for a guy who's facing almost two dozen civil suits that's on you about tell you it tells me a couple of things number one i wrote about this and you just said it even at the. Don't get shawn watson tells you all about they think tour everybody's been parsing. There's a million ways. They clearly don't believe him you you give three. I in two seconds away for a quarterback if you think too good by the way you ended up being off and they give a i in a second because texans on time. It's like you're bringing in some streak and if you believed in to what you would be bringing anybody. I don't think the charges are going out looking for a quarterback right now. They believe in just herbs so it also tells me by the way the dolphins are getting somewhat desperate. Because this is a franchise. It has not been doing as you title game since nineteen ninety-two they've not won a super bowl since nineteen seventy-three and i get to shawn watson so great player. Destroy the stuff off the field just talking about onfield perform. She's a top five quarterback in the week. Yeah no doubt but we don't live in a world where you just get to strip out everything else and everything else does come with it and right now. He is incredibly embattled. You've noise he's gonna play football game and not get the dolphins fan who says hey. We didn't make destroyed debt. You're just years pontificating. Look maybe maybe. That's that's true that made the trade yet but they're gonna take any. It speaks volumes about where they are as an organization the threshold that they're willing to put up with as an organization and speech about to a and. Hey yeah we took this kid overall asher but we've seen him now for a year and a camp preseason and we're good we're good we we've seen enough. Yeah and the other thing at play here is that are some pretty heinous accusations and in today's climate and in any climate really they deserve to be aired and i. I'm inclined to believe when a woman makes these kind of allegations their legitimate at and that they should be brought to the four. And that's what i think. Should inspire a lot of caution about any team trading shawn watson but this whole situation in the way that the houston texans in the nfl was handled. This roger goodell not putting shawn watson on the commissioner's exempt. The houston texans. Not sending him home. Suspending him for conduct detrimental for the team or keeping him inside and saying listen. We understand why you're here. We can't dock your pay because of this but you're going to go and lift during practice. We're not putting you on the field with the media present. We're not putting you on the field in practice to eliminate distraction but none of those things happened and you're still hearing the dolphins. According to charles robinson and other reports this weekend being involved in active discussions reportedly trying to trade for deshaun watson so it makes me wonder if while the fbi and the police departments and all of the civil attorneys are conducting their investigations. If the nfl doesn't know something that everybody else doesn't. Because i just can't imagine with. Everything happened with josh brown and the giants a couple years ago everything had happened with ray rice and how that situation just exploded and change the way that we view domestic violence in terms of athletes..

"Is going to be year where they talked a little bit. Anyway about jackson be throwing the ball more. We're gonna we're gonna try to balance it out a little bit now. You might really have to throw the ball a little bit. More defense takes a little setback. Now dobbins and i think if you look at their off-season you're telling you they want throw the ball more. They went outside. Sammy walk drafted or shot. Bateman and. I like to me who also got hurt by the way so it's really been a rough camp rave it's a great and bateman is not gonna start the season healthy walk into a guy's always dealing with something and and has a little something this year. Now he he might be their week one but walk into guy who's often injured. This is going to be a lot of pressure on lamar. A lotta of this is not only to win. Hey you to earn this contract. And i get if people say what's not fair he already earned it this. Nfl if he doesn't play this year. I'm not saying he wouldn't get a contract that he would struggle to get alan money mahomes money. He would but if he goes out to he's great then he's got every right to say look. I should be paid way. More josh allen was an mvp so it's a huge year for him. And i think the burdens got a little bit. Heavier adoptions being hurt no. I agree and i spoke to an agent about this a few weeks ago after josh allen. Scientists mega deal with the bills. And lamar jackson is one of the biggest winners of that contract. Because he has the track record. He's been to the twice. He has the mvp under his belt. That's an area where you look at baker mayfield. And i've said this before i've written it. I think the browns are the biggest threat to the kansas city chiefs. Going seventeen and i think the browns of the biggest threat to knock off kansas city and go to a super bowl. And if that's the case maker mayfield gets to cash in on the bet on himself going into this year. But that's kinda where mayfield finds himself in that mega-contract equation that he's betting on himself with four improved supporting cast and a much better situation on both sides of the ball whereas lamar jackson. He's already done it so if he goes out and the ravens win eleven games if they'd go to the playoffs again. Regardless of how it ends he can go into john harbaugh's office he can go into the front office and say listen my first three years. I took you the playoffs three times. I have an mvp under my belt. My i you know lead you to a hypothetical division title a wild card berth without my number one running back without my hotshot rookie receiver x. Amount of games and you can kind of throw his hand on the table and say this is the dollar amount that i'm looking for and if you're the ravens you kind of inclined to have to pay him because what are the better options you're going to be picking in the mid twenties or later if you make the postseason and if you.

"It's a great product and it was actually life changing a lot of ways. And if you're not manscaping you put it best. Not only are you doing yourself a disservice. But you're probably going to be spending a lotta time alone. If people realize you're not manscaping and using the man's scape product the biggest story coming out of the weekend on the field jay dobbins getting hurt the big story off the field. The reports from charles robinson from mike florio from other sources. Well that shawn watson is still being courted significantly by the dolphins. We'll get to that in a minute. But first lombardo. Let's start off with the ravens. This is a team that uses their rushing attack more than anybody in and dobbins clearly was going to be a number one bag. Yes because edwards. Still there he's a good player but dobbins everybody around the league talking about how good he was going to be this year. How much of an important player. He was going to be in the way that they play that offense and not even running the ball but also throwing it to him and he got hurt actually on a play where he caught a pass screen pass near the red zone. How much of an impact do you think this has on baltimore. You think you think they can replace him with gus edwards and be all right or is it something where going to cripple the amount. I don't think there's going to cripple them at all and on couch that by saying that i think. Jk dobbins has a chance to be a real impact player really proved that last year. He's a guy that is you talked about just as dangerous as a pass catcher as a runner. But let's not overlook gus edwards. Here's a guy. I know in limited touches but he averages five point two yards per carry. He can push for double digit touchdowns. I think the ravens are going to go shopping for running back help especially now that you have cuts being made by four pm on tuesday team's gotta be down to fifty three players. But i think the the ravens are going to be a team that just keeps plugging along. You bump guts edwards up on the depth chart. Maybe you go pick up a corey clement. If the giants released him maybe you go pick up a draft. Pick who might not have made it onto a roster somewhere and you go with a two headed rushing attack but their main source on the ground matt real notes lamar jackson and everything else. Kinda complements 'em so yes. It's a big loss but i'm not overstating and i'm not gonna over exaggerate. How much this is going to cripple or hurt the ravens. Yeah i i tend to agree like i think it's more about enrollment system and the threat of lamar jackson. Then during else. Now i i will say kind of in the same way the way you went. Look losing dobbins. It does matter but he is the best back on that team and he's by far the best receiving back..

Who Will Pick Kyle Pitts in Thursday's NFL Draft?
"All right. Let's have fun here with. Kyle pits blank will select kyle pits right. I think it's the falcons. I mean friscos. Been talking about this for some time. He doesn't think that the falcons are gonna take a quarterback he thinks arthur blank is all in on on matt ryan for another year to have a new coach and the new general manager. And here's the thing like if you trade down four. And i suspect it'll be teams interested in trading up to four to get whether it's trae lance macaroni justin fields. If you're the falcons if you move down if you move down you're not getting cockpits. That's just the end the conversation because either the bengals. The dolphins entertainment five or six and presumably. You're not trading with those teams already have quarterbacks. So that's the math you're doing and if you're not getting likely to march as we saw a report on monday for peter king that maybe julio jones could be moved with which seems crazy what they need a cap space Could you turn down for. Cornerback if the falcons you could but again what gives you more value in terms of making that football team better. I think it's how pet. So if i'm the falcons and i'm not taking justin feels matteo's trae lands i'm sampling. Taking cup pits. Janssen the blank blank. We'll take pets. I think it's it's atlanta. But i also be surprised if the team traded up with the falcons maybe even take pits like ryan saying you know the train up to the quarterback but you know teams fall in love your dallas. You know thousand the four but you know if a team really loves him that much and it's hard not to love that much than you could see. Maybe a team being overly aggressive. I think it was on On the nfl network this morning on good morning football there was a segment that they do with the giants traded up. You know. I don't know who is doing the job. Esau just a screen grab of it on twitter but the giants gave their first or second ebony ingram and something else to move up to four to get pits and it was you know something that on paper make some sense but you know. Obviously something is not likely to happen but still i would say it's four is where he goes. But the falcons do make some sense especially they decided we want from me jonesing. Another playmaker

What Should the Atlanta Falcons Do With the 4th Pick?
"Talk about another quarterback order player Who people these days. Certainly no. and that's matt ryan about that for a transition Terrific quarterback for very long time. 2016 was his best year was the mvp of the league with the falcons and took that team all the way to the super bowl and then from that point forward it has been sued of a steady decline for the team despite making the postseason in two thousand seventeen. They've won just eighteen games over the last three years and with that regression the falcons might hit the reset button in this draft with ryan being almost thirty six. They have a new head coach. And arthur smith they have the fourth pick. Overall general manager is teri faulk no and he said quote. We wanna stack good quarterbacks. Its prime time to do it. When you have a player like matt ryan because when you can get in the white quarterback you don't have that pressure play them right away so it opens up so many possibilities and we have to make sure we're evaluating those positions and we feel good about what we where we are there a lot of different ways to take that it certainly what i would say if among other things i wanted someone to come and try and trade for my fourth pick in this draft so teddy. I'm giving it to you directly here if you were the falcons right now. Are you looking to bring in players to help matt ryan try and win a championship again or are you looking to draft his eventual replacement. Said like i said about the smokescreen season. There you go right there you make everyone think that you're okay with draft a quarterback in developing under matt ryan. But you gotta take advantage of the quarterback desperation which is in this draft and everyone one maybe sneak up if they're guy falls to four and go ahead and get him because i think they should build and they need to usually head coaches come in. And they'll want to stack pile not quarterbacks but draft picks in terms of building a foundation model for their team so i would say definitely take advantage of the fourth overall pick trade down. Try to see if you can get some building.

Philadelphia Eagles Sign Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco
"Big news coming out of philly. Yesterday joe flacco agreeing to a contract with the eagles. It's a one year deal. Three and a half million dollars. Guaranteed the opportunity to win. Four million more in incentives. Now what does this mean. As far as the eagles and their draft plans remember. They only have one quarterback on the roster until this and that's jalen hurts and they have the six pick in the draft and as you see mel kiper junior and his latest mock has been taking the superstar receiver tamar chase from lsu which would be awfully knife or any quarterback that they have there but so does this mean mel again. It is not your expectation mel with us field. Yates as well here today. It does this mean and again. You're you're mock has them taking chase anyway but the signing flacco does that in your view. Close the door on any possibility that they draft a quarterback at number six. I think they would even going in before flacco. You think about. Joe flacco wise ian eagle thinking about the baltimore raven connection with the philadelphia eagles. Joe douglas and joe flacco who drafted where the want super bowl with the baltimore ravens. So there's that always that connection you can always go to. Guys are picked up later in their career. So for joe. Douglas bringing in a joe flacco you think about what he was doing with the jets in terms of the situation there. And then you've got the philadelphia eagles their same type of thing that raven connections. So i think when you look backing up jalen hurts right now. I don't think he's a threat. I think jalen that guy get jomar chase and go four with him and help jalen hurts and then reassess after the year's over that's what they will do that influence with the raven organization in philadelphia as a factor. I think it's a factor throughout the green and there always is joe. Flacco is a good backup came in the league. Same your matt ryan did and that ryan slow playing great football of course super bowl but Joe flacco did. But i think it's a good situation to have joe flacco there behind. The jalen hurts. Jalen hurts gets hurt. Your season's not over joke and still play. But i think this is jalen team right now. I thought it was carson wentz's team that didn't work out. But i think if you get your march help jalen hurts and then you make your decision air to this year whether in the twenty twenty two draft you have to think about drafting. A young quarterback failed. Same question to you. Does this mean in your mind that the eagles are out of the quarterback market at six. It does not greedy in. Here's a simple reason. Why i agree with everything else that i'm going to double back to that in just a moment. I just have long believed that if you are convinced. A player can be a franchise quarterback that if he's available at six. You have to at least consider it. If you're philadelphia. Now that being said all the indications this offseason from the previous reporting from more about the eagles plan to build around jalen hurts this year plus the signing of joe flacco which at least gives them a veteran option at the very least relatively modest priced by the way three point five million dollars. There are so many signs at the plan. This year is to find ways to make jalen hurts better so i still believe that ultimately the eagles are gonna be in prime position to land one of the best pass catchers in this year's draft a quarterback should not be entirely ruled out. And that's just me having seen the league long enough to know that sometimes teams do things the catch us by surprise even if they should not have caught us by surprise
