Roger Federer's back, briefly

"Hello folks woke until mid week tennis. Podcast a podcast. That was very nearly recorded on wednesday evening. Following roger federer's first much back after fourteen month hiatus at three win over. Brit dan evans. How different might that. Podcast have sounded. Had it been recorded yesterday versus being recorded now of to his three-set loss to nikoloz bassett villi. That is the punchy question that i put to you. David law and matt. Roberts whoever wants to take it. I think i should say that. It's because of matt. Roberts said we're recording it now and not if i had my way which was last night because i was a bit ivory excited to just get chatted. We've been so overexcited that it would now be out of date. How how different need. I think what i'm getting at is different. Do we feel about wherever resort. And what he's capable of off the two matches than we did after one arm in a similar place but matt watched both matches more closely. So i'm going to defer to matt. Hospital pass might enjoy. I think yesterday we would have been extremely positive about federer. And i think today we probably should still be positive about federal because federer is being positive about federal and i think we should take him at his word and agree that this has been a good week for him. He gained the matches that he wanted. He felt pretty good on the court. Arise maybe didn't always align with that viewpoint today There was there was a moment in his match today where his movement did really stop almost altogether and it was quite difficult to watch at times. But i think that's a difficult thing to do to have tempered. Expectations of roger federer. But it's absolutely what we need to have and he's upbeat. He said he's already over. It flew into his press conference after the loss. Today said he's over. It is positive generally and therefore i think we probably should be as well but we certainly have a lot more data to go on now that we've seen him play this match as opposed to just one match against evans because they two totally different matches for him and we'll talk about both of them he. He was asked Today as he said my in that very immediate post loss press conference i how. How long will this take to get over this loss. Read compared to previous losses similar level tournaments similar. Sages at already over. It sounding like you know when you've been broken up with an ally. I'm completely fine. I'm completely fine. he was. He wasn't right for me anyway. I never wanted to win this tournament. It wasn't it wasn't dubai is going to be better in dubai but and yet it also as you say. We should believe him me. You know what. I d believe him i he. We should probably feel fine about it could kiss. He feels fine about it. David yeah a. I would say that occasionally impress coinc- he said everything's fine and then isn't fine line a back problem or something like that. But i thought when he came out yesterday and play his match against down evans that he started off playing very carefully moving very carefully. He wasn't explosive he was he was balanced. He was good. He looked serene the way often does and he was striking the ball very well but i just felt like he was inevitably be very careful. And that changes. The match tone in evans pushed him in. They played they played good close competitive match But and at the end federal showing some real explosive tennis in some and he was getting Any any finished with a winning. So i thought that was really really good but there was a euphoria about him yesterday. Which was all build apple. High pulled a chats. He was excited. Because he's he's like a little kid in a sweetshop isn't even. He's playing tennis and when the is on him he loves it. He loves it. He's always has but today. I mean i didn't see all of the match because i was watching. Arena against gubbay mcgruder. And i left federal watch to you both but then when that finished i turned over and i was less alarmed than i thought i would be given what i was reading on twitter. And what what i was just hearing generally because i think he was fife on down listening in the second set maybe even lose that set six one zero six to eight yeah and it was definitely the latter stages if that second set would definitely sort of hidden hope connor by a around about that time. I did actually have a little chat. we don evans on. What's up. 'cause he was watching the match he was watching the match back and he said of course he's of course he's naked and we play hard much the night before and he's he's any she referenced the kind of all of the check before the match and before the tournament ties you out and you hit you hit a bit of a wall in and it's not really surprising. The blacks thirty nine. He's going to be forty later this year. He's hasn't played for thirteen months. And now he's played six sets in twenty four

Texas dentists may give coronavirus vaccines to ease demand

"Want to be able to give covert shots. Dr. Matt Roberts with the Texas Dental Association says it makes sense since they already do shots every day. Absolutely Yes, there are. I think quite a few Dennis that feel like that were qualified to do the vaccine and would like to do the vaccine, he believes adding dentist's office to the list of places people could go for the vaccine would help with spiking demand.

I've spent all of my professional life being paid. "His his. He's not session much tonight. Interesting straight-sets for team yet very really very very disappointing. underarm serve from that was the fees. Didn't bring anything different to the core apart from that. One underarm serve. You're waiting for him. He's lost eight in a row against team often loses these big matches. What's he gonNA do differently? Just wasn't really anything teams just a better supply of fees and afterwards team came into his press collins. Matt Roberts went to it I did yes and I wanted to ask you about why still working with Thomas Muster. Just a week after two weeks we started working with Thomas Muster so stephen and he said the first thing he said is nothing bad happened he was. He was keen to stress that and he said it's just a feeling I have that. It wasn't wasn't going to work Cyprus team and I said why because that feeling what is that feeling and he said well. I'm twenty six now and I just think I know my career and I know when something doesn't feel right which I thought was quite a mature answer really because there are a lot of people who I thought maybe he stayed with Bresnik a little bit too long that partnership had run. Its course long maybe a year or so before he actually decided to split with him. Take on my Su so it was quite a mature answer and then he says actually. He's really happy with his team that he's got is what really well so then I wanted to to ask. Why did you want muster in the first place if you're happy with your team and it was working well and I was cut off in the conference moderator? I look I think most of the people who run the press conferences here really good And very experienced I'm not sure who. The particular person was an instance I think in that and and I think when when a player is being kind of hectic or harassed about a particular subject that they've made it clear they don't want to talk about at some point. I've moderated a lot of press conferences at some point. You you do have to step in and say the plight is one answer ceremony. Let's let's move on something else. I read the transcript off of the press. They're and dominic sanded as he was fine with it In that particular instance. So that's that's unfortunate. He's do feel two days away from that match. Do you feel that. He has a real chance against the Dow. Yes I mean Mark.

"Today with my co-host. Matt McGrath, Matt Roberts flying the plane in the production today. So we appreciate it for that. So this is a show that's about trading and investing in the financial markets. Really? It's about well how you could potentially learn about the markets. And then manage your own long term investments, at least put yourself in a position where you know, if you've got a financial planner. If you've got a petitionary that's this, managing your accounts in the financial markets. How cool would it be to go into a meeting with that person and understand what they're talking? Right. Right. And the fact he's workshops that we give away on the commercial breaks, a lot of people attend those workshops because they will learn about the language of the markets now and they are on little bit better footing. When they have that meeting. Next time imagine if you were able to ask them, intelligent questions. Right. You know, when you know last year, we mentioned this all the time market went through three corrections three different times last year, the market fell by ten percent. Imagine if when you were meeting with your financial adviser you could ask them. Why don't you have protective puts in place to protect those long term investments that I have? But I lost ten percent on three times. So you're bringing up language that made a lot of people if they're not familiar with the markets, when you say a protective put in there like I'm changing the channel you now, this is why we need to learn right? Yeah. You know, put as an option strategy if you're unfamiliar with that term and option is simply it's legal and binding contract that allows you to either buy or sell a specific quantity of asset on before the expiration date. My so the put refers to a sell order. Or in other words, you have the right to sell the assets that are in your portfolio. So now what's interesting is that several years ago, I set forth to put together some type of retirement stuff for the employee's at Online Trading Academy, and the 4._0._1._K kind of made the most sense, and I didn't want to manage, it didn't want anybody at the Senator manage just because we're not licensed to new so and since other ploys money would be going into this. So I set forth to go find a fiduciary. Or a company that manages 4._0._1._K's, then deploy deploy these put option strategies to protect the money that we invest in this account and the problem is mad as I couldn't find anybody who would do it now. No. And the reason that I kept getting over and over again, was that they weren't licensed in the capacity that would allow them to deploy option strategies in this retirement account. So we had to kind of a different direction with it. We are successful at deploying that but we had to kind of change it a little bit. So, you know, it's not as easy as you think it is. But if you're do it yourself, or you can do you can do a lot of things in your IRA, because you don't have to be licensed to manage your own money. You're not as regulated. I mean, they're still regulations that come into play, then you need to follow the rules, but you can do that. And by the way, this is what a hedge fund manager done if you've heard of a hedge fund before the way that they hedge the investments that they invest in is through put op. Shen. They deployed put option strategies by. And I'll tell you what else is kind of cool about this put option, you know, because there is an expiration date on it. You don't want to let them expire. So you know what you do is you refresh the strategy your refresh your options and you sell them as you go, right? That option. By the way, when you first purchase it, and he'd have to pay for them when you first purchase it, we'll you're covering. Maybe for what you paid for the stocks that are in your portfolio while those stocks go up in value. Now the put option isn't as valid as it was. You need to refresh that option. Sure, put the old ones up on the market for sale. And there are people that want to buy those those assets. So it's pretty cool strategy that you can deploy your long-term account, but you gotta know how to do it. Sure. It's a way for you to protect your money. And then, you know if the market started going down we go through a correction, what you can do is you can look at things like inverse ETF's exchange traded fund doubt. This is an exchange traded fund is simply I'm gonna just call it a. Basket of stocks. It's not always just stocks, but it's and they, they might mimic the return of a specific that we follow. Let's say the SNP five hundred for example, by acid P five hundred is comprised of America's five hundred largest companies that are publicly traded, and it's pretty stable, isn't it? Wouldn't you say that most stable of all, that's the index that most professional traders investors follow because it's a very broad and? What most retail traders looked at as the Dow. But that's kind of a narrow index right? You're thirty largest fan, right? The doesn't create a very good picture of what's going on role in the market. So I would recommend the SNP. So the what we do with so ticker symbol, Espy Y, that's exchange traded fund, and they trade just like stocks new so you can buy and sell them daily, if you want to, I'm like your mutual fund, which you know what? We're trying to get diversification in mutual fund prize better money, across a lot of different companies and then take the blended return. The does the exact same thing. Now it's diversified as well, but it doesn't have the fees out of the mutual fund and as you've mentioned earlier, because he can be traded. We can place options on them to show them. So the great point by the light as. So. Most of these ATF's have not all of them had a companion exchange traded fund and so civil Espy y the standard and Poor's it mimics the blended return of the s&p five hundred. So if that blended return is a negative number a negative percentage than that particular exchange traded fund is going to go down. However, it's companion, which is take your civil S H will go up indirect directly proportion to the presenting as PY goes down. And a lot of people understand that you don't have to just sit there and take it, you know, take it on the chin over and over again, when the markets are falling like we did back in two thousand eight or during the three corrections we had last year. Yeah. If your agile enough, you can go ahead and get your money back deployer option strategies if you have to ride, and then turn around and put it in something that's going to go up, well as the overall is, we need to manage that money. Right. You know, prior to two thousand really wasn't necessary to manage the long term about anything you are. Holding onto went up by nine or ten percent a year. And a lot of people's you mentioned earlier got wealthy during that time. But know the market's only average three and a half percent of the last nineteen years. That's right. This is not the same market. It was before them. So if you are looking to get superior returns, you do better than two or three percent a year. You have to manage it. And the good news is, that's the part of what we teach here. That's not time consuming. Remember, we're not trading from that long-term account. Right. Simply holding a diversified portfolio of exchange traded funds, what you just mentioned, and then periodically placing options on them to ensure them, right?.

"I'm in studio today with Matt McGrath in Matt Roberts is in the production studio producing the show for us today. Well, we were talking about trading, which is high frequency buying and selling in the markets. How that's one of the skill sets that we teach our students at the Trading Academy. Now, the other activity, though, that is important to talk about, as well as of course, investing in the markets. And I think everybody's I think probably everybody that's listening to my voices familiar with this concept, you take chunk of body. You set it aside, you're gonna invest it in the financial markets. So you're buying assets, you'll buy and hold over a great length of time. You're helping those appreciate overtime. Yeah. You want to go up in value. Obviously, I think most people are familiar, of course, with the concept of a 4._0._1._K, a lot of Americans have their money, and that's their life savings that they're checking away in that 4._0._1._K. By the way, I'm not going to be. Antagonistic. Is that the right word about the 4._0._1._K? Choose the right antagonistic. I mean, negative about the 4._0._1._K. Yeah. I mean to the extent, I am going to be okay. So. The coolest thing about the 4._0._1._K, is that if you've got an employer willing to match any part of your contribution. Well, that's just an immediate guaranteed return on your money, right? So that's the coolest part about it. The the downside to the 4._0._1._K is that it is a by hold investment, meaning that the investments that occupies space, as far as inventory, and that 4._0._1._K typically mutual funds or comprised of baskets of stocks, and if the overall return on those companies that are invested in that go down will then the value of your account goes down. Right, that the money is not protected to in a foreign one of the mutual funds you've chosen when you signed up for the 4._0._1._K now. We're gonna lose money, right? I wanted to add something else. Chris, you've mentioned that, you know, the big benefit of four one K, obviously, is the company, typically matches that's free money that they're contributing. Right. So we start off ahead, one of the most alarming things in my career as lately, in the trade plan meetings. I do with students, I'm seeing more and more people were they're contributing to their 4._0._1._K and therefore one k does not match kit. And I'm here to tell you I just had one of those meetings last week if you're contributing to your four one K and they're.
