"O P. Traffic. Hey, Matt Ritter. We could have a little action this afternoon. Yeah, Later on towards the heart of the evening rush. It looks like there's a cluster of strong thunderstorms in the middle of West Virginia right now in the Panhandle of Maryland. Moving eastward because of all this heat because of all this humidity, the atmosphere is pretty unstable. So we have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the entire area, except for Saint Mary's County in southern Maryland. That's just a technicality. I think there's potential there as well. Later on, it's all the way all goes all the way until 10 PM of this evening, as this line of storms moves into this extremely unstable air mass Close to the I 81 corridor are far western suburbs. I think any time after four o'clock is when you can start seeing some of the stronger storms and at the heart of listening area in the Beltway area, a little closer to five o'clock, and there's going to be a possibility of another round after sunset this evening something to monitor not abundantly clear right now, at any rate round one during the evening rush hour record has a really strong wind gusts, maybe as high as 70 MPH in some of the stronger storms. And of course that can cause some wind damage, in the meantime, is just becoming mostly cloudy. Right now, with all this heat with all this humidity, temperatures to be falling through the eighties this evening as the storms arrive overnight tonight, all the storms any lingering storms that is will be out of here by midnight, then warm and muggy and uncomfortable with some patchy fog will be in the upper sixties to mid seventies. Tomorrow, the actual cold front itself causing this will be moving through. It's going to bring us around of steady rain that will be arriving in the morning. And it could be moderate, heavy at times through the lunch hours with an occasional thunderstorms. But then it will be ending by the evening rush tomorrow. Warm and muggy, but turning cooler and less humid in the evening and high temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the mid upper seventies. Temperatures will probably be falling behind the Cold front later later in the day, and then Wednesday and Thursday, look gorgeous, Mostly sunny, warm and pleasant and comfortable. High as both days will be in the upper seventies to right around 80. In the meantime, we have 90 degrees in Manassas, 91 in Gaithersburg, in his 88 at Washington. Reagan National. Alright Matt, thanks to 51 now. W t o p. The Supreme Court rules on another high profile case, And once again it's a unanimous decision. The justices.

The big story Right now, the winter storm warning that is still in effect along the route, 15 cord or otherwise, we are under a winter weather advisory. It is coming down those early morning rain has turned to snow. Let's get the latest from Storm Team four meteorologist Matt Ritter. What's the shoveling situation gonna look like in driveways around the area? Gonna be wet the bed. The inches that people are going to be measuring of the snow are not going to be all that big, but it's heavy. It's wet. It's very compacted. Good snowball snow, and it's all gonna freeze solid later on tonight, especially north and west of D. C as a really cold temperatures are on the way. But right now it looks like most of the heavy snow was breaking up just a little bit, see a lot of light to moderate snow, occasional heavy snow. Some big, wet snowflakes from time to time, But we're well past the halfway point of this fast moving storm, and just about all of its going to completely out of here, close to the noontime Our some of this will change back to a little bit of light rain and drizzle but again. After we measure this snow and start to clean things up. We're gonna be talking about the re freeze later on tonight. All those details coming up a little bit later, John. All right. Thanks a lot, man. It's now 9 32, and it is also Super Bowl Sunday night when some awesome parties full of delicious food and beer kick off all.

"Caution. You're gonna have a mix. Mixed bag throughout this morning as the roadways are slowly getting coded and hearing from our friends in southern Maryland, where they're supposed to be just rain listener said he's in bailout in and has some snow flakes wanted Matt Ritter to know that by big flakes, maybe passing through nothing sticking so far 301 if we get to the Beltway on the Prince George's County side earlier crash that was interlude passing joint base, Andrews that is officially gone. Roadways on the Maryland side, Looking better? Nothing on 95 from the capital Beltway. Through the Baltimore Beltway, however, listener was calling about the big flakes of snow passing through there, in most of our camera shot, seeing a lot of wet pavement. Bottom line, Not a lot of cars out, So when it does start to stick, it will stick well. And if you see something can tell us what you're seeing on your commute called the W T o P Traffic center 866304. W T O p Married to pump the W T o P TRAFFIC Storm Team four meteorologist Matt Ritter, What's going on outside today? The atmosphere is cooling down, John, We're seeing more more reports of the rain changing over to West. Oh, right now, the NASA is now reporting some snow Stafford Fredericksburg reporting some snow, the airports there. Warrant in Culpeper s O. The rain Snow line is working its way from the west to the east, and if you're still getting of that cold rain, he'll be seeing warm or big, wet snowflakes mixing in than changing over to plane. Of playing a snow over the course of the next hour or two at this, so the process of cooling the atmosphere down is continuing at the same time. It's a race against time as the storm system is moving up the mountains heading towards the coast very quickly, and this is all out of here by early afternoon, So it's gonna be another one of those situations where we're dealing with the rate of accumulation versus the rate of melting because not everything, not every snowflake that makes it to the ground is going to stay snow. It's gonna melt, too. We're looking at a net accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Very wet, very slushy, compacted snow. By the time this all wraps up and temperatures will be staying into 30, some of us are about 5 to 10 degrees cooler that we were just a couple of hours ago when the storm really started as that rain now will be getting some more melting of the snow on the ground late this afternoon into this evening, also live in the drying out and then temperatures will plummet overnight tonight. So we're gonna have a significant re freeze late tonight and early tomorrow morning as tonight's lows will be the upper teens to the mid twenties, so the wintry impact will continue. You into Monday morning's rush the rest of the day tomorrow be just mostly sunny and cold Highs will be in the low to mid thirties, and we'll take a look. We're doubly GOP traffic Storm team 44 Day forecast in we're goingto bring in live now Matt Ritter again. He's watching the rain tonight. That way we had written earlier today. Dimitri and we're getting more now, and it's starting to become some more soaking rain, and we don't have the room to put it right now on storm team for radar. There's one to shower, occupying most of central Montgomery County in Maryland, so definitely support downpours on to 70. But the most of the rain is stretching from southern Maryland over the title, Potomac and down towards the Stafford County areas of the city of Fredericksburg down into Spotsylvania County, too. If you're on 95 right now in Virginia, heading south bound, and if you're planning to go all the way to Richman, you're going to be driving through a lot of heavy rain once you get into Stafford County, just just anticipated and get used to it now, the rest of the listing area not seeing too much right now, but we're watching. More areas of rain and even some thunderstorms start to form in southwestern Virginia, and that's going to be heading towards a stir in the late evening and overnight hours. The flash flood watch this been posted all day for most listening area doesn't even start to midnight. So really, we're only at the halfway point of this entire event, so the showers turning into more steady rain heavy at times. Late this evening into overnight tonight warm and unseasonably humid. In the meantime, there could even be a few thunderstorms with this stuff in temperatures to hold steady this evening in the upper sixties, too low seventies and only go down a couple degrees overnight tonight, but those would be the highest for tomorrow as the strong cold front goes through that's causing all this. The periods of rain will taper off the showers during the midday hours tomorrow, and temperatures will start falling into the fifties tomorrow afternoon, and the humidity will start dropping The flash flood Watch goes all the way till 11 o'clock in the morning. So tomorrow morning's commute going to be pretty rough, too. That it'll all and Thursday night completely and Friday. "Matt Ritter. How are things looking outside? For you are starting to see the clouds build back in not uncommon in this type of overall weather scenario. We've had a couple of stray showers in some parts of the area right now. That shower that was near the city of Fredericksburg has grown quite a bit. In fact, Fredericksburg reporting some heavy rain this hour is pretty isolated. Most of what's popping up right now is very, very light and spotty, especially in Culpeper County. But now it's 24 radar start to see some very light spotty showers. In northern Montgomery County and in Frederick County in Maryland, to so mostly cloudy with just a few stray showers here there this evening in overnight tonight, overnight lows of in the mid sixties, too low seventies, some patchy fog will start to form with all this moisture we have. It's definitely more human today. Sure, you've noticed that morning clouds and patchy fog tomorrow then, as a warm front moves through the area at the surface from south to North Gradually become partly sunny tomorrow. That'll bring warmer temperatures for the entire listening area. We'll get into the load of mid eighties. But with the disturbance aloft moving through that will also destabilized the atmosphere and bring us some scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Some of them could be on the strong side with some heavy downpours Thursday. Partly sunny, hazy, hot and humid. A strong cold front, moving through later in the day will bring a line of storms through and some of those could be strong or severe. High's B the upper eighties too low nineties. But Friday, becoming mostly sunny, breezy and more seasonable. It is an isolated thunderstorm, but it is a severe is produced some wind damage near the city of Frederick a short time ago. The latest severe thunderstorm warnings in effect has been extended southeastward from the city of Frederick, affecting northwestern Howard County, South Central Carroll County. In North Central Montgomery County and the rest of southeastern Frederick County stated until 6 15. Now there's AH, one area particular of concern very close to Newmarket and Green Valley. Parts of Maryland route 75 there where there might be inch diameter Hail falling right now on some of those locations, a cz Wella some 60 mile per hour wind gust, causing some tree damage in that area. But as for the city of Frederick itself, it looks like there's just some light showers and some lightning left over. Right now from the storm areas that are affected by the extended severe thunderstorm. Warning include Damascus in Clarksburg are Bana Woodfield. Layton's Ville Sunshine extends down to Montgomery Village basically kind of parallels Georgia Avenue route 97 up into parts of South Central Carroll County near the Sykesville area, just to the north north of a brook, Phil, and only again, this warning continues until 6 15 as the storm continues to move to the Southeast. And about 20 MPH. So if you're in those areas that I just mentioned to be ready, you'll probably be getting this severe thunderstorm in the next 15 to 20 minutes. There's some non severe thunderstorms. Heavy showers in parts of extreme northern Loudon County right now, not much else happening in the district for the time being or in the rest of Maryland. But we'll keep an eye on things as it continues to be a very warm and very humid day. Again.
