"I feel more compelled to go that route then to chase money so you know i i guess is just what makes me feel good. What makes me feel alive in in how. I want to contribute in that moment. And what's available to me to do that. Yeah so what are the projects that you're or what are some of the projects that you're passionate about. Now yeah so a year ago. I never considered the environments. I was totally unconscious about how my actions affect the environment. Everything from the products that i consumed to the food choices that i make things like that in my health journey as i became more conscious of the effect of foods that i put into my body. And how those affected my mood and my energy and things like that my research went even further into. Okay well the food that. I eat matters. How is the food that i eat being grown and You know started to look at the agricultural system and what's going on with gmo's and What's going on in the animal. Agriculture industry you know. Where's my hamburger coming from as it became more and more aware of You know however food ends up on our play an how that then affects our health. It just kind of spiraled. And i got more and more interested in the link between human health and the environment and i'm not even totally sure how it happens but i kinda got Pulled into helping to kickstart. A youth led organization It's nationwide is called the sunrise movements And like i was saying earlier. It's young people who are demanding. Climate justice demanding social justice demanding economic justice for all people and so i. I saw a video of these young of middle school and high school. Kids talking to senators and standing in front of city hall was signs demanding that we make changes in it it. It kind of woke me up to the fact that hey we are on A unsustainable trajectory if you look at all of the trash in our oceans and the pollution in our air in our water and our food system. I'm concerned by all of those things in the direction that we're heading in so I got involved with this youth organization really to help. Give the youth in las vegas a stage that vacant stand on and speak their voice their issues that i'm concerned about but i'm not necessarily the one out there up speaking about him but just the other week there was a climate strike That i helped to organize. It was worldwide. I think the estimates were about Over one and a half million people across over one hundred countries around the world were out that day striking for justice for climate justice In so i feel really good about helping young people come together and give them a stage in a forum to talk about these issues in to talk about the solutions and to figure out how you know we can come together to make this world a better place so That's one of the project segment taking A lot of my time is Really helping the young people in vegas rally over issues that are important to them As part of kind of a worldwide movement. That's taking place right now. We're young people are waking up and saying you're not gonna destroy my future. You're knocking destroy my plan. It's and i agree with them wholeheartedly..

People looked up to me And if they saw me cracking under pressure you know It could have negative effects on the team on the company and so I didn't want people to know. I was struggling But at the same time it was a really lonely world to be struggling with those things on and have nobody to talk to. You know. I i originally After a couple of years suffering quietly. I did go to the doctor and nate prescribed. You know the first pill that The pharmaceutical industry prescribes for those types of symptoms. And it didn't really help me. And so you know they continue to add on more pharmaceuticals and I didn't like going that route. I didn't feel well And so i started to explore natural Ways to improve my health. And i made changes to my diet and i started to exercise more and found ways to reduce my stress. And you started meditating. And it wasn't until i had been doing all these things for quite some time and i had gotten off the medicines that i finally started opening up and telling people about the journey that i had been on I think a lot of people were surprised because they had no idea That i was struggling. And i now recognize Having talked about my story many people that were all struggling to some degree right some more than others but by opening up with people about my struggles it gave them an opportunity to open up as well. in it it improved several of my relationships In this whole time. "A i think is obvious everybody now that you chose to leave corporate america. And what did that look like. Did you start to question what you were doing. What your purpose was while you were working in that role and it's interesting to me too because you worked for one company you There lots of people worked for multiple companies and I dunno feel like myself and a lot of my friends are a lot of. The people i know are leaving corporate america because just kind of had enough you know. What's your story about that. Yes so it was a couple of years that i had been really starting to question. What am i doing with my life. Is this the path that i really wanna be on Part of it coincided. With when i was graduating on so i had mentioned that. I went back for bachelor's degree And so when i started going to school i thought that when i graduated that was going to springboard me even higher into corporate america. All this time that. I'm going to school and working in fueling. The burnout come on even stronger. The last thing i wanted to do was springboard even higher into corporate america and deal with more stress than all of that. So i really started to question Who am i. what's my purpose. Here how did i even end up in the spot that i'm in because a lot of it was unconscious When i started there it wasn't that i had aspirations to be a cto. Minnows came along much later But i i started to question. Who's dream am my really chasing I am i am. I really aligned with this work in. Is this really what. I wanna do for the rest of my life and i think i figured out the answer to that was no a couple of years before i finally had the courage to resign. I went through a long period of time. You get home from work every night. I was drained. And i was exhausted. And i would beat myself up because i had stayed another day. Just one. it's a a so ready to move on But there is so much fear in anxiety holding me back You know if i do leave this company will another company hire me. Are my skills relevant. You go through all of those questions in your mind. And for longtime allow those to keep me playing small to keep me kinda trout to where i was in that voice in the back of my head grew and grew and grew over a couple of year period and so the point where one day i woke up and said i'm done now that morning. I resigned but i gave them a four months notice. I wanted to leave on good terms. We were in the middle of large projects. I wanted to wrap those up. But i knew that The end of the year would be a good time to transition Just kind of set that you know at the end of december. I'm gonna move on At the time. I didn't know where our gonna go what i was gonna do. I didn't have any intention on applying yet other jobs. Right away I really wanted to take twenty eight. Eighteen take one year. You know kind of a sabbatical and travel and explore new ideas and it was always my idea from the very beginning that somewhere along that year..

"Make the most out of their life and not continue to be sucked into a job that the hader over relationship that isn't serving them You know. I think we'll get to it but i'm really inspired by the young leaders in america that you know along the lines of what i was just talking about are looking at things like the climate crisis that we face that are looking at the injustices in every aspect of our society and saying that's not the world that we want to grow up in And they're out there demanding action there being the change they're creating the world that they wanna live in Because they realized that the adults in you know political power in the world leaders. They're not going to create the world that these young people wanna grow up in so they're creating it themselves so a lot of inspiration in their leadership And i think that's a paradigm shift for us to look at young kids as leaders But certainly there's a number of you know they're in middle school or high school and they're out there on the public stage Making ripples across the world You know some of these climate strikes things that That that i've been involved in. I think we'll talk about I think i think leadership can look like a lot of different things on depending on your perspective and whether your corporate america world or You're looking at the world leaders and i don't mean like the political world leaders but i mean the young people that are waking up and Changing the world to me that's leadership To not be concerned about how what the media saying about them and They're they're going up against huge political powers But they're doing it because they know that The path that we're on now is not sustainable. And it's going to take drastic action bold action to really create a world. That's sustainable worth living in Saw on super inspired by you know especially the young leaders today. Yeah yeah that's it. That's a really good point if you're in a leadership role or even if you're more experienced a little older to to look at the future the future is certainly young people. "Programming. Sometimes to and It's been a while since. I've dabbled in that now but You know it's a skill that i do return to occasionally but i i did enjoy going into management and taking that path. Yeah how did you set yourself up to move to the next position to get promoted to get pay raises in those types of things. I think it was always trying to go above and beyond so anticipating the needs And just running with things without waiting for somebody to tell me what needed to be done. I was able to identify what needed to happen. And i just got it done. I think people recognized that skill in me So when they needed somebody to just take a project and run with it. I think they were comfortable giving it to me knowing that. That's what i was gonna do. And i didn't need a whole lot of hand holding Just trying to stay You know one step ahead of what the business needed and always have that solution ready for them when they came looking for it. Yeah and having a clear understanding of what the business needs are in relation to what sitting on the back end in the code right. And i think a lot of that was just because of how long i had been there had a really good understanding of what the business needs. Were with the direction they were heading what the technology was capable of and how to architects solutions within the current technology stack to achieve What the business was looking for. Oftentimes what they were asking for wasn't even what they wanted or needed. And i think that's another thing that made me successful asking those questions to really Gauge what they were really trying to accomplish and not just what they were asking for because very often ended up being something totally different That they were really looking for Being able to identify that in give them what they were actually looking for Was i think another piece of the story of how..
