"The difference between the two is, yes, with the rams like to have this draft choice because they are unfortunately earning it with Stafford being injured and can cost and Cooper cop recovering from the dreaded tightrope ankle surgery and Alan Robinson now being out for the year and Aaron Donald now having a high ankle sprain. It is absolutely dreadful. The offensive line has been banged up from jump. But the difference between the rams and the Broncos is the ram straight. Okay, the Ramsay and is there's a trophy in the case. Yeah, I want a Super Bowl. And there's a walnut made of diamonds. Yeah. I mean, they can't even call it a walnut. I mean, like a centerpiece. That's small plum. That's it. It is worth it. And I know right now it is very difficult for the family that we all know. It is worth it. And next year, if the rams are top 5 on the clock and the lines do get a choice, right? If that does happen, it'll be a tough moment for the rams to watch a top 5 caliber player. Certainly since this was a team that was going to cough up two ones for Brian burns. What if it's like will Anderson of Alabama? That's the guy, right? It'll be tough to watch. But all you got to do is just look at the trophy in the case. That's it. Forever more. Every player on that team will be able to say, I want it. I want a Super Bowl, all of them. The Broncos, not so much. Not so much. As it appears, in the stoppage time the United States just scored a second that it's going to be waved off. What a buzz kill. The AR, you remember what John C Reilly said he told the Will Ferrell, what he thought the AR stood for? The a hole ref. That's what that guy is. By the way, there are 6 in the extra time. Dang it. That would have been sick. This Super Bowl take brought interrupted by a disallowed goal. But you see what I'm saying? Yeah. Absolutely. The Broncos. How about the Seahawks, by the way? How about the Seahawks they've lost two in a row, but the silver lining is the rust trade keeps on giving. It gets better. That giving tree. The Seahawks are going to wind up choosing top 5 for sure. How about this? They cut look at the eagles. They own a saints pick. The eagles are in the ten win club and they might choose top 5. Seahawks cut Bobby Wagner last year and they could draft his replacement. In April. Well, Anderson. Wow. 8 four four two O four which is always the number to dial here on the rich eisen show. We will take phone calls whenever you want to send them in and we'll take them all day tomorrow. Desmond Howard is first up tomorrow and I thank today's guests for being part of this program. Christopher McDonald and Matt rule and that was a great chat with Bruce Feldman. It was. So Dez is going to be first up tonight talking about the final four that's been spit out by the committee leading into the championship weekend. And brockman will see if you hit any part of your parlays, right? What everyone know rich should results hold, we will play the Netherlands. Saturday morning. Oh boy. Okay. That's the way if results hold, if results hold, Netherlands. Okay. Well, our results are holding. We're back on the show tomorrow. Desmond Howard, meet a continent studio. Hey, all right. And Patrick. He'll be on the program. Hey Patrick, how are you preparing for Mike white? What are you laughing about? I'm not laughing. You just laughed. It's the way you said it. That's a legit question. It's the way you said it. TJ Jefferson's favorite western Kentucky quarterback. Look, are there any other western Kentucky quirks? Oh, that's right. We came so close to a zappy white shutdown. Sappy white, I once saw him open up for red fox. By the way, I thought that was the base player funk. By the way, I did actually one day one time see slappy white open up for red fox. It was amazing. Amazing. I propose nothing going out to our Wednesday show.

"What house your life is picked out and so much more. I've enjoyed talking with you and your years being coach of the Carolina Panthers and I'm very pleased to see that you wound up in a spot that pleases you, but you do know that on occasional Saturdays we're going to have to go our separate ways in the Big Ten, right? You do realize that, correct? Dan, and I'm sure you're very happy right now. Oh gosh, happy does not actually do it justice what I am. I'm like, you're peeling me off the ceiling right now is really what you're doing. And there's now a trophy, I guess, that Compton and tailor the want of created between our two schools, the bus and with the boys trophy that currently does reside in Ann Arbor and I wish you good luck in getting it out of Ann Arbor, sir. We will do all we can. Okay. All the weekend. Excellent. And by the way, when you speak to Tom Osborne next time, ask him for half of the 97 national championship back for Michigan, we'd like to make that whole as well. You don't mind me doing that. I'll try to find a way to work that in. Thank you, sir. Yeah. That should be your top priority, right, Chris, my buddy, Chris right here. Okay. Take care of yourself, Matt rule. You'd be well, man. It's been a great congrats on the gig. We'll chat again soon, hopefully. You got it. That's Matt rule, everybody, from the university of Nebraska. Yeah, I went there. That's a big day for him. You know, he's gonna have a new house soon that he's never seen. He's got times number. Going back. You know that gold watch that was at the coaches gave it to him, or yeah, the coaches gave it to him. The AP gave it a Michigan, the coaches gave it to him, right? I don't know. I don't think this is a good take by you. It's a great take on me. It's an outstanding take by me. Next time we have Hutch or Charles homme will ask him what they would have done in that game. Oh, sure. I'm happy to ask him. Come on. Who from the Hall of Famers that I can have on from that Nebraska team? To talk about it with. Well, the college football Hall of Fame Hall of Fame, the pro football. Well, you know that college success doesn't necessarily translate to NFL success. It can. Why do you keep on blocking me when I'm having such a good time? What's his problem? What's his problem? What's his reign on parade issue these days? No, we had a couple days off and last line conversation should be great. 97 has nothing to do with what happened on Saturday. That's true. We can agree on that. Okay. All right. Yeah. Yeah, they're separated by decades. Right. I agree. And people. No, but you're raining on that parade on Saturday. I wasn't raining on that parade. Dude, am I entire take? I looked over at you yesterday, my entire take, and you were just like, you were like, you were not sour puss. That take is not for me. That's not for you. For your legions of blue, what does it mean? It's for the legions of those people. I don't think there's not for me. You're not for me. You were the one who texted me last night, the number of responses that video has gotten, right? Oh yeah, it's almost to a thousand. And so first of all, proof that me being happy is better for the show than the other way. Well, we don't know. We don't know. I'm just going to say there wouldn't be a thousand people commenting on it. If I was miserable. I wouldn't be. We know that. Thank you, TJ.

"He's one of the he's one of the special players in the National Football League. And you know, he kind of knows me. He knows how I do things and when he called me, he said, hey coach, this is going to be a great fit. You're the guy that I want at my university and that meant a lot to me. As will Compton, you've spoken to the boy, have you spoken to will at all? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I told him I wanted to be on the bus at some point. So I needed to be, I need that experience, man. As you go through this process, normally you're at one job and someone calls you and it's like bang bang, but since that was out of work, I had a lot of time to look at all these jobs. And I was, I watched episodes of busting with the boys, you know, I watched all kinds of stuff, getting ready to figure out if this was the right fit. I mean, there are a few people that he would actually bring the bus to. Matt, I think the head coach of Nebraska football is somebody who would actually bring the bus too. You don't have to go schlep to Nashville or anything like that that he's asking me to do. Okay, good. I'm glad that I'm glad that everything is all buttoned up for you to arrive in Nebraska mat rule here on the rich eisen show. Just turning the page back for a bit to the world of the National Football League, Matt rule. They just a macro question. What do you think did not work out in Carolina that you thought was going to work out? What was it? I just think, you know, and I understand why, you know, I just think that I was hired to do a four year kind of a plan. And so the guy that historically in the third year has won, we kind of knew going in and as I talked to the people there, they might take a little longer just because of kind of where we were kind of the end of an era and some great, great players retiring and moving on. And to me, if you tell me, hey, I need you to do it in two years that I'm going to do it differently. I'm going to sign some more free agents. We're going to do some different things. If you ask me to do it in four years and then we're going to build through the draft and I really like the team. I think when they've played well on offense and score points, they've won like they did this past week. It's great to see Sam darnold will go out there and play well. But I think you look at the future of that team, I think is Derek Brown, Brian burns, DJ Moore, JC horn. We were building it to no huge trades and signings, no blockbuster trades to try to get the next year and try to hopefully win this year get to next year. And maybe make a big move or two and be a power team in the league. And so I think Scott Federer, the GM sent a great job. I mean, there are still in contention in the NSC south. There are three and one in the NFC south and that was my job to try to help build a team that could win the NFC south. The mistake I made rich as we just didn't win enough. You have to win enough in years two and three to be able to stay. I would have loved to stick around longer. I was one in four kind of like Ron Rivera was and I would love to stick around longer, but everything happens for a reason. And I'm going to really good place and I'm grateful to Carolina. Do you think if you could wave a wand, have a Mulligan, would you have drafted a quarterback instead in your chance? No, because there was really no one that we shouldn't say that in Justin Fields is playing really well. And Mac Jones is someone that I have a lot of respect for. But sometimes articles come out after you get fired as they say, hey, why did you guys get Justin Herbert? Well, because he got drafted in front of us. And I wasn't the GM. I didn't make the picks. You know, I had a lot of input, I worked with two great guys and Marty hardy and Scott fitter, but I think when you look at the three first round draft picks that we had, Derek Brown, JC horn and it get quite, I think they're all future pro bowlers. So there's some really good quarterbacks that went before us. It would have loved to have one of those guys, but they weren't there. And Mac is a really good player for New England, Justin's running wild right now. So you can maybe look back at those, but I love the guys that we drafted and I just think in time they're going to be great, great NFL players. And now that you've been through the NFL as a head coach, Matt rule and you're back in college where you had obviously the successful years of temple and then Baylor as well. There's just a nonstop conversation that's been going on for quite some time about the difference at coaching on the two levels. What is in your opinion of it now about the difference of coaching on the two levels? I don't think there's a big difference in the coaching. I think you just there's far more moving pieces in the NFL. In college here, kind of I set the vision, everyone goes and executes it. I have a hand in the recruiting. I have a hand and kind of hay the operation. Here's how we're going to do things. Really in the National Football League, there's lots of really great people that all have their role. Have a GM who's got to put together the roster. You have an owner and every owner is different who has to approve things. You have a coach who's got to handle things on the field. And so the actual coaching, I mean, players, players or players, especially nowadays to get kids in college, and they're really savvy, players love being coached by guys who know what they're doing. I just think it's all the other pieces of it. It's all the people, you know, the moving parts in the NFL that have to come together for you to have success. So Matt rule, as I send you off onto the rest of your day to find out what house your life is picked out and so much more. I've enjoyed talking with you and your years being coach of the Carolina Panthers and I'm very pleased to

And y'all know how we turn up on this segment fina gave you all I got. Let me introduce y'all to the big fellas that made plays on Sunday. Let's get you back is game time. Somebody better block him. Hold you doing this. What did he come from? Martin field junior with the real club go get the quarterback. Speak me and people. Hey, yo, listen, man. Listen, I'll be playing video games with my son sometimes and there's some of these games you unlock a new ability. So I'm gonna show y'all what to be MB did this week. We gonna start off with my man Doris Armstrong. Yo, we are like the new ability. We block and puts now. Are you kidding me? Doors are strong coming up the middle on the field. Now they used to call this punt sight. They used to put news like me in the middle of it, but they ain't quit setting up. We gonna make plays without defenders. All game long. Look at the layout. Look at the cape captain save them. Oh, Armstrong comes through and blocks the punt. Y'all know it's some extra special juice on this 'cause it's the Dallas Cowboys. And I'm trying to contain myself from how this season going, but it's a beautiful thing. Next y'all y'all gotta see this spin move. These are the type of things in the meeting on Monday. We go crazy about. Look at my man try on yo, look at this spin move. Look at that athleticism. Matthews don't even know he playing football no more. Morgan's Mario like what the hell happened? I thought it was only four of them. No, it was three Marcus Mariota. It just looked like 17 of them 'cause your office of taco got lost in the sauce. And last but not least, Quinn and Williams picks up a fumble, but that ain't the beautiful part y'all. The beautiful part is this. Now y'all ever sitting up bow fight a rabbit because that's what it looked like. When Quinn and Williams hits tyreek hill like this, Tyree is trying to come. First of all, Tyree, what are you doing? Get out of the way with me and be as rolling. Move. That is a bear hitting the rabbit in the Woods and ain't nobody ever save them. When it went from went from being up as coach to having a sack last night. Is that being a coach? And then this week he picked up a fumble and he knocked Tariq hill silly. That's what happened when you mess with B and B's. You got to be very, very careful. Thinking how athleticism is to be played with winning. Thank you for representing Doris Holmes strong. Blocking punch, you unlocked a new ability dog and try on, I don't know where you got that spin move from, but shout out to Dwight freely 'cause he taught yourself. That's right. I think in my life. That was good. It's back to you. I hate defensively. For the suite. No, you don't. I do. You love this one, though. I love him. Because there's so much more athletic than you? Did you see that there are a lot bigger? Standard is low. Got it. Did you see those play? The Armstrong one. Where do you go to school? Who is he? I gotta find out. Let's get back to Monday night football. The chiefs and the raiders with an AFC west showdown at giha field at arrowhead stadium. We're getting closer and closer to kick-off about three hours away from this one on Monday Night Football right here on ESPN. So Dan, mahomes has dominated the Raiders thus far. Mahomes is 7 and one against him in his career and the chiefs of averaged over 37 points per game in those contests. We're open tonight's a little closer. What's the key to do this again? It's like a funny action and stuff. So I actually want to see if the chiefs are willing to put Patrick under center a little bit more. 12 personnel and go some play action pass. Candidly, if they do that, watch out because they are as good when it comes to their drop back game. Their RPO game all that stuff. But when they put their second tight end on the field and allow this guy really to have the protection that I just kind of detailed a little bit with Daniel Jones, man. My goodness, that's when I think they're chunk plays will become more and more because they're as good as playing that horizontal football and him kicking it out and that stuff is phenomenal. But I want to see tonight 'cause I think they're starting to do it a little bit more and if they started tonight and I'm really going to pay attention to that. Yeah, I think those opportunities will be there. I mean, part of the reason mahomes destroyed the Raiders last year is because they would sit in the house, cover three shells, which he absolutely annihilated, don't expect that tonight, do expect a fair amount of light boxes with the chiefs, have been which the chiefs have attacked Edward soler as averaged 5.8 yards per carry running into light boxes, but you know who else is averaged 5.8 yards per carry running into light boxes. Josh Jacobs. It's almost the same thing on the other side of the ball. Can the Raiders commit to the run game and get the chiefs out of those looks so they can attack downfield, which is not something they've been able to do. I'll be curious to see which defense does a better job stopping the run and which offense can take advantage of those looks and get some explosive plays down the stretch. Now why she the goat because she leaves me right into my parts. Defensively, I know both of these defenses are saying guys. We will not have numbers at times in the box. We have to get the runner on the ground. Right. And the most impressive thing that she's did. Beyond the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense being good was random ball 37 times. Because it was available to us. Right. And then we saw Josh Jacobs as Mina alluded to. This game obviously is my homes and what he does through the air. But this game, a lot of it will tell us early. What team is committed to saying we will run you out of this and not become impatient. Yeah. And the first thing that does that, I think it has a distinct advantage from an offensive perspective. I thought she was the goat 'cause she said covers 6. Yeah, well, that's and Dorne Thompson went to Kansas. By the way, guys. We are all picking the chiefs tonight. Chiefs across the board. You can see the pics right there and our great costumes. Nina's ready to go. Can y'all not screenshot out super wrong, please? Maybe. As Marcus B enemy. Yeah, it is. All right, we'll see who wins, but enjoying Monday Night Football. We'll see you tomorrow. You look big, damn. How would you love a chance to save some money on car insurance? Geico can help. "For Green Bay to overcome. Yeah, I mean, that still takes time, right? We keep showing the video of the batted balls and you talk about just the defensive effort from the Giants overall. A lot of this wind shouldn't be attributed to them, no matter how you look at the packers, right? Yeah, I mean, it's interesting coming on the heels of the Matt rule discussion because we were talking about, okay, what makes a good head coach? What can we attribute to them? Decision making, obviously, play calling. But to me, perhaps the most important thing is, does the coach have their players playing above or below their perceived talent level, and it's undeniable that Brian dabel and his staff are getting the most out of their roster, which by the way, I thought was in sharp relief compared to a Green Bay team that should be more talented than them at most positions. Like packers fans, you can complain about your lack of wide receivers. The leading wide receivers for the Giants were Darius slayton 5th round draft pick who had fallen out of flavor, favor pardon me. Saquon Barkley, a guy that had elevated from the practice squad, Marcus Johnson, they're making the wildcat work in 2022, Daniel Jones is playing within himself. Defensively, that packers defense is so talented. And they aren't playing like it. The Giants defense was missing. Like, half the team. I mean, they didn't have a disease or Laurie. They didn't have Leonard Williams, the secondary was hurt, and it didn't matter because they were playing so hard. That is coaching, and that is a big part of the reason why a lot of people, myself included, have Brian dabel as coach of the year right now. He's a runaway coach of the year. And Mia hits a good point of like getting guys to play better maybe than they actually are. So Daniel Jones, Mike Kafka, their play caller, Brian dabel, have taken his fundamental great flaw. Panicking with the football and when he has it in his hands when bodies are around him and turning the football over. They've done it by committing to keeping him clean and protection. This plays the perfect example of it. Okay, first of all, ball is going to be on the right hash. You guys know me when the ball's on the right hash. I love coaches who take advantage of some space. That is exactly what they're going to do. They now have basically from the right hash over to go attack it. The past concept is going to be a very basic one. You are going to get outside zone run fake and then Daniel Jones is going to boot and set up perfectly. This receiver down at the bottom of the screen when you push vertical, I want you to take these two defenders with you. Now I get to go attack that space, right? As that ball fake goes, this guy's going to carry vertical and here comes slating that Mina just kind of mentioned on that deep cross and the back is a check down for Daniel Jones, it's easy. One to two to three. Simple. But the greatest part of this is this when he gets to the top of his drop. Guys, look at this daggone pocket now. This is why this young man's not panicking with the ball anymore. One, two, three, four, 5, 6, 7 guys in protection, the back could be 8th if he's needed. Daniel Jones is not the situation where he potentially has to panic with the football. They've committed to keeping him clean and then his greatest strength is accuracy is more on display. Check this out. The Giants have called 302 pass plays this year. A hundred of them are just traditional catch a snap drop back football. That means over 200 of them are play action screen, RPO, boot, they've taken his flaw of having to think quicker than he's capable of under chaos and they never put him in chaos. Yeah. He's brilliant. You know the other thing, too? Giving him space to use this athleticism. I know he's dealing with ankle. That happens so often when they commit to that protection. Because he goes, oh, one, two, three, not there. Then he takes off and runs. He went 9 of ten for 99 yards off play action on Sunday has now completed 78% of his play action passes this season. That's second highest. Stay in shotgun. There you go. Guys, new one NFL live from Ben standing of the athletic. Ron Rivera on why other NFC east teams have jumped past Washington is quote quarterback. Dan, not nice for your guy once there. He's not your guy anymore. I know. You talking about is that the legit quote? I mean, because if he did, I mean, if he did, that's completely thrown your back on you. Yeah, I saw the context. He was trying to say they've had more continuity, but of course that's not really the case with Dallas also this. Y'all got the worst defense in the division, and that is Ron Rivera's specialty. Oh, good point, meet up. All right, well. Me and my girl. Let's go, Mina. That's not a Wednesday. It's not a win. Each week, the NFL and our Monday Night Football home team choose to spotlight high school coaches this week. The Kansas City Chiefs have selected two coaches, Andy lehrman from liberty north high in Missouri and drew Harding from lewisburg high in Kansas. Coach lehrman has north liberty eagles sitting at 6 and O and currently ranked number one in class 6 in the state of Missouri while coach Harding in his first year as head coach of the lewisburg wildcat led his team to a big win over undefeated eudora and sit atop the frontier league standings. Congratulations to both of them. Almost time for the best segment on TV, Marcus, what you got. How many people y'all know that can't wait till Monday? Well, that's me, because BNB is on Monday. And I promise the big fella showed out this past weekend in the NFL. I got play after play after play. This is just a small sample size. The unbelievable that this didn't even make be MB.

"If I believe in my team more than maybe the public perception does right now, maybe they call for McCaffrey. McCaffrey's under contract for two more seasons, by the way. Look, when you focus on to your point, Dan, the moves transaction. We know if you're in a rebuild, you are going to not only take trade calls, but you positioning yourself as well. And I was looking at just some of the names on this roster. And the one thing I always related to Carolina is and you think about this team for a long extended period of time, they've always had a nucleus of guys, right? Yeah, these are the programs. So guys like JC horn, Derrick Brown, Brian burns. Those are the rebuild guys. Jeremy chin. Like, yeah, Jimmy said they stay in the building, right? Because not only are they playing at a very high level, they're young, right? You still don't have them for a lot of money at the moment. Birds obviously. But when you look at listening to and you want to establish a winning culture, you got to establish the guys that are going to facilitate that day in and day out throughout your locker room. And some of who you keep is just as important as who you trade. When it comes to everybody that's being implemented into that locker room. Last name off throughout for DJ Moore? Cowboys cowboys. Dallas. Not a bad idea. Yes, indeed. Well, it's interesting because a lot of these cornerstone type players were talking about them keeping our defensive play. Their tenth and defensive efficiency this year, their last and offensive efficiency. That's where the reload really needs to happen. Time for some quick reads on what caught our attention Sunday, Mina, what stood out to you. Oh, how about that jets defensive front? This is Robert sala's vision when building this team. They didn't have Carlos in last year because he was hurt. He showed up in a big way on Sunday. I was writing his name down, John Franklin Myers up front, Quinn and Williams, they barely had to blitz, but it didn't matter. They were getting so much pressure with four. This to me is something that the jets can build on going forward. This defense is for real. Gabe Davis for the buffalo's bills has emerged as one of the best number two wide receivers in all of the NFL. Check this out in his last 6 games. This year and dating back to last year's 8 touchdowns, the average length of those touchdowns, 43 yards. What? Yeah. He is coached by one of the best wide receiver coaches in all of the NFL and Chad hall, who has developed him. The thing that he does for this offense, he can go vertical and they allows Stefan Diggs do whatever he wants. He has become a massive part of their offense. Yeah, he is a true problem. Listen, y'all, we all saw the call. We heard people talk about it. My issue with Grady Jared's situation is, what are you doing? This is what the NFL has to answer for guys like myself that's asking in this particular situation. What does Grady Jerry do? I've been in these situations. You are trying to grab around the waist in our mind. This is the right way. To take a quarterback down to the ground. So ultimately, you've taken away hitting them high, you've taken away hitting them low. You tell us this aim for the center mass of the body, we grab, we turn because our momentum is taking us there and it's still a penalty. Listen, we can have visceral reactions to this call, right? I think the majority of the people I've listened to have said that this was a bad call. But ultimately, what I think that I think the crux of it is, and the foundation of it is, I am playing football and this is the way that you've told me to tackle quarterbacks. Yeah. Every time something happens that looks a certain way, we get a rough in the past opportunity. Because it's up to that particular crew or that particular guy discretion, we are in no man's land as defensive linemen. When we are going psych a quarterback. Yeah. You know, Tom Brady was asked about it, and he said, well, I don't make the calls. I think one of the big key things about this, too, it would have been alarming no matter what, but just the game situation. I mean, it's good to extend the final drive there for the bucks. That really kind of urges you. All right, coming up next, I'm gonna fill live. The Giants stunned the pack in London with their head coach literally drawing up plays on the sideline for saquon Barkley to play quarterback. Here why someone says Brian dabel is coach of the year. Football storylines don't stop. A campaign for a repeat championship and up and coming generation of young quarterbacks and how new coaches fare in their first seasons are among the stories covered on NFL live. And this week, the Giants had the fighting spirit in London versus the packers. That's where we take you now. As we go to London, we're actually going to pick this one up in the fourth quarter store was tied at 20 each at this point second and ten and saquon Barkley is in there. He's going to he was actually down in the third quarter. Why would you go? Shoulder injury. Daniel Jones department. Watch this move. 41 yards. Goodness. The shallow cross dropped coverage and then RC called it a dead femur this morning and they put them in the wildcat, saw that a little bit more yesterday for the first and gold touchdown run. Giants like their first game. Right it matters. Later in the fourth quarter, less than two minutes ago, packers in the red zone third down, Aaron Rodgers, batted by kayvon thibodeaux nearly intercepted by The Rookie there at packers with one more shot next play fourth down story this time. The story of the game, no plan for pressure really out of the Giants defense for the packers offense. Packers unable to convert still down 7, 7 seconds left, one last chance. This before. He's moving it around, but I can be able to do it this time, strip sacked as the clock runs down the Giants win. 27 to 22, that guy you just saw hugging their Brian dabel. He's the story of the game, potentially, Robinson the packers scored 20 points in the first half and they did it through the short passing game as Rogers averaged past attempt in the first half traveled fewer than four yards downfield, but in the second half, they completely got away from that as Rogers averaged over 12 air yards per attempt. He completed less than half of his pass attempts in the second half and the pack was offense was shut out. Marcus Rogers could not finish out that game and, you know, when you think about it, you've talked about that a lot. That's your face for it, man. It happened last season two. Why did it happen yesterday? Because he's not on the same page with these receivers. And I know it's something that we talked about this off season is something that we talked about. Obviously during this year and when you have to have it moments. This is the same thing I said about my homes, missing tyrique. These guys are too good at playing the position to not play well. It's these critical moments which Green Bay is going to find themselves in if they're playing for anything worth note, right? And you look at the end of this game. It was receivers with no separation. And guess what used to happen when you didn't have separation. Devonta Adams would be out there and you would throw it back so then you would catch it. Well, you threw one Allen Allen lazard and it didn't work out. Trying to get the ball off quick passing game. Listen, this is no mistake about batted balls, okay? When I've seen you have a quick release, all game loan, and I know what type of offense you're trying to run, and also I'm not texting us and during the game yet. Yeah, I'm not afraid. I can send zero pressure with devonta Adams not on the field. You think the New York Giants would have sent zero pressure and left devonta Adams man to man against somebody. So this is what this is a part of that development, right? Somebody may develop as the season goes along. It might be Dobbs. It might be Watson. It may be Allen lazard starting to step up and make those plays, but where you find yourself because of that not happening fast enough, maybe too much

This one at 8 eastern on ESPN, ESPN deportes and the ESPN app, our coverage begins with Monday night countdown at 6. Let's welcome in Lisa salters who's on the sideline as always for tonight's game and Lisa the chiefs have won 13 of the last 15 games against the Raiders. New coach Josh McDaniels for the Raiders now gets his first chance to reverse that trend. What does he see as the key for his offense to keep pace with mahomes and get a road win tonight? Yeah, Laura, well, when these two division rivals face each other last season, it certainly wasn't much of a rivalry. The chiefs beat the Raiders 41 to 14 last November, and then 48 to 9 a month later in this stadium. That's a dominant 89 to 23 total for Casey. So the Raiders know they're going to have to put up some points tonight at arrowhead. Head coach Josh McDaniels said, red zone efficiency. That's the point of emphasis this week that when they get down there, they've got to score touchdowns, not field goals. Kansas City is averaging four touchdowns a game that was second in the league behind Detroit to start week 5 with Patrick Mahomes also tied for a league high 11 touchdown passes and perhaps none was as entertaining to watch as the one last week against the Buccaneers. I scramble with a 360° spin and then a crazy push pass to Clyde Edwards a lair in the end zone. I asked Patrick this week about his unconventional throws and he said, he actually practices some of them the no look throws the odd arm angles, he works on those during practice, but the one last week, well, that was all done on the fly. He said, just the last resort to get the ball to Clyde. Yeah, I'm not even sure how you would try and practice that one, but really interesting stuff there, Lisa, we will see you tonight on the game. And let's get now to another top team in the AFC, the ravens hosting the Bengals last night on Sunday Night football, early second quarter ravens up three zero third and 7, ravens in the red zone empty backfilled Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews. Did they play it? It's not a backside counter played man and followed them everybody else played zone. Joe burrow getting his tight end golf. The middle there for Hayden Hurst who, of course, originally started. How about the effort though? I hated Hearst in the midst of a loss was really impressive for Cincinnati last night. Let's go to the fourth quarter Bengals, trailing 16 to ten at the half yard line in borough, he just forces his way in there. Good job understanding that they were really condensed in the middle, so he went off guard, really good job finding the quarterback sneak lane. So ravens get the ball back and Justin Tucker comes out inside the upright to win it. He was going to win it. It's just always a known commodity. They're the ravens win at 19 to 17 and Lamar Jackson led the ravens and rushing yards for the fourth straight game as he continues to do it all for Baltimore. Jackson ranks in the top ten of the NFL in both passing touchdowns and rushing yards this season. He's the first player to rank top ten in both of those categories through the first 5 weeks of the season. Since 1950. I remember watching old Tobin rope play. You were going, you were doing things 1950. You went great for your age then. The markets, the Raymond. It's often really powered through on the final drive to seal the victory. What did you see? Yeah, it was phenomenal. First of all, Lamar took over, right? And his legs was a big part of them getting obviously in the field go range. And this is something we talked about last week with the ravens in the fourth quarter. And it came to fruition again. They had to make a drive. They had to get downfield and get Justin Turk getting Justin Tucker's range, didn't need a touchdown, but when you look at Greg Roman and you think about this offense, it's going to go as 8 goals. And I think at times last week, me and then we went back and forth about like, I saw the receiver open on the fourth down play call. In the end zone the way through a touchdown. Yeah, against buffalo. I saw the receive open. It's a good diagram. It's a good play. But it's not using Lamar, right? And that's what we saw in the fourth quarter. And I mean, honestly, if you look at the ravens down the stretch, right? And we've talked about this team going into the playoffs. So when they were fighting for a playoff spot, I go back to Cleveland when he had to go use the party. And then he came back. You have to go. That it wasn't that. It was that. You have to go through this guy, man. You can not. You can not think that you're going to trick somebody into making Lamar Jackson in the pocket passer in critical moments. You got to put him in those situations. We saw him in open everything else up. I thought it was phenomenal, especially with their fourth quarter walls up until this point in the season. You're a tough guy to make happy. Isha your wife got to be so fed up with the unicorn. Just trying to constantly happy enough. I think this offense got two people back recently specifically last night as well that changes it, Ronnie Stanley, their left tackle. And this offense run game wise is different with JK dobbins on the field. When JK dobbins is on the field with Lamar Jackson, they average 6 and a half yards per carry when they run the football. And the field that they have together in their run game, the pace, the reps that they have, the birth, the power in the way that they're run game is tied together. He just makes this run game that mean I know talk about the beginning of the season wasn't there. He just makes it significantly better. The balance that he has, I thought the play call by Greg Roman on that first and 5 with like a minute ago in the game. And when it was the quarterback power read was one of the best calls of the weekend, but if JK dobbins can stay healthy along with Ronnie Stanley, then this offense certainly run game wise, looks a lot more like the one that we believe can make them AFC playoff contenders. You know, we talked about this so much last season and at times this season, but it is a reminder of how injured the ravens were. Oh my God. Right, he's finally healthy. Mina, let's flip it to the ravens defense. They were the worst passing defense entering the game, but do you think they turned it around a little bit? This felt like a step in the right direction to me. There are new defensive coordinator Mike McDonald came in with a very specific game plan, primarily those split safety cover two quarters cover 6 looks, keep everything in front of them, rally to the football and tackle, and then don't blitz a lot. They showed pressure, but then they dropped out constantly only blitzed Joe burrow on 10% of dropbacks and, well, it worked. Per only completed one pass over 15 yards the entire game only attempted four of them. Now, some of that is on Cincinnati, which is the flip side of this, but I thought as far as coming in with a game plan, executing it, it also showing what Mike McDonald wants the identity of this defense to be, which is of course very different from that man heavy blitz centric. Martin del defense, this felt really good. Now losing Marcus Williams is going to hurt. He wasn't playing in the entire second half, that's their star free safety. But at least this shows you, okay, the rest of the defense can play well, I

"For that, we go right to Adam Schefter. The latest out of Carolina Adam, what can you tell us? Laura, we have the first head coaching casualty of the 2022 season. Earlier this morning, the Carolina Panthers owner, David tepper, walked into the team's training facility, met with the head coach Matt rule and informed him that the two sides would be parting ways after 38 games in which Matt rules served as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. During that time, he had an 11 and 27 record. He walks away with four years left on his contract and essentially David tepper got tired of the direction that the organization was moving in the results that they had gotten recently, the team has struggled to come up with the starting quarterback you see the offensive numbers this year 29th in the NFL in points per game 30th in QBR, 31st and third down percentage. And the worst passing touchdown to interception ratio in the league. All these numbers added up to the fact that David tepper, who's speaking to the media right now in Charlotte, felt like he needed to make a change and so the Carolina Panthers are the first team that is making a change of pointing Steve Wilkes as the interim head coach, the former Arizona Cardinals head coach will have his first game in Los Angeles against the rams on Sunday and Matt rule now obviously has been let set free and his free go back to college football he wants going to TV. He'll have some options, but he can take his time with over $40 million owed to him. He may be a little picky around the college landscape because of that $40 million more from Adam it's coming. We'll also bring you the tepper sound if we get it in time and another reminder too, they've also fired Phil snow the defense of coordinator other members of the staff as well. So, major league cleaning house will get back to you in Kansas City. Adam Dan, the Panthers 11 and 27 under head coach Matt rule. Why make this change now just what are we October 10th in the season? Yeah, the play on the field started to really drop. I mean, I thought this team was a playoff contending football team mainly on the backs of their defense. I think my big takeaway is number one, cautionary tale that the college coaches that come to the league, you can't do it the same way. It absolutely is a different world and Rex Ryan says it all the time. It's immensely. And you can't just think you can copy and paste what you did. Number two, who you bring with you matters just as much as how good you are. And I'll go back to a specific coach, Joe Brady. He brought Joe Brady over who was their offensive coordinator. The play caller from the 2019 LSU team that was incredible with Joe burrow brought him to the NFL and then really moved on from him last year because he wanted to run the football more. Who you have with your staff is just as big a deal and everyone's going to correlate the quarterbacks to this as and then that's fair. I also think it's just the development of everybody as far as a young player specifically your offensive skill talent. Think about this. CMC since he's been there has been hurt. I'm not saying that's the reason he has been. Is Robbie Anderson that much of a better player? No, is DJ Moore that much of a better player? I think DJ is a very good player, but he hasn't gotten better developmentally. Terrorist Marshall junior, Tommy tremble, chuba Hubbard, the development of your young players is just as much important as who you pick in the draft. All right, so we did tell you there is Adam mentioned that tepper is speaking right now. We have some of that. And we'll start here why he made the change at head coach. Listen, as I said, there's numerous reasons why you make a decision. There might have been a little bit of loss of intensity on the field yesterday. I would say that's probably evident versus the first four games. Listen, I have great respect for the fans, and I do hear the fans, but ultimately those that can't be a reason why you make a change like this, but again, there's numerous reasons why you make a change like this. You know, it's interesting what he said. It's about trajectory as well. Like what are you selling to people about the future of your franchise? And one of the things, one of the main things that gets coaches a lot is when their programs become stagnant. We talk about this in college. We talk about it in the pros. Are you going to settle for winning 9, 8, 9 games a year? Or are you trying to turn the page and really become a contender? And I'll tell you this about Panthers fans. Like I lived in Charlotte for three years. Then people crazy about the Carolina paragraph. They show up at a very high level. They are very supportive of that team. And look, temper is trying to put a product on the field and everybody can be proud of. Because let's all remember, this team is not far removed from a tremendous amount of success. The Thomas Davis is the Luke Keeley's of the world. Okay, I'm Newton's of the world. This franchise has some history there of a lot of success and a lot of really great players. So I think to your point, Dan, like the development, but also who are you excited to come to the stadium and see outside of Christian McCaffrey. I'm sure all of that went into this decision. Yeah, I mean, look, Matt rule wasn't dealt the best hand when it comes to the quarterback position. You've been revolving door of passers, teddy Bridgewater, Sam darnold, Cam Newton at one point now, Baker Mayfield. But while it hasn't been the strongest hand, all of those quarterbacks have actually played better in other spots than they did in Carolina. And I think when you're evaluating your head coach, you're looking both at trajectory as Marcus said. And then the question of are you elevating your talent or is it talent playing below where we've seen them play at other stops? You know, moving forward, this is a young, talented team. They will have a high draft pick, maybe more if they make some trades and more likely than they're not. They're going to pick a young quarterback. I think they have to ask, do we have a head coach in mind? Who we can build around with that young quarterback and also do we trust our GM, who's largely presided over some of the decisions made at the quarterback position lately to make that decision moving forward? Yeah, a reminder that they did draft Matt corral in this past draft, but of course he's been injured, so not available. Another thing that's interesting too, however you look at Baker Mayfield, he's now going to be on his 6th head coach in 5 seasons in the NFL. Time now for top stories brought to you by golden corral. Let's get back to Adam Schiff to hear more news from the Panthers. I just mentioned him. This time about Baker Mayfield, what's the latest there Adam? Well, Laurie, he's got a sprained ankle that's going to sideline him. I'm told at least a couple of weeks, which means that PJ walker is in line to start Steve Wilkes first game as the Carolina Panthers interim head coach. You saw Mayfield go down here yesterday. He was wearing a protective boot after the game went through tests today and doctors determining he's out at least a couple of weeks, though he's getting second opinions on what those doctors already told him today. As for the cowboys in their quarterback dak Prescott, he's going to continue to test that thumb this week. He had the surgery for weeks ago. And he still hopefully could come back this week at Philadelphia, probably unlikely the more logical plan would be to have him return the following week at home against the Detroit Lions, which would put Cooper rush in line to start again some at night. And the Miami Dolphins, after losing two of tundra by loa to a concussion, lost teddy Bridgewater to a concussion. So they're tough two quarterbacks were in protocol, teddy did check out yesterday. We'll see whether or not he can go right now. Two is still being evaluated. He's coming along and still sounds like it's unlikely he'll be ready to go this week and we should also mention Laura that deshaun Watson was back in the browns building today going through meetings today was the first day he was eligible to be back. He's not eligible to start practicing with the team until the middle of November, but for now he is back in the building. Adam also a couple more season ending injuries, unfortunate to see, starting with Rashad penny. It was shot painted the Seahawks running back is going to have surgery tomorrow on a broken leg. He is done for the season. The latest blow to a running back who said a lot of injuries and overcome an awful lot to be in the position that he was and the forty-niners starting quarterback Emmanuel Moseley did in fact ACL, which tests confirm today, so the forty-niners lose a key figure in their secondary who was playing perhaps the best football of

"Very nice. Eric and Washington. Eric, this feels like a Friday. Hi, Eric. Good morning, Dan. Good morning. You guys are, you guys are awesome. I'm one of those bipolar people, okay? So I get manic and then I get depressed and you guys build me up every time I'm depressed. You make me laugh and the best this weekend was definitely your Seattle Mariners, making the epic comeback against her onto. And now our town finally gets to see a playoff game. No, it's great. You know? They've been quiet. They hung in there. The entire season and slip in and it's one of those situations where you go. Those teams are always dangerous because they've been playing playoff baseball for a month, just try to make it into the playoffs. This stands for history, Paulie. Got a couple. Let's see, the first one is 1865. The billiard ball was patented by John Wesley Wyatt. 1977, Joe Namath played his last game of his National Football League career, Dan. I'm taking you out of this. Who was he playing for when Joe Namath played his last game in the pros? Dan? Look weird in those uniforms. Look cool though. Los Angeles Rams, the rams. Mark messier in 79 made his NHL debut with Edmonton Oilers. That's it. Marcus Allen rushed for 211 yards on this day, 5th straight 200 plus yard rushing game in a lost Arizona. You mentioned Lawrence Taylor number 56 retired how about this? First team in NFL history to score 40 points, commit zero turnovers and lose. The previous teams were 463. When having at least 40 zero turnovers and still lose. It happened on this date in 2021. Last season. Does anybody remember that? No. Okay. No. The one to answer something right. The browns. Browns lost to the Chargers 47 42. And chargers just played the browns yesterday. Let's see with that. Welcome to K all right. Todd, what did you learn today? Would you dump players? Two weeks, three weeks before the trade deadline? Someone needs a running back, you have an expensive running back who's off injured. First time we call our 5 9 and a half a stout solid two 40. All right. It's all head weight, by the way. When I was a walk on for the Florida Gators way back. At that diminutive stature, I had the biggest head on the team. Size 8 helmet. So it's all headway. But who cares? Thank you. Wait, wait, Tommy gets a chance to do the best and worst of the weekend. Come on, Marv. There'll be some me. Hi, Tommy. What happened? I missed march. Mean comment. No, no. He was going to hang up on you, and I said, no. Oh, jeez. Okay, I don't mean to anyway. Where should the weekend is what's up with the Jags? They just have no identity. It's an identity crisis. That cooled off quickly. Head cooled off quickly. What is that about? That was confusing. That was the worst of the weekend. The best of the weekend. You guys were talking about big stout characters in athletes from Kansas. We just had delivered from Kansas. "Want to see that make them want to tune into that. Yeah, see. The rule's been around for like four years. I think in 2018, it was just enforced poorly here because it was such a soft bit of contact. It seemed like, right? Yeah. But I don't agree with the idea that just because the game is violent, you can't try to make it safer. Yeah, but it's always going to be violent. Right, but you can still make it safer. Yeah. I mean, NASCAR, you're still going 200 miles an hour and they put padding in the walls. I agree with that. Do we get to the point where they wear those helmets that they wear in the preseason? Will they wear those during regular season games? I'm curious about that. If the NFL truly wanted to make it safe, there's ways of making it safer. Like NASCAR, if they ever want to make it safe, they would go 90. Yeah. And they're never going to do that. But it's like hockey. Okay. How about no fighting? Wait, that's part of hockey. Okay, well, then, you know, it's still going to be in the game. You're going to have some vicious fights in there. Yes. You have like the Hans device made it safer. I don't think anybody's upset about that. They were at the time. The drivers did not want to wear those things. They have quite a few drivers. Earnhardt, I didn't want to. But I think when you have a sack or a hit, a play, and then you go, come on. So the Tom Brady play from and I'm watching it again. you get is that defensive lineman is swinging Tom Brady, slinging him to the ground, and maybe it's going to have a, in a way that will have the same blunt force that you had to have.

Panthers' Matt Rhule Is Making a Bid for Best NFL Coach This Season

"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. That outside of right tackle graded poorly left. Tackle all the way to right guard. What matt rule is doing with this sub optimal often. It's of line. The scarce number of three out the revamping rebooting of sam darnold is really mind-blowing

Carolina Panthers, OT Taylor Moton Reach Four-Year, $72M Extension

"Taylor moton. The panthers offensive tackle agreed to four year. Seventy two million dollar contract that included forty three million dollars at sony. And so he becomes. We believe the only franchise tag player to get a deal done before. Today's deadline now. Keeping months and other franchise deals did go on alert this season. The giants gave leonard williams of big extension. The broncos gave justin simmons of big extension but on the last day the franchise players can sign long-term extensions. This season taylor. Moton appears to be the only one that got a deal on matt. Rhule's of big taylor moton fan and it was evident in the type of deal that they gave him today. A big deal for young offensive

"A real shot to do well in the NFL until now, the Carolina Panthers traded for me. Again, twenty-four years old South Carolina, he's finally going to get some support and more importantly, some stability, some people who are competent running the team. I, the Carolina Panthers do not have the best roster in the NFL. We'll talk about that in a moment. But he's going to get a good owner. David Tepper, a good coach, Matt rhule a guy who turned around Temple turned around Baylor. Now he's working on turning around the Carolina Panthers They're getting an awesome offensive coordinator. Sorry they have a great offense of coordinator Joe. Brady remember Joe Brady couple of years ago is the coach who helped Joe burrow go from a nobody else was probably like going to be. It was projected to be like a seventh-round pick. And with the help of Joe Brady at LSU in college, Joe burrow went from nobody to a superstar Heisman Trophy, winner number and overall pick the quarterback we see today. Now again, a lot of that is cuz Joe workers but off, but it certainly helps in you got a good coach. So now Sam darnold, has that coach? Oh sweet. Great ownership. Great coach. Great offensive coordinator, helping the Panthers, have some solid Talent. They have Christian, McCaffrey running back and get you out of the backfield really, really well too, but Hubbard they drafted this year DJ Moore is an underrated receiver. They have Dan Arnold, a sneaky good receiving today and go watch, Dan Arnold highlights. Didn't have a lot of cats would have a couple of catches in Arizona, recently. Where like, oh my gosh, this guy's an underutilized Talent. I'm excited to watch him and Carolina. Now, I am all in. I truly believe the Panthers, got their franchise quarterback and they did it for a bargain. They got a great deal, they traded a second-round pick for Sam darnold, a couple late, round picks and next year's NFL draft and the impact of getting a new team, a chance to reset your career. To.

"Good. So i just don't i just don't agree bringing in a i mean teddy. Bridgewater was not the answer but trading for sam darnold at bringing him in here. I mean is it a one year plan is probably just a one year plan and they want to give a young kid. A chance as opposed to an in older veteran like like teddy bridgewater. Okay okay but you're not gonna win many games this year. And maybe that's just maybe that's not the point. You know when when you when you allow curtis samuel to walk. You're not exactly surrounding darnold with a whole lot of options there. I mean they're gonna get christian. Mccaffrey back and he's obviously the biggest weapon in this offense. He was limited to just three games last year due to an injury so getting one of the one of the best all purpose running backs in football back into the offense that should help sam darnold. He's never played with anybody like christian mccaffrey. Before so a mccaffrey is healthy. That will be a boon to the carolina. Offense and curtis samuel was one of their better wide receivers. He left the team via free agency to washington but he does have some wide receiver. He does have a couple of wide receivers that went over one thousand receiving yards last year. Robby anderson dj more both had more than one thousand receiving yards last year so if the offensive line and carolina can do a better job protecting him than the one in new york maybe me. He played with robby anderson for a couple of seasons when when anderson was with the jets he. They obviously didn't play together last year because it was anderson's first season with carolina. But now you know maybe there's a little bit of a connection between darnold and robby anderson and dj more emerged as a as a as a good wide receiver last year so there are some weapons at his disposal. You've got robby anderson you've got dj more. You've got christian mccaffrey. But you also have an offensive line. That is still an issue. They're hoping that irving can stabilize that unit a little bit Going out going out in the off season and grabbing cameron guy. That you're hoping can can help out a little. But it's still going to be an issue and sam darnold is going to have to around a little bit in the pocket if he's going to if he's going to be able to put some points on the board for carolina when you look at the defensive side of things horns should provide carolina with a lockdown corn one side of field. But you know. I thought i thought for sure ser tan was going to go before him in the draft. I thought for sure that the consensus was patrick's or ten was was better than jc horn. And if i were. The eagles. And i had those two guys to pick from. I would have taken ser tan before horn so interesting decision for carolina to go with horn in in that particular case in front of ser tan earlier. I think i messed up. And i said that the panthers picked one spot before the eagles. They're actually two spots in front of the eagles. So that's my mistake. They picked number eight not number nine. And that's where they took. Jc horn At number eight obviously and then You know patrick ser. Tan went Went to the denver broncos at number nine overall which is the eagles had moved back by that point and took devante smith at at number ten but of course the eagles were sitting at number number twelve and traded up a couple of spots number tend to go get them onto smith anyway. We all know that story I was surprised that horn went before. Sir tannin so that's a little bit of a of a risk. I think thereby carolina but they certainly feel like they've gotten a lockdown corner on one side of the field which should certainly help them and he joins jeremy chinn. Who was one of the best. Defensive rookies in the nfl. Last season could have been an eagle would have been really great to see him at safety So i think the eagles Certainly missed one there. And so you've got two young guys there that could really give carolina very good secondary pass. Rush is the big question mark for the defense they will need guys like brian burns and Gross nato's to try and get some get some pressure on the quarterback. But that's going to be a little bit of tall order for those guys as they as they try to recover from a five eleven record. Matt rhule's a good head coach. I think most people think that he's got that team pointed in the right direction. But i think you could be looking at another rough season for the carolina. Panthers here in twenty twenty one. And that's a game that i would. I don't know if i'd pick the eagles to win since it's an away game but it certainly given the eagles. Ken win against a team. That is dealing with a lot of the same issues that they are before we hit the brake. Let's talk about the super bowl champion. Tampa bay buccaneers. Of course they went eleven and five last year finished in second place in the nfc south but again went on that postseason run and really dominated the kansas city chiefs in super bowl. They're bringing the band back. Everybody conditions re signings are mostly re signings wide receiver. Chris godwin tight end. Rob gronkowski defensive tackle and dominik and sue edge rusher shaquille barrett linebacker. Levante david kicker ryan suck up Running back leonard fournette and wide receiver antonio brown key draft editions edged rusher. Joe ty tryon quarterback kyle trask and key departures offensive tackle. Joe hagan a quarterback ryan smith. So bruce arians team is running it back this year which makes sense after a surprise super bowl win over the chiefs last season. All twenty. two. Starters are returning this season barring injury it all starts of course with the goat. It all starts with tom. Brady and i will freely admit to you. I was wrong about tom brady. And the buccaneers last year. He was not washed which i thought he was. In his last season with new england. I thought time had caught up with tom brady. I thought he was washed but he clearly was not. Tom was very dry as it turns out He he played unbelievably well last season and listen. He's got great players around him. He's got a top five wide receiver. Duo in football. And mike evans and chris godwin. Of course godwin gets the franchise tag this summer. Rob gronkowski is back for another season and they have great second tight end and maybe break maybe candid camera..

"15 and two, I can't do the math. I know the schedule change like, I couldn't do math before like, sixteen games was a lot easier. Now, you're asking me, this is like trigonometry want to keep saying teams that are mediocre and I'm like, I can't say 8:00 and 8 anymore, anyway, I don't know. So I look the Patriots went in there and killed the Chargers last year. It's completely different coaching staff. Brandon Staley is now the head coach, you know, I think a lot of Justin Herbert, I just think that it looked the Patriots going to have to start losing some games. And so, I have them for a little bit of a lull right here at the middle of the season. So I have them 6 and 2. And, and also, we might as well stay on the Panthers look dead. I know a lot of people especially around here. Don't know much about the Panthers. I just know. I've, I watched them a few times last year, I like the way Matt rhule coaches. I like the way they compete now. They have seen. Sam darnold. Yes. The Patriots are familiar with him but I haven't not another loss for them in that one. So I have them 6 and 3 after week, not, I have them down against the Chargers up against the Panthers. I do think they should be Carolina at Carolina. I don't think the Panthers are there just yet to me. There about a year away and I also, I like Sam darnold an awful lot when he came out, I thought he was easier franchise, call back but New York, destroyed that dude, and we've got to see if they destroyed him for the rest of his career or ship walk into Carolina and looked like a new guy and I just can't erase the history of Donald versus the Patriots. So I will go with New England beating Carolina in that game. So I guess I have them at what 7 and 2 right now. We've got Cleveland in Foxborough as I just mentioned off the Browns, legitimately have one of, if not the most talented rosters in the game, an offseason where they added to their defense over and over and over again. I think Andrew berries on a fantastic job. Kevin stefanski has helped transform Baker, Mayfield. More play-action, more bootleg action with Baker. Your thoughts on Browns pass? Yeah, I think it's going to be a great game. I am, I do agree with you. I think the Browns have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL but I do think they're still the Browns. I do think there's a disconnect I just think about, you know, and there were probably be a law someplace else..

Where do the Cowboys go from here? To the trade deadline — but as sellers instead of buyers

"The Cowboys easier to write about when they win or when they lose? Uh, they're easy to write about what they lose. When they win. People feel good. You sell more newspapers when they win. That's a proven thing. So there's that. But, man what you know now, sometimes when they're bad, they're just not interested. And they just kind of go away. Like I don't know what it's like to right about when the Detroit Lions are bad. They probably just people are waiting for the Red Wings to drop the puck. But when the Cowboys are bad, there's usually nine different things in Iraq, And this year there, there might be that might be multiplied. So there's you can just pick out of a hat. And and and go from there. What is Jerry? June Jones do now? You know, one of the really disappointments with serious disappointments, obviously of code. But one of the rial lighter disappointments of this year is that he doesn't do press conferences after every game, because I can't imagine. What level he would have reached yesterday. Um, you know, it's Tze one thing to get beat up by Seattle or airy Arizona's offense. They can't stop the run. With anybody, not the Washington football team. They run for over 200 yards. And if you want to pick one area of the Cowboys that does not beat up my injuries. Their front seven They've got Jalen Smith. They got banned arrest. They've got the Marcus Lords they've got. They've got elegance. They got Everson Griffen. They got Tyrone Crawford. They got guys were supposed to be there, and they can't tackle anybody. And then you have the hit on Andy Dalton and that nobody seems to concern about the chief shot by Jon Bostic. That wasn't it took the announcers of minutes to kind of recognize, but they did eventually, So okay, that's that's a brutal Yep. Be Amari Cooper is standing there and there's others around there had to be a number of players see it. I would think the entire offensive line and to see it. On nothing. Nothing at all. I mean, I can't imagine. If that was Dad getting hit like that that they wouldn't have done something but that that just pointed to the the give up factor of this team they looked like in the first quarter. They're out there to see when it's going to go badly, and you know how much it's going to feel like a ground hog day. They got nothing on either side of the ball, but quitting is worse than losing to him. Yeah. And of course, coaches will always and players will fight. You didn't quit. Everybody has a great attitude by when you see something like that, and when you see it That And when you see a team that just gets gassed in the run and announcers every week, whether it's the money, night crew or yesterday was was Moose. Ah lot of destroyed job back and they get very quickly. The out of position on these place. They really get outflanked quickly without defense. I mean, they're they're talking around the fact that team looks very poorly prepared and has no idea what to do in the players. Never respond if Jerry had to do over coaching. Well, I mean, that's what What was it about Mike McCarthy flying in and spending one night at the Jones house and all they were just so wowed by this guy. They couldn't believe it. Now, what have you seen in any game that he brings? You didn't call the plays so anytime the offense was playing well earlier in the year, That's Kellen Moore is offense. So what is he doing over there that he brings Emily brought in all these coaches? Guys he had in Green Bay 10 years ago. Mike Nolan, who hired him 20 years ago. It's just this. This cronyism tied coaching staff. And you wonder, and you wonder how much Jerry thought about like a mat rule. He mentioned Matt Rule one time last December, just after Baylor played in the Big 12 championship game. What a great young coach to thought. Matt Rhule wass. And you're Matt Rhule took over a team that was just God awful and got ready Cam Newton, and they released whatever they are three and four. They compete. Uh, yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know that he wouldn't like to rethink this lot. Now it's the first year so I think both the pandemic the DAC injury, the offensive line being completely wiped out. Those going allow the coaches to skate for year. But he has to be thinking this. This may have been a Terrible higher. The Cowboys buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. You know, I don't think they have a lot to sell. I heard somebody saying trade one of their wide receivers. They don't need that many hundreds of it. That's the one thing they have is good wide receivers. You want to trade one of those go You know, Draft Ah, linebacker with a neck injury. That's what that's what excites you about rebuilding the team. I don't think they will do much. There's certainly not Myers, they get by. I mean, I don't know why in the world you would add. Do it to a terrible collection of talent as this many injuries, but I don't expect him to do a lot, actually.
